Greg Gutfeld
James Hetfield from Metallica was a jerk more than one occasion.
Tyrus
That, to me, shows the. What the craziest insecurity that some of these people have.
Greg Gutfeld
Being in entertainment is great. Being famous is the worst part of it. Perspective allows you to let go of the stuff that really you allowed to bother you for, you know, a good two decades.
Tyrus
I also know that whenever Kennedy's on, it's go time. You got to bring your A game up.
Greg Gutfeld
Do you think I really give a shit about your purity test? Absolutely not.
Tyrus
So. Worried about the streak? Not really. I'm just glad my Red Sox are.
Greg Gutfeld
What are.
Tyrus
They won 15 games, 14 doubleheader.
Greg Gutfeld
Okay.
Tyrus
Right now we're up. But we were so bad. Oh, I know that. I had just got comfortable with it. Yeah. You know, when we got. When we.
Greg Gutfeld
It's like being a Jets fan when
Tyrus
you get beat up by the Rockies.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And the Rockies, like, quit two years ago.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
You know what I'm saying? Like, you kind of like, oh, that's the season. You know? But then all of a sudden, they, you know, they went. They sweep the Yankees. And usually we're. And I was. When it happened, I was like, that's our World Series is. You know, because the Yankees are. They've had a ton of injuries, though. Judge out for the year.
Greg Gutfeld
I don't know, man. He's not back yet. I know that.
Tyrus
Stanton's out. Stanton just shows up.
Greg Gutfeld
Playoff if. Stanton. Stanton. Satan's there for two games. Like, wow.
Tyrus
Yeah. You just want him for the playoffs anyways.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
But, you know, speaking of spectacular events, we're counting down the days, aren't we?
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
To your marriage.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
Congratulations.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank you.
Tyrus
If there's anyone who deserves happiness, it is you.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank you.
Tyrus
So I wish you very well. Very cool dude.
Greg Gutfeld
He's the best.
Tyrus
And it's weird to find. And I don't mean this as like, a slight, but, like, wholesome, good people in the entertainment industry.
Greg Gutfeld
He's not in the entertainment industry.
Tyrus
Yeah, but I'm saying, like, for someone like yourself, typically, you're always surrounded by sharks and opportunists. And it's nice that you're able to find something outside of the realm. And he never struck me as, like, starstruck in my few interactions. He's very down to earth, very normal guy. It's like, you just go to your office. Does he watch?
Greg Gutfeld
No. Sometimes he'll watch the five, but I think that's the only thing. Like, he doesn't watch during the day. Cause he's working. And we never watch TV at night. Unless it's sports. That's all we watch. Like, I'm always amazed. I come to work and people are talking about, like, you know, what they watched on the news the night before. I'm like, unplug. Like, it's so much healthier for you to go back to work when you talk about news all day long, having the Etch A Sketch just shaken overnight so you are a blank slate in
Tyrus
the morning, you know, that's so important. Cause I don't watch, like, when I go home on the weekends, I. Unless it's like the type of news that interrupts every TV show. But other than that, I don't need to know what's going on.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And most of our news now is more like argument news. It's not like you need to know. You know, it's like. It's like the other side's doing this.
Greg Gutfeld
It's.
Tyrus
It's like gossip. Like, it's replaced neighborhood gossip.
Greg Gutfeld
That's so true. It's like, oh, did you see what Mom Donnie said?
Tyrus
Yeah. Like, no, he didn't. Well, how does it change policy? Well, not. Not this time. You know, like, the big thing right now is, what was it? He's going to arrest Netanyahu. But then the intern had to slide him a note saying he can't.
Greg Gutfeld
But I would, like, if I could, I would. And maybe. Maybe I should be able to. Like, maybe the federal government should change the law so I can do that.
Tyrus
Huh? And then you hear it and you're like, that was a way. I would rather hear about sidewalk widening in Kansas. You know, town fairs coming, you know, like, valuable information that we. I can choose to not choose.
Greg Gutfeld
Okay. I'm amazed at how much Greg Gutfeld watches. And I chalk that up to. He has a very high processing speed for his brain.
Tyrus
Like, have you seen the amount of notes he takes?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. I mean, it's like the amount of notes, the amount of life narration he gives himself. And I'm. And I. I can feel his disappointment when he'll turn to me and be like, have you seen the Agency? And I'm like, is that a show? And he's like, ugh. And then he turns away and asks Jessica Tarlov, and she's like, oh, yes, we just did Jessica's Another One Episode season two.
Tyrus
Dana, not so much. Greg gives me movie references. That's. Referrals is the only real communication we have outside of work. And so, like, you got to see this movie.
Greg Gutfeld
I can't watch anything stressful, so that limits my movie and TV consumption.
Tyrus
He likes really weird director stuff.
Greg Gutfeld
He liked that Joaquin Phoenix movie where he was the sheriff with asthma.
Tyrus
Yes.
Greg Gutfeld
And so he's like, you have to see this. This is the best movie of the year. So I started watching it, and I'm like, after 20 minutes, I was so stressed, I'm like, I cannot watch this.
Tyrus
The finish was one of the meanest finishes I think I've ever seen in a movie. Did you stick around for the ending? Okay. It's like, he gets. It goes. Okay. It goes from zero to a thousand to a million to light speed, and you really don't know what the hell is going on. And then dude ends up basically a vegetable.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh.
Tyrus
Living with the mother.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh.
Tyrus
Who's. Who's sleeping with the nurse, and, like, he's in the bed with them. Like, it's just. You're just like, what?
Greg Gutfeld
Wow.
Tyrus
Yeah. And the scene where, like, the nurse gets mad at him and, like, hits him.
Greg Gutfeld
I was trying to watch Devil Wears Prada, too. Like, that's.
Tyrus
I think. I think. I think my daughter's watched that. I didn't. My movies have changed, and maybe it's just because we. You've been in entertainment from. You basically grew up in this industry, and how did you.
Greg Gutfeld
I was in entertainment during the George H.W. bush administration.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
That was a while ago.
Tyrus
Do you look at. Do you look on your career and you go, like, I don't know how. Because you have. Normalcy is a gift. It's almost like a mutant power. You haven't changed at all. I mean, you've had incredible success. You wouldn't be entertaining if you didn't have pitfalls and failures. But you've been able to. I guess if the goal was to maintain relevance, you've done it for decades.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, it's really funny, because when people attack me on Twitter, they're like, you has been hag. I'm like, bro, you found me. Yeah, I. I didn't come looking for you at all.
Tyrus
Yeah, I get worst champion ever. Okay, you're not funny. Okay. But every Week, you're telling me I'm not funny. If you want to hurt me, don't watch. Yeah, I don't care. Like I don't people. That's the one thing that I, the biggest mistake I ever did was when, uh, I start. At first I had absolutely no interest in social media at all. Then I noticed all the positive comments and it kind of, it's like a dopamine hit where everyone tells you how great you are. That is worse to me than the negative comments when people start filling your head like you're so great. Because I think, I think I know a lot of people, they listen to that music and it's just as bad and as dangerous to your career.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, I agree.
Tyrus
Like somebody hating on you almost. I think it's worse.
Greg Gutfeld
And, and that's what that is, is what messes with your mind so much about social media. And that's what convinces like teenage girls that they need to be influencers.
Tyrus
Right.
Greg Gutfeld
Is like a few of those comments and it's like, why want more of that?
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, it's like me so and so makes $100 million a year just by walking around in shoes, you know, and this one makes $200 million a year. She just puts on makeup every morning. And it's like that's what you aspire to. And, and to hear people say, oh my God, I love you, you're so amazing. Like, yeah, that is, it is so incredibly toxic. And it's not real life. Like when people get, when people get upset about something they see on social media, I just want to tell them, like, get a hobby. Like, this is, this is not real life. This is not where you should derive your self esteem or this should not be your compass. Like you should be able to completely set that aside for days at a time and live, you know, an engaging, productive life and be just fine without it.
Tyrus
Have you ever seen a movie that you did not like or a standup show or, or a concert that you did not like and your first move was, I'm going to their page and I'm going to tell them no. Has that ever been, you know, like. Or I have never. And I don't, I don't think it's a point of like, like you sit on a mountain, be like, haha. I don't respond. I feel like that's a nor. Why would you care if I don't like it, I'm not watching it again. No, but I don't need to go after the director on his weekend home And DM him.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. Or try and get someone to fire their employee.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
No, it's. It's literally I go and try and cleanse my palette and find something that I actually like. And it's like, I've been tempted when I've had bad customer service to go online and be like, great job, American Airlines, Right?
Tyrus
Yeah. But I've called them directly. Not the pilot.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Or the.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, you call them directly.
Tyrus
Excuse me.
Greg Gutfeld
What is your social.
Tyrus
What are your handles?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. What's your mom's maiden name?
Tyrus
Yeah. Because I've got some comments about you not bringing me water with ice in it when I clearly asked for ice and I didn't get water. I think that's a bigger problem with. And you've seen it all, like, you've had. And you were. Mtv was it. I mean, it was on every young person, whether their parents were other parents at work. Some are. MTV was on all the time.
Greg Gutfeld
I try and tell my daughters, like, I try and get them to imagine, first of all, life without their phones.
Tyrus
Right.
Greg Gutfeld
But second of all, not having any other choice, like, there's no. And it was really interesting, like reading Tom Preston's book. You know, he was the CEO of MTV Networks. And all of the record labels were going to get together. They were so mad at mtv because MTV had a monopoly on which videos got played, therefore, which artists had hit singles and hit albums, and they could make millions of dollars. Absolutely. So the labels got together and, like, we're going to start our own music video channel, and we're not going to let MTV play any of our stuff. And that was a big worry for mtv. But still, somehow, they talk them out of it and. And they were the only player in the game for such a long time. And I try and tell my girls, like, what that was like, because it. It is inconceivable at this point that there would only be TikTok, or there
Tyrus
would only be so many different if there was just that. You know what? Because the Michael Jackson movie kind of hit on that little bit like Billie Jean he wanted on mtv. And at that time, the rumor was that MTV wouldn't play black artists.

At its center is Brett, whose reality begins to unravel when the arrival of a new student coincides with a series of mysterious murders and FX's the shards premieres August 5th on FX and Hulu.
Greg Gutfeld
That's what Tom Fresson said in his book.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
And he was like. And he was like, I'm sorry, that was, that was such a stupid miscalculation on our part. And we thought that only black music fans listen to black music. And boy were we wrong. And you know, it's a mayor.
Tyrus
I think when you own a mistake, you need to let it go, you know, because the. They obviously changed it, you know, because then it, then it became a launching pad for black artists. I mean, yo, MTV Raps. And. And then, you know, at nighttime it was like R and B, you know, then VH1 kind of came along and it was all R and B all the time. You know, so when you see mistakes or, or just narrow minded thinking and then you see the people go, you know what, we got that wrong. I think you, historically, you need to let it go. You know, and that's still. And it always is a point of contention with everybody is like, you know, whatever they feel wasn't represented or that's how things work. People have certain mindsets. And then when you're able to be enlightened or change and every one of us has been that way on something, not necessarily race or culture or whatever. I think that's the one thing that's lacking today in media across the board on TV shows, when people are speak as on TV every week, is the inability to say I got that wrong.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Or wow. And for people to go inside this.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank you.
Tyrus
Yeah, I didn't see it that way. I, I stand corrected. Once you. All we hear is to your point.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Like I, if you agree with someone, but they'd be like, you know what? I stand corrected. I didn't really think about it that way. Thank you. You know, when that happened to me last week, I had. When I was hosting the radio show. Thanks for coming on, by the way. I had Reagan Charleston on and I was the, the whole, the pr. The Nazi guy. And my thing was like, why did she wait so long to come out to say rape? And I'm like, that makes me raise an eyebrow. And, and you know, like, why didn't she, you know, why didn't they call the police? And you know, with all this stuff. And then Reagan was basically from a lawyer's perspective was telling me like, it's such a like impossible thing when you don't have the DNA kit anymore. You never took one. And like she was saying it's Hearsay. And. And it's very hard to. And I was like. I didn't really think about it. I was like, you know what? I guess I really. But she said that for her to come forward, knowing that she was a supporter, you know, you need to look at that. And it is really hard to come. And as a man. Not just any man. I'm a mountain of man. You know, I don't have to worry about too much rapings when I walk home. You know, if anything, I. Cars. I have to worry about a car. Me hitting a car and breaking someone's nice car. But you don't. In perspective, you don't always see things a certain way.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And I was like, wow, I got that one wrong, because I didn't think in that. I was just thinking.
Greg Gutfeld
I mean, I understood what she was saying because she told her friends at the time, Right. She stopped dating the guy, you know, and. And she was like, in her head, she's like, did I consent to that? Like, I know I said no, but, you know, it's like, on some level, did I have some co. I mean, were we in a relationship? Like, I understand all that. And how in her mind, it didn't rise to the level of criminality.
Tyrus
Right.
Greg Gutfeld
Like, it was.
Tyrus
But it was still wrong.
Greg Gutfeld
He was drunk. It makes him a bad person. She knew he was wrong. And. And what really sent her over the edge was seeing how Lindsay Fifield was treated. And because their stories were not that dissimilar. Like, he's a controlling jerk. He. He lied in public about what he had done in private. And then it allowed Democrats to look at Lindsey, who was a Republican, go, she's lying. She's a political operative. She's exaggerating all of this just to hurt him politically.
Tyrus
Right.
Greg Gutfeld
And, you know, didn't give her an ounce of grace or any credibility and just dismissed her at face value. And so. And the other woman was like, no, there's something about that that's wrong. And they had both talked to this survivor's network, and, you know, and this woman who is really hell bent on making sure that women understand when they're in abusive relationships and not to put up with that kind of abuse, because it's like, obviously, being a man is not that, and I know it's not. We've. We've really screwed up young men in this country, and they have been so demonized that they have actually lost touch with, you know, masculinity and what it means to be a man are two very different things. And they're two very, very important things. And what he did to those women, that is not being a man.
Tyrus
No, it's a monster. You know, and it's because one of the. I think one of the tough things is one role models to. For a long. Especially in. In media. And people think entertainment and media are somehow real connections to life. They're not.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And most of the people that you see on TV are reading from a teleprompter or a facade or they're hiding something else. The other side of it is, is that people do and say horrible things for attention. We just saw that with a lady didn't want to stand in line. Did you see that? And she. The guy standing there, he had a pirate's hat on. And he's standing there waiting for. He was waiting for that women's store. And she cut in front of him and then backed into him and then said, excuse me, this man's assaulting me. He assaulted me. But it was women who was cameraed it who called her out.
Greg Gutfeld
Good.
Tyrus
And now, now I guess she's losing her job because they put her on the thing. But like there was a power in because people would just make false accusations and the media would just jump all over it depending on whom it was. And this was the first case where a guy who was. First of all, when we saw that he was on kick in a towel that kind of should have been a red. That should have been done right then and there. I mean, he's. I mean, he's literally a predator.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. I mean, but the Nazi tattoo.
Tyrus
The Nazi tattoo still kills me because he didn't completely cover it up.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And people like, the wolf's head is still out.
Greg Gutfeld
He didn't know it was a Nazi tattoo. Tattoo. And it's like for 18 years, I
Tyrus
know everyone on my body.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Everyone.
Greg Gutfeld
And by the way, got it in Croatia.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, it's like, so a tattoo parlor in Croatia that's tattooing a bunch of marines. They're not going to go, oh, yeah, this is the ss.
Tyrus
I'm sure. I'm sure the tattoo artist was. If you're going to sell that type of tattoo in your establishment.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Chances are it's probably a. Not the first time a Nazi has come in for a tattoo. Yeah. You know, it's like you. I specialize when you look at the wall of things to pick. Oh, yeah. That one's one of my favorites. I don't think he did not know where he was.
Greg Gutfeld
Also. Didn't. Didn't appear to be talked out of it. Like, bro, are you sure you want
Tyrus
that as a man? You don't get things on your chest by your heart unless it means a lot. Usually it's like your first love, and then you get it Xed out. Your children, your children's name, your mom's name, picture of your dead friend. You know, like, that's a specific area. Yeah, yeah. Whoa, boy. He's a whole. Did you ever have interactions with him?
Greg Gutfeld
No, I never. I never got to meet Tupac, which was sad. I met Snoop, I met Dre. I met Warren G a lot. And he.
Tyrus
Warren G is one of the most down to earth. Like, fame was never.
Greg Gutfeld
I don't know why. He was deeply attracted to me. And he made it known that he wanted to have some sort of a romantic connection.
Tyrus
Well, he was. He was a violator. He was trying to write up, but
Greg Gutfeld
he wanted to show me his little black man. So he would tell me that repeatedly.
Tyrus
Well, that blows the whole Family Guy thing. Now I have him because I knew him through. When I was coaching with Snoop, he did the. He also was youth football, like, in. His sons play sports. So he was. That's the guy I knew. Family guy.
Greg Gutfeld
But this was, you know, this is mid-90s. I loved Coolio. Like, Julio was awesome. He was the coolest.
Tyrus
Who was the most probably, like, I don't want to say let down, but like, huh. That's it. But the hype was just so high.
Greg Gutfeld
James Hetfield from Metallica was a jerk more than one occasion.
Tyrus
Like, he was kind of comes off that way.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, he was really uppity. And, you know, he just. He was so self impressed. And it's like, you know, I would always see him in the context where there were other famous people around. And he wasn't like the most famous guy, but I had a great deal of respect for him. Like, think he's an incredible guitar player. Love his voice. Love Metallica songs. And it was like, damn. Because Kirk and Lars in Metallica were the coolest guys. Like, really fun to be around. And James was a wet sandwich.
Tyrus
And that's. Unless you're a fish, that's not a good meal for me. It was. It was like the most random thing. I had met Aerosmith, and I was. Me and my buddy were in Louisville. We were. Our agent had us out there. We were training and working, getting ready to work out for the Cowboys. And there was this bar that everybody went to on the weekends, was like this high establishment. And we had. We're like, in the car, like, I got 15. What do you got? You know, like, we were flossing, you know, but, like, you know, big guys. And we walk in and we sit at the bar, and Aerosmith's in there, and everyone's making a big deal about it. And. What's his name? Steven Tyler or whatever. He looked at us like we were the help, you know, he just kind of like. And I was like, man, this big lips. I remember thinking, like, wow. And this is before shots or anything.
Greg Gutfeld
Have you ever seen his feet?
Tyrus
No, I didn't get. I didn't have that much time. It was a little dark lip, but it's.
Greg Gutfeld
It's intense. He's got something going on. He's got, like, LeBron toes.
Tyrus
And he. He kind of looked at us up and down, like. And he kind of like me, like. And, like, got up with his little glass of wine or whatever the hell it was, and he left. And I was like, I remember my buddy Martin, rest his soul. He was like, man, what a dick. And he's like, I'm not even a fan. I just recognize him. And he was like, hey, man, you know, what brings you to town?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. But also, if you say, hi, like, we're human beings.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Just say, hey, how's it going? It doesn't mean someone's like, oh, my God, can I get an autograph with you? No.
Tyrus
None of us were like that.
Greg Gutfeld
Can you sign my arm so I can get your signature tattooed on my. Like. No, it's like, if someone says hi, be like, oh, hey, what's up?
Tyrus
Yeah, I think I said, like, bon Jovi's cooler. I think I said something like that. And. But the band was still there.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And his lead guitarist was like, ah, he's just a. What do you say? He's just a bitch. Don't worry about him. And we laughed. And then he was like. He brought us around, and we ended up hanging out with the band.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, that's nice.
Tyrus
You know, and then they were cracking us up because they had karaoke night there.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And they were critiquing all the lead singers, like, who they would replace him with.
Greg Gutfeld
That's right.
Tyrus
It was hilarious. But it was like, you meet somebody and you're like, wow. But then you meet the rest of his team, and they're all cool, you know? And they. And they stayed there. And because they were so low key, I think most of the bar didn't know who they were because they didn't make. They also dressed normal.
Greg Gutfeld
Interesting.
Tyrus
I remember Tyler I think he was in, like, something you would see him on stage with. He had, like, this ridiculous jacket on the.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. Like, nose and scarves.
Tyrus
Yeah. Like, long tail. And you're like, what are you, a villain in a Batman TV series?
Greg Gutfeld
Like, so the guys in Nine Inch Nails told me a funny story. They were playing with Red Hot Chili Peppers in New Orleans, and this was in, like, the early 90s. And Anthony came down, and there were a lot of girls in the bar, and he was trying to talk to them, and they were ignoring him. So he went upstairs and changed his shirt and put on a Chili Peppers T shirt.
Tyrus
You know, as sad as that is, as a bodyguard, I used to see that a lot.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Guys that would walk in and they would be like, hello. And then they would say. And then they'd be. And the best one ever is. We walked in to a club he is a. He performed at, and he was a young, upstart talent. And it was Grammys week. And we were Snoop's bodyguards, but we had to watch Nephew. I'll just call him Nephew. And he had made a. Walked in, and no one recognized him. No one paid any attention. And then he kind of stood there, and the lady who liked, if you want to get a table, and she was dealing with real clients, and he was like, yo, yo. And she was just like, just a minute, and went about her business. And this dude got really upset, and he looked at me and my partner, Big Tiny, and he was like, we need to go back outside, regroup this thing. And I was like, okay. So he walked back outside the club. He's like, y' all need to go in there, walk up to them, tell them who I am and what I'm for, and I need it, and I need a table now, and I can't wait. Like, make sure you tell them who I am. Make sure you tell them who I am. I was like, o. Okay. And I was like, tiny, you should go because you're taller. I'll stay here and make sure you're safe. Because if we both can't leave you. Tiny went in and he came back out, and he had a real confused look on his face. And he said, the lady said, she doesn't know who you are. And he threw a fit. And then he was like, you go in there and tell her. He clearly can't do the job. Right? So I walked in there, and she was like, look, I've got Robert or the Lakers here. I've got, you know, I've got Penny Marshall. I've got all. She's got, like, all these major stars at table. She's like, if he wants a table, it's 15 grand. He needs his credit. You know, I don't care. Who is this guy? Like, whatever. And I was like, I had to, like, remember that song on the bus. Like, Coca Cola song. Spoiler. And like, you remember that song? He like, she's like, that guy. And I was like, yeah, that's who it is. And she was like, oh, okay. Because comes in and they bring him to the table, and he gets. He walks in there, and he looks at her, and he was like, do you have anything to say? And she come on. Yeah. And I was just like, let it go. You know? And she's like, I'm so sorry, Chris Brown. And I walked away. He was so upset. So upset. And I was like, you know? But like, that, to me, shows the craziest insecurity that some of these people have. Like, if I go somewhere and nobody notices me, I'm so excited.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. I don't want to put myself in a situation where I'm waiting to get noticed. It's like, I would rather go home and put on a face mask.
Tyrus
Right. Just. But you're that thirsty. Yeah. It's like. That's like sailors stranded at sea. You know, like, just.
Greg Gutfeld
But there are so many people who want to be famous for that. And it's like, being in entertainment is great. Like, it's a great career. You get to do fun stuff. Being famous is the worst part of it, in my estimation. I know there are people who are really, really thirsty for it. But that's, like. That has always been the part of it that I'm like, all right, I
Tyrus
always wanted to be myself. I just wanted to be successful. I wanted to be. I wanted to be respected. I think that was my whole thing. Cause the way I came up and I just.
Greg Gutfeld
But respected for doing a great. And being the best at what you do.
Tyrus
Right. And I think for a lot. And I. I know for me, I had to learn the hard way because my idea of being. Thinking about being respected was being recognized.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
So I went through that period where I want. Because I. For so long, I was an underachiever, you know, like, especially when, like, you've washed out from professional sports. And there was that moment when football wasn't happening anymore. Not the level I wanted it to, and arena ball didn't pay enough, and I didn't like playing it. And my options were substitute teacher and bouncing at a club. So when you're when you're.
Greg Gutfeld
Was that before you met Snoop?
Tyrus
Yeah, that was before and relative. I met his team shortly after that. But like, there was that period where I was working for about 85 bucks a night plus tips and trying to get substitute teaching jobs. But I just remember the whole anytime someone would come up to me, my lie would get better and better. You know, I'm just helping my buddy out. This is his company. You know, I'm waiting for a call for the Dolphins one week or I'm waiting for this, you know, and it's just like, you know, I like to go out and just kind of chill. But, you know, at least. And the amount of bullshit that I would come up with helped my creative process now. Cause you know, I can like playing around. But like then it was. I wanted to be respected so badly and at all means. And then when it happened, when I started giving, oh, you're Snoop's bodyguard. Oh, you must be a good bodyguard. So then, you know, but then there was that at least I had enough common sense to understand and respect somebody else's status. Like, I never tried to be Snoop's buddy or in pictures with him, you know, or like famous with him or like.
Greg Gutfeld
But I imagine a lot of his bodyguards did do that.
Tyrus
Yeah. Because you could. And you wouldn't be his bodyguard for very long.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Especially if the wife got wind of it. You'd be done real quick. But guys would do things like that. They get, we call it starstruck. People get starstruck or they get around you or they're, you know, their whole purpose for Snoop is their own.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes. As opposed to doing a job like a Secret Service agent.
Tyrus
Right, yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Like a Secret Service agent shouldn't be like, okay, what is my best angle and where are the cameras at this Trump rally?
Tyrus
Exactly. And I need to make sure that I'm on this. And I remember we had a lot of people go in and out. There were staples like Stephen Keys. I think he's still. Keys is still with him. And there was guys that were there to do the job.
Greg Gutfeld
I remember Tiny.
Tyrus
Yeah. Winston. Oh, I love Tiny.
Greg Gutfeld
Everyone loved Tiny.
Tyrus
Everyone loved, you know, he had that thing and him and I, it's. Everyone thought we were brothers because we're both light skinned. We had the greenish blue eyes. And so every time he would see me, it was brother. But he sings it brother. You know, I'd be like, brother. And we were. And we kind of like were like Abbott and Costello as best way I could describe us. And. But he was always about the job. He would have every new bodyguard equipment known to man that we did not need. Like, he just. It. Hey, these belts.
Greg Gutfeld
Hi, Tiny. Hello, Tiny.
Tyrus
Tiny. He's still with us.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes, he is.
Tyrus
Wait a minute. Oh, Oriole scored a run. It's okay. We're still up. The streak's okay, but. No, no, no, do not. They're gonna come in and try. No, no, no. We're not fixing it. We're not. We'll fix it in post.
Greg Gutfeld
Exactly right.
Tyrus
We'll do it live.
Greg Gutfeld
You can AI it. We'll do a live levitating. Yeah, we'll do a live. And I'll try it myself.
Tyrus
Yeah, do it live. We'll just. It's fine.
Greg Gutfeld
Looks better that way.
Tyrus
It's the way I wanted it.
Greg Gutfeld
I like it vertical.
Tyrus
That's what he said. Oh, it's broken.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, it is broken. It's gonna need a little stick em on there.
Tyrus
Just a little. You know, it'll be fine. It's always bad when a planet falls.
Greg Gutfeld
It's never good.
Tyrus
It's never good.
Greg Gutfeld
Maybe there's a black hole.
Tyrus
You know, I'm sorry about this. This never happens on your podcast.
Greg Gutfeld
We don't have stuff on the walls like.
Tyrus
No, but you have magnificent drinks and atmosphere.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, I do have magnificent drinks.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
I made. So I. We have.
Tyrus
You're an amazing bartender.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank you.
Tyrus
Barkeep is actually. And deadly. You are deadly.
Greg Gutfeld
Exactly right. So I made. We have a cabin a couple hours outside the city in the mountains, which I love. And we were shooting guns. This weekend. I'll show you the video. And I didn't mean to, but there's wild mint growing. Jenny Phelo was up there, and I showed her the planter box where I planted sweet mint and peppermint. And she was like, okay, that's cool. But all of that over there, that's wild mint. And I'm like, oh, my garden. And the mountainous wild mint is so much better and more fragrant than the stuff that I tried to grow that I bought at Lowe's. And I made mojitos this weekend that were so good because the limes are like July lime.
Tyrus
You don't mess around.
Greg Gutfeld
It's all about ratios. So photography, baking, and drink making are all very common. And it's all about ratios, like the ratio of light, the ratio of sugar, how alcohol balances with citrus. Like, it's all ratios. And you can't overdo any one thing. But you. You can. You can bump up the alcohol. You just have to level it out with something else.
Tyrus
You know, I learned the hard way about your amazing part because. Well, first of all, was it three years running? Is it three or two? Our New Year's Eve special that was a throwaway special is. Does great. And you. The first time. Yeah, it's three. We did three now. And you came on as a favor for me and Kat to be the bartender, you know, just so we can hang out and do an episode. And it was absolute silliness. And then they asked us to come back and ask. Come back. But the first year, we weren't allowed to have any alcohol.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
And so you made these really good mocktails. Yeah, they were phenomenal. They were really good. Then Cat's pregnant, and apparently they loosened up the.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. So I made her a mocktail, but I was unaware. But I wanted to honor the integrity of the drink by giving you the actual, actual alcohol.
Tyrus
I assumed that it was a mocktail, and I chugged it. Absolutely chugged it. And it hit. It hit like. I was like.
Greg Gutfeld
That was actually surprising because you're a big guy, so I assume it takes, like, a lot more for you to.
Tyrus
To feel certain things, like beer. I can go forever if it's. If it's something that I'm used to, like beer or whiskey or vodka. Yeah. But the combination of it, it was, like, super sweet. And I chugged it, and then I was like, I'll have another one. And then I was like, hey, this is, like, the greatest mocktail I've ever had. And you're like, this ain't a mocktail.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. And Tom o', Connor, Greg's executive producer, who was executive producing that show, pulled me aside, and he was like, what did you put in my host's drink? Like, I roofied you.
Tyrus
Yeah. Yeah. No, it was. I was just like. I felt like there was that. I always think of that. A great movie. Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder stir crazy. In the very beginning when they asked, instead of oregano, they put Richard Pryor's weed in there. And I remember the lady was, like, throwing this in. Like, the priest was talking to her. And because they were more. She's like, you get much. And he's like an occasional glass at dinner. And Richard had that girl. That's not what she meant. Like, that's kind of where the show. That's where the show kind of went after that.
Greg Gutfeld
But.
Tyrus
And then when you had your. Was it 100th episode? Thousand Thousands episode. Yeah. I came down and again had one of your fancy things. And then the last Time I came on another one like you. If this didn't work out, you could open a sports bar and it would be. Cheers Would be running for the money.
Greg Gutfeld
I love bar rescue. Do you watch that?
Tyrus
Oh, I love it. He's. He's one of my favorite people on the.
Greg Gutfeld
So amazing. Like, I love his process. I love the whole thing. I love that he has that.
Tyrus
Has he done your podcast?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Yeah. He's awesome.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. And. Yeah. And he was like, oh, this is very well balanced. I was like, thank you. I used his brown butter. Yeah. That's what I love about him.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
It's. I love people who. But I love that he sits back and really gets a sense of. Of how things are going, because that's the only way you really know how things are going wrong.
Tyrus
Right.
Greg Gutfeld
Instead of just coming in and, like, yelling and screaming, he waits to yell and scream, and he gives people a shot to make their case. And then they always, like, they always resist change. And then he loses his mind. And there. There is so much utility there because not enough people, like, really voice and tell people, like, they're so scared of offending younger people that no one gets bullied, no one gets yelled at, no one gets dressed down. Like, everything's like, okay, well, here's what you're doing. Amazing. Like, you're so good at this. And then maybe there are these little tiny things that, you know, could we work on a little bit? Just bump them up by 10.
Tyrus
That doesn't work. You know, though, he. I always said, like, you fix the bar, but you fix families.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
He saves marriages.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes. Because people put their life savings which. Which is going to pay for something else. And then when that something else is taken away, all of this resentment bubbles up. And it's like, you blew our nest egg on this shithole.
Tyrus
Yeah. And the guy's like, yeah, yeah, it's my dream. She's like, it was my father's money. Yes. It's never the person. You know what's funny? It's never the person who has the money that's the biggest screw up. No, it's the husband or the wife. My favorite is the one who's at the bar all day and they just. Well, not. And they're like, they're complete drunks and they harass the wait staff and the cook staff, and they're always the one. Like, no one else has a problem with it.
Greg Gutfeld
You're just like, I love those people.
Tyrus
You should. He asked me to do the show.
Greg Gutfeld
I do the painting, I do the Murals.
Tyrus
Yes.
Greg Gutfeld
Everyone loves it.
Tyrus
Yeah. People come here to see me and they're like, you pull the eyes.
Greg Gutfeld
You're standing outside with a bullhorn, embarrassing yourself, begging them to come in and have drinks. That is horrible.
Tyrus
And it's always the dude who's like, he's dying his hair, but he doesn't have enough hair left.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, it's.
Tyrus
It's. But Taffer just cuts through him like a butter through knife. And it's one of my. I love that show and I can watch it in a Maryland thing. Kat did it.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
I'm scheduled. I was scheduled to do it and then I had a conflict. You should totally do that show.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, that would be so much fun.
Tyrus
We should do that show. Because I could. Because I worked in the kitchen forever. For whatever reason, this face was never meant for waitress, waitering and bartendering. I was always the kitchen. The guy in the back kitchen. Maybe just because the apron filled me out better. But like, I worked in more kitchens. I was a kitchen manager. Like, so.
Greg Gutfeld
So you're like the guy in Blues Brothers when Aretha Franklin goes back to her husband. Like a man just ordered four whole chickens.
Tyrus
Yes.
Greg Gutfeld
Jake. And dry white toast. Elwood. So you're the.
Tyrus
That's me. Yeah. Cause I always, every once in a while I would. If somebody was. There was one work at this one place every week you cash the check. It was like being a casino. You didn't know if it was going to clear or was not going to clear. And slowly but surely, first the waitresses quit because they're check, you know, and then the bartenders because they can get work elsewhere. So I was literally in the back cooking. And then I was bartendering and then I was taking orders for like around the thing. But I was, I was doing it all, you know, And I just remember I was like, well, now that everybody's quit, my check's going to be fine.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And then of course it wasn't fine. But you kept. The owner was like, if you could just keep. You know, it's coming, it's coming. So I work for like three weeks with no check.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
But I learned every. I was doing the order. I was doing the thing. I mean, I was. I learned every aspect of. And while I was doing that, they were opening a Carlos or Kelly's across the street and. And the management team came over to eat. And I was like, listen, it's going to be good. But like, I'm going to take your order. But I make your drinks first. You go ahead, give me Your food or. And then I'll do the food. And they're like, who else is here? And I was like, you're looking at them, you're looking at it. And they're like, you want a job? I'm like, oh yeah. Does you guys the checks on.
Greg Gutfeld
But I feel like that has happened to you throughout your life.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh my God.
Tyrus
You've got like WWE was me beating up people at a bar, but I did it with a smile on my face.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, but I'm sure that happened here. Like same thing you're on. And they're like, oh my God. Like do you do this all the time? Like, are you really that quick? Can we please give you a job here? Like that had to have been what happened.
Tyrus
Basically what happened. And all I did was in the locker room. That was just. I've always been that guy. But for some reason, aesthetically I'm not as pleasing. I don't fit the role for my mouth, if that makes any sense. Like when they hear me talk, they're like, you know, for a big guy, you, you're kind of smart. And I want to say you use
Greg Gutfeld
your tongue prettier than a $20 whore.
Tyrus
Yes, exactly. That is why you are my all time. You're to say you're a guest on a Gutfeld show is an absolute joke. You are part of the Gutfeld family. Like you are. There are certain, like Johnny Carson had Sinatra, like he had certain danger field gut feel has Kennedy like it? Because you come on. Whenever I host, I'm always like, is Kennedy available?
Greg Gutfeld
That's awesome.
Tyrus
Because I know that like if it goes off the rails and you're there, it's going to be for a damn. It's going to be amazing.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, that's when that show is so much fun.
Tyrus
Oh yeah. Like when, when what's his name asked me if, if I was starving when I eat in cannibalism and the only thing left to eat was a penis, would I eat it? And I was like, no, no, I plan ahead. And I said, well, I'll just pose that question. And the crowd, the intensity, they already were crying because they knew magic was coming. And then you made this awesome story off the top. You're. You're quick and it's never off, you know, it's never like. Because some people go off on a tangent and you're like, what, what do you.
Greg Gutfeld
What is like Rich Voss talking about? And then we had a kitten showed up. Yeah. It's like, well, that's a nice Story, Rich. Yeah.
Tyrus
And then he said he made a joke. It was so. It was so. The crowd was like. And I had to immediately turn around. He was talking about the white people. You don't want those, you know, Because I was like, let me get my lifeguard jacket on. Because I don't think you know what you just did. And then I gotta get the story about this roommate sleeping with his girlfriend. A fan posted a picture of him during that time. Have you seen it?
Greg Gutfeld
No. Oh, no.
Tyrus
He had a Jerry curl. That's all.
Greg Gutfeld
No, but you're like, I was a real goodlooking guy.
Tyrus
No, he had a Jerry curl.
Greg Gutfeld
Wow.
Tyrus
Like, it was with all the chains and stuff.
Greg Gutfeld
Is that what he's hiding under the pork pie hat?
Tyrus
And it was like he was something out of a villain in a high school musical.
Greg Gutfeld
Wow.
Tyrus
Like he was. His name had to have Grease in it. Like, it was. I could not stop laughing. I'm gonna find that picture. It is one of the six to three. We're doing okay. This streak has to keep going. Like, it's Red Sox fans. We Ever since, you know, it doesn't work for us anymore because when we never won a World Series or we always got beat by the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth, then it was like, it works. But when you win a World Series, you really don't have the right to complain, you know, and so I'm not complaining, but, you know, getting whooped the way we were last year, the Yankees, just. You guys just what? For us. And this year.
Greg Gutfeld
Is that real?
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
He looks like an extra in the Thriller video when they do the Zombie.
Tyrus
Exactly. He had a. I think he has a Michael Jackson jacket on.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, he looks like. He looks like he went through a phase where he's like, I could seriously pass myself off.
Tyrus
We're going to ask Michael Jackson. I'm going to ask boss if we can use this. This photo. I'm going to take a snapshot of it. But, like, if you didn't see the episode, I'm sure it's on YouTube.
Greg Gutfeld
I mean, if someone posted that on X. Yeah. I believe that's fair game.
Tyrus
It's fair game. Then we'll definitely get. I'm getting the nod. I'm getting the nod from the booth. But you're. There's no script with you. Like, that's the funnest part about working with you is like. And here's the thing, silly and fun is one thing, but if somebody hit economic policy, you're right there with them. Like, where does. Are you? Like, I prepare for everything all the time.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
What is your. Because people, you will do the five. You. You do outnumbered you. You can do all star panel on. On Brett Baer. Like, there is nothing at FOX that you could not sit in on and carry the load.
Greg Gutfeld
That's why I love fox.
Tyrus
Yeah, it's. But it takes a special level of intelligence because you're also not a walking talking point. You don't. You're not reading. When you see the story. Your talking point isn't from the paragraph and you don't fill it with bullshit like your answer as. And you're. As an independent and a libertarian. You can sit in three different chairs on the five. Yeah, I'm in one smart assery chair. I'm in a smart assery chair. And there's king smartassery, which is Greg, and then there's me. But you can sit on pretty much every. Any other chair. Oh, you could also sit in the smartassery chair.
Greg Gutfeld
If they were desperate like you, Shalou and Kat would all have to be sick in order for them to be like, okay, Greg just had his wisdom tooth out.
Tyrus
Right?
Greg Gutfeld
It was. Yeah, can you. And it would have to be like deep yogurt.
Tyrus
But for people who, like, see you and like, I'm always curious, what is your prep? Like, what is it? Because I think that the sense of humor, that's just something you have to. Where you can take any situation, but you. Your. Your mind is as like a photo album. Like, my favorite thing about you is I know that every show that I do with you, there's gonna be a cool movie reference that's. No one's going. And it's not like the catch one. It's like an obscure one that, like, only the most die hard.
Greg Gutfeld
But that's what I love is, like, not explaining references. And if people don't get them, it's okay. Like, there's still plenty to.
Tyrus
Or they go, oh, you know, like, you know.
Greg Gutfeld
But if you get it, it's like, you deserve it. And I can't stand when people ask you to explain references. Like, that's not the point.
Tyrus
No, you're not in reference. It's like a joke at a Mormon church. Either you get it or you don't. Yeah, you know, it's not. It's not up to us to fill you in. But like, what is your. When you prep for a week at Fox, what is that?
Greg Gutfeld
Like, the best summer memories are made outside and L.L. bean has the clothing and gear you need to make these memories. Their effortless styles are created for summer spent outside side with family and friends like hand sewn boat shoes, coastal cotton sweaters, rugged polos, and of course the iconic boat and tote which has been made right here in Maine since 1944. L.L. bean be an outsider. Visit L.L. bean.com to learn more. It depends on the show. Like, you know, it's like they all send out like Varney doesn't send out links. So Varney will be like, here's Stewart's monologue. You can read that and you're going to react to it. But then you have to figure out, okay, what are the points in here?
Tyrus
Not to mention there's a panel where everyone will have the first original idea.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes. And that's always like whenever you're on a panel show like the Five Outnumbered, there's a good chance you're going to go third or fourth and the first two people, you know, they get the first whack at the pinata and it's going to be like, oh, I wanted to say that. So you have to in real time, either react to that with something new and like move the story forward. Because there are a couple things you can do. You can do like historical analysis, you can do like a deep data dive or you can be forward looking and be like, this is what that means. Mark my words, this will lead to that. And you know, when, when you look at things in sort of three different ways, it gives you different avenues of
Tyrus
reaction and you're also, you're not afraid to look and I can't really say the other side, I hate that. But like you will look at all different points of view, not just your own, not just as someone who's a libertarian. And you'll look at a democratic perspective, a right perspective. Then you'll have the extreme, this extreme that. But like you're not afraid to listen. Like you'll listen to like what a Don Lemon has to say and be like, okay, there's something in there or Rachel Maddow or you know, and then you can go the other side. There's a Bill Maher or there's a Hannity or you know, or, or, or kill me. You're not afraid to take information from where all, even if you don't agree with them in on any other level.
Greg Gutfeld
The only thing I don't is, is socialism is like hardcore socialism. There are a couple things that I agree with progressives on, but by and large, like socialism, big government, the expansion of government in order to erode People's rights. That's the one thing where I'm like, I do not have any sympathy for you.
Tyrus
No quarter. But you have been consistent on that since back when we did the show with no audience.
Greg Gutfeld
But I understand why.
Tyrus
Before it was sexy, because there was a time with someone like yourself and Kat when you guys would talk about libertarianism as small, you would get attacked from both sides.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes. And people do that all the time. And conservatives lately, like, and I'm sure Kat feels the same way. If you say anything that's even remotely libertarian, they're like, this is why libertarians suck. And it's like, no, this is why we have to build coalitions in this country. Because the two party system has let everyone down and it's only led to big government, more spending, higher taxes. But I understand why people are upset. Not being able to pay their bills, not being able to afford an apartment, not being able to afford school. I understand that. But you know, it's like, I also want them to look at it from someone's perspective. Like, yes, I did go to college. That doesn't mean I should pay for everyone's college.
Tyrus
Right.
Greg Gutfeld
60% of the people in this country did not go to college. Why should they be on the hook for someone who has convinced themselves that the only way they're going to get a good education is if they're spending $90,000 a year? Like, that doesn't make any sense. Who can afford, if you can't afford a home, how do you expect to pay $400,000 in, in student debt back with a higher interest rate and a higher monthly payment than a mortgage? So, you know, and I just want people to do an honest cost benefit analysis. And if college is really the most important thing for you, and I know so many people, especially parents of boys who now are going, I don't think I want my son to go to college. Like, I see what they're talking about in college. I see how they demonize young men and I see how some people come back like total pinkos. I don't think my son needs to go to college. And that's a very healthy conversation. Because if you have a motivated student who wants to go out and start a company at 18, 19 years old, why would you waste four years? When you get a four year head start and you can still watch YouTube videos, you can still like read textbooks and papers. Yeah, books have poems, all the stuff that they study in MBA programs. And you can implement that into your business because, you know, if there's One thing that they're. They're jamming into people's heads now. It's the earlier you start investing, the richer you will be sooner. So it's like, if you can start saving money at 19, 20 years old, you do not have to worry about retirement at all. If you're setting aside $200 a month and it's like, why create more of an economic disaster for yourself if you don't have to?
Tyrus
Like, why.
Greg Gutfeld
Why create an affordability crisis in your own life if you can get the same thing at a state school with a little bit of financial aid or a scholarship?
Tyrus
Let me ask you this, because all the libertarians that I work with are brilliant. You guys do really good. You guys can. You can take things left and right. You have no problem discussing things. Why has there not been a strong Libertarian candidate? I don't. Because whenever we have one, it's a complete dumpster fire.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, and then if a Libertarian goes well, you know, I think I'd be more effective if I ran as a Republican, because then I'd actually be elected. And if I'm elected, I can create coalitions and get the stuff passed that I think is most important. And that's what like Mike Lee and Rand Paul and Thomas Massie did before he was primaried. And there is utility in that. Is that for everyone? No. There are some people who want to be libertarian academics and write about things and, you know, be part of the intelligentsia and move the needle through articles and conversation as opposed to policy. And there are ways of influencing policy without being elected. And then you have the Libertarian Party, and it's almost like they've just given up. And it's just a bunch of people sitting around going, actually, yeah, actually. And I get attacked by those people for not being libertarian enough. And I'm like, Bro, I'm 53 years old. Do you think I really give a shit about your purity test? Absolutely not. Like, at this point, I am trying to figure out, like, what does full happiness look like? What does fully integrated happiness look like with my family, with my fiance, with my friends, with people at work? I guarantee you, it does not look like me going to the well of other people's opinion, trying to make sure that my opinions dovetail with theirs. I don't give a shit. That does not enter into my sphere of happiness, which has taken time to
Tyrus
build because that's, you know, 53 is 50 in general. I think it changes the way you just kind of look at the world. Like, I think your 30s, 20s and 30s, you're trying to prove yourself, you know, and then 40, you're kind of looking at. You do an assessment. Yeah. Of where you're at, you know, and then that some people go through that midlife crisis because, like, I had all these lofty goals and I haven't accomplished any or I got here.
Greg Gutfeld
But now what?
Tyrus
Now what? You know, and then you get to 50 and you're like, you know, today, if I can get some sun on my face and just have a little bit of quiet, it's a good day.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
You know, like your priorities change, you know, and then you're like, hey, the people that are still here with me through this crazy journey, I'm going to focus on them. I'm going to, you know, like, suddenly working 90 hours a week just doesn't have the same hit to it anymore.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
I rather work 35 hours a week and, and see. And just be around. I don't have to be in events. I don't have to plan giant things like, oh, we need to go on monster vacations or I need to have giant parties or I need like something. It's like, no quiet evening, a quiet weekend. There's so much power in that. And I think, I think for me, that was like, I'm happy I got older. When I see guys my age still trying to be young, I just kind of go like, man, you can't get it back and you're missing out on what you've. What you've got. I get. We can always want, you know, like, the divorce rate seems to be really high for guys my age. It's like they. I hear a lot from. I'll talk to guys and they'll be like, what happened? Well, you know, me and my wife just didn't know each other anymore.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And you know, you hear that a lot and it's like. Or you get to a point where you did a lot of things in life and you want to kind of be free of like the responsibility of this mistakes you made to get where you're at. And your partner is like, no, I kind of went through it and now it's time for you to make up for that. And I think a lot of men kind of go like, eh, I'd rather start over, you know, And I don't knock them. But it's like if you. When you get to a certain age, I. You want you focus is more on redemption and trying to leave the place better than when you got there. So maybe for some of us, it's an apology tour for the dumbness of our 30s or. Or, like, trying to own our own. Our things or focusing more on our kids because you were gone a lot, and you have to reconnect, and sometimes it's difficult because they're like, no, you've been gone.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And so you're not. I'm not just gonna. Just like, oh, hey, Dad's back. You know, it's like, you're gonna have to earn it. And I think a lot of men struggle with that. That fight when they get a little bit older, so they want to go back. And then you see the hair dye or the trips to the. To the youth doctor. You know, the. It's the plugs and the.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, a lot of men going to turkey.
Tyrus
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And. Or. Or, you know, the testosterone replacement therapy and, like, all these things because, you know, the traps aren't what they used to be. Actually. They're still not bad. But I think a lot of that. And maybe it's just because I. My life as an athlete and stuff. Once you accept the change you kind of look at, you don't have to. You don't have to recapture your youth.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
Because you're gonna miss out on the best part of your life.
Greg Gutfeld
I know. The present.
Tyrus
The present. And it's like perspective. Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Like, the perspective is so incredibly valuable because you learn. Like, perspective allows you to let go of the stuff that really you allowed to bother you for, you know, a good two decades. And I agree with you. In your 30s and 40s, like, you. You really do. You hold on to something, an ideal for yourself or, you know, projections of what other people think you should be. And when you have perspective and you're like, you give yourself a little bit of credit for where you actually are, then it's like, that's where mindfulness comes in.
Tyrus
And being in the moment sometimes in spite of yourself.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Like, I did a. Like, I've done a really good job of, like, myself. Over.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And now I'm not. So I don't want that guy back.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
You know, and I. I never. But the one thing that I have learned and you're kind of the same way is like, we will present something, but, like, I won't try to force anybody to agree with me or take on my thought process. You know, like, everyone's journey's different. But, like, when you. We meet people, you debate or you're on shows, and someone has a different perspective. When we go to a commercial break, it's over.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
I'M like, hey, you know what? Like, you really need to think a
Greg Gutfeld
little more like me.
Tyrus
Yeah. Like, what is wrong with this guy?
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, my God. Like, I don't need people to agree with me. Like, I'm good if. If they don't. And I'm happy if we can have a conversation and people listen for a little while, but it's like, you can go on your way. And I'm. I'm stoked for you. Like, if you have a completely different worldview, I don't know what is informed, that I don't know where you're from, what your childhood was like, if you had trauma, like, if you found success late in life, that's amazing. And all of that informs your politics. But we are more than just our politics, isn't it?
Tyrus
Don't you like it when someone disagrees with you? Like, you say your piece, and maybe you get a little. And then it's over. And then there's that. They're ma. It's personal.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And, like, they. It's very personal for them. Because then afterwards, you're like, oh, hey, man, had a good shot. Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Like, you know. You know, and then, like, you're just like, no, man, I wasn't trying to, like, hey, like, I'm more. I'm checking my phone to see if I missed a. A FaceTime from one of my kids.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
You know, or I got a message from my wife or something I forgot to do that week. That's more on my mind. When the show's over, they're like, oh, man, you know. You know, Will Kane's pissed at me because, you know, I didn't agree with him on fiscal responsibility.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Son of a bit. You know, like, if I ever see him again in the hallway. But that is a real thing. But maybe that's just longevity, you know, like, you've seen it all. Is there anything, like, what's the most
Greg Gutfeld
surprising thing for you now? It's like, everything comes back around. And, you know, it's like, that is the point of Dana Perino's first two books. Like, everything's going to be okay. But you don't know that when you're in your first work crisis or your first existential crisis, like, or your first personal meltdown. What am I doing with my life? And, you know, it's like, my older daughter who is going into her senior year in college, it's like, that is really starting to sink in with her. And, you know, it's like, everything's going to be okay. Because she'll figure it out. She will figure it out. She'll figure that out.
Tyrus
You got to figure it out for her. You let it.
Greg Gutfeld
No, that is. That is hers. Like, this is her journey. She's. And if she asked me for input, like, I'll give her input. Like, I'll tell her what I've been through, I'll tell her what I think she's good at, and she has to figure that out. And last night she was like, can I ask you a favor? Will you come with me to a couple different cities for the weekend just to see if I think it would be a cool place to live and get a job? I'm like, absolutely. That sounds amazing.
Tyrus
Yeah, that is cool.
Greg Gutfeld
That is something that is a conversation I did not anticipate, but that I love. And she's got to pick the cities. Like, she's got to do the investigation. But if she wants me there with her, like, I would be super stoked for.
Tyrus
That's a lot better than getting a text message three months later going, I'm in Chicago, and I don't think this is working out. You know? Then you're on rescue mission.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah,
Tyrus
I just. When. Because I think about, like, my. I started late, so all my kids are kind of like, they're still too young. You know, they're still kind of figuring everything out when you. Because you had so much fame, but, like, motherhood was more important than any of it, I kind of feel. But, like, if your kids came to you tomorrow and, like, hey, I think I want to get into. I want to do what you did,
Greg Gutfeld
I would be shocked, because neither of them have ever leaned into that. And so when my older daughter went to college, I was like, they've got a great journalism school, if you want to go there. And she's like, no, I really have no desire. I'm like, cool. Awesome.
Tyrus
Doesn't bother you in the least?
Greg Gutfeld
No, absolutely not. No. Because I think they see all of it, but they see the most important thing to me from work are the friendships that I have.
Tyrus
Okay.
Greg Gutfeld
You know, and it's like. And I love the conversations. I love the conversations because I'll come home and we'll talk about stories, we'll talk about news, we'll talk about politics, and just, like, the insane stuff that's happening in. And make fun of it and try and make sense of it. But it's like, they also see the creepy comments that I get on Instagram and.
Tyrus
Right. And it's just like, yeah, yeah, yeah. There's A lot of the, you know, because one of the. I'm sure you get this because you do your live shows.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes.
Tyrus
And they're. They're. I know, they're hilarious. People will come up to me when I do meet and greets and stuff, and they'll be like, tyrus, what are
Podcast Host
we going to do?
Tyrus
You know, like, how are we doomed? Is this country doomed? And I'm like, no, watch Archie Bunker. Watch all in the Family. Watch any News feed from the 70s.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
This has happened before.
Greg Gutfeld
This is Walter Cronkite delivering to the nation that the President has just been killed. That's some heavy stuff. And our nation, we were in the middle of a really gnarly racial time when that happened. There was so much uncertainty in this country. And, you know, and we, a hundred years earlier, had survived a civil war.
Tyrus
Right. Yeah, but. And when I look at the thing, it was like free love and, you know, it was all the same argument. The, you know, the environment and, you know, the man, the patriarchy, you know, like, all the. All that stuff was already happened. Like, all this isn't new.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Like, they changed the name Woke. And like, all this stuff, the weird stuff, I think it gets heightened because, like, the. You no longer had to, like, gain a following. You didn't. Like the. You didn't go to each city and have meetings and pick and build momentum. And then all of a sudden you had this group and you guys showed up in Washington, D.C. to protest. Now it's all like, whoever can say the weirdest, wildest shit on social media. So it's a lot easier to get duped into thinking people. Because people like dumpster fires, they like reality tv. And the weirder you are and the wilder it is, they'll be like, oh, it's real. Retweet this guy. Let's listen to this guy. Let's listen to this guy.
Greg Gutfeld
The summer house reunions on, like, yeah.
Tyrus
You know what I'm saying?
Greg Gutfeld
It's gonna get slapped.
Tyrus
And it's not the same. It's not the same strength.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And then people see them like, oh, you know what's happening? No, it's happening in the camera in somebody's house that in any other situation, there would just be someone at Walmart. You decide not to go down that aisle on.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Like, oh, that. Okay. They're having a moment. And so when I hear people ask me that, I'm like, it's fine. You know, Data, everything's going to be okay.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
It's just. This is what Young people finding themselves because a lot of those hippies cut their hair, got a job.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And are very conservative now because they want to know where their tax dollars. Or they become libertarians. Where they're like. Because here's the one thing I think I don't really fit into one category because I just kind of look around my thing. But I know one thing that I'm all for is smaller government and less taxes. I think that is a no brainer. So when I hear people say, like, we need to tax the rich, I'm like, no, no, no. You just don't, you're not. Have been affected by anything.
Greg Gutfeld
But that's so, that's so dishonest. It's like the rich are being taxed.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
They yell like the top 1% is carrying 40% of the tax burden. That's not fair. Like, that is patently unfair. Maybe if you spent less money, you would have to tax the middle class less.
Tyrus
When I see someone with an iPhone complaining about how hard the world is, I don't.
Greg Gutfeld
I'm like, look at homeless people in New York City.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Like, God bless the, the nonprofits who go out and get them clothes and socks and backpacks and shelter and tents because we have the nicest dressed homeless people in the entire world.
Tyrus
Right. And none of them seeing ribs.
Greg Gutfeld
No, no. They, they, they all managed to get.
Tyrus
I have been in situ and again, I'm not. I have.
Greg Gutfeld
No one's in a caloric deficit.
Tyrus
Yeah, exactly.
Greg Gutfeld
Except for suburban white women.
Tyrus
Yes. And that's on purpose. But I've yet to see. I've even seen things where I've seen someone who's, who's gotten. They've gone into a fast food place and come out with a Coke and a meal and go to present it and they'll be like, I don't eat that.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And I'm just like, I actually. What is that? You know, thank you. You know, but that's because we still live in a country to where if you have it's food is available 24 7, it might not be the food you like, but it is available. And there are people everywhere who if you ask for a meal of food.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
This is the one place where you'll get it.
Greg Gutfeld
Absolutely. I mean, it's so funny because mom, Donnie got elected because he was like, we're in a food desert. It's like, this is not rural North Dakota. Like, we are not in a food desert.
Tyrus
No.
Greg Gutfeld
You cannot swing a dead cat without hitting a bodega. A grocery Store, a soup kitchen. Like, it is. It is all here. It is plentiful. It is abundant. Like, the amount of food that gets thrown away in this city is because
Tyrus
of codes and standards. If I was. Like I said, if I was down on my luck, I would hang out by a McDonald's or Burger King. Actually, I've been in that situation. When you see the stuff that's aged out and they're like, hey, before they go, hey, I'll take it, you know, And. And they'll be like, yeah, again, life sucks. And life is beautiful and hard times are hard. And I think everyone has. If you've never had to been in Miss Meal Cramps. If you've never been in a situation, you're like, do I pay the light bill? Do I pay the. The gas bill? Or like, hey, I can't pay rent. Like. Like, those are horrible feelings, you know? Or worse, your relationship didn't work out. You get kicked out, or mom kicked you out, and there's that first night where you don't have a roof over your head. And I've never been in a situ. I've been in that situation as a young man. But when you have children, I can't. Like, that has got to be a horrible. That is a tough place. But if you're going through that and you happen to live in this country and you are one conversation, you are one opportunity away from changing that. And that's the beautiful thing about our country. Opposed to other places, we don't know what poverty is until you've been to a place. Like, you've seen places like Africa, where you've been to places where there ain't. You're there.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. I'll never forget the first time I drove through Tijuana. And that was the first time.
Tyrus
You know what? Yeah. I think I was 16. We were going to Tijuana because you got. You could get tequila there, but they don't. No one explains to you the worm and how horrible. Horrible Rosarito was where we were all going out by the beach. You get all the beer you want, they'll come up to you.
Greg Gutfeld
Lobsters for 10 bucks.
Tyrus
Lobsters, tequila and Corona or whatever.
Greg Gutfeld
The funny thing is, you can't go to Rosarito beach anymore.
Tyrus
You can't? No.
Greg Gutfeld
It's like, super dangerous.
Tyrus
Well, yeah, because I just remember lying there telling myself, if I make it home, I'm never drinking again. Like, I just. Just need to get home. Like, snotball crying. Like, this was bad. This was bad. Whose idea was it to eat the worm. Like, yeah. You don't come back from that. And that's a whole different kind of throw up. You are happy getting it out of your system.
Greg Gutfeld
That is the cyclospora that we're going through right now with the poop. Lettuce.
Tyrus
Yes, yes. And I had an interesting. I had an interesting theory on that, because everyone was blaming President Trump for lettuce, and I was like, cool. So he let lettuce in the country and we're all sick, so he should pay for it. So what should Biden have to pay for? For who? He lettuce into this country. You know, so. But yeah, wash it. The thing about a lot of Americans were like, so don't eat salad. Cool. You know, like, because we have so many other options. But it is. But Mexico, when in LA, like, you go to San Diego and, like, you're 16 and.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Growing up in California, they did not mess around. If you try to go on a bar or a beer run and you got caught, you were getting real consequences. But Mexico was right there.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And they saw us coming.
Greg Gutfeld
No, they're waving you in.
Tyrus
Oh, yeah. Yeah. And then, you know, like, we kept seeing the donkeys outside the bar. And my natural instinct was like, no, good for you. Not going in. I'm. You know what? I'm going back. I'm good. I have just peed out £16 and I am now in the best shape of my life. I'm going home. Tequila was Ozempic before Ozempic. Like, if you drank two bottles when you were. It was like, whoosh.
Greg Gutfeld
Maybe a GLP one is really just a tequila worm ground up.
Tyrus
And, yeah, one of the most disgusting. Put no vial, no innocent soul like yourself dabble down in Tijuana. Or was it.
Greg Gutfeld
No, I was with my dad and my brothers on spring break.
Tyrus
Okay. You were not a young ruffian.
Greg Gutfeld
No, no, I never went to Tijuana as. As like a. A party girl. I was with my dad. Like, we had gone to Six Flags and then drove all the way down the California coast. Yeah. And then, you know, made it to Rosarito beach in Tijuana. I was like, oh, this is cool. And then I remember seeing the little roadside shanties, and I was like, oh, my God.
Tyrus
Yeah, life gets real, you know? You said Six Flags. It was Magic Mountain. Do you remember Twickets? No.
Greg Gutfeld
It's Twickets.
Tyrus
You were like, when you could find them, you get it stamped. You come back to the park the next day for free.
Podcast Host
No.
Tyrus
Oh, that was my whole Summer, we would.
Greg Gutfeld
So, like, someone would drop a ticket, and if it wasn't stamped, you could bring it back.
Tyrus
Like, people. You would get there, your mom would pay for that. You get dropped off, or you take the rough, tough and dangerous, and you get over there and you get in. So you only had to buy your ticket one time. And then you take that ticket and you get the twig it and you get it stamped. You come back. Then you come back the next day, and you spend your first hour blocking the ground or walking behind families.
Greg Gutfeld
And eventually someone drops something.
Tyrus
And then I got to the point where by the third week, I was like, hey, can I get your twig? Because then you get a stamp and you just keep coming back and coming back and coming back. And eventually it gets to the point where they're like, hey, man, like, do you work here?
Greg Gutfeld
Why do I recognize you?
Tyrus
And you didn't go for the. I didn't go for the rides. We did them every once in a while. We went there trying to meet girls, of course. And I was horrible at it. My success rate was terrible. I did not meet one other than like, sup? Hey, you know? Like, hey, you know. And then you would find another girl who you think liked you, but she was there for your twigging. So then you find it. Be like, here, you can have it. Thanks, Bye. Deuces. Like, as if. That was the worst. That was worse than the N word to me when I was a kid. As if, you know, like, hey, maybe we could get a funnel cake or you want to go do teacups or do revolution? As if.
Greg Gutfeld
Ew.
Tyrus
Yeah. Apparently. Yeah. It just wasn't. I look back at some of the outfit choices I had as a young man, and it was not. I was kind of stuck between MTV parachute pants.
Greg Gutfeld
Yep.
Tyrus
And tiger shirts.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, yeah.
Tyrus
And color wasn't a. I don't know who my designer was back then, but.
Greg Gutfeld
But that's good because it set you up for success later in life because you have to try so hard.
Tyrus
Yeah. Parachute pants. They need to make something with the crotcher region. That material was not made because it always ripped.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, no.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
Remember Lenny Kravitz?
Tyrus
Yeah. Well, he. He. He didn't have a problem with. He was Lenny friggin Kravitz. I didn't like him because he.
Greg Gutfeld
But his pleather rib, he was like
Tyrus
one of the light skinned mixed guys that it worked for. I kind of was like, I had to grow into it. Just, you know when people said things like, hey, is your dad Andre The Giant. You weren't getting a lot of dates or, like, is your dad Lou Ferrigno? And I realized what did Lou Ferrigno and Andre or James Earl Jones. They all had really big foreheads and eyebrows. And so, like, you.
Greg Gutfeld
And you're like, big bank accounts to match those foreheads.
Tyrus
Yes, they did. But at the time at Six Flags, it was. It was not the business. It was always, like, the cool guy, like, with who had, like, kind of looked like Depeche Mode, seemed to be a Flock of Seagulls. Those guys seemed to, like, rein it in. Or brothers who look like, might had the Michael Jackson jacket with the Jordans. They had it. They were winning.
Greg Gutfeld
The rich bosses of the world.
Tyrus
Yes, those. Yeah. Maybe that's why I didn't like him. I don't even know how to end this, because talking to you is so cool. Because you lived through every kind of. The 80s, you handled it the 90s, you handled it the thousands. And then now you're like. Now you're at this mountain of wisdom, and you're one of the most funnest people to work with. Not just that, because I also know that whenever Kennedy's on, it's go time. Like, you gotta bring your A game up. Like, you will get eaten up. Not in a rough way. It's just you're. And if you're not gonna bring it, you're like, hey, you gotta keep up. And that's. I love the fact that it's not a. It's a competition, but it's. It's fun. It's like, what is Kennedy gonna do? What am. You know, and you kind of, like watching you go, then I got it. Like, okay, cool. And you kind of set the bar, and it's like. It's just been an absolute pleasure from the. From the.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, I have so much fun. I feel so lucky to work with you.
Tyrus
It's just an absolute blast. I really enjoy, and I. I am so happy for you. Thank you. And your, you know, your nuptials are getting ready to come. I'll be on tour, but shout out to you and your family and just the fact that you are. One of the stories that, like, people only want to do the dark side of entertainment. I hope at some point they do a series where they talk about people who came in the entertainment industry and left it a better place when they're done. And I think you should be the first person on that show.
Greg Gutfeld
Kyrus, you're the best. Thank you.
Tyrus
I'm all right. But no, you're I wish I had
Greg Gutfeld
a cocktail that I could have because
Tyrus
now I have to get ready for the Gut Feel show. And tonight we do not have you on, so. Or do we? No, no, you're actually. I'm sure you're somewhere. You know, people. A quick plug, tour dates. I know you got some coming up.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, I've got Tacoma, Washington in August. And I will be in Appleton, Wisconsin for five shows this weekend. I don't know when this comes out, but before that.
Tyrus
And then your awesome podcast.
Greg Gutfeld
Yes. Kennedy saves the world five days a week. Fox News Podcast, Spotify, Apple, YouTube.
Tyrus
Yep. We're all in the same. In the same genre.
Greg Gutfeld
Exactly.
Tyrus
And then of course, you're a staple on Outnumbered. You're a staple on Gutfield, you're a staple on five, America's newsroom. We've tag teamed there a few times, so pretty much 24. 7. You're around. So you know where to catch her. And again, enjoy. Honeymoon. Any plans?
Greg Gutfeld
We're gonna honeymoon in a couple months.
Tyrus
You're smart. Spread it out. Have you picked the location yet?
Greg Gutfeld
We're going to Africa. We're gonna go on safari.
Tyrus
Oh. Enjoy it.
Greg Gutfeld
Thank you.
Tyrus
Enjoy it. And if you get a chance, I'll ask my buddy Paul Lloyd. I wrestled with him. He was PJ in Justin Gabriel in the wwe. He is from South Africa. And he. When we went out to wrestle and tour in Africa, he brought me to. He has friends. And we went swimming with great white sharks.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, wow.
Tyrus
In the cage.
Greg Gutfeld
That's intense.
Tyrus
And then he took me to this lion. It was a predator refugee where they were. They were the last place where you'd see the white lions.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And they would be set up and then they had cheetahs, wild dogs. Wild dogs. Was the funniest ones.
Greg Gutfeld
Wild. They have such a little yip.
Tyrus
Yeah.
Greg Gutfeld
They sound so innocent and sweet and cute. They will rip your arm off and crunch it in half. And a millisecond, they.
Tyrus
The people that were running the reserve said, you can never tame them.
Greg Gutfeld
No.
Tyrus
They were trying to eat us. He was. I raised them from pups.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
Never. The cheetahs, on the other hand. They're little whores. Attention whores. And they got the same kind of. And they'll just, you know, and like you can feed them and play with them. And they were really cool. My whole thing was that the lions, because they had. Each one had like their own pride. They had it all set up. And I had one of my favorite movies of all time is to walk with lions. And on that. And that movie is a story of. You remember Elsa the Lion. I'm sure you read that book or Born Free. You know, everyone cried Born Free. The. The joy. I think his name George. Yeah, he was. He started. Him and his brother, they started a huge wildlife preserve for lions. And like, he was. And he was actually murdered by poachers. But he would walk with lions, like, literally. And he would sit on top of a hill with his young male lions and he had this thing. He'd be like, who's king of the land? I am. And he would do it like them. And they would do it back. Oh, yeah. And like. And the lions would do it back. When I got there, I looked at Justin, I said, just, can we stop the thing right here? And I was. And this big, big male lion was sitting on the rock and I was like, who's king of the land? I was like, oh, yeah. And I was doing it for like, he's like, what are you doing? It's like. And the lion, he did it back. And we're going back and forth. He was like, this is awesome. But like, where. How did you know? And I was explaining it to him and he's like, the man was a criminal. Like, he didn't have the same regard over there. But like, that to me was like. And I. Whenever I see a lion, I just do it, you know, whenever I get the zoos and stuff. But like, if you got. I don't know what part of Africa you're going to be, but if you are in South Africa, let me know because that you have to do. If you don't do the lion preserve, the little cubs are cool. But you also realize real quick that they are not the ones at the mall. Like, the little lions are playing with you that you get to see.
Greg Gutfeld
They can still eat your face.
Tyrus
But they're also being groomed to go back in the wild. So they're not like, they're with mom and they come out, they're testing you. Yeah, they're, they're, they're, they. But to be in a cage and to be looking off in the water and you're like, well, I would see this big 15 foot thing and then all of a sudden it's right there, the black eyes right there. And you're like, how did I not you?
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
I learned real quick that all of this is just a fancy barbecue. I wouldn't have had. I wouldn't have known until I was being digested that I got hit. Because when they. You just can't see them.
Greg Gutfeld
Well, slow being saucy.
Tyrus
Yeah. Like you on the helicopter and you look down, you see the whale. Like, wow. And then you see a person walking on the beach. And eight feet away in the water is a 13 foot great white shark just cruising. Dude has no idea. Absolutely no clue. And I'm like, oh. And then you jump in that cage, naked and afraid is not the right term. But like, you just kind of realize that, like, we are not at the top of the food chain.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah. We are part of the circle of life. Like, we fit into it, but we are not where we've always esteemed.
Tyrus
I'm telling you, when the. When the bait fish swam by, I was like, oh, hey, hey, guys. And they're like. Like they just kind of. They just were like they didn't care. But like, even them, I was like, oh, that's the most dangerous looking bait fish I've ever seen in my life. And then it's just there.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
And like the second time it came around and then, I don't know, I was going through a weird period in my life and I was like, I didn't come here to just see a shark, a great white shark. I'm never going to do this again, you know? And it's. They're like, everyone's there and you can see the cage. And you could. And as she came by, this big girl came by like two or three times. She was checking me out, probably because I looked very much in the wetsuit, like a food item. Like, here's this chubby sea lion who's suddenly in a cage. And she kept kind of coming back. And I just said, it started out slow, like. And I reached across and I touched her and I felt and like, her. The eyeball went white. Like, rolled over. And as she kind of went by and I like, put my hand in for like, it was like maybe seemed like forever. It was probably maybe three or four seconds. I felt like sandpaper and soft. And then she just kind of jetted off. And I was like, yeah. And I turn and looked in the.
Greg Gutfeld
She let you touch her. You know that, right? Like, she let you do that.
Tyrus
The guide was like, it were underwater. But I heard, are you out of your mind? Get out. Like, he's like, he's like, you can't touch. Like, you could lose your arm. You could lose your. You put everybody in danger. And I was just like, you only live.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, exactly. And it's like. But I really feel like you can make a connection with animals like that.
Tyrus
And I went back and not everyone should do it. And I was just like this. And then she kind of came back a few more times and then eventually they realized there's no more tuna heads and they swim off and I'm sitting on the boat ride back and everyone's like, yo, what happened? And I was just like, man, I, I'm good. Like, if this would have ended today at that time I didn't have kids or anything. So it was like, not that. No, wait, not. You know, it was like, I think the month after that is when all hell broke loose. But it was right before. But it was like one of those things where you just. Yeah, 2011. It was prior to the three children's. But like at that moment in my life I was like, man, this is it. If you guys are there, let me make, let me see if I can gift that for you guys if you're going to be there. Because you. I think they're still, they're still running it.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah.
Tyrus
So it's that you never go out of business and South African shark area with all the fur seals and everything is, that is amazing.
Greg Gutfeld
Like, that is like the concentration of.
Tyrus
But the whales alone are awesome. And then there's, there's, there's these two resident killer whales. There are two brothers that for a while you weren't seeing great whites because they were hunting them. So it's an amazing thing. So if you guys are out there, just let me know where you're gonna be and I'll ask, I'll ask my buddy Paul. Thank you that you guys. And then you can come back and be like, I had to.
Greg Gutfeld
I touched her.
Tyrus
Yeah, it's pretty awesome. But again, I know you have a million things to do and I gotta get ready for gut feel, but thank you. Thank you, Tyrus and congratulations to all your success. Thank you, Tyrus. And thank you for being one of the most friendly, down to earth people that I've ever like. You welcomed me in here with open arms and you've, you've been an ally in this whole process and I think I've passed 10 years here, which is. I don't even know how the hell that happened.
Greg Gutfeld
I can't wait until we're old and sitting in a retirement home going, remember Gutfeld?
Tyrus
And complaining about the people on the show now. These kids don't know shit.
Greg Gutfeld
They don't know nothing. These socialists.
Tyrus
That's not funny. You want to know what funny is? Break up the YouTube. No one has YouTube anymore. I said break it out like sir, no one has YouTube.
Greg Gutfeld
I'm a DVD player now.
Tyrus
I actually wouldn't mind having one of those WI Fi goes out.
Greg Gutfeld
Yeah, yeah.
Tyrus
You're gonna need the DVDs.
Greg Gutfeld
Exactly.
Tyrus
I think I have a box somewhere in my weight in DVD movies because I collected like everyone. Yes, I have boxes.
Greg Gutfeld
I'm sure they're in good condition.
Tyrus
There's somewhere they're available.
Greg Gutfeld
Yep.
Tyrus
If there's a DVD collector and wants to do my podcast, holler at your boy, I probably should have that. Should be some interesting guests.
Greg Gutfeld
Oh, yeah.
Tyrus
Well worth it. All right, Kennedy. Thank you. You're the best. We're on.
Greg Gutfeld
Hey, it's Ryan Reynolds here for Mint Mobile.
Tyrus
Now, I was looking for fun ways
Greg Gutfeld
to tell you that Mint's offer of unlimited Premium Wireless for $15 a month is back. So I thought it would be fun if we made $15 bills, but it turns out that's very illegal, so there
Tyrus
goes my big idea for the commercial.
