Get ready for summer. Buy Nair Body and shower creams now at all major retailers. Hello dear listeners. Seat 4C here, formerly Super Phil Friedel. Welcome back to It Can't Came From Reddit, an auditory exploration into my online obsession of very dramatic audio retellings of stories found on Reddit. Are they true stories? Definitely true, but probably no. But no, they're not. Do I care? Absolutely. I don't in any way, shape or form. I just love hearing wildly theatrical details of a relationship gone wrong. And sorry if factuality is unable to shame me. So now for Pod Meets World, myself and my two beloved co hosts, we've recorded another one of my favorite finds, all done in the style of the videos that now take up 30 to 40% of my free time. Goodbye, productivity forever. And so here is our second installment of It Came From Reddit, a story wonderfully titled My Girlfriend Said I Need Space. Don't Contact Me. I responded, alright. Then I posted the vacation pictures I found of her with another man with while tagging his wife. Suddenly my phone was blowing up with their panicked calls. I'm still reeling from the sheer audacity. Ooh, these things are right to the point, aren't they? Enjoy. And especially enjoy as I get into my Reddit voice. I'm 32, male, let's call me Jonathan. I've always liked that name because of Jonathan Davis from Korn and also, you know, Jonathan from the Bible. It's actually been a full week since I took action and everything exploded. But the whole saga really began about three weeks ago. That's when my girlfriend, Nicole, 29, female, hit me with this bombshell via text.
Host 2
I need space.
Host 1
Of course. We've been together for three years, living in my house, my name, my mortgage. For the last 18 months, things have felt a bit distant, sure, but I thought it was just work stress on her end. The text came on a Saturday morning.
Host 2
Hey, things are feeling really overwhelming for me lately. I think I just need some space to myself to breathe and figure things out. Please don't contact me for a bit. I'll reach out when I'm ready. I hope you understand. Space.
Host 1
Never a good sign, but I'm a rational guy. I wrote back, all right, Nicole, I understand. Take the time you need. Then radio silence. The week that followed was a blur of confusion and hurt. I replayed everything, wondering what I missed. I fast forward another week. I was mindlessly scrolling Facebook and a post from a mutual acquaintance popped up. A surprise romantic getaway album. And there's Nicole, looking far too happy and Cozy with Brandon, 35, male, a married colleague of hers, champagne, hand holding on the beach, matching hats with hers reading where I go, trouble follows. And his just saying trouble. It actually took me a few days to figure out the hats, but all the dates lined up perfectly with her need for space. My stomach churned. Space was a cover for a secret trip with a married man. She hadn't just lied. She orchestrated this, expecting me to be none the wiser. The initial sting of betrayal quickly morphed into a cold, calculated anger. She wanted a consequence free fling, keeping me as her backup plan in my own home. Brandon's wife, Rachel, no idea how old she was, was a lovely woman who deserved to know about these spontaneous adventures. So Saturday morning I got to work and I saved the most damning photos. The hotel room, the selfie, the beach, the hand holding a candlelit dinner shot where his arm was just way too familiar. I crafted a new Facebook post. Short, sharp, to the point. Heard you needed space, Nicole. Looks like you found it. Hope it was worth it. And then I tagged Rachel. Hey, Brandon's wife. Thought you might want to see how your husband spends his business trips. Ooh, truth hurts. I attached the photos. Every single photo. And the aftermath, like crazy. Eddie's prices from the 80s was insane. My phone went into meltdown about 30 minutes after that post went live.
Host 2
Why aren't you picking up? We need to talk. Let's meet at the Fuddruckers, where we spent our third anniversary. I'll be there at 3:30.
Host 1
Then I blocked her on all platforms. Phone, social media, LinkedIn, the landline I still had for some reason. Even my car phone, which hadn't worked since 1996. And I was definitely not going to that. Fuddruckers. Even though they have the world's greatest hamburger, which ranges in price from $9.09 for the third pound version all the way up to 1589 for the one pound version. It's always served with lettuce, tomato and onions on the side. Didn't matter anymore. I wasn't going. But one thing I didn't have to wait for was the chaos to erupt. First, Brandon called in pure panic.
Host 3
Jonathan, what the heck? Take the that down. You have no idea what you're doing. Jonathan, I'm. I'm serious. Jonathan. This is my life, my marriage. Nicole said you were basically over and that you wouldn't care.
Host 1
Jonathan. So Nicole was already spinning tales for her affair partner. Noted. Then Nicole called again. I didn't answer. The terror in her voice was a symphony.
Host 2
Jonathan, what did you do? Are you insane? You've ruined everything.
Host 1
Then another voicemail from Nicole.
Host 2
Brandon is freaking out. Delete that post right now and tell everyone it was a joke. Be like, just kidding, I was high on ketamine.
Host 1
Now with tears.
Host 2
Please, Jonathan, please. My job, Brandon's job, his kids, my Memphis Grizzly season tickets. You have to fix this. I'll do anything. Anything.
Host 1
The description was palpable, but the entitlement was still audible. The expectation that I'd just clean up her mess. Next up, Nicole's best friend, Samantha. Always superficial.
Host 2
Jonathan, that was a really rotten thing to do. Nicole is a mess. People make mistakes. Taking it public and dragging Rachel into it was a low blow.
Host 1
A mistake is forgetting milk or farting in church. Samantha planned a vacation with a married man while lying to me. That's betrayal. Then Nicole's older sister, Pamela.
Host 2
I'm running out of voices. I cannot believe how cruel you are. Nicole is heartbroken. Brandon's wife is going ballistic. Your potential essentially destroying lives. Nicole told me you two were having problems and this is how you react. Text me before you call back. I'm in a movie. Have you seen any Despicable Me movies? They're confusing.
Host 1
Nicole just wasn't getting it. Plus all these girls were starting to sound the same. She was having an affair. My reaction was to not be a doormat. Yeah, I tagged Rachel, but she deserved the truth. And she eventually sent me a brief dm.
Host 2
Oh, come on. Thank You. I don't know all the details from your side, but the pictures speak for themselves. I appreciate you letting me know, I replied.
Host 1
I'm sorry you had to find out this way, Rachel. You deserve better. The Facebook post went viral locally. We're in a small town. Nicole and Brandon were getting roasted. And Nicole still technically had all of her stuff in my house. She's been trying to reach me from burner numbers, alternating between begging and vague threats. Lady, you detonated your own life. Then, five or so days after the post, my doorbell camera dings. It's Nicole, looking like she's been through the wringer. Then the banging starts.
Host 2
Open up, Jonathan. I'm here for my things. And you better not be playing my corn CDs. I know you're in there.
Host 1
I definitely had been playing her corn CDs. After more yelling and some tears, her phone comes out and a car pulls up. Her sister Pamela and their mother Caroline, 60, female, have arrived. I had to see this, so I opened the door immediately.
Host 2
Ryder, you have to do one of these, okay?
Host 3
You can't lock her out. She has belongings in there. We're gonna call the police if you don't let her in. This is harassment.
Host 1
Ooh, that wasn't a very good woman's voice. Police. For changing the locks on my own house after my now ex girlfriend cheated, Be my guest. I slammed the door in their faces. They banged and yelled for another 10 minutes. Nicole wailing dramatically was quite the show for the cul de sac. Especially for Cornelius, our neighbor with the bounce house and no kids. Eventually, they retreated, but soon after their smear campaign kicked into high gear. Mutual acquaintances started contacting me with sob stories fed to them by Nicole's camp.
Host 3
Hey, dude, it's Cornelius. Listen, Nicole called me today and said that you were controlling and you punished her for wanting independence. Anyway, if you want to come over and get your bounce house on, I'll be home till six.
Host 1
Man, that guy gives me the creeps. I'd let them talk, giving only a few key people the truth with a link to my original post. Then came the nasty stuff. First, a call from my boss.
Host 3
Hey, Jonathan. An anonymous party emailed HR today claiming that you were unstable, prone to violent outbursts, and creating a hostile work environment by publicly harassing Brandon in sales. They even implied that you might be misusing sensitive company data.
Host 1
Thankfully, my boss knows me, but I know you.
Host 3
Nothing to worry about. Hey, let me know if you're going to hit up Cornelius for bounce house later. Peace.
Host 1
Still never figured out how he met that guy.
Host 2
Hi, it's Danielle Fishel from Pod Meets World and I have a confession to make. I am officially tech jealous of my children. We just got the Samsung Galaxy Watch for kids and now they are the one giving me tips on how to use smart devices. Honestly, it's the perfect first tech option for your kid if you're not ready to hand them a smartphone. And really, who is? I still know adults who shouldn't have one. Galaxy Watch 4 Kids is smart, safe and super easy to use. They can call and text yes from their wrist like a mini secret agent. And the best part? I get to decide who they talk to. Which means their BFF from preschool who once ate glue is not on the list. And let's talk about location sharing. I can open my phone and know if my kid's at soccer practice or if they've wandered off to stare at vending machines in the hallway again. Plus I get alerts if they leave a zone I set. It's like having eyes in the back of my my app. They can even track their activities with a few taps, whether they're dancing, hula hooping or doing that thing where they run in circles just to burn off post snack energy. And yes, the watch supports age appropriate content on Google Play, which means games and apps that don't make me want to throw the tablet out a window. Best of all, and this is clutch, I can turn on Do Not Disturb mode from my phone so when it's time for homework or school, boom. Distraction's gone. It's like parenting with a remote control. Then someone reported my car abandoned in front of my own home. I cleared it up with a quick phone call, but still very Tom Petty. And then Nicole demanded a share of the house. She even paid a lawyer to call and say she invested emotionally and did household upkeep. So she's part owner. I remember one time she bought some bread for sandwiches. I paid the mortgage and all the bills, but still. The lawyer suggested she was owed $50,000 for pain and suffering and loss of residence. I laughed and I saved the voicemail. Their entitlement and dirty tricks were beyond belief. It was time for a more robust response. Step one. My lawyer sent a cd which I thought was music. Turned out to be a cease and desist to her entire family. It detailed their harassment, defamation, and warned them any further contact or attempts to damage my reputation would result in immediate legal action. We attached all their texts and voicemails and to me. Nice. We said she can provide a list of her personal belongings she left behind and a third party, not family, can collect them from the curb at an appointed time. They'll be in garbage bags and anything not claimed within seven days will be disposed of. The outrage from Carolyn was apparently epic.
Host 2
You can't do that. Garbage bags. What if you break her things?
Host 1
Step three, the knockout punch. Rachel filed for divorce, naming Nicole in the act of adultery.
Host 2
Boom.
Host 1
Public record. I offered Rachel all my evidence for the case when Brandon claimed he was the victim, but that was never needed. Brandon's reportedly sleeping on his brother's couch and his career was torched. The conservative company he worked for was not amused by the scandal. And Rachel, still don't know how old she is, is taking him to the cleaners. Nicole is locally unemployable because of my post, and thanks to my cease and desist letters, they stop with the demands. They wanted war, they got a precision strike. And then, after a few months of sweet, sweet silence, Nicole eventually sent that list of her belongings to a lawyer. It was ridiculously long, including things I'd bought for the house years before her.
Host 2
I would like to get back my jewelry box, the china we got from Uncle Stedman, the die cast Miata in our bathroom, and the ALF box set. Or at least just the first season.
Host 1
I boxed it all, even though she didn't ask for them. I included Every self help book. She had the irony. It was delicious. I left the bag out on the curb and watched her pick them up from my window. She looked like Nick Nolte's mugshot. Meanwhile, Rachel's divorce from Brandon was proceeding. Apparently my evidence was helpful in her securing a favorable settlement. Which doesn't make any sense when just a few paragraphs back, I said it wasn't necessary. Brandon is financially wrecked, reputationally ruined. Last I heard, he fled the state to live with his parents and was dressing up as Steve Buscemi for kids parties, which can't be a profitable career. And Nicole. Oh, sweet Nicole. Consequences hit her hard. Jobless, disgraced, living with mommy. Her attempts to play the victim blew up. Once the affairs details in Rachel's divorce filings went online. She deleted most of her social media. Her friends bailed when she became a broke, unemployed pariah. A mutual acquaintance with a bounce house told me Nicole complained that I should have warned her about the severity of the consequences. What? The sheer unadulterated audacity. As if her actions were fine and only my reaction was the issue. Some people are incapable of self reflection. My life is now peaceful. The house feels like mine again. I've been redecorating, purging her lingering influence. It feels good. The true revenge wasn't just the Facebook post. It was every methodical step. I didn't set out to destroy lives. I protected my peace and exposed a betrayal. They found out I'm a strategist. I sleep very well at night. Good riddance to Nicole, Brandon and all their enablers. They got everything they truly deserved. And so did I. Now, if you'll excuse me, Cornelius is throwing a party and that bounce house won't bounce itself. Wow.

Podcast Summary: Pod Meets World – "It Came From Reddit: My Girlfriend Said 'I Need Space'"
Introduction
In the June 20, 2025 episode of Pod Meets World, hosted by iHeartPodcasts, Danielle, Will, and Rider delve into a dramatic and captivating Reddit story titled "My Girlfriend Said 'I Need Space'." This episode takes listeners on an emotional rollercoaster, exploring themes of betrayal, revenge, and personal empowerment. Through engaging storytelling and insightful commentary, the hosts dissect the complexities of relationships and the consequences of drastic actions taken in the heat of emotional turmoil.
The Reddit Story: "My Girlfriend Said 'I Need Space'"
Jonathan’s Breaking Point
The story begins with Jonathan, a 32-year-old man who has been in a three-year relationship with his girlfriend, Nicole, aged 29. Living together under Jonathan's roof and sharing financial responsibilities, things have recently felt distant. On a seemingly ordinary Saturday morning at [05:22], Jonathan receives a text from Nicole:
Nicole [05:22]: "I need space."
Confused and hurt, Jonathan responds with understanding:
Jonathan [05:23]: "Of course. We've been together for three years, living in my house, my name, my mortgage. For the last 18 months, things have felt a bit distant, sure, but I thought it was just work stress on her end."
Discovery of the Affair
As weeks pass under Nicole's request for space, Jonathan remains in a state of confusion and hurt. His breakthrough comes three weeks later when he stumbles upon a Facebook album showcasing vacation pictures of Nicole with another man, Brandon, who is married. The realization hits hard as he pieces together the timeline:
Jonathan [07:53]: "I'm still reeling from the sheer audacity."
Jonathan’s Retaliatory Post
Feeling betrayed and angry, Jonathan crafts a bold Facebook post, tagging Brandon’s wife, Rachel, to expose Nicole’s infidelity:
Jonathan [05:37]: "Hey, things are feeling really overwhelming for me lately. I think I just need some space to myself to breathe and figure things out. Please don't contact me for a bit. I'll reach out when I'm ready."
After posting evidence of the affair, the aftermath is immediate and chaotic:
Jonathan [07:46]: "Why aren't you picking up? We need to talk. Let's meet at the Fuddruckers, where we spent our third anniversary. I'll be there at 3:30."
Confrontations and Escalations
Nicole and her associates react vehemently to the public exposure. Friends and family members reach out with varying degrees of confrontation and support, further escalating the situation:
Samantha [09:29]: "Jonathan, that was a really rotten thing to do. Nicole is a mess. People make mistakes."
As the conflict intensifies, Nicole attempts to reclaim her belongings, leading to a dramatic showdown at Jonathan’s home involving her sister Pamela and their mother Caroline:
Pamela [11:24]: "You have to do one of these, okay?"
Caroline [11:28]: "You can't lock her out. She has belongings in there. We're gonna call the police if you don't let her in."
Jonathan stands his ground, ultimately leading to legal actions and public fallout:
Jonathan [19:40]: "Rachel filed for divorce, naming Nicole in the act of adultery."
Consequences and Closure
The meticulously planned retaliation results in mutual destruction. Brandon’s career and marriage fall apart, while Nicole faces unemployment and social ostracization. Jonathan finalizes his peace by reclaiming his home and moving forward:
Jonathan [20:33]: "The true revenge wasn't just the Facebook post. It was every methodical step. I didn't set out to destroy lives. I protected my peace and exposed a betrayal."
Hosts' Insights and Reflections
Throughout the episode, Danielle, Will, and Rider provide insightful commentary on the dynamics of Jonathan and Nicole’s relationship. They explore the psychological motivations behind Jonathan's drastic actions and discuss the ethical implications of public revenge:
Will [22:34]: "If multitasking were an Olympic sport, I would have a gold medal. But Jonathan’s situation raises questions about the boundaries of personal retaliation."
Danielle reflects on the complexity of emotions involved in breakups and the fine line between seeking peace and seeking revenge:
Danielle [16:35]: "Sometimes, protecting your peace requires making tough decisions, but where do we draw the line before it becomes harmful to others?"
Rider adds a strategic perspective, analyzing Jonathan’s methodical approach to reclaiming his life post-conflict:
Rider [20:33]: "Jonathan's actions, while extreme, highlight the importance of setting boundaries and taking control of one’s narrative after betrayal."
Conclusion
The episode culminates with Jonathan finding peace and reclaiming his life, free from the turmoil that Nicole's actions had caused. The hosts emphasize the importance of self-respect and strategic thinking in the aftermath of a toxic relationship. They leave listeners pondering the balance between seeking justice and falling into the trap of revenge, ultimately advocating for personal growth and healing.
Jonathan [20:33]: "I sleep very well at night. Good riddance to Nicole, Brandon, and all their enablers. They got everything they truly deserved. And so did I."
Pod Meets World successfully weaves a gripping narrative with thoughtful analysis, providing a comprehensive exploration of a tumultuous relationship and its fallout. This episode not only entertains but also offers valuable lessons on handling betrayal and the pursuit of personal peace.
