Rider Strong
Welcome to Pod meets Twirled, a podcast that somehow began with Dancing with the Stars, continued through Castles, Traitors and Strategic Deception. And because our producers, along with many of our listeners, apparently Enjoy watching two confused middle aged men struggle through wildly successful reality television. We have now arrived at a place neither of us understands. Bravo. Specifically in the city. Now, usually these shows involve a game, a competition, a cash prize, a goal. But this show's different. No challenges, no murder mysteries, no judges, no dance scores. Just wealthy adults attending parties, drinking, dating, and keeping tabs on one another. We are Rider Strong, a man who generally prefers stories with structured themes and an ending, and Will Friedle, who was told that there would at least be some humor among the cocktails and betrayals. Join us as we enter this world of social warfare, passive aggression, luxury apartments and confessionals delivered with the gravity of international diplomacy. This is pod meets twirled metropolitan mess. And boy, it's getting messy, Will.
Will Friedle
Yes. Yes, it is.
Rider Strong
Lines are being drawn. Are just. Lines are being drawn. I'm being called out.
Will Friedle
I know. I had a rough night.
Rider Strong
I had a rough night last night. You had a rough night watching this.
Will Friedle
I had a rough night and I. Because I came to a kind of a horrible realization, which is, I don't like this.
Rider Strong
Don't. You're going to yuck everybody.
Will Friedle
Let me. Let me finish. It's got nothing to do within the city. It's not like I don't like this show. The genre of. I just came to realize one of the reasons I honed my comedy, or I tried to, is because I don't like conflict. And so conf. One of the ways to. Great way to, you know, diffuse conflict is to be the funny guy, which is what I always did. So an entire show based around conflict. I felt anxious the whole time I was watching the show. I just had this feeling in the pit of my gut. I was like looking down at my phone because it was like I was watching mom and dad fight and it made me uncomfortable. My parents never fought, by the way, ever. But it was one of those things where it's just so.
Rider Strong
Again, maybe they should have fought every once in a while.
Will Friedle
Maybe they should have. Who knows? But again, it's not these people or this show. It's the genre of. It's people getting together and arguing. That's what it is. And it just makes me really anxious. So, yeah, this is uncomfortable for me. It really was uncomfortable.
Rider Strong
I mean, I will say there is a profound lack of humor among most of the people. Sense of humor and that. Actually, I hadn't thought about that. But I think if somebody was too humorous, they would be able to deflect conflict too easily, which would make for a very boring show. Or more of a sort of comedy show. So, yeah, the comedy sort of comes out of people leaning into conflict. Right. So, like. Like, Lindsay is probably the funniest character,
Will Friedle
but it's mostly because she's unhinged.
Rider Strong
Yeah. It's because she's, like, going for it, and she's like. She's funny in that she's willing to say things that most people wouldn't like, you know, which is a different type of humor than what you were talking about. It's not like Gavin is probably the one who attempts to be the funniest, and he's sort of, like, snarky on the side, like, little sides, like, you know, jabber, jabber.
Will Friedle
He'll throw out a bar. Funny comment.
Rider Strong
I hope nobody noticed. Yeah, yeah. But you're right. You don't have anybody who's like, I'm just really funny guy. Funny at, you know, saying a funny joke.
Will Friedle
No. Yeah.
Rider Strong
So I would probably fit in perfectly because I'm very earnest.
Will Friedle
You are, but you're also not in. You're not. You don't aggressively search for drama in any way, shape, or form, which is what, this.
Rider Strong
No, but in my 20s, if you got me drunk enough, I could have been part of this.
Will Friedle
Well, I think, like, they start drinking at breakfast, so you would have been perfect for you.
Rider Strong
If you. In my 20s had, like, I would have been moody and bitchy in my 20s if you got me drunk, and I would have. And made me feel like I was on the outs of a social group, I would have clawed my way back in probably, you know, like, I was in my grad school. In my grad school, I, you know, I formed a group of friends, and I think we were pretty snarky, I
Will Friedle
think, you know, really.
Rider Strong
Now, this was only. We were a low residency program, so we weren't, like, at college together all the time. We were mostly writing. We would write and send stuff through the mail to our professors. They wouldn't even accept email. This is crazy. In 2009, but. So we had to send everything. Packets to the mail. And then we would go every six months and spend, like, two weeks together on campus. And for us, you know, I was in my late 20s, and then a lot of the people there were in their early 30s. It was, like, a chance to, like, re. Experience. And I think we became the mean girls. I think we really. Yeah.
Will Friedle
Were you clapping at people? Listen to what I'm saying.
Rider Strong
We would drink a lot, and we would stay up late and we would talk literature. I mean, it became literary Disco. My podcast was two of my friends from grad school, Todd Goldberg and Julia Pistel. And I think the three of us in school, we would not only talk books, we'd also talk shit about the pretentiousness of a lot of our fellow students. Because there's a lot of pretentiousness in an MFA writing program.
Will Friedle
Sure.
Rider Strong
Including. I mean, you know, if it's bad, if writer me. If you notice the pretentious. Yes. Yeah. I found the poet. The poets insufferable at times.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
I was a fiction. So we would. We would talk shit about the poets a lot.
Will Friedle
You're the guy with water up to his neck looking at the guy up to his eyes going, wow, that guy's drowning.
Rider Strong
Yeah. Yeah.
Will Friedle
Anyway, I think.
Rider Strong
I think I could fit it on a show like this maybe. Yeah. Because, I mean, just. I would not just.
Will Friedle
Yeah, it just makes me uncomfortable. Somebody needs to throw a pie or drop a pan.
Rider Strong
I just. But I just think also, like, human maturity, you know, by the time I hit my, like, mid-30s and, like, settled down into, like, my identity and, like, the idea of talking this much crap about other people, like, makes me very uncomfortable. Like, you know, I just. I tend to avoid drama.
Ryan Seacrest
Right.
Rider Strong
I minimize drama in my life. Me too.
Will Friedle
Me too.
Rider Strong
It's like, that's the goal is like, oh, if somebody is one of those people that calls attention to themselves or whatever, you don't hang out with that person that often. If there's always a fight at some get together, you don't invite those people again. Yeah.
Will Friedle
And that's obviously why they're doing it. But the other thing I realized as I was watching it is if you took. Take every single one of these people and de. Age them to 13, the conversations would be exactly the same.
Rider Strong
Yeah. Yeah.
Will Friedle
It's very middle, minus the alcohol. I mean, it would be exactly the same. And again, it's not that I don't like this show. I think I'm going to have a problem with the whole genre just because it is. It just makes me very uncomfortable. And again, there's people I like and people. I don't got to give in, man.
Rider Strong
You just got to, like, give in to that gossipy part of your brain. Just. Just. Just a sign. I'm trying this on. You love Lindsay. Just. Just try it on. Because, like, I've actually come to enjoy Lindsay. I'm like, you know what I actually do. Like, I actually, you know what? Like, throw some bombs.
Will Friedle
Like, you know who I love? You know who I love? Who I've now seen for a grand total of three minutes, but I'm in. Is Sierra really? Oh, I loved her. I thought she was. She came in and she was not only a breath of fresh air, but it was like she was kind of like saying things like.
Rider Strong
Well, because she's totally intelligent.
Will Friedle
Exactly.
Rider Strong
No, no, Will, you're looking at this all wrong. You're not looking for people that. You're looking for people that are. Bring the fireworks.
Will Friedle
Oh, that west guy or what is
Rider Strong
going to throw a drink first. Lindsay, obviously that's. I want west throw.
Will Friedle
I want west to throw the drink first because his beer koozie will soften the hit as his Miller High life hits you in the head.
Rider Strong
All right, let's get.
Will Friedle
Here we go. Get into it. Let's get into it.
Rider Strong
Episode three begins with Amanda on a street corner waiting for Sierra and West to show up. And since we know the drama is coming, it's coming. It's exciting. She explains to them that she is moving out, that she and Kyle are taking this. Not a real breakup, but a separation. Not a real separation. Creating a separation is what they say.
Will Friedle
It's so semantics to just file the paperwork. You're obviously not gonna be together. My God.
Rider Strong
Amanda explains that Sierra is her best friend and that west was really there for her over the summer. Flashback to Pen with his hugs and,
Will Friedle
oh, by the way, every time they cut back to him and he's the guy, like, don't talk to her like that. Or come in to give you a hug and give you a kiss. This guy was so positioning himself to scoop her up right from the beginning. None of this was a mistake.
Rider Strong
I totally disagree.
Will Friedle
Oh, bullshit. This guy knew exactly what he was doing.
Rider Strong
No, you guys.
Will Friedle
Exactly what he was doing.
Rider Strong
No, please. You know what? What? What? I was watching with the three of them. Look, I'm not team Amanda or. I'm not saying any of that. I'm just saying I was struck by how the three of them very much just seemed like three good friends having lunch. And I was like, actually, yeah, he
Will Friedle
definitely seemed like that. That's the whole point. If you seem like the guy, Maddie, jump in.
Rider Strong
Feelings change, man. Feelings. Great.
Maddie
I was gonna say. I was gonna say, ryder, you see the best in people and it's nice.
Will Friedle
It's gorgeous.
Rider Strong
So you think he's low key, sitting there going like, now I can move my way in on Amanda?
Maddie
Oh, yeah. Well, I think. I don't even know if it was that necessarily. I think he thought Kyle is being horrible to Amanda. Everyone's gonna love Amanda. I want everyone to love me. So I'm gonna be there for Amanda and I'm gonna. He is diabolical, guys. He is.
Rider Strong
He.
Maddie
I swear to God, he is like
Rider Strong
you just described a decent Prince Charming.
Will Friedle
Bond level villainy.
Rider Strong
Are you kidding, man? Oh, it's Bond level villain.
Will Friedle
Come on. I think so. You think he's. Think. Now, here's my question.
Rider Strong
I honestly. I honestly don't think he's thinking it through. I don't think I. And they, you know, we'll get to it in a second. But when they cut her. They interview her in May.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
For her confession.
Will Friedle
What are you going to say? Well, yes, of course I had a crush on him. We were already in an emotional affair and I was just looking to bail on Kyle.
Rider Strong
Of course you say that. I guess. I mean, I just think. Yeah, I don't. I don't think she was thinking about it.
Will Friedle
I don't. Maybe she might not have been and definitely was.
Maddie
Agree. Well, 100.
Will Friedle
Yeah, I think.
Rider Strong
But here's my question. Do you tend to think that about all guys?
Will Friedle
No, I certainly don't.
Rider Strong
Him.
Maddie
No.
Rider Strong
Because, you know, there's a whole school of thought that's like men and women should. Can't be friends and. Because somebody always wants to sleep with somebody and it's usually a guy.
Will Friedle
No, I think that's. That's total horseshit. That to me, is an insecure relationship or insecure man. You know, if my wife wants to have guy friends, chances are I know who these people are. I'm totally fine with that. Or she wouldn't be my wife if, you know, I wouldn't be her husband if. It's like, I go out. There's times Danielle and I are going out to dinner together. Because you're out with God knows who, God knows where in Cincinnati and Danielle,
Rider Strong
friends that are girls that I want to have sex with. You can't just be friends with me.
Will Friedle
I don't know what you're talking about exactly. No, I just. I know you can. If you're secure in your relationship, then you can be friends with anybody.
Rider Strong
Okay. I don't know. I honestly, like, I got such friendship vibes from the three of them. It actually made me sadder because I was like, oh, this actually was kind of a nice situation that goes back nine years that is ruined by this love triangle shit. I don't know.
Will Friedle
I don't disagree with that. No, I don't disagree with that. And I think for two of them, that is completely the deal. I think this guy saw it. He. I think he has a crush on her.
Rider Strong
I do assume the best of most people. So I'm like. And the fact that they were being so kind, you know, whatever I do
Maddie
want to say, just posing the question, like, you see Sierra when he. And we're going to get to this in just a second. But you can see how, like, happy she is when he puts his jacket around her. Like, so obvious that she has the biggest crush on him. He knows that. And he threw her to the curb and it.
Rider Strong
Wait a minute.
Maddie
Purposeful.
Rider Strong
I thought at this point they had already dated and broken up.
Maddie
Correct.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Maddie
But then over the summer, they made out again. Oh, it was so. It's kind of bro. Right? And so it's just one of those things where it's like he knew. So, like, it was very clear.
Will Friedle
Now, wait, Maddie, I have a question for you, which maybe, you know, if it's like we've talked about in an episode before, if. If this love triangle is so integral to the story, why weren't these two people asked to be regulars on in the City?
Maddie
Well, because in the City started taping before. Like, before the love triangle started. Is that what you're saying?
Will Friedle
No, I'm just wondering because it seems like everybody else, like, from Summer House, some people made it and some people didn't.
Maddie
Oh, right.
Will Friedle
And if Sierra and West are so important now to what's going on and in the city, why aren't they regulars on the show?
Maddie
So I think their idea was like, let's kind of take the older people that were on Summer House and put them on in the city. And then the people that are still like a little bit younger still maybe want to party or whatever, can stay on Summer House to keep it alive so that you're like, oh, so Sierra
Rider Strong
and West are a little younger and child free in a way that they're still.
Maddie
Yeah, exactly.
Rider Strong
And Kyle.
Will Friedle
And Kyle and Amanda aren't going back to Summer House. Then there won't. They won't be. Gotcha.
Maddie
Yep. So they're just staying on in the city. But I agree with you. I think since they are so integral now into, like, on in the city and their storyline and everything, they will probably be like in future seasons.
Will Friedle
Yeah, yeah.
Maddie
But I think they wanted to kind of separate the two shows a little bit, you know?
Rider Strong
All right. They sit down for Caesar salad, pizza and lobster pasta. I'm glad we get to hear all
Will Friedle
their orders, to know all their food,
Rider Strong
and then the whole show goes off. The Rails into green screen land.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
With, like, the background glitches out. Matrix style.
Will Friedle
They Matrix it.
Rider Strong
What is going on? So am I correct in understanding that they put a couch in front of a green screen and that whole apartment is fake?
Maddie
Yes.
Rider Strong
Yeah. What?
Maddie
You didn't know that?
Will Friedle
You figured they all just went to the same apartment and did their talking head interviews.
Rider Strong
The visual story that's being told here is that the world is literally becoming in a simulation. It goes back to Baudrillard, which I brought up in the first episode. It's a simulacra, man. It's all. It's like, is going on. It melted my mind. I was like, wait, so their apartments aren't real? Their confessions are set in a fake world. We don't even know what date it is that these confessions are coming from. And then the producer broke the fourth wall. We can hear her asking questions.
Will Friedle
I love that, by the way, because the whole time. Well, yes, because the producer is us.
Rider Strong
The producer is.
Will Friedle
Is the audience going, wait a second, hang on. Because I.
Rider Strong
Reality show should be a reality crew following the producers trying to create the reality show. That would be.
Will Friedle
Because I have so many questions about this episode, too, where it's like, did they set that up? Did they set that up?
Rider Strong
There was a very good TV show. I forget what channel it was on. I think it was called Just Reality. And it was about the reality show producers behind, like, a Bachelorette style show. I only watched a couple episodes. It was excellent. I think it was called Reality, right?
Will Friedle
No, that's. You're talking unreal.
Rider Strong
Unreal. Thank you.
Will Friedle
Unreal. So my friend Constance Zimmer was the star of that show.
Rider Strong
Oh, my gosh. She's so good.
Will Friedle
She's phenomenal. Yeah. We did Transformers together for four years.
Rider Strong
Oh, that show was great. Like, because that was basically this, you know, like, it's.
Will Friedle
It was nuts watching that show, too. Yeah. Crazy.
Rider Strong
All right, well, I just thought this was bonkers that the whole show melts down to, like, break the fourth wall. Tells us the date, and the producer asks if she had a crush on Wes during the scene. And she insists that no, they were just friends who helped her get through this weird time in her life. Weird, weird moment, guys. Back in the scene, she tells them she's moving out. They're not legally separated or divorcing. West is curious about what Kyle thinks. We get a flashback to Sierra and West talking about Kyle's feelings on the beach. And west asks a valid question, which is in therapy. Have you ever said, hey, Kyle, you need to stop your behavior. Drinking too much, essentially, or I'm gonna leave you. And Amanda says yes, which is interesting to hear. Cause that hasn't actually come out that much.
Will Friedle
And it seems like it should. It seems like this guy, if this guy is truly a raging alcoholic, that's a big thing, right?
Rider Strong
And that's what they all kind of say. Because then, you know, Wes is like, he's not chilling out. He's not stopping. This behavior isn't changing. He's 43. And Sierra, you know, they're all. Which is like, kind of. I don't know. It's been interesting because all of this talk about the drama between Amanda and Kyle hasn't really touched upon that. It's just been like, what are we doing? Are we big thing?
Will Friedle
You're 43. You're drunk all night, you're coming at home, coming back home at 8am like, and you're cheating on me?
Rider Strong
Yeah, it's.
Will Friedle
It seems like.
Rider Strong
Yeah, it's just seems like an important thing to maybe cover. Yeah.
Will Friedle
Yeah. Hell yes, it does.

Malcolm Glebel
Hello? Hello, this is Malcolm Glebel from Smart talks with IBM. Today we're diving into a fascinating conversation with Stefano Pallard, head of fan development for Scuderia Ferrari hp.
Stefano Pallard
Your pronunciation is strongly American. It's more Scuderia Ferrari.
Malcolm Glebel
I'm still working on rolling my R's, but what I was able to learn from Stefano was the importance of engaging the Tifosi, the Ferrari superfans in the digital age.
Stefano Pallard
Ferrari fans and super fans want to be part of something, want to belong to something. So they want to be part of a community, and ultimately they want to be part of a winning team.
Malcolm Glebel
You've got Ferrari, which has a long history, design history, and now you're interacting in a kind of digital space. I'm curious how you balance those two traditions.
Stefano Pallard
When it comes to fan engagement, it's really digital technology. And digital channels, are they enabled to create a deeper connection with our fans.

Rider Strong
All right, so Sierra asks her directly, does she even want to be married? Amanda says she doesn't know. And then Sierra points out that they didn't sign a prenup and asks where they're at with their company, Loverboy. Cut to Kyle during a Loverboy meeting with the entire Loverboy staff on a zoom. And I'm fascinated by these poor people.
Will Friedle
Oh, I know.
Rider Strong
Can you imagine working for a company knowing that your CEO and his wife are going to be all over the tabloids constantly for a reality show that they are filming? And I just, well, they probably love
Will Friedle
it because they're probably like, think of
Rider Strong
what this will do for our product, maybe. Yeah, that's actually a good point. I just like the woman, Dylan, who's in the room.
Will Friedle
Oh yeah, that's like, she's like, hi,
Rider Strong
Do I need to be looking for another job?
Will Friedle
I'm not a reality show star. I'm literally working for Loverboy. Should I look elsewhere at this point?
Rider Strong
And he's like, not even able to give her an answer. He's like, well, I can't tell you to not look for another job, but I put my blood, sweat and tears and my marriage into this company and I was just like, ooh, I Feel for all those people on the zoom. And Dylan, I was like, like, that's a rough position.
Will Friedle
And it's alcoholic seltzer and merch. Is that right?
Maddie
Yes.
Rider Strong
Yes. Okay, gotcha. Okay, so back with west and Sierra and Amanda, the conversation. They say if loverboy comes out in the negative, that Amanda could still be liable.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Rider Strong
Which Amanda says she doesn't want to think about that. And if she starts thinking about these things too much, she'll cry. And my takeaway was maybe you should start thinking about these things.
Will Friedle
Well, that's why Sierra was like, wow, that's a really naive way to look. She's like, I don't think Kyle would do that to me. She's like, wow, that's really naive. And it's like, I love you, Sierra. I love you. You're the. You're the best one ever. So, yeah, I think she's.
Rider Strong
She's being very level headed and like, now I'm curious.
Will Friedle
Question for you. This is the first time we're seeing this guy. What are your first impressions of this dude?
Rider Strong
Of West?
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
I don't mind him. That's what I mean. Like, I'm. I was like, like the way that the three of them, like hold hands and they're like supportive and like the things that he's like, asking about Kyle's feelings. Considering Kyle's feelings, like, it seemed like a really. Like is actually one of the healthier conversations I've seen. Like, between the three of them, there's actually a lack of conflict in this scene.
Will Friedle
So here's my question then, because I don't disagree with you now, Maddie, if. If we had watched Summer house for the 10 years or however long this guy's been on, would we have a different feeling of this guy? Or is he. Is this West?
Maddie
This is West. Okay, so he is insanely likable. He's great, except he's putting on that Persona on purpose because he knows what people want to see. And that is what kind of broke down in part two of the Summer House reunion. Even Lindsay said she was like, you know how to reel people in. You know how to like, turn on the switch and you do it perfectly. So it's like everyone did love him until this. So it's really. I get what you're saying. Ryder and Will, he's very likable, so it's tough.
Will Friedle
Ah, it's so strange.
Rider Strong
I think the biggest, most unlikable part of this entire scene is the amount of parmesan cheese that they put on their pizza.
Will Friedle
Don't get me started.
Rider Strong
What the hell is she doing?
Will Friedle
She just gets.
Rider Strong
It's like sitting there, pour, pour, pour, pour, pour. Poor. And I was like, sierra, this is like. This is like a bit where somebody keeps pouring sugar in their coffee until it, like, overflows. I was like, this is a comedy bit, right?
Will Friedle
What the fuck?
Rider Strong
I was disgusted. I was like, yo. It was also, like, one of 14
Will Friedle
pizzas they eat in this episode. This is a pizza episode? Yeah. Crazy.
Rider Strong
I don't trust her for that reason. I don't trust her.
Will Friedle
I don't trust her.
Rider Strong
I trust west, but he's not the one putting that much parmesan. You tell him. Like, he's kind of looking down at her while she's doing it. Like, what? That's probably why they broke up. All right. Sierra says that they are rooting for. We're rooting for you, Amanda. We are always rooting for you. And yeah, I bet west is rooting for Amanda.
Maddie
Yeah.
Will Friedle
Again, I don't.
Rider Strong
I don't cut to Lindsay on a date with Frank.
Will Friedle
Was I right about Frank? Was I right about. Did I call.
Rider Strong
Oh, my God.
Will Friedle
What?
Rider Strong
He's in the milk and dairy industry. We didn't know what that meant. Can we. I want to know what is your impression of what the hell his job is?
Will Friedle
I. I don't. He. Well, he said old school. Milk delivery with good looking muscled guys. That's what it is. It's the thunder from down under. With milk.
Rider Strong
With milk.
Will Friedle
Yes.
Rider Strong
So what? He started a company where he's like, you want milk delivered to your house by hot men? We do that.
Will Friedle
Yeah. By the way, this guy makes vanilla ice cream. Exciting. He's just sitting there listening to him try to get through the conversation. And just like, you go to the gym today. You, Jim, you gym today.
Rider Strong
You, Jim, you gym.
Will Friedle
No, not today. Yeah, me.
Rider Strong
Every day he starts off even better. He starts with expressing his insecurity about ordering Rose because I'm so masculine. I'm really normally a tough guy, but are you okay? What the hell is up with this?
Will Friedle
I hope he's on every episode.
Rider Strong
Okay, But I mean, this is the thing, that there are certain foods and certain drinks that are coded as masculine for feminine.
Ryan Seacrest
Of course.
Will Friedle
Absurd.
Rider Strong
It's absurd. But I used. Like, people used to mock me being a vegetarian by questioning my masculinity on a regular basis. I used to do the same thing. Of course I would do the same thing. And of course, even that's absurd, so. Yeah, it is.
Will Friedle
No, it is. But again, don't bracket it if you're gonna do it. Just get a rose. Do you mind? Do you mind, lady? What makes you unmasculine is asking for permission from the date you just met. If it's okay if you have a glass of wine. That's what makes you unmasc. It's like, you think it's okay if me. After Jim, go have wine.
Rider Strong
Like, truly comfortable in your sexuality and your. Your. Your gender identity. Just do what you want to do and you don't worry about it.
Will Friedle
Order a glass of. Oh, this guy. He was chef's kiss. He was everything I wanted, everything I want.
Rider Strong
But I do think it's so interesting, like, with women especially, they really like a lot. Like, because, you know, I'll drink whiskey and like, women will never touch whiskey, but be totally fine drinking tequila. I'm like, tequila is actually disgusting. And do you know what I mean? Like, like taste wise, but for some reason. And it's really hard alcohol. They're both very hard alcohols. But for whatever reason, whiskey and scotch is coded as masculine. Yeah. So women. But. But women can order Mezcal. That's like, like, been. Okay. Mezcal is again, like, super scotchy. Like, I have a hard time drinking that.
Will Friedle
Yeah, I don't like it.
Rider Strong
I don't like it. It's. But it's like, it's too intense.
Will Friedle
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So to me, I don't know if I'm. I'm. I ride the line because I get vodka in a glass. That's. That's it. That's. That's it. So I don't know if that's masculine or feminine. I think I'm riding the line, frankly. Vodka, everybody. Yeah.
Rider Strong
Cuz vodka's. It's a low calorie drink, so that's why it's been popular. Like, I. I know that there was a period where when Alex and I were first started dating, we would drink vodka Diet Cokes, which we then found out were called the Skinny bitch, which is.
Will Friedle
I like it.
Rider Strong
Okay.
Will Friedle
I like it.
Rider Strong
Anyway, all this talk about gender identity brought to mind the problematic feminist, Camille Paglia. Do you know much about Camille Paglia?
Will Friedle
I know so much about Camille Paglia, but I'm gonna let you describe her.
Rider Strong
Yeah. Paglia's come back into my life. So my first encounter with Camille Paglia was in high school and then a little bit in college.
Will Friedle
And so she went to the same school. High school and college.
Rider Strong
Actually. She might have gone to Columbia. I don't know where she went, but no she, she was much older. But, you know, when I read her back then, I remember it being presented to me as she was like a non feminist, anti feminist. This like, this woman who like, rationalized male rape as biological. And like, I had all these negative ideas about her. And I probably only read like one essay or an excerpt back in the day. And then I was at a party. I was at the best New Year's party this year, by the way, the best New Year's party I've ever been to in my life. Which is busy.
Will Friedle
Thanks for the call.
Rider Strong
I didn't throw it. My friends Natalie Z and Travis Schultz are the most amazing couple in the world. They are just. They're both actors. You've probably met both of them at different times.
Will Friedle
Is this the one that performed the skit at your wedding? He, like, hosted.
Rider Strong
Yes, they hosted the talent show at our wedding. They are beautiful people.
Will Friedle
Just. They're gorgeous. They're a gorgeous couple. Yeah, they are.
Rider Strong
And so freaking talented, both of them. Travis was on Scrubs, Natalie was on Justified. She's been in. She's always. She's been on TV for ever. Always on a series. She was on. La Brea was the last big show. She's amazing. They're both, both so talented and they're such good friends. And they not only are good friends to like me and Alex, but they also cultivate friend groups better than almost anybody I know. So their friend group is the coolest group of people. And they have a New Year's tradition that goes back years where they used to go. Before kids, they would all rent a house together on this beach town. But now it's like migrated to their house. So what they do is they do a two day New Year's party, which is the best way to do it. So you end up having New Year's Eve together, then everybody goes home, and then you come back the next day and you have New Year's brunch into New Year's Day evening together. And everybody takes turn doing different meals. So like one person is like. He's like the ramen guy. I made pizzas, you know, one like. So everybody's bringing something, contributing something, and it's like this rotating cast of awesome people and great conversations. Anyway, there's also like a puzzle set out. So, like, someone's always doing a puzzle. So it just is the most relaxing gathering. And at one point I was wandering through their house and found on their bookshelf a copy of Sexual Personae, which is Camille Paglia's most Famous work, her first work. And I pulled it down off the shelf and found myself reading the first like 30 pages of this book. Utterly enthralled. It is so brilliantly written and so intense. I don't agree with everything, but I think Camille Paglia is a fascinating thinker. And like I had totally written her off because I sort of thought of her as this like anti feminist, but she's actually way more interesting beyond that, the way she writes, she. It's like this manifesto style. She's very bold. Do you know what I mean? Like, she's basically saying that like the reason that she's not loved by other feminists. Yeah. I don't even know if you could call her a feminist is because she. She says that like that nature is chaotic, that the world is. Is in like that by. By Nat. By like naturally, biologically, men and women are messes and that we are, you know, that the whole world is pretty chaotic and indifferent and. And that society is our way to sort of control our impulses and to. To sort of like, you know, be better and to not. To not hurt one another and which is different. Like a lot of feminists, strains of feminists are constructivist, right. Like they believe that, that, that the. The problem, like for women, the reason that women have been is because society has kept them down, right. That like the social structures have told them to be wives or to not have jobs or you know, and she sort of takes the opposite view that society is actually a force for good against a natural biology. So she's more essentialist. She sort of says that like, you know, men are kind of. Of awful and power hungry and women are also kind of chaotic and sex is naturally pretty deregulated and not great for either groups of people. Like sex is awful for men and humiliating and sex and a drive that they can't control. So anyway, super interesting. Highly recommend. If no. If no one has read, like, if you've heard about Camille Paglia and you're a feminist out there, I would try reading her actual book. I have been loving it. I don't agree with everything obviously, but it is fascinating and it's so fun to read somebody being so bold because I feel like so many philosophers and so many theorists especially unfortunately, like theorists since like the 90s are just not that exciting to read. Well, it's.
Will Friedle
Cause no one doesn't. People don't want to say that. Say the wrong thing anymore.
Rider Strong
Exactly. That's truly the way I feel. And I feel like I'm impressed by her boldness and it's part of the reason, like, I'm attracted to it now is because I feel like, especially in academia and in philosophy. Exactly what you're saying. So many people have been too scared to offend anybody, but they don't take a bold stance.
Will Friedle
It's diet philosophy.
Rider Strong
Yeah. And they talk around what they're saying or they sort of just repeat what. But when you go back to, like, the 60s and, like, through the early 90s, like, people wrote really crazy takes on things, and they really. They're fun to read and they're exciting and they make. They sharpen the way you think about things. So, like, I've had more good conversations about feminism with my wife and other people since rereading Camille Paglia than I did, like, last year. Do you know what I mean? Because she excited my brain again. So highly recommend.
Will Friedle
Just curiously, what year was that book written?
Rider Strong
That's a good question. I think the 80s.
Will Friedle
Oh, okay.
Rider Strong
No. God, it might have been even earlier. I think it was the same
Will Friedle
1990.
Ryan Seacrest
Wow.
Will Friedle
Okay.
Rider Strong
All right.
Will Friedle
Yeah, gotcha. Yeah.
Rider Strong
She's a really interesting, interesting person.
Will Friedle
Is she still around?
Rider Strong
Yeah. Yeah. And still very controversial.
Will Friedle
We'll have to get her on the pod and see what she thinks about in the city. See if she's Team Amanda.
Rider Strong
I would love it. I would love it. All right. That was our philosophy break.

Malcolm Glebel
Hello? Hello, this is Malcolm Glebel from Smart talks with IBM. Today. We're diving into a fascinating conversation with Stefano Pallard, head of fan development for Scuderia Ferrari hp.
Stefano Pallard
Your pronunciation is strongly American. It's more Scuderia Ferrari.
Malcolm Glebel
I'm still working on rolling my R's, but what I was able to learn from Stefano was the importance of engaging the Tifosi, the Ferrari superfans. In the digital age.
Stefano Pallard
Ferrari fans and superfans want to be part of something, want to belong to something. So they want to be part of a community, and ultimately they want to be part of a winning team.
Malcolm Glebel
You've got Ferrari, which has a long history, design history, and now you're interacting in a kind of digital space. I'm curious how you balance those two traditions.
Stefano Pallard
When it comes to fan engagement, it's really digital technology, and digital channels are being able to create a deeper connection with our fans.
Malcolm Glebel

Cal Penn
Hey everyone, it's Cal Penn, host of Irsay, The Audible and iHeart Audiobook Club. This week on the podcast I'm sitting down with Lily Chu, the author of the Audible original romantic comedy Just Kiss Already. It's a story about a forensic anthropologist who secretly writes mystery novels, an actress who adapts his book into a film, and what happens when a mean and a media tour collide with a slow burn romance. It's performed by Simu Liu and Philippa Su, and it is an absolute blast.
Lily Chu
When you actually hear the performance, you realize that other people are taking your words and what you thought was kind of a straightforward sentence like the cat in the corner is black. In my head it's the cat in the corner is black, not the dog, not the gerbil. But someone else might say it, the cat in the corner is black. That's always fascinating to me how they just bring in all these different nuances and really make it fun and interesting and distinctive.
Cal Penn

Rider Strong
All right, so Lindsay orders a martini. He gets his glass of and then he asks this like you brought up this very important question. Did you do today? Did she work out?
Will Friedle
Did you work out?
Rider Strong
And then she answers, I have a baby. And he goes, yeah, so you're working on your biceps, picking up your baby. And then she asks, oh, he's the best. The follow up did you work out today? Which is what he was Waiting for.
Will Friedle
Of course.
Rider Strong
Of course I do. Every day.
Will Friedle
Every day.
Rider Strong
Day.
Will Friedle
Every day. I'm frank every day. I love, though, how she talks, basically, to the fact that she doesn't care.
Rider Strong
Doesn't care.
Will Friedle
He's. He's a warm dildo at this point, and she's totally fine with that.
Rider Strong
Her line is, I, I, I. I want to have fun. He, He. Ha ha. Then kiki at home is the line. I was a Kiki at home. You just want to get.
Will Friedle
She wants to get back to those hard palpimations.
Rider Strong
Okay. She asks him about his company, which he explains is this.
Will Friedle
Oh, God trip as they're delivering. I have so many questions.
Rider Strong
My first response is, well, this is. It's what gay men would order, right? Like, I guess.
Will Friedle
I guess housewives who want to, you know, hey, the milkman was.
Rider Strong
There's like a.
Will Friedle
Remember, there was that connotation, like, the milkman's delivering. So I don't know if it's. That's what it is.
Rider Strong
Is he a gigolo?
Will Friedle
He's a milkalo, is what he is.
Rider Strong
I mean, I just. I feel like that's something that women would order in groups as, like, a joke, right? Like, the same way that you get a copper.
Will Friedle
Ladies, I hear.
Rider Strong
Yeah, like, the milkman's coming. But, like, for somebody on, like, a weekly basis to subscribe to, like, hot milk guy delivering your. That's just.
Will Friedle
We got to figure out exactly what's going on there.
Rider Strong
I wonder if we could look this up.
Maddie
Up.
Will Friedle
He could be a good source of calcium and dick.
Rider Strong
You never know. And semen. She asks him, oh, and then he has this weird line about. He likes to say he got his masters in the streets.
Will Friedle
Oh, yeah. Well, she. He doesn't get him. She's like, how is it in the sheets? And he's like, yeah, I hear pretty good.
Rider Strong
Pretty good.
Will Friedle
I'm just like, oh.
Rider Strong
She's like, the banter is not there, but he's hot. I love him so much. Real man. He's so manly.
Will Friedle
He runs the emotional gamut from a. To slightly more a.
Rider Strong
This. You know, it's interesting with all this talk about, like, not, like, being masculine. Like, it is funny. My wife finds people drinking milk disgusting.
Will Friedle
Oh, I fucking love milk.
Rider Strong
I mean, I enjoy, like, milk is delicious. I don't drink it on. But, like, I can tell that my wife is literally repulsed by me if she caught me drinking a glass of milk.
Will Friedle
Is it just the glass of milk? Like, what about milk and cereal? Is she okay with that?
Rider Strong
Yeah, I think she's okay with that. But the idea of, like, somebody sitting down and drinking a glass of milk she finds repulsive.
Will Friedle
What about cookie? Do you need. Do you need an accessory?
Rider Strong
Does it make it better? I don't know, but I know that my wife would, like, literally leave me and, like, like, I would not have sex for a week if she caught me drinking milk.
Will Friedle
Drinking milk.
Rider Strong
Oh, my God. I'll have Rose all day. She's fine with me with Rose. But I love.
Will Friedle
God forbid you go with a skim.
Rider Strong
Yeah.
Will Friedle
Oh, my God.
Rider Strong
Interesting, right? Yeah, yeah. It's a weird thing for her.
Will Friedle
I grew up in a milk.
Rider Strong
I never thought about it until I started dating her. And then she's like, ugh, you're gonna drink that milk.
Will Friedle
I suck it right from the cow's teeth. I love it so much. You've no idea.
Rider Strong
Yeah, like, you know, the thing for me is that I grew up, my family was vegetarian and also, like, never had dairy, so we would have. The only milk in our house was powdered non fat instant milk. Oh, my God. What are these?
Will Friedle
War rations.
Rider Strong
What do you. Exactly. My mom would keep it in packets, like in bags, and it was blue, greenish blue when you made it and you added water to it. So I. And we only had margarine, so I always thought all dairy products were just like, just disgusting, like the idea of milk. So when I discovered whole milk as an adult and like, drinking, like, whole milk is incredible.
Will Friedle
Delicious.
Rider Strong
Yeah, yeah.
Will Friedle
I would. Seriously, I'd have one cow's tea in my mouth and I'd be grabbing the other two and spraying my. Oh, yeah. Hell yes.
Rider Strong
I love it. All right. Yvonne and Georgina pushing a stroller. Georgina has her two kids. Yvonne is shocked to discover that stroller cost $2,500. And then she says, like, that could be some kind of bag. I don't know what bag she mentions, but. So differences in priorities. Differences in priorities here. But these two are friends. Georgina.
Will Friedle
Georgina seems to have it together. She seems to kind of have her shit together quite a bit. Yeah.
Rider Strong
She's also single parenting. Yeah, she's single parenting.
Will Friedle
This is the one whose husband left her when she was like, seven months pregnant. Yeah, just lame.
Rider Strong
And she describes Yvonne as a lovable airhead, which seems maybe accurate. And they talk about, you know, Yvonne asks her about what it was like being pregnant. Georgina says the hardest part was going up and down subway. And then she has this line. She goes, there's never a good time to have kids. You just got to do it. Which I totally agree with. It's something that, like, my mom. I remember my mom saying is like, if you wait around to plan for the right time to have kids, you will never do it. And I totally think that's true. Just. Just take the plunge if you can.
Will Friedle
Right.
Rider Strong
Yvonne describes her family, which is huge. Her dad is one of seven. Her mom is one of like eight or something. She starts naming all our aunts so she has 24.
Ryan Seacrest
Scene.
Rider Strong
Then we're at Kenny's apartment in NoHo. Whitney's stuff is arriving.
Will Friedle
This is nuts. Yeah, this is nuts. I mean, this is truly nuts, though.
Rider Strong
But I mean, is it. I mean, it's her life. She's moving her life. What do you. What's nuts?
Will Friedle
I get it, but the sheer amount of shit. Where are you going to put everything? I mean, you've got to understand you're moving into a place where this is where it's like, no, here's what we're going to do. We're going to rent a storage unit. I'll take care of the cost for the storage unit.
Rider Strong
It.
Will Friedle
We're gonna go through the boxes that you need that are absolutely essential. Then we're gonna store some stuff until we figure out what's next. You can't just have 40 boxes delivered to your apartment. It's like, come on.
Rider Strong
Yeah.
Will Friedle
What are we supposed to do with all this stuff?
Rider Strong
Right? I mean, it's interesting because none of it's furniture, right? So she just moved her stuff. Yeah, she just moved her, like, her clothing, essentially. It seems like it's mostly clothing and makeup.
Will Friedle
Clothing.
Rider Strong
Makeup and shoes. Wooden balls and.
Will Friedle
Wooden balls and wooden dotted. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Rider Strong
Well, but, you know, but Kenny can't say because he collects crystals.
Will Friedle
Like, when.
Rider Strong
When he got on his, like, crystal thing, I was like, I felt the same way. You know, I felt the same. Like, he's got good style. Like, his place looks amazing.
Will Friedle
Oh, it's gorgeous.
Rider Strong
So, like, I understand and I'm. But I'm anti stuff. Like, I don't want a lot of things I don't like. I, you know, like, I. My wife is fine with stuff everywhere and I'm always like, just throw it away. Get rid of it.
Will Friedle
I love.
Rider Strong
And. But Kenny, you know, I don't think he has a leg to stand on because he. He collects crystals and seems to have a lot of stuff himself.
Will Friedle
Again, guesses on how much that apartment is a month. That's got to be. You think that one's only eight the size of that apartment? Yeah, I figured that's like a twelve to fifteen thousand dollar apartment. I mean that's. Wow. I mean.
Rider Strong
Yeah, that place looks. It's huge. It's two bedrooms, right? They said they have a guest bedroom,
Will Friedle
that huge kitchen and all that. That's a big ass place in Manhattan.
Rider Strong
God, you're right. I wonder where it is in Manhattan. They probably say. I just didn't.
Will Friedle
Yeah, yeah, that's. Well, no ho.
Rider Strong
Is it? No ho.
Will Friedle
Is that what they said? I think.
Rider Strong
Oh my God.
Will Friedle
But that's. Yeah. He's obviously done very well for himself. So it's. I mean that guy's got a lot. And also as a man who was. Lived the bachelor Life for like 10 years and when, especially when I was going through my anxiety, it was like I didn't date around. I was just by myself for seven of those years to then have my wife move into me, move in with me. It's a big, It's a big move because you're like. Like all the stuff that I'm used to and you gotta make concessions where it's just like, okay, no, you gotta. Yeah. You gotta put your thing here. I get that. You gotta.
Rider Strong
Yeah.
Will Friedle
It can't just be my house that now you live in. It's gotta be our home. So I get it. That's overwhelming and that.
Rider Strong
But I mean that is kind of what the scene becomes. They're going through all the boxes. He's kind of teasing her about her things and she starts to cry. He hugs her. She asks him to be nicer saying, you don't have to like all my stuff, but you can be nicer about it. Which is fair.
Will Friedle
But I also hope they cut some stuff out because he didn't. He said everything tongue in cheek. And the stuff he said wasn't cry worthy.
Rider Strong
Well, she actually cries when he made the thing about how she needs friends to help her.
Will Friedle
Yeah, yeah.
Rider Strong
It seems like that's more of the thing that makes her cry is that like she does. She doesn't have friends. And that seems to be the rest of the episode and the series so far is that she's made this move.
Will Friedle
Nothing of this man. Nothing of this man other than what the audience knows. And it seems like a big risk to move your whole life for this dude.
Rider Strong
Really?
Will Friedle
Yeah, really. This just seems like he seems like we talk about the boy and the party animal and it's like that. It just seems. Yeah. And again, I, I hope he proves me wrong, but it's. There's something shifty about this dude.
Rider Strong
I don't know I mean, that's the cliffhanger of this episode.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
But I actually, I. I don't. Yeah, I don't. I don't get bad vibes. I'm like, okay, God, maybe I'm just too. I see the good in too many people.
Will Friedle
Like, I see good people.
Rider Strong
I see good people. Yeah. Like, I don't think I. I mean, Frank is. Frank? Is that his name? Yeah.
Will Friedle
Oh, Frank's the best.
Rider Strong
He's the. I don't think he's a bad person. No, I don't either. I. I would probably dislike the most in real life.
Will Friedle
Oh. See, I think he's the best. You just. He's the guy who walks down the street no matter what his mental thing is. Just like, oh, my God.
Rider Strong
I would say Gavin strikes me as slightly shady, probably the guy that I would get along with, but be a little. Like, I don't know if I would trust this guy.
Will Friedle
Like, it's so funny. I just feel like I get the vibe of both Kyle and. What's his name, the new guy.
Rider Strong
Kenny.
Will Friedle
Kenny. Both Kyle and Kenny strike me as the. Well, I'm. And I could be totally wrong. 100% wrong. But. Well, now where I am in my life and in my business and everything, I need a wife.
Rider Strong
Yes.
Will Friedle
So I'm gonna find a super hot one. But I'm also still gonna. Around if I need to.
Maddie
Around.
Rider Strong
That's how.
Will Friedle
That's the vibe that I have from both of those dudes where it's like. It's almost like another object. She's stunning. She can speak.
Rider Strong
Well, that's the thing. I have a problem with the first part of that. I mean, obviously I have a problem the second part, like, around, like. And I don't get those vibes, actually, from, like, necessarily. I don't want to make that. But I just. I am immediately like, why is there so much pressure to, like, have a wife and to, like, have her be. You know, it's like the arm candy factor. The sort of. Like, it's just the status thing that bugs me, you know, Like. But the women are also playing that status game, of course. You know, and it's like, ugh. It just doesn't seem to be a recipe for super healthy relationships in general. Like, nobody's.
Will Friedle
Nobody's dating for love here. It doesn't seem like. Well, maybe one OR 2. THE 1. THE. THE woman who's trying to have a baby, but it doesn't seem like her husband's into it.
Rider Strong
But Nick and Yvonne.
Will Friedle
Yeah, Nick and Yvonne. They seem like, they might be happier than the other couples, but we barely see them, so who knows?
Rider Strong
I know, I know, but he. He strikes me as kind of a straight shooter too. Yeah. Yeah. But he's also the least. He's had the least screen time of
Will Friedle
all of the movies. He's the least interesting. Probably because he avoids the drama.
Rider Strong
Right.
Will Friedle
And he just avoids the drama.
Rider Strong
All right, then Lindsay goes to meet Danielle. It's finally happening. The sit down we've been waiting for since episode one. She says, sorry I'm so late. Of course, of course. All right. Then the show cuts to the text message that got them here. I freeze framed and read it so you don't have to. Hey, I wanted to reach out to see if you wanted to get that coffee slash drink sometime. From what I gather from other people is that there was more I said that upset you from SH9, which I'm assuming means summer house nine. So they're talking, and then she. Listen to this. She says that it came across that I was judging you for being a single mom. Parentheses, I never watched it. And that's on me. End parentheses. I understand why you were so cold to me and would like the opportunity to apologize. I hope you know that I would never want to portray a single mom slash friend of mine like that. Especially given that. Anyway, I was like, wow. So she doesn't actually. Danielle doesn't watch the show, and it seems like Lindsay does. And it was super. I just found it interesting that she was, like, basically breaking the fourth wall and being like, hey, I didn't watch the show. And I see that some of the clips from what I said came and I.
Will Friedle
So it was, I think, 30 years from now. They should do a rewatch podcast.
Stefano Pallard
Yes.
Will Friedle
Where she hasn't seen the show, and so she's gotta watch. Yeah, it worked for us.
Rider Strong
And then the producer asks Lindsay, what made you say yes to meeting up with Danielle? And Lindsay says, I will always say yes. Cut to two weeks ago during the flashback. Can I think about it? Can I think about it?
Will Friedle
Can I think about it? All right. Yeah.
Rider Strong
Lindsay orders a mimosa shocker.
Will Friedle
Well, it's nine.
Rider Strong
They're gonna. It's nine. But she does it in case this goes south. And Danielle starts a conversation by saying, I heard that you were hurt and felt judged by me. It's basically what she said in the text message. And Lindsay says, no, that's not it. Basically, there's always something every year. And she begins to catalog the moments.
Will Friedle
And I'll bet you the producers Hated the scene.
Rider Strong
Why?
Will Friedle
Because she just kept saying, no, you're right and I'm sorry. Like, she didn't. She's not fighting, she's not getting well, I didn't. I said this. And then you said this. She's like, no, you're right. If I said something that's all awful and. And you can't have a show that sustains with one person admitting they were wrong and asking for forgiveness. Like, no, you're 100, right. If that's the way it came off, that is totally on me. I'm so sorry. And you could tell that Lindsay was like, ready to go. Like, here we go. And then she's like, she just gave her nowhere to go.
Rider Strong
She's like, you're right, you're right.
Will Friedle
It was awful of me.
Rider Strong
We finally get the infamous Uber hand job conversation, which we've all been waiting for.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
And Danielle is. I don't think I did that, though.
Will Friedle
I know she can't. I don't think I did that.
Rider Strong
And then in the flashbacks, you see Kyle describing and he's like, I think it was over the. Over the pants or under the pants. Is that what really happened?
Will Friedle
13 year old conversation. This is what it. Did you hear that, Johnny? In the playground? It's the 13 year old conversation. Three friends hearing one other friend touch somebody's boob. And this is a show.
Rider Strong
And so it was.
Will Friedle
It was like, oh, my God.
Rider Strong
So did yell, yes, apologize. But then in her confessional, she says, except I'm usually right about the things I say. Which I was like, danielle, you're doing it again.
Will Friedle
And that's why she's like, next season.
Rider Strong
Exactly. But if you say it to the camera, you don't watch the show. But Lindsay clearly does. She's gonna see that clip and you're gonna restart drama. So just keep your mouth shut and don't go on television. They agree to move forward positively in baby steps. And then we get a big group. Bruisy boozy brunch. Lindsay and Danielle walk in together. Everyone's shocked. Amanda asks for their relationship status. They say that they've apologized and moved forward. But then Kyle, well, says if she, if she got an apology, then could we get an apology for Amanda? It's just like fishing for drama, bro.
Will Friedle
That's what I'm saying.
Rider Strong
It's.
Will Friedle
Everybody's just trying to. Let's just get together, have a couple drinks and fight. Yeah, that's the whole show.
Rider Strong
He tells Danielle that he thought she was being incredibly dismissive and condescending. Yep. There's no actual beef between them. Danielle says Amanda is just jumping on the Danielle bashing bandwagon. Flashback to during Whitney's welcome to New York party, a conversation that we did not get to see from last episode, wherein Amanda and Danielle do get into it a little bit. Kenny points out that Lindsay has her girl girls. And Nick jumps in with. Don't you mean the Minions? Flashback to Kenny listing off the Minions. Amanda, Georgina, Yvonne. Back in the present, Nick is like, you know, let's not call them minions, because every woman has her own opinion. So categorizing them as minions is bullshit. Which I was like, yeah, well put, Nick. Like, right. But it's also.
Will Friedle
Why would you tell your friends anything if they're going to turn around and tell everybody else about this? It's like, I was at. We were at boys Night, quote, unquote. I told you this in confidence, and now you're putting me on blast in front of everybody at. At dinner. Like, really, Just don't say anything to these people. They are not your friends. Anything you say is going to get out to everybody else. So just keep your mouth shut with
Rider Strong
everything that is true. I. That does seem to be, like, the golden rule of being on a Bravo show is that if you say something to somebody, it will inevitably get passed around.
Will Friedle
Yeah, everybody.
Ryan Seacrest
Yeah.
Will Friedle
And my guess is. And here's the thing, my guess is if they don't hear it from another character, they hear it from the producers.
Rider Strong
Yeah.
Will Friedle
100%. Yeah. Yep.
Rider Strong
Yeah. Because, I mean, that's what this whole episode ends on is the. The spark conversation. Going. Going through the game of telephone all the way back around, which, again, talking
Will Friedle
to one of your best friends. And we'll get to that. But talking to one of your best friends about saying, like, I really like this girl. I'm just not sure that she. I have that feeling of she's the one. That's a very real, genuine kind of conversation you're having now at the same time you're saying it in front of a camera. So eventually she's gonna see that herself. But that's the whole weirdness about it.
Rider Strong
But I also. I just don't think it's that big of a deal. But Kyle makes it a big deal by telling everybody.
Will Friedle
I agree.
Rider Strong
Which I'm sure what next episode's gonna be all about.
Will Friedle
Of course. It's gonna be called the Spark, right? Yeah.

Hello? Hello, this is Malcolm Glebel from Smart talks with IBM. Today. We're diving into a fascinating conversation with Stefano Pallard, head of fan development for Scuderia Ferrari hp.
Stefano Pallard
Your pronunciation is it's strongly American.
So they want to be part of a community and ultimately they want to be part of a winning team.
Malcolm Glebel
You've got Ferrari, which is a long history, design history, and now you're interacting in a kind of digital space. I'm curious how you balance those two traditions.
Stefano Pallard
When it comes to fan engagement, it's really digital technology, and digital channels are enabled to create a deeper connection with our fans.

Cal Penn
Hey everyone, it's Cal Penn, host of Irsay The Audible and iHeart Audiobook Club. This week on the podcast I'm sitting down with Lily Chu, the author of the Audible original romantic comedy Just Kiss Already. It's a story about a forensic anthropologist who secretly writes mystery novels, an actress who adapts his book into a film, and what happens when a meme and a media tour collide with a slow burn romance. It's performed by Simu Liu and Philippa Su, and it is an absolute blast.
Lily Chu
When you actually hear the performance, you realize that other people are taking your words and what you thought was kind of a straightforward sentence like the cat in the corner is black. In my head, it's the cat in the corner is black. Not the dog, not the gerbil, but someone else might say it. The cat in the corner is black. That's always fascinating to me how they just bring in all these different nuances and really make it fun and interesting and distinctive.
Cal Penn

Rider Strong
So now Lindsay gets very upset and says, these aren't my minions. These are my friends. Don't you know what friends are? Kyle thinks it's a mean girl. Or Kenny thinks it's a mean girl crew and asks her, are you on glue right now?
Will Friedle
Great, great, great line.
Rider Strong
Are you? Are you on glue? But it's also the worst. Like, she's clearly just drinking, like everybody.
Will Friedle
She's also standing up and clapping her hands together. And you're not listening to me. And it's like, whoa, stop puffing paint in front of me.
Rider Strong
I know, but calling somebody crazy or telling them to calm down is like the worst thing you can do.
Will Friedle
Like, but she was crazy and needed to calm down.
Rider Strong
Well, but you could. You don't. But you don't have to say to that person, like, it's not gonna happen.
Will Friedle
It's not gonna make it exactly the same thing. It would have been like, like, do you think yelling and clapping your hands together is helping you make a point? Sit down, take a breath, and have a conversation.
Rider Strong
That first question would have been enough because not helping.
Will Friedle
Yeah, it's. She. This is where I was like. Cuz I liked her up to this point where I was like, oh, I'm kind of digging her vibe. This episode. Lindsay. And then I was like, oh, okay, there's Lindsay. And it's like, nope, not. Not my cup of tea.
Rider Strong
Like, she's entertaining.
Will Friedle
Very true. She is certainly entertaining.
Rider Strong
I will say that Nick asks Whitney what she thinks, which does seem like the appropriate thing to do. Whitney starts. Starts to cry. Whitney cry number two.
Will Friedle
Do you think Whitney's a big crier? Like one of these people that cries all the time?
Rider Strong
Seems like it. But I also feel for her.
Will Friedle
I do too. She moved her whole life away and is now has cameras in her face the whole time. But she was also on the Bachelor, which makes me think this is all she's wanted is to have Cameras in
Rider Strong
her face, in her confessional. She talks about being not used to this kind of cattiness that maybe shouldn't be on in the city.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
And then Kenny's confession. He talks about how one day the minions are gonna revolt.
Will Friedle
It's such brilliant foreshadowing, because you know it's gonna happen. You know it's gonna happen at the table.
Rider Strong
Everyone starts chanting minion or opinions. Not minions.
Will Friedle
Not minions.
Rider Strong
It's great. And then offer to do a shot. Kyle's stoked on that. Can you believe it?
Will Friedle
Do you see how I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, let's do shot. Let's take a shot. Every time somebody says the. It's like, ok, okay, okay, Kyle.
Rider Strong
And we get Whitney, Georgina, and Lexi at the park. This scene bummed me out because this is where they ask Whitney about how the move is going. And we get the flashback to how Kenny came home to a closet expert a couple days ago. That's. You walk awkwardly.
Will Friedle
Now. Here's my question. But here's my question. This is what I was talking about when it comes to reality shows. Do you think Whitney and her friends came up with that idea? Or do you think the producers said, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna have. Have Kenny come home and there's going to be a closet expert that you are. And they're like, oh, okay, let's. Let's do that. Like, which one do you think it is? If you had to take a guess, do you think that's set up by the show in some way? Or do you think she's like, I'm just gonna see if I can have the closet expand?
Rider Strong
I think she just did it because she's been talking about this a lot.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
And it obviously became like, because, you know, even at the brunch didn't like Lindsay says, or somebody says, like, let her have a closet.
Malcolm Glebel
Yeah.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
Okay. Yeah.
Will Friedle
I'm curious. That's. That's what I was thinking. I was like, man, I wonder if they set that up. Or if. If she set that up.
Rider Strong
I think she really wants a closet.
Will Friedle
Oh, I do, too. But then why not go to him and be like, hey, I'm calling a closet expert. I'd like him to come in and check things out as opposed to sneaking somebody in. Like, that's where it just seemed like a little bit like they wanted. And he comes home exactly at the right time to catch the closet guy there. Right.
Rider Strong
While the film crews there.
Will Friedle
Yeah. It just seemed like maybe it was set up, you know? Yeah.
Rider Strong
Well, then Lexi decides to tell Whitney that Andrea heard something from Kyle. And he said he's unsure. There's a spark. And I was like, lexi, what are you doing?
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
Like, this is where. It's like, she's. And she's saying, like, this is not something I wanted to tell you. And then we get these flashbacks. All the multiple people discussing whether there's a spark or not.
Will Friedle
Telephone.
Rider Strong
All these flashbacks. It's not Kenny. It's Kyle spreading the story to everybody. Kenny said it once to Kyle in a very personal, like, yeah. You know, just moment about, like. Yeah. And he didn't.
Will Friedle
He did not say, I don't feel a spark with her. I just don't feel a spark with her. He's, like, working through his feelings of now, living with a woman who's come all the way across town. Now he's got other people being like, you better put a ring on it.
Rider Strong
There's a lot of pressure. And then Lexi uses. Brings up the word murky, which is not been said.
Will Friedle
No, not at all.
Rider Strong
I'm like. I feel like, Like. Like Lexi is just. She's doing this under the guise of being a good friend, but she's just spreading rumors.
Will Friedle
And the rumors coming from Kyle. And remember, he did this last episode was like, I don't want to say she called you a slut.
Rider Strong
Yes, But.
Will Friedle
And so I think this guy's just. This is what he does.
Rider Strong
Yes. Yes.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
And I think the producers are applying him with alcohol and just sending it, winding him up, giving him some shots. And like, Kyle, maybe you should go talk to so and so about that thing you heard.
Will Friedle
Yep.
Rider Strong
Maybe you should go talk to so and so.
Will Friedle
I bet you and anything.
Rider Strong
All right. Whitney starts to cry. Third time. Third time this episode.
Ryan Seacrest
It does suck for her.
Will Friedle
It's big. It's a big deal.
Rider Strong
Then we cut to Amanda and Kyle on the street in their lover boy merch sweatshirts.
Will Friedle
Matching.
Rider Strong
Don't understand. These people dress very well. Otherwise, why is their own company merch so freaking bad? Oh, then we find out they're doing a tie in with some clothing company. Wow. Big mistake, guys. This company is not doing you any favors.
Will Friedle
No, no, not my favorite fave. Not my fave clothes.
Rider Strong
Amanda talks about how many times she's had to show up for events when they're in a bad place in their relationship. She seems like they're always in a bad place.
Will Friedle
Yeah. Were you ever in a good place?
Rider Strong
And then Amanda drops a bomb that she's found an apartment but it's a one year lease.
Will Friedle
It's a 16 year lease.
Rider Strong
Yeah. I'm sorry. So we're still together. Still together, right? And then Kyle says, come on. I know I'm, I'm supposed. I feel like I want to fight for you, but the whole idea of separated. And then she corrects it to creating a separation. I'm like, guys, just divorce. Break up. Say what this means.
Will Friedle
Break up. It's not together break.
Rider Strong
Paper cut, like severance thing. That's so painful to watch. It's like episode. They're just cutting. It's like slicing a little, little, little, little tiny paper cut. Deeper, deeper. It's like just cut your arm off, Rake. You got to do it.
Will Friedle
You're done. Break up.
Rider Strong
And they say for the purpose of today's podcast, which they are going to do a podcast, let's keep all our private matters private. Which they say in front of a reality crew following TV show, of course. And they start the podcast, which is called Boys Lie. Cut to Kenny and Whitney at dinner. She says, had a crazy week. Kenny says, what's so crazy? Cut back to the Boys Lie podcast, where they just happen to be talking about losing the spark in a relationship. And Kyle says, well, when the spark's not there, it's your relationship. You start looking elsewhere on a podcast.
Will Friedle
Kyle, you know other people are listening to this, right?
Rider Strong
Back at dinner, Whitney. Whitney brings up that Kyle said you didn't have. You. You. You don't think there's a spark here? And on Kenny's face. I think Kenny's gonna be really, really pissed at his friend Kyle.
Will Friedle
I think he absolutely should be.
Rider Strong
Yeah, me too.
Will Friedle
Just keep your mouth shut.
Rider Strong
You're my boy, dude. When you're expressing misgivings about your relationship to a friend, like, that's pretty sacred to me.
Will Friedle
Yep.
Rider Strong
Do you know what I mean?
Will Friedle
100%.
Rider Strong
First of all, if you're doing that like that, you know, like, because it's not something that I do that often, but if I do open up, up, it's like, here's what's going on in my relationship. Like, I definitely do not. Like, I'm maybe I expect that that person to maybe, probably maybe discuss it with their wife, their partner. You know what I mean? Like, I could see that, that.
Will Friedle
Yeah, there's kind of a you can't tell anybody.
Rider Strong
You're not gonna tell our friend group, right? Oh, I hear Ryder and Alex are having troubles with blah, blah, blah, or Ryder's been really upset the way Alex has such and such.
Will Friedle
Such I would tell Susan.
Rider Strong
Awful.
Will Friedle
And then it wouldn't leave the house.
Rider Strong
Basically. Yeah. I think I would assume that if I open up, I kind of assume that it's going to your wife. I would pretty much feel like that's
Will Friedle
the only time that would not happen. Because I've known you for 35 years. If you looked at me and said this is just between you and me, please don't even tell Susan and it was something. Not having nothing to do with sue and I. It was just you.
Rider Strong
Yes.
Will Friedle
Then I. I would honor you keep that trust. 100 but I think if. I think.
Rider Strong
I assume if I tell you something it's to going but if it goes to another friend or some especially a mutual friend of ours.
Will Friedle
Awful.
Rider Strong
That's awful.
Will Friedle
I agree. I agree 100%. That's. That's just lame. Yeah.
Rider Strong
So I think. I think Kenny's got a very good reason to. To just tell Kyle to keep his mouth shut and maybe. Maybe stop drinking a little bit. Jeez.
Will Friedle
It seems pretty bad. Was it a Maddie?
Maddie
Yes.
Will Friedle
Has he was. Was it 10 years of summer house of this guy just boozing?
Maddie
Oh yeah. The whole time. He doesn't. He doesn't stop. Yeah.
Rider Strong
Is he a good dj?
Will Friedle
Dj drinks a lot.
Maddie
I. I wouldn't say he's horrible, but he's just kind of like, you know, just a random reality star that tried something new, you know.
Will Friedle
Right, right, right.
Maddie
But he is. I mean. Yeah. For 43 and he stayed the night at a fan's house and he's. Did I. Oh my God. There are things.
Rider Strong
Stay the night at a fan's house.
Will Friedle
What?
Maddie
I thought that this was discussed on in the city. But yeah, he. He basically DJed like all night and then I guess him and his brother went back to a fan's house and he fell asleep there until like 4 in the morning and got back to at 6am so it's like. I do see the concern.
Will Friedle
Not okay. Yeah. Okay.
Maddie
It's not okay. So he's. He's not the best guy.
Rider Strong
When the rose is flowing, man, she might.
Will Friedle
Yeah. But then when you leave your woman to by herself, that's when she starts ordering that milk. And you just never know what's going to happen. Maddie, is there anything we need to know from the summer house reunions?
Maddie
Yes, but really quick. I did look up Manhattan milk. Frank Little delivery service. So not only are they milk and dairy, they are eggs, fresh fruits, vegetables. And they deliver it to local like coffee shops and homes. It seems so bizarre. I was trying to Read about it, but it's. They call it farm to table delivery service.
Rider Strong
Do they say something about like. Like muscular.
Will Friedle
Goodlook, guys.
Rider Strong
Good.
Maddie
No, actually, they're just talking about how they do organic and it's like from
Will Friedle
local farmers and we use Orgasmic Dairy. Nice. So, okay, so. Okay, so he's worst Door dash.
Rider Strong
Maybe. So maybe it's Pink Dot. Remember Pink Dot?
Will Friedle
Oh, God. Pink Dot was this.
Rider Strong
Pink Dot was the best.
Will Friedle
Remember one night, seriously, no joke. I ordered a pack of cigarettes and a pack of condoms. It was there in 20 minutes.
Rider Strong
That was it.
Will Friedle
That was the only thing we ordered.
Rider Strong
I mean, Pink Dot is just now what we expect from Doordash and all this stuff.
Will Friedle
But you could just order a sandwich. It was great.
Rider Strong
Oh, my God. There was another one. When I moved to New York in 2000, there was a company. I'm gonna. I gotta figure out what it. But it was a company that they deliver movies to your door.
Maddie
Oh.
Rider Strong
And I ordered. Not only. I ordered a freaking DVD player and a set of DVDs and they delivered it to the house. It was amazing.
Will Friedle
That's brilliant.
Rider Strong
What was the name of that place? But you could order. Yeah, you could order CDs, DVDs and VHS to your house. Oh, my God, it was so cool. It went out of business pretty quickly.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
Cosmo. Yes, Cosmo. Oh, my God, I love that. I love that. You know, you didn't even know you were here. Easton's here. Cosmo.
Will Friedle
Now, Pink Dot had the best sandwich called the Turkey Gobbler was the greatest. Six bucks.
Rider Strong
I remember playing poker till like four in the morning ordering Pink Dot. Yeah, it was how everybody got their cigarettes. Of course.
Will Friedle
And there was no minimum. So you could like, get a pack of Guts Dumb. Yeah, it was crazy.
Rider Strong
And porn magazines. Yeah, you could order porn magazines. I'm pretty sure that's what people did. It was like. And beer. It was like. It was like all the. Oh, yeah. And then they had sandwiches. Yeah. And it was like late night. That was the only thing you could get sometimes.
Will Friedle
Turkey Gobbler and a pack of Camels. Thank you, Pink Dot.

This week on the podcast, I'm sitting down with Wil Wheat, who played Gordie Lachance in stand by me 40 years ago and now narrates Stephen King's the Body, the novella that inspired it all. We talk about what it's like to return to a story that shaped his life, channeling his memories of River Phoenix in the recording booth, and why the friendships you have at 12 might be the most important ones you'll ever have.

Will Friedle
We need to start what we were going to call the Maddie minute.
Rider Strong
Okay.
Will Friedle
Which is we'd like. We'd like to know exactly what we need to know. Can you give us the highlights of the summer house rental reunions or what's going on?
Maddie
Yes, absolutely.
Rider Strong
Let's.
Maddie
Let's get into it. I kind of talked before about how west is kind of made out to be this guy who only cares what people think. So he's kind of getting some heat on him now. He had a whole girlfriend, like, throughout the whole summer house. Season 10, when he was making out with Sierra, making out with other girls, he had a girlfriend. And he told her, yeah, I'm gonna get fired from my job because you're not in the Bravo sphere, so I can't make you public. But I love you and you're my girlfriend. And so. He is horrible.
Will Friedle
Wow.
Maddie
I know. So he's kind of living this double life, and that's what everyone's saying. Like, you are totally different in real life than you are on the show. So that puts it into perspective because he's so likable, and it's kind of scary. Maybe like.
Rider Strong
Like psychopath, like, likable on the streets. Boy in the sheets, my friend.
Will Friedle
Exactly.
Maddie
Now you know what boy means. You're just gonna use it all the time. Yeah, but that was really, like, west thing. Amanda was just kind of like, smirking and being smug and trying to defend herself.
Rider Strong
It was just together still.
Maddie
Yeah, they're still together. And she's like, basically, west is Kyle 2.0. He parties all the time. And so they're like, you are talking about Kyle's behavior. Like, he's going out and DJing and drinking all the time, but now you're dating someone that's just like him, but, like, 10 years younger. Like, it doesn't. It's just. It's just kind of ridiculous.
Will Friedle
Yeah. How's my girl Sierra doing? How's she doing?
Maddie
I love her. She's. She's incredible. She is so well spoken, and she is making little jabs towards Amanda and West, but I think. Think rightfully so. She's like. She's like, Amanda, you were. You were my best friend. I never thought we'd be having this conversation. And I was a great friend to you. I called you when I saw Kyle making out with someone. Like, you were the. I called you first thing and look at what you did to me type of thing. So it's very. It's sad for Sierra.
Will Friedle
And then she still told her to off.
Maddie
Yes, she still told her to off.
Rider Strong
I know.
Maddie
And then Kyle is. He is not a good person either. It's just. He called Amanda dumbass bitch, like, under his breath during summer house. So not at the reunion, but during the summer house, like, filming of it all. He called her that. And it's just like, Kyle, like, that's your wife, dude.
Rider Strong
That's. That's a bummer. Because, I mean, my. My take on Kyle so far is just. I don't. I don't want to be mean, but that. He's just not that bright. Yeah, he's just. Yeah, like, you know, like, and. But. But. But that's. You know, he's also seems to be mean, too. Yeah.
Maddie
Yeah. I think he's not emotionally intelligent. And when he gets drunk and mad, he's like the type to just, oh, my God, you guys.
Rider Strong
Blah, blah, blah.
Maddie
And it's just takes it to the next level. Not emotionally. Yeah, Intelligent.
Rider Strong
Now, people do throw drinks at one another in these shows, right?
Maddie
He did. Yes, Kyle did. He threw. Well, he threw a drink at the house, and it almost hit this guy named Carl. It's.
Ryan Seacrest
There was.
Will Friedle
Carl's. Lindsay's ex, right?
Maddie
Yes, Carl is Lindsay's ex.
Rider Strong
Okay, so so far, we haven't had anybody storm out of an event yet.
Will Friedle
No, but we saw previews for the next one.
Rider Strong
Somebody storms out.
Will Friedle
You think it's Andre? Looks like storms out.
Maddie
Oh, yes. And Amanda did. Amanda did leave. Amanda did leave the reunion as well. She needed to take a break.
Will Friedle
Okay. She probably. Well, hopefully she didn't meet anybody on the hallway.
Rider Strong
All right, so Andre is going to be the first to leave to storm out of a. All right, we'll see.
Cal Penn
So.
Will Friedle
Yeah, I think so. It was for previews for the next one when. Because I think Kenny confronts him because it was. He was the one. Oh. He was having a photo shoot with somebody, and he said, there's no spark. And that got back to Bubba. So he confronts him, and that's when he's like, you are not talking to a wall. And he walks out.
Maddie
Yes, that's exactly right.
Will Friedle
Yeah.
Rider Strong
Wow. All right.
Will Friedle
Wait, I got a drink for you, Please. So the episode tonight should be sipped while. Should be watched while sipping the affair cocktail.
Maddie
Ooh.
Will Friedle
Yes. The affair cocktail is 2 ounces of strawberry schnapps. No, 2 ounces of orange juice, 2 ounces of cranberry juice, and club soda. Pour the schnapps, orange juice, and cranberry juice over Ice in a highball glass and somebody who you're not married to.
Rider Strong
Hold on. Hold on.
Will Friedle
Is the affair.
Rider Strong
Cocktail. Say it again. Say it again. Schnapp. Strawberry schnapps.
Will Friedle
2 ounces of strawberry schnapp, 2 ounces of orange juice, 2 ounces of cranberry juice, and club soda.
Rider Strong
That is so sweet. That is like pure sugar.
Will Friedle
That's why I like vodka in a glass.
Rider Strong
Yeah, exactly. Vodka or bourbon in a glass.
Will Friedle
That's it.
Rider Strong
Horrible.
Will Friedle
But this is. Yeah. Then you top it with club soda and serve.
Rider Strong
Did you ever. Did we ever drink Dr. Pepper Poppers together? What is a Dr. Pepper Popper? Oh, love the name. It's. I don't. I don't know why it's called a Dr. Pepper. It's the only schnapps I ever drank, which you get root beer schnapps, and you drop it into a Guinness. So you drop the shot into a Guinness and then you drink it. And what it does is with the root beer schnapps, with the beer, it's for some reason, tastes, I guess, enough like Dr. Pepper that we called them Dr. Pepper poppers.
Will Friedle
I have not. No.
Rider Strong
Oh, my God. And I love a Guinness in my apartment in la. When we were on, boy, I remember that was like. We, like, did that definitely. At least. Least two or three parties, we would be like Dr. Pepper Poppers. I thought maybe you would have been there for it. All right. I don't think I've had one since then, so. Exactly. 1999 would have been the last time I had that.
Will Friedle
When you're exactly.
Rider Strong
It was like, still when, like, gold schlager made sense. Oh, you know, like, where you could just sip a. You're like, it has gold in it, and it's a peppermint. That's like a Schn.
Will Friedle
No. You know, you're at one of those parties when at, you know, 12:30 night, somebody says the word Jagerman Meister. That's when you're like, okay, I'm at a high school party.
Rider Strong
Jagermeister. It has a unique flavor. I can kind of.
Will Friedle
It's not a bad flavor, but it's not a bad. No one. It starts with a Jagermeister. It's the ninth shot they take of the night when they're already blacked out. Is y. Like, I had Jagermeister. Yeah.
Rider Strong
I just remember Bo Bo Amber Ale. No, boont. What was it? It's like a wine that girls used to always drink in college. Oh, God.
Maddie
Gosh.
Rider Strong
Southern Comfort.
Will Friedle
Who drove Soo. Yeah. SoCo my friend. Do you know that Janice Joplin drank so much Southern Comfort on stage that she called the company and said, I drink so much on stage that you owe me a fur coat. And they bought her a fur coat.
Rider Strong
Crazy.
Will Friedle
That's how can you believe she died
Rider Strong
at the age of 27?
Will Friedle
What are the chances?
Rider Strong
What are the chances?
Will Friedle
The chances that an alcohol come. He's like, you're right, we do. We owe you a fur coat.
Rider Strong
I love her voice.
Will Friedle
Me too. She's the best.
Rider Strong

Hosts: Rider Strong, Will Friedle, with Maddie (guest/fan commentator)
Podcast: iHeartPodcasts
This episode transports listeners straight into the chaotic social world of Bravo’s reality series “In The City,” as alumni from "Boy Meets World," Rider Strong and Will Friedle, break down episode three with humor, skepticism, and plenty of personal asides. Joined by Maddie, their resident Bravo expert, the hosts analyze relationships, drama, production tricks, and much more—juxtaposing the contrived reality of TV social warfare with insights from their own lives.
On Reality TV Conflict
"I just came to realize...I don’t like conflict. So an entire show based around conflict—I felt anxious the whole time."
— Will Friedle (03:34)
On Fake Confessional Apartments
"The world is literally becoming a simulation. ...their confessions are set in a fake world."
— Rider Strong (16:04)
On Gender and Alcohol Choices
"If you’re truly comfortable in your gender identity, just do what you want to do."
— Rider Strong (27:45)
On Business & Relationships
"Can you imagine working for a company knowing that your CEO and his wife are going to be all over the tabloids constantly for a reality show?"
— Rider Strong (22:08)
On Spreading Relationship Doubts
"When you’re expressing misgivings about your relationship to a friend, that’s pretty sacred to me."
— Rider Strong (67:31)
On Apologizing Too Well for Reality TV
"You can’t have a show that sustains with one person admitting they were wrong and asking for forgiveness."
— Will Friedle (52:19)
This episode is a wide-ranging, engaging, and incisive (if irreverent) look at reality TV’s machinery—both on screen ("In The City" drama, faux apartments, producer interference) and offscreen (casting decisions, behind-the-scenes gossip, cultural analysis). Whether you’re a Bravo superfan or a skeptic, Rider and Will (with Maddie’s Bravo cred) make dysfunction fun, offer surprising insights about relationships and comedy, and keep the conversation both grounded and absurd.
Next up:
Expect even more ‘spark’ drama as the love triangle and group allegiances continue to ripple—and possibly drinks begin flying.
