Hey, I'm Ryan Reynolds. Recently I asked Mint Mobile's legal team if big wireless companies are allowed to raise prices due to inflation. They said yes. And then when I asked if raising prices technically violates those onerous two year contracts, they said, what the are you talking about, you insane Hollywood. So to recap, we're cutting the price of mint unlimited from $30 a month to just $15 a month. Give it a try@mintmobile.com Switch $45 upfront.

Hey, welcome back to POLITICO Tech. Today is Friday, January 24th. I'm Stephen Overle. Over a dozen books have been written about Elon Musk or his companies. Thousands and thousands of news articles, and of course, endless posts on his own social network, X. But my Politico colleague Michael Cruz set out to understand the billionaire businessman through his own words. 199 quotes from Musk that offer insight into his upbringing, his career, and his outlook. Michael's profile was published today on politico.com and I sat down with him to hear what he learned about Musk, how he is both similar to and different from President Donald Trump, and why that might test the limits of their opportunistic partnership. Here's our conversation. Michael, welcome to Politico Tech.
Michael Cruz (1:36)
Thanks for having me.
Stephen Overley (1:37)
All right, so Elon Musk's story, told through 199 of his own quotes. What did you learn about the man?
Michael Cruz (1:44)
Shoot, I learned everything. Or not everything, but a lot of what I was hoping to learn. I needed to do my Elon Musk reading. At this point, I feel sort of the way I felt at the very beginning of Donald Trump's political ascent. Here is this person that is an incredibly public figure, has lived decades, done things in public, important things, crazy things, consequential things, revealing things, but at the same time needed to do my homework. And so read the available biographies, from the first one, ashley Vance, about 10 years ago, to the more recent Walter Isaacson doorstop of a biography. Lots of books about SpaceX, lots of books about Tesla. So did my work, but not just to do the work, but to create a piece of content, hopefully. And I decided to do the 199 format. I've only done this one other time, and it was for Donald Trump in the summer of 2015. It was sort of my first foray into what Politico started to call Trumpology. It was the 199, most Donald Trump things Donald Trump has ever said. And so as I started to think about how to start to approach some version of that kind of work with respect to Elon Musk, my editor and I decided, you know, let's do 199, do it again.
