Exactly. And so I decided to take my big summer trip, apparently during a time when God would decide to have pop culture news descend upon Us like a torrential downpour. It was a tsunami of news, and it was the worst time for me to depart.

And you were really hard to get a hold of.

Oh, no, I'm not. It's not possible to get a hold of me when I'm on a trip. And please don't try. It's all I ask of people. It's so funny. My bestie, Elizabeth, was on the trip with me, and she was like, do you, like, chat with your family while you're gone? Do you check in? And I was like, honestly, not at all. She was like, well, that. It's, like, so funny because I have all these people messaging me, and they, like, are asking me for updates and for pics, and they're always asking me every day how things are going. Like, how was the dinner last night? And I was just like, I could not personally handle it. I could not personally handle that.

Yeah, I mean, you. You were pretty hard to get a hold of. I mean, I'm pretty unresponsive, too. I'll say.

Nicola in Brooklyn. You're so right. It's the names that are the problem. They said, their representative said that they didn't. It wasn't that they were on that they unfollowed is that they were blocked.

And they found out about it through the media.

Here's something I will say. I do think it's really sad, and I think that it. Honestly, if there's a lesson to be had here, if I can just Meghan, markle it up for a second and just have a little lesson time, I just. What? Just cute. I just think that, like, I think that some people. It's almost like. I don't know, I just feel like it doesn't matter how much you have or how much. How many planes, trains and automobiles you can go on and whatever the things, it's just like if you. If you don't have. If these family relationships are broken, it's just a really horrible thing. And I think sometimes. Oh, I don't know. I just think sometimes people that are in these spheres, they like, lose sight of what actually matters in life.

When I first saw the video, I thought, here's a nice age appropriate couple. Honestly, here's someone's mom and dad who are like, like, these people were giving, like, let's hold hands in two bathtubs for. In a Cialis commercial.

[Lauren]

Okay. They look like they're in their late 40s.

[Chandler]

Okay. That was that. I know they're not that old. That's just a joke. I just thought they were age appropriate. Like, it was two people who were like canoodling, holding each other, who were not teen.

[Lauren]

Yes. And they. Honestly, that is a redeeming part of the situation I had not fully comprehended.

Yeah. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. This could not have been a more sublime, hilarious moment. It was absolutely perfect. It was. It's just one of those things that like, the, the universe, I don't know, it's like the big Bang. It's just, it just happens.

And you, you just are grateful it did.

And then you just like to see then the fallout online of like, he's put on leave or like, he's fired, she's fired, like. And then he's suing Chris Martin.

Yes, exactly. Chandler. So this drama has not died down. Former astronomer CEO Andy Byron may sue Coldplay for showing him embracing Kristen Cabot. The HR chief of astronomer Andy Byron and Kristen Cabot hidden shame. After they were caught canoodling a Coldplay's concert near Boston last week, Chris Martin over the mic said, either they're having an affair or they're just very shy. So it's being reported that this, the former CEO is planning to file a lawsuit against Coldplay and the event organizers, citing, quote, emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

[Chandler]

Invasion of privacy with the kiss cam, you know, and something crazy here is that Byron needs to prove in the. In the court of law that Chris Martin knew or should have known that the disgraced CEO was not cheating, but made the statement anyway with malice, which.

[Lauren]

Is, huh, I think really gonna be a tough one.

[Chandler]

That's a tall fence to get over. I'm just gonna go ahead and say it.

[Lauren]

I also love this quote from an attorney that says, at a public concert with cameras and 70, 000 people, your expectation of privacy is near zero. It sounds like he's trying to shift the blame and that this, this is a long shot.

[Chandler]

This is a long shot. This is a cash grab. I mean, I think that is the biggest part of all this and why this feels a little bit like cosmic justice. Because it's like, if you're so bold and blatant with your affair that you're like, let's go to a concert where we could literally, like, run into anybody, anybody from our community. It's not like, I mean, I actually don't know for sure, but I'm guessing this is like where they live, this concert happened where they lived. It's not like they were in Singapore. Right. You know, or something like somewhere halfway across the world. But that's. That's pretty arrogant. It's pretty bold.

[Lauren]

It's very bold. And I also think that this guy is clearly, I don't know, he didn't take PR101. Why draw more attention? Like, this is literally just going to keep this in the news. I just want to say something about our culture. I love, I love the fact that we all united together and discussed how deplorable this was because we, we needed it. We needed something to unite us. And it's just like the moment our culture doesn't care about stuff like this and, and condones it or just is like apathetic and whatever.

[Chandler]

I don't know.

I just think it's the moment we will truly be living in a fallen world. And I just was. I was a little bit like, I was just happy to see that everyone was outraged because it is outrageous.

So one, one of the interesting things is Amy Odell, I believe she estimated Gwyneth would have made at least over a million dollars for this. Maybe like $2 million for this.

Like the amount of money Gwenneth makes for things that we don't even realize, like showing up at events, all these things. It's so unfathomable. But yeah, I just, I love to see it.

And I think it's just perfect in her lane, like self aware, funny, lovable. Like, this is just like, this is what she should be doing.

And so I'm, I'm happy that she was game.

And you know what she enjoys even more to take a soak in that gorgeous, you know, Edenica, beautiful spa in her basement in Montecito.

Okay, I'm happy for her. I mean, one thing that I will say, one of My takeaways from reading the book is just that I think that Gwyneth, I mean, I have a million takeaways from the book. I'm excited for the interview to come out. But I think one thing that is really interesting to me is it's just the finances of Goop. And I just think that, you know, if there is a paid opportunity, Gwyneth is going to take it.

[Lauren]

Oh, okay, Wait, this is so interesting because I don't know anything about this. What are you saying that Goop doesn't cash flow that much to Gwyneth?

[Chandler]

I mean, I have truly no clue about how much cash flow goes to her, but I just don't think that Gwyneth has it fully made in the shade. Yeah. For her lifestyle at this point. Like, I don't think, like, I just feel like if she was truly was like, above everything.

[Lauren]

Yeah, no, it's.

And she had made all of her money, she just, like, wouldn't need to do stuff like this. No, she wouldn't need to do some of her, like, copper Fit ads. And like, that's one thing that I kind, kind of love about her is that she, like, is still, like, kind of getting checks cut.

For jobs that she's doing. You're right.

She's just. She's. Celebrities are just like us. They're doing those Instagram ads.

They're. She's not just. You're so right. She's not just, like, had her huge exit and on a super yacht.

Right. Like, and she's still kind of, to me, the whole face of Goop, like, there is no Goop without Gwyneth at this point, in my opinion. Like, I think if the. If Gwyneth were to step away from Goop, I don't think people would care about the brand as much. That's just from my own perspective, I don't feel like, like the. The love and loyalty that I have to Gwyneth, like, it hasn't always translated to, like, love and loyalty for Goop.

Yeah. It's interesting because I think a lot about, like, Tahaney coming back to Outdoor Voice. Yes.

[Chandler]

Yeah.

[Lauren]

And how I'm. I'm all of a sudden, I refollowed Outdoor Voices. I signed up to get the notification when the drop happens. I thought that the workout set that they previewed, that almost looks Missoni looks so effing cute.

[Chandler]

So cute.

Like, I cannot wait to wear Outdoor Voices again.

[Chandler]

Yeah.

And some of these brands, like the founders, really are the heart and soul.

[Chandler]

Yes.

[Lauren]

And it is. It's very difficult, I think, to create a brand that can be sustainable if you have a super charismatic founder behind it. If the founder leaves.

And I kind of wonder like, what this means for Road.

[Lauren]

Oh, well, the Road thing is interesting though because that bet is primarily on the, like the company, I believe it was. Was it Elf who bought that? Bought it?

[Chandler]

I can't remember.

[Lauren]

Anyway, it's. There's definitely like the way the deal is structured from what I remember. It's hazy but like a lot of the payouts come over time based on performance to stay and Haley has to stay a part of it. But she does get these huge payouts and I do believe it's like she might have to stay there for four years.

[Chandler]

Yeah.

[Lauren]

And what someone talked about in a substack article I read that was very interesting was like, you consider rode versus goop. Road has, I think, I think it's like under 50 employees. It has had 10 SKUs. This is like a very lean operation.

[Chandler]

Right.

[Lauren]

And it's only been around for two years and all of a sudden it's like a unicorn. It's getting sold for a billion. And Haley Bieber is going to get her big payday and huge cash out. And Gwyneth Paltrow, on the other hand, has over multiple decades built this huge brand, has hundreds of employees. And I have, like, I have heard from people who've worked there only glowing things to say. She's extremely involved. She's in the office, she's at weekly standups.

[Chandler]

The book says a little some things differently than that. Oh, really? Yeah, I would be. I think you should read it.

[Lauren]

Well, I certainly will.

[Chandler]

I've heard. I've also heard plenty of good things too. And there are. The book's not all bad about working.

[Lauren]

Yeah, I mean, I'm sure she's not there every second of every day. But all to say, I think this has been a harder, longer road for Haley 100. And it would be interesting psychologically to know what in Gwyneth's mind like, when she sees that, is it just like, what the hell, you know?

[Chandler]

Right. Totally, totally.

And also I'm kind of so curious about, like. Like, I'm so curious if there's a part of Gwyneth that just like kind of cringes when she posts the copper fit. Like, yeah, like I was trying to.
