We have all heard the phrase "Leadership Homogenized". But what does it mean and why is it important to understand the difference between leadership and management? In this episode of our podcast series, we will explore the differences between the two and how they are related to success in life and business. The world of leadership is a vast and ever-growing one, with over 20,000 books in print defining the concept. Leadership has long been contrasted with management, but it can also be conflated with its success. Many have become exhausted of the endless debates between leaders and managers, visionaries and those who execute their visions... When it comes to options in life and business, one can either lead, follow or get out. Getting out is pointless as it concedes defeat before even starting anything; following is not much better as being ordinary leads to obscurity. We will also discuss the 72 things a leader is not and 26 things a leader is or does that make them successful in their endeavours. In this episode Steven J Manning and Nathaniel Schooler discuss: Art the janitor. Core competencies, why you need to care and be faithful to them. Competencies are not to be confused with self-confidence, ambition, intelligence or brain-power. - monkeys flying space shuttles - cobblers performing brain surgery – cheap tv. And there's lots more in this episode. Not one to be missed!

Don’t look a gift-horse in the mouth. Steven’s take: never ignore a horse coming your way! Ignore this nonsense: opportunities are just around the corner. Nonsense. They are right in front of you or you find those when you actively seek them! Opportunity will not knock on your door. It is not around the corner. If you don’t believe that, give it a try standing outside, close your eyes really tight and wish to be taller, better looking, richer? not going to happen. However ... there is always a ”however”, is there not? Some of the stuff he sold makes him think of that great lyric made famous by Ray, Goodman & Brown -- even more famous years later by the Beegees: how can love so right be so wrong. seems i turned that upside down often: how can love so wrong turn out to be so right!

In Episode II Philosophies Of Life: Life Is Not A Dress Rehearsal: Nathaniel Schooler and Steven J Manning discuss: Life Is Not A Dress Rehearsal Life Without Passion Is Not A Life Worth Living Seek Knowledge Every Day Inventory Of Knowledge Every Day Life Is Exhaustively Scripted Tragi-Comedy Here are some of Steven's thoughts and talking points: "* For you personally, if you have all your basic needs met, do you feel you have enough in life? First, allow me to give you my rather pedestrian definition of success: to have options in life. Being able to seek and find satisfaction in life in ways that I want to and am able to pursue, not at the expense of others. This from my column Pillars Of Success, which is the most often requested talk and interview I am asked to give. No. I do not have enough in life. I hope and pray I never will. As written herein-above, I live with certain philosophies, those that guide my life. Top of the list are two: ∙ LIFE IS NOT A DRESS REHEARSAL ∙ A LIFE WITHOUT PASSION IS A LIFE NOT WORTH LIVING Is all that a source of discontent for me? I admit to some dark hours and days, therefrom. However, mostly I think it is rather challenging. I think there is much to say about being the unhappiest person in the room, at the conclusion of a fabulously successful project, because of the certain knowledge that I could have done better."
