Leslie Jones
I would go to the other team, and I would be like, I have five fouls, and I'm going to use all five of them. Oh, this was my favorite move. Grabbing the ball. Pound cash. Oh, I'm breaking everybody.
Candace Parker
Oh, you putting the elbows up.
Aaliyah Boston
Honestly, with the elbows, you really could be my player comp.
Leslie Jones
Block it out. I would. I wish you would try to get the rebound over me.
Candace Parker
Leslie would have two upgraded. Upgraded flagrant.
Aaliyah Boston
She would already be out before the first quarter's done.
Leslie Jones
Yo, let me tell you something, Candace. One time I chased the player down, and she was going up for a layup, and I knocked that girl so hard. That girl still hurt from that. The whole team jumped from the bench to come get me, and my team came and defend me. But after the game, they was like, why would you do that to that girl? I was like, she didn't score, though.
Candace Parker
What's up, everyone? And welcome back to another episode of Post Moves. I'm Candace Parker, here with my coach, co host, Aaliyah Boston.
Aaliyah Boston
That's me.
Candace Parker
Yep. And you. The Post Ups are gonna follow us at Postmoose show on all socials. And don't forget to hit the subscribe button on YouTube, Spotify, Apple, or wherever you get your podcast.
Aaliyah Boston
And we have a really fun guest joining us today. The one and only Leslie Jones, who, as you guys will find out later in the podcast, I seem to be her player comp. Okay, so I can't wait to hear.
Candace Parker
Cause y' all both hacks. Y' all both like to hack, Y' all both like to foul. Let's just get that out the way. All right, but before we have that conversation, how was your week?
Aaliyah Boston
You know, my week was really great. I don't know how much you really pay attention to me, but if you notice, I don't have glasses today. And if you're wondering why, Mr. Oswald, her dog, he took a bite.
Candace Parker
Were they on your face when he did this?
Aaliyah Boston
No, they weren't. But he was. He was somewhere he really didn't need to be. And it was just confusing to me because he has all his toys there, but yet he found something that I needed.
Candace Parker
Yep, that's what dogs do.
Aaliyah Boston
So here I am. No vision.
Candace Parker
So, yeah, Post Ops, send us what crazy things your dogs have eaten, because I have three of them. I actually have a Rottweiler, but back in college, I had a St Bernard mix. She was more like St Bernard Australian Shepherd. Really smart, really big. Her name was Fendi. I had Fendi and Prada. They were the best Dogs ever. Anyway, RIP Fendi and Prada.
Basically, she ate my entire shoe. Like, I left her in the bathroom. I went to class, I came back. Somehow I left my shoes in there. She ate an entire shoe. So I had to take her to the vet, you know, do all that stuff. And in college, there was no nil money. So. Yeah, like, she ran that check. Yeah. $2,000 later, I was like, you're taking my whole stipend. You're taking my whole Christmas per diem.
Aaliyah Boston
There's no money.
Candace Parker
For a while I was like, you getting imes? You're not getting no farmer's dog. I mean, there was no farmer's dog at that time. But you're not getting good food. You're getting some. I. So, yeah, that, that. So send us what crazy things your dogs have eaten. Because I just want to know. But I like you without glasses. I like you with glasses. But I really.
Aaliyah Boston
I don't know. I'm still. I just always have something on my face. You know what I'm saying? So it's like. It's very weird. How was your week, though? How was your weekend?
Candace Parker
It was great. Just got back from Mexico. I went to this new resort and it's been open for like three years. It's in Tamarindo, Mexico. It was probably one of the best top five vacations I've ever been on, to be honest with you. It was gorgeous. I mean, just like private beaches, warm water. I sat. Started a new JFK book. I'm obsessed with jfk. So. Started his new book.
And I shouldn't say his new book. A new book about him.
Aaliyah Boston
Sorry, I don't know if he wrote it.
Candace Parker
I don't think he wrote a new book. But I started that and just. It was my wife's birthday, so we got to celebrate. Her and the kids were not with us, which was amazing. So. Yeah. And Sagittarius season. My wife's birthday's on Jay Z's birthday, so that's always cool. It's always the awkward, like, I gotta post her at the beginning of the day and then I have to wait. And then I'm like, yo, shout out to Jay Z. It's his birthday.
Leslie Jones
Yeah.
Candace Parker
Yeah. But you have a birthday coming up. 12, 11.
Aaliyah Boston
I do have a birthday coming up. December 11th. The best day of the year. Like, what?
Candace Parker
Okay, so basically when this episode airs, your birthday will be the next day.
Aaliyah Boston
Yes.
Candace Parker
So all the post ups, I need you to flood Aaliyah's picture that she's for sure gonna post for her birthday.
Aaliyah Boston
I'm actually trying to find. I'm. What do you think I should do? Should I just do, like, the same type of vibe, or should I just do, like, a bunch of pictures from throughout the whole year?
Candace Parker
No, I think you do, like, one freaking picture. Like, one picture where you're like, yes. Like, what do you mean, my picture? No, no, don't do a carousel. Do just one picture. Like, the iconic. I am. You're turning 25, right?
Aaliyah Boston
I'm turning 24.
Candace Parker
Oh, my gosh. You're not even 24 yet. This is insane. I. This whole time, I thought you were 24 and a half.
Aaliyah Boston
No, 23 and a half.
Candace Parker
This is wild. Wow. Okay, whatever.
Aaliyah Boston
Let's move.
Candace Parker
You know what? Do a carousel pictures. So what are you gonna do for your 25th? Because that's, like, your next big birthday.
Aaliyah Boston
Yeah, I don't really. I don't really know.
Candace Parker
Are you doing anything for this birthday?
Aaliyah Boston
I'm. I will be trucking it down to USA Basketball training camp.
Candace Parker
So you'll be in a float tank. Cool. You'll be an assault float recovery tank. Great.
Leslie Jones
Or a.
Candace Parker
Or a hyperbaric chamber. Or a hyperbaric chamber. That is amazing. Yeah. I think you should do, like, a photo shoot. I. I'm gonna do a photo shoot for my 40th. So I'm. I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say it here so that it lives. So I did the body issue when I was 25. So I was 25. I did the body issue. ESPN. I had had a baby, and I was like. I just wanted to, like, show what the women's body can do and, like, whatever. So I want to recreate those pictures 15 years later when I turn 40. So I'm, like, on my, like, shred game because I'm like, gotta be naked. And, you know, so you're gonna slay.
Aaliyah Boston
You're gonna slay. Don't even worry.
Candace Parker
Okay, okay, okay, okay. But we gotta do, like, the 25 and 40.
Aaliyah Boston
Okay, sure.
Leslie Jones
All right.
Candace Parker
Next year, you're turning 25, and I'll be 40. It'll be perfect.
Aaliyah Boston
All right, let me start. Let me start planning now.
Candace Parker
Okay, well, we've gone off the rails, as always, and it's time for what we want to talk about. We've already talked about some of the stuff we want to talk about, but what we really want to talk about, presented by AT&T. Connecting our fans to everything happening on and off the court. So let's get to it. LeBron streak.
Aaliyah Boston
It's over.
Candace Parker
It's over. And he did it on passing up a potential game winning tying layup or no game winning layup to get his double digit scoring and continue that streak, to throw it to R. Haara in the corner for him to hit the game winner at the buzzer and yeah, LeBron. 1,297 straight games scoring 10 or more points.
Aaliyah Boston
That's really crazy though.
12.
That's really crazy.
Candace Parker
What's even crazier was when they were going through players that, you know, obviously SGA averaging almost 33 points per game, they were like, he would need to play until he's 41 and score double digits in every single game to even scratch the surface of LeBron's streak. They showed that. I was a sophomore, I believe in college the last time he scored single digits and I'm a whole grown ass woman with a 401k and three kids. It's wow.
Aaliyah Boston
Don't forget the dogs. Don't forget the dogs.
Candace Parker
And accept Ira. But his, his crazy streak was, if it was going to end, the best way to end it was making the right play.
Aaliyah Boston
Yeah.
Candace Parker
I don't know, I just think it's remarkable what he's able to accomplish. I don't think we should brush over greatness.
Because that streak started on January 6, 2007, and it went on for 17 years. So he is almost. His streak was almost legal. His streak could almost vote.
Aaliyah Boston
That's actually crazy.
Candace Parker
The iPhone didn't exist.
Luca was seven years old, so his teammate was seven years old. George W. Bush was president. Instagram didn't exist. Kevin Durant wasn't in the league. Harry Potter books weren't finished.
Aaliyah Boston
He's been hoping. Man, that's literally crazy. That's an insane streak. 17 years.
Candace Parker
Would you have tried to get the. The last two points?
Aaliyah Boston
No, I probably would have kicked it. We're big guards over here.
Leslie Jones
You don't believe me?
Candace Parker
A regular season victory in Toronto or letting the streak continue?
Aaliyah Boston
Okay, I probably would have went for the point. I probably would have went to score. I mean, I'm just trying to be, you know, like.
You know.
You know, yeah, I probably would have scored. I probably would have taken a shot. Unless, like, the double came and there was really no other option. I probably would have shot it.
Candace Parker
But you know what's so interesting is as you get older, there are some nights you just realize you do not have it, that you're able to impact the game in other ways other than scoring. You leave all that, like, scoring to the younger generation and you Just like, try to use your brain. And that, to me is like the most LeBron play. The thing that I have an issue with is like, the people, the time and score and scenarios. Because back when he played for Cleveland, before he went to Miami, everybody was like, oh, superstar doesn't want to take the last shot, doesn't have the balls to take the last shot. Oh, the whole narrative changes. Wins four championships, and now it's like he always makes the right play. Da, da, da. And so it's just like you really have to, as an athlete, try to make the right play no matter what people are saying. And that's what LeBron has continued to do in his 21 year career. And so it is just remarkable to watch him continue to dominate in a different way. Like, there's a difference in dominance in the way he does it now. He does it with his head, he does it with his mind.
And he does it with just like putting people in place to be successful. So it's been amazing watching him play this year. All right, we're going to move on to the WNBA CBA negotiations. Last week we talked about how the current CBA got extended to January 9, 2026. So we got a little time through the holidays. But more info came out that the WNBA's latest proposal included cutting team housing, lengthening season with training camp starting as early as mid March, and mandatory draft combine. To be eligible for the draft, invited players would be required to participate. Players that are invited and elect not to participate without an excused absence would have their salaries reduced.
Aaliyah Boston
That's a lot. I feel like for me, especially the part that was very shocking was the team housing, especially being a rookie for obviously being the number one pick was different. Like, you just knew I was getting drafted. Wherever I went, that was my squad, I was going to be there. But for other rookies who you never know, like, you get drafted now, you have to go and look for a place, put yourself in a lease. You don't know if you're on the team. If you're not, then all of a sudden you're like, you're on a different team. You come back. That's just a lot. That is just a lot. And that's very difficult for people coming out of college, trying to figure things out. So I. Yeah, that one's different for me.
Candace Parker
I think the thing that jumps out to me is the lack of conversation of extending the roster. So making sure that there's more players that can be on your roster. Also, mid March is wild considering there are Players that are still going to be playing. Yeah, like, I got drafted the day after my season ended. So we won the national championship on a Monday. The draft was Tuesday. I thought that was insane because to me, the emotional, all of that. And in women's basketball, because women are required to stay the four years or until they graduate, a lot of the number one picks are going to be missing training camp and those are your centerpieces of your franchise. So that's what sticks out to me the most. Initially. There were so many injuries last season. I do agree with extending the season so that there's more days in between.
Because of the amount of injuries. You think about like Nafisa Collier getting hurt. She didn't even get to play in that, you know, game clinching. You talk about all the injuries that your team had throughout the year, but also in the playoffs with Kelsey Mitchell not being able to play in overtime.
So I just really what jumps out to me is like the lack of conversation about the deeper rosters. I understand that they're trying to do this whole training camp earlier so that players have to choose and not elect to play for Project B or not elect to play for unrivaled. So I think there's lots to discuss and figure out on both sides before the January 9 deadline. But I'm with you on the team housing. If you're not guaranteeing spots, how am I going to commit to a lease that I might not. I might get cut tomorrow? So more to come on that. We'll. We'll see where that ends up. But more to come. It's crazy. It's Forbes 30 under 30, which really 30 under. Well, one under 24 we know was on that list.
Aaliyah Boston
You didn't have to. You. You didn't have to say like, I'm.
Candace Parker
Just like, you should have been on 25 under 25 because this is wild. Congrats to Aaliyah Boston on being named to the 2026 Forbes 30 under 30 for sports. Forbes highlights young leaders driving change across business, culture and entrepreneurship. So of course you're building an empire and you haven't even turned 24. So let's just go through. You're expanding your entrepreneurial portfolio. Co host of Post moves.
Or do I say bow bow bow. My mom asked me what bow bow bow was yesterday, so I'm gonna need for you to explain that to her later in the show. NBC Sports gig. Investor in the new NWSL expansion team Boston legacy. I mean, when did you find out? What does this mean to you? It is A big deal. Don't downplay it.
Aaliyah Boston
I like that you had to add that at the end because that's literally. I mean, no, it was exciting.
Leslie Jones
My.
Aaliyah Boston
My agency, you know, they reached out and they told us and I was just super excited because I just think it's a big opportunity. But for me, I also feel like I'm like, calm, cool, collective. So you said don't downplay it. So I'll just say it's pretty dope. It's a pretty dope feeling.
Candace Parker
Well, it speaks to your balance of hoops, business and media. And other names that are on the list. Paige Beckers, Coco Goff, Trinity Rodman, sga, Wemby, Josh Allen, Saquon Barkley. I mean, there's a lot of athletes that are doing a lot of things on and off the field, on and off the court. But who else on this list, like, stands out to you that you would want to be a podcast guest or someone that you kind of model your off the court athletic endeavors?
Aaliyah Boston
I really love Coco Golf. I love Coco Golf. I remember when we were watching her compete and I remember texting my mom like, dang, like, I know I love basketball, but dang, like, imagine being Coco Golf. And it's just kind of funny because, like, we're very similar in age, I believe. I don't even know how old Coco is, but we got to be somewhere right there. Right? Right. Like, we got to be. And it's just like so cool seeing her. And when I met her, I was kind of like starstruck. I was like, this is pretty awesome. This is pretty awesome. So I definitely say Coco.
Candace Parker
Yeah, I like that. And I love what she's doing on and off the court. I love how she's using her platform, but also keeping the main thing. The main thing. So you know, I'm going to yell in your ear all the time and cheer for you, be your light, your biggest cheerleader. I think the sky's the limit for you, but we gonna keep the main thing. The main thing. Okay, and that's post moves. No, I'm just playing. It's basketball.
All right, that's a wrap for what we want to talk about presented by AT&T. Connecting changes everything.
Aaliyah Boston
I think it's time we bring on our guests. She's a WNBA super fan, a Sparks court sized legend, and one of the funniest humans, the one, the only, Leslie Jones.
After we won the national championship in 2022, I saw you, Candace, in the crowd and I just grabbed the mic and said it. I love you girl.
Candace Parker
And I felt that because I saw myself in you. The joy, the pressure, the entire journey.
Aaliyah Boston

All right, Leslie Jones, thanks for, for joining us on post Moves. You know, I like, do you. You want to hit a little shimmy?
Aaliyah Boston
It's the post.
Candace Parker
It's the post move show.
Leslie Jones
Okay.
Candace Parker
Okay.
Well, thank you for taking time. I know you've been touring. Leslie Jones live. How has that been going? Catch us up. I know you're on break right now, but you about to get back to it.
Leslie Jones
So fun. Like, I, I'm amazed at the demographic of my audiences now. And it's like predominantly white now more than when I first started out and it was predominantly black, right? So, like some places I go to and I have to look for the black people. I'll be like, is there any black people in this town? And then you'll hear this white woman go, no, but we love you last night.
Candace Parker
So how has that transformation been? Like, do you go into a different pocket for jokes? Are you still just Leslie, like, it don't matter.
Leslie Jones
I write, I write jokes for everyone, not just for one. You have to be that if you're gonna be a successful entertainer, you have to perform for everybody. So, yeah, I, I write my jokes across the line that they work everywhere.
Aaliyah Boston
So I want to take it back a little bit. So what got you into the comedy and stand up field?
Leslie Jones
I was on scholarship playing basketball, Colorado State. I had transferred from Chapman College in Orange county to Colorado State. My coach brought me up there and he didn't tell me about Red Shirt. And I didn't know that you had to sit out, you know, a whole year, but you still had to do all the practice and stuff. Now, I wasn't, I'm not saying that I didn't love basketball, but basketball wasn't my love. Basketball was more of like, okay, it's an end to a means to an end, you know, paying for My college, you know, if I get to go overseas and play great. But I wasn't consistent, and I definitely didn't have the passion that you guys have. When I watch y' all play, it makes me cry inside, because I go, God, that's what my coach wanted me to do. Every time I see you guys do a move, I go, that's what Coach derog wanted me to do. That's. That's what Coach Berger wanted me to do. You know what I mean? So I knew I didn't have the passion for, but I didn't know what I had a passion for. And at all this time, I was making people laugh. I didn't know that I was making people laugh like that. I really didn't. I just thought I was silly, you know? You know how you can be silly with your friends. I didn't know I was. I didn't know that people were inviting me to parties because I was funny. I didn't know that people were just, like, having me over and stuff just because I was funny. So we were walking through the quad one day before practice, and my friend was like, yo, there's a contest on campus. Funniest person on campus. I'm gonna enter you into it. And I was like, why would you do. I'm not a comedian. Like, that's Whoopi Goldberg. That's Eddie Murphy. That's Richard Pryor. I'm not that. I'm just a silly clown. And she was like, girl, I think you funny. So she went to class. I went to class. And when we met up later that night, she was like, I signed you up for the contest. And I was like, girl, I was mad, but not mad, if that makes any sense. I was mad, but I think I was more scared. So we worked that whole week on the jokes that I was gonna do. And when I say that I showed up to this contest, and immediately, like, I knew the. You know, from playing basketball, you know, how to look at your opponents, you know, what their weaknesses. At least I was good at that. And I could tell that the comics from the town had came to the campus to try to win this contest. But I could tell that those comics weren't good comics in their world, because why would they be here, right? So they were trying to intimidate me. But, you know, I'm six feet tall. You ain't gonna intimidate me, bitch. I will dunk on you right now.
Candace Parker
Drop step. Drop step.
Leslie Jones
I'm six feet tall, bitch. I will punch you on the top of your Head, so I'm Nothing really scared me like that, but I was like, damn, am I going to be funny? And I'm telling y', all, as soon as I touched the mic, I don't know if you guys had this feeling of knowing what you was going to do the rest of your life, but as soon as I touched that mic, I knew that that's what I was going to be doing the rest of my life. It felt like I had already been doing it 10 years. That's how good it felt. So when I came off stage, oh, girl, I was crazy. They interviewed me for the favor because they knew had won the contest. And they was like, what do you. What is your goals? I was like, I'm going to be the next Eddie Murphy. You know.
That'S who I'm going to be. And then I was like. I had a. It just, like, a plan. I was like, I'm going back to la. I'm a fucking start doing clubs. And the first person I had to tell was my dad because I had lost my scholarship because I had a 1.8 grade point average. So they was like, y', all, we got to take that money back, son. So I called my dad and I said, yeah, Danny, I lost my scholarship. And he was like, what are you telling me? You lost your scholarship? That's crazy. I. I'll call the coach. We'll. We'll talk about it. We'll get you back. And I was like, I don't want you to talk to the coach. I don't want to play basketball no more. And he was like, well, what. What are you going to do? What. What do you. What are you going to do? And I was like, I'm gonna be a comic. And he was like, what. Who the fuck told you you was funny? He was like, I've known you my whole life. You've never made me laugh, ever. Who the. And then he calls my mom, Diane. Who the fuck told her? She's funny? Like.
He was like, you not finna. I was like, daddy, I'm gonna be the next Eddie Murphy. What? Eddie Murphy's not fucking Eddie Murphy. Are you fucking stupid? You have a full scholarship. And he was like, you're not coming back here without going to school or having a fucking job. There's no way. I was like, well, I'm not coming back there. I'm gonna go live with my boyfriend. Click.
Candace Parker
Oh.
Leslie Jones
And I didn't talk to him for two years.
But he was watching me. He was watching me because I had got on Bet everything I was.
Candace Parker
Can I ask you, did he laugh? Like, did you see him laugh at what he.
Leslie Jones
Well, did he see you.
Candace Parker
Did you. Did you see him laugh at one of your jokes? Like, the first time you tell us when you saw him laugh at one of your jokes?
Leslie Jones
My dad always laughed at me. That's why it was so funny when he said that. I was like, you always laughing at me like I'm a dumbass. Like, I would fall down the stairs on purpose just to see him laugh. You know, I would tumble down the stairs like John Ritter on three, his company. And he'd be like, you just crazy. Like, you know, So I know I had made it left. I just knew that he was scared for me. So.
I had been communicating back and forth sometimes. And then when we finally start talking again, he goes, I saw you on bet. Damn, you funny as fuck. He was like, you funny as fuck. He was like, and you a different type of funny, too. Like, you're like. It's just like, you're funny. Like, you could tell that you have the presence for it. And he was like, I'm gonna be your manager. I was like, nah, nah. Because I don't want to end up having to fire your ass because I will have to end up Leslie.
Candace Parker
Let me ask you this, because I think it, you know, we're going through the story and we're going. I mean, that's a lot. You get on stage, you prepare for a week, you know, you're in your place, you find your passion, which is, I think, what everybody's in search of, right? What do you think? How do you think basketball helped prepare you for that? Because I'm a big advocate for team sports, for learning how to, like, work through wins, losses, all of those things. Things. How did basketball help prepare you for, like, to be ready for that moment?
Leslie Jones
Baby, you. You know what? I love you, Candace. You are fucking a beast. You are just one of the best people I've ever met in my life. I will tell you straight up, that's exactly why I was so good. Because you play like you practice, right? You play like you practice. And that discipline in basketball was the discipline that I took into comedy big time. It was like, I'm not going to be able to do a joke unless I know how to write a joke. I'm not going to be able to do a joke unless I know how to end the joke. I'm not going to be able to do a joke unless I know how to hold the mic, unless I know how to Be on stage. So as much as everybody was like, oh, you're so funny. We're going to put you here. I was like, no, I don't want to be there. I want to go through what I need to go through to be funny. You know, me and Eddie talk about this sometimes, too, is that, you know, he got discovered. You know, I always say, damn, I wonder what it would have been like if Eddie would have got discovered 10 years into it, you know? So it's like, you have to do all the basic stuff first before you can.
Candace Parker
You can't skip steps. You can't.
Leslie Jones
And you can't just go through the motions. Like, you can't do that in basketball. Go through the motions. There's no such thing as that. You know, you have to play at the same intensity that you're playing with other players or be better. Like, you know what I'm saying? So with comedy, I took that same discipline. I would rehearse every day. I would rehearse for two hours. Nobody is supposed to call my house or bother me while I'm rehearsing. I was very serious about that shit. I lost friends because of that shit. You know what I'm saying? And I was out every night doing all kinds of clubs. Everything. Not just. I would do white clubs. I would do Spanish clubs. I did everything, you know, and it's important that I say this is because, you know, people think just because one person laughs at you, you're funny. Or you got a funny video on Instagram or TikTok and you're funny. Fuck. Nah. Fuck. No. Let me tell you the difference between me and you. You can make one person laugh, but I could make that person laugh and that person's mama and that person's aunt and that person's aunt's sister and that fucking person's dentist. I can make all of them laugh. There's a such thing as a living room comic and a professional comic, and we're all funny. Shit. I'd hung with you. You funny as fuck. So, like. But, like, taking it to the stage is a whole different thing.
Candace Parker
Yep.
Leslie Jones
You know, you're responsible for people's laughter.
Candace Parker
And I think you said something earlier about that passion, because there's some people in basketball that, you know, they're really good. Right. But they just don't have that passion. And they're only gonna be as good as where their passion leaves them. That, to me, is what. And you will put in the time, because I can remember and Aaliyah, the same thing. You. You Left your home to go to come to America to be so good basketball.
Aaliyah Boston
Thank you.
Candace Parker
Exactly so.
Leslie Jones
You are so fucking good, yo. It's so crazy because my coach used to say that to me. He would come, yo, Candace. I would. It would be this burst of a filling or something like. And I would play like a madman. We would go to these tournaments and I would average seriously, 17 rebounds, 6 or 7 blocks, 20 some points. I would be in crazy. And my coach would be like, why can't you do that shit all the time? Why can't you do it all the time? He was like, I can sit here and I can talk to you till I'm blue in the face, but unless you got the passion in your heart to want to do this, there's nothing I could say. And I couldn't tell him that I didn't know how to do that. I didn't know why. Sometimes I played terribly and sometimes I was fucking insane. Like, it's. Sometimes I swear it would be the weirdest times that I would turn. I remember one time we played Compton, everybody was so scared. Cause we was like, compton was a fucking good ass team and we were scared of them. And I'm telling you, in the middle of the game, Candace.
I just got mad and I was like, fuck this. And I just lost it. And they were. And we beat Compton. We beat them. And it was like, my coach was like, you gotta play like that against Lock because Doretha Cardwell and. Which I just talked to Doretha. Doretha Cardwell, that bitch. Woo, woo, woo.
She would walk on the court and everybody was just like, oh, she was crazy. And I did not play good against her. She dominated the shit out of me.
Candace Parker
But here's the thing. I think it is a little bit about the mindset. Cause you can. You can't manifest that emotion, that feeling, that passion that want to, you know, in a big game. You can't manifest that in game 33. I tell Aaliyah this all the time. Like, sometimes you got to give yourself grace, because game 33, everybody can try to be like, every game's the same amount of. No, it's not like the. The. The playoffs are more important. Let's just stop lying to ourselves. So manifesting that passion is really difficult. So. But in switching subjects, I want to get back to the start of your basketball career, because we're going to get to your, you know, your fandom and all of that. But you started playing basketball when. What was the first team that you played on did you Play youth basketball. Did you start in high school? Like, like, what was the beginning journey of basketball?
Leslie Jones
My life is. I sometimes I look back at my life and I go, fuck, bitch. You had some crazy ass stories. So I was running down the stairs. I will never forget this. Georgian Hills, Memphis, Tennessee. Running down the stairs to go to a class. Coach Simi, I will never forget this. Coach Simi was standing by the gym and I'm running down the stairs and she was like, hey, come here. So I thought I was gonna get in trouble for running. And she was like, how tall are you? And I was like, I don't know. She was like, cause I was way tall. She was like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know. She was like, have you ever played basketball? And I was like, my dad plays. And then she was like, be in the gym, 3 o'. Clock. So I was like, okay. So I came to the gym and I started playing basketball. Now what was so funny was I wasn't really interested in it. I just liked the fact that she was interested in me. And then she would just put me in the key and just tell me to put my hands up. And I didn't have to do shit. I would just stand and no one could shoot over me. So it was like I was successful. And so I went home and I told my dad, I was like, daddy, I think I'm on a basketball team. And he was like, I had never seen his face light up like that so much. So that got me really pumped. I was like, oh, shit. Daddy likes because he was an incredible player. So he was like, oh, this is great. And I really started getting into it after that.
I just remember in Memphis that we wore clothes. Converse, that was the dopest shit. So when I came to LA and went to Linwood High School, they talked so bad about me. I was so country, they used to call me Tennessee. They was like, you country.
Candace Parker
I know people out in California ain't talking about you with your Converses. They wearing them Dickies in the vans, like, come on now.
Leslie Jones
But see, at the time, Jordan had made them hot tops, so everybody was wearing those.
Candace Parker
Okay, okay, okay.
Leslie Jones
So when I got there, they was like, they was like, you country? They called me Tennessee. That was my nickname was Tennessee. And my coach used to call me Chocolate Thunder because I would just lose my shit sometimes.
Candace Parker
Okay, I have Chocolate Thunder.
Aaliyah Boston
Can you explain how did we get there? How did we get there?
Leslie Jones
Because. Okay, so when I first got there.
I went and, you know, I had to try out So I was doing more than what the people that were trying out.
Candace Parker
And Linwood was a good high school. I mean, Linwood was a good high school. Linwood was number one when I. Yeah, baby.
Leslie Jones
So I was on the JV team at first, and I would do, like, when I would do my layups, I wasn't a good left hand. So whenever I would do it left hand, I would turn. They had never seen women turn like that. And he was like, oh, shit. Like, you got. You got more skills than the J.D. but you got them country ass shoes on. They was like, yeah, we gonna put you on the varsity team. And just like my coach, Jarabas is like, you're good. You're. You could be so good. So he was always extra hard on me. He would make me wear a weight vest because I could jump out the gym, baby. I. I literally could grab the rim, and they would throw the ball to me, and I would dunk it. But I could never, like. Girl, I could never do what you did. Like, oh, no.
Candace Parker
You six foot, grabbing a.
Leslie Jones
Don't be the first person to do that.
Candace Parker
You six foot, grabbing a rim, dunking like, shoot. That's how everybody starts off. You start with a little extra. You know, you go into jump, and they throw you up. That's how you learn how to duck.
Leslie Jones
And then my dad would have me lead practice and then go to the. The community center in Linwood and play with the dudes. So I was just, you know, I was really on the path of, like, I'm going to be a basketball player, because I thought this is the. This is the thing that I could do really well. You know what?
Candace Parker
Okay. I don't want to make assumptions. I'm just assuming you were aggressive, a great rebounder. Like, I wouldn't want to block you out.
I'm assuming, but I don't want to. I don't want to make assumptions.
Leslie Jones
Let me tell y', all, but give.
Candace Parker
Me your player comp. Who are you?
Leslie Jones
The way that y' all play right now is so fucking. It's like old NBA. The way that y' all play. I was the type of person where you would put me in to intimidate. I could foul out at halftime. I was. I would go, oh, but now we.
Aaliyah Boston
Don'T have a problem with fouls.
Candace Parker
It's okay. You and Aaliyah. You and Aaliyah are.
Aaliyah Boston
Sit up on here and talk about my fouling.
Leslie Jones
Let me tell you, that's what I was. I would go to the other team.
Okay? Yo, I would perfect yo, yo, I would go to the other team and I would be like, I have five fouls and I'm gonna use all five of them. Like, I would, I would. I was known, like, right now they got that three second shit. I would get called three seconds all the time because I never left the key. That is my fucking house. You come in my house, I'mma beat that ass. So if I was blocking, I would block your whole body. Like, I would block and you would fly with that. I was not playing again.
Candace Parker
I didn't like playing players like that.
Aaliyah Boston
I mean, but she let you know ahead of time she got five and that's. She's clearing house.
Leslie Jones
Oh, this was my favorite move, grabbing the ball.
Oh, I'm breaking everybody.
Candace Parker
Are you putting the elbows up?
Aaliyah Boston
Honestly, with the elbows, you really could be my player comp. You should hear how they do me on Twitter.
Leslie Jones
Block it out.
Aaliyah Boston
You should hear how they do.
Candace Parker
But A.B. leslie would have two upgraded. Upgraded flagrant.
Aaliyah Boston
She would already be out before the first quarter's done.
Leslie Jones
Yo, let me tell you something, Candace. One time I chased the player down and she was going up for a layup and I knocked that girl so hard. That girl still hurt from that. The whole team jumped from the bench to come get me. And my team came and defend me. But after the game, they was like, that was fucked up. Why would you do that to that girl? I was like, she didn't score though. But did she score? But did she score though? I did what I did my job.
Candace Parker
Did she score though?
Aaliyah Boston
Okay, I'm scared of you. I really am scared of you.
Leslie Jones
Yeah, I was very. I was very aggressive. I was very, very insane. I was insane. I would. I would. I would tell them I would score and then I. I'd look at the girl and go, say something, bitch.
Candace Parker
But see, this is what I'm talking about is that she would not be in the game more than three minutes.
Aaliyah Boston
You wouldn't make it because that's already attacked. They're teeing you up as you're running down the court.
Leslie Jones
Technical foul, chick. They'd have been like, oh, no, you got to get the out of here. Yo, that every. Yo, my coach would have got technical. He would break a clipboard every game about me. Like, I would shoot shots that I wasn't supposed to.
Candace Parker
I need footage. This is.
Leslie Jones
I would shoot outside shots, cuz when y' all doing them shots, my coaches, that you shoot outside and you a. A six footer. What the is wrong with you? You better get your ass under the Basket. I would shoot. I would shoot shots and go, boo, y', all, and he will pull me the fuck out.
Candace Parker
But did you.
Leslie Jones
Did you make it?
Aaliyah Boston
Yeah.
Candace Parker
Did you make it?
Leslie Jones
Absolutely not.
Aaliyah Boston
You know what, though? But the vibes were good, like you were enjoying it.
Candace Parker
Okay? But here's what's crazy Aaliyah is the fact that we're talking about her as a player. She coached a peewee team. So I need to know.
Aaliyah Boston
Oh, do you yell? Because I think if I was going to coach, I would yell.
Leslie Jones
They loved me so much.
Candace Parker
But I did, because then you told.
Leslie Jones
Them to have crazy. I was crazy. I was crazy. And then I made sure that the parents knew that. If you fucking thought you was going to tell me anything about your child, I would kick you the fuck out my gym. Get out my gym. Because they used to be my guard. My guard. His father thought he was a coach, and he's going. I was like, let me explain something to you. The reason that this boy is on my team is because no one else wanted to coach him. Because you're in the fucking way, and he's a hot dog.
Candace Parker
Hey, up front. I like it if he doesn't do.
Leslie Jones
If he doesn't do, what the fuck I tell him I'm a snatch his.
Candace Parker
Ass up, and I like it.
Leslie Jones
And I would snatch him out the game and make him sit by me and watch.
Aaliyah Boston
And this was a Pee Wee team. Correct.
Candace Parker
But here's the thing. But here's the thing, Aaliyah. I'm with that for coaches, because parents get on my nerves thinking their kids are Michael Jordan. And I'm like, listen, if nobody's told you your kid is not going to go pro, like this is.
Leslie Jones
And just the discipline of it.
Candace Parker
Exactly. I think kids want to be disciplined. Like, they want to have structure. They want. Cause that's love. It takes time.
Leslie Jones
That shows love. That shows you care about me. You do affect kids. My coach. My coach Jerrod is still one of the voices in my head that would be like, chocolate. He would always call me Chocolate. Chocolate, what are you doing.
Girl? You know, I used to get introduced to the game. Like, I would have my weight vest on, and I would do it on purpose. I just looked crazy. And then they would come and unhook the weight vest and take it off of me. And then I would jump in the air real high. And then when they introduced me, they would flick the lights and say, chocolate Thunder.
Candace Parker
Something is. Yo, I. We are about to pull up these. Like, I'm.
Aaliyah Boston
No, we need to see this, though, we gotta see that.
Candace Parker
We are gonna pull up.
Leslie Jones
This is in the 80s, so, you.
Candace Parker
Know, I wish the film we do have, though, is of your fandom. So, like, we do have. No, I'm saying, like, you're LA Sparks fan. Like, you. You were coming to the games. I remember seeing you. Obviously, now you're courtside. We see each other when I. When I pull up to the Sparks games. But you are literally the courtside queen. Like, Spike Lee is you. I'm not even gonna say you, Spike Lee. I'm saying he trying to be you. That's what you are on the sideline of la.
Leslie Jones
How ashamed that I am that I didn't get to see y' all play. I. I just had. When I stopped playing basketball, I was done with it, period. I was like, I don't wanna watch women. I don't wanna do that. When y' all started doing the league, I was like, oh, I don't wanna see it. I'm so pissed that I didn't get to see Lisa Leslie and. And you play the. I'm. Every time I met, I was like, God damn it. I bet you this was so dope, cuz. It's so dope now.
Candace Parker
We had a good time. We had a. We had a good time. But. But just to be at that game.
Leslie Jones
When you dunked, I would have ran on the court. They would have had to kick me out. I'd have ran on the court.
Candace Parker
Where did that start, though? When did you start going to LA Sparks games? Like, what was somebody.
Leslie Jones
I went to a college game, and I was like, God damn, these girls was playing and somebody was like, yo, have you ever went and watched the Sparks? And I was like, nah. And they invited me, and I was like, this is my new shit. I was like. And I'm so impressed. I was so impressed with the moves. Like, watching y' all play, it's insane. It's like, oh, my gosh, she's doing. Oh, my God. Like, the control you have, like, you're like, it doesn't. I used to think that it was going to look like we. Our bra. You know, our bras, titties. And, you know, I didn't think it was going to look so good, but, you know, because in high school, you.
Aaliyah Boston
Know, we didn't have the support. The support, yeah.
Leslie Jones
But here y' all were playing like dudes, and I was like, this is insane. So, yeah, I'm so addicted to it now.
Aaliyah Boston
So when you're sitting courtside, do you yell at the refs? Because, you know, you yelled.
Candace Parker
Are you really asking that, Aaliyah? You asking that? I just want to make sure you don't yell.
Aaliyah Boston
I just wanna.
Leslie Jones
You don't see it. When I walk into security, always give me the card immediately when I get there, because I'm not only. And they come up to me and they'd be like. Like this. The Knicks gang.
Candace Parker
And she's referring to the card of conduct so that they know, like, Let.
Leslie Jones
Me explain something to you. Let me explain something to you. You call a bad call, I'mma fucking say that to you. Refresh. You know good and goddamn, I do stuff like this. I'd be like, ref, I want to learn how to referee. So can you tell me why you. Why you called that?
Aaliyah Boston
That's something I would say, too.
Leslie Jones
Why you call that. Why you call that, ref?
Aaliyah Boston
It's a valid question, because why would you call it?
Leslie Jones
Be like, oh, your ponytail. Like, especially the women, ref. I'd be like, your ponytail is off the fucking chain, bitch.
Candace Parker
Listen, Leslie, I got a. I got a skit slash something for you. You should be a ref one time. Because here's what I always say. And I only gained this perspective after I was done playing, because I sure got technicals and I sure yelled at refs. I could not be a ref. It doesn't matter. If you get a call right, half of the people are gonna think it's wrong. If you get a call wrong, half of the people are gonna think it's right. You could just be living life, enjoying your water in the third quarter, and somebody gonna scream at you for something you did three years ago that you don't.
Leslie Jones
And I would love it.
Aaliyah Boston
I just know you would respond. Kick him out.
Leslie Jones
You would be like, every time I do a pause, I'll be like, he traveling, he traveling. He traveling. I carry. You carry. You carry.
Candace Parker
But real talk, though, like, this has become a community thing in terms of, you know, you're being a part of the LA Sparks community and being at the games and things like that. You were at the draft party, 2024, for the lottery. Here you are. Look at that. That's crazy.
Leslie Jones
Yeah. Yeah, I was so. I wanted them to get.
Carmelo Carmilla.
Aaliyah Boston
Oh, Camila Cardoso.
Leslie Jones
I wanted her so bad, but when they got the other two, I was like, I'm good with those. I'm good with those girls. I'm good with those.
Candace Parker
Yep.
Leslie Jones
Yeah. I still want. I still think she needs to come to la. There's a couple of players I would love to have Come. Like I was talking to Paige Decker last night. I was like, yeah, you don't want to come to la. Yeah.
Candace Parker
Because you were at the New York. Yeah, she was at the. At the New York Knicks game for sure.
Leslie Jones
Her and Angel Reese.
Candace Parker
Yep, her and angel for sure. So, like, you're always showing love. You're hyping up ucla. Like is la. So obviously LA is your team. Right. But if Tennessee were to get a team, would you feel some sort of allegiance to a Tennessee team? Or are you usually straight LA now? Like, you not converse. You're not converse in Tennessee now. You just straight up dickies.
Leslie Jones
And yeah, I know that's kind of sad too. Cause I did used to like Memphis State team, the boys team, but when Keith Lee was on, this was a long time ago, but after that, nah. And matter of fact, I love ucla, but I love USC too. Yeah.
Candace Parker
You on that juju train.
Leslie Jones
Yeah, I'm trying to get juju to come to the Spark.
Candace Parker
I'm like, I'm sure juju is trying to get to the Sparks too, being from here. That. That's insane.
Leslie Jones
That would be in freaking saying. Because that's what we need. We need a. I love Kelsey right now, but I think Kelsey is not. I think she's more of an off guard than a. A. Because when you're off guard, you can run and do the things you need to. When you're a point guard, to me, you have to be responsible for the court, so you have to watch the time. You have to watch the passes. And I think that they're taking her out of her element and not letting her do the things that she can do. When you're stuck at that. That top guard, when you can't, she's the only one that can bring the ball up. No, you need to get two girls in there. That's a top. And let her free flow through the. Through the. I mean, that's what I think.
Candace Parker
Listen, that was great analysis. We gonna have to have you on Amazon breaking down the games, but. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So your thoughts on the WNBA growth, where it's at today? Obviously you told us about the physicality and the style of play, but, you know, just seeing where women's sports is in general, not just women's basketball, but, you know, you were a big part of the Olympics and that and you saw how women represented in the Olympics and what they're gonna do here in LA in 2028. Aaliyah is going to be a part of that for sure. I'm putting it in the air. She gonna be an Olympian. But yeah, like, where do you think? Like the 80s, baby, right? That's growing up with sports where it was like, okay, women play, but, like, you don't really see it that much or whatever. Till now, where it's like, fathers are saying, no, my daughter's going to play basketball when she grows up.
Leslie Jones
And I. I'm. I'm. It's amazing to me how that has came, you know, and the fact that the pay doesn't follow it. It's amazing to me that the women have to leave the fucking country to go make the money, but can't make the money in the state that they're. It doesn't make sense that. That Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese and can y' all can fill this place up and y' all not get. I. I think the pay is disgusting. I think it's disgusting, especially for what they're asking y' all to do to be this big league. I understand that we do have to fill the rafters for y' all to get paid, but I don't think the same money is used to advertise it. I think people don't know how good the game is. I've brought so many people to the games, and they'd be like, what the. This is insane. This is the best thing. Yes. We need to advertise it more. We need to put it like the feud. For me, the feud between Angel Reese and Kayla Clark was definitely fabricated to me. It was just put on a level that it's just, oh, bitches fighting. That's. That's what it came off as. Like, oh, these bitches is fighting. Instead of looking at how good these people are playing their ass off like you guys play your ass off and you should get paid for that. Should be compensated for that. And I'm just tired of just because we're women that we don't get. It doesn't make sense to me.
Candace Parker
That's the age old. Yeah, that's the age old, but it's society, because that's where it is too. Because comics. I'm sure it's the same thing. I'm sure it's the same thing in the world.
Leslie Jones
Well, when I was in college, I just remember thinking, why do the guys get a bus and all of that? They get everything. We didn't get shit. And we were winning more than the men.
Like the soccer. Like our women's soccer team. Fucking insane. I went to Olympics. The men's soccer team couldn't get a goddamn goal if they gave it to them and the women was out there destroyed like straight gangsters, the fucking hockey team. It's like, am I, am I crazy? Maybe y', all, maybe the women's hockey team needs to play the men's hockey team and show em exactly how good they are.
Candace Parker
I mean that's the way society is right now, I think in terms of.
Leslie Jones
But it should be, don't you think?
Candace Parker
You're exactly right.
But I do believe that the more we look into it, the more we're gonna see it as comics with women. What you're given, what you have to earn, pay, all of that stuff. The same thing with like, I mean business. You talk about, what is it, 73 cents to the dollar or something crazy, doing the same job. So I think, you know, women's sports puts on a platform of like, what's wrong with society? I think it's getting better and it's improving. But at the same time, your point of bringing people to WNBA games, that. That cannot be stressed enough to me because there are so many people that when I was playing they had no idea that it was not corporate, that is family oriented, that it is fun that we had D.J. molesky getting everybody hyped. Like all of that. They would come to a game and then they would always come back, but it's just getting them to a game. And so now with it being this platform, especially where the WNBA is. You're right. Advertising, all that stuff has to be talked about with the money that you're spending.
Leslie Jones
Exactly. Especially now if you're like, you say you're gonna make it. So like. Cause it's definitely more popular now than wnba. And now you do have little girls that are going, hey, I'm gonna be going to the league. And that can only get better, you know, as the crowds get better. You know, I think, I think the crowds are definitely gonna get better. I love NBA, but I just feel like NBA is kind of boring now. They're very running gun, you know, shooting three. I mean guys, somebody explained it to me, they was like, well, you know, they changed that so people can have more talent. Like you have to show more talent. That's like, don't take the fucking key, you know, the key from the big players. Don't, don't make the big players have to shoot three pointers. I don't understand that. That, that drives me crazy whenever I see a seven footer shooting a three pointer. Hey, listen, great, but motherfucker, I'd rather for you to dunk it two Points count as much as three points.
Aaliyah Boston
You are.
Leslie Jones
You know what I'm saying? Like, I. Whenever I shoot a three pointer, I want to snatch him out the game like my coach would have. What the is you doing when you could have dunked it? Like, when. Whenever. Under the basket. And they pass it back out. I want to kill them. My coach.
Candace Parker
Aaliyah, you play.
Leslie Jones
Go back up.
Candace Parker
You teach. What is it. What is it that you. You teach the way you learn, and you learn the way you teach. That. That's. That's. Listen. That's chocolate thunder right here, right? Our coach was like, stand in the key.
Aaliyah Boston
Stand in the key. Keep your hands up. Use all five houses.
Candace Parker
If you take a shot. If you take a shot, you coming out.
Leslie Jones
Outside of painting, there was no driving on me. There was no. Like, you could not get the. You'll see me scream, cut off the baseline. You gonna have to come in here to me, son. Come through this way. Cause the only way you gonna get this shot is a bank shot, because you're not gonna do a layup. Cause I'm gonna break your goddamn collarbone. I'm telling you.
Aaliyah Boston
I can't even Listen, wait. Can I ask a question? Can you write me some stuff, Some funny stuff to say next season? Because, like, I just need some, like, slick. Just slick comments every once in a while. Everyone kind of already be beefing me for no reason. So I think, though, we can make it fun.
Candace Parker
Match made in heaven, right?
Aaliyah Boston
We can make it fun. Like, a little, like, you know what I'm saying?
Leslie Jones
Let me. Let me give you one. Jump stupid. I used to tell people, jump stupid. Jump stupid. If you want to fuck with me, jump stupid.
I like it.
Candace Parker
And, hey, Leslie, you gonna pay? Aaliyah's fine next year?
Aaliyah Boston
It's fine.
Leslie Jones
Absolutely.
Candace Parker
Okay.
Aaliyah Boston
Don't even worry, because when my mom watches Episode and she's laughing, she's gonna understand. Like, she's gonna get it. Like, don't even worry. I won't even.
Leslie Jones
Matter of fact, when you see me on the side, come over, and I'll be tell you what to say.
Candace Parker
She gonna whisper something in your ear for you to say, and you go come out talking about jump stupid. Listen, we have to talk about your Olympic commentary. Like, we have to talk about it because NBC gave you the title chief super fan commentator. Your reactions to events literally had me in tears.
Aaliyah Boston
Hilarious.
Candace Parker
What was your favorite event? And, of course, we're gonna have you commentate a clip after you.
Leslie Jones
Okay.
Candace Parker
What's your favorite event?
Leslie Jones
Let me say something about that, too. When that shift. When I first started doing that, that was the Rio Olympics. Nobody was watching the Olympics at that time. It was kind of the. It was declining. And I couldn't understand it because I've always loved the Olympics. And I was watching it one day, and this. The first clip that I did. I remember the first clip I did was. It was the bike one, and the guy was chasing a bike. And I was like, why you did this? Guy chasing a bike? And people reacted to it and I was like, oh, this is the way to get them interested in the Olympics again. That's really why I started doing that. I want people to support the fucking athletes. These athletes are fucking at their best peak, and they're going to compete in the Games for their play. Like, this shit is monumental. This is the one time everybody is. We forget all the fucking beef we got and we come together and we challenge our best athletes. That's fucking Olympia, like, gladiator shit. How dare we not be excited about that shit? So that's where I started. Now, this is what pisses me off about when I do something, I do make it really well because I'm good at what I do, and people think that they can do what I do. So once they start to see me doing that, of course they're going to call other people in. They're not going to do what I do. You had to get two. No, three black men to replace me.
So. So it's like. It's really insulting because it's like, it's. It's like, they're not gonna do what I do because I love these people. They're doing it for the money. I was doing it when I was not getting paid. I was not getting paid. And I was. I had two TVs. I had a laptop. I had two. I was watching every event and doing it. I fucked my wrists up from tech, from tweeting so much. And it pisses me off that all that hard work I did was just not appreciated in the same way. It was just like, okay, so men can do it better. No, they can't. No, they can't. You know? But.
Yeah, I really enjoy doing it. I really enjoy doing it, but I don't like to get taken advantage of either. And I just don't know how to fix that, because I still love the Olympics. You have the passion for it, like you said. And just like you said, people are looking forward to me doing that.
Candace Parker
Well, I don't want to take advantage of you in the clips that we're Asking. I'm like, how do I transition this? I don't want to take advantage of.
Leslie Jones
You can take advantage of it.
Candace Parker
Okay, because we gonna play two clips. We go take.
Leslie Jones
I didn't get an Emmy, though, so.
Candace Parker
I mean, you got an Emmy. That's what I'm saying.
Leslie Jones
Like, because I got an Emmy. Just because it was participation. Like, it wasn't.
Candace Parker
No, you got an Emmy, but whatever.
Leslie Jones
I still love it.
Candace Parker
Second of all, you got. You about to get an Emmy with this. Because we gonna play a clip. Each of us playing basketball.
Leslie Jones
Who is this? Candace.
Candace Parker
Here we go, Tennessee. Right here. Here we go.
Leslie Jones
That's you right there, right?
Candace Parker
Bam.
Leslie Jones
Look at that, bitch. You goddamn.
I would have just tackled you. Oh, no, bitch. Oh. I would have chased you down. This girl shouldn't do her job.
Candace Parker
Like, pretend you the defender.
Leslie Jones
I swear to God, you would have went up, and I would have been like, yes, you ain't gonna play next game, bitch.
God damn. I'd have been in your ear like, you think you. You think you the. With your little. Your little headband.
Candace Parker
Not the little headband, though.
Leslie Jones
You just gonna come in here and keep dunking on me? I will fight you and your family.
Candace Parker
Not the little headband fighting.
Aaliyah Boston
The whole family is crazy.
Leslie Jones
You bring your ass into my key again, you wouldn't have been made. I'm. None of that. You and none of that. I'm fucking. I'm literally going to get thrown out the game because as soon as you come, I'm like, dudes, I'mma charge your ass like a billy goat.
Candace Parker
Like a billy goat, though.
Leslie Jones
I'm gonna be like.
Candace Parker
Billy goat.
Leslie Jones
And they're gonna be like, oh, my God. Why would she do that? Candace Rocker.
Candace Parker
This is what she's saying. She's saying she more like Detroit Pistons bad boys, Bill Lambert. Like, she Bill Laimbeer, Rick Mahorn.
Leslie Jones
Okay, Dennis Rodman dived into your chest. You ain't gonna dunk again. Matter of fact, I would have been on to the side. Like, I'd have been whispering to you. Yeah, you better wait till I get into the game. You ain't gonna be able to do none of that. You'd have been looking at me like, yeah, come on. Okay, all right.
Candace Parker
No, I'd have been like, I'm gonna lay it up.
Aaliyah Boston
Honestly, I wouldn't even go back.
Leslie Jones
Oh.
Candace Parker
Oh, no. Come on.
Leslie Jones
You wouldn't lay up on me.
Candace Parker
Yeah, see, we. It just didn't.
Leslie Jones
You will be shooting all jump shots because we got one more clip. Come on.
Candace Parker
We got one more clip. We got one more clip. Hold on. We gotta play Aaliyah.
Aaliyah Boston
Oh, I just knew it was gonna be this. This is the. I do. It's gonna be this clip.
Leslie Jones
Yeah. I'm scared of you.
Candace Parker
Oh. Oh, Ducking.
Aaliyah Boston
Oh, I knew it was gonna be that clip.
Leslie Jones
Oh, wait a minute. Can we rewind? Let me see that one more time. Oh, she is right here. Right here.
Aaliyah Boston
Because like, what?
Leslie Jones
Yeah, Flipper.
I'd have been like, flip over your back, Lil. Flip over your back, Lil. That's right, bitch. That's right, bitch. You in the cake. Oh, no. That was beautiful. I literally. I love you.
Aaliyah Boston
Dang. Am I your player cop for real?
Leslie Jones
Yeah, you. You are. You are me. You are me.
Aaliyah Boston
I was talking to you. Knew I had to take the mouth guard once I take the mouth guard. That's right.
Leslie Jones
Look, look, look, look, look. Bitch, get your mother.
Get your ass off my back. I would have said that. I would have been like Bruce. It have been some Bruce Lee. I know. That's right, Leah. That's right.
Candace Parker
So 45 games, 45 game season. Let's just say we have a 45 game season. How many games are you fouling out of?
Aaliyah Boston
45 games.
Candace Parker
45 games. Yes.
Leslie Jones
37.
Candace Parker
37 of them.
Leslie Jones
Okay, okay, listen.
Candace Parker
I could do this all day, but we have to wrap. We're gonna end with some fan questions, and then we gonna wrap.
Leslie Jones
You are now my favorite player bitch.
That was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen about.
Candace Parker
Oh, see, Aaliyah, I told you. Your player cop right here.
Leslie Jones
I am so motivated by you right now. I need you to start flipping them over your back, though. I need you to.
Aaliyah Boston
I literally can't. I can't. They'll kick me out. They'll kick.
Candace Parker
What did she say? Jump stupid. Jump stupid.
Leslie Jones
That's what you should have said to her, too, when you said jump stupid, though. But jump stupid, though.
Aaliyah Boston
I.
Leslie Jones
Okay, girl. Ooh. I'mma show you. I'mma show you. Whenever you get a rebound, just grab it. Bam. Bam. That's a new one. And then step on their foot when they try to get up for a rebound. Like, if they try to jump, step on their foot. Oh, how many people. I done fucked up. Ok.
Candace Parker
Fan questions. Aurensory said, if you could play any WNBA legend in a movie, who would it be?
Leslie Jones
Lisa Leslie.
Candace Parker
I like that. I like that a lot. Lisa Leslie mixed with a little Dennis Rodman. She had a little nasty Lisa. Tried to act like she wasn't nasty. Lisa was.
Leslie Jones
Oh, no, no, no. I told Lisa Leslie I was like, me and you play right now? And I was like, who would win? She was like, who you think would win? I said, well, I'mma foul you. She said, I'm a foul your ass back.
Aaliyah Boston
Whoa.
Leslie Jones
And I was like.
Okay. Okay. Well, that was intimidating and very unladylike, but okay.
Aaliyah Boston
Next question from Lacey Roman. 3, 2, 3. Build your dream WNBA starting five. And you have to put yourself in it.
Leslie Jones
My wa. Starting five.
Aaliyah Boston
Wnba. Yep, starting five. But you have to be in it.
Leslie Jones
And it matter if the players are retired or not.
Aaliyah Boston
Anyone.
Leslie Jones
Okay, so. But I'm one. So I got four players. Yep. Okay, well, you and Candace. Okay. Lisa, Leslie and Diane from the. Diane, Diana.
Candace Parker
Diana Taurasi. Okay, so we got our five. I have a feeling that we gonna lead the league in technicals in fouls and flagrant fouls.
Leslie Jones
Yeah. But we're gonna have the most block shots and the most rebounds.
Aaliyah Boston
Okay.
Candace Parker
Yep. Okay, so we're going back to, like, the basketball purists. All right, listen.
Leslie Jones
Oh, wait a minute. And then Don Staley, she's on the bench.
Aaliyah Boston
She's okay. We could take, we could take her on the bench.
Candace Parker
Well, Don a little nasty.
Leslie Jones
She comes off the bench.
Candace Parker
Yeah, yeah, Don a little nasty, too. So she fit right in. I need y' all to protect me because I, I, I don't do that. Like, I, I think I, I like.
Leslie Jones
Being protected some more because I'm like, I can't never say her name right. Nkembe, she used to work for, she used to play for the Sparks, her and her sister Janae.
Aaliyah Boston
Oh, Neca.
Candace Parker
Oh, Neca.
Leslie Jones
Yeah, yeah, Neca. They would definitely be coming off the bench. Oh, that's a bit. Oh, God damn it.
Candace Parker
Listen, Leslie, we could do this all day if we really appreciate you joining Post moves. You are a true post up. You are a post up. Post.
Post. Shimmy all that. And listen, post ups, if you haven't already, go check out her special. Leslie Jones Life Part 2, streaming now on Peacock.
Aaliyah Boston
Yes, thank you for joining us, you guys.
Candace Parker
So much.
Leslie Jones
Freaking insanely awesome.
Aaliyah Boston
No, thank you. You are awesome.
Leslie Jones
Now, I can't wait to see you at a game so I can talk to you.
Candace Parker
Yo, circle that game. I will be there.
Aaliyah Boston
Jump stupid.
Candace Parker
That's what we going to do.
Aaliyah Boston
Jump stupid.
Candace Parker
We gonna do a live stream. Here's what we gonna do, Leslie. Here's what we gonna do. We gonna do like a two minute special or two minute segment during the WBA season, and you gonna come up with trash talking. We gonna teach people. We gonna have people say what you come up with, but you gotta come up with scenarios. So, like, go to the paint, get to the free throw line, and you're standing at the free throw line, and they have to make the free throw, but you gotta make them miss it, and then you gotta stop.
Leslie Jones
You know what else I want us to do during one of her games? Me and you on the side. Oh, yes.
Candace Parker
Yes. Yep.
Leslie Jones
Aliyah, have them wake us up. Have the mic us up.
Candace Parker
Aaliyah would be. She'd be mad because I'd be so irritated.
Aaliyah Boston
I'll be so.
Candace Parker
You'll be hyping her up to body slam people.
Leslie Jones
Oh, my God. I'm so gonna be doing that from now on.
Candace Parker
Let's do it.
As soon as the schedule comes out. We dare. As soon as the schedule.
Aaliyah Boston
Thank you so much.
Candace Parker
Amazing, Leslie.
Leslie Jones
You guys are freaking awesome. This was so fun.
Aaliyah Boston
We enjoyed it.
Candace Parker

That's good. 34 points, right? 31 rebounds.
Aaliyah Boston
I can't lie. That's insane.
Candace Parker
31 rebounds, 31 of them boards in a 81, 52 victory over Texas Southern. She was. I would call this pretty efficient. 17 of 22 from the field, she shot 77%.
Aaliyah Boston
That's good math.
Candace Parker
Tennessee math. Yeah, that's good. Math is correct. She also had four steals and a block. We are not going to downplay that. But 31 rebounds?
Aaliyah Boston
Yeah. That's crazy. Honestly. We'd have to put four on here. I don't care. Somebody else gonna have to get it.
Candace Parker
31 rebounds. It's crazy. And she, you know, Texas Southern. Texas Southern entered the game as the number 11 rebounding team in the country. Well, that.
Aaliyah Boston
That ended, huh?
Candace Parker
That definitely ended. They only had 25 rebounds the entire game after averaging 47 rebounds. Because she had 31 rebounds. That's why they didn't get any. And the crazy part is she did not play basketball until college.
Aaliyah Boston
That's wild.
Candace Parker
Do you know where she grew up? No.
Aaliyah Boston
Please tell me.
Candace Parker
Saint Lucia.
Aaliyah Boston
Oh, island.
Leslie Jones
Yeah.
Candace Parker
And she grew up playing netball.
Leslie Jones
Wow.
Candace Parker
And she only started basketball a few years ago.
Aaliyah Boston
That's crazy. That's insane.
Candace Parker
I'm gonna have to pull up to the islands because that's insane.
Aaliyah Boston
I'm telling you, the islanders got it. The islanders. That's where it's at.
Candace Parker
Hey, college basketball. If you looking for some players to fill your rosters, you might want to go to the Island. Go to the island. How do you say it? How do you say it? Say it.
Aaliyah Boston
Island gal.
Candace Parker
Okay, there we go. There we go. What she said. But congratulations, Honestly, Megan, outstanding. Amazing game. It was amazing to see you all over social media, all over Sports Center.
