Welcome to the Power Hour, Optometry's biggest and longest running show. This is Eugene Shotsman, I'm your host and I am very, very excited to share something new with you today. But this is instead of a regular episode, so today is not going to be a normal episode. There is no guest this week, there's no deep dive. We're doing something completely different. And honestly, I am pretty excited about it and my goal is to give you something else that gives you high return on investment for your time. And you probably know that at the end of every single introduction that I do at the Power Hour, I always say, hey, if you've got any questions, ideas, thoughts, feedback, whatever, just email me, reach out. And so, as we sift through that feedback, my team and I, one of the things that we find very consistently is that the shows that do the best and the feedback that we get is consistently is that people really appreciate when they can get a few things from a show where they it's not just infotainment, it's not just information, but it's really something out actionable. And so again, my goal today instead of an episode is a different kind of actionable business growth gift for you. And hopefully it's a high return on investment per hour as long as you take the time to do something with it. And, and I'm really looking forward to your feedback. So what's it about? Well, I care, boss, because if you've been listening to the show, you've heard me mention this. For the past few years, Jamie Rosen and I have been building a system for growing eye care practice is we've been testing that system, we've been refining it, we're watching what actually works in practice, not just in theory. And you heard us talk about the fact that we've taught classes with the system. We introduced it formally to the industry at Vision Expo 2026. We've taught some CE on this, on this topic. And now as of June 2026, there is a book and the book is called I Care Boss, the Business Optimization Scalability System. And it's now live on Amazon. And again for listeners of the show, today only for 48 hours, you're going to be able to get the Kindle version of that book free. Now, the thing about the system is not, I'm not so excited about the book. I'm much more excited about what the book could do for you and the impact that it could have. Because even at this point, we've watched practices implement some of the concepts in the system the same things you're going to find in the pages of the book. And they've done a lot of remarkable things. One practice I know has cut their exam only by double digits in a matter of three or four months. There was a practice that was able to get a lot of staff issues under control. And we hear this all the time, less turnover, less drama, less inconsistency. Practices have improved the patient experience because they start turning it into a system system rather than just depending on a few really nice friendly people. And practices are also using some of the concepts in there to drive more referrals or to fill their schedules that used to have holes in them. So this is the biggest one, though, is if you think about what I care, boss, business optimization scalability system is designed to do optimization, and scalability being the operative words. What that means is that you can build a business that can improve and grow without being chained to the talent or the time of a few key people. And a practice that doesn't wobble when a couple people, you know, maybe you or the office manager takes a vacation. That's the whole game. That's a practice that can scale. That's a practice that can optimize. So how does the book or how does the system actually help you get there? There are five things that every practice needs to get unstuck. We spent a lot of time collecting the shortcuts from some of the most successful practices in the country and been watching clients that have done really, really well, and Jamie and his own practice. And we've been collecting all of this information so we can give you those five, those shortcuts in a matter of five systems. Accountability, revenue, people, experience, and data. So accountability is really about the who owns what, getting stuff done. When a practice commits, it actually gets stuff done. And, and there's a lot of structure to that. Revenue is about getting more patients, getting those patients to come back more often, and then getting those patients to spend more with every single transaction to get the care that they need without leaving money on the table for you every single visit. And then the people section. You know, when I speak, I hear that this is one of the biggest issues that people have in their practice. But hiring, training, developing leaders, understanding how to get people in the right seats, doing systematic analysis of who of who in the practice actually belongs and fits and who is worth developing and who needs to find excellence elsewhere. The experience side of the equation, that's the biggest differentiator for independent optometry. If you think about building a really great patient experience. Again, oftentimes it's just done on the backs of a couple really friendly, really great people in the practice. But it's not not systematic, but how you can make it systematic. And of course with data, the last system, knowing your numbers and making decisions on facts, not gut feel, and then knowing how to use those numbers so that your team can make decisions on facts and that your team can use the numbers and you don't have to be the chief analyst for the whole practice. And whenever you're not looking at the numbers, no one is right. So these five things working together, if you can get them working together, the practices stops depending on key people for everything. It starts working systematically, it starts growing systematically. And that is what we wish for you. These are not just ideas. Every concept in the book also comes with a bunch of tools. These are checklists, frameworks, worksheets, actual stuff that's been used in real practices that you can implement. And here's the part that I want to make crystal clear. Anyone who gets the book can get these tools for free. It's not a separate purchase. Anyone who gets a copy, whether you grab it for free this week or you buy a copy later, every single person gets them for free@icareboss.com because ideas are just ideas if you don't have the tools or the, or the support to implement them. And this is our first step towards helping you get there. Now, here's the thank you part for all of you listeners. I am super grateful for you and I really, really mean this. There's so much feedback. There's, there's so much learning that happens and me getting, being able to do this, to host a show for you has meant the world to me. And thank you to all of you for showing up every single week and for trusting me with an hour of your time. So in it to thank our listeners, we have partnered with Amazon and we're going to give you something back. For the next 48 hours, the Kindle version of the I Care Boss Live or the I Care Boss book is free. Completely free. If you're on our email list, you're going to be hearing about it, you're going to get it, be getting a link. If you're listening to the show, just click on the link that's in the show notes. But it is completely free and you can grab it right now at no cost. Two days only after that. The Kindle version is $39.99. The paperback is 49.99. If you read it and it's worth it to you. And if you want a physical copy on your desk or you want to hand it to a colleague or partner who needs it, please buy the book. I'm not telling you not to buy the book. I just want to thank you all for all of your ideas, for all of your support, and hopefully be able to make some impact for and to jumpstart some of this by making it available again for two days only for free for all of you. And the support means a lot to us. We really don't take it for granted. And honestly, not really in this for the book sales. I'm in it for whatever you do with it, for the impact that it makes on your practice. Because the thing I would be most grateful for is if you took the book, if you bought the book, if you downloaded the book, if you got it for free, and then you use some of the tools that you got for free. And it's when you reach out to me and you say, eugene, we did some of the stuff in the book and it really helped us with our practice or it really transformed us. That's what we're after. And that's the goal here, is to make the most amount of impact. That's why we partnered with Amazon to make this available for you for 48 hours. So again, grab the Kindle version while it's free. If you're listening to this afterwards, please, please grab the version you prefer to read anyway, do something with it, use the tools and then do the work and then let us know how it goes. Jamie and I are so proud of this one. We're proud to introduce it to you, we're even prouder to share it with you and we're so excited to hear what you do with it. So thank you for being here. Go grab your copy and looking forward to your feedback.
