Tonight was that reminder of how great wrestling can be.

I thought entering the day, your voice was making a recovery. You had a rough week and now we're back to square one again because R. Truth is back.

[Sam Roberts]

No, it didn't help that. What was I saying? I mean, shouting Cena sucks. And singing every word to the Cody song probably didn't help it either. But you know what? You know what?

[Megan Morant]

It was worth it. It was worth it 100%.

[Sam Roberts]

I'm never gonna go back and go, oh, I wish I only. I wish I had my voice a little stronger.

It was a tough week for all of us wrestling fans. Everybody was upset about our Truth.

[Sam Roberts]

Listen, of all ironies after what John Cena said on Smackdown, it was ultimately John Cena who could not handle the Truth. How do we like it now? R. Truth makes an appearance in the main event of Money in the bank. This tag match with John Cena and Logan Paul versus Cody Rhodes and Jey uso. And you are right, let's not pretend we didn't hear the chants echoing through all Week. Let's not pretend we didn't see the app mentions across every form of social media. The news had broken on the Internet that R. Truth was no longer gonna be employed by wwe and the fans made their voice heard. I don't know. I can't wait to find out. What is the story behind all this? Was this a plot from the beginning? Was this something that changed all of a sudden? I will tell you that I can act surprised, but it's very hard to actually surprise me. And I was actually surprised.

[Megan Morant]

And you and I were talking today, bro.

[Sam Roberts]

I texted R. Truth when he was tweeting over the weekend.

[Megan Morant]

I texted him, listen, I did too. And I didn't get a response, so.

[Sam Roberts]

Well, that makes me feel even better about getting a response. Listen now, knowing that I won't mention that I did get a response. But that's my point. I got a response.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah.

[Sam Roberts]

And it was like. And now here he is. Look, I mean, this is all so intriguing, but so great. It's like as a wrestling fan, you go, this is what I want. This is what I want. This is what I want. And after not getting what we want, after seeing Seth Rollins become a villain and beat both CM Punk and Roman Reigns, and have Paul Heyman leave the bloodline after seeing Cody Rhodes lose the title due to interference by, of all people, Travis Scott. And John Cena wins the title and goes on his ruined wrestling tour that he's been on. Sometimes you just need to get what you want. And we said what we wanted and tonight we got it. It looked like it was curtains. Logan Paul, say what you want about him, had this unbelievable moonsault from the outside of the ring all the way to that table. That table blew into a million pieces.

[Megan Morant]

In a way that we've never seen that table break.

[Sam Roberts]

That's right. Jey USO is dunsky. The referee is checking on him. Once again, that dirty, dirty John Cena takes the WWE Championship and makes Cody Rhodes taste it.

[Megan Morant]

And we look at each other and go, no, not again. Not again.

[Sam Roberts]

I can't take it.

[Megan Morant]

And then this hooded figure comes out. I mean, and I said to you, CM Punk.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes, you did. And I said, I said, that doesn't make any sense, Megan.

[Megan Morant]

Who else could it be?

[Sam Roberts]

I don't know. I don't know. The hooded figure comes out, takes out John Cena, and the eruption that rang through the Intuit Dome when that hoodie comes off. And R. Truth is under the mask now, let me tell you, under the hood, and there was a mask and everything I mean, this was. This. I mean, it was. It was. They say that you. We don't get surprised in wrestling anymore, but sometimes we do. And this, we needed this one.

[Megan Morant]

Nobody saw this coming.

[Sam Roberts]

We got. Nobody saw it coming. We got this one. The good guys win. And it was such a phenomenal thing to see. Tweet went out on WWE's Twitter account. It's time to speculate wildly because the tweet said, I wanna quote it properly, I'm going to WWE's account. This is coming from WWE shop. It said, ron Killings is here. And earlier in the week, the R.

[Sam Roberts]

Truth merch was Ron Killings. Who's to say. Who's to say what it all means? But the point is that our truth comes in and makes the save. And, you know, we were talking about this on the Countdown show. I talked to you about this match being so important and the tension that surrounded this match because it really did feel like there were two directions for the WWE that we know and love to go in. And one of those directions is to center around the Superstars that we've watched build over 10, 15, sometimes even more years to finally ascend to this place where they are Cody Rhodes, where they are Jey uso, where everything they have is utterly earned. And we who have been watching WWE forever went on this journey and we see these guys and what makes them the good guys and is that we have watched them work hard and do the right thing and prove people wrong. And sometimes in this world, you need. Wrestling has to be an escape. You need to know that in some universe, if you just work hard and do the right thing for long enough, the good guys win. You can win. And that's what Cody Rhodes, that's what Jey uso is. On the other end, you have John Cena, who to some extent is that however he decides no, the future is in the hands of this guy who's got eyeballs and is very athletic. And people go, well, he's so athletic, he's so good. But to bring those eyeballs in. And I'm not saying there's no value to it, and I'm not saying he's not good, by the way, but we haven't been on that journey with him and he hasn't been on that journey with us. It doesn't mean he doesn't belong here, but it does mean that we as fans feel like people like that can't take away the People like Cody Rhodes and Jey USO who put all of this sweat equity in. And you know who's another person who's in that Cody Rhodes, Jey USO category?

[Megan Morant]

Who's that?

[Sam Roberts]

R. Truth.

[Megan Morant]

That's correct.

[Sam Roberts]

And we see tonight that ultimately the WWE Superstars, the wrestlers were triumphant. They won. And it just felt. Megan, it felt so fulfilling.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah. And I like what you say about someone like Logan Paul. There's certainly a place for Logan Paul in wwe.

[Sam Roberts]

And WWE benefits from his presence.

[Megan Morant]

Honestly, we benefit from the highlights.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, of course we do, but. And WWE benefits from saying he's a marquee player.

[Megan Morant]

Without question.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes.

[Megan Morant]

But the problem that we all have as wrestling fans with Logan Paul or with the current version of John Cena that we're seeing is him taking away from people like Jey USO from people like Cody Rhodes.

[Sam Roberts]

Logan Paul, the more truth.

[Megan Morant]

Yes. It feels like Logan Paul has been given everything on a silver platter. Now. He's very talented and I'm sure he works hard in his own way, but it's not the same as the journey of Cody finishing the story and the journey of Jey USO becoming World Heavyweight Champion and the journey of R Truth joining the Judgment Day. R Truth doing all of the things that R Truth has done that makes us all love him so much.

[Sam Roberts]

And it's also really interesting in wrestling because for so long, being a quote unquote good guy was passe. Being a good guy was like, it was really difficult to be a good guy. That wasn't like a wink, wink, cool good guy. Actually a bad guy does bad guy things, but is cool enough. So we'll cheer him. We're now in this era where you can have good guys again. And for a second, it felt like they were being taken away. But there was no doubt about it. At the end of the night, at the end of Money in the bank, the good guys won. And grown men and grown women and little boys and little girls, we were.

[Megan Morant]

High fiving children throughout the Intuit Dome.

[Sam Roberts]

Everybody was celebrating on the exact same wavelength. And that's the beautiful thing about professional wrestling. When everybody comes together and sees this through. And this idea that, like, at one point a year ago, if I told you no R Truth comes in and makes the save for Cody Rhodes and Jey USO against John Cena and Logan Paul, you go, what? Like, is it a goof? No. But tonight there couldn't have been a more perfect person to do it. It was amazing.

[Megan Morant]

I mean, throughout the week, the emotional rollercoaster that we all went on a week ago on Sunday. We all read the news on social media, and then the crowd erupting. Throughout Monday Night Raw, throughout Friday Night smackdown, throughout nxt, throughout Money in the Bank. Everybody wanted truth, and it feels good to get what you want.

[Sam Roberts]

So we saw. We saw a lot. The story of this match was an interesting one. We saw tension throughout the match between Logan Paul and John Cena. Blind tags, you know, John Cena trying to captain this thing on his own.

[Megan Morant]

Communication issues. Yeah.

[Sam Roberts]

And Logan Paul not taking too kindly to that. We saw quite a few attitude adjustments. We saw some pulverizers. Cody took a pulverizer. Thank God Jey USO was there to make the save. There was that one moment when Cody took the attitude adjustment that it was like, that's it. Oh, my God, it's over. And then at 2, and I would seven eighths, Cody gets that shoulder up, and there's just that much more fight in him. And then, of course, Logan Paul. I love this about Logan Paul. It's poetic, really, that, like, he's in prime position.

[Megan Morant]

No pun intended.

[Sam Roberts]

No pun intended, but I will accept it.

[Megan Morant]

Okay.

[Sam Roberts]

He's in prime position that time. The pun was intended to take advantage. Right. And he gets to the top rope, and then he sees that drone camera and he goes, come to me.

[Megan Morant]

Logan loves a camera. He's never seen one he doesn't like.

[Sam Roberts]

And it's a cool shot, except it was that camera that got his focus away from the match and allowed Cody to put him into that superplex off the top rope. We already talked about the table exploding, but then, I mean, the spear on.

[Megan Morant]

The table was awesome by Jay USO as well.

[Sam Roberts]

It was great table to table.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah.

[Sam Roberts]

Unfortunately, it left Jay USO prone in a position for Logan Paul to explode him through it.

[Megan Morant]

Yes.

[Sam Roberts]

But, you know, ultimately, for everything to go down the way it went down, I thought it was like, it was kind of a perfect ending to that story. There were a lot of great moments. I found the Intuit Dome was. We were here. We're here backstage at the Intuit Dome right now recording this pod.

[Megan Morant]

What an arena.

[Sam Roberts]

An amazing arena, but an amazing crowd. I mean, they were loud for many matches, for many different stories. You could tell exactly who the favorites were here, and I thought that that was a lot of fun.

[Megan Morant]

I thought the match also built very well.

[Sam Roberts]

The tag match.

[Megan Morant]

Yes. At the end.

[Sam Roberts]

To a crescendo.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah. I mean, there were points at the beginning I was kind of, okay, where is this going? It really it took you along for the ride.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah.

[Megan Morant]

You Talked about after WrestleMania how there's matches that are told in parts and.

[Sam Roberts]

Well, every story should be told in three acts.

[Megan Morant]

I felt like this had acts.

[Sam Roberts]

It's a great story.

[Megan Morant]

Here we go.

[Sam Roberts]

And act three was amazing. R. Truth showing up. I mean, or Ron Killings and wow. That's the point, right? R. Truth showing up leaves you only going, first of all, I feel great. What a great show. And second of all, what happens next? And it's so interesting because there were so many people that when this match was announced on Saturday night's main event between John Cena and R. Truth, there were many people that were going, why are we doing this match? What is this? Just some filler match? They were kind of poo pooing the whole thing. I didn't love that they were doing that, but that's what many people did. Now is the beauty of storytelling. We've weaved our way into this place where our truth is an essential player and in whatever is coming next for John Cena. And I think that all of us, myself included, who had this whole thing thought out and forecasted out, well, if Cody's coming back here, that means this match has to happen there and over here, it has to happen there. I'm at this place where I got to turn on the show to find out what happens next. And that's the way the show is supposed to work. You want to turn on the next show to find out what happens next and how this new universe looks. And this new universe is the universe in which our truth has become that essential player in this John Cena story.

[Megan Morant]

I mean, Sam, you and I, we pay attention to what the conversation is on the Internet. And all week it was, did John Cena get rid of our truth? And I even asked you today, like, do you think Anyway, no, there's no way. There's absolutely no way. Because then what happens next? What happens? And now we're left wondering the same question, but our truth isn't false in.

[Sam Roberts]

The best way possible. Yeah, a lot of amazing, amazing moments went down tonight. But one of the most amazing moments to me was not only the men's money in the bank ladder match, but the women's money in the bank ladder match. The women's money in the bank ladder match we had talked about. This was littered with this cast of women who really Exemplified where the WWE's women's division is today. From women that have been on the roster for years to women who are controlling the division today, to Women who are promising to control the division tomorrow, all assembled in this six person ladder match. And the person to get that briefcase was Naomi. Now, we are lucky to say that we ran right back to this room and said, somebody tried to get Naomi in here. That's what we said. And you know what? Somebody did, and they weren't successful. But then another person did and they were successful. We got the very first interview with the new Ms. Money in the bank, Naomi. Let's welcome the brand new Miss Money in the Bank, Naomi. How does it sound? It just happened. How does it sound?

[Naomi]

Ah, it sounds wonderful. I told him. I told him. I told everybody. Yeah, that's what everybody get for always counting me out. But you see what happened when you stop being so nice and you put yourself first, you get your little something.

[Sam Roberts]

Well, you do. I mean, results are clear. You are somebody who has been here for a long time, and you've seen a lot of women carry this briefcase, and you've seen a lot of women gain a lot of success from this briefcase. Knowing that this is not your locker room peer, this is not your tag team partner. This is not somebody who just came in. This is your briefcase. What are the feelings that go through you right now?

[Naomi]

Oh, my gosh. There's just the possibilities.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah.

[Naomi]

This is career changing for me. This can catapult me to where I see myself being, to where I've always should have been. Been there, you know, but could never really keep it there. This time I'm going to get there and I'm going to stay there. And this briefcase is going to help me do that. This contract is going to help me do that. This new found Persona, alter ego I have is gonna help me do that.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, it seemed like it snapped in and it seemed like you have complete. It's almost like Venom. You know Venom, that movie Venom, where the Venom takes over Eddie Brock and all of a sudden this. Yeah. Oh, you know about Venom. You know about. There it is like, I don't know that you have control over it, but also it clearly has results. So maybe you don't need control.

[Naomi]

Yeah, I had to pack the glow away for a little bit.

[Sam Roberts]

Glow.

[Naomi]

Just couldn't get the things done at this stage at this caliber we're at in the division. So I had to come up with something else. And it's working, so I'm gonna stay there.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, it's probably. Probably a good idea.

[Megan Morant]

Well, and you talk about the caliber in the division. Sam and I were talking about this a lot heading into the women's money in the bank ladder match. And it was kind of like all of these different generations were on display. You and Alexa, veterans, you had the, you know, really like the future and Julia, Stephanie Vacher, Roxanne. And then you have Rhea Ripley in the mix as well. What has it been like just to watch this all grow?

[Naomi]

It's been such a journey and an experience to have seen and been a part of so many different evolutions and eras of this division here in the wwe. And it just keeps getting better. And being in the money in the bank for the fifth time more than any of the other women. And I still didn't feel like I had a one up because a. Every single woman in there was believable. To have done it and to have won it and everyone is so good. So I just had to get up in there and get nasty.

[Sam Roberts]

And you did, and you did. And I congratulate you.

[Naomi]

Work smarter, not harder. I've done it the hard way all four times. You keep doing the same thing, expecting, you know, different results. That ain't gonna work. That's insanity. I ain't insane no more. As crazy as people think I am, I ain't crazy. I think I got good sense and I think I'm finally using my sense to get what I want. And it's working.

[Sam Roberts]

It is working. And it seems like that, I mean, we were noticing watching the match that like, you disappeared for the first half of the match. But what's the moment in every money in the bank match? What's the moment that everybody remembers the last one? You're climbing the ladder, right? And I mean, I also think, like, you're in such this position because a lot of us have watched the journey. A lot of us have been there from day one. So we're witnessing you be this bad human being attacking people, doing all of this. I mean, you threw someone through a windshield.

[Naomi]

I mean, it, you know, she didn't die.

[Sam Roberts]

No, she's all right. She survived. But. But my. But she is all right.

[Naomi]

But it's just a push.

[Sam Roberts]

It was a push. It was just the car was there. There is.

[Naomi]

You've seen all the things that have been done to me and what I've gone through. Everybody that I've helped, everybody that I put before myself. So now that I'm finally putting myself first, why am I wrong?

[Sam Roberts]

I think that there was this moment, though, that you walked out tonight and there was this collective realization that I think people realize that this is. This could be more so than any other year. Naomi's year. I felt that Megan was talking about on the podcast last week. This is the best work that we've ever seen out of Naomi.

[Naomi]

Okay, good.

[Sam Roberts]

When you climbed up that ladder, you stopped halfway through and you looked around and it felt like you took a moment before you climbed up the rest of the way and got the briefcase. When you realized you were the only person in the ring, what was going through you when you took that moment?

[Naomi]

I had to, because all the times prior, you're just trying to get there. I had to make sure this time that the coast was clear and that everybody. Nobody was, was. Was coming for me before I really went for it. And that's just the experience that I gained from all of the other times. I wanted to make sure that this moment was there and to take the right opportunity and time to really go up there and snatch it.

[Sam Roberts]

You've been a. You've been a singles champion here before. You've been a singles champion in tna, but there is something about you where when you first got to wwe, you were in a tag team. You were a funkadactyl. When you left the W, she still knows all the moves. When you left the wwe, you were in a tag team. When you came back to the wwe, you were in a tag team. There's something about now that feels like you've stripped all that away, and you've clearly identified yourself as a lonely singles star. Do you think that's something that you needed to do?

[Naomi]

Absolutely, 1,000%. And I think I've always fed off the energy of others. I've always enjoyed being in tag teams. I've always been the type to want to carry others, elevate others, give to others. And I think I'm at that point where. And I learned and found during my time away that I had given so much of that that I didn't put enough into myself. So when I came back, this go around in the breakdown of my relationships and friendships, you just. You just learn over time. And sometimes to get to the top of this business, sometimes you just got to do what you got to do is I've never been as cutthroat as I am now, but in this part of my career, I have to be sorry, newbies, sorry, nxt, sorry, old friends, no new friends. Are you at all concerned that Jade or Bianca or any other enemies that you may make on this road could interfere with a successful cash in? Because the women, I mean, it's been 100% success rate.

Yeah. I mean, this changes everything. So I definitely got some things to think about. I'm not too worried about Bianca. That's my baby. That's my girl. We going through our little. We're going through some trials and tribulations in our relationship. Jade can go to hell. I'm not worried about her, Bianca. I just gotta. We got some things to work through. I'm gonna just leave her alone for right now. She's healing. Her finger broke. I'm not too worried about her. Yeah, Tiffany and Jade, those are the only two I gotta worry about mainly, are my focus right now.

Well, yeah. She pretty much has been ruining my career since I returned and came back when I was chasing the championship. She did everything to stop me and be in my way and to help Nia, Jax. I ain't forgot about that. She the first one I'm coming for.

And it also goes back to what you were saying, and you said, sorry, newbies. I would imagine that there is a thing, right, when you hear everybody saying, for the last year or two, nxt, best women's division in wrestling.

[Naomi]

Before nxt, you got to think I was here during the first game show of NXT when there was only, I don't know, maybe six, seven, eight of us. I don't even remember before all of this, before Paige, there was Naomi before Caitlyn. There was Naomi before Mercedes Charlotte, Becky Bailey, the explosion of the four horsewomen. There was Naomi before Rhea Ripley. There was Naomi before Bianca Belair. There was Naomi before Roxanne. There was Naomi. And the list goes on and on and on. So I've been experiencing, seeing these newbies come in and take my shine for a very long time. And if I got to push them off a rooftop, I will from now on before I let another one take my shine and my spot.

[Sam Roberts]

And I love the. The poetry of it. The fact that you and I weren't.

Even trying to flow like that.

It just comes after the truth is the truth. It is. It is. And now somebody who relatively recently arrived to the main roster won the women's championship has to look down the barrel of a veteran with a briefcase who, by the way, try as you might, is garnering support. Because people. People go. When people hear you say stuff like that, they go, you know what? She's not wrong. That's the difficult.

[Naomi]

That's why I don't understand why everybody is so shook and so shocked that I'm clocking T now. I should have clocked t 16 years ago. I was too nice for 16 years. And now everybody like, oh, she's. She's unhinged. No, I'm not. I'm finally being honest for the first time, and I'm tired and I'm beat up. No, we not doing this no more. So I don't know what they gonna do. That's why I tell em.

And that's really what you have to do on a roster regarding male, female, whatever. In any sport, too. When you have a locker room and you're the person, but younger, hungrier people start coming in. If you don't match their appetite, if you don't grow with them, you're gonna get passed over.

Yeah. It's not. Step aside, here comes the new generation.

No, it's like, I'm.

But I mean, at the same time, you look at this division, that's a tough match to win. I don't know if the Naomi who Glue could win a match like this.

No, no, no, no, no. I think we're nailing it, actually kind of knocking it out of the park. The women's Money in the bank ladder match, I thought, fabulous match, kind of an amazing way. It was an amazing way to open the show for us, but not for anybody that had to follow it, because it was great. I mean, it was fast paced, it was brutal. It was like action, action, action. I mean, you go back to the beginning of the show and you talk about ax. There was. There was this moment I remember in the beginning of the match. It was like several minutes in, and I was like, I wonder why I haven't seen more of Naomi. Is this. I hope it's not like, oh, don't worry about it. Like, forget about Naomi. Concentrate on who's in the ring. But the reality is, it was because we're building. That's happening later. Right now, we're going to do this. And I thought, like, when you think about it, part of that generational divide that we were talking about means that Julia, Stephanie Vacair, Roxanne Perez, they've never been in Money in the bank ladder matches. They've never been in WWE ladder matches at all. You know, not on this level, not on the main roster. And so this idea that this is how they're being introduced to it on the largest stage when WWE is at the place where it's at is massive. But I thought. I mean, I thought they all delivered. I loved. And one of the reasons why I love the Money in the bank ladder match is the interactions that you get. I loved all the interactions. I feel like there was this kind of through line of Julia and Rhea Ripley as well as Stephanie Vacair and Rhea Ripley.

[Megan Morant]

And there was something going on between Alexa Bliss and Rhea Ripley. The match started with that eye contact. There was another moment later on in the match where we had it as well.

[Sam Roberts]

Yup, we got the moment. And I'm sitting there going, like, at this stage in the match, this is usually the moment where Rhea grabs control. You kind of feel the flow of what's going on. And that's how it felt when Stephanie Vacaira and Rhea Ripley got their hands on each other. And then when it looked like it might be some kind of powerbomb scenario or whatever, Stephanie was up on Rhea's shoulders and they start going to the ladder. What did I say? I said, megan, they're gonna do it on the ladder.

[Megan Morant]

And I go. And then I said, sam, does that move have a name?

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I said, that's the Devil's Kiss. But, you know. Cause you said, I can't wait till she. Ah, ah, ah, ah. And I was like, what are you talking about?

[Megan Morant]

Oh, yeah, yeah.

[Sam Roberts]

And I was like, she goes, I can't wait till she Booker T's her. And I go, huh? I've never seen Harlem Heat pull off a Devil's Kiss. And quite frankly, Stevie Radio might be better at it. We don't know.

[Megan Morant]

When you're talking about Stephanie Buckhair to anybody, you're like, I love that move she does. Oh, what's the move? Oh, it's the Ah, ah, ah.

Is my car alarm going off? Is that. Did I sit on my keys? Um, yeah. But the fact that she.

Yes. She had just wrestled at Worlds Collide earlier in the day.

Hey, Stephanie, we're gonna have you start money in the bank.

[Sam Roberts]

The day before, she was two hours away wrestling in the six woman tag, which all of them were. But she also had that mix of when Worlds Collide pushed into the entire equation.

[Megan Morant]

She's a beast.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, yeah. I thought the tension too, between. I like the interactions between Roxanne Perez and Julia because it was almost this thing of, like, I feel like these women. Coming up, the focus has really been on Stephanie, Vicaire and Julia. These international women that are coming in, they have this mystique about them. They have this elaborate entrance, they have all this stuff. Roxanne Perez was in NXT for quite a while before Stephanie, Vicaire and Julia showed up.

[Megan Morant]

Some would say the greatest NXT women's champion of all time. Who I might I better than Becky Lynch. All right, we're going to talk about.

[Sam Roberts]

That's why I said who, because I knew, I knew, I knew I was going to get you. I got you.

[Megan Morant]

But Roxanne Perez, an unbelievable NXT women's champion.

[Sam Roberts]

Well, point being, familiarity breeds contempt. Almost like there's this idea that, like, oh, look at these two. These are almost like the shiny new toys. Like, oh, this one from Japan, this one from Mexico. Like, they're coming in here, they're bringing this whole new style, they're bringing this whole new character, this flair. Oh, yeah. No, no, no. Roxanne Perez is great. I've been watching her. But look at these two. And I feel like when Roxanne Perez was going at. Was working with Julia and then going at it with Julia, there was almost this vibe of, like, Roxanne taking the moment for herself, being like, hey, hey, hey. There's a reason why people like Megan Morant call me the greatest NXT women's champion of all time. There's a reason why I stayed there and stayed at the top of the card the whole time.

[Megan Morant]

There's a reason why she's noticed the prodigy.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes, yes, yes. So I liked that she had that display. I'm with you on Alexa Bliss and everything that she was doing in that match. I mean, it was like, again, the idea of. Then we said it about Naomi not being able to rest on your laurels. It's no longer enough to just say, hey, it's me, Alexa Bliss, which is massive. And you heard that in the entrance, the minute her music plays, it's like there is this feeling of like, oh, my God, we're seeing Alexa Bliss. Oh, my God. Alexa Bliss is in this match. She's a massive star, and everything that she's accomplished goes right along with what she does. But at the same time, you can't enter the money in the bank ladder match with this stacked field and go, well, I'll be okay, cuz I'm just Alexa Bliss. And I'm so happy that Alexa Bliss walked in knowing that and took ownership of it and went, okay, if you guys are gonna go this hard, I'm gonna go harder.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah. And she's away from WWE for two years, and that's a challenge for anybody, whether it's for injury or for whatever reason it may be. And you always wonder, you know, is the crowd still going to respond? Am I going to get the same reaction if I. By being Alexa Bliss or whoever it is? And to your point, the music hits, she gets the reaction at the rumble, she goes away for even longer, couple months, Alexa returns. And for me, when I see Alexa, it's. It's the nuances, it's the small things that she does. And just by looking at her, the way she makes her entrance, her facial expressions, she's a star.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes, that's exactly right.

[Megan Morant]

It doesn't matter that she was gone for two years. She's a star.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah. Yeah. And the star power remains, if not actually grows. But I did feel like when the ring was empty and Naomi is climbing that ladder, I really do feel like we were like, oh, my God. This is the culmination, not of a storyline, but of all the years that Naomi has been putting in of her body of work. And Naomi's one of these wrestlers that has had fans for the entire time going, you're sleeping on Naomi. You're sleeping on Naomi. Why are you sleeping on Naomi? Stop sleeping on Naomi. That's what they say. And all those voices kind of followed her up the ladder. And that's why I thought it was so special when she kind of stopped and looked around because she saw what we all saw when, you know, halfway up, oh, my God, there's no way she's gonna make it up. And she's gonna get the briefcase. And now that she's got the briefcase, it's hard to believe that she's not gonna get the title as well.

[Megan Morant]

For me, everything changed with Naomi during the Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill Naomi storyline. When Naomi cried in the ring. Yeah, Bianca, Yes. And I said, oh, my gosh, this emotion coming out of Naomi, I want more of it. And every week she levels up. Every week she delivers. I cannot wait to see what she does with this Money in the bank briefcase.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, you know, a lot of these Superstars that were in the money in the bank briefcase match on the women's side and the men's side are going to be part of Fanatics Fest in New York City at the Jacob Javits Center. I think it can't be Chad Gable because he had the Creeds, put the ladder there for Grande, and then said, also tell me, but also LA traffic.

I mean, you and I are here. We know how bad it is. It would literally be impossible.

Literally. I don't know. One person that could get from Worlds Collide to a Money in the bank ladder match tonight. It would be literally impossible. And I think we'll leave it.

I think we're gonna leave it there. Okay, so. But he was unbelievable, the stuff this guy was doing. Obviously, he's watched his Chad Gable tapes. He did the ankle lock on top of the ladder. I thought it was the most amazing thing, watching Grande climb up one ladder from the outside of the ring up to the post. Then while a ladder was leaning on the turnbuckle, push that ladder over so that it hit the ladder that was up with two superstars fighting for a briefcase. I think it might have been Andrade and somebody else. I'm not 100% sure, because I was so distracted by Grande.

That makes. Yes, yes, 100% right. 100% right. Because then he uses that ladder that's tilted to, like, almost bridge himself to go from the turnbuckle to the ladder. Now he's halfway up. He goes up there, knocks off Andrade, headbutts Penta off the ladder. I mean, it was. It was awesome.

[Megan Morant]

In a weekend that was really highlighted by Lucha, Lucha wrestling. I mean, to have El Grande Americano at the front and center of it all. I think a lot of people are saying that he is the greatest luchador maybe ever.

[Sam Roberts]

They may. They said that in a package, so it had to be true. I don't know who produced it. Could have been Grande. I don't know. But also, I think. I don't know, maybe that might be part of the talent exchange, Right? Like a Lot of WWE guys were at Worlds Collide Wrestling with AAA guys. Maybe A's like, we'll send over Grande Americano. I don't know. I haven't done all the research on.

[Megan Morant]

That, but, I mean, in the short time that Grande's been in, WWE has been so impressive.

[Sam Roberts]

Also, I don't know too many.

[Megan Morant]

I mean, if performance and money be ready.

[Sam Roberts]

Phoenix at WrestleMania, I don't know too many luchadors that could do German suplexes that could. No, you know, so. So that's pretty impressive, too. The fireball ladder, obviously, it was very effective. You know, they put it there. They found it. It was fantastic. I was talking about the crowd. The crowd, to me, got so loud sitting out there for this match and the guy that they were cheering for. And of course, part of it is geographical, but part of it is that he has captured imagination. Penta. I mean, every time that guy got near that briefcase, that building was unglued. It was so loud. I mean, it was amazing, the support that the audience had for Penta.

[Megan Morant]

And how cool is that? The last time WWE was in this building, the Intuit Dome, was the Netflix premiere.

[Sam Roberts]

Good call.

[Megan Morant]

And Penta arrived at the Intuit Dome, and I feel like he's already grown so much. I mean, Sam, you've been following Penta's career for such a long time. Penta's somebody who's very new to me and to other WWE fans that maybe don't watch aaa, maybe haven't followed Lucha Underground. Lucha Underground. So I think to watch Penta, like, for me, he's grown, but he's just immediately grabbed the attention of the audience, and he's ran with it.

[Sam Roberts]

You know what it is about Penta? He has the same thing that AJ Styles has, which is. Or had. But aj, obviously, anybody who has it would had it, would still have it. But my point is, AJ Styles had this tremendous career outside of wwe, almost to the point where people were like, he's probably the best wrestler that will never go to wwe. He's not. Then he goes to wwe, and within months, he's a WWE Superstar. And that's how you know him. You know, because he's made such an impact so quickly in WWE that it doesn't discount everything else he's done, but he just feels to us, to the audience, like he belongs here. And I think that Penta shares that trait that Penta, seven months after his debut, six months after his debut, feels like a WWE Superstar. Feels like he belongs.

[Megan Morant]

I mean, you see him, you get It.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes.

[Megan Morant]

And I mean immediately from the entrance in each and every match, it's just everybody's fallen more and more in love with Penta.

[Sam Roberts]

He rules. He rules hard. But as all this was going on and Seth was having some trouble, of course, Seth's goons show up and. Oh, Penta's debut was the week after the Netflix premiere. It was promoted on the Netflix premiere. Is that right? Is that true? Yes, but it was promoted on the Netflix. That's right. Because there were all the vignettes playing.

[Megan Morant]

There's a lot going on. You know, I had pregnancy brain back then, so.

[Sam Roberts]

You did. You did. And we had Penta fever regardless. Okay. And that hasn't gone away.

[Megan Morant]

We still have it.

[Sam Roberts]

There's treatment for it, but there is not a cure. So Seth's goons come out. Here comes Bron Breakker. Here comes Bronson Reed, and they make, I mean, mincemeat of everybody else in this match. The spears that Bron Breaker was throwing around outside the ring, the tsunamis that Bronson Reed was dropping in the ring, it was a little bit disappointing because it almost felt to me, we all went, ugh.

[Megan Morant]

When they came out.

[Sam Roberts]

But also, as a participant in that match, did you not think, in a no disqualification context that, like, they're probably going to show up, that Seth is probably going to use the numbers game? And I'm going like. I'm going like, this is bad. Until. And I'm like, yeah, I lost my mind.

[Megan Morant]

The United States Champion is here to save us, right?

[Sam Roberts]

Here comes JC Mateo. Here comes the United States Champion. And we see the showdown that started on smackdown. And so many ramifications, by the way, that we didn't even factor in when that showdown first happens, with Seth Rollins sitting with Paul Heyman to a degree, the remnants of Roman Reigns bloodline looking face to face with Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu and J.C. mateo, to a degree, the remnants of Roman Reigns bloodline. And you're going. I mean, everything is so cosmically intertwined. It's so much fun. But to see this happen and you look at these beasts and you go, yes. This is the matchup that I want to see. Jacob and JC Mateo staring down with Bron Breaker and Bronson Reed, and they split up and everything. And at first, Seth's guys have it under control to the point where bron breaker spears J.C. mateo through the. Through the barricade.

[Megan Morant]

He's a big guy, J.C. yes.

[Sam Roberts]

Big guy. Yes. Yeah. I mean, all muscle, too. Just.

[Megan Morant]

Just a unit.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes.

[Megan Morant]

A tank.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes. Yes. But the tank went through, and that's, I think, why Braun Breaker was like, bro, I'm out. And then Bronson Reed is taking advantage in the ring until Jacob Fatou goes full Jacob Fatou mode. Because he forgot Jacob Fatou is all gas, no brakes. You know what I mean?

[Megan Morant]

Y' all know what I mean?

[Sam Roberts]

Okay, so Jacob Fatu is able to put Solo Sikoa in the exact place that Solo needs to be, which Solo.

[Megan Morant]

All throughout the match, you're just like, ugh, he's such a punk.

[Sam Roberts]

What are you talking about? He's got swag.

[Megan Morant]

Yes. But in such an annoying way. He's imitating Penta.

[Sam Roberts]

She said I'm a punk. She said I'm a punk. Like that.

[Megan Morant]

Exactly.

[Sam Roberts]

Yes, exactly. You're doing Penta's Sierra Miedo, but with Solo space for all those people who aren't watching and listening. I mean, it was wonderful. But you go Cerro Miedo.

[Sam Roberts]

Okay, Okay. I think it's great. I think it's great. I would watch, like, if they took, like, Bill Maher off of Real Time or whatever that show is called and put Solo in there instead. And he was just being that kind of, like, smarmy, like, guy. I would watch that every single night. I think Solo would do great at that. I mean, I can't have a red velvet blazer on. He's like, you hear what he said this week? You hear what he said this week? I think it'd be great. I think he's got. He's a very talented guy. Solo Sikoa.

[Megan Morant]

He is. He's slimy, gets under people's skin.

[Sam Roberts]

People have said that about me too, and I don't understand it either. So maybe that's why I like Solo so much. But. But Jacob sets the stage for him. He's like, don't worry. Ring is cleared. He gets him a ladder. Solo goes, no, no. I want the big one. Gets in the second ladder, opens up the big ladder. Solo is on his way up, taking his time. He's got a strut about it, too.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah.

[Sam Roberts]

Because Jacob is guarding that ladder like.

[Megan Morant]

A guard, and he's the Samoan werewolf who's gonna mess with him.

[Sam Roberts]

That's right. Like a German.

[Megan Morant]

And we just saw the mood salt.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we did. And so all of a sudden, Jacob looks up at Solo and grabs that ankle. And I swear, I mean, maybe my favorite moment of that match was Solo not understanding why he couldn't reach up and not understanding why his leg was immobile. And then Looking down and realizing there's a giant Samoan werewolf hand gripping his ankle and stopping him from moving anywhere. And Jacob just looks at him and shakes his head and he tells Solo that he hates him. And I said, and you know what? It was one step too far. Remember last night on Smackdown? What did Solo say? He said, because he's all gas, no brains, and Jacob heard it. And you're right. It gets under people's skin, especially when it's about you.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah.

[Sam Roberts]

And you know what? Solo was taking Jacob for granted.

[Megan Morant]

Well, look, Jacob, for months and months and months, he did everything for Solo. He protected Solo.

[Sam Roberts]

Solo.

[Megan Morant]

That's how it started. Right?

[Sam Roberts]

And I'm kind of mixed feelings about letting that go, by the way. I mean, I love you, Solo. That was my life philosophy for months.

[Megan Morant]

It was such a great time in our lives.

[Sam Roberts]

It really was. Luckily, have all gas, no brakes. You know what I mean? There's more.

[Megan Morant]

You know, I just loved when Jacob would enter behind Solo with his hands together. And the way he said with passion, I love you.

[Sam Roberts]

Can you imagine? I love when you do with that rolly voice, too. I think that's great.

[Megan Morant]

Yeah, I think that's awesome.

I love that. I love that you put a little stank on it. And I appreciate it. Thank you. But I just can't imagine having all that and blowing it, Having that kind of unconditional love and support and just absolutely blowing it. And he did. And Jacob says, it ain't happening. Jacob takes him out of the match. It has happened. It's no more like, oh, there's tension here. It's done.

And it leaves us, you know, back to what we were saying at the beginning. What happens next?

[Sam Roberts]

I'll tell you what happens next. All guests, no breaks. Jacob Fatu. But Jacob Fatou is now gonna have to play. Because in my head, I'm going, like, literally on Friday, I was going, imagine if J.C. mateo. I was talking to myself. Imagine if J.C. it's my best friend. Imagine if J.C. it's my only friend. Imagine if J.C mateo and solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu start to get along. And then Jimmy is like, oh, actually, you guys are pretty cool. And then they can rebuild the bloodline.

[Megan Morant]

You're such an optimist.

[Sam Roberts]

I was thinking in my head, I legit.

[Megan Morant]

Dreams crushed.

[Sam Roberts]

That's not gonna happen. And I can't imagine Jimmy would want to join his brother Solo now. Although, do you think Jimmy's gonna want to? Do you think there's anything inherent in Jimmy USO that's wanna be like, look, I don't like Solo, but he's literally my little brother. I can't let Jacob, like, destroy him.

There has to be. There's something to be said about that. Sharing blood. I mean, it's different when it's your sibling opposed to your cousin.

Like, what if Rikishi calls up Jimmy and goes, like, you can't let Jacob take out your little brother, dude.

But then on the other side of things, that's Smackdown. Monday Night Raw, while all this is going on, by the way, Seth Rollins just got the Money in the bank briefcase. By the way, where was CM Punk? Where? It was very interesting to me. CM Punk, Sami Zayn, Jey uso nowhere to be found. Jey uso had other things to worry about. Sami Zayn, CM Punk nowhere to be found. Maybe they said, we want to let the match play out the way the match is going to play out, but it played out with Seth Rollins having the Money in the bank briefcase. And I mean, I would say it's a guarantee he's going to be the World Heavyweight Champion or the WWE Champion, whichever one he goes for. Nobody knows how to utilize that briefcase historically like Seth Rollins.

[Megan Morant]

I mean, at the heist of the century.

[Sam Roberts]

Yeah. It's the best cash in of all time.

[Megan Morant]

He's going to successfully cash in. It's just a matter of when.

[Sam Roberts]

Wow. And we'll see when. I mean, we got a huge Monday Night Raw coming up. Of course, we've got. Not only do we have Nikki Bella returning.

[Megan Morant]

Well, I think this is kind of interesting that you just didn't want to talk about Becky becoming a women's Internet Continental Champion.

[Sam Roberts]

I mean, we will. I think Lyra Valkyria won the night, but we will. And Nikki Bella's returning on Raw. And we got Jey USO versus Gunther. And now we are in that space. We're both in the women's division and the men's division. When we talk about title matches, every conversation is going to be. And don't forget who's got the briefcase. And don't forget who's got the briefcase. It happens every single time, I promise you. We are about to talk about Becky lynch because she had a giant moment, and who knows? Maybe that moment will be immortalized on a Tops now card. If we get a Becky Lynch Tops now card, you gonna go for it?

Dominic defended the title successfully and dominated most of the match. And you're over here saying I've got some negative to say?

I just haven't really seen Dominic around, you know, looking to defend the title. This is the interconnected. That's what champions do.

They look to defend titles.

Well, I mean, the Intercontinental title is the workhorse title. And he hasn't exactly been a workhorse. And he hasn't even been out there to help support.

He hasn't been a workhorse. He did two shows today.

Like, we all felt a part of it, and we all felt sort of, you know, we were along the ride to that main event. And this past week, what did we hear all throughout arenas?
