Ahead on American Sunrise, the high stakes showdown between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. The big question this morning, where do US China relations stand? And maybe more importantly, where do they go from here? Plus, Congress takes aim at Chinese purchases of American farmland. Can lawmakers stop the concern before it gets too out of control? And later, the race for LA mayor is heating up. The big question, can influencer Spencer Pratt shake up city hall and make his case for cleaning up Los Angeles? Angeles? Those stories and so much more right now on AMERICAN sunrise.

I'm Alison Hans filling in for Dr. Gina live from West Palm Beach. Let's bring in Terrence Bates in our Denver newsroom. Good morning, Terrence. How you doing, Allison?
Terrence Bates
I'm doing well. It is so good to see you on this Thursday morning. By the way, David Brody is going to be joining us here in just a little bit. So we'll have him shortly. But Alison, we've been talking about it all morning long. You know, you know me by now. I'm a big nerd. So it's 10 o' clock last night and I'm up watching President Trump in China thinking, boy, you know, you need to go to bed because you're going to be tired in the morning. But like paint, watching paint dry, I could just couldn't get away from it. I'm sitting there watching. He, of course, sat down with Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday, they talked about trade, they talked about Taiwan, among other issues. President Xi and President Trump greeted by children, though, and I have to say, it was a little cringe worthy to me. I'm gonna show you guys this video and I'd love to see. I'd love to get everybody's perspective. Of course, since you're here, Alison, you get first dibs at it, but here's the video.
Alison Hans
Okay, Tarantino, I need you to state your case. No, I need you to state your case first and then let me respond.
Terrence Bates
Okay, so the kids jumping at two heads of state walking down a red carpet. Really, I don't see that. It seemed very choreographed. And I said this yesterday. All of this seems, from my perspective, it's very communist. It's okay. So you're going to jump, you're going to be very. You're going to be very animated. If not, your family's going to disappear. So have at it, kids.
Alison Hans
I was not going.
David Brody
I'm sorry.
Terrence Bates
That's the impression I got. I'm sorry.
Alison Hans
Okay, so no, I did not go there. I definitely did not go there. Yes, it was choreographed, and I understood that my. When I was thinking about everything that's transpired over the past 12 hours or so. And yes, you are nerd number one. I'm nerd number two, because I'm watching every moment of this as well. And yes, it is choreographed, but that is, I believe, the culture in China. What has really been remarkable to me is when you think at end, the. The greeting that this president and the cabinet is receiving over in China and compare that with past administrations, this is just absolutely unbelievable. I mean, I was really proud of the president. I was proud of our delegation coming over. They looked strong, ready. It was. I thought it was really, really cool. And it was something to watch. I mean, when you think about, I mean, first of all, Biden never visited China as president. Number one, he did visit as vice president, and he brought along his son who came back with nothing for us. And then you think about Obama. The last time that he went over was in September of. I believe it was 2016. September of 2016. And granted, it was not a state visit. It was like a diplomatic visit. But there was no one out there to greet Obama. He came off some weird place on the plane. It was like crickets. And then I think there was a little tussle on the tarmac between the media.
Mint Mobile Representative
Right.
Alison Hans
So to see this grand celebration for the United States president and our delegation, as weird or different as it May be. I think it's absolutely tremendous, and I'm really proud to be an American today.
Terrence Bates
Okay, I'll take your position on that, and let's raise you a David Brody. He is joining us now with his thoughts. David, I'm curious. How did you see this? I don't know if you heard, but when I was watching this, I was like, okay. In my mind, there was some sort of agent from some from the special Police there in China telling these kids, you better be boisterous, otherwise your parents will disappear and you'll never see them again.
David Brody
Yeah, exactly. Well, look, and Allison, I hear you, and it's a special moment. No doubt about that. Having said that, let me say a couple of things. First of all, this felt like a combination of Stepford Kids and the Squid Games. I mean, it was. It was really. It was really bizarre. I'm like, when is this thing going to turn bloody? I mean, it is Red China, after all. That was some of the things that were going through my mind. That's an unfiltered mind, which is always a scary part on my end. But look, I mean, I get the pageant and the circumstance and all. Excuse me, pomp and circumstance and everything. That's great. But what adds to the kind of unusual situation here is that you've got all of this going on, and on the outside, it looks so fluffy and warm and lovey dovey. And then you get into the details, as they like to say, the devil's in the details. And these are two superpowers that are in direct conflict with one another in many different ways. Informationally, geographically, ideologically, just everything theologically. I mean, they're persecuting Christians over there and the Uyghur Muslims. So you go down the list. So it's just kind of strange to me how we can see one thing, but the reality is something completely different. And I understand it's important for, quote, world peace for these two superpowers to get along, so we don't have some sort of World War iii. But you can make the argument that we're in some sort of sor. No doubt about it. With China right now.
Alison Hans
Well, keep your friends close and your
Terrence Bates
enemies closer and keep those kids far away from me.
David Brody
All right,
Terrence Bates
let's get a quick check of our Bible verse, if you don't mind, Alice.
Alison Hans
You got it. It is 2 Corinthians 12, 9. And he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly, I would rather boast in my infirmities than that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Let's now bring in RAV DC correspondent Neil McCabe. Neil, we don't need your take on the kiddos. What more can you tell us overall, a little bit deeper about this trip so far.
Neil McCabe
Well, I will let me just circle back on the kids because, you know, there was a faction before Xi took over, there was a pro American faction running China that was trying to deal with the United States. And Xi presented himself as someone who could deal with America because he went to school with Iowa. And so the pro American faction signed off on Xi. And then immediately after taking power, he set up as the neo Maoist. And that's really what you're seeing is, you know, when I was watching the ceremony, I was watching that neo Maoism, but also I got to believe that the Chinese saw how the greeting that King Charles gave Trump in England and what Trump did for King Charles here in the US and they're just saying, okay, if that's how England and the United States do it, we're going to do that, too, because we're playing on that stage. I thought it was also interesting that in Xi's comments and what we're hearing is that he said, my number one concern, my number one priority is Taiwan. And he mentioned the Thucydides trap. The Thucydides trap is not really something they talk about in China. That's very much a Western or American idea. And that's in history. When you see a rising power competing with an established power, that leads to war. And so Xi was playing, you know, put out the red carpet. There was a ban, there was children. But he also said Taiwan is important and you should consider whether you want to have a war with me or not. And I think that's really the message coming out of this summit so far.
David Brody
Neil, the word from the White House this morning is that China is interested or is talking about purchasing more American oil. Your thoughts on that and what might be the benefits and possible risks with that as well?
Neil McCabe
Well, all that Chinese oil, not only does it come from Iran, but it passes through the Malacca Strait, which is basically Indonesia, Singapore, and then up past the Philippines, that big, that sort of elbow where it comes out of the Middle east and then heads north to Northeast Asia. And that's the same route that all that oil goes to Taiwan, South Korea, again, all those people in Northeast Asia. I think it is in China's interest if we could build something in Alaska and then take two or three days, just like Trump Said, I would like to see something firm and some follow through. It's my understanding that these are sort of notions that they will do it, but not the hard commitments that we're seeing in some of the other areas.
Terrence Bates
Neil, talk about the symbolism of President Trump's trip there to China, specifically from the perspective of the Chinese regionally. You were kind of making a point before this show that I thought was quite interesting.
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah.
Neil McCabe
So obviously, we're focusing on how, you know, this is affecting Trump and the United States on the Chinese side. What is Xi trying to get out of this? The first thing is he needs to boost himself domestically. Even though he's an authoritarian and there's no real political life in China, it is still important that the people have some kind of good feeling towards their leaders. And so he's trying to boost himself politically, if that's a word, in China. He is an operator on the world stage, and he is there to represent their interests. The second thing, and I think it's even more important, is that by showing this relationship with the United States, and we saw that with the big welcome, that message was also to China's neighbors, all of whom are our allies. And the message to China's neighbors is, I can deal with the United States, and as soon as Trump goes home, you're going to have to deal with me.
Alison Hans
Absolutely. And one last thing, Neil. We're talking about Taiwan. I do think that's the headline here. What. What can we expect to see over the next couple of days that's going to give us some red lights flashing?
Neil McCabe
Well, you know, one thing about Taiwan is that there was a huge weapons deal that was announced right before Trump left, and that was a flex, and we got to see how this Taiwan thing works out. There are factions inside Taiwan that want to have reunification, and we'll see how that plays out. I think what you're going to see is that Taiwan will continue to operate as an independent country, but they have to continue to reform their military, frankly. And I've studied this. Taiwan is not ready to fight. And so they need to sort of delay, delay, delay. But if. If Xi is sending these signals, he might be ready to launch himself in the next year or two.
Alison Hans
Okay, Neil McCabe, thank you so much for your time this morning.
David Brody
Thanks, Neil.
Terrence Bates
Thanks, Neil.

Coming up, we check out the hottest headlines from the RAV newsroom with T. Bates. And later, China's grip inside America. How deep does it go and how has it been allowed to happen? Expert analysis is straight ahead on American Sunrise.

It's nighttime in China and President Trump, along with the US delegation that he brought to Beijing should be getting some rest after an eventful first day on the ground. There in Beijing, the US Commander in chief met with his Chinese counterpart. While you were sleeping. The pair spent about two hours behind closed doors at China's Great hall of the People setting the stage for the talks that China's setting the stage for the talks. Excuse me. China's Foreign Ministry saying the Taiwan question is, quote, the most important issue in China. U.S. relations right now. Terrence Bates
Thank you very much. Tonight our time which will be tomorrow morning. In China, the President will participate in more ceremonial events with President Xi before ending his three day trip and returning home on Friday. The nation's central bank has a new chairman this morning. President Trump's pick, Kevin Warsh was confirmed to head up the Fed on Wednesday in a near party line vote. Current Chairman Jerome Powell's term ends on tomorrow. However, he'll remain on the board of Governors. Warsh's confirmation comes right on time at comes right on time at the Federal Reserve or as the Federal Reserve opened Market committee is set to meet this weekend. It will be the 56 year old's first meeting as chair. Industry insiders say there's a 97% probability that interest rates will remain unchanged. This despite President Trump's call to lower them. Inflation remains over the Fed's 2% target and is now rising faster because of spiking gas prices. It will be interesting to see though if wars pushes for an interest rate cut given his predecessors than rather reluctance to do so. That reluctance caused major beef between Jerome Powell and President Trump. Accused murderer Alex Murdaugh's life sentence for allegedly killing his wife and son are on hold this morning after his conviction was overturned Wednesday. South Carolina Supreme Court reversed the conviction because the court clerk at Murdaugh's trial suggested that he was guilty. The disgraced lawyer will not be getting out of prison anytime soon though, as he is still serving a 40 year federal sentence for stealing around $12 million from his clients. He's also serving a concurrent 27 year state sentence for financial crimes. South Carolina prosecutors say they're considering appealing the state Supreme Court's ruling. In the meantime, they are preparing to retry the 57 year old on that vacated murder charge. That's a quick check of your headlines. Now let's get a quick check of your forecast with Weather Nation meteorologist Tracey Anthony Tracy. Good morning to you.
Tracy Anthony
Hey, good morning, Terrence. You know, we've been kind of stuck in this blocking pattern all week. So some of the same headlines when it comes to extreme heat across the Central Plains, fire danger. And now we're tracking multi day severe weather as that heat has continued to build. So this severe weather threat will linger today and tomorrow through the weekend and even into next week. But why do you spread red flag warnings and high wind warnings still remain across the High Plains all the way down to areas of New Mexico. So extremely widespread. And we were clocking winds upwards of 94 miles per hour across Montana yesterday. And we still have that system working through the Dakotas. So expect breezy conditions, relatively calm and quiet when it comes to moisture. The Northeast and New England. That's where we're going to have kind of the soggiest day. The rest of us in the clear. But it's that heat. Look at Wichita, Kansas, 90 degrees. Omaha going to be at 83 and Denver 87. So Terrence, you're still on the warm side there as temperatures trending well above average. So record heat sticks around through the week for the Central Plains. Like I said, that's going to fuel the fire danger with widespread red flag warnings in place and then several days of strong to severe thunderstorms with Kansas kind of right in the bullseye. The other thing that we're talking about here is the pollen in Kentucky. It's getting pretty bad. I don't know, Terrence. If you have any allergies or if any of our viewers have been dealing with some spring allergies, let us know in the chat.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, pollen can be a, well, I'm not gonna say a killer, but it can definitely mess up your day for sure. Yeah, I'm glad I kind of control that one. Not a killer, but can mess up your day. Very uncomfortable. All right, Tracy, good to see you.
Alison Hans
Yep.
Tracy Anthony
And don't forget to download the Weather Nation app for all your latest updates on the severe weather the next couple of days.
David Brody
All right?
Terrence Bates
Absolutely. We'll check in with you next hour as well. Up next, though, President Trump's high stakes meeting with Xi Jinping could mark some real big significant changes when it comes to global consequences like trade tariffs, Taiwan and America's strength on the world stage. So what's on the table during these ongoing talks? We'll have the latest for you ahead.

That is your nation's capital. Joe Biden, quick, you've got five seconds. Name the capital of the United States. Thanks for watching, Joe. Okay, I know you're not. Welcome back everybody, to American Sunrise. President Trump met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. That's a lot to say. Xi Jinping in Beijing. You try that anyhow. For high stakes talks on trade tariffs, Taiwan, and the conflict with Iran, Xi warned that mishandling Taiwan could lead to clashes, even conflict. Both leaders also called for stable economic relations following last year's trade dispute. Let's talk about it now. Allison and T. Bates, we're all back together again talking China. T. Bates, what's interesting here, a couple things. First of all, in Taiwan, I mean, Xi Jinping has said that he might or he's thinking about possibly going into Taiwan. Taiwan, excuse me, Taiwan. Taiwan in the spring of 2027. That's a concern, clearly. And that is going to put the president in an interesting situation. Speaking of an interesting situation, T. Bates, you wonder, you know, Trump loves to ad lib, but ad libbing on Taiwan during this trip may be a problem. So it'll be interesting to see what he says about that as we move forward here.
Terrence Bates
And you know what, on the Taiwan issue I feel like, and when I read and really even last night was kind of listening to Xi's remarks, I was struck by the fact that your pretty much opening this meeting saying, look, Taiwan is going to be a thorny issue if you get involved. That's what I'm reading kind of between the lines. If you get involved, this is going to become a thorny situation, and it's going to become a situation that's going to put us at odds, which says to me I'm really considering invading Taiwan. I'm going to take some action. So get your mind right and get in line. That was the message that was sent to me, and I think it's an interesting message to send right at the beginning of this sort of state visit. I think it really sets a tone. Alison?
Alison Hans
Well, I don't know what's going on behind the scenes, but in front of the scenes, the Chinese are coming out and saying the topic of Taiwan is off limits. You even had the two leaders a couple of hours ago standing side by side and reporters were lobbing questions. They brought up the Taiwan question and it was crickets. That was it. They're not supposed to be talking about Taiwan in public. So I don't, as I said, I don't know what's happening behind the scenes, but it is, it's beyond a thorny issue. It's, it's a sticking point. And I don't know where they go with this.
David Brody
Yeah, I don't know.
Terrence Bates
I think it sets the stage. David, I'm sorry, I just want to just add, I think it sets the stage for a military face off again. I think it's fair to say that we're already in a war, technologically and otherwise, but I think it's setting the stage for a potential military face off between the United States and China. And I'm not going to lie, I'm frightened. That's scary to me.
David Brody
Oh, I agree with you, T. Bates, and I'll be honest with you. Can you, Allison T. Bates, can either one of you guess what President Trump would do in that situation? I mean, you know, the conventional thinking by any American president would be, not on my watch, absolutely not. But then again, with President Trump and the relationship he has with Xi and we're committed in other places, whether it be Iran and who knows what's going to happen next year. I'm not sure. I think it's a wild card. I have no idea what President Trump would do in that situation. I really don't.
Alison Hans
Yeah, I don't know either. I don't know either.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, and let's add to that we're spread sort of thin. Taiwan is an island. Let's not forget that. So Protecting it would also be a Marine operation. It would be a seafaring operation protecting this island. And a lot of our Navy is. Is committed to the Middle east right now, committed in Iran, committed in that theater, as the Navy calls it. And so we kind of have to, I would imagine, redistribute some of those resources, which would take weeks, if not, well, probably weeks. Maybe not months, but weeks. So, again, I'm no military expert, but I think anybody who's reasonable and who's kind of watched what's happening would probably agree that we're spread somewhat thin, particularly when it comes to our Navy.
Alison Hans
Well, besides the Taiwan issue, Military.com has a headline, and it basically says, new bill bars China and other adversaries from buying U.S. farmland and real estate. Now, Trump met with Xi, and this new bill aims to safeguard national security and food security. And this is something that a lot of Americans are concerned about. I certainly don't want to see Chinese entities owning land across the United States. It upsets me deeply, and I don't know how far this goes or if this can pass or what can happen. I'd love your thoughts, gentlemen.
David Brody
Well, a couple of things. First of all, yeah, it's not just farmland. Obviously, when they say other property, we're talking about real estate that's right next to naval or, excuse me, military bases, which is a big concern. So it's not just the actual land that they're buying, but the proximity and the real estate, if you will, the actual location. Right. They always say in real estate, location, location, location. Well, in this case, it really means something, and it's not. And it's not good. It's dangerous. You know, I visited with Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders about a year and a half ago or so. I went out there to Arkansas, and she. They passed a bill in Arkansas, and they're doing this in many states where the Chinese cannot come in and buy farmland, they cannot come and buy real estate, especially next to the military bases. So this is being tackled and passing a law in many states across this country. I say many states. Tbates. I'll have to check to see how many states have done this, but I know it's more than a handful. So it's good that Congress is looking at this, but the states are taking action. Absolutely.
Terrence Bates
And it's something that needs to be addressed. But even apart from legislating the limits on some of these foreign nations and particularly adversaries owning American land, there also needs to be some real due diligence done because let's be honest, it wouldn't surprise me as many of these countries try to circumvent the law by, you know, opening up shell companies or having these other sorts of agencies, even maybe Americans, buy land in the name of these countries. So it's definitely something that's of concern and potentially dangerous, particularly when you look at it from a national security perspective.
Alison Hans
Alison, this is just such a tricky trip, negotiation, whatever you want to call it. The bottom line is that China has infiltrated our country, our society, at every level. And so how do you disentangle but still have a relationship? And you have that camp that's calling decouple. Decouple. Decouple. I don't think that's really possible at this point and in this day and age. So how do you have a relationship with someone who is your adversary and you make a deal with them and you don't even know if they're going to stand by the rules of the negotiation?
David Brody
Right. And it's not just two adversaries. It's communism and capitalism.
Bobby Charles
Right.
David Brody
I mean, you've got totally two different worldviews, if you will. So I think that makes it harder. By the way, I was looking down, just doing some quick research. At least 28 states, by the way, have passed laws or some sort of restriction where China or anybody, any foreign entity, cannot buy farmland and certain real estate in their states. So FYI. Okay, guys, coming up, losing weight is tough. Take it from me, I'm an expert. Keeping it off. I'm an expert at that because it's even tougher. Now, new research points to a simple daily number that could help. How many steps does it take? The answer next on American Sunrise.

We are looking at a beautiful shot this morning of Kansas City, Missouri. Oh, looking good there. What a wonderful way to start off your Thursday morning. Thank you so much for joining us. Welcome back. Time now for today's health news sponsored by the Wellness Company under the Microscope today. New research suggests people who lose weight may be able to help keep it off by walking about £8,500 steps a day. That sounds like a lot. Well, the review presented at the European Congress on Obesity and published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found people in lifestyle programs who increased and maintained their daily step count were less likely to regain weight after dieting. Researchers say the Target is about 1500 steps lower than the common 10,000 step goal. Experts say consistent movement along with healthy eating habits remains key to preventing weight regain. Well, are we on the verge of another pandemic? Is the hype real? Should we be worried? Or is this just another effort to terrorize Americans before an election? Who can we trust? Well, that's where the Winter Wellness Company comes in. You see and hear from TWC doctors all the time on this network and you know that their products are the gold standard for keeping you and your family safe and healthy. Well, the Wellness Company gives you the opportunity to make sure you are prepared for whatever happens with their series of prescription medical kits, kits that contain an assortment of life saving medications and guidebooks to assist in the proper use of these medications. Additionally, the Wellness Company offers a variety of products from parasite cleanses to methylene blue to weight loss and so much more that can help you stay healthy and live a longer and more satisfying life. Be prepared, not scared. Go to www.twc.health rav today and order that's twc.health rav use the promo code RAV to save 10%. Now let's send it over to David.

Thank you, Alison. Appreciate it. All right. Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt's run for LA mayor is dividing Hollywood. You have celebrities like Paris Hilton and Kristen Cavallari publicly backing the former reality star. Pratt, who lost his Pacific Palisades home in last year's fire, is gaining attention after a well received debate performance and viral pro Pratt campaign videos ahead of the June 2 primary. By the way, here is one of the ads from Pratt that has been helping to fuel his rise. Have a look. This is where Mayor Vass lives. You notice something?
Neil McCabe
Or here, where Nithya Raman's three million dollar mansion sits. They don't have to live in the mess they've created.
Terrence Bates
Where you live.
Neil McCabe
This is where I live. They let my home burn down. I know what the consequences, consequences of failed leadership are. That's why I'm running for mayor. For my sons and the rest of us Angelenos that want to stop these corrupt politicians from destroying our city. We are going to get the golden
Sponsor Announcer
age of Los Angeles back.
David Brody
All right, let's bring in actor and the author of Embrace Masculinity. That would be our good friend Braden Sorbo. Braden, what do you think? What do you make of what's going on in California? There's some authenticity to what he's talking about, for sure.
Mint Mobile Representative
Oh, yeah. As someone who grew up in California, I spent the first, you know, nearly 18 years of my life about 40 miles north of Los Angeles in a small little town called Thousand Oaks. And we suffered from the 2019 fires. I remember I had basically seven houses on my little cul de sac, and four of them, barring two of my neighbors and my own, burned down. They were just obliterated, destroyed. And the state did nothing to help. I mean, and you look at these most recent fires that took place, what, just over a year and a half ago now. And once again, Mayor Bass had just destroyed and failed her constituents beyond repair. And the fact that she's still mayor, I mean, she wasn't even in the country when the fires happened. And I have friends who are firefighters in California who said, well, yeah, she wasn't making sure that the fire hydrants were up to date. They were actually providing water so that when the fires came in, they couldn't even do anything. And so the fact that she's still running for mayor, the fact that she still is mayor is disgusting. I mean, Spencer Pratt, given the three choices, Nithya Raman, who was just caught on video saying, why does it matter if There's a homeless drug encampment 500ft within a school. And then rolling her eyes as her constituents booed her for that because she sits in a $3 million mansion and doesn't have the same problems at her private charter school where her kids go. Right. This is.
Terrence Bates
This.
Mint Mobile Representative
This level of elitism that we're seeing is the reason why people are so fed up. I mean, they're so out of touch and disconnected with reality. They sit in their mansions looking down on everybody else as if they think they're better than them. And then you look at someone like Spencer Pratt, who was a reality TV star, and now TMZ is writing hit pieces on him, saying, oh, well, he lives in a. In a, you know, the Bel Air Hotel right now and not actually in the Airstream. Well, yeah, he's getting death threats. The house that he had burned down, and now he's receiving death threats from crazy leftists because they don't want him to run for mayor. So, of course he has to go to a place that is protected with security. And people are some, for whatever reason, still looking at these debate performances and looking at everything going on and deciding, yeah, you know, Bass, I'll give her another chance, or Ramen, she can have a shot at running for mayor. She's done such a wonderful job as a councilwoman. Why not give them. It blows my mind.
Alison Hans
Yes. Yes, it blows my mind as well. But at the same time, I think there are so many people who are listening and watching these amazing commercials that Spencer Pratt is putting out. He is out there calling Bass out to her face, and that amazing debate performance on top of it. There's just, I think, this level of authenticity, and I want to say young man, but I think at this point, I think he's like 40 years old or around. There is, I think, a model for campaigns across this country. What do you think specifically is engaging? Maybe not those people who are ignoring what's going on, ignoring reality, but those people who are starting to wake up and are attracted by the possibility of this man as. As mayor.
Mint Mobile Representative
Well, a lot of people in California are right leaning just straight out of the box. The problem is you have such a dense population, and since it's a sanctuary city, you have such a dense population of illegals. And you saw it during the debate when the moderator asked, yes or no, should illegals, non citizens, for the politically correct term, be allowed to vote in mayoral or any election in California? And he said no. That was his answer. And then Bass and Rahman went on this Word garbage. Just vomit.
Neil McCabe
That said nothing.
Mint Mobile Representative
That said nothing. And you're looking at that as a voter, as somebody who is seeing your state get destroyed. One of my good friends I still talk to, he's going to be a groomsman in my wedding. He is an H VAC technician out in California. And he said, dude, I drive a regular car. It takes regular gas, and gas is 550A gallon. Like, I can't survive in that city. I'm doing everything that I can to barely support myself. I don't even think I have the means to take care of a family right now. And he's looking at the destruction and the allowance of crime to take place because you will be arrested in Los Angeles for if you're homeless or on drugs or you do something and they will just let you right back out. It's like this catch and release that we see all over in major leftist cities in New York, you know, all of those places that are slowly destroying their culture. What. What made them so great? What enticed people to move to them in the first place? And so a lot of Los Angeles,
Terrence Bates
what do you say?
Mint Mobile Representative
Los Angelenos, right? Californians, not even in Los Angeles who are watching this are waking up and realizing this might be our guy. I mean, what Was the stat? 90% of the people who watched the debate said that he won unequivocally. Not even, oh, you know, he did a little bit better than. But no, he swept the floor with them. And so, yeah, it's a great thing to see a politician. And he's not even inherently extreme right wing. He's just a guy with common sense like most of us are, right? It's just, I just want basic, basic things to be passed, basic laws that benefit American citizens. That's all I want. I just want to keep promoting this idea of family, this idea of freedom. And the things that made America so great are what I want to live with.

This is an English language country and that's how we speak. That's how we communicate.
Alison Hahn
Let's bring in Allison, David and Terrence for more here. Alison, want to get your thoughts first? This is an English speaking country. The crazy thing is that's not even the official language of the United States states. I really think that we need to, we need to put our culture at the forefront 100%.
Alison Hans
And I think when I first saw this image, because that was like a big poster assimilate or go home. I was like, whoa. I was kind of shocked by it. And then I started to listen to what he had to say and I started to reflect on it and I was like, you know what, what he's saying is the Truth. And I respect him for getting up there and speaking the truth. And I think that so many people have been so wishy washy, especially a lot of RINOs on immigration, that this is how we have ended up in the situation that we're in, which is intolerable and intolerable for our school system. So you know what? Good for Tommy Tuberville. I liked it, Terrence.
Terrence Bates
So for me, it comes down to spirit versus rule. I enjoy and appreciate the spirit of his remarks. And for me, the spirit of those remarks really are rooted in assimilation. That we've got so many people coming to this country who refuse to assimilate. That was the spirit of the remarks for me. That was my interpretation that. So that many of these people who are in this country illegally or who are immigrants just refuse to assimilate. So from that perspective, I fully agree with him. There needs to be assimilation. But the idea that American schools are failing because there are so many illegal immigrants and because of immigration, I'm not so sure I fully agree with that point. I think that we've been failing and there are many reasons for that, some socioeconomic, some just in terms of the system and indoctrination instead of the focus on education. So I'm not so sure that I fully agree with all of those remarks. But again, the spirit of what he had to say, and from my interpretation, it comes down to assimilation and the fact that so many illegals and so many people in this country who are immigrants just in general refuse to assimilate. For me, David, that was the bigger point.
David Brody
Yeah. You know, the Polling shows that 76% of Americans want immigrants to learn English, that they believe that they should be learning English and it will help them succeed. And that's the point, right? I mean, you know, I mean, Tommy Tuberville comes out with that big sign, and you're right, it's kind of jarring at first. And you go, wait a minute, it says, or go home. Well, yeah, or go home. In other words, it's not like a negative thing. It's more like, hey, come here. Sure, do it legally and assimilate. And guess what? The world is your oyster. The American dream is there for you. I mean, that's what our country's all about. But do it legally, assimilate. That's what we used to do back in the day, Ellis island and many of the tens of thousands that came over here, they wanted a better way of life. They didn't come over here to get benefits and send it back home to their family members. I mean, it wasn't that. I'm not saying some of that didn't happen, obviously, but mostly that was not the reason for it. So things have changed. No doubt. And that's not good for the country.
Alison Hans
Yeah.
Terrence Bates
You know what, Emily, if I can just, if I can just clarify as well. Like, as I said, yeah, assimilation is the key. And the most fundamental way to assimilate is to learn the language. That's the most basic way that you assimilate. Sorry, Alison, go ahead.
Alison Hans
No, it's just like one of the most offensive things that I see sometimes at protest or things like that is you'll see an American flag wrapped with a Mexican flag. Like they're in one in the same. And I'm like, no, not having it, not having it. You're either here, you want to be an American, and you're flying the American flag. We're not cutting up our flag.
Alison Hahn
Interesting points all around. All right, coming up, a stunning new discovery high in the mountains of Turkey that could change how we look at one of the Bible's most famous stories. We'll show you what American researchers just found buried beneath Mount Ararat and why many are calling it a miracle when American Sunrise returns. Stay with us.

Welcome back to American Sunrise. It is time now for our moment of Faith brought to us by Lee Greenwood and the God Bless the USA Bible in focus Today, a stunning new discovery high in the mountains of Turkey, where American researchers near Mount Ararat have uncovered a network of underground tunnels and chambers that appear to match the biblical blueprint of Noah's Ark. Using ground penetrating radar and soil testing, the team at Noah's Ark scans says the structures line up with the Description In Genesis 6:14, pointing to what many believers see as powerful new evidence of God's word coming to light. More than 4,000 years later. Joining us now to discuss further is Rev host Alison Hans. Alison, this is pretty cool. I love to see, you know, the word actually, the evidence of it actually, you know, real.
Alison Hans
So cool. I'm no archaeology expert, but to see it there and to know that all of this scientists, the scientists are out there working on this, it's absolutely fascinating. I think that. But it brings like a larger question, I think in terms of religion or faith, of wanting to find proof of things in the Bible. And so I think that, you know, that longing for something real, physically tangible that we can point back to is a question I think that we're. Or a topic that we're always looking for.
Martha Stewart
I don't know.
Alison Hans
What do you think?
Alison Hahn
Absolutely. I know I certainly am. You know, something that I think about often are the Marian apparitions. So many have reported that all over the country. We recently just celebrated the feast of Our lady of Fatima, the miracle of the sun. Tens of thousands of people all reported seeing the same thing on that day. And there are countless examples of Bless.

I'm gonna stop you there. So you got, you have to inform me about this. I know that you're more well read than I am.
Alison Hahn
Oh goodness.
Alison Hans
So what was that?
Alison Hahn
Yeah, well, we don't have time for the full story here, Alison, but I will give you some notes in the break. It is very cool and your mind is going to be absolutely blown. So we will definitely. And we'll share it in our YouTube chat with all of our viewers as well. So get in the chat, get in the chat. We'll talk about Fatima. All right, we'll be back at the second hour of American Sunrise in just two minutes. Stick around.

I think when you're diagnosed with cancer you crave a semblance of normalcy and control and so work allowed me to be me. So I think it's really important that companies stay flexible. Cancer in a diagnosis can be all consuming, but it doesn't have to be.

Coming up on the second hour of American Sunrise, President Trump and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping begin their two day summit discuss discussing trade, Taiwan, the war in Iran and other issues. We'll have the latest on the high stakes meeting straight ahead along with the jumping children. Plus California gubernatorial candidate Javier Becerra. Excuse me. Drawing criticism from all directions after he pushed back on answering tough questions during a sit down with a local reporter. We're going to show you how that went down later on. Also ahead, controversy in California's prisons emerges as a new report shows inmates are using taxpayer funded devices to view explicit material. We're going to break the details down later on those stories. So much more as the second hour of American Sunrise starts right now. Good morning, America.
Alison Hahn

David Brody
Welcome back, everybody, to the second hour of American Sunrise. I'm David Brody coming to you from D.C. let's bring in Allison Hans, who's in West Palm beach this morning for Dr. G and T. Bates in our Denver newsroom. Good morning. I think the question, folks, is, are those Chinese kids still jumping? Obviously, that's number one. And then after that, it seems to me that China has forget the one child policy. They have a more than one child jumping policy. Alison, good morning.
Alison Hans
Good morning to you. We're still on the kids. We've been talking all morning.
David Brody
Yes, we are.
Alison Hans
About all of the pageantry of the welcoming ceremonies for the president and his delegation. And we've had a little differing opinion on what that looked like. I happened to like it. Okay. I thought it was grand and very interesting. And I was just very impressed that they would roll out the red carpet and do everything possible to welcome our president and the delegation. I know you two feel a little differently, so I'll let you take it away.
David Brody
Squid game.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I feel a little bit different about that. And quite honestly, there needs to be an investigation if those are really kids or like some sort of AI Bot. But the other thing that I'll add, we need to bring in Emily Finn, who, of course, is our resident heavy metal fan. This is like a Chinese mosh pit. I'd love to get her perspective. It's like a Chinese kid mosh pit over there. So when we get Emily back on here a little bit later in the show, we'll have to ask her about that. I'm sorry, it's just. Yeah, it's a little off putting for me. And maybe it's just. Maybe I'm showing my age. You're obviously much younger than us, Allison. I'm showing my age. I'm just uncomfortable with it.
Alison Hans
I love you today. Can I go through the screen and give you a big old hug?
Terrence Bates
Come on, girl. Put it right here. Put it right here. There you go. Come on.
Alison Hans
I'll jump up and down with the flag. I'll jump up and down with the flag. Terrence, that is hilarious.
Terrence Bates
All right, guys, let's get to some quick headlines here before we bring in our next guest. It's nighttime right now in China and President Trump along with the US Delegation that he brought with him to Beijing, should be getting a bit of rest after a really eventful first day on the ground. The US Commander in chief met with his Chinese counterpart while you were sleeping. The pair spent about two hours behind closed doors as China, China's great hall of the people. They set the stage for the talks or setting the stage for the talks, China's foreign ministry saying that the Taiwan question is the most important issue in China, US Relations right now. Now in his opening remarks, however, President Trump taking a really positive outlook on that relationship. It's an honor to be with you. It's an honor to be your friend. And the relationship between China and the
Sponsor Announcer
USA is going to be better than ever before.
Terrence Bates
Thank you very much. And tonight, which will technically be tomorrow morning in China, the president will participate in more ceremonies, events with President Xi Jinping before ending his three day trip to China and returning home on Friday. The nation's central bank has a new chairman this morning. President Trump's pick, Kevin Warsh, was confirmed to head up the Fed on Wednesday in a near party line vote. Current Chairman Jerome Powell's term ends tomorrow, however, he'll remain on the board of governors. Warsh's confirmation comes right on time as the Federal Reserve's open Market Committee is set to meet this weekend. It will be the 56 year old's first meeting as chair. And accused murderer Alex Murdaugh's life sentence for allegedly killing his wife and son are on hold this morning after his conviction was overturned Wednesday. South Carolina Supreme Court reversed the conviction because the court clerk at Murdaugh's trial suggested that he was guilty. The disgraced lawyer will not be getting out of prison anytime soon though as he is still serving a 40 year federal sentence for stealing around $12 million from his clients. He's also serving a concurrent 27 year state sentence for financial crimes. That's a quick check of your headlines. Now let's get a quick check of your forecast. Weather Nation meteorologist Tracy Anthony standing by with your hometown forecast. Tracey, good morning.
Tracy Anthony
Hey, good morning. We are starting off in Jackson, Wyoming where temperatures will be warming the next couple of days. But it's been extremely breezy and fire danger has been a big concern. But what I'm looking at for Jackson, Jenna, I know you're hanging out there is this weekend, Sunday into Monday, look at the overnight temperatures dropping down into the 20s. We're talking about some fresh snow possible. So winter is not over yet, at least for some of the higher elevations. But warming things up, taking you down to Tallahassee, Florida. This From Katie on YouTube. You're going to feel those temperatures warming up over the next couple of days. We're getting into a dry period, so a mix of sun and clouds and then 90s by next week. So it's going to be hot and dry for areas of Florida. Now, Kansas City, Missouri, this is where you really need to pay attention. So Elizabeth on Getter in Kansas City, you know, the next couple of days, we do have widespread severe weather concerns across the Central Plains. Kansas City under that severe weather outlook every day through Tuesday, except for Sunday. So isolated storms Thursday, Friday, Saturday, a little more widespread, and then Monday, Tuesday. So very important to stay weather aware. Terrence, this is where that Weather Nation app on your phone will keep you updated for the weekend and even into next week. So it's really good for those severe weather updates.
Terrence Bates
Terrence all right, Tracy, thanks so much. God must be calling me to Jackson, Wyoming. I was just talking with a lawyer from Denver who also practices in Wyoming. He's headed to Jackson. And I was saying, oh, Jackson, like, you know, is that like near Jackson Hole? And he was explaining that Jackson is the city, if you will, or the county in Jackson Hole is simply the resort. Something I didn't realize. I thought Jackson, Jackson Hole is what the city was called. So I don't know.
Tracy Anthony
It's a beautiful town. Yeah, it's a great city.
Terrence Bates
I've never been. I've never been. But like I said, God is calling me to go. So maybe, maybe I'll be making my way to vacation in Jackson Hole. Thanks, Tracy. We'll talk to you tomorrow.
Tracy Anthony
Sounds good. See you then.
Terrence Bates
All right. Bye bye. Let's get you over to David now. David, sorry, I'm, I'm planning out my vacation here. Apparently, Jackson Hoi, Wyoming is now on.
David Brody
No, that's good. We do everything on the show. Just plan out a vacation. T. Bates no problem.
Terrence Bates
There you go. Why not?
David Brody
All right. We're continuing, obviously, to follow T. Bates vacation plans, but also the latest in China as President Trump continues his summit with his Chinese counterpart. Joining us now with reaction is Indiana Congressman Marlon Stutzman. Congressman, good morning. What are your initial observations of what's going on there and what can this president come back with in terms of progress moving forward with really our greatest competitor and some would say chief nemesis as well?
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah. Good morning to all of you. I've been entertained by your comments. And if I can mention on the jumping kids, which I thought was actually kind of cute, but I just thought maybe it was part of the Olympic training program. But you know what, we're going to get everybody prepared right out of the gate, you know, multitasking here. But anyway, it was cute. But I think this is one of the most important trips of President Trump's presidency. I mean, this is a big deal. And I think that, you know, we all, as Americans, first of all, should be really proud of our president. You know, a lot of Godfather type leaders say, people, you know, you got to come to me. You come see me. President Trump gets on Air Force One, takes Marco Rubio, takes a bunch of our tech CEOs, and he goes to them and is on their turf. So I think that's a strong power move on the President's part and the welcome that he got there. You know, the Chinese are showing a ton of respect, as, you know, I would describe our relationship like frenemies. You know, we. There's so many good reasons for us to have a strong relationship, but there's also a lot of work to be done with the Chinese, whether that's stealing intellectual property, whether it's human rights conditions, environmental conditions, energy conditions, that they take advantage of, currency manipulation. But I'll tell you, if you don't talk, you're not going to get problems resolved. And that's one of the things that President Trump is so good at, is he's a strong negotiator, he's a strong diplomat. And by going to China, it sends a pretty powerful message.
Terrence Bates
Congressman, from my perspective, the relationship between the United States and China is to some degree similar to that with Iran. In that. And let me kind of, kind of clear this up in that that China says one thing, but then often does another, kind of goes back on its word. Is that a concern and should that be a concern? Are my concerns realistic here?
Ryan Reynolds
Yeah, no, absolutely. I mean, you know, it's always watch actions rather than just trusting words. But I think the big thing that has caught my attention is the way that China responded to us taking Maduro out in Venezuela. There wasn't a reaction from them. Obviously, some rhetoric. Same with Iran. You know, they could have definitely engaged more in Iran because shutting the Strait of Hormuz down affects them much more than it does a lot of other countries. It affects Europe, it affects India, but a lot of oil and gas comes out of Iran to China. And so I think them taking a paused approach is a good signal I also think that China is more paper tiger than what we want to realize. You know, their one child policy is causing a problem. Their population is going to decline rapidly over the next several decades because of that. They are obviously, you know, they've got a, it's a communist government. They steal, you know, our technology. So you look at their planes, they look a lot like ours. So it's a very unique relationship. But I do think it's one that we do need to have a path that we walk on together. It's probably one of the most important relationships that we have. But we also have to hold them accountable for their actions.
Alison Hans
Congressman, we also want to get your take on President Trump's recent comments on the financial strain coming out of the conflict with Iran. President Trump spoke to reporters ahead of his journey departure for Beijing, saying he isn't considering Americans financial situation. Let's take a look. What extent are American financial situation motivating you to make a deal?
Sponsor Announcer
Not even a little bit. The only thing that matters when I'm
Neil McCabe
talking about Iran, they can't have a nuclear weapon.
Sponsor Announcer
I don't think about American financial situation. I don't think about anybody. I think about one thing. We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's all.
Alison Hans
Congressman, what do you make of these comments?
Ryan Reynolds
Well, I think he actually does considering in the broader scope of his policy decisions. I mean, you look at the big beautiful bill, I mean, it was all about the American individual or the American family's financial situation. And I think what he's saying in that, that narrative right there is that while he's making decisions about a nuclear weapon, he's thinking about American family security, security, more than just financial security. And so he is doing multiple things here at once. And as I've described multiple times that, you know, President Trump is doing a lot of cleanup on aisle five after the Biden administration. And it's a lot of different things to clean up, whether it's international policy, whether it's the spending here at home, the fraud, the waste and abuse that we're seeing in Minnesota and California. I know you know, President Trump's heart is definitely for the American people and he is going to be concerned about that. But their overall security is at top of mind for him.
David Brody
Absolutely. I mean, and oh, by the way, Americans can't have a financial situation if they're dead because of a nuclear weapon. So there's something that would be considered there. Congressman, thanks for being here. Appreciate your time.
Ryan Reynolds
Thank you. Thanks for having me this morning. You bet.
David Brody
All right. Coming up, a California gubernatorial candidate may have just nuked and we're talking about nuclear weapons may have nuked his election prospects thanks to a disastrous interview. We're going to show you what happened after the break. Don't go anywhere.

Welcome back to American Sunrise. A new health supplement is gaining attention claiming to support long term wellness at the cellular level. It's built around what's known as C15, an essential fatty acid that researchers say may play a key role in supporting cell health, metabolism and even healthy aging. Experts say this nutrient, once common in certain diets, is largely missing from modern nutrition and reintroducing it could help improve overall health markers. Joining me now to discuss more is the co founder and co CEO for Fatty 15, Dr. Stephanie Van Watson. Good morning to you. How are you doing this morning?
Tracy Anthony
Good morning, Great to be here.
Alison Hans
Oh, so good to see you. Now longevity has been a hot topic these days and in your best selling book, the longevity nutrient you share. This is a very unique story here how Navy dolphins, Navy dolphins helped unlock a secret to longevity and healthy aging. Okay, get me up to speed. How did this happen?
Tracy Anthony
Like best origin story ever for a good healthy aging discovery. So you know, the hunt for the holy grail of healthy aging is on. It is so exciting how much science has advanced to go find ways for us to be able to live longer, live healthier. But while a lot of researchers, you know, are looking at how, you know, we can like help mice, worms and flies live longer, we had this unexpected discovery while caring for, as you shared, older Navy dolphins unlock an unexpected secret to longevity.
Alison Hans
Okay, so what's, what's like a Navy dolphin? Can you explain that?
Tracy Anthony
Sorry, it's a great question. So for over 60 years, the Navy has cared for the sustained population of about over 100 bottlenose dolphins in San Diego Bay. They've helped protect our servicemen and women. They have protect our, protected our shores. They get amazingly good care. And because they live a lot longer than dolphins in the wild, we went to figure out how is it that Navy dolphins are living so long. One of the key secrets we found was this fatty acid that was present in their diet called C15 or pentadecanoic acid made this initial discovery that it helped to protect older Navy dolphins against chronic inflammation, high cholesterol, fatty liver disease, all these aging associated diseases. We get fast forward 10 years later, 150 peer reviewed studies later, and C15 has now emerged as the first essential fatty acid to be discovered in over 90 years since Omega 3.
Alison Hans
Okay, so the dolphins open you up to C15. So now we know C15 can help you with healthy aging. How does it do it?
Tracy Anthony
That is, that is so much of the work has been around it. So we know that C15 is a stable fatty acid that goes into our cell membranes. Right. Each cell membrane produces, protects our cells. Our body's made out of cells. Therefore, you know, as it strengthens and stabilizes our cell membranes against aging related breakdown, it helps across all systems. Beyond that, it even has, there have been researchers discovering it has over 36 cellular benefits that help translate to improved metabolic, immune, liver, cognitive, whole body health. This is just so exciting that we were able to bring this to the world.
Alison Hans
So when you take C15, are you immediately going to feel something different? I mean, what are you going to feel and experience and what does that timeline look like?
Alison Hahn
Right.
Tracy Anthony
You know, a lot of times, right, you have these kind of long term protective things like a vitamin that's discovered and it's kind of like your doctor says, take it and you'll just trust that you're going to feel better. The wonderful thing about C15, you know, the Navy funded us. My husband is a Navy veteran, three war veteran, I myself working with the Navy, a proud military family, to bring this pure C15 ingredient to the world as fatty 15. And when we did it, we had these delight and surprises not only of being able to help improve metabolic and long term health that you see within three to six months. So go to your doctor, get your blood test done. But surprisingly, what the dolphins couldn't tell us is that within two weeks half of our customers, within 16 weeks, 70% of our customers report feeling better. This includes better sleep, calmer mood and improved energy. So we are very excited to be able to have it. And so we have a really high retention rate because you know, people feel better and if you feel better, you keep taking it.
Alison Hans
Better sleep, better mood, more energy, hopefully better looking,
Jenny Korn
you won't need it.
Tracy Anthony
You don't need that part, you just. Yeah, but hopefully we can help with everyone's sleep.
Alison Hans
Oh, that's fabulous. Well, Dr. Stephanie Van Watson, thank you so much for being with us this morning. We appreciate it, absolute pleasure. Have a good one. Coming up, a new report is raising questions about California's prison reform policies. After claims that some death row inmates are using state issued tablets to access explicit content. Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Alison Hahn. Thanks so much for joining us this morning. We invite you to join the conversation on Getter and Rumble Time now to take the political pulse of America the Beat. Today a new report is sparking controversy over California's prison reform policies after claims that some death row inmates are using taxpayer funded tablets to watch pornography and engage in explicit communications. The investigation published by City Journal, alleges that inmates have found ways around content restrictions on digital tablets provided through California's multimillion dollar digital equity program under Governor Gavin Newsom, who knew. The report also raises concerns about policy grooming and inappropriate contact with minors, though state corrections officials defend the tablets as tightly controlled education tools that support rehabilitation and reduce violence inside prisons. Let's discuss more with David Brody and Terrence Bates. Okay, Terrence, every time I think that I California can't top itself with its insanity, something new comes along. And this one Unreal, disgusting and unreal. Your thoughts?
Terrence Bates
So let me just get this straight. You're giving criminals a tool in the name of digital equity and thinking that they're not going to try to manipulate it in order to continue their deviant behavior. Correct sense to me, David?
Alison Hans
Correct. And I want to add on the taxpayer dime. David.
Bobby Charles
Yeah,
Terrence Bates
I'll even give that. Okay, so taxpayers pay for tools for criminals. Okay, let's just take that away. For me, it comes back to you're giving criminals a tool that they potentially could use for deviant behavior and you think that they're not going to try to circumvent whatever safeguards you have in place to continue their deviant behavior. Does that make sense to you?
Neil McCabe
David?
Terrence Bates
Don't make sense to me.
David Brody
Nope. Make it make sense. And I've got nothing. It's California. So a couple of things. First of all, you know California's prison reform system. This Idea of reform. Yeah, they've reformed it. Not in a good way. I mean, there's been a lot of problems. They have many inmates getting reduced sentences, getting out early. And in terms, remember the whole Prop 47 thing out there in California where they took felony theft, they made theft, which was a felony. Now they made it a misdemeanor. If you've, if you stole under $950. Okay, so how's that working out? You go into a shop, picture shop in California and say, you know What? I'm at $949 of stolen stuff. I've got a misdemeanor. I'm good. I don't need a felon. Felony is not going to be on my record. This is what they're doing in California. This is all part of the California prison reform system.
Alison Hans
It's an absolute mess. Well, gentlemen, let's change gears now. President Trump is continuing his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping today. The issue of Taiwan, as we've been discussing, is emerging as a major flashpoint point in the discussion between the two leaders, with China's leader warning a potential conflict could occur between the two superpowers over the issue. It marks a stark contrast with President Trump's tone, who has continually praised Xi over the visit so far. Joining us now with analysis is former Assistant Deputy Secretary of State and main gubernatorial candidate Bobby Charles. Good morning, Bobby, to you.
Bobby Charles
Good morning to all of you.
Alison Hans
How you doing?
Bobby Charles
Actually, doing incredibly well up here in Maine. We are up by 36 points now on the GOP field. The primary is June 9, and we work every day. I did a huge debate out there yesterday night, and we just keep pounding away. Don't ever stop till you've gone through the tape. But we're doing incredibly well. We have started a grassroots movement here in Maine campaign with thousands and thousands of people that want to turn this place red, take accountability back, cut taxes, get the crime down, and turn this place around.
Alison Hahn
That.
Alison Hans
That's absolutely awesome. Okay, we want to talk about the campaign, but we also want to obviously talk about the big headline today. China with Taiwan. Is that the headline? That is. Do you think this is a veiled threat from Xi?
Bobby Charles
You know, I think three issues are always at the front of any discussion with, I mean, having. Having been an Assistant Secretary of state, having spent time in Taiwan, it's always going to be on the list. The second two things are really trade and a broader national security approach. And I'll just say two things. One, President Trump's books, not to mention his. His own record show that the way he goes into a negotiation is with hyperbole. It may be that Xi is learning a little bit from Trump. You know what you speak, speak boldly at the front end and you know, and see where it leads you. The other thing I'm going to say is that I think the news out of this summit at the end is going to be very positive. And my view on that is that anytime we know the tariff issue is out there front and center, we know other national security issues, support for Iran, support for Russia are out there front and center. The fact that President Trump is face to face with Xi and we know he pulls no punches, I think ends this summit without some surprise. Ends it with two superpowers in effect being able to talk to each other about trade and armaments. And I think, you know, that's always good, to be honest.
Terrence Bates
So, look, I want to take us to Bangor, Maine. I think I'm saying that correctly. Give it to me in main ish. Bangor. B A N G O R Is it Bangor, Maine?
Bobby Charles
Yeah, you'd be coming up to Bangor.
Sponsor Announcer
You would.
Bobby Charles
Yeah.
Terrence Bates
We're gonna.
Bobby Charles
Where we're gonna welcome J.D. vance up here today. I'm actually headed up there right after this interview.
Terrence Bates
Well, you. Well, you're taking me exactly where I was going to go. I was going to lay out that the vice president is going to be there in Bangor or Bangor. He of course, is going to be talking about the administration's new anti fraud initiatives with a major focus on alleged Medicaid fraud. Maine has been singled out to some degree by the administration following audits that identified more than $45 million in improper main care payments related to services for children with autism. Here was the vice president speaking on that and then we'll get your response. On the other end, states like California,
Sponsor Announcer
states like Hawaii, states like New York have completely not taken the fraud issue
Terrence Bates
seriously in the Medicaid program.
Sponsor Announcer
And so for those states that refuse
Ryan Reynolds
to get serious about fraud, we are
Sponsor Announcer
going to turn off that anti fraud money. And if we continue to find problems,
Terrence Bates
we can turn off other resources within
Sponsor Announcer
their state Medicaid programs as well.
Terrence Bates
Our goal here is not to do that.
Sponsor Announcer
We don't want to turn off any money. What we want to do is ensure that people are taking fraud seriously. We want to protect Medicaid.
Terrence Bates
All right, so Bobby, you said you're going to be leaving up for banger right after this particular interview, will you actually be meeting with the vice president and put into perspective for us how much of an issue and how much of a concern this is there in Maine.
Bobby Charles
Yeah, no idea whether I would meet him. I am going to be there present to hear him speak at the airport. He's coming in just briefly. You know, this is a huge problem. This is a major. Maine is shot through with corruption. It is a state that is one party, Democrat controlled. They have used and abused the Medicaid system, the OIG for DHS, big DHS picked up, as you reported earlier, 46 million just in the, in fraud, just in the autism program. But we're like a mini Minnesota. The numbers are proportional. But we're in a terrible position. We may have half A billion dollars, 500 million by public reporting that has been effectively stolen not just from the main taxpayer, but from the federal taxpayer. Because this Medicaid fraud is essentially a giveaway program by the Democrats to buy votes in the Somali community in all kinds of communities around the state. We've got 9,000 nonprofits. If only 5% of those 450 are involved in fraud, then you're talking about hundreds of millions of dollars in fraud. And what we see here, and I use this metaphor because it's a visual one, what we see is a lot of these Democrat affiliated groups, nonprofits, so called receiving touchdown passes out there in the end zone. And I, of course we want to prosecute them. And if we get this governorship and we get the ag, we'll do that. But I also want to prosecute the quarterback. And the quarterback is the Democrat Party in this state. The Democrat Party has been giving out large sums of money to these groups with no consequences. And what JD Is saying very plainly is the age of no consequences is over. We're talking consequences. This Governor Mills and all of her, you know, her knockoffs are all corrupt and that's why we have to go after them.
Alison Hans
Bobby Charles, thank you so much for your time today. Safe trip to Bangor. Bangor, Bangor, ya betcha. Thank you so much. You're the best.
Ryan Reynolds
Thank you guys so much.
Alison Hans
Have a great day.
Terrence Bates
Be safe in your car.
Bobby Charles
We'll be doing that, Karen.
Terrence Bates
Okay.
Alison Hans
Well, when there are supply constraints on commodities, prices surge. You saw it with fuel prices when the Strait of Hormuz was blockaded. And you know what else is a limited commodity? You heard it here, Gold. They mine it out of the ground. And when it's gone, it's gone. Governments can't just print more of it. And that's why everyone from central banks to savvy sailors are diversified with gold. If you've been thinking about it for years, but I've still never moved some of your savings into physical gold. Birch Gold Group is who I trust to help you now. Through May 29, Birch Gold is giving a first time gold buyer rebate of 1 of $10,000 on qualifying purchases now. Welcome back to American sunrise. This Sunday, May 17, thousands of Americans are expected to gather on the national mall in Washington D.C. for Rededicate 2:50, a national event centered on prayer, worship and America's upcoming 250th anniversary. Organizers say the day long event will feature scripture readings, live music, testimonies and prayer gatherings from the US Capitol to the main stage near 12. The event is designed to rededicate the nation to God while reflecting on 250 years of American history and looking ahead to the country's future. Joining me now with a special preview of the event is White House Faith Office Director Jenny Korn. Jenny, good morning. Thank you so much for being with us. Tell us more about this special gathering. It sounds very exciting.
Jenny Korn
Yes, good morning from the White House. We are so excited about this Sunday, May 17th rededicate 250. We are going to have thousands of people of faith on the National Mall to pray together, to worship together and we want everyone's invited. President Trump during the National Prayer Breakfast in February invited all of America to come and congregate on the National Mall to pray and worship together. We've got Grammy Award winner Chris Thompson, Tomlin, we've got other singers, we've got Franklin Graham, we've got think of all the most amazing faith leaders in America are going to come together and pray and we even have Secretary Hegseth and a few other dignitaries. But this is not political. This is all about prayer and rededicating the nation back to God. It's about God's hand in the founding of our nation. There's going to be storytelling, there's going to be getting to know other people next to you. So we want everyone to bring your family, your friends, your congregants. It's free. And to get all the information, you just go to rededicate250.org and we hope to see you on the mall on Sunday.
Alison Hahn
What a beautiful, beautiful event and so needed, especially in Washington D.C. you know, Jenny, this administration gets so much credit. This is the first time we've had a White House faith office ever. I think that is so cool. Tell us what it's like working with the White House Faith Faith Office behind the scenes.
Jenny Korn
Well, it is amazing. You are right. Newly created historic White House faith office. There's been faith initiatives, partnerships, community based initiatives, but there's never been a faith office right here in the West Wing as a direct report to the President working on policy. And a lot of times people ask us, well, do you just pray all day long? Now we do pray. We are in D.C. and we are in this terminal times, but we do pray. But we make sure that people of faith have a voice in their government. For far too long this federal government has been discriminating against people of faith. And so we are unearthing all of that discrimination and making sure I'm putting into place policies that protect religious freedom. And that's what we're doing. It is amazing. And as you said, it is because President Trump, Pastor Paula and I went to him two years ago and said here's this plan for this White House faith office. And unlike any politician who would say thank you for your time, I'll get back with you. He said I love it. He put his touches on it and he said we want to do this and promises made, promises kept. We're here and we're working on many, many issues like foster care and adoption, mental health care, drug abuse and substance abuse through faith based programs. Because we know faith based programs are are 80% plus successful and this president wants to partner with success.
Alison Hahn
Absolutely. Like you said, promises made, promises kept. And you guys are doing incredible work at the White House faith office. This is going to be such a great event, this rededicate to 50. You know, America really was such a Christian based, faith based country at its founding and we really do need to rededicate and get back to those values. Walk us through. You mentioned, Jenny, a couple initiatives that you guys are working on after this big event this weekend. What are some things that you're going to be focused on.
Jenny Korn
One of the biggest things we are working on right now is with HHS and Secretary Kennedy and mental health and brain health. We want to make sure people in America are getting better. And there are so many amazing programs in the faith based space. And so we have nothing to announce today, but I would love to talk to you in a couple weeks. And, and May is mental health month. And so we're working very hard on that to make sure that we're reaching as many people as possible. It's so important. And as you said, the rededication means a lot on Sunday. It's the first time it's done in 250 years. It is to the day that the Continental Congress dedicated this country to prayer, humiliation and fasting. And so on that day, we're congregating 250 years. This is not going to happen for another 200. So we want you to join us. Bring your family, your friends, rededicate250.org and just think about praying with thousands of people right here in Washington, D.C. for the President, for this country, for Americans, because we know we are the beacon
Alison Hahn
of freedom on religious liberty for all of our viewers. That website is at the bottom of your screen. Rededicate250.org Jenny, thank you so much for being with us and I can't wait to have you back and, and hear more about what you guys are up to. Thanks again.
Jenny Korn
Amazing. God bless you.

Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Alison Hans. Thanks so much for being with us this morning. It's time now for the one to Watch. And David, what are you keeping your eye on today?
David Brody
Well, I look, I'm looking at this new study, guys from the University of California, Irvine. It really is shedding light on just how deeply political divisions are impacting relationships. Look at this. Researchers found that 37% of Americans say they've lost a friend, family member, romantic partner, co worker over political differences. The study calls it a political breakup. Friendships for the most common casualty, then family relationships. The study also found sharp partisan differences. So 47% of Democrats reported experiencing a political breakup compared to 29% of Republicans. Researchers say the trend appears to have accelerated since 2016, you think as political polarization increase increasingly. Excuse me, spilled into daily life and 2016. Oh, that's right. In 2015, President Trump came gliding down the golden escalator, and he's changed American politics forever. And honestly, relationships. Not that he has changed relationships, but he's been the driving factor. T. Bates because of this. You know, I've always believed, you know, listen, yeah, there's some people that are now not talking with me anymore and stuff. Look, here's the way I see it. You know what? Find some common ground with people you disagree with. For example, I might disagree with the biggest liberal in the world, but we're both Mets fans. We're both Jet fans. We both like the same music. Bond over something you can bond over, but we're not there. We're not there.
Terrence Bates
Well, David, next time, choose not to bond over mediocrity. The Mets and the Jets.
Sponsor Announcer
That's what you brought up.
David Brody
Really?
Terrence Bates
Really. Thank you for calling it mediocrity. I wasn't supposed to go there.
David Brody
It was a worse word than mediocrity.
Terrence Bates
But. No, go ahead. Go ahead.
Alison Hans
No, no, Terrence, you go ahead.
Terrence Bates
No, I was simply going to say, you're right. And I would suspect that for most people, there's more that actually unites us and divides us. And don't just look at the surface politics. Look at the real quality of life and what you're trying to achieve and bond over those sorts of things. Go ahead.
Alison Hans
Yeah, this study doesn't surprise. I mean, I keep politics even out of the family group chat. It's really dicey out there. But yes, find something in common besides the Mets. Gentlemen, thank you so much for being here today. And thank you, of course, the audience. You've been fabulous. Lovely to be with you today. War room is up next. Go boldly now.
David Brody
See you, folks.
Terrence Bates
Good luck.

Ever wonder how to make hosting look effortless? Here's a secret. Getting ahead of the mess with new Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper. Just lightly wet the counter beforehand so the paper grips and stays in place. Then lay down the Reynolds kitchen's countertop prep paper. So drips and spills stay on the paper, not all over your kitchen counter. You can roll out dough, prep a party spread, or cook alongside family. When you're done, cleanup is as simple as lifting the paper and revealing that clean counter underneath. Effortless. You can use it for cooking and baking, prep and even crafting, especially when you need extra working space. Because when the mess is already handled, you can focus on what matters the food, the people and the moment. It may look effortless, but now you know it's Reynolds Kitchen's countertop prep paper. Take a tip from me. Wet it, set it, prep it, done. Make it easy. Make it with Reynolds Kitchens countertop prep paper available now in the Reynolds Wrap aisle in Walmart, Target, Amazon and Costco.

This episode of American Sunrise dives into current political, cultural, and policy issues, centering on the high-stakes summit between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Discussions cover the symbolism of U.S.-China relations, the security threat posed by Chinese land acquisition in America, immigration and assimilation, California’s political upheavals, controversial prison policies, and notable faith-based events. The tone remains patriotic, skeptical of progressive policies, and highly interested in the intersection of faith, policy, and American identity.

This episode takes a deep dive into the complexities of U.S.-China relations at a pivotal historical moment, American anxieties over national security (including foreign land ownership), and the perennial hot-button issues of immigration, assimilation, and urban governance. It rounds things out with faith-based reflection and skepticism toward Californian progressive policy initiatives, with frequent returns to themes of American resilience, traditional values, and a call for community. The conversational and sometimes combative tone reflects the hosts’ commitment to “honest views” and a willingness to challenge mainstream narratives.
