Ahead on American Sunrise Early Edition Cops officially do arrest and charge Nick Reiner in the stabbing deaths of his parents, Rob and Michelle. And now we learn that Nick had a long history of violence that appears to have gone unchecked. Are they telling us absolutely everything? Providence Police released a new video of the alleged shooter at Brown University, but his face is not visible. And why won't the school or the police share any descriptions of the shooter provided by the eyewitnesses? Kash Patel and the FBI say they've nabbed a number of pro Palestinian would be terrorists who were planning a series of attacks in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. Is this just more evidence that this holiday season will be a terror free for all, much like last year? Remember New Orleans in Australia, the prime minister's top priority after the terrorist attack on Jews at Bondi beach is to make sure there are even tougher laws against anyone who wants to defend themselves with a firearm. It's truly punishing the victims. And more evidence that the fix was in as memos come to light calling on the FBI to stay far away from investigating corruption of the Clinton foundation back in 2016. It's nice to have friends on the inside. American SUNRISE EARLY EDITION begins now.

Jake Novak
Jake Novak starts now. Hi, I'm Jake Novak. Welcome to this Tuesday here in American Sunrise EARLY Edition. Again we have that developing story out of Los Angeles, although in many ways it does seem like it is an open and shut case. Sadly, Nick Reiner, the police and fire officials and apparently even his siblings very much indicating that he is solely responsible for the death of his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner. There's any new developments there, I'll let you know. But that is sadly seems like kind of an open and shut case over there and an example of how no matter how rich and famous you are, I'm not even talking about politics here. Family issues can sometimes be something that you can't really solve. Really, really sad situation. And of course, drug addiction seems to have played a role there as well. But we have other fish to pry this morning, unfortunately, and some of it is really important. And we and we're not an open end shut case stuff that we need to talk about. So helping us do that right now as Tablet magazine editor at large, Lael Leibovitz and Lael, I want to take a listen to exactly what not to do in the wake of this massacre of Jews at Bondi beach in Sydney. This is exactly what not to do when people who are trying to have a public religious celebration are rendered defenseless by the laws of that country. Let's listen to the Prime Minister of Australia right here. The government is prepared to take whatever action is necessary. Included in that is the need for tougher gun laws. And this afternoon at 4:00 I will put on the agenda of the National Cabinet tougher gun laws, including limits on the number of guns that can be used or licensed by individuals. Once again blaming the guns. No mention of terror by the way, yet by this Prime Minister. No mention of Islamism. No mention of anti. He did mention anti Semitism, but no mention of going after the actual criminals who do this, including one of the shooters who they knew was a terrorist. But sure, blame it on the guns.
Lael Leibovitz
I think, Jake, that this case in Bandai beach, you know, a supreme tragedy, of course, but as we could hear right now from Prime Minister Blui's comments, is really a perfect encapsulation of the failure of every single one of the left's talking points over the last 20 years. Oh, it's the gun's fault. Oh, immigration is a net positive. Oh, we need to be very sympathetic to the quote unquote underdog because Islamophobia is, is the real problem. Turns out you have a country like Australia that obviously has very tough gun laws that let in, you know, scores and scores and scores of Muslim immigrants who knew for a fact this person, Naveen Akram, the shooter, was under investigation since night 2019. And yet here we are, a chronicle of a death foretold. All of this could have been prevented had it not been for left wing ideological lunacy.
Jake Novak
I mean, you let people in. I mean it's amazing. You have governments, especially left wing governments that are always talking about tolerance, inclusion and love. And then they import thousands upon thousands of people who have a culture of hatred who cannot really be easily integrated into another culture and they put no pressure on them to do so. It'd be one thing if they said, listen, you've got to integrate and if you don't, you know, you're not gonna make it here. They don't do that. They coddle them and then they blame the guns instead of the people that they brought in with murderous intentions. I just don't understand why. I understand why they do it because they're duplicitous and they get money out of it and they get political power out of it. But what I don't understand is why people, more people who are in the middle or aren't really politically involved necessarily don't see this for what it is. It's an invasion done for the profit and for the power motives of those who invited these folks in. It's as simple as that.
Lael Leibovitz
Jake, I'm afraid that it's even grimmer than the already very grim situation you painted because it's not just, hey, we're doing something out of some kind of duplicitous, you know, profit driven motive. I think what we have right now, it's not a security crisis, it's not a political crisis, it is truly a spiritual crisis. Many in the west, and I think Australia is a case in point, are simply losing their will to live. They're losing their purpose. They're losing the notion that there is a difference between cultures and that Western civilization is superior to all other forms of civilization, as hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years have made very, very clear. And that Western civ. Defend it, and it's part of the way of defending it is precisely, as you said, looking at people whose ideas about life are completely incompatible with our own and say, guys, we love you and respect you. Kindly stay in your own places. Kindly stay in countries where you could live out your lives according to your own culture and let us live our life according to ours. That is the simple backbone that so many in the west lack. And if we don't grow one very, very soon, that will be the end of Western civilization.
Jake Novak
Well, let's get to another part of Western civilization because I also want to observe another example of what I believe to be failed leadership. And yes, there are different levels of this, but this time it's coming from Brown University President Christina Paxson. Here she is not long after the shootings on Saturday. Actually several hours later. Watch this. D.C. when it happened and flew right back. And I'm catching up right now.
Narrator/Commercial Voice
President, with all due respect, six hours.
Jake Novak
After this shooting and you said you don't know what was going on in that classroom. How does that happen? Were they taking an exam? Were they meeting for a club? I don't know. I don't know.
Narrator/Commercial Voice
Six hours later and you're the president.
Jake Novak
And you don't know? I do not know.
Narrator/Commercial Voice
Well, that's kind of concerning.
Jake Novak
Lael. I know you think that Brown is better than a lot of the other campuses comparatively. Of course, that's a very low bar. But the fact is this is a woman who makes $3.1 million as of the last accounting. I promise you, Leo, if that had been a fundraiser, she would know exactly what Room it was in, who was there, how long it was going on and what was on the agenda. I'm sorry, but you're sending, we're sending our kids to these schools for 90 grand a year for tuition, room and board. And the leaders have absolutely no interest in protecting the students, in my opinion.
Lael Leibovitz
I'll be honest. I think in this case I'm far less concerned with Chris Paxton's behavior. I think she was, forgive me, she was on a plane, she turned right back. Doing our best to run the situation. I'm, I'm far more concerned about the sort of, you know, local police failure. Because between us, it is not the job of any university president or university, you know, security force to nab a shooter armed with, you know, semi automatic rifles in the middle, in the middle of your town. That is very much the job of the local police. The fact that we're now several days in and the police do not have a lead, do not have a suspect, do not have anything save for that grainy video, that to me is truly terrifying. And again, another reminder why we have to double down on good local security forces, why we have to bolster the police, why we have to give more and more and more resources to our law enforcement officials.
Jake Novak
Well, you know, there is a little bit of breaking news on that. There are more reports now that this was a specifically targeted shooting, that, that vice president of the College Republicans at Brown, Ella Cook, was specifically targeted by whoever the shooter is. Now, now that they know that information, you would hope that that would lead to an apprehension of the shooter soon enough. But, you know, your point is well taken about the Providence police, and I'll say this with all due sensitivity, but I'm going to say it anyway. It does not engender a lot of confidence on my part that the police chief of Providence does not seem to have great command of the English language. I don't know how that works as far as being able to recognize suspects, being able to really communicate with the public, which is essential here. This is a manhunt lael. They're trying to get everyone informed so that we know what to look for in this case. And this guy doesn't seem to really have great command over the English language. Well, here's someone who sadly does have a pretty good command of the English language. I'm talking about New York mayor elect Zoran Mamdani. And here he is in what was really a softball interview. For those of you who don't know the laws of this country, every station, local TV station, Over the air broadcast station has to put together these public affairs shows to keep their FCC licenses. Here's one of those local shows in New York. They're interviewing Zorambamdani and asking him a very clear question about why rabbis in New York City are scared to death of this guy. Check this out.
David Brody
I guess the question is whether you.
Jake Novak
Buy his argument that your failure to.
David Brody
Say Israel should exist as a Jewish state will somehow add to more anti.
Jake Novak
Semitism and more attacks on Jews.
David Brody
And I wonder if you worry about that or you think that's a specious argument.
Narrator/Commercial Voice
Well, I've found that the conversations I've had with Jewish leaders across the five boroughs have been ones that we are looking to build a relationship to deliver for this city. And just the day before I had that meeting with the New York Board of Rabbis, I was with a number of members of the Satmar community in Brooklyn, in Crown Heights and in Williamsburg as thousands of us were celebrating together. And I think it showcases a vision of this city and the positions that I've made clear on Israel and on Palestine. These are part of universal beliefs of equal rights and the necessity of it for all people everywhere.
David Brody
You've also, it's also part of your.
Jake Novak
DNA and how you grew up, you.
David Brody
Know, believing that there should be a two state solution or that there should be one area.
Narrator/Commercial Voice
Well, what I grew up believing is that every single person should be entitled to the same rights and that equality should be something enshrined in the law.
Jake Novak
Oh please. Are there equal rights in Iran? Are there equal rights in Syria? Are there equal rights in Qatar? I could just go on and on down the line. It's just. What a lie. What a ridiculous joke. And by the way, for everyone listening, that Jewish community that he said he hung out with in Williamsburg, the Satmar, they hate Israel. Okay, that's a break. Basically a small group of Jews, although they have a pretty large birth rate, who absolutely hate the state of Israel. So that doesn't count. Lael, this guy is a complete charlatan.
Lael Leibovitz
First of all, Jake, it's 7:12 in the morning here in New York and I already need a drink just because I was forced now to watch this clip. Sadly, this guy is not a charlatan. This guy is a very slick ideological operator who is very adept at building coalitions. The glue that brings together the coalition that he's bringing here in New York is first and foremost Jew hatred. Second of all, the idea that you could replace good old fashioned American law with what he calls international law, which is the idea that you should arrest your political enemies when they come for visits, or that you should, you know, abolish ICE or the police because of some kind of amorphous notion that somehow trumps the actual laws and the Constitution and the stuff we have on the books. The fact that this person takes charge of the largest city in America in just two weeks is absolutely terrifying to me as a New Yorker. It should be terrifying to every American. But here's the thing I really hope, and sadly, New York would have to be the laboratory where this reckoning happens. But I really hope that it will be yet another reminder, as we received in 2024, of Americans eventually rejecting the absolute lunacy of the progressive left, the anti American, anti semitic, anti Western ideology that Zorn Mandani so perfectly embodies?
Jake Novak
Let's hope so. Well, I'm sorry you need a drink this morning, but at least have a good one. Leah Lubowitz from Tablet magazine, thank you so much for joining us. Have a great rest of your week. Hopefully alcohol free before noon.
Lael Leibovitz
You too.
Jake Novak
Okay, coming up, Google just has to control everything, doesn't it? The company has now decided to get into the real estate listing business and that's bad news for just about everyone else in that business. But first, what was the result of that private meeting between Erica Kirk and Candace Owens? The latest on that when American Sunrise Early Edition comes right back.

One of my favorite shots this time, Statue of Liberty selfie from atop the torch of Lady Liberty. And you can see snow still on the ground here in New York. And there's people down there as well. All right. I don't know what they're doing there that early. I can't believe the statue's open this early. Maybe they're maintenance workers. Anyway, it's been cold. You know, we only had, we had snow overnight Saturday into Sunday. It has not snowed since. But it's been so cold that we haven't had much melt off. So. Again, welcome back to American Sunrise EARLY Edition. I'm Jake Novak. Thank you for joining us on this Tuesday and getting in the middle of things and commenting on the getter and rumble Chat substack x all those places. Well, as many of you know, Erica Kirk, Charlie Kirk's widow, met with Candace Owens for a few hours yesterday. And both women put out statements that I have to say were very generic at the end of that meeting. Basically both saying that they had a productive meeting. Okay, that's nice that they're gonna continue talking. Emily Finn joins us right now. And look, I think that's the right kind of statement to make as far as trying to make things at least decent between all sides here. But, Emily, I've been doing this kind of stuff for a long time. When people meet like this and without any specifics, I'm sorry to say I'm not very optimistic. I think this thing is going to go off the rails pretty soon. I just don't trust Candace Owens to not go off the rails again within the coming days.
Emily Finn
I think that's a good way to describe it, Jake going off the rails. And I don't know if you've been seeing all of the photos of Erica and Candace that have been coming out. I mean, these two were friends in the past. And the facts of the situation here is that Erica's husband died and she's burying her husband, and Candace really needs to respect her a whole lot more. So I have to give Erica a whole lot of credit for even meeting with Candace in the first place, with all of the crazy things that she's been saying about her. So good on her for actually sitting down and having a conversation. But, no, I don't see how Candace walks this back at all. Some of the claims that she was making about tp, about Charlie, were just totally absurd. And so hopefully it was, in fact, a productive meeting, like both of the women said. But I think that we are in store for, like you said, Jake going off the rails a little bit further with Candace. I know that she has a show coming out. She said that she's gonna address the meeting in her rundown. So stay tuned. We will see what both of them have to say moving forward here.
Jake Novak
Yeah. You know, and I think that the meeting was very much in the spirit of what Charlie Kirk stood for. He always met with and talked with people that he. That he disagreed with. And if they. And again, as much as what Candace Owens is doing is driving me crazy, and I find it really wrong, I can't really point to any actual specific crime that she's committed. So it's not like it's meeting with a criminal. So what can I say? I mean, but I'm just not optimistic. I'm not optimistic because I've seen this kind of stuff before, and usually what happens is there's a little bit of quiet after a meeting like this, and then things go bad. But, you know, I'm hoping for the best. You never know. Sometimes people say, hey, I was wrong about something. And it would be, by the way, if Candace Owen wants to get more attention, that would be something that would get her a lot of attention if she does a special show today saying I was wrong about all this. But, you know, contrition is just not something that people in the public eye very often realize the value of. They don't. It'd be pretty valuable if she did that.
Emily Finn
It would be very valuable. But I think she's gonna go the opposite direction. I mean, she's been doing this her entire career. And so I really, I don't know. We'll see what she has to say, but we know for sure that it's going to be attention seeking.
Jake Novak
Yeah, that's for sure. All right. Well, Emily, people should pay attention to you as you join us in the 8 to 10am hours on the big show. And we'd love to see you there. Have a great show. I bet I'll be part of it a little bit in the 9am hour. So thank you.

All right, you're about to witness history here on American Sunrise Early Edition. This is a shot of Tortola Virgin Islands, but it's the British Virgin Islands, but no longer. I hereby declare Tortola the American Virgin Islands. We are taking this over. If President Trump can call the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, I can now take this. And as we know, the British have become as cowardly and as pathetic as the French. So, Keir Starmer, see if you can stop me. I have now declared I'm planning the American flag on Tortola, the Virgin Islands. This is now our territory. Enjoy, everyone. Let's take a look at where the markets are going to begin. Today we have moderate red is what I'll call it. They're all down, but very moderately. The markets right now are, as they say, looking for new direction. Remember we got that Fed rate cut last week. That's what they were really focused on for a long time. Then they started this week with the AI jitters once again. Every once in a while investors look at AI, all those stocks and I think it's a little overpriced. I'm going to take my profits and put it somewhere else. That's what they did yesterday. We had a sell off yesterday. Not steep really, just a small downturn. And it looks like we've got that again. Gold taking a little bit of a pause, but not much silver. Also a slight pause, but look at crude oil. A 55 handle on the poor barrel cost of crude oil right now. My goodness. Now let's take a look at Bitcoin. I think Bitcoin is still struggling. Yes, still under the $90,000 mark, but up this morning after falling down about to the $85,000 level yesterday, Zillow shares took a big 8% dip lower yesterday. Why? Because Google's monopoly just isn't big enough, I guess. Google now reportedly is going to get into the listing of real estate business. Now again, I said this before and people need to understand what this exactly means. Google is a publishing monopoly. Monopoly. Do they actually come out with much content? No, but if you're not, if you don't exist on the Google search engine, you might as well not exist. I know there's some other great search engines out there, DuckDuckGo, Bing, all this kind of stuff. But sadly, Google just has almost all the market share there. And now they've decided, well, real estate listings is publishing, let's take that too. And so Zillow's in big trouble. Google needs to be broken up. Amazon needs to be broken up. And I don't say that as some kind of anti corporatist guy. I'm very pro corporate, very pro capitalist. But this is the definition of an antitrust situation we have with a lot of these companies, Google and Amazon especially. And Google is really scary simple, simply put. And they're gonna find more things to get into, you'll see. Unless somebody breaks them up. Hey, here's some good news. Have you checked the prices at your gas pump lately? The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline now is down to $2.90. I know a lot of you who are watching right now are paying a lot less than that. I know a lot of you watching are paying a lot more than that, especially in places like Connecticut and California and places like that. Here on Long island, though, I'm paying less than the national average. I'm excited about that. Remember folks, every penny that goes down for a gallon of gas in the national average is a billion dollars added to the US Economy. It's just every day it's a lot of money saved that goes to other places in the economy. It is a big, it's like a tax cut for the whole country and it's going down even more. You saw that 55 handle on the per barrel price of oil that I just showed you. Scott Bessant, our Treasury Secretary, is playing the role of what I'll call him delayed gratification Santa Claus. He's been going around the last few days saying that tax refunds that you're going to get, I guess around April or May or June for those, depending on when you file. He's saying that the average tax refund that's coming for American families next year is going to be a lot bigger. On average between 1,000 and $2,000 per family. That's a lot more than the average. Some of you will get a lot more than that. This is because of the retroactive aspects of the one big beautiful bill that was passed, remember, and signed by President Trump on July 4th of this year. So again, a lot of people will tell you, and they're right. Usually when they say, hey, if you get a big tax refund, that's actually kind of a fail on your part. That means that you lent that money to the US Government interest free for all those months and you could have been putting that money to better use elsewhere. But in this case it's different because that law was passed in the middle of the year. You couldn't really adjust to it quickly before we knew all the ramifications of it. So it's sort of a retroactive thing. So this is what I call a guilt free tax refund coming to you in the coming months. Hopefully everyone watching here will get a big, big refund. All right, does everyone remember this awful Jaguar commercial we're going to show you here now? Again, this actually aired for the first time almost exactly a year ago, but it feels like decades ago considering what it did to Jaguar. This is this weird commercial that looked like a combination of HR puffin stuff and a rave somewhere in Las Vegas. One of the things about it that was so strange that it didn't show any cars. And boy, as I've been reporting to you all throughout this year on this program, boy, did Jaguar pay for it. I think in April they sold like four cars. Some kind of crazy number in all the eu. Really, really bad. Well, the guy behind that entire rebrand and responsible for that ad running is the design chief at Jaguar Land Rover. His name is Jerry McGovern, or should I say former design chief, but no one seems to know, like George Costanza, whether or not he quit his job or got fired, we don't know. Now, there were reports that came out that Jaguar Land Rover fired Jerry McGovern last week. Jaguar Land Rover has now said, no, we didn't fire him, but they won't answer any questions about whether he's still working there. So is he fired as he quit? Did they put him in the basement to try to get him to quit? I don't know what's going on there. But I would say this. I would hope that a major iconic car company like Jaguar crashing because of this guy's rebranding and horrible commercial decisions, I would hope he would get fired. That's the whole point of the free market meritocracy or lack thereof. My goodness. I mean, this is now becoming like a Seinfeld commercial. In addition to one of the greatest debacles in car rebranding history. All right. And another EV dream has gone up in smoke, biting the dust, at least partially. Porsche had said that at 7:18 Boxster. 718 Boxster and, and Cayman models would be electric only from now on, not so much. They've now decided, you know what EV demand isn't Strong enough. We'll still make them in electric versions, but there also will be gas powered Caymans and Boxsters. Boxsters for at least the time being. Look again. The market desire for EVs at least in the United States is never going to exceed, in my opinion, 10%. It's about 7 or 8% now. And I think that's. And consider all the incentives and push to get people to buy EVs and it still couldn't even hit the. Hit that 10% mark. That's it. If you're a car company that wants to survive, you've got to tamp down the number of your EV offerings. Companies like Porsche were basically thinking about making more than half of their car is EVs. That's insane. And they're starting to figure it out. So good for them for at least waking up. Better late than never. Vehicle thefts across the country, by the way, are actually down the last couple of years. Well, that's true if we can, at least we can believe the crime statistics. We know there's lots of cities like Washington D.C. that have been lying about their crime stats. But it does seem like car thefts are down generally over the last few years. But Ford F150s are still some of the most likely vehicles to get swiped. This is still a problem across the country. Sometimes they don't even swipe the whole truck, they take just the taillights. You know the story well. Anyway, it turns out that the Ford had implemented some new anti theft devices and tricks and they've been working with local law enforcement to try to crack down on this. But there's a catch. Now I think this is really cool technology. You can get something on your phone that will kill your Ford F150 from being able to operate if somebody steals it. So even if the person who stole it has the key FOB has driven 100 miles away, you can press a button on your phone and disable the truck and that will help cops find it and everything else like that. The problem is you got to pay for it. It's about $8 a month for that extra protection. I think that Ford should be giving this away for free at least as an incentive to get more people to buy. But at least it's something. Look for more car companies to go with this. Of course there are some people who could also hack into that. As I reported a couple of weeks ago, and I can't believe the mainstream media hasn't picked this one up. Remember a couple of weeks ago, Ukrainian hackers, most likely Ukrainian hackers hacked into a system like that for Porsche and disabled all the new Porsches in Russia at once. I don't know if they've got them back on the road even because no one else has picked up the story. But you never know. Anyway, this is kind of a cool way to stop people from stealing your car, as long as no one hacks into it. Now, speaking of car thieves, one has to wonder how the heck the teen male who said he owned this Corvette. This is a Corvette. Now look closely. That Corvette is parked on train tracks, commuter train tracks in Brookline, Massachusetts. Now, the teen who says he owned that car said he was disoriented. He didn't really know where he was. He'd never been in the Boston area and he just thought that that was a legal parking spot. Really, he thought that parking on train tracks was a good idea. I'm happy to say the Corvette wasn't damaged, but commuter trains in the Brookline, Boston area were delayed for a very long time while cops had to tow that car away. Then they found out the car wasn't registered. There's no insurance on it. This is a shady story. But again, please don't park on train tracks. That's the best I can tell you right now. Massachusetts State Police are still investigating. All right, speaking of investigations, here's a $3.1 million employee who has no information at any price. Brown University President Christine Paxson. That's who I'm talking about. And she's proving her lack of worth every day. There she is. And later, more evidence that James Comey, Andrew McCabe, and just about all the establishment in D.C. was and probably still is protecting Hillary and Bill Clinton. Is it worth it? AMERICAN SUNRISE EARLY edition. We'll be right back. Welcome back to AMERICAN Sunrise EARLY edition. Are they telling us everything? Absolutely everything. Providence police released a new video of the alleged shooter at Brown University, but you can't really make them out. And why won't the school or the police share any descriptions of the shooter provided by the eyewitnesses? Cash Patel and the FBI say they've nabbed a number of pro Palestinian would be terrorists who were planning a series of attacks in Los Angeles on New Year's Eve. Is this just more evidence that this holiday season will be another terror free for all? Remember last year and that attack in New Orleans? There were a lot of attacks. Same time in Australia. The prime minister's top priority after the terrorist attack on Jews at Bondi beach is to make sure there are even tougher laws against anyone who wants to defend themselves, themselves with a firearm. Nothing about stopping immigration from crazed countries. It's punishing the victims. And more evidence that the fix was in. Memos are coming to light calling on the FBI to stay far away from investigating corruption of the Clinton foundation back in 2016. It's nice to have friends on the inside. Being a Clinton means you never have to say you're sorry. AMERICAN SUNRISE EARLY EDITION can continues now. And of course, here in American Sunrise EARLY edition, we're still following with sadly, seems to be an already closed case in the case of Rob and Michelle Reiner being murdered in their home on Sunday afternoon, does now seem like their son Nick, who's had a history of drug addiction and violence. This is something we're just finding out now, is the murderer in this case. Not only are police saying that, but apparently even his own siblings saying the same. Very, very sad story out of Los Angeles. A tragic situation and yet another reminder that money and fame does not indemnify you from the scourge of drugs. And sometimes situations that happen inside families, it's, as they say, in cases of murder, it's usually a family member or someone very close to the victim. And sadly, that is the case there. Um, let's talk about another disturbing situation here in America with Aaron Boxer. He's the CEO of Diversified Education Services. He's an expert on what goes on at some of these colleges, culturally and logistically. And I think I, Aaron, I, along with a lot of other people, sense a real, real reluctance on behalf of the administration at Brown University and the Providence Police Department to share with the public everything that needs to be shared. I understand you can't give every detail of an investigation, but we're still looking for the shooter in this case, Aaron, and they're not telling the public what I think, everything they know that could help describe who the shooter is. And I'm not alone. The former U.S. officer known as Online U.S. army Officer, known online as cynical Publius, who has got a great, by the way, Twitter X account. He put it best by saying this, one might think that to facilitate tips, the police might offer some basic description of the shooter's physical characteristics. They are, after all, there are some living eyewitnesses, one might think, Aaron, I'm sorry, I don't know if you want to call it wokeness, political correctness, but this is how they endanger the lives of the public, not only with these crazy policies of accepting murderous people into society, letting them out of jail, but then not allowing and Helping the police find the right guy. I mean, this is scary.
Aaron Boxer
It is. And thanks, Jake. In the media especially, there's always a temptation to be first rather than accurate. I get that. We've seen these multiple tragedies in the last just 24. Well, now, 48 hours with Bondi and Brown, Rob Reiner, as you were mentioning. And whenever that happens, there's what I would call a fog of war. And we want to understand the motive. And not to excuse the violence, but to prevent the next one, we need as much information about the shooter. We need to know whether this was a targeted attack, an ideological attack. Was it opportunistic? And going back to 2015, during the Boston bombing, when they released the pictures of the suspects, that's when they were actually able to make real headway. But that was not before a police officer was killed because they were silent. So I don't know why they're holding back, but something needs to change soon.
Jake Novak
Yeah. I mean, if the shooter is caught, and I still believe the shooter will be caught, despite these impairments that it looks like the police are putting in the way of the public and potentially Brown University, it'll probably all be explained there. And as I said in the last half hour, it doesn't engender a lot of confidence in my heart. When the Providence police chief keeps making these news conferences and it's clear he has trouble with the English language, it's hard to understand him. Now, I hope he's the best marksman and the best sleuth in the entire police department there, because that's gotta be the only explanation, right? I mean, I'm kidding here. It's got to be another reason why he's the police chief. But the man doesn't speak English properly, and I can't understand him, and he's trying to inform the public. That's not a good mix. Now, here's someone who does speak English pretty, pretty well, and that's Brown University Christina Paxton. And I want to make something clear. I'm not blaming her specifically for this shooting. And I understand that she was on a plane somewhere when it happened, and she turned around. Good for her for doing that. But she still. She wasn't able to answer questions about what was going on in that classroom, whether it. Was it a finals review? I think it was a review session for a final. She wasn't really able to tell us much about it, even hours later. And she's supposed to be the president, University. Look, I know that the main job of presidents, Erin, at universities is to fundraise. I get that. But there still has to be some semblance of being a leader of the community, knowing what's going on in your community or at least knowing the people who you can ask what was going on. There seems to be no interest in being a community leader among these presidents. And she makes $3.1 million a year by accident. She's actually the longest serving, continuing serving Ivy president right now because so many of the other Ivy presidents have been forced to resign in disgrace lately. Aaron, this is the culture. I mean, would you tell a parent to send your kid to this kind of a school? 90 grand a year, maybe more, for tuition, room and board. And there is no sense of community. It's just sort of like fend for yourselves.
Aaron Boxer
You know, I was, we were talking beforehand. I have a student who's going to be finding out if he got to, got into Brown early. And I was thinking about him, he might have been one of the students in that classroom. Listen, President Paxson is a politician and she spent years emphasizing openness and campus culture. You know, value based leadership. And that sounds great, but leadership is about trade offs. And when openness or consistently outweighs security and discipline and preparedness, you create these predictable vulnerabilities. And that's not hindsight, that's this foreseeable risk, whether it's Paxton or these other university presidents, when they don't pull the trigger, when they don't decide how to protect students inside their locked buildings, when they don't protect access, then security concerns, then supersede the funding. And you have to empower staff to act decisively, but you have to do that through leadership. And being wishy washy and not answering questions isn't going to make anyone feel comfortable. So when something like this happens, it's fair to ask whether safety was treated as a priority or as an inconvenience.
Jake Novak
Yeah. And also, are they admitting students who they know might have a propensity for violence? Remember when Harvard University 25, 30 years ago admitted a student who killed her own mother? I mean, this is just incredible what they're doing now. Aaron, you and I and many people like us have spent a long time in the last year or so, especially focusing on how Jewish students are not as safe on these campuses. But, you know, we're finding out now, and Columbia came out with a report just now about how they failed their Jewish students. But we're finding out just now that Ella Cook, who was one of the victims in the shooting, a devout Christian Student vice president of the College Republicans. There is now significant evidence, at least they're telling us, that she was the specific target of the shooter. Now, I hope that that leads. That information now leads to making it easier to find the actual shooter. But it isn't just the Jewish students. This is what we've been saying for a long time. If you allow students on campus who are willing to kill their fellow students or harass them or commit violence against them, it isn't going to be just the student, the Jewish students. How many times do we have to say this? And Ella Cuckoo, not only was the vice president of College Republicans and was a devout Christian, you know, there were a lot of very openly religious Jews in the College Republicans there. The president has been making a lot of statements lately and he's wearing a yarmulke every time. I mean, it's clear to me that that group in general was targeted as in addition to her, specifically.
Aaron Boxer
Right. This rhetoric has been building for years, like you have mentioned, and I understand where some of it comes from, especially here in Connecticut, home of Sandy Hook, where we just had the anniversary, when you have an extremist ideology, and I'm not talking about Islam as a religion, but radicalized extremism when it's tolerated or minimized or excused under the banner of activism. In this case, talking about anti Semitism. Right. Students, they get that degree of acceptance that opens the door. And you've seen the interviews on campus. Some of these kids don't even know what they're protesting. It's about being cool. It's about joining. The same thing happened during the George Floyd protests. I literally spoke to people who could have cared less about those causes, but they wanted to be amongst their peers. Our enemies are winning right now. We need to let the authorities crack down on our enemies. We have their borders closed. But the education technology, that is what we need to. I'm sorry, the education ideology, that's what we need to focus on right now. The problem isn't the debate. It's this selective outrage. And when universities blur that line, they confuse students about responsibility, accountability and public safety.
Jake Novak
And, you know, this has been a great win, by the way, for a number of the Southern elite universities. Vanderbilt, Duke, University of North Carolina, to some extent, I guess Emory, because a lot of students, Christian and Jewish or just conservatives, are realizing that the elite schools of the Northeast forget about having to indent, basically endure political debates and scorn. Now it's just a matter of life and death. And maybe you'll do better at a Vanderbilt. I would say Tulane. They had some incidents. They're probably better there, too. But maybe you need to think about it. If you're applying to Harvard, Yale and Princeton. Right now, maybe you want Brown and Cornell and Columbia especially, you might just want to think about Duke or Vanderbilt. Aaron Boxer, thank you so much for joining us. Have a great rest of your week.
Aaron Boxer
Thank you, Jake, Happy Hanukkah.
Jake Novak
Thank you. Third day of Hanukkah. Well, third night tonight. Coming up, what do you get when you put together James Comey, Hillary Clinton and Andrew McCabe? The answer is nothing, because Comey and McCabe will cover it up. American Sunrise Early Edition. We'll be right back with that story. Welcome back to AMERICAN Sunrise EARLY edition. That's a live look at the Empire State Building. By the way, we're almost we're getting close to that 100th anniversary for the Empire State Building. It was built in 1931. For those of you checking. So we're to going getting there. I'm excited. Hopefully it will still be standing. You never know. Zoran Momdani might tax it and call it racist or something and they might take it down. Wouldn't surprise me if he does that. I'm only half joking. Welcome back to this Tuesday. This will probably not surprise you who you're if you're watching this program, but I'm going to tell you the story anyway. We now have new evidence, thanks to our friends at Just the News and John Solomon, that the FBI was clearly told by the Obama administration back in 2016 not only not to investigate the corruption at the Clinton foundation, but not to make it even look like they were investigating corruption at the Clinton Foundation. But this is the same MO they did in 2020, for example, with things like the the Hunter Biden laptop. They don't even want people to think that there's actually a there there. Now, David, this comes on David Brody joins us now. This comes on the heels of the fact that James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, says that if Bill and Hillary Clinton, both of them don't show up to the hearing, I guess it's next month on these matters and a few other matters, that they will be found in contempt of Congress. I'm going to make a bet here, they'll never go to jail. They're never going to pay a price for anything. Sad but true.
David Brody
Yeah. Not only will they not go to jail, they're not going to show up. So. Well, I'm sorry, in reverse order, they won't show up and therefore won't go to jail. There's no doubt about it. This is another, once again, another deep state entry into as the deep state turns. I mean, I don't think there's a question, any question about it. This is what we see all the time in D.C. and you know, we always hear about Donald Trump and that doj, that horrible DOJ under Trump politicizing everything. Well, you know what, if you read into John Solomon's article, there's the politicization. I can't say that I don't like that word. I'll never use it again. Sally Yates, the former deputy ag, right, she's in that article saying, you know what, we're gonna slow walk this thing. Andrew McCabe, same thing.
Jake Novak
Yeah.
David Brody
These are called deep state actors, Jake, as you know. And that is where the devil is in the details. We talk about it a lot. So that's number. Also real quick, everybody talks about Trump going after his opponents. Okay, well how about the reverse of that? How about the Biden, or excuse me, in this case the Obama doj not going after their friends? You know, it works both ways. Let's just be clear about that, Jake.
Jake Novak
Yeah, well, you know, it's making me smile when you say friends, because here's another bit of inside dope. These people hate each other's guts. Yeah, they weren't doing it out of any love. They weren't doing it any love for one another. In fact, a big reason why Hillary Clinton used a private server was to hide what she was doing from Barack Obama. They hate each other's guts, but it just goes to show that covering each other's butts supersedes affection for one another. This is a entire industry in D.C. go start foundations, you know, get bunch of cash from a bunch of things, basically allowing that criminal activity to continue whether you love them or hate them, because everybody's in on it. I mean, this is a definition of the swamp. But don't for a second think that the Obama folks liked Hillary Clinton. I bet James Comey can't stand Hillary Clinton as he probably thinks that she's the reason for all of his problems. If she hadn't been such a crook, he wouldn't have had to tap dance around all that kind of stuff. I promise you that's what's really going on in the minds of these folks.
David Brody
Yeah, when friends are not friends. It happens all the time in D.C. and I'm glad you made that point. And I'm laughing because this morning as I was preparing for not just American Sunrise. But our hit here I had in my notes, I said I'll call them friends. And I said, no, you know what, maybe I should just say allies, allies in the cause and then I change it back to friends. No, I was right the first time or the second time or whatever. In the middle I should have said allies cuz they are allies and common cause. But they're definitely not friends.
Aaron Boxer
Jake.
Jake Novak
Yeah, I mean, you know that Obama looks down his nose at Hillary. And Hillary has hated Barack Obama since 2008, when she feels like he stole the 2008 presidential nomination from her because of course she's entitled to it.
David Brody
And just like Bernie thought Hillary stole it from him. So all of that.
Jake Novak
Yeah, these people. Yeah, lovely people. I'm glad I'm not having holiday dinners with them. All right. But I am glad that you watched American Sunrise early edition. And you need to stay for the next two hours for the big show. I'll see you tomorrow at seven.

Podcast: Real America’s Voice
Host: Jake Novak (with guests Lael Leibovitz, Emily Finn, Aaron Boxer, and David Brody)
Date: December 16, 2025
This episode of American Sunrise Early Edition delivers a strongly opinionated take on recent news and cultural events, framed by Real America’s Voice’s ethos of "real news, honest views.” The host, Jake Novak, along with a range of commentators and guests, tackles stories involving violence, immigration, higher education, crime, and political accountability. The running theme is the perceived failure of liberal institutions—be it governments, universities, or law enforcement—to safeguard American values and address threats of violence, anti-Semitism, and corruption.

45:00 Aaron Boxer:
“Being wishy washy and not answering questions isn’t going to make anyone feel comfortable.”
51:35 David Brody:
“Not only will [the Clintons] not go to jail, they're not going to show up.”

This episode gives insight into current events through a conservative, populist filter, emphasizing failures in leadership, policing, higher education, and governance. The commentary is fast-paced, dense, and peppered with cultural references, making it both accessible and rhetorically charged.
