Tracy Anthony
Hey, good morning and happy Friday as we continue to track the latest conditions here across the country. Strong and severe storms impacting portions of the south last night, including some flash flood warnings for Atlanta. Big hail coming down around portions of Birmingham. Those showers continue this morning as the low works its way through the Southeast. Another area of low pressure, though, will dive across the northern tier of the country this weekend to bring back a chance for snowfall and much colder air. So we will be watching areas from the Midwest to the Northeast. And with snow building in throughout the evening hours tonight into early Saturday, eventually, that snowfall continues to work its way east, bringing some areas that received 20 to 30 inches of snow last weekend, another couple inches of snow this weekend as the low moves through the Northeast into Sunday, the Midwest mostly Friday night into Saturday. We're going to have more showers across portions of the south as well. But the cold air is going to stay locked in across the Northeast. Chicago, 61 degrees today, but that doesn't last very long. Phoenix up to 93. In fact, some portions of Texas reach 100 degrees yesterday. That record warmth across Texas back over to California continues all the way through the weekend before temperatures start to drop a little bit going into next week. Phoenix up to 93 for your Friday and Saturday. Vegas in the mid 80s. Even Denver still in the mid and upper 60s for the next several afternoons. But the cold air does return to the northern tier of the country. Chicago, 61 today. How about 37 tomorrow? Minneapolis, 22 with that chance for snowfall moving in and continued warmth across the West. Back to you.
Brian Glenn
All right. Obviously not, Tracy, but we have Rob. And of course, thanks to that forecast, we'll see you back here on American Sunrise. And hopefully you'll get your lucky hometown forecast. We'll have delivered for you. All right. So moving on this morning top story, we're live in Corpus Christi, Texas, as early voting has already started. It's underway right now. The Democrats are turning out big. That's typical. But Republicans tend to turn out on day of voting on Election Day. So the question will they turn out on March 3rd? President Trump landing here a little bit later this afternoon backing key candidates as these primary races heat up. He stayed neutral in the Texas Senate race for now. Now for Trump, this is all about momentum. Joining me live right now is former chairman of Texas GOP Lieutenant Colonel Allen West. Good morning, sir. Thanks for coming on with us on this Friday. President Trump, no stranger to Texas, was here back in this area in 2022 for a rally. I was there. He's back now to kind of guess get Texas voters ready to turn out for the primary, but also deliver the message of energy. What's your thoughts on his message here today in Texas?
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Yeah, I think that's so important. I think that's one of the critical issues because you don't want to see Texas go the way of the Marxist leftists and go back to the green scam where we were undermining our oil and natural gas energy independence, where we could produce, consume and export that energy. And Corpus Christi is an incredible hub. There's been a lot of development and growth down there, and he is very comfortable being in Corpus Christi. And I think the other thing we have to realize is that President Trump flipped 13 of 15 border counties back in 2024. So without a doubt he has a lot of gravitas. But again, I think one of the critical things that he can stress is that March 3rd, which will be the primary election day, we're in early voting, as you said, is the 190th anniversary of Texas's independence. And I don't think that, you know, Travis and Houston and Davy Crockett and all of those Jim Bowie who gave their lives for the great state of Texas, so it could have that independence, would like to see it fall to a new group of tyrants and totalitarians, which is the progressive socialist left. And also we have an issue with Islamic jihadist in the state of Texas as well. So I think it's a lot of great points that he can make in his visit.
Brian Glenn
And of course, immigration was a key issue in the election. He's closed the border. He secured all and reversed all the Biden policies that allow these individuals to come into this country. That doesn't hurt as well as he has shown Texas that he will stand up for the border. That's a big issue that he's able to solve.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Incredible issue that he's able to solve. And one of the things he can highlight is that these blue areas within the state of Texas. These are areas that try to masquerade still as sanctuaries. I live up in Dallas county right now. I'm the chairman for the Dallas County Republican Party. And we have that issue there with the, you know, ICE not being able to cooperate with our sheriff and also with our local police and Dallas Police Department. So I don't think that we want to see Texas go backwards when it comes to enforcing illegal immigration and the law. And that's so important. We don't want to see Texas and some of our major urban population centers become Minneapolis. And so he again, he has many great points to stress. And I think that the Senate race, I believe that you'll see more people coming out in East Texas and West Texas, along the border there in South Texas, you'll see those numbers that the Democrats have put up, they pretty much so have tapped out, I would say, when it comes to Election Day.
Brian Glenn
You know, as a fellow Texan, I have heard for years that Texas is on the brink of turning a blue. It's purple, as the Democrats like to say. I see that completely different. I see that when it comes down to elections, Republicans do turn out and we do overwhelm the races here. Your thoughts on the narrative that Texas is just this close, becoming blue?
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Well, I think that the left was encouraged by that special election in state Senate district number nine up in Tarrant County, South Lake, Texas, where, you know, you had the Democrat win a district that Trump won by 21%. I don't think that person, he'll win in the general election. But when you look at the major urban population centers in Dallas, in Houston and Austin and San Antonio and El Paso, yes, it does lean blue. But I don't think you're going to be able to overtake the strength of the rest of Texas. But we do have to be concerned because that's kind of the playbook of the left to come into a strong red state and take over those major population centers. So what we have to do in those population centers, we've got to get Republicans out and a higher percentage. What I've told folks in Dallas County, I'd like to see Republicans hit a 35 to 40% turnout in this primary election. That was an incredible huge message because normally in midterm elections, you see maybe a 25 to 27% turnout in these off presidential cycle primary elections.
Brian Glenn
You've got a heated attorney general race here in Texas as well. You've got Chip Roy transitioning out of a congressional spot, hoping to be attorney general. Also, Alan Aaron Wright is another individual. Thoughts on the on that heated AG race?
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Well, the recent numbers that came out shows that it will probably go to a runoff between Maze Middleton, who is a Texas state senator out of the Galveston area, and Chip Roy, who, as you said, as you know, U.S. congressman out of the Hill country area, Austin on down to the Hill country area. But I think that also we'll probably see a runoff in the Senate race. I believe there'll be Kim Paxton against, who knows? Because we're starting to see Wesley Hunt kind of get a little bit of a boost, a little bit of a surge. And can he overtake John Cornyn, get into that second slot? Maybe he could.
Brian Glenn
Could I get your thoughts on the lack of progress of the SAVE act in the Senate? President Trump has called on multiple times for the Senate to pass the SAVE Act. It's pretty fundamentally, most people agree that, you know, showing a valid ID to vote and proof of citizenship to register to vote is pretty much no brainers. Your thoughts on right now, the SAVE act and how it's just stalled in the Senate?
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Well, it's absolutely ludicrous and it's absolutely absurd. And it goes back to the question that President Trump posed to the, to the State of the Union address. If you believe that the function of the American government is put American citizens first and not illegal immigrants. And you saw all of those Democrats pretty much. So I think John Fetterman might have been the only one that stood up that they sat down. Look, I am down here in Panama City beach, had a Wounded Warrior event last night. Guess what? I had to Show a picture ID Dallas Love Field to be able to get on the airplane. Does that mean Southwest Airlines is racist? Absolutely not. So I think that we need to have that photo ID and it really lets you know the intentions of the left. They want illegal immigrants to vote. And if you go back to 2024, 12 of the states that Kamala Harris won had no voter id. What does that tell you? So they're trying to protect that. That's their new voting block electorate. That's why they're working real hard to block ICE efforts in these blue quote, unquote, sanctuary cities and sanctuary states, which is unconstitutional.
Brian Glenn
Yeah. Alois Colonel, thank you so much for joining us this morning. God bless and keep fighting for the state of Texas. And we just encourage all of our viewers that live in Texas, get out, vote, make it heard. Thank you very much.
Tracy Anthony
Thank you.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
God bless. Take care, Brian.
Brian Glenn
All right. Thank you very much. All right. Moving forward, as the president campaigns here in Texas. His legacy and his this election season are being shaped halfway around the world. The very latest on the Iran nuclear talks. And later, the Epstein depositions continue. Hillary Clinton has testified. Now today, it's Bill's turn under oath. Two separate stories, two moments that matter. More on AMERICAN SUNRISE EARLY EDITION live from Corpus Christi, Texas, after the break. All right, welcome back. That is a live shot at the White House. Now you can see the construction cranes just off to the side. That is for the big beautiful ballroom that's under construction set to be concluded sometime in 2028. Welcome back. American Sunrise Early Edition. We're live here in Corpus Christi as a countdown to President Trump's arrival here gets underway. Good to have you with us this morning. We want to get you involved in the conversation to head over to YouTube, getter and rumble. Join us in the chats. We're here. We're live and we're listening. Let's check in with Wall street as we head towards the opening bell a little bit later this morning. A mixed day of Wall street actually. The Dow Jones edging up just 17 points, closing at 49, 499. But the Nasdaq falling 273, ending the day at 22. 878. Tech stocks pulling back slightly after the recent gains there. Investors weigh new data on shifting and momentum. So we'll take a look at that. Oil selling at $65.21 a barrel, down about a third of a percent. Natural gas, which is a big topic here, we're going to talk about today, closing at $2.82. It's its lowest level since last September. And then lastly, the 10 year treasury yield at 4.01%. That's hovering near a three month low. That is your market update which by the way, LNG gas, one of the biggest terminals in the country is not far from here. And I would imagine that President Trump is going to talk about that. But while the president campaigns here in Texas, halfway around the world, the pressure is building. The Geneva talks ended yesterday without a formal deal, but another meeting is slated for Monday, this time in Austria. That's consequential move because what happens next lands right back here into politics, the markets and more importantly into election season. Joining us now, geopolitical analyst Brandon Weickert, senior editor at 1945. Com and the author of the Shadow Iran's Quest for Supremacy. Brandon, is this the moment that prevents something much bigger from happening? Do you think these talks are progressing so that perhaps a week from now we're not in some type of kinetic exchange with Iran.
Brandon Weickert
Well, as Churchill said, jaw, jaws. Better than war.
Podcast Host
War.
Brandon Weickert
But I'm still very skeptical that these talks are real. Yesterday, that wasn't really so much as of a negotiation as it was the US Presenting a list of US And Israeli demands to the Iranians and saying, basically, take it or leave it. Um, this new next meeting, I think, will go the same way. That's gonna be set for March 2nd. March 2nd, March 3rd is an interesting window because that is the day of Purim, which is an Israeli holiday that celebrates the salvation of the Jews from a pl. The Persians to destroy the Jewish people thousands of years ago, and they still celebrate it to today. So it's very symbolic. Uh, I don't believe that that negotiation on Monday will be any more effective. I think right now, Trump is just waiting and buying time for the USS Gerald R. Ford to get into proper position. And once it is there, I think the strike window will once again be open.
Brian Glenn
Do you know exactly where the USS Ford is right now? Is it. Is it somewhere near that area?
Brandon Weickert
Yeah, it basically had to go back to Crete because of this humiliating sewage problem on the ship, which sort of, to me, is an omen. You know, just. Just don't do this, Mr. President. It's. We're not ready, but they're moving it to. Back to off the coast of Israel because the air wing for the Gerald R. Ford will probably be, yes, used to attack Iran, but more importantly, it will be used to provide defensive screen to both Israel and parts of the US Military complex that's in the region. Because there is some concern the Arabs will be either unwilling or unable to fully shoot down the Iranian missile fusillade that will be fired at US Bases in Israel once we begin dropping bombs on Iran.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, it's interesting how, you know, we're continuing the talks, but then when you look at people like Lindsey Graham who have put out aggressive language towards a strike, and then you even look in social media and you have White House personnel putting up kind of cryptic videos of B2 bombers on. On. On fighter, on aircraft carriers and things like that, that is sending the message that we know the negotiations. That's just the couple steps to the big dance. It's kind of a distraction.
Neil McCabe
Right?
Brian Glenn
So what should. As someone sits at home and they spend two minutes on social media, how do they read into this? You're hearing that we're about negotiations, but then everything else says, get ready for war.
Brandon Weickert
Well, the one thing I'll say is Trump has the uncanny ability to throw a Hail Mary that lands. So maybe we get lucky and the negotiations, there's a breakthrough. But the Iranians and the rest of the world know that we've been down this pathway before with Trump and Iran. We're where they do negotiations and then suddenly Trump opens up a bombing run with the Israelis and then the whole thing is moot. So I think that if you're sitting at home, I would just pray and hope that the Americans can pull this thing in the right direction. Because if we go into Iran, the president is not being given all the data. If we go into Iran, the likelihood that one of our carriers is irreparably damaged is very high. And that will be a very spectacular move by the Iranians. And it will be something that will likely seriously damage President Trump's legacy and probably will end any hopes for the Republican Party to stay in power beyond now. So this is really, there's no upside here to this situation. If we go in militarily.
Brian Glenn
I agree. All the amazing things that he has done in this administration would be overshadowed and his legacy would be tainted if something really awful would happen. Brandon, thank you so much. Thank you for joining us on this Friday. Have a fantastic weekend and we'll see what happens over the weekend. Things seem to develop on a week, on a weekend. Yeah. Oddly enough. See. Yeah. All right, thank you. All right, moving on from a word from our sponsor, the Birch Gold Group. And here in Corpus Christi, the countdown continues to President Trump is on his way. More from Texas and what's happening in Washington. Find out after the break. Stick around. We're live in Waterburger country here in Corpus Christi. We'll be right back, Sam. All right. Welcome back. AMERICAN sunrise, EARLY EDITION live. Look at the White House. We are on the ground here in Corpus Christi tracking President Trump, attracting the White House and all that that involved. Now, he's coming to Texas for several reasons. One is because we have a major Texas primary coming up, but also is going to talk about energy and all of the LNG gas that's in this area. Big hub for the country. Texas has got three major ports, two of which Corpus Christi here, Houston and then the Beaumont Port author port as well. Big, big ports for energy. And we want to invite you to join the conversation. We're live on Getter Rumble YouTube. Let us know your thoughts. I always love to do this wherever you're watching, take a picture of your living room, your kitchen, whatever, maybe getting the kids ready for school. Take a picture, post it up on X ryanglenntv and I will repost that. We always appreciate you joining us on that. So Texas, as we talked to Allen west previously, a lot of things are on the ballot. We've heard for years that, you know, Texas is purple, could turn blue. And historically that has not been the case. Now, you've got some major cities there that obviously skew very heavily into Democrat being a little bit of Dallas County. You've got Houston, Harris county and then you got some other Bexar county down in San Antonio area. But for the most part, Texas is predominantly a very conservative state. Now, some of the issues coming up to the last election was the open border. And President Trump has done an amazing job, not only securing the border but but reversing many of the policies that were involved with allowing these people to come into this country. And of course, ICE has done an amazing job getting those out of our country. All right. Joining us now, 1, 2, 3 is Neil McCabe Live. We got Neil. He's live from the studios there in Washington, D.C. neil, thanks for joining us, man. Big day on the as far as Hillary Clinton testifying, we kind of knew what would happen. We kind of knew what her answers would be. What's your takeaway from the first day?
Neil McCabe
You know Brian, it might have been the biggest thing to ever happen in Chappaqua, New York. It was kind of a shootout for a while. You had Hillary Clinton giving. It was testimony, almost like a deposition. It unlike a hearing on the Hill where, you know, the Democrats and the Republicans trade back and forth. Five minutes of questions, Republicans, five minutes of question Democrat. And that sort of, that ridiculous back and forth with nothing ever gets done with these kind of closed door testimonies. You have staff attorneys with the committee, the House Oversight Committee, and you have members coming in, the Republicans. Usually the Republicans will have 30 minutes, the Democrats will have 30 minutes. And that really allows you to dig down and really follow up on questions and sort of keep somebody from sort of dancing around the truth. The fireworks yesterday were good. The fireworks yesterday were Congresswoman Bobart took a picture of Hillary and gave it to the great Betty Johnson, who posted it immediately. At that point, Hillary walked out, said, this is a disgrace. You betrayed me. She was shocked that someone would pull such a stunt, but she had to go back in. And so she went back in. So, as I said, it was six hours of testimony. She said things like, hey, I didn't know what he was up to. You know, Jeffrey Epstein was a guy we knew, but, you know, who knew what he was doing. Ghislaine Maxwell was a guest at Chelsea Clinton's wedding. She said, yeah, but she wasn't really invited. She was a plus one. And so maybe whatever, you know, she also said she was asked about UFOs and other things. She said it was political theater. But, you know, this is the woman who, when she became first lady, pretty much the first thing she did when she went into the White House is she demanded the FBI files on hundreds of Republicans. And, you know, because when you go up for jobs or whatever, you're interviewed by the FBI, these files aren't supposed to be used for opposition research. But, you know, that's what she did. So she. So she had the FBI files on every prominent Republican in Washington, D.C. and so, you know, the idea that she's shocked that people want to know what she was up to, it might be looking into her. Well, listen, you take it for what it is.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, I take it for what it is. Okay, today, former President Bill Clinton, same thing. What do we learn from him? You think he spoke to Hillary last night? You think they slept in the same house together? Maybe they had a little bit of conversation. But what could we see from Bill Clinton today?
Neil McCabe
I imagine they're on speaking terms, but it's kind of Touch and go. The. I think they have, they have an arrangement, they're married, whatever. Bill Clinton has had much more direct connections to Jeffrey Epstein than Hillary, or at least has been documented. He was seen with Epstein. He was on the plane, he was in the island, he was in the hot tub. I mean, Bill Clinton, you know, kind of a wild guy, you know, and I think that's why a lot of Americans enjoyed, you know, when Bill Clinton was running for president in 92, right. George H.W. bush said, the Cold War is over. And everybody said, well, if the Cold War is over, why are we dealing with this old guy? Let's get Bill Clinton in here. He seems like he's a blast. And nobody ever said Bill Clinton didn't know how to have a good time. And so they're going to ask him about a lot of stuff. But also, you know, besides the sort of the funny business, there's also the hardcore corruption of the Clinton foundation and the way the Clintons were able to manipulate public policy while they were in office and after office. And of course, obviously, you know, Hillary was the Secretary of State. She was a US Senator, right. She was the nominee for President, United States of the Democratic Party in 2016. So there were a lot of opportunities for Hillary to sort of move, move the dial for Jeffrey Epstein and his interests. They want to dig into this. It's also interesting to me, Brian, that Jim Jordan is not necessarily involved in this. They, you know, in the past, House Oversight and Judiciary have worked together. They've boxed out Jordan because of some bad blood between the staffs, because of the way Jordan sort of went behind their back and sort of gave Hunter Biden a sweetheart deal for his testimony. And House Oversight has basically said, yeah, sorry, we don't trust you. You're not involved. This is going to be run by Oversight and James Comer, the chairman, he's running for governor of Kentucky. So there's some other dynamics too there, Brian.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, yeah, there is. We'll keep an eye on that. I would imagine as stuff gets revealed today, we'll, we'll find out about it. Thank you so much, Neil. We appreciate it. Thank you. Have a great weekend.
Neil McCabe
See you later, Brian.
Brian Glenn
All right. All right, coming up, the economy may be charging ahead, but many drivers are still reeling from the Biden years. They're owning their cars for far less than what they're worth. So what does that mean to your wallet? This is a, a historical thing that is setting up to happen. I can't wait to hear tell you all about it. As American Sunrise continues from Corpus Christi, Texas, after the break. Foreign.
American Sunrise Host
Welcome to American Sunrise EARLY edition, the show where faith, freedom and the values that built this nation take center stage.
Brian Glenn
All right. Welcome back to AMERICAN Sunrise EARLY edition. I am Brian Glenn coming to you live from the Waterburger capital of the world, Corpus Christi, Texas. We're a little bit later today, President Trump just down from me. We'll talk to some port workers there, talk about energy, talk about lng gas, talk about the Texas primary, all of that. We're tracking the stories that always matter the most to you. But first, let's go over to Terrance Bates in our Denver newsroom with the very latest headlines. Good morning. Happy Friday, Terrence.
Terrance Bates
Brian, Happy Friday. Before I get to these headlines, you've been appealing to the inner fat kid in me all morning long talking about Whataburger, But I think we need to do a public service announcement here because the first time I heard about Whataburger, I went to Texas and was looking for a W A T E R burger, only to find out that it's what a burger W H a T T a I think they call it burger. So it's what a burger, even though most people call it Whataburger. I've, I was looking for this water burger place, but it's what a burger technically, is that not correct?
Brian Glenn
Yeah, you're, you're absolutely right. Depending on where you go in Texas, that what burger gets to be a little bit more emphasized on there, depending on where you go. But you're absolutely right behind me is what burger park, I guess a baseball field there. And we were maybe next time I come down here, we'll do this show live from inside the original Whataburger. Not a bad idea.
Terrance Bates
And if and when you do that, I will have a pretty hefty order for you to send to me because the burgers are pretty good. I've had just about every burger from McDonald's to inside in and out burger to Whataburger. And Whataburger is pretty impressive.
Brian Glenn
Perhaps. Let's put a poll up on Twitter and tag Real America's Voice, what burger or in n out? What's your burger preference? Put it up there. You can tag me ryanglynn T TV as well and tag Terence Bates. All right. Let's get into the news headlines. Enough of this food talk. I'm getting hungry, though.
Terrance Bates
That makes two of us. I told you, you talked, you talked to the inner fat guy in me and he came out.
Brian Glenn
All right.
Terrance Bates
So here we Go, folks. Former President Bill Clinton is going to be deposed today in Chap Chappaqua. Excuse me, New York. All of this is part of the House Oversight Committee's investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case. Colorado Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, though, may be asked to leave her cell phone outside the room today after she posted a picture of that she took of Hillary Clinton's testimony Thursday, causing the hearing to be paused for a little while. Releasing photos during a hearing like this is against the rules. Lawmakers are hoping to learn more about the Clinton Epstein relationship during today's deposition involving the former president. And in other headlines, President Trump headed to Corpus Christi today to talk about energy and water infrastructure. That, of course, is where Brian Glenn is right now. The president will make remarks that the of Corpus Christi, which is the nation's leading exporter of liquefied natural gas. It's also one of the country's leading hubs for petroleum. Texas, by the way, is one of a handful of states that face critical midterm elections that are expected to impact the balance of power in Congress. The state's upcoming elections will have national implications. And let's bring Brian back in for this because Brian, yes, energy and some of those other issues are critical issues that the president will address. But this is also about making sure that he puts his stamp on the upcoming elections, I would imagine because these are critical elections for the balance of power in Congress. Looking forward to November?
Brian Glenn
Yeah, absolutely. He's already endorsed about a dozen Republicans here in Texas. Now, we stayed out so far from the, really the big race, the Texas Senate between Cornyn Paxton and Wesley Hunt, he stayed out of that endorsing anyone at this point. But perhaps that might change as we go after the primary. And I'm sure obviously he will back whoever that winner is. But yeah, big, big shift could happen here in the state. But I think Republicans, Terrence, will turn out on election day even though historically they don't really necessarily agree with early voting. But I think we're gonna have big numbers here.
Terrance Bates
Absolutely. It's gonna be an interesting to watch. Finally, Brian, the commander in peace, as I like to call him, may have a new war to settle. And, and that war would be between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Those two countries have engaged in what the Pakistani defense minister is calling a, quote, open war. The latest airstrikes and cross border retaliatory strikes between the neighboring countries is the worst escalation of violence since a ceasefire was agreed upon back in October. Pakistan says that it had hoped that Afghanistan would focus on the welfare of its people and regional stability after the US Withdrawal from that country. And, and the Taliban then taking control of it instead, though, he is now calling the Taliban led country a, quote, colony of India. India, of course, is Pakistan's arch rival. The two have been warring quite literally for centuries and continue to start and start fights there. Is that kind of the next hotspot, Brian? Is that your expectation that that is going to be the next hotspot that President Trump is going to have to focus on?
Brian Glenn
I think so, unfortunately, Terrence. And that does give you a dark look at just how chaotic parts of the world are right now. And in one moment do you have peace and the next moment you've got rockets flying over home. So hopefully President Trump can get a hold of those two countries and let's just put a pause on it. But yet again, I mean, another foreign policy escalation thrown into the mix here.
Terrance Bates
Absolutely, Brian. Always good to see you. And by the way, it's what a burger? Not Whataburger. What a burger.
Brian Glenn
Correct. Whataburger. Thank you, Terrence.
Terrance Bates
Thanks be.
Brian Glenn
All right. All right. I went from Dallas down here to Corpus Christi. You see it. Texas is growing. More companies, more families, more cars on the road. During the State of the Union, President Trump said the economy is roaring. Inflation is, is down, growth is up. He's right. But some families are still reeling from the Biden years. According to new figures, get this, 30% of people trading in their cars owe about $7,000 more than what it's worth. They bought when prices were high and the rates were rising. Joining us now is Nevada congressional candidate Bobby Kahn. Is this the kind of kitchen table issues that voters are thinking about as we head into election season? Bobby, I know you have a background in the automotive industry. I saw your social media post about this issue. And I would imagine that the average car payment now well into $700 plus, we could be looking at a huge automotive crash coming up soon.
Podcast Host
Absolutely. But it's Whataburger. Okay. That's what we say, not anything else. Yes. Good morning, Brian. You know, I've been in the car business since I was 19 years old. And right now the average car loan is about 28 flip. So, yes, people are talking about this because what is the one thing you have a car payment and a house payment. And the thing is like, these are repercussions from the COVID era. 2021, 2022 is what led us to here because of there was a shortage of cars, there was a shortage of chips, and there Wasn't enough cars. People overpaid and now they are stuck with those loans. They're underwater. When I say negative equity, that's what it means. So for, let's just give you an example. If the car is $10,000, their loan is $10,000. The car may be worth 7,000 in some cases. Today the car's worth $6,000. And that is what's hurting people. And so they're like, they cannot trade out of the car. Their car may be out of warranty. And they can't go get a new car because they can't get out of the other loan unless they write a check.
Brian Glenn
And dealers have a ton of inventory sitting on their lot right now. I saw a chart the other day that had different manufacturers and their models and how many units they had on the lot. And some of them had like 82% of a 2024. New car was still 2024, was still on the lots unsold.
Podcast Host
Let's take, yes, Stellantis, for example, right? They have a five month inventory now. New cars. There's a total of $206 billion worth of new car sitting on the lots now. They're scrambling for used cars because they need cheaper cars. But new cars they're stuck with because they're still trying to dump some of the older cars.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, we're setting up a situation you mentioned, Covid, because I do think at that point all of the, the manufacturing stops. So if you want to go in and buy an import, let's just say a Toyota Alexa or really any car, you were paying a premium. Yeah, you were paying five, $8,000 over sticker. So you drove off that lot with a ton of negative equity.
Podcast Host
There was guys that were paying up to $50,000 over on Hummers, if you remember that. And now those guys are now having to pay because their hummers are now $50,000. And they got a, took out a loan for $160,000 on a Hummer. So there's a lot of negative.
Brian Glenn
We got about a minute left. Good. Okay, we got about a minute left. I want to talk about your congressional run there in Las Vegas area. You are a businessman. You're trying to get back to and get Vegas back to the good old days. What are the biggest issues right now facing residents of Las Vegas?
Podcast Host
Well, we have the highest unemployment in the country, 5.5%. And the reason is a lot of the casinos have basically priced everybody out. And because they're owned by two corporations, MGM and Caesar's corporations own majority of the casinos and they're giving Las Vegas a bad name because there's independent casinos that are doing it well and they're making money. And so with the higher unemployment with MGM and everybody cutting people out, it's less money into our economy. And tourists aren't coming in because they don't want to pay $26 for a cheeseburger. They're not paying $13 for water. And it's hurting us because that's less money now into our economy. So when I, when I go out there and I say make Vegas, Vegas again, it's about, you know, bringing down the cost, bringing tourism back, giving people a reason to come here to Vegas instead of going to New York or going someplace else.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, you're getting huge crowds at your event. I see them on social media. You're very much engaging in the, in the social media approach of bringing people together. If someone's watching right now and they live in the Las Vegas area that perhaps they have a relative. What's the best website someone could go to to get more information about your campaign?
Podcast Host
It's Bobby Khan for Congress.com or they could see me on Instagram, Real Bobby Khan. I'm on every day. They can join the 23 million people a month that watch me and come to my events. I have the coolest events that any congressional candidate has ever had.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, you're definitely a Vegas style. Congressman Bobby Kahn, thanks for joining us this morning. Have a fantastic weekend. Next time I see you, I will send you a Wada Burger.
Podcast Host
Just come here and have an in and out burger.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, I don't know. I'll pass on that.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Thank you very much.
Brian Glenn
Thank you. All right.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West
Thank you.
Brian Glenn

Coming up, we're still live in Corpus Christi, Texas. We're going to head to Washington D.C. we'll check in with David Brody here on American Sunrise early editions continues after the break. Stick around. Welcome back. American Sunrise early edition. I am live in Corpus and that is a live look at the White House and you can see it's a beautiful day on tap. It Looks like the construction cranes are still out there for the big beautiful ballroom that is set to open a little bit later in 28. We're glad you're joining us today. President Trump scheduled to be not far from where I'm at right now at the Port of Corpus Christi with the port workers talking about energy, talking about LNG gas. One of the terminals here in Corpus Christi is one of the largest terminals in the world. You can just go up the coast, the Port of Houston, into the Beaumont Port Arthur Port as well. Big maritime ports here in Texas, lots of jobs, lots in state. Joining us now to talk about that and many more, David Brody live from Washington, D.C. i'll bring you in on the conversation. Now, Trump obviously is going to talk about energy. We've got it here in Texas. But he's also going to weigh in on all of the Texas primaries that were just days away.
Tracy Anthony
Yeah.
David Brody
And what's interesting is the one thing he doesn't seem like he's going to do is make any sort of endorsement. Did I get that wrong?
Terrance Bates
I don't know.
David Brody
There's so much news out there. Did I miss that? He hasn't endorsed.
Brian Glenn
Right.
David Brody
In this race? I'm pretty sure, yeah, he is.
Brian Glenn
Yeah. He has publicly said that he wants to wait in regards to the sit it race. I guess he's going to wait. And I think in a way I really wish he would be bold and back Ken Paxton, who has been, who has had President Trump's back the entire time when he was in office and of course when he was out of office. But that's just my take.
David Brody
Well, what's interesting here, Brian, is Paxton is predicting and we'll see, but Paxton is predicting victory. And you know, we could be a runoff for sure, which complicates matters even further. But Paxton could, could outright win. And I gotta tell you, you know, Cornyn's been around since, look, I know John Cornyn. I've known him a long time. But Washington has, the Republican Party has changed and there's a dinosaur element to John Cornyn. He's a good guy. He's not a bad guy. He isn't. But Paxton is where the, you know, the action is right now. And I'm surprised, I really am, that President Trump hasn't endorsed Paxton. Having said that, Trump wants to endorse a winner and this thing is still, you know, up in the air. So he's gonna stay out of it. So I think he's doing a political move, not a principled one. I'll be honest with you.
Brian Glenn
No, I think you're right. I think you're absolutely right. And Paxton has been there. He's a fighter. Can you imagine Paxton in the US Senate? If he stays Paxton, If Paxton stays Paxton. Oh, man, things will change. David, buddy, thank you so much. We'll see you back here on American Sunrise here in a couple minutes. And as for you at home, thank you for joining us. We're on the ground here. You can join my coverage here. I'll be at the rally a little bit later at 3:30, 30 this afternoon. Keep it right here on Real America's Voice. As always, goodbye and God bless. We'll see ya.
