American Sunrise EARLY edition on Real America's VOICE starts now.
A
Good morning and welcome everyone to this early edition of American sunrise. I'm Alison Hans. Joining me now is Brian Glenn, chief White House correspondent for rav. Good morning, Brian. Where are you today?
B
Good morning. Well, we went, we went from New York City to Dallas, Texas. And I'm in the studios here at Patriot Mobile, a great one of our great partners that we have here at Real America's Voice Beautiful studios. They've got an event later on tonight. We'll have a little bit more about that throughout the show. But it's great to be here in my home state of Texas. So, you know, going. Yeah, New York to tech. Here we are.
A
Well, a lot happening overnight in Minneapolis. I don't your thoughts on it. Things seem to be heating up, not slowing down.
B
No, not at all. And I'm seeing some of the reaction around the country as well. New York City protests there are calling for the hanging of Kristi Noem and, and calling, you know, calling on people to basically execute and shoot at ICE agents. This is not going away. And we talked about this yesterday. This is one of the things that we thought could happen all it took was one incident to really kick off what would be a winter version of the summer love that we saw there years ago with George Floyd. Now we have this shooting protests erupting around the country. Allison, it's going to be very interesting to watch this as we move in to this new year.
A
And I think Minneapolis may be the start, but I don't think it's going to be the end. I think that we're going to be seeing quite a bit of this across the country. But first, let's focus in on Minneapolis this morning, which is not cooling off. Last night, Governor Tim Waltz authorized the Minnesota National Guard to be staged and ready to support local and state law enforcement in protecting critical infrastructure and to maintain public safety. In Washington, President Trump calling the incident horrible, but standing by agents acting under threat. DHS is now treating the incident as part of a broader pattern, warning that attacks and threats against ICE are spreading beyond Minnesota. As we just spoke about, Democrat leaders are escalating politically. Talk of defunding ICE and impeaching DHS leadership even as federal law enforcement remains deployed. This has shifted from a shooting to a national test of authority. Who controls the streets and who enforces the law. It should also be noted that ICE agents also shot two people in an unrelated incident in Portland. So that is also going on this morning. We have this other, other incident, and it really is becoming a question of law enforcement, federal authority, calling out the National Guard. Tim Waltz, I don't understand what authority he has and where that matches up to what's going on with what President Trump is doing.
B
Yeah, and we, I look back to how these protesters react, blocking freeways. Think about Los Angeles months ago. They're block, blocking, you know, highways, things like that. They have no fear in what they're doing. And now they know that if something was to go wrong, go sideways and someone get injured on their side, they can build on that momentum to build more support for what they're doing. So it's, it's a very disturbing trend. I think that we're going to continue to see, Allison, as these protesters who are funded, by the way. And I think it's important to know we got to find out who is funding these people to go out in March. And they're taking that, that very moment right there we've all watched over and over again. And like I said, I'm no ballistics expert, I'm no police expert. We'll let them decide. But just a tragic situation.
A
Absolutely. And it's my understanding that this woman was trained. She was part of an organization that was going up against ice. So I did want to add that to the conversation.
B
That's a good point.
A
In a morning filled with uncertainty and strong emotions, we want to start with God's word, a steady voice above the noise. This verse is from Romans 8:31. It's about God's everlasting love. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Well, turning now from the good Book to a tense situation. As we've been reporting, Minneapolis remains on edge this morning. And joining us now with reaction from Minneapolis is David Zier, host of Breaking Point here on rav. David, good morning to you.
D
Good morning, Allison and Brian. How are you today? It's about 20 degrees here in the Twin Cities. And we will be on the ground once again today, yesterday, following Scott Bessant from event to event talking about the new golden age of the Trump economy here and then with high schoolers yesterday talking to them about their future and how to be a responsibility responsible financially. But he's also investigating fraud here as the acting IRS commissioner now and the Treasury Department into Somali fraud. And we were on the ground last night near the shooting site and it was relatively calm because it was freezing and it was rain turning into ice. No, no pun intended there. But yeah. So today things will probably heat up. It's Friday. It's drier conditions. And we expect a lot of stuff on the ground to break here. Organizations like individual Twin Cities describing itself as a grassroots volunteer organization protesting ice, the indivisible project which did the no king Soros funded, $8 million went to them. So many organizations here. And I have a further breakdown of others here, including cair, the Council for American Islamic Relations and the Racial Justice Network. We expect things to heat up today.
A
David, my question is, when you're looking at the crowds that are going out and protesting, and I know you just, you just got on the ground there, but are these professional protesters or I mean, what are you seeing even in the video? Because you have a lot of experience in this. You've seen the protests before. What are you seeing?
D
So last night we were in the neighborhood right over on Portland Avenue between 33rd and 34th Streets, and the residents were out, the neighbors were out. It was very peaceful last night. There was about 200 people by fires and garbage cans, a lot of signs, you know, with pejoratives against ice. But, you know, everybody was very respectful last night. I engaged them in about 15 minutes across the conversation just to Kind of get into the mindset, you know, these people hate Trump and they hate ice. They don't want any rule of law here. But these were neighborhood people and a lot of them were immigrants, Somali and other, and they just don't like our government, you know, and they're very upset about the shooting and you know, their perspective is that ICE was completely at fault. And you know, the. By the way the officer's name was doxxed, right. I think Jonathan Ross, who was previously injured with 33 stitches and two different cuts he got when being dragged by a sexual predator. So this guy is a veteran, 10 years on the force and you know, doxxing is always the problem and it's a big problem. And people are there last night like why do they wear masks? I'm like, well, to protect them and their families because of what the left does. But this is the same people today that will be out downtown at the federal building and other which are the no kings people and also, you know, protesting in defense of Maduro and they're all related here. But again, last night was peaceful. I sent up some footage to the network of last night, my interviews and the individual they had. Now Tim Walsh is calling for a moment of silence here at 11am throughout the city. City. But we expect tensions to flare. It's the weekend, but it's very cold.
B
Yeah, David, I said that the other day, that the weather is going to play a big part in this. And how many people turn out now? Brian, let's go. Turn attention to the White House. The White House is weighing in. President Trump has made it clear he believes this was a self defense situation even as the investigation and protest continue. Now big picture on this. What message is administration sending right now to ICE agents on the ground and those testing the federal authority?
D
Is that to me, Brian, I'm just.
B
Because you know, President Trump supports the actions. It was self defense. Are you hearing that from the people? Do they, do they necessarily agree with that?
D
No, 100% they don't agree with that down here. Now the video shows other, even when I presented them with facts last night that this guy was clipped when the car was moving and he took action. Being in that situation before, probably didn't want it to happen again. Maybe looking out for the other officer as well, you know, and this will unfold and I guess at some point the investigation will yield which the FBI took over. Waltz is unhappy about that. But yeah, the people don't, don't think that it was a justified shooting down here.
A
Oh, David, Zier, thank you so much for getting up early, early with us and please stay safe. And of course, we'll be looking, you know, if there will be any charges, you know, in this case.
B
Yeah.
A
Thanks so much, David, and we'll see you in the next hour. Coming up, some Americans have gone to Ukraine. Unbelievable. To take up the fight against Russia's aggression. The Kremlin's response, any foreign troops sent to Ukraine will be legitimate targets. Oh, no. Is Putin about to go all in? Find out as AMERICAN SUNRISE continues. Stay tuned. We are looking at a beautiful shot of New York City. There is the Empire State Building. Welcome back to AMERICAN SUNRISE EARLY edition. I'm Alison Hans and let's bring back Brian Glenn. Hello, Brian.
B
Yes, great.
A
Good morning to be here.
B
Yep. Good morning.
A
Okay. We are talking Minneapolis this morning. So much going on overnight and now it seems to be somewhat of a test case. What started as a federal ICE operation has evolved in into a national question about authority, enforcement and how far the left is willing to go to stop it. Protests are spreading, federal agents remain in place and Democrat leaders are calling it overreach even as the White House signals there will be no retreat. The answer everyone wants to know, did ICE overreach or was it self defense? Okay, Brian, your thoughts?
B
Well, I, you know, I've looked at this video more times than I want to analyzed. The speed of the vehicle when he was turning, the actual position of the officer that he was when he shot. Did he fall down at any point, did that vehicle push him down? These are things that we can all watch. I'm going to say in the heat of the moment, of course, I can't if I'm that officer and you've gone through a traumatic experience before that, which that will probably take you to act upon what he the reason why he did this time, I'm going to say that he probably felt it was self defense. But you're going to have a legal team that might argue differently. I'm glad I'm not on that legal team. I'm glad I'm not in that court. The sad part is someone lost a life and was it was the force necessary in that situation. So, you know, that's something that I guess we'll learn a little bit later. But there you go.
A
Okay. Well, let's bring in Bobby Charles, former assistant secretary of state and also gubernatorial candidate in Maine. Good morning, Bobby. How you doing?
E
I'm doing great on a busy day.
A
It sure is. Okay. Your thoughts on what we're discussing here?
E
Well, part of My life history going way back was being a clerk on the US Court of Appeals. And one of the things that I will tell you is you always have to, to look at the law and what are you doing? You're applying to the law, to the facts of this case. The law that is relevant in this case. Everybody can go look it up if they want is Graham versus Connor. It's a 1989 case. It's also codified in the, in the, in the manuals that are used by law enforcement, including ice. And it says that if this officer had an objectively reasonable assessment that the individual posed a threat to him, that he was in a position to be able to use self defense. The. There's actually, actually other language saying that if something is used as a weapon and you can argue the car was. But I think the reality here is you're never going to know until the case itself. I mean that we know that the bullet came through the front windshield. It's hard to see from that video where he was standing, but. Exactly. But whether he was actually hit, whether he was knocked down, what happened there. But at the end of the day, it's for a jury to decide whether or not it was reasonable for him to react the way he did. I'm going to back the camera out a little bit for a moment and give you what I'll call a concentric circle assessment. I believe that the responsibility for this engagement isn't just on these officers. I think it's on. I think it's on Governor Waltz. I think in the state of Maine, where we've had similar kinds of sad, you know, illegal aliens everywhere here, which we never had before, it's on Governor Mills. We're in an environment where governors are acting recklessly and they're putting people at risk. And at the end of the day, when you elevate the defense of illegal aliens, for which there are due process ways to get rid of them, and we should be doing that every single day. That's what ICE is doing. There's only 6,000 ICE officers out there to manage 438 million persons in the United States. These folks have been put in a terrible situation. And the governors who elevate illegal aliens over the citizens and the ICE personnel are really being both reckless and complicit, I think even in this death.
A
So Bobby, if you were a governor, what would you do in this case?
E
I would be, oh boy, thank you. What a great opening. I would immediately be wire brushing these illegal aliens out of here. I would do A surge of both and DEA into the state of Maine. We have just an unbelievable number for our little infrastructure. We have a very poor infrastructure in this state. We're not well prepared for the onslaught of illegal aliens we have here. We have more than 7,000 kids in our schools that can't speak English. The infrastructure is weighed way down. We know that illegal aliens commit three times the amount of crime that a citizen commits. I mean, that's data on the books. We also know that they're highly tied to drug trafficking. We had 8 to 10,000 deaths in recent years from overdoses in this state per year. Look, the next governor Maine, and I expect to be that person, is going to put up a temporary immigration court, run them through here just like a conveyor belt, get all these fake asylum clients out of here, deport them and prosecute them. And at the end of the day, that's what you should be enabling as a governor. You should be saying, thank you ice, thank you President Trump, thank you dea, thank you for being here. Please cooperate with my state police, with my local law enforcement so that we can clean this place up. That is not what Mills is doing in the state of Maine. That is not what any of these Democrats want to do. It's not what Waltz is doing. So you have to be responsible and you have to protect your citizens, not flip it on its head and go after your citizens and put them at risk and put ICE at risk in order to protect illegal aliens. Makes no sense at all.
A
Well, Bobby Charles, you're making a lot of sense this morning. We appreciate you. Bobby from Maine, thank you so much for being here this morning. Well, coming up, we are heading west to Los Angeles where Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is on his arsenal, of course, Freedom Tour. We've got your exclusive ticket next as American Sunrise continues. Welcome back to this early edition of American Sunrise. I'm Alison Hahns. Good morning. All right, let's bring back my co host Brian Glenn. Hey there, Brian.
F
Thank you.
B
Thank you, Alison. I can have about three or four cups of that tea about right now it's good. I love it. All right. Secretary of War Pete Hecseth is in Los Angeles today visiting with the official defense industry leaders. Now Headset is continuing the nationwide Arsenal of Freedom tour, a call to action to revitalize America's manufacturing might and re energize the nation's workforce. Our very own Benny Ray Harmony is joining us now to talk about she's been with Headset in California. She joins us live to talk about that. First of all, thank you for getting up extremely early because you and I both are based on east coast time zones. So now doing the west coast, saying thank you for that, but kind of set the scene for us. What is what has it been like traveling with the Secretary of War?
G
BRIAN no, it's been fantastic. You know, this Arsenal of Freedom tour, this is something that Hegseth, he had a lot of passion for when he got into office and when it came to rebuilding that American manufacturing and this defense industrial base, he speaks about this all the time, you know, but Brian, you speak about what is it like here right now? And you know, with all the tensions so high overseas and with foreign affairs and stuff, everyone seems to be just in very good spirit and very hopeful for the future of American manufacturing and American defense, you know, as a whole. Yesterday we visited divergent technologies, which they create and 3D print a lot of the parts of missiles that people don't even know exist. And today we'll be visiting a couple space companies that help shoot satellites up in the air, just like the ones that were used in Venezuela, you know, monitoring from all aspects. SECRETARY of Warheads that he just wants to ensure that America can compete on all the different sectors. BRIAN not just land, not just water, and not just space, but all of them.
A
BENNY so where were all this, where was all this manufacturing taking place before?
G
You know, ALLISON that's a very, very good question. And so a lot of they were a lot of the manufacturing companies that we visited yesterday, they were all saying that they were getting a lot of their well, not necessarily the ones we are visiting. The ones we are visiting are these new defense contractors that the Trump administration has done. But like you mentioned in the former administrations, it's cheaper to produce overseas, or at least it has been until this point. And these smaller companies, which Hegset, the secretary and Department of War as a whole, they want to prioritize and allow these smaller family ran companies to compete on these higher levels. And I think that is how they intend to bring back that manufacturing from overseas, from places like China. But, but a lot of the reporters here were asking those questions yesterday. These foreign parts and pieces of our missiles and stuff like that. How amazing is it to have a missile that is literally made in America?
A
I think that is so cool. And I guess the question is how quickly can these companies get ramped up?
G
Yeah, so that was one of the biggest things yesterday. Secretary Warhead said. He spoke about it. And we also spoke to a couple under secretaries on the plane, which I can talk to you guys about. And, and, and they said, you know, these companies know that America has to produce at a high demand. These companies know what we expect and if they cannot reach that, we will give these contracts to another company that can produce. And he said that if people cannot produce to their level, there will be consequences.
A
Well, Brian, I'll let you jump in here because I know you understand these schedules with the various departments, so.
B
Yeah, I know, I know. Benny, Benny has been moving and she will continue to move from location, location.
F
So.
B
But what is on the schedule today for headset?
G
Yeah, Brian. Well, we are about to start very early. It is currently for almost. It's 430 here in California. And here in about an hour, we are heading to do PT with the troops. Yes, you heard that right. That is why I am in my workout attire. So we'll kick off the day with that Secretary of War and then we'll just be traveling to two more locations, two manufacturing and one space. And then we will be back en route to D.C. and then they'll kick off the next leg of this arsenal of freedom tour here shortly.
A
Oh, no, Benny. I mean, I did say I was going to start exercising in the new year, but this is like a whole different level. What does this entail? That's, that's what I want to know. I know, I know Brian works out every morning.
B
It's, it's push up, pull ups, it's burpees, it's run your mile, maybe a swimming. But here's the thing. You know, I've been on the ground with, with Secretary War as well, Benny, and you can see the admiration and respect that troops have for him. They really do. They love this guy. And, and you're, and we got the video on your screen right now. You're going to witness some very special events and some situations of how he really has brought the passion to serve our country back.
A
That is just so cool. And where is this taken from, Brian?
G
I, I'm really.
A
Yeah, Benny, Benny.
G
No, I'm really glad you brought that up because you Know that, that passion when we were, when we were at these companies yesterday, the standing ovations that the secretary would get. You know, you hear so much on the mainstream media. You hear so much all over the place. How hated he is and how much everybody doesn't like him. Every single employee in Divergent yesterday was clapping, screaming. They're so excited to finally have a leader that cares and that wants to, wants them to have a job and knows that that job is needed. But no, that this, we are going actually going to be heading to ucla. I just told Jonah behind the camera that is where this will be taking place. So like I said, this will be happening here shortly. Just, just here in a few.
A
And how long does this tour go on for?
G
You know, Alison, that's a very good question. So they just kicked it off with the shipbuilding tour. The shipbuilding stop that was in Norfolk, or was it Virginia Beach, Virginia? And this, I believe this is going to be a whole 2026 things. They, they have huge plans. We were speaking to a lot of the press wranglers yesterday and they are fired up about this tour. They are nowhere near ending. And I think their goal is to hit as many places in the United States as they can to speak to the troops and to speak to these companies and places, even like New Mexico who, who do a lot of the testing, a lot of where the rockets are tested from and stuff like that. So we can expect the secretary to be on the move 20, 26. And Brian, this goes back to the midterms. This goes back to the push the Trump administration is doing right now to show their initiatives, to show what they're doing so that we can, we can get this win.
B
Okay, Benny, last question, very random and I don't know if you know the answer to this. What's the price of gas right now in Beverly Hills? Just random, very curious because in here, in Dallas, I saw gas, wait for it, 195 last night when I flew in. But what's the price of gas there in Beverly Hills?
A
No, wow.
G
It's about. So I saw when we were driving in Yesterday, it's about 275, I believe.
B
No way.
G
You know what, I'm totally gonn right now. Production. Listen, Brian, Production just told me that in my ear. Okay, no way.
B
It's probably like $7 or $5.
G
I'm not sure, Brian. But yes, we'll say five.
A
We'll, we'll go with five.
G
But I'm gonna get you a confirmation on that. Brian, whenever we, whenever we start moving.
B
Oh, I thought I'd have some fun with that. It's so expensive out there and used to live not too far from there and it's, it's ridiculous. I don't see a, I don't see how anybody survives.
A
Unbelievable. Well, not 198 but I think we're like 350 here in West Palm. So, you know.
B
Yeah. Benny, thank you so much. I appreciate it.
A
Thanks. Have a great day. Okay. Still ahead, RFK Jr. Is flipping the food pyramid 180 degrees. How American are reacting to the new upside down guidelines. When American Sunrise Early Edition returns.
B
Welcome to American Sunrise Early Edition, the show where faith, freedom and the values that built this nation take center stage.
A
Welcome back to American Sunrise Early Edition. I'm Alison Hans and let's bring back my co host Brian Glenn. Okay, Brian, how you doing there?
B
You know, I'm just processing all these stories and I've always liked to say, you know, it's what the first week basically of a news cycle and we've got enough content for the next month.
A
I know, craziness. Tell us what the President has on the White House schedule today.
B
Well, he's got some, some more briefings with his staff. We've got some policy discussions as well. And, and of course, you know, he's been monitoring all the situation that's happening in, in Minnesota. So we'll stay on on top of what comes develops from that. His schedule is the schedule. But as we all know as things develop, it can also open up another oval discussion for the press. And so the press is always on standby there in D.C. okay, thank you, Brian.
A
Well, the Trump administration has just unveiled brand new federal dietary guidelines that flip the food pyramid upside down. At a press briefing this week, RFK Jr revealed the new visual graphic pushing protein and real food to the top, ending the war on saturated fats and declaring war on added sugars and ultra processed junk. This historic reset of US nutrition policy is designed to make Americans healthier, support our farmers, transform school meals and federal food programs, and fight chronic disease with common sense patriotic eating habits for discussion. Let's welcome in RAV contributor Emily Finn to the show. Okay, Emily, we caught each other in the hallway yesterday and we actually were talking about this because I, I think this is a long time coming. I know that I have always felt that it was upside down. I've been a, oh, I was a chubby kid and a lifelong dieter. So I do know the Atkins diet works with meat, butter, eggs, all that stuff. I want your thoughts on the matter?
H
Yeah, I think it's great. You know, a lot of people have been having fun with this on social media especially. You know, I think there was a South park clip that's going a little bit viral about, you know, kind of just inverting it, flipping it upside down. But it just makes perfect sense. You know, the things that are natural, the things that are real, vegetables and fruits, dairies, meats. You know, the things that you can, that you don't have to go to the store and pick up a, you know, a bag of chips. Right. And you look at all these ingredients on the back and you're like, what even is this? It's a bunch of chemicals. And so I think it's great that this administration is kind of has. Has a renewed focus on health in America, and this is something that was a long time coming to invert that food pyramid. Allison.
A
Absolutely. Brian.
B
I agree. This is a long time coming. I don't think, at the end of the day, putting these standards in schools makes a difference. When these kids get out of school, they go pick up a bag of chips and open up a soda and they consume that. And, of course, all that goes out the window. I think being active is probably the best thing you can do, is just move your body and stay away from sugar.
A
But there's, you know, I think that there's so much junk out there right now that's setting the standard and setting the story or the narrative that healthy foods, real foods, some kids don't even know what real food is. I mean, I know that when I was growing up, it was kind of like, I don't know, Doritos, that was like the big forbidden snack. But if you're, like, looking over the past 20 years and you go down that snack aisle and one processed food after another, it's extraordinary how things have expanded over the years for profit.
H
Absolutely. And even if you go down the rabbit hole of seed oils and how unhealthy those can be too, it depends on what you're actually cooking the food in as well. It's crazy. So I think it's good, like I said, that this administration has a renewed focus on health that, like, this has been a long time coming. We should have been focused on, you know, having stuff that comes from the ground or from animals. I think it's pretty simple when you look at it that way.
E
Alison.
A
Absolutely. Well, Emily, thanks so much for coming in this morning. We appreciate you.
H
Thank you for having me.
B
Thanks, Emily.
A
Well, President Trump is calling the recent fatal shooting of A Minneapolis woman after an altercation with ice, quote, self defense against a violent attack. Trump is blasting the radical left for endangering law enforcement. The leftist mayor in Minneapolis and liberal officials scream chaos and demand ICE leave. But patriots all over America say this shows that the administration is cracking down on illegal immigration, defending communities, and they will not let crime and lawlessness win. Let's bring in Congressman Randy Fine for more. Good morning, Congressman. Thank you so much for being here.
F
Good morning. Thanks for having me.
A
Of course. How would you say President Trump is handling the unrest so far?
F
Well, I think like everything else, he's dead to rights. He's on and his message is correct. What happened in Minneapolis shows what happens when the left gets out of control. They are attempting to defy lawfully passed, lawfully budgeted and lawfully implemented orders to get illegal immigrants out of this country. And nowhere is that needed more than Minneapolis, where we have seen the Somali pirates have left Africa and come to the United States and are ripping us off. So what happened with this woman in the street is the result of her trying to hit an ICE agent with her car. So, you know, the advice is this, stay out of the way, let law enforcement do their jobs, and America will be better for it.
B
Yeah, Congressman, I agree. Obviously, get the hell out of the way. All these people standing in front of freeways, in front of officers, I have no idea why they do that. But you what's interesting, and I said this a couple months ago, why would people from Somalia, comes from one of the warmest climates on Earth, go to one of the coldest climates that we have in the States if it wasn't financially benefiting them? So could we potentially look at other communities that have these large gatherings of not only Somalians, but we might have some other African countries and maybe look in to see if there's some fraud there and within that community?
F
Well, I have a better idea. I have a bill that would cut off all immigrants from all forms of welfare. So if you want to come to America for freedom and opportunity, that's a discussion that we can have. A lot of Americans don't have an issue with the farm worker or the housekeeper who may be here legally, who just wants a job. Some do. But that's a debate worth having. But the debate we shouldn't be having is whether foreigners should be able to come to our country and then sign up for free stuff. Every dollar we're spending on this is a dollar that we are borrowing from our children and grandchildren. It is immoral. It needs to Stop. We need to cut off the gravy train and we need to send them all home.
A
And, Congressman, one other thing. We had the vice president come out yesterday and talk about having a, for all intents and purposes, like a fraud czar across the country. What do you think of that?
F
Well, I think that's a great idea, but I think we should eliminate the ability to engage in fraud. If foreigners, whether they're legal or illegal, cannot get welfare, then they can't rip us off. But I also think we need to take a hard look at this. Instead of asking blue states to administer federal programs where fraud is the goal, not a bug, maybe the federal government should stop letting them do that. And so I think this is a real discussion for that we need to have about sending money to states where that they can then just rip us off. I think what we could do is send a fixed amount per person or something like that to each state and say, look, you spend it how you want, but we are not going to let blue states rip off red states by giving illegal immigrants the red carpet treatment.
B
Yeah, I agree. All right, Congressman, we have yet another government shutdown looming. Do you believe or think it will be averted, or are we barreling straight into another shutdown?
F
You know, based on what happened yesterday, I think we're probably not going to have it. So to give your viewers a sense of things, you have to have 12 appropriation bills to run the government. When we reopen the government, we passed the first three. So 25% of the government was funded yesterday. The House overwhelmingly passed the next three. It was bipartisan. There were only 30 or 40 people who voted against it. And I would presume that means the Senate will do the same. That means six of the 12 will be passed next week. We're going to do the next three and the week after the final three. So if we continue on this path, the government will be funded. But even if it. Even if we don't get all 12, it'll be a much smaller shutdown. It won't be the entire government. So hard to know. But yesterday would give you a sense that the government probably will get everything funded by the end of the month.
A
Okay. And I don't know how those bills are siloed out, but I think a lot of eyes are on health care right now. So where do we stand on doing anything on that issue?
D
Sure.
F
And by the way, that's true. We may not get all 12 done, but it won't be a complete shutdown. Look, we need to solve Health care. Democrats have no interest in solving the health care problem. They want to lie to Americans like they do with most things. They want to borrow money from our kids and grandkids to make it appear that health care is less expensive than it actually is. That is a lie. That is not a solution. What Republicans want to do is actually come up with actual policy changes that will bring down health care costs for actual Americans. And let me give you one example. We need to bring back catastrophic coverage. When you have auto insurance, you don't. It doesn't cover your gas, it doesn't cover your oil, it doesn't cover your tires. It covers if you get hit by a car. Health insurance should be no different. If I want to cover my flu shot and my doctor's visits, let me do that. But I want insurance in case I get cancer or I get hit by a bus. Well, that's what we need to do. That will solve the problem for 80 to 90% of Americans. And you're going to see Republicans pushing solutions like that over the next few months.
A
Well, Congressman, it's a new year, and the countdown to November's midterm elections is on. Any predictions at this point?
F
Well, I think we need to continue to talk about all the great work that we've done. You know, President Trump's working family tax cut is going to give people record tax refunds. When those come out in the next few months, I think we're setting the stage for lower housing and lower health care costs, and we just need to continue to do things. We need to point out that Democrats cause these problems. Republicans are interested in solving them. Democrats are fighting for illegal immigrants. Republicans are actually working for Americans. And I think if we stay laser focused on that message, we're going to have a great November.
B
Yeah, agree. I did notice yesterday if they voted for the ACA tax credits to go, if I'm not mistaken, three years ago, is that correct?
F
The House passed it with a few Republican votes, but the Senate has previously voted for this and they couldn't get to 60 votes. So the fact that the House passed it, I think is more performative than it is anything else.
B
Gotcha, Gotcha. Thank you.
A
Okay. And as far as we're talking, you know, just going back to the midterms, I think something that we were discussing yesterday is kind of the time crunch that we are under. You know, they're a year out. There are a lot of things that haven't been done. And there really is concern within the Republican Party that we could lose the House, how quickly can we move? What needs to be done to move faster, essentially?
F
Well, we need to keep passing what we're doing and we need to keep working. But what I think we need to do is we need to get our voters as fired up as their voters are. Saw this in my special election. Democratic voters are angry because they're losing, so they'll walk on broken glass in order to vote where a lot of Republican voters are happy because President Trump is in charge and he's doing a great job. We need to make sure our side understands what is at stake. And that's why I'm so focused on this eliminating welfare for immigrants bill, because we need to get our voters angry at the idea that Democrats believe they should pay more for groceries and gas so foreigners can get free stuff. If we get our voters as fired up as theirs, we're going to do just fine in November.
A
Well, Congressman Randy Fine, thank you so much for joining us this morning. We appreciate it.
F
Thanks for having me. Anytime.
A
Of course. Still ahead, what does David Brody have up his sleeve for the 8am edition of American Sunrise? Find out. We'll have that for you in just two minutes. We'll be right back.
D
That.
A
Welcome back to AMERICAN Sunrise EARLY edition. We are looking at a gorgeous shot of Manala Pan. I cannot believe this video, this live shot. It looks like a postcard. It's absolutely, oh, it's the Ritz Carlton. The old, okay, the old Ritz Carlton. It's the. Oh, spa now. Oh, my gosh. That is absolutely gorgeous. I'm Alison Hans. Thanks so much for joining us. Let's bring back my co host Brian Glenn. And joining us, American Sunrise host David Brody. Good morning, David.
C
Good morning. Can I just say when I saw that shot, I was like, okay, that's not northern New Jersey where I grew up. I can confirm that.
A
Not at all. You know, David, I was just thinking, okay, we're really going far from that gorgeous shot of Manalapan, but something that we really didn't touch upon on the show today was what's going on in Iran. So much happening. And is that something that you're going to touch upon or take a look at during the next two hours big time?
C
As a matter of fact, Cliff May from the foundation for the Defense of Democracies is gonna be on. And Cliff is really good on this. I mean, he's really good not just on Iran, but on Venezuela. But he's gonna be talking quite a bit about Iran. Let's be honest, guys. I mean, hello, the regime probably about to fall. Somehow, some way, you know, they have those Iranian citizen patrols that go all around. They're kind of like bred into the. Did I say bred into the community? But, like, there's stealth into the community, if you will, in all different cities. And the minute those Iranian citizen patrols turn on the regime, which is what they're doing. Yeah, that's gonna be game, set, match for the Ayatollah. So we're gonna dissect that with Cliff May for sure.
B
Guys, it's incredible when you take a look at all the countries that we're talking about right now. We got Venezuela, we've got Iran, we've got Ukraine, Russia, we have Greenland. This is like a geography course in the fifth grade as far as what's going on. How do you see. David, if we're sitting a year from now, how do you think the world looks?
C
That's a great question. It's gonna look different, that's for sure, because of the Donroe Doctrine, Brian, as we've been talking about. I mean, this is the Monroe Doctrine on steroids. I don't think there's any question about that. And can we just say the quiet part out loud? Marco Rubio is around President Trump a lot. And Marco Rubio has been wanting to reshape Latin America for, like, I don't know, ever since he was seven years old watching the Dolphin games down in South Florida.
D
Okay.
C
So bottom line is, you know, he believes, Rubio believes and has convinced Trump that Cuba's gonna fall. And I think that's probably true. I think next time, for a year from now, we could see, I'm not gonna say a free and fair election in Cuba. I'm not necessarily suggesting that, but I think there'll be some sort of transitional process in Cuba. I don't think there's any question about that. They rely on the Venezuelan oil, so you've got that. And I think. As for Greenland, I mean, we know that Marco Rubio is meeting with the Denmark officials next week. So at some point, I think that's going to happen. And what does that mean exactly? What is the. That I believe it'll be some sort of transactional process, whether it be actual price tag to say, hey, we're going to buy Greenland. I'm not sure if that's going to happen, but I do think there's going to be an increased military installation situation. That's. I like to say that installation situation. I like to rhyme things. But the installation situation there in Greenland next year, at this point, we'll see. I don't know. That's my crystal ball. I don't know. I got it at the dollar store. My crystal ball.
A
We got to up that well, David, thank you so much. Have a great show. We will. Yes.
C
Can I just say, Brian Glenn, rocking the glasses. I just want to say, very Mad Men, very 1954. I like it.
B
I know. I can't see six feet in front of me. I have to have it for the teleprompter.
F
Hey, Brian.
B
But thank you.
C
Right back at you. Right back at you.
A

The show's tone mirrors right-leaning cable news—urgent, opinionated, unapologetically combative towards progressive leadership, and relentlessly supportive of law enforcement and Trump-era policies. The hosts lean into faith messaging ("God's word, a steady voice above the noise"), patriotic rhetoric, and focus on "real America," blending news with advocacy, commentary, and energetic banter.
This American Sunrise Early Edition episode provides a rapid-fire, candid overview of the top news stories reflecting the intersection of law enforcement, immigration, and American political identity in early 2026. From the Minneapolis ICE incident and shifting food policies to efforts at revitalizing manufacturing and domestic political strategy, the episode blends field reporting, legal and policy insight, and a distinctly conservative worldview, setting the tone for a heated midterm year.
