Senate Majority Leader John Thune made the decision to keep the Senate in session all weekend. And something else helped put a deal in place that will probably end the government shutdown within hours. This morning I'll explain what really made the change. Now that will be music to the ears of everyone who suffered through more than 2,000 flight cancellations yesterday alone. The Democrats finally gave in a bit on the shutdown battle as the pilots unions were getting louder and louder with their criticism of their party alone. Nigeria's government is now scrambling to avoid a military strike through threatened by President Trump himself. Thousands of Christians have been killed there by Islamic militants and most of the world, including the Pope, has remained silent. While the Supreme Court is considering the fate of the Trump tariffs. President Trump is promising 2,000 bucks per citizen in tax refunds from the tariff revenues. Could that persuade the justices or might that just tick them off? And could 50 year mortgages be the answer for getting more Americans, especially young Americans, into home ownership? President Trump wants America to give it a shot. American Sunrise EARLY EDITION starts now. Welcome to American SUNRISE EARLY edition, the show where faith, freedom and the values that built this nation take center stage. Your good deeds and bad deeds, that's how we're going to judge you. Join host Jake Nova as he breaks down the stories that matter. We will be letting the public know regularly what we have found. American Sunrise EARLY EDITION with your host Jake Novak starts now. Welcome to this Monday we're off and running here on American Sunrise EARLY edition. I'm Jake Novak. Thank you so much for joining us. We are on the precipice of the government reopening. The government shut down, really probably just a few hours left to go. And look, you guys know me I'll always give it to you straight. If you think I'm wrong, you can tell me in the Getter chat, the Rumble Chat substack X. You know that I'll listen to it. But I'm going to give it to you straight right now for the real reason why this government shutdown is about to end. Let's be honest with everyone right now, and this is something you won't hear directly, probably on any other news program or even online. The Democrats in the Senate couldn't care less about all the government workers who got laid off or didn't get a paycheck. They couldn't care less. Even less did they care about the millions of Americans who didn't get their food stamps. What happened was this weekend they personally and their friends and their families and their donors were personally inconvenienced for the first time because of all of those flight cancellations. The Trump team should take note. The next time the Democrats want to shut down the government, start with that first. Start with the things that personally inconvenience those senators, those Congress people personally. If they're willing to deal with that, then fine. But of course, they weren't, not even two days worth of it. And they immediately caved. Eight Democrat senators who hadn't been voting with the Republicans at all to end the shutdown finally came over the aisle. Joining us right now is intellisit. Take CEO Jason Dusso. Jason, looks like the shutdown is over. Do you think that my assessment that the personal pain that some of those senators felt is what happened? They didn't like all those flight cancellations. Their kiddies couldn't get back from fall break or their friends couldn't get back from wherever they were going. And that's what ended. This has got nothing to do with any of their policies or any of their grandiose statements. Well, you could certainly be right on that one, Jake. I'm just glad they finally broke this filibuster this morning. It's, it's ridiculous. They do got to spend a lot less time on TV making each other look bad and sit down and make deals. I mean, that's what they're elected for. They're supposed to sit down and make compromises and work for the American people. So I'm just glad that it's passed and I'd like to see the House get in and get this across the line. Yeah. Now, Jason, the Democrats are really going. The shutdown was part of the strategy, but there's an overall strategy that goes in even long It's a longer game than even the shutdown was, and that is to try to really talk down and even harm the economy. Now, the last time you joined me, you gave the US Economy a C plus, but it was a gentleman's C plus, not a Harvard C plus. The C plus passing grade at Harvard, if you don't get an A plus, you know, it's potential, you have to call the mental health care unit at Harvard. But you gave the economy a gentleman C plus. Again, I tend to agree with you. I'm more of a B guy because I think there's more good than bad going on in the economy right now. I'm definitely worried about a couple of things like real estate. But before we get into some of the specifics of the economy, are you still at the C plus level or do you think things got better or worse since we last spoke? Yeah, I'm still the C. I was actually thinking about that this morning as I was getting ready to come on with you to see if you were going to hold me to that. Yeah, I think it's C. I appreciate you moving towards a B. And certainly we need to get through the shutdown. You know, it's not only the government's not working, people are getting paid, our airlines are shutting down, but we're also not getting the economics numbers right. We need to see the job numbers. So I'm going to delay that until we get back up and running and we can look a little bit more at some of the facts and where we're at. I'm definitely bullish in the next year. So, yeah, I'm going to stick up my C plus for now. Well, President Trump coming up with some new ideas, at least from a politician or at least a president to talk about the economy. So I want to get into these granular things with you because this, to me is one of the unique things about President Trump. Look, you know, when you get a regular Republican or a regular Democrat elected, they always go back to the same policies they've always talked about for 100 years almost. And love them or hate them, this guy comes up with new things. Maybe not new ideas in the whole general world of the economic or foreign policy world, but new ideas that we haven't heard from top elected leaders. So we heard this weekend President Trump wants to give people the option of a 50 year mortgage. Now, a lot of people were freaking out, saying, oh my goodness, this will be debt for a lifetime and all that kind of stuff, which made me laugh because I don't care how long your mortgage is. It's not going to extend your lifespan, folks. And of course most people move out of their homes in America much faster than that. Doesn't matter whether they have a 3,000, 15 or 50 year mortgage. People are moving every 10 years or so, sometimes less. I think the average is still about four years that Americans move. Most of those people aren't necessarily homeowners, but the idea is to spread the payments out so that it can lower the cost. No, it doesn't solve all the serious permanent problems in the housing market. For example, the fact that we still don't have enough supply and there are still too many regulations jacking prices up. But I like the idea. I mean, listen, I don't want people to be stuck with mortgages forever. But they'll sell and the banks will make money on volume. Right. They may not make as much money on a 50 year mortgage that they would on a 30 or 15, but maybe they'll get 10 more buyers coming through the door every month. Yeah, I agree with you. I love it. Actually, you know, common sense isn't very common when it comes to politicians, but it is with people like real estate developers and businessmen. Right. Really what Americans want, I think what everybody wants is a safe home to raise their family. And any thing that the government can do to help that is a really good idea. And you know, let's face it, home prices are higher, inflation is, you know, it's not at a bad place. We're around 3% in America. It's nice and steady. But you know, it's. Life has been a little tougher out there for sure for these younger families. And I think anything that puts them into a home where they can raise a family is a great thing. Yeah, I mean if one of my daughters wanted to do this when they're old enough in a couple of years to do something like this, I would sit them down and say, look, just understand that if you get a 50 year mortgage and then you sell the house, you'll have a lot less equity out of it. Even if the house goes up in price, you won't make as much money you want. You might want to go if you can qualify for a shorter mortgage or you might want to pay more every month into the principal just so you get more of that profit when you sell the house. But otherwise, if this is what gets you into a house as opposed to renting forever, you should absolutely look, look to that. Now let's get to a stickier issue and that's the Tariffs. Now, just as right now as we speak, Jason, the Supreme Court is considering whether or not President Trump has the authority to impose all the tariffs that he has imposed. And maybe the President is trying to put a little bit more pressure on the court by promising over the weekend reminding people that he wants to give everyone, every taxpayer a $2,000 tariff dividend based on all the revenues we're getting from the tariffs. Now, I happen to think that's a great pitch to the American people as far as voting is concerned, but I don't know if that's a great pitch while the justices are considering this. This might tick them off a little bit, possibly. What do you think? Well, I mean, you know, Trump will speak his mind and he believes it's the right thing. The problem with the whole tariff piece is that if the Supreme Court brings this down, he's just going to find another way to do it. Right. So, you know, I, I'm not a legal scholar, so I'm not sure what the justice is, how they're going to come away from this. I really hope that they go with Trump on this one. I'd hate to see the American government have to write back those checks to these other governments. There's a huge opportunity to provide a stimulus to the hard working Americans. You know, we're so used to the money flowing in one direction through taxes, it would be nice to get it back for a change. And he's talking about sending this to everyone. Not just the people at the top and not just the people at the bottom, but everybody. And that's what stimulates economies. And again, he's going to find another way around this if they don't vote his way. So I'm hopeful that they vote his way on the tariffs. When he first started bringing out tariffs, I wasn't sure how this was going to work. I was concerned about inflation going up and prices going up. Really had the disaster never happened. In fact, the opposite's happened. We're in a position where we can start writing Americans checks, which is something that I love. I want more of my money in my pocket than being wasted in the government. Personally, I don't know how you feel about that. So glad you made that. Yeah, no, I'm glad you made that last point because the tariffs have absolutely caused some economic effects, good and bad. But the doomsday sayers about the tariffs were wrong. Now, most of them haven't had the guts or the decency to say, hey, the tariffs are still hurting here and there, but they're Nowhere near as bad as I said, sorry, they don't do that. Exactly. And that's really frustrating to me. But that is absolutely the case. The tariffs have not caused the pain that was predicted. And again, there has been some change of some people who have profited from the, from the tariffs. And of course, he wants to spread that around a little bit more, but we just don't have honesty in our government right now. But one of the things I think that people need to understand about the tariffs is that the market sometimes aren't our best indicator about what the real economy is. But believe me, we would have seen a sell off starting in April that stayed on. Now, there was a sell off in April, but that turned out to be not about the tariffs. That turned out to be about the AI buyers remorse, which, by the way, is coming back into the markets now. That wasn't about the tariffs. And of course, I think the markets are going to start recovering today anyway. You know, people, the Democrats, Jason, are just really, really trying to make everyone believe that the economy is in the dumpster. And whether you think it's C plus or B minus, it's not quite in the dumpster, is it? And that's something that the American people need to know. Yeah, it's very resilient. You also have to look at the tariffs. Not only did they bring a bunch of money back into the country, but look at the deals that Donald Trump has been able to negotiate based on these tariffs. They've been fantastic for the country. And again, it's thinking outside of the box, not think like a regular politician where you spend most of your time just trying to save your job, raise money and make the other party look bad, he's really used them to a huge benefit to the, to the US And I, I hope for the best. Yeah. And it's just, again, we have so much going on this morning. And, you know, whether you want to say, oh, Trump was right about everything, again, most of American people, even those who voted for President Trump, aren't necessarily interested in what you're just talking, what you're just talking about scoring political points. They're just worried about making things better for the country. And there are so many people in the middle of this country who have been hurt by our trade policies for decades, who are getting a little bit of help right now, some of them more than others. And I get that. But honestly, this is someone who's fighting for a different type of policy. And I used to think that if you ask 10Americans, nine and a half of them would say, I want something different no matter what side of the aisle they're on. Suddenly Trump does it and they get brainwashed. Half of them get brainwashed into thinking, no, it was great the time. You know, all these policies we had before with our $40 trillion debt and the end of our manufacturing and wars all over the world, those are all great. I mean, that's literally the line they want us to swallow. Jason, do so. Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for not being cut off by the shutdown and joining us this morning. We'll see you pretty soon. Thank you. Nice to see you again. All right, coming up, comedian Nikki Glaser bombs on snl. No, she doesn't need to be canceled, but can we ask what she was thinking? Criticism is not cancellation, folks. And that's what's going on. I'm going to talk about that with Emily Finn in just a minute. Time for a sofa upgrade. That's a live look at the White House this morning. Nice breeze there in Washington D.C. i have to admit I'm puzzled as to why the flags are at half staff right now. Those of you on the getter and Rumble Chat X substack, let me know. Sorry, I don't know the reason for that and I would like to know so that we give the proper honors to the those who have fallen. Welcome back. I'm Jake Nova and listen, I actually think Nikki Glaser is an okay comedian. I don't think she's the greatest, but there's a lot of understandable anger over her opening monologue for SNL Saturday night. Here's one reason why. Listen to this small part of it. Every time you go to a women's restroom, a public women's restroom, and you sit in the stall, there's always a poster on the back of the stall that's asking you if you're being trafficked. Women, we have these, right? Yes, yes. They're in every stall. They're in every world language. I mean, English is really tiny and it's like you wish. But it English is really tiny because it's you wish. She wants to say that white women will never be trafficked. Emily Finn joins us now. Listen, Emily, I don't think we should cancel Nikki Glaser over this. But I have to make one quick point to you about this, which is one of the things just annoys me about her comedy look. She's a very attractive woman. She dresses very sexy at all of her standup specials and things like that. She's literally trafficking herself and her attractiveness. I would say she's like a B plus comedian. But when she comes out there in that outfit, she becomes like a minus A and everybody knows it. And she has the right to do that. No, I'm not saying we should cancel her, but the fact that she's making fun of this, I actually think it's a little bit of projection. That's my theory. What do you think? That's an interesting theory, Jake. Okay, first of all, I have to say she's a beautiful woman. She dresses amazingly. I love her sense of fashion. Look at the sparkles. She has a little bit of a rock and roll in her fashion style. So I really like her. I think she's absolutely hilarious. Look As a woman, this is a reality. Right. We do see these posters at the back of the stalls, and it's a problem. This is not okay. Trafficking is a problem. Violence against women, that's another thing that you see oftentimes in the back of stalls. If someone is abusing you, here is a hotline, and here is a number that you can call. In my opinion, it's women protecting women, women helping women. Look, this woman is a comedian. Did she maybe take that joke a little bit too far? Sure. But this is what she does. She tries to, I don't know, be provocative with her words in order to inspire people to look at her comedy. And I guess, Jake, your theory is she tries to do that with her fashion choices as well, and that's okay. Listen, that's okay, I guess. You know, I think. I think. I think she's a B comedian, and that's not bad. Seriously. Honestly, I could. There's worse out there, believe me, especially with some of these comics who are so politically nutty. All right, Emily, let's talk about an entertainer that you like. But I want to turn this into almost like a business segment, because I know you really like this Youngblood guy, and I have a theory on him, too, because he got some Grammy nominations on Friday. One of them was for the fact that they did a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, and he did a cover of one of those. He's got one of the Grammys for that. Now, I think this is really smart. Here's a very young act. A lot of people don't know him, very alternative. And he does something that connects him with older folks, even older than I am, who are fans of Ozzy Osbourne. This was a good business move. I don't know who his agent is, whose record producer is. But this is smart, repackaging older songs. We love that stuff, I'm telling you. And I think. I think that's what's going on here. Okay, I'm with you on this theory. I think there's a lot of that going on. But I will say I have been a Young blood fan since 2021, when 21st century liability first came out. I mean, this guy has been so rock and roll. He is the last true rock star. He embodies Elvis. He embodies Jim Morrison. I mean, it's insane. Ozzy Osbourne's soul literally lives within him. And watching that performance of Changes at Back to to the Beginning, I was almost there. I had to miss it. It was my grandfather's 100th birthday party. So I had to pick family first. But I was almost there to see that performance. And I encourage all of our viewers, if you haven't had a chance to see it, you will understand why he was nominated for a Grammy. It is so heartfelt. You can tell the respect that he had for Ozzy, the respect that. The legacy that he had on metal music, on rock and roll. It is. It is so beautiful. And I can't wait to see if he actually does indeed win the Grammy for this. Yeah. Now, for those of you who are looking at this guy and wondering, and I hope you don't do this, because I'm sad when people do this, but I understand. I realize it happens, people looking into politics and stuff like that. He's kind of all over the place politically. But one of the things I really appreciated was he really spoke up for one of the dissidents in Iran who was executed not that long ago. So I like that about him. Some of his other stuff, not so much. But you know what? If I only listen to entertainers or watched actors or singers who I agree with 100% politically, I would have a very short list of entertainers. Look, this. This guy is a rock star through and through. I don't even want and know too much about his politics because I think it would ruin it for me. I bet they're all bollocks. It's all bollocks. The real fans will know what I'm saying with that. I want to explain to him why the NRA is so important for the second amendment here in America. But that's a story for another day. He's a rock star. I love Youngblood, and I really, really hope he wins this Grammy. All right, so we had a little bit of a head start on our business segment because I think this was a really good. He's a talented guy, but somebody really showed him how to connect with a larger audience by doing an older cover. That's very smart to do. Anyway, Emily Finn, thank you for joining us. You can see her in the 8 to 10am hour on the big show. He's got more songs with Steven Tyler and Aerosmith coming out soon, so stay tuned. We may have to do another Young Blood segment soon. Jake. Yeah. Listen, this is a good business move. I'm sorry. It's not just creative. It's also a smart business move. And that's what you got to do to be a success. All right. Welcome back to American Sunrise Early Edition. If someone on the chat has told us why the flags are at half staff, I missed it because we got a lot of comments. I do read as much as I can and I'll get backtrack over it. We were guessing maybe with the controller, maybe it's because of Paul Taglivu, the former NFL commissioner who passed away over the weekend. You know, President Trump has all those connections to the NFL and he showed up at the NFL game last night or yesterday afternoon in Maryland, the Lions versus the commanders. I keep saying the hate saying the word commanders. They're the Redskins. Anyway, maybe that has something to do with it. But anyway, if you know the answer, please tell me. And I'm sorry if I missed it. Also, oh, it's for Dick Cheney. Okay. So Dick, though that's very gracious of the president, considering how nasty Dick Cheney was to President Trump that they're flying the flag at half staff. He is the former vice president, United States. So I get that. Well, that's very gracious of the president. I'm sure that there would have been a big controversy if he didn't do. Okay. So Dick Cheney, that's why the flags are at half staff. Let's take a look at where the markets are begin today and they're not doing anything half staff. They're looking really strong. And of course, you know the reason why. Looks like the government shutdown as we were reporting at the top of the show will end within hours today. The markets like that, especially the Nasdaq. Look at that 1.4% gain on the Nasdaq to start. Dow Jones also looking nice. We had a down week in the markets last week. Not terribly down because they recovered at certain points during the week. But this looks like this will erase last week's losses right off the bat. Crude oil, though, look at that. Still below $60 a barrel. And you should be seeing again, continuing falling prices at the gas pump, even in places like where I live on Long island, where we usually pay well over the national average. We're actually under the national average here, at least where I live on Long island, which is nice. Now let's take a look at Bitcoin because it's also been recovering over the last couple of days. Yeah, it's at 106. It's still well off that 125,000 mark. Someone just sold some, so now we're below 106, but you get the point. But it's coming back. You know, it's almost been touching below that $100,000 mark lately. And it looks like it's getting some traction now. Above that. Okay. Now, one of the key reasons why health care costs are so high in the US Is because buyers and sellers are separated by lots of middlemen and an ocean of red tape. What it really costs for certain medical procedures is something that most of us who get them never really even find out, let alone get a chance to negotiate. And most importantly, shop around. President Trump, I Talked about the 50 year mortgage idea he had in the early part of the show. I also talked about that idea about giving $2,000 to all of us from the tariffs. The other economic plan that he floated over the weekend was the idea of giving the ACA subsidies, those Obamacare subsidies that go to the insurance companies, instead of giving it to them, giving it to the actual people as a way for us to shop around with that extra money that we have and giving us as a consumer, more of a discerning, basically power over where we go with our money. Now, there still will be a million middlemen. There still will be a lot of hospitals, by the way, still haven't complied with Trump's first term order for them to publish their prices. A lot of them haven't complied with that, by the way. But again, the reason why things get really expensive is because those of us who really need the services don't actually pay for it directly. When you throw middlemen in there, it gets really dicey. Think of this as like sort of like a school voucher. Instead of giving money to a public school system, when they give money to families and they can decide to send their kid to a private school or maybe spend that extra money on a tutor while they send them to Public school, something like that. This is kind of like a school vouchers idea, but for health care. And it takes away from the insurance companies. Obamacare made the insurance companies even richer by making everybody use their product. Imagine that. Anyway, this is an interesting idea and I hope it gets some more traction. Now, maybe you saw the movie Gattaca. Great movie, by the way, with Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman. Or maybe you've read other sci fi stories about something just like this. But this is not sci fi, folks. A number of billionaires are now devoting serious money and time to genetic editing technology in hopes of creating children who look a certain way, can be smarter, and may even be immune to disease. What could go wrong? I think a million things could go wrong. One of the people doing this is Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong from the cryptocurrency world. There he is over there. This scares the heck out of me and I think it should scare the heck out of a lot of people. First of all, we don't know where this is going to go. The actual children who are being created might end up with some kind of other snafu that happens from the genetic editing. And maybe when they were trying to make supermen and super women, they end up making kids who end up end up mutating badly. That's one problem that we don't know for sure. This is not something that we actually experiment on live human beings. I'm not a fan of that. And second of all, again, if you saw the movie Gattaca, there's also going to be the social aspect of this. If billionaires start manufacturing super men and women children, you know what's going to happen. It'll just be another level of the class war in Western society. Those of us who are normally born and born naturally are going to be, you know, it's going to happen. We're going to be classified below the super edited children and then you're going to get a whole other mess with that. This is something that really I would like to see stopped, but I know it's not easy. Billionaires are going to do what they're going to do with their money, but this is something I wish they would think twice about in the first place. This is a little scary, okay? I was waiting for this to happen and it seemed like all these stories of big tech companies working to get their own nuclear power sources was going on and on without any pushback. But sure enough, there are some folks now starting to ask questions. Just like it's 1979. Back when nuclear power was nowhere near as safe and as sophisticated as it is now. Anyway, I'm seeing a bunch of stories in the mainstream news media worried about things like nuclear waste and worrying about nuclear power being safe. It's okay to worry about those things, but it's also important to educate yourself. First of all, nuclear waste is much less of it. There's much less of it generated by nuclear reactors than there used to be. That technology has been improved and the nuclear waste that they still make actually now is being used in some of these modular nuclear reactors. In other words, there's a lot less of it because they're reusing some of it for safer nuclear energy. And for those of you remembering Three Mile island and all those other disasters, we are much, much more advanced with nuclear power than we were back then. Don't let the mainstream media and the people who are Luddites and are enemies of America who don't want us to build nuclear energy, they're not interested in safety, but they're interested in keeping America down. They want us weak. And if we don't go nuclear, we will be weak. Simple as that. Trying to preempt the lies you're going to be hearing soon. Okay, ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. There he is, a 4.6 billion dollar pay package even as the company is downsizing. Oh, and by the way, the stock price of rivian is down 92% from five years ago today. I have no problem, and I've said it on this program, I have no problem with CEOs of companies getting a big chunk of the profits they've made for their shareholders. But this is a stock that's down, As I said, 92% from five years ago today. And this is a company that is cutting back on their products. This is a company that I'm not so sure is going to exist in a couple of years. This feels less like a pay package and more like a let's just empty out the till before the shop closes down. That's what that feels, feels like. All right. Now I have a quick update on that GM dealership in Michigan I told you about last week definitely was the first national news program to tell you about this because this is a national trend. This GM dealership in LaFontaine, it's called LaFontaine Dealership Dealership in St. Clair, Michigan. They were caught selling used cars as new and they had their entire license suspended. They couldn't open up for days. Well, they are open up again because they've agreed to pay a fine. This is probably one of those deals where they agree to pay a fine but they don't get punished any further in a legal way. But you got to watch this. There's technology that is available right now to roll back odometers on cars and you know that the dealers are going to be tempted to do this. Luckily, there's also technology that can tell you the actual real mileage. So look that up on, on, on your Internet, on your DuckDuckGo or Bing or whatever you use before you buy a car. I want to stay in Michigan for a moment because don't you hate it when those huge 18 wheel trucks pass you on the left? Aren't they supposed to go slower than the rest of us? Well, anyway, Michigan is considering making it illegal for those trucks to even be in the far left lane at all. Now they won't be alone. Florida, Virginia and Illinois already restrict semi trucks to the middle and the right of the freeways. Look, I understand truckers. I'm not trying to make things harder for you and sometimes you got to go a little bit faster. But I've been on highways that have been covered in snow and I've been in the right lane and the truckers were still tailgating me. I was going the speed limit and they're, and they're just too aggressive. It's a little scary. These guys should not be speeding on the highways. It's just too dangerous if they do that. I'm sorry if I sound like an old bitty, but you know what I'm talking about in Florida and Virginia, they know what they're doing. And if Michigan goes this way, I won't be upset about it. Coming up, President Trump just shocks just about everybody as he vows to use military power to stop the slaughter of innocent Christians in Nigeria. Will it happen? Here are this morning's top stories. It's almost over. Senate Majority Leader John Thune made the right decision to keep the Senate inside session all weekend. Also, the flights getting canceled all over the place started to bother the senators themselves. And so now the government shutdown should end within hours. Nigeria's government is now scrambling to avoid a military strike threatened by President Trump himself. Thousands of Christians have been killed there by Islamic militants and yet most of the world has remained silent, including Pope Leo, while the Supreme Court is considering the fate of the Trump tariffs. President Trump is promising 2,000 bucks per citizen in tax refunds from the tariff revenues. Could that persuade some of the justices? Or it might actually tick them off. And could 50 year mortgages be the answer for getting more Americans, especially young Americans, into home ownership? President Trump wants America to give it a shot. American Sunrise EARLY EDITION continues now. Welcome back to AMERICAN SUNRISE EARLY Edition. I'm Jake Novak. Welcome to especially to those of you on the getter, the Rumble chats, people who are commenting also on Substack and on X and so many other platforms, including the people on the Getter chat who don't like me. That's okay. I can take it. Believe me, I've heard it before. It's all right. You don't have to like me. Although some of you, I'm doubting you're, I don't know if you're real, real America, voiceless viewers. That's what I'm thinking. I don't really think you, you might not be, you might be joining our chat and, and being trolls. But anyway, most of you, even those who criticize me are. So anyway, thank you. Anyway, listen, I told you that the shutdown was starting to inconvenience people with flights, and that includes me. I had about four or five guests booked for this program that I had to rebook and that includes our guest who was supposed to come on right now, who was also stuck at an airport right now and can't come on. So I know all about this, but I want to make a serious point about this, folks. The shutdown is going to end today. That's great. Yay. But if you think it's because, well, they were just tired of the fact that government workers weren't working. They were worried about the folks on the food stamps. Baloney. Here's what ended the shutdown and I'm going to tell it to you straight because few people will do it. I'm going to tell you right now all of these flight cancellations that really, really went into effect. Now, there were some delays and stuff during the first few weeks of the shutdown, but it was this weekend when they finally started canceling flights and it was really starting to wreak havoc at a number of airports that hurt the senators themselves. Personally, they always love to travel on the weekend and John Thune made them stay in session. So they weren't able to get home and back. Their friends, their family, their donors got inconvenienced by this. They couldn't care less about the Poor people on food stamps, they couldn't care less about their fellow government workers who weren't getting paychecks. What they cared about was three or four hours of delays that they finally had to go through. Trump team, take note. The next time the Democrats want to shut down the government, do this first. Make them hurt first. If you want to shut down the government and you're willing to walk the walk and actually take the pain of you personally, I least respect you. I don't respect you. If you look at this for six or seven weeks, other people suffering, and when you finally get one little thing bothering you, you decide to cave. Now, I don't respect you, but I'm glad that the shutdown is ending. That is why the shutdown ended, folks. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I'm happy to see at least one mainstream news media outlet not saying that, but at least admitting that it was the Democrats who caved. Now, remember, the mainstream media is going to try to make it sound like the Republicans caved or President Trump caved. Not true. It was seven New Democrats or eight total who decided to cross the aisle overnight or late yesterday. That's what did it. The Democrats caved. And they caved because they were personally inconvenienced, Period. Now, there's another story that's been brewing over the last couple of days. Haven't heard a lot about it because of the shutdown and other things that are distracting us, but there's a number of reports that the government in Nigeria and another, a number of armed groups in Nigeria are scrambling to avoid a U.S. military strike. You might remember on November 1st, President Trump posted that he was angry about all the Christians who'd been killed by Islamic militants in Nigeria. And he was saying that even a strike on the country of Nigeria was possible from the US Military. Now, a lot, of course, libertarians getting upset about this, all the other folks getting upset about this, that's fine for a debate in a college classroom or in a seminar or maybe even your house of worship. But when you see leading people in society getting angry at President Trump for either attacking the drug cartels or even just threatening Islamic militants who are killing innocent Christians, I promise you, promise you, promise you. They are being paid and supported by the enemies of America, by the people doing that killing, and they're telling them, just pretend you're a libertarian, pretend you're against war. Pretend you're a peacenik, pretend you don't like presidential power, I promise you they're being paid off by the people who are doing the killing. That's what's happening with the Venezuelan drug boats as well, by the way. You're seeing some people in Congress, including some Republicans, who don't like the fact that we're killing off the drug boats and the drug cartels who are killing tens of thousands of Americans really monthly. It's really a horrible, horrible carnage on this country. And the same people, by the way, a lot of these people are the same people who were saying, why should we send our military or send our money and our weapons overseas to the Middle east or to act or to Ukraine when we have people killing us right here in the United States with drugs? And then President Trump finally does what other presidents didn't have the guts to do, and suddenly they're against that, too. Hmm. What do you think that means? You know, they did a lot of studies about the anti war movement in Vietnam. And sure, a lot of them were college kids who were high and upset. And of course, the war in Vietnam was a total mess. There were rules of engagement. We didn't do it right. The troops were there, they fought their best and they were good young men and women. But that isn't the reason. That wasn't the real impetus behind those anti war movements. That's not what funded it. It was Communists. The Soviet Union was. And China were spending a lot of money encouraging the anti war movement. They weren't anti war, they were just anti America. Same thing here. When you see loud voices against us going after these drug boats in Venezuela, when you hear loud voices saying we shouldn't even threaten, heaven forbid we should threaten the people who are killing Christians in Nigeria, I promise you, nine out of ten of them aren't doing it. Out of any intellectual thoughts. It's because they're being paid to say so. They are acting as the friends of our enemies who don't want us to be a strong country. It's as simple as that. Now, I want to talk about the shutdown being on its last legs because there was a focus over the weekend which really, really bothered me. But it should be very, very educational for all of us, and I hope we learn something from it. Now, the troops in the field have been getting paid, you know that, but they were threatened about, about this. We didn't know they were always going to get their paycheck. Thankfully, President Trump found a way to make sure that they got paid. And we know he got some help from some individual billionaires who were willing to help as well. I think that was a great moment in American history that people stepped up. But the mainstream news media barely talked about that over the weekend. They started crying about the non active duty troops, the people who aren't actual soldiers, the civilian workers at the Pentagon. Look, I'm sure a lot of them are very hardworking and good Americans. I'm not trying to say they're bad people, but the fact that the news media is actually was making more noise about them not getting their paychecks potentially than active duty troops really, really makes me sick. I'm so tired of the way that the political class in D.C. especially the Washington Post, which acts like a company line newspaper for government workers, cares more about these people than the folks who really put their lives on the line for America. And again, this is why the shutdown really ended. Because it was those people in the political class who personally got inconvenienced this weekend by all those flight cancellations. Don't let anyone tell you different. If they tell you different, they're not being honest with you or they're just ill informed. That's what really happened here anyway. The coordinated effort to make it sound like we should care more about a desk clerk at the Pentagon than someone who has, you know, is on the front lines in the war on terror and, you know, American troops are still in danger. They are still being attacked all over the world all the time. That's a very sickening thing. And it just goes to show where their priorities are. That's really important. And finally, it's all part of another aspect of all this. And I'll wrap it up right here. There is a concerted effort right now by the Democrats and their friends in the mainstream media to talk down this economy, to make it seem like the economy is crashing in America. And it's terrible. Now we have some economic challenges. Inflation brought to us by the Biden administration is still too high. We don't have enough homeownership in America. President Trump is working hard on both of those with new ideas, by the way, and I think that's great. But talking down the economy and making it sound like we're in a recession, which we're not. The last GDP report showed massive growth in the economy. You don't have a recession when the economy is growing. That's a simple, objective fact. Yes, the stock market isn't the only indicator of the economy, but the stock market is still near all time highs. That's also something that doesn't typically happen in a recession. We need to get more jobs in this country. I'm worried about AI killing jobs before it creates new ones. I think it'll do both of those things. But it seems to be killing more jobs than creating, at least for now. And I'd like to see that change. So sure, I'm not a Pollyanna. We definitely have problems in our economy. But you turn on the mainstream media right now or open up the New York Times or the Washington Post, they're making it sound like the economy is already in the dumpster, that it's 2008 all over again. Not only should you not listen to that because it's a lie, but you shouldn't listen to it because that is a way to make the economy worse when people start losing confidence. And that's what the mainstream media and the Democrats and the enemies of America who are funding both of them, by the way, want us to believe. It's as simple as that. Now, you know, here on American Sunrise, we talk a lot about getting back to good old fashioned American values. Faith, family, freedom, the things that built this country. Well, there's a bank speaking of our economy that's doing exactly that. It's called Old Glory Bank. Old Glory bank is where old school values meet innovative technology. They're moving banking into the next generation without leaving behind the personal touch and customer service that we all miss these days. Their customer service is incredible and their team works right here on US Soil. But with their app, they are making daily banking easier than it has ever been. Welcome back to American Sunrise Early Edition. I'm Jake Novak. Yes, those flags are flying at half staff at the White House because of the mourning period for former Vice President Dick Cheney. Yeah, I do know that it is a federal law when former presidents and vice presidents pass away that you have to do that. But you know that President Trump could have bucked the tradition on that if he had wanted to. What are they going to do, arrest him? So I do think it is gracious of the president to allow that to continue to happen despite the fact that Dick Cheney called Donald Trump the biggest threat to our democracy in 250 years. I mean, just, it's incredible. Why would you say something that makes someone who is otherwise very smart? No one ever accused Dick Cheney being dumb. But why would you say something so dumb towards the end of your life? I don't know. I hope that I keep all my dumb statements for several years before I pass away. So I'll try to get them out of my system now. Welcome back. Guardians Pictures Cleveland Indians, not the Guardians. Cleveland pitchers Emmanuel Clays and Louis Ortiz have been indicted finally by federal prosecutors here in New York on several charges related to the schemes to rig bets on individual pitches thrown during Major League Baseball games. Wait, you don't remember the story? You don't remember this summer or late in the summer when I first told you about this story breaking and how these were important players on that team, by the way, especially Clays, Huge player on the team. You know, the, the Indians, Cleveland made it to the playoffs. I hardly heard any announcers even talking about it. It. And then of course we had that huge scandal just about two weeks ago with the NBA, a head coach, an existing head coach of a team getting involved in gambling and this kind of stuff. And of course, another player, a good player, getting involved in either shaving points or shaving the numbers off of his own performance. This is a national epidemic. As I bring in David Brody here. He's not an epidemic. He's. But listen, I'm not a prude. I understand people are going to bet, but the fact is there is not enough of a safeguard against the actual players and coaches getting involved and rigging games. And we first saw this with college baseball, which made a lot of sense because the college players either don't get paid or they don't get much of an nil deal. I get it. But when we see head coaches of teams and players, star players like those guys on the Indians, the guardians were doing this, then you know that this is very widespread. And this is, and this is, you know, listen, I watched the NFL games this weekend. It's one betting app commercial after the next. We are addicting our kids on this and we're not even doing anything to protect the integrity of the sports. Looking at some of the stats just over the last year or so, $237 million Jake spent on sports betting ads on the networks and you, and that's by the way, up 10% from the previous year. And so you wonder, and I say this with sarcasm, you wonder why in the world were the networks be covering this all that much. Well, there you go. Follow the money. That's your answer. It's huge. And by the way, I was reading an article in the Washington Post today and I know it could be dangerous for my health, but this one was interesting. Sports betting is actually now going into place. Things like darts and surfing and all sorts of crazy stuff. Table tennis. So this is increasing like you wouldn't believe what's interesting to me. And it's a separate psychological issue that we're gonna have to figure out. But this guy, Claes, Emmanuel Claes, I mean, the guy makes $4.9 million a year. Yeah. I mean, what, what are you doing? I mean, let's, let's deep dive on a Dr. Phil episode at some point about that. Because, you know, it's not about the money for these guys. Right. It's about the chase. It's about the, the game. It's about, it's about the, you know, I gotta win. You know, it's all about competition. It's all about that. And there's a whole lot more to unpack. Gotta go though, right? I guess what I really don't appreciate are rich celebrities like Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx working to addict our kids on betting. Don't they have anything else better to do? Anyway, that's my anger. Sue. Tuned for the big show early. I'm Rodney Williams. And I'm Travis Holloway. Welcome to the wealthbreak podcast, a real conversation about finance. Let's be honest, building Weft doesn't look the same for everyone. I feel like sometimes being broke is a cycle and that we might have to revisit that and we're not stopping at success stories. What happens when it doesn't go right? How do you cope with it? Because wealth isn't just about money. It's about creating a life where you thrive and help others do the same. American Sunrise Early Edition is unapologetically direct in its analysis, blending national news with pointed conservative critique and classic American values. The show moves briskly from the shutdown’s human realities to pop culture, market analysis, and international affairs—often circling back to the underlying theme: public policy should serve regular Americans, not political insiders or disconnected elites.
For listeners seeking a candid, sometimes provocative perspective on the day’s news—with faith, family, and individual freedom at the center—this episode offers a robust and varied digest of what’s moving America at the start of a consequential week.
