Ahead on American Sunrise Early Edition. Eight days and counting before the crucial elections in New Jersey and Virginia and the big push to the finish line, complete with real grassroots efforts. An astroturf media spin is on. Meanwhile, there's just three days until President Trump's big meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump is already in Asia, and some of the biggest trade disputes between China and the US have apparently been resolved, thanks to some very strong wheeling and dealing over the weekend. But the trade disputes with Canada are still raging. And while everyone is talking about an old Ronald Reagan speech, the real news is that Canada is a prohibitively protectionist country and has been petty about its trade with the US for decades. Speaking of pathetic and petty, California Governor Gavin Newsom basically admits he's going to run for president in 2028. Apparently, he's doing that by posting on social media and pretending that he grew up poor. He didn't. And French police have made two arrests in connection with that brazen robbery of priceless jewels from the Louvre museum. But those jewels have still not been recovered. American Sunrise EARLY EDITION begins now.

American Sunrise Early EDITION with your host, Jake Novak starts now.
Jake Novak
Welcome, everyone. I'm Jake Novak. Thank you so much for joining us on Monday as we kick off this new week here on American Sunrise, EARLY Edition here on Real America's Voice. Of course, the real headline is that the world didn't end, even though the jets did win a football game yesterday. So we should all be thankful for that first and foremost. But in all seriousness, this is a very, very big week both here and abroad for all of us here, especially the viewers of this program. Joining us now is a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in Virginia, John Reed. John has been a regular guest on this program throughout the campaign season in Virginia, giving us updates, really clarifying it for us. John, the mainstream media. Let's just do a little preemptive healing for all of the viewers here and give them a little bit of some marching orders because the mainstream media is trying to make your race, the governor's race in Virginia and your lieutenant governor's race, the New Jersey governor's race. They're trying to make it all about President Trump and whether it's gonna be a positive thing for him or a negative thing for him. And of course, they're gonna do this whole little game where if Virginia and New Jersey, who both went for Kamala Harris in November, if they go for the Democrats in either one of these elections, they're gonna be huge headlines throughout the country about how this is the end of Trump. The revolt against Trump is, no, it won't be. But it would be nice, John, if at least one of those states went for the Republicans. Because these candidates the Democrats are rolling out are just outrageous. They're not really representative of the voting public even in their own states.
John Reed
Yeah, look, the Democrats have chosen extremist candidates, certainly here in Virginia. These are not moderates. But one of them at least, the candidate for governor, Abigail, is attempting to present herself as a moderate. She's always kind of presented herself as the soccer mom, even though she worked for the CIA overseas. At some point, I think people are going to kind of dig into that and have some questions. And then, you know, my opponent, I. I'm not trying to be too derisive, but I mean, she's like, mom Donnie in a dress here in Virginia. She is the self proclaimed leader of the progressive movement here in Virginia. And then we all heard about Jay Jones, who's trying to unseat Jason Meirith, our great Republican Attorney General. J. Jones, the one who said he put two bullets in his political opponent's head and watched the kids die so that maybe he could change some votes. I think Virginians are going to look at this and if they're undecided, like in my race, supposedly 7% undecided, you won't be undecided. If you walk into that ballot booth and you start deciding whether you want somebody who's pro business and pro job, or whether you want somebody who's doubling and tripling down on socialist policies, or whether you want somebody who's going to stand up for the people of Virginia, who is the epitome of the American dream, like Winsome Sears, an immigrant from Jamaica who's been a great lieutenant governor, or whether you want somebody who has been a part of the establishment in D.C. in Congress and voted for all the things you hate. And then the J. Jones, Jason Mears thing, I mean, my God, God help us if people actually try to excuse that type of violent rhetoric. I want us to have a peaceful and prosperous society. And I think most Virginians are gonna agree with me.
Jake Novak
John, there's an added issue in your own personal race against Ghazala Hashmi, she's running that campaign from the basement, refuses to debate you. Has been very hard to find out on the campaign trail. And so you did something very unusual last week. You had a debate with an AI version of Ghazala Hashmi because she just, the real Gonzalez Hashmi, won't show up to debate or even talk that much with the news media, let alone debate you. How did that go? And do you think it helped people understand the situation here? Look, some people try to make it all about the technological gimmick here, but the real issue is you have someone running to be a heartbeat away from the governor's job in a major state, and she won't campaign and she won't go out in public. That has to stop. It should have stopped with Joe Biden in the basement in 2020, but apparently the Democrats still like this move.
John Reed
Yeah, I think the voters of Virginia and the average American thinks if you're going to run for office, this is just kind of something you got to do. Find one hour in the entire campaign where you prepare to defend your beliefs and stand up for what you've voted on one way or the other. Let the people actually see you and hear you speak in an unscripted manner. Then there's the PR aspect of this. I mean, Ghazala Hashmi has $5 million, and I've got nothing. And that's frustrating as a Republican to be up against a financial tidal wave. Their plan was, let's suppress John Reed. Let's not give him the chance to ever speak in public. Let's, you know, these debates get a lot of attention, as they should. So pull the plug. Don't have a debate. Nobody will even know who he is. Well, I'm not the kind of guy who sits in the back of the room and just waits for good things to happen. I created that debate. And here's the thing that people should know about me. I'm a really fair guy. And I didn't turn this into a Saturday Night Live skit to try to bash my opponent. I actually told the producer of it. Make sure that every quote you pick is fully documented and that it's fair, not some extremist position. Not the dumbest thing she has said, let's try to keep this fair. And I'll go in with no rehearsal, no teleprompter, and I'll just respond to the same questions that she does without any script. And if people watch this debate, which is on YouTube, it's on my Facebook page, too, I think they'll see the difference between someone who shows up, first of all, that's me. And then someone who actually can articulate positions, who spent a lot of time thinking through these issues, a lifetime of working around business and some of the most potent problems that we're facing and has some solutions to them, versus this lady who really is just getting out of state money and is hoping to buy this race. I don't think people are going to like that from her.
Jake Novak
Yeah, you are exceedingly fair. I thought it was a wonderful moment during the AI debate when you offered your AI opponent a free charger and some extra electricity. I'm just kidding, but that was very good of you. Now listen, as if the stakes in Virginia weren't high enough, we are now hearing reports that the Democrats, if they win this thing, are going to push for redistricting in Virginia. I mean, so if you're a Republican who's still or a moderate or just a person with common sense in America and you're still on your couch about this, you're still not willing to do maybe make a few phone calls or do a little bit of something to help these, you know, these candidates, maybe now, I mean, can you imagine if Virginia gets redistricted like California and becomes blue forever? This is a big deal.
John Reed
It's a big deal. And the Democrats are so crass and so conniving. They're actually taking Winsome Sears, our governor's candidate, off the campaign trail today, starting today to have a special session. You know, Virginia has a part time legislature. We're not supposed to have a legislature in all year round, thank God, because every time they're in, they do bad, stupid things to be candid with you. And what they're trying to do, and this is really important, is overturn a constitutional amendment which was passed 2 to 1 all across the state of Virginia just five years ago that said we're going to take the partisanship out of redistricting and put it with the commission. That is supposedly what Democrats want all across the country. Right. They don't want the partisanship. So because they are angry about what's happening in other states, which I can't control. Nobody can control what the 50 different states do. They're going to torpedo the will of the people, overturn the will of the people of Virginia to try to have their way. They don't want partisanship unless it benefits them. And to hell with what the people said. I think Virginians don't like that. And as soon as they understand what's going on I hope there will be a revolt not in the streets, but at the ballot box one week from tomorrow.
Jake Novak
Yeah, folks, if you don't like what's going on in New York and California, some of the other places, don't let it happen in Virginia. Finally, John, just a quick question about the government shutdown, which of course affects Virginia a lot more than some other states because of all the government workers, especially in the northern part of the state. But also you have a major military presence in Norfolk, you know, in the Hampton Roads area where I grew up. But, you know, there's this outrage going on. The Democrats and the news media are trying to create this whole outrage about a private citizen, in this case Timothy Mellon, donating the money to cover the pay at the Pentagon right now. What's the feeling there? Is there enough anger at this government shutdown for it to all be turned one way or the other? Or is the fact that the Democrats keep voting for this shutdown and they're the ones who keep shutting down the government, is that getting through to the moderate voters, at least in Virginia? Do they realize just the simple facts of that, the objective fact of that?
John Reed
I think it's becoming clear. I mean, when the Democrats are mad that somebody's actually helping out the. The citizens instead of squashing the citizens, when the quotes are leaking out about how this is how the Democrats have leverage, so we don't care whether people get hurt. I mean, they already proved that in 2020, remember? I mean, they decided that they were going to shut down the entire American economy, state by state by state. Democrat governors basically said, we don't care whether small business owners go under. Their goal was to wreck the economy so they could win the White House and get Donald Trump removed at the ballot box then. So, I mean, it doesn't surprise me that they'll do this once everybody understands. Yeah, technically the Republicans have the White House, the House of Representatives, and the Senate, but then they understand you have to have 60 votes to do anything in the Senate, and Republicans don't have those votes. And you've got two Democrat senators in Virginia who on the one hand say, this is really awful for the Virginia economy, but then they walk across the street from the TV studio and constantly vote to keep the government closed. Like, you can't have it both ways, guys. If you, if you think this is really bad for the economy, and I do, I know it's bad for Virginia's economy, then you're. The Virginia senators vote to reopen the government, then you can negotiate whatever you want after that happens. But they want it both ways. I'm going to call them out on it. I will do that every single time. I don't like deceitful people, Republican or Democrat. And this is the ultimate in deceit and it's hurting real Virginians and we shouldn't tolerate it.
Jake Novak
Yeah, almost every elected Democrat at the state and certainly the national level works for the dnc, not for the constituency. And this is something people need to wake up to for. John Reed, thank you so much for joining us. Eight days to go. Good luck. I know you're going to be working 24 7. We'll see you soon. We'll see you soon.
John Reed
We'll do it. Thank you.
Jake Novak
All right, coming up, coming up, yet another wrinkle in the falsification of crime statistics in America has come to light and it only endangers the most likely victims even more. I'll explain. And later. Are the car companies coming up with a technology that would make speed traps and speeding tickets obsolete? American Sunrise early edition will continue.

It's a live shot of Port Jefferson, Long island, not far from from where I am right now. Really. That's kind of, that's the end of that main drag in Port Jefferson you're looking at right now that goes right onto the water just a little bit before. This shot is an amazing ice cream place. Very large, like barn, like structure. I highly recommend it. And if they want to sponsor this program, I will give everyone the address and all the other details. Welcome back to America's Sunrise early Edition. I'm Jake Novak. Former Energy Department scientist Matt Von Swall posted something very interesting on X over the weekend. Here you go. He went down the rabbit hole in his own state. A number of states do this. And he found that not only dozens, but actually thousands of crimes committed in his state and others by Latino men are classified as crimes committed by white men. Now, this is in addition to a number of states and cities that we know have been downplaying and not really reporting the real total number of crime statistics. But let me explain why. This is very serious. And it's not the reason why you think, for those of you watching who are thinking, oh, you know, they're just trying to gang up on illegal immigrants or people of Latino descent and yada, yada, yada, no, that's not the case. As you've heard me say on this program many times, yes, it's true that black men and sometimes Latino men are much more likely to be arrested for crimes than white people. But the bigger story is that Latino and black people are Even more likely, 12 times more likely to be the victims of violent crime. Let me ask you a rhetorical question. Who do you think the victims are of these crimes that these Latino men who are being classified as white are? Do you think they're white people on Park Avenue or white people in fancy suburbs? Of course not. So when you whitewash these statistics and tried to make it about white crime and people see this on a stat page and think, oh, these must be the rednecks somewhere in rural America, you know, hooked on opioids. Opioid, opioids. No, that's a problem in America. I'm not going to say it isn't, but that's not the issue here. This hurts minority people and it makes them invisible. Yes, it's bad that all these minorities are committing these crimes, but it's even worse than an even larger number by a factor of two or three or four are the victims of these crimes. Now, the implications, again, very, very serious for all of this. I want everyone to pay more attention to this about crime in America. Another thing that I want everyone to remember about all of this stuff. We're told from the time that we're born that poverty plays a big role in crime. You know, if people weren't so poor, we would avoid crime. So let's give more money to welfare and let's give more, throw more money at different programs because if people have money in their pocket, they won't rob me. Oh, yeah, Tell that to the people who lost money from Bernie Madoff. Tell that to the terrorism victims of multi millionaire Osama bin Laden. Here's a news alert. A rich person is just as likely to commit a crime against you as a poor person. Economics doesn't decide your morality. Your morality decides your morality, whether you're a good person or a bad person. Simple as that. So stop playing these games. They're trying to erase the reality of life for a lot of poor people in America. Poverty doesn't cause crime. Crime causes poverty. And when criminals see that if they commit crimes against poor people and in poorer neighborhoods or against just general minorities, and even the police either won't arrest them or when they do, they won't even report the statistics properly, guess where they're going to go back to commit more crime. If you see a poor neighborhood in America, I promise you it's a neighborhood that was once okay, but the criminals took it over. That's as simple as I can say it. Whitewashing, literally whitewashing who was committing crimes in America doesn't do any good to help Democrats. It doesn't hurt Donald Trump and it doesn't hurt white people. It just hurts the minorities that you claim to be trying to help. End of story. Okay, the tax deadline may have passed, but for millions of America, the real trouble is just beginning. If you miss the October 15th deadline or owe back taxes, the IRS is ramping up enforcement. Every day you wait only makes things worse. And here's the harsh reality. The IRS can charge a penalty of 5% per month, up to 25% of your total tax bill just for not filing. Now, that's in addition to what you already owe the good news there's still time for Tax Network USA to help self employed or a business owner. Even if your books are a mess, they've got you covered. Call 1-800-905-8000 or visit tnusa.com rav Let Tax Network USA help before the IRS makes the next move. Coming up, it's a tale of two trade wars. China and the US Are actually making some progress, but Canada takes a step back with an ad campaign used to cover up that nation's disgraceful protectionism and pettiness against the U.S. i'm a victim of it, so I can talk about it. And Ford makes what I'm going to call the easiest decision ever about which models to keep making in the face of that serious aluminum supply problem. It ain't Sophie's Choice, folks. At Saranac Lake, New York. I think there was an iced tea brand named after this lake, wasn't there? Tell me in the Getter chat or the rumble chatter X or on substack and let me know about that. Welcome back to American Sunrise. Earlier tonight, another beautiful site for you. Let's take a look at the markets and the markets. Another update for like if you're long the markets, I know some of you watching might be shorting some stocks, but I think most people are just long the markets. You just have a 401k or an IRA and it keeps going up. We had a nice rally to end last week and we got a nice rally to open this morning. This is because of President Trump and President Xi. They're going to be meeting in Seoul, South Korea, and they're going to be talking about a number of these trade issues. And over the weekend, a lot of the most contentious issues were already kind of resolved. They're going to end up shaking hands on a couple of things, including rare earths. Look, we both know this is an ongoing thing and China is going to pull the rug out from under us at some point. But the markets are looking at that short term positive and they're liking it. Gold's down over this, but still clearly over the four thousand dollar per ounce level. Crude oil coming down a little bit as well. Got over 62 bucks. Now it's just barely at 61. And Bitcoin, let's take a look at bitcoin because bitcoin's been making a comeback as gold has been going down. Bitcoin was under the 110,000 mark last week. It's back up to 115. So making a nice comeback there as well. All right, now I want you to allow me to disabuse everyone of the dishonest and hypocritical Canadian ad campaign against tariffs. Here you see President Reagan. This is a speech he was making in 1987. You remember the Reagan years. Every Saturday There would be the presidential address on the radio. Of course, they had a little bit of video of it as well. He would make it in civilian clothes, to say the least, not in a suit and tie. And they were great, by the way. Just a short message from him. And he made a message in 1987 talking about tariffs because the United States was facing a tariff attack on our goods when we weren't doing that to anyone else. President Trump's angry about this ad being run because it's deceptive, not because what President Reagan at the time wasn't saying. What he was saying at the time was true. That was 1987. Spoiler alert. That was 38 years ago. Okay. That's more than a generation ago. It's the fact that Canada is doing this at all. The word disingenuous, the word hypocritical comes up. Canada has been one of the most protectionist and petty countries against the United States and our products for decades. I have a personal experience with this. I have family in Canada. Let me tell you how hard it is to send birthday gifts or any other item to Canada from this country. Spoiler alert. It's hard, it's annoying, it's a pain in the neck because Canada's petty. They won't let companies like Walmart or Target into Canada without any with any real chance to make any money. Even though their department stores in Canada have been falling apart for decades, they don't care. They let their own people suffer. Canada should never be saying one thing about protectionism and tariffs, because they're the kings of that on this side of the earth, on this side of the Atlantic Ocean, they're pathetic and they're petty. Now, the people in Western Canada, like Alberta, they're not as bad. But when it comes to Ottawa and when it comes to Quebec and all these other places, they are weak and they're petty. And it's kept their entire nation not only from improving economically and improving relations with the United States, but it's kept their people without the goods and services they need. They should never say word one about trade and protectionism. That's the problem here. And that's why President Trump is slapping them with an extra tariff just to get them back in line. Now, like I said, there's better news coming from the US and the China trade dispute. I want to specifically talk about the. The Rare Earths Agreement. Now, China's been trying to play this cat and mouse game, okay, between us, about an agreement to send us those rare earths that we need Again, rare earths are not really rare. It's just, it's hard to get them mined out of the earth. And we spell behind because of China. China undermined and destroyed our mining companies that used to mine the rare earths regularly. So we put steep tariffs on them. And now they're going to, they say they're going to uphold their agreement to send us their rare earths. Now the reason why I want to talk about that again just for a second is that some of the rare earth miners in this country have been shooting up in the stock market lately because the United States is taking a bigger investment in them in the short term. This morning they're down because it looks like we're going to get more of those rare earths that China was playing a cat and mouse game over. But still, I still think those are good investments this administration, and I would hope even a Democrat administration coming after it, barring any future bribery from China, which we certainly can't discount, I think that that will continue to be a growing industry in America. We're going to rebuild our rare earths mining. But this morning the rare earth mining companies are down because of this agreement. Hey, two arrests have been made in connection with that brazen and incredible jewel heist from the Louvre more than a week ago. That was the Napoleon diamonds and jewels and things like that. They've arrested the two people, one of the. One of whom was trying to get out of Canada, get out of France, at Charles de Gaulle airport, but they still haven't recovered the jewels. I don't know what kind of pressure they're putting on these guys to tell the police where the jewels are. Maybe they're giving them American bread or something. Or cheese, Kraft cheese. Because if you're a French person, that's probably the worst torture. I'm only half kidding. We'll see if they can find these jewels. Please don't melt them down. If you're listening to me and you have those jewels, but please don't melt them down. We'll, we'll talk, we'll make a deal. All right, ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. This is moving America. Sponsored by artillery t company artilleryteaco.com use promo code LIBERTY for 20% off your order. Artillery tea is all natural, it's whole leaf. Artilleryteaco.com promo code LIBERTY for 20% off your order. How can you stop speeders? Well, if Wisconsin gets its way, habitual speeders, people who have been arrested many times for speeding or reckless driving, will be legally required to drive cars that actually cannot exceed the posted speed limit. Kind of like those cars in some states where people have to pass a breathalyzer test that's been installed in the car for it to start up. If you're a habitual drunk driver, obviously there are a lot of questions about this technology. What if you're someone who's just driving and a truck is out of control and coming towards your car and you need to speed to get away from it and not die? No one has really been able to answer that question all that well. Look, I like the idea of trying to punish habitual speeders and people who are reckless drivers, but I wonder if this is not the way to do it. And I also wonder if some of the people who make the technology to throttle these cars are donating money to the Wisconsin state legislature. Hmm. I wonder if that's what's happening. This doesn't sound like the safest solution to me. If someone has got more than one reckless driving arrest on their record, maybe just take away their license and put them in jail. That's the old school way and that might work a little bit better. Don't punish the rest of us. Let's just say what I'm about to talk about is not exactly Sophie's Choice. If you saw that movie with Meryl Streep, is going on at Ford right now. Now, Ford, as you know, has a limited amount of aluminum to work with right now because of that aluminum fire in Oswego, New York earlier this fall. And it's really, really cut down in the amount of aluminum they have. So they have to choose which models to make and which to put on the shelf. Guess what? They're going to make the gas powered Ford F150 the priority. And they're going to put the electric power powered Ford F150 on the shelf for God knows how long. Hmm. Good choice. That's what the customers want. You got to do what the customers want. When push comes to shove, once again, EVs are not the priority for any company that wants to remain in business. Okay. Two weeks ago I told you about how a software update that went wrong for Jeep Wrangler four XE models left a large number of owners with a bricked vehicle. A vehicle that just wouldn't go a big brick. But Jeep has just issued a recall for 24,000 Wrangler 4XE's they will get a temporary fix for now before a permanent solution is found. Can you imagine driving your Jeep, especially if it's off road somewhere and it suddenly shuts down and it becomes a virtual brick? Pretty scary. Listen, I like the software in cars. Sometimes it's really cool, but if it's going to disable my car, then no thanks. All right, I want to ask you, is this guy mean that I'm going to show you right now or is it just a really smart and extroverted guy he's showing you right now in this video, a Porsche 2012 Porsche Cayenne that originally had an MSRP of $135,000. He's bragging on all the social media platforms in a video that's gone viral about how he bought it in excellent condition as you can see for just $19,000. And yes, it's a 13 year old car, but this is a Porsche we're talking about. He got it on Facebook Marketplace of all places. Who knew that Facebook Marketplace could be the place where you get a Porsche SUV for under 20 grand? But this guy did it. Lots of videos like this going around and he can give you some tips about how to do it. By the way, hey, I'm always trying to find bargains for all of our viewers. Coming up, California Governor Gavin Newsom is just about kind of officially throwing his hat into the presidential race for 2028. But he's also putting his foot in his mouth. I'll show you all about that, but first I want to take a closer and more technical look at the big gambling arrest from Friday, specifically the big poker game busts. How are these games rigged? It's Monday, October 27th, here at this morning's top stories. Eight days and counting before the crucial elections in New Jersey and Virginia and the big push to the finish line, complete with real grassroots efforts and astroturf media spin is on. Meanwhile, just three days until President Trump's big meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. But some of the biggest trade disputes have apparently already been resolved, thanks to some major wheeling and dealing with over the weekend. But the trade disputes with Canada are still raging. And while everyone is talking about an old Ronald Reagan speech, the real news is that Canada is a prohibitively protectionist country and has been petty about its trade with the US for decades. They are pathetic. And some rich fools and their money were easily parted by those rigged poker games fronted by NBA hall of Famer choice Chauncey Billups. But was the technology used in these games pretty smart? American Sunrise EARLY Edition continues now. Welcome back to American Sunrise EARLY Edition on this Monday. I'm Jake Novak, going to begin this half hour by passing along some very sage advice that was given to my father, by his father and by my father down to me, which is never play in a card game with a guy whose first name is also a city. If you're sitting down at a poker or a blackjack table and there's somebody named Cincinnati Jack across the way, get out of that game. All right? Okay. Anyway, joining us now is AML Global founder and tech expert Ann Liveschotz and Ann, I want to pick your tech brain about the workings of these allegedly rigged high stake poker games. I'm saying allegedly because I'm being nice. Look, they were rigged. I mean, come on. But for. It still seems incredible to me. I'm going to, we're going to get into the tech in just a second. But it still seems incredible to me that an NBA hall of Famer and current NBA head coach like Chauncey Billups was getting mixed up in a mob run gambling operation. I got to get your thoughts on that part of it first. Look, just from all the, from all the aspects of this, this is shocking. Shocking to those of us who don't spend our time in illegal gambling dens. You know what I mean? And.
Ann Liveschotz
Cheryl, good morning. This is an interesting week. It is one where the news is more entertaining than fiction. Between the Louvre heist and now the NBA betting scandal, we have these famous movies like the Thomas Crown up there, the sting and Ocean's 11, 12, 13 rounders. But the news is as exciting as those movies these days. So to touch on what you just said, how does a high profile NBA coach find themselves in this situation? One of the things I think we'll hear is the classic question, what did he know? Who knew what, who knew how much? And I anticipate that we'll hear Coach Phillips say that yes, he was at these games and he did come to these games and he was a part of these games, but he did not know that he was part of a cheating ring. He was there to be a celebrity that attracts other people to the game, similar to how hotels and all facilities in high higher celebrities, higher actresses, higher Hollywood celebrities, NBA celebrities to come and be at their facilities, be at their venues, be at the casinos and come in and you know, promote that opportunity. So we may hear him say, yes, I was there because it's going to be very hard for any of these defendants to say they weren't there when there are going to be lots and lots and lots of fish for the people that were cheated out of the money that can say no, he was there sitting right there in front of me. So what I think we'll hear is there'll be some admission or what we might hear is there's some mission as to being present. But he did not, he did not know what was going on.
Jake Novak
You know, and con man is short for confidence man. In other words, he gets you to get your, put your confidence in him. That's what Khan stands for. And I think a lot of people Say, oh, Chauncey Billups, NBA hall of Famer, current head coach, he can't be in a rig game. This game must be on the up and up if he's there. And that's exactly what I think he was being used for. I think again, I'm not prosecuting him. I think he was paid under the table to do that, or maybe he was paying back a debt he owed, things like that. And it reminds me, and you know, I know you were a college athlete and you're in the sports world and you're still very much involved in swimming and things like that. But you know, it bothers me to see that. And I remember as a young boy when the Atlantic City casinos opened in the early 80s and they would get people like Mickey Mantle and Joe Louis to be greeters at these casinos. And even as a 12 year old or 13 year old boy, I looked at it, that seemed kind of pathetic to me. It seemed really sad. But what isn't sad and what isn't pathetic and is some of the things we're hearing about the technology that was allegedly used in these rigged games. We're hearing about x ray tables, we're hearing about special contact lenses that some of the players could wear to go and read through these cards. Can you walk us through some of this or at least give us an idea about this? Because honestly, this is incredible to me. At least there's some, there's, there's a gee whiz aspect to this for me.
Ann Liveschotz
Sure. So first context. We have two separate indictments. One, illegal betting, insider trading, and that's just classic manipulating the game to manipulate the markets. The second indictment deals with illegal betting and a rigged game. And here's the real story. We're all reading this and we're all intrigued by this, but it's actually not very high tech. In fact, it's quite basic technology they use that we use every day that was just deployed and well coordinated. So if you go through the indictment, the real way that they accomplished this was with the automatic card shuffle. This was where most of the instances of the cheating took place. And inside the card shuffle is a way to ensure that the cards are shuffled, that there's a random shuffle and that you can verify that. And when you read the news and you read the indictment, you learn that there is a camera or a sensor inside that reads the cards. And that may seem newsworthy, but actually this is used in regulated casinos so they can validate, so they can verify that the cards were actually shuffled. What was Facilitated is there was a dongle or a device that was placed into that and using wireless technology, it transmitted the data from the sensor, from the optical sensor or the lens to an operator, an external operator outside, outside of the game. And that person would then transmit that data using Bluetooth or some type of wireless technology to somebody at the table known as the quarterback. And then they could use just low tech signalings and positioning of hands and touching of chips and touching of cards to communicate with the other alleged cheaters at the table. So it's quite low tech. It's like putting, it's something that would feel like putting a USB into, into a device. So there was some type of device placed into the automatic card shuffle shuffler and that transmitted the information from the sensor to an external operator who then communicated it to the quarterback. The second, the second piece of technology that we heard about is an X ray table or an infrared table. And we actually see these, we see these. If you're watching poker tournaments, if you watch a poker tournament, watch a televised poker tournament, there's actually cameras under the table. But in this instance there was an X ray or an infrared reader that could detect the difference of the cards, the ink on the cards, the marking on the cards. And then once again that was transmitted to an external operator that could communicate with the client accomplices, the accomplices in the room. And then the last, the last technology that was used, that's referred to as a high tech technology. I actually like to compare it to a goodie bag gift that I used last year for my child's birthday. There was this little spy kit and they used an ink that's an, that's a, that's available only under a UV light. And they could write messages and then with the ink and then shine the light on it. It's essentially the same things. They were marking the cards with a U, with a, with a UV ink. And then the contact lenses. You know, a lens is like our eye, it detects light. The contact lens can see the markings on the card. So just there in plain view, you can see what the cards are if they're marked accordingly.
Jake Novak
Just incredible. I want to take a step back just for a second. Listen, you're, you're a high profile person. You've been at some high levels in both the business and the government world. The poker craze overall is something that's been going on for like basically 30 years, but maybe a little bit less than that. I don't know any of my friends who are top Level people on Wall Street, I have a few of them. People I know, top level folks who have been in the corporate world. They're all really into poker. And I can understand this from an intellectual standpoint. It is a great math game, basically, to play in real life. What do you think? I mean, is that what it is? It's just the. It's the fact that really good brains. And I can tell you that some of the top. Top poker players in the world come out of countries where there's very good mathematical education and engineering education. So, I mean, is that. Is that the draw? Just top level brains going up against each other?
Ann Liveschotz
I think it's truly different things for different people. I do know a lot of people that play, and they. It's really an analytical exercise for them. You know, first of all, it's not just, you know, anticipating the cards, but it's, you know, it's reading it. You're calculating a lot of different things at the same time. Other people's hands, probability, a card. So there's a real analytical exercise, and I think it does. It is like a game or a puzzle for some people, especially for people that work in more analytical fields. And then there's just the fun of the game, the social element of it. And then we have heard some people talk about addiction, but there is a. There's this podcast last week where I believe it was Charles Barkley that said this wasn't addiction. This was stupidity. I mean, these people are making a lot of money, and then they risk it to make, what, $50,000? He's like, it's just stupidity. So I do think different people come to this game for different reasons. But a lot of the pro. A lot of the people that you're talking about, I think they really find it like, you know, a nice math game, like a nice word problem game. But it's sophisticated, it's social, and it's fun.
Jake Novak
Yeah. And the Kenny Rogers song, the Gambler, you gotta know when to hold them. No one to fold them. I've heard some remixes of that song, but I'm all into remixes these days because I think music, creative music, I think ended in this country in 1995. There hasn't actually been any new genre, so you got to get these remixes. I'm only half kidding. I mean, that song makes me want to be a gambler, although I never follow through on that. And live shoots. Thank you so much for joining us. Have a great rest of your week.
Ann Liveschotz
Thank you.

Look at the White House right now. President Trump not there. He's in Japan right now. But the way. But still a beautiful White House. And the flag is moving a little bit. So it looks like they've got a little bit of a breeze going in our nation's capital. Hey, I want to share something with you right now. Personal story, folks. I was born the son of a poor sharecropper in Oklahoma. Well, I was born in Oklahoma, but I'm not the son of a sharecropper. Why am I bringing this up? Because Gavin Newsom is going on podcasts right now, changing his voice a little bit to sound a little, you know, a little different, let's say it that way. And he's talking in a different way, and he's trying to pretend that he grew up poor. Check this out.
Podcast Narrator
But also, you know, it was also about paying the bills, man. And it was just, like, hustling. And. And so I was out there kind of raising myself, turning on the tv, started, you know, just getting obsessed, you know, sitting there with the, you know, the Wonder bread and five stacks of.
Jake Novak
Like, the white stack. Five stories.
David Brody
Come on, macaroni and cheese.
Jake Novak
Are you talking about me?
iHeart Radio Announcer
Young yg.
Jake Novak
Yg, man. Every day.
Podcast Narrator
Every day in the backyard, just bouncing the basketball, throwing the ball against the wall until the ball is just, like, fraying, man, and you're taining yourself. That's it. Whole thing. So just. And. And then, you know, then this student that was in the back with his head down all of a sudden started throwing the baseball a little faster than everyone else and started, you know, make a few free throws, because I was sitting there practicing 500 of them every damn night. And in high school, I look up in the stands, my dad's back up there, okay? And it's like, man. And then he's bringing his friends and you're captain of the team, and you're like, geez, you know, and it just saved me. And it got me into college.
Jake Novak
Yeah. In the beginning of that sound bite, he's talking about how he had to eat Mac and cheese all the time and his basketball. He grew up rich, guys. He's like, he didn't grow up poor. And this reminds me, David Brody, remember when Hillary Clinton in 2016 went on an African American radio show and talked about how she always keeps hot sauce in her purse? I mean, this has got to be incredibly insulting for black people in America to hear this stuff. Here's this rich kid who went to private school. He looks like Gordon Gekko from Wall Street. We can tell this guy was born rich and grew up. And there's nothing wrong with that. There's nothing wrong with. But he's trying to pretend that he had a basketball that frayed. Yeah. Because he had 10 others that maybe weren't his lucky basketball. I mean, come on, Dave. This is so insulting. But they can get away with it, right? In these one party states. When you work in it, when you live in a one party state and you're a Democrat, you think you can get away with anything. I mean, that was really hard to watch for me.
David Brody
Well, and it's so disingenuous. And yet it clues you into what Democrats think that the only way they think they can win is to be disingenuous. I mean, think about it for a second, right? I mean, when. When Hillary Clinton revealed her true self, when she talked about that basket of deplorables.
Ann Liveschotz
Right.
David Brody
It was. I mean, that. That was the authentic Hillary Cl. And that's a problem. So if Gavin Newsom was ever authentically who he says or who he thinks he is or really is, that would not go over well with voters. So he's got to do the whole Mac and cheese routine, and here we are. But, you know, it just is in such contrast to President Trump. It's just so beautiful to see. You know, President Trump goes into a black church and says, what the hell do you have to lose? You know, I mean, this guy, I mean, you know, and the other day he said this thing about construction where he was like, oh, the beautiful sound of construction. I love it because it sounds like money to me. I mean, nobody in their right mind would ever say that. We all hate the sound of construction. But Trump doesn't give a crap. He's authentic and people love it.
John Reed
Yeah.

Here's a hot tip from unemployable political consultant Jake Novak. Try telling the truth about yourself and see if the voters like you. All right, the big show's coming up. This is an I heart podcast.
This episode of American Sunrise Early Edition dives into the final stretch before the pivotal New Jersey and Virginia elections, explores major U.S. trade developments with China and Canada, exposes the manipulation of crime statistics, unpacks a high-profile gambling scam, and analyzes political posturing by California Governor Gavin Newsom. With Jake Novak at the helm, the show blends political analysis, economic updates, tech intrigue, and cultural commentary—all through the lens of “faith, freedom and the values that built this nation.”
“The mainstream media is trying to make your race…all about President Trump…huge headlines…about how this is the end of Trump. The revolt against Trump. No, it won’t be.”
—Jake Novak (02:30)
“I created that [AI] debate…I told the producer…make sure that every quote you pick is fully documented…not some extremist position.”
—John Reed (06:03)
“Canada has been one of the most protectionist and petty countries against the United States and our products for decades…”
—Jake Novak (25:50)
“A rich person is just as likely to commit a crime against you as a poor person. Economics doesn’t decide your morality. Your morality decides your morality.”
—Jake Novak (18:40)
“It’s quite low tech. It’s like putting a USB into a device...transmitted...to an external operator who then communicated...to the quarterback [at the table]...”
—Ann Liveschotz (41:18)
“President Trump goes into a black church and says, what the hell do you have to lose?...he’s authentic and people love it.”
—David Brody (54:03)
Jake Novak balances humor, outrage, skepticism, and “straight talk,” often blending lighthearted asides with passionate critiques of politicians and systems. The episode is punchy, pointedly anti-establishment, and emphasizes authenticity as a political virtue. Issues are approached from a populist-conservative angle, with frequent digs at Democratic tactics, media framing, and elite hypocrisy.
For listeners who missed the episode, this summary captures the central storylines, notable moments, and the show’s vibrant, irreverent energy.
