Ahead on American Sunrise, justifiable force or murder. ICE agents are under fire. And Minneapolis is on edge after a woman is shot and killed by an ICE agent. We'll be discussing the situation throughout the show. Plus, we'll have Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn join us with her ideas and thoughts on what happened. The art of the oil deal. The Trump administration says Venezuela will send the US between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil. Plus, another tanker has been seized. We've got details on both angles of this developing story. And then later, could another government shutdown be on the horizon? Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer isn't ruling it out. His comments and more on American Sunrise, which starts right now.
David Brody
Good morning, America.
Dr. Gina
Welcome to American Sunrise. Whether it's culture, we have breaking news to share with you.
Terrence Bates
Politics.
David Brody
President Trump is joining us live now from Florida.
Terrence Bates
We've got you covered.
David Brody
This is what it looks like to be a patriot.
Terrence Bates
We have to protect the American family.
Dr. Gina
The American dream is still alive.
David Brody
I'm Dave. Hi, I'm David Brody.
Terrence Bates
I'm terrence.
Dr. Gina
And I'm Dr. Gina. Good morning, everybody. I'm Dr. Gina. We are live with you from the Palm Beaches. Let's bring in David brody in Washington, D.C. and Terrence Bates in our Denver newsroom. Good morning, gentlemen. What a day. You Never know what 24 hours is going to bring in terms of breaking news. And it certainly definitely brought some breaking news to us last yesterday afternoon.
Terrence Bates
Absolutely. Dr. Gina. David. Good morning, Dr. Gina. Alluding to that ICE agent in Minneapolis having shot and killed the driver of her car. The ICE agent saying that the driver was trying to ram him. You see it all playing out here. The agent's approaching the woman. You see her pull off. And then shortly after this, you see the shots and hear the shots being fired. And the woman eventually crashes into another car down the street. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem calling this domestic terrorism. Bring back in David and Dr. Gina to discuss. There's so much to unpack here, David. Where would you like to start?
David Brody
Well, maybe we start with this. Look, when federal immigration officials pull you over, here's a pro tip. Don't try to kill them and ram them with your car. Maybe we should start with that. Look, no one wants to see anyone killed in any of this, whether it be an ICE officer or a protester or whoever this person was. Exactly. In the car, clearly a protester of some sort. We don't want to see that. But having said that, you know, there's that to begin with. Also, let's be clear. I mean, Democrats are probably getting the plaque ready for this woman. Let's be honest here. They're gonna make her out to be a martyr here. There's no doubt about it. And look, ICE assaults against ICE officers have been up over 1,000% since President Trump took over. And in terms of vehicle attacks, it's over 50% increase since the Biden administration. Over 100 vehicle attacks only in one year. 100 vehicle attacks against ICE agents. So look, when you have Jasmine Crockett, Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett calling ICE slave patrols, when you have Tim Walls, the governor of Minnesota, calling ICE a modern day Gestapo, and I can just go on and on and on with these Democrats, what do you expect from people that are going to ram ICE agents right into the ground? Gina?
Dr. Gina
Yeah. They are inciting on the Daily Democrat politicians. The blood in this incident is on your hands. Thank God that ICE agent is okay. This ICE agent was already hit and dragged underneath a vehicle. In another incident less than a year ago, he resorted to his training. I think he did what he had been trained to do. A vehicle is a weapon that had already been used against him and dragged him, hit him and dragged him underneath. He did exactly what he was supposed to do by the looks of everything. Of course, there'll be a full investigation and we can't try this in the court of television. But what we can do is know what it is we saw and know what it is that we are dealing with statistically. And know what it is, Terrence, that Democrat politicians are inciting every single day. This needs to stop. They have got to put a stop to this. The Democrats have got to stop inciting this sort of action against our ICE agents. No ICE agents, Terrence, should ever have to deal with this again.
Terrence Bates
Agreed. Case closed in the court of television for the time being. We'll of course, get back and reconvene a little bit later. You see what I did there, David? I think you got it. Dr. Gina, you're looking at me like, what's he talking about? I liked your court of television. All right, Dr. Gina, would you give us our Bible verse? I think this is a great setup because we do want to pray not only for our ICE agents, but also for the public in general. Good American people who are doing the right thing on a daily basis.
Dr. Gina
That's right. All right, today's Bible verse is from Romans 15, verse 13. Now, may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing that you may Abound in hope. By the power of the Holy Spirit. A federal immigration agent, as we mentioned, fatally shot a driver in Minneapolis during a massive immigration enforcement operation with massive resistance. Authorities say the agent fired after the driver allegedly attempted to run over officers and ended up killing the person at the scene. The incident took place as the massive federal invest federal immigration operation in the city is underway involving thousands of agents and has sparked protests and condemnation from local officials. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem calling this an act of domestic terror.
David Brody
She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer. Holder It'll this appears as an attempt to kill or to cause bodily harm to agents. An act of domestic domestic terrorism. The ICE officer, fearing for his life and the other officers around him and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He uses training to save his own life and that of his colleagues. He was treated at a local hospital, has been released and is now with family. I encourage the American people at this point in time to pray for him, but also to pray for the deceased's family. For love the dogs.
Dr. Gina
Foreign let's bring in Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn. Senator, your take.
David Brody
This is such a tragic situation. And as you all mentioned earlier, the attacks on ICE agents are up over 1,300%. Death threats against the agents and their families, 8,000% increase. This is what they're facing every single day for enforcing the rule of law and providing protections for the American people. They've been working in Minneapolis to remove criminals, to remove individuals that have orders of deportation, to get in behind this fraud scam that has been taking place. And everyone has heard about this escalated fraud in Minnesota. So yes, indeed, ICE is on the ground. They are doing their job. Loss of life is tragic. Tragic. The situation is tragic. Secretary Noem was very explicit yesterday that the ICE agent responded as he had been trained to respond and making that assessment that not only his life but the life of his fellow workers were in danger. Yeah, there's no doubt about that, Senator. Let's move on. There's so much news going on, obviously, Venezuela, the Trump administration announcing that it's going to take in between 30 and 50 million barrels of Venezuelan oil. President Trump has said he will control the money from the oil to make sure it benefits the American people and the Venezuelan people as well. Here's what Secretary of State Marco Rubio had to say about the oil and the process. Take a look. Step one is the stabilization of the country. We don't want it descending into chaos. Part of that stabilization and the reason why we understand and believe that we have the strongest leverage possible is our quarantine. As you've seen today, two more ships were seized. We are in the midst right now and in fact, about to execute on a deal to take all the oil they have, oil that is stuck in Venezuela. They can't move it because of our quarantine and because it's sanctioned. We are going to take between 30 and 50 million barrels of oil. We're going to sell it in the marketplace at market rates, not at the discounts Venezuela was getting. That money will then be handled in such a way that we will control how it is dispersed in a way that benefits the Venezuelan people, not corruption, not the regime. So we have a lot of leverage to move on the stabilization front. The second phase will be a phase that we call recovery, and that is ensuring that American, Western and other companies have access to the Venezuelan market in a way that's fair. Also, at the same time, begin to create the process of reconciliation nationally within Venezuela so that the opposition forces can be amnestied and released and from prisons or brought back to the country and begin to rebuild civil society. And then the third phase, of course, will be one of transition. Some of this will overlap. By the way, I think Rubio has been spectacular, not just on Venezuela, but on so many different issues. But I'm curious about boots on the ground. Is it a concern of yours that this could start to spiral? We already have boots, let's be honest, on the sea, if you will, over there in the ocean. What about on the ground?
Dr. Gina
And we have been told there are.
David Brody
No boots on the ground. This was an operation in Venezuela that was conducted through law enforcement. The protection for law enforcement and for the fugitives Maduro and his wife was provided by the US Military. And there are no boots on the ground in Venezuela. We had a great briefing yesterday. Secretary Rubio laid out the stabilization, recovery and transition plans that they have in place. We have heard from Venezuelans all across the country and their conversations with relatives back in Venezuela. Venezuela, they are all grateful that Maduro has been removed. They know that Maduro was the head of the cartel and he was a thug, an evil man.
Dr. Gina
And they're, they're hopeful that him being.
David Brody
Brought to justice, facing justice in the United States, will help with the stabilization and the transition. Now, when it comes to the oil. Yes, making certain that the. The U.S. carries that oil to market and they sell that oil on the.
Dr. Gina
Market and that you have the Venezuelan.
David Brody
People and the services that are necessary for their daily life, that those are going to be covered from that custodial fund. That is going to be an important part of getting Venezuela back on the right track.
Terrence Bates
We could unwrap a lot more about the Venezuela story, but I want to get to something that you're doing, Senator. Apparently you're set to introduce a bill, I'm understanding, that's aimed at codifying President Trump's national standards for AI. Can you lay out some of the details for us? Can you chat GPT us in real time?
David Brody
Yes, absolutely, Terrence. And it is the Trump America AI act. And this is the framework. It basically would codify the president's executive order. It would provide protections for kids, creators and innovators, our conservatives and consumers. And we know AI is biased against conservatives. So putting those protections are important. We have the Kids Online Safety act, which would put that duty of care in place. On these social media platforms, we're all hearing the horror stories of the sextortion that is taking place on young boys. And much of it is happening through these AI chat bots being encouraged to commit suicide, things of that nature. And the social media platforms that are encouraging children to eating disorders suicide. This is where this virtual space is, where kids are meeting drug dealers, pedophiles, predators, groomers. And many times the first encounter they have with those individuals is in the virtual space. We want to make certain we win the AI race and that we beat China. And as we know, with every industrial sector, when you have light touch regulation and everyone understands the ground rules, then that is when innovation takes place.
Dr. Gina
Senator Blackburn, looking out for our children and our conservative constitutional values, we thank you.
David Brody
Happy to join.
Dr. Gina
Blackburn to you as well. All right, everybody. Coming up, we're going to check out the hottest headlines from the RAV newsroom with T. Bates. Still lots of buzz this morning about the deadly Minneapolis shooting involving an ICE agent and a woman that he claims was trying to run him over with a car. ICE is backing the agent this morning saying the shooting was in self defense. You can see the situation unfolding here for yourself in this video. There's a woman pulling off and the shots were fired immediately thereafter. At this point, we do know that the 37 year old woman was shot in the head.
David Brody
You know, people need to stop using their vehicles as weapons. This domestic act of terrorism to use your vehicle to try to kill law enforcement officers is going to stop. And I'm asking the Department of Justice to prosecute it as domestic terrorism because it's clear that it's being coordinated. People are being trained and told how to use their vehicles to impede law enforcement operations and then to run over anybody who gets in their way while they go out there and try to disrupt peace and public safety. And Americans deserve better.
Terrence Bates
The Department of Homeland security has deployed 2,000 officers to the Minneapolis St. Paul area, marking its largest ever crackdown. Secretary Noem says that more than 1500 people have already been arrested. But Wednesday's deadly shooting, of course, has that community on edge. And the fallout from Wednesday's shooting continues as schools in the area are closed today as a safety precaution. Neighbors are also being encouraged to remain calm. State and local officials are demanding that ICE leave the state, though Wednesday night a vigil was held for the woman who was killed. Demonstrators also used the event and the hours leading up to it to protest against the ongoing ICE operation in that city. Meantime, President Trump posting on Truth Social that the officer who fired the shot is recovering in the hospital. The commander in chief going on to write the reason these incidents are happening is because the radical left is threatening, assaulting and targeting our law enforcement officers and ICE agents on a daily basis. They are just trying to do the job of making America safe. We need to stand by and protect our law enforcement officers from this radical left movement of violence and hate, he writes. The events of the last 24 hours in Minneapolis could set the stage for a face off between the state's National Guard and federal agents. Minnesota Governor Tim Wall saying he's prepared to deploy the National Guard if necessary. He's also expressing outrage over the shooting as the mayor of Minneapolis is also pushing back against the Department of Homeland Security's narrative that the incident was self defense and a response to domestic terrorism. The commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety says state authorities will investigate the deadly shooting alongside federal authorities. The move comes amid calls for the officer who pulled the trigger to be prosecuted. That's a quick check of your headlines. We'll have more headlines coming up throughout the show. Now, though, let's get a quick check of your forecast with Weather Nation's Tracy Anthony. We're also going to put up a QR code there at the bottom of your screen. You can scan that and join our friends over at Weather Nation. So, Tracy, over the next couple of days, there's a threat of severe weather pretty much from the midsection of the country east, is that right?
Dr. Gina
Yeah, really almost all the way to the East Coast. So the map looks a lot more active than just the last couple of days. So now things are starting to ramp up as we have several systems that will move over the Rockies and into the Plains. And it's really going to be back to back lows that impact the same area. So that's when you have a bigger concern for flooding and those impacts that compound. But to start off the day, we do have a severe thunderstorm warning in areas including Oklahoma City. Now, this line of storms moving to the northeast at about 55 miles per hour. But what we can brace for is winds up to 60 miles per hour, quarter size hail and tornado potential over.
David Brody
The next couple of days.
Dr. Gina
So if you're across the south, all the way up to Chicago, you are going to be at risk for some storms, strong to severe thunderstorms over the.
David Brody
Next couple of days.
Dr. Gina
And Terrence, I know we've been talking about that heat and that's exactly what's fueling these widespread thunderstorms.
David Brody
Okay.
Terrence Bates
All right. Well, I like the heat. I don't like the thunderstorms and the severe weather that's associated with it. Tracy, we'll check back with you next hour where one of our lucky viewers is going to get a hometown forecast just from you. Thanks so much.
Dr. Gina
Yeah.
Terrence Bates
And once again, folks, if you'd like that hometown forecast, go onto our various social media sites. It can be get a rumble, YouTube, let us know where you're hanging out. Let us know where home is for you. And you never know, maybe you'll be one of the lucky recipients of Tracy's hometown forecast. It awaits as the screen says. All right, we're going to take a quick break, but when we come back, US Operations in the Atlantic. In the Atlantic have forces seizing another tanker there. This one had a Russian flag on it. So what does all of this ultimately mean for national security insecurity in that region? We'll take a look.
David Brody
Las Vegas, Nevada. Can I just say, I like to share my travel plans with everybody. I'm going to Las Vegas in February. A little family mini vacation where we're going to gamble galore. No, actually, we're going to the wizard of Oz at the Sphere. I mean, I'm looking forward to that. The Sphere. Like, huge. Like my gut after Christmas. Welcome back, everybody, to American Sunrise. All right, I'm David Brody. The United States has seized a Russian flagged oil tanker linked to Venezuela for alleged sanctions violations. U.S. authorities say the ship was carrying oil in defiance of American restrictions. No surprise there. The vessel was taken under a federal court order without incident. Now, Russia, of course, condemning the seizure, calling it illegal. Wah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Here's what White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt had to say. Take a look. With respect to the two ships that you mentioned, I spoke with you about the Bella One. There was another vessel this morning, the Sofia, that in coordination with the Department of War, the Department of Homeland Security apprehended it. This is a stateless, sanctioned, dark fleet motor tanker, and this occurred without incident. This vessel was operating in international waters and conducting illicit activities in the Caribbean Sea. The US Coast Guard is escorting the Sofia to the United States for final disposition. To answer your question, Kelly, directly, this was through Operation Southern Spear. The Department of War is unwavering in its mission to create crush illicit activity in the Western Hemisphere. And as the President has repeatedly stated, we're going to defend our homeland and restore security and strength across the Americas. She's so good. Pregnant, not pregnant. She's just great. For more, let's bring in retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and geopolitical strategist Darren Gobb. Colonel, thanks for being here. So, look, we're clearly in the age of the Don Roe Doctrine, if you will. I'm curious to get your sense if that's good, if it's bad, or something in between. Yeah, David, I think it's good. I mean, it's. I guess one of my. One of the things I always said in the military was you can't complain about what your neighbor's yard looks like if you can't take care of your own. And, you know, the best comparison then is the Western Hemisphere and That's our own backyard. We should be very concerned about what happens in Central and Southern America because what happens there trickles up through our southern border and into our cities and states, and you've got a bigger problem. So this is internal security. It's also Western hemisphere security, and frankly, it's global security, because this illicit oil trade is fueling economies of nations that are very much against the United States, one of which is China. They get 80% of their oil from Venezuela, and at any given time, they've got about two weeks of oil supplies in Venezuela is critical to them. That's why they want to be here. But that's exactly also the nation that we shouldn't have here because they want to control south and Central America and frankly also the Panama Canal and keep using nations like Cuba and such to come at the United States and spread socialism, communism, and all the usual nefarious actors in our backyard. So it's time that we take a look at our own house, I guess you could say, before we start worrying about too many others.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, well, speaking of in our backyard, Colonel, a federal immigration agent has fatally shot a driver in Minneapolis using during this massive immigration enforcement operation. Authorities say the agent fired after the driver allegedly attempted to run over the officers. And of course, this one particular rioter was killed at the scene. The incident took place as the massive federal immigration operation in that city is underway. And this is involving thousands of agents, has sparked protests and condemnation from local officials. A lot of outrage here, but Colonel, no outrage from Democrat politicians at all of the uprising. In fact, they've been inciting it. Were you surprised this happened?
David Brody
Not a bit. Unfortunately. This feels like 2020 all over again, although on a smaller scale. You've got politicians standing around saying this is just peaceful protests or there's no protests while buildings and things are burning behind them and people are throwing brick. The sad reality is the fact, of course, that these kind of politicians will one, prejudge a situation and blame the wrong people, no investigations even done. The violent rhetoric and the push for these constant tactics of violence against our law enforcement officers is spread throughout multiple states. And people are operating on the assumption that they're not going to be held accountable for doing, well, frankly, what they would claim their politicians are telling them to do in the first place. So this is a sad situation, of course, in this one case, but it's an indication of what's going on nationwide with so many people that are very quick to back the criminals and blame the law enforcement, I guess you could say we're living in an upside down world once again.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, absolutely, Colonel.
David Brody
God.
Terrence Bates
I'd like to get your assessment about what's happening in Iran right now. Obviously, daily protests there. The government is cracking down violently on those protests. Protesters, there's economic hardship there. The protesters also pushing back against government policies. How do you think all of this will ultimately end? And do you see what's happening today as maybe one of the first steps of ending the current Iranian regime?
David Brody
Yeah. You know, this was something that I've been anticipating for quite some time now since we put the maximum pressure campaign back on Iran. Tie that together also with the fact that Iran has shown twice on a world stage their weakness by not even being able to attack effectively Israel, who's practically a neighbor in some ways. This was something I thought was going to happen at some point. What's the instigator here, of course, is the currency collapse which is brought on by that economic campaign. And I think what you're seeing is the greatest chance that the Iranian people have to throw off their dictators and get back to the nation that they're capable of being. And you see pictures and we've seen evidence of what, what that was in the early 70s, before the revolution in 1979. They can be a very prosperous nation with a lot of freedom if they want to. But the people of Iran have to be the ones to fix this. And this is a very good chance of having that result. Let's hope it does. Let's hope it. Minimal to no violence in the process. But at some point this dictatorship has to get thrown off, not only for Iran, but for the chance of a greater peace in the Middle east and Central Asia. Yeah, it's great to see, obviously a huge development. Nice to see at those protests, the burning of the hijab by many women. So good for them. Thanks for being here, Colonel. Appreciate it.
Terrence Bates
Thanks, Colonel.
David Brody
Hey, thanks for having me on.
Dr. Gina
Thank you.
David Brody
All right, coming up, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was on the Charlie Kirk show for a wide ranging interview. He was talking Venezuela. He was also talking about a potential court martial for Senator Mark Kelly. Some of those highlights next next on American Sunrise.
Dr. Gina
All right, this is Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. Looks like you could ski there. That's my measure of every snow that we see on our live cams. I'm always like, could I ski there? Because if I could, it could gives me a little happy passing moment. Welcome back to American sunrise. I'm Dr. G. Thanks for joining us. It is time now for today's Health News sponsored by the Wellness Company under the Microscope. Today, the Trump administration released new dietary guidelines. Excuse me. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Has released federal updated dietary guidelines. This urges Americans to eat, quote unquote real food and avoid highly processed foods and added sugars. For the first time, the guidelines call on people to steer clear of packaged processed foods that are salty or sweet, including sodas, candies, energy drinks, chips, things like that. They also set limits on added sugars at no more than 10 grams per meal and emphasize vegetables, fruits, whole grains, healthy fats, high quality protein, especially high quality protein, especially as part of a good diet. The guidelines say improving gut health with fiber rich foods could also reduce chronic disease and lower health care costs. Here's what Secretary Kennedy had to say at the press briefing.
David Brody
These new guidelines will revolutionize our nation's food culture and make America healthy again. For decades, Americans have grown sicker while health care costs have sword. The reason is clear. The hard truth is that our government has been lying to us protect corporate profit taking telling us that these food like substances were beneficial to public health. Federal policy promoted and subsidized highly processed foods and refined carbohydrates and turned a blind eye to the disastrous consequences. Today the lies stop. The new guidelines recognize that whole nutrient dense food is the most effective path to better health and lower health care costs. Protein and healthy fats are essential and we're wrongly discouraged in prior dietary guidelines. We are ending the war on saturated.
Dr. Gina
Fats, healthy saturated fats, especially those in dairy like kefir and butter, things like that. Even all the fats that come off of your meat healthy as long as they are grass fed, as long as there are no seed oils involved, as long as there are no dyes, et cetera. These are the new guidelines that they are talking about. It's a very exciting time to be alive and announce that prevention like grandma told us is actually true. New Year means New Year resolutions and if you are looking to lose weight, get in better shape, have more energy, then drop is what you want to do. Drop is not a gimmick, a crash diet or a quick fix. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was on the Charlie Kirk show, which you can see here daily on rav. It was a wide ranging interview touching on Venezuela and calls to censure Arizona Senator Mark Kelly over he over a video he was in calling on service members. I'll get this out somehow. To oppose illegal orders. Here's part of that.
David Brody
Interviewing Memory. What was it like watching it happen, the apprehension of Maduro and his wife? Like, what's the memory that stands out from that moment? The memory that stands out the most for me was watching the drone feed at the end when you could see the I won't reveal the exact number, but the helicopter helicopters leaving Venezuelan territory over the water and they looked like little ants, little dots on their way out of the country. They have Maduro and his wife indicted individuals and all the Americans are out safely. We had some wounded but no kia. That was the enduring image because everything in between, you know, yes, these are the best of the best. They're trained for it. In fact, the commanders have said they've never been more supported. They've, they've never felt like they've had better intelligence. They've never had clearer and better authorities. They've never been given everything that they need. That's one of the things we're very proud of here at the War Department. We're going to support our fighters, back them up 100%, give them whatever they need, give them the authorities and rules of engagement to be successful. And they had all of that. Still, the enemy on the other side gets a vote. And it was a contested raid, even with the sophistication that went into it. And we watched them hover over. We watched them. We watched the action. Zomb. We watched, you know, Venezuelan manpads get shot while they could potentially try to shoot at helicopters. I mean it was all in real time. But it wasn't until we saw those birds floating out that any of us could really exhale the courage it took for the president to authorize it, the sheer courage and competency of our men and women in the military. Those assaulters, that extraction force, incredible. The best in the world. They went downtown without being heard, without being seen, with no notice, extracted that indicted individual and brought him back to the United States. Only the United States of America could do this mission. Yesterday you announced you're going to seek a reduction in Mark Kelly, Senator Mark Kelly's rank as a result of his statements about possibly defying orders. One of our viewers, Elizabeth, has asked us, she's wondering, she said, why not bring charges against him? She wonders how you reach that decision. Well, we went through the regular process and we have evaluated those statements, not just that one video, which was incredibly reckless. He knew exactly what he was doing. By the way, he was the senior member of that video. He's the only one we have jurisdiction over. Because he's retired, he's receiving a pension money from the government, which means he's still subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. And watching the, I don't know, hissy fit that he's been throwing ever since shows us just how over the target we are. He knew exactly what he was saying. He understands the rules. He understands he's still subject to ucmj. He understood the doubt and uncertainty he was putting into the problem process by vaguely alluding to illegal orders, but never, never pointing to what that would mean underneath the Trump. So he knew and he understands. And the reaction underscores how serious this action is. Reducing a rank or pay is a serious administrative action that sends real signals that we take these things incredibly seriously. So he's got the time, by statute or by directive to reply. We'll review after that. But this is, I don't think anybody should, should, should minimize how significant this is. We don't do it without understanding that. And we're following up by the book. And we'll see what happens.
Dr. Gina
All right, coming up, the Schumer solution. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer says the only solution to health care is an extension of Obamacare subsidies. How will the GOP respond? We're going to break that down next for you right here on American Sunrise. Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Emily Finn. It's now time to stay awake, not woke. And who is woke today? Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. Schumer is digging in on health care and said the only way this gets done is the extension of Obamacare subsidies. As the House is set to vote on that today, here's what Schumer had to say.
Terrence Bates
We're not going to get health care done if the Republicans stay in shambles. They don't have their own plan they're divided on every type of issue, whether to privatize it. Thune and Johnson, the two leaders, said they wouldn't even extend health care benefits by a day, let alone a month, a year. Three months. Three years. So until the Republicans get their act together, we're not going to get anything done on health care.
Dr. Gina
Let's bring in Dr. Gina Terrence and David Terrence, want to go to you first and get your thoughts on this.
Terrence Bates
I would agree with them. There's likely not going to be anything done on health care. But it's not because Republicans don't have a plan. It's because Democrats are so dug in to try to upend any plan that does come, that doesn't include necessarily the extension of Obama subsidies or anything that comes from a Republican perspective. They're just so dug in on that, and their whole policy is to derail any idea that would potentially move this conversation forward, particularly any idea that's brought forward by Republicans. I think it's clear, Dr. Gene and David, that Republicans do have a plan and are ready to work on something and work out a compromise. But Democrats, particularly Chuck Schumer, don't want to compromise.
David Brody
David, what's the plan exactly? I haven't heard.
Terrence Bates
You're saying what's the plan? Republican plan.
David Brody
Yeah. I mean, a compromise, sure, I get that. But what is that? I have no idea. I really don't. I've been searching and searching and, yeah, health savings Accounts and raising the poverty line and maybe doing a little something, but there's nothing been articulated for sure. And this vote in the House is gonna go through today, by the way, because all Democrats are gonna vote for this. This is a discharge petition of what's going on. In other words, Mike Johnson didn't want to bring this up, but four Republicans signed on with the Democrats. And so there's gonna be a House vote today that will increase Obama subsidies for three years or continue Obama subsidies for three years. It's going nowhere in the Senate. And that gets to your point, T. Bates, which is they're trying to work on some sort of compromise, some sort of figure it out in the Senate, but they have no plan, necessarily on paper, at least at this point. To me, the big issue here is the Hyde Amendment. It's always been the Hyde Amendment. This is where President Trump said the other day, they need to be flexible. Republicans need to be flexible, of course, for everybody. Just as a recap, the Hyde Amendment, basically funding to go to abortion, said that if there's new legislation like this, healthcare Subsidy stuff. They've got to have hide amendment protections in there. Republicans are for it. Democrats don't want it in. And Trump is saying, hey, you know, if that's gonna snag the deal, let's be flexible here. No, no, we're not gonna be flexible on the life issues. Sorry, Mr. President, that ain't happening.
Dr. Gina
Well, the Hyde Amendment is certainly not to be understated as a big part of the problem, but the other part of the problem is we have socialist light on the Republican side and we have Communists on the Democrat side. This is all about distribution of wealth. And everybody's for. I'm sorry, not distribution, redistribution of wealth. And everybody is for that, including Republicans, sadly. David, this is about preservation of Obamacare and redistribution of wealth and socialization of a health care system that was never framed to be part of government's role. The role of government is not health care. And I'm sorry, that is not part of your constitutional rights. There is no constitutional right to health care. You have a right to purchase health care. You have a right to get a job and purchase health care. You have a right to have a safety net through your church, your neighborhood, your family, charities, to purchase health care. But you don't have a right for government, for taxpayers to fund your health care. That is not a fundamental right of government. And it doesn't matter how much we talk about it or how good it feels to hand out public dollars so that you can get more votes. That is not real. That is not part of our constitutional rights. And until Republicans start acting like Republicans, we're gonna be in this mess. I agree with you, David. There's no plan.
Terrence Bates
Preach. So there's. I would tend to disagree. I'm not going to say it's a coherent plan or a cohesive plan, but Republicans in the House in particular have worked on some sort of alternative. Maybe that's a better term, some sort of alternative, or are working on some sort of alternative to Obamacare. Again, whether it's a cohesive alternative, whether it's a solid one, I guess we can debate that. But at least they're trying. At least that's the appearance that they're trying. And I suspect, back to my fundamental point, is that Democrats are going to try to do everything possible to derail any effort of a compromise or to move forward, to move this debate forward.
Dr. Gina
Well, how about we talk about what's constitutional for once?
Terrence Bates
Okay, fair enough.
Dr. Gina
And instead of what's a good compromise, let's talk about what our Constitution says. Their purview. Is because they are way outside of that.
David Brody
Yeah. And Terrence, I hear what you're saying. Alternative for sure. I think there's two different things we're also talking about here. Right. An alternative to Obamacare and a plan for the Obamacare subsidies. Because right now that's what Republicans in the Senate right now are trying to get to. Yes. On extending Obamacare subsidies. These are Republicans, not. Not maga Republicans for sure. Maybe some, actually. So just to be clear, that's the plan I was referring to. You're right, though. I mean, there's an alternative alternative to health care, but it has nothing to do with subsidies. So there's two different things here. Yeah.
Terrence Bates
Well, that's fair.
Dr. Gina
The one thing we know for sure is that health care certainly is a bit of a mess for everyday Americans. So hopefully they come to to some kind of solution soon. All right. Coming up, another Hollywood star embracing faith in moments. Find out how comedian and actor Tim Allen is finding his faith. We have those details and more next on American Sunrise.
David Brody
I bless the USA in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
Terrence Bates
Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Terrence Bates. As always, it's good to have you along for the ride. It's now time for our moment of faith, which is brought to us by Lee Greenwood and the God Bless the USA Bible. In focus today, comedian Tim Allen's faith journey. Tim Allen says his faith journey has led him deep into the writings of the apostle Paul, particularly Paul's teaching on law and sin. The home improvement star told comic Bill Maher that Paul challenged him to see law as a way to expose human sin, not just rules to follow. Alan, who has been reading the Bible in depth, said that Paul's perspective has made him rethink morality and human nature. The 72 year old says he is still studying Paul's ideas as part of his spiritual journey. Let's now bring in the executive director of The Providence Forum, Dr. Jerry Newcombe. Dr. Newcombe, welcome to the show. Good to see you.
David Brody
Thank you. Good to be with you.
Terrence Bates
So while the apostle Paul was locked up, was in jail, in prison, Timothy said to him, endure hardship as a true and good soldier. And it seems to me that for many Americans these days, they're still trying to drive their morality with the law of the land and they're having to be good soldiers in endurance.
David Brody
Yes. And it is interesting too to look at Tim Allen and his, you know, particular faith journey and then also Bill Maher, which is interesting. Bill Maher, of course, doesn't claim to be even seeking the Lord. And yet I was on bill Maher's program 25 years ago, four times when it was on ABC TV. And my wife said a very interesting remark. She said, you know, to Chris, to Bill Allen, Christianity is like a sore tooth. It's like something he just kind of, you know, but he still doesn't grasp it. And, and sometimes I wonder, you know, if he ever will. But in the meantime, Tim Allen sounds like in his particular situation, he sounds like he is on a faith journey and being in the Bible lands influenced that. Then also reading and studying the apostle Paul has also influenced him. And so we pray for him to embrace the light. And by the way, one more thing. He said, Tim Allen said, after Erica Kirk so famously said in that beautiful memorial service after her husband was murdered, she said, you know, when I think about Jesus on the cross who said, father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. She said, that young man that took my husband's life, I forgive him. And Tim Allen sent out a tweet soon after. And he said, you know, I was 11 years old when my dad was killed by a drunk driver. And not until this time have I said, God, I Forgive him.
Terrence Bates
Dr. Newcomb, you know, I applaud Tim Allen and anyone who looks at folks faith even from a scholastic point of view. But ultimately, and I'd like you to kind of speak to this, our faith is about relationship. That's where it all starts. Or where it all should start.
David Brody
Yes. And ultimately it's that relationship with Jesus Christ. You were mentioning how Tim Allen realized that sin and the law reveals to us our sin. We're all sinners. Everybody, everybody's a sinner. And including me, including you, including Alexander Scourby, who says in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. But here's the bottom line is that in the fullness of time, God sent his one and only son, Jesus Christ, who was fully God, fully man and lived on planet earth. And sorry, Bill Marr, there's no chance that Jesus was not an historical figure. I mean, he kind of the question. Well, maybe we don't know, you know, that kind of thing. No, no, no. Historians do know, especially when it comes to ancient history. But bottom line is Jesus lived a perfect life and he died for us. God made him Jesus, who knew no sin to be sin on our mind, our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God. And we just passed Christmas. That's what Christmas is all about. Celebrating the gift of eternal life which God has given to us through his son, Jesus Christ, through faith in Jesus Christ. So my prayer is that both Tim Allen and also even Bill Maher himself would one day come to true saving faith in Jesus, just like Saul of Tarsus did. And he became later the Apostle Paul.
Terrence Bates
And I'm going to join you in that prayer then. Dr. Newcomb, always good to see you. Thanks so much for being here with us.
David Brody
Thank you. Appreciate it.
Terrence Bates
Thank you. We're back with the second hour of American Sunrise after this. Coming up on this second hour of American Sunrise, federal and local officials are clashing over what really, really happened during this deadly ice operation in Minneapolis. A 37 year old woman is dead this morning. The federal agent involved not being identified at this point. And the investigation is just getting started. We'll have the latest in our coverage throughout the hour. Plus, the White House is doubling down, even tripling down on its ambitions to acquire Greenland, citing that the frozen landmass importance as a national security asset to deter Russian and Chinese aggression is primary. We'll of course, bring you the very latest in just a moment. And then later, Marjorie Taylor Greene has left Congress, but her seat will reportedly remain empty as Georgia prepares for a special election in the coming months. Those stories and so much more right now on the second hour of American Sunrise.
David Brody
Good morning America.
Dr.
David Brody
I'm David Brody.
Terrence Bates
Hi, I'm terrence.
Dr. Gina
And I'm Dr. Gina.
David Brody
Welcome back, everybody, to the second hour of American Sunrise. I'm David Brody coming to you from D.C. let's bring in Dr. G. She's of course, down in West Palm. And T. Bates in our Denver newsroom. Good morning, guys. Obviously, the big story is in Minnesota with that ICE agent situation as it relates to the shooting death of the woman in the car. And he was about to get run over and all that, you know. So Democrats are really a piece of work here. Their essence, they're making ice out to be the devil, if you will. And yet I look at some of these incidents back in August of now, I guess last year, right? About six months or so ago, a threatening letter was sent to an ICE office in New York City with a white powdery substance. Okay. Three weeks later in Portland, ICE agents, excuse me, the ICE office there in Portland was surrounded by protesters. And guess what they brought out in their protest garb, they brought a guillotine out there. So, you know, cry me a river, Democrats, about what's going on with ICE when you have literally turned the other way and doing not saying a darn thing about some of the threats to our wonderful ICE agents out there. Dr. Garrett.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, it's absolutely true. They're risking their lives every single day to go into the arena that God has set before them and to try to defend the American people. And the irony of the fact that here is likely we don't know this person who did this. I guess we have a name now or who ended up shot, but we have a name now. But the irony is in all likelihood someone from that state that ICE was there to defend. Right? Certainly not to hurt or kill. But the bottom line is this agent had already been run over once and dragged underneath the car before. And this is less than a year ago this happened to this particular ICE agent. This ICE agent followed their training. They did what they were trained to do two different defend the people of the very place where this all happened. And undoubtedly now this agent will be dragged through an entire trial, dragged through the wringer. His family will have to be protected because there will be so many death threats and all the things his life is completely upended after. He's probably just recovered from the last time he was hit and dragged underneath a car. This is ridiculous. Our ICE agents need to be protected and Democrat politicians need to call for an end to this now. And thank God that none of our ICE agents were hurt. My prayers are with them that they continue to be protected.
Terrence Bates
Amen. The fallout from Wednesday's attack there in Minneapolis of course continuing to be felt it was an ICE involved shooting there in Minneapolis. Schools in that particular area are closed today as a safety precaution. Neighbors are also being encouraged to remain calm following a day of protests of the incident. And state and local officials are demanding that ICE leave the state. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem calling the situation a case of domestic terrorism, saying the ICE agent who pulled the trigger was justified because the victim was trying to run him over. You see the video here. In other headlines this morning, President Trump claims that Venezuela will only be purchasing American made products with money at receiving from the new oil deal with the US In a truth social post, the Commander in chief writing the purchases will include everything from agricultural products to American made medicines and medical devices. He also calls the deal a good thing for the people of Venezuela and the United States. Meantime, Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to meet with Danish officials next week to discuss the US's interest in green. The sit down comes as the Trump administration is doubling down on its intention to take over Greenland in order to bolster its U.S. security interests in that Arctic region. Greenland is currently a self governing territory of Denmark, which is publicly rejecting the notion of the US taking over the island. That's a quick check of your headlines. We'll have more coming up momentarily. But first, let's get a quick check of your forecast, whether Nation meteorologists Tracy Anthony standing by with your hometown forecast. I know you have one forecast, Tracy, that's in my general area and my wife just texted me a little while ago and said it's going to snow here this afternoon. Can you confirm or deny whether that in fact is true? Yes, I'm fact checking my wife live on the air. But I've got to do it.
Dr. Gina
You know what? I think Denver's going to get a couple of inches of snow. And if you're in the south metro could even have a few more inches. So you know Denver, increases in elevation. I'm sure you knew that, but maybe.
David Brody
Some of our viewers didn't.
Dr. Gina
We also forecast from Longmont, Colorado. This is From Drawbridge on Gitter, 37 degrees with that snow. So expect a couple inches. You may need to get that shovel out. But they were just at 60 degrees just three days ago. So they've really had those temperatures roller coaster over the last few days. And they're still going to be going.
David Brody
Up and down just like the East Coast.
Dr. Gina
The east coast, though, warm right now. And then they're going to be cooling.
David Brody
Down kind of like Joplin, Missouri.
Dr. Gina
This one sent in on YouTube from Twinkleman71, 70 degrees today. But this is that warmth out in front of a cold front that's going to spark strong to severe thunderstorms. And actually Joplin, you are in that slight risk for severe weather today. So very important to stay weather aware. These areas could have good size hail, winds up to 60 mph and can't.
David Brody
Rule out a quick spin up tornado.
Dr. Gina
And we're going to be tracking this severe weather today, Friday and Saturday here across the south and all the way.
David Brody
To the East Coast.
Dr. Gina
So, Terrence, it's going to be a pretty active end of the week into the weekend.
Terrence Bates
All right. Thanks so much, Tracy. We'll see you tomorrow.
David Brody
Yep.
Terrence Bates
All right, let's get you back over to David now. David, good morning, sir.
David Brody
Good morning, T. Bates. All right. So we are continuing to follow those latest developments following the shooting death of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. We've been talking about it all morning. Here was Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem speaking about this yesterday. Have a look. ICE agents repeatedly ordered her to get out of the car and to stop instructing obstructing law enforcement, but she refused to obey their commands. She then proceeded to weaponize her vehicle and she attempted to run a law enforcement officer over. This appears as an attempt to kill or to cause bodily harm to agents, an act of domestic terrorism. By the way, we should mention that Secretary Noem is set to speak at a follow up press conference in just a few minutes. We were told it's 9am Eastern. We will take you there live when it happens in the meant. Let's get some reaction from the host of America's Voice Live's guy. That would be Steve Gruber because he's got the Steve Gruber Show. That's a great name for a show, by the way, Steve. I approve of that. I agree. So, all right, what do you think? I mean, Secretary Noem says this was a response to domestic terrorism. What are some of your thoughts this morning on all of this? My thoughts are simple on this. Let's focus on something that I have not heard you guys mention yet today. Apparently Governor Tim Wallace thinks it's April 1861. I was live on the air yesterday listening to his press conference and I said, did he really just say he's going to bring in the Minnesota National Guard to go toe to toe with the federal government? I said, I got to go back and listen to that. It's exactly what he said. Tim Walls, by the way, former National Guardsman himself.
Terrence Bates
Think about this.
David Brody
He comes under the universal code of military justice. He could be recalled to duty. And if the National Guard is called out to protect Minnesota, he could be on the front lines. Wouldn't that be a nice little turn of play? Put him right on the front lines and say, which side are you on, Governor? To me it is seditious, it is treasonous, it is traitorous.
Terrence Bates
What he said, does he think that.
David Brody
He'S going to take the Minnesota National Guard and go to war with the federal government? Here's a guy who just think about this, 13, 14 months ago could have been the Vice President of the United States. Thank God he's not. This guy has been the overseer of billions of stolen dollars from taxpayers and now he's calling for the Minnesota National Guard to defend against federal agents doing their jobs and enforcing the laws of this government. This Guy is completely off the rails. And so is the mayor, Jacob Fry. Completely off the rails. I just get the F out of Minnesota. I'm sorry, who do you think you're talking to?
Terrence Bates
They've taken more than 1,000 murderers, rapists.
David Brody
Child traffickers, drug dealers, gang bangers off the streets of Minneapolis in the last few weeks. And they think that they're defending Minnesota. Now, as far as the shooting goes, this is pretty clear. The video that comes from the longer.
Terrence Bates
Video from a distance shows the car hitting the officer.
David Brody
There's a photograph that's circulating on social media. The first shot is right through the middle of the windshield. You know, the idea that he was not in danger is wrong. He had every right to engage. He went through the rules of engagement. He shot a driver who, by the way, was leading an insurrection. They were swarming ICE officers all over that day yesterday trying to interfere. That's why her car is crossways in the road. Look, if you are ordered out of your vehicle. This is a simple civic stuff. If you were ordered out of your vehicle by a law enforcement officer, then you must comply. Here's what I do when I'm pulled over. And yes, I get pulled over on occasion for not obeying the posted speed limit. Here's what I do. I put my hands at 10 and 2, I roll down the window, weather accommodating, and I wait for the officer, the man or the woman to walk up, and I say, yes, Officer, how may I help you? That de. Escalates the situation, but refusing to comply with the lawful orders. And yes, they were lawful orders to. To exit your vehicle, and instead you punch the gas. Nothing good is going to come from that. This woman, sad that she died. She put herself in harm's way. She was leading the folks that day, protesting, she was blocking traffic, interfering with people doing their lawful jobs. Tim Wall should be held to account. The truth should be held to account. But what's more dangerous, my friends, is this. Tim Wall's comments, Jacob Fry's comments have put a target not just on the backs of federal agents in Minnesota, but across this entire country. They're in more danger today than they were yesterday because of the reckless comments of Tim Walls and Jacob Fry, among others. And here we go. The 1960s are calling because this is exactly what happened between the federal government and a state government. And there were clashes back then over civil rights laws. And here we are. This has got danger written all over it. Steve Gruber, we gotta run, but thank you. And I'm glad you brought that up.
Terrence Bates
Thanks, Steve. Common sense.
Dr. Gina
Ten and two, ten and two, ten.
David Brody
And two, 10 and two. All right. I'm steering the show. Coming up, it's a new year and many Americans are feeling the financial strain as bills are due. So after the break, we'll talk about how many Americans are leaving credit card and loan debt behind. Stay with us, everybody.
Dr. Gina
Welcome back to American Sunrise. We are taking a live look at a protest in St. Paul, Minnesota. Protesters out there protesting against ICE. It appears it looks like they have one man they are taking into custody right now. We will be keeping a close eye on this throughout the day and keep you posted on what's happening there in St. Paul. I am Emily Finn. Thank you for tuning in to American Sunrise this morning. The Federal Reserve's latest survey shows banks are tightening their lending standards and many Americans are already feeling the financial squeeze. The holidays are over and now the bills are due. For many, January is a financial wake up call. Now many are wondering what this means for people buried with credit card and loan debt. Joining me now is Gillian Barbr. You know her from television, but what you may not know is that she's lived through this kind of financial stress herself. Jillian, great to have you. Thank you so much for being with us. You know, January can be a financial wake up call for many people, but Americans were already stretched thin before the holidays.
David Brody
It's so true, Emily. You know, we think about, you know, regular years and holidays and spending money for people that are already in debt. It's just an added level of anxiety and stress. And we always say debt isn't just about the cash, it's about your mental health. And I've been there where you're constantly worried about money. So that's where done with debt comes in. And if, if you haven't been there and you are struggling, donewithdebt.com is your answer. Before you pay another bill, just go to donewithdet.com they'll give you a free consultation and read the testimonials. They're quite amazing, the help that these people give. And essentially they break it down like this. They surround you with a team of support immediately, within a day or two, the phone call, stop, the harassing letters, stop. Everything just comes to a halt while they're behind the scenes working on your financial plan for the next year. And in some cases, people come out of this with a few bucks in their pocket, which is amazing. But the bottom line is they're back on the road to financial security. And what people, the average American like myself or like you, Emily, they don't know is that a lot of the banking institutions and the credit card companies will work with you if you have a plan that you can show them. And some of them even will take all of your debt away. Now, I'm not saying all of them, I'm saying some of them. And it depends on how much you ow. But that's something you'll talk to your people about. When I say your people, the done with debt people, I've met them. They're an amazing group of strategists. They've got everything down. They know what they're doing, and they are master negotiators. So having worked with them and having been in the situation, whether it's for you, it could be disease, it could be death. Divorce, I had all of them. Not I had death at the door with the cancer. Divorce. I also had job loss, two kids depending on, dependent on me and me only financially. So there was a lot of stress coming into the household at the time. And I just wish people always say, what, you know, how did you get out? I said, with that. But what was the main thing that you took away? And it was this. I wish I knew about them earlier because had I known, I would have been able to get on track faster and have less anxiety. Because the anxiety can drive you to places that are very dark and you don't see a way out of it. And that's the emotional part of it. Right? So. So that lifts as soon as you know that you've got people behind you that are working for you. Because being in debt is a very isolating and lonely place to be. Nobody. You don't want to say to your friends, oh, I'm this much in debt. You're not going to tell your kids you're acting like everything's okay, but secretly you're freaking out. And I know I'm not alone. That's why I am the face of the company, because I wanted to you put it out there. I've worked with NFL players, I've worked with sitcom stars. I've worked in the news world like you for 35 years. And just because people are of a certain status, you think, oh, they've got it made. They're an NFL player, they're a major league baseball player. No, it can happen to the best of us if people aren't over their finances. And so you've got to stay on top and go to donewithdb.com because we'll give you a free consultation right off the bat.
Dr. Gina
It can happen to anyone. Jillian Barbary, thank you so much for being with us today.
David Brody
Happy New Year. Thank you.
Dr. Gina
Happy New Year to you. And for our viewers, you can learn how to take control of your finances by visiting donewithdebt.com Again, that's donewithdebt.com that website is at the bottom of your screen. Coming up, we're headed down to Wall street for the opening bell and insight into how to hold on to your hard earned dollars with some common sense. We'll be back with more American Sunrise in just two minutes. Stay with us.
David Brody
Foreign.
Terrence Bates
We're back with this live look at Minneapolis, Minnesota protesting continuing their this morning following the deadly shooting involving an ICE officer. A 37 year old woman was killed. Again, ICE saying that the shooting was in self defense. And we've of course been showing the video of the woman trying to ram the officer with her car all morning long. So it seems that the killing was justified. We'll of course continue to talk about this, though, throughout the morning. We're also waiting for Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chris Christy Noem to host her latest news conference on that. It was supposed to start at the top of the hour. At this point it has not started. But the moment it does, we'll take you there live. Meantime, we're getting ready for the opening bell of the New York Stock Exchange. It's set to ring here in just a few minutes. Here's a look at the pre market trading board not looking so hot at the moment. Crude oil is the only thing that's up. Everything else is in the red. But again, we'll take it to New York in the stock exchange for the opening bell in short order and see how things ultimately shape up. Now though, let's get you over to David Brody. David, good morning.
David Brody
Good morning, my friend. All right. Time now for our daily dose of dollars and common cents. And then joining us now with what you need to know about your hard earned dollars and at least keeping those hard earned dollars and making sure your wallet is doing pretty well. That would be Chapwood Investments managing partner Ed Putowski. Ed, good to see you again here on the show. All right. So let's start with this new report by Cox Automotive. They're predicting purchases of new vehicles are actually set to decline in 2026. What kind of light can you shed on this exactly? Because I think they were, weren't they up in 2025 or at least they're not going to do as well in 2026 according to this report. Yeah, 20, 25 car sales exceeded what the expectations were. The question I have is, how does Cox do its research? Because it's very, very difficult to take a survey of everybody and know if they're going to be buying a car. For instance, I just bought a car for my son, but nobody from Cox ever asked me if I was going to buy it or not. So I think the collecting of information is very difficult for companies like Cox. But the reason that this is happening or forecasted is that the price of cars continues to go higher. We're still importing a lot of stuff and there's tariffs involved with parts. So I think the cost of cars are going higher, but the financing of cars is going lower. So you kind of have, you know, kind of two sides here. You got cost of borrowing is going lower, but the cost of the car is going higher. Very similar to what's happening with home prices and buying a house. So you really have to take a look at, you know, what is going to be more important to you, the cost of financing or the cost of the car. All right, so if Cox Automotive is listening, give Ed Butowski a call. That's what you're basically saying. Yeah, I'd like to know. All right, moving to AI. Now we've got that chief Technology officer Palantir saying that it's critical to America's defense and that the missing piece in all of this regarding AI is the speed of development. What's your take on AI and what he's saying? Because this is just dominating the conversation all the time. Yeah, I think AI is going to be sort of like nanotechnology. It's going to be infiltrated into companies. So having AI part of Palantir is exactly what everybody needs to see. You're going to see the speed of transition and productivity speed up. And the faster we are to accomplishing whatever we need to militarily is going to be a big, big deal. So the faster we are, the better off we're going to be. And now it's an arms race to see who can get there faster. US or China or Russia from that standpoint. Yeah, no, that's a good way to say it. An arms race. It's true. Like literally arms dealing with AI. All right, so finally, here's the question, like the head scratching question of the morning. You got United Van Lines releasing its annual National Movers study, and they found that more Americans are moving to. Wait for it, Oregon more than any other state. Wait, what? What is driving this migration, in your view? Do you have Any clue? Because if you do, more power to you. Cuz I'm at a loss. Yeah, I, I'm, I'm completely at a loss. You know, as we stated earlier, it's the home of antifa. You know you have very few reasons to be moving to Oregon. You have a state income tax that's anywhere between 4.4 and 9%. The biggest jobs there are health care jobs but they're nursing home jobs. So these, these are jobs that are internal in the state. So I have absolutely no idea. I mean Oregon's beautiful once you get outside of Portland, but I have no clue as to why this is happening. You know, South Carolina makes more sense. Texas where I am, Tennessee, Florida. But you know, maybe it's the fishing that attracts people or maybe they're just you know, tired of Texas and Florida and, and Tennessee coming up all the time. And now people are saying hey, let's try Portland out. But you know, there, it just doesn't make any sense to me because there is some technology hubs there that yeah are gaining a lot of attention. So maybe they're trying to grow that. But when you have a 4.4 to 9% state income tax, I mean you have a hundred thousand dollar job, you're making far less than, than you. You know that you think So I don't see the benefit of moving there. Unless you love fly fishing. Yeah. Or unless you love obviously antifa protests. You're really underrating the antifa protest there. You know, go there for a great time. Take a seven day vacation to the Portland courthouse. Ed Patowski, thanks for being here. Appreciate it sir. Thank you. Great stuff. All right. Time for more great stuff. That means my friend, my friend. Why am I talking like that? Terrence Bates. He has got the Dow Jones. Sponsored by amac. Together we can write the course of America.
Terrence Bates
The applause at the New York Stock Exchange is underway. Which means we are moments away from the opening bell and the opening of the markets for today's trading. There you have it. Right on cue. The markets are now officially open. Which means the scurrying on the market floor is starting. As those first sales are starting to come in, here's a quick look at how the markets are looking. As you you can see the dow s and P500 are, are down. Excuse me. The NASDAQ is up at the moment. VIX is also in the green gold down and looks like crude oil is back up. It is in the green. So that's how things are looking at the moment. You just saw the NASDAQ go back into the red. So not such a hot start to this day of trading. But we'll continue to monitor it for you throughout the day, though, and keep you updated. Still to come here on AMERICAN sunrise, former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, not Texas, of Georgia, excuse me, her seat will sit empty for months. And the timing couldn't be any worse for House Republicans. With the crowded field, though no endorsement and key votes ahead, the power balance in Washington could be hanging in the balance. We'll discuss. Welcome back to AMERICAN sunrise. We are following the latest developments in the shooting of that woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. She was 37 years old. Homeland Security officials saying the shooting occurred when agents were trying to make an arrest and the 37 year old woman then used her vehicle as a weapon against the officers. You're looking live here at a protest that is ongoing there in Minneapolis as people are continuing to push back operation there in Minneapolis. And of course, now also the killing of that woman who was a suspect who investigators say was trying to run over an agent. Joining us now with more from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building is national political reporter Neal McCabe. Neil, welcome to the show. It's always good to see you. So let's just talk about the reaction at the White House and across Washington, D.C. as we continue to get more information and see the video, of course, of what happened there in Minneapolis.
David Brody
Well, I think one of the things that struck me immediately was the rapid response that Kristi Noem, the Homeland Security secretary, was very quick to come out with her statement. The president came out with a post on Truth Social, basically laying out the case that this was an officer who thought his life was in danger. And he said, hey, this is I support this officer. They immediately called it domestic terrorism. And I think that the administration really has to be credited with how quickly they've put out its narrative because what we've seen in past administrations or even a little bit during Trump 45, is they weren't as quick as the left jumping out and trying to get ahead of these news cycles. And I think now, obviously, when you compare it to what we went through with George Floyd five years ago, enough people now understand how we got rolled during the George Floyd news cycle. And we're not going to get rolled anymore.
Terrence Bates
Hey, Neil, I'm curious if you're at all, if you're at all surprised at the administration's apparent feel that there was a need for narrative. The video seems to speak volumes. It seems to speak for itself. And there shouldn't have to be a narrative. But in this climate, I guess there is a need for someone to explain to those opponents, this is what really happened and this is why it happened.
David Brody
Oh, I know. And it's like in every relationship, right? If she really loves me, she'll understand. No, you actually have to say what is going. You have to say, I love you and I am glad. I'm glad you made me breakfast. You have to communicate. And in this environment, Trump, 47, has been absolutely just on the jump. Like all departments, especially the White House and Homeland Security, ice, these guys have been phenomenal, pushing out messaging, getting that narrative out, communicating to people. This is what we see and this is what we're trying to do. And it's been very helpful because, frankly, a lot of people, they don't. They're waiting for signal from the tower. They want to know what Trump is saying. They want to know what Homeland Security is saying, because many people see themselves as sort of these centers of influence. So when they talk to people in.
Terrence Bates
The office, they talk to people in.
David Brody
Their families, they want to be able to speak intelligently about what's going on, up against what the mainstream media can do with just a tsunami of lies and distortions.
Terrence Bates
Another disturbing element of this story is Minnesota Governor Tim Walz coming out saying that he's considering mobilizing the National Guard to push back against these federal agents who've been deployed to Minneapolis. This, it's almost unthinkable. But again, I guess in this, in this environment that we're in, nothing is off the table.
David Brody
It's really bizarre. Reminded me of when Maryland Governor Larry Hogan was getting Mass Covid masks from Korea, and he said if the federal government came to take his mask, the Maryland State Police would, would defend his mask. As if like, like he was going to have a firefight over these masks. It's like, I don't know if Waltz is really threatening to fire upon federal, federal forces with his Minnesota National Guard. I would be stunned. I deployed to Iraq with the Minnesota National Guard many years ago, and the Red Bulls are loyal, patriotic guys. And I, I doubt very much that they're going to follow Tim Walls over that cliff. I think what these Minnesota people have to Minnesota Democratic leaders have to understand is that a lot of people in Minnesota actually support the President and what the president is supposed to do. And so they can only go so far before the people in Minnesota say, hold on, we're not. This isn't what we signed up for. Tim Walls. Actually, Tim Walls, you're so unpopular in this state, you can't even run for reelection. So maybe you shouldn't be starting a civil war.
Terrence Bates
No, absolutely. Neil. We'll have to leave the conversation there. It's always good to see you, my friend. Appreciate you joining us.
David Brody
All right. Take care, man.
Terrence Bates
All right, we'll talk soon. Let's get you back over to Dr. Gina now for the Political Pulse.
Dr. Gina
Thank you so much, Terrence. There I am. It is now time to take the political pulse of America. The beat. Today, former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's congressional seat seat will remain vacant for at least the next two months as Georgia heads toward a crowded and consequential special election. State officials say the contest to replace Greene will not take place until 10th of March, a potential runoff that will happen in April. Now, that timeline could leave House Republicans a little shorthanded during critical votes. More than two dozen candidates have already filed paperwork, most of them Republicans, turning the North Georgia race into a free for all with national implications. Greene said she will not endorse a successor, adding another layer of uncertainty to an already pretty chaotic field. Joining us now with reaction, Georgia Congressman Rich McCormick. McCormick. Congressman, good morning.
David Brody
Good morning. Good to be with you.
Dr. Gina
Good morning. Good to have you. Happy New Year. We are already looking at a very crowded field for this special election. And mtg, keeping her powder dry, refusing to endorse a candidate. That might complicate it just a little bit more. What do you, what do you say? What do you think is going to happen?
David Brody
Well, it's not unusual to not endorse. I mean, I don't remember last time an outgoing congressman endorsed somebody. It's pretty rare, unless it's your chief or somebody very close to you. It's going to be Republican. It's a heavily Republican district, so. So that's okay. It's just the waiting period that we're going to be challenged with with legislation with essentially a one vote margin. Very precarious situation. We lost three Republicans in one day. We have one that actually passed away. Doug Malfa will be dearly missed. You know, California's gonna delay that vote as long as possible, as long as they can legally. Newsom's not gonna be working with us on that. Then we had another person actually get in an automobile accident, rolled his car. He's 80 years old. Jim Baird, amazing guy, Vietnam veteran, had survived losing an arm previously, but he's getting up there and so I worry about his health as well, but I hope he will recover quickly. But we're going to be in precarious situation as far as the success for Marjorie. The thing that I'm worried about is in Georgia. We're a swing state whether we want to admit it or not. We're a state that has 47% minority. We are fighting over the heart and soul of the future of America as well as Georgia. I want somebody in that seat that's going to grow the party. We have enough firebrands in the party, enough people who get on media. I want someone who's going to appeal to people, not just get people to show up to vote, but actually grow the party, convert people. We can't do that by calling people idiots. You can't get somebody the Bible study by punching them in the face. It's time to have that appeal to people, to realize that conservatism is them, that it appeals to people because it makes sense, that it helps small businesses, it helps people get out of poverty, it helps people with the American dream. That's what I want to see when I talk about her successor. Yeah, I just heard punch in the face and Bible study in the same sentence. Nicely played by the way.
Terrence Bates
Congressman.
David Brody
Good job. All right, the House set to vote today on renewing these enhanced health care insurance Obamacare subsidies that expired at the end of last year. I mean, this is a discharge petition. Thanks a lot for Republicans. So what's going on here? Cuz they want to extend it for three years. It's gonna pass. Where are you on all of this? What is the plan by Republicans? And when I say the plan. Terrence and I were talking about this earlier, right. There are two different deals here. Right. You might have an alternative to Obamacare. Right. In terms of healthcare savings accounts and all that stuff. Stuff that's fine. But also address not just that, but is there some sort of deal in the works on Obamacare subsidies? Because I know in the Senate they're working on some sort of compromise deal.
Dr. Gina
And MTG was spearheading a lot of this by the way.
David Brody
Correct? Yeah. This is the problem. You'll never out left the left. This is all by design of the Democrats. We've seen that everything they've done now is coming to a conclusion to this pointed end where you have a ridiculously expensive system that's not made for the American people. It was made so that a single payer system would take over. In other words, the government would supply all the health care. It's the most expensive and least competitive way to deliver health care. It's always been the problem, not the solution. Insurance companies make 230% more in net profits than they did before the Affordable Care Act. Your premiums have gone up by almost 100%, not to mention your co pays, your surprise billing, all the things. Insurance companies are the bad guys right now. They deny a third of all claims, which increases the administrative costs for all health care. I can go into this all day long why the Obama health care plan was the worst system we could ever possibly do, but fixing it is incredibly difficult because they want to blame us for their problem. Like this reminds me of why the Democrats blame racism on the Republican Party, a party that was founded on abolition. It's crazy. This is. This is their misdirection. They always do this. They create the problem, then they blame us for it because we can't fix their problem. It's our fault for some reason. But we know the reason we can't fix it is because the Senate will not work with us to pass real substantial regulatory differences so we can get rid of the regulatory burden of health care, to make it competitive again. Because everything that's paid out of pocket has stayed cheap. Everything that paid through insurance has gotten expensive and everything's been forced by this insurance conglomerate, by the Obama. What's the Republican plan? To have competition to allow small businesses to band together to actually come and actually deal so you don't have to do individuals buying your health care premiums to have where you can pay out of pocket through health care savings plans where you can actually pay cash, which is vastly cheaper to allow you to actually have options rather than just one insurance company to make. Make states able to deliver competition between insurance companies rather than just a few insurance companies which work together, collaborate together to force the price point up. There's a lot of different plans. The problem is getting anything past the Senate. They don't want to pass. They don't want a solution. They want an issue that's absolutely the bottom line of all this. They love the issue because then they try to blame it on us because we're in control of all three. No, we're not. You need at least seven Democrats to cross over to pass anything and they're going to hold it up on purpose.
Dr. Gina
Congressman Richard McCormick, we appreciate it. Thanks for being with us.
David Brody
Thanks. Always a pleasure. Semper Fi.
Terrence Bates
Thanks so much.
Dr. Gina

Let's spill some tea.
Dr. Gina

Again, that website is artillerytco.com it's premium tea, mission driven and brewed for the brave. Time to spill some tea. And in the cup. Today, a heated moment inside a Massachusetts city hall is now drawing national attention after the husband of a sitting member of Congress physically intervened with a reporter during questioning. Representative Ayanna Pressley was being asked about alleged childcare fraud in Minnesota when her husband, Conan Harris, a former felon who served a decade in prison, slapped a phone out of a reporter's hand. The incident was all caught on camera. Take a look.
David Brody
Congresswoman Presley, do you support. Sir. Get my phone out of my head, sir. Congressman Pressley, do you support President Trump investigating Somali Chinese child care fraud in Minnesota?
Dr. Gina
The Incident comes as the Trump administration moves to freeze billions in federal child care funding across several blue states, citing fraud concerns and payments to undocumented immigrants. For more, let's bring In David Brody, Dr. Gina and Terrence Bates. Terrence, I've been a reporter in those situations before. I mean, that was pretty aggressive.
Terrence Bates
It's assault. It's literally, seriously, like, I'm not. It's assault. When you touch a reporter, if you touch a camera, if I'm a photographer, if you touch my camera, it is technically assault. And in this particular case, particularly since his wife is a public figure, you know, the expectation is that you're going to be asked questions. And the expectation for us, from us as reporters, is that you would answer those. But even if you choose not to answer it, your security or you even as the congressperson, this particular case is security. You can't touch our camera. You can't knock it out of our hands. That is assault. And I would encourage the reporter and his photographer, the photographer there to file charges. It is assault, David.
David Brody
Yeah, for sure. And my ego would like to talk. Do not touch my camera, by the way, to be clear. Absolutely. Just so you know. So, hey, a couple things. First of all, when I talk to Democrats, yes, I do talk to Democrats, Democrats, and they start to list all of their TDS complaints about Trump. They say this, and they say this, and they say this, and then I come back with, well, let me explain. And I get one sentence out. I don't wanna talk about it. I don't wanna talk about it. I don't wanna talk about it. And they leave. That's what we just saw there. You know what? Like, literally, we don't wanna take questions. You know, these people are not even a paragraph deep.
Dr. Gina
Dr. G. You know, I have so many problems with this. Number one, she's copying Terrence's hairstyle, and I don't believe she has permission. Number two, she is arrogant.
Terrence Bates
I feel attacked right now.
Dr. Gina
Dr. Gina, wait, you're not attacked. I'm attacking her. I mean, look at that.
Terrence Bates
I'm just messing with you.
Dr. Gina
And number two, she is so arrogant, she thinks she is above. And her husband apparently joins her in thinking this. Above being arrogant questions by a free press, that's her job. That is her job. Number three, she is part of the problem that occurred yesterday. This is the reason why so many of these agitators and professional protesters are going too far, getting violent. When they see violence like this by an office holder. What makes you think you can't go ahead and Keep driving when an ice agent is trying to stop you. That is a logical conclusion to somebody dumb enough to believe the things that these people believe to begin with. So, yeah, totally agree, Gina. She definitely has to have a conversation and get her husband in check. But I will say she has alopecia. So I am proud of her that she rocks the bald look. As a fellow woman, it's definitely tough. I got my hair extensions in, so I have to give her a little shout out for her bravery with that. I didn't know that Congresswoman Presley commendable that she's willing to rock it. I think I'd be, I don't know, doing something different because Terrence has a patent on that. I heard.
David Brody
Too funny.
Dr. Gina
All right. Now, still to come on American Sunrise, a record year for manatee rescue in Florida. Zoo Tampa returns more than two dozen rehabilitated manatees to the wild as boat strikes and habitat loss put the species at risk. That's all next after the break. Stay with us. All right. Welcome Back to American Sunrise. I'm Dr. G. Thanks for joining us today. Time now for our Sunny side up in the Pan Today, an inspiring story from right here in Florida. In 2025, Zoo Tampa released a record 26 rehabilitated manatees back into Florida waters, the most in the organization's history. This highlights its critical role in protecting one of Florida's most beloved and vulnerable species, manatees. I love them. Boat strikes and habitat loss continue to threaten manatees across the state. The work being done at Zoo Tampa's Manatee Critical Care center is saving lives and offering a glimpse into the future of wildlife conservation. Oh, my gosh, David, I love this so much. And I have to show you because my son literally, he's up in Crystal river right now. He literally just sent me a video of a, I don't know if you can see it, of a little manatee that he's looking at right off the dock there. It could be one of those manatees, I don't know. But we see him all the time here in Florida. And I love, I hop in the water and swim with them. You're probably not supposed to do that, but I just love to look at their babies. I love to see them down on the water level. And they are the biggest, gentlest. I'm not advising people jump in the water and swim with them, but people do, let's just say, and I think as long as you're not harassing them or whatever, that's the important thing because they are very important to Our Florida wildlife, we love them so much.
David Brody
Gina, you know my question to you, and it's obligatory.
Terrence Bates
I know it.
David Brody
Do you have a pet manatee?
Dr. Gina
Well, I can't keep one because I don't have a salt tank that big, but if I could, I guess that.
David Brody
Would be a problem.
Terrence Bates
See, if I.
Dr. Gina
If I could.
David Brody
No.
Dr. Gina
You know what? I do have a sea turtle, though, that every single day when I get home from work, I go straight out on the dock, glance to my left, there's this little mossy rock patch. The sea turtle has lived there since he was a tiny baby. All the years that I've lived there, he's growing every year, and he's always there. They must be really territorial or something, because he is always there.
David Brody
Terrence, we need to somehow start a contribution for a salt tank for Gina, don't you think? I mean, I feel. Yes.
Dr. Gina
Yes. I think that's a human right. Yes. In the pursuit of happiness. In the Constitution, Gina should have a large salt tank in her house. Oh, my gosh.
David Brody
If you have a right to vote, you have a right to a salt tank. That's right.
Dr. Gina
All right, you guys, listen up.
David Brody
War room.
Dr. Gina
Coming up next. Hug your children. Love God. Just take care of those manatees out there. Go. Boldly now. Live the truth. This is an I Heart podcast. Guaranteed human.
