Dr. Gina
This is an iHeart podcast. Just ahead on American Sunrise. The sun is up in our nation's capital while the government is shut down. How long will this go on? Who's to blame? We're going to take you to Washington, D.C. for answers. Plus, President Trump, secretary for Pete Hegseth. Both offer their visions for the military. Get back to basics. How is it received by service members? Well, we have some reaction. And the NFL has chosen rapper Bad Bunny, whoever that is, for the super bowl halftime show. MAGA is furious. At least those who know who they are. What does this mean for the NFL? Well, we have those stories. So much more than American Sunrise starts right now.
David Brody
Good morning, America.
Dr. Gina
Welcome to American Sunrise. Whether it's culture, we have breaking news to share with you.
Terrence Bates
Politics.
David Brody
President Trump is joining us live now from Florida.
Terrence Bates
We've got you covered.
David Brody
This is what it looks like to be a patriot.
Terrence Bates
We have to protect the American family.
Dr. Gina
The American dream is still alive.
David Brody
I'm David Brody.
Terrence Bates
I'm terrence.
Dr. Gina
And I'm Dr. Gina. Good morning. I'm Dr. Gina. And apparently I am completely not in the know on all things pop culture, because Colin in our control room tells me that Bad Bunny is so popular that I absolutely know his songs and don't know that I know his songs, which wouldn't surprise me. We are live with you from Palm Beaches. Let's bring in David brody in Washington, D.C. and T. Bates in our Denver newsroom. Good morning, gentlemen.
Terrence Bates
Hey, good morning. Good morning. You know, I kind of cringe when people call him a rapper. As a rap fan, I don't consider Bad Bunny a rapper. I would say a reggaeton artist or something like that, but technically, in my mind, a reggaeton. Reggaeton. It's kind of a Caribbean slash Latin.
Dr. Gina
Okay, well, I clearly need to get. I need to turn off the news at some point, Terrence, and pay attention to Entertainment Tonight. Is that even still a thing?
Terrence Bates
Gosh, you know what, Dr. Gina? Playing reggaeton in the background while you're watching the news, I'm telling you, hey.
Dr. Gina
Girl, I'm a country girl, and that's country. Christian music and hymns. That's all I listen to. I'm not gonna be listening to you Rigafoni or whatever.
David Brody
Rigafony.
Dr. Gina
I like to eat bugs.
David Brody
Funny.
Terrence Bates
That is hilarious. Well, look, one of the things that I'm sure you've seen this morning then, Dr. Gina, since you are such a news buff, is headlines about the government shutdown. Fox News has this headline which reads, government shuts down After Congress deadlocks on spending deal, of course, the Senate TR to pass another clean CR yesterday late and it did not pass. So we are shut down. Chuck Schumer writing on X. It's midnight. That means the Republican shutdown has just begun because they wouldn't protect Americans health care. We're going to keep fighting for the American people, he writes. Republicans, of course, calling this the Schumer shutdown, saying this is all on Chuck Schumer. So David, why don't you weigh in first? Where is this thing headed? And obviously, I suspect it's no big surprise. We all knew it was happening.
David Brody
We knew it was happening. We said it for weeks. Grab a seat. It's going to be a while, though. John Thune, the Senate majority leader, will go ahead and take vote after vote, day after day to try to get more Democrats to get there. What I mean by that, just so we have the Math, you need 60 votes to break the logjam in the Senate. They're going to be Even though there's 53 Republicans, it'll really be 52 because Rand Paul is a no. So you need eight Democrats. And yesterday they got three Democrats. They got Fetterman Mastro's court, Cortez Mastro, excuse me, and Angus King, who caucuses with the Democrats even though he's an independent. That's 55. So what th is going to do is continue every single day to try to pick off some of those maybe not as far left in terms of the Democrat Party and see if they can get to 60. We'll see. By the way, Gina and Terence, quick little update from DC if you're coming here, as they like to say, check your local listings as to what's open, specifically the National Archives, for example, closed this morning in D.C. until further notice. That's, of course, where the Declaration of Independence and many of our documents are. But the Smithsonian is open at least through October 6th. The National Zoo is open. Of course your mail is still going to be delivered. Social Security, Medicare, those payments are going out. Irs, shockingly, or maybe not shockingly, will continue to operate. Of course, they'll still take our taxes even though the government shut down.
Dr. Gina
Dr. G. Yeah, of course they will. Whenever I hear, whenever we get to this point where there's going to be a shutdown or, you know, a threatened shutdown and people start listing off all the things that are closed, I'm thinking we pay for that to be open every day. How about, how about, I mean, have you ever when you're in Washington, D.C. even when you were first There as a tourist. Did you really go to museums every single day? How about they're open, I don't know, Monday, Wednesday, Friday. We save all that expense. I'm just saying, like, it's not necessarily the Smithsonian I'm talking about, but I'm just talking about all the things, all the expenses. When they start listing them off, my mind always goes to how about we call, how about we don't bring them back? But I know that's not where a lot of Americans minds are. And I'll tell you what, the Democrats are going to weaponize this. This is their, their last great hope for real. They are hoping this shutdown can bring them some votes in the midterms. Because, folks, this is all they got. Let's check out today's Bible verse. It's from Matthew 11:28. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you our rest. And our refuge is in the Lord on the days where we are tiredest. Most of all, those are the days we can cling to him the hardest and get the most strength. Also making headlines, President Trump signing executive orders. Wraps on Brian Glenn. Oh, my goodness, is he in the Oval Office these days for this event? Had an exchange, had a lot of exchanges actually yesterday, pretty much. President Trump, I think, is Brian's bff. But take a listen to this.
Terrence Bates
What is your message to America? That this potentially could bring us all together, get us on the same page and have unity. And I'd like to see if some of the kids or the parents have what it means to you to see President Trump get involved. Well, we've made tremendous strides in cancer research, far more than anyone has done. And we have the greatest minds, the greatest people working on it. And childhood, you know, they call it childhood cancer. It's a very specific thing. And we've really made a lot of, a lot of progress.
Dr. Gina
Let's bring in the man behind the voice. That is Rav's own chief White House correspondent, Brian Glenn. Bryan, like I said, lots of news today, but I think you're President Trump's favorite media dude. I don't think there's any debate about that. You stole the show again yesterday. I want you to tell us about that. But also I want you to talk about this government shutdown for just a second because will it be different than other years in the past where the party in control invariably got the blame by all news media? Because this time it feels a little different. But the Democrats, they're going for that jugular for sure.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, it does feel a little different. Let me go over some of the hardest hit here. The EPA, 89% furloughed. That's around 13,000 employees. Education 87, commerce at 81, labor at 76. As many Americans go about their day, they'll start to kind of realize that, well, maybe this government shutdown doesn't affect me as much as I've told it was going to affect them as much now just recently they'll continue to have votes, by the way, to try to pull more Democrats to support this. As of lately, I think they pulled three more Democrats to vote for the gop. So we'll see exactly as that total ends up. The total damage. If you're looking at roughly 500,000 plus federal workers will sit home without pay as the no deal was reached by midnight. So I think it is going to play a little differently this time because it is about essentially extending those health care benefits to illegal aliens and migrants. And that's something obviously, I think the base, the American people just quite honestly don't understand. So if that's the Hill they want to die on, then that's it. But the last time we did this, we went 35 days. It was in December over the holidays, which is a little different than it is right now. I do, I don't think we're going to go that long. I think we do get this done probably, I would say in a couple weeks, to be honest with you. I think everyone's going to kind of find a place in the middle. We'll get this done and get this government back open. But it will to your point, I heard you guys say earlier, you know, there's a lot of things that you don't realize that do these, do we really need seven days a week opening for some of these museums and some of these parks? I mean, why can't we just like the mail? You look at the mail service, that's been debated for a long time how many days we should offer the mail service. So I don't know. See?
David Brody
Yeah. And speaking of headaches for the Democrats, I mean, they've got to take Pepto Bismol on this and then they have a situation where President Trump and Pete Hegseth doing their best. General C. Patton, look yesterday. There it is. Look at that. That's a beautiful shot. President Trump laying out how he wants the military to return to fitness and strength. Take a look at this.
Terrence Bates
We're bringing back a focus on fitness, ability, character and strength.
David Brody
And that's because the purposes of American.
Terrence Bates
Military is not to protect anyone's feelings. It's to protect our republic.
David Brody
And it's the republic that we dearly love.
Terrence Bates
It's to protect our country. We will not be politically correct when it comes to defending American freedom. And we will be a fighting and winning machine. We want to fight. We want to win.
David Brody
I tell you what, with everything announced yesterday by Pete Hegseth, the war secretary, and Trump, you got to wonder if a wellness check is not needed for the far left right about now. They can get 10% off, by the way.
Terrence Bates
Use a.
David Brody
Promo code. I think we lost you. He was going to talk about a promo code.
Dr. Gina
I have a quick trivia question for you both regarding general patent, because you're right, that, that did hearken back to General Patton. While we're waiting to fix Brian's audio, do you all know what breed of dog General Patton is famous for having?
Terrence Bates
Is it a.
David Brody
No, I do not know.
Dr. Gina
It is an English bull terrier.
David Brody
Oh, wow.
Terrence Bates
Don't ask. Why would I know? Don't ask me how I know that. When you said it, I was like.
Dr. Gina
English boiled bull terriers. They are legendary. Clowns and cavaliers. I know I have a weird dog breed knowledge. I don't know why I figured it.
David Brody
Wouldn'T be a poodle.
Dr. Gina
By the way, yeah, English bull terrier, considered a gentleman's dog back then. They're the Spuds McKenzie dog with the big nose, better known as the target dog these days. But in those days it was General Patton's dog. Brian, we're gonna thank you for your time and let you go because we're gonna have him.
David Brody
Is he back there?
Terrence Bates
He is.
David Brody
I'm ready to say goodbye. See you later, Brian. No, just kidding.
Terrence Bates
I'm blaming the audio on the government shutdown. Apparently the audio cable is attached to the government. Therefore we. We ran out of audio space. No, but I think just to wrap it up, I think bringing back this, the physical standards, I got three text messages from friends that enlisted in the military back in the early 80s and they said, look, we love that it's going back to the standard to make us the toughest and most fierce military on planet Earth.
Dr. Gina
No facts.
Terrence Bates
Brian, really quickly, really quickly, because this was something that President Trump or that came out really last week, but we haven't heard a lot about. Now that the government has shut down, what's going to happen with those firings again? All the departments were told to kind of make an assessment and that there could be mass layoffs. What's the latest on that. Has there been any talk around the White House related to that? Not. Not as of right now, but I would imagine a little bit later this afternoon. Carolyn Levitt has a 1pm press conference. I would imagine that will come up. And programming note, I am traveling with Pam Bonnie today and the department secretary of War, Pete Hesack. We're going to Memphis to kind of do a walkthrough to get ahead of the National Garden, all the troops that are be there on the ground in Memphis. So stay tuned for that. We'll drop in throughout the afternoon hours to give you updates from Memphis.
David Brody
Nice.
Terrence Bates
Don't go to A and R bar. Do go to A R barbecue. Don't go to rendezvous because they feed you with plastic forks. For that kind of money, I want some silverware. Just me. Sorry. Fat guy. Fat guy problems. Yeah.
Dr. Gina
All right.
Terrence Bates
I'm a fat guy as well. Thank you very much.
Dr. Gina
All right, you guys, Brian, thank you again for your time. Coming up, we're going to check out the hottest headlines from the RAP newsroom with tbase. And later, President Trump gives Hamas just days to accept or deny the proposed peace deal. Will they take it closing in on his timeline? And we have some hints just ahead on American Sunrise. Foreign.
Terrence Bates
This news break is brought to you by amac, association of Mature American Citizens.
David Brody
There's the Capitol. We've got a government shutdown, folks. It is going down. Actually, it's going down right now because it's happened. We'll have continuous updates throughout the next couple hours and all day here on Real America's Voice. Welcome back, folks. And by the way, thanks for joining us. Join us, by the way, on YouTube. Just get right in there. Type real America's voice. Type American Sunrise. We'll come right up and join us in the chat. Also on Rumble Getter X everywhere. All right, coming up, how about Pete Hegseth yesterday? We've got to talk about this. I mean, the only thing missing from his speech was him running through a some sort of like paper apparatus like on a football game on Friday night. I mean, my goodness, talk about testosterone. Impressive. We'll talk about it in a moment. T. Bates, though, standing by with the latest headlines from the Real America's Voice newsroom.
Terrence Bates
Sponsored by amac, the association of Mature American Citizens is the conservative voice for Americans 50 and older. AMAC is fighting for the values that you hold dear. Join today together. Together we can right the course of America. The White House will host its latest press briefing this afternoon. And as you can imagine, the current government shutdown will likely dominate the questions that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt will be peppered with. In the meantime, about 750,000 federal employees are reportedly not showing up for work today thanks to being furloughed. Some are even facing the prospect of of being fired outright. Republicans blame congressional Democrats for holding government hostage, specifically government funding over demands for funding expiring over demands, excuse me, for funding expiring health care subsidies that are expected to raise insurance premiums for millions of Americans. A last ditch effort to keep the government open failed on Tuesday when the Senate couldn't get the 60 votes necessary to avoid the current shutdown. A continuing resolution that already passed in the GOP led House only garnered 53 votes in the Republican majority Senate, with most Democrats refusing to cross the aisle to get the measure across the finish line. Amid the government shutdown woes, President Trump is celebrating a bit of a victory this morning when it comes to saving Americans money on prescription drugs. Tuesday, the commander in chief announced a deal with drug makers Pfizer to lower the cost of the company's prescription drugs for millions of Medicaid patients across the country. 47 says prices will soon be more in line with what the rest of the world pays. Pfizer CEO admits the United States has unfairly shouldered the cost burden of lower drug prices in other countries. Today we are turning the tide and we are reversing an unfair situation. For years, other rich nations refused to pay the fair share for the medical innovation and as a result, Americans had to assume disproportional cost on their shoulders. This situation we all knew is not sustainable. This situation is a situation that many wanted to change but no one could. This is changing today with this agreement. Pfizer will also participate in the Trump administration's new Trump RX website, which will allow people to buy medicines directly from the manufacturers. The site is set to still be in the works. All right, let's get a quick check of your forecast with Weather Nation meteorologist Tracey Anthony Tracy. Another big story out there are those two hurricanes that are really blowing towards the east coast or at least bringing some problems to parts of the east coast, specifically North Carolina. Good morning.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, you know we're going to continue to have some high surf advisories and some coastal flooding. But Terrence, this is the first time we've had two hurricanes in the Atlantic basin this close in proximity since the 1960s. So as of yesterday, just about 500 miles apart. But Umberto, this hurricane is slowly starting to weaken. And as it weakens, Imelda is going to kind of eat up all of that energy. So that's actually going to help fuel Imelda as this storm system gets closer to Bermuda. So Bermuda definitely expecting some direct impacts, could have winds 80 to 100 miles per hour. So they're going to be hit pretty hard.
Emily Finn
The island is right in the crosshairs.
Terrence Bates
Of Imelda, right in that path.
Dr. Gina
But the east coast, for us, it's.
Terrence Bates
Still going to be the high surf.
Dr. Gina
Advisories and coastal flooding as the coastal inundation could be two to three feet.
Emily Finn
And that is causing some big concerns.
Terrence Bates
For areas like North Carolina.
Dr. Gina
They've been dealing with several systems that have stayed offshore. But Terrence, it's continued to cause some issues. We're going to break that down a little bit later here this morning and kind of talk about those coastal impacts. But the good news is both of these systems starting to push farther away from our coastline.
Terrence Bates
All right, Tracy, appreciate it. I'll check in with you in about an hour to see if anything has changed. Thanks so much.
Dr. Gina
Sounds good.
Terrence Bates
All right, folks, up next, President Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth laying down the law when it comes to the future of our military. In moments, a breakdown of what that future looked like both physically and from a policy standpoint. First, though, according to quick look at this day in history. It was on this date in 1933 that Babe Ruth made his final Major League baseball pitching appearance in a season ending game at Yankee Stadium. The Babe pitched all nine innings against his former team, the Boston Red sox. He secured a 6, 5 victory, completing a rare feat for the then 38 year old slugger. But the Babe wasn't just a force on the mound that day. He was also showcased by hitting with or. He also showcased his hitting power by launching his 34th home run of the season in the fifth inning. And it was a nice way to end his illustrious career. More American Sunrise swinging for the fences.
David Brody
Right after this breaks. You're out at the old ball game. Hey, have you heard the government shutdown? Hello, U.S. capitol. You look nice on the outside, but you downright dirty on the inside. Why do I have an accent dirty? Anyhow, welcome back everybody to American Sunrise. How about President Trump and Pete Hegseth yesterday at Quantico saying basically we're doing things much differently in the military and they brought all of the top military brass across the country. No conference call for this. We're going to do this in person. President Trump said the main mission of the military is to defend the homeland. Take a look at this but together.
Terrence Bates
With many of you in the room, we've brought back the fundamental principle that defending the homeland is the military's first and most important priority. That's what it is. Only in recent decades did politicians somehow come to believe that our job is to police the far reaches of Kenya and Somalia while America is under invasion from within. We're under invasion from within.
David Brody
All right, for more, let's bring in retired US Navy officer and the executive director of the association of the United States Navy. That would be our good friend, Lieutenant Secretary Steven Rogers. Did I call you Steven? We call you Steve. It's casual, right, Steve? Yeah.
Terrence Bates
Being a cop, I was called. Being a cop, I was called a lot of names. So he called me what you want.
David Brody
That's right.
Dr. Gina
Yeah.
David Brody
I go on social media and I've. Yeah, I know what you're saying. All right, so this speech yesterday, first of all by Hegseth, then by President Trump, I mean, talk about a new sheriff in town. What do you make of that? And I wonder what the military brass is making of it in terms of the grumblings or maybe some folks are getting on board. What do you think? What do you think the fallout from all this will be?
Terrence Bates
How about overwhelming support from the United States military from the highest ranks, all the way down to those who are.
David Brody
On the fields and on the countries.
Terrence Bates
That are deployed around the world?
David Brody
Let me share this with you.
Terrence Bates
During his time, President Lincoln said that.
David Brody
They were living in extraordinary times, and.
Terrence Bates
It took extraordinary measures to write the course for the country.
David Brody
And that's exactly what President Trump and.
Terrence Bates
The Secretary of War has done. We're living in extraordinary times. No one can doubt that.
David Brody
So it took extraordinary measures to stand.
Terrence Bates
Up, to have the courage and the guts to do what has to be done to right the ship, especially when it comes to our national defense.
Dr. Gina
Yeah. I'll tell you, the people upset about this, David, are the news broadcasters who are white, female, upper class, overprivileged, overeducated. Those are the only people upset about what Pete Hegseth said. Mark my words, if you watch, if you flip around channels, that's all you'll see is them. Just. They're in crisis. But another thing, as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth laid out for his vision is something we thought was interesting for the military. Take a listen.
David Brody
Frankly, it's tiring to look out at combat formations or really any formation, and see fat troops. Likewise, it's completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals in the halls of the Pentagon and leading commands around the.
Terrence Bates
Country, in the world.
David Brody
It's a bad look. It is bad.
Terrence Bates
And it's not who we are.
David Brody
So whether you're an Airborne Ranger or a Chairborne Ranger, a brand new private or a four star general, you need to meet the height and weight standards and pass your PT test. And as the chairman said, yes, there is no PT test. But today, at my direction, every member of the joint force at every rank is required to take a PT test twice a year, as well as meet height and weight requirements twice a year.
Terrence Bates
Every year of service.
Dr. Gina
All right, Ms. Dnc, Chicken noodle news, Steve, losing their wigs over this one. But one thing that someone brought to my attention that I thought was very interesting was possibly laying off of this just a little bit and allowing some older retired folks to come in and cover some of the things to bring that kind of institutional knowledge. So is this something that you've heard about that's in the works or not? Because I thought this was a super interesting question to bring back in some of the older people who wouldn't maybe not need to pass the rigorous physical requirements, but who would be able to provide some of that institutional knowledge and, and some security because we all know security has become such a much more increased need.
Terrence Bates
Well, look, if they call individuals who are retired, who have stayed the course.
David Brody
And who have been trained like I was trained back in the 80s and 90s, I don't see a problem with that. However, we should never lower our standards.
Terrence Bates
I've got to tell you, when I was in, I've heard reports of some sailors on submarines, for example, that were so overweight they could not actually go through some of the stairwells in some of the close quarters to travel around. I mean, we have to be combat ready all times, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. So when it comes to the physical standards, when it comes to the training.
David Brody
We all should be really up to.
Terrence Bates
Par with the best and the brightest.
David Brody
So look it, you want to bring.
Terrence Bates
Some people in, fine.
David Brody
I mean, I law for myself to.
Terrence Bates
Come in and do some training and help out along those ways, but you see the way I'm fit. Well, you don't see my belly there. Terrence, I know you're probably saying this guy may be a little overweight, but the fact of the matter is I'm physically fit, mentally able, emotionally ready. And not just me, but those of us who were trained years ago, we're still up to par and we're ready to serve our country. Steve, I'm not one to belly Shame, because I've got a pretty big one myself. So I won't go there with you. I did have another question that I wanted to ask you about Hamas, but I want to follow up about your whole idea of being combat ready because it seems to me, and one of the things that Pete Hegseth said yesterday is that this was about making sure that our fighters are war ready and not in a defensive posture. This is a reimagining if you will, or it's a change of the paradigm when it comes to how we see our military. And I think it feeds in to the name change to the War Department from the Department of Defense. Absolutely right.
David Brody
Look, I'm a, I joined the Navy Reserves, okay. So here I'm a detective lieutenant in.
Terrence Bates
An ultimately police department department. Back around 911 I get a call from a captain down there in Norfolk. He says get ready. Two weeks you're gone. And within two weeks I had to go. I was deployed, served my country and to your point, I was combat ready because they made sure during my training over those reservist weekends and the two weeks a year out at sea, etc. That I was ready to go at a moment's notice.
David Brody
So we in the reserves, whether you're.
Terrence Bates
In the Marines, Navy, etc. You're ready to go to war.
David Brody
And regarding the change of Secretary of.
Terrence Bates
Defense to Secretary of War, Defense Department, the War Department, what I mean that's.
David Brody
Part of I think our psychops psychological.
Terrence Bates
Warfare which is excellent. We're letting our friend and foe alike.
David Brody
Know that we are ready for war.
Terrence Bates
You want to mess with us?
David Brody
Well you're going to regret that you ever did that. We're ready. Steve Rogers, really wonderful analysis. And by the way, thank you for, for your service to our country.
Dr. Gina
Absolutely appreciate you.
Terrence Bates
Absolutely.
David Brody
God bless you.
Terrence Bates
That's right. Thank you.
David Brody
Thanks Steve. Okay, ahead, just ahead on American Sunrise. It's not all about the Benjamins. See that money right there look. It's a closer look actually that we're going to take about finance, faith, family and redemption. It's news. You can use some insight when we come back back.
Terrence Bates
The wealthy and well connected have always had access to secrets. Secrets that gave them advantages the rest of us never knew existed. Tax breaks, exclusive strategies, hidden grants and opportunities only shared behind closed doors. But what if you could use the same leverage they do now?
David Brody
You can.
Terrence Bates
We can help you access the grants and opportunities that only the connected usually receive. And it all starts with a free book from best selling author Julio Gonzalez. He's Done it on taxes, he's done it on grants. And now Julio Gonzalez is ready to share his secrets with you. Don't get left behind. Scan the QR code on your screen or text ETS to 26786 right now to find out how we can help you learn the tricks of the wealthy and start getting ahead today.
Dr. Gina
All right, I know you're excited about that. Welcome back to American Sunrise. Four words carry heavy meaning. Faith, family, fitness, and finance. Those are the messages from our good friend Julio Gonzalez and Charles Duke Tanner, and they want to talk to you about that today. They are trying to help those at the bottom and those looking for a second chance come up by teaching principles and using AI to help them do it. So for more, let's just bring them in, the men themselves, Julio Gonzalez, founder and CEO of Engineered Tax Services and author of why Billionaires Love the Tax Code. Follow the IRS Lead to Build wealth. Here he is, bigger than life on a billboard right now in Times Square as well. Also joining us is Charles Duke Tanner. Charles is the author of the book Duke Got A Boxer's Fight for Freedom and One Last Shot at Redemption. All right, welcome to the show, gentlemen. I know you're in Washington, D.C. about the People's business, sort of. Or trying to keep the people's business away from the hands of the politicians in Washington, D.C. more like it. Julio. First, let's start with you. Tell us about these core four plus AI. How did all this start?
Terrence Bates
Yeah, really, this has been an amazing journey. I got to meet Duke. It's been a few years. He was coming out of prison, and ultimately we just connected. He couldn't find a job. It's so hard to get a job. When you come out of prison, you have a criminal record. And I said, duke, come join us. Come help us. And come help us bring grants to all the communities and help with prison reform. And let's get these people that like you that have been so great to our company to come join us out of prison. And let's bring AI to them and help them. And Duke really set it up. He's the one that I give all the credit to.
David Brody
Well, speaking of that, Duke Charles. You go by Duke Charles. What do you go by? By the way?
Terrence Bates
I go by Duke.
David Brody
Duke. All right, so tell us about your involvement in this. Because, look, your story, I mean, my goodness, talk about your story. I mean, it has shaped you. And for folks that don't know what you have been through, the hell that you've been through, to talk to folks About. About your story and how you got involved in this as well.
Terrence Bates
Hey, hey. Well, listen, with the grace of God, man, all things is possible. You know, I was able to coach myself and working with my partner, Adam Clause, in a program that we created in the inside. And this program and that teaching, man, led me to get a clemency by the president, you know, that no one thought that I would get. I had done 16 years, six months, and 21 days. I had got denied all my appeals and denied clemency by the Obama administration when I was the poster child forward. And then, by the grace of God, I come home. I'm speaking at Liberty University about fatherhood and second chance. And I meet this amazing man in Julio, and, you know, he turned into not only my. My mentor, but my friend and like big brother slash father. And it was all about second chance. And he said, you got so much in you, you got to dig down and find it. And we found the core four, and we want to present it into the. Into the prisons as well as into the poverty communities and with Julio's workforce. And he saw by him giving me a chance, he can get so many. And I told him last night that it isn't just about him building his empire. He's like the king of helping build people, and that's more important than anything in the United States of America.
Dr. Gina
To me, that's really true. It sounds like you guys might have met. Was it a Jack Brewer event when you mentioned Liberty University and fatherhood? I'm thinking those two things. And I hear you're doing some work, Duke as well, with Jack Brewer's foundation. Fabulous foundation, Very important work for fatherhood. But the question now I want to get to is, how is it that you help people? What is it about the four principles in this AI concept? Because a lot of people, AI scares them.
Terrence Bates
Well, it's not about just the AI component, because the AI isn't just to help the people in the bad communities. It's about giving you a coach. Everyone needs a coach. Julio has been my coach, so he have given me tools that will stick with me for the rest of my life. And a lot of people are unfortunate to get that. So he was able to teach me an engineer, tax services, about different grants for different women and different men that they never knew of. And those smaller companies don't get the chances that the big companies get. So with that, Julio brings a workforce piece and we give them the different training far as being fathers or being mothers, you know, because we cannot forget about our Women. And we want to go inside these communities as well with the same workforce. And that Julio's lining things up to have other different companies that come in on the workforce and teach men and women these trades because we know when we make the people better, we make the community better. And with the AI nowadays is we could just could get some of the data and know how to work with the people and finding out who's good at bad. And by with that, Julio's willing to give those, some of those men and women coming from prison and coming from public housing a job at Engineer tax service like he did me. Because just because you wasn't. Just because you may not didn't go to prison, but maybe you still never had a chance. And all the time he said he believes that he gave me my first chance in life and he said I'm winning and then I'm a real champion with it. And I thank him for that.
David Brody
That's phenomenal. Duke, you've got a great story of redemption. I'm just so happy about that. Julio, you've got a new book, by the way, why Billionaires Love the Tax code. Follow the IRS's lead to build Wealth. Tell us more about it. I mean, how can the average American make the tax code work for them while we're here? And then we got a wrap.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, well, just real quickly, this book has about 200 tips for the hard working American. The people that are paying the most tax in our country. Right. Because they don't have all the tax tools, incentive programs and grant programs. So really it's just an outline of what the Fortune 500 companies do, what the billionaires do to minimize their taxes. And really I just want tax equality in this country and I also want grant equality. There's so many people that are eligible for grants. Women owned businesses, small business owners, minority owned businesses. And they don't apply for, for the grants because they don't have access. They don't know about them. But we help them go get those grants. The government pays the fees typically. So hopefully this awareness from your program will be just tremendous in helping create equality and literacy so that they can have access to it.
Dr. Gina
And it's on a billboard in Times Square and we have a photo of it. So I want to take a second look at that and I just want to thank you guys for being with us. We'll see. See you guys again next week because you're going to be offering free downloads of Julio's new book, why Billionaires Love the Tax Code. Follow the IRS lead to build wealth. And I want to say this isn't just about a show. This isn't just what Duke says. Julio has mentored my family, my children. He has two of my children with him right now as we speak. He's been really just a very sincere, loving friend to so many. And his work is far beyond wealth building into the far reaches of charity and philanthropy. So scan the QR code or text ETS to this number and thank you both for your time. We'll see you next week. Travel safely.
Terrence Bates
Thank you all. God bless you all.
Dr. Gina
God bless you.
David Brody
Thanks, guys.
Dr. Gina
All right, coming up, the Washington Post is taking shots at Cacklin Kamala over the former VP's new book. And they're not missing words. We're going to show you why this is next as American Sunrise continues.
Emily Finn

More focus, better mornings, long term benefits without changing a single habit other than the coffee that you're already drinking every day. So if you're going to start your day with coffee, make it one that's weaponized against aging. Go to 1775 Coffee.com. rav and order rejuvenate coffee today. Fuel your body, protect your future. Rejuvenate. All right, time to stay awake, not woke. And who is woke today? Cackling. Kamala Harris. The Washington Post editorial board is criticizing her new book tour as uninspiring and uncompelling. The board says her media appearances left her coming off as uncomfortable and inauthentic. It urges Democrats to move on, claiming the party no longer has time to waste on Kamala Harris for discussion. Let's welcome to American Sunrise Adam Weiss, the host of Media Exposed for us here on Real America's Voice. Adam, always great to see you. Could a critique like this from a major editorial board impact Harris presence in the 2028 race? And is she even thinking about running? I mean, what happened in 2024 was so embarrassing for her. I just, it's a. It's just a snowball effect of negativity.
Dr. Gina
Adam.
Terrence Bates
I think the Washington Post might be playing like, somewhat of a political consultant for the Democratic Party, because everything she says is misleading, is false. You know, it's one of the passage in a book she talked why she didn't pick Buttigieg because he's gay. And Trump might have attacked him too much because you can't have an African American woman and a gay male on the same to give me a break. Trump owned the Miss America pageant. He owned the Miss Universe pageant. You can't get more gay than these big pageants. And the New York Times, the other sister publication that kind of like, used to be the gold standard for the, you know, for the legacy media. The Washington Post, New York Times, they recently wrote a big article called Trump's Big Gay Government Profile, and it was a good piece by the New York Times, which is very unusual, obviously, for Trump and the Republican Party. So if they can write that. I don't know what Cacao Camaro is talking about in her book, and she's not making much news. Anything. She doesn't really say. Anything newsworthy at all.
Emily Finn
Yeah, no, definitely not newsworthy. She's throwing everybody under the bus in this book. It's actually a tough read. But, Adam, I do have to get your take on this as well. This has been kind of the buzz on social media. The NFL has picked Bad Bunny to headline the 2026 Super Bowl. I don't even know Bad Bunny. I can't name a single one of his songs, but he's headlining the halftime show. It's a decision that many conservatives say puts woke politics over American tradition. Critics argue his act is more about pushing cultural agendas than uniting fans on football's biggest night. Adam, what is your take on the selection of Bad Bunny?
Terrence Bates
My take is, like with cracker barrel, the CEOs, the marketing departments didn't get the memory. Culture's changing. America's changing. And yet they have the same people running the marketing departments or the advertising departments, and they're stuck. They haven't got the pulse of America yet. This guy was criticized in America. He didn't want to perform because we might round up illegal immigrants at his concerts. And then they go and pick him, you know, punching your base in the face. It's ridiculous. If Trump showed up at a football team, football game, any football game across America, 80% of people would cheer you. Most of your audience is male. They're mostly masculine, which you see, the sport is masculine, but the people that run it aren't the people that they decide to do the advertising, the marketing. So it's ridiculous when you have these, the one sport you can look up to that follows the masculinity and kind of like this was Dana White, ufc, right? He preaches what he he preaches what he rules, he preaches what he does, and he runs it in a smooth, effective way.
Dr. Gina
Yes.
Emily Finn
Well, Adam Weiss, always great to have you on the show and have you break down all of the things that need to be exposed in the media. Really appreciate you waking up early and being with us. Thanks, Adam.
Terrence Bates
Thanks for having me.
Emily Finn
Still ahead on American Sunrise, Charlie Kirk's movement isn't just for students anymore. New reports show his activism is spreading to older conservatives, too, inspiring both young and old to return to church and embrace Jesus teachings. Stick around. We'll be right back.
David Brody
God bless the usa.
Terrence Bates
In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth.
Dr. Gina
All right. Welcome back to AMERICAN sunrise. It is now time for our moment of faith. And in focus today, an attack on any house of worship. Worship is an attack on all Americans. Freedom. After the deadly shooting and fire at a Mormon church in Michigan, places of worship across the country are re evaluating security. Some have security teams in place. Others are just now starting that conversation. Metal detectors, trained volunteers, even armed protection. It raises the question, though, how far do we go to protect the right to worship and at what cost? Joining us now is Pastor Jackson Longmire. He is a leader in the White House Faith Council. And welcome to the show. Pastor I'll tell you, Daily Mail contacted me yesterday and asked me what I'm doing for increased security in light of not just these church violence, but Charlie's death, of course. And my response was not a lot different because I've always been very cognizant. When you speak the truth and you speak it as fearlessly as you possibly can, you know there are going to be threats. So my family's always been very, very prepared in a lot of ways. Spiritually is just as important as tactically or anything else. But the thing that I want to get to that I'm trying to talk to you about not just how our churches amping up their security, but are they willing now that the attack has come to then, you know, it brings to mind that old first they took the Jew, but I wasn't Jewish, so I didn't care. Then they took the right. Everybody knows that. It reminds me of that because I feel like church pastors. I'm reading Jim Garlow's well, Reversed is the name of the book. It's a great book. It's a call to action for pastors because he says there are too many spineless, wimpy Christian pastors out there. Pastors out there who aren't calling the truth from the pulpit. And it's because of that that the church is known as a soft target. They hide out in gun free zones, right? They're not out there defending the second Amendment. They're not tactically training their membership and telling them to get tactically trained and defend their second Amendment. They're not even actively defending their first Amendment. There's a lot wrong here that led us to a place where churches are unfortunately very soft targets. Do you think the spiritual battle will increase? I want to ask that first.
David Brody
Well, I think it already has increased because right now there's a spiritual awakening that is happening in America and the enemy does not like that. So he doesn't just let it happen. It goes after churches. And I would encourage pastors and church leaders. You've got to take the necessary measures to make sure that your people are safe whenever they come to your church. I mean, you know, at my church we have law enforcement at our services, we have a security team at every single service. And we do that because we recognize the world that we live in. We've not been given a spirit of fear, but a power love. We got to use that sound mind and we got to be as wise as serpents and as harmless as doves, recognizing we are under attack in this country spiritually, but also in the physical realm as well. And so we just have to be prepared for that.
Dr. Gina
But you are prepared, Pastor, because you speak the truth from the pulpit and you're not afraid of it and you're not afraid of the politics. And you understand the whole situation with the Johnson amendment. You understand the role of the black robe regiment that was so important in the founding of this nation. But there are a lot of pastors that don't understand that. And they have sat idly by, you know, twisting their hands and being quiet, not saying anything that might offend someone from the pulpit. Isn't that how we got here?
David Brody
Pastor, you are exactly right. Weak pulpits have created weak Christians, which has led to a weak nation. And so as the pulpits get stronger, we'll see the body of Christ get stronger and we'll see our country get stronger. And so, yeah, unfortunately, the pulpit, I believe, has let our nation down and we have to have a reversal of that. And so it's encouraging that we're starting to see more Pastors get a little more bold. You know, I say it like this. When you're facing evil, you cannot purr like a little kitten. You gotta roar like a mighty lion. And we have to be lions behind the pulpit proclaiming the truth of God's word. And if we'll do that, we'll see a major turnaround in America.
Dr. Gina
I hope so. I hope so. This is really a wake up call for pastors in so many ways. The events over the last several weeks and even months. Pastor Lamire, thank you for your strong stand and thank you for joining us today. All right, back with the second hour of American Sunrise. Two minutes, stick around. Coming up on the second hour of American Sunrise, the federal government officially shut down. Democrats blocked a clean budget extension, leaving millions of Americans to deal with furloughs, closed parks and delayed services. Stay with us. We're going to break down what it actually means for you. And who will pay the political price? Plus, President Trump and War Secretary Pete Hegseth spoke to top military brass yesterday, unveiling new directives on fitness, grooming and combat standards. The president wants to reawaken the warrior spirit. We'll break down what these changes could mean for our military. And shrieks are headed to Portland this week. The Oregon National Guard will help secure federal buildings and personnel as the city faces riots and other security concerns. Stay with us. We're going to take a look at what this deployment means for residents and the federal response. Second hour of American SUNRISE is starting right now.
David Brody
Good morning America.
Dr.
We have to to protect the American family.
Dr. Gina
The American dream is still alive.
David Brody
I'm David Brody.
Terrence Bates
I'm terrence.
Dr. Gina
And I'm Dr. Gina.
David Brody
And welcome back, everybody, to the second hour of American Sunrise. I'm David Brody coming to you from D.C. let's bring in Dr. G in West Palm T. Bates in our Denver newsroom. Well, day one of the government shutdown, I think Dr. G, the the key initials here or key letters, RIF, reduction in force. Now we wait to see what President Trump and Russ vote over at OMB does about this. The White House, Gina, has a lot of latitude here to deem what is essential and what is not essential. So Democrats, get ready.
Dr. Gina
Yeah. Well, a lot of these departments, I think President Trump is multitasking as usual. He's not only showing the Democrats that if they're going to spend money on illegal immigrants instead of Americans. He's going to expose them for it. And secondly, I think he's, he's testing the waters a little bit, maybe David, maybe Terrence, for some of these departments that he's talked about cutting or eliminating altogether. Do you think that's part of this plan here, Terrence?
Terrence Bates
Potentially. It's going to be interesting to see kind of how this ultimately moves forward if in fact there is a reduction in force, a permanent resolution. Reduction in force. I'm even going to say it's going to be interesting to see how long this furlough is going to last. Furloughed for how long? You know, these next couple of weeks. Hopefully it doesn't last that long, but it very well could, particularly if history is, you know, if you look at history, the last one I think was about a month, maybe about 30 days if I'm not mistaken. So it's going to be interesting to see how all of this plays out, guys. But in the meantime, the White House is going to host its latest press briefing this afternoon. And the current government shutdown will likely dominate the questions that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt is going to have to answer. In the meantime, about 750,000 federal employees reportedly will not be showing up for work today thanks to being furloughed. Some are even facing the prospect of being fired outright. As we just discussed, Republicans blame congressional Democrats, specifically Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for holding government funding hostage. The schumer shutdown. Unbelievable. 13 times Chuck Schumer has voted for a clean CR. What's that mean? That means this time he's being hypocritical once again, making it about President Trump and Republicans even though he knows deep in his heart that the Schumer shut down lives again and that hurts the average American across this country. We're going to have the military without a paycheck. We're going to have people suffering because Chuck Schumer won't do the right thing. A last ditch effort to keep the government open failed on Tuesday when the Senate couldn't get the 60 votes necessary to avoid the current shutdown. A continuing resolution that already passed in the GOP led House only garnered 53 votes in the Republican majority Senate with most Democrats refusing to cross the aisle to get that measure across the finish line. Turning Point USA hosts its first college tour event in Utah since Charlie Kirk's assassination and thousands of people showed up to support. Was about two hours from where Charlie Kirk was assassinated. There was also a tense moment leading up to the rally as a campus building had to be temporarily evacuated due to a suspicious package. Turns out there was no threat though. Utah Governor Spencer Cox along with Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs were on the the panel at that event. Senator Mike Lee of Utah was scheduled to attend as well, but instead sent a pre recorded video message saying that he had to stay in Washington D.C. to participate in a vote to try and avert a government shutdown. Hurricanes Imelda and Humberto are causing massive problems for parts of the east coast right now. The Category 1 storm is picking winds. Pick is packing winds, excuse me, of about 85 miles an hour and spawning massive waves. Check out this video from North Carolina where strong waves are literally causing oceanside homes to collapse as you just saw there at last. Check. At least five homes just in the city of Buxton, North Carolina had collapsed. Ocracoke and Hatteras Islands are also dealing with road closures thanks to the two systems that are now blowing. A meld is extremely expected to grow to a Category 2 storm by tonight. Hurricane Umberto appears to have lost some of its steam overnight and is now down to a Category 1 system. For more, let's check in with Weather Nation meteorologist Tracy Anthony. Tracy, how much of a threat are these two systems? Even though they're a little far off the US coast, but they're still bringing waves and other problems.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, you know, we're still going to be dealing with the high surf and the waves throughout the day to day. North Carolina is especially susceptible just because of the geography, how it kind of sticks out a little farther to the east and those barrier islands.
Terrence Bates
Tracy, I'm sorry, we're having some audio issues here. You're breaking up for us a little bit. We'll see if we can't get those fixed and maybe we'll try to check in with you in a little bit. Sorry, Tracy. Good to see you though. Always good to see you. All right, let's switch things up a little bit. Let's go over to David. David, Mike check, 1, 2, 1, 2, Mike check.
David Brody
I'm here, I'm here, I'm here. I could do. No, I'm here. I'm, I'm definitely here. All right. That was kind of weird. By the way, the weather in D.C. with this government shutdown, cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms likely, actually. Definitely for sure. All right. The headline of the day, of course, the federal government now officially shut down. Republicans tried to keep it open. Democrats, of course, refused to come to the table by blocking this clean. It was a clean seven week extension that would have kept the lights on. Even now they're insisting on packing the budget with more government giveaways. Joining us this morning with analysis is CPAC Chairman Matt Schlatt. Matt. Well, good morning, I guess. Yeah, look, Democrats just, they wouldn't budge. Now many are calling this, well, Democrats aren't, but many others are calling this the Schumer shutdown. So what do you think? Do you think Democrats deliberately let this shutdown happen just to score some political points? Because I'm sorry, Chuck Schumer saw AOC in his rearview mirror and he knew he was going to get flack from the far left if he didn't shut this government down. That's what this is all about, honestly.
Terrence Bates
Look, the Democrats tend to win all these shutdown battles, so they're very cocky about it. They like to have the shutdown battles because then they start using the news media to show like all these terrible things are happening because regulators aren't going to work and people are suffering. And so they'll, they'll make the most of it. But at the end, the Republicans have to grab back this idea that Reagan had, which is you have to use the budget process to get the policies and the spending that you want. And Republicans lost this battle when Newt Gingrich was speaker. And we've spent all of these years, it's like 20 years, 30 years, kind of like wandering around saying that we're never forced shut down, we would never use the budget process to shut down the government. And I understand this is Schumer shutdown, He owns it 100%. But after they, if they were to get this extension, David, then you have the next piece of it, which is are we willing to fight to the death for our principles like illegals who were here should not get health care benefits or temporary Obama Covid subsidies shouldn't be made permanent. Those are just two little things. Defunding pbs, continuing to defund PBS would be another thing. There's a lot of issues that I think we should fight to the death on. And if we fight over those principles, and that means the government shuts down for a short period of time, we have to embrace it and quit running away from it. Matt, I don't want to put words in your mouth, but I'm getting the sense that you don't see this government shutdown is all bad, that there may be some benefits, specifically when it comes to pushing congressional Republicans and Democrats to do their constitutional duty and to fund the government to pass all these ultimate funding bills.
David Brody
Yeah.
Terrence Bates
So I'm old. I've been doing this a long time, Terrence. I've been in this town too long. And the fact is is that Democrats tend to win these battles. Republicans don't want to fight over spending. And what's the result of that? USAID becomes bloated and is there's no oversight of it. And that's just one little department of government. This is true in all of government. Republicans, not all of them. We have some great ones there. But by and large, Republicans and Republican appropriators are willing to give the Democrats almost everything they want on their spending as long as they get the bridge or the courthouse or the post office in their district. That's the dirty little secret of this. I think we've gotten to the point where the American people are so disgusted by this whole process and conservatives and pro America people are so disgusted by this, they actually want us to fight. I think for the first time in a long time, we can win this budget battle. And I appreciate President Trump and Speaker Johnson and Senator Thune taking the first step in that process.
Dr. Gina
Matt, we heard from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and President Trump yesterday. They say they're done with wokeness in the armed forces and they're rolling out new policies to refocus our military on war fighting first and foremost. What was your reaction to the speech? Did it surprise you at all? And how do you think Americans will ultimately respond?
Terrence Bates
Like everything in the Trump era, it is unconventional, made for TV and Pete Hegseth is the perfect person to talk about being in shape and passing your pt. It gave me flashbacks to my own ROTC PT test. I wasn't the fastest guy in the squad, by the way. I was better at push ups. But of course what he's saying is of course makes sense. We're all exhausted at dei. We shouldn't have a DEI furry. We saw those pictures of people who were furries putting it out on these websites. We shouldn't have people who are not physically able to be in combat be in combat. We've had this feminization of the military which says that a woman doesn't have to meet the same standards because we want women in combat, because maybe we'll have less war because men are toxic, have toxic masculinity, all this crap. I'm so glad we're pressing flush. That being said, there was a lot of wonderful people in that audience and I think the one thing the secretary has to keep in mind is that while we're chastising the politicization of the military, there's the overwhelming percentage of people who join. Who join and give their lives to the military are wonderful people who probably agree with him. So let's. Let's build them up and empower them while we flush DEI down the toilet.
David Brody
Yeah, I think most of the military definitely agrees with him. Of course, there will be some fat generals this morning that are not happy, but other than that.
Terrence Bates
Well, you know what's funny? Don't quote me. The fat generals were the ones that were seen to be making all these terrible decisions, too. It is kind of ironic.
David Brody
Yeah, for sure. All right, that'd be a good tease. Coming up, a fat general. All right.
Terrence Bates
Thank you, Matt. Appreciate it. Bye, guys. Matt.
Dr. Gina
Thanks, Matt.
David Brody
All right, coming up. No, not fat generals, but everyone dreams of buying their first home. But can people really steal your house from under you? Actually, the answer is yes. In moments. Find out how not to be a victim. That's when American Sunrise.
Emily Finn
Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Emily Finn. It's great to have you with us this morning. Time now to drain the swamp. And this morning, we're draining out some swamp monsters that are trying to steal your home from under your own feet. And this is where the great people at home title lock come in to protect your homes. For more, let's bring in investigative reporter John Sommer. John, so great to have you on the show with us.
Terrence Bates
Thanks so much, Emily. Great to be here. And they're also called tidal pirates, so swamp monsters. That's good, too.
Emily Finn
Yeah, swamp monsters and tidal pirates. You want nothing to do with either of them. So walk us through. What exactly is title fraud, house stealing? What information have you found during your investigations into all of this?
Terrence Bates
Well, Emily, there are many ways to skin this cat, but basically what happens is the bad guy or gal will be able to forge documents. And now you can do it very easily on the Internet and with artificial intelligence. And then once you transfer the title or deed to a piece of property, and it could be a house, it could be open land, it could be an Airbnb, it can be grandma's house, whatever. Then you can extract the value out of it. And sometimes they'll sell the property, but most times, Emily, they will take out loans, multiple loans, and the homeowner or property owner won't know about it until it's way too late. And the loan company comes a knocking on the door and. And say, you haven't paid us on this loan. And the homeowner is totally oblivious to the fact that their title has been stolen. It's insidious. It's very easy to do. There are syndicates around the world that do this, Emily. And everybody is a potential victim.
Dr. Gina
Wow.
Emily Finn
I mean, that is a really scary situation. If you could be completely oblivious to, to this even happening. Walk us through how public records and information accessibility contribute to the facilitation of real estate fraud schemes.
Terrence Bates
Well, all of that information is available. I mean, you and I can just go online and find out anything about someone's property. And then once you have that information, you can create the documents, Emily, and even get a notary stamp off of the Internet and, and make it all look official. And you don't even necessarily have to go down to the county clerk's office to transfer the title. It can be done online. And then once you have that, for all the world to see, it's your property and then you can do with it whatever you want. And I have so many different stories. There's so many different ways to do this. It's, it's just, it's stealth. It's horrible. And think about it, Emily. Most people, when they think about a crime, they think about maybe their watch is stolen or their car or jewelry. Somebody breaks into the house. But this is far greater because for most people, it's their net worth. It's everything that they own in their home. And if that's taken, you're in big trouble.
Dr. Gina
Absolutely.
Terrence Bates
Then you have to go through the court system. You have to hire an attorney. It's very expensive. But there are ways to take care of yourself.
Emily Finn
Yeah, it's good to be getting the word out about this. You know, like you said, some people are oblivious. It kind of happens without them even knowing. And you gotta protect what is most important to you. John Sommer, thank you so much for your time. Really appreciate you coming on the show this morning.
Terrence Bates
Welcome. Thank you.

A live look at the White House which is open for business. A press briefing is going to happen this afternoon. A lot of work still happening at the White House despite the fact that that the federal Government is shut down at the moment thanks to what Republicans are calling the Schumer shutdown. It's our big story of the day and we'll of course be talking about that throughout the day. But first we want to take you to Wall street for the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. It is set to ring here in just a few minutes. I can tell you that the indices are in the red at the moment in pre market trading. But again we'll take you to Wall street for the opening bell and see if there is a change here in just a few. First let's get you over to David Brody. David, good morning.
David Brody
Good morning Tbates. All right. Time now for our daily dose of dollars and common sense. We have American Sunrise Early Edition host, the guy behind Jake's take substack, that would be Jake Novak. Jake, why don't we just get this out of the way first? Can we just talk about the Jets? I know we're a day or two late on this, but would you like to give us your analysis? Remember, Jake's a long time suffering Jet fan just like me. Go ahead.
Terrence Bates
If the jets are, you don't want to talk.
David Brody
So. No, yeah, absolutely, absolutely. Trade the jets down if they were a stock. That's why by the way, all the major sports teams should be publicly traded companies so that we can invest in them and not just do betting for Las Vegas. Why not, you know, spend money on their shares. If I, in this case, I would absolutely short selling the Jets. Yeah, it'd be definitely get a low price for sure. But the problem is it wouldn't increase. All right. So Jake, you and a lot of other people, including our viewers aren't taking your eyes off gold prices. So let's talk about that. What's up with it? Yeah, you know, we're getting close to that Magic Number of $4,000 per an ounce of gold. We're at 3,800 and really close to 30. We were over 3,900 a little earlier this morning. I think we're going to get back over 3,900 in probably a couple of minutes. And that's a big number. You know, David, you and I are old enough to remember 1979 when every single day the lead story in the news for several months was will gold get to $1,000 an ounce? By the way, it never did in 1979. In fact, it took many, many more years before it hit the thousand dollar mark. It was actually after the year 2000 when it finally hit that, well, gold's going up because government spending isn't going down that much. It drives up the value of gold. You hear about it on this program all the time. But get ready for that 4,000 number. It's going to happen. I'm going to predict that. It's not a very. It's not a very courageous prediction, but I'm making that prediction. It will happen probably in the next couple of weeks. I mean, gold is appreciated obviously throughout the years. So makes me think about how home prices appreciate as well. Is gold similar in that sense or. I mean, in other words, it seems like a good investment, but there's more to it maybe than that, or is it gold just going to continue to go up the way you see it?
Emily Finn
Yeah.
David Brody
No, I mean, listen, gold is a different kind of investment. It's very often it's kind of a doomsday investment. It's one of those things that you should have all the time just in case really bad things happen. But when spending goes up or doesn't get under control, it becomes a better investment. And so that's really the biggest reason why it's gone up. There's other reasons. It doesn't have much of an industrial use anymore. Gold used to be needed for a lot of industrial uses. Not even silver does, but not gold. So this is totally a hedge against things that are going. We know are happening. I don't see the spending stopping anytime soon. So to me, this is a good investment. It's just one of those things.
Terrence Bates
Diversify, diversify.
David Brody
Don't have too much in one. One thing. Right. More Democrats needed for gold to go up is basically what you're saying. Got it. Something like that. Something like that. All right, Jake, so we got Nike investors. They're whining, or they were whining about tariffs just a couple of months ago. Now the numbers are showing a different story entirely, especially, I guess, when you factor China into the mix. So talk about that. Yeah, it's really interesting about Nike. They posted really good. They crushed profit expectations. Yes. Last night when they came out with their quarterly report, they did really well in their profits and they even increased in sales. And one of the funny things about it is that it's not the US Market that's giving them a problem with the tariffs. It's China. China. Even with all the stuff, they're not tariffing Nike stuff that's made in Vietnam or made closer to them, and yet their sales there are weaker. So it really, again, obviously tariffs have an impact. I'm not saying they don't have an impact. But the way that people were guessing this and a lot of people were really pounding the table about how Nike was going to suffer, boy, were they wrong.
Terrence Bates
And you know what?
David Brody
Unlike me, there's no accountability for these people. Where are all those people who said Nike was going to take it on the chin? They're not willing to admit they're wrong ever. It's really frustrating to me. But they were wrong. Yeah. Let's talk about the EV situation. The EV question of the day. I feel like you and EVs, you know, you're a match made in. Well, maybe not heaven, but something else. So we know the tax. The tax credit for buying an EV expired yesterday. You say Ford, though, and GM have found a way to extend it for, for their customers. So explain this. Yeah, yeah. EVs and I are like a match made in East St. Louis, Illinois. But no, just kidding. You know, I'm not a fan of EVs. However, I am a fan of financial gymnastics and people are really smart and do something interesting. So Chevy and. Sorry, Ford and GM knew that that tax credit expired yesterday, the 70$500 federal tax credit. And they were worried about, boy, no one's going to buy any evs anymore. So what did they do? They bought a lot of these EVs from their own dealers themselves. And now they will extend that savings on to people who lease these EVs from now on. That's pretty smart. I don't know if this is going to work for them as far as getting them bigger numbers, but it's a pretty smart thing to do to take advantage of something on an expiring day when you've got a pile of cash that you can use. I like when people think smart and out of the box financially. Don't know if it'll work or not, but I applaud their effort. Yeah, for sure. Hey, Jake. Great to have you as always. Thanks so much. Appreciate you. My pleasure. All right. By the way, he mentioned Eat St. Louis, which made me think of Gina liking loving St. Louis pizza and also me thinking that she's totally dead wrong. New York pizza. Sorry, she's not here to defend herself. It's kind of a cheap shot. All right, time for tea In Denver. He's got the opening belt. The New York Stock Exchange.
Terrence Bates
Sponsored by amac, the association of Mature American Citizens is the conservative voice for Americans 50 and older. AMEC is fighting for the values that you hold dear. Join today. Together we can write the course of America. Oh, I like that little dollar signs that were kind of revealed there. All right, we're getting you ready for the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. As you can see, the applause is underway at the podium, which means the bell is going to ring here in short order and then we'll get an idea of where the markets stand. Neptune is at the podium for those of you who are going to be investing, hopefully it is going to be a profitable day of investing. The markets are now officially open. You hear the bell. So let's take a quick look to see how the markets are looking. Not starting off on such a positive note. The dow, S P 500 and the NASDAQ are all in the red. Crude oil is also down. Vix, gold and silver are up at the moment. So hopefully, if that's where you're investing in those precious metals, you'll have a pretty good day. But again, the market's not looking so hot at the current moment. So here's a question for you. Do you owe back taxes? Are your tax returns still unfiled? Did you forget to file for an extension? Well, the October 15th deadline is all. Well, it's fast approaching and time is, of course, running out. If you haven't gathered, gathered all of your documents or if you've made any estimated payments, you could soon be targeted by the irs. You guys always are with us here watching the show and chatting it up with our other RAV family members on Get a Rumble and on Instagram. Here with the chat room report is RAV family member and chat room dweller Carefree Largo. But we're not going to go to Carefree right now. Now to kick things off, we're actually going to go to Senator Ron Johnson who is obviously standing by in Washington, D.C. right now amid the government shutdown. Senator Johnson, we appreciate you joining us particularly amid this shutdown. What is your estimation in terms of how long this thing is ultimately going to drag on? And I guess the better question is how long are Senate Democrats going to drag this thing on? How long is Chuck Schumer going to dig in? Well, good morning. Hopefully not long. We did have two Democrats join Republicans to vote for the very responsible bill, the House pass, which is just a pretty much straight sea arc and takes.
David Brody
Us to right before Thanksgiving.
Terrence Bates
That will give the appropriators time to pass appropriation bills to fund the government. Again. That's the responsible thing to do. But for whatever reason, Chuck Schumer is being led by the radical left part of his party who are just spoiling for a shutdown. So we need five or six additional Democrats to join Republicans. We'll have another test vote again on it today before the Jewish holiday and we'll see what happens. So it's my understanding that there are going to be almost daily votes. That's what the majority leader John Thune is proposing until or hopefully enough Democrats will cross the aisle to get the government reopened. Is that your expectation and what conversations have you had with your Democrat colleagues in terms of their appetite for getting the government reopened and doing the right thing? Well, you know, there are a number of Democrats that aren't up for reelection that probably don't have to worry about their radical left base. So, you know, hopefully cooler heads will prevail. I think it's a good Sign that two joined us last night. Maybe more will join us this afternoon. We can make sure that government reopens immediately today. That would be the preferred outcome here. Sure. But there is a bigger issue here of these appropriations bills. Getting all the appropriations bills passed and Congress in general doing its constitutional duty to fund the government. Is that something that you feel needs to be addressed? Absolutely. Since I've been here, this is my 15th appropriation cycle. In theory, we should have passed 180 appropriation bills prior to the end of the fiscal year. 180. We've passed six. So I guess it's time to recognize that that process is broken. And again, not from lack of trying. I think to a certain extent, I'm somewhat cynical about this. There is a very well honed process for the unit party not to pass appropriation bills, set up these shutdown showdowns, set the deadlines right before Thanksgiving or Christmas, and drop a 2000 page omnibus spending bill on our desk the day before Christmas and say, well, you get to go home or vote for this thing. So that's one of the techniques the Union Party has used to take us from $14 trillion in debt since I got here to over $37 trillion. We need to return to a rational process. That's one of the reasons I proposed the Eliminate Shutdowns Act. Unfortunately, every Democrat voted against that. Even 12 Republican appropriators did. I guess they're trying to defend that incredibly broken appropriation process. Again, it's not from lack of trying. It's just, it's difficult. Washington's become very partisan. So I was trying to, with the Eliminate Shutdown act, just set up rolling 14 day automatic or automatic appropriations and take all the pressure off in terms of passing massive omnibus spending bills. You can just do these appropriation bills one at a time, find areas of agreement like we did in the Senate on Veterans affairs and military construction. We passed that before the August or the September 30 deadline. Unfortunately, the House hadn't, they hadn't reconciled the bills, wasn't signed into law. But again, if we just eliminate shutdowns for all time, it makes so much sense. By the way, those automatic appropriations would just fund government at last year's levels. I mean, Wisconsin did that in 19, I think 53. That's their approach. Don't shut down government. If you're so dysfunctional you can't appropriate or fund it, just fund it at last year's levels. That would be a common sense approach. We could eliminate shutdowns for all time. Maybe maybe in this process we can pass that bill. It's definitely an interesting idea. We, of course, will be following it and following you. Senator Johnson, thank you so much for spending some time with us this morning. Hopefully the vote today is a positive one and we can get the the government back open as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for being here with us. Have a great day. Absolutely. You as well. All right. Let's send things back over to Dr. Gina now. Dr. G. Good morning.
Dr. Gina
Good morning. You know, so much common sense in what he said. I don't know if we can go on. Terrence. Thank you, Terrence. It is time now for today's health news. It is sponsored by the Wellness Company. And under the microscope today, a major new study published in JAMA Oncology is raising eyebrows over weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy and others. Researchers found that women who took these GLP1 medications not only shed the pounds, but also show to reduce risk of several deadly cancers. The data published this week links drugs to lower rates of ovarian, endometrial and also breast cancers. And there are some others as well. Doctors say it's a promising new development, and indeed it is. You know, but there are some side effects with some of these drugs, although they're beginning to eliminate some of those. I've been saying this from the very beginning that when you take away, you know, a lot of the side effects you hear about, I think are side effects of obesity. And it's hard to tell chicken and egg whether the side effect came from the drug or from the obesity. And also we know obesity causes things like cancer and diabetes and heart disease. And nobody seems to want to figure that in when they warn people not to take these. Joining us now with reaction is Dr. Ben Tapper. He's the director of epigenetics for the wellness company. Dr. You know, I am not a big pharma person. I really am not. The last thing I usually do is sing praises of big pharma. I am a wellness company all the way. And the great thing about Wellness Company and some of these weight loss drugs is that at this point, Wellness Company is coming out with things that emulate some of these drugs. Am I wrong about that?
David Brody
Yeah. I mean, the Wellness Company is pioneering the field in this. I mean, there are some really good weight loss things out there. There's weight loss medications that hit the market. The Wellness Company has a phenomenal peptide that's, you know, you can just put it in water. There's no injections needed but the wellness company is really pioneering the field in that area. And you know, if you're going to get on some of these weight loss medications or peptides, I would seek the wellness company's peptides. Again, you don't need a prescription and you put it right in water and highly effective.
Dr. Gina
It's not a chemical. That's the important thing. The peptides are not a chemical. They're a naturally occurring substance in the body, which tends to be where the focus of, of wellness companies products comes from. What do you think about this decrease in cancer, though?
David Brody
Well, think about obesity. I mean, right now 50, roughly 40 to 50% of Americans are suffering with obesity. It affects every system cell in the body. It taxes this. Every system in the body. It leads to. When you have obesity, you increase your chances of cancer. Obese, cardiovascular issues, strokes, autoimmune, you name it. I mean, again, it's a hormone imbalance. And roughly 300,000 people die of obesity every single year. And coincidentally, roughly 50% of Americans are going to get cancer. So there's a direct correlation between obesity and cancer. There's a mountain of literature to back that up. So when you decrease your obesity, decrease obesity in the population, you're going to have healthier outcomes, you're going to have healthier people. That is not up for debate. That is factual. So when we eliminate obesity, you're going to increase your level of health? Absolutely. And these peptides, especially like the wellness company's peptide, it's an oral peptide, it's going to curve appetite, decrease the appetite, and it's going to help you lose that weight and it's a much safer option. But these, these drugs are there to help speed up the process of weight loss. And really we can't neglect lifestyle as well. I mean, we can't just take this pill and think that we're just going to be healthy. But it's something that's going to help you reach your goals faster. But we need to look at lifestyle too. We can't just forget that component of this. We have to eat well, move well, think well. We can be well. But these peptides can definitely help speed things up.
Dr. Gina
But I'll tell you what, I get angry when I hear people say, oh, it's just all diet and exercise. Because it's not all diet and exercise. Any woman who's ever had a baby can tell you you can diet and exercise your brains out after a baby. And it really is nice, I think, for people to have help. You have the revive series drop, tell us about this product and why people sometimes need a little more than diet and exercise.
David Brody
Well, the nice thing about that drop, it's, it's an oral peptide. You can put it right in water. Again, you don't need a prescription for this. It curves the appetite.
Dr. Gina
You can put it in other things too, right? Like tea or coffee or something.
David Brody
Yeah, you can add it. You don't put in water for your coffee. It just, it's a, it's, it's really revolutionizing the peptide weight loss market again, because you don't need. It's not an injection. I don't, I hate needles and I don't want to use an injection. And so I know a lot of people are like that. And this is a. Just like a peptide. I just put it right in water and drink and just take it from there. And so it's a very safe, it's a natural peptide. It's a retatrutide, which is actually the best peptide for weight loss. So. And the wellness company has that.
Dr. Gina
All right. And we also have a hundred dollars off, I believe. Can you tell us about that?
David Brody
I'm sorry, what was the question? I'm sorry.
Dr. Gina
I think we have a hundred dollars off a coupon or something on that.
David Brody
Oh, yes, yep. So if you use the, the coupon that Almost company has, the drop coupon, you get $100 off the drop.
Dr. Gina
Right now you have to put in RAV100, I believe is the code, if I'm not mistaken. RAV100. There you go. $100 off of that product. All right, Dr. Ben Tapper, thank you for all this wisdom. Thanks for being with us again today.
David Brody
Yeah, thank you. Now God bless you too.
Dr. Gina

The importance of faith in the US during these harrowing times and moments. How one group is highlighting their national movement promoting communion and bringing the country back to God. That story next on American Sunrise.
Emily Finn
Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Emily Finn. It is time, time now to take a look at religion in these United States. Awaken the Dawn Communion of America. Are highlighting their national movement dedicated to prayer, worship and unity across the country. This partnership aligns with Real America's Voice's mission of amplifying stories that strengthen faith, family and freedom while offering our viewers meaningful conversations about cultural renewal and spiritual awakening in the nation. Joining us now is David Bradshaw, the president and founder of Awaken the Dawn and director of Communion America. David, thank you so much for joining us.
David Brody
Thank you for having me.
Emily Finn
So what makes this massive gathering on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. this coming October unique? What is going to be taking place? Walk us through a little bit of a preview here.
David Brody
Yeah. Well, obviously, we never could have predicted where the nation would be right now in this season when we planned this gathering, which was well over a year ago. And so we do think it's providential. We think that God is igniting a spiritual awakening in our nation. And this is really the key to our nation moving forward into everything that we're called to be and do. And so we will be gathering on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. it's October 9 through 12, and we literally have thousands coming from all over the nation. It's called Communion America. And so there's a few things that will be happening. One, we have 56 tents that are going to be lining that central section of the mall and they're going to be filled with prayer, literally 24 hours from all 50 states. It's absolutely stunning. And they're just praying. We're praying and just believing for God's kingdom to come and for great awakening in America. And so that will happen for three days. We'll have rallies every night. We have groups that are working, especially on university campuses, working with Gen Z There's a great spiritual awaken igniting in Gen Z right now across America, on university campuses, all over the nation. So they will all be coming en masse. And this is for all ages, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, everyone. And then we're going to be having on the final day, October 11, on the Saturday actually, a communion table, literally a table over a mile long in the central section of the National Mall. This has never happened before. Nothing like this has ever been done before. And it's going to be a national communion service for anyone that loves Jesus. Across the whole nation, we're saying, come together at the center of our nation's capital because we believe that the gospel, that Jesus wants to heal our nation. And so we're going to gather at this massive table, we're going to have communion. It's going to be an incredible expression of the whole church in America coming together as one. I think it's going to be. I think it's going to be a blessing to America. I think it could even ignite spiritual awakening in our nation. Again, nothing like this has ever been done before.
Dr. Gina
Wow.
Emily Finn
I think that word you used, stunning, is the perfect way to describe this. This sounds absolutely incredible. I'm curious, what inspired this event? You know, how do recent events, including the assassination of Charlie Kirk, how does that maybe affect this and inspire something like this?
David Brody
Well, obviously, you know, we had been had this in the works many, many months before what unfolded with the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk and the events that have followed. But we do see God's hand in the timing of this event, that this is needed in our nation right now. And to be honest with you, in our initial planning, we were contemplating 2026 as a time frame to do this event. So we had a longer time to mobilize. But we really felt we have a number of spiritual leaders across the nation. We are praying, and all of US back in 2024, all of us felt strongly impressed we needed to do this in the fall of 2025. Of course, we had no idea at that time where we would be as a nation in the fall of 2025. And so I would submit to those listening, this is something that God has orchestrated.
Dr. Gina
Absolutely.
David Brody
This is for the sake of our nation. This is a critical time for believers to step into the public square and, and lift up the name of Jesus. That's our conviction. And so we're sober and excited.
Emily Finn
Now is the time. How can people be part of this historic event?
David Brody
Well, you can get on our website, CommunionAmerica.com CommunionAmerica.com we, we would just ask that you register. It's a free registration. But we, we need to know numbers coming so we can plan. So if you can register, it's October 9 through 12. If you can only come one day, come on October 11. That's the day of the massive table and there's going to be music and worship and just incredible sense of God moving in our nation. So I encourage you to come that day and be a part if you can.
Emily Finn
Oh, sounds like it's going to be incredible. Thank you so much for joining us. We really appreciate it. You're welcome there. We'll be back with the second hour of American Sunrise in just two minutes. Stick around.
Dr. Gina
Hi. Welcome back to American sunrise. I'm Dr. Chi. Thanks for joining us today. It is now time for our Sunny side up and in the pan today. Let's see if I can do this. It's a story about family history and a very special delivery in Fort Pierce, Florida. Just right up the road, Jevon Castrillo received something he never expected. It's a letter written back in 2001 from his late mother, a woman who tragically lost her life on September 11. The letter, filled with praise for young Jevons kindergarten achievements, was treasured and safely kept by his teacher for all of these years. Now, more than two decades later, it's been returned to him. A piece of his mother's voice, a reminder of her love and a new treasure to share with his own young family. Here's what it looked like when he read her words for the first time.
Terrence Bates
Dear Ms. Thurman, Javon read a book last night that he brought home from the library. He read it from COVID to cover. I told him that I want to write you a note and tell you what an outstanding job he did. We are very proud of him and will continue to work with him at home. Again, thank you for your dedication and courage to the job that you do. Cece Lyles, Very touching because it seems very sweet and it seems like something she would definitely say, you know, amazing.
Dr. Gina
Story that reminds all of us of that tragic day, but also of the powerful bond between a mama and a baby boy. Telling you what, it's a big one, guys. It's a big one. I never, you know, I'm an only child of two only children. So I didn't really have cousins. I didn't have brothers and sisters. I have nothing to compare my life to right now. But it is amazing to have a big family. I love having a big family and I love having boys and girls, and being the mom of boys is just. It's shocking to me. Just shocking and amazing.
David Brody
Yeah, it's. It's phenomenal. I must say. It makes me think about the old school of writing notes, you know, and letters. Can we please get back to that? You know what? I understand. There's just, you know, don't text and don't send an email to your kids. If you will. Go ahead and get out a pen and paper and write something down. Go old school.
Terrence Bates
School.
David Brody
They will freak out because they're like, why are you writing this down? But I tell you what, there's just something different about it. T. Bates. Just something different.
Terrence Bates
You know what? It. There is something different about it, but our kids are just different. I'll speak for mine. I wrote each of my daughters a letter when they were born, and the goal is that they won't open until they're 16. So at this point, my oldest, she's read her letter. She opened her letter. My youngest, she'll turn 16, 16 next year, and she'll read her letter. And I was also, you know, I was excited, and I was like, okay, what is the reaction going to be? And her reaction was like, okay, thanks. That was nice. And I was like, really? I was like, I poured my heart and soul out into this, and. And that was your reaction? And it's just. It's just a cultural thing. It's just kind of their era, so.
David Brody
It'Ll be more intense.
Terrence Bates
Just know.
David Brody
10 years, 20 years, 30 years down the road.
Dr. Gina
And my mom wrote letters to my kids. They still read them. And I asked, I told my kids, they said, what do you want for Christmas? I said, letters. I would love that. All right, you guys, war room is up next. Hug your children. Love your God. You go boldly now. Live the truth. Write a letter. Write a letter today. Let us know who you wrote.
David Brody
Get a number two pencil.
