Ahead on American Sunrise Shutdown Day 2. What exactly is Chuck Schumer's exit strategy? And is there any end in sight? We're going to ask Texas Congressman Randy Weber. He'll be here live. Plus, you're fired. Mass layoffs of federal employees expected to happen any day now due to the shutdown. Plus, what programs could be impacted. We're going to take a closer look. And cleaning up crime. Rav's own Brian Glenn was in Memphis with the Justice Department. There's Pam Bondi there as troops get ready to fix the mess in Memphis. We have those stories and more as American Sunrise starts right now. Good morning America.
Dr. Gina Louden
Welcome to American sunrise. Whether it's culture, we have breaking news to share with you.
Terrence Bates
Politics.
David Brody
President Trump is joining us live now from Florida.
Terrence Bates
We've got you covered.
David Brody
This is what it looks like to be a patriot.
Terrence Bates
We have to protect the American family.
Dr. Gina Louden
The American dream is still alive.
David Brody
I'm David Brody.
Terrence Bates
I'm terrence.
Dr. Gina Louden
And I'm Dr. Gina. Good morning. I am Dr. Gina. We are live with you from the Palm Beaches. Let's bring in David Brody. He's in Washington, D.C. and T. Bates is in our Denver newsroom. Good morning, Jennifer.
David Brody
Gentlemen, Good morning, Gina.
Terrence Bates
Dr. Gina and David. Good morning. Dr. Gina. I don't know if you have a referee shirt around anywhere, but you might want to go get it because I'm picking a fight with David right now. I'm starting to show off. Picking a fight with David. Here's the backstory, David. CBS News has this headline which reads trump Issues executive order declaring any attack on Qatar be treated as a threat to US Security. He goes on to write, in the event of such an attack, the United States shall take all lawful and appropriate measures, including diplomatic, economic, and if necessary, military, to defend the interests of the United States and of the state of Qatar and to restore peace and stability. So that's the backdrop. Here's where we're going to argue, David, because I'm going to say I told you so. The context of all of this, I believe, is the Israeli attack on. I said on. You said in. We talked semantics, Cutter, just a little while ago. And so I'm smiling here because it is semantics. But if you remember, we had a conversation. I think that's where a lot of this is coming from. From. In fact, President Trump, we're hearing, even asked Benjamin Netanyahu the other day when he was at the White House to call Qatar and to some degree apologize for that attack. What say and I know you've got lots of things on your mind, but I figured I'd at least start with a little bit of dissension within the ranks between us.
David Brody
Well, let me just be clear. No dissension in the ranks. I agree with you. Of course it was because Israel hit Qatar in on whatever you want to call it. That is definitely, that's definitely the reason. But, but let's be clear here. Look, I' I want to say a couple of things. You know, MAGA agenda, thumbs up.
Dr. Gina Louden
Right.
David Brody
We know that that's low hanging fruit. I, I've said I've been a big MAGA agenda fan for really ever since the escalator. Okay, but, but here's the thing, and I may not be good at ten dimensional geopolitical chess here, but what the heck is going on here? Seriously? I mean, I get it. Qatar is, you know, we have a working relationship with Qatar. I get that geopolitical stuff. But this is a bridge too far. This is a whole other level. I am sorry, but we're going to shed potentially American blood in defense of Qatar. That ain't make America great again. That's not MAGA. This I do not like.
Dr. Gina Louden
Dr. G. I'll tell you, actually, I think it's me who's going to have the exception with you, David Brody, because I'll tell you why this is maga. In my other life as a Republican advisor and strategist, I can tell you that I can see a reason why President Trump might have done this that is very maga. There is, especially among the younger base, as you know, a growing sentiment that President Trump is in cahoots with Netanyahu. I'm just going to say it like that. And that we're hearing more and more from that younger generation. You saw what happened. I believe it was at Turning Point earlier in the year, the survey. That generation does not like Netanyahu. And if President Trump comes out and says something like this, it definitely dispels that pretty quickly. How are you going to say President Trump is in cahoots with Netanyahu and that he takes orders from Netanyahu, which is a big look on Twitter, look on X. I don't have to tell you this is out there. I don't know how you're going to say that when he had something like this. Also, I think that, you know, Qatar does not want, they have a lot of money and they do not want these terrorists hiding in their midst. So I imagine maybe, and I don't know anything. This is not me Talking about something. I know, but I imagine maybe a phone call went out from Qatari leaders saying something along the lines of we will self rid of any terrorists. You don't have to worry about terrorists being here. We don't want them here anyway blowing things up. But we need you to call on Netanyahu to not bomb us again. That's how I think that went down. Just from a strategic standpoint, David, it makes ABC sense to me.
David Brody
Listen, all right, we're going to talk.
Terrence Bates
More about this, guys. I got to do this story has.
David Brody
Lots real quick that all may be true, Gina, for sure, but a central tenet of MAGA is not to get tangled up in foreign entanglements or foreign affairs, if you will. And this is a great example because in.
Dr. Gina Louden
The military, yeah, it was shocking. I'm not going to take that away. But I'm going to say from a strictly MAGA perspective, I can see how it would maybe not be the worst thing.
Terrence Bates
Hey, guys, let's get our Bible verse. I promise we'll talk more about this. We'll talk more about this.
Dr. Gina Louden
Who knew?
Terrence Bates
I've got some thoughts too. All right, Dr. Gina, our Bible verse, please.
Dr. Gina Louden
All right. It from Romans 10:13, a new king James version. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Pretty simple. But it also does say later in the Bible, I just want to point this out because I think it's very important. Many will come to me and say, Lord, Lord. And I will say, I never knew you. So it's not about just, just calling on the name of the Lord. You know, it needs to be spirit filled when you do it. And if you do and you mean it, then you will be saved. The government shutdown continues as it enters day two. The Senate failed once again to pass the clean continuing resolution due to Democrats concern concerns over health care. Vice President J.D. vance had this message for Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of the Schumer shutdown. Let me make one final point. I think a lot of Americans are asking themselves, why did this happen?
Terrence Bates
Why did the Democrats shut down the.
Dr. Gina Louden
Government despite, as Caroline said, voting on.
Terrence Bates
The exact same piece of legislation six months ago?
Dr. Gina Louden
And there are a lot of different spins that we can put on it, a lot of different answers that we could give, all of them true. One answer I already gave is that they want to give health care benefits to illegal aliens.
Andy Mangione
That is true.
Dr. Gina Louden
They gave us legislative text that would have undone us cutting off health care benefits for illegal aliens.
Terrence Bates
That's one of the things that they asked for.
Bo Davidson
But the reality here, and let's be honest about the politics, is that Chuck.
Dr. Gina Louden
Schumer is terrified she's going to get a primary challenge from Alexandria Ocasio Cortez. The reason why the American people's government is shut down is because Chuck Schumer.
Bo Davidson
Is listening to the far left radicals.
Dr. Gina Louden
In his own party because he's terrified of a primary challenge more. Let's bring in Texas Congressman Randy Weber. Congressman, interesting. You know, you go out on the street, you survey 100 people, no one even knows this is happening. I mean, this is not something that concerns average Americans. But if people do know about it, they have horrible memories because so often the president, whoever that is, has wanted to make the shutdown hurt badly. And they have done things like, you know, made sure that they put chains across our national parks and been very dramatic about the shutdown and the interviews or done it around Christmas and this or that, that's not going to happen this time. And the average American probably isn't going to feel it the way they did before because this president isn't dramatic. He's pretty straightforward with people. But the bottom line is this is the Schumer shutdown, no matter how you slice it. Congressman.
Congressman Randy Weber
Well, absolutely, Jen. Thanks for having me on. I chuckled when you guys were talking a little earlier about starting a fight with each other. I'll tell y' all didn't know this about me. I used to fight in the ring when I was in high school and I had to quit because of trouble with my hands. The referee kept stepping on them. But listen, this fight's been, I've been there since 2013. This is a fourth shutdown. Now President Obama, when he shut it down, he, he chained the gates and stuff like that. Walk through. People, people should go to be able to see the statues and everything they wanted to see. Now comes the Schumer shutdown. And like y' all pointed out, and I appreciate what y' all do so much because as y' all pointed out, this Schumer shutdown he started, they voted on this. You heard the J, you heard the vice president say Democrats voted for the same spending bill six months ago. Now they're tapping, tacking in 1.7 trillion with the T dollars for illegal health care. And they lied about us. Gene, Dr. Gina, more than you bargained for. I'm long winded here, but when we started making those cuts for Medicaid, we said no illegal aliens and no able bodied males, you know, 21 and above should be on Medicaid. And the Democrats lost their mind. This is a continuation of that.
David Brody
Yeah, for sure. There's a Hill headline out today and there's tons of headlines out there about these federal layoffs that are just a day or two away. It could happen any moment. We're waiting for it to happen today. Day you've got the budget director, obviously, Russ Vote, telling Republicans that they are coming. He said that on this shutdown call. What do you know about that, Congressman? Because you know, Russ Vote has been planning for this, that he when I say planning for this, he knew the Democrats would shut down the government. And he's got, he's ready to go with, with a plan. What do you think?
Congressman Randy Weber
Well, absolutely, he is. And we have to give President Trump kudos because he was a business guy. He can see this coming. He knows what's at stake. He'll operate through executive orders as much as he can to get as much done as he can. And the people and I so appreciate you all pointing out that Chuck Schumer's afraid of a primary opponent and this is about his political future, not about the American public. I think Russ Vo, who's very good on this stuff, President Trump is, too, saw that coming, was making plans to be on top of this from day one. And yet Chuck Schumer still persists, him and Hakeem Jeffries going out to the cameras and saying this is all about Republicans. And that's that could be even further from the truth.
Terrence Bates
All right, so how long do they keep up this charade? How long are Democrats going to ultimately stretch this thing out before we finally get back to a place where we reopen the government and get back to life as it should be?
Congressman Randy Weber
You know, what was it Yogi Berra said, the problem with predicting is you're dealing with the future. You know, I tell you what, the longest one that I was in 2018 when I was there or I still in 2018 was 35 days. The shortest one was three days in January of 2018. So January 2018 or December 28, we actually had two shutdowns. So we'll see how long they Congress.
Terrence Bates
May I interrupt real quick? I want to interrupt because. All right, I get it. It's probably not a fair question to predict how long. But it seems to me there's an impasse. Republicans aren't willing to budge on the whole issue of health care for illegals, which is a principal position. And it seems to me that Democrats aren't willing to budge on that. That's what they want to achieve so it seems that we're at a stalemate and neither side is going to give on that. Am I wrong there?
Congressman Randy Weber
No, I think you're right. And of course, the sad thing about it is the Democrats are banking because, you know, the midterms are coming up. And historically, the midterms are a problem for the, for the. Well, I'll just say the Republicans. And so we'll see if they want to play that game that long. They're trying to pander to their base. Thanks to Charlie Kirk, bless his heart, and his God rest his soul, because he's a great Christian. Gene, I appreciated your scripture earlier. People can see through this. I hope more and more younger Americans, we talked about them earlier, are seeing through this charade by Schumacher. Should we call the Schumer charade? Hopefully, they'll see through this. The midterms will be a little different. Coming up.
Dr. Gina Louden
Congressman Weber, always appreciate you, and I just love your draw. I just have to add that as somebody that loves the South, I just had to add that. Thank you so much for being with us.
Congressman Randy Weber
Thank you, Dr. G. We appreciate what y' all do. Thank y'. All.
Dr. Gina Louden
We appreciate what you do, too, sir. Thank you so much.
David Brody
You're the best. You're the best.
Dr. Gina Louden
And David Brody, I have to tell you, the chat is lit up with exactly what you were saying. They agree with you 1000%. They do not want to be messing in another war. I'm just, just setting the record straight here. David Brody.
David Brody
Trusting. All right.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah. All right.
David Brody
Going in now.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You better get in there. All right. T. Bates is in the RAV newsroom with the latest from the White House with more on the government shutdown. And also later, what does the shutdown mean for the American people who will be faced with the impact we have those answers just ahead. Get in the chat with us over on YouTube on Getter. We'll see you in there on the commercial. Back in a moment.
Terrence Bates
It this news break is brought to you by amac, association of Mature American Citizens.
David Brody
That is the Statue of Liberty. Give us your tired, your core, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free. Dot, dot, dot. So long as you are legal. Welcome back, everybody, to American Sunrise. I'm David Brody. Join us in the chat, YouTube, getter, X rumble, X, Y and Z and all that stuff.
Stephen Moore
All right.
David Brody
We've got a lot coming up. Speaking of coming up, we've got the great Brian Glenn standing by with T. Bates. And it's all sponsored by amac, the.
Terrence Bates
Association of Mature American Citizens is The conservative voice for Americans 50 and older. AMAC is fighting for the values that you hold dear. Join today. Together we can right the course of America. All right, let's bring in Brav Whitehouse chief White House correspondent Brian Glenn this morning. He is at the White House. Obviously, the shutdown is one of the big stories there at the White House. But, Brian, you've been picking up the frequent flyer miles. You're just getting back from Memphis, Tennessee. You were there with Pam Bondi, the Attorney general, as well as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. You had a chance to talk to Pam Bondi on the tarmac. Here was her answer to one of the questions about this shutdown not necessarily impacting the administration, continuing to move forward with its policies.
Dr. Gina Louden
President Trump knows when the government shuts down, crime doesn't shut down. And so we're not going to let that impact what we're doing and fighting to keep America safe. Memphis has the highest violent murder rate in the entire country. Just this year alone, they have had 150 murders. And it's going to stop.
Terrence Bates
So, Brian, run us through how this trip went, the atmosphere in Memphis, because I think that's very important. Anytime you're talking about bringing in National Guard troops to a city that's ravaged by crime, there's a certain atmosphere, certain feeling. What was your sense in terms of how receptive not only the governor but the mayor of Memphis are to having this sort of federal intervention? Yeah, well, Terrence, on the way to that command center, we were in the motorcade, we passed a digital billboard, and I didn't have my phone ready to take a picture, but it said, Memphis welcomes the National Guard. And that's all you kind of need to know about how Memphis is receiving this.
Congressman Randy Weber
Of course, the governor is on board.
Terrence Bates
The mayor of Memphis being supportive for the most part, of cleaning up a city. And of course, President Trump put this task force together back in September, mid September, called for this to be assembled. And it was really collective resources, police, local, state, federal coming together to crack down on crime. And by the way, it's led by the Tennessee National Guard. So it's even people who live and work amongst the community will be out there protecting the citizens of Memphis. And so this was received very well. And of course, we had another reception where everyone was in there. And he saw Headset delivering his message. Stephen Miller there, as well as Pam Bondi delivering the message that crime will no longer be tolerated on the streets of Memphis. So, Brian, 30 seconds. What city is next? We've of course, heard of Chicago, the ongoing crackdowns there, potentially Baltimore, expect there are new cities being added to that list weekly. Yeah, absolutely. Now, we've heard President Trump's talk about Chicago.
Congressman Randy Weber
Got to go to Chicago.
Terrence Bates
I think that's obviously on the plans. But I'm hearing of lately Portland might be teed up prime for this because local police are being told not to crack down on all the antifa activity that we've seen the last couple nights on the streets of Portland, a hotbed for antifa. So, Portland, you better keep an eye out. I think this crime brigade might be coming to your city very soon to clean up the streets of Portland. Brian Glenn reporting for us from the White House. Always good to see you, Brian. Appreciate it, my friend. Thank you. All right, let's think things over to Weather Nation meteorologist Tracy Anthony right now. Tracy, good morning to you.
Dr. Gina Louden
Hey, good morning, Terrence. We are still talking tropics. So Imelda making a pass just south of Bermuda throughout the overnight. Still a Category 1 hurricane, but going to be weakening here and pushing to the northeast rather quickly. But we'll still have some high surf advisories that will be possible at least for the coastal areas for the next day or so. But this storm system, we won't have too much to worry about anymore. So it is continuing to weaken. But a few more areas of interest, one out in the Atlantic for with a low chance for development. But there's another area of interest right near Florida. That's where we could have some more.
Emily Finn
Impacts a little bit closer to home.
Dr. Gina Louden
So we'll have the tropical moisture hanging out for the weekend. And as that low could potentially become tropical as we get into Saturday and Sunday. So, Terrence, we still have two months of hurricane season left. And I know it's, you know, we can't let our guard down just yet.
Terrence Bates
All right, Tracy, I appreciate it. I'll check in with you next hour. Looking forward to more of those reports about the tropics. In fact, I'd love a tropical drink right now, but I'm at work, so I'll forego that. Thank you. All right, Tracy, up next, making sure your voice is heard in Washington and our nation is kept on the right track. Find out how you play a part in ensuring that that happens. Right now, though, a quick look at this day in history. It was on this date in 1959 that the science fiction anthology TV series the Twilight Zone debuted. It became hugely popular in America as well as around the world. Created, written and narrated by writer Rod Sterling. Rod Serling. Excuse me. The show was known for its unexpected plot twists and its moral lessons. We'll have more American Sunrise coming your way in just a moment.
David Brody
That is the 247 White House. He never sleeps. He never will. Welcome back, everybody, to American Sunrise. You know, here on the big show, we talk a lot about faith, family and freedom and how important it is to protect those values. And that is exactly what amac, the association of Mature American Citizens, is doing every day. AMAC is the conservative alternative to aarp and their members receive discounts on travel insurance and more, plus access to helpful tools in the excellent AMAC magazine, which is filled with stories and information that truly matter. Now, right now you can receive up to 33% off when you choose a five year membership. That's just over $1 a month. Dollar a month. Come on. It's a great investment to hold Washington accountable and keep America strong. So join the community that's standing up for the future. This is what you do. You go to AMAC US Sunrise, and you become a member today. All right, for more, let's bring in the senior vice president of AMAC Action. That would be our good friend Andy Mangione. Andy, great to see you. Saw you down at the AMAC Action boot camp for patriots. That was phenomenal. We'll get to that in a moment. I want to talk about the shutdown. Democrats obviously have shut down the government. What is AMAC Action's position and how does this all affect seniors? Good morning to you.
Andy Mangione
Good morning, David. Great to see everybody again. You know, first, we can't ignore the fact that Republicans have acted responsibly. They're the ones who put forth a clean continuing resolution to keep the government open. It was the same short term funding extension that virtually all Democrats voted to pass 13 times during the Biden administration to keep the government open. It's the Democrats that are the ones who are not operating in good faith. Among other things, Democrats want to give free health care to illegal aliens paid for by hard working American taxpayer doll. They want to stop the nutrition program for Women, Infants and children. They want to halt benefits and services like suicide prevention programs for veterans. AMAC Ashen issued a statement in support of the clean funding the Republicans proposed. And we're very concerned about the Democrat proposal that includes $1.5 trillion in spending increases and a $50 billion cut to investments in rural health care that would greatly compromise the health care of seniors living in those areas.
Dr. Gina Louden
Andy, I first, I just have to say to our audience what genuine, amazing David Brody will attest to this after being with you guys this weekend. Genuine, amazing team. You have the nicest, most down to earth. Zen and I were talking about it. People you could just ever know. So I just want to thank you all for such an amazing and powerful weekend of boot camp action. AMAC Action is currently running a campaign asking members to leave comments on the Election Assistance Commission's website. It's short the EAC, it's called. Tell us about this campaign.
Andy Mangione
Well, the U.S. election Assistance Commission is kind of a little known bureaucracy, I should say. It's a bipartisan commission whose mission is to help election officials improve the administration of elections and also help Americans participate in the voting process. The EAC has opened a website. They're seeking public comments on a rule change. And it's an important one. This rule change would require documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. The National Voter Registration act grants the EAC the authority to require this proof of citizenship. So they are well within their jurisdiction to make this important rule change. Why do we need this rule change? Because under current law, voter registration for federal election relies on the honor system. Applicants merely check a box attesting that they are citizens. And that needs to change. AMAC members have responded in great numbers to our campaign so far. Leaving over 9,900 of the 15,000 total comments posted to the website telling the EAC to make this critical rule change. Comments close on October 20th and you can bet we'll be keeping an eye on this.
Terrence Bates
Andy. I realize my youthful exuberance in this face of a 25 year old denies my mature American citizen status, so I've got a bone to pick with you. That you didn't invite me to come as well. But I'll leave it alone. I'll be the bigger man. Andy. I was gonna even bring my flugelhorn to impress your cousin Chuck Mangione, but we'll leave that alone. No, seriously, I'm just razzing you. The U.S. house of Representatives recently passed an AMAC action backed bill to secure our border. Tell us about this legislative victory. This is really interesting.
Andy Mangione
It is, Terrence. This was an easy one to support. AMAC members have long been supportive of a secure border. And they're still greatly concerned over the number of illegal aliens the Biden administration let into our country that are still here. The Stop Illegal Entry Act. That's the name of the legislation. It strengthens penalties for illegal entry and re entry into the United States, ensuring that those who violate immigration laws face serious consequences. It also Provides additional resources for federal prosecutors, equipping them to hold repeat offenders and violent criminal aliens accountable. And we're so pleased that the bill AMAC Action supported that strengthens border security and establishes tougher penalties for illegal border crossers past the House of Representatives. And we look forward to shepherding it through the legislative process in the U.S. senate.
David Brody
Andy, listen, before you go, we got about 30 seconds or so, but that AMAC boot camp that Gina was talking about, boot Camp for Patriots, obviously was recently held in Virginia. We were both there. It was just phenomenal. So tell us more about these type of boot camps. How did that event go? What's coming up in the future? And by the way, the food in the green room was absolutely delicious.
Andy Mangione
Well, I helped set that up.
Terrence Bates
Rub it in, David. You know I like to eat.
Andy Mangione
We hold these events.
Dr. Gina Louden
David.
Andy Mangione
We hold these events to connect, inspire, and equip AMAC members and friends and AMAC Action volunteers with the knowledge and courage to stand strong. We believe each of us can be the change agent our nation needs. And together, under God, we are called to defend the sacred rights he has entrusted to us. Our event Regenerative last week covered the top issues facing our nation today, including immigration, education, election integrity, men invading women's spaces, and the dangerous resurgence of Marxist socialist ideology. I had the pleasure of serving on the Election Integrity panel discussion at the boot camp. We also held a touching tribute to Charlie Kirk. The entire event was well received and the feedback was great. And it was wonderful to have real America's Voice journalists David Brody and Dr. Gina Louden participating in our boot camp last week at Patrick Henry College.
Dr. Gina Louden
And you also had John Solomon and you also had Ben Berkwong from rav. It was a great event, but the audience made it so special. The things they said to us about how much it means to them what we do every day, it just meant the world. We got to meet some of our viewers, Genghis and Mrs. Jengis from the chat and many others. It was beautiful. And whoever catered the after party was phenomenal, by the way, whatever restaurant that was. And you, my friend, have great taste in cigars.
David Brody
Hey, Andy, thanks for being here. Yes. And by the way, hello to Kathleen and Kathleen, the two folks that I saw. There's others?
Dr. Gina Louden
But they were so great. Yes, they were great.
David Brody
Two separate Kathleen's.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yes.
David Brody
All right. Great to see.
Terrence Bates
Thanks.
David Brody
Appreciate it. All right, coming up, New York City mayoral candidate. That would be the Democrat socialist Zoram Mamdani. He has a new idea for tax taxpayer money waste in the Big Apple. What is he planning? Well, he's going to spend some money. And we have those shocking details next on American Sunrise. Stick around, everybody, on a Thursday.
Dr. Gina Louden
Welcome back to American sunrise. I'm Dr. G. Thanks for joining us. Time now for today's health news. It is sponsored by the Wellness Company. And under the microscope today, cool historic medical breakthrough. Listen up to this, you guys. Gene therapy slowing down Huntington's disease by 75%, offering new hope for patients. This gene therapy, I'm telling you what guys, this stuff is so exciting. There's so much medically happening. So cool to get to do a story on this every single day. This trial on Huntington's disease has reportedly slowed the progression of that disease by over three years. Huntington's disease is a rare inherited brain disorder that slowly destroys a person's ability to move, think and control emotions. It usually strikes adults in their 30s or 40s. It gets worse over time. Scientists say it is caused by a defective gene and if one parent has it, their children face a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. Right now, there's absolutely no cure. So this study run by Unique and led in part by University College London, used a therapy called AMT130 to target and suppress the Huntington gene. This marks one of the very first demonstrated disease modifying effects for Huntington's, not just symptom management. But we are not quite there yet. The results are preliminary and a small trial has been actually conducted. Researchers plan to submit for FDA approval in early 2026. So anyway, exciting stuff coming our way. It's really a new day in medicine, a new administration in Washington, D.C. and it's brought a lot of positive changes when it comes to fixing our broken, very broken health care system. But there's a lot that you're going to have to do on your own because government can't do anything, everything. And if we really want to make America healthy again, it's going to start at home with each of us. And that's where the Wellness Company comes in. You see and hear from their doctors all the time on this network and you know that their products are the gold standard to keeping you healthy. The Wellness Company makes sure you're prepared for whatever happens with their series of prescription med kits. These kits have an assortment of life saving medications and guidebooks tell you how to use the meds in the kits. Additionally, the Wellness Company offers a variety of products from parasite cleanses to methylene blue to weight loss drops. So much more. All of this can help you stay healthy and live A longer, more satisfying life. Make America healthy again. As I said at the beginning, starts at home. Do your part. Protect the health of yourself and your family. Go to TWC Health RAV. That's TWC Health RAV. Use the promo code RAV. It'll save you 10 BZINT. David, do you know everyone walks up. I mean, all the work I've ever done in my entire life, the books I've written, the things I try to do, all anyone is going to remember, I swear on my tombstone, it's going to say 10%. That's what everyone walked up to me and said at the AMAC boot camp. I'm okay with that, though. We've had.
David Brody
Well, you've been on your tombstone. It would make sense because you've been a great deal for America. How's that?
Dr. Gina Louden
I don't know what I'm talking about. I've been a 10% off sales tag. David Brady.
David Brody
That's right. Listen, Dr. G was 10% off. All right. Now to the ongoing government shutdown. It hasn't been fixed yet. This just in. Okay, whatever. Democrats say they're blocking votes on a clean continuing resolution because they say they want to extend Obamacare tax credits and reverse what they say will be Medicaid cuts in the one big beautiful bill that's now, by the way, one big beautiful law. And then you've got payments on Medicare and Medicaid. They will remain in place, but there could be delays. As for the irs, they will be keeping all of its employees on the job, at least for now. They have funding from 2022 that avoids furloughing any of those 75,000 employees for the first five days of the shutdown. After that, who the heck knows? For more, let's bring in the president for the alliance for IRS Accountability. That would be Chuck Flint. Chuck, good to have you this morning. So, look, this government shutdown is expected to go longer, clearly than five days. So, Chuck, wondering what you think is going to happen to the IRS if this goes on for weeks and how that might affect all of us as taxpayers. Good morning.
Terrence Bates
Good morning, David.
Andy Mangione
It's great to be with you. And the IRS will be treated, I.
Dr. Gina Louden
Assume, just like any other federal agency.
David Brody
As you mentioned, they've got money for five days from the Inflation Reduction Act. That takes us through October 7th. And then I would suspect, as you.
Terrence Bates
Heard President Trump say, I mean, there.
Dr. Gina Louden
Could be cuts to the federal workforce on the way.
David Brody
One thing that's very interesting to note.
Andy Mangione
Is that the treasury inspector general for.
Terrence Bates
Tax Administration Just came out with a report. They said that the 2025 filing season.
Andy Mangione
Was much more successful than 2024.
David Brody
That was despite all of the doom and gloom that we heard about cuts to the IRS affecting service and the filing season. That didn't happen.
Dr. Gina Louden
So clearly the IRS is capable of.
Terrence Bates
Doing more with less.
Andy Mangione
They have a workforce right now of about 74, 75,000.
Dr. Gina Louden
Chuck, I want to head over to New York City in our minds, where Zoran Mamdani is proposing taxpayers pick up the bill for an additional $100 million to help illegal aliens fight deportation. Mamdani said 400,000 New Yorkers are now at risk and roughly 200 got access to free lawyers. He went on the View yesterday to say that his Democrat socialism is in fact, not communism, that it just means you want to help people. But the problem is they're looking for equal outcomes, not equal paths to get there. Right?
David Brody
Dr. Gina that's exactly right. And I say this as a former prosecutor who spent a lot of time in a courtroom. This is nothing more than taxpayer funded lawfare.
Terrence Bates
And I'm going to tell you why.
Andy Mangione
Because what he intends to do is.
David Brody
Jam the court system by creating a backlog of deportation cases, which is exactly.
Andy Mangione
What this will do, and in effect.
David Brody
Obstruct the deportation process and, and resist.
Terrence Bates
The president, which you know, the left.
David Brody
Has been trying to do at every turn when it comes to immigration enforcement.
Andy Mangione
Even a Democrat council member in New York said that this plan would just.
Dr. Gina Louden
Be rewarding law breaking.
David Brody
Yeah, I mean, it's as if Mendhamni is trying to create some type of.
Dr. Gina Louden
A super sanctuary in New York. Yeah. Let me guess how much money the trial attorneys have put into his race? And let me say this, equal opportunity. Chuck, wouldn't that mean that everyone has the same opportunity to apply for citizenship to the United States? Not that you get to illegally come here and then you get to have the same opportunity as someone that has worked hard to be here and to make a living. And then you sue to get it because the trial attorneys put money in this guy's campaign. I mean, the whole thing is just, it's just, it's such a lie from the pit of hell. It really is.
David Brody
And the people who are actually the.
Andy Mangione
Most frustrated are the immigrants who have.
David Brody
Come here through the legal process.
Dr. Gina Louden
Exactly. They see this going on and to.
David Brody
Your point, it's just not fair. And it's also a punch in the.
Andy Mangione
Gut to taxpayers to know that their.
Dr. Gina Louden
Money is going to reward law breaking.
Terrence Bates
That's coming from a Democrat.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah. I mean, New York's going to see a mass exodus if this happens. Chuck Flint, thank you so much for being here.
Andy Mangione
Thank you for having me.
Dr. Gina Louden
All right, more American Sunrise after the break.
Emily Finn

A troubled teenager takes a leap of faith to attend camp A Week away in this series. Directed by Alan Powell and a cast that stars Antonio Cipriano, David Koechner, Leigh, Ellen Baker and Carlos Penavega. It has music from the same producers who created High School School Musical and Camp Rock.
Dr. Gina Louden
Why am I here?
David Brody
It's the question we're all asking ourselves.
Bo Davidson
This action packed, fun series will have you asking, why am I here? And what is my purpose? The series streams exclusively on Angel Studios platform. So the best way to see this new series is by joining the Angel Guild, a community of over a million members that have a vested voice in what series and films get greenlit by Angel. This means that A week away was voted on by members of the guild to move forward. So becoming a guild member is like being a member of the television academy. And you'll get all the perks from the comfort of your own home. So head on over to Angel.com radio to join the guild and watch A Week Away today.
Emily Finn
All right, for more, let's bring in RAV correspondent Bo Davidson, who is at an event for Angel Studios. Bo, what can we expect the next couple of days? How exciting.
Bo Davidson
Well, good morning to you, Emily and everybody there in West Palm. I am in Orlando at the International Christian Visual Media Storytellers Conference. Now, this conference has been going on Emily for about 50 years. It's hard to believe it's been that long. But when you consider that people, parents especially, started watching content they didn't want their kids to see, it wasn't Christian, it wasn't faith based, it was revolting. It was types of content you wouldn't show to anybody. And so they created this consortium basically of people to come together who are Christian content makers, storytellers, filmmakers, people who create limited series animated films. And they come together to this conference which has been going on for 50 years, like I said, to find out how to create better content, how to get distributed. And you think about even Amazon Prime, Emily, now, Netflix, Angel Studios. It's been proliferated to the extent now that there is a tremendous demand for faith based content. So over the next four days or so, these filmmakers are coming here, they're praying, they're worshipping, and they're finding out how can I get my content that God has laid on my heart out to this audience, out to the world to tell my story?
Emily Finn
That's amazing, Bo. And seems so on brand with what we've been seeing happening throughout America as a whole. What more can you tell us about this, this partnership between Real America's Voice and Angel Studios?
Bo Davidson
Well, for one thing, I'll tell you. Make sure you tune in tonight to Stenchfield because I'm going to be guest hosting and I'm going to speak with Kelly Shelton who is the vice president of marketing for Angel. And I've had a relationship with angel now for about four or five years going out to their Illuminate conference. It's amazing what Angel Studios is doing. And you think back, Emily, to the Chosen and Sound of Freedom, two projects that really just lit the world on fire. The little studio that could. Angel Studios, this little studio based in Provo, Utah, is now competing with major Hollywood studios. Because, Emily, because major studios didn't want to release Sound of Freedom, they thought the content was too tough for audiences. But in and of itself, the content was important for us to see because it raises the issue of human trafficking. And of course, everybody knows the chosen. So what angel is doing is partnering with RAV so that you can go to angel.com rav and become a member of the guild. Now, why is that important? Because guild members get to vote on what gets created. So that little blurb you did earlier where I was talking about camp a week away, that got voted on by the guild. If it doesn't have like a 70% or higher threshold, it doesn't move on to the next round. So you, as a member of the guild for RAV can now go watch the content, vote on it, and then become a member to watch everything angel has and continue to see great, great, great content that Angel's producing.
Emily Finn
That is awesome. Bo. I'm thrilled about the partnership. Thrilled to see you there in Orlando. Can't wait to hear more about the event. Thank you so much for joining American Sunrise.
Bo Davidson
Thanks, Emily.
Emily Finn
All right, coming up, more and more young people are flocking to church and returning to faith. What is driving that? We tell you next.
David Brody
God bless the.
Stephen Moore
In the beginning, God.
Dr. Gina Louden
Created the heaven and the earth.
Emily Finn
All right, welcome back to American Sunrise. It is time now for our moments of faith brought to us by Lee Greenwood and the God Bless the USA Bible in focus. Today, a massive national baptism event saw about 30,000 people declare their faith. With Gen Z men leading the trend, the movement breaks the post pandemic streak of religious detachment as young men turn to church and spiritual communities. Organizers say these baptisms signal a spiritual awakening across the country, particularly among youth in a time of cultural turmoil. Many see this as a resurgence of faith and rejection of secular narratives. For more, let's welcome to American Sunrise, Jonathan Shuttlesworth. Jonathan, thank you so much for joining us. Want to get your take on all of this? I must admit, you know, as a, as a person who's part of this generation, I am so proud of Gen Z that they are really coming back to the faith and coming back to church and what is most important, true values.
Congressman Randy Weber
And as a person that's way older than your generation, I too am very proud of your generation because Generation X definitely didn't do that. But I think for the reason that it's happening is because of my generation. Your generation had my generation as parents and saw how much their lives were horrible and thought I'm going to go in another direction.
Dr. Gina Louden
That's what helped.
Emily Finn
I think it's amazing to see. And you know, in just recent weeks with what happened to Charlie Kirk, his awful assassination, we've seen such a revival in so many people going back to church, especially among the youth and young people because he was such a, such a loud voice among youth organizations. Do you think that we're going to see more and more people? Is this trend going to continue in Gen Z?
Congressman Randy Weber
Absolutely. And it's going to continue worldwide.
Dr. Gina Louden
That's the thing.
Congressman Randy Weber
It's not just America. It's happening in England and through Europe, Canada. The the Bible says as much as the devil's active in the last days, God said, I will pour out my spirit on all flesh. And the first group he hit is your sons and daughters will prophesy. So God has a promise that before Christ returns, there's going to be an outpouring of God's spirit that affects all people. And it is great to be seeing it happening in real time.
Emily Finn
It really is. You know, what do you think is the one thing in terms of faith that the US Needs to focus on right now? I mean, we talk about it constantly on this program. So much turmoil, so much chaos, violence in major blue cities across the country. In terms of faith, I think it's great that people are going back to church. They're starting to open their Bibles and read scripture again. What do you think we need to do collectively as a country?
Congressman Randy Weber
I would say to not just go to church, but encounter God.
Terrence Bates
You asked about faith.
Congressman Randy Weber
Every great story of faith in the Bible began with somebody having an encounter with, with God. And I don't like when people are going back to church for the first time and they're talking about Jesus like he's George Washington, a great historical figure who accomplished things. Jesus is alive. And so it's great to go to church. It's great to read the Bible. But learn to know the author of the book, because Christianity is unlike every other religion, is about having a relationship with Christ. You can talk to him, you can talk to the author of the book. My cousin started going back to church and he said, sometimes I feel overwhelmed reading the Bible. What should I do? I said, remember, you can talk to the person that wrote the book. And that's what I want people to do, is have a real relationship with Jesus Christ.
Emily Finn
I think that is so well said and so spot on, too. You know, I try to pray the rosary as often as I can, but I find myself in the middle of prayers just talking to Jesus as if he's my friend. I think that's a really important way to develop that relationship and, and make sure that it's at the forefront of your life. Jonathan Shuttlesworth, Always enjoy having you on the show. Thanks for being here.
Dr. Gina Louden
Thanks.
Emily Finn
Be sure to tune in to revival today, this Sunday morning at 9:00am we'll be back with the second hour of American Sunrise in just two minutes. Stick around.
David Brody
Good morning, America.
Dr.
We have to protect the American family, the American dream.
Dr. Gina Louden
Is still alive.
David Brody
I'm David Brody.
Terrence Bates
I'm terrence.
Dr. Gina Louden
And I'm Dr. Gina.
Terrence Bates
Breaking news from Real America's Voice. We begin the second hour of American Sunrise with breaking news out of the United Kingdom. At least two people are dead, three more seriously injured after a man rammed his car into a synagogue in Manchester, England. All of this, of course, comes as the Jewish community around the world observes Yom Kippur. It is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. After ramming that car into the synagogue, the man also got out and stabbed at least two people to death, injuring even more people. This is obviously a developing situation that we're monitoring. We will update you on this situation throughout the morning as we get new information. Now, let's bring in Dr. Gina and David to talk a bit more about this. David, what a shocking morning, particularly on this holiest of holy days in the Jewish faith. Jewish faith, excuse me. To have this sort of attack on a synagogue, not only shocking, but I think one could argue anti Semitic.
David Brody
Well, I'll go with the anti Semitic. I'll take away the word shocking. And that's the sad part. It's not shocking. And that's where we are forgetting America and the world, really. And look, in Britain, just the stats prove it out. Hate crimes up 13% more against Jewish people in the UK, and that was in 2024, 2025. The numbers are off the chart in the first six months or so. So this should surprise no one. The UK has gotten more and more secular. Well, I shouldn't say secular. They are secular already. But quite frankly, the Muslim influx in the UK has been proven. Gina, you've been over there, you've been to Manchester. Tell us more.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah, it's a scary, dark place, and it's a spiritual darkness that you can feel when you're there. They are under Sharia law. They've used this as their epicenter, the Islamists, to attempt to take over the uk. And many of them don't even deny this. They don't even deny this. They are having children 10 to 1 of the rest of the population of the UK. Those numbers might even be worse. That's actually. That's old data. And this is a great reason why the entire west needs to. As Charlie said, I want to bring it back around to what we're doing in the US because, as Charlie said, we need to be getting married, we need to be having babies, we need to be creating families, we need to be nurturing families. We need to be against any policy that takes fathers out of the home. Right. Like welfare takes fathers out of the home. It just does. We need to be back in church. All the things that we talk about on this show every day. But this is why those messages are so important, because. Because this is the end result. This is the progressive dream. And I want to be really clear about that because we don't often equate what's happening in the US to where they've already established it in the UK but there you go. This is exhibit A. I was there, you guys. It is dark. They don't allow dogs. They'll put fentanyl or other things on the ground if you have a dog, because they don't like dogs, because they think they're unclean. The list goes on and on. This isn't racial. This isn't religious. This is. We are literally talking about freedom and life and death. You guys. There's a very big difference between Islam and the Islamists. And this is what you see when you have Islamists take control in sharia law.
Terrence Bates
Well, Dr. Jean and David and other headlines domestically, it is day two of the government shutdown, and a resolution doesn't appear to be in sight. Another attempt to get federal agencies back open and failed on Wednesday, largely along party line votes, as Senate Republicans weren't able to convince enough Democrats to cross the aisle. Following the vote, the White House trotted out Vice President J.D. vance to explain how Democrats are holding government funding hostage in order to give health care to illegal immigrants.
Dr. Gina Louden
So what the Democrats are engaging in.
Terrence Bates
Is a sleight of hand.
Dr. Gina Louden
They're saying, no, no, no, those weren't.
Bo Davidson
Illegal aliens who were getting health care.
Terrence Bates
Benefits, even even though everybody, excuse me.
Dr. Gina Louden
Knows they were in the country illegally.
Bo Davidson
It's a lie told by the Democrats.
Dr. Gina Louden
That they're not trying to give health.
Terrence Bates
Care benefits to illegal aliens.
Dr. Gina Louden
It's a lie that is obviously untrue.
Terrence Bates
If you just look at the text.
Dr. Gina Louden
That they gave us. And all you have to do is understand that this is about who benefits.
Bo Davidson
We think the American people's government ought to benefit American citizens.
Terrence Bates
The Democrats are willing to shut it.
Dr. Gina Louden
Down to benefit illegal aliens. The contrast couldn't be more clear.
Terrence Bates
The U.S. senate has the day off in observance of the Jewish Yom Kippur holiday. Senators are expected back at work tomorrow, though the Supreme Court rules to overrule President Trump and uphold Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook's right to stay on the job. Cook will remain at the Fed for the time being after the SCOTUS justices declined to act on the Trump administration administration's effort to immediately fire Cook from the central bank. The high court is set to hear arguments on the matter. In January, President Trump tried to fire Cook amid a mortgage fraud investigation surrounding Cook. A lower court blocked the firing, so the Trump administration appealed to the Supreme Court. The decision means that Cook will be able to take part in the remaining two Fed meetings this year, including the upcoming October interest rate setting commission committee meeting. Caught on camera a New York City public housing tower collapsing and falling to the ground.
David Brody
Oh, my God. The whole thing exploded.
Terrence Bates
The 20 story high brick chimney at that Bronx building you just saw there gave way Wednesday, sending tons of debris plummeting onto the sidewalk and the kids playground below. New York Mayor Eric Adams says a major disaster was avoided as no one was hurt and there were no deaths here. Investigators are trying to determine if an early morning explosion in the boiler room may have contributed to the collapse. Mayor Adams says October 1st typically marks the first day of heating systems being turned on for the season there in New York City and that may have caused the explosion. That's a quick check of your headlines. Now let's get a quick check of your weather forecast with meteorologist Tracy Anthony. Tracy, good morning.
Dr. Gina Louden
Hey, good morning. You know, for the first week in October, we're definitely starting to see those leaves changing across the Northern.
Terrence Bates
All right, Tracy, again, we're having problems with your audio. We apologize. We're going to try to get that worked out. Tracy, we'll try to check back with you later on. Now let's get over to David. David, good morning.
David Brody
Good morning, T. Bates. All right. So as we mentioned earlier, Senate Democrats blocked another measure yesterday that would have reopened the federal government until November 21st. It was the third time now in two weeks that Democrats rejected the CR passed by the House and the government remains closed. Joining us now to explain what all of this means in economic terms and many other terms, former Trump economic adviser and co author of the book the Trump Economic Miracle. That would be Stephen Moore. Stephen, good to see you. What do you think? How long do you expect this to go on? And by the way, we're getting news this morning just in the last hour. President Trump put this out on Truth Social. He said, I have a meeting today with Russ Vogt that he put he of Project 2025 fame to determine which of the many Democrat agencies, most of which are a political scam, he recommends to be cut. Here we go, Riff, if you will. Steve, what do you think?
Stephen Moore
Yeah, well, great to be with you guys. I think that Chuck Schumer Democrats badly miscalculated here. They thought that the American public would, would blame Trump and the Republicans. But in this case, and by the way, I've been doing this for 40 years, so I probably lived through about 15 of these government shutdowns. And they're temporary. It's only the non essential services that are affected. And given the fact that we're spending hundreds of billions of dollars on non essential services and the fact that we have a $2 trillion deficit, maybe we should just get rid of non essential services.
David Brody
Right.
Stephen Moore
That would be a good way to save money. So I want to make sure people understand the vital things that we do need from our government are protected. The air traffic control system, the national defense of the country. Those kinds of things obviously continue. Look, the Democrats are basically saying we want Medicaid for illegal immigrants. They are saying they want to restore one and a half trillion dollars of cuts that were made back in July when we passed the big beautiful bill. We can't afford it. Simply, it's simple. We can't afford another trillion and a half dollars of deficit spending. And that's basically the Democrats position. I think in the end of the day, Schumer will cave in because Republicans have the kind of moral and fiscal high ground here.
Terrence Bates
Hey, Steve, Terrence here, always good to see you. Until Chuck Schumer does cave in, do you foresee any larger impacts to our economy? The things that come to mind for me would be a potential impact on credit rating or something like this. The longer this shutdown continues, do you foresee any impact beyond kind of the immediate.
Stephen Moore
Very tiny, you know, there will.
Dr. Gina Louden
Be a little bit.
Stephen Moore
This is a, this is an ugly thing for the country. It looks like, you know, we can't get it together together. So, yeah, maybe there will be a slight increase in the interest rates as it adds some doubt about whether Washington can function. But look, the Democrats, they, I've been saying for this for three months. I said this on your show three months ago. The Democrats wanted this shutdown. This is clearly the Schumer shutdown. They thought they would win. And you can't blame them for thinking they were going to win because, because out of the last 15 government shutdowns, the media, have you noticed this? The media always blames these things on Republicans, whether it's a Republican President, Democratic President, Republican Congress, Democratic Congress. It's always the Republicans fault. But in this case, I have to say, even the media is saying, what is this about? Why is Schumer not coming with a deal? Why can't they at least come up with a 7 or 14 or 21 day temporary solution here to keep the government open and functioning. I'm very pleased, by the way, that Russell Vought is saying, well, look, some of these people we should just fire indefinitely and just replace them with no one. This is called draining the swamp. And this is what Americans voted for.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah. Talk to us a little bit about Russ. Vote, because I'll tell you what, I've been very impressed. It takes a lot of stamina to do some of the things he's done. Talk to us about him and his future and not only this administration, but maybe beyond that.
Stephen Moore
Well, first of all, the Trump performance on the economy has been amazingly strong. In fact, there was a big piece that came out this, this morning that showed that all of the economists had, do you guys remember what everybody said, oh my God, Donald Trump's going to cause another, you know, Great Depression and the stock market's going to crash. And, and this was a more liberal economist said, well, we were all wrong because look at, we have record high stock market today. We have the lowest energy prices we've had in 10 years. We're producing more energy than any other time in, we reduced regulatory, regulatory costs by a trillion dollars. The average family just in the first nine months of Trump's presidency has seen an eleven hundred dollar increase in their, in their pay relative to inflation. I mean, I could go on and on, but Trump is off to an amazing start in his first nine months in office. This is a stupid time for Democrats to play politics when things are going so well and shutting down the government.
David Brody
Yeah. Hey, Steve, what do you think, Russ? Vote. Where do you think he'll recommend to the president in terms of where to start looking for mass layoffs? Do you have any predictions on that state?
Stephen Moore
That's a great question. I think the State Department, the Labor Department, the Education Department, a lot of the departments that we don't need in Washington and never have needed IRS and don't really provide any value added. You know, at least half of the people in the State Department are leftover lefties from the seventies that have been in the State Department and have cobwebs in their office. Get rid of those people, people. This is what a business would do. I mean, if you've got a business and you're losing $2 trillion, you better start cutting your expenditures.
David Brody
What about the IRS? Gina was talking about IRS. What do you think there?
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah.
Stephen Moore
Oh, that's a good one, too. You know, Trump is really, he's really slimming down the irs, the ira. Remember, it was Biden who added tens of thousands of agents so they could harass people like me and you that have a conservative point of view. They weaponize the irs and that is a great way to downsize. And all we need is a simple flat tax and we wouldn't need 80,000 IRS agents going looking at every private aspect of our life.
Dr. Gina Louden
Just one more quick ending. Steve, I want to ask you, we have no time left, but do you, because I know you were so anti tariff. I wonder if you've come around on that and if you think some of the money we're making from tariffs might be able to take the place of the federal income tax.
Stephen Moore
Well, that's an interesting idea. I love that idea. If we could actually replace the federal income tax with tariffs, I'd be awful word. I think the tariffs have probably lost. I mean, knocked about 1 percentage point off of the growth rate. It has caused some turmoil in supply chains. But I've always said this on your show, Gina. I don't like the tariffs, but I like the trade deals that Trump is coming up with because they're very pro America.
David Brody
Yeah. Hey, Steve, looking forward to seeing you next time. Somewhere in the Oval Office impromptu with some charts. Who knows when you're gonna pop up.
Stephen Moore
See you guys later. Have a great week.
Dr. Gina Louden
Thank you. Thanks, Steve.
David Brody
Thanks, Steve. All right, Coming up, CNN and MSNBC are watching viewers vanish as Americans tune out their left wing coverage. We're gonna examine how the legacy media is losing even more influence to people like us. Thank you. Thank you, Rav. We're back in a moment.
Emily Finn
Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm American Sunrise contributor Emily Finn. It's great to have you with us this morning. Time now to stay awake, not woke. And who is woke? Today, the left wing media. CNN and MSNBC are in a ratings free fall. Last week, CNN pulled in just 570,000 viewers in primetime. MSNBC only 854,000. Fox News drew 2.6 million that same week, more than both of them combined. Even News Nation beat them out during coverage of the Charlie Kirk memorial. CNN and MSNBC now struggle to reach audiences they once claimed to dominate. And many say this marks the collapse of legacy media. Let's bring in the rest of the American Sunrise team to discuss. Terrence, we've been hearing about the slow death of the mainstream media for a long time, but this feels like a new low. What's your take?
Terrence Bates
You know what? I will make the argument that what we once considered mainstream Media isn't mainstream anymore that Americans have so many different sources. And it's not just Americans, it's really all of us around the world have so many different sources to get information. I think the customer base, if you will, the viewership, the readership is a much more nuanced, nuanced readership and viewership. And so people are going to different sources, not just one source, to get their news and information and to get a perspective and to add to that. Dr. Gina, I would also say that I think what we're finding is that people are going to a number of different sources just to get breadth and to get real perspective and context to what's happening, not just to one source. So there may be someone watching as CNN who also will come to us to get a different perspective in order to make a more informed and more realistic opinion and decision about what's happening in the world and happening around them, which is fine.
Dr. Gina Louden
I mean, I think we would all encourage that. We want people to formulate their own opinions. That's what this Constitutional Republic of America is all about, right? And always has been all about. It's those who are so narrow that they only watch a left wing network and never get another opinion or ridicule and mock or troll those who have other opinions. Those are the ones. And we all know this. We all know we all have throngs of friends, right, that we used to have, that won't be our friends anymore because we have a different opinion from them. Why not have the conversation? And if you can't have the conversation, if you can't hold up your own argument and bolster it with facts and data, then maybe it's time to question. And I love that we had Tom in our chat today talk about one of the ways that he still gets confused about some of the issues, you know, And I said, you know, that's what's great about you, is you keep an open mind, Tom, and you always have. And I think that's great. That's where we all need to be as conservatives, as liberals, it doesn't matter. If we can listen to the other side and we can talk our talk and use data and facts to back us up, then that's great. But I also want to say we need to credit Zin Master, who held through years of all of the, every kind of bullying you can think of to maintain an independent network, which is never easy underneath all the threats and all the rest of it. And we also need, Zen would say, to credit this audience who has stood by us, many of them, from the very beginning. And that is just a great testimony to the American spirit in my mind.
Emily Finn
Emily I think that is so well said, Gina. It is a fight. It really is. You know, I feel like people that, that, you know, are on this side of the political aisle just have to fight so much harder because the mainstream is working against them. So I'm really happy that you said that, Emily.
Terrence Bates
And Dr. Gina, if I can just add and Dr. Gina, I probably get on your nerves with this, but I really do believe that that's part of our mission here at Real America's Voice is to encourage and to be examples of civil discourse that we can agree to disagree, but that we would be open to another side. We would be open to another perspective. And if we choose to challenge that perspective, that we challenge it from a place of respect and a place of information and fact, not a place of emotion. And I think that's part of our calling here at Real America's Voice. Just my two cents. I know I say it all the time, but I firmly stand on that also.
Emily Finn
Extremely well said, Terrence. From a place of respect is the most important thing. Great conversation.
Dr. Gina Louden
Leading with love as always. Always leading with love. Always. That's really important.
Emily Finn
All right, coming up, we're headed down to Wall street for the opening bell. An insight into how to hold hold on to your hard earned dollars with some common sense. We'll be back with more American Sunrise.
Terrence Bates
In just two minutes.
Dr. Gina Louden
Foreign.
Terrence Bates
Welcome to Miami. Miami, good morning to you. Looking good on this Thursday morning. We're getting ready for the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. It is set to ring here in just a few minutes. We'll of course take you there for the opening bell in short order. So far, generally so good. Right now the Dow is down, but the s and P500 and the NASDAQ are up. As you can see, the only other blemish on our big board here is crude oil, which is also down. All of that could change in short order, though. Again, we'll take you to New York for the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange here in just a little bit. In fact, let me look at my clock. In about six minutes is when the opening bell will ring. Now let's get you over to David. David, we get a chance to have more of a conversation this morning. I'm looking forward to this. And please do not bring up up the New York Jets. I don't want to talk about them. Then again, I also don't want to Talk about my Chicago Bears because we're darn near in the same boat as you. So let's just leave football out of this.
David Brody
If we had, if we had a conversation about the jets and Bears, it would take about four seconds and we wouldn't want to talk about it. So instead, T. Bates, let's do this as we wait for the bell. Let's take a look what's happening with the Fed. Let's keep it business related. President Trump turning up the heat on Fed Chair Jerome Powell, calling him an obstructionist for refusing to lower interest rates. Of course they did. Finally too late. Power, right? T. Bates they finally came down with a quarter point or so. You wonder what the chances that interest rates are going to come down even more maybe next month. I don't know. I don't see it. I think this might be one and done for now. What do you think?
Terrence Bates
I don't know. There is another committee meeting to set interest rates coming up in October. You know, I'm still in September mind frame. And so I had to look, look at the calendar. I was like, oh, wow, it is October. It's the 2nd of October. So there's another meeting that's going to happen this month. I'm not so sure. And we just kind of heard that when we were talking with Steve in our last segment or maybe segment before about this shutdown potentially impacting interest rates as well. I think there may have been a shot at interest rates coming back down potentially a quarter percentage point or something like that, but the Fed may be a little bit more gun shy. Now, again, I'm not the expert on this, but I think conventional knowledge is that given what's happening in Washington, D.C. right now with the government, given the shutdown, Fed governors may be a little bit more gun shy about acting on interest rates. So, you know, Democrats may have shot the country in the foot in that respect as well. David?
David Brody
Yeah, speaking of Federal Reserve governors, what about Lisa Cook? Of course, the big news, the Supreme Court saying, no, you can keep your job, Lisa Cook. Or actually, I should say, yes, Lisa Cook, you can keep your job for now as a Federal Reserve governor. But the caveat, of course, is that they are going to hear oral arguments. The Supreme Court will in January. So this thing will obviously be decided. You know, this has been Trump's M.O. i feel like President Trump back in the day, Donald Trump, if you will, as a, as a builder and developer, he's like been in court since he's been in his 20s. I mean, he's in Court all the time. And it just seems like he wants to push the envelope, envelope and see what the Supreme Court is going to ultimately say about whether or not he has the right, if you will, from an executive branch standpoint, to fire a governor at the Federal Reserve. Your take, T. See.
Terrence Bates
And David, that point that you just made to me is the really overriding point. Lisa Cook simply happens to be the current face of the issue. But the bigger picture, as you aptly pointed out, is does President Trump, Trump have the right to fire Fed Board governors and other appointed officials? And that is going to be the bigger argument. And that is, I hate this word because I think it is so overused. But in this particular case, I think it's appropriate that is going to be precedent saying if the Supreme Court decides, yes, the executive, the chief executive of the government has the right to fire people who are in appointed positions, then that will ultimately set precedent, not to just for the Trump administration, but for administrations moving forward. And so that's really what I'm keeping a closer eye on. Again, for me, Lisa Cook is simply the face of the argument. But the bigger issue is how far can President Trump go in terms of firing people who are in appointed positions, which again, will set precedent. It will create a platform for other presidents moving forward in terms of how much authority they ultimately have.
David Brody
Yeah. T. Bates, I see the clock. We got about 30 seconds, seconds or so, the shutdown. What do you think? I mean, I'm still trying to figure out Chuck Schumer's exit strategy here. He doesn't have one. I mean, you know, eventually he's going to have to cave. I guess the only thing I can think of to get him not off the hook, but a little bit off the hook is that moderate Democrats bail him out. In other words, moderate Democrats say, okay, we're going to go with Republicans. And Schumer can say, look, I, I didn't want to open the government again, but those moderate Democrats, what am I going to do? There's nothing I can do because. Because the far left is not going to be happy with him.
Terrence Bates
Yeah, this is the game of chicken, right? Everybody is staring each other down and who's going to blink first? I think that's what it comes down to. And you make a great point. It's probably going to be those moderate Democrats that will ultimately blink, cross the aisle in order to get this thing back open, because Republicans definitely aren't going to blink. And Chuck Schumer is going to put toothpicks over his eyelids to make sure.
David Brody
He doesn't blink toothpicks over his eyelids. Please, can we have an AI picture of that? Okay. All right, T. Bates, stand by. Right there. Nice picture. There it is. There it is. But you're not Chuck Schumer. Okay, time for the opening bell. That means get ready. T. Bates, it's you again. And not that you, but our segment is sponsored by amac.
Terrence Bates
The association of Mature American Citizens is the conservative voice for Americans 50 and older. AMAC is fighting for the values that you hold dear.
Ben Berkwam
Join.
Terrence Bates
Join today. Together we can write the course of America. We're less than a minute from the opening bell ringing on Wall Street. The applause is underway. You can see they are at the podium, which means that the bell is going to ring here. It looks like this is Iris, or Iris, that is at the podium. So the opening bell going to ring here in short order. And then the markets will officially open and we'll get a sense of how things are looking. You may remember, remember about six minutes ago I showed you the Dow, which was down slightly. So now that the market's officially open, let's take a look at our big board. And it looks like the Dow has rebounded, at least to open it. Well, it did for just a second and then it went back to the red. As you just saw live on the air there. The S P 500 and the NASDAQ also are up. Right now. We've got a couple of other blemishes on our board, but a long day of trading is now underway. And so all of that could quickly turn around. Quite literally in the blink of an eye. Things could turn around for us. We'll continue to monitor it for you. All right, folks, let me just be blunt. Right now, gold is up around 40% this year. Now that's not speculation, that's reality. If a portion of your savings isn't diversified into gold, you're missing the boat. Here are the facts. Inflation is still way too high and the US Dollar is still too weak. Plus the government debt is insurmountable. That's why the central bank and central banks Invest General are flocking to gold. They are the ones who are driving prices up to record highs. But it's not too late to buy gold from the Birch Gold Group and to get in the door. Right now, the Birch Gold Group will help you convert an existing IRA or 401k into a tax sheltered IRA. In gold, you don't pay a dime out of pocket. And in order to get more information about this, all you have to do Is text the word America to the number 19 to claim your free information kit. There's no obligation here, just useful information. The best indicator of the future is the past. And gold has historically been a safe haven for millennia. So what else can you say? Simply text the word America to the number 9898. 98. Do so right now to claim your free information kit on gold. Again, text the word America to The the number 989-898. Protect your future today. With the Birch Gold Group still to come here on American Sunrise. President Trump's crackdown on Antifa is making waves. And a new poll shows that most Americans are backing the commander in Chief. We'll break it down and what it means for the fight against domestic terror. That's next.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah, I know. I'm such a mom, Terrence. I'm telling Terrence to be careful out there. And Terrence is like, oh, I don't think I have to. I'm like, yeah, you have to be careful. Everybody has to be careful these days. You are hunted if you are going to church, if you have a Jesus flag in your front yard telling you what. Be careful, guys. Be ready, be equipped. Don't let it affect your behavior, but absolutely be ready. Welcome back to American sunrise. I'm Dr. G. Thanks for joining us this morning. Tactical training, guys. Sorry I'm so add. You guys are like, what is she rambling about? We invite you to join our conversation on getter and rumble Time now to take the political pulse of America. Here's the beat. Today, President Trump's decision to designate Antifa a domestic terrorist organization getting the support of most of Americans. A new Rasmussen poll shows 53% of likely voters approve the move. Approve the move, including nearly four in 10 who strongly approve of it. Now only about a third of voters disapprove, with just over a quarter strongly opposed. Why would you oppose this? Just 11% say they're not sure. The poll highlights a clear split, but also a solid majority of Americans who agree with the President that Antifa is not just a movement, it's a domestic threat. And it comes by a lot of names. Also, remember when they used to be called Occupy Wall Street? Now, am I dating myself or what? That's like the Tea Party days. That's who Antifa was. Let's bring in David Brody and Terrance Bates to react. David, you're not surprised by these numbers? I guess the only thing that surprises me is that anyone thinks Antifa should just be allowed to roam free and terrorize people. And as I've talked about, and as I said on the break, there's these Facebook groups now. There are these Facebook groups now. I've got people in the chat correcting our English, so I got to be careful here, but who are literally saying, they're saying, go to churches, take pictures of people's license plates. Take pictures of people who have American flags in their yard. And let's torment these people, if not worse. David Brody. It's scary out there. You gotta be ready.
David Brody
Gotta be ready. I mean, you're right. I mean, it's just, sadly, you have to be ready. And that's where we are in America today. As for the numbers on Antifa, no, it doesn't surprise me in terms of the 53% that think antifa should be designated a domestic terrorist organization. Here's why. Because safety matters and people want to feel safe. So that should not surprise us. I will say this. I really don't want to come in contact with the 11% who aren't sure. You know, listen, at that point, I'm going to skip coffee with any. Did I say coffee? Coffee with any of those people. Terence, you're going to skip coffee? What are you going to do? What are you going to do? T?
Terrence Bates
Yeah, I'm not going to the gas station when I see their cars parked there because I'm taking pictures of license plates too. If you look like an antifa member, I'm completely avoiding you. Now, to your point, though, I think the numbers are probably pretty accurate, maybe even a little bit lower. I think Americans are sick and tired of these antifa sorts of groups tearing up cities and being so disruptive. And so at this point, it has risen to the point point that they are homegrown terrorists that and. And probably should be designated as such.
David Brody
And by the way, let me just say this thing about an ideology, okay? Yeah, it's an ideology and a movement. It can be both. I mean, this idea that, you know, I mean, every movement has an ideology. So, you know, to me, it's insane to even just say it's only an ideology. Okay, if it's only an ideology, then you wouldn't have these, quote, groups. And they are groups groups. And Ben Berkwam, who we're going to hear from in a moment, can talk about this. But you know, they have local groups all over the country now, you know, Is there an antifa meeting with a potluck dinner at 7pm at the Antifa headquarters? No, but that's not how it works. Dr. G. Yeah.
Terrence Bates
Hey, If I can just add, even if we don't agree with the ideology, the ideology itself isn't the problem. It's the action based on that ideology that rises to the problem. When you start burning down buildings, when you start attacking police officers, when you start making people uncomfortable in their own cities, that is the problem, not necessarily the ideology. Whether you agree with it or not, it's the action that comes as a result of that.
Dr. Gina Louden
It's easy to say buildings were burned, but those were businesses, those were people's livelihoods. People have been killed for this. Police officers have been killed and hurt for this, severely and critically in some cases, and lives altered. So, so this is very much more than an ideology. And as you know, troops are arriving in Portland now as part of President Trump's plan to restore the law and order in the city. The President has referred to Portland as war ravaged. Joining us now exactly from the pit of the storm there in Portland is real America's Voice correspondent, the guy who goes to the danger. You're like a first responder in a lot of ways. But good morning, you're on the ground there in Portland right now. What are you hearing and seeing from those around you who know why you're covering this and what you're covering?
Ben Berkwam
Well, first your guys point. Antifa is a terrorist organization. But it's not just Antifa. The ideology is the beginning of the problem, but it's the action that designates them as a terrorist organization. As Terrence said, if you, you can have, have a lot of crazy thoughts, but if you don't act on them, we don't, we don't prosecute thoughts. But, well, not yet anyway. As you look at England and some of the other places that are going that direction coming soon, it is, it absolutely is a terrorist organization. And what's crazy is those 25% that you said or 24%, whatever the number was, that, that don't think it should be or strongly don't think it should be. That's the scary part because you've got people that have been lied to or in some cases they're part of it. They believe that they have a right to overthrow this country. They believe this country is a tyrannical government that needs to be overthrown and replaced by a utopian socialist, communist, jihadist, anarchist, you pick the label government. That's their objective, is to overthrow this country. And they don't mince words about it. Antifa doesn't mince words about it. They absolutely are an organization. In fact, they are the Weaponized violence, arm of the Democratic Socialists of America. They work hand in hand. All of these groups work together. And that's, to me, the key is it's not just antifa. It's all of these groups whose ideology is opposed to America and the Western civilization. And so though they all need to be lumped together, there needs to be a conspiracy investigation into all of them. They need to be prosecuted. And if they're traitors to our country, they need to be received the penalty for being a traitor to our country.
David Brody
Country.
Ben Berkwam
And we have a lot of those in our country now. But behind me, you can see the ICE building. This time of day, they're all asleep. They all went back to their mom's basements and. But typically at night, all night, every night for the last nine months, you'll have some sort of demonstration. We've had arrests every single night. You have these guys coming here, blocking ICE from being able to do their jobs, trying to prevent them from being able to go out and get the illegal aliens that they invited in and the NGO that also work with them invited in. It's all an ancestral disgusting pot of the worst of the worst people in our society working to undermine our government.
David Brody
Yeah, I think the song goes, the freaks come out at night or something like that. So in this case, the anarchists come out at night. So, Ben, let's get to some numbers on the ground. We hear 200 National Guard. Are they in, in Portland? Are they coming to Portland? What is the deal there? And also I've seen video online about federal agents taking on some of what's going on, the stuff that's going on there at the ICE headquarters. So because there's a difference between the federal agents, obviously, and the National Guard. So what's happening on the ground there.
Ben Berkwam
Specifically right now you have a combination of FBI, federal law enforcement agents, as well as, as ICE and Border Patrol that are, that are protecting this building. The National Guard is not here yet. There's a lawsuit that's going through that Oregon is trying to prevent them from being able to, to be activated. I, I anticipate we'll get the answer for that very soon. And then the anticipation is that that National Guard will be on the ground here by this weekend. That's kind of the sense. I haven't got confirmation of that from anyone. But right now it's Border Patrol. And, you know, sometimes it's hard to tell when they come out. You know, Border Patrol wears tactical uniforms. They work camouflage, as do the SRT guys. The special response Team from ice. So typically what you're seeing now, when you see the arrest being made out here in the streets that we've been covering for you guys, it's typically either SRT or the bortac, the special forces of Border Patrol that are out right now.
David Brody
Let me just follow up on that because. And this has to do with the Posse Comitatus Act. But, you know, what happened in Los Angeles was one of the big beefs in the lawsuits had to do with the fact that, first of all, they didn't think the National Guard should be there in the first place. But if they were going to be there, they had to have an assisting role rather than an actual active role arresting people. So what can you tell us about that? Because that seems to be one of the key legal aspects here.
Ben Berkwam
Well, yeah, it all comes down to basically, the National Guard will only be used on federal properties to secure those federal properties. I'm not an attorney. And so getting into the semantics of whether or not they were assisting or they were actually apprehending. I know in LA they officially didn't make any arrests, but they assisted in making many arrests. I saw, I witnessed it firsthand. And I was, I was thankful for every single one of them. But there is that balance between militarizing our streets and having law enforcement civil servants do that. The big thing that I think most Americans see is, well, we already have militarized streets. It's just traders that are militants that are militarizing our streets. It's antifa. That's militarized our streets. Now we need to get rid of that military. Whether they're a domestic military that's working against us, they're domestic terrorists, or in many cases, they're working with foreign terrorists, they're working with Iran, they're working with the ccp. We need our military to react to a military force and that's what we have on the streets of many cities across America.
Dr. Gina Louden
Well, Ben, as we always say, please be safe. And we know that God's got you, but we want you to be safe. Thank you for joining us today.
Terrence Bates
Thanks, Ben.
Ben Berkwam
My pleasure.
Dr. Gina Louden
Right after the break. See, I did the mom thing again. My kids are always like, mom, why do you mom all that? I don't know. I do it to everyone. I'm so sorry. After the break, professional sports still plagued with Trump derangement syndrome. Now a longtime host for ESPN reveals just how deep it all goes. That is next on American Sunrise. But first, we're back with more American Sun Sunrise right after this. Don't go away. I think that was kind of the same thing, but that's okay.
Terrence Bates
Let's spill some tea.
Emily Finn
Welcome back to American Sunrise. Let's spill some tea. Fueled by Artillery Tea Company, the only America first veteran owned tea brand. And their mission, maximize flavor with whole leaf blends and chemical free tea bags. No junk, just real tea. And here's the tactical each bag brews twice. Just go to artilleryteaco.com and use the code LIBERTY for 20% off your first order. Again, that's artilleryteco.com, premium tea, mission driven and brewed for the brave. It is time to spill some tea and in the cup. Today, ESPN politics and a bombshell from college football's biggest name. Paul Feinbaum, longtime host on ESPN's SEC Network, says the network killed his interview with President Trump back in 2019. It was supposed to happen ahead of the massive LSU Alabama matchup that Trump was attending and Feinbaum wanted to bring the President on for a non political football centered interview. But when he told his bosses, they shut it down. Now, years later, Feinbaum says he's still angry about it and he's even considering a run for U.S. senate. Take a look at this.
David Brody
I was doing get up and first.
Stephen Moore
Take in New York two days a week.
David Brody
I said I'm gonna be in New York on Wednesday. I'd have to come through.
Stephen Moore
He said, I think we could do.
David Brody
It at the White House Thursday morning. Can you get there? I said, yeah, I can get there. I'm in New York, right? He said, let me run it down the flagpole. And he said, he texted me back.
Dr. Gina Louden
Saying it's looking good.
David Brody
I called my boss and they killed it.
Dr. Gina Louden
What's the reaction when you think you're.
David Brody
Going to get to interview the president and they say, nope, not happening.
Stephen Moore
I was devastated.
Emily Finn
And just to be clear here, ESPN had no issue sending reporters to the White House under Obama or letting President Biden on air to talk vaccines and voting laws. For a discussion, let's bring in Dr. Gina Terrence and David here. I think it's interesting, the timing that he finally is coming out with this now that Trump is back in office, now that, you know, things have been really changing in America. I think the timing is interesting there. Gina.
Dr. Gina Louden
Well, I'll tell you, I knew Paul Feinbaum. I started my broadcast career. I say a lot on this show because I'm very proud of Birmingham, Alabama. I loved living there. And I knew the Feinbaums then. His wife was actually my physician, interestingly. And I can tell you this is really interesting to me for a big reason, and that is that in every time I ever met or heard anyone who knew Paul Feinbaum, he was the most nonpartisan guy. No one knew where he came down on politics. His wife was my doctor and became a friend. I didn't know where she stood on politics. They were just very close to the vest on this. So the fact that he not only has come out and said this tells you how far the Democrats have gone in terms of too far of pushing their agenda on people. That the fine bombs of all people lock tight nonpartisans are now basically coming out and saying, hey, this is too much for me. I think it's fascinating and I'm really happy to see it. And it tells you that this is happening in the hearts of a lot of people, don't you think, Terrence?
Terrence Bates
No, absolutely. And David, I'll just add to this, this that it's bad business from espn. The reality is President Trump is a newsmaker, be it from sports perspective. And we all know that he really enjoys sports and is informed about sports. So he could speak to sports, which again, it seems like that was the whole premise of the interview anyway. But secondly, he's the kind of person that's going to get eyeballs in front of the TV screen. People either really like President Trump or they really hate President Trump, I'm sorry to say, but there's typically no gray area. But that's always a good thing because he is a newsmaker and people are going to watch to see what he had to say, whether they like or loathe what he had to say. And so just from a business perspective, I don't get it. It's a dumb move to me. It was a dumb move to me. I just don't get it.
David Brody
Yeah, no, I mean, you're right. As Trump would say, I'd be great for ratings. I'd be so good. And it's true.
Dr. Gina Louden
That's true.
David Brody
It is true. It is true to me. I think what's interesting here is kind of like the overall what lies beneath issue. In other words, we always talk about the overt media bias, but what about the COVID media bias? And this is a good example. You know, so many stories. I guarantee you this ain't the only one we know. This is not the only one of actual guests in this case. President Trump, the big enchilada, if you will, being nixed from espn. But what about conservatives who are not put on panel, you know, and you just go down the Line list. Gina, I know you can speak to this. I mean, but you know that that's really kind of the bigger concern and hopefully things will start to even out a little bit. But I don't know. Not convinced.
Terrence Bates
Hey guys, remind me really quickly. Did and I don't fully remember the context. That's why I'm asking Sage Steele, who was also an ESPN anchor, did she actually interview President Trump or was her interview nixed as well? I can't fully remember. Do you guys remember?
David Brody
I don't know. I don't remember.
Dr. Gina Louden
Yeah, I don't recall either.
Terrence Bates
I'll have to look at But I.
Dr. Gina Louden
Do know that ESPN has a long history, a long sordid history of being extremely biased against conservatives. President Trump isn't the only one by any standard. And I'm sure that Paul Feinbaum saw that as well. And so that's probably part of the reason for his being willing to speak up. But listen, being willing to speak up is such a great start and this will have a domino effect. Mark my words. There are other conservatives who are hidden in the closet at espn. And as many of my friends have said in the past, it's much harder to come out of that closet than any other closet. But they might just be coming, Emily.
Emily Finn
Yes, I think they already have, Gina. All right. Still to come on American Sunrise. She was the ultimate animal whisperer. Jane Goodall left this world yesterday. But the legacy she leaves behind hind between humans and her beloved chimpanzees is one that will not be forgotten. A must see moment with Jane is next. Don't go anywhere. We'll be right back.
Dr. Gina Louden
What was that? Who did that? Was that Colin? Could the audience hear that he was doing a chimpanzee sound? Someone was that wasn't you guys? No. Okay, time for a sunny side up and in the pan today. That was our lead in to a not as happy story. A BITTERSWEET Goodbye. Actually, Dr. Jane Goodall, the renowned British primatologist she's called and conservationist, passed away yesterday of natural causes at the age of of 91. Now, you guys, she's been at this since she was only 26 years old when she began her groundbreaking research in Tanzania's Gombe national park where she discovered that chimpanzees use tools and exhibit complex emotions. This redefined humanity's. I remember being glued to this stuff when I was a little girl.
David Brody
Yep.
Dr. Gina Louden
Of its closest living relatives and we didn't even have the Internet. That's so cool that we were part and parcel to that that they took the cameras there and everything so we could see her work. Her legacy will live through the institute that she founded and the millions she inspired worldwide. Most certainly she was respected, not just by her co workers, but by the chimps she worked so tirelessly to protect. Somehow they seemed to know empathically that she was there for them. Watch this incredible moment and you'll understand. Today is the first time I've met Wooten. I talked to her on the boat, trying to reassure her. She must have wondered what was happening. None of us could predict exactly what she would do once the cage door opened. Oh, my gosh. It was a very, very touching moment. One of the most amazing things that's ever happened to me. The warmth of her embrace is something I shall never forget. For Wounda and all the other chimpanzees we're working to bring here, Chinzoula island will provide a wonderful forest home where they will be cared for and safe. You know, I can't quote it verbatim, but I just a couple days ago, for the first time, read a piece of scripture. When you think you've read everything, sometimes God just speaks. How you treat animals, basically, is what it says is how you will treat humans. Excuse the grammar on that, but it was beautiful. And that is the spirit of Jane Goodall, for sure. Treated the animals with such complete respect. I can't believe that was the first time, David and Terrence, that she ever met that. That animal. And then for it to know her heart and see through her like that.
