Steve Guru
And welcome to America's Voice Live. I'm Steve Guru. It is Wednesday, the 4th of February, year of our Lord 2026. As always, thank you for joining me here. Unreal. America's Voice. Lots to get to today, from Ryan Rouse, life sentence for his attempt to kill President Trump, to a new act that prevents the use of campaign funds by spouses, as well as the end of the four day partial shutdown brought to you by, of course, the Democrats. All of that on the agenda today. So let's jump right in. Earlier today, border czar Tom Homan announced that Trump and his administration will be reducing the number of immigration enforcement officers in Minnesota after state and local officials finally agreed to cooperate by turning over arrested illegals. Take a look at what Tom Holman had to say.
Tom Homan
Given this increase in unprecedented collaboration.
Steve Guru
And.
Tom Homan
As a result of the need for less law enforcement officers to do this work in a safer environment, I have announced, effective immediately, we will draw down 700 people effected today. We will not draw down on personnel providing security for our officers. I will not let our officers be put at risk. So we will not draw down on personnel providing security and responding to hostile incidents.
Mark Werner
All right.
Steve Guru
Joining me to discuss this is Congressman Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin 7. He's also running for governor in the great state of Wisconsin and has an endorsement from President Trump in his pocket as well. Tom, thank you for being here. Nice seeing you again.
Congressman Tom Tiffany
See you, Steve.
Steve Guru
Let's talk about the chaos in your neighboring state of Minnesota. Seems that they've come to an accommodation, I suppose that they're going to actually cooperate with federal law enforcement, take this chaos out of the streets. As Tom Holman pointed out also in that conversation, if they go to pick up somebody from a local jail, it takes a couple of officers instead of 10 or 12 out on the streets with all the protesters and all the chaos and all the violence. It's an important step forward, isn't it?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Yeah. Hopefully we're seeing some signs of sanity over in Minneapolis being able to remove people who have are violent offenders. I can just tell you this, if I'm elected as governor, I'm going to make sure that local, county, state law enforcement coordinate with federal law enforcement so you have a seamless process to be able to move the bad guys, remove the bad guys from the streets. For the life of me, I don't understand why Minnesota has done what they've done over the last month.
Steve Guru
Yeah, I don't either. Neither do a lot of Americans when it comes to cracking down on fraud. We're seeing it across the country. Minneapolis tore the curtain back. All of a sudden everybody's looking around going, how much money was stolen? I'm sure it's not unique to Minnesota. I'm sure it's happening in other states, including Wisconsin, my own state. California for sure. How important is it for Americans to have faith in the system again? How important is it to reel in this fraud from so many different people?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Well, and you really segue into the issue that is at the crux of what happened in Minnesota. What Precipitated all this? Two things, right? 10 million people that came in illegally over the previous four years. And as the U.S. attorney described it in Minneapolis, industrial scale fraud. As much as perhaps $10 billion being stolen from the taxpayers going overseas to places like Somal of funding organizations like Al Shabaab, the terrorist group in the Middle East. I mean, that's what we've seen this money used for. And Tim Walls tossed out a little truth last week in regards to this. In an interview he said that every this happens in every state. And he's correct. And that's why I sent a letter to our governor in Wisconsin saying, will you have an audit done of food stamps, Medicaid and these other programs? And he's refusing to do it. Every state should be audited at this point. I don't care how red you are, honest you think you are, every state should be audited at this point. I'll do it as the next governor in Wisconsin.
Steve Guru
As well you should, staying in Minnesota. Now, I understand that you also recently introduced the Omar Act. Tell us what the Omar act and why it's important to you.
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Oversight of members and relatives. Omar. And so what we're seeing is people are enriching themselves here in Congress by bringing their relatives into it. And this is named after Ilan Omar, who married a guy and Then he became her campaign manager and she paid him, what, two or three million dollars, something like that, for a campaign a couple of years ago as a consultant. And people should not be members of Congress should not be enriching their families by doing an end run and funding their spouses, as Omar has done. And this has been around for a while. You may be surprised that Adam Schiff was one of the original authors of this, like 15 years ago. And so it's had bipartisan support in the past. I sure hope he gets bipartisan support now.
Steve Guru
I hope it does as well. The kind of trading the people enriching themselves while they're not serving their constituents is rampant in Washington. It's a point of contention for money. Now, I want to discuss the VAULT act before I get to that, by the way, Steve Ryan.
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Go ahead, Steve. I really. I'm sorry to interrupt, but I want to add one more. There's just a story breaking in the last 24 hours in regards to Eric Swalwell, the governor candidate out in California where he's paying his wife for babysitting.
Steve Guru
Well, yeah. What does that job pay? Yeah. What does that job pay?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Quite well.
Steve Guru
Yeah. You know, and again, that's the kind. Look, that's corruption, that's fraud. You know, nobody can afford daycare, but Eric Swalwell can afford to pay his wife and keep all the money at home, apparently out of his campaign fund. We'll keep an eye on that as well. As I started saying, I want to get your reaction to Ryan Routh being sentenced to life in prison for his attempt to take President Trump's life in 2024.
Congressman Tom Tiffany
As. As he should. I don't know. I don't know. Steve, do you know, was the death penalty available? I don't know if it was in this case. But at a minimum, he should serve the rest of his life in. And I mean, people forget about how the president's life was threatened throughout 2024. And we're fortunate that he is still here on this earth after, you know, the getting shot, but then also being tracked on his golf course down in Florida, which could have ended very badly also. So justice is prevailing here.
Steve Guru
Yeah. Just a litany of things to discuss with you today. Gold and silver rocketed up and then had their worst Friday in years. The worst performance by gold, it dropped between 30 and 37% on Friday. And on Monday of this week, the Trump administration announced plans to stockpile critical minerals, including silver, for example, essential to U.S. manufacturing and national defense, called Project Vault. What are your Thoughts on this?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Yeah, you know, very similar to the strategic oil reserves that we have, which, by the way, Joe Biden emptied in the run up to the 2022 election to keep oil prices down. But this may be a good call on the part of the President because China has a lock on metals and how they get distributed around the world, and they are continuing to try to do that. These are really important for a variety of reason, but no greater than national security and making sure that we can produce the weapons that are necessary to keep our country the strongest on earth. And so this may be an important play by the President to make sure that we have those strategic minerals that are called strategic for a reason.
Steve Guru
Right now, when you come to Fed policy and so forth, there's going to be a new man in charge here shortly. And in the Oval Office this week, President Trump referred to it as a new deal, a Republican new deal. Some are speculating that the President's gonna change the way we have our relationship with the central bank. There's even comments that he might move to a point where we can back our currency again with gold or silver. What do you see coming? Because it's a total departure from where we've been with fiat currency and a Fed that is obsessed with things that have not treated us particularly well. Your thoughts?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Yeah. You know, the Fed has been reactive for a long time, if not forever. I mean, I just think back to 10 years ago, Steve, when they kept interest rates so artificially low that ultimately led to the inflation that kicked in in 2021, 2022, especially with the massive spending that was going on in particular with the Biden administration. And they were too slow to raise interest. Now they're too slow in bringing them back down. So I think we should see some interest rate reductions, which is probably the best news for the American people on that housing affordability front.
Steve Guru
Yeah. Another major story that I want to ask you about getting a lot of attention. Apparently, according to some Democrats in Congress, not according to the American people, but according to some Democrats in Congress, most of them, having a driver's license is apparently racist. In certain communities, having a driver's license makes it harder to vote. Apparently having a driver's license makes it harder to drive in this country. That's how absurd this really is. Let's talk about the SAVE Act. How critical is the SAVE act when it comes to protecting our elections and making sure they're run right?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Now, we've seen proof where there's been thousands of people in some states, Virginia, Texas, and Others where people, non citizens are eligible to vote. We have to make sure that it is only citizens that are eligible to vote. And that's what the SAVE act does. If you're going to register to vote, you got to prove that you're a citizen of the United States. That really seems to be common sense and just the minimum entry point to be able to vote in this great country.
Steve Guru
Do you know any adult, any adult, black, white, Hispanic, any adult in this country that doesn't have photo id?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
I, I don't, I don't. It's almost impossible to live in society, isn't it Steve? Currently without having a photo id. And I actually think their statement that this is racist to do it is racist on their part. They're basically saying that minorities do not have the ability to be able to get a photo ID and be able to use it. I mean that's just really condescending.
Steve Guru
Over on CNN they ran the numbers. 83% of Americans, including 71% of Democrats support voter ID for elections just like every other civilized nation on the planet. This is more than an 8020 issue. I think it's a good issue for the Republicans if they're opposing voter id. I can only imagine there's one reason they'd like to keep people from having to admit who they are when they cast a ballot. One last question before I go. Because it's a big race. The governor's race in Wisconsin. You have the President's endorsement. Where are we today?
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Yeah, the President endorsed last week and I appreciate so greatly that he would show confidence in me to be the next governor of the state of Wisconsin. And we got some serious issues in Wisconsin. Our educational system has fallen behind. Mississippi, you heard that right. And we have among the highest costs for energy now in the Midwest. Twenty years ago we didn't, we were among the lowest. The governor here has a 400 year property tax increase that he put in place. 400 years, far longer than our country's been around. And so we've got a whole lot of things that we need to reverse if we're going to make Wisconsin one of the great states here in America. And I have a full agenda that I'm laying out for the people of the state of Wisconsin that we're going to make Wisconsin one of the great states here in the United States.
Steve Guru
It's remarkable. There are a number of states right now, Florida, North Dakota, Georgia, to name a few, all working to get rid of property tax altogether. And you're going to jack it up on the Folks of Wisconsin, that doesn't seem like a very prudent move. Tom Tiffany, always good talking to you, sir. Thank you. We wish you well in your run for governor.
Congressman Tom Tiffany
Thank you so much, Steve. Always good to join you.
Steve Guru
Thank you so much. There you have it. Tom Tiffany, Wisconsin 7 and maybe Governor of the state of Wisconsin in the near future. Now coming up after the break, I'll bring on Senator Ron Johnson, also of Wisconsin to discuss the end of the four day partial government shutdown and what exactly came out of it. Stay tuned. We'll find out here on america's Voice live. Well, as you know by now, the House has passed a government funding bill that ends the four day long partial shutdown. Join me to discuss this and so much more is US Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin. Senator, nice to have you here. Four days, a lot better than 43 days. But it was just another distraction taking away from the business of what needs to be done in Washington to make this country better again. What are your thoughts? Four days of I don't know. What did we accomplish? Anything?
Senator Ron Johnson
Well, I have mixed feelings. I voted against it in the Senate. I knew it had enough votes to pass partly because we had $14.3 billion worth of earmarks. Grotesque amount. We did not include the Shutdown Fairness act to protect federal workers in the event of a future shutdown, which let's face it, probably likely come October 1st of this year. We're finally funding government four months into the fiscal year. I've been here 15 years. During that time period, we should have passed 180 appropriation bills prior to the start of the fiscal year in which they are funding. We've passed 6. So it's a 96.7% failure rate. And yet the unit party just refused to support the Elimination Shutdown act which would do away shutdowns forever or even the Shutdown Fairness act that we should have attached to every House appropriation bill that came over the Senate and that could be already law at this point as well.
Steve Guru
Yeah. Well, it's behind us now so we can move on to other business. At least I hope so. A lot of distractions out there. It seems that Democrats don't just want to go after ice. They want to defund the Department of Homeland Security. It seems that this war on police, the defund police movement that started really in 2015, 2016, maybe a bit earlier, but it's gone. It's gone completely off the rails. Do they want no enforcement of illegal aliens that are living in this country, some of them criminals I mean, what are they thinking? That's just as blunt as I can be about it.
Senator Ron Johnson
Well, I can't get inside the head of a Democrat. But let's face it, they wanted open borders. Their proposal to require judicial warrants is completely unreasonable. We've always enforced our immigration laws through administrative judges, really run by the executive. It's the only way to do it. You know, in judicial cases, you've got backlogs, probably in the hundreds or thousands on a court docket. Right. We have millions of cases pending in immigration courts because, again, Biden opened up the floodgates. A lot of millions of people, including those millions, are criminals, members of transnational criminal organizations, violent gangs, drug, sex, and human traffickers. I mean, these are the people the administration, by and large is targeting for enforcement action. But let's face it, you've got the radical left training activists, encouraging them to put themselves into harm's way, knowing full well that they're putting them in harm's way. They got two martyrs, you know, two tragic deaths never should have happened. But that's really on the backs of these leftist organizers that are encouraging people to, again, obstruct ice, to harass ice. It's really sick what the left is doing.
Steve Guru
Yeah, some elected officials have gone farther, much farther. Larry Krasner, he is the DA in Philadelphia. He's basically saying they'll hunt down ICE agents and arrest them and prosecute them. Something fairly similar being said in the city of Chicago. How do we tolerate that? When you have elected officials, the district attorneys, threatening to hunt down federal agents.
Senator Ron Johnson
By the way, those are the words of an insurgent. Those are the actions of insurrectionists against the federal government. Again, understand what the left is trying to do here. They are trying to create chaos. Where you have local and state officials cooperating with ice, you don't have problems. You're able to pick up some of these people that have deportation orders in the jail in which they're sitting, having been arrested for committing other crimes. That's the safest thing for ICE officials, for the general public, for those deportees, quite honestly. So that's the safe way of handling that. That's the way it's handled throughout most of America. But where we have sanctuary cities, we have sanctuary states. You have insurrectionists, insurgents, like the DA in Philadelphia. That's where having problems. And of course, the legacy media will just focus on that. There's no sympathy shown toward the Lake and Rileys, the Rachel Morins, the many, many, many, many other victims of crimes committed by illegal Immigrants, there's no sympathy for that. It's all trying to create the martyrs which they got and then highlighting those individuals and trying to defund ICE just like they try to defund the police.
Steve Guru
Well, Senator, it seems from where I'm sitting that the point of all of this is to have as many illegals in the country as possible, get amnesty to as many as possible and create new voters. 85% of new American citizens, the ones that come here legally tend to vote for Democrats for the first 10 years. Then they wise up, apparently. But the point is voting power. Which brings me to the SAVE Act. Can we get the SAVE act through? Can you go back to the old fashioned filibuster? I don't know. That's not the right term exactly, but you know, the filibuster because you have the votes if you don't have to reach the threshold of 60. Can this be done? Can American elections require citizenship, require photo id, which every country in the world just about has except ours? How do we get this done?
Senator Ron Johnson
Well, understand Democrats won't vote for this. Democrats want to make it easy to cheat. That should speak volumes. So the only way this is going to happen is if we do either end the filibuster and let's face it, Democrats will do it as soon as they have the opportunity. They'll do it to gain and maintain power, but we're going to do it to try and secure and save America. But you know, short of ending the filibuster, which right now we probably don't have enough Republican senators, I'm for it. I'm basing, you know, I'm facing reality. We're going to be like schmucks if we don't do it. And Democrats do it as soon as they get power. But short of that, there is the concept of a talking filibuster. It sounds easy, it may not be, but the first thing we have to do is we have to craft and draft the piece of legislation we would use the talking filibuster or by ending the filibuster to pass. I mean, let's not put the cart before the horse. So I'm working on something with, with the White House, with some other members of House Freedom Caucus. I'm calling it the Securing America Act. You know, have legislation to secure our elections, to secure our border, to secure taxpayer funds. I mean that'd be all the anti fraud provisions. You know what we can do to try and prevent as much fraud as possible. We might even have a provision there saving America's health. Again, we need it relatively simple, probably skinny down from that list. But things that the public would support in overwhelming numbers. Craft that legislation, get the president on board, and then get the president to try and twist the few arms of Republicans that might be reluctant to, for example, pass the SAVE Act. We've got senators that don't want to do that because they think that's federalizing elections. I don't think it is. I think you can definitely set some standards at the federal level for federal elections without taking over state elections. I don't want to do that. But I think basic standards like, you know, proof of citizenship, voter id, you know, some standards in terms of early voting, how we handle absentee voting, you know, no automatic registration. There's all kinds of things that we need to do that. Quite honestly, the Baker Carter Commission, they pointed out that absentee ballots is probably the greatest area of potential fraud in our elections. And yet that's what the push. We doubled the number of absentee ballots in 2020 and it's continued to increase since that point in time. So we gotta dial that back in. We have secure elections or we just lose this nation.
Steve Guru
Yeah. 83% of the people asked by CNN, 83% this week support voter ID. This is not a close call from the American people on either side of the aisle. Senator, thank you for being here today. I greatly appreciate it.
Senator Ron Johnson
Have a great day.
Steve Guru
Thank you. All right, don't go anywhere. America's Voice Live will continue in a moment. Brand new numbers from the Census Bureau tell a very clear picture. Americans are voting with their feet and they're heading to red states. No surprise prize. State population estimates through July 2025 show people fleeing high tax blue states for lower taxes, better jobs and more affordable living in Republican led states. It's a clear fact. In fact, eight of the ten fastest growing states were carried by President Trump in 2024. From New York to California, families are leaving for good. And it's already reshaping the political map ahead of the midterms. We discuss this further, the senior director of Government affairs at the National Taxpayers Union, Tommy Ilo. Tommy, thank you for being here. I will give you one bit of news here out of the Supreme Court, though. They approved California's redistricting. That'll mean five more Democrat seats coming from California, leaving Republicans with just four seats in that state. Pretty remarkable. What do you make of everything that's happening? First of all, let's talk about people are fleeing California and yet they're gonna pack the House, aren't they?
Tommy Aiello
Yeah, I mean, they're doing what they can, but I mean the news is people are leaving California by the droves. People can't get out of fast enough. And in fact, my organization, we crunched the numbers with IRS data. There is a taxpayer leaving California. Every 60 seconds, every minute of every day of every month of every year, a taxpayer is leaving California. That's just mind boggling info. And when you think about it, they're not going to other blue states. They're leaving for Republican states. They're leaving for Republican states because they're better managed, they have lower taxes and they're more welcoming to business investment. And I think it's going to. It's a trend that's going to continue.
Steve Guru
Well, it is a trend that's continuing. I should have opened a U haul business in California and I've done well, it seems. Although I'd be short on trailers and trucks by now. By 2030, I was looking at the maps. This means a swing of 15 seats to the Republicans. Fifteen roughly minus seven or eight on the Democrat side, plus seven or eight on the Republican side. We'll just call it the average of 15. If you pair that with what's likely going to come out of this Supreme Court in June where they say you can't gerrymander districts based on race in Alabama, Louisiana and elsewhere, that's 12 more seats. I mean, we're talking about a massive shift in power. And 15 years down the line, not even including the Supreme Court decision on the gerrymandering case, it could be plus 40 for the Republicans. The question, Tommy, is can we wait that long?
Tommy Aiello
I mean, it's a monumental shift. And I think the biggest billboard that Republicans can run is the fact that these Democratic states are losing all these people. And they're not.
Senator Ron Johnson
They're not.
Tommy Aiello
They're leaving a little bit for the warmer weather, but when it comes down to it, they're leaving because of these high taxes. I'm from New York. They lose a taxpayer every 2 minutes and 30 seconds. That's not sustainable. So when we look at these population trends. Right. You hit it right on the head. What does it mean? It means Republican states are overwhelmingly benefiting from this change. So when we look at the map about what this could mean in the next Congress or two Congresses from now, it means more Republicans will probably be elected than Democrats. Hopefully that'll mean continued lower taxes at the federal level, more reined in spending, and of course, unleashing American energy dominance. That's at the top of the president's agenda. So it's really good news, but we need to make sure that this trend continues because it really will be a monumental shift.
Steve Guru
So the question then becomes, the question then becomes, and when I say, can we make it, yeah, there's this big shift happening. But in the short term, the Democrats are gaming everything they possibly can, calling voter ID racist, saying that they can redistrict in places like they're doing there. The other poster child, by the way, now that I think about it, should be Virginia. They ran on affordability, did Spanberger and company there in Virginia. They have proposed 50 new taxes. A tax on walking your dog, on grooming your dog, on fixing your car, on fixing your house. I mean, the only tax I haven't thought of yet is a tax on every breath you take. Tommy, I'll give you the last word. But if affordability looks like that to Democrats, you bring that to the federal government, this whole country is in real trouble, more trouble than it already is. Last word to you.
Tommy Aiello
I'll do you one better. I am a DC Taxpayer and right now the city doesn't want to conform to the new tax code that President Trump signed into law. So because of that, I'm not going to be getting the benefits of the higher standard deduction. And the other people here on no tax on tips, no tax on Social Security, they won't be getting that either. So again, they're trying to spite President Trump and it's US Taxpayers that are going to be footing the bill. That's not a recipe for attracting new taxpayers to the city.
Steve Guru
Not sure how that's legal, but we'll sort that out next time. Tommy Aiello from the National Taxpayers Union, thank you as always. Thank you right after the break. Tougaloo College recently invited longtime Marxist activist and former Communist Party USA member Angela Davis to headline a university backed event called Voices for Just World. Details coming up. All right. Well, it seems Tougaloo College is giving institutional legitimacy to radical ideology. Not surprised, really. The school has invited longtime Marxist activists and former Communist Party USA member Angela Davis to headline a university backed event called Voices for a Just World. I wonder if she's ever visited Venezuela. Davis isn't a neutral academic voice. She's a former Communist Party nominee, a one time Black Panther and a figure once placed on the FBI's 10 most wanted lists during a violent radical era. This isn't about free speech, of course. This isn't about it at all. It's about universities repeatedly platforming far left activists without balance Shaping campuses into ideological echo chambers and calling it justice. Join me to discuss this as Campus Reform correspondent Jessica Ogren. Jessica, thank you for being here. This is just another far left. I mean, this is somebody who they wrote the Communist Manifesto for, it seems, and they put these people on campus. But if a conservative comes to one of these colleges, they block them from the opportunity. I believe in free speech, but I also believe in free access. Your thoughts?
Jessica Ogren
I think you said it completely right. I mean, it's been a repeated pattern that Campus Reform has been reporting on and will continue to report on that conservative speakers have a difficult time either getting on campus or when they do, they just get backlash. And yet I feel like these events can happen repeatedly and no one really says anything about it. If anything, these universities are praised and called brave for bringing on these sorts of speakers.
Steve Guru
I was surprised recently talking to a young man in high school who said the majority of his class is conservative. I was shocked to hear that he said, yeah, about three to one. And I've seen that in young people as well. Now, where do you go to college?
Jessica Ogren
I go to smu.
Steve Guru
All right, so what's the atmosphere like on that campus? I'm sure you've got your left of center professors and so forth. Is there any balance there where you attend college?
Jessica Ogren
Yeah, I would say that our conservative or our student body tends to be relatively conservative since we're in Texas and since even though a lot of our students are out of state, you're choosing to be in the Dallas environment, if that makes sense. And I mean, every college that you go to at this point has its fair share of, you know, Marxist left professors, students, TAs. Personally, I've noticed that these groups like the leftist groups, Marxist groups on campus and professors have an easier time spreading their message than conservative groups like Turning Point. And everyone's had their fair share of professors. Even if the majority of my student body is conservative, it doesn't always feel that way.
Steve Guru
Yeah, it doesn't always feel that way. Do you think that your generation you mentioned leans conservative there? And I'm getting that from other kids on other college campuses. There's basically been this breaking point, I think, where people of your age are like, stop feeding me the nonsense because you're smart enough to figure it out. When you look around and say, wait a second, we're getting fed this ideology, this propaganda, really, is there a switch coming, a pushback, a. A return to more conservative mindsets among young people?
Jessica Ogren
I like to think so. And I think the last election reflected that. With how President Trump pulled a majority of his votes from my generation, I really genuinely like to believe that despite all this craziness happening and the repeated trend of these Marxist and liberal ideologies being pushed on campus, that my generation is finally pushing back on it and trying to break away from it. I've seen trends, campus reforms, reported on trends of conservative students not sitting in silence anymore and genuinely looking and seeking change.
Steve Guru
Yeah. What do you think is going to happen in the midterms? The college kids vote in the midterms. Are they going to turn out? Are the conservative classmates of yours going to show up at the polls here come November?
Jessica Ogren
I would have to say most likely not. In all honesty, just because it's. I feel like people are discouraged when it's in their eyes. It's like, oh, it's an election that doesn't really matter. Even though it does. I think that the midterm numbers will reflect that. There'll be less in, like, Trump's numbers will be less in our camp, even though I don't think that that's the case or the mentality at all. Yeah.
Steve Guru
I really appreciate you being here, Jessica. We'll keep an eye on this, but this double standard about who's allowed to speak on what campus is inexcusable to me. This country was built on free speech. You don't have to like what I have to say, but you can't silence and cancel me either. That's the point of the country, in large part. Jessica, thank you for being here.
Jessica Ogren
Thank you.
Steve Guru
All right, it's just about time for a commercial break. Before that, I want to inform you that Real America's music has a new release out, a comedy song, the Somali Waltz, sung by Natasha Owens. Here's a preview. As we go into break.

Hear you new name. Same to the Somali Wal. Well, a number of years ago, a friend of mine was out buying a bed, spending an outrageous amount of money. I thought I said, what are you doing? They said, look, you spend a third of your life on it makes it the most important piece of furniture, health equipment, potentially, that you own. Most people don't think about their mattresses until pain forces them to. Today, I want to talk about why. Just. Okay. Sleep may actually be driving your frequent chiropractor visits or taking Tylenol or ibuprofen before bed, hoping to sleep better or wake up with less pain and stiffness. Join me to discuss CEO and founder of Ghostbed, Mark Werner. Mark, nice to have you here. Yeah, years ago, I had somebody, I said, why would you spend all that money? And they said, look, what's more important than your bed? And it's something that always resonated with me. Apparently it resonates with you too. Tell us about Ghostbed.
Mark Werner
Well, Ghostbed started about 25 years ago with my wife and myself. And we started from my problem of having three neck surgeries. And I couldn't find a mattress or a pillow that would work for my condition. So I invented my own. And I come from the Werner ladder family, where my grandfather started that 100 plus years ago after he finished service in World War I. And then my dad invented the aluminum ladder and the fiberglass ladder. So I worked with him as a little kid onward in fiberglass. And a fiberglass ladder is very similar to a memory foam mattress, just a different polymer construction. So I talked my wife into it. We love family business. We love Made in USA products. So we started Ghostbed, and that's how we kind of launched all about high quality and value, you know, so it's like the Tempur Pedic you were talking about, just at a third of the cost. So we want to make it very affordable for everybody.
Steve Guru
All right, so most people think a bad mattress just means a tough night, but it's really a lot harder on your body. And look, if your body doesn't have a chance to rejuvenate, to regenerate, bad sleep leads to a poor life quality. That's a fact, isn't it?
Mark Werner
That's a total fact. Sleep time is recharging time. And everybody needs quality sleep. And if you have a bad mattress and you're not getting proper sleep, it's like not eating right, not working out, all the things you need to be a healthy person. Lack of sleep, you're angrier, you're not a happy camper, more hassles on the road with your co workers, your friends, etc. So sleep is very, very important. And quality sleep is important. So you need a good mattress. And if you're waking up in pain and Having these kinds of issues. It's kind of a health report card saying you need a new mattress and you need to go, yeah.
Steve Guru
So, all right, so look, people make a switch. They say, all right, I'm listening to Mark. I like what he's saying. I appreciate the fact that they're priced better than what I find at the store. But what's the first real change people notice when they switch to a ghost bed?
Mark Werner
Well, based upon the 100,000 plus reviews that we've gotten from not only our platform, but from our partners like Costco and Sam's Club and Amazon, so very independent references, the reaction is amazing. Let's look at kind of. Our return rate is very, very low. Our customers are extremely happy. The reviews that I've read just keep talking about how much better they feel, how their pain went away, how they're sleeping better, they're happier, and where has this been my whole life? So it's an immediate reaction with the new mattress.
Steve Guru
Yeah. So here's the problem, Mark. A lot of folks sleep differently. I sleep in the fetal position, usually because I'm frightened of the world. I'm kidding about that. No, I sleep in the fetal position. That's the way I've always slept. I'm a side sleeper. Other people sleep on their back, other people sleep on their stomach. People sleep differently. They need different firmnesses. Married couples have challenges. You and your wife probably don't sleep the same. How do you deal with that?
Mark Werner
Well, we. It's a great question. We pioneered the split king adjustable. So what that is is adjustable bases, two twin XLs, which makes a king, or you can have a queen adjustable, and you can raise the head, raise the foot. You've got massage, you've got lights, you've got outlets for USBs, for your phone, your iPad, et cetera. And then you can pick out your own mattress. So it's two twin XL mattresses. And by doing that, you can have like one of our coolest beds in the world because we have technology for cooling technology and make a very cool bed for the person that sleeps very hot. You might be, like you said, a side sleeper. So you might need a different type of composition in the mattress, maybe a hybrid mattress of high quality foams along with pocketed coil springs. So you take that, you put those two twin XL mattresses together on these adjustable bases, and you just have this great lifestyle experience. And both sleepers are very happy and you're still together. It's a great experience. We've really led that charge and we've done it across the country. We also sell to Canada and the uk and the more people see it, the more they all say, I didn't know about this. I love this thing. Where's it been my whole life? So that's really the winning solution. And it's very affordable. It's very affordable for what you're getting.
Steve Guru
Besides that, though, people are going to say, you know what, when I buy a mattress, I want to lay out and I want to test it. How do you get people to say, look, relax, how do you buy without trying?
Mark Werner
It's an expensive, bigger ticket item. So what we have is 101 night sleep trial. So you take the marks quiz on our site and you've kind of figured out what's the best mattress for my sleeping conditions, my preferences. And then you've got 101 nights over three months to have that mattress in your bedroom, in your environment, with your pets and friends and partner and all the normal things that you encounter. And in that time frame, if you don't like it, if it's not working for you, you can return it for full credit and we'll pick it up and we'll try to help you maybe get to a mattress that's a little different. Again, our return rate is very low. So we know we have a very high success rate. Aligning, picking the right mattress for the right sleeper type. And that's just a winning combination to kind of get you past that fear of buying something expensive online.
Steve Guru
Well, Mark, nice to meet you here today. So here's what I'll say, folks. Don't accept I slept okay from something you use eight hours a night. Go to ghostbed.com rav use the promo code rav for 10% off. Again, that's ghostbed. That promo code is rev. Mark, thank you so much.
Mark Werner
Thank you, Steve, for having me.
Steve Guru
Greatly appreciate. We'll talk soon. All right. After the break, we'll have a story that reminds us just how wonderful America is. Plus your answers to our America's Voice question of the day. What are your thoughts on Tom Holman's announcement to draw down federal agents in Minnesota? Your answers when we come back. What makes America wonderful? We do it every day to put a smile on your face before you go on with the rest of your day. Today's story comes to us from Fort Worth, Texas, where a convenience store owner saved a woman from the frigid temperatures. Atta boy. Besides the freezing temperatures, a normal work day was in store for Faris Hussein, manager of Evans Food Martin until another customer rushed into the store with alarming news. The customer informed him that a woman known as Bobby was lying outside, frozen without a second thought, Ferris sprang into action. And when he reached her, he realized how serious the situation was as the woman was frozen solid. And Ferris recounts as much since he described her entire body as being stiff as a rock. Thankfully, Ferris was able to lift Bobby up, bring her inside to warm up, and soon afterwards, paramedics and police were on the scene to transport the woman to the local hospital, where it was revealed that Bobby had been trying to get to a shelter. She had fallen on hard times, but when the shelter turned out to be closed, she braved it outside the gas station as sleet and rain began to fall, helping those in need without a second thought. It's the moral of today's story, Ferris Hussein's selfless action to bring Bobby inside. The story reminds us what makes America wonderful. Do the right thing today. Open a door, say thank you to somebody. Tell them they're doing a good job. We don't do that enough, my friends. Hey, you're doing a good job. I really appreciate it. Here's your question of the day. What are your thoughts on Tom Homan's announcement to draw down federal agents in Minnesota? Greg hassler, Bird tantrums work now. See, Greg, I have a different take on this. They got an accommodation here. The local jails are now being opened up so federal agents can go in and arrest these folks without all the chaos in the streets. I think that they've made progress. Deborah Fowles says, I wonder what the next chess move will be. Roger D. Pierce, 700 is an extreme considering amount sent suppose local enforcement assistance. Well, we'll see how it plays out. But I believe, like I said, that they're going to have cooperation from Minnesota now. You can't continue down this road. I think that this is a win for the Trump administration. John Russell trusting his judgment. Better days ahead for America. Terry Larson has this cut the government funding to all their fraud. Let them handle their illegals on their own dime. Then we'll see how the state handles their problems. Minnesota US Citizens need to speak up again. I think you take the win and I do believe it's a win to allow these federal agents inside the local jails, which had been blocked before. We'll see what happens. THERESA lynn, Southern Take away all federal money. They do not want federal law in their states, so be on your own. But they are still going to be arrested and subpoenaed for NGO fraud. Yeah, the fraud arrests are coming. Craig Caseta has this. We got sold out for magic beans, as per usual. The intestinal fortitude of the GOP was sold for cheap donor labor. I don't think that's true, actually. Like I said, I think it's a win. We'll take it. And Jim Charles, Minneapolis is a disaster. Well, I'm going to put my faith in Tom Holman. He's on the scene, he's calm, he's on point. He's doing the job. We'll leave it there for today. Minneapolis is a disaster right now, but I don't think it stays that way. I think we're on a corrective course now. We'll see. I could be wrong, but let's see how it plays out now that the federal agents are going to get cooperation in Minnesota. Truly appreciate it.
