Steve Gruber
Welcome to America's Voice Live. I'm Steve gruber. It is January 26th in the year of our Lord 2026. As always, we appreciate you spending time with us here. Let's get right to the day's top stories. President Trump gave a stark warning to Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney relating to his recent electric vehicle negotiations with China in the form of leveraging a 100% tariff if Canada were to continue and move on such a deal. More on that coming up. Also, National School Choice Week has officially kicked off. This event is meant to empower parents as it relates to finding the most suitable school environment. An important choice for sure, especially since this event covers the formative years of kindergarten through 12th grade. And finally, we'll discuss Greenland and President Trump's assertions about a deal framework being in the works, along with Russia's surprising indifference to this development. All that coming your way. But first, we start here today in Minneapolis. More chaos as another anti ICE agitator is shot and killed by a Border Patrol officer trying to conduct a targeted enforcement effort to arrest a dangerous illegal alien who escaped. By the way, let me tell you clearly and concisely today, one person will not be shot by a border patrol officer, ever. Me, because like the vast majority of Americans, I understand the rules. But for anyone who still doesn't get it, let's go over them again slowly. For those in the back, first and foremost, treat law enforcement officers or agents with respect. Whether it's local, state or federal, treat them with respect. If they're working, actively working to arrest someone, do not interfere. Do not bum rush them, push them, spit on them, throw things at them. If you want to protest, do that. Bring your signs, your bullhorns, your whistles. Fine, scream and holler all you want, but do not engage directly with law enforcement efforts. And if you are given direct, lawful orders, just follow them. 37 year old Alex Preddy, a VA nurse, didn't follow these rules or listen to his parents who say they told him weeks ago, do not engage with police. If you'd listen to his mom and dad, he'd be alive today. Instead, he was shot and killed during a scuffle with police over the weekend. And the lines are clear. Law enforcement on one side, agitators and anarchists on the other. I told you before, those antagonizing the agents want a Kent State moment. They're willing to get people killed if they think it will advance their agenda. Pretty selfish. Joining me to discuss is former Navy seal, FBI and Secret Service agent Jonathan Gilliam, as well as Conservative Caucus President Jim Pfaff. Jonathan, let me start with you. Tough situation. A lot of noise, a lot of chaos. By design, these people are agitating, whistling, pulling cars in front of agents and then grabbing agents and getting into a wrestling match in the street. And sadly, again, somebody gets killed. This needs to be brought under control. We need to have cooperation between the state of Minnesota, the Minneapolis Police Department, the State Patrol there, and the federal agents. This isn't happening anywhere else but Minneapolis. And there's a reason for that, isn't it?
Jonathan Gilliam
Yeah, there absolutely is. Let me just say one thing. I was never a Secret Service agent. Great job. Wish I could have been. But I was in the FBI and a Navy seal. And so. But with that I understand the attacker defender mindset. And you said two things in your opening there, Steve, that are really important for people to realize. One, this individual's parents told him weeks ago not to get involved. Okay, why did the parents feel the need to tell him that? Because probably most likely this guy has a history of getting involved with these leftist groups or he was just a part of it and they knew it. That's a very important thing to, to take in mind because also these groups are organized. These groups are funded, they're trained. And that was the other thing you were talking about. These groups are not just out there because they're Minnesotans and they, they don't like what's occurring there. There are some of those people. But as this signal controversy is happening with this signal group, it shows you how organized these people are. We've seen it before, same organizers. And that was the last thing that you point out, I think is very important part of this is that they want a Ken State moment. And the people that are organizing these things are far above the people on the street. And I have no doubt that this guy, the woman who was shot in her car, they are not the planners. They are the useful idiots that are, are brainwashed. And I think probably on some kind of narcotic where they're going out there and they're doing these crazy things for people who have motivated them to do them. And those people who are doing the motivating and the planning and the funding, they don't care about these people's lives. They want chaos and anarchy because as a good Marxist always says, by any means possible, they will get what they want, which is some kind of control or overall power has really little to do with some kind of synthesis, which Marks talked about, where there's a non government utopia. They want chaos because they want power. And people like this on the street are breaking the law. They're not protesting, they're rioting. You could even call it soft rioting where they're not necessarily like this individual, this guy, he was out there controlling the streets, controlling the traffic, telling people where to go, filming it so that he could instigate this while they obstructed justice. And so I think when you look at the totality of all the things you talked about, the reality is that the President needs to be sending DOJ and FBI out there to get to the bottom of who these people are, not just go after ICE and try to change tactics.
Steve Gruber
Well, Jim, I think Jonathan made a good point that this is not activism. This is a pseudo military operation. They've got signal accounts. They are well funded. They've got warming tents and gear, tents and food being delivered. This is not about signs and bullhorns. This is much more organized and very well funded, as Jonathan said. Jim, what say?
Jim Pfaff
You know, I absolutely agree. I think we have to be treating this as a criminal conspiracy. I think the Trump administration needs to be very serious about taking that on, because, listen, there's money behind this. There's plenty of documentation of the people who are funding these organizations to help them coordinate these efforts. They are highly coordinated. They are well funded. They are, as Jonathan rightly said, using. Utilizing useful idiots who are willing to believe this false idea that somehow you've got Gestapo troops going around doing whatever. That's not the case at all. This is very clear federal law being, you know, being undertaken, being adjudicated by the Trump administration. And in fact, if Donald Trump were not doing with ICE what he's doing right now, he would be abrogating his responsibility as President of the United States, as his predecessor did for four years. So, listen, when you have these sorts of situations and when you look at the way that this is organized, the closest construct that we can come to in recent history is that this is very much like an insurgency effort, like we saw in Iraq and Afghanistan, taking on American troops. And even though I, you know, hadn't. I opposed both of those wars, the reality is those guys were on the streets doing what they needed to do and what they were asked and tasked to do by their military leaders. And you have these insurgent operations with communications channels where they were keeping up with one another, telling people where the military, you know, convoys were moving through the cities, and then they would bring out IEDs, they would set themselves up in positions to provide fire to take on American troops. That's an insurgency effort. This one is very violent, and we. And it should be dealt with aggressively in exactly the way that Jonathan talked about. It may not go to precisely the violence that we saw in, you know, in Basra, but at the same time, it's getting very close to that. But it is what I said, really seriously.
Steve Gruber
This is a pseudo military operation. This is not activism. This is a pseudo military operation. And for those on other networks that would suggest in any way, this is not violent. These are, you know, these are not violent protesters. Well, another agent lost a finger over the weekend because it was bitten off by a protester. Last night, I saw a video Jonathan of a federal agent left alone after these anarchists had attacked a hotel where they thought ICE might be staying. The blood was streaming out of his face. There was blood everywhere. He was left alone by Minneapolis police, abandoned all by himself, with agitators all the way around him. He did have a shotgun in his hand, and that kept him at bay. This is unacceptable, Jonathan. There is violence out there all the time. Biting off a finger. I hope that person goes to prison for a good long spell. The person that punched this federal agent in the face, it looked like he had a broken nose. I've been there before. That's the way it looked to me. Let's talk about that. The violence is real. And for anybody that dismisses. On other networks. They're not being honest, are they?
Jonathan Gilliam
No, absolutely not. And I think this is very crucial because I have acquaintances that are on the ground there with ICE that are in ice, and they can't even go to their hotel and sleep because people are setting off fireworks. They have sirens and horns outside. Things that would get you and I arrested on the street. It's. It's not protected by the First Amendment. This is another issue that we have with law enforcement and officials is that they. They have bastardized the First Amendment to make people believe they're protected or they're giving them protection where really the Constitution doesn't protect them. So I think this is very crucial for the President to make sure that Cash Patel and Pam Bondi, whatever she does, that they. And also Kristi Noem and Tom Holman, that they remember that law enforcement, as usual, is not the way this should be looked at, because this is not a regular law enforcement issue. This is a criminal enterprise or a national security counterintelligence issue. And they need to look at this and investigate this the same way they would with any other criminal enterprise. You know, there's an article here From Time magazine, February 4th of 2021. People should look this up. And it was the secret history of the shadow campaign that saved the 2020 election. Criminals love to brag about what they do. That's why people get caught in jail. I think that this article right here, if people go back and look at it, lays out how this leftist group funds and coordinates all these things. They talk directly about how they can have a protest, a rally, or a party anywhere in the country in two hours, fully funded and. And. And led by people on the ground.
Steve Gruber
That's right.
Jonathan Gilliam
And they're leaving out Ryan, because that's what this actually is.
Steve Gruber
If they get bored in Minneapolis they'll just load their buses and go to the next stop. Except it's not happening anywhere else. And what we're seeing in Minneapolis is unique to Minneapolis in the summer of 2020. It happened some other places, but it was the worst in Minneapolis, Jim, it's happening again in Minneapolis. Bad governor, bad mayor, bad policies, bad outcome. Last word to you?
Jim Pfaff
Yeah, without a doubt. And by the way, this is not a nationwide problem right now. This is happening only in areas where political leaders are encouraging this sort of violence. And let's just be straight up and fair here. Jacob Fry and Tim Waltz are encouraging this behavior. They're doing very little to discourage it. I do hope that the call that President Trump had with Tim Waltz was as he described because maybe we can tamp this down. But unless you deal with the criminality that's involved with this, we, we will have this happening wherever these people are able through the funding and coordination to make it rise up. And they're intent, it seems, upon following ICE around the country and making these demonstrations. While by the way, the even more massive criminality, although less with violence, is taking place in Minnesota. Our national field director went to Ohio. We're seeing it in Maine and other places where all of this fraud is taking place. They're also doing this to cover up the very serious issue of tens of billions of dollars being directed through these government programs with our taxpayer money to give to groups who don't deserve it. Which by the way, much of that money, as we understand, is going to Al Shabaab over in Somalia. This is a serious, serious problem that has to be dealt with aggressively. And I've had people in D.C. and people that I talk to on campaigns trying to say, well, is this gonna hurt us on the midterms? Listen, this is one of where you have to go break through it. They're back off because it's tough. And Donald Trump's administration, particularly Pam, Bonnie and Cash Patel, need to deal with this aggressively because we have to tampa down on a criminality basis or we're just going to see this over and over again.
Steve Gruber

All right, well, Canada's Prime Minister Mark Carney trying to reassure Washington that he isn't cutting a full free trade deal with China. But it's not calming nerves in the White House and Capitol Hill. Carney claims Ottawa's recent tariff rollback for Beijing doesn't violate USMCA rules that the agreement just cuts tariffs on a few sectors. Yet his first trip to China produced a major concession, allowing nearly 49,000 Chinese EVs that slash tariff rates to come into Canada. That move comes after a year of tit for tat tariffs, with Canada mirroring Trump's China policy in 2024 by hammering Chinese EVs and metals. But President Trump has made clear he's not interested in Canada acting as a side door for China to reach American consumers. Trump warned that if Carney wants to make Canada staging ground for Beijing's manufacturers, the United States will respond with a 100% tariff wall, to which Carney has pushed back, saying that they are rectifying issues that have developed over the last few years. Join me to discuss this former congressman, executive director of the American Constitutional Rights Union, Lieutenant Colonel Allen West. Colonel, nice to see you.
Allen West
Good to be with you, Steve. Thank you.
Steve Gruber
All right, so Canada, Mark Carney. I thought that the previous Prime Minister Trudeau was bad. This guy is worse. He's making deals with China. He's undermining American authority. He's questioning our ability to defend the Arctic. This guy is an absolute disaster. Not just for the United States, for his country, if it is his country, because he was, what, a tri citizen before he became prime minister, totally unelected and in charge and making one bad decision after another. Your thoughts?
Allen West
Well, it's very disconcerting that our neighbor to the north, which whom we have, you know, strong economic, energy, national security ties, would go over and sit down and have negotiations and establish trade deals with our number one geopolitical foe, which is China. China has admitted that they seek to replace the United States of America. And let's not forget what Covid, which emanated out of China. It was a biolog, there is no doubt about that. And then fentanyl, which is a chemical weapon as well. And I'm sure it's wreaking havoc upon the Canadian citizenry just the same as it did with the United States. This is a slap in the face of President Trump and our security policies. And again, it is a reason why you see President Trump concerned about Greenland, because all of a sudden, when you have someone like Carney who is making deals with China, that really has to be a big concern because they're trying to, as he said, backdoor their way in to this him once again.
Steve Gruber
Yeah, they certainly are. And they'll do anything to do it. Right now, I'd like to shift gears because there's big trouble in China. Right now. So let's just focus on what's happening there. President Xi has arrested his top general. There are purges and counter purges. According to Gordon Chang, who I spoke about with this about earlier, there's a power struggle inside of China right now, and that's a dangerous place, actually, because we don't actually know at this hour who might be running the place. That's concerning. It creates instability. And if Xi Jinping wants to hang on to power, what is he willing to do to keep it? Big question.
Allen West
Yeah, you're absolutely right. And I'm sure Gordon Chain articulated how the Chinese economy is struggling. And there's been a lot of threats to Xi Jinping's power inside that country. And right now you see that instability. And that instability is because you know China is being confronted when you know that all of a sudden Panama has said they're going to back out of the belt and strategy. When you see what is happening in Iran that has effects upon China because of the oil that flows there, the energy resources. So you're starting to see China really feel isolated and Xi Jinping feeling isolated. And there are many threats to his power, but the question is, who does replace him? But I think the most important thing that the United States of America must continue to do is to isolate this new 21st century axis, which is China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, and as well as these Islamic terrorists and jihadists and the narco terrorists, they're all working together.
Steve Gruber
Yeah. Are you concerned that. My understanding is that the Philippines and a couple of places in the Philippines could be targets for the Chinese to create a distraction, pull the Americans into a conflict. And with everything going on in the world, that would be a sucker punch we don't need. I'll give you the last word on that. Because China right now, we can follow the breadcrumbs. The information is hard to get. It's hard to figure out what is happening, but purge and counter, purge and. And could the Philippines be in jeopardy? Your thoughts?
Allen West
No. Absolutely right. And they have been making incursions along the Scarborough Shoals toward the Philippines. They've been doing attacks against some Philippine naval vessels and you know about the South China Sea. So one of the things, when you have internal issues and problems, lots of times the country will try to lash out externally. So we need to be very careful about that. And that's why, again, having a strong maritime force for the United States of America is so important to deter these type of naval incursions in the Pacific region of operations.
Steve Gruber
Yeah, Carol, I appreciate you being here. We've got to keep an eye on this because you know if she leaves, you never know the devil you know for the devil you don't. That's always the concern. Correct. As always, Colonel. Thank you very much.
Allen West
Thanks so much, Steve. Stay warm. Stay safe up there in Michigan.
Steve Gruber
God bless. All right, after the break, National School Choice Week has officially kicked off. This event meant to empower parents as it relates to finding the most suitable school environment for your kids. Details coming up.

Well, this week is National School Choice Week. With the physical walls of the classroom coming down, options are opening up for millions of American families who are no longer confined to the traditional United States education system. Certainly an important time for parents as this event covers the formative years of K through 12. What does school of Choice mean and what will this look like? Here to discuss is the CEO of Optima Ed Ad Mangana. Adam, nice to have you here. Let's talk about this Schools of Choice. It has been pushed back against by the unions time and again, but parents have slowly but surely been winning this argument and making progress. What does this week mean?
Adam Mangana
Oh my goodness. Steve, first of all, thank you for having me. You know, freedom works best when it's paired with structure. And the idea that we can take world class education and give it to children anywhere regardless of their zip code is an incredibly powerful and American idea.
Steve Gruber
Yeah, all Right. So schools of choice, what kind of things are out there? What are some of the options that parents have? I know you can do homeschooling, but what else is out there? Charter schools, homeschooling, what else?
Adam Mangana
One of the most transformative innovations of the Trump administration has been the educational savings accounts. And for that to be universal and applied across the board in states like Florida and now Texas, which is going to opened up this fall with the largest educational savings account in the country. This allows the money to follow the families, and this gives families agency, right. The ability to be able to choose what works best for their child, to be able to put the power back in the hands of parents, which is the way the educational system should work.
Steve Gruber
You know, I saw Randy Weingarten, the head of the American Federation of Teachers, speaking at the World Economic Forum here last weekend. Davos Singh, the WEF should actually be the ones that create the curriculum for students all over the world. How's that make you feel?
Adam Mangana
Listen, I'll tell you, the reality is parents aren't reeling against teachers. They're reeling against a system that is completely out of touch. And when we try to have this one size fits all model, I was just with my friends in London and in Europe right now, they are actually finding families if they homeschool. We should be really blessed that we're in the best country in the, that allows families to make choice and now empowers families to do that with dollars that have never existed before in the form of these educational savings accounts.
Steve Gruber
So we have the opportunity. Did you say they're putting people in jail for homeschooling?
Adam Mangana
Now? You probably have spent some time in Europe. I was literally just in London at the technology conference there. And we are the envy of the world with this new educational savings account. Because if you choose to home ed your child in a number of European, they fine you or they, they will try to, you know, make it very uncomfortable for you to do so. So, yes, they are.
Steve Gruber
They're finding this straight in Europe now. If you retweet something or repost something on Facebook, they'll pound on your door three in the morning if they don't like it and send you to jail. If you want a better education for your child, they'll fine you or maybe send you to jail. If you say something that insults somebody, they may find you or send you to jail. Man, Europe doesn't sound like a very good place to be anymore. And I'm glad we're here, Adam, and I'm glad parents have an opportunity to do something with their kids. I'll give you the last word.
Adam Mangana
We see the power of decentralization, right? You know, we were able to transition from the Department of ed and that $88 billion has now gone to states. In these states, families can now Access up to $10,000. If you have learning exceptionalities, even more than that, to find what fits best for their academic needs. Think about this ability to put the power back in the hands of parents who know their children better than anyone else. And we're excited to be supporting them at Optima Ed with an option for them through that platform.
Steve Gruber
Adam, I appreciate you being here and sharing the story. Thank you so much.
Adam Mangana
Steve, you have an amazing show. Thank you so much for your time.

Laughter's time at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, President Trump announced that a framework of a deal has been worked out as relates to Greenland. Greenland's acquisition would mean that the US could have a bigger and more direct oversight of Arctic security, not to mention President Trump's bigger goal of establishing the Golden Dome defense system. As the story develops, many are looking at Russia's calm and unfazed response. Vladimir Putin has kept a poker face and went on to state that Greenland is none of Russia's business and that it's up to NATO to sort it out, leaving many to wonder whether this nonchalant attitude by Putin is indicative of something bigger. Join me to discuss a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation, Paul McCarthy. Paul, nice to see you today. Clearly, Russia and China have made overtures about Greenland. They've worked in the North Atlantic. They have, well, they have submarines there as we speak, most likely. Why this nonchalant attitude from Moscow?
Paul McCarthy
Well, Moscow, the best thing that can happen for Moscow is that there's divisions transatlantically between the United States and its NATO allies. And unfortunately for Vladimir Putin, I'm not sure he's getting what he wanted initially out of this. I think President Trump was absolutely brilliant in Davos in putting forward a framework agreement. The details admittedly have yet to materialize on this, but it's clear that President Trump has ratcheted down what he said was going to be an armed intervention in Greenland. That is not going to happen. What is going to happen is a negotiated settlement between the United States, Denmark and Greenland, as in my opinion, it should have been all along. But that does not diminish how important strategically Greenland is for the United States. And President Trump, I think for the first time in a long time has put on the table the necessity that US Involvement in Greenland needs to increase.
Steve Gruber
You know, the biggest full throated defense of Donald Trump came from Mark Rutte, the Secretary General of NATO. He did it again today, lecturing those in the room, saying, you don't like when I applaud Donald Trump. I'm paraphrasing a little bit, but I'm gonna do it anyway, because Donald Trump is right about what he's saying. And he said to his European colleagues, if you think Europe can defend itself by itself, you're mistaken. And he basically called them foolish to their faces to think that they could defend Europe without the American and the American military backing them. What do you think about Mark Ruta being so forceful about his defense of Donald Trump and saying that he's right and that NATO needs America a lot more than we need them?
Paul McCarthy
I've been very, very impressed with Secretary General Ruta, and he's absolutely right to point out that if it weren't for Donald Trump, the NATO allies would not be paying their fair share. And they are definitely moving. Let's take countries like Ireland. Let's take countries like Spain in particular, which was spending a very paltry amount of money. If it weren't for Donald Trump, our NATO allies would simply not be paying their fair share into the alliance as they should. Donald Trump. And Secretary General Ruta is absolutely right about this. Donald Trump has forcefully put on the table that Europe needs to take control of Europe's security matters.
Steve Gruber
Does anyone pay their fair share, or does the whole world just do what they want and send America the bill? Most notably NATO?
Paul McCarthy
It seems like that sometimes, but the direction of travel, as Secretary General Mark Rutte pointed out today in Brussels, is good. The European allies are paying more, but they have so much more to do. And we need to keep the pressure on our European allies so that they shoulder their fair share of defense responsibilities.
Steve Gruber
Well, yeah. Well, here's my question real quickly. I've got about 30 seconds here. Is there a credible military on the European continent? France, maybe. But after that, is there a credible military left? It's not the UK it's not Germany. How would they defend themselves? 20 seconds.
Paul McCarthy
They would not be able to defend themselves, and that's a really scary prospect. What we want to see out of our European allies is moving in the right direction and paying more for their defense.
Steve Gruber
Paul McCarthy, greatly appreciate you being here. I'm sure we'll talk more on this in the days to come. Thank you, sir.
Paul McCarthy
Great being with you, Steve. Bye.
Steve Gruber

Well, some of us are at a tired already this work week as we get into it, but some are still dealing with the effects of that major winter storm that swept over the nation over the weekend. What a mess. Ice and snow and power outages. Millions of Americans still find themselves sheltering in place unless they need to make a quick run and stock up on some essentials like food or medication. Join me to discuss is the CEO of the Wellness Company, Peter Gillooly. Peter, nice to see you. The good news is I don't have to run out because I have this little package right here from the Wellness Company. If I need medication, I've got it right here. You guys do just an amazing job of preparing people for the unexpected. And here's the second part of this. There's another storm building that could be here by this coming weekend it's gonna be a one, two punch. I mean, I mean, you've gotta be prepared out there, Peter, and that's what you help people do, right?
Peter Gillooly
Every year, Steve, tens of billions of Americans are affected by extreme weather. And we're unique in the effect that it doesn't really matter what region of the country you live in. It can be a snowstorm, a hurricane, tornadoes, wildfires, you name it. Every region has their own problems that really mandate that all Americans everywhere are prepared for an emergency. And that's really what we do with these medical emergency kits. You know, you've been very vocal, Steve, about imploring people to stock up on the essentials, food, water, cash or gold ammunition. But people always seem to overlook medications. In reality, majority of Americans live 30 minutes away from the pharmacy or the doctor's office. So even if you need medications in a pinch, it's quite a lift sometimes to go get them. And that's really what we're trying to help with. A medical emergency kit in every American's home.
Steve Gruber
Absolutely. You've got several out there. I showed one. That's the basic medical emergency kit. This is the first aid kit. Trust me, gravity always wins, no matter whether there's an emergency or not or a storm. This is another one I keep around. There are just so many options because you guys have really stopped and thought, what do people need? Because it's something else. It's not just it's 30 minutes to the pharmacy. Some people are farther away these days because pharmacies are closing. You see this in the headlines all the time. They're closing their doors. People live in a medical desert. You need to be prepared even if there's not a storm, right?
Peter Gillooly
They absolutely do. Steve Walgreens, cvs. All these big corporations came in and bought out main street pharmacies across America and then they figured out that they didn't like the economics and they closed down. And now these small communities have nothing. And to your point, even things like that first aid emergency kit, it contained life saving prescriptions like an EpiPen, another vital device that every single American should have in their home in case themselves or even when you have have friends over for the big game in two weeks, right? Someone eats a cookie with a nut in it and suddenly they're on the floor gasping for breath, have these things on hand. It could save a life.
Steve Gruber
It certainly could. So let's talk about the medications that are in this kit. Antivirals, antibacterials, antibiotics, just to name a few. And by the way, every One of these kits comes with a book, an instruction book that says, here's how you use everything here so you know exactly what you're doing. What are the things you recommend that people don't leave out of their kits and make sure they have in their house no matter what happens?
Peter Gillooly
We believe access to medications is a basic right. And to your point, Steve, that guidebook in the kit gives you instructions on how to diagnose 30 plus medical conditions that you can help treat with the medications in the kit in case you're unable to actually talk to a doctor, such as millions of Americans today on Monday who woke up to no power. So it contains the essentials, things like a Z pack, things like ivermectin, Bactrim, Amoxicillin, four more medications for a total of eight prescriptions in one kit. And it's all written by a licensed medical provider here in the United States and dispensed from our own pharmacy here in the United States. We have the end to end process under our oversight. And you can be sure that your data is safe with us.
Steve Gruber
American made. Well, there's a concept we like around here. American made, American produced. An American company. So you've got got that in the emergency kit like you said. You got the EpiPen and other things. I had a bad burn on my hand here a year ago. This was the kit that had the stuff that I needed for that moment because if I had driven to the emergency room, it would have gotten much worse. There was a burn cream in there. It was great. Finally, what's the latest on the flu And Covid, I know that that's going around. I don't know if the worst of it's over yet, but it's been a pretty bad year for all of that. What can we expect before it gets better?
Peter Gillooly
It's been a nasty year, Steve. And look, the flu and Covid this year have hired an awesome PR team because everybody seems to be talking about it. And look, it is a little bit nastier than usual. But let's face it, when you're indoors, and especially when there's cold weather outside, the body's immune system doesn't react quite as fast when it's exposed to cold air than warm air and it causes you to get sicker. So we really recommend a treat yourself and your immune system in the highest regard. Get sleep, take a little bit of extra vitamin C and zinc. The wellness company offers a wide variety of nasal sprays and throat washes you can use to cleanse your sin that really can help prevent viruses from taking hold. And if you do get sick, don't wait to treat yourself. The number one way that you can stay healthy is the second you feel a scratch in your throat, a runny nose coming on, open your medical emergency kit and take the medication you need to get better. That really is the best time to treat sickness within the first 24 hours of the symptoms being present.
Steve Gruber
He's exactly. I use the nasal sprays, by the way, daily. Daily defense. That's what I do. Look, I'm a true believer in your company, Peter. You know that. I appreciate you being here. Thank you for sharing.
Peter Gillooly
Thank you, Steve.

What Makes America Wonderful? We do it every day with the hope of putting a smile on your face before you head on down the road. Today's story comes to us from Greenville county in South Carolina, where a call to serve turned into something very life changing. Back in 2023, Sheriff's Deputy Brittany Bratcher was dispatched to a location in order to provide protection. And when she got to that location, Deputy Bratcher realized that she was tasked with protecting a little girl. After the first encounter, Deputy Bradshaw felt a deeper calling tugging at her heartstrings, and after sitting with it, that tug was just enough for her to decide to formally adopt that child. Well, after a long and difficult legal journey where patience and perseverance were key, Deputy Bratcher's request to adopt was formally approved earlier this month. A heartwarming result to say the very least. Good things coming to those who wait is the moral of today's story. And Deputy Bratcher's patience, who atop this little girl certainly paid off for both of them remind us of what makes America wonderful. Good for both of them. All right, the Question of the day the Steve Gruber show what kind of impact did the winter storm have on your community over the weekend? Brian Steele wrote, Very little effect. Dodged the bullet, so to speak. Not everybody did though. Brian, did you see that electric prices in some places went up nine times just over the weekend? Oh, they're just going to stick it to you. Penelope Brandenburg Lots of neighbors working together on four wheelers with plow blades in a small mountain community in southern West Virginia to keep our one lane road cleared. It's nice when neighborhoods come together. I told you, go check on your neighbors. That's still true today. If you've got neighbors, elderly neighbors, or people that are vulnerable in some way, make sure you check on them. If you haven't seen them in a day or two, Susan Brumbaugh wrote, none. Winter hasn't showed up in northern Utah. Well, the storm didn't come to Utah. Riva Rice, Northwest Louisiana is one giant sheet of ice with northern Michigan temperatures. Maybe some will melt by Wednesday, freeze over at night. Me and the hubby are good. The rest of the folks here are in panic mode with 5,000 rolls of toilet paper. Well, there could be an emergency. I mean, no point to get down on them, right? By the way, I mentioned this, the temperature here at the Studio in Michigan Saturday morning. Minus 25.4 degrees Fahrenheit now. Wind chill. Ambient air temperature minus 25.4. Beautiful sunshine. Not a breath of wind. Now that, my friends, is cold. People in the south would just shrivel up and die. Which again, is why we won the war, because we're tougher. All right, John Versanti Jr. Everything came to a halt. The snowstorm never materialized. The ice storm was a glazing event. Everything has melted or is melting. Just south of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brian Sharkey writes this in East Tennessee. We pretty much missed it, but it's 9 degrees. Being from Chicago, that's no sweat. But Nashville got hit hard. Thousands without power, trees down. Still this afternoon, I heard that Lisa Latia. Everything shut down. But people helped others. That's good. Always good. Debbie Caesar. It was extremely cold and my pipes froze. Mine did, too. On Saturday morning, Rip Higgins just gave me an excuse to have fun with a Jeep. Attaboy, Rip. Get out there and give it the gas. That's why they have internal combustion engine. And Jordan Maxim writes this. A little ice on Sunday morning here in South Carolina. You know, for the folks that got hit hard, they can't send me an email. They don't have power or Internet. So there is that yet. Minus 25.4. Think about that. That is an attention getter. I did wait till it was minus 17 to let the chickens out, though, so they got a little bit of a break on that one. I always appreciate you checking in. You can always send me an email. Go to stevegruber.com, send me an email. If you got a great story in your neck of the woods, I'd like to hear about it. Or just tell me what's going on in your world. Like to hear about it. Remember to join me tomorrow morning to start your broadcast. And here, Unreal America's Voice with the Steve Gruber Show. Until then, we'll see you tomorrow. This is an iHeart podcast. Guaranteed Human.
