It's great to be here. It's good to see you in line. So we run into each other everywhere it seems like we do.

[David Zier]

You're all over the place and so important. You know, we run into each other at the Pentagon briefings and there's so many hot topics out there. Last week I was at Camp Atterbury, Indiana for a demonstration of a drone strike for the Lucas system and the WASP and about 40 other defense contractors. Latest technology, whole new landscape on the battlefield, right?

[L Todd Wood]

Completely. And I don't think that while we're trying to, the US Military is really trying to, you know, deal with all these technologies and they're not quite there yet, but from a defensive standpoint they are. From an offensive standpoint, I think, well,

[David Zier]

we lead the way in technology probably, and the amount of weapons systems, delivering them at speed and scale. But it's scary, right? Because, you know, could we be overwhelmed? Can our defenses be overwhelmed both in our ship and our fleets and on the ground?

[L Todd Wood]

It's possible. And we've seen strikes in the Iranian theater which have hurt American assets and people. And I think they're very worried about that and focused on that. But they are focused, which is good. So that hasn't been the case in the past, but they are now.

[David Zier]

I was pushing your concept of the nets around bases overseas. Have you gotten any traction with that?

[L Todd Wood]

Not really. You know, Americans like expensive solutions and that one's not very expensive, so. Yeah, but yeah, I pushed it hard for the Air Force, at least throw some nets over these B2s and stop the FPV drones from coming in.

[David Zier]

Yeah, I mean, in reality, it could look like a topgolf, right?

[L Todd Wood]

Yeah, completely. I mean, and it's effective. The Russians are using the Ukrainians, the Gulf countries are using them now. So it's effective.

[David Zier]

I understand the battlefield in Ukraine and then the Russia front lines are littered with like, fiber optic cable. Can you talk about that?

[L Todd Wood]

They are. Because that defeats the electronic warfare. Right. But I think there are next level technologies coming in which could, and I've been told from flag officers in Hawaii at the Landpack conference that they are focused on, they call them passive, you know, defense technologies on those systems.

[David Zier]

Well, I wanted to go to landpac Waikiki beach last week, but we were on the road for real. America's voice tell us about that and why was it so critical, especially while Trump was in China?

[L Todd Wood]

Well, what I got out of it was all of the allied commanders were there from Korea, from Singapore, from New Zealand, etc. And their focus across the militaries together is interoperability and to be able to combat the threat from an overall standpoint. And I think that was very focused and also on the development of new technologies and innovation at speed and scale, as you said.

[David Zier]

Now you are a CESAR pilot for about 20 years, delivering, inserting, rescuing, special operators. Right.

[L Todd Wood]

I was eight years as a special operations pilot and CESAR was one of our missions. But the main mission was getting teams in and out, Tier one teams in and out of theater.

[David Zier]

So why is, like this week important? I know there's a lot of industry partners here, but tell us, you know, what's the status of a SOCOM today and why is this stuff so critical?

[L Todd Wood]

Well, you know, back when I was flying 911 hadn't happened yet, and so we were kind of very, you know, silent. It's not that way anymore. Look around you. I mean, this is a massive industry and it's a machine now, and it's creating all kind of opportunities, employment technologies for the United States. I think it's a good thing. Sofa is. No, it's. We used to call it the show, but it's now the big show, the big tent. I mean and that's where a lot of the resources are going. So much so that I worried in the past that the mainline forces weren't getting enough attention. So I think it's good that we shift back to peer to peer competitor type technology.

[David Zier]

I am doing all right.

Wonderful. Tell us about what you guys do.

[Ross O'Giri]

So Radical Defense specializes in additive manufacturing or metal 3D printing. Our primary focus has been blast over blast overpressure reduction between 5.56 carbines all the way up to big 50 caliber machine guns and 40 millimeter grenade launchers.

[David Zier]

So tell us what this does. This is a Mark 19.

[Ross O'Giri]

So the Mark 19 system is currently in development. It is there to reduce the blast overpressure exposure from personnel firing the system or the assistant gunner around the system. Blast overpressure is an issue that Dow has really been trying to tackle lately as far as warfighter health and safety is concerned. And that's the side that we we approach with our suppression systems. So most people when they think of a traditional suppressor will think of it from the aspect of lethality which is reduced signature, less ground disturbance, less muzzle flash, harder for the enemy to see where you're firing from. Our approach from it, while that is an added benefit is the primary concern is reducing that concussive force to the warfighter to help protect their brain health so they don't get out of service with a TBI even if they never deploy.

[David Zier]

Oh wow. Traumatic brain injuries.

[Ross O'Giri]

Yeah, the traumatic brain injuries are still occurring even in the training environment because of excessive blast overpressure exposure. That's one of the reasons why they've assigned.

[David Zier]

Can you show us the truck over here?

[Ross O'Giri]

Yeah, for sure.

[David Zier]

What kind of frame is this? An RCR?

[Ross O'Giri]

This is RCR. This is the 6 watt which is a configurable vehicle. They were nice enough to bring one out and let us put it in the booth so we could display some of the crew serve systems. So we've got an M2 machine gun up here on top of the turret ring with our bad M2 which is a blast attenuation device for the M2 machine gun. Our GPS, which is our general purpose 7.62 machine gun suppressor for the M240. And then on the other side we have a M249 saw.

[David Zier]

That's the 556.

[Ross O'Giri]

556 version. So that is actually wearing our new carbine can which is rated for the saw, which is our CS5 mod one. So the next generation of our 556 carbine can, you can run it on a belt fed machine gun. It is primarily intended however, for carbines like the Marine Corps M27 IAR M4 carbines. Short barreled Mark 18s. Yeah, so that, that's a whole new product for us which is the net. Like I said, the next generation, it's smaller, it's lighter, it's got incredible first round flash performance and we're, we're super excited.

[David Zier]

Are these products in service right now?

[Ross O'Giri]

So the current CS5 mod one, we did just win a contract with a government agency. They have not released me to actually publicly state who it is yet. We're still waiting for their PAO to approve a press release on it, but that should be coming pretty soon. We have participated in Soldier enhancement program with the 50 caliber suppressor and the M240 suppressor. Hopefully we'll see some more movement on some of those programs here soon.

Right, absolutely.

UXP Technology.

Uxv. Where you based out of?

We have a production facility here in Pennsylvania in US and then we also have one in Denmark.

[David Zier]

You're partnering with Department of War Private industry partnerships.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

We mainly do private industry partnerships.

[David Zier]

Can you tell us about some of the equipment I'm looking at?

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

Yeah. So this is like the ISROC ecosystem Soldier Robotic controller. So this is controllers where you can literally take any radio, tactical radio, and slap them on the backside like that. It's a harmonized ecosystem. See whether you have a handheld computer like this or you have a one hand controller like this, you have all the same switches and buttons and everything to, to reduce the cognitive load of the soldier.

[David Zier]

Wow. It's like a Nintendo dream.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

It's literally like the center for military.

[David Zier]

Right. So, so what kind of operations is this? Like a mobile command center to direct multiple platforms?

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

Yeah, they can be used to control like swarms, but like all our customers,

[David Zier]

what we do is like a drone swarm.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

Yeah. Also like drone swarm. But the idea here is that we, we reduce the amount of equipment that the soldier needs to bring to, to the battlefield, that he can use the same controller for all the different operations. So if he needs to, to control another robot, he just takes another radio instead.

[David Zier]

Wow.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

And then that means that reduces all the, the equipment that he needs to carry out to the battlefield. But the cool thing is also we have different size controllers which all do the same. So if you're in a CQB environment, you might want to have a very small controller like this. But if you're more like isi, you want bigger controllers or we have even bigger controllers.

[David Zier]

Wow. Pretty extraordinary. You know the battlefield's evolved. Coming a long way in a short amount of time, right?

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

Yes, very much.

[David Zier]

Yeah.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

You know, the drones are some of the, what can you say, crazy weapons. Because I usually say drones is like the modern foxhole. In the, in the prior big wars. You're digging a hole and then you are hiding yourself behind that. Now you're thinking you are sitting behind a screen and doing like foxhole fall.

Right.

[David Zier]

Reducing your casualty rates too.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

So this is like battlefield advantage. This is the next generation foxhole.

[David Zier]

Wow. Very interesting. How do you see the relationship these days, you know, Department of War, Trump with defense acquisitions getting stuff at speed and scale to the war fighters. You see a change.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

I would say we have quite a rapid, what can you say? Purchasing already, but it's been accelerated even more. Like volume is going up, they want more tighter deadlines. We like it because we are a very commercial company. We see ourselves as a TVE technology company that also works in defense. So we have a very, very tech background in how we operate. Which is it's more about like how do you get pricing down, how do we get economy of scale, how do you get technology quicker in the hands

[David Zier]

of the warfare and real time threats out there? Right.

[Steven (CEO of UHV Technologies)]

How do we evolve faster? Like iterate. Iterate, Iterate.

[L Todd Wood]

Right.

I was on the ground in Tampa Bay for Soft week, Special Operation Forces Week at the Tampa Bay Convention Center. And I've got great interviews with technology leaders partnering with the Department of War to protect our troops, Special Operations Forces Week here in Tampa. And we have Christian Oliver from Blue Sky Innovations. How are you, sir?

Good, sir.

Great, great. So tell us about what we got here. This is a pretty elaborate booth, lots going on.

Right.

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

So Blue Sky Innovations, most people know us as Blue Sky Mast. We basically supply power and elevation to the war fighter on tactical edge.

[David Zier]

Right. So where do we start?

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

Well, this is our core line of products. We've been doing this for about 20 years and as you can see, basically a lot of force protection, counter uas, point to point and, and this whole line right here is kind of highlighting our elevation capability. And so we've been doing this a long time.

[David Zier]

So what's that in layman's terms?

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

Height. So basically putting cameras, cameras up high and communication up high so you can get over the curvature there because you have line of sight communications. You can't talk to it if you can't see it.

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

Right.

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

You can't identify if you can't see it. A lot of times that requires elevation.

[David Zier]

Interesting, interesting. And what are we looking at over here?

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

So this is interesting product. So we're really excited about this one. So we were putting sign devices on mountaintops Afghanistan back in 2008, realized that power on tactical edge was a very big problem. In 2020 we got really serious about getting after it. So what you're looking at is this is a 1 to 6 kilowatt hybrid auxiliary power unit. What you're looking at right here is the world's smallest common rail fuel injected diesel engine. It was made by a company called Lamborghini in Italy for many cars. Very special configuration. But what's really cool we did. So we took this, we put an axial flux motor on it with our own design power electronics out of DARPA that was matured through afrl. So what you have is a software controlled, super high efficient diesel converter.

[David Zier]

And you partnered up with another company here for the chassis, right?

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

Yes, sir. So this is. So this is Richard Childress racing and one of the engine things for the state of North Carolina and Pat Harrigan have been highly supportive. So North Carolina helped us. We all spent a year retooling us on a full floor in Italy. It landed three weeks ago at a brand new 70,000 square foot facility in Lexington, North Carolina. Richard Childress Racing helped us find that facility. So the state of North Carolina. So you are now looking at 100% US content and we are a small surface disabled veteran business. So we're about 80 people strong. I always like to say we funds way above our weight class but we do really love the war fighter.

What about research and development? Do you partner with academia as well?

[Christian Oliver (Blue Sky Innovations)]

Yes. So we're working with North Carolina State, looking to work with Charlotte, University of Charlotte. And right now we're building a. We're really excited because we're building a North Carolina coalition right now to help North Carolina bring manufacturing into defense. And this is a perfect example because North Carolina has got amazing companies that can do.

[David Zier]

That's absolutely incredible. I spent a lot of time there. Bragg with the GYOP and the Duke Joint Innovation Outpost. It's been a really busy first day. Second day started off the same way. Great interactions with some great people, a lot of lessons to learn, a lot of takeaways for industry to assist the Department of War.

[David Zier]

Yeah. And the role of the special operators really increased, right?

[Glen Air Representative]

Absolutely. As a former Air force special operator, 25 years, being able to interact with everybody, get the requirements of what do actually needs and have industry come together with Brady conference flying companies to be able to get what the forces actually need versus what we think they need.

[David Zier]

Can you tell us about what we have here and some of the systems you guys make?

[Glen Air Representative]

Absolutely. So Glenn Air, one of our product lines is a Star Pan product line. It's a power data management system. On this vehicle we're showcasing our 10 port hub which does power data management for all the different peripherals that a ground force may have. Whether it's a green radio, a black radio or a video downlink receiver, Starlink, whatever it may be, we ingest all the information that the units on the ground require for commanders to make Decision and accept risk on behalf of the President. So what we do is we put all that together, we distribute amongst the ground via the power data management solutions side and increase the situation awareness for the troops so they can go and execute their mission and come home safe.

[David Zier]

So I remember the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm. You know, my friend was riding around a dune buggy with a laser designator. It's really evolved a long way from that, right?

[Glen Air Representative]

It has. So as a former JTAC that did the laser designation to identify those targets, to put bombs on targets, what we've done is we've taken more people out of the loop. So decreasing the risk to the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines and be able to go from a sensor to a shooter solution, to an aircraft, to a helicopter, to a weapon system and allow that commander that's in the digital loop to accept that risk, to make that decision to engage those targets, saving lives and reducing the risk to the forces on the ground.

[David Zier]

And then would this be a typical chassis? This is a Polaris vehicle.

[Glen Air Representative]

So this is a Polaris M Razor. What special operation forces have used, what I've used in Afghanistan. So we just outfitted, rigged art the way we think they would use it so they can actually see how our equipment can increase, increase their situational awareness on the ground.

[David Zier]

I spent a lot of time in the Pentagon recently. Seems like there's a lot of unity going on as far as focusing on the mission at hand, not being distracted with some other issues.

[Glen Air Representative]

Oh, you're absolutely correct. So the cool thing, what I think about the Department of War, this at this point where they're at, they've got the right people in the right places doing good decisions and making them for the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines on

[David Zier]

the ground, partnering with industry and academia to deliver the warfighter at speed and scale, the systems they need, right?

[Glen Air Representative]

Absolutely. When you involve academia with the Department of War, with industry and all those great minds come together, especially US based companies like Glenn Air, we can get this stuff out to them in a quick, very quick process for what they need to get the mission done. Glen Air is a total private company, employs veterans, civilians. We have over 500 engineers on staff, mechanical, electrical, design engineers, software engineers. So very cool company to be a part of.

We're doing well. How are you?

You got something really interesting here. This thing is huge. And this is A scale model?

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

Yes, sir. It's about half scale. So it's, it's very big. It's a Group 5 UAV about a fighter class size. We carry the ordinance of that of say an F35 or F16 internally and externally with about three, four times the range. The main problem we're trying to solve here is Runway dependence. So day one of a high threat fight. Those runways are going to be gone. Your entire fighter fleet is going to be on the ground because you can take off. So what we're doing here with XP is a tactically deployable launch recovery vehicle. Expat will deploy autonomously anywhere in the field. You put these trailers, vertical takeoff and landing just like it takes off.

[David Zier]

So this is battlefield ready with a vtol, right? A vertical takeoff of landing.

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

Yep.

Yeah.

It's got a powerful F16 engine. We'll take off vertically fully autonomously using our hive mine autonomy stack. Do its mission fully autonomously. Because of our mission autonomy stack within high pine, full ordinance, payload, full sensor suite. You can take tracks off board or do the entire kill chain on expat itself. All for about the fourth of the

cost of an F. How high could it fly and how fast can it go?

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

It can. The high subsonic vehicle. So about 0.8, 0.9 Mach.

[David Zier]

Yeah.

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

Our ceiling is about 50,000ft.

[David Zier]

And the range.

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

And the range with a full payload and a full full tank of gas and get you about a thousand nautical mile combat radius. But a fairy range of about 3,000.

[David Zier]

Can you share what type of payload it can carry or how many pounds?

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

Sure. So we have a max takeoff gross weight of about 23,300 pounds. So it carries about 12,000 pounds of ordinance and a full navy portfolio. Weapons.

[David Zier]

It's massive.

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

Everything from El Rosums.

[David Zier]

So how far out are you from service? Is it in service yet?

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

It is not. We have our first flight test later this year to prove out the launch recovery mechanism. We are planning to be production and operationally ready by 2030.

[David Zier]

Wow. Really a lot of high tech battlefield changing, right?

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

Absolutely. And what we are high TRL on all of our sensors and everything on the.

[David Zier]

What's trl?

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

The tech readiness level. So we are not doing anything super exquisite. We are using proven technologies with some brand new ideas, all autonomously.

Is this part of the T Rex? The technology. Technological readiness experimentation.

[Mark Goolsbeh (SHIELD AI)]

It is not. It is not.

Yeah, great question. The expat, we are targeting a 50 fully missionized cost of around 30 million.

Very well, thanks.

Great. Tell us what you got going on. What do you guys do?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

So AIM like, builds autonomous systems. We focus on fire control. That's. That means we're integrating sensors and then we're controlling the effectors. We see a lot of examples of this around here. We have remote weapon stations.

[David Zier]

Sometimes they have. Yeah, what kind of platforms can that.

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

Yeah, they can go on books, ground vehicles, even fixed site defense.

[David Zier]

And what do we have over here?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

These are some of the smaller units. Units here.

[David Zier]

Can we go check it out?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

Absolutely. All of these systems are autonomous fire control systems. So we use embedded compute.

[David Zier]

And this is one of your early systems?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

Yeah, absolutely. It's an early prototype. We use it to increase the mission effectiveness of helicopter snipers. So it's got a fire control computer inside. It uses the cameras to locate targets, then it automatically compensates the right firing solution to make sure every shot counts.

[David Zier]

And now tell us about what we have here.

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

Yeah. The Rampart system is a small remote weapon station. It also has a 7.62 machine gun. This one happens to be a electric chain gun from lmt.

[David Zier]

Is it in service?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

This one is still in. It's in service with the Navy, but now we're offering it to ground forces as well.

[David Zier]

So this could be deployed in any battlefield environment. Primarily for what? Air defense and defense systems.

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

Short range air defense. You can even use it for ground defense as well. And then if you needed an unmanned ground system like this robot from MVP Robotics to participate in a ground assault, you could plan that in as well.

[David Zier]

All right, so you have a chassis here that's like. It could be an autonomous device.

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

That's right.

[David Zier]

Right. Combined with the weapons platform that could probably sit atop any vehicle, right?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

That's right. We put it on crude vehicles, we put it on uncrewed vehicles, boats, trucks, fixed sites.

[David Zier]

And when you say an electric chain gun, high rate of fire.

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

This one is several hundred rounds per minute. Yeah, it's very similar to our GAS 762 machine guns, except because it's electric driven, it has a really high reliability.

[David Zier]

And what's the range? How far out could it take out, say, a drone?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

Yeah, usually drone effectiveness is up to 500 meters. That's sort of a factor of the dispersion of all the ammunition. But the sensors work well for that and the autonomy works well.

[David Zier]

And how would that get to the battlefield?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

These are often transported in the same way you transport other small vehicles, vehicles. So if you have air infill, you transport it on those air vehicles. Otherwise it's going to be a ground infiltration.

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

So Zodiac Mil Pro has several lines of rigid hull inflatable craft and fully inflatable boats.

[David Zier]

Legendary Zodiac.

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

Here are two examples. The high end product line for rigid hull inflatable boats is a Zodiac Hurricane line. Built primarily in Vancouver, British Columbia and Stevensville, Maryland. The Hurricane line is fully customizable to customer requirements, primarily military law enforcement. On the other side here is a typical, less customizable but highly capable sea rider line, primarily built in Rosa, Spain and Stevensville, Maryland. This is an example of a fiberglass hull with Evinrude engines. This is our test boat. So we take all kinds of technologies, engines, electronics, different floor systems, put them in a boat and we show it for technology. We Prove out put 100 hours, 200 hours on this boat and try out all the products. This is typically used for law enforcement, dive support, and there's foreign military customers use this as an affordable platform.

[David Zier]

Can you tell me about the propulsion system?

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

So the propulsion system is from, from BRP Evinrude. Evinrude is starting or restarting their outboard engine product line, starting with these 150 horsepower stealth engines. These are ostensibly submersible and typically on an outboard engine you have a vertical power head driving a shaft into the lower unit where the propeller runs. These have a horizontal power head driving a standard propeller. But what's interesting about these engines is the cowling is waterproof. Air intake comes from inside the boat through one of these. So in some of our missions like stern launch and recovery, the engine can be submerged for short amounts of time. Enables us to do some things like in rescue missions. On this arch you might see a self riding system, an inflatable bladder that puts the boat back up if there's a capsize.

[David Zier]

Interesting. Does that get deployed if there's an accident?

[Jarrett (Glen Air)]

It is.

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

If it's. If a large boat like this rolls over, it's not an automatic auto inflation for crew safety that allows the the boat crew to get away from the boat. They'll swim back into the boat and manually deploy the auto inflation system from a safe distance. It'll turn the boat back over. Now the key about these engines is because they are submersible on a standard outboard engine. If the boat capsizes, chances are high that the engine will be hydrolocked and you won't really be able to restart it. Submersible engine, they will still shut off. But the now you don't have the water infiltration, very small chance of water being infiltrated. So once you put the boat back over, you can at least get to safety.

[David Zier]

How fast can it go?

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

In this configuration, this SRR 870 came out higher horsepower engine. Say with twin 250 horsepower we might get 53 knots.

[David Zier]

And what about the bigger version here?

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

So the bigger version, again, this is customizable. And this boat was built for a, for the Canadian government. This is designed for a multi mission military platform, air transportation, portable ship deployable. So it's made to be hoisted on board larger combatants. It has twin Volvo diesel engines. This boat, this family of boats, a 9 meter hurricane can be built with the aft engine compartment or a mid engine compartment, leaving the back here much like a pickup tailgate.

[David Zier]

Interesting.

[Jim Keller (Zodiac Mil Pro)]

So all these seats could be mounted back aft. You could have a tailgate and work off of here, meaning we could put things like that. Inflatable boat, the FC470 could be carried on board the boat in the aft section.

Wow.

So this type of boat is available in 9 meters, 11 meters. And Zodiac Hurricane builds boats up to 13 meters now in diesel, IO and outboard for interceptor emissions.

Tell us about what you have going on at the show today.

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

Yeah, so we're a wearable edge compute and instrumentation company. Our focus is supporting the ATAK ecosystem with tack immersion and then adding AI disruption into the mix.

[David Zier]

Can you give us some examples?

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

Yeah. So essentially we've built out, we built out a very modular wearable edge compute system. A few of the innovations. First and foremost, one of the things that operators hate most are cables. So we've actually created a power and data vac plane that allows us to basically get rid of all the cables and actually build the interconnects into the tactical nylon. So on the, on the bench here we've got the system in a vest, a plate carrier configuration. You'll see other configurations around the, around the booth here is a ruck or a vehicle mounted configuration. We've got a K9 harness over on the Other side. Lots of different, lots of different configurations.

[David Zier]

Tell us about the. I see a wetsuit up there.

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

So this is one of, one of, one of our specialties is what we call mill rugged base layer instrumentation. So we're able to integrate electronic functionality into base layer. And so here actually we've got a number of systems. This is actually a heated apparel system that we actually have fielded across rotary wing and boat operations. We partnered with one of our partners, First Beer, and I've actually integrated into a canine coverlet. On the other side is another application of the heated technology for a heated casabac blanket. Oh wow. One of our customer sets is on the board operation sites and heated the power plate perspective. So we actually are able to. They wear the heated apparel base there underneath this dry suit from one of our partners, Mustang Survival. So we worked with Mustang to actually integrate.

[David Zier]

You're integrating communications and all kinds of platforms, right?

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

Yeah, yeah. In this case it's, in this case it's heat. But like we've done other things like as we walk over the booth in a minute, you'll see the same technology being applied to gesture controls. So we're actually applying that where you, you can actually control multiple drones with just a pair of jackets. So another very interesting application from the wearable compute perspective. Will here is wearing what we call a multimodal UAS control system. So he's using a combination of gesture embedded into a liner glove that you would wear under your tactical glove and voice to actually fly multiple drone on the monitor there.

[David Zier]

He's controlling, he's controlling with his uav.

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

He's controlling his UAV with a combination of gesture. He's actually calibrating this right now to get it started and then he can control using fixed gestures. I'll let him speak through the demo.

Yeah, so you see what I just did there is I initiated mission mode. So by doing a double thumb finger tap, I initiated the drone to start navigating along certain waypoints that we pre programmed into the, into the simulator. So we've pre programmed a list of seven to 10 gestures here. But you can imagine any gesture that you want, you could program to a gesture mapped to some sort of autonomous function or any type of function on a drone.

[David Zier]

What environment would that gesturing be an advantage for our warfighters?

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

I mean the big thing is keeping the war fighter heads up in a, you know, you don't want to be heads down in a control in a controller. So it's just really a more advanced human machine interface that you're able to stay in the fight. Not down on a controller. You can instead of being mapped one operator to one controller here you could actually have multiple like tens of Changing battlefield. A changing battlefield.

[David Zier]

Yeah, yeah. Have you seen so I've been covering the Pentagon. Trump, you know, authored or executed for executive orders for defense acquisitions to get stuff at speed and scale to the war fighting community, cooperation with private industry and academia. Have you seen any improvements in that realm in the last year or so?

[Brian (Human Systems Integration)]

So I mean we're, we're basically honestly on the small on the smaller side. So we're still waiting for some of that stuff to Are any of these products in service? Yeah, yeah. We fielded like our Gen 1 system. We have over eight and a half thousand systems fielded the gesture control system. We've over 10,000 on the commercial side. That was actually one that we actually started on the commercial side.

[David Zier]

We're here at Soft week in Tampa and we are joined by Alex from Ghost Works Marine based out of Michigan. How are you sir?

I'm doing well. How are you?

I'm great. What do you got going on here? This is an incredible boat.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

So I'm Ghost Works. We have come here with our entire fleet. We have all of our models ranging from the 40 foot Minerva which is over there to our little Muts which are over there, which is three, three and a half meters long and autonomous.

[David Zier]

How big is the boat we're on now?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

This is a GT34. And what's interesting about this GT34 is there's a catamaran hull with two T foils.

[David Zier]

So it lifts up out of the water?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Yes, so it lifts up out of the water, but not like a true foiling boat that comes out all the way on the foils. It just gives a foil assist.

[David Zier]

Can we walk around a little bit?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

So the foil assist allows for incredibly incredible stability as well as it digs you back in instead of launching you off a wave. It also drastically decreases your listing while through turns, meaning that if you were engaging with someone, you could remain engaging with them while turning and evasively.

[David Zier]

How could this serve for the special operators?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

It's got multiple purposes ranging from clandestine looking like a clandestine boat sneaking into where they shouldn't be, or as a high speed interdiction vessel as we want.

[David Zier]

So it's quieter.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

It is quieter. And the wake scar is much reduced compared to traditional.

[David Zier]

Interesting. Can you talk about the propulsion system?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Yep. So what we've got powering it back here is two Mercury Verado V10s. These are the 400 horsepower versions. You'll see a lot of boats nowadays with six or seven of these engines on the back and all you're doing at that point is adding more weight and not going much faster. So this works. Is really trying to capitalize.

[David Zier]

And this is fuel efficient, right? Two miles to the gallon?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Yes sir. Two miles, three miles depending on where

[David Zier]

you're pushing and what's the range.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

So this configuration has a 350 gallon tank and you can get just about brand new.

[David Zier]

Now you got a bigger bad boy over there. Was that 40ft or so?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

That is our M40, which is. Her name's Minerva and she is. She's a beast.

[David Zier]

How wide's the beam?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

She's about 14 and a half foot wide. So she's very wide.

[David Zier]

What kind of engines you got on there?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Same exact Mercury V10 Veradas, 400 horsepower.

[David Zier]

Wow.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

But she's a complete carbon fiber boat. Pre preg hull and then wet layup for the rest.

[David Zier]

Can you talk about the autonomous vehicles over there?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Yes. These are unmanned vessel, unmanned surface vessels. They are epoxy builders. Like all of our vessels are powered by 40 horsepower Mercury engines.

[David Zier]

Yeah.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

They also have the ability to displace up to 400 hours, about 500 pounds. Orbit horizon GPS over the horizon capabilities. GPS Starlink. As well as being able to be manned.

[David Zier]

How fast can they go? They plan surprise.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

They can get up into the. Into the mid-40s.

[David Zier]

What about the range?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

The range on those will probably be about 300, 400, 200 miles. I'm not quite sure.

[David Zier]

And what about this guy here? How big is this one?

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

This is Magic. Magic is our quick boat. She has two two hundreds on the back, giving her a total of 400 horsepower, which is a ton for a 24 foot boat.

[David Zier]

Now you're in the development acquisition stage or with Department of War, you're trying to get your product in front of them.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Yeah, I'm not part of the sales department but I believe so, yes sir.

[David Zier]

All right. And they could be modular, right? They could be. You could achieve like weapon systems on here or other.

[Alex (Ghost Works Marine)]

Fully modular as well as fully customizable. We don't like to think of ourselves as boat builder but marine solutions providers.

[David Zier]

They're moving swiftly across that roof, descending into the belly of the yacht and engaging the enemy below. Ladies and gentlemen, as that assault force prepares to breach the lowers decks, cast your eyes back to the skies above the channel. Providing critical overwatch for this high stakes operation is an MH60. Ladies and gentlemen.
