You're watching real America's Voice news. And happy Thanksgiving to everyone and their families here and Thanksgiving greetings to Erin and Fran holding it down in the control room and they have to put up with me every week. So thank you guys and girls. Listen, there's four House races in Virginia and New Jersey that may flip blue and the outlook is at least plus 5 to the Dem side. And the best case scenario is the Republicans pick up 11 seats. Best case for Democrats right now is five next year. But I'm worried, you lose control of the House, it's game over for the Trump agenda. Right. Codifying all those executive orders, getting the agenda through. Who knows what kind of crap they're going to pull. It's urgent, all hands on deck. Get Epstein done with, you know, we got to, we got to take control of this ship here because it's very bad. But I want to welcome our first guest in right now. He's a nationally syndicated radio talk show host of the Truth with John Gordon. John, how's it going? Happy Thanksgiving.
E
Fantastic. David, Happy Thanksgiving to you. Pleasure to be with you.
A
Yes. Great to, great to have you. Great to meet you. And I know we've kind of run in similar circles over the years. I know you covered the primaries with Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania. I was there on election night on primary night. But we need to meet. So.
E
Yeah, it was a somber crowd.
A
Yeah. Yeah. I think there was a lot of issues, you know, going on. Right. You know, needed more money, a couple other. But let's talk about what's going on here. There's a scandal right. In the 20th congressional district covering parts of West Palm and others in Florida. Tell us about what's going on with FEMA.
E
Well, you've got this congresswoman named Sheila Shepherd McCormick, and she and her brother provided government services through female during COVID she actually was running a vaccine program for which they were paid millions of dollars. And interestingly, her company was overpaid $5 million. Well, she forgot to mention that to anyone. She pocketed the money and then put it into her campaign and sent it in different directions. And it just seems to me, Dave, and this is not a partisan statement, the truth will set you free. This is a repeated, consistent practice of the Democrats. I lost Stacey Abrams $2 billion, and she's got $90,000 in toaster ovens to show for it. I'm really concerned about this federal government, which, frankly, I say every Saturday on my show is absolutely rotten to its core. And I'm worried about our country legitimately.
A
Well, I don't think you're wrong about that. I feel like, you know, there is corruption on both sides. There's a stock market scandal going on in Congress now. There's a lot of issues. The spending is crazy. But you know, what's going on with the Democrats in Congress. I mean, look at this thing blowing up in Stacy Plaskett's face. Jeffries going after Epstein money after he was convicted. Right. Jasmine Crockett falsely accusing Lee Zeldin of taking donations from Jeff Epstein. But it wasn't Jeffrey Epstein. The.
E
It was Jeff Epstein. It was just not the same one that's dominating the news for the last six months or longer. Years, actually.
A
Tell us about what you see going on on Capitol Hill.
E
Well, I think the Democrats really got snookered. You know, Trump said, no, you remember that? It was in the Cabinet meeting. And he said, what? You're still talking about Epstein. Why are you continuing to talk about that lowlife loser? That was about two, maybe three months ago. And he then he remained quiet. He didn't say a word. The Dems started demanding that we release the Epstein files. So once he got them fully committed, where there was no turning back, he said, okay, we're going to pass a law in Congress and we'll release the Epstein files. Now we're finding out that Hakeem Jeffries took money from the Jeffrey Epstein and that there are a lot of Democrats that visited Epstein island, of course. No, none. Fewer than Bill Clinton or more than Bill Clinton, I think. Was it 20 some odd visits or 40? I don't know. A pretty significant number.
A
Maybe 28, maybe.
E
Yeah, I think that's right.
A
Yeah. Well, Bill Clinton's got this sordid past, right? Chasing women around. His state troopers used to find women. Look at Paula Jones and then Bobby and Williams. There's a story that Bill Clinton was jogging at like pre dawn hours and he met Bobby and Williams, a prostitute, he had sex with her in the bushes, you know, and then there's the Danny Williams thing with maybe the son of Bobby and Williams and he paid her off with fund to put the kid in Catholic school as a deal to keep her shut up. So I think the jury is concluded on Bill Clinton. So I don't know how much we're going to gain out of this. I just want it over with so we can focus on those midterms.
E
I will tell you what we have to gain out of it and I am very serious about this. I think as I said, our federal government is rotten to its core. I don't think the American people are really interested as voyeurs to see who's on the list. I don't even know what the list is going to prove. My fear is that people will be on the list who never went to Epstein island or rode on his airplane but just happened to be in these Rolodex. I mean I think you run a very bad risk of dragging good people down, ruining their marriages and their lives and their careers because their name just is on whoever, whatever is defined as the list. But I'll tell you why the American people are not letting this go. Because we smell a rat. And the rat is intelligence. The CIA, Assad, MI6, I don't know. But you know, I'm sick of it. I'm. Right now I'm sitting in Dallas, Texas to commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States, who up until that time was one of the most popularly elected presidents. And it is now pretty evident that our own government, Allen Dulles, Lyndon Johnson and J. Edgar Hoover conspired they call it. Oh, you're a conspiratorialist.
F
Yeah.
E
Well I wonder why. Because it was a mammoth conspiracy that involved the CIA, the mob and perhaps anti Castro figures. I'm not sure about the latter. But anyone who bothers to take the time and actually look, do the work. James Douglas, Roger Stone, David Talbot. Those are the Unspeakable by Douglass. The men the case, the men who killed Kennedy, the case against LBJ and the Devil's Triangle, those to me are the definitive works. If you read those three books and you draw any other conclusion than our own government was complicit, I don't know what it would be. And that is not the country that I want my children and grandchildren to be able to live in. I Mean, I want them to live in America. I just don't want them to live in that kind of an America.
A
No, I understand, and I get it. You know, one thing that really just boggles my mind is that, you know, there's a lot of great people in our intelligence services and there's like a big schism, I think, you know, going on. And it was like when they went from human intelligence to SAT to signals intelligence, took our field officers off the continents. Like when the embassies are blown up in Kenya and Tanzania of Al Qaeda, supposedly we didn't have any CIA operatives on the ground in Africa, you know, so the culture changed. Director of Intelligence and Operations. And there's a lot of battles. But how in the hell did John Brennan become the Director of the CIA? That really bothers me. I'll give you the last word here.
E
Well, there's so much sketchy stuff about John Brennan. He was the station chief in Saudi Arabia and actually signed the visas for half of the people, half of the terrorists that crashed the planes into the Twin Towers. And then he comes to the United. Back to the U.S. and, and he ends up director of the CIA. And now we see that he is. His fingerprints are all over Crossfire Hurricane. They lied to Congress. They lied to the American people. And they did it out of pure sheer greed and lust for power. It's got to stop. And it's you and me and the American people that have got to stop it. It's not our representative. It is we the people have to take a stand.
A
John Gordon, where can people follow you and listen to your radio show?

Amazon five Star Theater presents real customer reviews performed by a real serious improv podcaster. Tonight's Review Hot Sauce Eating this hot sauce is a fever dream. It's like acid turning my saliva into lava. I chug almond milk to cut down the heat and assume it's over. But at 1am the sauce strikes again. It woke me from a deep slumber and sent me to the toilet. I took a runner's pose in the bathroom. I thanked my landlords for the tile floor. The pain rustled my gut like an M16 bullet spiraling about until finally I woke up 30 minutes later then praying for the end, settled in calm, but no. It rips the sheets off your bed, hurls you around in a fury once more, double flushes the toilet, punches a hole in the wall, then leaves 5 stars Erin B thank you for listening to Amazon 5 Star Theater. Hopefully everybody gets into town safe. Thank God the shutdown's over. I don't think the Dems wanted that on their hands because there would have been a total meltdown. Imagine the airports are already terrible on the holidays. But I want to welcome right now to the show someone I have a lot of respect for. I always look forward to his insight on everything. Ken Abramowicz, a national security analyst and the author of the multi front Defending America from Political Islam, China, Russia, Pandemics and Racial Strife. Welcome Ken. How are you sir?
F
Pleasure to be with you.
A
Yeah. And now please give my regards to Rachel Ehrenfeld. I'm a big fan. We'll have her back.
F
So.
A
Okay. So much going on out there, right? Tell us about what's going on with CARE and this scandal and this funding scandal.
F
Well, America has a number of terror organizations or foreign. The official terminology is foreign terror organization or fto. And President Trump has gone after antifa and the drug cartels, but not the Muslim Brotherhood. And its various front organizations like CAIR and Marco Rubio publicly said we should declare Muslim Brotherhood a foreign terror organization. But then it stopped. So someone stopped it in the White House because it's a very controversial issue. And so right now, it hasn't been designated, by the way it is. The Muslim Brotherhood is designated as a terror organization in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Emirates, in the Muslim countries, but not in the Christian countries. It's one of the. It's laughable. Or if it weren't, so sad.
A
So my good friend Phil Haney, who I believe to this day was murdered and, you know, the Obama administration terminated him because he was exposed, exposing a lot. He was on to the San Bernardino attacks before they happened and could have strung it together and probably could have warned us. And I helped launch his book in the United States. See something, say nothing. And, you know, it's the same thing under Obama. You know, like care was in the White House like over 100 times with Obama, you know, and I know the Trump administration is the flip side of that. You know, they're 100% against Obama, you know, Islamic terror and stuff like that. But why can't they crack the code with CARE and just deem them terrorist group they are?
F
Well, what's extra confusing is that Islamic terror comes in two forms. It comes in physical terror, which is clear to everybody. A building blows up like 9, 11. Yeah, but there's also what I call cultural terror, and that's words. So I'll give you an example of a famous terror line. Christians, Jews and Hindus will convert to Islam and we're going to kill them. Now, in that example, that Islamic terror refrain, no one killed anybody. Just someone made a statement that Christians, Jews and Hindus should convert to Islam or should be killed. So that's cultural terror. And we don't know how to handle cultural terror. We know how to handle physical terror, but not cultural terror. And we're going to have to learn. So one of my arguments is we should. I know everyone loves free speech, but I think people should not have a freedom of speech to incite genocide. I think we have to draw the line when someone Incites genocide. We should regard that as the equivalent of physical terrorism and start putting people in jail or declaring them a foreign terror organization for their commitment to genocide.
A
So, Ken, all right, Jihadist killed one of my best friends. And everyone in my family has been affected by jihad. Right. 9, 11, other. And so I have my own opinions about Islam in America, but where do you draw the line? Because I don't like what I'm seeing in Dearborn. You know, these guys went into Dearborn and are protesting Islam, and they're going up in front of the city council saying. And in the street saying that the Islamic guys in the street, as aberrant as they may be acting, you know, these guys are going in the street, Americans, and saying they're chimping. Do they want any bananas? Every Muslim has to get out of the United States. Now, I know Zudi Jasser served as an officer in the Navy for 11 years in the USS El Paso. Saved lives. Was in. I think he was in theater, you know, And I had an Uber guy tell me he escaped Somalia. His father died fighting Farat Adid. Somali warlord who was cooperating with Al Shabaab and his family fled to Kenya, came to the United States, loves Trump. I was with him in an Uber on the way to the Charlie Kirk Memorial. I had another guy who served alongside Afghani and US Forces from Afghanistan, speaks five languages, an engineer. He was a cop in Kabul. And he, you know, and thousands of Muslims died alongside US Troops as interpreters and others in these conflicts. And they came to America for a better life. So they're not all radicals who want to blow up everybody. So how do you draw the line and how do we intelligently, you know, go after this problem? Because Sharia law cannot be in US Law. And I'm sorry to run on here. And I get it, we don't want Sharia law here. But what do you say to the 3 million Muslims, which will be 7 million Muslims, and outpace the Jews in the US in just like, 10, 15 years?
F
We see Islam is both a religion and a political movement.
A
Yeah.
F
And let's just pretend that it's 50% religion, 50% political movement. The religion is protected by our Constitution. So someone can say, I'm Muslim and I believe in Islam for myself and my family, and they have the right to do that. But when it becomes a political movement.
A
Yeah.
F
And they want to impose Islam on Christians, Jews, and Hindus, they have no right to do that. Right. By the way, Jews and Christians don't impose Judaism or Christianity on Other people, maybe in a thousand years ago they did, but not today. And so Islam has to reform itself. We don't know how do we reform it. One of the ways to do it is simply say political Islam. The politicization of Islam is illegal, just as, by the way, the politicization of Christianity or Judaism is illegal. Can you imagine some priest or pretend a Catholic priest saying, all Christians have to be Catholic, Protestants have to become Catholic or we're going to kill them right to jail? Okay. Or how about some Protestants saying, all Catholics have to become Protestants or we'll kill them right to jail? So things that are obvious for Christians and Jews should be made obvious to Muslims. And that's one way to draw a line in the sand. And Sharia law is the politicization of Islam. They're trying to impose Sharia law from the 7th century onto modern America. That should be illegal.
A
Yeah. Well, when, okay, when you open a mosque, it's not like a church. A mosque is like a claim. You're claiming land in a foreign nation to, you know, move towards restoring the caliphate. Say. Right. And I get. I get all of that. And I understand, Takia. You know, these guys are allowed a lie to get their agenda across. And. But. But again, you know, how do you. How do you separate it out? And, you know, we shouldn't be inciting and saying racist things about Islamic people in the streets, asking them if they want bananas. I mean, so they're hurting the MAGA movement. They're hurting, you know, like Trump trying to build these relations. The mayor of Hamitramck, I was in Michigan and heard him speak, you know, supported Trump. He's a Muslim for the election. And I'm not saying that, you know, again, these, you know, the jihadist killed one of my closest friends. So, you know, I'm just really concerned. How do you really have an intelligent argument instead of saying every Muslim has to be deported? And, you know, I mean, do you know any instances where the Sharia law is in place in the United States right now, codified?
F
Well, in Michigan, I hear stories, and there was an interview with one of the mayors there. I can't remember if it's the same one you're talking about or a different one, saying that Christians have less rights than Muslims, which is a tradition of Sharia law. Sharia law is really Islamic supremacy. And in America, as you well know, we believe in life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for 100% of the population. We don't believe in supremacy, anything, whether it's white supremacy, black supremacy, Islamic, Christian or Judaism, we're all created equal. And so I would hold every mayor, every elected official, whether they're Muslim or not Muslim, to the principle of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness for everybody. And if they don't run their city in the interest of 100% of their population, then I think we have to find some mechanism to get them out of power, even arrest them for treason if we have to. Because the law of the land is life, living, pursuit of habits for everybody. You have to protect everybody. I don't care who they are. They're human beings and they deserve protection according to American law.
A
Well, I just want some intelligent debate about it instead of being out in the street and burning Korans and stuff because it's a complicated issue issue. And there is Islamic terror. And I have family in the JTTF that's broken up dozens of attacks around the world. All right, thank you Ken for coming on. Where can our viewers follow you? And I'd love to talk about this further.
F
Sure. Well then go to my website. I've had it for about 10 years. Savethewest.com and there's a pop up menu they can sign up. It's complimentary. I write an article every two weeks. And the dark meat, man, it makes you go to sleep. All that L tryptophan. It's amazing. Better than what's that stuff that people take to go to sleep? I forgot. Anyway, thank you for watching Breaking Point. I want to get right to our next segment here. Mike Brest, he's the defense reporter at the Washington Examiner. Dems calling for an insurrection against Trump. Welcome to the show. Mike. How are you?
G
I'm good. Thank you for having me.
A
Could you imagine, like, why aren't these people, one, is Congress allowed to talk directly to the military without being in front of like an oversight committee? They're openly calling for an insurrection and to disobey orders. Being subordinate in a military. Am I seeing what I'm seeing? Right.
G
So I think it's important to break down what they were saying.
A
Yeah.
G
And as you said, who they were saying it to. And so there were six Democrats, all of whom have experience either in the military or the intelligence community, who came out earlier this week and put out a video where they warned service members not to follow illegal orders, but they didn't specify what those illegal orders could be or whether illegal orders in their opinion, have already been given to them. And so members of Congress do have the right, just like you and I have the right to put out videos on social media. And so from what I understand there, they aren't in particular legal jeopardy. However, there has been, as you, as you've seen and many other people have seen, a lot of blowback from the president and the White House and even Republican members of Congress who were critical that they would come out with such a alarming video without actually putting any details to it because it was such a vague video.
A
Sure. Are any Democrats speaking out against what they did? I thought maybe, or someone.
G
I haven't seen many Democrats speak out in opposition to what the lawmakers said, but I have seen Democrats come out against the president who, in response to this video, actually accused them of treason and sedition and said they should be tried and potentially killed for it.
A
Wow.
G
And so there has been. The president's response was so bombastic in his usual form that it actually spurred some of the Democrats to rally around this group of Democrats to further criticize the president's response.
A
Is Trump wrong? You know, I mean, I never heard anything like this in my life.
G
I think it's a very complex issue because we don't know exactly what they were referring to.
A
Right.
G
And so I'm sure so much out for interpretation.
A
Yeah, sure. Tell us about yourself, Mike, and tell us about your coverage. Are you in the Pentagon? What are you doing down in D.C.
G
So I cover the military, national security for the Examiner. I was a credentialed Pentagon reporter. I was one of the. I was among the group that did not sign the document. And so I'm still covering the Pentagon just from slightly further away. And we continue to tell the stories of service members and the decision makers at the Pentagon.
A
Okay, I may be down there in the first week of December. We'll see. But so many issues going on. Tell us about some other things. Anything concerning you, Anything. Theaters heating up Venezuela. What else is cooking?
G
So I think all eyes are right now on Venezuela because the US Continues to carry out these strikes on these drug vessels, but they haven't shown or released evidence to prove that there are drugs on these boats or identified who they've killed in these strikes. And then I think it should be noted, and I think it's very important to point out the fact that the current Navy buildup in the Western Hemisphere right now is the largest we've seen for decades. And so from the people I've spoken with, the US Military presence far exceeds what would be needed to carry out these drug strike or these boat strikes, these operations. And so between that belief and the President's own remarks about Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, it raises the question of whether these drone strikes on boats is the entirety of the mission or if there could be a larger goal in mind. The goal being the ouster of Nicolas Maduro.
A
Yeah, I know the Gerald Ford is down there right now. And listen for me, and I get the terror related thing. You know, I've been all over the country following the Trump campaign and, you know, people are dying in the streets of America. Manchester, New Hampshire, 10% of the population was overdosing every year. You know, so, you know, I get it, but for me, I'd rather interdiction and capture the boats and, you know, and then figure it out. From there. But I guess they're trying to send a message. But I'm more concerned about Colombia. They're producing more cocaine than ever. Is this going to bleed over into Colombia?
G
So I think you raise a very good point, which is about cocaine. Most of the drugs that come from Venezuela are cocaine that is produced in Colombia, as you mentioned. And so the drug that kills the most Americans every year is fentanyl, which actually comes from Mexico through China. And so China has what are called precursor chemicals, which they then ship to Mexican drug cartels, which then use those precursors and some technology that they have to effectively manufacture fentanyl that is then smuggled by land into the United States.
A
Yeah.
G
And so I believe the statistic was two years ago, about 50,000Americans died solely from fentanyl overdoses. So fentanyl is by far the most potent drug that is widely available on illicit markets. And it's not coming from Venezuela, where these strikes are happening, or off Venezuelan coasts. And so it shows that the administration has talked about carrying out strikes on these Mexican drug cartel fentanyl labs, but we haven't seen it yet. And I think a big reason we haven't to this point is because the Trump administration actually has a pretty good working relationship with the Mexican government. Whereas, alternatively, they view Nicolas Maduro as the head of the snake in Venezuela.
A
Sure. And. All right. Do you know anything about what's going on in Mexico? I know there was like an uprising. There was a big demonstration against the cartels. I believe in Mexico City. They're not happy with Sheinbaum's response. Claudia Sheinbaum, the president of Mexico saying it was illegal to go after the cartels or something. Can you shed any light on that?
F
So.
G
Mexican President Claudia Schambiden is in a very difficult position because she wants to keep the Trump administration keeping the good graces of the Trump administration by helping them try and reduce and ultimately eliminate fentanyl production and smuggling into the country. But it's not as easy as said as done, given that the cartels do play a role in this, obviously, and they are not interested in stopping their production of fentanyl. And so it goes back to the question of, is this a problem that Mexico can handle alone? And so far, it seems like the Trump administration's belief is no, and they are willing to help. But the question is, what does that help look like? And is the Trump administration willing to go further than Schambine will let that.
A
Do you see Sheinbaum cracking down at all? I know that police in Mexico arrested Carlo Manzo or arrested the guy who killed Carlos Manzo recently. Are they making any progress against the cartels?
G
I think they're trying their best. We've seen over the last couple months, I believe the number is 55 cartel members be extradited from Mexico to the United States that were arrested. The there has been reporting that the Mexicans have been cooperating on CIA surveillance overflights, which means they're allowing the CIA to carry out surveillance via the skies, which I think is a big deal considering it allows them additional ways to gather intelligence. And so those have been primary things that the Mexicans have done to help the US in stopping fentanyl production. And they have also surge service members to their side of the American Mexican border.
A
Yeah, well, I know some of the cartel groups are being, you know, either being killed or arrested down there, but probably not enough. All right, I'll give you the last word. We have 45 seconds. Where can people follow you and what do you want to say?
G
So I'm at the Washington Examiner. They can find my byline there. They can also find me on X at Mike Press DC And I think we live in a very wild time. And while the holidays are coming up, I have a feeling the conflicts that seem to be going on all over the world will not stop for them.
A
Yeah, it's a pretty incredible time in history here. You know, I know Trump's trying to create peace in different theaters now in Sudan and others. We'll see how effective that is. But I appreciate your coverage. I'll have you back. Okay. I'm really grateful you came on.
G
Thank you for having me.
A
Thanks, Mike. Have a great holiday with the family. Happy Thanksgiving.
G

Thank you for watching Breaking Point on Real America's Voice News. Download the Real America's Voice news app today. I want to get right into it and I want to bring our next guest on Eric Eggers, the VP of research at the Government Accountability Institute and the co host of the podcast the Drill Down. Eric, welcome. How are you?
D
Hey, Dave, it's great to be with you and your audience. How are you?
A
I'm great. I'm great. Happy Thanksgiving. Thank God the Dems caved on this shutdown because don't mess with mama's sweet potato pie on Thanksgiving. People need to get home, right?
D
Yeah, I think they got what they wanted. I think they held out just long enough to kind of tank the economy to try to help swing some elections for the governor's races in Virginia, New Jersey. And once that got done, they're happy to let everybody get back to work and reopen the government.
A
Yeah, I heard Schumer had a war room three months in advance of this. Preparing for this. Okay. So many issues to discuss, Right. I wanted to start by, you know, we were young parents. I was 23. I already had three kids. I bought a house at 27 for 185 grand. That house is worth 675 right now. And it's less than 30 years later. Incomes haven't improved that much. Inflation's outpaced incomes. Unemployment for college grads is about 6%. You know, coming out of college, the average homeowner is 59 now. Used to be 31 back in 1981. And first time buyers, it's 40 years old instead of 28 just four years ago. And rates were 2 and 3% five years ago. And they're 6, you know, 5 and 6 now. Hopefully they'll be in the Fours again. It's still not enough, right? Tell us about these figures. 50 year mortgages.
D
Yeah. So we did a podcast recently because we saw the idea of a 50 year mortgage caught my eye and I thought that, I mean, all due respect to President Trump, that's a terrible deal for the most consumers. It's a great deal for the banks because they make so much money. In fact, I think on a $350,000 house, a 50 year mortgage versus a 30 year mortgage will save the average person about $250 a month, but it's going to cost them hundreds of thousands more in interest. So I thought, well, they're clearly trying to tackle this affordability crisis. I don't think the 50 year mortgage is the right way to go about it. As you noted, every stat you just said is incredibly indicting of how, how less affordable a house is today. I think that it's now 5 to 1 in terms of what the annual wages are, you know, for the average person versus what it was three to one a bit ago. And what we got into is like, there are several forces kind of shaping this. One is the massive influx of immigration, and the other is environmental zoning and regulations, which can add hundreds of thousands of dollars to the average cost of a home. In San Francisco, Environmental regulations add $400,000 on average to the cost of a home. And then you have to kind of zoom back out and say, reminder. Like the World Economic Forum, they had an essay entitled you will own nothing and like it. And that was part of their whole, like, welcome to 2030 pledge. So, yeah, some real forces at work.
A
And we see it, we see downtown areas getting rehabbed only with rentals, you know, by railroad stations. So nobody's in. And that's happening big time on Long island here. And the American dream is fleeting for a lot of people. So I get Trump's attempt with the 50 year mortgage case. People are only in their homes for like 15 years, say, and they can move on. But $250 a month is nothing. You know, people need to save like 1500amonth in order to get into a home with the types of salaries that are being offered today. You come out of college, 30 years ago, you'd make 70 grand. Now you come out, you make 50, and it's 25, 30 years later. So I'm worried. And anyway, I'll give you the last word on that.
D
No, I think you're right to be worried. And I think not just you or me, the Trump administration's worried. That's why you see them floating this idea. It's why you see them going to try to put some pressure to lower interest rates again. I mean, they're talking about stimulus checks, they're talking about subsidies, direct, you know, try to lower the cost of insurance. They're even talking about, like collusion with the cattle ranchers. So they're doing everything they can think of to try to impact the cost. And, you know, how much everyday Americans pay on a D basis.
A
Yeah. And what they're leaving out of the equation is that local and state and county taxes are, you know, I'm paying 13,000 a year for a third of an acre here on Long Island. So every time I wake up, every month, I owe eleven hundred dollars, $1200 in taxes just for breathing, never mind my mortgage. Right. So that's a big problem. And Republicans are just as guilty in a lot of cases here on Long Island. The Republicans have put a curb on, you know, tax hikes for local government for the most part. But a lot of towns have and big part of the burden I wanted to get into the stock trading scandal. Tell us about it.
D
Well, as you saw, there's a bipartisan coalition of members of Congress are attempting to reintroduce something that we've been involved in here at the Government Accountability Institute, a ban on members of Congress from buying, selling and trading individual stocks. When Peter Schweitzer wrote the book Throw Them all out, which came out back in 2011, it actually led, ironically to this big push to pass something called the Stock Act. And then Congress a year later gutted it in the middle of the night. And so unfortunately, you know, they're back up to their old tricks. Nancy Pelosi is retiring, but Nancy Pelosi is no longer. I mean, she's been the most profitable in terms of stock trades, but she's not the most voluminous. People like Ro Khanna are, you know, buying and selling hundreds, if not thousands of stocks. And so stock volume trading this year is actually on pace to be a record high. So it seems wrong. I think most people recognize it's wrong. And when members of Congress are beating the market better than hedge fund managers, you know that they have access to inside information and they're making money off of it.
E
Wow.
A
Tell us about Arctic Frost. What's going on with the Senate?
D
Well, yeah, from the people who brought you self dealing and self enrichment in terms of people in public positions of power, I bring you unfortunately, you know, this Arctic Frost, our last podcast about this, this it's Kind of like a Coen Brothers movie. There are victims, but the victims aren't necessarily good guys. It's a scandal. I mean, it's the Biden administration's Watergate that they went and sought information on 10 senators and hundreds of Republican linked entities. And then in violation of law, they got this Judge Boasberg in D.C. to issue a gag order so that members of the Republican Senate didn't even know that they were having their phone records handed over, at least on behalf of Verizon. AT&T, to their credit, credit refused to do so. But then in the bill to reopen the government, Republicans slipped in a provision that allowed them to sue to be paid up to $500,000 for each instance of their phone records being handed over in violation of the law. And so, you know, it puts them in a weird position. You got people who are going without a paycheck for, I think 43 days. And in the bill, you heard Republicans always say, look, we want a clean cr, clean cr. The Democrats are the ones trying to add in, in extra stuff. And it was a really bad look when the Republican senators, and they don't even won't even say who it was, slipped in provision to allow them to potentially be paid by taxpayer money in the bill that was meant to reopen the government for everybody else.
A
Yeah, and timings, everything. It's a bad look. You're worried about the optics of that too, right?
D
Well, it's, it's a bad look. The optics are bad, but it's just wrong. Right. I mean, you had the Democrats are the ones who were insisting on getting health care for illegal immigrants. And that's one of the reasons why they said they were going to keep the government shut down. To your point about Chuck Schumer's war room, I think they had other incentives. I think they wanted to look like they were fighting against Donald Trump and this is obeyed to appeal to their base. But at the same time, Republicans, I thought, had the moral high ground on that issue. And so when something like this gets slipped in and you got members of the House saying, hey, I don't, I'm not sure. They definitely didn't tell us they were doing that. It does speak to something is wrong and it's not, not enhancing the brand, let's say, for Republicans in the Senate.
A
But other groups like tpusa, the rnc, conservative, you know, Meadows, the Partnership Institute.
D
Right.
A
Mark Meadows, Bannon, Powell, Giuliani, John Eastman, all victims of this, right?
D
Oh, absolutely. No, it's like it think about this, the scandal in Watergate was that they had reporting try to prove that Nixon was linked to an effort to spy on political opponents. There's no need to prove that the Biden administration was linked to this effort. It came from his own Department of Justice. So, you know, it's directly at his behest, that is insistence. So I think the fact that they were collecting information on political enemies as widespread, as you just noted, all those names, is a true scandal. And I think, unfortunately, the breadth and scope of it have yet to fully be appreciated and certainly has not been reported on as breathlessly by regular media outlets.
A
Well, listen, I love Peter Schweitzer. You guys are great there. Eric, sounds like you really got a handle on what's going on. Tell us about what the Government Accountability Institute does.
D
Well, we do a few things. Thank you, Dave. We do a podcast each week with Peter and myself. We do have several authors, have written books. I wrote a book on election integrity that actually came out in 2018. It's called fraud how the Left Plans to Steal the Next Election. We've written books about Gavin Newsom's corruption in California. Seamus Bruner, a colleague of mine, wrote a book called controligarchs. And Peter Schweitzer has a book coming out early next year which we think will drive a lot of news and hopefully shed some light on areas of the government that need significant reform.
A
Yeah, outside of, you know, I was in Palm beach last week. I'm down there, you know, we have studios down there and they're building $200 million houses like Chicklets everywhere. But outside of that, everyone I about talked talk to out there, I've dealt with thousands. I interviewed thousands of Americans around the country in the past six, seven years. Everyone can't make ends meet unless they have a cushy job with the government or a civil service job in a blue state. Right. But everyone else is sucking wind and they're worried about the retirement. They're supporting their parents, they're supporting their kids. And the Republicans need all hands on deck this fall, next fall, to win, to keep the House. I'm really worried it's gone. What do you say?
D
Well, it's funny. I actually live in Florida. We live in Tallahassee, the capital of the state of Florida. And so you talk about how much money you're paying in taxes in New York and Long Island. I would like to say I feel your pain, but I do not because we don't have a state income tax in Florida. And in fact, Ron DeSantis our governor is, I think, working to eliminate property tax on homesteaded properties in the state. And I think, because what they're doing is they're identifying all the wasteful spending on behalf of the local governments, which they use. You know, they get, they collect the property taxes and they do stuff that most people wouldn't agree with. So I agree with you. I think that's an example of a policy idea that shows leadership, but touching people where it matters in their pocketbook. You know, that's one of the reasons why I think Zoran Mamdani was successful in New York. He was attempting, he was offering to make their lives more affordable. And so I totally agree. I think that's one of the reasons why you see Donald Trump talking about this. They're going to continue to talk about it. And actually, you know, we've seen the drop in terms of support for Hispanics or by Hispanics for Trump. I think the Trump administration needs to do a better job of connecting dots. Say, listen, one of the reasons, one of the reasons why we're enforcing immigration policy is because we think that that's another thing that's going to help make things cheaper for you. So I think you can expect to hear more messaging about that.
A
Moving forward 100%. Eric Eggers, we have 15 seconds. Where can people follow you?
