Dr. Gina
And I'm Dr. Gina. Good morning, Everybody. I am Dr. G. We are live with you from the Palm Beaches. Let's bring in David Brody. He's in Washington, D.C. t. Bates in our Denver newsroom. Good morning to both of you.
David Brody
Good morning.
Dr. Gina
Happy Thursday.
Terrence
Top of the morning Thursday. Welcome back, David. It's good to see you, my friend.
Dr. Gina
It is.
David Brody
I'm glad to be back. I'm here. I'm alive.
Terrence
You are here. Dr. Gina I just want to start really quickly. So, you know, I was in a bad mood yesterday because it had snowed. And today it's going to be in the 70s. It's going to be like in the 70s again through the weekend. At one point maybe even getting to the 80s. This May weather here in Colorado is bonkers. Like, there's no reason it should be snowing first of all in May, but then the fact that literally two days after it snows, we're gonna be walking around in shorts and T shirts again. I can't. Like, you can have all of this, Dr. Jeannie. You can have this whole set. You can have this weather. You can take all of this. I will happily trade bigs with you and come to Florida where at least there's some consistency in the weather. I'm done. Thank you for listening. I appreciate Elsa, you're a co pay.
Dr. Gina
We used to have all of that in one day when I lived in Missouri. So there's that. So I understand.
David Brody
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Terrence
It's crazy. All right. Look, let's get to a story that I've been keeping my eye on. And, Dr. Gina, I suspect you'll have something to say about it. Howard Lutnick, of course, testified on the Epstein connections yesterday before Congress. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, saying that Lutnick corrected some of his previous statements. Here's James Coleman. Then we'll talk on the other side.
James Comer
The only thing that I'd seen that Lutnick did wrong was wasn't 100% truthful. On the brief visit to the island with his family, he corrected that in his opening statement.
Terrence
He wasn't 100% truthful. In my book, that means you lied like truthful. There's not. There's not levels of truthfulness. Either you're truthful or you're not. Not 100%. By the way, folks, you're not going to see the testimony because it wasn't video recorded. There will be a transcript. No word yet when that's going to be released. Dr. Gina, your thoughts on all of this? Do you think that we're really going to get answers? I've got so many questions, but I'm not. I'm really not trying to guide your answer here. Your thoughts. I'll make it more generic.
Dr. Gina
Well, I would love to see just the level of authenticity that we've come to expect in our body politic from Lutnick. I. You know that the Democrats are going to have a field day with this. I've been flipping around. You know, they watch him say, you know, it was 2005 was the last time he had contact with Epstein. It's not that there was one time. It's not that there were two times. I mean, Epstein gave $1 million to an event honoring him as late as, I believe, 2017. I may not have that date exactly right, but it's definitely post 2005. There were multiple contacts multiple times. And I just, you know, this is. This is something that is just going to rear its head for the midterms, and that's my concern. David.
David Brody
Yeah, look, in the 2005, Gina, what you're talking about, this is when he specifically Lutnick, specifically said, I'm going to sever ties with Jeffrey Epstein. And then lo and behold, in 2012, he's on the island having lunch with him and his family with Epstein. So what in the world's going on there? They were neighbors on the Upper east side of Manhattan. There's just a lot of there there, if you will. And you're right, Democrats will have a field day. But once again, you just wonder what's going to happen. Will Trump actually say with Lutnick, I don't think so. I don't. I don't think he's going to get rid of him.
Terrence
I really don't.
Dr. Gina
That they are very, very close. And I have to admit, I've seen him multiple times here. I've never, I don't think maybe said hi in passing after, you want to be careful what you say. But I really don't know him. I've never had any kind of extended conversation with him. But I get the impression watching them together, even in their casual time, that they are very, very close. I have a feeling President Trump and his loyalty. This is what I've always said. That is his Achilles. I love him. That is. It's not his tweets. It's not his, you know, memes of himself. It's none of that. His Achilles is his loyalty. That got him in trouble. Going way back with Omarosa. You'll remember that. Got him in trouble with Nikki Haley. Got him in trouble. It's a good character trait. It's a bad political trait. Anyway, pray about that one. And let's go to the Bible verse. All right? Psalm 23. 4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. I much prefer the King James version of that, but one of the very first ones I taught my kids. And I can still hear their little voices sing it with all their mispronunciations. You know how that is as we approach Mother's Day, that. That sisterhood of being mothers and those babies and how much we just love them forever and they'll never understand until they have their own. It's really a bond. A federal judge has unsealed a purported suicide note allegedly written by Jeffrey Epstein before a suspected suicide attempt in 2019. This was weeks before his death inside this Manhattan jail cell, which has become infamous. The handwritten, unsigned note was said to have been found by Epstein's former cellmate and included the phrase dead, time to say goodbye. The document was made public as part of legal proceedings connected to the cellmate's case. Epstein's death was ruled as suicide by the New York City medical examiner. Joining us now, Rav, White House correspondent Brian Glenn. Brian, okay, first of all, I feel like I've seen this letter before. Secondly, I want to give you a chance to talk about Epstein. Epstein. Wow, Gina, was that Freudian? Brian. Brian, help us make sense of this. And what is it Republicans are thinking as we're going into the midterms and we've got some of this stuff that just is not sitting well. Many of us, no matter how much we love Trump, we just don't want to see this destroy what many of us feel we've worked for for decades.
Brian Glenn
Yeah. Good morning. And before we get started, I want to make sure I show this. This is not my suicide note. I've signed my name on here. It's clearly my handwriting. So, look, I just want to enter that into the record here at the White House. Now, in terms of that, this is one of those facets of this story that I wish we would focus on the victims a little bit more. The victims have really not had a whole lot of. Joseph, we saw the first ladies point.
Dr. Gina
Thank you.
Brian Glenn
Yeah, I mean, the first lady stepped out in the North Portico and even called on Congress to give themselves an opportunity to tell their stories and perhaps name some of these alleged sex offenders. Now, in terms of that note, it has not been officially attached to Jeffrey Epstein, although his cellmate, by the way, is. Was in prison for quadruple murders. So that's not necessarily the person I'm going to be bunking up with. But he said he found the note in his book, apparently after a failed suicide attempt. Now, when they revived Epstein from that suicide. Failed suicide attempt, he said that he was, he was beat up by his roommate. He told prison authorities that he was actually beat up by his roommate. Then he walked that statement back and then claimed that he was not suicidal. He, he was in fear of being put in on suicidal watch. Then later, you know, he committed suicide. And that's to be determined, but or still be investigated. It's, it's all so very confusing. But why is this coming out now? I think since the seven. It's been seven years past. Since that. No, that was in July of 2017, just about seven years. And I think that the transparency of all of this needs to be in light of the public. And I think this note, as, as I can't officially say it came from Jeffrey Epstein. There have been some professionals, handwriting experts, that have perhaps linked it to his previous writings. And he's used some of the same phrases before. But then, you know, when did that note officially be found? There's just so many mysteries. But once again, Dr. Gene, I want to go back to really what we should be talking about. And I wish the most of the media did this, and I wish the Department of Justice and whoever Oversight hearings on the Hill let these victims have a chance to tell their story.
David Brody
Yeah, no doubt about that. And Brian, it's interesting with the New York Times, they put a big headline together, the Jeffrey Epstein letter released. And then quickly right after that, they put, yeah, we can't confirm this letter. So that's kind of interesting. All right, let's turn now to the redistricting battle that is going on in the country right now. You've got Georgia Governor Brian Kemp. This is where I insert here. He's a piece of work. He recently announced Georgia will not redraw its congressional maps for this year's midterm elections. So that's going to do away with any hopes for a special election that many Republicans. Brian, were hoping for. What are your thoughts about this?
Brian Glenn
You know, I've got mixed feelings on that, David. I understand Governor Kemp's reasoning for this, that we were already in some weeks away from early voting in some of these elections. So I get it that it's perhaps too late to get it for the midterms. Now in terms of 2028, we do have time to perhaps get that in place. Now, if you look at the state of Georgia and you maybe look at the country, I mean, President Trump won 87% of all counties in the U.S. that's massive, 87% of all counties. Now, there are some states that basically have no representation for Republicans. So perhaps that needs to be looked at. But David, I want to argue the premise that I want Republicans to win on policies, on action, on what they're delivering for the American people, not trying to read district maps to give us some mathematical advantage over Democrats. Rather, I want to win on policies and on substance, not on some judge is ruling somewhere where someone can disagree with it. I also want us to win on if we redo the census and count actual US Citizens living in this country, then you can form the congressional maps and then you can allocate representatives based upon actual citizens. So there was a bill last session that was to call for a new U.S. census to that would eventually lead to redistricting in a way and reallocation of representatives that would actually give you a good representation of U.S. citizens in this country. But to go back to Georgia, you know, too late now, I can kind of see Governor Kemp's logic on that. But 2028 certainly is not out of the question for redistricting those maps.
Dr. Gina
All right. Well, Brian Glenn, we always appreciate you. Thank you so much.
Brian Glenn
By the way, I want to say it again. I want to say it Again, though, this is not my suicide note. Okay. It's today on this Thursday morning Crispin crisp and clear. Which by the way. Oh, they've got the moving truck out of here. I was gonna show you some stuff that they're moving out of the West Wing. Back to you on this beautiful Thursday morning.
Dr. Gina
So he leaves us like that. They're moving stuff out of the West Wing and he just leaves us just like that. Not a suicide note. Brian Glenn. All right. Coming up, you guys, we're going to check out the hottest headlines from the RAP newsroom with Terrence Base. Also later, the White House reportedly close to an agreement with the Islamist regime in Iran. We're going to talk about what's in play there a little later. So stay with us for all of it.

President Trump continues to claim that Iran is ready to make a deal and end the current war with the United States and Israel. The US Central Command confirms that American fighter jets fired on an Iranian oil tanker on Wednesday as it tried to breach the US Blockade of Iran's ports. The administration maintains that the ceasefire between the US And Iran is still holding, though, despite that attack. Plus, President Trump says the two month long war could end soon.
Will Thiebow
Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and they won't. And they've agreed to that, among other things.
Terrence
The sooner a deal is reached, the sooner global oil and natural gas shipments can restart and that could bring down the current sky high gas prices that we are all paying. Well, there are two very different interpretations of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick's closed door testimony before members of the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday. Lutnick voluntarily came, voluntarily. Excuse me, came before the committee which is investigating Jeffrey Epstein and information released in the Epstein files. The commerce Secretary has been scrutinized recently after giving conflicting statements about his interaction with Epstein.
James Comer
I feel like that Lutnick's been very transparent. He came in voluntarily. I said before this thing started, the only thing that I had seen that Lutnick did wrong was wasn't 100% truthful on the brief visit to the island with his family. He corrected that in his opening statement. And, you know, we'll see, we'll continue our investigation. And if we find that there were any misstatements by Lutnick, it's a felony to lie to Congress and he'll be held accountable.
Nguyen
I feel very comfortable saying that Howard Lutnick is a pathological liar who is enabling the most egregious cover up in American history. I recommend that every single American, when this interview is released, read the document in full.
Terrence
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Colmer, whom you just heard from, says the interview was not video recorded because Letnick came in voluntarily. However, there will be a transcript of that testimony. And there's new evidence related to Jeffrey Epstein's alleged suicide attempt out this morning. Wednesday, a federal judge in New York released a note that Epstein's cellmate claims highlighted the child molester's first suicide attempt. The note has been sealed for years now. Epstein's former cellmate, who was a former police officer serving a life sentence for killing four people, claims that he found that note back in 2019 after Epstein was found on the floor of their cell with a bed sheet around his neck. That was about three weeks before Epstein's actual death. The purported suicide note reads in part, they investigated me for months, found nothing. It's a, it's a treat to be able to choose the time to say goodbye. What you want me to do, bust out crying? Questions remain about the veracity of the note and whether Epstein's act, whether Epstein, excuse me, actually wrote it. We'll, of course, continue to monitor all of these storylines. We're going to take a quick break now. Up next, you just heard President Trump say that Iran has agreed to give up its nukes. Could the war soon be coming to an end or is all of this talk just political misdirection? New details next here on American Sunrise.
David Brody
I don't know, maybe this is controversial. I love Toronto. Toronto, Canada, it's a great city, International city. Welcome back, everybody, to American Sunrise. Okay, folks, the White House may be closer than ever to a breakthrough with Iran as US And Iranian officials reportedly negotiate this one page memorandum aimed at ending the conflict and restarting nuclear talks. The proposed 14 point agreement would apparently include an Iranian pause on nuclear enrichment, the release of billions in frozen Iranian funds That's a problem. I ad lib that and a gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. The deal would also formally pause hostilities after weeks of escalating tensions and US Naval operations in the region. But officials caution that nothing's been finalized and hardliners in Iran are already calling parts of the proposal unrealistic. All right, well, join us now with analysis is former Army Ranger director for the American Military Project at the Claremont Institute. That would be Will Thiebow. Will, good morning. So this one page memorandum, I'm sorry, help me through this, because walk me back from the cliff here. The United States wants to do a moratorium on nuclear enrichment. So I'm a little confused here. And then we're going to be giving Iran money back or, excuse me, releasing frozen assets. I mean, isn't that what Obama did? Help me through this. I don't like what I'm hearing,
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
David.
Will Thiebow
I think the Trump administration is doing this in some important context. They've achieved historic degradation of the Iranian military. They've bitten the head off the snake in many ways, severely decapitating IRGC and even some political leadership. And so that's again, important context. And of course, the devil will be in the details. For example, what will be the verification measures for the moratorium on enrichment? If it's legitimate, if it includes American access to verify that there is, in fact, no enrichment happening. That's already a substantially better deal than Barack Obama's jcpoa. Candidly, I think I'll sleep better at night knowing that if the release of sanctioned funds are those funds that have been sanctioned, you know, under the Trump administration. Again, you know, this is, this is all within the art of the possible. We have to understand the alternative, too. It would be very painful to restart military action just given the amount of U.S. resources in the Middle east, three aircraft carriers, you know, perhaps over 10,000 U.S. ground troops. It is not insignificant to just say, oh, well, let's go back to war. Because although let's say we've achieved 90% degradation of the Iranian military and their state capacity, that next 10% will be even harder than the first 90%. In many ways, we're at the same spot as we were in June. The path to refocusing America's foreign policy and military resources on the Western Hemisphere and on the Pacific is either through a deal like perhaps what we're seeing the beginning of now, or it is through significant military escalation that, candidly, I don't think anyone really wants. And again, you know, we don't know what will come out in one page. David and I completely get your concern, but we have to understand the context in which this is happening and the alternatives to real diplomacy here.
Terrence
Well, I do have a bigger question, but before I get to that, where are you? I'm trying to make out what that building is there behind you.
Brian Glenn
Where are you?
Will Thiebow
It's a hockey rink where I have some playing hockey. But happy to talk to you guys regardless. I figured it's a nice.
Terrence
You don't have to go any further. You don't have to go any further. That's fair. I was wondering. I was like, is he at the Pentagon? That doesn't look like the Pentagon.
David Brody
Where is he? All right, cool.
Terrence
So now let me get to my actual question. Thank you for at least clearing that up for us. So look, the Washington Post is reporting that Iranian strikes on US Military bases may have been more severe than what we've been told in the past. The report actually identified damage to at least 228 structures or pieces of equipment across some 15 US sites. And that would include hangars, we're talking about radar systems, fuel depots, barracks, those sorts of things. If these reports are accurate, and there's a big if, what does this actually say about America's defensive preparedness, particularly in the Middle East?
Will Thiebow
I think this is reflective of a changing paradigm of modern warfare. First, you know what is true regardless, is that it is hard to play defense. It's especially hard to play defense against incoming drones and incoming missiles. But then you have to understand what I mean by modern warfare. That is the advent of attritable, affordable drones that can be launched en masse to at the very least distract and attrit anti drone defense capabilities, anti air defense capabilities. And that's a real threat. I don't necessarily trust the Washington Post outright, but I think the broader evidence that the Iranians were able to wage some significant damage on US Military infrastructure throughout the Middle east is true. And I think that is part of the reality with which we need to grapple. I don't think this is a sign that America was defeated or that we would be defeated in the future, but it is a sign that the costs of this kind of conflict are very, very real. And so it's a sign, I think, speaking of the Pentagon, to Secretary Hegseth, to the rest of the administration, that there really needs to be a hyperscale effort both to rebuild the US Defense industrial base, but also to onboard a whole host of new weapons systems that can compete in this New era of warfare. We can no longer shoot down $20,000 drones with $2 million interceptors. You know, America's technology is sophisticated and excellent, and that's why we have military dominance. But it's clear that we need to build capacity for what I think of a base layer of military capability that allows us to more affordably, at scale, deter, and then, on our own, defeat Iranian, in this case, military capabilities. But it's a lesson for what potential conflict, especially in the Pacific, could look like when you're going to see swarms of drones, hordes of missiles flying overhead at US Pacific infrastructure. And, you know, it's a new paradigm. Bombs are not dropped from, you know, big formations of bombers or fighter jets anymore. They come from really small, dislocated launch sites for, you know, desegregated command command nodes. So it's hard, and I think it's a sign that America needs to adapt.
Dr. Gina
Well, let's turn for just a moment to Cuba, Cuba's ambassador to the United States warning that Havana prepared to defend itself if tensions with the Trump administration continue to escalate. The comments come as the White House considers new sanctions, tougher enforcement actions against the Communist regime. Are these just diplomatic threats, or is the US Entering a more dangerous phase in this relationship with Cuba? And I want your opinion how much you think political timing plays into this.
Will Thiebow
I think it's relevant. And what I think you're seeing, though, is this news of a deal with Iran is a sign that the overarching trend and impetus of the Trump administration is to implement President Trump's national security strategy. The first priority in President Trump's national security strategy is to defend our homeland and preserve our interests in the Western Hemisphere. And that's where Cuba is, I think a unique and distinct foreign policy question from Iran and to your question, I believe President Trump. I think there's a real and earnest desire, whether it's to invade Cuba, I don't necessarily believe that, but to change the paradigm, to alter their status quo so that we don't live with an adversarial country 90 miles off the coast of Florida. To me, it's completely reasonable for the United States, as the dominant power in the Western Hemisphere, to force this kind of paradigm shift to bring the Cuban government to heel, not as some ideological purity test, but in an effort to preserve American interests. So I'm sure President Trump is interested in focusing on Cuba because it is part and parcel of this Dunro Doctrine, as it had been called, to establish American dominance in the Western Hemisphere. That is, I think, the consistent overarching strategy that America wants to maintain, certainly for the rest of his term and God willing, through the rest of the 21st century.
David Brody
Will Thiebaud, great insight this morning. Thanks so much for your time. Appreciate you as always.
Terrence
You skated through that interview, Will.
David Brody
That's right.
Will Thiebow
Thanks.
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
Y' all.
Will Thiebow
Have a good morning.
David Brody
All right.
Dr. Gina
You too.
David Brody
Have a good one. Very nice. Sea Bates. Coming up, could a common amino acid help slow Alzheimer's? New research suggesting a simple low cost supplement may reduce toxic plaque buildup in the brain.
Terrence
That's next.

This is not Bel Cheese, LA. No, no, no, no. This is New York, New York, at least according to MD. We'll just blame it all on MD. Welcome back to American Sunrise. I'm Dr. G. We are so happy you joined us today. It's time now for our health news. It is sponsored by the Wellness Company and under the microscope today, a simple low cost amino acid might offer new hope in the fight against Alzheimer's. Researchers in Japan say. Okay, it's arginine. That's how you say it, arginine. But it looks like Argentine. So just know that it's a common supplement. It's already considered safe. It's significantly reduced toxic protein buildup linked to Alzheimer's in animal studies. Scientists also found the treatment helped reduce brain inflammation and improve behavioral function. These findings are generating attention because current Alzheimer's treatments can be costly, limited in effectiveness and sometimes come with very serious side effects. Researchers say arginine could offer a safer, more affordable option if future human trials show similar results. There's also a lot of those peptides out there. If any of you are looking at these peptides, I'll tell you what, a lot of those claiming to help all sorts of brain and neurological issues. So take a look at some of that too. And don't forget to just eat clean. Right? David Brody. David Brody is a clean eater all the time. No seed oils, no red dyes, all his omega 3 fatty acids all the time. All right, there's a groundbreaking. I'm totally making that up. There's a groundbreaking new study that shows that there is a safe and inexpensive potential cancer treatment. It's a drug many of us already know about, Ivermectin. This new study shows that individuals who take it along with menbendazole, these are both known from COVID saw remarkable results in their battles with cancer. This incredibly promising result has many Americans wondering where they can get us made ivermectin and menbendazole as a combination. And that, my friends, is where the wellness company comes in. You see and hear from their doctors all the time on this network. You know their products are the gold standard when it comes to keeping you safe and healthy. The wellness company is making 100% American made ivermectin menbendasol, available to RAV viewers at an incredibly affordable price point. Say no to big pharma's greed and no to big pharma's poisons. And say yes to a company you can trust to bring you safe, affordable American treatments. If you or someone you love is interested in trying ivermectin and Bendazole, then I urge you, go to TWC Health Rav today. Give it an order. That's TWC Health Rav. Use the promo code RAVITLI save you 10%. David Brody. Eating clean all the time. That's you Carnivore diet, I believe. No seed oils, no red dye, no food dyes at all. Right. No fillers, no carbs, just. Yeah, good. Good to know it. Good to know.
David Brody
And here's the thing. On the Carnivore diet, I've done it for a while and I kind of got off it for a little bit when I was on the carnivore diet. Felt the best I've ever felt.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, my husband's been doing it. He's done it for a long time now. The guy has the same weight he had in high school. Looks amazing. And he didn't before that. Let me say that it's not like he's always had no problems. He does work out, but, you know, he looks better than he's ever looked and he attributes it all to the carnivore diet. So there you go.
David Brody
Well, Gina, let's talk a little bit about another health related matter, which is that cruise ship, that Dutch cruise ship. What in the world? I mean, my understanding now, the latest information is that There were about 40 passengers actually got off the cruise ship in St. Helena before contact tracing. So they're out there about doing their. Whatever they're doing. What are you hearing about this? What's your sense of what's going on here?
Dr. Gina
Yeah, I was very concerned about this from the very beginning, David, because you say words like, oh, don't you know, you see the news media all saying, don't worry, it's all all right. And the doctors saying, oh, you know, well, we need to develop a vaccine. That's our answer. Well, guess what? It turns out there already is a vaccine in testing for this hantavirus. Then you hear them say, oh, don't worry, this is only animal to human. Where have we heard this before? Oh, don't worry, it's all happening in a foreign country. Where have we heard this before? So I'm just listening to this, having major ptsd, right. And thinking. So started digging a little deeper. Well, it turns out, David, that this was actually, they are admitting now, most likely communicated human to human, not rat to human. The human beings that first got on in Argentina, am I saying, is that right? No. Yeah. Anyway, Chile and I believe it's Argentina are the two countries who have had human to human strains of this. And the first people that got on and were diagnosed with this got on in one of those countries with that strain, strain. Then it turns out that I believe eight more people, eight total people at this point on the cruise ship have been diagnosed with it. That means it most likely spread human. Human. Human to human. The who went on board and looked for rats or excrement of rats, found nothing, said it was clean as a whistle. So that tells you this was likely communicated human to human. Now it is human to human in close quarters. Like they're saying, like marriages, things like that. I doubt if eight people were married. Although we do some weird things in our culture today. I doubt if eight people were married aboard this vessel. But these are some scary things we're hearing, David.
David Brody
Yeah, scary and legitimate in the sense of all of the questions that go through your Mind. And not just your mind. So many others around the country after Covid, no doubt about it. So we'll keep, we'll monitor it.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, nobody wants to go on the record about this yet, but I'm telling you, I'm talking to scientists right now, immunologists, others. And the things they're telling me are that let's pay attention, let's demand transparency from our officials. That's where I stand. All right, good. Thanks, David. All right, Mother's Day. Because gray skin is the best accessory. It's true. It's true. People don't want to talk about it. But you know what? When you feel good outside, it's easy to radiate all that's good inside. And that's the Most important part coming up. Independent journalist Nick Shirley claims he was targeted by Cuban intelligence while reporting from Havana. We have the DC Details after the break.
Nick Shirley
Don't go anywhere. Welcome back to American Sunrise. It's time to stay awake, not woke. And today we are discussing Nick Shirley. The independent journalist is speaking out after what he describes as a terrifying encounter with Cuban intelligence, recording an insurance video from a Havana hotel room and warning, quote, they're literally trying to kidnap me. Shirley says Cuban authorities seized his cameras and professional equipment the moment he landed, part of a trip he took to document the humanitarian collapse inside the communist run nation. Here's part of what he had to say. Take a look.
We're about a mile and a half away from the US Embassy right now, which could be our possible way out of this situation by going to the embassy. However, that does not stop Cubans from stopping us before we get to the embassy. It's about a mile and a half away. So we have to make it to the embassy. And right now there's three, three Cuban, essentially Cuban spies down at the bottom of our hotel right now. And we have to figure out how we're going to escape. We're trying to get a hold of the embassy right now and see if we can stay there overnight and then buy our. Then buy our airplane ticket last minute so that doesn't pull off any red flags to the Cuban government before we arrive to the airport. This is not a joke. When we talk about communism and we talk about the effects of communism, something that you often don't look at is the freedom of speech or the freedom of press to just simply be able to give your opinion out in the public and have it be, have it be then. All right. Welcome back to American Sunrise. It's time now for our moment of faith. It is brought to us by Lee Greenwood and the God bless the USA Bible. In Focus Today, the 75th annual National Day of Prayer, observed today, May 7. Uniting Americans under the 2026 theme, Glorify God among the nations seeking him in all generations. This is drawn from the words of King David in 1st Chronicles 16. This day will culminate in a prayer service at Statuary hall inside the US Capitol, an event expected to include speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Carry on. A tradition first called for by evangelist Billy Graham in 1952, actually attended that just a few years ago. Let's welcome in American Sunrise evangelist, pastor and founder of Revival today, Jonathan Shuttlesworth. Jonathan, good morning. Boy. We need it right now. Why does it feel like, you know, it almost felt like there was a sort of revival in our country in particular after Charlie. It feels like there is such a cold division right now. We need this.
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
Yes, it's a great time to pray, and it's great. I was at the one last year. You were at the one, what, two years ago or three years ago?
Dr. Gina
No, probably more like five years ago, the first term.
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
It's amazing because I know it wasn't really honored and then now they're back doing it. It's phenomenal that they're doing that today. I'm very happy.
Dr. Gina
Yeah. And so what is the action we take? Because we don't want it to be a day of prayer. Christians understand that this country is better, this world is better when we invite Jesus into the center of that. So how can we make this day last beyond today
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
to pray every day? The Bible says pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the spirit. Prayer in Christianity is different than other religions. You're not chanting or reciting something. You're talking to a living God. And also, something happens when you pray. It's like you step over the veil into heaven. And prayer doesn't just change things. Prayer changes the person who prays. And so you're asking God for help. And like you quoted, God said, if you'll ask me for help. Not, I might help you, I will help you.
Dr. Gina
Yeah, absolutely. And I think it's so important, too, to go back to the fundamentals. You know, Jim Mosley, Dr. Jim Moseley and I, we have him on the show all the time, are doing a book, doing a series of books for children on this note, because the fundamentals seem to be so lost. You know, the Ten Commandments. Right. I mean, simple things. That it's, you know, those of us who've been Christians for a long time, we like to understand the doctrine and the history and all that. And that is all really important. I don't want to minimalize that in any way, but it is important to especially teach this next generation some of the simple things, because I feel like some of that's lost.
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
Yes, absolutely. This sounds. I play video games online and on my online hockey team There was a 13 year old. I said, are you going to church in the morning? He said, yeah. I said, what's the name of your church? He said, I don't know. I said, how do you not know? He went, it's boring. I mean, that kid goes to church. He told me every week he doesn't even know the name of his church or the name of his pastor. So when you talked about Charlie Kirk getting shot and a revival, I was praying that what wouldn't happen is that people would go back to church and remember why they haven't been going to church. That it's boring. And I pray, you know, where our revival needs to start among pastors, that they get on fire for God, that when people come back to church, they hear something. And maybe that's what we should pray on the National Day of Prayer. That God would put a passion back in the hearts of pastors to preach the word and be a part of this revival that needs to happen in America.
Dr. Gina
I love that. That's a great place to leave it. Jonathan Shuttlesworth, thank you so much for being with us. Happy National Day of Prayer to you.
Jonathan Shuttlesworth
Great seeing you, Doctor.
Dr. Gina
All right, be sure to tune in to revival today, this Sunday morning, 9:00am right here on RAV. Back with the second hour of American Sunrise. You can watch that, by the way, while you're getting ready for church. How perfect is that? Two minutes, lights. Stay with us.

The panel maintains a lively, conversational style—mixing breaking news, personal anecdotes, strong opinions, humor, and faith-centered encouragement. The tone is forthright, skeptical of mainstream narratives, and explicitly geared toward a conservative audience rooting in American exceptionalism and Judeo-Christian values.
