Donald Trump
We have now a strong border. A year and a half ago, we had millions of people pouring through. Now we have nobody coming in through our border and we have a strong country. We have a country that's respected. We're going to keep it that way. And we're not going to let people kill 300,000 people a year with drugs.
Host/Announcer
Mr. President, one more follow up question.
Interviewer/Reporter
Mr. President, of fraud that you've been pointing out, talking about in Minnesota specifically.
Host/Announcer
There have been some reports resurfacing and.
Interviewer/Reporter
Circulating even by your own administration, alleging Ilhan Omar's marriage to her brother. And this would be a fraudulent situation.
Host/Announcer
If there in fact is found to be fraud in a situation like that. Would you like to see her denaturalized or others who have similarly committed?
Donald Trump
Well, I think she's very bad for our country. All she does is complain, complain, complain. She comes out of a country where they have no government, they have no military, they have no police, they got no nothing. They don't have a country and they run around killing each other. And then she comes over here, she tells the United States of America how it should be run. We don't want to hear from her. I don't want to hear from her. I don't want to speak for Emma, but I don't think Emma particularly wants to hear. But don't say it because I don't want to get you in trouble, okay? Just be nice and easy, all right? I'll do it for you. That part I'll do. But I just want to say that there's nothing worse than a person that comes in and does nothing but bitch and comes from a place where she shouldn't be telling us what to do. She shouldn't be telling us. And everybody agrees with me. And what's happening in Minnesota with Somalia, where billions of dollars is being stolen, right, Like. Like candy from a baby. We're not going to let that go on. And it's too great a state to have that happening. And guys like Tom Emmer and others, Pete Stauber, guys like them, they're going to stop it and they're going to be given the authority to stop it because this country is not going to put up with it.
Commercial Narrator
You talked about land strikes happening soon.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
Is there anything at this point that can prevent that? And is the objective if you make that decision?
Donald Trump
It's not only land strikes on Venezuela, it's land strikes on horrible people that are bringing in drugs and killing our people. You know, if we were in a war. And we lost 300,000 people in a year because that's what the real number is. It's not 100. You know, you keep hearing 100. And it's a lot worse than that because the families are devastated when they lose their child. If we were in a war, we lost two or 300,000, but I think it's more than 300,000. That's a war. That's like a war that would be unparalleled. Nobody's ever seen anything like that. And that's what's happening. So it doesn't necessarily happen to be in Venezuela. It's people that are bringing in drugs to our country are targets.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Mr. President, at the end of this year, those extended Obamacare subsidies expire.
Commercial Narrator
What's your message to those 24 million.
Donald Trump
Americans who will see their insurance premiums go up? Well, make it sound so bad because, you know, obviously you're a, you know, sycophant for Democrats. You're obviously a provider of bad news for Republicans. Let me just say something. The Republicans, I think I can speak for Tom and most other people. I think what most Republicans want to see is what I want to see. And I leave it to them. And hopefully they're going to put great legislation on this desk right here. We want to see all of the money that's been squandered and given to insurance companies because Obamacare is horrible. Health insurance, it's far too expensive, and it always has been. But what it really is is a way of making insurance companies rich. We want the money not to be paid at all to insurance companies. You know, insurance companies have gone up 1700% over a short period, meaning the stock 1700% over a short period of time. And they've taken in hundreds of billions and even trillions of dollars. And we want the money to go to the people. They'll go in the form of an insurance account, healthcare account, or any other form that we can create. We have a lot of different forms. We want to give the money to the people and let the people buy their own great health care. And they'll save a lot of money and it will be great. Now, the problem we have is that the Republicans are not at all controlled by the insurance companies. But you know who is? The Democrats. The Democrats have received hundreds of millions of dollars. They're totally controlled by the insurance companies. So we might not get too many of the votes, but I actually think we'd get some Democrat votes. So I don't know how you feel about it. Tom. But everybody wants to see this happen. Everybody. You know, I put it out and all of a sudden we've taken over in a positive way. The Republicans have taken over healthcare in a positive way. I want to see the billions of dollars go to the people, not to the insurance companies. And I want to see the people go out and buy themselves great healthcare, much better healthcare at very little cost. That's what I want. And it's so simple.
Interviewer/Reporter
A follow up on that. Many Congressional Republicans have said they won't vote for an Obamacare extension deal if it includes funding for abortion. Would you assure those Republicans that you will not propose?
Donald Trump
Well, we're going to look into it. We're going to look into a lot of things. That's one of many factors. But what we do want to see is we want to see the money go to the people, not to the insurance. Wait, wait, wait. You have to be nice and easy. Nice and easy. She's very aggressive. Okay, please.
Interviewer/Reporter
Thanks.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Mr. President, can you tell us how.
Donald Trump
This free economic zone would work in.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
The Donbas in land that the Russians took by force?
Donald Trump
I don't want to do that now. It's a very complex situation, but it would work and a lot of people want to see it work. And we're going to. All I want to do is I want to stop the death of 25,000 people a month. Go ahead.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Thank you, Mr. President.
Host/Announcer
There were new Epstein photos released today showing you and also Bill Clinton.
Donald Trump
Clinton.
Host/Announcer
Steve Bannon. What were your reaction to those new.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Photos that were released?
Donald Trump
Well, I haven't seen it, but I mean, everybody knew this man. He was all over Palm Beach. He has photos with everybody. I mean, almost there are hundreds and hundreds of people that have photos with him. So that's no big deal. I know nothing about it.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
How big a role do you want to personally play in the decision by.
Commercial Narrator
The Fed on interest rates?
Donald Trump
Well, you know, I've made a lot of money I've been very successful at. And I think my role should be at least that of recommending. They don't have to follow what I say, but we're going to be choosing a new Fed person in the pretty near future. But they went out, you know, they went out with 71 different people, all economists. And Trump I was 71. And of the 71 people, I got it right. And one other person, I think from the Wharton School of Finance, my alma mater, got it right. The there were two people that got it right out of. But I was one of them. So I think I Certainly should have a role in talking to whoever the head of the Fed is or the Fed. I don't think, you know, the old days, that used to happen. Nowadays, it's sort of they think it shouldn't happen. But I've done great. I've made a lot of money. I've been very successful. I think my voice should be heard. But I'm not going to make the decision based on that. I'll be making a decision over the next few weeks. Thank you all very much.
Host/Announcer
Thank you.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
All right, folks, welcome back. You've been watching President Trump. He began by signing a bill honoring or an executive order honoring that great Miracle on ice team, the 1980s Olympic team that won the Olympics in New York against a more powerful Soviet. So it's really remarkable to have seen that group still around and kicking and celebrating one of the great moments as America is about to enter into a great era of sports. Amanda, we've got the FIFA World cup coming up next year, and then in 2020, your hometown of Los Angeles gets the Olympics. A lot of big things happening on that front. I saw today Congress is going to hold a hearing to make sure that human trafficking, which often happens around these international events, doesn't happen on our soil. That's a good thing. I heard some headlines here. President Trump going to name a Fed chairman soon. He told the Wall Street Journal he's got two candidates that are his favorite. One of them is National Economic Council adviser Kevin Hassett, who's been on this show. And then he also said, I know what I want to do on health care. I want to make it more affordable, and I want to give any subsidies that the government does give directly to the people, not to insurance companies. That's some pretty big headlines.
Interviewer/Reporter
Absolutely. You know, President Trump is, is the king of business, especially compared to other presidents. And he said, you know, I want the American people to be able to purchase their insurance. They don't want it to have to be something that is mandated by the government. You got to create competition across state lines. That's something else that he has advocated for. But going back to this 1980 team, I unfortunately wasn't born yet, but I've seen a lot of documentaries about it. And as I understand it, the Soviets had not lost an Olympic Games since 1967.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
At that point, this team was epic. I mean, it was. It was the ultimate David and Goliath story. I remember watching it. I was coming home from a Catholic grammar school basketball game with my dad, who was my coach, and we came down. And we watched that last game and nobody could imagine. And that was a very young Al Michaels, who's now a legendary sportscaster. He called the greatest game I've ever saw called on tv. It was a moment of great pride from everybody. Jim Craig, the goalie, you know, who was this character out of central casting, out of Boston to Al Michaels really made his name that day and he's never stopped being a great sportscaster ever since. So great to see the president honor that kind of queue up the next two years of great celebration in American sports. There was something happened this morning that really caught my attention. I was so proud of it all the families, the angel families who lost people to crimes on the border were assembled around Arizona. Congressman Abe Homaday, a great friend of the show, and he introduced legislation to create a memorial to honor every American lost to the border crimes under Joe Biden. We were lucky to grab Arizona Congressman Abe Hamade on the phone a little while ago just as president was talking. Have a listen and have a watch of what we talked about. He had some big ideas and this day was a really great day. Have a watch. Joining us now, the congressman who stood alongside those families today and put forth an idea that I think is going to catch fire all across the United States, building a memorial for the families who lost loved ones to the border crimes of the Biden years. Joining us now, the man who has that legislation introduced in Congress now, Congressman Abe Homendy from the great state of Arizona. Congressman, great to have you on the show.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Great to be with you, John.
Donald Trump
All right.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
I want to ask a little bit about what inspired this. I know you've met many victims in your own state and all across this country. You've been a champion of border security. But this is a big idea that got a very warm welcome today.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
It was huge, John, and it was so emotional, too, to hear a story after story of these angel moms, these angel dads talking about their loved ones being tragically taken away from them from illegal immigrants. And, you know, primarily due to Joe Biden's border policy that we witnessed and had to suffer the last four years. And, you know, it was at this time especially, John, with Christmas, you know, their Christmas table is empty this year. You know, they're missing a piece of their heart. And they're so brave. They're so brave to come to Washington, Washington, D.C. through all their suffering, holding their photos of their loved ones or daughters, their sons, and to show the world that their life mattered and that these politicians, you know, unfortunately Didn't. Didn't put America first. So I said, I said it in my speech that this border memorial for the victim, the victims of illegal immigrants, the more the memorial for it, in many ways, it's not just a way to honor the victims, but. But in many ways, it's to shame the politicians who allowed the situation, the crisis, the invasion to happen under our watch. So hopefully, it's gonna be memorialized forever. And everybody on stage today, we were all giving President Trump a big shout out for securing our border so quickly in a matter of weeks. All it took was courage and conviction, but we still need justice. I mean, some of these families, some of them lost their children just this year, just a few months ago. And some of them had the criminals who did it, these illegal aliens who committed these crimes, they were released from prison, and then they were caught later after another murder. I mean, what we are witnessing is so tragic, and it should have happened in the most powerful country on earth. And hopefully this memorial can be a big reminder for those in Washington, D.C. that, you know, the rest of the country matters. It's not just this D.C. bubble.
Interviewer/Reporter
Congressman, I think that it should be bipartisan recognizing these folks, memorializing them, recognizing the tragedy of illegal immigration and fentanyl flooding into our country. I know you have eight co sponsors, but they are all Republicans. It doesn't seem like Democrats are too keen on the idea.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
No, no. And in fact, remember, anytime we talked about the border being an invasion a few years ago, Amanda, they would. You know, they called me a white supremacist for calling it invasion. I remember. It's quick. It's amazing how quickly things have shifted. But the Democrats, they don't want to acknowledge their own failures because they know that it was intentional, what was happening at the southern border. They used that as a campaign issue to try to ram in $100 billion legislation to try to propose a fix for it. That didn't matter. Ultimately, President Trump was able to secure it with our troops, with our ice, our brave ice, and Border Patrol agents. So I hope everybody that spoke today, they all said, it's not a Democrat or Republican issue. Doesn't matter what race you are. It doesn't matter what religion you are. It doesn't matter what state you come from. Everybody was represented there. It's because these victims, the illegal immigrants, they had no regard for their. For their political ideology. They were just there to kill. They were there with the fentanyl that they brought in that damages so many people's lives. So I hope it's a bipartisan bill. I hope it becomes one. But unfortunately, with today's climate, the Democrats are controlled by the far left radicals who would rather go and impede ice. They'd rather go and impede ice's ability to actually start deporting the worst criminals that are illegal, who shouldn't even be in our country. That's what the Democrats are focused on. Instead, what they should be focused on is signing on to my legislation that honors these victims with a permanent memorial here in Washington D.C. that again doesn't cost the taxpayers any money. It's going to be entirely privately funded, just like President Trump's ballroom. But you see that these Democrats, they always try to latch on to a non story or try to ignore something like this.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Yeah, that's what they do. Meanwhile, while President Trump has tightened that border up, record low crossings, record low crime in America right now, record low mass shootings, we have judges that still want to let illegal aliens loose. When you see Brigo Garcia being ordered released by a judge who knows that this man is illegally in the country, who he knows there's a record of membership in gangs, who knows there's some alleged domestic issues. What does Congress think and what can Congress do about these judges who doesn't want to enforce border laws?
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Absolutely. I mean, this is why I've been, I've signed on to as many impeachment of these judges as possible, John. Knowing that unfortunately, I'm not sure there's a political will at this moment currently to actually go through with it with the exception of possibly Judge Boasberg. But we have to hold these judges accountable because so many of them have been captured by the Soros wing, the far leftists of the Democrat Party where they are more committed to their ideology than to the Constitution. So they disregarded American lives. And that's why this press conference is so important. How could they say to the people who, to these families who've had to suffer so much that this illegal immigrant life and where they're at matters more than their victims. So, you know, hearing their stories, John, I hope that judges were paying attention. I hope they're watching because right now the judiciary is losing its legitimacy very quickly. If they are not serving the interests of the American people, then we know what they're serving. They're serving in a Marxist ideology that has no place in America. So we have to get tough. You know, President Trump, he's right about the blue slips. The Senate needs to wake up to the fact that these Democrats are going to get rid of blue slips. The moment they take power, they're going to get rid of the filibuster. We have to understand the Democrats have already showed us their hand and we have to do as much as we can for the American people right now when, you know, luckily, we have the entire control of the republic, the government right now with House, the Senate and the White House. So we have to capitalize on this moment and deliver results for the American people. But, John, what really hit home to me with the victims, the family of the victims today was they were talking about how the media focuses on these illegal immigrants and these ICE protests where some Democrat lawmakers go at how the media makes it such a big story about, you know, illegal. They call the illegal immigrant a Maryland man, for instance, and not actually call him an illegal alien. And yet they don't talk about the victims, right, where they die from fentanyl or they get killed with a car crash going 80 miles an hour, the illegal alien slamming in. And some of these victims, some of these families, they had to witness their own sons and daughters dead or stabbed or they discovered them dead. I mean, think about how they have to relive that moment for the rest of their lives. And they are so brave to come to Congress to advocate not just for their own loved ones, but for the future to make sure this doesn't happen again. They were so brave and I'm so proud of them for coming.
Interviewer/Reporter
Congressman, once upon a time at the peak of the opioid crisis, you could find a lot of Democrats who were out there lamenting the fact that this was happening to a Americans, that Americans were dying because of opioids, fentanyl, things like that. Fast forward to now 2025 and this so called controversy, the double tap controversy, and President Trump blowing up these Venezuelan drug boats that carried enough fentanyl to kill the entire country many times over. At this point, it makes it kind of seem like their sympathy and sadness over the opioid crisis was disingenuous because now they're demonizing this and administration for doing this to the terrorists who are carrying these drugs that killed these people to begin with.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Absolutely. They always do this. Amanda, I don't remember the controversy. You know, I don't remember it being as big of a controversy when Barack Obama was literally killing American citizens overseas with drone strikes. And yet here they are, you know, what are they talking about with this double tap? You know, we've already, the Pentagon has been completely transparent with this. President Trump has been transparent with this. And most Americans look at the Polling, most Americans support President Trump's decisive actions to secure our Western hemisphere because we know that these drug ships are coming in from the south, going up into the northern, into the north and through the southern border. So luckily, the American people haven't bought into the media lies right now. And you're right, when I was a prosecutor, Amanda, you know, didn't matter. Drugs were. Was a common thing. It doesn't matter if you're a Democrat or Republican. We're all united to combat the rise of the drugs in our communities. Sadly, it seems like the Democrats have completely gone away with that, where they're defending cartel members, they're defending the worst of the worst, and people who shouldn't even be in our country. But again, we are fighting a Marxist ideology, and we always have to call it out for what it is, because this is a foreign concept to our country. And we have to understand that there's foreign actors that play with this, because a lot of this fentanyl is coming in from the communist Chinese, being shipped across the Pacific and done in a way to harm the next generation of Americans. So this is why this is a border. Security is national security. And we can't ever allow what happened under Biden to continue.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
So we just got about a minute left. I want to ask about this, because you always have new ideas and new legislation. You're proposing that we add a dual citizenship question to the census. A very popular idea. Tell us what's behind it, John.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
I think it was common sense. You know, I started researching this idea. Other countries, like our neighbors to the north, Canada, they ask on their census if you are a dual citizen. So the fact that we don't have accurate numbers of whether an American holds multiple passports is a shame. I just want to get more data on this to see what we can do. You know, I haven't even gone. This is a. This is. This is the start of it all. I want to make sure that we, any American, has an allegiance to the United States of America. I don't want to see dual allegiances. So this would be a good way for us to understand how serious this problem is, because estimates vary from 40 million to 70 million Americans may have dual citizens, dual citizenship, or even more. So. Adding this to a census, I think, is a common sense piece of legislation.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
That's an important data point, Sarah. Somewhere in the future, a president may look out. He might be under pressure to open up the borders like Joe Biden didn't. He'll look out that back window of the South Portico and see that memorial and remember that the last time someone did it, there were dire consequences to the American people. And that's going to be because you got this done. Great honor to have you on the show today. Thank you for joining us.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Thank you, John. Thank you, Amanda.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Yeah. Great to have you on as always. What a great conversation. What a great event this morning, folks. Go check out the video footage. It was very, very powerful. All right. We're going to take a quick commercial break. When we come back, our Africa trade special got cut a little short yesterday due to President Trump. But we're going to expand a little bit more on it in the next block. It's right after this break. Hey, America. They then take out loans against your record or even sell your property. And you're not going to know about it until you get a foreclosure or collection notice in the mail. And that's not going to be a good moment. That's why I partnered with Home Title Lock so you can protect your equity. Interviewer/Reporter
Welcome back everybody to just the news and no noise. Let's continue our conversation from last night about African trade and if you missed it, we were discussing the African Growth and Opportunity act and why it's so important. One of the major reasons, of course, the critical minerals in Africa. 30% of the world's critical minerals are there. So joining us to discuss this is former assistant secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the Department of Energy. He's now principal with Simmons Energy and Environmental Strategies. Daniel Simmons. Daniel, thanks for being with us tonight.
Commercial Narrator
Well, thanks for having me.
Interviewer/Reporter
You know, we saw during COVID that when an adversarial nation has control over something we need, it puts us in a room really, really bad spot. We saw it, of course, with PPE during COVID with China. And so we don't want to be in a tricky situation again. And the fact is is that energy security is national security. So we really need to make sure we monopolize Africa in the best way possible so that we can have control of those critical minerals or at least partner with those African nations, right?
Commercial Narrator
Oh, certainly. I mean, the issue of critical minerals is, is one where China dominates. I mean, China is the problem when it comes to critical minerals. Not only do they have like a high share of critical mineral production, but they really just corner the market in, in some cases in terms of critical mineral processing. I mean, you might have something like cobalt, where 70% of the world's cobalt is produced in the, the Democratic Republic of the, of the Congo, but then China processes over 80% of that, that cobalt. Or you have things such as graphite, where China, China produces essentially all the world's battery grade graphite. Like, it is a, it is a real problem. And now if China were a good trading partner, none of this would be a problem. But just this year, China had, you know, imposed imposed export quotas on certain critical minerals to, you know, they were mad at President Trump. They, they forbade the export of other critical minerals. And this is just, this is just what China has done for a number of years. They have cornered the market. They're going to use that market power that they have for a number of critical minerals to put not only the United States, but other countries around the world in a, in a tight spot in order to retain their power.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
So there's been a great push by your old agency, the partner of energy, to make sure that America and its allies produce more. It isn't just the extraction. You also have to refine them and get them ready for the uses that we use in military. Otherwise, tell us where we are in that process and how America can catch up because China does so much not only of the mining of them, but also the production of them.
Commercial Narrator
Yeah, and that's, I mean, we're in the early days. I mean, unfortunately, it is early days in the first Trump administration. I served all four years of the first Trump administration and it was critical minerals was recognized as a problem. One of the nice things is that when I went up to Congress and testified before Congress on critical minerals, Republicans and Democrats were both aligned saying, hey, this is really a problem. I mean, this is a, this is a serious issue. Which was kind of a surprise because on other issues that I worked on, on energy issues, the Democrats were really mad at me and they would be really contentious. And then I go talk about critical minerals and they're like, yes, this is a problem. What are we going to do? And that's the, that's the challenge is the, what are we going to do? And there is a real disagreement between Republicans and Democrats. And one of the good things. And here I'll praise President Biden for getting a bunch of money through the, the infrastructure investment and jobs act and the Inflation Reduction act that he never spent. And so now there are billions and billions of dollars that the Department of Energy can now spend on critical minerals, thanks to Joe Biden, which is just kind of funny in my, in my opinion, but it is, it is reality. And so they are working on doing that. Also the one big beautiful bill that passed earlier this year that also had additional authorities for the Department of Energy to, to, you know, to drive critical minerals forward. Because, as you noted, John, this is. This is not just an issue of production, but it also has to be the processing. It's to take those raw materials and turn them into more valuable products that we can actually use. China, unfortunately, does a good job of that, and we need to do a better job. And the Department of Energy is leading out in trying to drive that forward with some, you know, with some. With some key investments. And they are. They're definitely looking to make more so that we get out of these early days, but into intermediate days where we can do a better job really fighting back against Chinese influence in critical minerals.
Interviewer/Reporter
Daniel, there are dozens of critical minerals that we need, but as you were saying, you know, a lot of cobalt in Democratic Republic of Congo and drc, you've got a lot of manganese in places like Ghana. If we are able to secure these really tight, tight trade relationships, partnerships with critical minerals with those nations in Africa, does it nullify the need for us to get any critical minerals from China, or will there still be minerals that we need from China and other countries?
Commercial Narrator
There will likely still be minerals, but like, it is much that we might need to get from China, but the real point is, is that one, we need to start somewhere. And we have not been, we have not done a good job for a number of years at, like, reducing that dependence on China. And the dependence on China has been increasing. And so anything we can do to, to. To reduce that dependence, I think is a. I think is a good thing. In my perfect world, what we would have is what has happened with the hydraulic fracturing revolution, with oil and gas production where we had, you know, 15 years ago, it looked like we were going to need to be importing a lot of natural gas. At the time, OPEC had greater influence on the oil market. But because the US Dramatically increased our oil production, now OPEC really can't influence the market because the United States is the world's leader in oil production. And that same type of principle can happen with critical minerals. The challenge being is that the United States has not been very quick to market at all. In fact, we've been decades, we're like decades long, moving to market with new, with new mines. And that's what we need in many cases is new mines to produce more things. And so if we can partner with places like Africa that have a bunch of these critical minerals, we need to be moving forward to blunt China's influence and to really, you know, to reduce their scope of influence. I mean, that's, that is the key, is that the fewer minerals where they are, you know, producing an outsized amount, the better. But we need to start even if, even if there are some things where China continues to, and they likely will continue to be, you know, to corner the market for a number of years, but it's important to reduce their leverage.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
So I want to ask quickly about Agoa. It has been in place for almost 30 years now. It expires now there's a new chance to tinker with it and then set it back in motion. What are some of the benefits beyond critical minerals, which is the obvious national security and the keeping China at bay at that? What are some of the other benefits that America could reap in a new trade deal with the African continent?
Commercial Narrator
Well, I mean, I think first and foremost, it's not only that we would be getting things. It is an outlet for America produced, you know, for things that America produces. And the more, you know, the more that we can export to Africa. And Africa is really develop. I mean, they are, they are still a developing. They're still developing countries. They are, as they grow their economies, that is, that is like, increasingly those are increasing markets for us. And one of the real challenges there is that China has also seen Africa as an area for real growth. And I think in the most recent year, I heard today, as we were talking with Agoa people, that the Chinese increased their exports to Africa by about 12% in the last year. And that's, I mean, that is a lot. And so it is American jobs, and it's American jobs that we get by x42 Africa. And as they become more developed, that is more opportunity for us to export to Africa makes total sense.
Interviewer/Reporter
Daniel, as we were talking with some of our experts last night, we were talking about Agoa and the very stringent criteria for participating sub Saharan nations. We were discussing the issue of South Africa and whether they should be excluded from this. If at some point in the future they are excluded, what is their value to us in, in terms of critical minerals? Can we do without?
Commercial Narrator
Sure, sure. I mean, like, in terms of, like, South Africa itself is it hasn't been. Doesn't have all of the, the. I mean, there is some mining that is fine, but it is not like they are a necessarily critical minerals powerhouse. So that is, that. That's not the, that's not the biggest issue. You know, there are other places, I mean, places like the DRC that really dominates the world in terms of cobalt production. There are other places to produce cobalt. We could be producing more cobalt, for example, here in the United States. But it has become so difficult to mine and so difficult to open new mines. And then one of the things that China has done over time is drop the price of, you know, when they, when they see competitors coming along in an area where, where they have dominated, they have lowered the price to, to make the finances not work for people that are operating in a market economy until they go away, and then they can, you know, regain their influence over time again by, you know, jacking up the price and, and continuing to be the, really the monopolist. And so, you know, there was a, you know, Africa is huge, and there is a huge opportunity. And, you know, what, what. What we are looking for is to, to do a better job partnering with, you know, with African countries, to partner with the United States to, you know, to grow those trade relationships. You know, from our perspective, that will increase our national security, it'll increase our energy security, and it will create jobs for Americans. And, and, you know, for that matter, one of the things that has helped by having the United States is the world leader in oil production by it is it is created, it has lowered global oil prices, and that is good for the entire world. And so when we and Africa work together and create more security, create more economic security, I mean, that is good for the world and good for the world's economy, but it is certainly good for Americans and American companies exporting to Africa and for those jobs here at home.
Interviewer/Reporter
Daniel, before we let you go, I feel like it's not very often that you hear about a nation or a region who produces critical minerals, where they're mined also being the place where they are refined and processed and shipped out. Number one, why is that? And number two, is there something about Africa that precludes them from being able to, able to be a processor and ship them out. Can we not just get it all done there?
Commercial Narrator
The problem has been China like that is that, that, that. That's a, That's a big deal. As in China has, you know, they have, they have aggressively worked for decades at being that processor, and as such, they have made it difficult. I mean one is a lot of the end uses are in China for these, you know, for these minerals in terms of like, you know, for things we're making steel and other electronics. So being having that production close to the end use has been helpful for China. But also they have bad environmental, you know, they, they don't care that much about the environment and they don't need to worry about labor, about labor standards. And so it is easier to do those things in China. And they have really out competed the rest of the world until they've gotten to this place where they are now, where they use their market power to make it difficult to have new entrants. So you know, it is difficult for, for African companies or countries to get in that game when they're competing against in many cases really, the, the government of China because they see it as strategically important. And so, you know, if you have a country in or a company in Africa that is really competing against the Chinese Communist Party, you see how that's going to work. And the Chinese have seen this as strategically important and so they're not going to give that up without a fight. And that's why it's important for the US to partner with these companies to bring the might of the US government and the might of the American economy to bear to, you know, to push back on the Chinese.
Interviewer/Reporter
Now we got a lot of catching up to do. It sounds like former Assistant Secretary for the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the Department of Energy now principal with Simmons Energy and Environmental Strategies. Great to see you. Thanks so much for being with us. Daniel. Well, thanks for having me and absolutely. All right everybody. Next we're going to discuss one of the fastest growing crimes in America and what you can do to protect yourself.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Hey folks, you know, every day on just the News, we dig deep to bring you facts. No spin, no nonsense. And I've come to really appreciate organizations that operate the same way. That's why I'm proud to talk about amac, the association of Mature American Citizens. AMAC is more than a membership. Interviewer/Reporter
Welcome back everybody. Modern technology has made quite a lot of things easier in our lives, but there are some negatives too, of course. For example, one of America's fastest growing crimes is a lot easier to commit. Now I am of course talking about title fraud. Joining us now to discuss more about that, an Emmy and multi award winning news anchor and investigative reporter who has recently been spending his time researching the growing crime of home title theft. John or John. Thanks to, thanks, thanks to you for being with us. Great to have you.
Donald Trump
Great.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
Thank you very much Amanda. Great to be with you and John today. So let's get on with it.
Interviewer/Reporter
All right. It's great to have you here. It's. I, I hate that this is happening and it seems like it's happening more and more. It looks like it was three homes targeted in a queen's neighborhood and it looks like there are going to be varying levels of restitution. Because one of the scariest things in about this crime is if you're not protected and it is actually carried out, then there's a whole long legal process and you may not even get your house back in the end.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
You're right, Amanda. I mean, this one has many facets to it. How this started out. And this, this was in the Queens, Jamaica Plains area, which is, you know, kind of the entryway to Long island and just east of Manhattan. And there are just a lot of, you know, family suburban homes there, and a guy that actually stole someone's identity. So now we have identity theft. He stole this guy's identity, and then he was able to use that to get a driver's license in New York. And then with the driver's license, he was able to transfer titles to a number of properties in Queens and Jamaica Plains and so on. Some he leveraged for loans, and two of them he actually sold to a third party, which makes this extremely complex because it's not just identity theft. You have title or deed theft, and then you have other parties that are involved. They're also, you know, a part of this scam, and it gets very complex and very difficult to prosecute.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Yeah, we had a case at Just the News, just reported back in November, right around Thanksgiving, to Mexican nationals illegally selling people's homes through title fraud in, I think it was in the California area. It seems like you've got transnational criminals, you've got people on the inside of the industry, people on the outside, old fashioned con men, AI artists. The number of people that are engaging in this fraud are growing and their tactics are growing. Like Queen showed us, right?
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
There are criminal enterprises all over the world that do this, John, but individuals can do it. It's so easy. It's such an easy crime to do. Basically, all you have to do is get the proper paperwork and you can do it online with the Internet and with AI, you can get everything that you need to be able to, quote, unquote, prove that you are the owner of the property. Then you can transfer the deed, the title into your name or someone else's name or some enterprise's name, and then leverage the property. It didn't have to be a home. It can be a, you know, piece of open land. It can be grandma's house, a cabin in the woods. It's a free for all right now, John and Amanda. And you just need to protect yourself from this. It's. It's. You're so susceptible. Any kind of A piece of property that you own is up for grabs.
Interviewer/Reporter
Yeah, John, I love being able to press a button on my phone and to tell it to set an alarm for me or to make an appointment for me. For me, it's great. But it is not great when it makes it easier to commit crimes. And technology, let's face it, has really accelerated this. Crime hasn't really has.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
And so, you know, everybody's got a, like a ring camera on their home or they've got some sort of protection on their credit card. But most people, Amanda, don't think about protecting the title or the deed to your property. And you need to have a system to be able to monitor it and alert you if there's something funny going on and then to restore it into your good name. Because once it's gone, it's gone. And in most states, Amanda and John, it's considered to be a civil crime, which means you have to go through the court system and hire an attorney. And it's very expensive. Some states now consider it to be criminal, but it's happening very slowly. And in the meantime, you know, your place is up for grabs and you have to protect yourself.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Yeah, I think people here. Well, some of these people got arrested. That's great. It is good that they got arrested, but that doesn't mean that the person who had their equity stolen is going to have an easy path to getting their money back. A lot of these defendants don't have the cash. Right. They've already spent it or moved it to whoever their transnational criminal organization is. So the process of going through the civil courts, even when someone's arrested by the cops, is long and arduous.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
Yeah, because it's the civil courts. I mean, if they were arrested and charged with a criminal crime, then there would be immediate recompense for.
Donald Trump
For.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
For that particular deed. But that isn't the case in most places. You need a system to be able to protect yourself. I work with a company, it's called Home Title Lock, and you can go on their website, hometitlelock.com and what they do, John and Amanda, is they will, for a very small fee, much smaller than, say, you know, protecting your credit card or your id, you know, with the ID companies that, you know, that will protect the theft of your id, they will monitor your title or titles if you have a number of properties, and then they will alert you if something's going on, and then they will work with you to restore it, which, if it goes through the civil system, it could take years And a lot of money to be able to get your property back and as the rightful owner. And, and for many people it's, it's just a horrible thing because you think about it, your properties are generally going to be the bulk of your estate. And you know, so that's far more worth than, you know, somebody's taking $10,000 of your credit card or stealing jewelry or whatever. You know, this is your home and you need to protect it.
Interviewer/Reporter
So John, what is the process of signing up for home title lock or even just exploring it?
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
Well, just go on their website, Amanda. It's hometown lock.com and there are many stories on there. They'll guide you through it. They actually, I think you folks have a special code, jtn which I believe stands for just the news. And you, you can, you can try it out for free and they'll do a scan on your property and it's just a great deal. It's not expensive. It's peace of mind. Everybody should have it. And I have it, my family has it. And it's just one less thing you have to think about. Home title lock down.
Donald Trump
That's right.
Interviewer/Reporter
John, Summer, we love having you here, love having your side of this, this major crime. Thanks so much for being here.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
Thank you, Amanda. Thanks John.

Welcome back, everybody. I just looked at my watch, John, and I realized that we are officially less than two weeks away from Christmas.
Donald Trump
Yeah.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Better get shopping.
Interviewer/Reporter
It is a. I know. I've still got plenty of. Do you still have shopping to do?
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Of course I do. It's way too early to panic.
Interviewer/Reporter
All right, so I had a clip pulled for our audience tonight from the Oval Office earlier today where President Trump was honoring that team, the Miracle on Ice team. And I didn't know this. 13 of the 20 were Minnesotans, and I think that's pretty darn cool. But this is. This is a very. This is a very interesting moment.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
President Bill Baker, I'm from Minnesota.
Donald Trump
I know that right now that doesn't ring very well. Hopefully we can get that turned around. Do we have Somalians in there? Any Somalians on the team? I don't think so. Ilya and Omar, the pride we felt in 1980 was incredible, and we are starting to feel that again. Thanks to your leadership.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Thank you very much.
Donald Trump
Well, you know, Minnesota is a great place, and this is a great leader right here. Here for Minnesota. He loves it. Not happy with what's going on up there.
Interviewer/Reporter
That was Elise Stefanik. Elise Stefanika, New Yorker. And then, of course, that was Tom Emmer there with the team. But John, A. Really, really.
Donald Trump
And.
Interviewer/Reporter
And Tom Emmer, by the way, it almost seemed like he didn't want to laugh, but he couldn't help himself. He could not help himself. And there was that other moment. We didn't have time to clip it, but Micah Ruzzioni expressing his. His. Well, first, he gave President Trump a replica hat like the one that they wore. But expressing his gratitude to this president for recognizing that team and what it meant for them.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
What a great moment. We're heading into that 250th anniversary and moments like this American greatness is just stunning. And I just think it's. It's just so cool to watch that team get recognized one more time. They're in the later stages of their life now, but, man, that was a team. And then they gave us the Gretzky era of hockey, which gave us the Ovechkin era of hockey.
Interviewer/Reporter
And Ovechkin is blowing it out of the water now.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
The old man is still playing great. 40 going 41. He's up in the league leaders and scoring. But hockey is a great sport. It's a quintessentially North American sport. And back in those days, other than Minnesota, there weren't a lot of places you could play hockey. So nowadays, a lot more schools have it.
Interviewer/Reporter
I'll be doing a little bit of ice skating, maybe a little bit of casual hockey in a few weeks now when I'm up in Canada. So they've got the. What is it called? The Assiniboine River, I believe, that runs through Winnipeg. And you can skate on the river.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
It's frozen solid, right?
Interviewer/Reporter
Frozen solid. All right, John, speaking of New York, a not so fun story. You might have heard about this Herald Square stabbing at the Macy's there. They've revealed who it was. It was a California mother and an LA Sheriff's Department employee. They were. Were stabbed multiple times there. And this just goes back to. It's actually something that I wrote about for the weekend. The issue of crime in New York with sanctuary status. New York City has had sanctuary status since 89. Long, long time. A lot of people don't realize that, but, you know, with. With the. Yep. With all of the issues surrounding crime in that city. But for someone coming from California, I hate to say it, but you're kind of used to it in the Golden State.
Congressman Abe Hamadeh
Yeah.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
The fact that we are desensitized to it shows how big a problem it is. We've got to stop this being the norm. You shouldn't be able to walk down the street and have to fear, look over your shoulder, go shopping during the holiday season, get stabbed in the face. I mean, just. It's horrific, and it is so unavoidable. Now we're on track for the lowest number of mass shootings. We're on track for the lowest number of murders in a very long time. Those are big wins. We're on the track for lowest number of illegal immigrants crossing. So things are getting better, and that's starting to drain down or trickle down to the American public. But so many people are still getting released who should be behind bars. And we just, it's just so simple. By the way, this is a losing issue for the Democratic Party. Republicans don't talk enough about it.
John (News Anchor/Investigative Reporter)
No.
Interviewer/Reporter
And as we started out the show talking about with Congress and Hamidi, Democrats are sympathizing with these as some of them are referring to them as fishermen on these boats that are bringing in drugs.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
Murder in cold blood on your street is now a tragic accident to Democrats. I mean, these guys are, they've lost their minds. Shameful.
Interviewer/Reporter
Now to tie in that topic, so Rasmussen took a poll. Should Congress formally declare war on drug smugglers? Again, this is a formal declaration. 47% said yay, 42% said no, and 11% not sure.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
More Americans than not.
Interviewer/Reporter
Yep, Yep.
Amanda (Co-host/Interviewer)
There you go.
Interviewer/Reporter
All right, everybody. Well, we appreciate you being with us. Oh yeah, you better get on it. You get on it, you, because next weekend is blown. You can't really do next weekend because it's too busy. So you better get it on this week. All right. All right, everybody. Thanks so much for being with us tonight. We'll be back here on Monday at 6pm Eastern. Have a wonderful weekend. We'll see you then.
