How do you think learning an instrument
Bobby Bones
helps kids with confidence?
Music Education Nonprofit Representative
Learning an instrument allows them to discover a little bit further of who they are and be comfortable with it and then share a little bit about that with others. And if it's done in an environment that is celebrating and championing them, then that confidence can only go up.

And of course, you got to adopt the warrior ethos that's placing the mission first, never accepting defeat and never quitting. So to get started, just text America to 989-898. You get a free info kit. That's America to 989-898 and get your free info kit and get started today. All right, let's get into some of these issues that we are following here. Can't say enough about our military. What a tremendous military success we've had in Iran with the Israelis. Over 15,000 targets have been hit. Their Air Force is decimated. Their navy is decimated. It seems like each day more and more tremendous military success. Their leadership has been decimated. So the question is, what is next? Which is why I have the poll question up there@crewair.net so what do you think is going to be happening next year? President Trump always weighing different decisions, looking at different options. He has been saying over the past few days that this could be coming to an end soon. So that is encouraging if you ask me. So, I mean, militarily, we've done it all. The question is, what happens next? And you know, when the president made that announcement on that first day, he said after the bombing is done, the people of Iran need to come out of their houses and take over their country. Their best chance in a generation. And I think that is very true. Now, of course, after we go after terrorists and tyrants, terrorists are going to come after us. And that happened here in this country. So since the war started, four attacks. One in Austin, one in New York City. And then over the past few days, two of them, one in Virginia at Old Dominion University where you had courageous ROTC students that took out a, a terrorist who had been imprisoned and let out of prison. And then another terror related event at a synagogue in Michigan, the largest in the area, where you had a guy drive a vehicle through the synagogue, fire took place. Their security on top of it took quick action. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured there yet. One of the guards, it was driven into, but he's going to make a full recovery. So we're just on heightened alert here in this country. Now. Another after effect, of course, of the war. Gas prices. We've had a surge in gas prices. Oil prices ended the week at a $3 a barrel. It was roughly, you know, $40 less or so before the war started. President Trump saying short term pain for long term gain. So this is going to be the question, how long will it take to stabilize gas prices? How long will it take to open up the Strait of Hormuz? The military looking at military escorts there for these tankers. Iran has caused problems there by attacking tankers and we're going to be hopefully securing that area very soon. Let's talk about another hotspot, Cuba. Due to the pressure of this administration, Cuba has released 51 political prisoners. Now would they be releasing any prisoners other than the Trump administration? No. So now we've got Venezuela as a country more cooperative. And now could that happen in Cuba? We shall see. Negotiations are going on. They supposedly have 1200 political prisoners there. 51 have been released. It's just a start. A lot more needs to be done. Really tragic situation yesterday in Dallas. A security guard who had been working with Jasmine Crockett killed in a police standoff. This guy had been operating an illegal business. He had been impersonating a licensed officer. He had been assigning officers to off duty detail and he wound up getting in a confrontation with police and getting killed. This was one of the individuals that Jasmine Crockett had on her security team. And wow, just an amazing story out of the great state of Texas yesterday. We had a Judge Boseberg, liberal, Trump hating judge, throw out all the subpoenas that had been issued in the investigation into Jerome Powell and the billion dollar luxurious buildings for the Federal Reserve. Janine Pierro, and we'll share a clip a little bit later, was furious about what this judge did and kudos to Judge Deneen. A real fighter. Epstein present guard is going to be testifying before congressional committee, the Oversight committee very soon. This is needed because this prison guard was surfing the Internet right before Epstein was found, trying to find out about the Epstein case. Mysterious deposits in her account. I mean, come on. I think more and more Americans are realizing that this was not a suicide. So we'll hopefully have some disclosure very soon. Of course, also next week we're going to have the Save America act voted on in the Senate. John Thune has been particularly uncooperative. This guy is a disaster and hasn't come forward with any leadership to get this thing through. We still have the filibuster. So it doesn't look good for the Save America act in the Senate. Democrats are now saying when they take over Congress, get ready for investigations into the Trump administration into companies and colleges that worked with President Trump. So that's why the stakes of this midterm is so high. They're going to go after impeachment investigations and they're promising it now. And also this week we heard from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, a federal agency that they want to regulate prediction markets which are simply gambling operations that are regulated by the state. And these contracts offered by the prediction markets need to be regulated just as other gambling operations are by state entities. State control is better at the local level. We don't want a commodities Futures Trading Commission which regulates commodities, regulating what's going on in these prediction markets. I think that would be utterly ridiculous. So the battle is on between states and this federal agency over these prediction markets. And I say it's better to keep it closer to home at the state level as other sports betting is regulated. All right, we got a lot to get to as we roll on some great guests. Other topics we're going to be dealing with. Let's take care of some business right here on Ringside. We'll be right back.

would love to have more consistent programming during the weekend. Our Rock Block program is dependent on funding venues that are available to host band based programming. We would love to extend the camp to a second consecutive week so that kids can go a little bit deeper into what they've created during the first week camp. And we'd love to expand our programming to offer more industry related skills like audio, lighting, production, recording so that kids can be on a track to see where what they may create with an instrument can lead, but also to welcome those that may not want to be on stage but lack the opportunity at school to have an entry point into music.

This episode is brought to you by Spreaker, the platform responsible for a rapidly spreading condition known as podcast brain. Symptoms include buying microphones you don't need, explaining RSS feeds to confused relatives, and saying things like, sorry, I can't talk right now, I'm editing audio. If this sounds familiar, you're probably already a podcaster. The good news is Spreaker makes the whole process simple. You record your show, upload it once, and Spreaker distributes it everywhere. People listen. Apple podcasts, Spotify, and about a dozen apps your cousin swears are the next big thing. Even better, Spreaker helps you monetize your show with ads, meaning your podcast might someday pay for, well, more microphones. Our first guest today is someone serving his country. We thank him for his service in the United States Air Force Reserve is a colonel. He's also a physician. He's also an award winning best selling author nominated for Pulitzer Prize in nonfiction in 2025. Dr. Josh McConkey is with us. And Colonel, how are you sir? Welcome. Doing good.
Dr. Josh McConkey
Thank you very much, Jeff.
Jeff Cruier
Thanks for having us. So we're 15 days in to this war in Iran. I know we were talking off air about some of your colleagues are there serving right now in Iran in the area. How would you assess how things are going so far?
Dr. Josh McConkey
Well, you know, tactically it's been brilliant. It's very pinpoint strategic attacks. They've accomplished every goal that they've wanted to accomplish with very minimal casualties. Unfortunately, we have seen over the past two days with the loss of that KC135 that, you know, war, in war things happen. I served in Iraq in 2007 and you know, that loss of six members, we've lost 13 service members overall. And you know, my heart and prayers goes out to their family.
Jeff Cruier
How did that happen, Colonel?
Dr. Josh McConkey
So it's still under investigation. So there's certainly no Official reports, but, you know, some reports on the ground, when they're operating at this type of operational tempo, things are incredibly fast paced. There are reports of just not getting a whole lot of rest and sleep with constant bombardment and activity there with sirens going off. And it looks as if there may have been a collision midair. The Department of War has already stated that it wasn't due to any foreign enemy or direct hit. So that would lead me to believe that it was a collision in midair. And it's just an unfortunate tragedy. But these things do happen in combat operations.
Jeff Cruier
Yes. And then in the very beginning of the war, we had a friendly fire incident, did we not, where some planes were shot down in Kuwait and fortunately, all the pilots were able to eject safely.
Dr. Josh McConkey
Yeah. And I have not seen any reports on that yet because that was very strange. Three fighter jets shot down by friendly fire by. By. In Kuwait. And I'm dying to see the explanation there and how that happened. But when you shoot down some of your own friendly aircraft, it's a miracle that no one was injured. They all parachuted safely to the ground. I know there was social media footage of that, and that one is interesting.
Jeff Cruier
A miracle. All of them were fine. And that, as you say, we need to learn more. So overall, I think I'd heard that 15,000 targets have been hit by Israeli and American planes and that this is the largest maybe air force operation jointly with two countries we've ever seen. Are we looking at those kind of numbers here?
Dr. Josh McConkey
Yeah, the firepower that has been unleashed in the complete devastation of any of their air defenses, their navy, their. Their mine layers, their top leadership. It's. It's been a wonderful execution of how you carry out these types of operations. And, you know, we need to continue. We. Obviously, they are on their heels. They're still causing havoc in the Middle east, closing down that Strait of Hormuz, which we're all seeing, those rise in the gas prices. But certainly this activity prevented nuclear war. And under no circumstances can you let Iran get nuclear weapons. They were flagrant. They came into negotiations and just sat down with Wyckoff and Jared Kushner and flat out said, we have this many kilograms of weapons grade material. We're going to have this many bombs. You can't stop us. And they clearly went into negotiations with poor faith. They had no intentions of negotiating.
Jeff Cruier
And of course, that was a fatal mistake on their part, obviously, and they paid a tremendous price for that. I've always heard you're the expert, that you can't enact regime change with just air power, that if we want regime change, we're going to need boots on the ground. Would you say that is true?
Dr. Josh McConkey
You know, I do not support boots on the ground and these types of situations. We need to learn from some prior engagements. When you look at Iraq and you look at Afghanistan, you're just. The Iranian people need to stand up for themselves. We can create the environment for them to be successful. We can take out those targets, the leadership, the weapons. But the Iranian people need to step up and take back their country. This can't be just the US Going alone for another ground campaign. I certainly do not support that.
Jeff Cruier
Now, the Israelis say that that is their goal, regime change. We haven't, you know, heard that specifically from the United States. So it'll be interesting to see how this all develops going forward. What about just arming the, the Iranian people? What about giving them the tools to, to be able to do it themselves?
Dr. Josh McConkey
Yeah, and those are the behind the scenes things that are going on right now. CIA and different operatives. You know, we've got different assets within that region as well. I know the Kurds that are coming in from northern Iraq and there's lots of different actors in the area, but creating that environment, providing weapons where needed. This is some more longer term things that will need to be addressed shortly. But right now we are just crippling Iran's capability to cause that havoc, have nuclear weapons and shut down the Strait of Hormuz. So take it step by step. We need to regain control of the Straits of Hormuz first.
Jeff Cruier
How do we do that, Colonel? Is that going to take military escorts of these tankers?
Dr. Josh McConkey
It's looking that that is one of the options that they are considering. I mean, just going back to World War II style convoys across the Pacific. But they have to get that oil through those straits. It's very perilous. It's dangerous. They did destroy a majority of their minelayers as far as the ships themselves, but they definitely have some fast boats and things that can still wreak havoc and cause some destruction. They've taken. Any of the coastal defenses or the coastal weapons along Iran have been destroyed. They're still targeting some of those weapons systems right now. But I would anticipate that fairly shortly we should be able to neutralize Iran's capability to attack the shipping lanes. But, you know, it's a perilous operation for sure.
Jeff Cruier
In our final minute or so, I want to give you a chance to talk about your book, the Heart of a Leader, which is available now, and it's obviously something that has made a great impact and it's teaching some important lessons to children. You want to share more about it?
Dr. Josh McConkey
Yeah. Thank you very much. So the Heart of a Leader. This is a leadership series for children that as an emergency physician, as a military commander, I've just dealt with so many young Americans and 18 to 25 year olds that just during COVID they were shut out of their churches and schools and communities. And there's a large mental health crisis and there's a lack of leadership skills. So this book is how we address that. The earlier we get involved, the better. We have a fantastic illustrated book. This is book one, the Heart of a Leader. And each subsequent book is going to talk about perseverance and accountability and integrity. And it's already won several awards, the Mom Choice Awards and Southern California Book Awards. They're starting to rack up now. So if you go to lovelittleleaders.com you can learn more and order that book for your kids.
Jeff Cruier
Well, that is fantastic. And congratulations on all your success. Thank you for your service and thank you for your insights into this war and where things stand. All right, Colonel, appreciate you so much. All right, folks, let's check out a few of these clips we've got for you today. First one involves lady I had the pleasure of interviewing a number of times, Jeanine Pirro taking on a reporter. Let's check out clip number one.
Jeanine Pirro
What we don't accept is a judge standing in front of the door of a grand jury blocking our access. A role that has never been envisioned. A role that will now be used by other defense attorneys around the country who's going to come in with a client and say, oh, my client is being targeted. Don't dare go in the grand jury, a judge says, yes, the guy's bathed and washed in immunity and you can't go after him. The process should have been allowed to run its course, and it wasn't. And shame on them.
Michael O'Neill
Why are grand juries so skeptical of the cases that your office has been brought?
Jeanine Pirro
Oh, cut it out. Do you know how many convictions we've got?
Michael O'Neill
Cut it out.
Jeanine Pirro
You're in one lane. We have cleaned up this city. Historic, really. I'll tell you what's historic. What's historic is that I prosecute everything other than 10% percent of the cases where the United States attorney before me didn't prosecute 67% of the cases. That's what's historic. I'm willing to take a not guilty. I'm willing to Take a no true bill, because I'll take all the crimes and put them in.
Jeff Cruier
I like her style. She fights back. All right, we're talking a lot about John Cornyn in this Texas Senate race. I thought it'd be useful to hear from, of course, Charlie Kirk, who was such a shrewd political analyst. He knew these players inside and out. Here's what he said about John Cornyn. Thought it'd be interesting to share. Let's go to clip number two.
Public Podcast Announcer
The point I'm making is I have never seen in my 10 years of doing this someone so openly rebuked by their voters and then so quickly turning 180 degrees around saying, I don't care. I've never seen it. Usually when you show up to a town hall and you confront them, they say, okay, I'm done. I'm going to change my vote. Cornyn doesn't like you. And he jokes about it. Actually, Cornyn hates you. He knows he'll still get money from his corporate donors. He knows that instead of being allied with his voters and being like, maybe there's something I could learn here, he pokes him in the eye and says, no, no, no, no, no. I'm the senator. You, you're the serf. You're not a citizen. I'm in charge.
Jeff Cruier
Well said. And then finally, CNN makes a big mistake about the New York City terror attack. Had to do an on air at clip number three.
Elaine Kotti
This morning, I issued a correction for a mistake that I made in last night's show. I incorrectly said that the bombs that were thrown by ISIS inspired suspects in New York over the weekend were directed at Mayor Mamdani.
Jeff Cruier
They were not.
Elaine Kotti
I failed to catch and correct that mistake in real time. And I take full responsibility for that.
Jeff Cruier
That's CNN for you. All right, a lot more coming your way right here on ringside. A real America's voice. Jeff career with you will be right back.

Joining us again today, very pleased to have back with us. She's vice president for legal affairs for the Landmark Legal Foundation. Michael o' Neill joins us. And Mike, how are you? Welcome. Good afternoon.
Michael O'Neill
Good afternoon, Jeff. Good to be with you.
Jeff Cruier
Yeah, thanks so much. I wanted to talk first about some recent Supreme Court decisions that could be coming up. Who knows when one involves birthright citizenship challenges. Highly anticipated case involving the 14th Amendment's guarantee of citizenship to children born of parents not legally in the US So I know that's been a big source of controversy. Any crystal ball as to how that's going to come down?
Michael O'Neill
Well, we'll have to see. We're going to have oral arguments still are pending on April 1st. So I think we'll get a better picture, really, the issues that the court is focusing on after oral arguments, generally, you can, you can discern after those arguments have occurred what the, what the individual justices are particularly focused on. You can get a little bit of an inclination of where they're leading, can't make any promises, but you can generally get a feel for where the court seems to be heading. If you watch enough of these cases, you generally get a feeling for where an individual justice is particularly focused on, let me say about this, about birthright citizenship. At this point, it really is a coin flip. I mean, you could say somehow that the conservative justices, I think a conventional wisdom will be, well, the conservative justices are poised to rule in favor of the Trump administration's revocation of it, their position. But really, if you get into the weeds of it, the really the nuances of the arguments, it's really kind of a 50, 50 split amongst originalists about what these terms mean from the 14th amendment. Some people go Back to really old English jurisprudence on it. So there's really, really a good disagreement on this. So I think we'll get a better picture after April 1st.
Jeff Cruier
All I know is a lot of countries that had this have disbanded it over the years because, you know, it's been abused to allow people to flood into the country, have children. Those children are citizens. You know, we've had millions and millions come here illegally. So I can't imagine the founders had that in mind. And I can't imagine when the. And I can't imagine when the 14th Amendment was passed. And. Well, that was in the 18. What, 1868. When was that, Mike?
Michael O'Neill
Yeah, 1860.
Jeff Cruier
Right.
Michael O'Neill
Right. Where the Civil War.
Jeff Cruier
Yeah, yeah.
Michael O'Neill
I mean, the Reconstruction Amendment. I agree. I think that I would argue, of course, that it was originally intended to apply to the children of former slaves, and that was what the. The ratifiers of the 14th Amendment were intending, subject to the jurisdiction thereof. That's the. The term of art, obviously, that's the term in the 14th amendment that really that. That everybody's kind of focusing on what are the mean those words. And so if you start to apply. It depends on really where you're coming down on this. We will see. But I agree with your practical application of this. Certainly you can't discern that it was intended to apply to individuals who somehow arrive at America within 30 seconds, legally or illegally have a child, and somehow citizenship conveys to that child. Agree with you from a practical perspective, Jeff.
Jeff Cruier
All right, let's talk about a case involving Louisiana and congressional districts here. There was a lawsuit that was filed. It's worked its way up to the Supreme Court. We believe that there's some districts here that have been racially gerrymandered because this thing is, I guess, so explosive. It's taken a long time for the court to announce their decision. When is this coming here, Mike?
Michael O'Neill
Yeah, yeah, that's a great point. I kept thinking that this one was going to come down shortly after the new year. I mean, if you'd asked me months ago, I would have said it would have been before the new year. And it keeps getting pushed back. Pushed back. I used to think that that meant something, but the tariffs decision came out, and I thought that they were because they were delayed, the court was delaying the tariffs decision, that they were going to be ruling in a certain way. I was wrong there. So I don't think the delay in pushing back Louisiana vs Calais necessarily indicates that it's somehow going to be against the position that you and I probably advocate for that race obviously shouldn't be considered and shouldn't be a factor when you're determining congressional redistricting. And really that portion of the VRA shouldn't be applicable anymore. So I'm loathe to really get into thinking that the delay is a negative for the side, you and I. So we are on with this. But I am surprised they have announced that they're going to make some decisions next Friday on the 20th. So they might be releasing the Louisiana versus Calais on March 20th.
Jeff Cruier
All right, so let's say I've been
Michael O'Neill
proven they release it.
Jeff Cruier
Let's say they release it and view it. And their decision is that, yeah, these districts are being illegally gerrymandered based on race. So how is that going to impact the upcoming midterms?
Michael O'Neill
Yeah, I think that's a great point. I mean, you're getting into the practicality aspect again of this is whether the election officials in Louisiana are poised to go forward in a manner which isn't going to upset the process. I think I would like to believe that you folks down there would have your ducks in the line that once this decision comes down, anticipating that these congressional districts based on race were unconstitutionally proffered and that you're ready to go. So again, a lot of that comes down to the technicalities of the election officials on the ground.
Jeff Cruier
You are talking about Louisiana here. So I do not know if they have all this planned out. We're the state that created this racially gerrymandered district should have never been created in the first place. It was atrocious. It's really, it's the the shape of a snake and it just makes no sense. And it's obviously racially gerrymandered. Obviously that's illegal. It should be. All right. One more issue wanted to get your thoughts on, and that's the SAVE Act. Obviously, a lot of conservatives have been hoping that the filibuster would be eliminated and they'd be able to get this thing through. Now there's a lot of worry that it's not going to happen. What's your analysis, Mike?
Michael O'Neill
Well, it depends on the day you're talking about. The latest I've seen that the Senate Majority leader, John Thune, is going to put it for some sort of vote on Wednesday of this week. I certainly without a fillip, without a traditional filibuster, I certainly hope that that's not the case. I still think there's some time members of the House of Representatives are saying that if they do this, if the Senate goes this direction, they're going to hold up FISA legislation, which is the federal legislation that allows the establishment of all this surveillance and that it's a real baby of the Senate. And if the House is kind of pulling their power saying, look, we're going to hold up any Senate bills if you guys don't subject this to a full filibuster, I would encourage again, this is something 80, 95%, 90% of Americans think that the Senate needs to do, needs to get through. I would again listen petition your listeners and your and the watchers of your show to put as much political pressure on their elected representatives peacefully and respectfully as possible. I think that they do hear you. It's something we really don't know where it's going to come down this week. Obviously, I think it's something that we all agree should needs to be done. Obviously, there's non citizens on our voter rolls. There needs to be movement to get those, those individuals off the voter rolls. Voter id, we're forced citizenship verification, everyone's for this is something that the Senate needs to act on. And if the Democrats want to oppose it, they should be obligated to engage in a talking filibuster, not this zombie filibuster threat that they're engaging in right now.
Jeff Cruier
All right, Mike, great analysis. Thank you so much for being with us. We'll be following all of this in the days ahead. All right, we have another great guest joining us, and we're very pleased to welcome a policy analyst with the Heritage Foundation. And it's an important topic to discuss, and that is the collapse of the birth rate in America and the fact that this could very well be deliberate and a national security threat to our country. Let's welcome Emma Waters, who's with us. Hey, Emma, how are you? Welcome.
Emma Waters
I'm doing great. Thanks for having me today.
Jeff Cruier
Yeah, thank you. So what's going on with the birth rate in America, Emma?
Emma Waters
So as of 2024, the birth rate in the United States has continued to decline to lower and lower numbers. So on average, a country needs to be at about 2.1 births per woman to sustain itself at replacement level. And yet the United States is all the way down to 1.6, which means that this can be a serious threat not only to things like our national security, if you have fewer men and women being born who can defend the nation and economic threat, as there are fewer workers growing up when it comes to our Social Security maintenance, as well as people to work the jobs that we have. But Then even beyond that, we have a much bigger question, which is why are so few people having children to begin with? Is there a social, cultural or even spiritual problem that's really affecting Americans? And sadly, this gets into all issues from immigration to foreign nationals, and it's really become one of the biggest issues of our time.
Jeff Cruier
Is this the lowest birth rate we've ever had in our country?
Emma Waters
It is the lowest recorded birth rate.
Jeff Cruier
So it sort of reminds me of what I hear about Japan and Europe. And there are plenty of other countries that are dealing with this same issue, right?
Emma Waters
Yeah, this is absolutely right. So it's certainly not just a problem in the United States. And in fact, countries in Asia like China and Japan and South Korea are seeing even lower numbers. So in South Korea, for example, the birth rate is only 0.5, which means that for every 100 grandparents in South Korea, there's only seven grandchildren born total. They're looking at a complete civil civilizational rewriting right now where people are simply not having kids. The same is happening in China, the same is happening in Japan where despite heavy handed efforts from the government, including paid procreation days, people are simply not interested in bringing new life into the world.
Jeff Cruier
So, so, and there are so many issues that are involved. You have to, I guess, look at economic, you have to look at, I guess, technology and what's happening sadly, to relationships between men and women and so many other different factors involved in this. What's going on with the surrogacy issue with the Chinese nationals?
Emma Waters
So this is one of the most bizarre topics that may just ruin your day when you start to think about it. But in the United States, we have some of the most popular permissive international surrogacy laws. And in reality it's that we have no federal laws governing surrogacy either way. So it truly is a free for all. And the state of California, because of their proximity to Asia, has really capitalized on this. And so what we have is what I call a form of high tech birth tourism where foreign nationals and the plurality of them come From China, about 42% come to the United States, contract with a commercial surrogate here in the US and then have babies here. Now, because of our birthright citizenship misinterpretation, any child born in the United States gains and maintains the full rights of US citizenship, a birth certificate, passport, Social Security number, and access to all citizenship benefits that we have. And so, but what happens in this scenario is those Chinese nationals are then taking their children straight back to mainland China where they're raised culturally, ethnically and even religiously Chinese. And so the real problem with this is twofold. The first is that we have numerous examples of Chinese nationals intentionally using international surrogacy in the United States in order to gain citizenship and to work around our citizenship laws because not only does their child get citizenship, but when they turn 21, they can get a green card visa and then, of course, Social Security concerns. Yeah, it just continues from there.
Jeff Cruier
And it goes into our discussion with our last guest about birthright citizenship and that issue that is being debated before the Supreme Court right now. And this really does expose the national security implications here because this country is obviously our major adversary in the world today, China. And this is a real problem. I'm glad you're talking about it because it really hasn't gotten much attention. Emma, we're going to do it again very soon. Thank you so much for joining us. Thanks for your great insights into these important issues. So one clip I want to share before the end of this segment. And this is from a Bill Maher's show talking about Hollywood. I thought he made some good points. Let's go to clip number four. And finally, new rule as this Sunday's

The Oscars are no longer a long, boring show full of white people. It's a long, boring show full of all people. In the last decade, Best Picture has gone to everything everywhere all at once. Green Book, Parasite, Coda, Shape of Water, moonlight, not to mention Nomadland, which might be about Somalia, but no one has seen it. So it's impossible to know.
Jeff Cruier
All right. Bill Maher. So that is going to be a great segue. Our next guest is someone running to be governor of California. We'll ask her a little bit about Hollywood and also some of the other issues going on in California. Elaine K. Is going to be joining us next. So we look forward to that. But first, a brief timeout. We we'll be right back. Ringside Politics. We will point the news to you up front. Ringside Politics Politics with the flights. Ringside Politics analysis made crystal clear. Ringside Politics with your host, Jeff Cruyer. All right. You know, we're just talking about the Oscars in Hollywood. A great segue into our guest who is an independent candidate running for governor. She's a real estate developer. She's an entrepreneur. She's a sustainable farmer. And the star of Undercover Billionaire Elaine Kotti is with us. Elaine, how are you? Welcome.
Elaine Kotti
It's good to see you.
Headshop.com Announcer
I'm good.
Elaine Kotti
It's Oscar weekend. Yeah.
Jeff Cruier
So. And that was my first question to you. I read a report about how Hollywood is worried that the business is in trouble. Films are leaving California. The number of people employed in the industry is going down. So there's a lot of concern. And I would say that probably extends across a lot of different businesses, industries in California. Is that right?
Elaine Kotti
Oh, it's definitely. One of Gavin Newsom's biggest failures is how he has allowed over the last seven years for Hollywood to almost completely exit California. It's, it's just, it's. It's insurmountable. It's untenable. And even though there is this optic of creating studios and trying to give track tax credits, it's just not enough. And it's too little, too late.
Jeff Cruier
So you're coming in as an independent. So is your background Democrat or Republican, or have you always been Independent?
Elaine Kotti
My background is Democrat, but I'm a fiscal conservative, so I've never really fit into the Democratic Party completely. But the party has been so split anyway, even on the Democratic side alone. Yes, it's true. California has a big Democratic stronghold, but if people really look at the math, 41% of Californians identify as no party preference. That's a very important number. And these people are done. They're sick of it, just like me. And the Republicans also are so fragmented in California and unfunded in California. Even Kevin Kiley, who is one of our most conservative voices, has now moved to NPP after the gerrymandering and Prop 50. We also learned two days ago that James woods, speaking of Oscars, James woods has also moved from the Republican Party to npp. And this is a direct result of the party's fragmenting good policy.
Jeff Cruier
And I just want to let people know NPP is no party preference. So, yeah, I think that that's. Listen, I'm a Republican. I struggle every day. Should I become independent? Because I get so frustrated with the Republican Party time and time again. The rhinos drive me crazy. So let's talk a little bit about the race. So you've got Eric Swalwell seems to be running first. Steve Hilton. Where do you fit in that mix? And what kind of time do you have to surge to the front, Elaine?
Elaine Kotti
Well, I think that the misnomer is that there's not enough time for me to win because it's 90 days away. It's actually 80 days away, but it's just complete nonsense. I, you know, polling at 4.6% 15 days after entering the race just tells you that people want something different. Also, the people that are in the race that are polling at the top, it's still only 15% of the overall because there's just so many people breaking up the race. Clearly, Eric Swalwell is leading the pack, but if I get in front of a microphone and can really debate him, he will drop like a rock.
Jeff Cruier
So tell us how you will do that because, I mean, I find him to be disgusting. But how would you take on Eric Swalwell, the front runner right now?
Elaine Kotti
All I've been saying this lightly to people, but I really want people to listen to me, Listen to me. Please go on to grok or chat and type in Eric Swalwell and how he has voted and you won't vote for him. It's just unbelievable. And it's so easy. Now you can access the deepest information about how people have voted, where they stand political, politically, where, what they stand for. A lot of people think that Democrats want all of these crazy initiatives in California. It's simply not true. What has happened is good intentions have paved the road to hell. It happens all the time. There are unintended consequences. The majority of Californians do not want unfunded mandates. And unfunded mandates are things that we are fighting about every day, like SB79, which is the high density housing bill, ICE going to cities called sanctuary cities. Sanctuary cities are unfunded mandates put upon small towns all across California. These are things where the city themselves does not have the money to implement the mandate. And they're supposed to be paid back from Sacramento, but they never are. And the king pin of unfunded mandates is Gavin Newsom. And by the way, directly aligned with every single single initiative of policy is Eric Swalwell. So if you just take the bad policy of Gavin Newsom and lay it over Eric Swalwell, you're, you've solved, you've solved the mystery on why not to vote for him.
Jeff Cruier
Elaine, we're running out of time. I love the fact that you're running. I love your perspective. We want to have you back. Okay, tell our viewers where we can get more information about you. Where can we go?
Elaine Kotti
You can find me notoriously on Instagram under Lipstick farmer and on X under lipstick farmer because I'm also involved in a big farming thing. But now, as the governor's candidate, it's Kaladi.
Jeff Cruier
Okay.
Elaine Kotti

It's been a, it's been a pleasure, Elaine. Thank you so much. Good luck to you. Look forward to having you back on. I like the, the fresh perspective. I really do. The show delivers blunt, unapologetically conservative commentary, mixing serious policy debate with media criticism, occasional levity, and clear calls to civic activism. Regular use of “punch” metaphors and a strong adversarial stance against establishment figures and mainstream narratives.
This episode is a comprehensive ride through the latest in American political drama—military conflict, legal showdowns, demographic challenges, and deepening political divides. Cruere threads strong opinions with powerful guests, urgent calls to grassroots involvement, and critiques of both the political establishment and cultural trends. Listeners come away with a blend of analysis, actionable motivation, and a flavor of the current “Ringside” of American politics.
