I'm coming to you this week from Provo, Utah, where I've been inside the 4th District courthouse covering the Tyler Robinson preliminary hearing, the case of the man who confessed to assassinating Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University last September. It has been a sobering week in that courtroom. Charlie's wife, Erica, his parents and his friends all have been watching as they are reminded of the tremendous cost that Charlie paid for standing boldly in the public square. It is real and justice still matters in America, and we are blessed to be in a nation to have such a legal system where there is overwhelming evidence that can be presented. And we ask that you continue to pray for this trial in the Kirk family. Our scripture reading this morning comes to us from Micah, chapter 6, verse 8. He has told you, O man, what is good and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love, kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? As always, we want to be an encouragement to our viewers to hold fast to the unchanging word of God, no matter what we might face in life. I'm Ryan Helfenbein. Well, Rod, I am broadcasting right now from Provo, Utah. This week I was invited by the Kirk family to attend this trial. Erica Kirk is a dear friend. Charlie was a dear friend. This is a process in which we're getting all kinds of evidence. You and I were just having a conversation just a few moments ago about all the things that you're seeing. It's crazy to see that just what has transpired in the past year. Not only was Charlie the victim of political violence and certainly a martyr for the Christian faith, I don't think he was just a political figure whose life was taken. It was because he was so outspoken about his faith and particularly about the moral and spiritual issues that the alleged shooter, a trans shooter, shot him. And here we are having a trial. But to add insult to all of this, there are all kinds of people on the fake right, Rod, that are sowing all kinds of dissension, distraction, deception. And really in a way that is not just detrimental to this case. Not that the truth will overwhelmingly, I think, prove the guilt of Tyler Robinson. He deserves a fair trial. That's part of our American legal system. But I think it will prove his guilt. We're seeing so much evidence right now that is disproving people like Candace, people like Sean Ryan, people like Tucker and others. What do you make of all of this? What's going on in the so called fake right?

[Rod Martin]

Well, it is really demoralizing to watch what has been done here, not least in that, as you know better than most, we had a revival breaking out in consequence of Charlie's horrible, horrible death. And these people have done everything they can to shift focus away from that which tells you everything about who these people are now. Their followers are another thing in two parts. The first being just the degree to which everyone under a certain age was marinated in the public schools and colleges in postmodern thought. This unreasoning narrative driven you. Do you my truth point of view, we see it in Baptist life with standpoint epistemology and standpoint hermeneutics. Wherever you look, there's the idea That I, whoever I happen to be, is the center of all things, and I alone can interpret whatever facts or not facts may be. And we think of that as a phenomenon of the left. That is certainly the essence of wokeness and the underlying philosophical core. But turns out a lot of people on the right learn those lessons as well. So they don't necessarily think of themselves that way. They don't necessarily realize that's what they're doing. But we see it every day, and it is because it's unreasoning. It is coupled with this extraordinary venom, this incredible unreasoning hate, very much like what you see in 1984. These people have been deprived of any ability to think critically, so they emote constantly. The other piece, of course, is what Yuri Besmanov taught us years ago. Yuri was a top Soviet defector, and in 1984, he had a lot to say about how the Soviets were trying to undermine the west and lead it into its own communist revolution. Obviously, they were willing to invade countries, but they didn't want to have to. They wanted us to, as Lenin said, fall into their hands like ripe fruit. And Besmanoff told us that the key to the whole thing was something he called demoralization, the belief that nothing matters, that nothing's real, that the future is doomed, and that all authority must be distrusted at all times. Well, God knows our authorities have done a lot to earn distrust, but that does not make all authority untrustworthy. And we're about to see that in this trial where the case against Tyler Robinson is as open and shut as any case I think I've ever seen in my life. And yet Candace Owens and her followers will literally accuse anyone, if not everyone on the planet, except the possibility that maybe Tyler Robinson might have been involved, which is remarkable since, you know, this is a guy who confessed and his dad turned him in and, you know,

little things like that.

[Rod Martin]

So it's. It's just a really dangerous moment, I think, and we must confront it, and we have to overcome it, or we really are in trouble in this country.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Absolutely. I just. I'll point out one thing that Candace said that Tyler was never actually on campus at Utah Valley University. And now it's been confirmed this week that he appeared on that campus at least four times in around the time of the shooting, before, both before and after, and he's on camera. The defense did not hold any objection when he was identified by the prosecution in being in the. Those videos. They didn't say, no, that's somebody else. No, no, no, he was there. So this is just one area where Candace has just egregiously violated the truth in order to, you know, to get clout, you know, on, on her podcast and on social media.

One of her more prominent followers yesterday said, okay, well, show me a screenshot of Tyler Robinson from firing the shot. Like, okay, well, show me a Screenshot of Bridget McCrone's male anatomy. You know, what are you talking about? You know, first of all, all of your theories are defamatory, you know, and Candace is about to just get cleaned out by the McCrones. I have no idea what may be coming at her from, from various people associated with Turning Point, but the Macrons alone are going to put her in a box in the alley from, from the financial ruin that she's faced with for her defamation there. But, but the truth of the matter is this is just nonsense. Any actual evidence is instantly discarded. Only the narrative matters. And that's what we've been seeing out of the Woke now for the last 15 years. Turns out it's very much alive and well on the right as well.

I agree. I think the horseshoe theory is a real thing. I call them the fake. Right. And these are people who are largely interlopers, infiltrators. But as it says in First John and First John, Chapter two, they're not actually a part of us. They're not with us. They have departed, and their departing has proven they were never really of us. And I think that's really important to point out. I have to say this because I know you talk so much about geopolitics, Trump's trip to NATO this week to Turkey. Lots of things have happened. The ceasefire effectively seems to be done. The President has basically said that this week the Iranians have actually attacked ships in the strait. They vowed not to during the ceasefire. They violated their end of it. Just your take on what potentially might happen next.

Look, Donald Trump always leaves himself multiple ways to win, and this ceasefire theoretically could have ended in a good result. But I don't believe Donald Trump ever thought that it actually would. I don't think anybody serious really did. And you say, well, then why did he do it? Well, that's easy. We've gotten the Iranian leadership at each other's throats over the last couple months. They've been assassinating each other right and left. And we're not talking about just flunkies, we're talking about top level people, you know, admirals and, you know, a president of the Islamic Republic for him. And say, you know, and they just, they just magically die in car wrecks and things, you know? Sure. Right. Whatever. You know, we hear of US Presidents dying in car wrecks all the time. This has been part of the goal show conclusively to the, to the Gulf Arab allies that Iran cannot be dealt with, that they will continue striking out at their Arab neighbors even when their Arab neighbors are stuck Absolutely. Standing down. And prove to the American public that this threat isn't going to go away. While offering global relief on oil and gas prices, which we've gotten, and oil has been pretty consistently for the last week around the number that it was on February 27th. So he's accomplished a bunch of different things at once. And he's bought time for us to rebuild some stocks.

Everything is in. Can I add one thing? And he has said he does not want to be Herbert Hoover. And I think you're pointing it out beautifully. That's exactly right. He does not want to be putting the world, the entire world economy into a great depression. And that's a big part of his consideration. But I agree with you. He doesn't want to. He's not going to let this go.

And we are creating ways around the Gulf. I'm sorry, the Strait of Hormuzz daily. By a year and a half from now, none of the Gulf states are going to need the Strait of Hormuz. They are all going to have pipeline capacity sufficient to route their oil around it completely. That takes away the only hammer Iran has left. So time is on our side. Trump knows that if you're going to topple a regime, and I know officially that's not our goal, but. But trust me, that's our goal. If you're going to topple a regime without invading a country, and we're not going to invade, you've got to get creative. And part of it is get the regime to turn on itself, which we've done. At some point, you get enough Iranians armed and trained to be able to topple what's left. But that's going to take a minute. Trump always understood that was going to take a minute. Look, bottom line is Donald Trump wants to bring Middle east peace. And we just saw Hamas is now standing down from the government in Gaza. Yes, they're going to rebrand. Yes, they're still going to be around. But I'm sorry, resigning the government and handing it over to an arm of Trump's board of Peace is actually a really big deal. And the Lebanon peace, the same thing. And how we handled The Houthis, Same thing. Every armed conflict in the Middle east, everyone was centered in Tehran, armed, directed, funded. And now all of those are being rolled up. If they haven't been completely rolled up, even the Iraqi government is rolling up. The Shia militias in Iraq that were on side with Tehran, they are being arrested, they are being disarmed. It is absolutely miraculous. And until Iran is taken off the board as a hostile, you're never gonna get to a true generalized peace. But if you achieve that, Trump can remove a significant portion of our forces from the region and focus on the real threat, China.

Well, I am right now broadcasting from Provo, Utah. This week I was asked by the Kirk family to come and to attend this trial. Of course, prayers for Erica Kirk for the prosecutorial team, prayers for the family and all those that are a part of this. But Grace, I wanted to start and begin by talking about the impact that Charlie made on your generation, the Gen Z generation, the most. I mean, it's clear that he obviously was influential on boomers and Gen Xers and millennials, but in particular the Gen Z generation. And how, in how big of a loss was it this last year that his life was taken? And then at the same time, to add insult to just this tragedy that all of a sudden now there's these looming conspiracy theories that are seeking to distract and divide the movement.

[Grace Riley]

Yeah, you know, it's been really disheartening as a young person to, I mean, all of this, it's heartbreaking beyond belief and still it's hard to even believe what happened because, of course, Char Charlie's impact is so profound that we can hardly put it into words and, and discuss it here today. And his heart was for the younger generation. His heart was for Gen Z. That's what his life mission surrounded. Getting young people involved, but also sharing the truth with them, whether that be related to faith and the ultimate truth of Jesus Christ, but also the truth in the sense of politics, in the values of limited government and personal responsibility, and in spreading to young why they should be so empowered by the conservative principles that our founding fathers established, our great country on. He shared with young people why they should be proud to be American, why they should love our country, and why they should stand firmly and boldly against all of the forces that seek to destroy our country both from within and from outside. And he was a champion for truth more than anything. And I think that that's what we should focus on. And whether we think about all of the things that have happened since he tragically was. Was taken from us or, or thinking about his stance in politics, we just need to be praying that truth would prevail very clearly and decisively and that a bright light would be cast on truth and that it would become increasingly clear what that deceivers are deceivers, essentially. So, yeah, especially for young people, it's important to just cling tight to the truth, stay praying and prayerful and disc with all of the noise that we see surrounding this and just seek and root for justice for Charlie and to, you know, support the truth and this march for justice and to try to have discernment through a lot of the noise.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Grace, there is a poll very troubling. Gen Z women are the most pessimistic about the American dream and the American future. Young women are moving harder and harder to the left. It seems like every day that has not slowed down. In the more recent 2024 election among Gen Z women. A family, being married and having kids was like one of the bottom priorities for Gen Z women. It was one of the highest priorities for Gen Z man. Explain this to us so all of us, the older generations that might be watching, how to understand Gen Z women at least at this moment.

[Grace Riley]

Yeah. And I have to say just quickly, I'm getting married one month from today actually, so congratulations. I'm happy using that path. But I bring that up also to say I'm a young Christian conservative woman. And, and part of that is that it's a lifestyle that provides so much truth, meaning and fulfillment. And an interesting correlation between this move to the left and this lack of satisfaction amongst women and their lack of belief in the American dream. We should look at other trends that, that are coming alongside that. One of them is that women, as you noted, are not prioritizing marriage and they're getting married later and later or not at all. They've been uniquely impacted by the messaging of the woke radical left feminists who have told them that their, their path to fulfillment is to be a career woman and to see marriage as unempowering and as oppressive and whatnot. We've seen so many lies about the God's institution of marriage float around our culture to both men and women to try to redefine what marriage is. But God's definition of marriage is the most empower, empowering and beautiful thing, the most beautiful picture of Christ and the church, of course. And with women not seeking that anymore, trying to go things alone, they're ending up less happy. They're also ending up obviously there, there is a correlation between happiness and whether a woman is married or not. And even when we think about housing, which people typically relate to the American dream in their mind, the American dream should be, people should have faith in that because of the ideas that are in our Constitution and Declaration of Independence. That's really the true American dream, this protection of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. But even if you look at it in the way of affording a house and doing those more traditional things that we love to do here in America, the median age for first time homeowners is 40 years old now. And another thing that's connected to that is typically when you buy a home, that happens when you get married. So getting married is happening later and later, owning a home is happening later. And later. So it's no surprise that we see these women who are shifting towards the left, being unsatisfied and being kind of stuck in this trap. So my message to all of them and to all of you, even if you just know young people, is to just encourage them in. In the way that's fulfilling, which is to pursue Christ, to get married and to have children. As Charlie Kirk said, that was his main mission. Point beyond politics was to point towards Christ and to encourage young people to do the thing that was going to be the best for them in their life and the best for our country as a whole. Because the family and faith are the cornerstones of society, but it's also, on an individual level, the cornerstone of your life. I mean, and that's what. That's what gives you true meaning and fulfillment. So the answer for. For women who are searching is to pursue Christ and to pursue these values and ideas that will give them true empowerment in meaning.

So well said. I'm reminded of this tweet that Charlie had put out maybe two or three years ago. He said, it's God first, it's family second, and then it's country third, in that order. Joining me now is Lindsey Graham. She is the bestselling author of the book Alphabet Prayers for Toddlers and a Christian commentator. She's the host of the Pretty Fed up podcast and her work is widely recognized by the left who coined the name Patriot Barbie. Lindsay, welcome to the program. Great to see you.

Hey, good morning. Thanks. Good to see you too, Ryan.

Well, I look, it's Sunday. For those who are watching who are at home, one of the things that we know that is so important, grandparents know this. Parents are learning this right through the experience of having children. The importance of transmitting faith to that next generation. It's so critically important. You wrote a book on prayer literally to instruct how to pray for children. And by the way to, I would love for you to touch point on that, but I also want to talk about this study. CBN Christian Broadcasting Network published an article basically referring to the same kinds of things, the routines, the habits of faith that are so important. It's not just a knowledge of God. It's not just a knowledge of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It's how you walk in daily life. You wrote a book on prayer. Tell us about that.

[Lindsey Graham]

Yeah, so you know, I, I imagine that children, when they watch their parents pray or they attend a church service where adults are praying, boy, we can really let the Holy Spirit take over and bless this and anoint this and use maybe very deep lifelong church, if you will, verbiage. And so my book, Alphabet Prayers for Toddlers is totally God anointed. I mean, I had no intention of writing a children's faith based book ever in my life, life. But I thought, you know, what if you wrote a very simple prayer according to the Alphabet, A, B, C that a child could memorize, like B, for example, bless my family, they could just remember that, right? That's a very simple, innocent prayer. And you're praying for the health, wealth and safety of your family, but with a scripture that correlates why we pray for something like that. And so the whole book is let's not over complicate praying for, you know, the starving children in Africa and for the job promotion that we need and et cetera, et cetera, little children just need to learn to pray for their basic needs. And so the book really just kind of helps guide that. But you're right that it is so important that we teach our children young because those all of our lifelong habits start when we are little. You know, if you're Raised in a family that goes camping every year on the 4th of July. As an adult, you're going to say, this is what we do on 4th of July, we go camping. Right. That's how I was raised. So, you know, praying at the dinner table, praying at night, like you do with your children, doing devotionals, making God the actual center of your life will help them to structure that. The preface is, God is the center of my life as well. And when I have children, I'm going to lead the way that my father led. I'm going to follow in my mother's footsteps when she, you know, would quietly pray in the car during an ice storm. You know what I do with my kids? I just pray out loud for the silliest things. But the kids hear it, you know, and sometimes they'll just bow their head in the back seat.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

So, yeah, cute.

[Lindsey Graham]

But what, what a culture that we need because, you know, prayer, prayer is everything, obviously. And the Lord hears us in all our prayers, so we have to teach our children, especially the next generation, to do that.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Amen. Going all the way back to Deuteronomy chapter 6. This is where the Shema was recited. Every young Hebrew boy and girl would learn this hero. Israel, the Lord our God is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, strength. This is repeated, very familiar. It's repeated by Jesus. It's repeated in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. So it's in the Gospels, actually, excuse me, not in the book of John, but in Matthew, Mark and Luke, the synoptics. It's repeated there. Jesus says the two great commandments, to love the Lord your God and then to love your neighbor as yourself. In this report that I'm referring to, it's a CBN article passing the How Faith Moves Across Generations. They assess data by over 60,000 adults Christian homes. They were asking all kinds of questions analytics conducted about how parents play the most decisive role in determining whether children retain faith in God. So that goes right back to Deuteronomy 6. And here's. I'm just going to read these statistics and I want to get your reaction. Get this. Children whose parents attend church weekly are more than twice as likely to attend church themselves as adults compared to those raised in homes where their parents don't routinely go to services. Additionally, close to half of parents who prayed daily raised their children who carried a daily prayer habit into adulthood, compared to less than a third of parents who did not maintain a regular prayer routine. This is why a book like that, Alphabet prayers for Toddlers There are many other things that we can look to as resources. But, Lindsay, it's so important that we do instill faith in this next generation. And Gen Z is kind of making a little bit of a recovery. According to Pew Research we're seeing with Bible app downloads, church attendance is going up. It is one of the most conservative generations we've seen in decades compared to the decline we've seen. Right. For so many years. So let's bring it back home. Why, as a mother, is it so important to instill faith in your children?

[Lindsey Graham]

It is the main, the main job. First of all, it's the, it's the whole objective, right? Like what, what is your life if your child has a degree from Harvard and, you know, is a millionaire but doesn't know the Lord? Like, that's, to me, that's a fail. Right? Like the, the whole goal is my children become soldiers for the Lord. They become ministers of His. Of His. His Word. They become bold, outspoken Christians and will stand for truth at all costs. That's the goal.

[Kevin Freeman]

Right.

[Lindsey Graham]

Even if you're working at Chick Fil A, you know, but, but what this, what this society tends to forget or overlook or seem to blatantly ignore is that we do, we do lay the groundwork for our children, like, first and foremost. And it's the reason that, you know, the gender ideology issue is such a big deal. When a parent comes out and says, oh, my child is the wrong gender. Like, they didn't come up with that on their own. Like, that's not a thing. Unless you've told them that it's a thing, that they were born in the wrong body. The same goes for faith. You're. They're looking to you for guidance on their morals, their ethics, their beliefs. Who else is going to teach it? Certainly the public schools, if you allow it. That's. As for me in my house, no. But if we don't lead them and if we don't guide them, then of course, statistically, I'm actually shocked that those stats aren't even more dramatic. That if you don't teach your child churches where you connect with community that loves the Lord, churches where you go to be able to dive into the. And get touch with the Holy Spirit on a deeper level, community level, if you don't teach those things, how in the world would someone wake up and go, I think I'll give this random thing I've never ever done a try? I mean, it doesn't happen. Absolutely. Someone somewhere ministers to someone and invites them to church. Praise the Lord. But if it's so out of your element, I, I, there's, you know, there's hundreds of things I've never done. And I'm telling you that this weekend I'm not going to wake up and go, I should go. Try that. You just see what it's about, you know, so of course children that are raised in church are going to go, this is normal. This is what we do. I had a good experience for the most, you know, for the most part, hopefully going to church every Sunday as the experience I had. But if they don't know and it's unfamiliar, how are they ever going to have that confidence to say, I think I'm going to go to this random huge event where they talk about a God I've never heard of and open a book I've never read. That sounds real exciting, you know, as opposed to sleeping in. So that's how important it is. We've got to keep this generation plugged in and develop those habits, that structure.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Yes, faith. It's so critical to understand that faith is habit forming. Faith really is about a lifestyle. It's about total immersion. It's about your daily practices and routines. That's what it really is, what it all boils down to. Faith is not just a full, it's not a philosophy, it's not Zen, you know, where we just got to get into this cosmic aura of nothingness. And we might do that a few times a week where people meditate in some kind of weird posture. That's not what faith is really about. Faith is really about every single day of your life. It is in the routine of how you eat. It's in the routine of making time to go to church. Which, by the way, church is not a Sunday morning decision in my household. Lindsay. Church is a Saturday decision in my household. Meaning everything you do on Saturday is going to bear consequence on Sunday morning. If you know on Saturday that you've got X, Y and Z to do, and you also know that you got to get kids, little ones in bed, you got to have a schedule. Because if you don't have a schedule, they're going to bed late, they're getting up late the next morning. It's chaotic, it doesn't work. And so you have to think through all of those things. And I would just encourage parents and I want to preach at them on this. But, you know, look at, look at the schedule. When it comes to travel ball, you know, I love baseball as a kid, I played it all the time. You know, we never did. We never played baseball on Sunday morning. My dad was a coach. We never scheduled the game on Sunday morning. We forfeited games sometimes and said, hey, we're not, we're just not doing it that way. We're going to go in the afternoon maybe, but we'd prefer to schedule on another day. We never miss church. And I think that is one of the most critical things in stealing faith habits in the life of children. These routines and patterns bear fruit long term.

[Lindsey Graham]

Yeah. One of the things that recently, this year specifically I've decided was to start really, truly honoring the Sabbath because I work from home and I'm able to. To set my own hours. Sometimes I just, I get a text or I schedule a call on a Sunday. And that's great because I'm free, right? But I've said, you know what? No, this is the year that I truly say the sun. That Sunday is about community. It's about church, it's about family. It's about absolutely showing my children what, what, what else we do to honor God. We don't just go to church and pray, you know, we, we worship. We glorify him in all things, you know, and we, Sabbath, we say, today's the day that I just enjoy what you've blessed me with. And at first it was very difficult, and now it is not difficult. Now I'm like, this is my time with the Lord to just enjoy what he's blessed me with. And that's another habit that I'm hoping that their little brains compute and they carry into their adulthood. Oh, no, no, no. We don't do that on Sunday. You must be joking, right? It's Sabbath. And it seems so foreign to so many people. Like Sabbath has been really tossed aside and, and disrespected even, especially on my, on my part, I'll admit. And kind of, ah, it's not, you know, really a big deal. But man, when you stop and you actually do it and you recognize that full day of just being present in the gifts and the blessings that the Lord has given you, it's so app. It shows him how appreciative you are. I'm not, yes. Striving for more on a day when I could just be enjoying what you've given me. I'm telling you that I'm so grateful and I'm so at peace with what you've blessed me with to steward, that I'm just going to take it all in and be thankful today. And that's what Sabbath has become. And I think that's another beautiful, beautiful habit.

I think that's a great one to end on this morning. And you know, I'm reminded of what the Bible Sundays and the Ten Commandments, remember the Sabbath, keep it holy. And then it says in Hebrews that Jesus is that great fulfillment of the Sabbath. Let us strive therefore to enter into his rest. And that is the rest that Christ offers by conquering both sin and conquering death. Lindsey Graham, thank you so much for joining Sunday the Road Forward. First of all, I'm coming to you from Provo, Utah this week. I was invited by Erica Kirk, a dear friend, just to be with the family, to sit with the family during the trial. I know that you knew Charlie. He was a close personal friend of yours. Last year before his life was tragically taken. He actually spent some time with you, actually where you are, in your studio. What are your, you know, thoughts so far? Just about this trial, how this has been going as you've been, as you've been gathering all this data and information.

[Kevin Freeman]

Well, first, I, I love Charlie. I know I will see him again in heaven, and I'm grateful for that. Charlie was an amazing man. I watched him grow from a young man into a full adult male that is capable of doing so many wonderful things. I mean, he articulated the gospel, he articulated conservative principles. Not a day goes by that I don't get sent or see a video clip of him answering questions tougher than I would be willing to take on and with winsomeness and power. And, yeah, I did spend some great time with Charlie at America Fest here in my studio and so forth. What I'm excited about this trial is to tamp down the rumors. I'm so sick of hearing all of this speculation. And now I want to see the evidence. I want justice to be brought properly, but I want it to be brought with evidence and not speculation. And so I'm excited for the trial not because my dear friend is gone, but because the truth is coming out and we're going to see the evidence laid out. And I think that's a very important part of the healing process for Erica, for the family, for all those who love Charlie.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Yes, Amen to that. Look, this is a part of our great American legal system. This comes from British common law. But the right to due process, the right to a fair trial, the right to a jury, all of those things. Yes, justice can be painfully slow. But we don't want people carted off to a guillotine by some kind of angry mob. We don't want lynchings in America. What we want is the kind of justice system that is slow, not to be a miscarriage of justice, but the kind where evidence is presented and that we know we have the right person. And I do believe that we do have the right person. And I think the evidence is showing that even now. Kevin, this week, there are so many economic factors that are hitting us right now. There's the weakening of the dollar. There was a news report more recently that several countries are looking to divest the dollar and their current holdings in the dollar and probably go back to gold. A slight transition, not high percentages, just a few percentage points. But it's unmistakable that the dollar has lost its value. This is something you talk about so much over at Economic War Room. Just recently, Mike Lee, Senator Mike Lee had posted that in the last 25 years, hospital services have risen in cost by over 281%. College tuition by 196%. College textbooks, 176%. Childcare, nursery school, 158% increase in cost. Medical care services, clearly something that has gone up for everyone. Close to 150% there. Average hourly wages, yes, it's gone up. Housing has gone up about 110 food and beverage items, that is hitting all of us right now 105%. So double. More than double in the past 25 years. The things that are getting cheaper, televisions look to be getting cheaper. Computer software, cell phone services. Clothing is about the same. New cars up 25% over the past 25 years. It's hitting everyone. What is this phenomenon of inflation? For those who are watching who may not understand it, why is it.

[Kevin Freeman]

Okay, let's start with Mike Lee. I met him in 2011 when Utah passed the Legal Tender Act. He was not a senator. And I met this young man named Mike Lee and I thought, wow, he's really sharp. And of course, now he's a great senator. And gold and silver, you know, we talk about it all the time. I wrote a whole book on this called Pirate Money. They hold their value. That's God's money. Over time, paper money, if you print too much of it, it goes down in value. And that's a big part of our inflation. Housing prices. You mentioned the Federal Reserve just had a study out that said 30% of the increase in housing prices that we've seen is because we had an open border and we have so many illegal immigrants coming across the border demanding housing. So there's a lot of factors going into this, but the core of your question is this. Why is it that medical costs have gone up and computer prices have gone down over time, especially with the fact that most of our healthcare is becoming increasingly based in technology. So it should be going down, shouldn't it? The answer is, and Mike Lee pointed it out, Senator Lee, it is government intervention. When the government intervenes in things and interrupts the free market, it causes prices to go up. I'll give you a perfect example, something that's not covered under your health insurance, where the government's not overly involved. But is medical procedure, laser eye surgery. Have you noticed how laser eye surgery costs have gone down while almost everything else in medicine has gone up? And you can figure it out a little bit too. If insurance is involved, the price is higher. Walk in, get insurance, get an MRI or any procedure that you and say, what's the cash price? And you'll find that the cash price is often a fraction of what they charge the insurance company. If you'll pay cash right then and there, sometimes even less than your co pay and your deductible.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Tell me a little bit about again. And we got about a minute left. The importance, though of why so many might be looking to gold, including Senator Lee, but then also other countries in coming off of American paper. Why is that?

[Kevin Freeman]

Well, one simple fact. We have almost $40 trillion in debt. That debt's got to come from somewhere. So the Federal Reserve creates money out of thin air to buy that debt. The more money you create, the less valuable it is. Gold and silver are created by God. There's a limited supply, limited to what God has made. And therefore you can't print with a press. Gold and silver, so they retain their value better over the long term. That's why people are turning to gold and silver as opposed to US dollars. They see the handwriting on the wall, to use a biblical phrase. And the US dollar is under threat because of our massive creation of new dollar.

[Ryan Helfenbein]

Well, I sent it off with your help, Brian, and I appreciate that. I sent it off for publication. It should be out within a month or so. It's called the Four Horsemen of the American Apocalypse and there are six trials by fire. And it gives individuals, how do I protect my family? As well as what should we be doing at the government level to protect our nation? I'm very pleased with this book. It's got over 900 footnotes. It is twice as long as pirate money. But I think it's a very good and helpful book.
