Dr. Tim Clinton
Well, we are in week four of the government shutdown. This is now the second longest federal shutdown in history. U.S. history. Repercussions are going to be staggering and it's looking like food stamps are going to be hit hard here soon. Chuck Schumer, he needs to get the Democrats moving. We need to get something done. By the way, President Trump delivered a strong message to Chuck Schumer this week. Horrible news. He is cutting a $20 billion project that Schumer fought for for over 15 years. They didn't realize President Trump said that this gives me the right to cut programs that Republicans never wanted, you know, giveaways, welfare programs, etc. And we're doing that and we're cutting them permanently. That's what the president said. Social media blew up this week about Christians being killed in Nigeria. According to AP News, more Christians are killed specifically for their faith in Nigeria than anywhere else in the world. Since 2009, Islamic jihadists have massacred over 50,000 Christians in Nigeria and they've destroyed more than 20,000 Christian churches, schools and other institutions. Hey, the killings have got to stop. We have to use every diplomatic tool we can to end this horrific slaughter of our brothers and sisters in Christ. Hey. Last weekend, the no Kings protest filled with protesters, many who were paid, by the way, was pretty much a dud. But a few portraits over the weekend blew up social media. One was a teacher who went viral for mocking Charlie Kirk's murder. Charlie's friend Andrew Colbert called out what he sees as a disturbing trend among educators. He said the most vile reactions to Charlie's murder have almost all been public school teachers and professors. He said that tells you A lot about what America's children are facing and why TPUSA is more important than ever. I agree. It continues to concern all of us about what's happening in our schools. Indoctrination versus education. Israel and Hamas, all eyes continue to focus in on the Middle east and the peace efforts there. This week, Hamas received a stern word from the President. He said, get on board basically, or you're going to be destroyed. We need to pray for the peace efforts over there. And don't forget, this is Pastor Appreciation Month. Precious are those whose feet are shot with the preparation of the gospel. Make sure and let your pastor know how much you appreciate him. In times like these, our hope, our strength comes from the Lord. He's a great verse to hold onto this week. Galatians 6, 9. Don't go weary and well doing, but at the proper time you're going to reap a harvest if you don't give up. Keep on keeping on. Hey, I'm going to pray. We're going to get started. God be with us. Thank you for this privilege. Use it for your glory. Thank you for your love, your steadfast love in our lives and God help us to keep our eyes on you. I pray all this in the strong name of Jesus. Amen. Let's get started.

Joining us now is Sam Rodriguez. He's the president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, the world's largest Hispanic Christian organization. He's also lead pastor, New Season Church in Sacramento, California. Sam, welcome back. Thank you for joining me.
Sam Rodriguez
Thank you for having me, Sam.
Dr. Tim Clinton
As we get started, you know, pretty historic week. Last week in Israel, you had hostages released, some 20 of them. Families reunited, monumental peace agreement signed between the us, Israel, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey. So much more, Sam. People have been praying for a long time for that war over there to end. I know it's a little tenuous. We need to talk about where we're at and whether or not it's going to stick. But just your reflections. I know the love you have for Israel.
Sam Rodriguez
Oh, without a doubt. Can you imagine, Tim, in our lifetime, peace in the Middle East, Even that phrase, peace in the Middle east, who would have thought? And it took President Donald J. Trump again, the uniqueness of his presidency. It's not about bravado, it's about the wherewithal, the fortitude and above all, the respect. The fact that Arab and Muslim nations signed onto an accord that would dismantle Hamas forevermore. Now, we can't trust Hamas. Everyone here understands we can't trust Hamas. But there are firewalls embedded in that accord that will secure Israel's future for generations to come. Historic, without a doubt, beyond our wildest dreams. Historic again. One of the reasons why I believe God protected Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania for such a time as this.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Yeah. Said when you think about nations, nations coming together over there, that's the big deal. Everybody's coming to the table, not just nations.
Sam Rodriguez
But to have Turkey, Right. Qatar, you've got to. Are you kidding me? Some of the most rhetorically, if not geopolitically aggressive and assertive nations in the Middle east against Israel for decades, signing onto an accord that will secure the borders in the future of Israel, at the same time dismantling Hamas again. It's just this outcome really, really trumps exceeds anything that you and I ever would have projected or predicted. This has to be God ordained. It has to be God ordained. So it's a matter now of following through. I love the fact that we have Marco Rubio, a personal friend who is the Secretary of State, who is following up to make certain that the agreement is actually will come to fruition. But what an amazing outcome.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Sam, I want to jump to Charlie Kirk. You and I haven't had a lot of time together to talk about Charlie. What happened. Still in shock over what happened. We're talking a microphone in his hand. You know, what Charlie was doing out there. He loved free speech. He wanted people to get to truth. He thought that was the road to it. And let's debate. Let's get beyond emotionalism. Let's just talk straight up, call it spade to spade stuff. Let's go. And, you know, president giving the Presidential Medal of Honor, Medal of Freedom awarded to Erica. I mean, he gave it to Erica, but what would have been his 32nd birthday? Sam, just some personal reflections on all of that and where you think we're at in the country right now.
Sam Rodriguez
Yeah. You know, you and I both knew Charlie. I had the privilege of keynoting for him in his last major conference in Los Angeles in the month of August. He brought me in as a Mariano Rivera. Those that follow baseball. So he brought me in as a closer. I was the closing act, for lack of a better phrase. We had me on his podcast. His executive producer, Andrew Colby, actually worked for me before he worked for Charlie. So, yes, listen, this I know for certain Charlie Kirk debate. Let's create space for a conversation. Right? He would create that space, but it was all the end game was always about. So we can be free to preach the gospel.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Yeah.
Sam Rodriguez
So I've written opinion pieces on this. I think Charlie Kirk was this, this very stealth evangelist.
Dr. Tim Clinton
I know.
Sam Rodriguez
A political activist, a cultural reformer, societal architect. He was a stealth evangelist, my friend. Have you ever heard a time where Charlie Kirk had a debate in a college campus where Jesus was in reference? Yeah, Tim, find that out for me. Do your Google due diligence or your ChatGPT video scrutiny to find one occasion where Charlie Kirk did not reference Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Just find one. He always pointed to Jesus. He was a stealth evangelist, if not an explicit, a de facto evangelist. And his, his, his assassination results now in what? An entire generation fully activated to protecting free speech. So the gospel of Jesus can, can reach demographic Generation Z and Generation Alpha. Generation Z and Generation Alpha will know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The gospel will at least reach them freely because of the life of Charlie Kirk.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Sam, you're out in California. Governor Newsom signed AB495 out there, which really broadly talks about how they can take your kids away from you, mom and dad. They can take your kids away from you. Sam, talk to us about what in the world's in that governor's head. What in the world. What's. What's what. What's happening in California, Tim.
Sam Rodriguez
It breaks my heart.
Propane Advertiser
Here it is.
Sam Rodriguez
You ready? Oh, Governor Newsom, what did he sign? He signed a death knell regarding his political future. That's what he signed. There is no way in heaven or hell where Governor Newsom can get elected now at all whatsoever. After signing that bill, he literally gave the rights for government to take away children without any sort of confirmation regarding whether or not that person has blood relationships and so forth. This is sex trafficking, human trafficking, legalized. It is so ambiguous and so open ended. And that's the way California rolls, my friend. He just signed the end of his political career. Good luck with that. Can you imagine the commercials on the Republican side? Be it JD Vance or Marco Rubio on the ticket on the Republican side. This is easy. Governor Newsom signs the bill where government can come in and take away children regardless of any sort of blood relationship, any relationship whatsoever. All you have to say is, I know that four year old kid. I know him. I promise I know him. And take that four year old kid away. Here it is. Bye bye. Governor Newsom, it's been nice knowing your political career, my friend.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Sam, before we go, Pastor Appreciation Month, Dr. James Dobson, the late Dr. James Dobson, once said this, we need to pray the church would awaken and take her rightful place. And Sam, those words couldn't be more true than right now. And here we are in pastor appreciation month. A word from you to our pastors out there. Many who are faithful, some by the way, who waffle or weak, silent. You know that. Give us a closing thought. Yeah.
Sam Rodriguez
If every single Bible believing, Christ centered, spirit empowered pastor would rise up in America, this nation will experience the greatest awakening and revert to righteousness and justice, truth and love and affirm our Judeo Christian value system. There is no such thing as a silent pastor, a complacent pastor, a kumbaya pastor. They're just righteous pastors or unrighteous pastors. Unfortunately, we need the righteous ones. Those that are Christ centered, that believe in the following. Tim, that integrity must always be greater than influence, that anointing must always be greater than ambition. That Christ is the everything. So hopefully and prayerfully these pastors who are already out there, they will rise up driven by what took place with Charles, Charlie Kirk and other motivating factors. Let's fill America with the glory of Jesus and that's how we change the world.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Sam Rodriguez, always great to have you. Thank you for joining me.
Sam Rodriguez
Thank you my friend.

Judge now is Yuri Steinberg. Yuri is a 9th generation Israeli who served as Israel's Tourism Commissioner for North America. He's passionate about building bridges between Israel and the Christian community. Currently works as a consultant connecting Israeli and American faith based organizations. He also as director of CityServe Israel. Yuri, welcome. Thank you for joining my friend.
Yuri Steinberg
Thank you so much for having me.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Again as we get started, Yuri, you're actually in Tel Aviv right now and your responsibilities over the last few years with Israel, you were Israeli diplomat here to the United States. You're currently working with City Serve International. Just give us an update on what's been happening in your life and your role and function.
Yuri Steinberg
You know, for so many Israelis I think we can switch our lives and think about what we were before October 7th and after October 7th. So you know, I was involved in many things before October 7th, but I think October 7th for so many of us was a wake up call on various fronts but also on who am I and what do I need to do in my life. And that I think cemented my understanding of my role which is, you know, besides being a father and a husband etc. And a person of God is being a bridge builder between Christians and Jews. So I've been focused on that, being very focused on creating those bridges. And one of my delights has been to bring people here to Israel, was to bring Christians here to Israel, especially after October 7th and making sure that Israelis that feel alone in the world today more than ever. If you're a Jewish person roaming this earth, you've never feel more alone. And telling them time and time again you've got friends and those friends are coming over to help, to donate to, you know, to hug and pray for you. So that has been really much a big focus of, of what God has put in my heart.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Last week was truly historic. 20 hostages released back to families after two years in captivity. Yuri, a monumental peace agreement signed between the us, Israel, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey and more. After two years, quote, the war has finally ended. Prayers have been answered. Talk to us about what you're hearing what you're sensing in this moment. I know there's some things we needed to talk about, but how or what's the sediments there in the country? Yeah.
Yuri Steinberg
You know, an overwhelming majority is, is just overjoyed. It's not ideal. You know, Hamas has not stepped out of the stage yet, which I hope will. But I think there are several sentiments. One is just overjoy of two years of having a family, having friends, having loved ones being under attack from seven different fronts. Now putting that in our back, in our rear mirror and focusing on the post trauma and what do we need to do now is just something that we dreamed of for two years. That's the first thing. And the second thing is just, I think a spillover of this gratitude and gratitude for just Donald J. Trump. I cannot, it's hard to comprehend the amount of love that this president has now in our, in our neck of the woods when everything seemed to be in a dead end, when everything seems to be just going through this, this ongoing, non, not never ending war, he stepped up and he, he just solved it. And after years that we were just, you know, completely desperate, he, he, he brought his stamina, he's brought his decisiveness and made it happen. So, you know, you cannot think about a, a more Trump loving place around the globe than the state of Israel these days.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Well, you have a great friend in President Trump. We know that he is an ally to the end. Let me ask you about Hamas real quick. You mentioned them and what's the feeling about Hamas? People feel like this is the tenuous peace agreement. Is it going to stick? What's the expectation?
Yuri Steinberg
You know, I think we're taking it day by day. We, I think, learn to trust the instincts and the leadership of President Trump more than anyone else. Quite frankly, I think a lot of Israelis are a bit discouraged with our own leadership. And the fact that we have President Trump in the helm seems to be something that is working really well. And yet we're in the Middle east and we really are taking it day by day. We know that we've got good people who are working to unroot this, this demonic force called Hamas. And we have to be patient and we have to be patient, understand that it's not going to be a one off. So we are taking it day by day in the sense that, all right, first we got our, we got our 20 alive hostages back. Now we're getting almost every day our dead hostages back. And we can take a deep breath and understand that this fight to unroot Hamas is the next level and hopefully we'll be able to eliminate that. Understanding that it will not be. We just cannot, just cannot eradicate all the terrorists and Hamas will be gone. This will be a very, very long process which also has to do so much with de radicalization and so many things that need to go there in order for things to really change dramatically. And I think realistically thinking about several years, this needs to be the timeline or time frame in which one has to look at a complete overall and a complete dramatic change happening in Gaza Strip.
Dr. Tim Clinton
No doubt President Trump when he says, hey, listen, you better make a move over there Hamas, or we're going to come in and take everything out. There's no doubt he means business. You know that. And so let me ask you about just the people. Are the people calming down? Are they. Do you sense a kind of a, like a thermostat? You're just bringing things down a little bit and everyone's starting to sense, maybe feel that peace might be something that could happen there.
Yuri Steinberg
I don't think people are looking at peace right now. I don't think that the word peace right now is relevant or being discussed at all. What we're looking for now is just time to heal this entire region. Time to heal Even very liberal Israelis that were talking about peace in the past, something dramatic, substantial, has been broken on October 7th and living side by side and coming to terms with and living in peace with those who have proven to us time and time again that they want nothing but to eliminate us from their historical land. This will not go fast. And So I think 90% of Israelis are now focusing on what we need to do now is deal with one thing and one thing only, which is to heal, heal as families heal. As a society that has been divided and this division to some extent has brought upon us October 7th. And there's a lot of remorse in various camps in the Israeli society about what was my role in creating this weak environment and weak society that brought up those enemies that saw this weakness and understanding that we as a society, if we'll be strong, not Hamas, not Iran, not Hezbollah, no one will be able to withstand us and no one will be able to break us. So there is a lot I think of really inter Israeli societal kind of observation now about healing and about finding the middle ground and understanding that we cannot, once we start fighting amongst us, as happened before the destruction of the Second Temple, our enemies are waking up. So I think this will be, and hopefully this will be the main message and the main lesson that we come out of this entire period, Yuri, a.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Lot of organizations are wanting to help bring that healing. You're part of an organization called City Serve Israeli. Talk to us about the efforts that you're doing to help do that very work.
Yuri Steinberg
Yeah, so what we're doing, first of all, we're introducing to the Israeli people the love that Christians have for them, which is something that most Israelis have just no idea about. You know, talk about Christian, the first thing that comes to mind is the Pope. So the understanding of Christian loving Israel is something that is completely foreign to a lot of Israelis, to a lot of Jews in general. So first of all, it's creating this, hey, there are people out there who love you and want to help you out. And we're putting, you know, we've taken a sliver of the spy called Israel. And this sliver of the pie is two communities that are just three miles away from Gaza that were really hurt. And we have decided to adopt them. And adopting them, meaning it's starting from psychological treatment for kids to taking care of some needs of the security team, and now to building a sports complex with pickable courts and with basketball and football just to allow kids and the community to go back to normalcy, understanding that mainly kids, they need to go back to normalcy in order to go back and be kids again. And we were lucky to be able to bring a lot of Christian leaders here to Israel so they can see these community and these people and vice versa. So we've been very focused on that and it's been a real privilege to serve in this role.
Dr. Tim Clinton
We certainly will pray for and with you, Yuri, you know that. And if people want to learn more about maybe how they can be a part of those kind of efforts, where could they go?
Yuri Steinberg
Go to CityServe US Israel. Learn about what we do. Learn about this amazing connection that we're creating between Christians and Jews and join us. Be in touch with me. I can tell you more about what we're doing, where we're heading with it, and it's just a great privilege to be part of that.

Hey, what a wild world we're living in, Elizabeth. Last weekend we heard about this no Kings nonsense, if you will. A lot of people around the country, many of the protesters being paid, et cetera, pretty much a dud. But a couple things went viral. That teacher out of New York, the teacher out of Chicago where she pretended like she was doing that Charlie Kirk assassination thing and more. I'm telling you what, that blew up social media. It's unbelievable. Just saw too this week where Andrew Colvitt, who worked with Charlie, said that little bit of they might be kind of coming behind her. She's misunderstood all that kind of stuff. Elizabeth, you can't get away with that kind of stuff. And it goes back to our kids and the whole concern about indoctrination versus education in our school systems. Your take on all of it.
Elizabeth Johnston
Are we really surprised that Marxist teachers who believe in killing innocent preborn children are also advocating for violence against grown adult adults? I mean, this is their worldview. And it has been long understood that Marxists want to take over the educational establishments. They have successfully done that and that they want to basically become more important than families, more important than parents. And they have really made huge strides in that way. That is why Charlie Kirk's message was so important, is he was really derailing those arguments on the campuses when he would go out on his tours, was very effective at doing so. And so naturally the Marxists themselves, the teachers themselves, are upset about it and are celebrating Charlie Kirk's death. This is a worldview that is violent, that is not pro life. And you're seeing that flesh itself out.
Dr. Tim Clinton
You know, it's still hard to believe that Charlie's gone. I, I just every now and then catch myself thinking, hey, there he was with a microphone in his hand. And all he simply wanted to do was to get to truth. He wanted to use debate as the opportunity to do that, get rid of the emotionalism. Let's just talk facts. Let's go there. And Charlie was fun. He loved being married to Erica. He loved being a dad. So much more. But Elizabeth, staying up on social media Nigeria this week, just blowing up social media about what's happening over there. The AP News said that more Christians, more Christians are killed specifically for their faith in Nigeria than any other place in the world. Some 50,000 Christians in Nigeria have been killed by jihadists, and they have destroyed more than 20,000. Well, churches, schools, other institutions. It's hard to believe that this kind of stuff still happens in our world.
Elizabeth Johnston
Yeah. And are we taking note? Because we have areas, even in Texas, where I understand that Muslims are really developing strongholds in those areas, and they want to be able to teach their beliefs in our public schools. And we need to be careful. We are seeing sections in big cities like New York City, where there is just a massive number of Muslims that are doing their calls to prayer out in public. And, you know, this is America, and this country was founded on Judeo Christian beliefs. And we need to be careful that we are not allowing people with jihadist beliefs, people who want to see Sharia law come to pass in America, that they are not being allowed to be placed in, in places of power, positions of power. There's a. An election taking place right now, which is it, in New York, where the gentleman is a. A radical Muslim. And so we need to be cautious as Americans. They do, they do want to get rid of Christians, that that is what their beliefs are, and that is a risk for us.
Yuri Steinberg
Yeah.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Elizabeth, in the midst of it, you. You go back to the prior administration, the Biden Harris administration, and you think about what we were going through, the concern that was there about weaponizing systems of government against people of faith, people who had sincerely held religious beliefs, grandmas, for example, who were peacefully protesting, praying outside an abortion clinic or something like that, being thrown in jail, coming against churches, just, I mean, investigating people, tapping their phones, all kinds of things. It's like this deep state. Everybody thought, you know, it's conspiracy serious. No, this stuff was really, really happening. And in the midst of it, you know what? We've seen President Trump come in. I think people took a deep breath for a moment, and since January 20th, it's been dizzying. Everything he's been doing and getting done, it's wild. And at the same time, the pushback is coming There again, go back to that. No kings protesting. And you thought, wow, okay. And then you start thinking about what's been going on. Look at Governor Newsom here recently signs AB I think it's that Bill 495 there in California talking about how you can basically take kids away from parents. I mean with ease almost. It's like unbelievable that he would even sign something like that.
Elizabeth Johnston
Yes. It reminds me back in 2018, I was standing on the courthouse steps in Ohio warning parents that if they did not speak up loudly and boldly that kids were going to be able to be taken away from them if they do not support their transgender delusions. And, and that was in 2018, Dr. Clinton, that I was warning parents of this. And we are seeing it happen right now in 2025. Kids can be removed from parents if they do not support their non FDA transgender drugs and their transitions. And so yes, this bill is very dangerous. Many of you, and I's, our friends are, have been very vocal about this, trying to fight it and unfortunately it has passed. And hopefully the people of California will be able to get some type of control over this reversal. But again, this is the belief system and ideology of the Marxist revolutionaries who have slowly and found faithfully taken over places of influence, whether it's Congress, whether it is governorships, the schools, many of our professors, in fact, I would say most professors probably are a pretty radical Marxist. And so it is important that people of faith begin to get involved in these issues, get off of the sidelines, get on the front lines, get to your school boards, get to your city councils, run for office and begin to spread light in these very dark areas. I'm excited to see Gen Z rising up right now. Dr. Clinton, right here in Charlotte, North Carolina where you know, the refugee Irenia was brutally stabbed by a man who pretty much got nothing as a punishment for it took her life. I, I am helping Gen Z young people right now do a big event here in Charlotte. They're going to do it on Halloween night. They're going to bring light to the darkness. And I'm just seeing Gen Zers rise up all the place. Last Sunday night, my children led an outreach on the streets of Charlotte, North Carolina in uptown Charlotte. Young people are on fire right now. The devil has ever played his hand and I am so excited to see how God is raising up this next generation.
Dr. Tim Clinton
There is, there is a faith surge going on. I'm telling you, it seems like the younger generations, well, they're saying they're showing up at church more than the older generations are. Bible sales are going through the roof and so much more. I wanted to ask you, Elizabeth, transgender. I want to stay with the transgender ideology issue. There was some research that came out that said today's generations, big number, we're identifying as transgender or fluid, I guess, in that description, if you will. But recently it came out that this transgender identity stuff is declining significantly. We saw that in some research this week. I don't know if you were up to date on that or what your take is or thoughts are around that.
Elizabeth Johnston
Yes, if you go to my substack, you'll see that we just posted an article about it this week celebrating that these numbers of transgender transitions are decreasing. And this just goes to show you the power of leadership, because our leadership has made it clear that there are only two genders. This is no longer going to be a fad and something that we celebrate. We're not going to light the White House up with the. The gay flag. It is beginning to dwindle in popularity because it is longer a. A fad, a trend, a popularity symbol. And we knew that that was why it was surging. We knew that kids weren't actually transgender. And we knew that because people like Obama, who initially initiated that transgender bathroom directive, were creating a storm and a culture in which something was being celebrated that was actually not a thing and was not healthy for our children. And sure enough, now that Donald Trump is in office and. And he has made some very strong statements and taken strong positions and using his bully pulpit to. To say no to this insanity, we are seeing those numbers decrease. So this is a tremendous victory for us.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Before you go, stability in the insanity. I'm thinking about our kids. You are big on family. Have a large family. What are two thoughts that everybody should quote? Just walk away from this conversation with about how to bring stability and sanity back into our homes.
Elizabeth Johnston
The home is the answer, and I'm writing a book about it right now. We need revival in the family. And I have 10 children. And the most important part of our day is in the morning when we get up and we sit around for 30 minutes. We read a chapter of the Bible together. Every child takes two verses at a time. We pray together. I cover my children in prayer. We discuss the scriptures. It's nothing, you know, I have to pre plan. It's very casual, but it centers us around Jesus Christ. It puts a stake in the ground to the enemy. It says, as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. And I want to encourage parents everywhere to center your day every day with your children in the word of God in prayer. Do not allow the enemy to snatch your kids minds. You are their parent. You can be the most powerful influence in their life. If you decide I'm not going to acquiesce to the lies of this culture.

Dr. Tim Clinton
Hey Matt, this week social media blew up over what was happening. What's happening in Nigeria? Religious persecution According to the AP News, more Christians are killed specifically for their faith in Nigeria than in any other place in the world. Since 2009, jihadists have massacred over 50,000 Christians in Nigeria and destroyed more than 20,000 churches, schools and other institutions. Matt, it's hard to believe that the persecution of Christians is still one of the greatest challenges when it comes to religious liberty in the world.
Elizabeth Johnston
You know, here we have a lot of issues regarding discrimination, but oftentimes we lose track of what's going on with our brothers and sisters around the world and they face life and death situations. And Nigeria has been one of these places that has been one of those locations where it's been very difficult for Christians. They're targeted, they're burned, they're beheaded, they're brutalized. We have a ministry called Liberty Relief International that works with persecuted Christians around the world. And Nigeria certainly is one of those critically important places. What you see happening in some of these places is radical Islamic ideology that is attempting to wipe out anything that doesn't bow down to that particular ideology. And Christians are certainly one of the top targets. It's brutal. And the problem that we have, Tim, is that this goes on all the time and there's very little international attention to it. And I'm glad you're bringing some attention to it now because we need to stand with our brothers and sisters. Not just in prayer, obviously, we need to do that. Not just and other kinds of support for food and shelter, but we also need to put some international pressure on some of these countries where this persecution just continues to go on day after day, year after year.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Couldn't agree with you more, Matt. Stateside, it's hard to believe that we would have conversations about weaponization of systems of government against people of faith. But we saw that during the last administration. We had churches, the administration was going after churches. They were going after 75 year old grandmothers at pro life clinics where they were simply peacefully praying and so much more. They were trying to tell a coach you couldn't pray on a football field. Matt, it's unbelievable. I guess your services, you saw that years ago how important they were going to be and they're critical. Even in this hour we're going to talk. I know a little bit about the Kaylee Childs case and what's happening in therapy, Christian based therapy. But mat just a little bit on Liberty Council and what you've been doing through the years and why it's so important that pastors in particular get this and they stand behind it.
Elizabeth Johnston
Well, Liberty Council, we founded it in 1989 to advance religious freedom, the sanctity of human life and God's design for marriage and family. And it's now more necessary than ever. We've made a lot of good success. New precedent that will last for generations. A good religious freedom trend at the United States Supreme Court. But we have a long way to go. And the reason why I think it's so important is really how we started off this program with regards to the persecuted Christians in Nigeria and other places around the world. If we don't actually set the baseline for religious freedom, that exact same thing happens here. And in fact, all you have to do is look, just a few days ago at the no Kings rally, what you had at the no Kings rally was there was a person who brought a guillotine. There was a person who was simulating the assassination of Charlie Kerr. There was a place that was for Marxist socialist communists that had a sign that says, Charlie Kirk deserved it. Prove me wrong. That kind of ideology is an anti Christian ideology, and it begins to stigmatize people, demonize people. And that hatred then is focused on Christians. That's why you see the assassination of Charlie Kirk. And when we go back into the history of the Nazi Germany, they stigmatized the Jews, and then they ultimately were able to eliminate them. So that's why it's so critically important that we stand for religious freedom every single time that we have the opportunity. And every time it's challenged.
Dr. Tim Clinton
Matt, every time the Supreme Court comes into session, people are dialed into what they're looking at, what's actually made it into their docket. And one of those cases before them right now that of interest to all of us is this Colorado and the talk therapy challenges going on. Really people are trying to say it's about Colorado's ban on conversion therapy for LGBTQ minors, et cetera. Matt, can you take us into the case and what you know about it? And I know the arguments have been heard and we're going to be waiting for a decision to come down. But where you think this thing's going?
Elizabeth Johnston
Well, where I think it's going is that the Supreme Court will actually rule in favor of the Christian counselor and against Colorado and strike down these bans that are against these Christian viewpoints during counseling that ban counselors from providing and clients from receiving any counsel to overcome unwanted same sex attractions, behaviors, or gender confusion. There's about 110 of these laws that passed after the first one occurred in California in 2012. We filed the first challenge there. Then the next one was New Jersey. After that, the Supreme Court didn't take those cases. They should have back then and stopped this nonsense. But that proliferated 110 counseling bans. We ended up winning at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in the Otto case and also the Vaso case with regards to Florida laws that were very much identical and that resulted in the first victories across the country, striking down 23 of those bans. But 87 of them are still in existence. And so this case in Colorado went the other way, creating a conflict among the circuits. The Supreme Court took the case. This is a very significant case because this really is trying to ban One viewpoint and force another viewpoint counselors. Dr. Tim, as you well know, I analogize them to GPS. When you get into the car, you use the GPS to get to your intended location. You punch in the location, it navigates the traffic to get you there. That's what counselors do. You speak to a counselor, go through what's causing stress. The counselor helps to navigate through the traffic of life, through the clutter of life, to get you to the intended destination of your decision. But these laws say you can't do it. You have to force them to take puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, or go through mutilating surgeries. But what you can't do is give them hope for change to overcome these unwanted desires, behaviors and confusion. I think this particular law, however, will go down in 2026. And then what we'll have to do, Dr. Tim, is go to all the other states in cities and counties and make sure that they repeal those laws. I anticipate we'll have a fight there, too, but I am very optimistic. We'll have a great victory here.
Dr. Tim Clinton

In closing, I know these are unprecedented times. They're difficult times, they're challenging times. But I know this. God's in control and I believe he's at work. I hope you'll press in close to him in his heart and know that God loves you and he wants to be involved in your life. Our hope, our strength, especially in times like these, comes from the Lord. Here's an encouraging verse from the Bible that you could hold on to this week. Write down Galatians, chapter 6, verse 9. Don't grow weary in doing well, doing good, for in the proper time you'll reap a harvest if you don't give up. I hope you know again that you can look to God for wisdom and direction in your everyday life. And let me also say this. I've learned as a professional counselor that it's normal to have concern, maybe fear, worry, especially when life's not the way it's supposed to be, when a lot of stuff's going on around you. I've also learned if you aren't careful, it can begin to consume you, control you. It's easy to lose hope, maybe perspective. It can get so dark for some, they would feel like life would be Better off without them. I say this every week. You don't have to live like that. Simply taking a step, reaching out for help. It's often the gateway to a new day or a new you. And if you or someone you love is struggling, do that, reach out for help. There are wonderful counselors and pastors who care who can help you find maybe some of the answers and the hope that you're looking for. There are also a lot of wonderful resources available now. Lovely to connect you with some of those. You can learn more up on our website@aacc.net that's aacc.net if you'd like to find a Christian mental health leader in your area, hey, go up on our new website, ChristianCareConnect.com that's ChristianCareConnect.com you don't have a personal relationship with God in Jesus. You know what? You can do that right now by asking him to come into your life. Simply pray a prayer from your heart to God's heart. Like this. You can pray with me. Lord Jesus, I need you. I know I'm a sinner. I believe you died for my sins. I want to turn from them and invite you to come into my heart, my life. I want to trust you. I want to follow you as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for loving me, for giving your life for me in Jesus. And thank you for the gift of grace, forgiveness and the gift of eternal life of heaven. I pray all this in Jesus name. Amen. You know what I believe? I believe if you prayed that prayer from your heart to God's heart, he heard you. And you know what the Bible says in John 3:16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life. And In Romans chapter 10, verse 9 in the Bible it says if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, the Bible says this, you will be saved. The best thing you can do right now, if you prayed that prayer is commit to serving God for the rest of your life. He'll give you the strength, the direction to do it. If you're struggling with hopelessness and you would say to me, tim, it's so dark, I just don't even know how to begin. I don't even know how to pray a prayer like that. Help you pick up the phone, call someone. There's a suicide hotline available now. Dial on your phone. 988 988. That's the National Suicide prevention Lifeline. And start talking to someone. And before we go, maybe God's gifted you with a heart to help others. I hope you'll consider being a part of our Mental Health Coach First Responder Training program.
