Breaking news right now here on Real America's Voice. Unfiltered. These people are domestic terrorists and unapologetic. We're here to take a stand for God and country. Does feel good. America's Voice Live starts now. And welcome to America's Voice live. I'm Steve Grid is Tuesday 12th May, the year of our Lord 2026. Into the day's top stories. As always, thank you for joining us here in Real America's West. Appreciate seeing you here on a Tuesday. President Trump heading to China for a summit with dictator Xi Jinping of China. It's shaping up to be one of the most consequential meetings in one of the closely watched meetings in years. I'll bring on Gordon Chang to discuss that in detail. Also, South Korean Defense Minister Ahn GYU Bach was at the Pentagon yesterday for talks with Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. I'll bring on David Zier for all the latest on that as well. And then later, Marco Rubio recently returned to the US After a constructive meeting with Pope Leo regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran. This comes after a back and forth between President Trump and the Pope over the war there. All that and more coming up on today's show. But first, I want to start with something about redistricting. The Democrats, having been handed one loss after another on the congressional map, are becoming ever more unhinged and seem to be floating into the abyss with no plan except hating President Trump. That's front and center. Here is Illinois Democrat Juliana Stratton saying she's running for the U.S. senate to, quote, hold President Trump and his administration accountable. See for yourself.
Juliana Stratton
Well, it's critically important to me that we investigate and to the extent that we can hold this president and his administration accountable for their abuses of power. In Illinois, we have the Illinois Accountability Commission to address what happened with Operation Midway Blitz as ICE agents terrorized our communities. He's not always going to be president, but we have to be a check. We have to fight and we have to stand up. And that's what people deserve, that we hold this president accountable. And that's what I'm going to do when I get to the Senate.
Steve Guru
Oh, really? Despite three assassination attempts, Democrats continue their false rhetoric about President Trump. And now it seems Americans, at least some, are beginning to wake up. As the political landscape continues to shift across America and voters in key districts continue to reject the Democrats message in favor of common sense. It seems to me that the Democrat Party is struggling to adapt to a new reality of American politics. Like I said, they've been handed one loss after another in the courts. And what we're seeing now is not just political frustration. It's a full blown identity crisis playing out in real time across the national stage. And that crisis is only being amplified by what's happening right now in courtrooms and state capitals across the nation, where Democrats have recently taken a series of serious hits over the battles that for congressional redistricting. In Virginia, a Democrat backed map that was narrowly approved by voters was struck down by the Supreme Court of the state there, a major setback that undercuts their redistricting push. In fact, it pretty well kills it. At the same time, new legal and legislative moves across multiple states have continued to shift the balance of power toward Republicans. And the current round of redistricting is tilting the overall House map more favorably to the gop. Going into the midterms. You see, the Democrats aren't just dealing with policy pushback. They're dealing with a fundamental disconnect between their message and you, the voters. Yet they try to create mass hysteria about redistricting. Legal scholar Jonathan Turley on Fox News pointed out the freakout about redistricting and calls out the left saying they will pack the Supreme Court to overturn the rejection of racist congressional districts. Here's what he said.
Jonathan Turley
This SAC and PAC proposal really captures this age of rage. It captures the fact that now many on the left are saying that we will win by any means necessary. And this is a very important issue for Hakeem Jeffries. He's very unpopular with most people in the country. But he hopes to be the next speaker of the United States. But in order to do that, he's got to engineer a majority. He's got to get Democrats there in the House to vote for him. He's watching that evaporate across the country. So these radical ideas are nothing new, but I think the public needs to understand that. Many of these same voices have been saying publicly that they will pack the Supreme Court as well as soon as they take power. Many Democratic pundits and politicians have said that they want to pack the Supreme Court to create an instant liberal majority. It's the same mindset of by any means necessary, no institution is. No value is truly sacred.
Steve Guru
Now, while party leaders in Washington keep doubling down on the same talking points, voters in suburban and rural districts are signaling something different. They want results, not rhetoric, stability, not constant political firestorms. And that's why you're seeing so much energy shift around the country right now in favor of the GOP and President Trump, not just in congressional maps, but in special elections, local races, and at the state level, where turnout and messaging are starting to matter more than party loyalty. Here are two far leftists calling out Democrats for screaming elections are rigged after they said elections aren't rigged. Here it is the amount of people in politics or who follow politics closely, who are willing.
Unnamed Political Commentator 1
Who are Democrats who were immediately willing
Steve Guru
to say, rigged bias.
Unnamed Political Commentator 1
Yeah.
Steve Guru
That's exactly how Donald Trump reacts to everything.
Jeff Myers
It is.
Unnamed Political Commentator 1
You are literally adopting Trump.
Steve Guru
Yeah. It's remarkable.
Jeff Myers
It's like, can you hear yourself?
Unnamed Political Commentator 1
And, you know, I don't want to sit here and say, I told you so, but this is exactly what I feared with the second Trump term, is that there'd be a group of Democrats who will now say, he's changed the rules. Let's play by his rules now. And you're like, no, I mean, look, go ahead and do it, but don't be surprised when voters sort of decide. Man, you guys are full of too.
Steve Guru
Yep.
Unnamed Political Commentator 1
And you guys aren't serious about the democracy. No. You just are trying to rig it in your direction.
Steve Guru
Correct.
Unnamed Political Commentator 1
And all you're doing is strengthening Trump's argument and Trump's grip.
Steve Guru
Chuck Todd, usually an embarrassment, but he was right there. I couldn't have said it better myself. The Democrats truly are strengthening President Trump's argument. Just because you aren't satisfied with the results of an election doesn't mean that it's rigged, and it doesn't mean that you get to assassinate said political opponent or call for more violence. Or any violence at all. And that brings me to the broader question where political influence is even coming from in this day and age. It's coming from live streams, podcasts, social media platforms, often without any editorial filters at all or any context for that matter. One of those individuals, of course, is Hassan Piker, who has been outspoken against President Trump as well as ICE and immigration enforcement and law enforcement in general. It's all thanks to rhetoric like this that there has been anti ICE riots, anti Israel riots, and now three assassination attempts on the President of the United States. Now it seems Piker is taking his one man hate tour on the road with Democrats all over America. He's showing up to campaign with them. Here's an example.
Unnamed Political Commentator 2
What's your vision for abolishing ICE?
Unnamed Political Commentator 3
Yeah, I mean, it's just that we abolish ICE. This is an agency that started in what, like 2003, like this? We had immigration enforcement before ICE existed. We'll have it after it exists. But the thing that I don't think we talk enough about is also what that reform is gonna look like. Abolishing ICE is just one step. Right. Democrats have been in multiple times over the last few decades and did nothing to address the immigration reform that we
Unnamed Political Commentator 2
actually Spice expenditures, increase spending.
Steve Guru
Exactly, yeah.
Unnamed Political Commentator 3
And so if we're. I think there has to be an immediate pathway for every single undocumented immigrant that's here in this country today that does not require them to shell out thousands of dollars to go through the process for it to take decades at a time to be able to get to citizenship, an immediate pathway to citizenship, and then just reallocating those resources where they need to be right
Gordon G. Chang

Steve Guru
country this politically charged. And when we're coming up on the midterms, the kind of rhetoric that Hasan Piker pushes has been the type of catalyst that has sent many Americans running for the hills. Americans who don't believe in political violence or politically motivated attacks. Like I said, the American people seem to be waking up in some areas. And what this really tells you is that the modern political information war isn't just happening in Congress or in courtrooms anymore. It's happening in real time online, where influence is instant, unfiltered, and often unaccountable. I believe that's why the American people don't take the left seriously anymore. Even longtime Democrats are taking aim at their own party. For example, here is Bill Maher ripping the left for just being goofy.
Bill Maher
When people say to me, you know, don't you think you've gotten more conservative No, I haven't. The left has gotten goofier.
Steve Guru
Yes.
Bill Maher
So I seem more conservative, maybe, but. But, like, it's not me who changed.
Steve Guru
Yes.
Bill Maher
I feel I'm the same guy. But five years ago, you know, we hadn't spent $6 trillion to stay home. I mean, I understand we had to do something with the pandemic. I'm not sure that was, you know, I mean, I remember when a trillion dollars was too much to spend on anything. We didn't spend a trillion to bail out the economy in 2008. So we didn't do that five years ago. No one was talking about abolishing the police. You know, there was no talk about, you know, pregnant men. You know, I mean, there was just. Looting was still illegal.
Steve Guru
Right.
Jeff Myers
You know, isn't that crazy?
Bill Maher
There was just. There's so like, have I changed? No, because if someone had said 20 years ago, I'm not sure looting is a bad thing, I would have opposed it then. See, I. So I haven't changed.
Steve Guru
As we head toward another high stakes election season, Democrats become ever more distant from the American people. And that's why we're seeing what we are seeing fair and honest. Redistricting and a political shift to the party that truly knows what it means to be American. We'll keep an eye on it for you. The redistricting battles will continue and the results will continue to have Democrats setting their own hair on fire. And that's the monologue coming up after the break. President Trump has departed en route to China for his major meeting with the Chinese dictator Xi Jinping. I'll ask what we could expect to see from the meeting this week and what President Trump should hammer down on with a special guest. Up next,

President Trump is wheels up on his way to China for a high stakes summit with dictator Xi Jinping. And it's shaping up to be one of the most closely watched diplomatic meetings. Well, in several years, to be honest. The agenda spans trade tensions, technology, competition, Taiwan, and of course, growing concerns tied to Iran and global security. Adding to the significance, a major US Business delegation is traveling with the President as well, including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Apple CEO Tim Cook and a host of others. At the center of it all is a push to stabilize relations between the world's two largest economies while still protecting U.S. strategic, strategic and economic interests. Especially while the conflict with Iran continues to drag on. The outcome could ripple through global markets, supply chains and the future of tech competition between Washington and Beijing. Join me to discuss lawyer, political commentator and author of the book Plan Red, Gordon G. Chang. Gordon, nice to see you today. You are the right person to have talking to us today. Thank you for taking time.
Gordon G. Chang
Oh, well, thank you, Steve. I really appreciate it.
Steve Guru
Well, let's talk about this. This is the first time that the President has gone to China since his first term, 2017, as I recall, a lot of things on the, on the list as I talked about there. What do you think is the biggest priority for Donald Trump when he meets with Xi Jinping?
Gordon G. Chang
The Iran war. It is either the most important, but clearly it's the most immediate. We have China supporting Iran across the board with everything except for combat personnel. So the United States needs to get China out of that. And that's going to be a very difficult task. And the reason is that the United States has a lot on the line. We have got to prevail. You know, I don't agree with the Atlantic that catastrophic loss would be irreversible. But a catastrophic loss is possible. And so President Trump needs to prevail. Now, Trump can prevail. I think he will prevail. But to do that, we need to get the Chinese out of the scene.
Steve Guru
Catastrophic loss. Define that and what you mean by that, Gordon.
Gordon G. Chang
It means that the United States doesn't prevail in Iran. We lose all of our friends in the Middle east that attacks the dollar and countries around the world desert the United States because they believe that we cannot be strong, and they'll see China as the dominant power of the 21st century. That's, you know, that's pretty catastrophic. So, you know, I think that important here for the United States to exert power in a way that protects our interests and the interests of our friends and allies. We can do that. As I said, I think President Trump will do that because I think he understands it. This was not a war that was going to be popular, and President Trump undertook it. It means he's determined. It means that he is looking out for us. And this is an important departure because previous presidents just kicked the can down the road. And that's why this is such a serious situation. By the way, Steve, the Iranians, I think, have a ballistic missile that can hit any part of the United States. So we're not talking about something which is a war over there. This could be a war over here.
Steve Guru
Wouldn't that be a dramatic change of events? We'll see if that's true, Gordon. I'm sure. UAE and Qatar, among others, now, though, turning on Iran. UAE has been doing secret military attacks on the Iranians. Qatar is now warning the Iranians not to use the Strait of Hormuz as an economic weapon. And look for China. This is another setback. Venezuela was a setback when Trump took out the dictator there back on January 2nd. This is another one because it impacts the flow of black market oil to Beijing, doesn't it?
Gordon G. Chang
Yes, it does. And this is becoming critical for China because they get somewhere between 45 to 50% of their seaboard foreign imports of crude oil through the Strait. And China is the largest importer of crude oil in the world. China has been supporting Iran. Iran has a nuclear weapons program. The reason why we're fighting in the first place because of China, which supplied that equipment, materials, technology, either directly or indirectly. So China has an enormous stake there. And after the loss of Venezuela and after a probable loss of Cuba, China is being beaten up. And we have President Trump to thank for that because this was inconceivable during the Biden years that we would be taking out China's proxies around the world.
Steve Guru
Yeah. Let's talk about some of those ongoing issues beyond the war AI. There's a war going on over AI in this world. The United States building data centers as fast as they can. We are, and some people agree, some people disagree. What is your take on this AI battle and how critical is it? And are we going too fast into the darkness, or do we have a plan? Here,
Gordon G. Chang
the struggle for AI dominance is the struggle for the 21st century, so we cannot fail. And Bernie Sanders, couple, a week and a half ago, had that event in Washington, D.C. where he had Chinese scientists tell us that we need to have some sort of agreement with China. Now, that would be nice, but we have to have some history here. President Biden, when he met Xi Jinping in Woodside, California, November 2023, raised AI with the Chinese. And the first of the initiatives was to get the Chinese. Very simple, to get the Chinese to agree not to have AI launch nuclear weapons. Everybody can agree that a machine should not start an Armageddon. The Chinese wouldn't even talk to us about that, Steve. So while it'd be nice to talk to China about AI, I'm not sure that that's the way to go. The way to go is to have America dominate AI and have our researchers and our politicians and our leaders set the guidelines that the rest of the world adopts not to come to some agreement with China that China will never enforce.
Steve Guru
Yeah. You know, which brings me to one of the places that I disagree with President Trump, and that's allowing 700,000 Chinese students into this country annually. He says if we don't, universities and colleges will go out of business. And I say, and so it is. But we have 700,000 people here, an army of Chinese nationals that are stealing everything they can. AI technology, pharmaceutical technology, high tech technology. You just go right down the list. Gordon, you know that I think it's a mistake by the President to just keep those doors wide open. Your thoughts?
Gordon G. Chang
Oh, I couldn't agree with you more, Steve. And that raises the other issue that had been discussed in the last couple days, and that is President Trump talking about allowing $1 trillion of China's investment into the United States. China already has bases of subversion here. We don't need any more. You know, we've got, for instance, these Chinese biological weapons facilities. We found two of them, but there's obviously at least one more. We do not need more Chinese agents running around our country. So this is important for us to make sure that we do not give the Chinese an even greater infiltration routes into American society.
Steve Guru
Yeah, they've already done that. They're using the Northern Marianas Islands and other places to do birth tourism so they can have Chinese babies on American soil, that they're American citizens, they go home to China for 18 or 20 years, they can come back, they can join the military, they can become police officers, they get involved in politics. That's Also a very dangerous thing that needs to be addressed, but we seem to ignore it. I want to get to one more thing here, Gordon, that came up my radar just recently. And I want you to address this. That's the underwater cables that pretty much control 99% of our economy here in America. And mysteriously, several around Taiwan recently have been damaged. I don't think it's any coincidence at all. I think that China is probing what they could do to disconnect America from the rest of the world and our economy and our military ability and our communications. How critical are these underwater cables that carry on all this information?
Gordon G. Chang
Oh, absolutely critical. The Russians were destroying cables, cutting cables. The west didn't do anything about it. So the Chinese said, well, why don't I do it? So, you know, this is a sort of feeble American policy has now created a bigger problem. And so we have got to impose costs on China and those costs have to be severe. They've got to be greater than the benefits that the Chinese have gotten gotten from cutting these tables. You know, people don't want confrontation. But the point is if you allow the bad actors to engage in these acts without confronting them, then they'll just continue on. So yeah, we got to do that. And by the way, on the Northern Marianas Islands, this is something Congress can stop because we got visa free entry into the Northern Marianas. This is up to Congress. Congress has considered this and refused to close that loophole. Steve, this is on us.
Steve Guru
It certainly is. Gordon G. Chang. The book is Plan Red. You can find that at all good book retailers. I suggest you read it. Nobody does more work on China and what they're up to than Gordon Chang. Gordon can also be found on axe. Gordon G. Chang, sir, always very informative. Thank you.

Steve Guru
Thank you, sir. All right, after the break. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth welcomed South Korea's Minister of Defense to the Pentagon yesterday. Held a meeting today as well. David Ziel will join me after the break to discuss what's going on right here on America's Voice Live.

I heart radio. Well, the South Korean Defense Minister Angubak was at the Pentagon yesterday and today for high level defense talks with the Defense Secretary, Secretary of War Pete Hag said, discussing the US relinquishing wartime operational control of South Korean forces by 2029. They also discussed South Korean support for freedom of navigation in the state of Hormuz as South Korea gets about 70% of its oil from the Middle east through the strait. Here discuss real America's Voice correspondent and host of Breaking Point, David Z. David, you've been on location there at the Pentagon as always. Bring us up to speed, my friend.
David Zier
Yes, good afternoon, Steve. A very important meeting, right. South Korea gets about 70% of its fossil fuel products from the Gulf. They've been moving away from it since last October. It's very critical that we shore up our relations. Pete Hegseth, Secretary of War has been urging them to take part in the maritime operations to secure the Strait of Hormuz. As you know, they're the ones who benefit from the free flow of oil over there. But this was an important meeting for other reasons also. One, we're helping them build a nuclear submarine, at least giving them the energy plant, I believe, or the technology to do so. But it comes on the heels as North Korea has announced it has a new ship that could have nuclear tipped missiles. Right. Not good off the coast of Korea or the coast of Japan could be a big threat. But they also recently changed their constitution to get rid of integration with South Korea. They're moving away. It sounds like they're ramping up their behavior to create, you know, some adversity, maybe other, you know, motives here. But also they concentrated Kim Jong Un's power according to the constitutional changes to have more control over the use of nuclear weapons. So a lot of reasons why they met very important timing here, especially with Trump going to China.
Steve Guru
Yeah. You know, South Korea has not gotten involved at all in clearing the state of Hormuz. My understanding that's got to be a point of contention between the United States and South Korea. What did you learn on that front?
David Zier
Well, it's important because on May 4, the Namu was the target of some airborne unidentified objects that caused the fire on the top of the cargo ship. It had to go to Dubai in the UAE for repairs. They have two dozen more ships stranded in the Persian Gulf which have not transversed the Strait of Hormuz, according to the latest that I've seen. And I just wanted to add One thing about the opcon, you know, the shift of the US Command to South Korea is really important. It goes back to like 2015. We've been there for what, 70 years?
Steve Guru
Right.
David Zier
It's really important because that has slowed down and we're trying to get this done in time for the end of Trump's second term by 2029. Very important that they can defend themselves. Themselves. Right. We have about 28,000 troops there now, but it's, I think it's timely that they take control of their own operations.
Steve Guru
So that would save the United States military, I would think, a considerable amount of money. I mean, I read at one point, David, the dmz, if a war started between the north and the south, the life expectancy of a soldier there in the DMZ was about 30 seconds. No exaggeration. It's a dangerous place for anybody to stand. And my question is, why do we continue having Americans stand there since that conflict ended in what, 1953?
David Zier
Yeah, I think officially since 1957, as far as the US and the UN taking over operations. But we've been there since 1950. We were actually there right after World War II. Really important. But the relationship is important as not to sour it because we do 242 billion in trade annually with South Korea. They're our seventh largest trading partner. And we export 65 billion in goods. They bring over here about 130 billion or so because they have automobiles and other technology. But it's very, very important as they seek to be more energy independent. They get 60% of their electricity generation from oil. They need this right now until they come up with more nuclear energy, which provides about 30% of their power output in the country. And strategically, it's really important for us not to make any premature moves to leave the region. But yeah, I get it. And we could probably save many billions of dollars and US Lives in case things go south over there.
Steve Guru
There you have it. David, thank you for being here. As always, good conversation. All right. Secretary of State Marco Rubio back from the Vatican after what he's calling a construction meeting with Pope Leo XIV while the Trump administration continues to press a hard line message on the Iranian regime. All of it coming amid a notable back and forth between the Pope and the President over how the west should handle Iran with the Vatican pushing for restraint while President Trump has stressed consequences if Iran doesn't come to a deal. And soon join me to discuss the president of Summit Ministries, Dr. Jeff Myers. Jeff, nice to see you. Obviously, there's been strained relationships on different comments back and forth from the president, from the Pope. They seem to have tempered it a little bit, but I don't think there's any love lost between these two. Your thoughts?
Jeff Myers
I think you're probably right. Pope Leo and Donald Trump are the two most powerful men in the world and when they get into a spat, of course it gets everybody's attention. You know, the other day on my podcast Truth Changes everything, I had Dr. Paul Kingor, who you know from Grove City College, a great guy, you know, anti communist guy, Reagan scholar, conservative, but he's Catholic. And we, I said look what's going on with with all of this. And he said, you've got to understand the nature of what the Catholic Church is focused on at this moment. They don't want anybody to have nuclear weapons. And there's a long tradition of saying, let's try to figure out a way to get out of this conflict before everyday people are being hurt. Donald Trump's perspective, on the other hand, is, well, look, they killed 40,000 of their own people in Iran. They obviously don't care about life. We seem to be the only ones who do. And so, you know, is it a religious conflict? I think it's just a conflict between two people who both want this war to end. But thoughts about how that should actually
Steve Guru
happen, I agree with that. The Iranians, however, do one thing exceptionally well. They lie. We've known that your entire adult life and mine. So when you negotiate with these people, I, I don't know what you can trust, because one day they'll say one thing, the next day it's 180 degrees out of phase. How do you get to an agreement when you don't? On the battlefield, you have this assumption that your opponent is sane. Right? That's been the way you approach a battle. And if your opponent is sane, they'll know when to surrender. I don't know that we have that right now, Jeff.
Jeff Myers
No, I certainly don't think we do. I, I mean, look, the White House is doing all of the right in trying to bring in regional partners. They're talking to Qatar, which sometimes is good for the United States and sometimes not. They're talking to, you know, they're, they're talking to the uae, obviously, you know, they, they're working with Israel, but they're trying to figure out what, who can talk to who, what is, who's in charge in Iran, who actually is in charge, and how do you get to the place where you can have some truth? No, it's never easy. Do you remember, see, back in the 19, the 1970s, Israel and Egypt formed a peace agreement. Nobody ever thought that could happen, but they formed it not because they actually trusted each other, but because they realized what they are against is more draws them together. And so they had a common enemy. Well, how are you going to do that with Iran? It does seem as if they're going to have to be completely defeated and a new regime is going to have to come into power there that's willing to talk to preserve their country. But I think you're exactly right. This has been the issue with Iran. I've been saying this for four years now. They are Apocalyptic. They don't care if they die and if everybody else dies. So it's a very difficult situation. And, you know, all we know from Pope Leo is what he says in an occasional. Like, there's one press gaggle where he spoke for like 30 seconds. It was in Italian, and it gets translated in English. And CNN's translation and interpretation, they're not all what was said in that. In that. So it's very difficult. You got these crazy levels of communication, even between languages, between the White House and the, and the Vatican. Yeah, it wasn't really a summary kind of sentence, but it is a mess. It's very hard.
Steve Guru
And real quickly, just give me your assessment of Pope Leo. To me, he seems like another progressive Pope. I don't think that's what the Catholic Church needed. I'm not Catholic, but as an observer, I think it maybe wasn't what they needed. I think maybe somebody that was more strict in the doctrine might have been a better choice. I mean, a conservative pope, if you will, maybe from South America, but this guy's going to be there for many years, it would seem, because he's not very old, comparatively speaking. So maybe they could have been more conservative. Give the last word to you.
Jeff Myers
We've got about a year in to kind of see where things stand, what we've seen so far with Pope Leo. And again, I'm not saying this as a Catholic, I'm just looking at it as an observer. We have Pope Leo specifically, specifically and intentionally in a number of key areas, taking a stand against the way Pope Francis had done things. So it. To say that he's progressive, I'm not so sure. You know, maybe he's sort of a moderate Republican kind of guy, conservative. I mean, certainly when he was in Illinois, he always voted in the Republican primary. He's that kind of a guy. But you can't say that. The, you know, the Pope is never going to say, I think nuclear weapons are a good idea. The Pope is never going to say, yeah, let's, let's have wars and just kind of fight it all out. So it's very. There's just so much that's yet to be seen. People who really want to look into it a little bit more. I'd recommend Paul Kingor's book on Pope Leo. It is really helpful. It's the only biography that I know of that's come out so far about the man. It might give you a little bit to think about. There's much to like, maybe a lot to be concerned about as well, and time will tell.
Steve Guru
I guess we'll find out. Jeff, always appreciate talking to you, my friend. Thank you.
Jeff Myers
Thanks, Steve.

Well, we're being told the economy is strong, but Americans are posting videos showing the sticker shock they're seeing at grocery stores across the nation. How expensive is it out there? I haven't seen it this bad myself. Maybe you have. And have you seen this? Watch for a moment.
Don Nguyen
$7 for 10 slices of cheese.
Steve Guru
I need to get the out of the US $75 for three steaks?
Jeff Myers
Do you think that's ridiculous? Last week I was here, it was
Steve Guru
$70 for three steaks, not 75. Because I'm looking for some ground beef for my lasagna and also for my spaghetti. I found this. The ground beef. Why is it $30.5.99 for a regular sized bag of Doritos? Are you freaking kidding me? I told my nephew, go, go pick all your favorite juice. But 99.10 we got water at the crib. Let's go.
Body by Jake Radio Announcer
This used to be 3 to $4.
Steve Guru
This is 9.29 for a case of sodas.
Jonathan Turley
Look at this. 3.29 for a regular Hershey's bar.

10 pretzels in there, right?
Steve Guru
$25, dude. Go yourself. Well, I. I guess he's not a pretzel buyer. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he's not a buyer today at 20 whatever dollars for 10 pretzels. Look, $75 for three steaks? They weren't even prime. It'd be a hundred dollars. They were prime for three sticks. All right, so what are you seeing out there? I am curious where you live. And give me a couple of staples. Milk, eggs, cheese, bread, whatever. Where it was, say, five years ago and where it is today. I mean, look, Covid did a lot of damage, and the lingering effects are still here today. And I'm concerned with what you're paying out there because with prices like that, it's getting tougher out there. All right? Oil prices continue to fluctuate. As of noon, Brent crude trading at. At $107.77 a barrel. Natural gas dropped at $2.20. Carlyle Group senior advisor Jeff Curie told Bloomberg a major energy crunch could be on the way before you know it. Listen to what he says. It's a warning.

When do storage tanks run empty?
Unnamed Political Commentator 2
Your parts of the world, like Australia, Philippines, Thailand, you are. But the question is when and when. I still say that with you, it's going to be sometime in the month of May that you're going to end up with Europe hitting tank bottoms. And in the US it's somewhere in that July 4th time period, if not sooner. By the way, the inventories number coming out of the US the ones we got last night, the ones last week, I've never seen anything like that before. And I think that it's important to remember that these inventory numbers. Let's define terms a deficit versus a shortage. We have a deficit today, meaning that demand is above supply and we're drawing inventories. It's not a shortage yet. So to answer your question, you have the shortages in places like, you know, Asia, and it's not that bad yet because you're not completely at tank bottoms. But in places like Europe and the United States, you're in a deficit. And you don't. You don't hit the shortages until you hit tank bottoms.
Steve Guru
All right, well, here is the concern that I have, and I share with you. We are now exporting record amounts of oil and gas and diesel. So both raw product and finished products. Five and a half million barrels a day going out of the United States of oil plus gas and diesel. Maybe there's a way to retain it here in the United States and get yours cost under control. Just a thought from your humble correspondent. When there are supply constraints on commodities, prices surge. You saw it with fuel prices like we were just talking about there the troubles with the state of Hormuz. Another commodity that's limited.
Gordon G. Chang
