This is an iHeart podcast. Welcome in to Turning Point tonight. We are going to have a fantastic conversation with one of my favorite senators. Coming up in just a little bit. Also, we won another win for the conservatives as we check the box of got rid of it. The ADL said something awful and now they've gotten rid of the thing that we were all complaining about, which is fan fantastic. And apparently you can be an employee of the government making $300,000 a year and be an illegal immigrant to this country. You can't tell me that those people aren't also voting. All that more coming up on this episode of Turning Point tonight. My name is Joe. Bob. Thanks so much for tuning in. Together we are charting the course of America's cultural comeback through mockery and ridicule of the left's terrible ideas. This is Turning Point tonight. Obviously, before we get to any of those stories, I have the wonderful honor of introducing and chatting with one of my favorite senators, great constitutionalist Senator Ted Cruz. Senator Ted Cruz, first of all, thank you so much for joining us and really appreciate your continued support for Turning Points. Appreciate you taking the time.
B
Very glad to be with you. Appreciate everything you guys are doing. It makes just a huge difference.
A
Thank you so much. Now, just for our viewers, I recognize there is a government shutdown happening. It could be over by the time this airs or it could be lasting another three weeks. I think people have heard enough about it today. So we want to get to some kind of, I guess, more broad strokes question. And I want to start off broadly here. Since Charlie Kirk's assassination, it has appeared to me with the people that I talked to in real life that it is kind of illuminated the fact that Charlie's ideas were a lot more mainstream than a lot of people think. I think Peggy Noonan in the Wall Street Journal something similar that like 80% of the country is starting to realize that 20% who are very loud are actually controlling the narrative in so many ways. Is that something that you feel, and I recognize this is an anecdotal question, so we're gonna need to get an anecdotal answer. That's something that you feel when you talk to constituents. And is it really impacting anything in the halls of the Senate the way that your colleagues are viewing? Holy cow. A lot more of our constituency seems to be a little bit more conservative than we might have thought.
B
So let me say yes on the first question and no on the second. Listen, I think with the American people, there's a real reservoir of common sense and that's one of the things that Charlie appreciated. It's one of the real values of Turning Point is going on to college campuses. I think young people are eager to hear the truth. And some of that is driven by the fact that I think in recent years, we've seen the left, we've seen the Democrat Party really get radicalized. And I think that started with the election of Donald Trump in 2016, that they hate him so much that it drove him to Looney Tune. And where we are today, if you pick a dozen issues that are 80, 20 issues, it seems today's Democrat Party has decided, let's go embrace the 20% side or even sometimes 90, 10 issues. So, you know, border security, it used to be. I was first elected to the Senate in 2012. When I got here, Democrats would say all the time, we should secure the border. You can pull up speeches. We've all seen speeches of Chuck Schumer or Hillary Clinton or Joe Biden saying, we should secure the border. Today, every Democrat was for the open borders we had over the last four years for 12 million people that invaded this country. That is a wildly unpopular policy position. That is a 20% or 10% issue you look at. Even after Trump was reelected, we've seen legal border crossings drop 99%. And what are Democrats doing? They're getting on a plane, they're flying down to El Salvador and having daiquiris with a gang banger human trafficker. Now, that's a weird political decision to say, you know what? I want to go home. I want to go home and tell suburban moms, if you elect me, I'll bring more gang bangers and murderers and human traffickers into your neighborhood with your kids like that. You don't have to be a political Nostradamus to know that's not the best campaign issue. They keep doing this over and over and over again. Abolish the police. That is a dumbass idea. Normal, rational people don't look around and go, you know what we need to do? Just get rid of all cops and let criminals run wild. Like, like people who are not idiots. Don't want to do that. That has done a real favor because it lets Donald Trump. It lets Republicans be the party of common sense. Like, you know, I was just reelected in Texas and my campaign, I said, all right, what do I want to do? I want low taxes, low regulations, lots of small businesses growing, and lots of jobs. I want to secure the border, support law enforcement so we keep our families safe, and I want to protect our Constitutional rights, free speech, religious liberty, the Second Amendment. That is an eminently common sense position. And I think Charlie got that. And he would go on to college campuses and engage, engage with people on the left, but do it with a smile, do it with laughter and common sense and empathy. Look, some of the best exchanges that Charlie had were with someone who say, is transgender and is struggling with it. And Charlie could be empathetic, didn't just immediately respond by hitting the person over the head with a stick and saying, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. But saying, tell me more about what's going on in your life and why you see it that way. I think all of that is beneficial and we need a lot more of it.
A
Well, I don't know about you. The kitchen table issue in my household is I want to make sure that Maryland father is free. That's the only thing my wife and I talk about. Of course, I think that's what's going around the entire country. It seems like, yeah, the left is continuing to believe everything on X formerly Twitter, and think that that's represents the entirety of the country. More specifically, you've introduced a bill pre Charlie Kirk's assassination of trying to figure out where these violent protesters are getting the resources to engage in violent protest. I've been wondering this, the whole thing, this whole time, can you explain why there wouldn't be investigations? The types that you're trying to introduce to follow the money and where people are getting gas masks, where they're getting these materials to riot and burn down cities.
B
Look, I hope and believe that DOJ and FBI are actively investigating that right now. I have been urging for years, follow the money, go to the source. And let's rewind. During the Biden administration when we saw antisemitic protests at college campuses all over the country, those were not organic. They didn't just spring up out of nowhere. I'm not the only person who noticed that almost all of the tents matched that. The radicals who are threatening students and harassing students are all wearing matching vests. There's clearly money behind it. By the way, you rewind to the Black Lives Matter and antifa riots all across the country as the country lit on fire. There was clearly money behind that. You look at the riots earlier this year in LA for open borders that were then replicated in other cities. There was clearly money behind that. And when Biden was president, I urged the DOJ follow the money. And they wouldn't do so. And I think the reason they wouldn't do so is they actually supported the rioters. They were rooting for the protesters and the rioters. And by the way, at the time that was happening on college campuses, it was fashionable to say, well, gosh, this is happening everywhere. It's terrible. And my response is, wait a second. No, it's not. This is happening in blue states with Democrat governors. This is happening in New York, in Connecticut, in Pennsylvania, it's happening in Illinois, it's happening in California, it's happening in Washington state. It ain't happening in Florida, it ain't happening in Texas. Texas. They tried to riot at the University of Texas. Cops showed up, arrested them all, and it was over in one day. Because you actually had elected officials who said, we're gonna protect the students. You don't have a right to harass and threaten the safety of your fellow students. And if you do, you will be arrested. And by the way, when they arrested them, they discovered at UT more than half of them had no connection to ut. They weren't students, they were agitators that came in from the outside. Yeah, the Biden DOJ would not follow the money because I think much of the money is coming from the same people who fund Joe Biden and the Democrats, so George Soros, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. I think there's also money likely coming from foreign nations like Qatar, like Iran, like China. I think there's a combination of foreign enemies who hate us and want to sow division and local communists and anarchists who hate us and wanna sow division. And if you wanna shut it down, part of it is go and arrest anyone. All of these anti ICE protesters and rioters who engage in violence, every one of them ought to be put in jail if you engage in violence and threaten others. But if you really wanna stop it, you gotta go after the money. You gotta cut off the money. And so that's what I've urged both Pam Bondi and Kash Patel to do, is prosecute the people writing checks that are funding this domestic terrorism. Because that's what this is, is domestic terrorism.
A
Well, and considering how often the libs claim that right wing violence is a big issue, you'd think they'd get on board with this stuff too, because, hey, you know, all political violence is bad. And I think we could all agree on that. But there's one side that's accusing without evidence, the other side that seems to be more prominent on. On the lib side of the aisle. Speaking of protests.
B
Right.
A
We, we've obviously seen so many protests around the country in support of terrorist organizations like Hamas. What we don't see on college campuses is any uproar or any uprising against an actual genocide going on in Nigeria. You've talked about this at length. Tens of thousands of Christians being killed. Tens of thousands of Christian churches being shut down by the Nigerian government, by the way, not just some organization that's attacking the government. What can. What can we do to kind of bring more attention to that? I mean, Bill Maher talked about it on his show last week, and he's no conservative by any stretch of the imagination, but he understands consistency. What is it that you're trying to do in regards to the Nigeria situation and how can we bring attention to that?
B
Well, look what's happening in Nigeria. It is an absolute horror. It is mass murder. Since 2009, more than 52,000 Christians have been murdered in Nigeria. And you have jihadists who are persecuting. They are kidnapping little girls. They're going and murdering. They're going to Christian towns and they're murdering entire families and systematically persecuting them because of their Christian faith. We've had over 20,000 churches and religious institutions burned or destroyed. I mean, it is an absolute campaign of oppression. It's carried out by terrorist groups, by jihadist groups like Boko Haram, but it's also carried out by the government. There were 12 regional governments in Nigeria that have on the book sharia law and blasphemy laws. And so the government will persecute you if you dare believe in Jesus Christ as your lord and savior. And this is. We ought to stand against it. I've introduced legislation that would impose strict sanctions on the Nigerian government, on any Nigerian government official that participates in enforcing Sharia law or blasphemy laws, that targets and persecutes Christians. And we have enormous leverage by imposing sanctions and imposing sanctions in a way to change their behavior and stop this mass murder.
A
Senator Cruz, thank you so much. This. Well, so just so you know, Charlie set this show up to be kind of a more satirical and snarky take on the news of the day. It airs very late at night. So I appreciate you taking some. Some serious questions. A somewhat comical question considering that the federal government is shut down. Is there any way, and I will accept probably as an. Or maybe as an answer that. That you would consider introducing a bill that prorates my income tax so long as the federal government is shut down? I feel like that would be a fair.
B
Okay, I think that's a damn good argument. But I have to confess, if we pass it you might suddenly have Republicans agree with the Democrats. We want to shut it down. And by the way. All right, so you and I are doing this. It's October 1st. The government has been shut down since 12.01am Let me ask you, is your life massively, materially different other than, you.
A
Know, stepping over the piles of dead bodies in the streets on the way to the studio, which of course happens when the government shuts down.
B
No, actually, I mean, tell me, at 12:01am did you wake up in your bed screaming that somewhere there's a bureaucrat not getting a paycheck?
A
You know, I can't say that I did.
B
Look, the nightmare for every Democrat is what happens if the government shuts down and nobody notices. And that really is. Look, they're the party of government. It's all about government power. Listen, this shutdown will wrap up. Eventually it will wrap up. So the Democrats say they're doing it because they want healthcare for illegals, which again is wildly unpopular. We're talking about 80, 20 issues. Let's pick a 20% issue and say we're going to shut down your government so we can pay for free health care for people here illegally. That, by the way, we let in illegally because we want more Democrat voters. That's wildly unpopular. But here's the truth of it is that's a lie. That's not actually why they shut the government down. They shut the government down because their left wing base is angry. And Chuck Schumer is a wuss. He's scared. A couple of months ago when Congress kept the government open, Schumer agreed to do so. And the left wing base got furious. And Schumer is looking over his left shoulder and AOC is chasing him. And Schumer is scared of a little girl. He's scared of a communist bartender from New York City who's gonna primary him. And so Schumer shutting the government down for one purpose. To say, see how much I hate Donald Trump, Me Tarzan, Eugene. Rawr. Like it's so they have no ask. And so when will this end? I don't know. Whenever Schumer ends his temper tantrum, Whenever he's demonstrated to the crazies. And these are the same idiots that are rioting in LA for open borders and rioting on campuses for Hamas. So I'm not sure when you ever assuage Marxist idiots. But this is a Schumer shutdown and a temper tantrum. And that's what's really going on. And I gotta say, we're only A day into it. But you can see in the eyes of the Democrats, they're like darting around and they know, crap, this is not going well. Because even the useful idiots that is the corporate media, there's no way to pitch this other than we're shutting the government down because Democrats are mad. And so it's a strange world we live in.
A
Senator, I hope you are enjoying as much as I am. Them on the lefty news channels trying to drum up. Okay, well, inflation numbers are gonna come out next week. And if the government is shut down, what if people don't get their inflation numbers to which the American populace goes, okay, we'll be fine, thank you.
B
Somehow we will survive. Look, look, a little bit of just facts. Government shutdown is a misnomer. And actually I've got my 14 year old daughter' texting me all day. Okay, what's the shutdown? What does that mean? Why is it happening? And by the way, explaining it on text to your daughter is really hard. But listen, in any government Shutdown, typically about 17, 18% of the government shuts down. About 82, 83% of the government keeps going. So all essential services keep going. The military keeps doing its important job of keeping us safe. Law enforcement, the FBI keeps working, Border Patrol keeps working. ICE keeps working. Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, those all keep working. Every cabinet secretary has to designate, go through their employees and designate which employees are essential and which employees are non essential. And the non essential ones are required to stay home. So I remember years ago, when Bill Clinton was president, the Commerce Department put out a press release that said 70% of their employees were deemed non essential. But the same press release said, fear not, all of our critical job responsibilities are being carried out. And I'm like, fantastic, you've just set a new baseline that you need 30% of your employees because apparently you could do everything you're supposed to do with 70% of the folks at home. But what does it mean? Practically? It means things like national park shutdown. So if you were going to go to a national park this weekend, if you're going to go to Yosemite with your family, it's closed. If you were taking your family to D.C. and you wanted to go to the Smithsonian, go see the Air and Space Museum, it's closed. National Institutes of Health, Cancer Research, the funding for that, that's shut down. Government paychecks have largely stopped. Actually, ironically, there's one set of government paychecks that doesn't stop, and that is members of Congress. Because under the 28th amendment. You can't stop the salaries for members of Congress. So I did yesterday, something I've done every shutdown, which is I send a letter to the secretary of the Senate saying please hold my paycheck, do not give me my paycheck until the government reopens because I don't think it's right for me to get paid while the rest of government employees are not getting paid. But I will tell you something that's changed the whole dynamic here, which is the Trump White House. Russ Vode, who's the head of the Office of Management and Budget, wrote a memo that said if Democrats force a shutdown, we are going to use that opportunity to do permanent layoffs, to do reduction in forces in every agency and to give pink slips to all the left wing bureaucrats that are advancing left wing policies that the President disagrees with. And I think they're gonna do that. And I think you are going to see Democrats screaming and wailing and gnashing their teeth as they start seeing pink slips come in one after the other after the other. And eventually they'll concede and say nevermind and things will reopen. And then they'll return to just saying again, I hate Donald Trump, but okay, I guess I'll let the government be fine.
A
Yes, Senator, it's fascinating to watch from an outside perspective. Obviously it's different inside the whole of Congress, but from an outside perspective, rolling our eyes, they don't seem to roll back far enough. Especially considering I don't think many friends across the aisle from you are taking that same pledge to avoid getting their paycheck in order until the government shuts reopens.
B
It's an awfully good question and I don't know the answer. But you know what? No reporter will ask them. They couldn't think to. I mean, the reporters are really, when it comes to Democrats, they're like groupies at a Rolling Stone concert. They run after Democrats. They throw their panties at the Democrats, by the way, that's just the guys. But it's bad. I mean, that's who the press are. And so they're just, the Democrats are paralyzed because they're like, okay, this is not going well and even our fan girls are not helping us.
A
I hate to stop you when you're on a roll in case that's something that you do want. Senator, the next time I see you in person, I'll make sure to hand you a pair of my boxers. I can't imagine that that's going to be welcome to you.
B
But tempting, but. But I think I may have to pass this time.
A
Senator Ted Cruz, thank you so much.
B
Be honest. You go the full Borat?
A
Oh, yeah, of course, of course. We ran into each other at a cigar lounge on inauguration weekend and of course you obviously looked at me in the full Borat. I was wearing the pink one instead of the green. But I think you were able to recognize me regardless.
B
It's a good look. And I for one appreciate your pledge to do your next podcast in the Borat. I think will that will truly traumatize some viewers.
A
You know, we only agreed to do that because you decided to do it as well. When we do our next podcast, I.
B
Made a slightly different commitment. I committed that Chuck Schumer would because it would ensure that no human being ever voted Democrat again. It would permanently end the vote for the Democrats.
A
Unfortunately, it would also permanently cancel all of our viewership. Nobody wants to see that.
B
Well, you know, you know, the gif of Homer Simpson pouring, pouring bleach on his eyes. That, that is clearly what would happen.
A
Amazing. Senator Cruz, thank you so much for taking the time. Like I said, this is a lighter hearted show generally speaking. Appreciate you, appreciate you leaning into that.
B
You got, you gotta have fun. Life is too short not to laugh. And I love to laugh. And look, wrapping up where we started, Charlie loved to laugh. I mean, as you know, he and I were good friends. I met Charlie when He was an 18 year old kid. I mean, he was fresh out of high school and I remember sitting in a friend's living room and this tall, lanky high school kid was pitching, okay, we're going to build an organization that's going to connect to young people and it's going to energize young people and it's going to help inspire them to love liberty and to love free enterprise and love the Constitution and love America. And this is right after Barack Obama had been reelected. The Democrats were on top of the world. They had majorities, they felt unbeatable. And at the time, for young people, being a lefty Obama supporter was very cool. And so what Charlie was talking about sounded, I love the sound of it, but it sounded like, well, that's gonna be tough to get young people to not be hip Obamaites. And I gotta say, the journey from, you know, I probably spoke at, I don't know, at a dozen Turning Point conferences. It is incredible. The energy, the passion, thousands of young people. And one of the things Charlie did and all of Turning Point everyone has done is made it cool to be Conservative. Made it cool to love America. Made it cool to love freedom. Made it cool to have fun that you didn't have to be. You know, so many Republicans act like they got a stick inserted somewhere it doesn't belong. Like, relax, laugh, have fun.
A
Yeah.
B
And I think that's something that there are lots of ways we can remember Charlie and his legacy, but one of the ways we can remember is to laugh and have fun, not take yourself so seriously that everything is life and death, that you can just. You can be grateful for the incredible privileges of being an American and being free.
A
Well, Senator, I apologize for taking more time than we promised your press team, but just to briefly comment on that, that's why I got brought into the loop. I'm a comedian by trade who happens to pay attention to the news, and Charlie understood that, yes, you can convince people through logic and reason and arguments, but also, people get brought to the conservative movement by humor and entertainment, and that's something that the conservative movement has been missing for a very long time.
B
Yes, yes, humor is powerful. I grew up watching snl. I love comedy. And laughter is. It is much more effective. All right, you want. This will be before your time, but one of the most effective press conferences. Ronald Reagan's president and Sam Donaldson, who was the ABC News reporter, and he was a jerk, and he was, like, pounding Reagan. So they're doing a press conference at the White House, and Sam Donaldson says, Mr. President, you have blamed the problems in this country. You blame them on Tip o', Neill, the Democrat speaker in the House. You blame them on Democrats in the House. You blame them on Democrats in the Senate. Sam Donaldson goes, Mr. President, you're president of the United States. Don't you bear any responsibility for the problems in America? And Reagan, with a twinkle in his eye, he leans forward and goes, well. Well, Sam, yes, Yes, I do. I bear considerable responsibility because for many years, I was a Democrat. And even Donaldson cracks up laughing like the end of the clip. You can Google it and watch it, watch it online. Sam Donaldson is just reduced to laughter. That communicates a lot more effectively than just screaming and banging a stick on someone.
A
Oh, 100%. I'd love to sit down at length and talk about all. I remember his debate with Mondale where they were arguing about his age. And he said, well, I will not let my opponent's youth and experience be a factor in this election.
B
And it eliminated the whole issue. It was with that one quip. And you go back and read the accounts. His team had all these strategies, and he Said, guys, I got this one. And so they apparently they didn't know he was going to use that line and they found out when, when he said it. The debate.
A
Oh that's, that's, that's great. Awesome. Hey Senator Cruz, again, thank you for taking as much time as you have. Really appreciate it. Would love to connect again sometimes and good luck. Good luck. Suffering through this shutdown.
B
I some somehow the weeping. We will survive.
A
Thank you so much.
B
Take care.
A
Thank you. Well, that was fun. Just so you at home know, we had scheduled that interview for like a 10 minute segment and wow, he gave us a lot more than that. But you also don't want to stop a guy when he's rolling. That was, that was fun. Senator Cruz, thank you so much. Appreciate you taking the time. You can send any email you'd like. TPT USA.com we accept all emails. Your thoughts, comments, concerns. What do you think about Senator Cruz saying that? Accusing me of wearing a Borat bikini. And if you don't know what that means, don't Google it. You don't have to. But regardless, you can send an email tpt@tpusa.com really appreciate all of those emails. We will be back to discuss the $300,000 salary from the government that an illegal alien was getting. And you can't tell me that illegals don't vote if you can secure a job that anybody would take. Uh, all that and more coming up after the break. Don't go away. We'll be right back. Welcome back to Turning Point tonight where together we are charting the course of America's cultural comeback through the mockery of horrible lib ideas. You can email the show anytime you want. TBTP USA.com we love seeing each and every one of your emails. If you have thoughts about anything that Ted Cruz and I said, if you would like to start a petition or a movement that says, yeah, we shouldn't have to pay income tax when the government is shut down. If you're going to go to your local small business, if they're closed, you can't give them any money and unfortunately we, you know, can't pay income tax when the government is shut down. I just, you know, byproduct of the government shutting down. How, how can we possibly pay income tax here if, you know, we're not getting the government that we pay for? If you have any of those sorts of thoughts. Tpt we love seeing each and every one of your emails that will hopefully get to a little bit later on in the show, time permitting. This I thought was fascinating. President Trump did warn us about this, that we may get tired of winning. And I think he got one word wrong. I'm not tired of winning, but I do get tired from winning. There's just, there's a lot of wins that keep coming policy wise, even in the midst of terrible tragedy. It just so happens that conservative ideas win and continue to win. I think Charlie himself would even say that, well, if reality is what we're fighting for, we're going to win the day. And that seems to be what is happening. We are winning again against this time, the Anti Defamation League. The ADL had listed Turning Point USA as a hate and extremist group in their glossary of hate and extremism, which is hilarious. Go ahead and pull this up. This was on the ADL's website listed Turning Point USA, a group that just, they give a whole description, and it goes on and on and on of why Turning Point is included in the hate and extremism. And yeah, that is, of course, ridiculous and we'll get to the point that we actually won in this particular instance. Um, but what's also interesting is they do have Antifa in there. But there are some caveats which I thought were fascinating. The caveats in this description on the ADL's website and their glossary for extremism and hate says that while some antifa adherence have engaged in violence or vandalism at rallies and events, this of course, is not the norm. Oh, okay, you're right. I usually when I think of Antifa, I think of just nice, polite, kind people sipping tea or coffee at the local cafe, just gathering around, discussing ideas about how they can stop fascism, maybe even discussing what fascism means because apparently none of them know what fascism means because the ironically named Antifa is the most fascist group in the country. That's maybe why they were listed as a domestic terrorist organization by the president, because, well, sipping coffee at a cafe is not what anyone thinks when they think of Antifa. It's this, the mostly peaceful protests that result in people burning down cities. Um, now the good news here is that because conservatives and because people are starting to realize, uh, that 80% of the country agrees on what conservatives think. And unfortunately we've been duped by the people that are very, very loud, but still a minority in their thinking. Well, we're winning yet again. The ADL has since taken down their glossary of extremism and hate because we effectively won. Uh, we complained enough and complained is not the right term. We pointed out the fact that this glossary was ridiculous and nonsensical. And so the ADL has taken it down. President Trump came out against it, Elon Musk came out against it, and they have officially removed the extremism glossary, which labeled Turning Point USA and Christianity as a whole as terrorist slash hate groups. Fantastic. Great job, Americans. We will continue winning and not get tired of winning. But. But, you know, get some rest because we may be tired from winning. That doesn't mean we won't keep winning. Get your beauty sleep because the winning will continue as we move forward. Speaking of winning, it would be. Let me know this. Would you take a job that pays $300,000? Every single person, including me, would go, yes, yes, I would. I would love that job. What I'm trying to say is that everybody would happily accept a position that pays that amount of money, because that is an absurd amount of money, especially if you're working for a government entity. The problem is not all of us can get those jobs. We are trying all actively to make an amount of money that is somewhere close to that. It is a very difficult job to procure. If you're trying to make money, it's difficult to make up to $300,000. Apparently, though, it was possible for an illegal alien who was the superintendent of the Des Moines School District. You might have heard about this story already. Ian Roberts, of course, a traditional African name, was making a ton of money that we all would envy, lying about his citizenship that, well, he's a citizen of this country and should definitely have this job DEI much. I really want to play this clip from the Board of Education when they found out that he was in the country illegally. And there's something. There's a new evolving part of this that is very, very interesting that I definitely want to highlight after this clip. Watch this.
B
DMPS reviewed Dr. Roberts i9 where he stated he was a US citizen and provided two forms of ID, a driver's.
A
License and a Social Security card.
B
And Dentons Davis Brown determined the information.
A
Submitted was consistent with his claim that he was a US citizen.
B
However, in the past 24 hours, the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners revoked Dr.
A
Roberts license, meaning he is not able.
B
To serve as a superintendent in our state.
A
Yesterday afternoon, the Department of Homeland Security.
B
Informed us that he is not eligible.
A
To work in the United States and.
B
Therefore could not be employed in any fashion at DMPs.
A
Okay, so not only is he in the country illegally, he's not authorized to work in this country. Uh, there's also something interesting that they said there, Dr. Ian Roberts, we don't have a doctorate either. Apparently it is 2023, according to the Associated Press. 2023 application for the school district. Uh, he said, yeah, I have a. Let me get this right. A doctorate in urban educational leadership from Morgan State University in 2007. Uh, although the Morgan State University registrar's office said, yeah, he was enrolled here, he never actually received that degree. I, I mean, of course, if you're gonna lie about your citizenship, your work status, why would you not just add? I, I can't believe he only put one doctorate on there. Put like three or four. There's a guy, what's his name? Richard Rishi. He's a Young Turks guy who has clearly made up several doctors. The guy's got like nine doctorates. Uh, go look him up. He's a terrible person on the Young Turks, but he just made up a bunch of doctorate degrees that he has, and that's what this guy was doing. But the key point here is, if you remember, they said, well, he provided a Social Security card and, and a driver's license. Yeah, that's the problem with a bunch of these lib states. They just give you a Social Security card even if you're not a citizen. They just give you a driver's license even if you're not a citizen. So providing those two things is in no way proof that one, you're eligible to work here, and two, you're a freaking US Citizen. Citizen. Now, of course, you may be thinking as I am, if you can secure a $300,000 a year job, there's no way that illegals aren't also voting if they can. If illegals since can secure job with a salary that every single person in this country would envy. Unless you're, you know, unbelievably rich. That's not the people I'm talking about. I'm just talking about normal everyday people, me and you. If you can secure a $300,000 a year job as an illegal, there's no way the illegals aren't voting. Which is the case for Ian Rober, traditional African name. Uh, the dude, the illegal immigrant from Guyana was apparently also receiving mail in ballots since 2020 from Maryland. So there you have it. The folks that say elections are safe and secure and there's no way illegals can even vote with the system that we have are a bunch of liars who are full of bodily excrement that I'm not allowed to say on tv. So there's that. We will keep you posted on anything that comes from this story. Harmeet Dillon, friend of the show, by the way, said that they are going to investigate DEI practices because he did check all the boxes. Black illegal immigrant with a fake doctorate. Yeah, sure, go ahead and hire that guy. That's. Let's not look at the merit at all. Let's just go ahead and hire him because it checks a box and meets our quota. Coming up, President Trump yesterday, well, over the course of the last couple days. But yesterday we talked about the hilarious Sombrero Gate, which is, if you haven't heard about it, you're gonna love this. We did talk about it yesterday, but we obviously there was a live event that kind of ran a little bit long. No problem. If you're listening to the podcast, you heard this yesterday. We're gonna repeat some of it. But trust in knowing that there is a new hilarious update that we will also be bringing to you. Don't go away. We'll be right back after the break. Foreign welcome back to Turning Point. Tonight we're together. We are continuing to chart the course of America's cultural comeback through mockery of horrible lib ideas. I'm laughing thinking about what we're going to get into with this segment. Now, yesterday we covered this at length, but we did get preempted because they're trying to censor me. No, it was a TP USA event that went a little bit long and that is totally fine. If you'd like to see the same from yesterday, you can go to our YouTube channel or real America's Voices website where it is live there. But in case you missed all of that, let me just briefly set you up on something that I think is one of the funnier things I think I've ever seen in, in my lifetime maybe. And it is the fact that being a hilarious president is not, in fact, a crime. If you're seeing this picture for the first time, that's good. You don't spend enough time on Twitter or X. Uh, and that's, that's a good thing. But if, if you're not, you know what's coming, trust me, there are some updates that you're not going to want to miss. President Trump posted to the truth social platform this hilarious, clearly AI video. Nobody is disputing that. Nobody's trying to say he's putting words in the mouth of his opponents. Now, this is clearly a joke. It might as well be a cartoon that just happens to be in video format in which he put Akeem Jeffries in a sombrero I'm gonna play the original clip and then we'll go. We'll go timeline on the, the, the fallout or the response from the folks involved. Watch this.
B
There's no way to sugarcoat it. Nobody likes Democrats anymore. We have no voters left because of all of our woke trans bull. Not even black people want to vote for us anymore. Even Latinos hate us. So we need new voters. And if we give all these illegal aliens free health care, we might be able to get them on our side so they can vote for us. They can't even speak English, so they won't realize we're just a bunch of woke pieces of. You know, at least for a while until they. They learn English and they realize they hate us, too.
A
So yesterday's segment was kind of on the fact that there's a difference. There's a difference with. Between that and calling somebody a fascist and a Nazi. Is that something the President of the United States generally does? Objectively, no. But is it really that bad of a thing? It's debatable. What it definitely isn't is saying, like Joe Biden did, that the existential threat to this country was half the country. There's a difference. Again, if you want that full segment, go to our YouTube channel. You should subscribe to our YouTube channel regardless. Turning Point tonight. So then Senor Hakeem, as producer Glenn called him, responded, and somebody hilariously put the video underneath his response. Watch that. And Mr. President, the next time you.
B
Have something to say about me, don't cop out through a racist and fake AI video.
A
When I'm back in the Oval Office.
B
Say it to my face. Say it to my face.
A
Hakeem Jeffries. I guarantee that he will say it to your face. If there's anybody who's gonna say something directly to your face, it's the President United States. He has no problem say, yeah, hey, you goofball. Here's what I think about you, and I'll sit to your face in front of all of the media. Now, that's what we covered yesterday. There was a new update. Late last night, President Trump posted yet another video of Hakeem Jeffries talking about the incident. The horribly hilarious video that was posted online by the President United States. Now, I'm going to challenge you folks at home with me. I'm going to. I'm going to. We're going to have the two box in here so that you can see me in addition to the video. Try not to laugh. Try not to laugh at what the President United States posted. If you do though, if you. If you can not laugh, text us or email us. Tptpusa.com I want to know if there's any actual order. And be honest, by the way too. See, be honest in the fact that you either laughed or you didn't laugh. TPTP USA.com will watch it together and try not to to do a spit take. Watch this.
B
It's a disgusting video. And we're going to continue to make clear bigotry will get you nowhere. We are fighting to protect the health care of the American people in the face of an unprecedented Republican.
A
If you email us. If you email us at tv tbt tbsa.com and say I didn't laugh at that, I won't believe you that you. You're lying just as much as libs do. I. That that's not. You can't not laugh at that. If there are any more hilarious memes, by the way, producer Glenn pointed out accurately that, hey, Hakeem, don't take the bait. Like, if you really want this stuff to not happen, don't go out there and pretend it's the most egregious thing that a president has ever done. Now, I can think of some egregious things presidents have done and this does not really rank in the top thousand probably. So save your tears, dude. And if you didn't respond the way that you did, maybe he wouldn't have put out another hilarious. Actually, I thank you. I thank you for Hakeem Jeffries for taking the bait because that granted us with a hilarious video again from the President United States. Uh, you can email the show anytime you want. Tbtpusa.com youm also need to subscribe to our YouTube channel and our Facebook Facebook channel or my Facebook channel. Whichever one you find. There's going to be exclusive segments of the show. You can also subscribe to me on Facebook. That is where those clips will be in addition to all of the other clips that come out from the show. Email the show tbtpsa.com we'll be right back after the break. Everybody will be able to see it. But eventually, you know, we'll, we'll make a. Make it for members only. So go to those platforms, subscribe or follow, depending on whichever platform you're talking about. Rumble, Facebook, YouTube, all of those. And you'll be able to get an extra piece of the show that you won't see here on the actual show itself. One last thing I think is what we're calling it affectionately right now, tptp USA.com is the email. I wanted to bring up several of these other videos. I know we, we generally have fun in this segment. And again, as Ted Cruz and I were talking about extending Charlie's legacy by laughing at terrible ideas. Don't take libs as seriously as they take themselves. Uh, well, we aren't. Unless of course, they are saying things that we 100% agree with. Then it's both funny, ironic and actually true. That happened yesterday when Joy Reed, former MSNBC host, went on some sort of podcast and said something that we all agree with, as if it was something bad that we wouldn't want. Look, these MAGA Republicans want this. Yeah, we do. Watch this clip and we'll discuss is that if you go back before the 20th century, there were no income taxes, there were no regulations on business. You could earn as much money as you want, leave 100% of it to your children with no taxes. That's the world they want back. And to get it back, they need society to change. They need people to be less modern. They need people to want fewer things. Yeah, Joy, we. You right. We do want less regulation on businesses. We don't want taxes. We want to be able to leave the money that we have to our kids without having to fork over a bunch of it to the federal government who's just going to basically light it on fire if they don't bury it in the money hole pit. Yeah, we correct. That is what we want. Now, the argument that she's making, because the context, I guess, does matter a little bit, she's saying, well, in order to be the country that they want, you have to get rid of all these things, which would by default eliminate all of the things that the government is doing. Again, to which we say, yes, you have to want less things. No, you actually don't. You have to earn more things is what we're actually hoping for. To say that good things come from the government is effectively the argument she's making. Look, if people don't pay taxes, the government won't get to do all of the things that the government does. Yeah, you know, we're okay with that. We are okay with the risk of having. Having to depend on ourselves instead of the government. Joy, thank you.
B
We'll.
A
We'll take it from here. Wow. MAGA right wing is right wing extremist Joy Reid saying exactly all the things that we want and pretending that it's somehow bad. Okay, let's see, we have time for this one. On the heels of Hagseth saying yesterday that the military should be based on meritocracy and that we should no longer have people that are unwed run ready to fight. Msnbc of course, had a meltdown because meritocracy for some reason is racist in their eyes. Watch this.
B
Other individuals who are supposed to be leadership are using this kind of language. I call that the meritocracy myth. And it feels as though that that myth of meritocracy, this idea that the women and the people of color, the anybody, the LGBTQ folks, they are all there because of some helper, some preference, that idea is, is a, is a lie. But it feels as like it's a lie today. They feel like he said especially has to tell because then they can twist the narrative, they can twist the truth. You can hide excellence. It gives cover for his own mediocrity because he is unqualified to be there. They also had that line. He had that line about diversity isn't our strength, community is our strength. Which made me wonder whether or not there is room for diverse opinions, diverse races, religions, in his sense of unity. I suspect not. You know the language that he uses.
A
Oh, you don't think there's any room for diversity? Because he said unity is our strength. By the way, that's true. The United States is a powerful country because of our unity, not because of our diversity. Diversity is fine, I guess, if it's implemented in a way that doesn't prioritize people due to immutable characteristic, that's that clearly bad. But unity is actually our strength. And then to say, well, because they're focused on unity, there's no room for diversity. All right, cool. Well, that's. Those two things are not mutually exclusive. And if you don't know that, maybe you shouldn't be on cable news as a host. And we don't have time to get into the whole idea of why diminishing the value of people comes when you have diversity hires. But that's conversation for another time. We'll see you tomorrow. Same time, same place. God bless America. This is an iHeart podcast.
Podcast: Real America’s Voice
Host: JoBob
Guest: U.S. Senator Ted Cruz
Air Date: October 2, 2025
Episode Theme:
A high-energy, satirical yet serious exploration of current political and cultural flashpoints through a conservative lens, featuring Senator Ted Cruz for an in-depth, frank discussion on the state of American politics, protests, government shutdowns, media bias, and the legacy of Charlie Kirk.
JoBob’s Turning Point Tonight aims to confront political and cultural issues with sharp satire and conservative analysis, especially in light of recent national turbulence (notably the government shutdown and fallout from Charlie Kirk's assassination). The conversation with Senator Ted Cruz examines the political climate, the disconnect between leadership and mainstream beliefs, the influence (and funding) behind protest movements, religious persecution overseas, government shutdown realities, media bias, and the importance of humor and optimism in political movements.
| Timestamp | Speaker | Quote | |-----------|---------|-------| | 02:30 | Ted Cruz | “There’s a real reservoir of common sense... The Democrat Party really got radicalized since Trump’s election.” | | 03:30 | Ted Cruz | “Let’s go embrace the 20% side... abolish the police. That is a dumbass idea.” | | 05:20 | Ted Cruz | “Charlie could be empathetic... tell me more about what’s going on in your life...” | | 08:55 | Ted Cruz | “There’s money likely coming from Qatar, Iran, China... and local communists and anarchists.” | | 11:23 | Ted Cruz | “Since 2009, more than 52,000 Christians have been murdered in Nigeria.” | | 13:29 | Ted Cruz | “[Prorating income taxes?] I think that’s a damn good argument.” | | 13:56 | Ted Cruz | “Is your life massively, materially different [during shutdown]? Other than... stepping over the piles of dead bodies in the streets…” | | 14:15 | Ted Cruz | “‘We’re going to shut down your government so we can pay for free healthcare for people here illegally’...wildly unpopular.” | | 16:53 | Ted Cruz | “Shutdown is a misnomer – about 82-83% of government keeps going.” | | 17:48 | Ted Cruz | “...please hold my paycheck, do not give me my paycheck until the government reopens.” | | 18:21 | Ted Cruz | “...use that opportunity to do permanent layoffs...give pink slips to all the left-wing bureaucrats...” | | 20:28 | Ted Cruz | “…when it comes to Democrats, [the press is] like groupies at a Rolling Stone concert. They throw their panties at the Democrats…That's just the guys.” | | 24:10 | Ted Cruz | “One of the ways we can remember Charlie and his legacy is to laugh and have fun, not take yourself so seriously…” | | 25:00 | Ted Cruz | [Reagan quip to Sam Donaldson:] “Well, Sam, yes, yes I do. I bear considerable responsibility because for many years, I was a Democrat.” | | 26:37 | JoBob & Cruz | [On Reagan’s debate quip:] “Well, I will not let my opponent’s youth and inexperience be a factor...” |
The episode blends sharp humor and pointed analysis, honoring the memory and style of Charlie Kirk by turning political lampooning into a tool for cultural pushback. JoBob and Cruz are both candid and jocular, mocking liberals loudly and celebrating ideological victories, while also highlighting serious civilizational concerns.
Turning Point Tonight’s October 1, 2025, episode is a dynamic blend of policy analysis, cultural commentary, and sharp-edged humor, laying out the current state of conservative thought in America.
