Real Life Real Crime.
Morgan Baggot
The podcast may contain descriptions of acts of violence or that of a sexual nature and should be people that are 18 years or older. He my warning people, I do not get the facts of these cases off of the Internet or from some television show. The facts I'm retelling you were presented to me by the victims of the crimes or the perpetrators who committed the crimes against the victims. My descriptions of the crime scenes, what I saw with my own two eyes and if you're going to get offended, please turn this podcast off now.
Zoe Saldana
Thank you. Hello everybody and welcome to this episode of Real Life Real Crime, the podcast. As always, I'm your host Woody Overton and today is the day we begin the next hashtag justice4 and y' all this case before I disclose it, I tell you, you know all you lifers and all the people around the world that messaged me about their families cold cases and begged me to take them and some of you send a lot more information to others and and I get that and I, I and I know some of you can be mad because I didn't choose your case or a lot of you be mad. But maybe one day and I'm going to explain in a minute why I took this case and you'll understand it as we dived into this case what's happening, what's going on but I apologize ahead of time that I have to be moved. I have to be in the right place, the right state of mind Something has to kick in for me to. In this case, ultimately, I got pissed off and that. Not that your cases don't piss me off also, but. So just stick with me one family at a time, as always. Hashtag justice for Haley. She. The new district attorney has taken the case. They're reinvestigating it. That's all we could ask for, right? And then use media coverage, etc. Of course, we hashtag justice Courtney.
Morgan Baggot
Courtney.
Zoe Saldana
We. We solved it. He's doing life, right? Hashtag justice for Mary P. Show. Well, he played out to 60 years, right? Hashtag just for Ms. Barbara. Well, y' all know the story on that one. That's the white. The white. Wh. If you will, could please keep calling in your tips on her. Me knowing what happened and being able to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. Or. Or actually two different things. And this Monday, I'm actually recording an episode with Sheriff Hard on miss Barbara. Kind of an update deal.
Morgan Baggot
So that being said, without further ado.
Zoe Saldana
We'Ll go ahead and give you the name of the case now and just hashtag justice for Bradley. And Bradley's last name is Stracer. Okay. And. But for reasons that we've learned in the past, for the. We want to want everybody's tag this case when you post about it, when you mention it. And you're going to believe me, you're going to be so pissed when you hear all the stuff that's happened, hadn't happened, et cetera. And this is a wild and crazy case. But for expediency and ease, we're going to hashtag justice for Bradley. But it's Bradley Str. With that being said, I have in the new studio today, hopefully we won't have any technical difficulties. So it's hashtag justice for Bradley. His last name is Strasner. And in the new studio today, hopefully we won't have any more technical issues. I have with me Ms. Morgan Baggot. Is that right? Yes, correctly. And so say hi to the world.
Woody Overton
Hello to the world. The whole wide world.
Zoe Saldana
See all the. This first episode, we're going to talk about how Morgan and I, Morgan and I became acquainted and everything else. But this story, Morgan, it even has a unique twist on her as to why you're the one that's fighting so hard, right?
Woody Overton
Yes.
Zoe Saldana
For. And so we're going to get into all of it. Y' all stick with me. You know, I got to tell the story the way I need to tell it. And this one is like an elephant. And how do you Eat an elephant one bite at a time. Right. But I'm gonna tell you this and I'll say it again at the end of the show. We're gonna work this case. And do I believe it's solvable? Absolutely. The. And guess what the, the y' all. And we'll get into the details in a minute but Bradley and my professional opinion is has been murdered and throwing this out there because I know the murderers are listening and this is going to be blown up everywhere. We know that and. But the murderers are listening you. We're coming for you. I'm coming for you. And one, you should be very afraid.
Morgan Baggot
The best thing you can do, go.
Zoe Saldana
Turn yourself in now because out of.
Morgan Baggot
All the cases I've taken, this is.
Zoe Saldana
Going to be punch you in your mouth. Because I'm coming hard. All right? And so life will stick with me. And we're going to get started on the story. So Ms. Morgan drove all the way in from Leesville basically, huh?
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
Which if y' all, if you're not from Louisiana, it's just about as far away from me as you can get. Right. Would it take you like four hours almost?
Woody Overton
Yes.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah. And then you had some car trouble and everything else. New battery then I've done a lot of work over there for Polk and stuff. So I know where it is. And y' all, it's on kind of on the Texas border and about midway in the state. As far west as you can go. Almost. Right.
Woody Overton
So they call us West Central, but.
Zoe Saldana
Right, yeah. Well that's a. That's an apt name for it. So the mostly piney woods.
Woody Overton
His hatchet forest. Yeah. And right in the middle of it.
Zoe Saldana
Right. And then Fort Polk of course will be the main. I would guess the main employer in that area. Burning Paris.
Woody Overton
Most definitely. Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
And y' all, we're going to be talking about Burning parish almost non stop. So it's not a real populous area. Not a lot of people. I mean it's compared to say give or take issue or East Baton Rouge or something like that.
Woody Overton
48000 is approximately in the whole parish. It's a very large parish in size, very low in population.
Zoe Saldana
Right. Very rural as far as population. I guess that 480004 POG is the.
Woody Overton
Majority of that probably. Yes.
Zoe Saldana
So all right, so where are you from?
Woody Overton
Right there. Pitkin, Louisiana have a Pitkin address. But they just kind of stuck us somewhere because really I live in a community called Marlow and it's about six miles from the military base which is where I also work. Born and raised right there.
Zoe Saldana
Born and raised in Burnham Parish. And can I say how we talk about how old you are? You look young. I guess that would be offensive. Y' all go check out our YouTube. This will be up on. On YouTube also, but go ahead.
Woody Overton
I'm 32 years old. I feel older.
Zoe Saldana
You look. You look young.
Woody Overton
I've lived 100 lifetimes.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah, unfortunately, these kind of cases do that, so. So you grow up in Burnham Parish, and at some point you meet Bradley.
Woody Overton
Bradley, yes.
Zoe Saldana
Bradley Strayster. Right. So how did, how did that happen?
Woody Overton
Well, I had actually met Bradley when I was a young girl, like, you know, like 12, 13 years old. He was friends with my older cousins, who. They're all four years older.
Zoe Saldana
He was the cute boy. Whatever. He's your first boyfriend.
Woody Overton
No, he was not. He was actually the second boyfriend ever. I married, the second boyfriend I ever had. But, you know, so I'm a little girl swimming in my grandma's pool, and my friends are crazy over my cousins, and I'm crazy over my friend, my cousin's friends, you know, and.
Zoe Saldana
Which is Bradley.
Woody Overton
Bradley is. And it's just a little girl crush at that point, you know, and then time rocks on. And fast forward to I'm graduating high school and now I'm 18. No, they were four years. He was four years older than me. My cousins are four years older than me. And so when you're 12 and 13, four years older, that's a big deal. But when you're 18, you know, so. So.
Zoe Saldana
So you're graduating from high school.
Woody Overton
Yep. And, well, I was sitting, you know, just the backwoods story. I was sitting at my aunt's bar on the back porch, and Bradley pulled up and walked in.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And he stopped and looked at me, said, oh, my God, you're Ben's little cousin. And I was like, yep. And literally that was all she wrote for the next seven years we were together.
Zoe Saldana
Wow. So tell me how it started. At night or.
Woody Overton
Uncensored. You know, we. We. We drink beer together. We went riding in the woods together, and he was staying at his boss's house, and he somehow talked me into going back to his boss's house with him.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
But, you know, so. So we're like, snuggled up and. And you know, of course, him being Bradley, who he was, he's so good looking and a typical man trying to get in my pants. And I'm a good girl, you know, really, truly to God, I was a good girl. And I was like, no, sir, no Sir.
Zoe Saldana
You know, y' all dated.
Woody Overton
Yeah, we dated. We dated. I met his parents. His daddy has loved me so much since day one. One time, that man squeezed my whole cheek. Was his name Mr. Sam? Papa Sam. That's what me and my little boy call him. Okay, Papa Sam.
Zoe Saldana
So Papa Sam. And what's his mama's name?
Woody Overton
His mother's name is Tony. And Bradley has a stepmother named Karen who's married to Papa Sam, and we call her Nana.
Zoe Saldana
Cool. And. And so y' all date and, you know, it progresses, and at some point, get married, or you get something about getting engaged or married. How.
Morgan Baggot
How about.
Woody Overton
He was working a job down in New Orleans, and I had never really traveled anywhere alone, but I took off down there in my little red Mitsubishi Gallant, and I went to stay with Bradley against my mother's wishes, against my whole family's wishes, I was going to be with him. And he asked me to marry him down there. And, yeah, of course I said yeah. So I. He walked through the door of the place we were staying one day, and he just stopped at the door, and I was standing across the room, and he pointed at me, and he said. Literally this was from out of nowhere. He said, you're pregnant.
Zoe Saldana
What?
Woody Overton
And I was like, no, I'm not. And he's like, yes, you are. And I said, bradley? Yes, Bradley. Bradley, yeah. Walks in from work, and I'm just like, whatever. No, I'm not. And he. He. Bradley kept on and kept on for days telling me that. And, you know, it would have been easy to go get a test, but I was that sure that I was not pregnant, and so I just didn't. So I meet him one day for lunch, and I'm gonna head home, and I wanted to eat at this Chinese place. We eat Chinese. I get on the interstate, 20 minutes, I'm pulling over on the side of the interstate, sicker than I've ever been. So violently projectile vomiting, right? I called him, and I was like, look, I guess I'm going to take a test when I get home, because I'm like, I can't leave. I'm so sick. So I make it the rest of the way home. I take six tests, because, you know, after the first two, you got to keep trying to get a negative one. And I was pregnant.
Zoe Saldana
And what year was that?
Woody Overton
2013. We actually got married while I was pregnant, right before I had Oliver. We got married January 1, 2013. I had Oliver February 19, 2013.
Zoe Saldana
Wow. So there you go. And where was Oliver born?
Woody Overton
Oliver was born in Deridder just at a hospital up the road from my house. So.
Zoe Saldana
And so you showed me a picture earlier. You're in the hospital bed with Oliver and Bradley's leaning over the bed with you. The what was Bradley's reaction? Oliver being born?
Woody Overton
He when the day that we found out Oliver was a boy, Bradley actually jumped up in the ultrasound room. Like, he just jumped up. I think he probably would have had a similar reaction if it was a girl. But he threw his hands up in the air and he cried and he rubbed my belly and he smiled at me and he was so excited.

You know, I think every dad my first was, was a girl. But every dad secretly wants a boy so they can have a hunting buddy and a fishing buddy and whatever. But. So he's very excited and you know, go through the pregnancy and Oliver comes. Where'd you get the name Oliver?
Woody Overton
Oliver is named after my great grandpa and we're old country music fans, you know. So his name is Oliver Whelan. And we had been through my man, so many names. So many names. And we had one picked out and. But I thought of Oliver Whan one day and I called Bradley. He was on the road working again and I was like, look, I got one more name. He's like, but I thought we already picked and I can't even remember what we picked. I was like, well, we did, but I think you're going to like this one. And I said it. Oliver Whelen. And he said that's it. I love it. Don't call and tell me no more names. I love it. Where? That's the one.
Morgan Baggot
That's awesome.
Woody Overton
And so we went with that.
Morgan Baggot
Sorry, some questions about Bradley.
Zoe Saldana
Where was he born?
Woody Overton
Bradley was born in Deridder, another burning parish. Well, Deridder is a neighboring parishes. But regard.
Zoe Saldana
Well, how about west Louisiana parish?
Woody Overton
Yep, West Central.
Zoe Saldana
The west central parish. And so he's born there. We. You told me who his parents were and for the record, you actually. Because a lot of podcasters was just jumping and for numbers or whatever, but you actually told them that you were going to be doing this.
Woody Overton
Well, we did in a roundabout way. We just didn't tell them who. So now the world knows and.
Zoe Saldana
And that's okay. But I'm a. I'm a victims advocate. Right. For the families, you know, even though sometimes family members are ones that are involved.
Woody Overton
So many people guessed you Woody, by the way.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah, they. I wanted to keep it on the wraps for obvious reasons. We need time to prepare. I need time to do more deep dive and figure out things and you gave me that time graciously and I appreciate it. I know it had to be hard for you.
Morgan Baggot
He said Bradley's born into Ritter, grows.
Zoe Saldana
Up, they graduate from school.
Woody Overton
He went he went to school between Rose Pine and Evans. A lot of people in. In between in those areas know him. West Central, That's. Yeah. Evans is actually as close to the Texas state line in our area as you can get before you cross over to Texas.
Zoe Saldana
How far are you to leave a bend?
Woody Overton
About 40 minutes, 40, 45 minutes.
Zoe Saldana
So he goes to school there, and then at some point he. He goes to work.
Woody Overton
He. He went to a welding school and then he started welding. Yes, sir. He. He worked for a local. It's called Parker Steel and Supply. And they're fabulous people, wonderful people. They. They love Bradley so much and they think a lot about him. I talk to them fairly often and they always want to know about. About Bradley, but he worked there for a long time.
Zoe Saldana
All right, so then we'll get into that part in just a minute. So he worked there for a long time and then this is it that. When y' all were together yet?
Woody Overton
We were together, yes. He worked there before and after.
Zoe Saldana
All right, so. And at some point he leaves there. You were married for seven. How many years?
Woody Overton
We were together for seven years. You know, I can't even remember if we divorced in the summer of 15 or 16. It's crazy how. What time does. To a memory, but.
Zoe Saldana
Right, but. So let me tell a story. Correct. So you're married, you have Oliver, and he's working the. At some point, sugar starts to turn a little bit. Yeah, we're gonna get this. First of all. We're not gonna lie.
Woody Overton
No.
Zoe Saldana
We're not gonna sugarcoat anything.
Woody Overton
We're not here to do that.
Zoe Saldana
That's exactly right. At some point. Now, first of all, before we get that, what was the favorite thing that Bradley had you go for?
Woody Overton
Really? That man loved my. He loved anything. He. Both of our favorite meals was like, what? I'm. What am I trying to say? So it's rice and gravy. It's hamburger round steak.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And rice and gravy. And probably black eyed peas, Mac and cheese, cornbread, and the boy could eat.
Zoe Saldana
There you go. So.
Woody Overton
And again. Oh, my Lord. If I baked a cake for. For dessert.
Zoe Saldana
There you go. So y' all hear my accent. Totally different area of Louisiana from her accent, which I'm listening to, which is really almost Texas.
Woody Overton
Also the fact that said cornbread.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah, well, but I just heard it for the first time. So. Yeah. You're married. You're both young. How old are you when you're married? It's 25, 10 years of your young 20s, right?
Woody Overton
13. So he was born in 89, I was born in 93. Yeah, 20. 1989, I was 19 years old is when I got married. He's four years older.
Zoe Saldana
Nothing wrong with that. People do it every day. Right. And then so you. You're married, he's working, making, living. Life starts happening at some point. Tell me about Bradley's sliding into the dark area with drugs or whatever it was. Tell me how it progressed.
Woody Overton
He just kind of started staying away a lot. You know, he would say, I'll be right back. And eight hours later, you know, he's still not back. Or, you know, of course, it wasn't that long at first, but there was signs, and I know the signs. You know, I've loved family members that had drug issues all my life. I knew. And I was kind of in denial or. And, And I would catch him in small white lies. And then he started to lie even when he didn't have to. And then we started having some pretty serious money issues.
Zoe Saldana
Let's talk about said money. I mean, dope has to be bought, right? Drug of choice?
Woody Overton
Well, I think it was meth. I know it was meth a lot.
Zoe Saldana
But really blowing up, man.
Woody Overton
He liked. He liked pills too. If he. Xanax, as I know is. Is another choice of his and say.
Zoe Saldana
He'S sliding in at some point, even starts to take money basically away from you and Oliver.
Woody Overton
Yes, exactly.
Zoe Saldana
And stuff like that. Typical drug addict behavior. Right, But y' all, the, you know, everybody that gets murdered. Not everybody that gets murdered is churchgoing preachers. Right. And. And 98% of the cases I work, narcotics are involved in some way that. What do you. That, you know, narcotics is. Drug addiction is sickness. In the end, it is a learned behavior. It gets out of hand. You think you control it and then you don't. It controls you. But that in no way takes away from the fact that Bradley Strayson was a human being. He was a husband, he was a father, Oliver. And he's a son. His parents. I'm sure he's a friend to many.
Woody Overton
He was loved by so many.
Zoe Saldana
Any brothers and sisters?
Woody Overton
Yes, he has two sisters and one brother. Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
Okay. And. But the, you know, people get tired of messing. They. I don't know. And you and I have not talked about this part. But the, you know, you love them and you love them and then that. The behavior goes on. You're praying for change, try to get change, and they'll hit a wall and say, oh, I'm gonna change and whatever you want to believe in it. Then the cycle Starts all over again. They go back, but they're human beings.
Woody Overton
I held on. You're exactly right about that, Woody. I held on for far too long. Even after I divorced him, we still kept seeing each other. My family, you were hoping. Yeah. I. I just loved him. I loved him so much. I still do to this day.
Zoe Saldana
But you didn't like was the. The addiction.
Woody Overton
Yeah, because he was destroying it. It was destroying our family.
Zoe Saldana
Absolutely.
Woody Overton
In the life that we were supposed to be having.
Zoe Saldana
That's exactly the point. Destroying life that you're supposed to be having because you're young, you're working. And he's actually, you know, Welton's is a great trade to have. I mean, and the Is taken away from his daddy time. It's taken away from his Morgan time. But. But tell me this, and I'm gonna. We haven't talked about this. How was he as a father when he was sober?
Woody Overton
He was a wonderful father. He had so much patience with Oliver, and Oliver is incredibly smart. Bradley could. Could do anything, build anything. He could figure out anything. And Oliver is so much like his dad. But the time that Oliver spent with him back then, you know, four years old, Oliver's under a hood with. You know, under the hood of a truck with his dad. And Bradley let him do things. He literally put the tools in his hands, and he was patient enough, no matter how many times it took to help Oliver.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And I saw that.
Zoe Saldana
That's a daddy's love.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
And. And you just lost your dad every sing, right?
Woody Overton
Yes. On May 4th.
Zoe Saldana
And I think my daddy also one like the day days I'm looking something. So you lost your dad and I lost mine in the. I got to have mine for a lot longer than you did.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
Right. And then. Then I think about poor Oliver, you know, what circumstances are, what they are. Bradley's addiction, you know, got the best of them, and I get that. But he sounds like. I mean, you married a good day, right? You dated a good dude and had a good heart. People liked him. He had people. People that loved him. But he had friends and. And he worked and he had good.
Woody Overton
Friends and good people. You know, he didn't only have that drug crowd, you know, there were so many people, good people genuinely cared about him.
Zoe Saldana
The drug crowd. Friends aren't really your friends. No, they. They. You're all living the same lifestyle, and you. You think that you're super tight and all that. That's this biggest pile of in the world. It's the friends that you. The true friends that you leave behind because you're choosing their narcotics over. And that's just. Unfortunately, that's, you know, that's what happened. But he was a good daddy. And when. Before the Dixon came, when was he a good husband?
Woody Overton
Yeah, he was. We had so much fun together.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
We loved to do all of the same things.
Zoe Saldana
Tell me about just a couple quick ones.
Woody Overton
We just fishing all the time, riding in the woods constantly doing anything. You know, if it rains, we're going to see how much the creek rose.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
This is a picture of. Looking at a picture right now of him and my baby sister in a garden. Gracie, my sister was our baby before we had a baby.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
Gracie went everywhere. And Bradley loved him. Some Gracie. And Gracie loved her. Some Bradley.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah. And how old is Gracie?
Woody Overton
Gracie is going to be 21 in September, but she was just a little.
Zoe Saldana
Girl when we got together. There are a whole lot of people that love Bradley outside of the drug head crowd. Right. The. The. So y' all, again, this. Wait. Got to hear what happens in the story now. I do. I believe Bradley would have ever been murdered had he not been involved in narcotics. Absolutely not. But that's the way God let things work out. And the. But this good dude, you know, worked hard, was a good daddy, and ultimately made some poor choices that sent him in the wrong direction. And y' all got divorced because you'd had enough, right. And then now you're going into got to protect Oliver mode, praying that still that he gets out of it and all that.
Woody Overton
I knew I had to take care of me and Oliver, and that was. That was one of the saddest days, was me just finally saying it out loud to myself in my bed. I said, I'm not. I'm not Jesus, and I cannot save Bradley. And that's what I was trying to be was his savior. I was trying. And it was killing me, you know, I was losing myself and not taking as good a care of Oliver as I could have been, you know, so.
Zoe Saldana
And I get it. Get it.
Woody Overton
Second saddest day was walking into that courtroom to divorce him.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah. Well, everything happens for a reason. And unfortunately, that's going to bring us to the next part of the story. So when. When y' all are divorced, did he have any visitations or anything with Oliver or. No. Because of the dope or.
Woody Overton
So we divorce. And like I said, either summer of 15 or summer of 16. I think it was 16. And we saw each other off and on the fall of 2017, very last time I ever spent any Time with Bradley. And very shortly after that, Bradley ended up in. In jail. And just tell me about that.
Zoe Saldana
What do you.
Woody Overton
What do you get that time? I think it was just parole violations. You know, I don't. I don't remember this.
Morgan Baggot
They had been arrested before.
Woody Overton
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Zoe Saldana
When you get into dope life, everybody gets arrested. He had been in and out of charge, so. Okay, let's talk about that. We're not gonna hide anything. And this is a human being struggling with addiction. Was he stealing or did he possession. Tell me some of his charges.
Woody Overton
He had some theft charges.
Zoe Saldana
Right. He got a supply of the habit.
Woody Overton
And he got caught with drugs, you know, a couple of times.
Zoe Saldana
And everybody that gets high gets. Because drugs move from point A to B. Whether your user and the cop stops you or you're hauling it, making money or whatever, you're going to get busted sooner or later. Cops only have to get lucky once. You got to get lucky every day. And I'm not. Excuse me. I've rested 10,000 people for dope and for the theft and the different things that this all about.90 of crime all ties back in the day.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
And some of the best people in the world, they get inside and they get locked up and they dry out, and then they're gonna be straightened. And you see them in the jail because you bring somebody else in the head, like, hey, Mr. Woody, how you doing? Good to see you. Straight. A couple months later, they get out and chase them down the street again.
Woody Overton
Yeah, well, when you're using drugs, it gets out of hand quick. You know, you don't lay low and stay out of trouble. It just makes you go crazy.
Zoe Saldana
Well, the. I mean, you're. You're in the frequent fire time. I mean, you're in the life where it's. Nothing good is gonna happen. Yeah. And so he's been. He's goes to jail numerous times. Right. For a plethora of different reasons. And so you're saying that. What were you telling me?
Woody Overton
Well, just about when after. After the fall of 17, we. We aren't seeing each other anymore. And shortly after that, he. He to jail and he was in for maybe, maybe a year, maybe a little less, and he got out. And a couple of months after he got out, he contacted me. It's 2018 by now, I don't remember which part of the year, but he contacts me and says that he wants to see Oliver. So I said okay. I told him he could, and he had been not around for so long, you know, and I'm thinking about Oliver, and I don't want to make him sad. And this is. This. This is a difficult conversation. This part is. So I told him, yeah. And I went to Walgreens because I had already told him. I said, you're going to be in Oliver's life, and you're going to be doing right, and you're going to be consistent or you're not going to be in it at all. You're not doing this to him. So I went to Walgreens and I bought one of those back then. They're probably 60 by now, but it was $40. $40 drug test. And I showed up to the meeting place with it, and I get a text message, and he says, I'm here. I said, I am, too. Come inside. And he walked in with Oliver's favorite thing in the world, donut holes in a Yoo Hoo. And he looks at me, and he kind of looks around and he says, my heart's beating fast. He says, where's Oliver? And I said I had brought my sister with me, and I left him in my vehicle. And I said, he's in the car and I'll go get him right now. I'll bring him in. You can see him, but first you need to take him pass this drug test. And his face just melted. His shoulders drooped. He dropped his. You know, he had the donut holes up bash test, and he just dropped it. His whole body just slumped. And he said, are you serious? Are you kidding me? And I said, no, Bradley, I'm not. I told you. I told you you're going to be clean and you're gonna be persistent and consistent or not at all. And unfortunately, that is the very last time that I ever laid eyes on Bradley. He set the donut holes in the Yoo Hoo in the seat, and he looked at me and he said, tell my son that I love him. And he turned around and he left. And that's. He knew he couldn't pass the drug test, you know, and then.
Zoe Saldana
And he left.
Woody Overton
He left. He was gone.
Zoe Saldana
And that's the last time you ever spoke to him?
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
Or saw him.
Woody Overton
Last time I ever spoke to him or saw him in person. And.
Zoe Saldana
Okay.
Woody Overton
That's something I'll have to live with.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah.
Woody Overton
For the rest of my life.
Zoe Saldana
You know what? It's okay. I understand that. And. And I feel your pain. But your mama bearing. Okay.
Woody Overton
Yeah. I was, you know, just trying to protect Oliver and. And do the right thing. I thought I was doing the right thing.
Zoe Saldana
Well, you know, if he fed then clean.
Woody Overton
I question myself now, you know, because he wasn't going to leave with Oliver.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
What would it have hurt just to see him? But, you know, then Oliver would see him, and he would be happy and excited and want to know when's the next time could he see his daddy and I couldn't tell him that. Lord only knew when the next time we would see him would be.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah. And he certainly didn't expect it to be last.
Morgan Baggot
And no one ever does.
Zoe Saldana
Right. And. And. Wow. Okay, now this is where we're going to really, really start. Hashtag justice for Bradley. You know, it's Bradley's face. The. That's the last time you saw him in person.
Woody Overton
Yep.
Zoe Saldana
Now, I want you to take. To take me. And we have not discussed this the y' all. This is raw and unscripted. Want you to take me forward in time to certain date. And I want. I want to know, while we're here for Hashtag justice for Bradley, would you get a phone call? Somebody came and saw you. What happened? Tell me. You. You tell the story.
Woody Overton
Well, after that day that. That he was supposed to see him, and he did it, and we left. I didn't see him or hear from him, and. And time went on, and I just. I just prayed and I always worried about him. Constantly, I worried. And I was just living my life. I was going to school, I was working. I was taking care of Oliver, and I was hoping and praying that Bradley would clean up. And all the time. And something weird happened to me, you know, come October, for weeks, all of a sudden, I just started thinking so much about Bradley. I couldn't stop thinking about Bradley. Go to bed thinking about him, wake up thinking about him. And I was like, if I see him, I know he wasn't doing well. You know, you hear things. And if I see him, I'm going to stop. I. And I'm going to be like, what the hell are you doing? You know, get in my car. Where do we need to go? What do you want to do? Because this isn't it. And I literally. I never drove through Sandy Hill, but I started driving through Sandy Hill hoping to see him.
Zoe Saldana
That's where there he was staying.
Woody Overton
He was there a lot. He was seen and heard of in Sandy Hill, and I never saw him. I tried. I tried, but I had made up my mind about that. And I was like, man, why won't I just shake this? I need to just quit thinking about him. But I'm working down in south Louisiana. Sulfur. Long drive from My house. And I went to a co worker's house after work one day. And I'm sitting there, we're playing cards, and my phone rings and it's a friend of mine. And she. The first thing she says when I say hello, I'm excited because I hadn't heard from her in a while. And she says, I'm sorry to hear about Bradley. And immediately I get beside myself and I'm like, what do you mean you're sorry to hear about Bradley? What are you talking about? What are you. And she's like, you haven't heard? And I'm freaking out at this point. Her name's Amanda. I said, amanda heard what? What? Please just say it. You know, I'm thinking she's about to tell me he's dead. And she's like, well, he's missing. And I was like, are you kidding me? I was actually so relieved. I was like, missing. Do you know how many times he's been missing? Like he goes off on a binge or he takes his uncle's truck and skips down for a couple of months. He comes back a week. She know, like, he's gonna turn up, right? And so I don't even talk to any of. She says. She literally says, well, okay, if you're not worried. I guess I'm like, no, girl, he's gonna turn up. Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
You get any information or anything?
Woody Overton
No, no, I just know Brad. Somebody's looking for him.
Zoe Saldana
So, okay, so you get off the phone and what happens? How's the store proceed?
Woody Overton
I'm not. I'm not too worried.
Zoe Saldana
Same. Yeah, same drug addict behavior, right?
Woody Overton
I don't even call his family. Like, I don't he. Through the whole time, I stayed in contact with his family, whether Bradley and I were talking or not, but. Well, with his dad. But after a couple of days, you know, I'm not really hearing anything other than people messaging me, you know, hey, what's going on? What's going. I don't know. I was so out of contact with him. I don't know.
Zoe Saldana
So I started saying, I messaged you say, what's going on, Brad?
Woody Overton
Yeah, just random people, you know, because they're. They're seeing the whereabouts ad for him, you know, So I finally decide, okay, guess I already call and we start talking. I start talking to his dad, start talking to his uncle, start talking to his cousin.
Zoe Saldana
And what are they saying?
Woody Overton
Same thing as me, you know, wait, he's going to turn up all the time. He's gonna turn up, you know, he stayed away from his dad when he wasn't doing well. He was so ashamed. And he didn't want to disappoint his dad that bad. So, you know, that wasn't nothing new for him.
Zoe Saldana
He's a human being and.
Woody Overton
Time rocks on. And we there. There comes a point where we start getting worried because eventually somebody hears from Bradley, you know, when he. He goes off.
Zoe Saldana
Oh, you talking about not this time?
Woody Overton
No, not this time. But eventually.
Zoe Saldana
But I always say in the cases that run, but they always come back home. So safe place. Or they reach out to someone who's safe. But not in this case. Crickets. Right.
Woody Overton
Where he would usually be calling his Uncle Clifford, who helped him almost more than anybody. Uncle Clifford hasn't heard from him. That was the most worrisome thing for me. He would every now and then let his dad know, hey, dad, you know I'm doing okay. I would get messages when he would go off one o' clock in the morning number. I didn't know I'd wake up. And he's just saying, tell my son I love him. And I'm just letting y' all know I'm okay. Literally. And. And that's not happening.
Zoe Saldana
Right. So it's. At some point the first accident is taken is mom. Paul's Missing Persons.
Woody Overton
November 5th.
Zoe Saldana
On November 5th. And by this time he's. He's been missing how long?
Woody Overton
Well, however, the. The 30th to the October 30th to November 5th to six days.
Zoe Saldana
And so she files the missing persons report with Vernon Parish Sheriff's office.
Woody Overton
Yes.
Zoe Saldana
And what happens?
Woody Overton
They. They put out, you know, looking for Bradley Straisner. He's looking for welfare concern.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah. Safety check. But in their minds, to be honest, you know, if I'd have got it and a small place like that. Burn Parachute's house. I don't know how many deputies they have. It can't be that big. They're going to know who Bradley is that they would have wrestled him for. They know he disappears time. So they're like, okay, we humor you and take your report. But it is not. We're not. They weren't looking at it as a homicide investigation or whatever.
Woody Overton
Yeah, right. Not at that point. They, you know, but his mom was very, very, very worried. She was more worried worried than anybody did.
Morgan Baggot

That was a wake up call, but what really motivated me was this up to 90% of biological aging is driven by lifestyle that means how we eat, sleep, move and manage stress really matters and we can slow it down. True Diagnostic doesn't just show you your biological age, you get a full personalized report loaded with science backed steps to actually improve your health over time. Zoe Saldana
Available at pocket host.com terms and. And you talk to her. Why was she so worried this time?
Woody Overton
I didn't talk to her for a while after that. Her and I weren't as close as Bradley's father and I. But when we finally talked, you know, she was just saying, you know, it's getting cold, and he left my house in shorts, and he wouldn't stay gone without talking to me.
Zoe Saldana
Okay, the. Let's back up to that. The. So the last person that's on the record, or is his mama seeing him.
Woody Overton
Leave the house, his mother and two other individuals that also lived in Sandy Hill.
Zoe Saldana
Right, let's talk about what. What his mom said about the last time she saw him. And what did he say?
Woody Overton
He just told her that he would be back by later. She. She says that he said, bye, mom, and I love you, and. And I'll see you later.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
And almost six years later.
Zoe Saldana
Well, let's go six days later. First.
Woody Overton
Yeah, he.
Zoe Saldana
She didn't hear anything from. So at this point, now y' all are starting to worry. His family's starting to worry. You're starting to worry. And Bradley's nowhere to be found. Yes, but what was found?
Woody Overton
There was a vehicle.
Zoe Saldana
Tell me that he was driving, and how he. How we know that he became. Came to be in possession of the vehicle, and. And where that vehicle ended up.
Woody Overton
So he was driving his girlfriend's car, and he was supposed to be returning that vehicle. And Chelsea is his girlfriend's name. She started calling his mother and the other two people that he was supposed to be visiting, and she's saying, hey, you know, it's getting really close to time. I need to get my son, and I need the car. The car is not her car. It's her grandmother's car. And, you know, it's getting later and later, and Bradley is not showing back up in the vehicle.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
And so there's communication between the two individuals where he was supposed to be going. Communication between Bradley's mother and the girlfriend. And the last word that Chelsea heard was from the two individuals, he said, he's coming. He's gonna bring the car back. He says, okay, she's calling them because Bradley does not have a phone.
Zoe Saldana
Right. And, hey, I would assume these two individuals. I mean, she's gonna be like, I'm gonna report this stolen.
Woody Overton
She did say that.
Zoe Saldana
And. And I was just guessing because I worked these cases, and that it might have been a crack loan or a meth loan or whatever. They give me the car for the day, Here's a bump for you or whatever. And I'm not saying that's what the case was, but obviously Bradley had possession of the vehicle. He doesn't have a phone. Chelsea's reaching out, like, hey, I'm about to call the cops, report stolen, because you're not gonna leave me. Not picking up my daughter, and my grandmother's gonna, you know what? Whatever. That shit's gonna happen. And these two individuals tell Chelsea that Bradley said he's bringing the car back.
Woody Overton
Yeah. That they're relaying, you know, the message.
Zoe Saldana
Chelsea never talked to him.
Woody Overton
No.
Zoe Saldana
She's just getting a relayed message. And then what happens with the car?
Woody Overton
Well, what she was afraid of was that her family also was going to report the car missing.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah.
Woody Overton
She needs to get her son, and she doesn't want to do that.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
So when he doesn't show up, she had no choice but to tell them. There's some individuals that live up the road at a dead end from the house that he was visiting. They pull out of their driveway to go to town, and there's this random vehicle sitting there, and it's backed up to a gate. The gate's closed, the keys in it. And they're like, that's weird. There's nobody that lives back there but them.
Zoe Saldana
Right.
Woody Overton
They go to town, and they're gone all day. And they come back, and the car's still there. So at that point, they decided to call the sheriff's office, and they said, hey, there's this car just sitting here. It seems a little suspicious. Y' all should come check it out. Well, in the meantime, Chelsea's family had already reported the car stolen. So when they get that call and go see the car, boom, 29.
Zoe Saldana
That's. That wasn't it. So the deputy response, they run the license plate.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
Get the alert. Stolen vehicle.
Woody Overton
And. And they call. They call the family and say, hey, we know where your car is, and you can come and pick it up. Now, this is. This is October 31st. That the car is picked up.
Zoe Saldana
And this is. So that's still five days before mama reports.
Woody Overton
Before the report.
Zoe Saldana
So the. They come pick up the car. No Bradley. Chelsea never hear some Bradley. You don't hear Bradley's parents don't hear from Bradley?
Woody Overton
No.
Zoe Saldana
Oliver doesn't hear from Bradley.
Woody Overton
No.
Zoe Saldana
The. No one hears from Bradley. And this is October 31, 2019.
Woody Overton
2019.
Zoe Saldana
No Bradley.
Woody Overton
No.
Zoe Saldana
Where's Bradley. All right, lifers, we're going to end this episode because it's been an hour. The want you to get a taste. Bradley Strasner, human being. The father, the husband, the son, the friend, the worker. Human being. Real dude, real guy. I'm sitting there looking at his pictures and he's loved, right? Narcotics addiction happens. No one should be having it like this. Morgan driving all the way across the state to come record Bradley Stracer story and open this case the way it should be open. And we're gonna handle it the way it should be handled. But no one deserves to go through that. And we're going to need everyone to like and share, share, share, share, share these episodes. And yes, I'm going to open a tip line. And that tip line, y' all, as in the past cases that we solved together, the tip line. You can remain totally anonymous or you can give me all your I don't care. I do not have to report it to law enforcement. I'm no longer a member of law enforcement. You can tell me anything you want to tell me. Could be anonymous, but I'm going to look into every single tip. I'm gonna flip every rock and I'm gonna work every lead until either I get off of it because I disproved it or I'm gonna stay on it because I can't get off of it. And that's called work in a case. And then. And y' all, there's so much more that we'll get into on the next episode that happens in this case. And you're going to die when you hear, I mean, the. There are a lot of things that happen that are very unusual in out the box on a case like this. But then. And I was like, yeah, that's really interesting and I think we could do something with this. But there was one night around midnight, I was laying in bed and I'd gone on like a three hour Bradley stracing trip. And in the watching every news article and everything else and I'm there's a lot. There's a lot. And in watching all of Morgan Baggot's tick tocks, it's under where's Bradley Stryston? Right? Yes, the but and then, then I just hit a certain point. I was like, what the and and then I just started messaging Morgan in the middle of the night. I said it was long text. I said, I hope you're sleeping and getting rest. I said, now I'm pissed and this is ridiculous. And I said, do not tell Anybody. I'm coming but I'm coming. And don't tell anybody we're taking this on. I need some time to work things out. It's been a couple weeks by Morgan. A couple weeks ago that text and. And so and I needed more time to get into it and Morgan I've been communicating non stop and and there's.
Morgan Baggot
Just so much to the story.
Zoe Saldana
You've got every story. It's not like it's competition, right? Corny Coco's or Mary Pushos or Ms. Barbara's or Haley's or whatever. Every story is different. This one has more twists and turns than you could ever believe and including other murders. Okay. And. And believe it or not, I don't like to do it. I believe blue been a cop my whole life. We got some cop shit we got to deal with and. And I don't choose fight these battles Sometimes people are so stupid that these battles have to be fought and yes you're all going to get pissed off but I need you to please continue to listen and share share Hashtag justice for Bradley everywhere every every post when you start commenting Hashtag justice for Bradley. Now when you go to Morgan's. Tick tock Morgan. I don't. I don't know how all that really works. I know I you know have a pretty big following but the. You did a. A video in the last since we've been. I told you I was going to take the case. We did a video hinting that was coming out and he got over 200 some thousand views in a couple days.
Woody Overton
Right.
Zoe Saldana
So people are. Bradley made his choices the. The. The drug choices and. But it still is a human being and I'm telling you Bradley is deader. And I hate to be crude but I'm just gonna say he's dead or because he is my professional opinion the. And they. Oh just wait. I just wait. But. But to the people who did it. Best thing you can do to turn your ass in now. All right. It's not going to stop and you don't know who's going to flip on you. I already have tons and tons and tons and tons of information but one by an elephant at a time. Ms. Morgan, thank you for sharing your story. This is exactly why I don't script shut I don't want to know ahead of time your story about the last time you saw him. Holy.
Woody Overton
You had never heard that before.
Zoe Saldana
No I. I did never heard before and and you know stuff like that. I didn't know I knew where the car was found But I know that they had driven out and seen and came back later on. It's all the stuff, and I think that makes for a better story. And y' all, I'm. When I say that, I mean, get you invested. All the life was invested in Bradley Stracer. Hashtag justice for Bradley. And I love and appreciate each and every one of y' all. Morgan, thank you for being here. We're actually just gonna take a little break.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Zoe Saldana
And then we're gonna get back to it again. But thank you for being here. Thank you for being here. And I want to ask you, do you have anything that you want to say?
Woody Overton
I. This is really surreal. I have a lot of faith in you. I have a friend that I love dearly. I think on her list, you're next under Jesus. Just if we're being honest. And I'm very thankful to be here. And it's surreal. I do always try to keep my composure, but when I told y' all that little story about the last time I saw Bradley, I can't help it. Sometimes it comes out of my eyes.
Zoe Saldana
Is all about being real. Real life, real crime and crying is totally acceptable. All right. And so is anger and everything else. And just. Just. We need that because Bradley had been a good dude and a good father and a good person before he got the addiction, then we wouldn't be sitting here. You didn't have that anger and stuff and built up inside of you and y' all. The next episode, we're going to really start to talk about why after all these years, it's an ex wife, Bradley Str. Who has been carrying this torch and pressing this fight. And it's been a hell of a fight.
Woody Overton
It's been a heavy load, and I'm so happy to watch it take a turn with you.
Zoe Saldana
Yeah. Well, you know what we're going to do, and we're going to work it. We're going to work it on the podcast. I'm going to work it, and we're going to work it. And those better be. They just go turn themselves in, save us all the trouble, and. And then you get to put your spin on it with the cops. Because when I'm done and I'm going to investigate it correctly with someone who actually knows what they're doing, and we'll get in all that in the end. They better go in and. And try to put their spin on this story before we're done. But we'll get off of that love and appreciate each and every one of y' all. Thank you so much again. Hashtag justice for Bradley. Go on Tik Tok. So just go to Tik Tok and type in where is Bradley Str.
Woody Overton
Yes.
Zoe Saldana
And you'll see all Morgan's videos and how she's been carrying this torch for all these years. So I love and appreciate each and every one of you. Thank you for liking, listening, sharing. Let's do it, lifers. We can do this. We can bring this case home. Let's get justice. Hashtag justice for Bradley. And I'm Woody Everton. Real Life Real Crime | #JusticeForBradley Ep 1 Summary
Podcast Information:
In the inaugural episode of the "#JusticeForBradley" series, host Woody Overton delves deep into the mysterious case of Bradley Strasner. Joined by Morgan Baggot, Woody unpacks the intricate details of Bradley's life, his struggles, and the circumstances leading to his disappearance. This episode sets the stage for a multi-episode investigation aimed at uncovering the truth behind Bradley's vanishing.
Woody shares his longstanding relationship with Bradley, highlighting their evolution from childhood acquaintances to adult partners.
Early Beginnings: Woody recounts meeting Bradley during his teenage years, describing Bradley as a close family friend and a significant presence in his life.
Marriage and Family: Woody and Bradley married on January 1, 2013, shortly before the birth of their son, Oliver, on February 19, 2013. Woody fondly describes Bradley as a loving husband and father, emphasizing his patience and dedication to their family.
Woody Overton [16:54]: "Oliver was born in Deridder just at a hospital up the road from my house."
The episode delves into the troubling phase of Bradley's life marked by substance abuse, which strained his marriage and ultimately led to their divorce.
Onset of Addiction: Bradley began struggling with methamphetamine use, coupled with the abuse of prescription pills like Xanax. Woody notes the gradual shift from occasional use to more severe addiction.
Woody Overton [32:47]: "He liked meth a lot. And he liked pills too. Xanax is another choice of his."
Impact on Family: Bradley's addiction resulted in frequent absences, dishonesty, and financial instability. Despite Woody's efforts to support and help Bradley overcome his struggles, the situation deteriorated, leading to their separation.
Woody Overton [34:36]: "I held on for far too long. Even after I divorced him, we still kept seeing each other. I loved him so much. I still do to this day."
November 5, 2019, marked the day Bradley officially became missing. The episode outlines the timeline and events leading up to and following his disappearance.
Last Known Movements: Bradley was last seen on October 31, 2019, driving his girlfriend Chelsea's car to return it. Chelsea reported him missing when he failed to return the vehicle as expected.
Woody Overton [60:31]: "He just told her that he would be back by later. She says that he said, 'Bye, mom, I love you,' and 'I'll see you later.'"
Discovery of the Vehicle: On October 31, 2019, after Chelsea failed to locate Bradley, she reported the car stolen. Law enforcement officers later found the vehicle abandoned at a dead-end driveway, raising suspicions about Bradley's whereabouts.
Woody Overton [61:05]: "They pull out of their driveway to go to town, and there's this random vehicle sitting there, and it's backed up to a gate. The gate’s closed, the keys are in it. And they're like, that's weird."
Missing Persons Report: Five days after the initial disappearance, a missing persons report was filed with the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office, but initial investigations did not categorize it as a homicide case.
Woody and Morgan express their profound grief and determination to uncover the truth behind Bradley's disappearance. They emphasize Bradley's multifaceted identity—he was not just an addict but a beloved father, husband, and friend.
Woody’s Emotional Journey: Woody shares his internal struggle, feeling responsible for not being able to save Bradley from his addiction. His commitment to finding Bradley is fueled by both personal loss and a sense of justice.
Woody Overton [39:38]: "Second saddest day was walking into that courtroom to divorce him."
Calls to Action: The episode concludes with a heartfelt plea to listeners to support the investigation by sharing the podcast, using the hashtag #JusticeForBradley, and providing any tips or information that might aid in solving Bradley's case.
