and it was murder.
Woody Overton
So that being said, let's get down to some true crime time for today. And on this day in 1881, Billy
Co-host or Guest
the Kid, one of the OG outlaws,
Woody Overton
he convinced the guard to take him to the bathroom while he was incarcerated for the murder of Sheriff Brady, who was killed during the Lincoln county war.
Co-host or Guest
Now while being taken to the bathroom.
Woody Overton
Right. You escorting him and you know he's a.
Co-host or Guest
He's a killer.
Woody Overton
Well, the cop or the correctional officer wasn't prepared and Billy the Kid took his gun and killed him. Then he took a shotgun from the sheriff's office and killed another guard. So. And he got away. All. Everybody knows the rest of the story. Billy the Kid escaped his execution.
Co-host or Guest
The.
Woody Overton
That. That was probably one of the first things to ever go viral around the world and that was why snail mail and telegraph wires and everything else. An OG outlaw. So. All right, that being said, what are we going to start with today? It's time for family matters. You know, Being a parent and protecting your kids and in
Co-host or Guest
the.
Woody Overton
It's just. It's what you're supposed to do. Right. Well, we're going to Wisconsin. I'm gonna tell you about a dad who had kids. Riley who was 10 years old. Connor who was nine and Alina who were seven, who was seven. And they were killed in a fire back in November in their Wisconsin home.
Co-host or Guest
So guess what happened.
Woody Overton
It's been a lot of months after and their dad has been charged. Because he abandoned his kids inside the burning home where two of the kids died and then. And then the third was taken to the hospital and they later died. So the Victims again were 10 year old Riley Cannon and 9 year old Connor Cannon and 7 year old Alina Cannon and they were killed as a result of the house fire in Kenosha, Wisconsin on in their home on Thanksgiving in 2025. And it's according to Kenosha PD
Co-host or Guest
the
Woody Overton
children were named by the police but they were identified in local outlets as well as a GoFundMe which was set up Their father Joshua Cannon who according to a search warrant he had told the cops before that he had to turn back from the burning home with his children inside. But now he's been charged connection with the incident and this according to Kenosha County DA's office. According to the search warrant, the Joshua who's 39, the dad told police on Thanksgiving evening He and his two boys went to sleep between 9 and 10pm While Elena was still awake. Joshua told police he woke up soon afterwards with his eyes feeling cloudy when he saw a fire in the kitchen. It's all in search warrant. Y' all the quotations. Joshua stated he panicked and walked out the front door adding that he went
Co-host or Guest
to get A neighbor's help.
Woody Overton
When Josh returned to the residence to try to get back in, he told police he could hear his kids, but he had to turn back after he barely got two steps in. Well, I'm kind of calling bullshit on that one. I think 99% of the dads, you would have to, you know, not turn back from smoke inhalation. You have to be burning yourself. Right? So. And since then, investigators have determined the fire began after Riley and Connor tried to cook in the kitchen. And this according to the, the complaint. The, the, the warrant which was attained by everybody, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and the WTMJ and whatever. Joshua told police he had taken down the smoke alarm because of a possible malfunction and he had not replaced it. In the online obituaries, the children were remembered for their vibrant personalities and joyful spirits. Riley was a devoted older brother to his two siblings and he was a talented artist who had recently created YouTube channel titled Classic Sonic family. Connor was always looking out for other kids and was his sister Alina's protector. It's all an obituary all. And it adds that he loved the outdoors and was known for hard hugs. Alina had the personality of a girly girl and a tomboy all wrapped up in one. And it says she could be found skateboarding in heels and dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Princess Unicorn Cannon has been the dad, has been charged with three felony counts of neglecting the child resulting in death. And this just happened, y' all said. I mean the rush just happened. So it's not clear if he has
Co-host or Guest
an attorney or not.
Woody Overton
I mean, you know, I guess you never know what you're gonna do in that situation. But I really just don't understand leaving your kids to burn up.
Co-host or Guest
Yeah, I don't, I.
Woody Overton
It's horrible. Horrible no matter what. I don't know what to say about that.
Co-host or Guest
I remember a case we had where the house was on fire and the kids were inside.
Woody Overton
And Brad True, he's a long time law enforcement, wonderful guy. He actually went in to the burning home and like threw the kids out and came out to find out later on the mom had set the fire. Just tragic.
Co-host or Guest
All right, y'.
Woody Overton
All, it's must be that kind of day. It's time for family matters.

A Pike county couple was sentenced to

20 years in prison today in connection

to a child abuse case that was reported last year. Wymt's buddy Forbes was in the courtroom and has the latest.
Advocate or Commentator
Our laws don't allow for cruel and unusual punishment even to prisoners. So they'll never be subjected to the kind of punishment that they subjected those children to.
Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
Mary hall and Jerome Norman appeared before Judge Eddie Coleman and Pike Circuit Court Friday, each entering a blind guilty plea for the roles prosecutors say they played
Co-host or Guest
in abusing three children placed under Hall's career.
Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
Hall took over guardianship of her sister's children after she died in a car crash in 2018.
Advocate or Commentator
Not only they lose their mother at that time, they also lost her father because her father was convicted of some type of manslaughter and had went to prison.
Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
Prosecutors say she moved to pike county with the children in 2023 when she began a relationship with Norman. And soon after, the principal and teachers at Kemper Elementary School, where the kids were enrolled, reportedly started taking note of mysterious bruises and hunger patterns displayed by at least one of the students. After a winter storm in 2025 left students out of the classroom for an extended winter break, those concerns turned into a complaint to the Kentucky State Police.
Advocate or Commentator
The teachers were looking to make sure he's okay and he was not okay. He was practically starved to death in five weeks.
Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
That complaint was followed up with an immediate investigation, and troopers say they found the children had been living in a room which was locked from the outside with boards over the windows. Social workers say the K were forced to do manual labor and punished in several ways, including withholding food, with one child seemingly receiving the brunt of the abuse.

He sucked the insulation in the walls to try and get water.
Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
After attempts at mediation, the Commonwealth and attorneys for the defendants agreed on a blind plea for the duo, with attorneys saying the details of the case would be too emotional for a jury to see pass. And though prosecutors say Judge Coleman's sentence was the the maximum possibility for what was agreed and he imposed a 20
Advocate or Commentator
year sentence, we are pleased with that.
Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
Advocates say it will never truly be justice.
Commercial Announcer
There is no stimulus that standard or

Prosecutor or Legal Reporter
Buddy Forbes, Wymt Mountain News tell you.
Woody Overton
Some kind of special hell these people have coming. The kids. I don't know if you could hear it. It said the kids had to suck drywall in an attempt to get water out of it because they were dying of thirst on top of everything else. Unbelievable. You know, it reminds me on David Constance case, his own biological son. He would send him outside every night. There was a bunch of them living in the house. Every time it came, dinner time is sit him outside to pick up cigarette butts and by the time he got done there was never any food left for him. So when he went to his aunt's house, his aunt, I told his aunt that afterwards and after the CAC interview and his aunt said, oh my God, that makes sense because he, I keep finding food hidden underneath his bed, you know, because poor baby never knew when they were going to get to eat. Can you imagine? 20 years is not enough. 20 years in hell wouldn't be enough.

That's right, Eric. Last month prosecutors offered Jessica Mose life without parole if she took a plea deal, but she declined that deal. We spoke with a criminal defense attorney who is not associated with the case and he says that the speed of the prosecution and the speed that they're moving is what stands out the most to him.

year old Jessica Moats faces the death penalty as her trial is expected to begin this week in Hall County. She is accused of murder in connection to the death of four year old Autumn Fox last October.
Attorney Joshua Schiffer
This is a very speedy and timely prosecution that makes it difficult for the defense.
News Reporter Ray Danna
Roswell based attorney Joshua Schiffer is not associated to the case.
Attorney Joshua Schiffer
It's almost unheard of for a full death penalty prosecution to be commencing this quickly after the incident date. Death penalties are about the most complicated proceeding that a criminal court is going to undertake, according to a grand jury
News Reporter Ray Danna
indictment and arrest warrants. Moats is accused of causing the child's death through blunt force trauma. She's also accused of exposing the child to a combination of fentanyl, meth and Xylazine and accused of trying to conceal the body.
Attorney Joshua Schiffer
This is a relatively discreet and small prosecution that has allowed the state to move forward more quickly than they typically would, putting pressure on the defense.
News Reporter Ray Danna
Schiffer says. A death penalty case adds an additional complication to jury selection.
Attorney Joshua Schiffer
Excuses for cause are going to be more common when people have a moral objection to the death penalty being instituted at all.
News Reporter Ray Danna
Schiffer says in his experience, death penalty cases get appealed multiple times. He says he will be watching how tightly prosecutors present their case.
Attorney Joshua Schiffer
Very often the only defense in these very difficult death penalty cases is some sort of unforced error or problem from the state or the court that impacts a defendant's constitutional rights.
News Reporter Ray Danna
And again, jury selection is expected to start tomorrow morning at 9 at the Hall County Courthouse in Gainesville at the live desk. Ray Danna, Fox 5 News.
Listener/Caller
Yeah, all eyes will be on that case, Ray, thanks so much.
Woody Overton

Co-host or Guest
you know, they, they get appealed.
Woody Overton
Yeah, everybody knows you stay on death

row for 20 years unless you waive all your rights.
Woody Overton
And then the state takes 10 years to prove that you're sane enough to,
Co-host or Guest
to actually
Woody Overton
request the death penalty. But it is what it is, all right?
Co-host or Guest
This is why I say never give up, never surrender. And I love the podcast Medium Lifers
Woody Overton
are the best fans in the world. Yes, we've solved numerous cases and we're
Co-host or Guest
certainly trying to solve numerous more. But another podcast in the state of Louisiana is credited with helping solve a cold case. And let me tell you about it. So Louisiana, Texas are credited in a local podcast with Helping to solve the decades old rape and murder of a teenage girl. And over the past few days, police charged four men with aggravated rape. Now, y', all, that's first degree rape because they changed it since then, but they had to charge him under the old statute.
Woody Overton
But it's.
Co-host or Guest
They charged with aggravated rape and secondary murder for the killing of Roxanne Sharp 44 years after her body was found in the woods. Never give up.
Woody Overton
Just for Bradley. Never give up.
Co-host or Guest
Ms. Barbara Blunt.
Woody Overton
Never give up.
Co-host or Guest
Okay?
Woody Overton
The just never know when it's going to happen.
Co-host or Guest
So the backstory is the.
Woody Overton
Our Victim Sharp was 16 years old
Co-host or Guest
in 1982 when she was raped and murdered in the woods in St. Tammany parish, which is like two parishes over where I'm at now, maybe three. And it's about 30 miles north of New Orleans, and it's the last parish before you when you're going eastbound before you enter into Mississippi. So, as oftentimes happened, though, the case went cold and remained unsolved for decades until investigators asked a local media company to produce a podcast about Sharp's murder. And then the name of the podcast was who Killed Roxanne Sharp? And it went live last year with six episodes. And what happened? Reading right here in black and white, crucial tips from the public. And new witnesses contacted investigators. Same thing.
Woody Overton
We're asking one all the cases, right?
Co-host or Guest
They said it helped our investigators piece together where Roxanne was days before to the time she died to where we're at now. And this according to Louisiana State Police spokesperson Mark
Woody Overton
Gramillian, and said it was
Co-host or Guest
a very large help of getting that message out to the public and then therefore, those witnesses getting back to us. So Perry, Wayne Taylor, who's 64, Daryl Dean Spell, who's 64, Carlos Cooper, who's 64, and Billy Williams Jr. Who's 62, have all been charged in the connection with Sharp's death. Now, Cooper and Taylor, because they continue to be assholes, they were already in prison on different charges. And Williams and Spells were arrested earlier this week. Police said Sharp knew the four suspects and frequented the neighborhood where they live. The North Shore Media vice president Charles Dowdy, who helped produce the podcast, said his team didn't think there'd be much interest in the case, but we were quickly corrected. It's just like the cases we're doing,
Woody Overton
y', all, you know, trying to get justice.
Co-host or Guest
People want to help and.
Woody Overton
And a lot of time goes by
Co-host or Guest
and you have kids of your own and.
Woody Overton
And. Or some little thing that stuck in
Co-host or Guest
your head, call it in. Right. But in the end, I love this. The coveted police chief Michael Farrell said cold cases don't close themselves. They close because people show up year after year and refuse to quit. That is exactly what our agencies did. And today Roxanne and her family have justice they have waited for for so long.
Woody Overton
Hell to the yes on that. Congrats those people.
Co-host or Guest
Congrats to that podcast. Congrats to the law enforcement for actually working with the podcasters and not fighting them and actually wanting to solve the case and never give up, never surrender. And we're not the, you know, happens during investigations and cases go this way and they go that way. And if you're fighting against law enforcement because they, they messed up some stuff, then it makes it even harder on the case. But if you're working with the law enforcement like I am on Ms. Barbara's Blunt's case with Sheriff Art and the guys out of Livingston Paris, it's still hard. You know, you've got, you're dealing with murderers and these people don't want to go to prison, you know, and they got away with it for all this time. But now the worm has turned and
Woody Overton
those at in their 60s are finally
Co-host or Guest
going to be held responsible for the, the killing that baby girl. All right, this one next story, I just, I don't even know what to put it under foreign,
Woody Overton
But that there
Co-host or Guest
was a man who gave a 16 year old boy a machete and told him to chop a couple and that now this man's been locked up for six years. Aaron Thistleweight, who's 36, assisted and encouraged the attack on a man and a woman in Stockton which resulted in both victims suffering head injuries. And this according to the Teesside Crown Court judges. Judge Francis Laird KC said it was fortunate indeed the couple were not more seriously injured in the attack, which was prompted by Thistleweight becoming angry when they tried to avoid meeting him. This weight absolutely said, I didn't do anything wrong. But he was found guilty of intentional wounding while the boy admits the attack was detained for four years. And listen to this. The couple were walking down the street in the Hardwick area on the evening of 25th August last year when they saw a taxi pull up and Thistle Waite and Eve got out. Thistlewaite, who's a heroin and crack cocaine addict with the history of violence, he had previously stayed with the couple and they did not want to see him, so they turned and walked in the opposite direction. This weight shouted after them, then handed the boy a drawstring bag containing a weapon and told him to and this is in quotes chop them. This according to the judge in the court now although the they're calling a highly dangerous weapon was never removed from the bag. It was generally inferred it was a machete tight knife. According to the judge the youth hit the woman in the head first cutting her down to the bone. Then he hit the man across the head and shoulder leading him with cuts the quotations. It was fortunate indeed that they did not receive more serious injuries. According to the judge although this way did not strike any of the blows. He was convicted on the basis he assisted and encouraged the boys attack. Judge said you directed that boy to carry out the attack and supplied him with a weapon. Well the court heard this. Weight had multiple previous convictions including for carrying weapons and repeatedly punched a man in the face with a knuckle duster brass knuckle shaw for which he was jailed for four years and nine months back in 2019. The judge said this weight of Eagles Cliff close in Stockton posed a significant risk of serious harm to other people. You got that right judge. In both thistle weight and the boy were also ordered to serve an extra three years on extended license following the release from prison meaning parole. The how does a heroine and a crackhead have a kid riding around with him with a machete in a bag and afford a taxi but some hey yeah you could used to stay with us but we don't like your dirty ass and now you're gonna get a kid to chop us up. Thank God that blade was inside a bag we was doing. I'm sure it didn't stop much but it wasn't still on flesh. At least it was still on bag on flesh.

and we're going to Florida and a Broward Share Fire Rescue lieutenant so he's been there a minute is behind bars and relieved of DD after he slammed a 65 year old man's head and gouges his eyes while on a rescue call to help him. Carlos Lewin, a 43 year old nearly 11 year veteran of the BSO Fire Rescue is facing two counts of battery on a person 65 years or older. You ask how might this might happen right? Well on January 31st Lieutenant Lewin and other rescue members rushed to a medical call near the intersection of North West First street and 31st Avenue to assist Mr. Alan McPhee who's 65 and this court, the sheriff's office they move McPhee from his wheelchair to a stretcher. from about to beat his ass. Now, while the pair of firefighters are trying to get his vital signs, Lewin slammed McPhee's head against the stretcher for about 30 seconds. See? Slam, slam, slam. Counted out. That's a long time. Lewin then used his fingers to press into McPhee's eyes and struck his head against the stretcher again. That's according to the deputies. The course. Thank God. After the medical call was over, the firefighters reported what happened, and they started investigation sometime after Lewin was relieved of duty and placed on admin leave with pay while the investigation was going on. But finally, on Thursday, Lewin was arrested at the BSO public safety building and suspended without pay quotations. The rest of our fire, Lieutenant, demonstrates our commitment to holding our own accountable for the unlawful actions. The public can rest assured that internal due process will be fair and any results in discipline will be appropriate with inconsistent with policy. And according to Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony, you know, all kinds, bro. All kinds. At what point do you think, I guess this lieutenant thought, I can tell
Woody Overton
these guys to put him in ambulance so I can beat his ass. Well, that didn't really work, or they

moved fast enough for me. But while they're getting those vital signs, I'm going to smash his head for over 30 seconds.
Woody Overton
I don't know how many times that

is, but it's a lot. And then I'm going to gouge his eyes out. And what world don't you think you're

Woody Overton
And I'm sure the victim was complaining

I guess it's just the kind of day that this. Wait until you hear this. All right, y', all, we're going. Lufkin, Texas. And a Texas woman is behind bars after deputies say she dug up the grave of her infant daughter and removed the child's remains. Tamisha Drake is 33, was booked this week into the Angelina County Jail on a charge of abuse of a corpse. Angelina county deputies said they were called Thursday to the Davis Memorial Gardens after a report of a disturbed grave site. We've done some cases about people digging up graves, and I think this is like the shittiest thing in the world.

But.

According to deputies, the grave of a newborn infant had been opened in both the baby's body and the container in which the girl was buried were missing. During the investigations, deputies were led to Drake, who's the mother of the child. Investigators said Drake admitted to digging up the grave during an interview and told detectives where she left the container with the body, which was later found in the driveway of an unoccupied residence. The infant did not survive child survive childbirth in February. Now, Colonial Mortuary of Lufkin provided a proper burial for the child and assisted deputies during the investigation. Authorities said Drake potentially faces 180 days to two years in a state facility and a fine up to $10,000 because it's a felony charge. I,
Woody Overton
you know, the, the other cases

I worked for, these sticks went around at night time and dug up grays just trying to find some gold teeth and stuff like that. The. They're just sticks. I would like think, I wouldn't like to think it, but I would hope
Woody Overton
that this woman's just not evil and

that she lost her baby during childbirth. The, you know, the people she couldn't afford to bury them, the baby and then maybe postpartum, whatever. I don't know. The February, let's say February, March, April. A couple months later, she just lose her and goes out there. I'm not. What I'm saying is I hope, I hope it's a mental issue and, and not an evil issue because, like, I couldn't even begin to comprehend what you would do with your infant baby's remains. I don't get. Doesn't make any sense.
