Woody Overton
Hello, everybody, and welcome to this episode of true crime. Time for Monday, August 25, 2025. And I'm Woody Overton.
Cindy Overton
I'm Cindy Overton.
Woody Overton
And we are in the midst of that H word season, which I can't stand. And of course, Katrina happened this week all back in 2005. And it's just the busiest time and the big storm and the set time again, this is the busiest part of the eight season. And so we hope nobody gets any of the storms ever again. But that's not likely, right?
Cindy Overton
Right.
Woody Overton
Been through too many of them anyway. Prayers for everybody that are affected by them and don't like them.
Cindy Overton
I don't like them.
Woody Overton
Don't like them at all.
Cindy Overton
Know anybody that does?
Woody Overton
Yeah. Right. So, that being said, let's get to some. Well, hashtag just for Bradley. Hashtag just for AO. Hashtag just Ms. Barbara Blunt. Hashtag just for Haley is coming. Y' all keep doing the hashtags for everywhere you do the posts. It helps bump it up in algorithms and it gets tips. And they have so many tips and so many things we're following on. On hashtag just for Bradley and hashtag just for AO specifically with these. So hang in there. Can continue to listen and calling you tips 313rrc tip. And tips work, y'. All. Tips work. So let's get down some true crime time for Monday, August 25th.
Cindy Overton
Alrighty. We're gonna go. We're gonna start off in California.
Woody Overton
All right?
Cindy Overton
And something happened at a concert. And going reading over this story, it reminded me of a story Sophie told me last weekend. You know, the kids went to Houston and they went to Astros baseball games. And at the first baseball game, they had two people sitting next to them, two guys on one side of the, you know, Sophie's group. And as the game got on, the guy got more boisterous, more loud, more touchy feely, like putting his hands on one of them, like, you know, putting his arm around him. And, you know, luckily they weren't aggressive. They were just like, well, let's Just move down a seat. Hopefully he'll stop, you know, that type of thing. And so that is, you know, reminded me, because a lot of times that I've seen. And I know you've seen many fights break out at events over, like, silly things at concerts, at games and stuff like that. Well, recently I. At Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, there was something that happened when a woman's fiance accidentally spilt his drink on the man seated in front of them. So they immediately apologized and the man stormed off. And he returned about 30 minutes later. But he was enraged. So when he left, he just left. But when he came back, he was furious. He was enraged. He was shouting death threats to them. And then obviously, you know, the woman and her fiance, they're from California, they got upset and he did as well, because it was an accident. The things escalated between the fiance and that man. The woman stepped in to try to, like, defuse the situation, and that man suddenly, like, reached in, just, like, attacking them. He just started attacking them. The words in the article are pummeling her into the bleachers and continuing to strike her even after she went unconscious. So he also punched two bystanders before slipping away into the crowd. She was treated at the venue's medical tent, and she was not hospitalized. And she returned later to her hotel and she was okay. But the disturbing attack was captured on video and quickly went viral. The Pasadena Police Department confirmed a report had been filed and noted that the suspect's face appeared clearly on the footage, giving them confidence that they would identify him. And the concert goers start criticizing the event safety measures. And some described the venue as dangerously overcrowded and understaffed and cited congested aisles and poor crowd control. The concert was for a band or whatever called Rufus du Sol. I've never heard of them.
Woody Overton
Nobody else has either in our generation.
Cindy Overton
Right. And so they did a response, and they were just, like, expressing their heartbreak and of the situation. And they pledged to make fan safety more paramount in their planning.
Woody Overton
Pretty sure they should have done that anyway. And the. But you know, it's all about the bottom dollar. The less you spend the security, the more they put in their pocket. Right?
Cindy Overton
Yeah. And the more people you can pack in there.
Woody Overton
Yep, that's true.
Cindy Overton
And I don't know, like, bleachers collapsing and people, you know, hundreds of people getting injured and passing.
Woody Overton
Yep. And I'm sure whoever their insurance company is wish they hadn't ridden that policy.
Cindy Overton
But like you always say, some people are just ride it until a tragedy happens. Like The Pinto.
Woody Overton
And then. Yep. Then they gotta make a new policy and procedure.
Cindy Overton
Yes, you always say that, too.
Woody Overton
So this next door, you know, we don't do politics on this show, but this one is too rich to pass up. You know, takes all kinds of people to make the world go around. And there are certain things you do nowadays that you're absolutely going to get dealt with. Like if you're on a plane, say, I have a bomb, I, I want to hijack the plane. Okay. Passengers are going to beat your ass. Something's going to happen. Right. Or I don't know, how about this next one? Now, you know, Trump, when he was running for president, everybody knows he got shot, right? Yes. And the city, I mean, Secret Service is in charge, of course, of protecting the President. Most people don't know that they're in the lead agency for counterfeiting also. But they take what protecting any president doesn't matter if you're Obama or Trump, who, whoever, very seriously. Or Biden. Well, they got a lady named Natalie Rose Jones, and she's 50 years old, just a few years younger than us. And she got arrested on Saturday because she was one of these keyboard warriors on Facebook, Tough girl and, and Instagram. And she did some bad things on there that she shouldn't have done. The. But she made some threats. But then after the threats, she traveled from New York to Washington D.C. to.
Cindy Overton
Take it like to play out the threats to.
Woody Overton
She went with the goal of having Trump eliminated if the opportunity presented itself and this accordance to the U.S. attorney. So she said, I, I just don't understand this. I mean, how do you say this without knowing your ass going to prison? She said, I am willing and I'm sure a lot of people feel like this. But then I got dumb enough to say it, but I'm willingly to sacrifice sacrificially kill the POTUS President of the United States by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all the affirmation present. And she wrote this on her Facebook and on August 6th. And she directed the post at the FBI.
Cindy Overton
What?
Woody Overton
Yeah. So she writes the FBI and says she's going to go do this. So, well, Secret Service catches up with her and during the interview on August 15, she said she had the chance she would carry out her mission of killing the president at the compound with a bladed object. And it's not funny.
Cindy Overton
It's not.
Woody Overton
I mean, like, motherfucker, you're going to prison. They're not going to let you get anywhere within 50 miles of the President. So she was arrested the following day at a protest near the White House. And let me just read this to you. So on her post, she says, and she directs it, this is August 6th at 6:15pm to the FBI. FBI, Federal Bureau of Investigation. She tags them. Okay, let's say you have an elected official. Perhaps you are an American citizen even. And let's say you have rights and would like to be represented. Perhaps you place a call to the individual's office. Perhaps you make a comment on social media. Perhaps you email the office on a web form. Then feeling unheard, you protest somehow. Here's where we are. I literally told FBI in five states today I am willing to sacrificially kill this POTUS by disemboweling him and cutting out his trachea with Liz Cheney and all the affirmation present. And you did not come to my home this way at all. Let's deal with this and restore domestic tranquility. So look, what is our limit of the First Amendment? What do you need for me to remind the Supreme Court of the United States that we will not be terrorized by leadership by invoking the Second Amendment? I'm just trying to say don't kill people in mass unnecessarily. What do you hear? Let's finish planning this arrest and removal ceremony now. Immigration and Customs Enforcement knows that this country isn't going to continue with cruel and unusual punishments. Department of Homeland Security. She's tagging all these. Department of Homeland Security knows I have to defend my AARP patients who have been terrorized and will not be induced into psychotic hysteria nationwide to die by this administration. So please just have Woodlawn field station for my father's family. Chris Bavender from Minneapolis. New York City FBI for writers. San Diego FBI for guys who want blow jobs. CI, CIA nationwide, but can't all show up for marriage for real sober and Chicago FBI for my beloved home of 15 years. All come to the White House now. Let's coordinate this arrest for DJT's terrorism on the American people at the White House. At the White House.
Cindy Overton
I don't even know what to.
Woody Overton
To, to say this. It's like just here's your express ticket to federal prison.
Cindy Overton
I think she thinks there's a vacation in there.
Woody Overton
She. She tagged everybody. Five different FBI offices and the Homeland Security and ICE and everybody else. I'm willing to cut out. I want to cut out his trachea and disembowel him with a knife.
Cindy Overton
I'm surprised Trump didn't just show up at her door and said, come on.
Woody Overton
Well, sometimes, you know, this obviously is the best way to deal crazy is not to deal with him at all.
Cindy Overton
Right.
Woody Overton
And I don't know. There you have it. She got a picture of herself in front of the White House.
Cindy Overton
And you know what's scary about that? I mean, not what does crazy look like, but seriously, she would.
Woody Overton
She looks like a businesswoman.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
But I'm pretty sure if you zoom in on the White House on top, in the back there, there's a sniper with a rifle.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Anyway, there you go.
Cindy Overton
Wow.
Woody Overton
But outside the norm. But, y', all, you can't go around threaten to kill people, right?
Cindy Overton
Correct. Not even. Not even the president you don't like.
Woody Overton
That's right.

Did you know your calendar age doesn't always match how old your body really is? I didn't until I took the True Age test from trudiagnostic and it opened my eyes. Biological age is one of the most accurate indicators of how fast you're aging on the inside, and that directly predicts your risk for serious health problems. Turns out if your biological age is just five years older than your actual age, your risk for things like heart disease or cancer can go up by 30 to 50%. That's a real number, and it made me pay attention. I learned that my heart, lungs and hormones are aging faster than they should be, even though I don't feel it every day. My biological heart age came back at 65.1, which is higher than I'd like. My brain and immune system were also aging faster than my calendar age. That was a surprise, but not all bad news. My liver and musculoskeletal system are actually aging slower, and that gives me some hope. They also showed me something called my Dune end pace score how fast my whole body is aging year by year. Mine came back at 1.1, which means for every year that passes, I'm age of 1.1 years. Biologically, that pace has been tied to a 56% higher risk of death and chronic disease, which was a wake up call. Since getting my results, I've started tightening up my diet and I'm making sure I take my thyroid medicine every day. And I plan to get back into lifting weights because this isn't just about aging, it's about quality of life. Trudiagnostic gave me clear strategies to slow that pace down based on cutting edge research from Yale, Duke and Harvard. The test was easy. I did it right from home, just a quick finger prick. Mail it back, and a couple weeks later I got a full breakdown of how each of my 11 organ systems is aging. It's not just a number, it's a full map of where you're headed and how to change it. If you care about protecting your health and want to find out what your real age is, head over to truediagnostic.com and use my code RLRC to get 20% off your entire order or subscription. Cindy Overton
And this incident happened on August 14th where a seven month old named Emanuel was with his mother Rebecca in the parking lot of a Big five Sporting Goods and she was changing his diaper. When she said that somebody came up behind her and attacked her and she was unconscious. So when she came to, she noticed that her 7 month old was gone. So she immediately, you know, called 911 because that's what you do when there's an emergency. And deputies responded swiftly and they brought in the K9 units, helicopters and a whole search team. But they had no sign of Emanuel. An ambulance was not issued due to the lack of a clear suspect or vehicle description. So the investigation progressed. And as it progressed, some big inconsistencies emerged in the mom's story. So when she was confronted by detectives, she stopped the interview.
Woody Overton
Okay.
Cindy Overton
Both of the parents, Rebecca and Emmanuel's father Jake, became persons of interest and the scrutiny intensified. Authorities executed search warrants at their home in Cabazon and deployed cadaver dogs. And they also were analyzing surveillance footage. So now court records revealed that Jake was previously convicted of willful child cruelty. And in 2018. He was behind the law in a case involving another child, resulting in the conviction in 2023 and sentencing that included jail time and probation. So he also faces weapons related charges from 2024, which was the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon. Law enforcement seized his vehicle as part of their current investigation. For Emanuel, the Uvalde foundation for Kids, which is a nonprofit dedicated to missing children cases, initially deployed search teams and offered a $5,000 reward. But now, because of these inconsistencies in the parents accounts, the foundation withdrew its support altogether. So Emmanuel remains missing and authorities have obviously not ruled out foul play and the investigation continues. The couple's attorney has stated that they have surrendered. You know, that my clients have done everything that's asked of them. They've surrendered their electronics and they're cooperating with authorities and they've. And apparently the couple has received death threats and because, you know, the public is upset about all of this. But authorities have even removed the couple's two year old child from. Oh, they have another. I'm sorry. So they have another child. And the authorities have taken the two year old child out as of the home just to be safe. So that's that. Hopefully we'll get an update on poor Emmanuel and where he is.
Woody Overton
Right, right, right, right.
Cindy Overton
I'm always right.
Woody Overton
Going out to London, going across the pond with Tommy and all them. Right. So they had, you know, like when we go to Belize and cars and different place like that. Ms. Everybody like rides mopeds.
Cindy Overton
Yes.
Woody Overton
Like they'll have a family of five on them, literally.
Cindy Overton
With a chicken.
Woody Overton
Yeah, and a chicken and groceries.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Well, a 16 year old boy and he was riding his moped and it crashed into lamp post. Lamp post before he died. Oh, but why did he crash?
Cindy Overton
Somebody ran him off the road.
Woody Overton
No, he had been stabbed in the neck and chest and then he jumped on his moped and hauled ass after the attack and then that's when he crashed into the lamp post. So his name is Deontay Malwat Slater, and he was found dying in Islington, North London in the early hours of October 22 last year. And he died seeing the crash. Now, France Francie McCarthy, 22, of Islington is standing trial at the Old Bailey, naturally is accused of murdering Deontay. Prosecutor Edward Brown and KC told jurors on Monday, the police and ambulance services were called to what was immediately thought to be a road traffic collision involving the youth on a moped who had, it was then believed, driven into lamppost. Well, they Said Deontay had plainly been very badly injured. Somehow he was in grave condition with very few signs of life. But it transpired, however, that he had been stabbed to the front of his neck. Can you imagine? Soon it was discovered that he had been stabbed twice. In fact, he had suffered another stab wound to his chest. He very quickly deteriorated. Despite all the efforts of the ambulance service and the specialist medical teams who quickly arrived, he could not be saved or be brought back to life and he was pronounced dead at 1.16am they said he had been killed. The stab wound to the neck passed through the right carotid artery and subclavian arteries. The second and separate stab wound to the chest pass into the left lung. You could add surgeons on the scene, they couldn't fix this to you, right? They said his death was not caused by any collision with the lamppost, which may itself have been as a result of Deontay losing consciousness as he road from the scene of the attack. Now, the prosecution says that McCarthy crossed paths for Deontay in court all road Islington that night. Then an altercation ensued during which Deontay was stabbed twice before riding off and crashing on the same street. Emergency service call shortly after midnight by Ms. Rose Gal Goobo, who was getting home when she heard the revving of an engine followed by the loud crash. She went out to see what happened and found Deontay on the ground. This was prosecutor told the jury she was the only person on the street at the time. Deontay was in those moments groaning and just moving, but very soon fell silent. She thought understandably, that the victim had crashed his moped. It was clear to Ms. Galgaboo that Deontay was bleeding. She saw some blood seeping out as soon as she went to him. Now, Nell Richards heard two boys or men shouting before the crash and from her window she saw a person wearing gray jogging bottoms running away. And the prosecution says that's McCarthy CCTV footage. London probably has more of that than anybody. The cameras CCTV footage from the time the incident was also played to yours, in which loud revving is heard before moped is seen traveling fast down the road, then disappearing out of view. A loud bang is heard and a voice is in her shouting, come here. As a man in a gray jogging bottom appears running down the road, apparently chasing after the moped. And guess what? McCarthy denies it, so I guess they didn't have the actual stabbing on it, but they're putting two and two together and believe it or not, this trial is still ongoing.
Cindy Overton
Wow.
Woody Overton
Yeah. They say about. Find out about a little bit about probable cause or beyond a reasonable doubt in London. Be curious to see. I mean, you got them there in an altercation. You got some camera footage, but not the actual stabbing. Well, they probably got some more evidence, right?
Cindy Overton
I mean, I would hope so.
Woody Overton
I would have said, too, they're gonna leave that case.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So I wouldn't. But we'll see. I'm gonna keep y' all updated. I just thought that was interesting because, like, really, he tried him for that, but, yeah. Anyway. All right, your turn.
Cindy Overton
We are going to North Carolina.
Woody Overton
Carolina.
Cindy Overton
This kind of. Kind of goes with a question that I posed a couple weeks ago when we were talking about children in hot cars. And you don't really hear about deaths in coal cars.
Woody Overton
Right.
Cindy Overton
When it gets cold outside.
Woody Overton
Right.
Cindy Overton
So this is not a child, but. And it's not a car, but it kind of reminded me of. Of that. So here's what happened. On February 20th of this year, deputies in Carteret County, North Carolina, responded to a call made by a man named Blair Hamilton Hayes. And he's 61 years old. He was going back to a camper that he had been at previously with a woman named Emma Jean teague. And she's 47. She was 47 years old. Emma was described to authorities as being medically fragile and significantly limited in mobility, partially blind, and had been left alone in the camper during the freezing winter temperatures with no electricity or heat. Hayes, like I said, who had been staying with her, it got too cold for him, so he went up the road to a nearby hotel and left her there. The next day, when he went back to check on her, well, he went back to her and subsequently, obviously checking on her, he had to call emergency services, had to call 911 because Tige needed to be rushed to the hospital. She was in critical condition. But despite all of the medical efforts, she passed away on March 4. So weeks later, she passed away.
Woody Overton
Man, that's slow.
Cindy Overton
Officials attributed her death to the end stages of liver cirrhosis, but it was worsened by the hypothermia. And they did find Hayes negligent, which played a significant role, obviously, by leaving her alone with no electricity or heat in a camper. So, following a lengthy investigation, Hayes was finally arrested on August 12, and he was charged with involuntary manslaughter. Based on the assessment that he had acted negligently by leaving Teague alone in the dangerous environment. And because she couldn't manage for herself if she had another blanket, she couldn't even Go get. You know what I mean? Like so. In addition, he faces assault charges, including assault on a female and assault on a disabled person. And that's in a neighboring jurisdiction. So he's just spreading his goodness everywhere. At his first court appearance, Hayes was granted a bond set at $100,000. And the charges mark a serious turn in the case that highlighted failures of care and the consequences obviously of abandoning someone, especially someone that's vulnerable in freezing conditions.
Woody Overton
It's crazy.
Cindy Overton
I would, I would assume because I mean I've been in campers when it's cold and there's no insulation, you know, it's almost like that cold magnifies.
Woody Overton
Yes. Tin walls and stuff. Yeah. The. Anybody tells you they don't mind the cold or whatever, I mean I have a thickness for myself, but they, they've never truly, truly been cold.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And I remember one time being when I was in the army, the, I was on the advanced recon team because the nuclear, biologic, chemical stuff we'd go in when we were in the field. You move them from one spot to another with our advanced team would go in and I'd run the test, make sure it was no chemicals or whatever, no radiation, etc. And it was so cold I nursed, but I left my bag and one of the trucks that was coming because we flew in on a helicopter got out that had to secure there and they came in like way, way, way after darkest total blackout conditions. And I couldn't find my. And I like to froze to death that night. And I had on cold weather gear and I thought, I was. Literally thought I was gonna die. And being that cold sucks.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So anyway, well, this past weekend I was supposed to go snapper fishing and you know, the, the snapper season, y', all, if you don't know in red snapper in Louisiana they have, they do it by quota now. Like almost £900,000 of quota this year is what it is. They do it to control the fishery and it's a, you know, very fine eating fish. But you only get four per person and stuff like that. But it's a big deal, big business and you know, like to do it at least once a year. But you know, they got captains like her good buddy Captain Calvin Naval and the balls Cajun charters that we fish with the. And they, they make their livings being captains and taking people out fishing.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So we're gonna go to the Florida Keys and the grouper is another great fish to eat. It's, it's, it's like yes, like one of the most sought after. And you go out on these charters and catch eight or nine different kinds of fish. But the, the red snapper, we're going strictly for red snappers. Right, right. So we're going to Florida Keys. And they had a charter captain, the fishing captain, and he got some groupers, a sack of square groupers.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
More than.
Woody Overton
50 pounds of cocaine he found near marina and the Florida Keys. Yeah, I don't know how I feel about that, but if I had some drug connections, I might not turn that in.
Cindy Overton
But it might have some tracking devices on it.
Woody Overton
Yeah, they might, right? I mean that's a lot of fucking money. Street value like 28,000 a key. So over a million dollars. Yeah. So the fishing captain found over a dozen clear wrap packages containing what authorities to believe to be about 55 pounds of cocaine near the square Grouper Marina and Ismadora. This according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The cocaine was turned over to U.S. border Patrol. And the marina that's there naturally takes its namesake from the local slang, square grouper. Coincidentally, it's what the residents in the 70s and 80s would call drug bundles. So. But you know that they, they've become so advanced now. Every time the, you know, now you got the coast guards in the fight against it, you got. Everyone's doing it, but they, they taking old submarines and literally we go like from Columbia to Florida in a submarine underwater and pop up and unload on boats. Or they'll go in, they'll drop it from planes with weights on them with timers like shit that dissolves and with GPS things on it. And you know, two days afterwards, nobody just knows anything, gets this captain or somebody likes them, goes out in the thing and when the, the thing, the dissolves, it pops up the float pops up to the top and they running and scoop and pick them up. It's a lot of big law, supply, demand. Yeah, and the, the ways they do it and I like to watch, I don't even watch like regular cop shows, like murder shows and. But I will watch these border shows because I find it very intriguing all the different ways they try to get it in. It's crazy.
Cindy Overton
Well, if they, you catch them doing one, they're gonna go do another one.
Woody Overton
Yeah, that man, they're so. It's just a game of cat mouse. They got them, you know, now you got our infrared heat sensing and you can catch people about on boats at night time going between and you know, a lot, a lot of the smuggling now is, is human Cargo.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
It's worth more than doubt.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And. But yeah. Crazy and crazy. I would have liked to have done that though.
Cindy Overton
You would have been. Oh my gosh, you would have been so much fun. Can you imagine had you gone to the border patrol and met up with my dad and when he was in the ACU and doing his under you would have been going in about the time that he was in the acu.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Cindy Overton
Anti smoke asu anti smuggling unit. And he would have fallen madly in.
Woody Overton
Love with you spent time down on the Florida Keys and started doing exactly that. But nowadays they've upped the game. Like they'll come up on the boats and these boats will run and try to throw bundles and shit.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
They give you like one warning and then they, they shoot out the motors.
Cindy Overton
I believe it.
Woody Overton
Blow them out and then. I mean they don't play.
Cindy Overton
No. But yes. The. His time at the Florida Keys was one of his most favorite times. He was. He was a beach. What do you call it? A was something.
Woody Overton
Beach bomb.
Cindy Overton
Beach bomb.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Cindy Overton
Yes he was. I mean he grew up in Biloxi and then lived in Virginia before that. He was just a beach bomb and he thrived in that environment.
Woody Overton
And no doubt we the we definitely we would have thrived in the Florida Keys.
Cindy Overton
Also my screensaver that I will never change on my Facebook page picture him at the Florida Keys at the low. At the most south point you could get at sunset.
Woody Overton
That's right. And very famous spot. The So I want to do one more and I'm going to try to get this audio on this video to play, see if it works.
Cindy Overton
A bag of dogs that mauled a 17 year old girl in Newberry Springs has been removed this almost a month after it happened. Deputies say the teen girl was jogging when 10 or more big dogs attacked attacked her. They say they were roaming around with leashes or fencing. Without any of that a good Samaritan jumped in to rescue the girl. Deputies say the dog bites left the girl with deep wounds and removed flesh. Neighbors say the dogs have been an ongoing issue. My car is got torn up from them dogs. We tried to call them cops for too many times. Every. Every time we call the cops they never came. They never came and took those dogs. Sixteen dogs in all were taken today. Deputies say they arrested the dog's owner, 61 year old Craig Simmons. His court date is tomorrow.
Woody Overton
Yet 16 big ass dogs and this girl's run. This is in California and this teenager out for a dog and she gets almost eaten to death. Yeah yeah. And this. According to San Bernardino County Sheriff's office. The. The girl's name was Hurtado, and she was jogging when she was attacked by at least 10 of the large breed dogs. And they weren't fence, fenced in, or leased. Right. They got the bad guy. The owner, Craig Arthur Simmons, who's 61 years old. They arrested him on August 13th, a month after. I don't understand that. The. They said he lived with more than a dozen dogs. The dogs bit the victim several times on her legs and arms. And the bites called large lacerations operations and removed flesh. Oh, yeah, you're not getting that back. And that's from the. That good Samaritan jumped in. Thank God for them because they killed her. So she was taken to Loma Linda University Medical center for treatment. So they booked Simmons into the high desert detention center on suspicion of being the owner of an animal that calls seriously body injury or death, and he's still locked up. So her toddler's mom, Maria, as a psha, said she recounted the heartbreaking aftermath of the horrific attack. So I got close to her, and she's like, mom, am I still pretty? She said. I said, of course. You're beautiful. So the nature of her injuries forced her to remain home from school for medical care and rehabilitation. And she was getting ready to start her senior year when it. When it happened. She. They said she was getting ready to do her senior year of high school this year. And now, because this, she has to stay home and go to several doctors appointments and rehab. And due to trauma, she cannot sleep at night. She's having nightmares.
Cindy Overton
I guess so.
Woody Overton
So there you have it. I don't know.
Cindy Overton
So concerns me about, like, Ms. Barbara Haley's mom has this mission to have, like, a sanctuary for animals that are in the elder stages or have met medical issues. But there's time. There had been time periods in the past where she had multiple dogs in her home. And, you know, she's frail herself.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Cindy Overton
And it's just. You don't know if that dog's gonna turn on you. No matter.
Woody Overton
No. But she also sent me a video. Walled hogs in the street. And they were like, look at them. Pretty cow.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Can we catch them? Like, that is a wild pig. That thing will kill you in more ways than one.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Yeah. But I mean, I don't know. Just. It is what it is. I don't know.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
But there you have it.
Cindy Overton
Animals are animals. I mean, at one time, domestic dogs obviously weren't domestic. We domesticated them. You know, they were. They were wild animals for real.
Woody Overton
Right. So I don't know the I'm gonna do wrong one more real quick. And so it's not really a crime though. And so I'm not even gonna do world rock crime or anything. Yeah, I used to love to watch, you know, I love auctions, period.
Cindy Overton
Oh my God.
Woody Overton
And. And the storage auctions. I used to love to watch the shows and try to find that almost went to some. And you know, you buy these lockers sight unseen. The bidder, you bid them up and that's the way property managers to get their money back on. On people that just subscribed and don't pay the rent.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So the.
Storage Auction Narrator
Are you overwhelmed by how much stuff you have these days? Well, if you're renting a storage unit to hold on to the excess, you may be paying more for the storage than your items are worth. Mike Fastnick, like so many of us, has a lot of stuff. So he rented a storage unit. Until the other day, I actually thought.
Woody Overton
It was a mistake.
Storage Auction Narrator
The rent on his unit jumped from $130 to $235 a month.
Woody Overton
Manager told me yes, the ownership had been reviewing prices and your price was increased.
Storage Auction Narrator
Online forums are filled with complaints about price increases as storage companies catch up with pandemic pauses in their rent hikes. But Mike says this came as a shock.
Woody Overton
As much as $105 is seems outrageous.
Storage Auction Narrator
Those bills add up. The storage industry brought in more than $54 billion of revenue last year and is projected to grow to almost 75 billion by 2028. These facilities are stuffed with things people no longer have room for. Siobhan Roman is a personal finance expert. She says before you sign a contract, ask yourself some questions.
Cindy Overton
Do you need it, do you use it, and can you replace it within a year?
Storage Auction Narrator
Remember, it's not just the cost of the unit. If you can't pay, it will damage your credit and. And your items could be auctioned off to cover your debt. Siobhan says if you need storage for more than a year, try a shared space.
Woody Overton
Basically it's people renting out. Okay, y', all. Now why am I telling you this? The segways into the story. So the when you don't pay your shit, they will auction it off after so many days. And they had a guy, this all started when they call him the lucky buyer. Bought a storage unit from the storage war wars auctioneer Dan Dotson. And I told you I was London, but obviously it's not so this is a Show I've watched all the different spin offs and everything else. So us show it focuses on the sales of locked up storage units that have been untouched and unpaid for three months. Now the owner of the storage units is then allowed to auction them off without knowing what's inside. So what they do the the bus to lock. They'll let you peek, but you can't. You can shine in a flashlight, but you cannot break the barrier of the door. Yeah. All right. So the. In past episodes, people have acquired classic cars and unusual hidden gems. But one dude really did well.
Cindy Overton
Okay.
Woody Overton
Guess what?
Cindy Overton
He got a Rolex. In past, I've seen some wild episodes of finding some of those crazy things.
Woody Overton
Yeah, so they said. An older Asian woman at the table next to me kept looking at me like she wants to tell me something. Dawson shared on his joint YouTube channel with his wife and fellow auctioneer, Laura Dawson. That's. That blonde. Had a couple. Older couple. I love him.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So eventually she walked up and told me her husband works for the guy who bought a unit from me for $500.
Cindy Overton
Okay.
Woody Overton
And they found a safe inside. They do it all the time.
Cindy Overton
Oh my gosh. That's your favorite thing on this earth.
Woody Overton
They find juris and gold like that.
Cindy Overton
A safe to crack.
Woody Overton
He went on the lot. Most time they're empty though.
Cindy Overton
I know, but you still have a safe.
Woody Overton
He went on to claim that the buyer had bought brought someone in to open the unit but failed. They called us a second part to open the site. They called a second person. And when that person opened it up inside the safe, they're normally empty. This time it wasn't empty. Guess what it had.
Cindy Overton
I can't even. I don't know. Gold bars.
Woody Overton
$7.5 million in cash.
Cindy Overton
Just cash.
Woody Overton
Cash. Can you believe that? That's his 7, right? It is.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
7.5 million inside of a unit. I don't think you forget it, but.
Woody Overton
Maybe you were just in a position where somebody else was in charge of it. I don't know. According to Dyson, he said. Well, I was unclear where the money had come from. The wife, Laura speculated credit card went bad, it was finished, they moved away. Perhaps the person went to jail. Who knows what it was.
Cindy Overton
A person got killed.
Woody Overton
Right? The.
Cindy Overton
So, wow, do you have to pay taxes on that?
Woody Overton
That ain't saying that.
Cindy Overton
Well, he just said he got 7.5 million.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
No, he didn't say little Asian lady.
Woody Overton
That was at the auction that was friends with the dude that bought the locker for 500 bucks and had to bring in the second safe cracker over at 7.5 million. I bet that some is not in the country. No, no no no no no. He is long gone.
Cindy Overton
Be on his PJ somewhere but be.
Woody Overton
A crime in there somewhere. I'm pretty sure.
Cindy Overton
Oh yeah.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Why in the would you put 7.5 million in a storage locker yet?
Woody Overton
Yeah, that's hot money. Yeah, the that is some dirty ass money because otherwise you put a safe deposit box, you can put it anywhere in the world. Hiding your fucking bed ring. Why you put in a storage lock?
Cindy Overton
I read a story yesterday about a woman, an elderly woman that passed away and she left everything to her grandkids. And she didn't have a lot, but one of her grandkids that was seemingly the favorite got her couch and it was just like an old like, like 1970s floral couch and the rest got her jewelry and you know, stuff like that. And they were all laughing at her like haha, you thought you were the favorite. Well, she goes to take the couch to get reupholstered. The couch stuffing is money. It's in envelopes of money supposedly. Like I don't know how real that story is. I mean I read the story so.
Woody Overton
I'm assuming it's crazy.
Cindy Overton
I know. So yeah, I mean it was wall to wall cash.
Woody Overton
I would still like to go to the auctions, but I'm going to clean a store. She is out.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
That was a lot of work to have. Like some of them had teens. Remember Dave? Yep. He had trailers with a bunch of workers loaded it up to get them out.
Cindy Overton
It was a big conspiracy. Like when you look, you can't like make eye cat. Like if you see something you like don't like, remember the husband and wife.
Woody Overton
They bit each other off some good. So anyway, hashtag just for Bradley. Hashtag just for AO. Any thoughts or prayers from Ms. Barbara and them Hashtag just for Haley. I still believe that's coming in. Hashtag just from Ms. Barbara Blonde. We dropped the fourth episode this past week on of Sheriff's Ard's behind the Scene podcast.
