Foreign. Hello, everybody, and welcome to True Crime time for Monday, January 12, 2025. And I am Cindy Overton, and I'm riding solo today. And that's what happens sometimes when you are as busy as we are around here, publishing, editing, producing six episodes a week, giving you all of the content that we can. And sometimes you get both of us, and sometimes you just get me, and sometimes you just get Woody. And we do that because when a one of us is tied up doing something else, we need to keep things flowing and we need to keep the episodes coming. And right now, Woody is obviously busy working on something else because he's not here. But I do want to relay that this week, when he does justice for Bradley, episode 28, he will be focusing specifically maybe a few more things. But on the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office Facebook post that Sam Kraft left posted a couple of a week or so now, and he has a lot to say, let's just put it that way. He's got a lot, a lot, a lot to say. So stay tuned for that. It should release this week on Saturday, and as usual, Patreon and convicts should get it Thursday. We get them out as quickly as we can. And that's the schedule as of now. If anything changes with that, I'm sure we'll give an update on one of the episodes. But I've got several current stories that we're going to talk about today, and they are quite the stories, let me just say that. But before I do that, let me thank y' all because usually Woody does the thanking and then he turns to me and he says, do you have anything to add? And I just want to actually thank y' all for liking, listening, sharing and being lifers. If you're new here, welcome. If you're our OG lifers, thank you for staying and everyone in between. We are so, so blessed that you choose to spend your day listening to us, even a few minutes of your day listening to us. We are just very, very blessed. And I know that we have a lot of commercials running right now. And so if you do not like the commercials, you are welcome to join our app and become a convict and. Or you can become a Patreon. Join us in the app. This a great, great place to be at. It's not like Facebook at all. The only person or people that censor it and it's not censored is Woody. We enjoy having open conversations in there. So join us in our app. We have a lot of activity and a lot of different things going on in the app and we are so grateful for everyone that is in there and enjoying it. But let's just get started today. And this is a just a difficult, difficult story and I want to classify it as a Family Matters, but this person isn't technically family, so I'm not going to do that but on the evening of January 4th, deputies in Bibb County, Georgia were called to a home in Macon after a report of a six month old baby who was not breathing. And when first responders arrived, they found the baby who was later identified as baby boy Miles. He was unresponsive and Miles was rushed to the hospital and later he was transferred to Children's Hospital of Atlanta. And there doctors quickly determined that the baby wasn't sent there on a medical emergency. He was actually there for trauma. Someone did something to him. Medical exams showed multiple brain bleeds, swelling of the brain and a fractured collarbone. Doctors told investigators these injuries were consistent with abusive head trauma, which obviously means that the baby had been violently shaken and or struck. They said the injuries could not have been caused by a fall, choking or routine infant care. At the time Miles was injured, he was in the care of 24 year old Willie George Northern Jr. And he was the the boyfriend of Miles's mom. And police say Northern was the only adult with the baby when the injuries occurred. Northern told investigators that he fed the baby, swaddled him and put him to sleep. Sounds really, really nice and what you would want your caregiver to do for your six month old. But investigators say that medical evidence does not support that explanation and that the injuries that Miles sustained were injuries that required significant force. So since Northern was the only person with the baby at the time of the injuries, he was arrested and charged initially with first degree cruelty to children and tampering with evidence. Unfortunately, later Miles passed away from his injuries. He and prosecutors upgraded the charge to murder. Investigators then uncovered another critical issue. At the time Miles was injured, Northern was already under house arrest. But he wasn't under house arrest in Bibb county where he was. He was on on house arrest in Houston County, Georgia for an unrelated case. And obviously that meant that he was legally required to stay at the approved residence. And he was also wearing an ankle monitor, but he was in Bibb County. So the baby was injured in Bibb county, meaning Northern was not authorized to be there at all. So now they the case involves two major questions. What actually happened to Miles and how someone under court supervision ended up alone with an infant while violating the terms of his release. And Northern remains in custody as the case proceeds. And I think we will probably be giving updates on this case as time progresses. So we're going way back to October of 2017. In Anaheim, California, there was a man, Humberto Rodriguez Martinez, and he had previously been in a relationship with a woman with whom he shared children. But In October of 2017, that relationship had ended and the woman had moved on. And she was dating a man named Daniel, Daniel Reyes. And he was 32 years old at the time. On October 17, Martinez went to his ex girlfriend's apartment earlier in the day along with a friend, Adan Zapot Leyva. And the purpose of the visit was to see the children he shared with his ex. This wasn't unusual for them. Martinez was there visiting his kids and they apparently had, you know, somewhat of a good relationship. And so he would go over there to visit, not a big deal. Right after the visit ended with his children, Martinez and his friend left the apartment. But later that evening, Daniel Reyes arrived at the apartment to visit Martinez's ex girlfriend, his his children's mom. And according to investigators, Martinez and Zapot Leyva returned to the area and waited outside. When Reyes later left the apartment, the two men followed him. And near the intersection of Santa ana Street and St. Helena, Reyes was ambushed. Police say Reyes was stabbed multiple times. He collapsed and later died from his injuries. Zapot Leva was arrested two days later. He eventually just pleaded guilty and he's now serving 15 years to life in prison for his role in the killing. Martinez, however, he ran like a little.

And he went to Mexico immediately after the murder and he avoided arrest for nearly eight years. In 2024, Mexican authorities located Martinez with assistance from US law enforcement agencies. And after a lengthy extradition process, he was returned to the United States in December of 2025 where he was taken into custody at LAX. As of January 2026, Martinez has pleaded not guilty to these charges which are murder, lying and wait enhancement and an enhancement for personal use of a knife. And for nearly a decade, Danielle Reyes family waited and prosecutors say the case has now finally moving forward. So good for them for not giving up and going through that lengthy process and getting the murder.

Now. This next story is still unfolding. Unfortunately, we have a 12 year old who's missing in Oklahoma. So 12 year old Ryan RJ Davis, also known as Riker, was last seen late on the night of January 2nd in Chickasha, Oklahoma and he was reportedly walking near a hotel in the area. When RJ didn't return home. Police issued an endangered missing advisory and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation took over the case, calling the disappearance suspicious. As investigators continued searching for rj, they ended up arresting his mother, who's Kimberly Cole and stepfather Gregory Cole. Authorities say the arrests were based on child abuse related complaints uncovered during the investigation. Law enforcement has stated publicly that they have not confirmed whether these arrests are directly connected to RJ's disappearance. However, investigators also said they had concerns about harm occurring in the home. Authorities have said they believe RJ may still be alive and the search remains active. As of now, the priority is finding RJ and determining what happened. So we'll be hopefully keeping you updated on this case as well and hope that RJ is found safe.

So this is kind of an update on story, a story that I think Woody and I have done two updates over the year that we've done true crime time for. So in east London, three newborn babies were found abandoned over an eight year period. One was in 2017, another in 2019, and the youngest in 2024. And each baby was found alone, left in public places and with no immediate information about the parents. Years later, DNA testing revealed that all three children share the same biological parents. The youngest baby is publicly known as Elsa. She was found inside a bag on a freezing night. And despite extensive investigation, I remember they were saying that, you know, law enforcement was going door to door getting, doing the investigation. But authorities have never publicly identified the parents. In January of 2026. Now this is the update part. A judge ruled that Elsa should be adopted by her current carers. And plans were also put in place to allow contact with her two older siblings. And those two older siblings have already been adopted and they're in good homes and they're doing well. And so now these three children that have the same parents with the same pattern of abandonment are being able to actually be able to have relationships with each other and luckily are in good homes and safe and hopefully very happy and thriving. So there's an update.

So now we're going back across the pond to the United States of America. We're going to hone in on Texas and then we're going to go even deeper into San Antonio. We're actually going to go straight to Blue Ridge on the west side of San Antonio, to be exact. And on the night of December 19, police in San Antonio, Texas were called to a home on the city's west side in the 600 block of Blue Ridge, where there was a reported domestic disturbance. According to police, an argument had broken out between two adults inside the home, a man and his partner and as the argument escalated, police say that the 20 year old man that was involved in the argument, he became angry and he grabbed a kitchen knife. Well, there was a 12 year old child at the scene and he was inside the home and witnessed the argument and he decided to step in and he attempted to intervene, not to fight but to stop what was happening. And during that moment the child was cut on the hand by the knife. Officers responding to the scene treated the situation as a domestic violence incident. The child was injured but not critically hurt, thank goodness, and police said the wound was not life threatening. The child unfortunately was exposed to adult violence and tried to stop it and ended up physically injured as a result. Police obviously did not release the child's name or the details about their relationship to the adults involved, which obviously is, you know, standard procedure involving minors. The case remains under investigation and police have emphasized, of course that domestic disputes can turn dangerous in seconds, especially when weapons are involved Real Life Real Crown.

And unfortunately, this is truly a case where children can end up traumatized, injured or worse simply because the adults that are present lose control. And you know, the adults, we are the ones that are supposed to be teaching our children coping skills and emotional intelligence. And this poor child is just trying to stop, stop the anger, stop the fight. For our next story, I'm going to take us to South Carolina. This is still an active investigation and unfortunately probably is going to leave us with a few more questions than answers. But the early morning hours of January 7th of this year, deputies in Spartanburg County, South Carolina were called to a shopping center parking lot after a woman was found unresponsive on the ground. And when deputies arrived, they discovered 31 year old Danae Josephine Waddell and she was pronounced dead. Investigators with the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office and the coroner's office quickly determined that this was not a medical emergency. According to authorities, physical evidence at the scene showed that Waddell had been run over by a vehicle and dragged. So investigators have said that the injuries were consistent with a hit and run and the case is being treated as such. And at this time, authorities have not publicly identified the vehicle involved, nor have they announced any arrest. Family members later shared additional details about Danae's life, including that she had recently given birth and was a new mother, which has made the case especially devastating for her family and friends. Investigators have not said whether Waddell knew the person who struck her, whether the incident involved an argument beforehand or whether it was a random encounter. Those details remain under investigation. What authorities have said is that they are asking for the public's help, specifically anyone who may have been in the area, saw a suspicious vehicle or has surveillance footage from nearby businesses. Like I said at the beginning, this case is still open and investigators are asking for every single bit of information they can get. I hope the baby is okay and that's just so sad. We're going to go to Mississippi and this is just a horrible. I'm sure you've heard about it in other news outlets. But on the night of January 9th, authorities in Clay County, Mississippi say that 24 year old Derecka Moore went on a deadly rampage that spanned Three separate locations. According to investigators, the violence began at a residence connected to Moore's family. At the first location, authorities say Moore shot and killed three relatives, his father, his brother and his uncle. After those killings, Moore left the scene and he went to a second residence. At that location, investigators say Moore forced his way inside. Authorities reported that he attempted to sexually assault a woman inside the home. And during that same incident, a seven year old girl was shot and killed. A second child was present in the home at the time, but luckily was not physically injured. I can only imagine the trauma that they will face throughout life. Moore then left that location and went to a third residence. And there, investigators say, he shot and killed two additional adults, one who was identified as a local pastor. By this point, law enforcement agencies across the county were actively searching for Moore. Authorities set up roadblocks and later that night, Moore was stopped at a roadblock and taken into custody without incident. In total, six people were killed during this rampage. Moore has been booked into jail and now faces multiple counts of murder. Prosecutors have indicated they were reviewing the case for capital murder charges, which could potentially carry the death penalty under Mississippi law. Investigators have not released a motive and authorities say the investigation is ongoing as they continue to piece together the timeline and circumstances behind the attacks. Unfortunately, this was just not a single moment of violence. Obviously it was a deliberate series of acts that wiped out families and has devastated an entire community in one night. So we've going to stay in San Antonio or go back to San Antonio. And on the evening of January 10th of 2026, police in San Antonio, Texas responded to a report of a shooting on the city's northwest side near Gardena Street. And that is an area that had already seen an uptick in violence earlier this year. Officers from the San Antonio Police Department say they were called to the scene after reports of gunfire and they arrived in the alleyway behind Gardena Street. When they did, they located a juvenile who matched the description of the shooting suspect. According to police, when officers ordered the suspect to stop, the teenager, who was a 13 year old boy, refused to comply and he ran like a little bitch. Authorities attempted to take him into custody, but the teen assaulted two uniformed police officers during the confrontation. Police say one officer was struck when the juvenile made contact with the officer's body shield in attempt to avoid being handcuffed. Another officer had to deploy non lethal force to stop the suspect. After the struggle, officers were finally able to take him into custody and transport him to a juvenile detention facility where he was booked on multiple charges, evading Arrest, unlawful carrying of a weapon, two counts of assault on a peace officer. And those are all tied to the events that unfolded that night. San Antonio police have not publicly confirmed whether the teenager fired a weapon during the original shooting or if he was just directly linked to something being struck by gunfire. But investigators said that the incident is still under review. And we're going to stay in Texas, near San Antonio and in northeast Bexar County. Deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office responded to a traffic crash in late November 2025. You know about November 2025. Hi co host.
B
Hello lifers.
A
I'm in the big C seat. You are. You the big dog seat.
B
And I'm in the wife seat.
A
You are in the wife seat.
B
So y', all, we've been really, really, really busy. Hashtag just for Bradley. Hashtag just for ao, man. Wow. You know, popping off, popping off. Y' all keep stirring the pot. I today I saw they closed down one of the Facebook's groups, whatever it was called, criminal conversations and what have you. And yeah, it is what it is. This is war. And. And obviously war is not. Not pretty.
A
No.
B
And bringing murderers to justice is not pretty.
A
People are such on the defense too. Like they're ready to attack anybody and everybody.
B
You know what? That's part for the course.
A
Yeah.
B
We've done this before. Yeah, You've heard me do this before.
A
Yeah.
B
And I knew what was coming and I know it's coming still. I have no idea.
A
But you know what? The darkness before the dawn. This is reminding. Reminiscent of people.
B
Yep. Anthony Burns taking the social media saying he's going to get me and da da, da da and all that. And guess what? I already knew he was getting indicted.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
So y' all just hang in there, you know, try to love one another. Have some peace in your hearts. I want to say one other thing about these ice shootings. Look, last week we had prerecorded before that happened in Minnesota. And look, if the, if the cop is bad, put him in. Put him in prison. The cop is innocent. Then don't put him in prison. Yeah, but the. We hate murderers. Whatever. Somebody sent me a message saying, oh, you're, you know, you're racist or you're. Whatever you need. You covered Charlie Kirk extensively. Let me tell you something about that. I didn't know who the hell Charlie Kirk was, but when he got assassinated, I'd never heard his name. And so, yes, we mentioned a story on that.
A
Yeah.
B
And we're mentioning the shooting in Minnesota. It's tragic. Somebody lost her life. Now you know they're come back and there's more videos. From the cop standpoint. Whatever. You know what? That's their job. That's law enforcement's job to figure out if that dude was wrong. He's going to prison. Then he won't.
A
A lot of people don't know that. When you work for the state police you were associate. You were part of internal affairs. That's right. And you did those investigations.
B
I don't like dirty cops.
A
Right.
B
And the. But the. There's three sides. Every story, his, hers and the truth somewhere in the middle. They will figure it out. That's their job. We certainly are. Don't advocate any police officer acting bad and anybody who knows what he Overton knows that. I've followed my entire career.
A
Yeah.
B
And still fighting.
A
And you've broken them down where they start crying at your office and everything. You know what I mean? Like you.
B
You get everything from rapes to shootings to whatever.
A
Yes.
B
And say if you're bad, buck you.
A
Exactly.
B
And but if you're, you know, because of the climb that's going on. If you found whatever. Let them do their job. I know we're on the side of justice. How about that? Justice. However it plays out that then whoever's wrong is just wrong.
A
Yeah.
B
And we don't take sides. I just want to say that. And then they said and I'm not following you anymore. Well you know what? Okay.
A
Okay. Next.
B
Justice for everybody. Go ahead with your store. I'm sorry.
A
Okay.
B
So I heard you're in Bear County.
A
We're in Northeast Bexxar County, Texas, just outside of San Antonio. I've already been there twice today.
B
Really?
A
Yes.
B
I don't know how it works out like that.
A
And deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff's office responded to a traffic crash in late November 2025. And when deputies arrived they found multiple injured children, six of them ranging in age from toddlers to preteens. And one of the children was in critical condition. The driver was identified as 31 year old Brittany Winston. An investigator believed that she was the one driving the vehicle and driving under the influence of alcohol.
B
With six kids in the vehicle or she hit another vehicle.
A
Well, we go ahead with under the influence of alcohol and possibly other substances when her vehicle left the roadway and collided, injuring the children. Authorities say the injuries ranged from broken bones to internal trauma and the kinds of injuries that require intensive medical care and long term monitoring. And because the crash involved multiple children harmed due to intoxicated driving. Winston was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention center facing a very long list of charges. Multiple counts of intoxication, assault, injury to a child, six counts of that and aggravated assault, six counts of that. And I think the multiple counts of intoxication, assault are going to be for every bone that's broken. Every, you know, and so this wasn't a simple fender bender. According to deputies, Winston's driving was the direct cause of the crash and left the children hospitalized for weeks and months.
B
Pray that they live. And she didn't catch a negligent homicide charge.
A
Well, she also had one prior crash related arrest. So this was like a second offense at least. And now that's going to play into how prosecutors pursue sentencing. And at the last update, she remained in custody and the case was being prepared for prosecution. While the families are still waiting on updates about the recovery of the kids. But I want to tell you something while we're on air. Do you remember that case that we did in London where the couple was having babies and leaving them on doorsteps? Well, the baby, they have it in a home and they have now connected the other siblings. So at least the siblings are being able to. Yeah. They're not living together, but at least they're getting to have a family of.
B
Some and they'll take.
A
Yeah.
B
Make sure of that.
A
Yeah. So that was one of the. I'm so glad I. I'm not giving up this seat now. I like it.
B
Well, I had a meeting this morning with our attorney, Thomas Davenport.
A
I didn't to say where you were.
B
Well, I could tell them or what you were doing. Had a meeting with Thomas Stavort about a lot of important stuff. And I'm glad to catch the tail end of this episode. And we'll be back tomorrow.
A
You were the highlight of my day. Did you see my eyes light up when you walked in the room?
B
Did you hear me bring the garbage cans in?
A
Yeah. Yay.
B
I brought them in two last night and the rest of them today. Now we have like six garbage cans.
A
Yeah, we're pigs. Apparently.
B
They'll have six garbage cans.
A
We do. But they cost one's a week. I mean, but we fill them every week.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyway.
B
All right. Love and appreciate each, every one of y'. All. Thank you for liking and listening and sharing. You know, try to find some peace in your life, people. But this. If you're in Bradley's case and you're in Austin abandon's case. And you know, I hate to say a lot of people want to be armchair detectives until they got their. Got their feelings hurt by other people and. Which is what happened. And. But, you know, don't stop talking about it. Don't stop doing what you're doing because these, these steps, the escalation, you know, groups getting canceled and people fighting with each other and, and all that stuff that's part of, you know, getting adjusted. Nobody said it was going to be easy. I told Morgan Baggin in the beginning, I said, you have no idea what you're about to get into.
A
No.
B
And I tried to explain it to her and she been doing TikTok for a while, but. But, well, guess what. Yeah. Yeah. Now we're seven months in and I mean, it's been. I almost say shitty the whole way. It's been a case investigation the whole way. And it's going to continue to go that way until they make an arrest. Yeah, we love y'. All. Love y'.
A
All.
B
Love y'. All. You got anything else? No, I don't either. And I'm Woody Overton.
A
I'm Cindy Everton.
B
