Hello everybody and welcome to this episode of True Crime Time 4 Friday, July 17, 2026 and I'm Woody Overton bringing you the true crime time stuff you want to hear, right? Shout out to her investigative producer, Leah Marie for making all these stories happen. Craziness that she finds that. I don't know if anybody else in the world could find it. And shout out to all you lifers for making this show happen. But the I want this day, July 17th. I don't know how I never heard of this story or there hadn't been a movie made about it or whatever, but on July 17th in 1976, a whole show happened. And the this is coming from different sources, but the they have a town in California called Chowchilla and it's a rural farming community, right? Kind of like where I'm from, but in California in, you know, peaceful place. I never even heard of it. Y' all heard of it? The until July 15, 1976, a busload of children and they were age 5 to 14 and their school bus driver, Ed Ray, who was in 55 years old, so you're younger than me. They were coming back from a swim outing on what they're calling the fairgrounds. Maybe they have like a late time instead of a swim pool or whatever, maybe a swim bottle there. But the I mean we used to swim in the ponds around here and stuff like that. But they're age 5 to 14. They're on a school bus with their driver, Ed Ray, and they're on a county road in Madera county at around 4pm in the afternoon, y'. All. So it's broad ass daylight and they disappeared. Okay, Now I could tell you one thing. The 26 kids 5 to 14 and your bus driver are missing. That's a real shit show for someone. Every parent and every school administrator, every whatever. Look, there was no social media and the news, if they could get there or whatever, it'd be a big deal. But it's not like it is nowadays. And so. But they just, they didn't show up. Nobody knows where they're at, right? So they start to look for them and they find the bus and it's empty and it's covered with bamboo and brush, and they find it in a drainage ditch nine miles west of town. So in the middle of nowhere. You have been in California or any agriculture area like that, they have the big drainage ditches, we call them coolies, you know, where they run off the irrigation and everything else on the farm fields. The. The victims, the. The missing were 19 girls and seven boys. Okay, and the. What happened? Well, they got abducted, y'. All. How in the hell do you abduct 27 people in total, including Ed Ray, the bus driver? And they got abducted. Not only they get abducted so that you. You can't do that by yourself, obviously. So it tells you immediately that's more than one person. But not only did they get abducted, they got abducted and they were placed in two separate vans and they were driven around for 11 hours. Y', all, the kidnappers drove them around for 11 hours before they stopped the van. And you know what they did with it? They buried it. They buried the. The vans in what they're calling Livermore Rock Quarry. Don't know if you're familiar with rock quarries, but the ones around here and Louisiana's, you know, state rock is the aggregate, and we have the gravel pits is what we call them here. And they dig and they dig and they dig and they dig and they get it out and it fills up with water. Right? The, they. They buried them in the rock horse and they're underground af. You can't get any more underground than what they did to these kids within. And they're alive. So after 16 hours underground in an 8 foot by 16 foot space, two of the older children and Ray were able to escape because they dug themselves out. You know what they use? They use their hands because they didn't have anything else. Now they're buried under all this shit and they. So they cut up their hands, they tore their nails. They did all this getting out, but thank God they got out and they struck out to try and find help. And it's craziness, but they got help. And the 27 were found in a remote area near the Shadow Cliffs, East Bay Regional Park. And naturally, you've been buried alive for however long. They take them in to, you know, see how healthy they are, aren't. They were taken to Santa Rita Rehabilitation center where they examined Them and all everything other than being really effed up mentally by being, I mean can you imagine being in a container and being buried alive other mentally. And the, in the cuts, the two older children and the driver and you know, the injuries they sustained digging out through the rocks by their hands. The. They were okay. All right. And the, the children and the bus driver Ed were returned safely to Chowchilla by a police escorted bus shortly before dawn on July 17, 1976 to this day, when I was six years old. So. But now the investigation starts and investigators go out and to you know, at where. How. I don't know how Ed Ray and them let him back to it, but they did. And they, they dug up the van and learned it had been buried in the quarry in November 1975. So this is a whole separate van. Okay. Or maybe, I don't know, maybe it was the same band, I don't know. But they said the hundred acre Portola Valley estate of the quarry owner Frederick Nickerson woods was searched. Right. We dig up one man. What else can we find out here? Now the investigation branches out and they're like okay, well this is, you know, who has access to the property that will. Frederick Nickerson woods has a son named Fred Newhall Woods IV and he was 24 years old. And guess what? He conveniently is missing. So the back then they didn't have the NCIC computer and all that, but they put out an all points bulletin for Fred Newhall Woods IV and his two friends that were missing. Also a dude named James Schoenfield, who's 24, and his brother Richard Schoenfield, who's 22. And Richard Schoenfield was the son of a wealthy podiatrist. Right. The also when they're investigating on the state, guess what they found? They discovered a rough draft of a $5 million ransom note on that property. Pretty sure I'd have got rid of that evidence, but I guess they thought they were safe. It's 1976, right? Well they rolling with it now. The. And you know, if there was ever an acute political emergency in eight, this was one. And so investigators going to, they're going to bring in FBI, everybody else in the world. And on July 23, 1976, Richard Schoenfield, accompanied by his attorney and father, surrendered voluntarily in Oakland and they held him on a one million dollar bail. Well, 1976, that's probably like a ten million dollar bill, right? On July 29th, woods was captured in Vancouver, British Columbia, because he ran like a little Bitch. And then to follow up the. The hat trick, if you will, the threesome, James Schoenfield was arrested in Menlo Park. And while he was getting ready to surrender. So evidently he had been in contact. Look, I'm going to surrender myself. They were, like, figured out where he was. Fuck you. We're going to come get your ass. And they. They got locked up. So that's on July 29 to July to August, September, October, on November 5. Four months later, a Madera county judge ordered the trial be moved from Madera County. I don't. I think that's fair. And on November 10, it got assigned to Almeida County. And in 1977, on July 25, woods and the Schoenfields pled guilty to 27 counts of kidnapping for ransom. Now, in the exchange for them to plead guilty, the prosecution dropped 18 counts of robbery. Then on December 15, 1977, a Superior Court judge found all three of them guilty on three counts of kidnapping with bodily harm. We and y', all, even in California, that usually carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Now, what I think on that one is y', all, that. That is the two older kids and the bus driver that dug themselves out. The. That's your kidnap, right? They can't say they were just holding other kids. They didn't kidnap. Whatever. The. The. These people actually made their escape, and they were injured in the escape. So kidnapping with bodily harm, that fits. And they go to prison in the story? I think not. This is effed up. All three of them were sentenced to life in prison, right? And they got to stand before the judge and judge like you. Sentenced to life in prison. Da da da da da. Well, guess what? California life doesn't mean life. Because by the year 20, 22, four years ago, all three kidnappers had been paroled. Can you believe that? Listen to this. It's. It goes even further back than that. Richard Schoenfield was paroled from prison in June of 2012. So that's 10 years before that. And his brother, James Schoenfield was released in August of 2015. And Frederick woods was recommended for parole on March 25th of 2022. Now, I'm pretty sure I don't know how old they would have been. Let's see, if they were 24 at the time, and it's now 50 years later. They're in their 70s, right? The mid-70s. Well, I don't know. I mean, I guess it wasn't doing any good. They couldn't get away with it today, but they said the recommendation required the approval of the full parole board and the board's legal division and California's governor. And on August 17, 2022, Woods Parole had been granted and he was released from prison. And I'm pretty sure he's walking around that part of California right now. So the. Y', all, I never heard this. They said today the bus kidnapping event is still remembered with strong emotion. And they have a granite monument dedicated to the victims, and it's located next to the Chowchilla Police Department to mark where the victims were reunited with their families. That's pretty cool. On February 26, 2015, which was Edwards Ray's birthday, He's got to be dead by now. The city of Chowchilla official renamed and dedicated the city's largest park and home to many youth activities. And they named it as the Edward Ray Park Park. Way to go, everybody. And those kid kids, I mean, y', all, when you get buried alive like that, it's dark, you can't see. It's not like they had phones with flashlights and on them. They had to literally just dig and dig and dig and pray if they were getting out. Can you imagine digging? As more you dig, the more shit's falling in and everybody's screaming, there's not that much oxygen. Holy. Those dudes are so. Like, they have. All the victims are lucky, but those dudes are so lucky they didn't. None of them died. And they. I even believe California would have given the death penalty for that, as they should have. So. All right, well, that's a hell of a story. But let's get down to some more true crime. Time for July 17, 2026. Hey, y', all, starting a business is a big deal. If you don't know who he is, I'm about to tell you about the but Thomas Stein you a man now, boy. But the he's 18 years old, y', all and he's in court for murder. All right, so the Florida judge Nick Thompson denied the final request of 18 year old Thomas Stein to do what? After he got sentenced, he wanted to hug his mama. Well, your murder victim didn't get to hug their mama and the judge told him to go pound sand. But let me tell you. So judge Nick Thompson denied the final request 18 year old Thomas Stein to hug his family after he received a life sentence because his connection with the 2024 murder of 15 year old Kayla Rincon Miller. Stein stand up in the courtroom. Judge gave him a sentence. He asked the judge said, can I hug my family one last time? And judge said no. No physical contact is permitted and you can only give them a verbal goodbye. And guess what, homie, you better get used to that because the rest of your life's going to be that way. But Stein then turned his family and spoke to them briefly and before they the deputies escorted him out. So Stein was sentenced on July 10th of 2026 following his conviction for first degree murder. Thompson also sentenced Stein to an additional 45 years. The judge which he will serve consecutively with his life sentence. That this is quotations on sty. If I could ask for one thing, if before I walk out of the courtroom, if I could give my family a hug, if you'd allow that. Stein said while addressing the court. The courtroom footage of the incident was widely circulated online and got tons of reactions from social media users and debating over whether Stein's apology was genuine or scripted. And one of them wrote, I'm unmoved, sorry. Hug denied the whatever. Another one said, good performance, but I don't buy it. But we got some bleeding hearts out there. And they said that Stein was genuinely apologizing and felt remorse for what he had done. One user, right, he didn't apologize. He went into details as to why. Sorry, that's remorse. God bless the soul. And another agreed, writing, he is not reading from the paper. This is a sincere apology and remorse. Well, you know what, let me tell you why he doesn't deserve to give his family a hug goodbye. All right, well, some of the social media people said regardless of how accountable or sincere the apology may be, an innocent life was Taken because of a senseless act, Kaylin Rincon Miller did not get to hug her family alive. Prayers for the victims and the parents of loved one. But let me give you the real quick rundown on the case. And I know Cindy and I gave this case to y' all before, but on March 17, 2024, Miller was shot while walking with two of her friends to a McDonald's from a movie theater in Cape Coral, Florida. Stein and his co defendant, Christopher Horne Jr. Drove a Rennet silver Nissan Pathfinder twice past the girls before they stopped beside them. Miller was shot in her chest moments later at close range, right? They stop moments later, they shoot her or he shoots in her chest. She was taken to the hospital but died there. Two of Miller's friends were physically unharmed and escaped the scene. Stein was 16 years old at the time of the incident. However, prosecutors filed the case against him as an adult, and I believe they should have. Horn Jr. Received a sentence of 25 years after accepting a plea deal and testifying against Stein. And a jury convicted Stein back in May of 2026. Steinwald addressed in the court and apologized and said, I didn't know the robbery was going to occur, but it was my reaction and fleeting that ultimately played a major role in assisting the perpetrators. No, it's your friends, your homeboys. They said, I know that saying an apology will never fix. Undo what happened. And yeah, mf or you're correct about that. But regardless of that, I want to apologize for my actions that night. Yep, well, you should. And it's never going to bring that girl back. And by the way, Mr. Robert Killer, man, would you get off that young girl outside the movie theater, 20 bucks, anything. She's dead. Her family never gets to hug her again, and you're going away for life. And I'm. Yeah, I hate being a hard ass, but I'm so happy they let him hug his family. Like this is consequences. No, you don't get to hug your family. Oh yeah, we'll go out to Chi Town and tell you about Mrs. Nobi and they call her Z. Wetherspoon. Now if you're missing, there's always like Madison's case and oh, you know what? I need to place it y' all something on that in a second. The if you're missing like on Madison's case, there's always a chance, outside chance that you know you're going to come back and. And things be hunky dory. Well, Madison's case, there's not a chance for that. But the newly missing people. Okay. In the. In like this 30 year old zenobi Z. Witherspoon, they call her Z and she's from Chicago and she. Was reported missing by her family and a couple days later they found her. She was inside a trash can in a Chicago alley and they found her on July 11. Her family said they learned about the discovery through graphic social media videos showing the body and identified her based on her clothing. Weatherspoon's mother Larissa Weatherspoon reported Ms. Her daughter Z missing on July 10th. So a day earlier and this according to Chicago Tribune. So the Chicago police were called to an alley near the 54th street in Union Avenue on July 11 where officers found a body inside a trash can at around 6:30pm and this is about a block from Weatherspoon's home. Police initially did not identify her as the victim. However, Weatherspoon's family and state senator Lakisha Collins later confirmed that the woman was. That the woman found was Weatherspoon the or Z

and they asked that let's remember her for who she was and treat her story with the dignity she deserves. And you know people, if they're hauling a dead body out of garbage can, don't put it on social media. All right. As somebody's kid. So let's, let's. If I go missing and you find me a block away in an alleyway dead in a garbage can, call a homicide investigator, right? And they're investigating this case. The Cook county medical examiner's office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and man or Witherspoon's death and no arrests have been made yet. Well, I can pretty sure guarantee you that this lady lost her life probably for no reason and they stuffed her in a garbage can. The. I mean if you're a baby and you fall in the garbage can, can you drown? Possibly. Or a bucket or something, I don't know. But the your grown woman. And yeah, definitely going to be murder. So in speaking of that, I want to play up for y'. All. I meant to do it at the beginning of the episode and I got off on that the kids and Chowchilla being kidnapped. But the what happened to Madison. Hashtag, what happened to Madison. So very important. And I want y' all to hear Ms. Lynn's latest video. There's a news nation which I've been on a couple times for different cases they're covering her story. I think it comes out the 24th or the 25th. You need to. We'll. Hey, everyone. As you know, my name is Lynn Rollins. I am the mother of Madison Renee Allen, Mastermind. Allen is my oldest daughter who vanished from the home of Thomas Morris in Zachary, Louisiana, November of 2023. My daughter has been missing for over two years now. My daughter's case is still being worked. It's not being worked as fast as I would like for it, too, and. But it's being worked. There's a couple things I would like to share with you today. One is kind of exciting. Well, it's kind of exciting for me because today, July 14, is Thomas Morris's daughter's birthday. She turned 18 today, which means she can be questioned without an adult present. And I am hoping and praying that these agencies will bring her in and question her as an adult, as a person of interest in my daughter's missing persons case, as a person who obtains knowledge in my daughter's missing person's case, and as a person who is in obstructing my daughter's missing person case because she has knowledge of what has happened to my daughter, and she knows that her father is still out doing the same thing. So she needs to come forward with this information, and I am praying that they do this soon. The next thing that I would like to bring to your attention is that News Nation will air a story on my daughter July 24th. I'm really excited about this because News Nation is nationwide, which means my daughter's story will go nationwide, which means she will be aired in every state. And so whatever rock that Thomas Morris is now hiding under at this time will be overturned because my daughter's case will be nationwide. And that is just a blessing within itself. And the Q Center is also doing a new story on my daughter for her birthday, which is August 1st. I'm not sure when the story will air, but we are set to work on this story tomorrow evening. And I'm very thankful for that. I'm very thankful for the Q Center and all the help that they have been in my daughter's case. They have been by my side ever since I signed my daughter up with the Q Center. And, and this is July. So I'm thinking that my daughter's missing persons billboard will be coming down this month. And I, I greatly appreciate the Q Center and Everyone that's involved with the Q Center and all the. And also Woody Overton's real life, real crime. It has, it has brought a lot of attention to my daughter's case as well. Mr. Woody and Ms. Cindy are just amazing. Without. Once again, I want to remind you that when you call your tips into the to wherever and you want to remain anonymous, you remain anonymous. You're not blasted out on social media or anywhere else. I'm not towed of these tips. I'm just. I'm made aware that tips are coming in, but I don't know what they are and who made them, which I wish I knew every detail of my daughter's case, but I don't. And which I feel like I should know some information to my daughter's case because that is my daughter also, like I said, my daughter's birthday is August 1st. She will be 35. This is going to be another birthday that we won't have my in here to celebrate her birthday with her. Her children won't have their mom here to. To celebrate her birthday, to call her mom, to tell her mom happy birthday or that they love them. And you know, mine since my baby, I've been her mom for 35 years. And it's. It's a struggle. Each day, each day is a struggle. But with God by my side and the love that I have for my son, I keep one foot in front another and I keep going because I'm not gonna give up. I'm gonna find my baby. It's just. It's a nightmare that we live, but it's coming close to an end. It's coming close to an end. And I just pray that everything keeps going and going as planned. And. And Thomas Morris will be put behind bars. And whoever is helping him and whoever has knowledge of what. What he has done is, will be placed behind bars too. Because in my mind, if you know exactly what this man's doing, you're just as guilty as he is because you're letting him continue the pattern of going and hurting other women. That right there is obstruction of justice because you have information and you're allowing someone else to continue to harm women. That's just my thought. That's my opinion. I also want to thank Pebbles. Pebbles has been trying to help keep my daughter out there. I need to get with Pebbles and get some updated information to Pebbles because it's been a while since I've spoken to her, but I greatly appreciate everything that she's doing as well. And the midnight barn, the video that the midnight burn just still blows me away because it just. It tells my, you know, what happened to my daughter step by step, and it's just amazing. We have been blessed with so many people that has helped bring attention to my daughter's case, and I'm sure I'll leave some out. But please know that I thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart, and I love each and every one of you, because without you, we really wouldn't be where we are now. I just want to bring my daughter home so she can rest in peace. I don't believe that my daughter was trafficked. I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, I believe that Thomas Morris took my daughter's life and took my daughter from me and took my daughter from her children. It's just right now, it's kind of just like a waiting game. But I guess it's been that way since day one. Just waiting, waiting, waiting. The waiting and not knowing what's going to happen just rips you apart. It honestly does. And I'm not the same person as I was two years ago when I reported my daughter missing. I just. I'm not. And it is hard for anyone to be the same person that they once was, because the only thing that I focus on now is finding my daughter, bringing my daughter home so she can rest in peace. And I know it's not fair to others, but that's just it. I'm sorry. I just. Madison's missing, and if I wasn't here advocating for my daughter, who would? You know, I'm not the only family member that Madison has, but I'm the only one on here making these videos and posting every chance I get about my daughter. And I get that because a lot of people are embarrassed. And I've told people from day one, I don't care how crazy I look at what people have to say about me, I'm gonna find my baby, and I'm bringing my baby home. And with that said, you know, my sister's birthday's August 1st. She'll be 35. And my birthday gift to my baby is, mama's coming. Mama's coming. And I don't have to tell you what I'm bringing with me when I'm coming because y' all already know. And those who know me know what I'm bringing with me when I come, too. Because I'm not giving up. And I'm gonna find my baby. I was threatened by Thomas Morris's brother to f around and find out I'm still here effing around. And I'm gonna find out, because I'm gonna find out exactly what y' all done to my child. And I'm gonna find out exactly where my daughter is. And not only am I gonna bring my daughter home, I'm bringing these other missing women home, too. And I'm gonna save the next girl as well. It's just a matter of time. There you have it. What a mama bear, right? And y', all, I don't have any direct knowledge of Thomas Morris. Never met the man. You know that. I'm telling you. Lynn Rollins story. And I hadn't seen the. Morris is rushing up to disprove anything. I can tell you that much. But the. It is what it is. Supposedly he's out of state now. Where? I don't know. You know, I heard up north somewhere in Montana or Wyoming or somewhere, trying to find work. Well, if you. If there was a person like that that was not saying Thomas Morse is. I'm saying it's this person like that, and they get off on hunting and using and murdering young women. They don't stop. Remember the lady we had on the show that said positively identified and now that's straight out of her mouth. Mouth of babes. Ms. I think it's Morgan Lambert. The had her own and this this December, this past December, that Thomas Morris did all the creepy approach, slow approach when she was stranded in the parking lot in Dental Springs and dressed in all black, blah blah blah, et cetera. And yeah, coincidence. And it's right across the street from another racetrack where all these other women are missing from these racetrack gas stations and around the Baton Rouge area. Coincidence? I think not. I know y' all know it isn't, but I don't have any direct knowledge. But I can tell you what shit's being investigated. And the I also believe, like Ms. Lynn, that it's, it's coming to a close sooner than later. And the as far as his daughter being 18 and being able to be interviewed as an adult, that's that is what it is. You turn 18, you turn 18 and the if you made a statement to somebody before when you were a juvenile that X, Y and Z happened, well, you know what? And even though you may have denied it, if I was an investigator on the case, I damn sure would be asking you again now that you're 18. Right? So I don't know. Hashtag what happened to Madison? What if they were all dead? That guarantee there'd be movies made about that. The every story that I do has a victim that's a real live person. Whether it's a almost funny crime or dum dum in a court or serial killer finally being caught. It's important people and the I know, I know I was given this platform to use it for stuff like that.
