It's going to hook you up and they're going to have some of the food at the VIP event.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So. And thank you Southeastern and thank you Walk Ons. Y' all get your tickets and we'll see you there. It's just a couple weeks away. All right, we're gonna start off today. I think it was yesterday. Y' all were record a day early, right. So sin has time to edit and get it out to our patron of convicts, etc. And I was talking about the CO Burger trial coming up in August and how I want to go to it, etc. And get, you know, want to be inside this guy's head and all that. Well, lo and behold, one Monday evening it came out that Bryan Coburger took a plea because I had asked about the death penalty. Right. And I'd forgotten that that's what they were going for. And he took a plea to save his bitch ass little life and he's going to get four life sentences and no death penalty. But it's really, really disturbing. And I got another Idaho story disturbing after this one. But what's disturbing is the fact that the prosecution is shoving this deal down the family's throat.
Cindy Overton
Yeah. Why are they doing that?
Woody Overton
I don't know. I just, I've never seen one where the prosecution just didn't give a damn. They. They know they're going to win the trial and. But yeah, it's going to cost. Costs a lot more to put somebody to death than, than it does to house them for the rest of their life because of the cost of the appeals, et cetera, et cetera. But I'm pretty sure the taxpayers wouldn't mind paying those appeals to get this asshole the ultimate penalty. He doesn't deserve to breathe. And, but what really shocked me a couple of things. One of the things that really shocks me, from what I understand is he didn't even have to say what he did most, most plea bargains. Part of the plea bargain is you got to stand up from the court and say exactly what you did. You tell how you murder this four innocent babies. And he didn't have to do that.
Cindy Overton
I don't understand that.
Woody Overton
The prosecution had met with the family in the days before this and the family said hard, no, absolutely not. We do not want him to get a plea. We want him to get the death penalty, of course. And, and the prosecution didn't care. Didn't care. And they sent him like a letter, an email or something. And, and, and now they've given him. I think he's, he's doing the plea bargain today. I mean he has to stand up in court and say he's taken the plea. Right. But the. My point being is that they, some of the family members got such short notice, they got to come from a long ways away and they don't have time to even prepare their victims impact statements.
Cindy Overton
Are they.
Woody Overton
I don't, I don't know. But whatever it's called, county prosecution officers should be ashamed of themselves. They are. This fucking miscarriage of justice. There's a reason we have the death penalty. Those four kids, I'll call them, even though they were in early 20s, four kids were brutally, horribly stabbed to death by a monster who thinks, he still thinks he's smarter than everybody else. And guess what? He got away with it. You know, in his mind, he was getting his master's in criminology at another nearby university. So I think he'd been planning shit like this all along, thinking he wasn't studying criminology because he was interested in it other than the fact he was interested in how he could be a serial killer and get away with it. And now basically, he didn't even have to say what he did other than, yeah, I'm guilty. No, you need to tell exactly what you did step by step. And, and for them to show such little care for the family to give them just two days to get there and be prepared for this, that's. That is horrible. And I don't have to read you all the stuff the family's been saying. It's everywhere. The. But they were like, one thing that sticks out of my mind is they told the district attorney's office hard. No, no, no way will we do we want him to be able to get a plea bar and, and go to prison for the rest of his life and still get to breathe and eat and sleep and establish relationships and get. I mean, he's going to, he's going to live in prison, but he's going to be alive. And that is Just unbelievable. I think that prosecutor or those prosecutors, it. You know, it was their kids who've been stabbed repeatedly in the middle of the night. Think about the horrifying last moments of these. Like the two that were in the bed together. You know, one of them had to be alive for before the other one was. While the other one was being killed. And he did it. He got away with it. In my opinion, y' all, the life in prison is too good.
Cindy Overton
So what does that. What does it do, like, for families that you talk to them about what their wishes are, and they say hard, no, we do not want to plea. And then they go against them. Are they. I mean, what is the repercussions for the prosecutor's office for not going with what the family.
Woody Overton
Hopefully the next election. They don't get elected other than that. They got none. And they did it. They're. And, And I hate to say that, you know, about any type of law enforcement or the judicial system, but they are, especially in this case. They're. The family didn't want it. They said, no, no, no. And then they're shoving it down their throats. That is. That is shitty. Shame on y' all. Shame on you. And I'll say it to the day I die. Shame on you. He is a monster. And he just. I mean, think about that act of brutality, stabbing four different people to death and breaking into their sanctuary. And you think at 4:00 clock in the morning you're safe when you're laying in your bed and breaking in and killing them and, you know, you don't even. I got no words. Yeah, it's unbelievable. Shame on them. I can't. I can't believe they're getting away with it. I mean, he's getting away with it, but obviously he is. And it's. It's just. It blows my mind. Absolutely blows my mind. I did a TikTok about it as soon as I saw it because I couldn't believe. Couldn't believe they were doing it, but they did it. And it is what it is. So I don't know that. I mean, I just. They, they. They failed the family and they failed the court system. I just. I don't understand it, you know?
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So.
Cindy Overton
And any reason why he doesn't have to talk and say what he did?
Woody Overton
I don't. I read that. I can't believe that that would actually happen. But obviously, maybe it is. I don't know, other than prosecution being bitches. He was like, okay, yeah, I'll plead guilty, but I' I did.
Cindy Overton
Well, I mean, he didn't make a plea either. So I mean, he's just ruling. The roost over there is he's going.
Woody Overton
To make a plea of guilty. He didn't make it initially when the judge had to enter it for him.
Cindy Overton
That's what I'm talking about.
Woody Overton
But he's, you know, I don't know. And just last week they were talking about him introducing other people who did the stab and, and, and stuff like that and whatever. It doesn't matter. They're. And I hate it for the family. I hate it for anybody that lives in Idaho. That. I mean, what does that do to future families? And people want to believe in the justice system and in cases like this, it just dramatically fails. So I don't know.
Cindy Overton
In one time that should not fail.
Woody Overton
Who the one time is Four. Four dead.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Students, kids in, in the prime of their lives. Got everything ahead of them. And it's not just dead. Y' all stabbed over and over and over again. Think about the horror of your last seconds on this earth. That and, and the pain that they felt. And this gets to go to prison. No. But anyway, another part of Idaho, and everybody knows about this story. The, the. Yeah, basically firefighters got called out to a. What was going to be a start of a forest fire. And this was on Sunday, June 29, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. And they, when they responded, they started getting shot. And now I'm going to tell you a little bit about it. More details. But two of the firefighters were killed, y' all, when they responded, murdered, shot with a rifle. They were ambushed. And. And there's no other way about it. And this is on Canefield Mountain and two of them were murdered on the mountainside. Another one was shot and he's hospitalized in surgeries, fighting for his life. And that all because they were just responding to a wildfire like they were supposed to do. So at around 3:16pm local time on Sunday, June 29, the. The authorities, everybody responded, all the law enforcement agents because they were calling off the mountain top. Let me tell you about it. So they said over 300 law enforcement officers rushed to assist the firefighters who were under threat from the gunman. At around 1:30p, the firefighters had received reports of a brush fire on Canefield Mountain. And after they responded to the call, they became targets of a shooter. At around 2pm and two firefighters were fatally shot while a third was rushed to the hospital after being injured. And they said he is fighting for his life, but he is in stable condition. And investigators believe the shooter deliberately set the wildfire to ambush the first responders. And approximately 20 acres of cane Field Mountain were burned while firefighters were trying to contain the fire. Right. But they had to stop because of the gunfire that started, they said. We do believe he started it and it was totally intentionally what he did. According to the sheriff Norris. And he said a shelter that was put in place for those nearby was lifted after members of a SWAT team found the alleged gunman. The alleged gunman. The gunman. And they they said he believed. They believed he acted alone. However, they were unsure the 911 call that initially reported the fire came from him or not. All right. They say you can expect some of these things to occur in an urban sebetics boom in an urban setting but in a rural setting. Sheriff Nor said to the BBC said this is very, very, very rare. Now the Kootenai county emergency management said on Facebook that despite the suspected gunman being found, residents in the area should remain prepared as further action may be necessary amid the ongoing active wildfire. Say the fire still burning. Right. And the sheriff confirmed in a press conference that the coroner's office naturally will be investigating the circumstances of the gunman's death at this time. But it looks like he took his own life in boom. The governor of Idaho, Brad Little wrote on X said multiple heroic firefighters were attacked today while responding to a fire in north Idaho. This is a heinous act, direct assault on our brave firefighters. I asked that all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we wait to learn more. And he and his wife Teresa are heartbroken.

As the situation is developing, please stay clear from the area to allow law enforcement and firefighters to do their job. Well, y' all, the. What happened? The FBI and everybody and the SWAT teams responded and they ended up tracking this dude on the mountainside using a cell phone. And they were able to zoom in on this location. When they found the body, they found a rifle beside him and he was dead. Yeah, I know there was exchange of gunfire, but they don't. They're thinking he took his own life and all that. And I'm not reading his name him, but he did do a social media post right before the incident, decked out in bandoliers of ammunition, his face painted and all that. And they said they know now that he had tried to become a firefighter before and been rejected.
Cindy Overton
Jesus.
Woody Overton
And they had five different run ins with law enforcement. He had five different run ins with law enforcement, but always small, like trespass and what have you, but nothing other. No other reason for him to do this other than he's just an.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And. And I guess he wants to kill firefighters because he couldn't be one.
Cindy Overton
That's ridiculous. So, Idaho and burned down his whole town.
Woody Overton
Well, he was going to kill himself anyway.
Cindy Overton
No, I'm just saying, like, I mean, he's not just hurting firefighters, hurting his community.
Woody Overton
He got the firefighters, he started the fire and they found a flint on him and that they believe that he started the fire with. He started the fire to get to place the 911 call to get the firefighters out there to have live targets to kill. He's a murdering piece of shit, just like Hoberger. Yeah.
Cindy Overton
Yep.
Woody Overton
So there you go.
Cindy Overton
That's crazy. Got another gunfire in Minneapolis.
Woody Overton
Okay.
Cindy Overton
And on June 23rd at 2pm, an 11 year old named Amir Atkins was spending the afternoon at Falwell park in north Minneapolis.
Woody Overton
Okay.
Cindy Overton
And he's just there. And gunfire erupted in the park near the office entrance. And Amir's older brother was nearby and heard the shots. So he ran over there. And when he got there, he saw Amir was laying on the ground. The older brother did. Amir was shot in the head and he immediately carried him seeking help. Then a good Samaritan showed up. It was a 29 year old calf roper and a marine. And he was on his way to that area when he heard the cries for help. And he saw Amir and his brother and jumped into action to help. And that good Samaritan's name is Troy Young and he was 29. But he and the boy's brother placed a mirror in Young's truck and began racing towards the hospital. Along the way they encountered a police lieutenant and stopped their vehicle and started administering cpr. And Young was assisting. But despite their efforts and paramedics arrived and he was pronounced dead. Amir was officially identified by the Hennepin county medical examiner and the shooting was rolled a homicide from a gunshot wound to the head. But they don't know who did this at this time. They don't know how many shots were fired. They do not know where the fire, the shots originated from. They know.
Woody Overton
They don't know dick.
Cindy Overton
They do not know anything. So they are asking people for help because obviously not knowing anything. They can't even make an arrest or give the family answers. Anything along that job.
Woody Overton
Find out. Find out, do your job, get it done. 11 year old dead. You know, you go up north like that and they have all these nice parks where people hang out and I'm talking about really nice places. The, the down here you can't have that.
Cindy Overton
No, they're little drug places.
Woody Overton
Well, that. And it's too hot. Well, and people up there sit in the grass and. And don't have to worry about the bugs tearing them up and you know, all the stickers and everything else. And it's just, you know, totally, totally different ball game. No humidity down here. You wouldn't want to sit in a park this time of the year.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And you either the bugs or the, the heat that get you, that's for sure. So it's time for beast mode, y' all. This is the time of year where everybody's going to the beach. And I guess you can know I'm doing a beast mode story. But I guess you can guess what's going to happen.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So. Well, it's time for worldwide crime and we're going to Australia for this beast mode. And look, don't think that shark attacks only happen in Australia. They get reported more. But we Get a lot of them down on the Gulf coast every year, people getting bitten. But the a shark attack in Australia left a teenage boy with serious injuries and it would have been a hell of a lot worse but thankfully there were bystanders close by who jumped in to help. The 16 year old boy was swimming at Cabrita beach in New South Wales when a shark attacked him in the afternoon of Sunday June 29. This according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and 90s the whole all the outlets they said the attack left the team with serious injuries including bites on his right upper arm, right leg and wrist. And normally a shark gets a hold, won't let go. This dude's biting them all over. So emergency services were alert to attack just for 4pm local time. But before paramedics could respond to the scene, bystanders at the beach stepped in to help the injured team. An ambulance spokesperson told the ABC I'm not sure whether he was with any other friends at the time of the incident but by the time our lifeguards got there he had already had a tourniquet applied to those impacted limbs.
Cindy Overton
Wow.
Woody Overton
Right means multi turn. But an off duty paramedic was among the beachgoers who helped the team. Others on the beach helped to carry the team from the scene using a surfboard as a makeshift stretcher. And somebody didn't wasn't helping with surfboard because they took video footage I guess and shared it on Instagram. They said the team was airlifted at Gold Coast University Hospital in in serious but stable condition. But following the attack a jet ski cleared other surfers from the water while helicopter patrolled for shark activity and but they don't have any information about the shark but they said that this is typically a time of year where there's increased shark activity and Cabrita beach is a beautiful picturesque beach and unfortunately I think it might be a case of wrong time, wrong place at the stage for this young fellow. And that's according to the CEO of NSW Surf Life Saving. So the it happens. My God, the kids alive but y' all. I know so thousands and thousands of people are listening to us right now are sitting in a beach chair looking at the waves crashing and watching the kids play in the sand and all that. Just be cognizant. It's like I tell sin, you know we live in the country and there's like a mouse or a spider or something or a snake or whatever. Like we living in their house right when you go to the beach and you get in the water and you're Going surfing or body surfing or splashing around. You're in the shark's house. Yeah, I mean it's not gonna stop me from getting in the water, but. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, I've been starfishing before where. Yeah. Catch the trout and the fish. I'll have them on a stringer. I float the stringer out away from me because of sharks.
Cindy Overton
Right.
Woody Overton
And. And I've had them hit the basket before from the blood and that. And I just untie that mother and run.
Cindy Overton
Let it go.
Woody Overton
And the. But I, I mean it's not like the shark has a personal Vendetta against the 16 year old. The shark that's thinking, hey, I'm hungry. Yeah, I'm hungry. And there's something splashed over here and I think it's injured fish. And I'm about to get me some. Yeah. So y' all just be aware this week when you're out there getting sunburned and barbecuing and splash around in the water.
Cindy Overton
I remember I was probably 7 years old in Destin Sandestin with my really good friend at that time. Her family, she had like 14 brothers and sisters and they were in a condo. And I was just standing probably up to my shins at that time. I mean, and a baby hammerhead was swimming right next to me. And I can, I could probably identify that baby hammerhead to this day. I had such a good image of it and I immediately thought, there's a baby, there's a mama, I need to go.
Woody Overton
And that's the other misnomer is people think you have to be in deep water for sharks attack. No, they come in shallow to push the bait fish up against. In the shallows where they eat them. Right. So that happens. And. But you know, y' all just be safe.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
When all our lifers to have all their limbs and be alive, please. Right, yeah.
Cindy Overton
Well, I have an update on a bad teacher.
Woody Overton
Right.
Cindy Overton
You, I don't know if you remember me telling the story of the New Jersey teacher that was had her student's child.
Woody Overton
You do a lot of those, right?
Cindy Overton
So I'll just do like a brief recap. But Laura Karen, who's 34, was a fifth grade teacher at Middle Township Elementary School. And this and that school is in Cape May County, New Jersey. A grand jury jury has indicted her on charges which is 1st degree aggravated sexual assault, 2nd degree sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. The indictment stems from one day. You don't like this word, but allegations in the beginning of 2016, where Karen sexually abused a male student. And at that time, she's a fifth grade teacher. That male was 11 years old.
Woody Overton
Nice.
Cindy Overton
And she. The abuse continued until 2020, when he was 15. But it gets really crazy because during that time frame, she was close with the parents as well. And so the victim and his. Exactly. The victim and his siblings sometimes lived with grooming teacher, and they actually lived permanently in her home from 2016 to 2020. So the sister actually witnessed inappropriate behavior seeing him in Karen's bed. And her last. I mean, her last name is Karen, her first name is Laura, so it's C A R O N. But anyway, in 2019, Karen gave birth to a daughter. And this daughter was fathered by the victim. 11 year old, and he was 13 at the time. And she had a baby shower telling. Telling her friends that the child's father was out of the picture. But as the baby grew up, the victim's father kept looking at this woman's Facebook, like Karen's Facebook, and he's like, my kids are living in this house with this woman, and this, her child looks remarkably similar to my own child.
Woody Overton
Right.
Cindy Overton
So he reported this and. Which prompted in an investigation, and it resulted in her arrest. They did DNA swabs and everything, and definitely it was that boy's son. And that's. That is what led to her fight. She's being held in custody where she had previously posted bail, and she now faces up to 40 years in prison.
Woody Overton
It's not enough.
Cindy Overton
No, it is definitely not enough. Her next court appearance is July 16th.
Woody Overton
What do you do when. I mean.
Cindy Overton
I can't. Magic.
Woody Overton
Yeah. And people are gonna say, oh, bad parents, blah, blah. But that's not true, y' all. Like on David and Christina Constance, most of the victims were just that their families were so poor. Not drug heads, but the families were just so poor, they couldn't afford their next meal. And they would be like double clutch. Be like, oh, let me let them come stay at my house for the weekend and, you know, feed them pizza or whatever. And the families were just relieved with it. And, and, and didn't. Didn't suspect anything like that would ever happen to them.
Cindy Overton

Woody Overton
I mean thank God he saw the Facebook and do you remember? Well, I don't know if I told you about this, you know, when I was doing private polygraphs, the I went out on a relationship test and the guy was in a wheelchair and he had this big fine metal building. People like make barndominiums out of now or whatever. But he had thousands of snakes.
Cindy Overton
I recall that.
Woody Overton
And he was an international.
Cindy Overton
Yes.
Woody Overton
Snake dealer.
Cindy Overton
Yes.
Woody Overton
And the. I mean he was making a ton of money but it remind me this, this case reminds me of that. And I was like, it's the. These snake cases were stacked three high all the way around this huge 2,000square foot thing. But all the lights. I mean, he knew he was doing. He's very good at it. Well, let me tell you about a guy named Ben Renick. And he was a snake razor. Well, I guess you call them raise breeders, right? They're breeders.
Cindy Overton
Okay.
Woody Overton
He was a renowned reptile breeder and he had more than 3,000 snakes that he regularly sold for thousands of dollars. And as the guy I did the polygraph one, his cheapest one was like two grand. Everything from big boa constrictors to poison snakes to whatever. Anyway, he regularly sold him for thousands of dollars out of his facility. And this is in New Florence, Missouri, so. But nameless company was Renick Reptiles. On June 8th of 2017, Ben's wife, Lynn Lee Renick, found her husband lying face down in a pool of blood inside a facility. She screamed and called Ben's brother Sam Renick to come over and observe the scene before they called 911 together. It always make that kind of fishy to me. Pretty sure if I found you laying in the yard. No, I'm calling. I'm calling 91 1. He's. But he said, Sam, the brother says it had to. It had to have been a snake. And that's what he told the first responders. Right?
Cindy Overton
It's not funny. That's horrible.
Woody Overton
Yeah. However, the case took a major turn when detectives found shell casings and realized Ben had actually been shot eight times.
Cindy Overton
Maybe the snake did it.
Woody Overton
Look, anybody that thinks anything about a snake when you got eight bullet holes in you and shell casings, I mean, you know, come on. Police officers interviewed several suspects, including Sam, before they started focusing on Lyn Lee. The wife and detectives soon heard claims that she had been having affairs and had enlisted the help of one of her ex boyfriends, a dude named Michael Humphrey, to join her in killing her husband. Now tell you everything about it. You ready? On June 8, 2017, Ben was found surrounded by his own blood in a snake breeding facility. And his wife, like I told you, Lindley called brother Sam, who rushes scene and thought that a snake did it. But they said his skull was crushed. So my first thought it was the snakes. Sam told Dateline in 2023. Lynn Lee Also, you know, hinted that the snakes were to blame when she called 911 screaming and frantically telling operators, my husband's on the ground and there's Blood everywhere. But when the detectives got there and they looked at it, they were like, he's got eight bullet holes. Eight holes in him. Right. I don't. I don't think he saw it coming at all. The Sam, the brother that this one's been on all the top channels. He told this to 48 hours in 2024. Said they've been on Dateline and 40, 48 hours, etc. But they said Ben had such a future ahead of him. You know, he was 29 years old. He was almost 30. A lot was lost. So, well, they take the body and natural corner. His name was Dave Colbert. He arrived scene. He found the shell casing. Determined that Ben had not died from a snake attack. He said, when I saw the shell casing on the shelf just above his head, I knew this was not from a snake. That's what he told 48 Hours. He said this was something much more heinous. And Colbert later determined that Ben had shot. Been shot a total of eight times. And most of the shots were directed towards Ben's back. Oh, yeah, shot him in the back. But there was at least one bullet fired at his head. But that bullet was fired at close range. And he said this was something that was this not just a random act? You think so? Detectives had, you know, their suspicions. Ben's case went cold for three years with no arrest. And the investigation went on and both Sam the brother and Lynley became suspects. It said Sam was a heavy suspect. This court of Missouri State Highway Patrol criminal investigator Devin Faust. And this way, he told people magazine in 2022. So this story was everywhere. I don't know how I missed it. They said the seed was definitely planted early, that he had something to do with it. Now, Faust recalled investigating Sam after learning that Ben was thinking about selling their New Florence property where he was living at the time, and that Sam was upset about the potential sell some of the Sam's living on the property for free, probably banging them. Lindley, however, the theory fell through after Sam tested negative for gun residue and fully cooperated with officers. He said, I provided them, you know, everything. I had my cell phone, shirt off my back, my alibi as to where I was when the murder happened. I gave a polygraph and that's what he told 48 Hours. Well, the officers then turn their investigation on Lindley after her co worker Ashley Shaw alleged that she had been having affairs with at least two different men. Lindley herself admitted to having one affair, according to CBS News. And their suspicions were heightened when Shaw claimed to them that one month before Ben died, Lyn Lee plotted to kill Ben by giving him a poisonous protein shake laced with 15 percocet pills. Why don't you just get some poison out of snake or let a snake bite him in the bed or something in the head or. I mean, this prison is a full of dummies. I mean, if I was a snake razor, I wanted to take you out. I'm not going to shoot you.
Cindy Overton
You're not?
Woody Overton
No, no. Definitely use snakes.
Cindy Overton
Thank goodness.
Woody Overton
In the months. Yeah, I do them. I kill them when I see them. In the months after Ben's death, detectives interviewed Lindley a total of six times and gave her a polygraph, which she failed. Yeah. However, they still didn't have enough evidence to arrest her. And the case remained cold for three years until, just like I want to tell y' all, hashtag just for Bradley, please call in your tips. 313 RLRC Tip the The Texas got a tip from a guy named Brandon Blackwell who was locked up, who claimed he was dating Lyn Lee after Ben's death. And Blackwell said that Lindley confused, confessed to conspiring with her ex boyfriend, a dude named Michael Humphrey, to murder Ben. Said they drove to the farm, he had gloves, he had a firearm. The plan was for him to do it. And Blackwell told us to investigators in January 2020, he said they get there, he hands her the gun, says he doesn't feel comfortable doing it. Something she's got to take care of. She walks in with a gun and just shoots him a bunch of times.
Cindy Overton
Damn.
Woody Overton
Look at her and him showing it to you, too. Looks like you're all American. Couple of dudes trying to make a living, and she can't keep her legs closed. On January 16, 2020, police arrest and charged Lindley and Humphrey with the murder. They said it took us years to find out that Lindley was lying and that she was living a double life. Sociopath. If you look that up, Lyn Lee's picture will be sitting right there with it. Sam told 48 Hours Lindley is a manipulator. And I truly believe that he was manipulated into where he is right now. The brother, right? Both Humphrey and Lindley blamed each other for shooting Ben. Now, his trial took place first in October 2021, and he was convicted of first degree murder. And when it came to time for Lindley's trial later in 2021, Humphrey then helped officers find the murder weapon and testified against her in hopes of getting his charge dropped from first degree Murder. And during his testimony, Humphrey claimed that he gave Lindley a gun, but she was the one who fired it. He said, I heard a shot come out, so I kind of ducked a little bit, and I looked down through there, and she was at the end of the corridor or whatever you want to call it, posted up like this with the gun. And it's old CBS News. So. Meanwhile, Lynley also testified in her own trial, which is rare, and said that Humphrey shot Ben and she had no involvement. She said, I walked up right behind Michael, and then Michael turned around and I saw a gun in his hands. And then I heard shots ring out, and I screamed and I ran outside. And then I heard more shots go off, and everything just went numb. And I remember staring at the trees and then Michael running out of the facility and pushed me towards the car and telling me, we have to go, Lindley, get in the car. We have to go now. Well, the jury found Lindley guilty of second degree murder and armed criminal action. Guess how much time she had?
Cindy Overton
7 years.
Woody Overton
No. She was sentenced 13 years for the first charge and 3 years for the second for a total of 16 years.
Cindy Overton
She get time for day for day.
Woody Overton
I don't know. It's just.
Cindy Overton
That's ridiculous.
Woody Overton
Yeah. Meanwhile, Humphrey's conviction was reduced to secondary murder, and he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of pros. Why I wasn't there, I don't know.
Cindy Overton
Jeez.
Woody Overton
It says she really believed that she was going to get away with all this, and she really believed she was going to get what she planned after murdering my brother. Sam told 48 Hours. So that's a very interesting story. And I just want to tell you all about it, because I didn't know about that.
Cindy Overton
That's crazy.
Woody Overton
And so they did it. They did it together. She thought mean, they got away with it for a lot of years. You know, I hate a cold case.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
I hate a that gets away with a crime like that.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And on hashtag just for bradley. Hashtag just Ms. Barbara Blunt. Hashtag justice for Haley is coming. We know who did that one. And we don't want these to continue to get away from crimes. Calling you tips. Three one, three rlrc tip. And no tip is too small. And let's bring justice to these families. Right. And so hashtag justice for Bradley, Episode four is going to be pushed back one week because I have some stuff going on in the case, and this people probably won't even understand this. This is the work week, worst week for podcasting. Of the year. Except for Christmas week. Christmas week. Because you have Christmas Eve, Christmas and then New Year's Eve and New Year's on the same week. But Fourth of July, everybody splits town. Yeah. Everybody's vacation. Nobody's listening. But I'm still working the tips. I'm taking the tips, actually filing them away. Looking at this one, looking at that one. Working on it. Right. And Sheriff Hard call me or messaged me the other night on this Barbara blunt's case at 10:30, 11:00 clock at night. And he and I are meeting next week. Okay. And so fingers crossed on album, y' all continue to call in your tips and it's very, very important. Justice.
Cindy Overton
Yes.
Woody Overton
All about justice for sure. So. And one more thing new to the TikTok world, YouTube is really pretty cool too. And in that, y' all, you're no longer see our logo on YouTube. If you go to YouTube, you'll see all the real life, real crown logos. And I, if you're like me, you go to YouTube to watch something. I don't want to see a logo and then not see the video. So now you're just going to see the videos. Right? And it'll still have the title of what it is on there. So it's same thing without the logo. Go watch it. I'm recording myself right now waving at the camera. But check it out. But trolls will not be accepted. I'm doing now on YouTube and tick tock. Exactly what I started doing seven years ago in a podcast world. Go yourself, block and delete. So you can, you can leave whatever you want to, but I'm not going to take my time away from these investigations to have my integrity question and. And all that. It's just not even worth discussing. So. But I hope y' all having a great week at the beach. And we're gonna drop you another episode True crime time for Thursday. Thursday, tomorrow, and then Friday. My probably my. One of my all time favorite episodes. I'm gonna drop it for everybody. So. All right, everybody. Love and appreciate each and every one of you. And I'm Woody Overton.
Cindy Overton
I'm Cindy Overton.
Woody Overton
Holla at y' all later or tomorrow.
