Foreign. Hello everybody and welcome to True Crime. Time for Thursday, March 26, 2026. And I am Cindy Overton. And there's no Woodrow here today because he is traveling, work related traveling. It was not like in Belize or anything, basking in the sun. But he is doing some really good work for someone and I'll leave it at that. And stay tuned at the end for an update on JusticeForHey and for what happened to Madison. I do have a little bit of news, but for now let's just dive right into this day in history. And so on this day in 2023, we're going real far back. 23 year old Jason woods got into a dispute with two others at a gas station before chasing after them with a firearm. He didn't chase. I got some more information from this because the verbiage of this, you know, it doesn't leaves a lot to the, not to the imagination. It's just unclear about a few things. So woods then shot at the two victims and struck the car, but neither victim was shot during the, the driving and the, the shooting and all of that. The victims also shot at woods and Woods I'm adding to, from what I read in other articles, woods was actually hit and he collided with another vehicle. And then deputies reported to the scene, saw he had a gunshot wound, saw casings, found casings that and the other and then it took a while to do like an investigation. And then later it comes out that woods had fired at another vehicle and those people fired back and that's when he was hit and all that this took until April 22nd for all of this information to be put together. So woods, although he was the one that was shot, he was actually later charged with two counts of attempted murder for the incident. So I couldn't find what happened to the other people because they continue to call them victims in this story. But when I do a deeper search, I honestly didn't want to go too deep into, you know, looking at actual like court documents and stuff like that. I figured if it interested in, if it inter, if it, if you found it interesting that maybe you could go search about it too. So that is this day in history. Well, I'm going to dive right in. And before Woody left today, he made sure to send me some stories and this is the first one.

We're going to New York in A teacher employed at a New York school district where timeout boxes were allegedly used to confine young students has been arrested. Carrie Haverstock, who's 60 years old and a special education teacher with the Salmon River Central School District, was arrested on Wednesday, March 18 on child endangerment charges. According to New York State Police, Haverstock was taken into custody after a parent accused her of putting their nonverbal daughter in a closet by themselves and she is also accused of using toothpicks to poke the girl's forehead. Franklin County District Attorney Elizabeth M. Crawford has said that Haverstock's arrest is not related to these alleged timeout boxes, which are also being investigated by police and the New York Department of Education. New York State Police Trooper Brandy Ashley has said that the police learned in November that Haverstock allegedly mistreated a student on or around May 16th of 2025. Last year, Haverstock and several other staff members were put on leave after allegations emerged about special needs students being confined inside wooden boxes. A former school board member, Chrissy Jacobs, initially shared the photos of these boxes. They're called timeout boxes and they this was shared on Facebook in December. In January, the mother of a nonverbal autistic elementary student saw the Facebook post and then she was informed that the boxes were actually built for her son and he was actually confined inside. I don't know who told her that, but the woman, Rhonda Garrow, filed a notice of legal claim on January 15 against the Salmon River Central School District. And in this filing or this legal claim, she says that the district violated her 8 year old son's civil rights through the use of these box shaped wooden dog cages. He can't speak and he can't fight back. He can't tell his family or tell anybody that he was being placed in there, garrow said. She goes on to say it's heartbreaking after the Salmon River Central School District launched an independent investigation into these alleged timeout boxes and the district shared an update on the investigation findings on March 12. This is the update. This is a quote from the district. The investigation determined that two timeout boxes were used for a short period in November and December of 2025 at Salmon River Elementary School. Investigators found no evidence of abuse, corporal punishment or intentional mistreatment of students. However, the report identified regulatory compliance issues related to how timeout procedures were implemented and and documented under New York State regulations. Haverstock, who worked at Salmon River Elementary School before she was transferred to St. Regis Mohawk School, is set to appear in the town of Fort Covington Court at a later date. So we will see where this story goes and we're going to hit off with another bang. Nothing like a bad teacher.

So this is kind of. Well, let me just tell the story. We have an enraged son who repeatedly slashed his mom's home care attendant inside her Brooklyn senior living community, then jumped to his death from the building's roof. And we are in New York City. The 42 year old suspect knifed the caretaker, who was 53 years old, in her head and right arm around 12:30 in the afternoon inside the Bushwick Building of Linden street near Wilson Avenue. He then went to the roof of the 13 story building which was newly constructed, known as the Linden Grove Senior Residences. He suffered injuries indicative of a fall from an elevator position and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. The attendant, meanwhile, went to Wyckoff Heights Medical center where she was listed in stable condition, thank goodness. The son apparently attacked her in a fit of rage because he was unhappy with his mom's treatment and his name has not been released. And it's because they still have to notify some of the family members. And so this is very important to say. But if you're struggling with suicidal thoughts or are experiencing a mental health crisis and live in New York city, you can call 1-88-NYC W E L L and you will get free and confidential crisis counseling. And if you live outside of the five boroughs, you, you can dial suicide prevention hotline at 988 or go to suicide prevention lifeline.org and that is important for, for people to know you. You don't know. You know, unfortunately we don't know people's mindset and makes them think that that is their only choice in that moment. I can't imagine being so Upset with your mom's care that you decide that you're going to go and jump off of the building after that. So I'm wondering, obviously there's way more to this story, but we're not going to waste any time and we're just going to go straight into

We're going to Cypress, Texas, which is around the Houston area, and we have a business owner that's been charged with felony water pollution. Harris County Precinct 1 detective said that this person's company, power washes dump truck engines, and they were dumping that contaminated wastewater into a drainage ditch. And that drainage ditch eventually leads all the way to the Gulf. A resident nearby named John Chuy said, I am frustrated because this shouldn't be happening. I just want to live in my house. And he is the one that made the report that led to the investigation. And now Michael Ramos Garcia and his truck engine power washing company called Placetas Trucking are both being charged with felony water pollution. So apparently now neighbors are watching this company and they're watching like from behind the fence and, and they're quoted as saying they're power washing. This discharge is not treated at all. And it goes directly into the drainage ditch which goes behind my house, which eventually goes to Little Cypress Creek, which eventually leads to Galveston Bay and eventually leads to Gulf of America. This is according to Chuy, the guy that I told you made the report. Detectives provided photos and said they tested the soil from the company's property and found nearly 4,000 times the amount of petroleum hydrocarbons than in other spots in the area. So in simple terms, detectives said the company was dumping what they call large amounts of used motor oil and diesel engine oil into ditches. And what made the neighbors make the report was the overwhelming smell that was coming from their ditches. Another neighbor, Jeff Beyer, said, we've got two neighbors on the other side of us, three kids who can't go outside and play. Then Chuy is also quoted as saying, eventually the diesel fuel just kind of seeps through my house and I have to stay in the front side of the house and not go into certain rooms. They hope that the state felony charge will mean a safer, cleaner neighborhood. And Byers is quoted as saying, never give up. Keep fighting, fighting, fighting. So, I mean, yes, you have to. You have to just keep reporting. And thank goodness they're, you know, going out and testing the soil and keeping all of that contamination from going miles and miles and miles and miles. That is a very bad professional. If you want to call him a professional? I mean, what are you just getting me today?

A 28 year old Ohio teacher has admitted to disturbing to a disturbing relationship with her teenage student after sending thousands of explicit messages that only came to light when a relative called them together. Jamila Dabobalbe, who taught 10th grade at Horizon Science Academy in Columbus, pleaded guilty to sex crimes earlier this year. Investigators say that the relationship between Dabawi and the student had been going on for months. It involved constant communication with the teacher, flooding the 15 year old boy with texts, and even of course, declaring her feelings for him. The situation escalated behind closed doors until the teens and exposed what had been going on. So now the case is revealing a trail of messages, calls and admissions that are painting a very clear picture of how the relationship developed and how the authorities stepped in. So the ANS discovery sparked the investigation in April of last year and Columbus police were called to a home on Salado Creek Drive on the city's northeast side after the teen's aunt made the discovery, which I've said repeatedly, according to prosecutors, she found her nephew and her nephew actually is she has guardianship of the nephew and the nephew was sitting in a car with Dabalbe and when questioned, the teen admitted that he had been involved in a sexual relationship with the teacher, which included kissing and touching. He also told officers that they had been texting for a couple of months in engaging in sexual activity for a period of time. Police ended up seizing the boy's phone and they uncovered hundreds of calls and thousands of messages between him and debopped to Bobby, including, like I said, earlier, declarations of their love. Now, she has pleaded guilty in February to the charges, including gross sexual imposition and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. She had originally been charged with just two counts of sexual battery before those charges were amended and the school confirmed she was fired on April 21, 2025, and she made a plea deal. And as part of her plea deal, she must register as a sex offender. The court has recommended five years of community control, mandatory counseling, community service, and the removal of her teaching license. She's expected to be sentenced at a later date and will be locked up for 18 months. On top of that, we have a whole separate case that is also probably more concerning. And it's following another incident in Washington state which involves a high school teacher accused of abusing a student. The high school teacher's name is Madeline Gregory and she's 29 years old and she was sexually assaulting. This is all alleged, a 16 year old inside a classroom closet at Sprague High School. And court papers say that Gregory told the student she was in a sexless marriage while a friend of the victim told the police she said she won't have sex with her husband. So, yeah, we've got some bad professionals all over the place. Parents, talk to your children, seriously. Please let them know that it's not okay. And as hard as it is, you want your children to have like a sense of privacy. But if you pay for their cell phone and they are a minor, I don't think that there is a expected sense of Privacy. I go, WL has passwords all over his phone and he's a 15 year old boy and I understand why, but I sit down with him and like, open up your phone, show me what you got. And then I, you know, he knows I see his password and funny enough, his passwords are our passwords. So I know he has the passwords for anyone else. It's not to hide and hide things from us. But I don't like I am connected to his PS4 account or PS5, whatever it is, his PlayStation account, and I can see his messaging with his friends. And I don't police it. Like if they say something kind of like aggressive or, you know, not what I would consider niceties. Um, trash talk, for example, I. I have to remember that, you know what, he's a teenager and they're trash talking each other. I make sure, really I'm in there to make sure that he's not, you know, going through a situation where someone's grooming him. And it's not. If a student gets to this, it's not anybody's fault. I mean, we have to parent, right? And so if wl were to go through a grooming situation tomorrow, which, knock on wood, that doesn't happen, I, you know, would have a lot of self blame. I'm not victim. I'm not shaming, you know, parents for not, you know, staying on top of things or if their child still has something horrible happen to them. It can still occur. But the more educated our children are, the less of a chance it will happen. Doesn't mean it won't happen. It happens to adults all the time. You know, they get catfished and kidnapped and everything else. It's just if we don't teach our children, you know, I just think it's our responsibility to keep our children safe and protected and whoever we're in charge of guarding. Next story is going to Missouri, and we have a mother that found. I saw this story, found fentanyl in the packaging of a Barbie doll that she actually bought for her children. So the independent police department was contacted by security at a discount store called Cargo Largo on the morning of Saturday, March 21, and the call was about, quote, unquote, a suspicious powder substance found in the packaging of a Barbie doll. The dolls were sold between March 19 and March 20. IDP. The police department determined the substance was fentanyl and immediately began an investigation with Cargo Largo to determine how many compromised units were sold. The woman that reported the suspicious powder, her name is Jade Adams. And she noticed the substance in the packaging that she purchased at the store. And she said, when my husband opened it with a knife, it was like poof in the car. And we were like, what? What is that? Adam said that her mom brought the Barbie doll back to Cargo Largo and told the staff members that they needed to inspect all of the Barbies at the store. They filled a whole cart up of these Barbies and took them to security and were like, you need to check all of these Barbies. The IPD confirmed that all five contaminated Barbie products had since been recovered by the police. And thank goodness a suspect is in custody in connection with the compromised units. The suspect's identity has not been revealed. At this time. And Adams is actually just grateful that her children weren't exposed to the substance. She goes on to say, they could have dusted all of that all over themselves, their house, wherever they opened it. Like, it's not just me, it's really just the kids. For me, that's a baby. That's a last baby. That's terrifying. The fentanyl was found taped inside the back of the packaging of the dolls, which themselves were not compromised. The IDP added that they did not believe the compromised units were sent to other retailers and there has been no injuries or overdoses reported. But of course, this investigation is ongoing. I think that is interesting. I don't understand, like, how that's set up. Is it like someone's going to go in and buy the Barbies, but they're not paying street price for the fentanyl? I don't understand that method of transporting and trafficking it. So I was looking a little bit deeper into seeing, so I could understand it, of other cases that have happened. And you know what, what the backstory is, so to speak. And it turns out that I'd never heard of this. This happened in 2024 at a Buc EE's. If anybody knows about Buc EE's. Buc EE's is a huge gas station, convenience store destination location for people that are traveling. They have everything under the sun. They have gifts, they have books, they have candies, they have snacks, coffees, drinks, the barbecue, all different types of food wraps and, you know, sandwiches and fresh food on the line. You know, like you could get like a cafeteria depending on where you are. Fudge. You name it at that store, they have it. And it's huge. It's got like, some have over 50 gas pumps and it's like getting in and out. I don't know, it's craziness when it's like the height of summer or height of travel time. So in Texas, a deputy found multiple drugs inside of a stuffed animal during a recent traffic stop for an infraction. And according to Fayetteville County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Cody Williams executed a traffic stop on I10 on Wednesday, July 31st. And the driver was a 47 year old San Antonian. And he gave the detective or the deputy permission to search his vehicle. And then during the search, the deputy smelled marijuana emitting from the car and discovered several Buc ee's plush toys in the backseat. The logo for Buc ee's popular chain of convenience stores is a beaver with a red cap. And when Deputy Williams inspected the plush toys. He found that they were restricted with packages inside containing ecstasy and two pounds of marijuana. that point, the driver complained he was suffering from chest pain and was transported to a local hospital, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities then seized the drugs and issued a warrant. Earlier this year, six people were arrested. This was in 2024. So earlier that year, six people were arrested after the feds accused them of putting fentanyl pills into stuffed animals and mailing them to different addresses in Minnesota. And the drugs were originally purchased in Phoenix, Arizona. During the investigation, authorities discovered six packages with 30,000 grams of pills, and the accused were charged with conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. So that really doesn't give me much more information, but that is a interesting story. I know they hide drugs and anything, and that's the goal, so. Oh, I just got a picture of our grandbaby. Sweet baby. Okay, back to the news. Cindy. That's my, that's my joy to get through these stories.

I truly do not believe in look shaming. I really truly, truly, truly do not. This woman that I'm about to talk about has. I can't describe her hair. It's sticking straight up. It looks like the police have a fan blowing on her head and making her hair stick straight up and straight back. That's the first thing you see when you load this. But this woman, this mother, if you want to call her that, in Ohio, was arrested after she put her seven children, including an infant, inside of a car while she went into an Internet cafe to gamble. Raquel Hicks was taken into custody on Thursday, March 19, and was charged with seven counts of endangering children by creating a substantial risk to health or safety. Hicks is 37 years old and she allegedly put her seven children into her car and drove them to Luna's Internet Cafe in Toledo at 9:15pm they're supposed to be asleep at that time. The criminal complaint said that Hicks created a substantial risk to the safety of her children for various reasons. Not only did she leave them in the car unattended for about 40 minutes, she also drove them to the Internet cafe with a suspended license and did not have any car seats installed in the vehicle for her younger children.

Officials said that once Hicks arrived at the Internet cafe, she did knowingly leave the children in the car from around 9:20 to 10:00pm and that is where she stayed and gambled. Hicks was ultimately arrested and booked into the Lucas County Corrections center on the night of the incident, and I can promise you it's not the first time that she did this. But it's not currently clear how the children were located in the vehicle or where they went after Hicks was taken into custody. And she did make her first court appearance on Friday, March 20th before Toledo Municipal Judge Joseph Howe and she pleaded not guilty to all seven counts filed against her. The judge ordered Hicks to be released on her own recognizance under the conditions she wears a GPS tracking device. The court also determined that Hicks was unable to afford an attorney of her own, so she was appointed a public defender. Not uncommon. So I'm quite curious how this ends up. I'm quite curious where her kids are and I can 100% guarantee that that is not the first time she has done that.

we're going to Pato, Oklahoma. Hope I'm saying that right and Deputies found Gabriel Wilson, who's 31, and her 17 month old daughter dead from gunshots around 4:30pm on Saturday in a home off of Old Tarby Road. This area is like a rural, mountainous city. Grant hoffman Wilson, who's 31, was wanted by the LaFleur County Sheriff's Office in Oklahoma for allegedly killing his twin sister and her 17 month old child. This is according to the Monroe deputies. The floor county deputies tracked his vehicle and alerted Monroe deputies. Grant Wilson was traveling through Interstate 475 southbound around 12:30am on Sunday or about eight hours after Gabriel Wilson and her daughter were found dead. Monroe deputies tried to pull Wilson over but it ended up being a brief pursuit. He eventually did decide to stop and he parked his vehicle and he was arrested without incident and then booked into the Monroe County Jail. Wilson was charged with two counts of first degree murder in fleeing and obstructing law enforcement and this is according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. He was expected to face a judge this week and be extradited back to Oklahoma. According to Anna Watkins, which is the public information officer of MCSO. When the 31 year old was arrested, deputies found a pistol, rifle, shotgun, multiple loaded magazines and loose ammunition of various calibers in his vehicle. Deputies also located several bags containing clothing and long term food supply. So he was definitely running.

Around 6:39am on Sunday, March 22, deputies responded to Melinda Road in Pembroke, North Carolina and there was reports that two people had been discovered dead inside a camper located on the property. When officials arrived they found actually a third deceased person. The victims have now been identified as 28 year old Tristan Goines of Maxton, North Carolina, 51 year old Howard Dean Jones of Lumberton, North Carolina and 35 year old Ashley N. Jacobs of Pembroke, North Carolina. Ethan Lee Spalding was arrested in connection with their deaths later that day and before his arrest there was a short standoff with officials at an apartment complex in Red springs. Spalding, who's 27, has now been charged with three counts of first degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a weapon within an enclosure to incite fear. He is being held at a detention center without bond and it's unclear whether the 27 year old will or has secured legal representation. This arrest marks a significant step towards justice in what is a truly senseless and tragic triple homicide in the Prospect community outside of Pembroke, and Sheriff Bernis Wilkins said in his post on Facebook. I commend our investigators for their tireless work and unwavering commitment to bring this suspect into custody and also thank the community for their patience and cooperation. In the Facebook post, the sheriff emphasized that the case is another example of drugs leading to violent crime in the county. The destruction caused by illegal narcotics continues to impact families and communities across Robinson county and we will not let up in our efforts to com to combat it. No community deserves to live in fear, he continued. Our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of loved ones affected by this devastating loss and I was thinking about that as I read it. I really hope that I'm not telling a story one day and that someone finds out that they lost a friend or loved one that way it presumably could actually happen which would be horrible. Beast Mode In Hopkins County, Texas, we have a video that surfaced of an East Texas breeder shooting a dog and a federal investigation revealed deplorable conditions of her unlicensed facility and these charges could put her in prison for up to 20 years. An indictment has been delivered from the federal Grand Jury in the Eastern District of Texas on Monday and it names Christine Michelle Hicks, who's 51 years old of Cumby and charged her with acting as an Unlicensed animal dealer in four counts of wire fraud. Hicks's appearance in federal court comes after being arrested on December 21, 2025, because of a social media video that depicted her shooting at a dog three times and leaving it for dead. Why would she do this on a video? I mean, why would you do it at all, but much less on a video? So this spurred the investigation into her breeding facilities. Following Hicks's arrest, search warrants executed on January 10 at her dog breeding and sales business found 88 German shepherds held in devastating conditions. The dogs had lacked adequate shelter from environmental exposure in their pens. And their pens were actually dirt and mud filled. And they had rusty buckets clipped to fences in a crowded row that were supposed to be the dog's source of food. A few had a little bit of dog food in the bottom of their bowl, but most were empty, and the water containers had mostly dirty water in them. Dogs were found starving, sick and neglected. Many had bite wounds, scars and feces caked in their coats and feet. An approximate total of 131 dogs were held at the property in December of 2025, but Hicks had moved some to another location. Various animal care agencies assisted the remaining 88 dogs, 56 of which were surrendered to the SPCA of Texas for emergency intervention. Additionally, the investigation into Giant German shepherds, that's the name of her business, found that Hicks has been running the business fraudulently. She advertised dogs as healthy, met, certified parentage, and were AKC registered, though in the indictment found they were not. That is serious business. Like, I, if I were to have a certain amount of litters a year, which I never have more than one litter a year, and most of the time I go years in between litters, I would have to be registered. And I did have two litters side by side because I had two. Two dogs. One actually accidentally got pregnant. It just happened. We didn't intentionally do it and we didn't try to stop it either, but, you know, we just didn't anticipate it happening. But anyway, when I registered the dog litters, I got a phone call from the AKC and actually had to talk to them about it and explain the registrations and why they happened the way that they did. And it was explained to me that, you know, it might be best if I wanted to continue to have litters to go ahead and register myself, and then they would potentially send someone out to look at the facility and stuff like that. I actually did show pictures of what, you know, where the dogs were like in Real time. You know, when I spoke to them, I wanted full disclosure of anything. And actually, because I had two litters, I also used online service to help me sell them. And I had to go through a rigorous process to do that. And I can promise you, we did not have rusty bowls and dirt floors and feces on bodies and things. You know, all of that. I mean, of course, we didn't have 120something dogs either, but anyway, so going back to the story, many of the dogs sold were mixed breeds. They weren't even purebred. That was promised by Hicks's website. And they had diseases. According to the indictment, Hicks also bought litters through Facebook and allegedly created false AKC documents to defraud buyers. Four people identified as victims of Hicks alleged wire fraud were named in the indictment, including a disabled veteran who received an aggressive dog with false paperwork. The dog, which had medical issues, reportedly drew blood from the buyers several times. The indictment also states that Hicks knowingly violated the Animal Welfare act by not obtaining a license from the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture before selling or transporting dogs from June of 2024 to December 2025. And if convicted, Hicks could face up to 40 years in federal prison for her count of acting as an animal dealer without a license and four counts of wire fraud. I can say that this is not an exaggeration. About half of the people that get one of our dogs have always reached out and asked when we're going to have another litter. And I will also say that I learned on our first litter about the fear phases that puppies go through and how important it is to protect them during that time from hearing, like, harsh noises, banging doors, fireworks, rifles, if they're in a fear phase. And there's ways of determining if they're in a fear phase that can actually make them fearful of whatever the said thing is for the rest of their lives. But, yes, the dog, like, attacking the man. If they're under those types of situations where there's dogs fighting dogs and all that, they're going to learn the behavior. I mean, if the woman shot the dogs and posted the video, I'm assuming that she wasn't treating them ethically either. So, so much to say about that. But that is my last story of the day. And so now I want to give you the update hashtag, JusticeForHailey is coming. Scott Loder continues to do his investigation, all of his forensic analysis, and I know that he is creating another interview, video type of situation that we will play for y' all when it is Finalized. He's tested a few things that Ms. Barbara had given to Woody. He is continuing to go through the investigation. We still need to pay him, and we're going to come up with a way to get the next couple thousand that he is owed. And we just thank him for doing all that he's doing out of the goodness of his heart, truly. So that is the update on justice for Haley. The update is please give to GoFundMe. Please share the GoFundMe. We've got to get to the next. We've got to get, you know, Scott paid. And so he's, you know, good, and we can move forward with justice for Haley, you know, turning everything over to Cobb county, etc. But I will say that when you get the information that he is recording right now in the interviews, it is new, so to speak. New information and very clear and concise proving of what actually occurred that night in the hashtag, what happened to Madison, guys, thank you so very much. So this is what, like, just like when Woody worked Mary Pusho's case, just like when he worked Courtney Coco's case, when you get information that is credible and not like, well, I lived in, you know, Rapids, or I lived in Leesville in 1982 and I saw a case with a red light underneath a bridge, you know, like. Or an alien came down and this isn't a joke. An alien came down and told me that Bradley was running through the woods in such and such parish. The tips that we are getting in right now are so credible and putting, like I told you the last time I spoke about this, but I cannot stress it enough. If you did not hear that episode, I'm going to say it again, that the information that is being received is so credible and it is putting so many pieces together that it is going to get a murderer off of the streets and behind bars. And I got goosebumps as I say that. I get what my goosebumps is like, God bumps. Like, you know, I know that what I'm saying is true and I can feel it in me when I edit these episodes, I get chills, which is like the opposite of the goodness going through me. It is like creepy, scary, demonic. So we're moving forward with this and please keep your tips coming in. We are so appreciative of them. And Woody hinted also on the episode that we talked with that we actually got to record together what he hinted or spoke about alive at the end of July. And so the date we're looking at for that is July 17th and 18th. So we're looking at July 18th, Saturday, and it is going to be put on by Southeastern Lifelong Learning. And that is in Walker, Louisiana. It will not be in Hammond at this point. So we will have some fun things like we always do. Scheduled and planned. And we will have tickets being posted soon. I will tell you that there will be one ticket price this year. We're not going to do two different levels of ticket pricing. There will be one and I think everybody's going to be so happy with it because of the way that the event is going to be organized. So plan out your summers and get a babysitter. And I will post hotel information as soon as possible. The other announcement that Woody actually spoke about, we're looking at dates for. He's also been asked to speak at Southeastern Lifelong Learning for to speak to teach a class. And that is going to be a class that he develops. It will be a one of a kind class put on obviously by Woody Overton with and it's not going to be alive. This is a class. It will have objectives. You will learn something. You can come and just have fun and listen. But if you are into true crime, I promise you this is the class that you want to take or this is the you you want to be here. And the way it's going to be structured is very cool and with and I'm not, I'm going to let Woody explain that structure. But I have not found in my research, when I was doing the creative on it and presenting Woody with the different scenarios, I have not found another thing like this out there. So I don't want to say it's one of a kind. But, you know, at the time when Woody and I started real life, real crime, it was one of a kind. And we had some police officers talking, like telling a few stories, but not like what he did. So anyway, that is that. Stay tuned for more details on that. They will be posted on Facebook and in our app. And thank you for joining us every day of the week almost. And this has been True crime time for March 26, 2026. And I am Cindy Overton and thank you for listening. Oh, and if you're new here, thank you for joining us. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I get messages every day about, oh, I've heard about this pot. This isn't the same message every day. Oh, I've heard about this podcast and I never listened because, you know, it wasn't something that I'm not really interested in true crime, but my friend told me about this case or my friend told me about that case and I or I saw you on your discovery ID or I saw you on Dateline and I'm hooked. And we get that all the time. So please continue to share because you don't know what your friends, your friends might be hooked and you might have a growing bonding friendship over true crime that you didn't know you were going to have. So also more importantly, you don't know who you're going to share it with that actually has information about a case that you wouldn't have known otherwise. Because they might not have told you that they were at a racetrack in December at 1 o' clock in the morning and some weirdo came up to them and asked him a question and there was a, you know, whatever, I'm not going to go. But you know, like we don't know. So the more you share, the more tips. And that being said, now I'm done. So thank y'. All. See you soon.

Episode Theme:
In this solo-hosted episode, Cindy Overton (covering for Woody) guides listeners through a twisted, true-crime roundup featuring corrupt professionals (especially teachers), shocking family tragedies, environmental crimes, a “Fentanyl Barbie” scare, and violent cases that shook communities. Plus, Cindy provides updates on cold case advocacy projects, emphasizing the importance of community tips and ongoing investigations.
The episode delivers a rapid-fire series of bizarre, disturbing, and at times, darkly humorous true crime stories. Cindy discusses recent (and historic) cases of abuse, murder, environmental crime, and parental neglect, while providing context from a justice and advocacy perspective. Notably, there are case updates and important reminders about community involvement in solving crimes.

Cindy’s delivery is personal, conversational, sometimes darkly humorous, but always empathetic—especially when addressing family losses, mental health, and advocacy. The language is direct, frequently breaking the fourth wall (“Let me just tell the story,” “I promise you…”), and the advice is pragmatic for parents and true-crime listeners alike.
This episode exemplifies the Real Life Real Crime style: a raw, unflinching look at the worst of real-world crime, balanced by the host’s personal touches, practical insights, and relentless advocacy for justice. The roundup format covers a spectrum of crimes, each illustrating larger failures in systems meant to protect the vulnerable. Listeners are reminded to stay vigilant, get involved in advocacy, and support ongoing investigations. Whether you’re here for shocking headlines or actionable tips, this episode delivers both in spades.
