And let's get down to some true crime time for this day. On this day in 1977, when Woodster was just a young boy playing with Star wars action figures, the body of 23 year old Jose Campos Torres was discovered drown near a place that they call the Hole after being severely beaten multiple times. Now, two of the officers, Terry Denson and Stephen Orlando, were convicted of the reduced charge of negligent homicide and sentenced to one year of probation and a fine of $1. You know what, that I need to. I need to look that up real quick. Let's do Jose Campos. I need to know about that. Jose Campos TS 1977, because you deserve more information than that. All right, so this said the 1977 killing of Jose Campos Torres, who's a 23 year old Mexican American Vietnam veteran. The evidently he got killed by the Houston Police Department. And they said it's a landmark case in Houston's history that fundamentally altered the city's relationship with its minority communities. On May 5, 1977, Torres was arrested for disorderly conduct at a bar in Houston's East End. But instead of being properly processed at the city jail where a booking officer had already refused him due to his visible injuries from being beaten, six officers took him to an isolated area known as the Hole along Buffalo Bayou. There they continued to assault him before pushing him off a platform into the water where he drowned. So the negligent homicide conviction. Two officers were convicted by an all white jury of the misdemeanor negligent homicide. I'm pretty sure it's not a misdemeanor. And they received only one year probation and a $1 fine. Well, the federal civil rights charges. Following the federal intervention, all six officers were found guilty of civil rights violations and three served. Three of them served nine months in federal prison. So Moody park riots on May 7, 1978, which is the first anniversary of Taurus burial, they said similar intentions bowled over in the Moody park riots during the Cinco de Mayo celebration in the institutional reform. This case forced the creation of HPD's internal affairs division. How about that? In 1977, to investigate officer misconduct. Well, there you go. The first time I ever expanded on that. Interesting. All right, y', all, beast mode. You know, I know a lot. A little about a lot. I think that's how you say it. But I really don't know anything about. Or sloths. S L O T H S. Right. Well, I'm about to bless you with a little knowledge Tells now in a

Fox 35 investigation into sloth World, we just learned that another sloth has died. Unfortunately, Dumpling did not make it. This is the third sloth to pass away in less than a week. FOX 35's Imani Martinez is joining us live from the Central Florida Zoo where the remaining 10 sloths are now being treated. So Manny, any update tonight on how those other sloths are doing?
Fox 35 Reporter Manny Martinez
Well, Luann, out of those, one of them, the youngest of them at only three or four months old, remains in that critical guarded condition. And, and it was one of four sloths that came here to the Central Florida Zoo that were in that condition. And three of those four have so far passed, including Dumpling. We'll show you some video that over the past 11 days that staff here at the zoo have taken care of Dumpling, that two toed sloth. He struggled with digestion and Dumpling's condition worsened suddenly Monday morning. He's one of a total of 13 sloths donated by Sloth World to the Central Florida zoo. And and FoxReady5 was first to tell you about the investigation into the deaths of 31 sloths at a warehouse in Orange county before Sloth World was set to open. And while the surviving sloths are now getting round the clock care, the zoo says their metabolisms work so slowly their conditions can nosedive at a moment's notice. And so we told you last week that Bandit died, Habanero died this past weekend. And the zoo CEO says that each of these deaths is heartbreaking because this team, they have gotten so close to these sloths and they also feel the pressure to get them rehabilitated. And they say that they also feel the love from the community and the support from all of the people who have been closely following the story, including sending them donations to help cover the costs for this care. You will hear from the CEO here at the zoo coming up on the News Edge at 6. For now, live in Sanford, Manny Martinez, Fox 35 News.
Woody Overton
All right, so let's talk about this for a second. Sloth World. Evidently it was a real thing and they had 30 of them that housed in a warehouse before they opened up Sloth World. I don't know, I mean, I hadn't been to the zoo in a long time. I'm sure I'll take my grandbaby at some point to the zoo who in the is going to go to a place called Sloth World? And then the fact that Sloth World isn't a viable venture. And they had to donate these, the remaining sloths that live to the zoo. And some of them are dying. I'm not against sloths, they're cute and all that shit. But the. It must have been a really fucking slow news day and in South Florida for them to give two minutes to that. But shame on those people who kill those sloths who are negligent, right y'. All. We're going to roll out to Arkansas and wait until you hear what this dumb bits did. I couldn't fathom that such a thing would exist. Kind of like sloth world. So an Arkansas school director who acted as the ringleader of a makeshift child fight club. Remember the movie Fight Club? I mean you know that still goes on. They have these illegal bare knuckle contests. She is the ringleader in getting kids to fight. Anyway, she's now been sentenced to serve 30 days in jail. Mary Tracy Morrison pled guilty to one count of permitting child abuse and four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. And this according to the local Kait TV in Arkansas. So Morrison, who is an occupational therapist was sentenced to 60 months probation on a child abuse charge and 12 months probation for each of the other charges. And when Morrison is released from jail she'll be required to complete 120 days of house arrest with electronic monitoring. And according to local TV Kate Morrison will also be prohibited from working with children once she's released from jail and must give up her occupational therapy related licenses. And a judge ordered her to complete a mental health evaluation treatment. Now I'm gonna give you the rest of the story. As Paul Harvard would say, okay. The Fox News also reported that three other school employees, Michael Beam, Kristen Bell and Katherine Lipscomb were also arrested in connection with the abuse. But let me tell you about this child fight club. So Mary Tracy Morrison was arrested after a mom reported to the Craighead County Sheriff's office in on April 17th of 2025 that her 13 year old child was subjected to mental and physical abuse at the Engaged School. And the Delta Institute for the Developing Brain Kit TV reported that video tamed by authorities that showed Morrison directing the child to sit on the floor while being by other students. And Morrison now affidavit obtained by KTV said Morrison told the other students to put their hands on the child in the center while striking the child with an unknown object. The news outlet noted that Morrison reprimanded the child while another student kicked and choked the kid. Morrison apparently was shown in the video Given the student who assaulted the victim a high five, showing her enjoyment of a student's vicious actions. Right, yeah. You just kicked the out of that little kid and give me a high five. You. You my main man. Right. So after the attack, Morrison instructed the victim to apologize to all the other students, adding that the situation should not be discussed again. Well, you it was. And thankfully it was. So Sonia F. Haggood, who's the prosecuting attorney, told KTV that The incident lasted 30 minutes and involved a teacher instructing a student to hit another in the private area. Hit him in the balls. I mean, what the fuck? I don't know, bro. This episode is sponsored by Better Help. United States Secret Service officer John Andrew Spillman busted for allegedly dropping his pants, pleasuring himself and menacingly following hotel guests to the point they had to retreat to their room for safety. This Double Tree near Miami International Airport is where the 33 year old four federal law enforcement member was arrested just after midnight Monday after victims told sheriff's deputies they were downstairs in the hotel lobby and the defendant followed them. Then they saw the defendant masturbating next to their hotel room. The Miami Dade Sheriff's Office report explaining they called hotel security who found the defendant with his pants lowered and masturbating on the sixth floor. 7News reached out to the Secret Service about their officer said to be caught with his pants down. They tell us Officer Spillman, who's from Marble Falls, Texas, is based in Washington D.C. but was in South Florida working a security perimeter screening detail at Trump Doral for the President's visit as he attended the 2026 Cadillac Championship Golf tournament. The chief of the Secret Service releasing a statement that reads in part the alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel. Spillman's South Florida assignment concluded Sunday and he was off duty when arrested.

Woody Overton
Okay. What the. Yeah. Wtf I mean, you are a United States Secret Service officer, right? At what point do you think, by the way, that Double Tree Hotel by the airport. I stayed there for a week. One time when I was working in Miami. I had a balcony and that looked out over the airport. But the, it's a nice place. And it's this, it's a big circular inside with a courtyard and restaurant and bar and, and all that and lots of tables and lots of booths and, and the rooms go up, they circle around you. It's like it's hollow on the inside. But everybody's downstairs eating and doing whatever. And so this dude, United States Secret Service decides at some point that he's going to follow these women and whip out his winky and start spanking the monkey, if you will. I, and he didn't stop. I, I, it wouldn't matter if he stopped or not, but I could promise to have it on camera, but the, the, and the Secret Service has just put him on leave. I don't get it. And he, he's been put on leave after authorities say he exposed himself to hotel guests in Miami and began masturbating in front of them. Now this is kind of a young dude. He's 33 years old. The I don't understand what the you're thinking. And you're in a federal law enforcement officer. I don't understand how you really thought this was going to work out for you, right? You whip out your dick in. In a double tree in front of people in there and you start masturbating in front of everybody. Do you not think you're going to jail Anyway? So the. The victim said that Spillman began menacingly following them, leaving them in fear for their lives. And then they saw him masturbating next to their hotel room. I'm follow you. I'm give you the. I want. I want some of that monkey eye. And I'm gonna follow you until I scare the out of you because I'm obviously crazy as and I'm following you down the hallway and I got the lustful look on in my eyes. So they run in the room, shut the door, and they peek out and what's he doing? He's. He is beating his meat. And so they call hotel security and they come up and guess what? This Spillman is still there with his pants on the floor masturbating. And this is on the sixth floor of the hotel. So. So. So he gets arrested and then, I mean, he gets a thousand dollar bond and he's on administrative leave. I'm pretty sure his ass needs to be fired. And I don't know how drunk you have to say you were or think you were, or maybe you were blacked out or whatever, but the if I'm pretty sure you just don't start masturbating in public for your first time in the Miami Doubletree Hotel. And I'm pretty sure whoever did his psych evaluation before he got hired on, they're getting looked at too. I mean, he had to get the polygraphs and everything else. Maybe he just started blinking it in public. I don't know. It's not really funny, but it's kind of funny. Funny as it's time for family matters, y'. All. We grew up traveling baseball and you know, I grew up playing all the sports. My parents would come to games and whatever, going to the games as parents. And there's always that parent, right? The one that's wants to fight with the referee or hollering at, you know, other kids on the other team and doing stupid. And it's unfortunate now, but most games I know of p they actually have to have cops there because there's going to be some kind of guaranteed. But we're going back to Florida and I'm gonna play you a video. A lot of it is part of the arrest. This could be hard to hear. And this was a Florida mom did during a football game.

She's detained because they said you hit a kid. So let me give the. The deets, the background. And again, they always have that asshole in the crowd. So. For going to Fort Myers, Florida. And a mother was arrested in Fort Myers on Saturday after authorities said she interfered with a youth football game and kicked a child who was playing in the game. Deputies at a Pop Warner Little Scholars football game at Brooks Community park were made aware of an altercation on the football field. That's according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Now, the LCSO said a video shows two teams involved in a physical altercation after a play. A mother then storms onto the field and begins kicking a player. Right? Yeah. I mean, I'm pretty sure they have referees for that. And if they're fighting, I got thrown out of my last football game I played in for fighting. And the. But this mama goes out in the field. These are young kids, like 9 years old. And she goes out there and kicks the. Out of the kid. So body camera video shows deputies talking to an arresting Renee Lambert, who claimed a child hit her with a helmet. Well, I'm probably pretty sure they did. When. When you went out on the football field and starts kicking the kid. I would have wanted my kid to hit you with a helmet, too. Defend yourself. Lamb said the child hit her first, so she fought back. You ain't supposed to be on the football field. Lcso said her claim was later disproven. Said, are you mad at them for hitting me? This is what Lambert said. Then the deputy says, I'm mad at an adult for attacking a kid. And Lambert was arrested for cruelty toward a child, abuse without great bodily harm, and resisting an officer. In the video, y', all, most of it was. You heard it. He said Debbie said you're detained. She said, no, I'm not. She said, you need to go get number nine like he's a kid. You on the football field. Yeah. Don't be that right. Okay. Lots of things you can find together when you do dope bus. And let me put put it. You have oftentimes times heard me say that meth is a sex drug. I mean, when I went to my first meth school, they said meth lab school. They said, you two things you're guaranteed to find a firearm and some type of pornography. Right. And it's a big deal. But let me tell you about this cop. He makes a traffic stop and what did he find?
Fox 35 Reporter Manny Martinez
And a traffic stop in Beauregard Parish turns into a major drug bust after deputies say they found meth, marijuana and dozens of Viagra pills inside the vehicle. According to the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, the stop happened yesterday afternoon when deputies noticed signs of possible criminal activity and pulled the suspect vehicle over. During a canine search of the car, investigators say that they found more than 3 ounces of methamphetamines, about 50 Viagra tablets, marijuana and $1,000 in cash. 71 year old Leon angel from New Mexico was arrested and booked into the Beauregard Parish jail. He now faces charges including possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of a Schedule 2 drug, and possession of a legend drug.
Woody Overton
Y', all, this dude is 71 years old. Transporting method, Viagra and weed. In the end, he's from New Mexico. What are you doing in Bogard Parish, Louisiana? That's a long ways, right? And then to the middle of nowhere. So they said they pulled him over around 3:25pm and noticed signs of possible criminal activity. That's fancy way to write it up. So they deployed their canine Brick. And Brick alerted to the presence of drugs and that's when they found. I told you about the meth, the marijuana. But the main thing, 50 tablets of Viagra.

His work alongside with his handler and the entire K9 division play a crucial role in the protecting the citizens Beauregard Parish. This according to the Bogard Parish Sheriff's office though. Good job Brick on finding that dope. All right. But I'm gonna go back and look at it real quick because it's not much. 3.5 ounces of meth or approximately 99.2 grams. So that's not a lot and he could claim that personees 13 grams of marijuana that's not he can claim that person use a thousand dollars in US currency but I don't see how the 71 year old is going to claim 50 legend drug Y'. All. That's what virus classified under 50 Viagra tablets. Interesting. It's time for dum dum in the court now racism on any level is stupid okay? Judge people by how they treat you not the color of their skin or their nationality or origin or whatever. Don't believe in it. I think it's fucking stupid. But some people have nothing better else to do. Nothing better else to believe in in this this story is crazy. The we're going to Rhode Island 2:00 clock in the morning and they video captured outside of a store in Rhode island shows a person dressed in a pointed white hood and white gown and causing outrage among the community. Now if you're dressed in a pointed white hood in a white gown that screams kkk right so police said they're investigating the video. Now here's the local perspective. The video was recorded by one security cameras outside Candy's Curiosity and Vintage which is located at West Warwick, Rhode Island. The video shows a person dressed in all white very similar to the uniforms worn by members of the Klu Klux Klan and he's just walking down the sidewalk. Then they said I'm absolutely disgusted that you stopped by to pay me a visit. The shop owner road on Facebook try it during the day dare you loser. juvenile court to adult court. That's why you are here. Police reports say the victim was leaving her friend's house when 13 year old Nelson Nunez grabbed her, forced her on a couch inside the Green Haven Community Garden in and raped her while 12 year old Josiah Jones and Xavier Tyson, who was 14 at the time, restrained her. Police say Jones put rocks in her mouth to stop her from screaming. The victim says it went on for about 30 minutes and the boys stopped when they heard her father calling her name. We've learned from the founders of the community garden Green Haven project telling Local 10 the situation has been very saddening. They say the garden is closed off to the public outside of normal operating hours and on that day a construction company cut the side gate which allowed for anyone to enter the garden. The organization said it extended support to the victim adding we will always be here to support in the best way possible and that our extension of love and resources will always be available to the victim and her family, which we very much cared for. Both the 12 and 13 year old are at west the West Detention center. Both of them being held there without bond. As far as Xavier Taylor, the 15 year old, we have not seen that he has seen a judge just yet, but when he does, we'll Update you on what happens there. And we have also reached out to everyone involved in this case, their representatives and that includes includes the victim in this case. And we have not heard back from anyone just yet. they title that the, the title of it. The story is too young for a license, old enough for prison. The brutal debate over 12 year olds facing adult charges in Florida. The y', all, they held a 12 year old girl down, put rocks in her mouth and raped her for over 30 minutes. She's lucky to be alive. Right. And that's, you know, it happened a minute ago. Whether the of course is a very serious thing. They're young kids. All of them are young kids and but they took it to the grand jury and they take it to the grand jury for a reason. They present the evidence and say is this serious enough for them to be charged as adults? The grand jury is the one that came back said absolutely. Charge them as adults. Right. And charge them with this aggravated rape. Because they heard directly from the victim and the horror that she had to endure. Now you say 12 and 13. There were 12 and 13 and 14. Woody. Well, yeah, I'm pretty sure you know, you know what rape is and you're doing and you're having to hold her down. She didn't consent. Not that she could consent at 12 years years old anyway. They need to be locked up. The they're lucky she's not dead. They're, you know, should they go for life, they need to go for juvenile life and they're not even going to get that. But what happens is they're going to, they're going to probably plea out to something as an adult. Yeah. Maybe some type of lesser charges and get 20 or 30 years. Right. They're not going to throw them into Gainesville Prison. But all the at 12 and 13, 14 years old, they'll be housed in a juvenile detention center which is another word for. They don't like to call them juvenile prisons, but that's what it is, a prison. They'll hold them there until they're 20. Juvenile life 20, 21 maybe at 18 they'll transfer them over to the DOC and but they'll be kept with the younger prisoners more like on the trustee ward. And when they hit 21 it you turn loose in the general population as it should be. Do I think they deserve death penalty? No. I mean they're still young but they know what they did is horribly wrong. The they're going to spend a lot. A lot of years in prison and prayers for the victim, thankful she's alive. Of. You know, you do that kind of. You do that kind of. You put 12 people in a grand jury that are regular people who have family members, who have daughters or nieces or, you know, whatever, and they have you. You get that victim in there, and she tells the story of exactly the 30 minutes of horror. And they go, she went through those. People in that grand jury are going to want somebody to pay. They're not used to hearing this. Probably most of them never even list to a true crime episode about anything. These are regular people from all walks of life who. It's like that. Lock those monsters up. Try them as adults. And I don't. I don't disagree with that. All right, y', all, man, this one kind of funny night gonna bring it back home to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Red Stick, right? And cops are out there working. I got a lot of great friends on the force still. A lot of them are retired. But, you know, drugs push everything. Drugs. Push the home invasions and robberies and a lot of times the rapes and everything else. The. So fighting drugs, you never going to win that battle. But sometimes some funny shit happens. But they said there's nothing funny about drugs breaking the law, drug dealers, or being arrested. But a recent video out of Baton Rouge is going viral and getting a lot of laughs despite all of these. So during a drug bust and arrest in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the alleged drug dealer is in cuffs in the back of the squad car when his cell phone rings. Well, what officers do? They answer the phone, and they have a chat with the person that's on the phone, and guess who it was. It was a customer of the drug dealer, and they were looking to get some dope. So the. Anyway, the. The cops answered it, and they act like they're the drug dealer, and they set up a scam. They set up a drug deal with the client, right? And the result is pretty crazy. It's pretty funny. All right, I'm going see if I can play it for you, y'. All. The actual call.

Anyway, kind of funny, right, that he. That that lady might still be sitting on Elm street waiting on the dope to be delivered. So it started out, they got the guy under arrest, and he's got a shit pile of dope. They were weighing up, and guy wanted to fight, but by the end, you know, the woman calls in, they answer his phone, and. And they tell him. In the end, he's laughing, right? But saying, follow me on Instagram. But he knew the cameras were rolling. But that's all I got for today. The. Not quite sure what I'm doing on Madison's case tomorrow yet. I'm.
