Hello, everybody, and welcome to True Crime. Time for Wednesday, November 12, 2025. And I am Cindy Overton. And essentially Wood tagged me today and he said, I'm going to need you to record without me for the next two days. So we have no Woody for two days. Please bear with me as I try to get through this without the lead character. My main man, he's out doing some stuff that we can't talk about. It's very important stuff and I'll just leave it there. And yesterday was Veterans Day and I just want to thank all of our veterans, especially my husband that I honestly did not thank. We have so many things that we're juggling. I did not realize that it was even Veterans Day. But anyway, thank you to all of our veterans and it's because of you that I get to sit in a studio and talk behind a mic and use my freedom of speech. So let's get started on Hump Day Wednesday as what I would call it. But let's see what's in the news. For sure.

It's time for worldwide crime.

We're starting off in the UK and I have not or I was not when I used it. I was not shy about sharing that I took some GLP ones like Semaglutide or Semaglutide or however you choose to say it. I used it. This was a couple years ago and I got it from Flourish hormone replacement in denim. And I'm very glad that I got it from Flourish. And we're about to hear a story about people doing some really bad things with with some medications that have changed people's lives with. The authorities in the United Kingdom say organized crime groups are now producing counterfeit weight loss medications, packaging them to look like legitimate prescriptions sold under well known name brands. Investigators report that the demand for drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy has grown so fast that criminal networks have stepped in to capitalize on shortages and high resale prices. These fake medications are being manufactured in illegal facilities and they are sold online through social media marketplaces and even private messaging networks. The counterfeit drugs, you know, as most counterfeits do, they look convincing. Except there's always something, you know, that like if Sophie and I went to the Merry market at Lamar Dixon on Sunday and there was a vendor that was selling some obvious faux Gucci's and Louis Vuitton and it was quite obvious that they were knockoffs because it was tangible. We could look at it. The scary thing obviously with these medications is you obviously cannot look in a vial and see the composition of the chemicals in them. So it's very scary because these counterfeit drugs do look convincing. The same style packaging, same labeling and they do not contain the proper active ingredients. In some cases they contain unknown chemicals or incorrect dosing levels, creating serious medical risk. And authorities are warning that this is no longer just consumer fraud. It is definitely an organized criminal production driven by profit and difficult to track because distribution is happening digitally. Health officials in the UK are urging anyone using weight loss medication to verify their prescription with a licensed pharmacy and report any suspicious online sellers. And of course, this investigation is ongoing and law enforcement agencies say more arrests are expected. And thank goodness, because that is is extremely scary. It's just scary because those medications are very expensive. And if someone is offering, you know, a medication at a good price and people can't afford it, usually they're going to be tempted to buy it and you know, of course, hopefully in the hopes of reaping the benefits that everyone else is. So please be careful out there with that. For my next story, we're going to keep it in the worldwide crime theme. The United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime is working with Interpol and being supported by international partners. And they have announced a renewed global initiative to disrupt the criminal organizations behind human trafficking. And migrant exploitation. The effort targets large scale trafficking networks operating across Latin America, the Caribbean, West Africa and Europe. And that's where authorities say traffickers are coordinating smuggling, forced labor, sexual exploitation, document fraud and money laundering. Officials say trafficking networks are increasingly interconnected with other forms of organized crime, including illegal mining, narcotics movement and environmental destruction. That means, you know, that traffickers are operating like multinational cartels. The new initiative focuses on real time intelligence sharing between countries, identifying financial routes and money laundering channels, and coordinated law enforcement raids across borders. And of course, the goal is to dismantle these horrific networks and not just by arresting the individuals on the ground. The task force is also pushing to expand victim support services, noting that trafficking victims often cross borders and require medical, legal and housing assistance in multiple countries. Officials say initiative is ongoing and additional partner nations are expected to join. So I look forward to hearing how these networks are being dismantled and of course, we will give you an update here on true crime time. 4 and now I guess I'm keeping with a theme so I'm going to now go to Cambridgeshire, England. There was a man carrying a knife on a train and he decided to attack some passengers and they were on a train traveling between Peterborough and London and he left multiple people injured. The incident occurred shortly after the train departed Peterborough and witnesses reported chaos as passengers attempted to move away from the attacker while others tried to intervene. And the train made an emergency stop at Huntingdon Station where police and paramedics met the train on the platform. At least 11 people were injured with two in critical condition and authorities have not released a motive, but they confirmed that the suspect acted alone. Passengers described the event as sudden and frantic, noting that the attack had no warning and appeared random. British Transport Police say they are reviewing security footage and interviewing passengers as part of their investigation. The suspect was taken into custody at the station without incident and officials say there is no indication of a wider threat. But additional security patrols have been added to trains in the region as a precaution. I don't know what it is, why I don't, I don't get it. I guess if I got it, I guess if anybody, if we got it, we could end it, but I just unfortunately don't understand that motivation. I'm going to take us now to the island of Oahu, Hawaii. And police have actually opened a homicide investigation after a former FBI informant was found dead. And the circumstances are just very unclear and of course questionable. 55 year old Jonavan Monolem was reported missing after he left his home on a street in Kapolei on November 5 at around 7:13pm his family told authorities they had not heard from him since and they were concerned for his safety. On Saturday, the Honolulu Police Department issued a Crime Stoppers alert, asking for, you know, help locating him. But just one day earlier, late on Friday night, around 11:15pm Officers had already found a dead body in Waipu area on Oahu. By Sunday morning, the medical examiner was able to confirm that the body was monolim. The cause of death has not yet been released, and detectives with HPD's Homicide Division are now leading the investigation. Monolam's death draws particular attention because of his role as a key FBI informant in a major organized crime case. In 2009, he testified against two of his cousins, Ethan Mata or Mota and Rodney Joseph Jr. And those two were charged with racketeering, murder, extortion, armed robbery and illegal gambling linked to the violent struggle for control of gambling operations on Oahu. Monolin began cooperating with the FBI in 2004 after agents raided his home and informed him that he was under investigation for meth distribution. He later secretly recorded a conversation with Moda in which Moda said, quote, unquote, you need to put blood on the table, meaning someone had to be killed to intimidate rivals. And both cousins were ultimately convicted. And because of the violent history tied to the case and the fact that Monalim testified against his own family, his death now raises questions about motive, timing and whether it was connected to his past. But for now, no cause of death has actually been confirmed and police have not stated whether foul play is suspected. But they're asking for anyone with information to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 808-955-8300, so hopefully they get more information on that. For sure. We're going to come all the way back to Livingston Parish, Louisiana, where a 33 year old man from Walker has been arrested in a case that investigators are describing as one of the most disturbing child exploitation investigations they've ever handled. The suspect is Cameron Broussard, and he's now facing dozens of felony charges involving a child under the age of 13. The investigation began when the national center for Missing and Exploited Children sent a cyber tip to Louisiana authorities alerting them to images and videos believed to be child sexual abuse material linked to an online account in Broussard's name. The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, working with the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, opened a case as investigators began reviewing digital evidence. They discovered a local victim under the age of 13. They now say that Broussard did not only possess child abuse material, he also recorded a minor in Livingston Parish without their knowledge and this led to additional charges of video voyeurism. So in total, Broussard is charged with 50. I got goosebumps as I said that. It's horrible. 50 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material involving a victim under the age of 13 and eight counts of video voyeurism where the victim is under the age of 13.

At the time the warrants were issued, Broussard was temporarily working in Nederland, Texas. Authorities located him, arrested him and transported him back to the Livingston Parish Detention Center. Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard confirmed that the case remains active and investigators are continuing to analyze devices, files, cloud accounts and communications to determine whether additional victims exist. Detectives have not ruled out the possibility of further charges. No sentencing information has been released yet as this case is still in the pre trial phase and there has been no plea entered at this time. The Sheriff's office has encouraged anyone with information related to this case or any concerns about potential additional victims to please contact investigators directly or reach out through anonymous Crime Stoppers channels. And as this investigation is ongoing and as more forensic analysis is completed, the scope of what took place may expand and obviously they'll get a better grip, an understanding of the depth of this and you know, Sheriff Jason Ard is really working wonders with getting these horrible people off the streets. Him and Chris Hansen are doing some great, great work and his Internet Crimes Against Children task force is doing a great job and we thank, thank Sheriff Ard for that for sure. I guess I'm going to mix it up a little bit now with a story coming out of Harris County, Texas. So this happened in northwest Harris County, Texas along FM529 near Glenn Chase. And just after 8am on Saturday, November 8, a red Ford F150 was driving eastbound with when the people inside the truck got into a road rage confrontation with another driver. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the trouble began when the suspect's vehicle cut off the F150 and the people in the truck honked their horn and that was it. It was just a horn honk, but instead of letting it go, the other driver became enraged. The Suspect, identified as 33 year old Franklin Alvarado, pulled his vehicle in front of the F150 and slammed on the brakes, forcing both vehicles to stop in the roadway. Alvarado got out of his car, went to the truck and pulled out a shotgun. As the driver of the F150 drove away, Alvarado fired multiple shots at the truck and inside the F150 were three people. Of course, the driver, a front passenger, and a 41 year old woman riding in the back seat. One of the shotgun blasts hit the truck and fragments struck the woman in the back of the head. She survived and was taken to the hospital in stable condition with non life threatening injuries. Thank goodness. After the shooting, Alvarado fled, but investigators quickly located his vehicle nearby and thank goodness, were able to detain him and he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of deadly conduct, both third degree felonies. Now detectives are still reviewing evidence, including ballistic evidence and possible video, to finalize the case. And the sheriff emphasized how quickly something as simple as a horn honk can escalate when someone is willing to go to violence. I've got to tell y' all a quick story Sunday. Sophia, our second oldest and I went to the Merry Market in Gonzales, and of course we had to stop and get a coffee along the way. That's like one of my favorite things to do is stop and get a coffee. And so we went to, we were headed to the Starbucks in Walker, and we were at the light going across Florida, and it literally, I promise you, it had literally just turned green. And I like, literally took my foot off the brake and started to turn and the car behind me was a white suv. She started honking at me and I was like, what is her problem? And so I just kept on going. I mean, you can honk at me all you want. So I went and took the short drive down Florida to turn right into the Starbucks parking lot. And so did that woman. And for a split second I was thinking, oh my gosh, like, what is she gonna do something? Like, is she like, I mean, are we really about, is she really about to come and say something to me? And so she got in the line behind me in Starbucks and I, Sophie and I had ordered, you know, our coffees. And as we were sitting in line, I asked Sophie, I was like, should I, you know, Starbucks always has this thing like pay it forward or kind of like pay it backwards or whatever. Like, I've gone to Starbucks a couple of times over the years, and when I get to the window, the person at the window will tell me, the car in front of you paid for your coffee. And, you know, and, and then I'll usually say, okay, well, I want to pay for the car behind me and pay it forward. And I thought, you know, like, this woman must be having a really bad day. I should probably like, do something sweet for her and pay it forward. But my intention really was just to say, like, don't be a bitch. Sorry, but don't you don't. I mean, there was no reason for her to honk the horn at me. And I was like, my intention wasn't really that sweet. It was more like, I'm gonna do this kind thing for you, even though you were, you know, a jerk. But I didn't end up doing it because it wasn't coming from a good place. But it could have, obviously, based on this last Houston story, it could have escalated very quickly. Her honking the horn at me. Who knows what frame of mind she was in. So kind of glad I didn't do what, you know, that idea. But anyway, go mix it up a little bit with this next story. We're going to Phoenix and we have a 46 year old man, Zamnaka Sala. And from the months of September through November of 2023, he targeted Christian churches across several states. He traveled to congregations in California, Arizona and Colorado. And each time he brought a black backpack with him. But the black backpacks were not random. They were staged to look like bombs. At two of the three churches, Sala left the backpacks behind as a hoax bomb threat, intending to disrupt worship and frighten the congregations. At one church in California, he even strapped a backpack to the back of a toilet, making it appear deliberate and ready to detonate. At two other churches, security stopped him before he could leave the bags, even though the backpacks did not contain explosives. Investigators later discovered that Saleh did have real bomb making components stored in a storage unit. And federal prosecutors said that this showed his plan was not just a prank. They believed he was progressing towards building a real device and intended to eventually bomb a church. So Salah was arrested and and taken to trial in the Eastern District of California. And during the trial, court documents showed that he expressed anti American and extremist views, including getting into an argument with a neighbor, wearing a hat with the American flag. And in a storage unit, investigators found an anti Semitic message written in Kurdish along with a reference to the prophet Muhammad. The trial lasted 11 days. It happened in April and the grant the federal jury found him guilty. During sentencing, federal prosecutors said Saleh's actions were meant to intimidate and threaten people because of their religious belief beliefs. They emphasized that if authorities had not stopped him, the plan could have resulted in many deaths. And so now Salah has been sentenced to six years in federal prison. And the dog said the case sends a clear message. And this is the message people of any faith in the United States have The right to worship without fear of violence. And anyone who tries to threaten that right will face the full force of federal law. So that goes back to my thank you for our veterans, for fighting for those rights. I really hope in those six years he learns and he's educated and reformed or whatevered to where when he gets out. Six years just doesn't seem long enough because of the terror and the views. But hopefully it is and hopefully he gets out and he does some good.

It's time for family matters.

In Elkhart, Indiana, a six year old boy named Justin Elmore died after what, what prosecutors say was weeks and possibly months of abuse inside his own home. On Aug. 3, emergency responders were called to the family's home for an unresponsive child. The 911 caller claimed that Justin had, quote, unquote, hit himself. But when doctors examined him, it was immediately clear that the injuries told a very different story. Justin had a traumatic brain injury, a punctured lung, and numerous bruises and abrasions across his body. These were definitely not self inflicted and police opened a criminal investigation. Investigators learned that Justin was being regularly disciplined by his father. And his father was 29 year old Franklin Elmore Jr. And his stepmother, 27 year old Cheyenne Elmore. The child was forced into punishing physical exercises and was routinely beaten with a belt or an open hand. According to prosecutors, on the day that Justin died, Franklin attacked him inside his playroom. Franklin Elmore was arrested and charged with murder. His wife Cheyenne was also charged in the death. She has pleaded not guilty and is still awaiting trial. Franklin, however, recently pleaded guilty. And during the hearing, his attorney asked, did you knowingly kill another human being? And Franklin answered, yes, sir. He then admitted he beat his son. And he added, I did not mean it, but acknowledged his actions caused Justin's death. And Franklin Elmore is currently awaiting sentencing. And Cheyenne, the stepmom's case is pending.

You know, here's a question I bet you never really even thought about. What's the real cornerstone of your health, the one thing that actually shapes your energy, your mood, and even how well you sleep at night. Most people think it's exercise or diet alone, but the truth is it all starts right there in your gut. I've been reading about this lately, and it turns out scientists now openly say your gut is the foundation of everything from digestion and weight management to energy focus, even longevity. But here's the problem. As we age, the beneficial bacteria in our gut starts to deplete. That's when we start feeling run down. Bloated or just not ourselves. And I'm looking at Woody's handy dandy chart and the death penalty does exist in Indiana. However, I think since he pled guilty, he's getting a deal and that will not happen. Cheyenne, on the other hand, probably feels like she has a better case. I don't know, I'm not an attorney, but that's a hard one. You know, Woody gave me these stories to talk about. Leah Marie sends them to him and he sends them to me and I just basically tell the stories that I get. I do not go out and find my own stories of things that are interesting to me. So we're just going with the flow here. You know, WL grew up loving, loving Legos. And part of the process with WL and Legos was I have these cutest pictures. I would take him to Target every year right before Black Friday and I would have him go through the Lego, well, go through the toy section and, and pick out like stand next to or carry like pick up a box of what held whatever he was asking for. So I would take a picture of him holding his wish list essentially and those pictures come up in my time hop and they are just so darn cute. And I always think about when I did that because we didn't have like the Seer's Wish book, remember that? So much but that was my way of being able to have that experience with him. And so he enjoyed legos so very much. But we did it together, like we would always do the LEGO sets together. It was like mommy and son time. And I loved it. And right now he is actually working on building a computer, his first computer. I cannot wait to see how well he does with that. Mommy is not getting involved in building of the computer. That is definitely all him. He sourced all of the information, he found out exactly what he needed, what parts to go in it and what, you know, all the, all of the RAM and the, all of it. The fan, number of fans, I don't know. I just ordered the stuff. So I'm really, really, really excited to see what this computer looks like because he might be building me one next. Because when I edit, I have a really, really good desktop that's fast, it's easy to edit on, and I love it so very much. But having a computer that my son built would be completely amazing. But I said all of that to say that we have a 28 year old man in Texas who went on a spree of stealing Legos. So police in Watauga, Texas say that a 28 year old male is the center of a widespread retail theft ring targeting LEGO products across multiple cities in Texas and Oklahoma. The name of the man, the 28 year old man is Winston Love. And he was arrested on Friday after officers tracked him to a home where he had been staying. Earlier that day, Love had attempted to leave a Target store in Watauga with about thirteen hundred dollars worth of LEGO sets without paying. And a store employee reported the theft, which led police to locate him. Now let me tell you a little bit about these LEGO sets. These LEGO sets are not like they were back in even five years ago. Five years ago you could still tell a LEGO set from a LEGO set. But now they have created these sets that once you put the pieces together, it looks like just a plastic object, but the object is the exact, exact shape. It doesn't have that cubic matrix look to it. They look fluid and they look like authentic, if that could be, you know, used. It doesn't look like a LEGO set. It's amazing what they do. And those pieces or those sets are so darn expensive. So very easily he could literally be walking out the store with three sets. And you know, it's not like back in the day when W.L. and I would go look at sets and they might have been 19 or $20 apiece. You know, they do still have those, but, you know, I don't know. I don't know what the man was getting, but thirteen hundred dollars worth of Lego sets. The police located him, and when officers arrived, Love refused at first to come outside, which resulted in a brief standoff. And according to Watauga Police Chief Jim Lewis, officers were able to negotiate with Love, and he eventually surrendered peacefully. Police obtained and executed a search warrant at the residence as part of a larger investigation into a regional theft ring involving tens of thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise, and most of it was Lego sets. Chief Lewis said investigators have linked Love to at least 23 thefts in the Watauga area in just the past two months, and more than 80 additional incidents are being tracked across North Texas and Oklahoma. At the time of his arrest, Love had eight outstanding felony warrants, and police say he has been arrested or is warranted for similar thefts in Dallas, Irving, Plano, Flower Mound, Ulysses, Fort Worth, Louisville or, Louisville, Mansfield, Arlington, Frisco, and additional locations. Chief Lewis described Love's shoplifting behavior as incredibly brazen, explaining that surveillance footage shows him walking through stores, picking out merchandise, loading up Lego sets and walking out the door as though daring anyone to intervene. And although the stolen product may seem unusual, police note that Lego sets resell quickly and at nearly full retail value on online marketplaces, making them a profitable item for thieves and for fences. And fences are people who buy and resell stolen goods. I didn't know that. In a similar case in California last month, authorities arrested a fence who dealt almost exclusively in stolen Lego. Love is currently being held in Tarrant County Jail on a state felony theft charge. His other outstanding warrants involve theft charges in multiple counties. And investigators say they are continuing to follow leads and additional arrests are possible as the case expands. And I know exactly what Woody would say if he were here about the thefts. My way through college in retail and I love retail so very much. I love, like, especially this time of year, the energy. The shop is just amazing. The decorations, helping people find gifts. It's just an amazing. I love it so very much. But even back then we had smashing. I guess it wouldn't be a smashing grabs because nothing was being smashed. But like, for example, at Dillard's, they would have rounders, you know, the round racks that filled with merchandise. And people would literally just run in the store, grab, pull out their arms as far as they could, grab what was on the rack and walk out. And, you know, I mean, you're talking, this was 30 years ago. They were brazen then. And we Were told, don't chase them, just call mall security. You know, you never ever chase. You never interact. You never try to stop them. Like, just let it go. And when I was the manager of the Gap, we had a few times when people would attempt to. But we always had, like, our greeters at the door. And, you know, when people go into stores and they have, obviously it's part of customer service, like having that greeter at the door, someone to say hi to you, welcome you to the store, obviously that's really good customer service. But they're really actually there for theft prevention. Back then, I was taught by the security that thief is less likely to. To steal from you if they know that you saw them. If you. They know that you look them in the eyes and greeted them. If you've asked to assist them in something and you have offered whatever and they know that you have their. Your eyes on them, it lowers their ability to do any sort of theft. Now, obviously, the ones that run in, grab merchandise off of a table and run out, that's a completely different thief. I'm just speaking as to, like, what my experience was in retail. And when I go to stores today, I, you know, I realize what those people are there to do. And of course, they're there to offer great customer service as well. But it is a known theft deterrent. Anyway, I think that is going to be my last story for the day. I feel like I'm just rambling. I'm not used to all of this talking and the people that reach out and say, I can't listen anymore. Woody constantly interrupts cindy, I can't listen. He's rude to Cindy. I've debated saying this, truly, I have debated saying this because I don't think it's going to come out to the way I mean it. But when Woody and I record together, we are so darn busy that a lot of the days when we record together, that is our time together. That's our, like, quality time. And that's like, one of the most joyous times of the day for me. So I am so sorry that it affects people so much that you cannot listen to us anymore. And I know I'm crying sometimes and the stories are very sad and we're talking about true crime, and it is sad. I promise you, I wouldn't be sitting behind this mic if that was the case. I just want you to know that. So with that, I am going to say goodbye and thank you so much for listening to me. Today on True crime time for November 12, 2025. And it will just be me tomorrow. And. And I hope you join me. I would say peace, but that's Woody's thing. So I will say later. Later, Gator.

If you're a podcast host, listen up. This one's for you. My name is Allie Jackson. I'm the host of Finding Mr. Height, a dating and relationship podcast that I've been doing for four years now, sharing my positive and practical approach to dating that's built on my own life experience. Experience. And I wanted to share another experience that I've had, my secret behind monetizing my show. It's called Red Circle. And I was just telling my colleague about how much I love their platform. With Red Circle, not only am I getting a seamless hosting experience, but I also love the support I receive in ad sales. It's not just typical ad sales either. It's targeted opportunities based on my show and my life. And the platform is super simple. You just set your preferences and Red Circle matches you with sponsors that align with your show. You can vet every opportunity, and their platform gives you great analytics. More recently, too, my Red Circle team has brought me opportunities outside of my podcast on social media to really augment the podcast partnerships. Bring them full circle. I just can't recommend them enough. If you want to give it a try, go to redcircle.com to get your free trial. That's redcircle.com for a free trial.
In this episode of True Crime Time For, Cindy Overton sits in solo as her husband and usual co-host, Woody Overton, is away on important and secretive business. Despite Woody’s absence, Cindy guides listeners through a range of both international and domestic crime stories—from counterfeit pharmaceutical rings and rampant human trafficking to the harrowing abuse of a child and the strangely lucrative world of LEGO theft. The tone throughout is conversational and empathetic, with Cindy’s characteristic honesty, personal reflections, and some moments of dark levity.
