Woody Overton
Hello everybody. Welcome to this episode of True Crime. Time for Monday, September 22, 2025. And I'm Woody Overton.
Cindy Overton
I'm Cindy Overton.
Woody Overton
I got it. Let's do it prime time, y'. All. Go check out the latest episode of Hashtag Just for Bradley and Hashtag Just for AO came out Saturday. And lots of good stuff. Keep calling your tips and it's almost at the Boiling point. It's crazy. So then of course hashtag Justin Barber and hashtag Just for Haley is coming. So that being said, we have some tragic news out of North Koduras, Pennsylvania and you know, all give some, some give all. And the they have a suspected stalker who's armed with a rifle and he hit his ex girlfriend's home in the rolling farmlands of southern Pennsylvania. And when a cop showed up, he ambushed them. They came to arrest him and he killed three of them. So police arrived at the scene around 2:10pm this was on Wednesday. And y', all, I'm sorry we missed the story. The and noticed the door to the home was unlocked even though the ex girlfriend and her mom had locked it before they left the property for their safety because the freight dude was coming over. So they opened the door and I'm immediately fired upon by suspect 24 year old Matthew James Ruth was carrying an AR style rifle with a suppressor and this according to the York County District Attorney Tim Barker. He said the suspect fired multiple rounds at the four officers at the door and killed three of them. A gunfight you know, naturally then ensued between Ruth and the two remaining officers outside. Ruth wounded a sheriff's deputy before police shot shot him dead. Now Detective Sergeant Cody Becker, Detective Mark Barker and Detective Isaiah Emenheiser were the officers who were killed and they all worked for the Northern York County Regional Police Department. He said each of these men represent the best of policing. They serve professionalism, dedication and courage. They were leaders within our agency committed to protecting this community and standing beside their fellow officers as according to Chief Dave Lash. And one of the wounded officers also belongs to the Northern York Department and they haven't released his name yet. But the investigators came in and found the ex girlfriend's dog had been shot dead also in the basement. So neighboring department stepped in and you know, to help kind of naturally get that many people killed, especially all your detectives. And they helped lighten the workload. So shout out for them doing that. So I'll tell you how it happened. The violence happened Wednesday afternoon as Officer Salt Ruth, who they believed had been at the property the night before and a woman he briefly dated lived there. Her mother called the cops on Tuesday evening after she saw him wearing the guy and he was wearing a camouflage looking and looking into the home with binoculars. So he studied him from afar. Also spoke with the daughter who had a photo from a trail camera showing someone carrying a rifle outside and aiming at scope at the house. According to the police affidavit. Ruth eluded police that night, and the cops came back the next day looking for him again with misdemeanor warrants for his arrest for the stalker, et cetera. The young woman's car had been set on fire in August, and she said she suspected same dude. Ruth did it. Now, investigators went to Ruth's homes twice, which is In Hanover, about 10 miles from where the officers were killed. And one of the neighbors, Rose Miller, said they first arrived about noon and then again around 5pm and they left around midnight with bags of potential evidence. And Melissa, she didn't. Didn't know Ruth well, but remembered him working on one Boy Scout fundraisers. So then the community is mourning. They said we need to do better as a society. According to the governor, Josh Shapiro, we need to help the people who think that picking up a gun, picking up a weapon is the answer to resolving disputes. They said it's one of the deadliest days in a state's history for law enforcement, or at least a century, matching the toll from the day in 2009 when three officers were ambushed by a domestic violence suspect who was wearing a bulletproof vest. And, you know, of course, the flags have been lowered to half staff and all that. I don't know. It's horrible. It's a tragedy. They're doing their job. And obviously this guy had it on his mind to kill because he broke in when they weren't there, murders the dog and sets up and waits on the cops.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And there you have it.
Cindy Overton
And then. And they were being, I'm assuming, precautious because they had three of them report to. You know what I mean? They didn't go in one and call for backup. Like they went.
Woody Overton
They went looking for it. Yep. And then. But you never know what's waiting behind the door.
Cindy Overton
No.
Woody Overton
So there you have it. I'm rest in peace and prayers for all the families and the victims of the officers and I don't know.
Cindy Overton
And the law enforcement, like you, always.
Woody Overton
The whole community.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Everybody that knew and loved them.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So there you go. Wow.
Cindy Overton
Well.
Woody Overton
It'S time for family matters.
Cindy Overton
I have a story out of Milwaukee, and it is in the middle of Town. It's 27th street in Silver Spring, and there's a storage unit there.
Woody Overton
All right.
Cindy Overton
And around 1:30 in the morning on September 16th, there was a 911 call that came in from a neighbor that lived very close to that storage facility. And there was an unmistakable sound of a crying child in one of the storage rooms. In the storage room. They went to it was locked. So that's when they called 91 1. And when police and fire crews arrived, they discovered that, you know, how like you hear sounds sometimes, like we heard that goat the other day and it sounded like a screaming woman. So they were able to, you know, determined that the neighbors. What the neighbor heard was actually a baby crying. And so inside the unit were six children ranging in age from between 2 months old to 9 years old. And the unit had, I mean this is a storage unit. So it had no running water, no electricity and nothing resembling like a safe place for anyone to live. There was a bucket inside that they used as a toilet. First responders managed to get the unit open and checked on each child and fortunately none of them had any injuries that required hospitalization. But of course they were removed from the storage unit immediately. Then investigators began piecing the situation together. And so neighbors told officers they had noticed a family coming and going from the facility at different times of day and night. And their behavior combined with the sound of crying was what ultimately drew attention and made the emergency like made people pay attention to have that call at 1:30 in the morning. So two adults, a 26 year old woman and a 33 year old man were arrested at the scene and they're now facing charges connected to child neglect with the Milwaukee County District Attorney's office and who's reviewing the case. And the six children are now in protective care and authorities continue to investigate how they ended up living in a storage unit.
Woody Overton
That's crazy. Yeah, I guess it's cheaper than a babysitter, but we're just going to lock you in. Just lock in with a bucket. Yeah, we'll come back and get you.
Cindy Overton
Later on with a tumor. A nine year old babysitting.
Woody Overton
Yeah. You know, come back and get you later on, right?
Cindy Overton
Yep.
Woody Overton
It's stupid.
Cindy Overton
I'll just be quiet.
Woody Overton
And what's the source? They go for $100 a month or something, $200 a month. I don't know. I don't get it. It's time for effed up professional. When you get hired on as a cop, the more I would say prestigious or the larger the agency, the harder the job is. The interview process. I mean you got to pass a physical training test. You have to. If you pass that, then you have to pass, you know, psych evaluation and drug tests and polygraph on, on a lot of them and all this thing you got to go before hiring boards and, and it's, you know, it's pretty selective. Deal. I used to be involved with. With state police. And we cut out a shit ton of people. But Baton Rouge City is the same way. The Baton Rouge City Police Department. Let me play a story. This is crazy. Hello, friends.
Elizabeth Vowell
Thanks for joining us here at 6. I'm Elizabeth Vowell. My partner Greg has the night off from the WABI team. A Baton Rouge police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested twice over the past 30 days for different issues. His first arrest was executed by the East Bat Rose Sheriff's Office. His second came from his own employer, brpd. Our chief investigator, Chris Nakamoto explains what the officer is accused of and why he won't be showing up for work anytime soon. Good evening, Chris.
Chris Nakamoto
Good evening, Liz. Baton Rouge police officer Joshua Gordon is a rookie fresh out of the academy for a year. Gordon has run into two separate run ins with law enforcement over the past 30 days. Beaming with pride and a smile from ear to ear, Baton Rouge police officer Joshua Gordon appeared eager to protect and serve after completing the 92nd Basic Training Academy, becoming one of the city's newest police officers in 2024. But less than a year into that new job, Gordon is in serious trouble. Arrested two different times while off duty. The WAFBI team obtained this incident report from the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office saying Gordon was at North Oak Hills Parkway and Masterson last month when he was accused of simple battery, resisting an officer, and disturbing the peace drunkenness. The report is vague, but Baton Rouge police spokesman L. Jean McNeely says the department placed Gordon on leave following that arrest.
Law Enforcement Expert
There's a certain standard when you become a law enforcement officer, right? You're on 24 hours a day. Even when you're off, you have a particular act or beholden upon yourself to act in a professional manner, regardless of whether you're on duty or not.
Chris Nakamoto
Weeks later, and while on paid administrative leave for that sheriff's office arrest, Gordon was arrested again, this time for DWI by his own employer. Baton Rouge police sources tell the WAFBI team he was involved in a crash near headquarters. He had a bad month.
Law Enforcement Expert
Yeah. I mean, it's unfortunate thing that has happened, but we're going to do our due diligence in looking into the aspects of those particular incidents.
Chris Nakamoto
Tonight, Gordon is sidelined from serving and protecting as two different investigations are underway to determine what will happen next. Once a disciplinary hearing is held, a decision will be made on what he gets to keep his job from there.
Law Enforcement Expert
If that officer decides to fight against or doesn't agree with, every type of disciplinary action has been taken they can then take it to civil service. And then from civil service civil service will have an investigation to an incident or hearing to where they speak with the officer and his attorney. And then the department comes with their attorney and interview all those persons that were part of that investigation. And then they make a decision on whether the disciplinary action was justly done.
Chris Nakamoto
Baton Rouge police internal affairs is investigating both of these arrests. Officer Gordon is currently being paid while those investigations play out. Public records Show he earned $54,000 last year for the WAFBI team.
Woody Overton
Nice. Right? I say the huh. And people don't know when cops get arrested. Of course they you know they have the same rights as everybody else. Due process to law. But then you also underneath the police officer bill rights. And they would have had to bring him in on the first one. He's drunk and then he's resisting an officer.
Cindy Overton
I know.
Woody Overton
What was he saying? Fuck you. I'm a cop.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And he's a rook. Right. And he's a rook. And you know say he his ass already in a crack for that. Then he gets into a vehicle crash right by Baton Rouge City. Right. About the woman's hospital.
Cindy Overton
Yes.
Woody Overton
And. And by on airline and he gets in a wreck and what the. How does he think it's going to end? But the sad thing is is because a civil service is involved will drag out forever. And he'll get an attorney. No he gonna beat the charges. The. The. He'll get the attorney and drag it out. Whatever they give him. This is not court system, not what the court gives. And whatever they say the probably going to fire him. Right. And I mean he's a rookie. Probably still in probation. But they're going to fire him and he's going to peel the fire and then whatever go back and forth. I don't think he has a leg to stand on.
Cindy Overton
I don't think he has.
Woody Overton
But he'll drag it out forever. If they find some attorney. He finds some attorney to take it. Actually the civil service hearings. Ridiculous.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And that's the longest. More than any murder trial I've ever done or rape case or whatever. The longest time amount of time I've ever spent on the stand is testifying against somebody in a civil service hearing.

Woody Overton
Just because it's just stupid.
Cindy Overton
So many rights and you have to make sure. I mean you have to make sure it's done thoroughly and all that.
Woody Overton
Plus except the polygraph and, and different things like that. But you know, a dude has no business being a cop and I don't know how he got in because Baton Rouge city, I'm telling you, they're, they're. I think besides the state police, they probably had the toughest onboarding process there is.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And. But they always seem to be in the news lately.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
For bad. So a lot of great people, you know, work there and we. I'm very good friends with a lot of them, you know, especially the people that are higher up. But the. It's a shame. And buck him. He didn't need to be wearing a badge anyway.
Cindy Overton
No.
Woody Overton
So what you got? It's time for worldwide crime.
Cindy Overton
Seems weird to call this a worldwide crime, but it is because it's in Canada and that's not United States. That's the world.
Woody Overton
That's right.
Cindy Overton
We're going to Manitoba, Canada and around 5 o' clock in the morning on September 15th, there was a. A call, a 911 call and there was something violent apparently happening at the. I'm going to try to say this. Opipen na Piwin. Cree Nation.
Woody Overton
Okay.
Cindy Overton
Also known as South Indian Lake and that's in northern Manitoba, Canada. A 19 year old man had been attacked inside a home and the weapon used was a machete. The assault was brutal enough that neighbors quickly contacted police and the rcmp.
Woody Overton
I'm guessing that is rural Canadian Mounted Police.
Cindy Overton
Okay. Officers from the South Indian Lake detachment were dispatched racing through the early morning darkness towards the scene. On their way, something caught their attention and it was a man walking along the road matching the description of the possible suspect. So they slowed down and they, you know, tried to talk to him. Kind of like what you would do rolling through the streets, you know. Hey, what's up? What you doing man? And the guy with one shoe on, like that's not your. But you know.
Woody Overton
Oh, you know what I'm gonna say. I didn't tell you this earlier because I think you're already asleep, but the Robert Ardon who died last night. So y'. All. Robert was one of my first partners and detectives. We. He was one of my first uniform patrol supervisors. We went on a cruise together. You know, his kids and friends of mine and. And son in law Jeff Fowler, friends of mine. What a wonderful, wonderful cop. The. If you ever any of my lives, some of the jokes I tell on the stage are straight from him. He was the best. He got admitted to the hospital the other night for problems, and then just within a couple days, they had him on hospice and couldn't figure it out. So rest in peace. I'm sorry. When she started telling one, one she joke, it made me pop my head. So rest in peace, Robert. I love you, bro.
Cindy Overton
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, baby. Well, so they tried to communicate, you know, just kind of, hey, what's up? And he bolted.
Woody Overton
Right.
Cindy Overton
And so they got out of their car and there was. They were chasing him on foot and apparently he was really fast. But someone caught up with him and he was taken into custody. Back at the house where the incident occurred, officers found a young victim suffering from serious injuries. And the victim was rushed first to the local nursing station for emergency treatment. I mean, I guess they're up there Canada. It's not like there's hospitals everywhere. I mean, I've never been up there, but I'm assuming that there's a lot.
Woody Overton
Of rural areas in Canada just like everywhere else.
Cindy Overton
Yeah. But it was quickly clear that his condition was. Was too severe for such a small clinic. And they had to take him by ambulance further in and then by helicopter to where he needed to go. And he was flown out of South Indian Lake and he went to Winnipeg and there his. He got the level of care that he needed. But the man is now arrested and facing multiple charges and including aggravated assault and two counts of failing to comply with the undertaking. And there's also evidence that he's had previous court orders against him that he's already broken.
Woody Overton
Yeah.
Cindy Overton
So the RCMP and South Indian Lake are continuing their investigation, trying to piece together what led to the machete attack and seeing if anyone else played a role in it.
Woody Overton
Well, again, do what they got to do.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And tell you what, rc, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police started way back in like gold rush times and that, like the Chilicute Pass and all these people. It was the quickest way to get over to wherever they're going in the Yukon to get gold. And they had a check station at the top. If you didn't have enough supplies, they turned you back clowning thing because you're going to freeze to death or die before spring. Yeah, but they, I met some of them throughout my career. They're like the Texas Rangers.
Cindy Overton
Exactly what I was going to ask you fat asses.
Woody Overton
Yeah, they don't play. But that's, that's really an investigative agency. But that when, when a lot of Canada is really rural and makes me want to go hunting and. But the, you know, they handle all that.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So. But. So, all right, let's talk about Disney World and the areas close to it, like Lake Buena Vista, Florida. You know, I used to live right there.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And you frequent a Disney World often? Recent as last year. Well, they got a restaurant called the Paddlefish.
Cindy Overton
Okay.
Woody Overton
All right. It's made up to be like a paddle boat, like on the Mississippi. Rubber paddleboat. Yeah. Right. Well, you know, evidently they're pretty busy and they make some good money every night because. Well, just let me. Let me. Let me tell you about it. Then. I'll tell you about it because this is really bizarre. Y' all. Check it out.
Elizabeth Vowell
The Sagoski, Orange county deputies are looking for this man. They believe he swam up to a Disney Springs restaurant last night in a wetsuit and robbed it for thousands of. Of dollars. Channel 9 Sick Pan Petonis working this exclusive for us. He's live outside of Disney Springs. Nick, that suspect still on the run?
Nick Nap
It's not where he. It's not clear where he got in and out of the water from. It could have been right here. Frankly, that is the Paddlefish restaurant behind us, which was a crime scene. At midnight, the Paddlefish restaurant prepared to open as normal Monday, hours after deputies say this man swam up to the replica steamboat, stripped off his wetsuit, and robbed the restaurant of at least $10,000 in cash. A heavily redacted report showing it happened just after midnight, after the restaurant closed and the manager was counting money to put into the safe. Investigators said after the man spray painted the security camera, he forced two employees to get into the corner of the room and close their eyes. The robbery taking about two minutes before the man left and the employees called 911. Investigators believe the man, who was described as wearing clothes and a beanie by the employees, put his scuba gear on, got back into the water and swam off. But to where? They don't know. The investigation still active. Nobody was hurt in this robbery. Investigators are still working this. It's still active. And both the owner of the restaurant and Disney spokespeople are referring all questions to them. Live in Lake Buena Vista. Nick Nap and Tony.
Woody Overton
That crazy. Never could have dreamed. Now, I guess if I was going to be a robber, that'd be a cool way to do it. I mean, this dude came paired. He's dressed. Y' all couldn't see the footage. He's dressed head to toe, blacked out, black goggles. And they actually have a picture of him spray painting the security camera seat Scuba tanks up. Now it's on the Disney property.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And so they got Disney police. And then the regular sheriff's offset response swims up, gets on board, takes off a scuba tank, sprays the camera, goes in. And they've redacted a lot out of port. Probably Disney made them do that. But they said he got between 10 and $20,000 and then put his tank on and swim back away. It's not like it's in the fucking ocean. No, it's just a big lake.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
And swam away.
Cindy Overton
There's got to be camera somewhere that. I mean, I guess he spray painted the other camera.
Woody Overton
I'm pretty sure if he's smart enough to come in with a scuba tank and spray paint the cameras, he's smart enough to scout out, make sure nobody has any doorbell ring. I mean, it's on Disney.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
If I'd have done it, I'd avoid the other cameras too.
Cindy Overton
Yeah, you would.
Woody Overton
Catch me on some assholes camera two miles down the lake where I'm getting out of the water.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
I mean, you got to take oxygen. He can go for easy for an hour and shallow water.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Probably hour and a half.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Crazy.
Cindy Overton
That is stealthy.
Woody Overton
James Bond.
Cindy Overton
That is so.
Woody Overton
But prison is full of dummies. Hard to catch a smart way.
Cindy Overton
Well, so far he's. So far he's pretty smart.
Woody Overton
I might be the inside job.
Cindy Overton
I was literally thinking that.
Woody Overton
Yeah. How do you know when they. They close? I mean, you know when they close, where the money is, where the cameras are that you brought. That's why they redact a lot of. Yeah, you bring the spray paint and you go in and you know they're going to have. Now most restaurants deal in credit cards, right. So. But he gets 10 to $20,000 cash. So they might open. They probably did a hundred thousand dollars that night. Yeah, I mean, the place is huge, but the. That's everything. So expensive down there.
Cindy Overton
Yeah, it is.
Woody Overton
Anyway, there you have it. Thought I'd try to lighten it up for a second. Scuba Steve making off with the bounty.
Cindy Overton
So you said that prisons are full of dummies, right?
Woody Overton
Like 98.
Cindy Overton
Do you think that could go for the people that work in the prison?
Woody Overton
Yes. I say 90%, but I don't want to offend some of my friends. Let me tell you something. Some of the people I work with, this correction officer and every correctional officer could tell you this. We're worse than the inmates. They're there to draw a check and to do their 20 years and be Done don't give a. Everything can be happening around them. Keep my head down, I'm gonna eat my lunch and I ain't count. Oh yeah, you got to do account. Yeah. They're going to do minimum effort for maximum retirement.
Cindy Overton
Well we've.
Woody Overton
And that's how 90% of all dope gets into prisons.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
Or now cell phones. We didn't have cell phones when I was cruxhouse.
Cindy Overton
Yeah, well like when those. The four or five guys escaped from New Orleans, they hadn't done a count in like several hours. I mean they weren't even doing that. Well, I'm going to. This is a.
Woody Overton
It's time for effort of professional lives.
Cindy Overton
So I'm going to tell you about something that happened at Lee Correctional Institution in South Carolina in early this month. They arrested 36 year old Sharon Elizabeth Smith and she was a canteen manager at the prison and authorities say canteen.
Woody Overton
Yallis or another word for the inmate store where they get all those zoos and used to be smokes back in the day that was the currency but the chips and the cold drinks and they're lucky enough to have somebody put some money on their books. They get canteen and you can lose cantina's privacy. Really, it's not a. It's not a right. They get the board, you get a write up local write up. They take canteen for 30 days. Then you just gotta eat prison shut.
Cindy Overton
Okay, well, she tried to smuggle in about $2500 worth of. Couldn't believe it when I read this. I would think if I was in prison I would probably want to have all the things that you were listed. Maybe some cigarettes, maybe some dope if I was a doper, maybe a phone like another fresh pair of underwear, I don't know. But she was smuggling in grills. You know those teeth covers?
Woody Overton
Really? Yeah.
Cindy Overton
And they're custom metal dental jewelry worn over the teeth.
Woody Overton
That's weird.
Cindy Overton
The discovery was made during a search of her vehicle while she was on prison property. And Smith was immediately terminated from her job and charged with criminal conspiracy. I'm guessing she's probably smuggled in other things before and they had their sights on her.
Woody Overton
I'm sure.
Cindy Overton
So the South Carolina Department of Corrections has not publicly said who the grills were meant for and how the scheme came to light. But investigators made clear that bringing in such items is a serious breach in prison. Grills aren't just decorative. They can be reshaped into sharp metal pieces hidden to transport drugs and other contraband or used as a high value Trade item in the inmate economy fueling extortion and violence. And they also mark gang affiliation or status which increases the risk of fights. As for Smith, officials haven't released whether she admitted why she did it or not. But staff members are usually in cases like this people are paid off somehow. But with the inmates outside contacts. I mean I'm telling you stuff that you already know. Smuggling schemes can involve cash, promises of protection or threats. And the amount depends on the rarity and demand for the contraband.
Woody Overton
It's law. Supply and demand. Always happen, always will.
Elizabeth Vowell

People get arrested here. We're not that far from Angola and people get arrested and go almost monthly. And the problem is prison are full of dummies. They're also full of snitches who love to get favor of a correctional officer. But hey Joe blows. You know sergeant, such. Such is bringing in a cell phone. Right. So any, anything inside is. Is worth like 10 times like a joint. If it's worth $2 on the street, it's worth $20 inside then in because you got to get it in. Right. And this anything could be contraband to anything that's not listed in the rulebook. Yeah, but it's everything basically. So I don't know.
Cindy Overton
Well, she's probably gonna be in prison.
Woody Overton
Yeah, I doubt it. She get probation or whatever the. Who knows. It's time for beast mode. Not really a beast mode but kind of a beast made. How about just a dumb ass female mode. And in what do you think you know election times we to do political and all that. We're going to Santa Ana, California and they had a lady out there. What do you think are some of the major crimes around election time?
Cindy Overton
Stealing signs, painting over people's signs.
Woody Overton
Obviously the. I mean that goes on. Obviously that's not like they're not going to put another sign up. But what else like directly relates to elections?
Cindy Overton
Oh like stealing like the ballot box plate. Like messing with the voting system like the ballot.
Woody Overton
I don't know messing with it and how stealing them, changing them about illegal registering to vote.
Cindy Overton
That's. Yeah.
Woody Overton
All right, so we're going to go to California. And this is the beast mode because of this. And I hate to keep playing for y', all, but this is funny.
Nick Nap
As Ms. Yorks was released on her own recognizance, she's never been in trouble with the law before.
Elizabeth Vowell
The Costa Mesa woman charged with five felonies for registering her dog, Maya Jean and voting for the dog in two elections was in court for the first time. 62 year old Laura Yoricks did not enter a plea, but said in a statement that her intent was to improve the voting system.
Nick Nap
Laura Yorick sincerely regrets her unwise attempt to expose flaws in our state voting system, intending to improve it by demonstrating that even a dog can be registered to vote.
Elizabeth Vowell
The case is causing concern at the county level. You don't register on purpose, your dog or your cat or your horse or anything else. You don't do that on purpose. To mock the system. Two members of the Board of Supervisors pushed for an emergency motion which ultimately failed to have the voter rolls examined.
Nick Nap
So that we can find out from the registrar what he is going to do to stop what you said, Mr. Chairman, and that's dogs and cats from being enlisted on the rolls.
Elizabeth Vowell
Supervisor Janet Wynn wants to examine the county's dog license records to expose potential illegal voters. So if we can cross cross reference.
Cindy Overton
The addresses and the names to see is there potential.
Woody Overton
You got to pay somebody to do.
Cindy Overton
That, you know, that could be suspicious. And then we can then say wait a minute, let's flag this.
Elizabeth Vowell
Bob Page is the Registrar of Voters.
Woody Overton
We take voter fraud very serious. So when I received a report in October that there may have been a fictitious person who was registered to vote and had voted and attempted to vote in two elections, we referred that immediately to the district attorney to investigate and he ultimately filed charges.
Elizabeth Vowell
Since the presidential election last fall, 175,000 names have been purged from Orange County's voter file. Else they moved, they died, they were ineligible to vote. So I, I don't support what I.
Cindy Overton
Think is an anti democratic way to.
Elizabeth Vowell
Try to test our system and people should be held accountable for that.
Woody Overton
Now the out of here. This lady is a well positioned the suspect. The Montgomery county looks like any other.
Nick Nap
Kid.
Woody Overton
Very well put together. 64 years old. Like get a hobby.
Cindy Overton
That is your hobby.
Woody Overton
The, the you registered your dog to vote. In several elections they stopped short of saying that they took the vote because they had to have a recount. But obviously they took the vote. And she's pleading to all these charges but her excuse is I want to show the flaws in the system. Well, you did that.
Cindy Overton
She did.
Woody Overton
But then the very process that you have to get a DA's investigator who could be out investigating Haley's case. Right. Or all these other cases where they have charged in and shit's up. The very thought that you have to go check your. How many people have dogs? That. Why in the am I going to use my registered dog? I mean the. Just make up a name that lives at your address. But you got to hire somebody to go out there and look up every dog and cat and horse in. In the county and cross reference against the rolls. Come on, man. I know that's just outrageously stupid. And. And I hope they. I hope that goes to prison just for the bit today we got Scuba Steve and unfortunately about the cops being killed in the beginning. Scuba Steve. And then you know, Machete and this lady registering her dogs and the. I don't know.
Cindy Overton
Well, that's why I was thrown off with your question because you had beast mode. So I was like, well maybe it's something that a dog is destroying signs like peeing on them. Like I was like what are you like where are you going with this?
Woody Overton
Well, it's a beast. My owner, I guess.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
But two Foo foo or whatever the dog's name was. Who knows. The. I don't know. It's just crazy craziness. Craziness. Craziness. Let's see. I got one more try to end this on a light note. Today it's time for worldwide crime. I'm gonna one up you. We're going back to Canada.
Cindy Overton
Okay.
Woody Overton
All right. To Calgary, Canada. And 46 year old Canadian man. Here we go. The question again, if you can guess what he did. Oh gosh. The. And it's not like really that serious. I mean he didn't murder anybody or anything like that. The. I'll tell you what. I'll give you the crime and you see if you can guess what he did. How about that? He said he's been charged with one count breaking and entering with intent to commit criminal harassment, mischief to property and over 5,000. Over $5,000. And two counts to disobey in a court order. So what did he do?
Cindy Overton
I have no idea. I broke into a house naked.
Woody Overton
That's close. How did he break into the house?
Cindy Overton
Through a window. The doggy door.
Woody Overton
Nope, they don't have. So the 46 year old Canadian man has been charged after police said he tunneled.
Cindy Overton
I was gonna say shot through a cannon. That's pretty much the same how the.
Woody Overton
Is shooting the cannon? Tunneling in the same place you're going in a straigh. Oh Lord. So 46 year old Canadian man is in charge that police said he tunneled into an upstairs neighbor's apartment. He's and I told you what his charges were this according to McClatchy News. Police said they responded on September 5th to reports of a break in an apartment in the community of Coach Hill in Calgary, southwest quadrant. A woman told police she had been having ongoing issues with her downstairs neighbor which had intensified in recent weeks. And the cops didn't say what the disputes were about. All right, but after being away, she comes back kind of going to get my house. And when she opens the door, she sees like significant disturbances, like a gaping hole on her floor. Stupid motherfucker. Investigators said they believe the man tunneled from his apartment into hers through a space behind the fireplace. They said this incident represents a deeply disturbing violation of personal space and security. According to inspector Keith Hurley. The idea that someone would go to such lengths to gain unauthorized access to another person's home is not only alarming, but it also shatters the fundamental sense of safety we all deserve in our residences. He said. I'll sum it up one word. Creepy.
Cindy Overton
Yeah.
Woody Overton
So Harley told the Canadian broadcasting company, why didn't you just go kick in the door?
Cindy Overton
Literally?
Woody Overton
Was he panty sniffing or something? The. I mean, I don't know what the. The cause was it, but I wanted to end it on today was kind of for me it was like scuba Steve. And tunneling into your neighbor's apartment there's a hell of a lot easier. But everything you said, including being shot out of a cannon would be easier and tunne in that, literally. I don't know.
Cindy Overton
I don't know either.
Woody Overton
He's got some explaining to do.
Cindy Overton
I wonder what their other disputes were about. I mean, he's probably harassing her.
Woody Overton
Probably. So I don't know why. I mean, you tunnel in like, okay, I'm gonna dig behind her fireplaces and you know you're gonna leave a gaping hole in the floor. You therefore should know they are coming to arrest your ass. I mean, you're thinking you're gonna get away with it. I mean, you might in some jurisdictions, I guess, but I just can't imagine. I mean, you got a hole in the floor, somebody's got to pay for that. So the $5,000 of damage. Yeah, whatever. Whatever. Prisons are full of dummies and that dumbass is going where he deserves to go.
Cindy Overton
I don't know if I find a tunnel to get out of prison.
Woody Overton
Does Canada have the death penalty? Not that it works.
Cindy Overton
I doubt it.
Woody Overton
I seriously doubt it. Let's see. I said call us to abolish the death penalty in Canada. Go back to 1867. However, the most concerted efforts start in parliament in the 50s, blah, blah, blah. Both liberal and conservative openly opposed death penalty. One exception in 2011. Stephen Harper open Whatever does they have, it definitely can was fully abolished December 10, 1998. So no, they don't. Not that that's where he deserves it, but he could have tunneled in and got her ass and did some bad. But thankfully he didn't. And we love and appreciate each and every one of y'. All. Please call on your tips 313RLRC tip and I don't have anything else.
Cindy Overton
Please don't tunnel into my ring.
Woody Overton
Why are you listening to me, bitch? Right. Okay. Siri, you're not part of closing out this show.
Cindy Overton
She wants to be. She's a big part of this show. You need to include her. Poor thing feels left out.
Woody Overton
You mama bear for everybody else. You don't have to mama bear for Siri. All right, I'm Woody Overton.
Cindy Overton
I'm Cindy Overton.
Woody Overton
We'll holler at y' all tomorrow. Peace.
