The Daily is one of my regular podcasts. This episode is one of their best. It’s an uncomfortably close look at the alt-right’s presence on the internet and how they organized in chat groups before they organized on the streets of Charleston.

Disclaimer: I produce this podcast. Freak Out and Carry On attempts to react to the news of the day while putting it in history context. This week we take a deep dive into the history of the confederacy.

NPR’s Sam Sanders is a national treasure. I always enjoy his insight and energy and this episode is no different. He chose to talk to only white people about the events in Charlottesville. He told the Columbia Journalism Review: “We thought it would be interesting to lean into the white conversations we’d been having. To flip the script, and to challenge our white listeners to hear conversations for them, about them, with them.”

Another one of my regular podcasts: Emily Bazelon, John Dickerson and David Plotz give some of the best political analysis around.

It is always interesting to see how the rest of the world views what’s happening in the US.

Listen to this episode for the analysis of Wesley Lowrey, pulitzer prize winner, and a reporter who has been following our national conversation on race for years.
