Every morning. Darian Armstrong Talk Big Brother Looking at the stuff from yesterday, all the drama, all the strategy and silliness from Phoenix every single season, you know he is the reason you know what's happening. Rob said that he could do it tomorrow. He will do it again. Hello everyone and good morning. Welcome to our live feed update for July 20th. I'm your host Tren Armstrong and I'm here to update you on everything that happened yesterday. The big brother 28 live feeds. It was day 13 in the house and it's really a lot of the same, a lot of back and forth about the veto. Not who the replacement nominee might be but who might be taken off the block by by the veto in order to name the replacement nominee along with some shifting of things in general. So you know, stay tuned. You got to find out what the what the final conclusion is. But you know, a lot of, I think smaller things along the way. But with me to talk about it all is Iman. How you doing Aman.
A
Hey, hey, hey Taran. Hey everybody else. I'm great. I'm having so much fun with this season. Glad to be back for a live feed update and I will agree it felt very, you know, a bit of a slower day. Lots of pleading of one's case, waffling back and forth by those in power. Some good points made, some meh points made. But overall a pretty easy steady day today or yesterday.
B
Yes, yes. To remind you of where we are, of course, Devins is the hoh. He nominated Jason, Lyric and Melody with the intention of of backdooring Rome. He then also won the veto. Now the obvious play was to then remove Melody from the block if you plan to backdoor Rome. However, he was convinced by Lyric to perhaps use the veto on her instead. This is because she and Rome orchestrated a ploy to pretend to be broken up to like genuinely, and I don't even mean, like subtly, I mean actively say we had a breakup. It's. It's been pretty hard. So which Devin's fell for for now. She also proposed that he wouldn't, she wouldn't put him on the block. You know, the typical things that you might propose. All of the players are doing this, but it's the idea that she comes with Rome and that Rome might also offer him a deal that seems to be sweetening the potential for Devins. He pitched this to D and Angela. D had already been convinced by Lyric independently and Angela was convinced by the idea that it would mess with Drew. This was the plan last night up until Kamu went and talked to Devins and kind of talked some sense into him. It doesn't really make a lot of sense to take Lyric off the block if the intention is to backdoor Rome. You could win some favor with Melody. You're not really going to win much favor with Lyric considering you're actually still going after Rome for as much as they're claiming to be broken up. And so Devin's seemingly reluctantly agreed with that logic, but said he still wanted to talk to the rest of the alliance moving forward to see what the plan might be. And so that's really where we start the day.
A
Yeah, I mean, I, I see where common is coming from. It definitely makes sense. Like, if you're going to backdoor somebody, backdoor them. Let's not play shenanigans if we don't need to. Someone's going to have to come off the block. The veto is going to be won by somebody, whether it be the nominees or you. So you will get that chance to renom. You don't necessarily have to re now or, you know, you know what I'm trying to say. Like, it's not like you don't necessarily have to put somebody up now if the whole plan is to try to get rid of them later on. So I, I like what Kamu has to say about this. I kind of, you know, I'm seeing where Devin's is coming from as well with like, again, I think it's another example of like this whole survivor mentality where it's like things need to happen now because we only have three day cycles. So let's just do it. Let's just get to the point and let's just make it happen. But again, big brother is a marathon, not a sprint. So, you know, you gotta cool it on the brakes.
B
Cool it.
A
Devin's.
B
Cool it. Yeah. I would. I would say. And listen, there are definitely some additional points I want to make. I don't want to continue to harp on the point that I think the Lyric move is a mistake. Again, I'll bring up some of the additional points that will come up today, especially because not only have I already said them, but we've got the roundtable tonight where I'm sure I'm going to talk about it plenty as well, though, Aman, please feel free to rant to your heart's desire about it with your thoughts. But. But yes, we start the day here. Rome and Lyric are continuing with their ploy of the. The pretend breakup. The idea is to, like, do it in front of a couple. Like, talk about in front of a couple of people, and then let's see if it spreads naturally. And, you know, it's very silly. Meanwhile, Kamu is spreading, according to what he believes to be Devin's will, the message that the veto is being used on Melody. And he brings this to Dee, who's kind of clearly annoyed that this information is being brought to her. And, you know, this is the big question of the day is despite Camus having convinced Haley, Chuck, and a little bit Devins in order to. To. To make the plates take off, Melody instead of Lyric, D and Angela are the real difficult people to sway here. And so what will they be able to sort of push back in the other direction?
A
I mean, I understand, like, wanting to gain favor with people that you think are going to stay, but, you know, ultimately, I think if. If we are. If we're really trying to weaken this big phantom side of the house that they have constructed. Because, I mean, I think it should be pretty clear now that, like, Rome wasn't building an empire this entire time. He was kind of just, you know, lollygagging with Lyric. If the ultimate goal is to weaken him, then I think leaving him up or leaving Lyric up there just as a backup so that in case Rome does somehow escape with the blockbuster. Yeah, maybe you take out the next best thing, because this whole. Yeah, me and my girlfriend of five days broke up yesterday. It's just not. It's a pretty tough sale. I mean, it seems to be working on some of them. I mean, things work fast in that house. So I guess it's an accelerated. Accelerated relationship. Accelerated breakup, sure. But, I mean, even in the breakup, you think that they're just not gonna talk to each other ever again. Like, it's a. It's like a. Never speak to me like we're never going to Work together. Like, come on, what are we doing here? Come on.
B
Yeah. So we also get some more information on Mallory. Yesterday I had talked about how. How Mallory had been suspicious of Barrett because of him being in the room. She had a conversation with him. It seemed like things were fine, but then the next day she was like, actually, I don't think I trust Barrett anymore. But then they had a long conversation the night before the. Which I talked about yesterday. And now that conversation seems to have helped settle some of her nerves about Barrett. She's feeling a little bit better about him, though. She's still a little bit skeptical, and we'll kind of keep watch. The Mallory Barrett relationship will persist for this. For the time being, though. Worth noting, he has lost considerable standing elsewhere. Lala and Taylor and Jason and a bunch of other people on the Rome side of the house in particular are going to be talking about Barrett a lot throughout. Throughout the day and how obviously he's trying to play both sides and he's a floater and so on and so forth.
A
Yeah, I mean, there's been a lot of talk online I've been seeing, you know, the biggest critique for Drew and Barrett, you know, is did they sort of give up a really sweet position of being able to play both sides with the way that everything went down with the Ashley of it all last week? And it's interesting because, I mean, I feel like, you know, one side of the house was kind of sort of destined to fail last week. It was a lot of crumbling from within anyway. So I think in order to, like, you know, save themselves. Yeah. Go ahead and go with the. The vets and the. The red. The red crossover, because it makes more sense for your game, at least in the short term. In the long term. Yeah. I mean, you kind of are isolating yourself from the other side, but at the same time, there are still little pockets of trust there, you know, with, you know, Bear being able to talk to Mallory being like, look, you know, there can still be a little bit of leeway, so I don't necessarily know if it's all the way gone. And of course, we know that Drew still has an end with Melody, so I think it's just an interesting, like, teeter totter for the two of them. Like, yes, obviously it's a little obvious that they're on this side of the votes, but there's still an avenue for them to work if they spend more time, meaningful time with Jason and Lyric and everybody else. So, you know, it's. It's a tough spot. To be in, but I think that they're managing it as well as they can for now.
B
Well, Devin's is gonna start his day proper. He talks to Drew about the Melody plan, and I was pleasantly surprised, at least initially, that Drew was actively making a case for why Melody should be taken off the block. Basically, the conclusion Devin had come to the night before is if they plan to target Rome with Jason as the backup, then it makes more sense to pull Melody off the block. But if they planned to target the woman on the block, either Lyric or Melody, he'd prefer to target Melody over Lyric. And. And Drew is like, well, I think obviously Jason should be the backup target. And Devin's again, reluctantly kind of agrees to this idea, and therefore Melody should be taken off the block. Drew does admit this is good for my game. Melody's loyal to me, and I think keeping her around makes a lot of sense for really all of us, but obviously me as well. So you can take it with a grain of salt if you want, but. But I do think that's kind of the best play. And this is exactly what I want to see from Drew. I am going to still kind of whack him a little bit because it's his fault that in many ways that Melody's in this position in the first place, at least in part because I've seen some people, like, because I've talked about this before, but, like, basically Drew is in this position where a lot of people are like, oh, well, he can't defend her because then it'll. It'll be exposed how close he is with her, and that'll make them want to take Melody out even more. But I think it's become very clear that it doesn't matter what Drew says. They still think he's super tight with Melody, they still think he's going to abandon them, so on and so forth. And a huge part of the reason why Devins is skeptical of Melody in the first place, aside from, of course, the HOH competition, which helped confirm it, is that Drew had been telling Devins that Melody wanted him out and that Melody was the reason they couldn't take out Ash or keep Ashley. And he had been, you know, throwing her under the bus so often last week that now he's having to do extra work to rebuild her image to them. And it's. It's too little, too late in some. In some ways, that said, this is what I need from it. And quite frankly, I think he should be putting his foot down and saying, listen, I. I've got Melody under. Like, last week. She was all over the place, and I told you all about it this week. She has been 100% locked in, wants to work with you guys. I have. I really feel like I've got a handle on her, and I think it would be a huge mistake to let this opportunity go and not take her along with us in some capacity. And. And I really feel like sticking his foot down or not, he's in the same position with this group as we'll talk about through the rest of the day. They're. They are nearly done with Drew already. At this point, he might as well try to keep his other closest ally. Yeah.
A
I mean, at this point, like, there's, like, you say, like, no matter what Drew says, there's always going to be that voice in the room, namely Angela, that is his main hater and detractor and main, like, source of paranoia surrounding anything that comes out of his mouth. So I don't think that it's necessarily a bad idea to just be upfront about, like, what your relationship is like. And yeah, of course, this does sort of like, this is. This is, you know, But I mean, if they were talking about parachute alliances in the beginning, right. And they were talking about we all need to have our little, you know, pieces around the house, then, yeah, you go with that argument and say, like, this is someone that I know is going to be locked in with me by proxy. Locked in with you. But these vets have, like, this, again, this teeter. Tottering world they're in where it's like, do I go after the people that I know are going to come after me and that's like, the other side of the house. Or do I go after the person that this person that Drew has because eventually Dru's gonna come after me, and I need for that person to be gone so that Drew is still more isolated. It's like, who do you go after first? What makes more sense? I mean, I ultimately think it makes more sense to just get rid of Rome or Lyric at this point, just because you've made it the talk of the town for right now. But, you know, it's. I can understand why Devin's would have, like, a bit of a. Not really sure what to do here. This is kind of. Kind of weird.
B
Well, one thing Drew. Another thing Drew does well in this conversation is he. He basically lets Devins know that he fully believes that the Lyric Rome breakup is, in fact, a ploy. He said that he talked to Rome, like, the day before and was like, man, the best thing that could happen for your game is for you and Lyric to break up. And then, lo and behold, the next day, so, guys, actually we're having a breakup. And then he doesn't believe for a second that they're as broken up as they claim to be. And you can see. You can literally see, like, Devin's is physically uncomfortable in this conversation. And as Drew is talking about this and particular, you can see the wheels kind of turning. And he's like, yeah. I mean, even when she was up here, she was acting like, like they were broken up. And she was like, yeah, come on. And Devin's like, yeah, because you. Because Devin knows that he's been probably all over the diary room, he said it to the cameras that he fully believed Lyric about this. And so I figured at this point, like, man, this is really, like, surely at this point, he's gonna kind of, like, be a little embarrassed that he fell for this and maybe, maybe back off of his idea that Lyric is incapable of lying and. And would surely adhere to her word, so. But he keeps coming back to this idea. Well, it just depends. It just depends on who we end up targeting. If we're targeting Jason as the backup, then I'll take Melody off the block. But if we're targeting the woman, then I'm taking Lyric off the block. And Drew's like, well, obviously, I think we should be targeting Jason. No. And Devin's is like, yes, but it will really just depend on who we target. And it's just like, what? Okay, all right. The conclusion still is, for the most part, like, I do agree with you. It'll really just depend, though, on what the consensus is, which is, you know, just red flag after red flag, unfortunately for Drew here.
A
Yeah, I mean, it's, you know, you said your piece. Maybe it's, you know, time to stop barking up the tree and then maybe revisit it in a group setting. I think that. That those types of conversations seems to be a little bit better for Devins. The one on ones can really send him either which way. And, like, as you've clearly illustrated here with, like, you know, his one on one with Lyric, it was, you know, I mean, and, you know, props to Lyric, I guess. You know, I mean, I don't necessarily know if everybody's going to fall for the whole we're done with each other thing, but, like, Lyric, you know, she's not so bad at talking game a little bit. I was actually like, okay, you know, you spent a lot of week one you know, with Rome. But it's nice to see, like, even in the. In the appearance of breaking up, there is like, a little bit of a. Okay, you know, I can. I can do this on my own. So, you know, hey, she snowed Devins. If she has anything going for herself, she's got that.
B
She not only snowed Devons, she snowed all three veteran players. Like, she has, like, D still believes that the breakup is. Is real, I think, to some capacity. Like. Like, it's. It's. It's impressive stuff from Lyric. We have to give her. Her props here. So. So Melody then goes and talks to Devins. She gives him the pitch that she has. We don't need to go into detail because it's all generic stuff. It's the same pitch that pretty much everyone is making and that everyone should make. I'm not going to target you. I. I want to work with you. I won't put you on the block, you know, so on and so forth.
A
I was working with them. They screwed me over. Yeah.
B
I don't trust them anymore. And this is all true. This is stuff that she's actively talked to Drew about. She is ready to jump ship. She is ready to come over. She's annoyed at Devin's, but only because she's thinking that he might not use the veto on her, which would piss her off. And so. And because he put her on the block, of course. But if he did use the veto on her, I fully believe at this point that she's ready to kind of jump in now. Maybe not fully. She still is. Still is. Like, not with some people in the red corner, but she's becoming closer to Kamu. She's obviously close to Drew. This is a good opportunity to get closer to Devin's so on and so forth.
A
It doesn't really feel like she has much of a ship to jump from. I mean, she already had, like, one leg in the water anyway with, like, the whole Mallory of it all. So it's like she really is sort of playing from a position of, like, take me, please, because, yeah. Don't really have much else to offer, so might as well. So make sense.
B
Yeah. And interestingly, Devin's keeps bringing up Kamu and Drew as, like, he's like, Kamu and Drew really seem to be having your back. Like, they're really pushing for you. And this, like, in many ways seems to be just pawning Melody off onto Kamu. And I really am starting to feel like, again, almost by the creation of these vets, Camu Drew and Melody, if she stays this week, could start to become more of a thing. We already know that Kamu and Drew are a bit of a thing, so an interesting thing to. To put a pin in as well. A little bit of Yash update. Yash lets Lyric know they've been flirting a little bit, that he'd rather work with her than Melody, and encourages her to continue to badmouth Rome openly. Just be like, f f him, because he does not know that this is a ploy and also doesn't yet know that Rome is gonna like, probably go on the block and is just very, very behind on most things that are happening. That said, of all of the people who are either on the block or really could be on the block, his preference for who should leave is, in fact Melody. So that's a vote in that direction.
A
Yeah. I mean, hey, you know, I'm not gonna put it past anybody to try to make something happen if there's a little bit of flirtation going on there. It's interesting, you know, maybe Jason, Lyric and Rome aren't the only love triangle that are, you know, that exists. Yeah, it was an interesting quadrangle. Yeah. Yeah, it was interesting. I was kind of gets involved. He's pulling her for a chat. I was into it.
B
Yeah. Devin's talks with Jason. Jason makes a pitch as well here and it's again, it's the same stuff, a little bit more Jason coded. He says, I'm going to be your minion, Devin. I'll be your minion. I'll give you a jury vote. You know, I'm not going to, like, target you. He throws, notably Rome under the bus, exposing that Rome is still very mad about what went down and plans to do basically anything he can to strike back. Which again, should be more red flags for Devins that, that this is out there. But, you know, ultimately the veto is never going to be used on Jason, so this is not particularly going to go anywhere. Where it might go is in toward the idea of not evicting Jason. If Rome wins the blockbuster, if it's Jason versus Melody or Lyric, then the work that he's doing with Angela, he's going to do a little bit with Haley, he's doing some with Devin's here. That's where that could maybe come into play. But for right now, it's not going to help the veto situation.
A
And Devin's, you know, to your point, Devins did say to Jason, well, you know, Rome didn't really say anything bad about you when we had conversations. So it Is a bit, it's. It should, you know, go off in Devin's head like, oh, like this guy is willing to do anything, I guess. And this is very part of the course for Selena Stitches, you know, we, we got to see her this past season on All Stars and she is very. Just willing to cut throats, lie to people and you know, that she calls her best friends. Like, I think if push comes to shove, if Jason is backed into a corner, he will do anything, he will say anything. Definitely an interesting and interesting conversation between the two of them, but doesn't really go anywhere really.
B
Yeah. And it's the same with Lyric who talks to Devins again, who continues to pretend that they're broken up, her and Rome. And it's just a similar conversation to the one before. And so then we finally get to the, the, a bigger conversation amongst most of the crossovers where Devins is finally going to let them know, hey, I'm thinking Melody is the right potential veto poll here. You know, they talk about how the breakup is likely staged and it might make more sense to pull Mallory or sorry, Melody off the block. Drew comes into this conversation and just kind of dumps some more information that he's been learning, including the fact that Mallory's been not talking about not trusting Barrett, that Lala is still mad at Devin's and is wanting to target him. This is because Drew is still close to all these people and he wants to give them this information. He talks to Devin's more kind of one on one after everyone disperses and let Stevins know that he's like, I'm. I'm worried that you guys think I'm gonna switch sides. I hope you know that's not happening. Like I'm, I'm bringing you this information for a reason. And Devin's is like, well, that wouldn't even be smart. Where would you even go? He's like, exactly like what I like. I hope you. I hope you know, like I'm with you. Because he is, he is, he is.
A
And he's just, I think he just, you know, as I've been listening to the updates and everything, I think what everyone's been having to say about Drew and his delivery, I think everyone's been pretty much spot on. I think it's just, I think he, when he talks, everything is so matter of fact in nature and I think that it can come across as like, are you being sincere or is this all within self interest? You know, obviously it's okay to be self interested in a Game like Big Brother. But I do think that sometimes there is, like, a bit of a disconnect between, like, being close with people that he's working with and being close with people that he's working with. It feels like a little bit too much game, a little bit too much info dump, a little bit too much like, hey, here's what I learned. All right, check in with you later. As opposed to, like, hey, how you doing? What's going? Like, what's going on? Tell me about your family, say, about your wife. Like, just. I just need a little bit more, like, interpersonality between him and the rest of the people that he's working with in order for him to, like, have a more secure spot, because it just feels like no matter how much he gives them, there's always this. Gotta watch that one. He's a little Drew the Shrew. I think someone called him.
B
Well, I think what's interesting is that, like, it's. It's spread like wildfire because nobody distrusted Drew until Angela was like, he reminds me of Quinn. And then Angela spread it to D, who spread it to Devins, who. And now, like, they all just kind of spiral around with this thought. And after this conversation, Dee and Angela, they're mad at Drew again. They don't like how he brings them information that they don't like. It's like, oh, this is annoying. Apparently, Mallory's still coming after me. I don't like that information. Why does he always bring us negative information? And they talk about how annoyed they are that Devins has been convinced to. To take me, Melody, off the block. They want Melody to stay on the block to test Drew because they don't trust Drew at all, and he needs to be tested. In fact, Angela is thinking, if I win, hoh, I think I should nominate Drew as a pawn. Oh, if you're so good with everyone in the house, then you're a good pawn for me to use. And it's. To me, it's gotten to the point where this is not distrust of Drew anymore. This is just dislike of Drew. They just don't like him. They don't want to work with him because nothing of what they're saying has any actual substance in terms of why they distrust him. They don't like his position, they don't like his delivery, they don't like his information, they don't like Drew, and so they want to kick him out, but they can't because he's too integrated into their alliance. And so they just want to do anything they can to punish him for not liking him.
A
Yeah, it really. It kind of. It really reminds me so much of, like, you know, when you're, you know, out in the real world and you, you know, a friend comes to you and says, oh, my God, did you hear what they were saying about you? They were talking so much shit. And it's like, in the real world, you would say, well, what did you say? Like, what does it say about you that they feel so comfortable saying that to you? About me? But obviously, in the Big Brother house, you can't say that to Drew because, like, what, like, you want Drew to blow up the spot and be like, hey, yeah, talk about my alliance that way. Like, what is he supposed to do? So I think, you know, if anything, I think the positioning is really what is pissing them off, because he's in a position where no one apparently is talking any crap about him except them. So, yeah, it's like, I mean, he's got to get it from somewhere. Like, if. If he's gonna. If he's. If. If he's in that good of a spot, this isn't going to be an issue later down the line. So I think they're trying to temper that as much as they can while they can.
B
Exactly. And I think the telling part of this is that none of what they're saying is actually useful to them, and none of what they're worried about is actually threatening to them. They feel better about people who are actively coming after them than Drew, who is actively working for them in. In most moments of his game. And it's just. I think it's just because they would rather they. If they had the choice, they just swap Drew out with somebody they like better.
A
Yeah, I'm trying to, like, remind me how did it, because I'm. Everything so much has happened. I'm already forgetting, like, how it coalesced. Why was it Barrett and Drew again that they picked up?
B
I'm pretty sure. I mean, this happened in the episode, so we don't really know exactly how it went down, but to my memory, it was Devin's that had. That felt good about Drew. Great relationship with Drew early on, and they had this kind of father son thing going on. But Devin's now is worried about Drew because he trusts Dee's judgment and has been distancing himself from. From that connection, which I also think is terrible for Devin's game because they are still talking about, like, the three of them, Devin's, Drew and Barrett as a three in the five. But. But the more that they continue to antagonize Drew, especially with this veto decision that Devins is making, the less Drew is going to feel like Devins is his number one close ally, and the more he is gonna. Gonna stray. And here's. Here's the biggest kicker. Even if you are like, Drew is the next Dan Geesling, like, he is going to ruin us. He's too good of a player. We need to damage his game. Let's take out. Let's just fully evict Melody. Because the idea of, like, keeping Melody on the block to punish Drew or test Drew is, I think we can all agree, patently absurd. It does nothing to actually check anything that Drew's doing if you don't plan to evict her anyway. But even if you did plan to evict her to take out a number from Drew, what does that really do? It doesn't make Drew go, oh, all right. I guess I'm stuck with the vets now because I don't have Melody.
A
No.
B
Surely what this does is. Okay. The vets just in the second eviction took out my one other option to. Clearly, I'm not well positioned here. Clearly, I need to now use those other connections. I have to jump ship as early as possible. That's what I would do if I were Drew and they took out Melody. Melody helps Drew feel safe and comfortable in what they're doing because he has somebody else. If you take out Melody now, he has nothing else and nothing to lose and a lot to gain. So I don't even like it in that sense, even if they couldn't trust Drew. So, you know, it's.
A
It's a lot.
B
It's a lot.
A
Yeah. It's interesting because I feel like. I feel like both sides of this really need to do something, like, for themselves. That might sound counterintuitive. I feel like, at the very least, more trust needs to be given to Drew from this alliance. And then on Drew's end, you gotta stop talking as much. I think that it's okay to just. They don't have to know every single detail.
B
He needs to stop giving them information
A
they don't need downloaded on everything. Like, if someone's gonna say something about the vets, let them say it. And you just say at this point,
B
they get more mad at the information that he's bringing than if he didn't bring the information.
A
Right. It's just it, you know, it's not really offering. There's no substance to it, you know, So I just. They're just There. There has to be a little bit of a. Of a filter there. He needs to edit himself a bit more.
B
If Drew was actually the free agent that they feared he was, they would look at this more clearly. They would recognize Drew is somebody who is. Who we are able to pull in and use as a number. Let's cater to him and make him feel good. But because he's not actually a free agent and he's actually with them instead, their perspective is he might be a free agent, therefore let's push him out. And it's just like, okay. I mean, if that's what you want to do.
A
I guess I feel like if there were less vets, he would be in such a better position. Like, if it were just Devins, maybe, or maybe even. Maybe. Maybe even just Devins and Angela and no D. Like, I feel like there'd be such a. A better spot for him to be. Because he could still play essentially the same game, but there wouldn't be three people all talking about it with. Amongst themselves in convincing themselves. Yeah, that Drew. That Drew, man, we gotta watch him. Like, if there's no sounding board for all that paranoia, he's in much. He's in a much better spot. But alas.
B
So Lyric continues her. As she calls it, I believe her bombshell era, as she is gonna be just so heavily and obviously flirting with Chuck. Like, hardcore, like. Like. Like, Chuck, you look good. You look so good. He's like, what do you mean? What? He's like, oh, I don't know. Chuck, have you had your food yet? Do you want me to get you some? And it's just. It's. Everybody sees it too. Like, it's very obvious for everyone watching. Angela even tries to tease Chuck about it, and he doesn't. He didn't even get what she was trying to tease him about. And it's. It's just very funny what's happened. Like, you know, you really have to see it to believe it.
A
I mean, if there's one person that. That. That could work on, it would be it. You know, it could be Chuck. But Lyric, honey, three days ago you were talking about.
B
I'm on three days ago. She's going to be professing her love for Rome in about five minutes.
A
You were in the bunk telling, like, oh, Rome, tell me you love me. And then you told everybody that Rome said that he loved me last night, and now it's a breakup. Now you're flirting with Chuck. Like, it don't work that way, boo. It doesn't work. Like that.
B
And yet. And yet.
A
Oman.
B
It's working. It's working. We got it. We gotta give her credit for it because it's working. Well, is she like, is.
A
Is she like a siren? Like, is that what her name is Lyric after all? Like, what is going on on here?
B
They're calling her Lyric Irwin in the chat.
A
Like, honestly. Oh, man. I mean, if I. If I had the flirtation skills of Lyric, y' all couldn't tell me nothing, I would own the world. Okay, well,
B
meanwhile, Kamu. Kamu has this. This doesn't really go anywhere, so I don't know why I wrote it down. I already started it, so I might as well finish. Kamu proposes to Devens that they blame Jason for exposing Rome's plans to go after Devin's as a reason to backdoor Rome. I guess I think I wrote it down because it was like, it's emblematic of the way that Kamu's moving in the house with his alliance as well. He is just constantly thinking about ways to help his alliance members. And so he's like, well, okay, I thought about this. Devin's. What if you say I was gonna not backdoor you, Rome after our conversation, but then I talked to Jason and he ra. He threw you under the bus and said you were coming for me and that's why I had to do it. And Devin's is like, interested in this idea, but ultimately it doesn't seem to go anywhere. Obviously doesn't make a lot of sense if he ends up making a deal with Lyric anyway. Lyric and Rome anyway. But I think this is in part to help convince Devins to go through with the taking off Melody idea as well as just like help Devin's come up with. He just was thinking about this reason in general, I will say I still, I don't like this kind of explanation gameplay of like, well, it was actually, you know, this thing. However, I do think that it. It might have had some. I. I dislike it more when it's like, well, Rome, I was gonna not backdoor you until you did a thing and it's your fault that I'm backdooring you. But blame it on Jason actually might efficacy here. So it was an interesting idea.
A
Yeah, I mean, K was very tactical and like you said, he's always trying to make things make sense, always trying to prop up a narrative. I do think ultimately, you know, just based off of how Roman's been behaving over the past couple of days and dealing with the fact that he is a target, I don't really think that you need to do all of that. I think it's, you know, Rome is very upfront about everything. I don't think that it's anybody's secret, like, why Rome would be a target. I don't think that you need this big hullabaloo. Does it, you know, maybe create more paranoia surrounding Jason, like, in the event that Rome does save himself. Right. Like, and he does stay. Yeah, sure, maybe there's a little bit of, let's drive a rift between the two of them, but I don't even think that that would even work on Rome, to be honest, so.
B
Because.
A
Because him and Jason are pretty tight. So, yeah, you know, it's. It's an interesting ploy, but they could do without it.
B
Meanwhile, Angela is going to work on flipping Haley's opinion back to getting Lyric off the block instead of Melody. They are not going to take this lying down, Angela and D. And Angela's going to work on Haley. The more people they have on their side, the more push they'll have with Devin's. Turns out, though, that was all unnecessary because Devins is going to have a conversation with Rome where Rome, first of all, fully upfront, admits the breakup is. Is fake. Yeah, I told Lyric to do that. Don't worry. Don't worry. We still love each other. And I'm not kidding. He says, I'm in love with her and I really want to see her off the block. And Devin's. I still trust you, you know, despite everything. And Devin's should know this is a lie. He's been told it's a lie. And. And Rome is also telling him Lyric's been lying to you. And he says, like, listen, if you take Lyric off the block, you nominate me instead. All right? And then what we can do is we can secretly be working together moving forward after that. And you might think this is an absurd proposal. Why would Devens declare war on Rome? Why would Devens, who was secretly working with Rome, declare war on Rome? Put Rome on the block and then afterward be like, actually, never mind. Rome offered to secretly work with me, so let's save him. That's where you started. You're getting nothing. What, are we in a war with Iran? With this soul situation? Like, what are we doing?
A
No, not Iran. Yeah, it's a round and round and round and round and round it back to the point we start. We love it. We love the laps. This is a very fit house after all. So, yeah, I mean, pardon me, I don't even know what to say. Like,
B
okay, it's a bit silly. It's a bit silly. Devin's, after his conversation with Rome, goes to Haley, Drew D. And he basically is like, yeah, I'm kind of feeling like, you know, I talked to. I feel like maybe I should use it on Lyrics. And Drew does, again, try to push back a little bit. He's like, I. I don't know if that's the move, but when Devin just says, like, I'm kind of leaning Lyric because D backs it up, of course, immediately he. Devin's again is. I don't think Lyric's capable of lying. I think she's gonna stick to her word here. And. And Drew backs down. He says, listen, you do what's best for you. If this is what's best for you, you should do it. And are you sure? It's like, yeah, use it on Lyric. Use it on Lyric. And just like that, the cards fell. And. And the plan is now to use it on Lyric, which, of course, you might have been able to intuit based on how frustrated I've been with the whole situation throughout the day. I probably wouldn't have been talking about it so much if this were. Isn't where it concluded.
A
Yeah, it's. You know, I mean, I. And I agree with Drew here. I think, you know, especially since you kind of already know that you were played by Lyric, to then go ahead and say, I think she's trustworthy. Doesn't really hold a lot of water, but. Okay. Okay, sure.
B
It's strange stuff, man. So the plan is now Lyric D talks to Lyric, you know, and. And again, like, Lyric is. Is giving D the same stuff she's been giving D since last week. Week. Which, again, should be a red flag. But Lyric says. Because. Because D is asking Lyric about Mallory. She's. I got this information from Drew again that, like, Mallory is still targeting D and Devins and mad at Barrett and all this stuff, which is all true. And Dee's like, hey, Lyric, does Mallory hate me? And. No, no, Mallory doesn't hate you. That's not. And don't worry about her. I. I can stop her from nominating you, if that was even a thing, you know, like, it's not. It's not a big deal. And it's. This is. Again, it's just such a good example of just, like, people believe what feels good. You know, Drew is giving them information that feels bad even though it's true. Other people are telling them what they want to hear, and they like that better. And so, Drew. Sorry, D. Messy Full on throws Drew under the bus to Lyric, saying, well, Drew's going around saying, Mallory hates me. And Lyric says, well, that's not true. That's a lie. And so this is dangerous, especially because Lyric is still very connected to Rome, and Rome is going to be campaigning in full force because Lyric is coming off the block, and Rome believes that Drew is a swing vote and now has information, probably will eventually maybe get this information that D is throwing Drew under the bus for the information he's giving to D. That should be private. And it's just messy.
A
Yeah. Yeah. And it sounds like it could be the beginnings of an ousting and replacing of Drew within that little sweet spot. I don't know if Lyric would ever, like, fully be in on what Drew's got going on, but it does feel like it could be, you know, planting seeds of, like, this. This guy has gotta go. Even if it is, like. Even if it is something that, like, Lyric spills the beans on, I think ultimately, the person that would experience the most blowback if this information does get used to its advantage would be Drew in this instance. So, yeah, it's. It's dicey. And, yeah, interesting.
B
This is not the first time that Dee has done this to. She threw Haley under the bus in a spot that she never got caught doing it. But the difference is, I think here that Haley was thrown under the bus by a ton of people in the house. Drew is not thrown under the bus much. There's absolutely a world where Lyric doesn't bring this to Rome, that Rome doesn't bring it to Drew, that it slips their mind or it just never goes anywhere. But it. There's just. There's just zero reason for any of this to be happening. That Rome shouldn't have free reign to campaign all week long because he should be on the block next to Lyric, and there should be no information to leak to Drew to get him to turn on you here. That does nothing for your game at all. So I, I. It's just.
A
Just.
B
It's just.
A
Do you think Rome would. If Lyric were to tell him, do you think Rome would take it to or to Drew?
B
Rome has expressed to Jason multiple times that. That. That Drew should not be blown up for anything that he's doing. They shouldn't try to throw him under the bus unless they have to, and he still might eventually, because he sees Drew as somebody that they can reel in, that they can reel in with promises, with information. And so if Rome had that. Dee is talking about Drew, and Dee is campaigning against Rome on the block, which she intends to do. I don't see why he wouldn't use this information with Drew. Would Drew believe it? That's another question. But. But yeah. I mean, this is the whole thing, and we're. We're about to get there. I'll just. I'll skip ahead slightly. Rome and Lyric have a moment toward the end of the day where they kind of like slowly sneak. Slip into the have not room. Nobody around. Oh.
A
Oh.
B
They just start making out. Very sloppy and messy and noisy.
A
I thought. I, I. They were broken up. I thought. Wasn't you.
B
It was too much for Iman. It broke his Internet.
A
Oh, am I back? Yeah.
B
You were frozen that whole time, and I'm just imagining all of the things you were doing.
A
You missed a lot. You missed a lot. Yeah. I guess my. My computer just couldn't handle the. The imagery of Aaron making out with himself. I love you so much.
B
I'm not even exaggerating.
A
No. No, you're not. No. It's. Out of all times that Skippy could have cut them fees. That would have been fun to do it because. Please, please.
B
Oh, those two lyrics, like, I hope you're not actually mad at me. He's not. Of course not.
A
I hope we're not actually broken up. We're not actually broken up. Are we part of the act?
B
It's part of the act. Don't worry. Listen, I made a deal with Devin's. I think it's. I think it's gonna work. And he says. And this is the key. He says, if this works, I'm not going anywhere. As long as I'm not on the block against you, I'm winning that blockbuster or I'm winning those votes. I have the votes to stay. And this. This is the key. This is the key to all of it. Because Rome genuinely thinks he has the votes to stay or could get the votes to stay because he thinks he can pull Drew because he thinks he's got other votes. And because, of course, in Rome's mind, when he proposes to Devens, that they make a deal for Lyric to come off the block, even if it means he has to go up, but then they'll be secretly working together. Rome doesn't imagine the world where secretly working with Devens means Devens is whipping the votes against him on the eviction block. He thinks that he's got some. He's. That there's an actual relationship building. And what's really gonna happen is that Rome's gonna be on the block against Mallory And Jason, he's gonna be campaigning all week long to Devin's and Dee and Angela and the people who made this happen, who are all gonna have to turn him down because they actually want to vote him out. Unless they change their minds and did all of this for nothing. And. And that's day. Sorry, I said Mallory and I meant Melody. And so it's just like from today until Thursday, Rome and Devins are going to be enemies again because Devins wants Rome gone and he. Rome, thinks that he has the votes and will be campaigning. And it's just like, this wouldn't even happen if you didn't take Lyric off the block. Then Rome would almost ask to be voted out over. Over. Certainly over lyrics. And it would be so much easier to actually make a deal with him that, you know, hey, if you stick around, here's the deal. We'll vote out Jason over Lyric instead of sending Lyric out. That's the deal. Don't. Don't put me up. If I help you get the votes to keep Lyric around, but if by taking her off the block, now it's like he's not going to be satisfied. Oh, you took Lyric off the block. Thank you so much. Now keep me. Wait, you're not gonna keep me. Oh, well, don't worry. I'm still satisfied with the deal that we made before. I'm not gonna target you in the future. No, don't keep me. I'm coming for you. What do you mean?
A
I just need Rome to remember what happened a couple of days ago when he knocked on that door. No one came. He sat outside at the door. No one came. He goes back downstairs, and then seven people walk out of that room, most of which walk past him without saying a word. And the one person that does say a word makes a snide remark about how it's going to be a big day tomorrow. Do you remember what that felt like? Because we remember what that felt like for you. We remember your face on the feeds. It's a meme now. That cracked smile, we all saw it. And now for some reason, you have amnesia about all of that and expect the person that ignored your knocks is going to have a change of heart. And
B
I mean, to be. To be fair, Jerome, it makes no sense that Devins would take Lyric off the block and still want Rome to leave. Those are two contradictory things. Yeah,
A
a lot of people in that room.
B
I can see why Rome would believe that if Devins is going to do one thing, he wouldn't do the other. And it would actually be opening the door to him being potentially safe. Because it doesn't make sense to do it the way that Devin's is doing it, in my opinion. Certainly in Rome's opinion, I would assume.
A
Okay.
B
But Rome has more problems than just Evans, and this is what could potentially bail Devin's out in the future, but we'll see. So anyway, that's, that's, that's the issue that I have with this, with this whole situation. I mean, there's many, many issues that I have with the situation, but this is one of the major ones, is that Devins is not even going to. To likely get anywhere near what he thinks he's going to get by taking Lyric off the block because it puts him and the alliance in a tougher position if in the event that Rome stays, because Rome has now been spending a week with them campaigning against him, making sure he doesn't have the votes, and that's the last thing he's going to remember. Not that they took Lyric off the block where instead they could have been doing this. This deal, but on Thursday, right before in a new hoh, they could have done this deal where it's like, hey, if he wins the blockbuster, we're promising him to vote out Jason over Lyric. We protected your girl. Are you going to reciprocate? Not, hey, we protected your girl a week ago and then did everything we could to get you voted out. Like. Anyway, they continue their makeout session. Kamu comes in and interrupts and. And Rome, it's like, oh, sorry, that was just as an emotional conversation, you know, but it's like, it was. It's hard. You know, breakups are hard.
A
So. Yeah, yeah, they're very hard.
B
It was, it was an awkward. It was an awkward situation for us. So, like, weirdly over sharing, even if this was not a lie. And then Kamu leaves and he pulls her back and she's like, I just. I just was like, oh, that was an awkward breakup conversation. Aren't I so good at this?
A
Oh, my God. That's not the way cookie monster. No.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, the breakups are hard, especially when you're not broken up.
B
So hopefully I skipped over the bit to pet to get here. The Devins does eventually tell Kamu that he's leaning toward using the. The veto on Lyric and Kamu. It basically is like, all right, do what you're gonna do. That's. That's fine. Kamu also lays down here, which makes more sense for Kamu, of course, who doesn't have nearly as Much of a rooting interest as Drew does. Devins and Angela talk with Haley. They're, like, hyping her up about being HOH because they really want Haley to win hoh. Haley's talking about how much she would love to nominate Lala, and Devin's like, oh, I would love to have nominated Lala, because they really don't like Lala, which is honestly the biggest surprise I had in terms of casting. I really thought Lala would be super popular in the house.
A
So did I. And, like, we don't see her on the feeds all the time. And when we do see her, the conversations seem generally pleasant, although they do feel, unless it's with a select few, they do feel very sort of, like, surface.
B
She. She's picked her people and. And like, other people don't really get as much from her. I think is. Is the biggest issue that she has. And so because you see how close she is with her people, it's like, oh, I know I'm not with Lala. And then it's. It's the being super annoyed with Lala I don't get as much, like, especially because she's, like, super helpful around the house a lot of the time. But,
A
yeah, Drew's comment a couple of days ago about her walking around in heels in a bikini.
B
Yeah, I didn't love that. I mean, I didn't quite understand what he meant by it, but didn't feel good.
A
It's like. Like, yeah, I was trying to decipher it too. It's like, is that about her age? Do you think she's too old to be doing that? Yeah, like, whatever. Okay,
B
so as they're talking about Lala, they agree Haley's now been flipped fully. She agrees that they should pull Lyric off the block. And Devin says again that Lyric can't lie. She. She won't nominate him. She wins hoh. He believes that by pulling Lyric off the block, he gets one lyric and half of a roam. And by pulling Melody off the block, he gets like, three quarters of a melody. And I think his math is very wrong, but. But that is part of what he is seeing here. He even says it to Melody when they have a conversation, which happens here as well. He tells her the same math. Not the same exact math, but he tells her the math tells me I should use it on Lyric. So he has this conversation with Melody, and it's a long, drawn out conversation where he keeps coming back to, like, so between you and me, Rome is gonna go up on the block talk, and she's like, yeah, everyone knows. Yeah, yeah.
A
But.
B
But between me. You and me, it is gonna be Rome. Between you and me, though, Rome is gonna go up on the. Like, I swear to you. He said it had to be 10 times throughout the conversation. And. And this is, again, a kind of a wild conversation, because in this conversation, he explains to her exactly his logic. He basically says, so. So what's happening is between you and me, Rome is going to go up on the block. And the question I have is, who is going to be the replacement or who is going to come off the block? And obviously, I want to use it on you. Oh, yeah. But basically, you know, my thought is if I use it on Lyric, then the math tells me that's better because Lyric and Rome would both promise me safety. And, you know, obviously, I'm missing an opportunity to show you goodwill, but I'm thinking that maybe the possibility that they might not come after me in the event that Rome stays is probably more valuable. And, like, I know that they could be lying to me, but I just feel like it's, I guess, worth the risk is essentially what he's telling her. And she. She, you know, is in this spot where she's like, I understand. She does try to a little bit be like, you know, I don't think Lyric and Rome are gonna, like, hold to a deal like that. And he's like, yeah, I. They. And quite frankly, frankly, they have no reason to. Rome could 100 stand up there and be like, devin's told me I was safe and then lied to me, so I can now lie to him. And. But, you know, that's just kind of what I'm feeling right now.
A
You.
B
Would you be really, like, upset with me? Would you be really burned if I didn't use it on you? Yes. Yes.
A
No, she would, right?
B
She would. And obviously, she can't tell you that she would because she doesn't want to get evicted in the spot that, you know, you don't use it, or she's still on the block. She has to pretend that she's still good with you. And it's just. It's. It's. And. And to her credit as well, she was like, listen, I'm not gonna tell you. I'm just, like, okay with this. Like, I'm not gonna not pitch for myself over lyrics. But, no, I'm not gonna, like, come for you or anything. Which is not true.
A
Of course.
B
We know this. Like, but. But it is what it is at this point.
A
Yeah. I mean, it. I mean, it really Felt like he was talking out of both sides of his mouth here. You know, he really emphasized Rome is going to be the one that goes up because him sitting next to you, he'll probably go. But I don't want him to go because he said he wouldn't come for me if he doesn't go.
B
And later in the event, in the event that he stays, he wins that blockbuster.
A
Yeah. So it would be great for me if he did win because then he's good with me. But then you go, bye, bye. But that's okay, right? Come on.
B
Yeah, yeah. So that conversation, I would say, does not go super well. Lala talks to Jason later into the night as well. And this is again, she's been talking about Barrett throughout the day. She talks with Jason about Barrett, how he's a floater and how he's playing all sides. And they both talk about wanting Devin's out, both Jason and Lala. And most interesting to me, Lala is still upset about the Rome situation. She said she initially forgave him after it happened. He apologized, but now he's like going around, he's doing the same stuff and he's like, she doesn't feel like she's included. And, and he's not like being apologetic anymore in the same way that he was before. And Jason actually presses on this wound and goes, yeah, you know what? I saw Rome. I heard Rome talking to Devins about you saying that you were like being a lot. And, and La la's. You could tell Lala, who was like talking about it from a neutral, like, not emotional position is now like the wound just got reopened by that, like, oh my God, he's talking about me. Like, I'm a lot. Like, that's even worse than what I was thinking. And, and so she's pretty frustrated. She's very much in favor of keeping Jason over Rome, which is what would likely happen anyway. But, but she's, she's still good with Jason, not good with Rome, though. Certainly she's had conversations with him throughout the day. It's not like she's actively letting Rome know that she's not with him. But she has not forgotten about the, the whole situation.
A
Jason is, he's so dirty.
B
Well, he's on the block against Rome, of course.
A
Of course. Of course. So he's just a dastardly person. And you know, Lala, you know, I mean, again, when she has, like you said earlier, she has her people and she doesn't really have anywhere else to go. So, you know, if she's going to feel that disconnect. It's going to. It's going to be very, very easy to manipulate her into, you know, feeling a certain way. I had a quick question, technical question about Barrett. Can we call him a floater yet? Only because the power has stayed centralized. Well, can he be a floater now, or does he. Do we have to wait for someone on the other side to then win and then he's a floater, or is he still somebody.
B
A floater before two sides get power? Like. Like somebody like Drew is. Is very much floating at the moment in the sense that. Or at least that's the perception. We know that Drew is locked in with one side. Drew could become a floater, and this is sort of what they fear he might do in that if, say, you know, Rome won with the blockbuster and then won an hoh like, Drew would be all over Rome. And if Rome decided, screw what Drew tells me. I think Drew would try to steer him away from the vets, but if. If Rome was like, I'm targeting all three vets, I think, you know, it's not like Drew is gonna be like, I denounce you. Like, he's gonna continue to pretend to be on that side as much as possible. So, you know, at the end of the day, like, most people that enter the house are floaters. Like, there are only a select few people that get stuck on one side, and even those people aren't usually happy that they're stuck on one side. They would love to be floaters, and they resent the floaters for being able to float. So, you know, it's. It's just. And. And so, like, Lala is one of those people that doesn't even really. Lala's like, I have a side. I picked my side. That's just my. That's just my crew. And so she doesn't like the people that she's caught openly floating and trying to play all sides. Interestingly enough, she does really like Drew and thinks that. That they can trust Drew to some degree because she doesn't really see. But. But, yeah, that's. I would say. And honestly, though, I would say Barrett is. Is barely a floater at this point. He's got, like, one connection to Mallory, which is a tenuous one as it is, and. And otherwise is just fully locked in with. With the. Primarily with the. And the crossovers, but also with this new tool shed alliance.
A
Interesting. Okay. Because I always. In my mind, I always, you know, thought about, like, the power dynamics of floating, but I guess you don't necessarily need to float from power to power. It's really more so about just floating from person to person.
B
Yeah, it's like keeping your options open. The ability to float to power if that, if that side wins, I would say makes you a floater, even if that side hasn'.
A
Yet. Okay. Somebody in the comments called Drew a gopher. That's funny. Information. I like that. Yes.
B
Anything else you want to bring up, Iman?
A
No, I'm, I'm having a lot of fun. It's been, it's been, it's been great so far. I've like, I feel like I was. Matt said this the other day. He's like, I feel like you've watched Morphe's in the past week of EB28 and you watching the entirety of EB27 and that's probably true. So, yeah, it's just nice to like, finally be able to like, dig back in and, and watch all the people and so it's, it's been fun. I've been having a lot of fun.

Yes. All right, well, we will be back tonight for the round table. We've got some, some things to talk about, of course, some players to race might be a little bit of a reckoning here. I believe that's going to be 9:00pm Eastern tonight. I will send out the survey as well for you to rate the players, give all of your opinions and all of that stuff. So find me on Twitter Blue sky, where I'll post those links and I'll be back tomorrow, 11am Eastern to update, you know, everything that happens today on The Big Brother 28 live feeds, including the ceremony where as of right now, Lyric will come off. Rome will go on. So stay tuned for that. And in the meantime, check out my Patreon where I'm doing streams. I'm still posting videos of other shows. It's good stuff over there and I very much appreciate those who've come aboard. Aman, what do you got going on?
A
I'm here with RHAP all summer long for BB28. You can also check out me and Matt Liguori's podcast, the Diary Room, where we have been going through all the North American Big Brother players trying to find out who is the best player of all time. Six players enter an episode, three will survive. And we just keep doing it over and over and over again. Taran's been on a couple of times, so make sure you check us out everywhere where you can get your podcasts. And that's it for me.

On Devins' Survivor mindset:
“Big Brother is a marathon, not a sprint. So, you know, you gotta cool it on the brakes.”
— Aman (04:44)
On the ‘test Drew’ logic:
“The idea of keeping Melody on the block to punish Drew or test Drew is, I think we can all agree, patently absurd.”
— Taran (30:26)
On Lyric’s social game:
“Is she like a siren? Is that why her name is Lyric after all?”
— Aman (36:38)
On Drew’s downfall:
“If they had the choice, they’d just swap Drew out with somebody they like better.”
— Taran (29:47)
On Rome’s delusion:
“Do you remember what that felt like? Because we remember what that felt like for you. We remember your face on the feeds. It’s a meme now, that cracked smile, we all saw it.”
— Aman (52:35)
On people ignoring reality:
“People believe what feels good. You know, Drew is giving them information that feels bad, even though it’s true. Other people are telling them what they want to hear, and they like that better.”
— Taran (45:46)
The episode details a day dominated by “waffling”—plans flip back and forth, driven by misinformation, personal grievances, and hosts’ frustration at illogical moves. Drew and Barrett scramble to salvage their positions, Lyric and Rome’s fake drama proves more effective than expected, and core vets are mired in their own suspicions and poor communication.
Lively commentary and sharp observations make this a particularly engaging update for fans needing both the facts and the flavor of BB28’s current machinations.
Next Up: The Veto ceremony will reveal if Devins sticks with taking Lyric off the block and, as Taran notes, “Rome will go on,” setting up the week’s real battle.
