Hey everybody, what's going on? Rob Cisternito here on a very dark night in Big Brother history. We are very sad here tonight, but the show must go on. To recap The Big Brother 28 premiere here with you live after the episode. And so let's bring in our esteemed panel. Of course, a man who I'm sure is very shook at this hour, it's Taryn Armstrong. Taryn Good evening.
D
I thought dinosaurs were cool. I thought velociraptors were chill. Now all of a sudden, yeah, they're murdering Rachel Riley. What in the. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is happening. I don't understand.
C
Yep, yep. None of this makes sense. Doesn't make. At a time like this, nothing makes sense. Here with us, I'm sure very upset. The voice of the people, Melissa Denny. Melissa, how are you?
B
I'm so confused. I'm honestly so confused. I had no. Like, I just didn't know where they were going with it. I was like, oh, is the final person a cocktail waitress from Las Vegas? That sounds familiar. And then I was like, wait a second. And I honestly, for a split second thought that they were able to keep a secret from, like, all the media outlets and all the leakers and everybody. And, like, Rachel was coming back and I was very excited. So that turned real strange real fast. I. I don't even. I don't know. I don't even know what to say.
C
Yeah, well, listen, listen. We'll try to make sense out of the tragedy here tonight. And then with us back again after the draft last night, it's Puyal.
B
Puya.
C
How are you?
A
I wish I was here on better circumstances, Rob. I did want to address one thing.
C
Yes.
A
I'm sure everyone who watched us last night and is watching us tonight is realizing. Wait, where's Amon? Aman was chased by the Nether Gorgon at the Meow Meow Industries vat of acid. And he will not be on this podcast tonight.
C
Yes, this is terrible news. Just when you thought this night could not get any darker. Sad to hear about Amman. And we have a lot to talk about here tonight in terms of the Big Brother 28 premiere. A lot to do. We will find out tomorrow night the identity of the new reality TV icon coming in. Although I think we can speculate a bit about some things. We got some clues here tonight. But can I. Can I tell you. Listen, I don't want to. Like, I know everybody's down. Can I brighten the mood a little bit?
A
Okay, please try.
B
Listen, do your best, gang.
C
The Big Brother house has a time machine. Okay, what if they go back and they tell Rachel not to play Big Brother 28?
B
Listen or just not do the White Locust thing?
C
Oh, well, actually, tell Rachel not yet. Just to go first in the White Low. Even. Even better. But I'm telling you, there is a lot of Back to the Future. I've studied this film, and in this film they have a. They Have a time machine. And one of the main characters dies in the beginning of the movie and they give him a note. And by the end of the movie, he's back alive. I think we can save Rachel.
B
Let's do it.
D
I'm in the time machine buyback.
C
The buyback.
B
The buyback.
C
Yes, yes. They have to. If Rachel Riley can't be dead in Big Brother canon.
A
No, surely not. Right?
D
It does mean that in the next All Star season, they're gonna have to do a whole thing where they re. Or may. You know what? Maybe Zingbot. Maybe Zingbot will revive her at some point.
A
I think this season, like week seven, the veto is gonna get conducted from the. The jacuzzi time machine in the other room. And they're going to. The mission is save Rachel and bring her back alive. And Rachel will be back amongst us by the end of the season.
D
But Puya, if the. If it's up to the house guests, Angela's gonna sabotage that mission. Did you see how happy she was when Rachel dodged the last scene too?
A
That's the. Before credits rolled.
C
Was her pumping air? Yeah. Okay, so listen, it's weird, right? Well, that we had like a kind of a. Like, okay, this is fun. We had a lot going on. And then it's like, really? Taryn, why did they do this? Why was this the direction they went?
D
Rob, I don't know why they did this. I think that. I think that it was well intentioned. I do think that they're not exactly setting up whoever is replacing Rachel for success. If. If they're like really hyping it up this much. And then also like, oh, you don't get Rachel. You get this other person.
C
Yeah.
D
But I will say this, Rob, you know, you know me. You know, we've tried to get people into the show before as well. The premiere is usually pretty wacky, pretty silly. And I've always. I've always said, like, this is. This is stupid. This is ridiculous. Like, I. I get campy, but this is not that. It's not even good. It's just like slime or AI or whatever. I actually feel like they sold this one.
C
Yeah.
D
I. By the end, especially Julie Chen, I feel like Julie Chen landed ship with her deadpan. Rachel Riley just got pushed into a volcano by a velociraptor.
C
Yes.
D
And then. And then the. The time machine at the. I. I feel like they actually did something that was a little funny.
C
Yeah, it. It was wild. I was thinking of you, Taryn, because I know you're Always talking about how you, you talk to people and you tell them to watch the show and people tune in for the first night. And a lot of people I think must have been extremely confused about what this was because they really, when Rachel came in, I was like, okay. I think it's going to be like, okay, bazinga, got you. They let it go on for so long. Rachel in the diary room. Rachel confessionals. Melissa, I know that you are feeling some type of way about this.
B
Well, number one, just imagine somebody like reading Terrence book who like isn't super familiar with the show, but it's like, you know what? I'm like, I'm kind of interested. And they like read the book and they're like, okay, I'm going to tune in. Like, this sounds like a really good strategic game. I could really get behind it. And then they see this. This is what I don't understand. And look, I get the camp. I was totally on board with the camp with the whole, oh, we're traveling back in time and everyone's shaking the table and then we go to like 1986 or whatever and then we like go to, you know, and we have the mall person or whatever. Like, I can get into that stuff. That stuff I can get into. It's a little like, you know, it's a little much. It's silly, it's stupid, but I can get into that. But you get to the spot where like for like what felt like a five minute segment of Rachel going like with like a fake velociraptor, like, and now the houseguests like, what is happening? And then she's getting chased around.
D
She was Katy Perry with lyric on American Idol, literally.
B
So it was just, it just is like that to me was like too much. And I agree with Taryn. I think Julie did an excellent job. I thought the ending was really cute where she goes in there and she's just like, oh, I'm gonna like, let me solve this problem. And she's like, fixed it or whatever. And you've got like the Dr. Evil music in the background. Like, I liked that part. That part's fine. I like the time travel aspect. I like the costumes and the sets and the this and that and the other thing. I loved when they brought them to Fiji and did a Survivor esque challenge. Like, I thought that was really cool. They totally lost me on the dinosaur Rachel Riley thing. Like, they just completely lost me.
A
See, the thing is, I think it was more palatable to me after I realized, oh, the velociraptor isn't going to eat Rachel. I genuinely thought that's where we were headed. I didn't know how that was going to logistically work. So I'll take the pool of lava at that point.
D
It's the fact that you had enough time to go, oh, it's an. It's a dinosaur. It's going to eat her. Here it goes. Okay, it's getting closer. All right. It's making an attempt. How is this gonna work? It's. I guess it's not gonna work. It's just gonna chase her into the woods. No, it's chasing her up. Oh, she's gonna fall into the volcano.
B
Yeah. Too much time. If they had a big animated one, like, just come down over her, and then she should have just climbed the
D
volcano to give her speech and then have fallen. Like, if you needed the dinosaur, the dinosaur rush up.
B
You don't need a dinosaur.
C
Yeah.
B
Falls in a trapdoor.
D
Well, you might have needed a dinosaur.
B
Why?
A
What if.
D
Because wouldn't get Julie's line.
A
She's doing the speech by the volcano, and exactly. Of the volcano, there is a life vest, and she trips as she finishes her speech, but she can't grab the life vest. And then she falls into the pit a lot.
D
She's not a floater.
A
Exactly.
B
That's cute. That's cute. That's campy. I like it. I don't like the other thing. And I just want, like. I also want to say that I don't feel like this is good, like, vibes for casual fans watching the show. Not the dinosaur thing, but the fact that they brought in Rachel and everyone's excited about it being. I know my mom sitting there like, oh, my God, Rachel's back. She's gonna play again. And then she just doesn't play again and even dies.
C
Yeah. That's where I agree that, you know, I thought this was fun. I think this was memorable. I think they really went for it. So I have to applaud the SW swing. But I think that they could have done this in a way where it didn't make it seem like that Rachel was back and gonna play on this season. I think that people would be very excited about that. And then, like, I think that they could have just come up with some other, like, if they wanted in the fiction of the show, to have it be a thing where Rachel has died from falling into the volcano. Just don't tease people that she was gonna play this season. That's my one note on that.
B
Totally.
D
Yeah. I, I agree. I, I just, I do feel like for me it has unlocked something that, no pun intended, makes the, that makes this potentially work in the. I feel like Big Brother needs more like, like, like straight characters. Like, like, like Julie Chen playing it straight. Like the way that she, she read like just a moment ago. Like, I feel like too often everyone is being goofy and it doesn't feel like the show's in on its own joke, but when Julie is, is making it seem normal and, and newsworthy that it starts to, it starts to work.
C
Julie was great tonight. I don't know what they did. They upgraded the, the Chen bots software but she got a big upgrade.
B
She was so.
C
She was on fire tonight.
B
When she tells all the women, when she tells all the women that it's an all women's season. And I was like, just kidding.
D
I'm like, Julie, she loves her. Just kidding.
B
Yes, she does. Just kidding. I was kidding.
C
So she was great. All right. So that's one of the things that we have to talk about here tonight. We got two reality TV icons in Angela and Rick Devins entering the house. A third is a mystery will be revealed on Big Brother Unlocked. But we do have some circumstantial evidence. We saw it in the episode tonight. Julie Chen Moonvest said, I think I know what to do. She went to the timetable and entered the date. I believe December 20, 2023. I believe. And I remember where I was that night. I was doing the Survivor know it alls talking about the Survivor 45 finale.
D
Oh, interesting.
A
I wonder what that means.
D
It's 45.
C
Yeah. Who has anybody checked on Brandon Donlin?
D
It's Brandon Donlin. He's on the season.
C
Well, it's possible.
A
And he, he's the reason Rachel's not. Oh, Adam, Brandon.
C
Not cool. Not cool.
A
Not good.
C
Yeah. But you know who else is on Survivor 45 probably is Emily Flippin was on 45. Yep. She just played on. But also D. Vidaris also played in Survivor.
D
Nah, it couldn't be. D. That'd be, that'd be too. That'd be too good of a player for me to have drafted first on the draft. I mean that would be unfair.
A
Yeah.
C
So let's try to pivot to talk about. We had a format change here going into Big Brother 28 where only the three returning players are going to play in the HOH competition. The new players played for safety. What do we think about a three person HOH competition to start the season?
D
This is some friendship bracelet level advantage to These reality icons, they really, they really were like, the fact that there's three of you is not enough. We're not even just gonna give you safety. We also need to guarantee that you're in charge and not only guarantee that you're in charge of the first week, but make it clear to the other peons that they will have no chance of being in charge. That they must suck up to you from the moment they even conceive of your existence. The one of you will be the hoh. It's. It's pretty heavy handed.
C
Yeah. Yeah. I, I mean, I think that they're trying to stack the deck as much as they can for these returning favorites and that is definitely going to be the case for, for Jason, who that did. Did they give him Jason a choice about being a reality TV icon or was Jason always part of the second class citizens?
A
I don't think Jason got the, the upgrade ticket. I don't think Jason was allowed into the, the first class lounge here by the looks of things. But Jason has safety, so that's at least something Jason can hold. Because let me tell you, Rob, I was starting to get nervous for Jason when we kept seeing Jason be the one to be like, we cannot trust anything that man says. Like, she. Jason might not be wanting these returnees around. So I'm happy Jason secure some safety.
B
Yeah, yeah. It is funny because like yesterday during the draft, we were saying that Jason might have an advantage because he could connect with them over the fact that they've already been on reality shows. And then it turns out he's like immediately like, get them out. I mean, obviously it's just one sentence. Like he could be at the same time being like, hey, guys, we have a connection, so who knows? But, you know, it'd be interesting.
C
Zachary, you know, it's hard from the finale. If you remember last season at the end of the Big Brother 27 premiere, was it Jimmy that was like, we need to get out Rachel. And then the live feeds came on and like, me and Rachel are best friends.
B
Yeah, you can't really get a lot from this episode. Although we did get that what Drew is, is being annoying or they're annoyed by him or something. Or he talks too much. He won't stop talking. So what. Who knows if that's. If that's real. But that's like the one bit of info I feel like we didn't get really much. Any. Any other info aside from maybe some crushes, but no, nothing else really. It was more just like competitions, new people coming in, etc.
D
Yeah, I mean, I just, I was. I was blown away that we had two separate people, both of whom I was pretty high on in the preseason, who knew that only the three. Only these three people were going to compete for hoh. And the moment they walked into the house started with, that's the first person out. Don't trust these people.
C
What do you.
D
What are you. What are you doing? Come on. This is 101.
B
I especially feel like so far in the beginning before you know really how the whole house is going to shake out, like to start saying immediately like, we have to get this person out. It feels too soon. And I hate that whole idea of like, don't strategize too soon. But they're literally like at the table when they first arrive. And it's like you're saying it to
D
people who cannot win hoh.
C
It's too about people who can.
A
Yeah, that and I don't. Like, you don't know these people. Right. So the person you're ad libbing to like this could legitimately just go ahead and use it against you the first chance they get. You don't know them well enough.
C
So we saw Jason say it was it to Lyric. I thought it was Melody.
B
I think it was Lyric.
C
Was.
A
Was Lyric.
B
I thought it was Lyric.
C
Okay, I'll stand corrected. And Latrice also was the other person who said. I don't remember who she said it to.
A
She did say it.
D
Yeah.
A
Somebody's face.
D
I don't remember who seems to just whisper it.
B
Yeah, I thought it was just to everybody. Just like to the side.
C
Yeah. Okay, so we'll see if that sticks. If the returning players can win over the newbies at some point. It's also interesting that we got. I'm assuming this is going to be some kind of like physical competition.
D
The Volcano, if they're staying at the Volcano, perhaps. Yeah, Yeah.
C
I mean, I don't think we're gonna just like throw away that volcano set and not even do the challenge. And so I kind of like either Rick Devin's chances or the other returning players chances against Angela in the physical comp. The one in three shot.
A
Yeah. I'm not betting on Angela here, respectfully.
D
Almost seems like they really wanted a Survivor player to be the first hoh.
A
That's. You know what, it's a good point. That's a good point. You kind of. You're bringing them into this domain. You don't want them to look like failures immediately. You don't want that at all.
C
Yeah.
B
When Jeff came out and did that little, like, segment, I just kept thinking how cool it would be if we did a pure, like, half and half season of like, half Survivor people, half Big Brother people and just like, see who wins. I just feel like that would be really fun.
C
Well, this was a huge night that we got Jeff Probst on. On Big Brother, I believe for the first time ever and something I never thought I would see in all of my days, I guess that he officially gives the green light for Rick Devins and anybody else to play in Big Brother 28 somewhere. I think Carolyn's head is exploding as people are going on other shows. No issue from Jeff on this one. We see that he got a letter from Chuck that said, hey, can Rick Devins play in Big Brother in eight years? And Jeff's like, oh, yeah, definitely. I can see it.
D
So the weird thing about this is that Jeff then knew. He knew that Devins would be competing on Big Brother 28 before he cast him for 50.
C
Yeah.
A
What did. Did Drew call him Mr. Coin Toss? Is that his legacy now? Devin's?
C
I think that.
D
Well, you have to remember Drew was on Beast Games.
C
Yeah.
D
So it would be his first thought.
C
What would you think that he is more famous for? He's certainly not Rick from Georgia. Don't make that a thing. Big Brother social media. But what would you know him from?
A
I mean, wouldn't he be. I guess he'd be the. I mean, he'd be from Survivor, but then he's like the newscaster. That's kind of what I think of. I don't think the coin is his legacy, but to Taryn's point, the Beast Games contestant is the one that calls it that, so that's fine. Can I quickly stop on the Rick Devins thing? I saw a tick tock right before I jumped on here from Becca. Rick Devins's wife and Christian at their house. Taking over the Rick Devins fatherly duties has to be the first thing you talk about on the slop this week, Rob. It was so funny. It was so good. Rick is the. The dad that stepped up. Sorry. Christian is the dad that stepped up at this hour. And that was a phenomenal video.
D
You know what? I. Devin's gonna come back from time travel to find his wife.
C
Yeah. You know what I wouldn't like that trope is when I go on Big Brother and then, you know, a friend of mine stops to visit my wife.
B
That's what you want?
C
Yeah, that's what I would not want. But that's not how Christian is stopping it. Okay. But yeah. Jeff Probst, I believe now has completed the CBS host trifecta. Phil Kogan has appeared already on Big Brother. And so now Julie and Phil and Jeff have now all appeared on Big Brother, making it the first show that all three of the hosts have appeared on.
D
I do feel like Jeff has shown up before. I swear I remember him showing up at one point. But. But this. This has to be the most official capacity it's happened.
C
Yeah. Okay, let's talk about some of this time travel also.
D
We.
C
How about the young Angela?
B
I was so confused at first, but then once I understood it, I was like, oh, I get it. Because I was like, Angela was born in the 80s. I got so confused. I didn't realize they were trying to make that be Angela. I thought it was that they were just picking their birth dates. I did not get it. And then it clicked and I thought it was really fun.
A
So after young Angela, did anyone else start to feel their age a little when the other two time zones we traveled. Times we traveled to were 2010, 2018, and then Julie goes back to 2023. I feel like, aren't you many used to time like the. A time travel machine to go further back in time? This is a little too close for me.
B
And people were like, oh, I at
D
least 70bc not good enough for you, Puya.
B
That is pretty far back.
A
They fixed it.
B
Started saying that they were only born like the. The 2018 one. It was at least they were born during. Then I was like, oh, man. This is like everybody's. I don't know, everybody's very young on this cast. They probably wouldn't know what all these other dates were.
C
Sure. I thought that when they were going to go back to 2018 that they were going back to. They were going to go back to summer of Steve 2018.
A
A classic time.
C
A classic moment in time. Yeah, but I kind of thought that, like, oh, we said that they were gonna do like classic challenges. I kind of thought like, oh, are we doing like a challenge from Big Brother 20?
B
I feel like that would have been fun is to do like, if you, if you took. I think it would be really fun because I liked that they did the Survivor one for him. I guess they were trying to pretend it was Rachel, so maybe that wouldn't make sense. But I like, I would have liked how if they had done like a signature competition that that person competed in or something. I don't know. Or something that gave a vibe of that person. I don't know. If an 80s mall gave the vibe of Angela, I don't think I would have been able to guess it, but
D
Angela one should have been the spinny thing. 26.
A
Oh, yeah. Bring that back.
D
How, how. How did we miss that? It even fits. It could have been the time machine itself. It could have been, like, spin around.
B
People got so sick from that one, though. Although. Oh, my God. I cannot believe they slimed those people on premiere night.
A
You couldn't believe they good people.
B
No, I'm just saying their hair and makeup, like, everyone's trying to look nice, and then they make them sit with that slime forever afterwards and, like, come back in for the premiere. It's just. Look, as a girl, I would have been very upset if my hair and makeup had been just totally destroyed with slime, like, the first day I'm on tv.
D
It's the reason they make the show.
A
Yeah.
D
People, they wouldn't bother.
A
I mean, Jeff Probst in the new era talks about how you gotta get birthed into Survivor, go through the mud. This is how you get birthed into Big Brother. You get splash in the face with goo so hard that you're. That your goggles fly off your face. They're just gone.
C
Yeah. There's a lot of velocity on the slime, I have to say. It's a. It's. It's a lot.
D
It's.
A
It's. It's a lot. And it's a very heavy hit. Nah, it's too much.
C
It's a lot of sl.
D
They're competing with Love island at this point. They need to have the more. The higher velocity slime.
C
It's summer. It's hot out. You want clothes that feel cool and comfortable. You don't want to feel like you've gotten a punishment from a big Brother in the veto competition. You want some stuff that's easy, like these Quint European linen beach shorts that I have that I love that they are perfect for whether I'm podcasting or going out and going outside. I love it so much. They're lightweight, breathable, drawstring waist, relaxed fit, and they're very affordable. D
I am marrying a stranger like never before. Am I crazy?
B
It's a whole new Married at First Sight on Peacock. Thank God I woke with new experts. My name is Dr. Lisa.
C
My name is Paul Brunson.
B
More couples. This could be the start of a very successful marriage. And more surprises. Or maybe not.
D
Everything is just not enough.
C
You're a little bit crazy.
B
I don't know what's going to happen. I want my fairy tale ending. Married at first sight. Streaming July 12, only on Peacock.
C
Let's talk about. We were so surprised. The time machine was invented by Enzo. The Meow Meow Industries was here and is Taryn. Is that canon that Meow Meow Industries makes the time laser?
D
I mean, I. I guess it is. Now, this. This was one of the bigger misses for me.
A
What?
D
I just feel like Enzo had way too many lines.
C
They gave Enzo a lot of dialogue.
A
Yeah.
C
And, yeah, he did great. It was amazing.
D
He did manage to read them.
C
Yes.
B
That was the. That was the one part that my husband was listening in on. And he was like, I'm sorry, what are you watching? A cat. I was like. And then I had to explain that he calls himself the Meow Meow. And it was just like. I. It was very strange. I did like, though, that they made them pick him out of a bunch of guys on a picture or something. And no one. Some of the people didn't know what he even looked like because they didn't know who he was.
D
And so he didn't have his hat on.
B
Yeah. Like, he doesn't have a signature look. He's just in a lab coat.
C
Yeah.
B
So I thought that was a pretty good way to, you know, separate the fans from the non.
A
I do appreciate the continuity they use where this throwaway line they made Danielle use a couple of years ago, they then took and repurposed for this moment. I agree there was too much dialogue, but it's always nice to see some alumni back at it again. And I don't think I had Enzo on my bingo card whatsoever for the premiere of 28. So we'll take it.
C
No, I mean, what a. I feel
D
like there's a lot of alumni that could have ate this Up.
A
Well, naturally.
C
Yeah.
A
Yeah. If that much dialogue. Yeah. Enzo's not your word guy. No, absolutely not.
C
Yeah. We had a script tonight where we had scientist Enzo. We had young Angela. We had Rachel Riley being murdered by falling into lava. Like, they really. They threw a lot at us tonight. It wasn't just the people who got slimed, who got hit with a lot.
D
You know, I do appreciate the cameos. It's fun.
C
Yeah.
B
I like the idea that Big Brother alumni, like, want to come back or excited to come back on the show, because that's what you want to see is people who like the fandom build versus. Oh, they. Once they got off the show, they're like, get me out of here. So I do like that.
A
I do appreciate that. Big Brother recognizes that we can handle a lot. And they threw. Throw a lot at us here because from next episode on, they're going to repeat everything seven times in the episodes. Like, we're not gonna get it. So it's our one time. We get to get the most.
C
Okay. We talked about a lot of the window dressing here tonight when we go through the cast and then talk about our takeaways and our reactions based off of what we saw in the episod episode. I'll go by the order that they were introduced tonight. We got Ashley, and I thought it was kind of a down night for Ashley af based off of what we saw from her, from her bios.
A
What do you mean? Why?
C
She seemed like she wasn't that bright. I have to be honest. I felt like that she really was real nervy. Maybe too nervous. I mean, we did hear nervy.
D
Nervy.
C
Nervi.
D
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
B
She's just really nervy.
C
She's very nervy.
D
Somebody.
C
Was it Barrett that. Oh, yeah, she had a. She had a thing for Rome, but Barrett had a thing for her, so that seemed like some misconnection.
D
No, she has a thing for mustaches,
B
and Barrett does have a mustache. So, you know, we don't know. Yeah, could be a thing. But I. I do agree. I feel like I. And. And this could absolutely just be like, you know, premiere.
D
It's first impressions, whatever.
B
We don't know. But I was feeling in her when we initially saw her in the, like, reveal, I felt like she's turning it up for the camera. She's just being kind of, like, fake ditzy to kind of give this Persona. And then I feel like I'm not so sure it's totally fake. Yeah, I think it's. Might just Be how she is. I think everything was fine, but it made me a little nervous about her saying, I'm just going to pick random numbers. I don't know what they are. I'm not. I'm just going to, like, put them in and see what happens. And that was a little like, okay, so, you know, who knows? But I was seeing, like, I was thinking to myself, like, did I make the right draft pick when I was watching it?
A
Maybe it's just me. I thought she delivered the exact same personality that I saw in the, in the Broville. Maybe, you know, we're talking about. Maybe she's not as intelligent as we thought she may be. I don't agree. I think she is one of two people that was locked out of safety completely. She is definitely not the six foot six person who got locked out of safety. And I do think they're going to, like, I don't think she's gonna get punished for this. I think she can only go up from here. I think there's a lot of personality there. I think it's going to be fun to see her. I think the diary room, she was a natural in. I don't know. I'm high on Ashley. I'm still high on Ashley. So we'll see.
C
Okay.
A
Don't count on. I do.
D
I worry that as somebody that stood out as particularly bad at that competition, she could be in the pawn in the first week. Like, just somebody that you don't think is going to disrupt your plans by winning something.
A
Well, the people that could be deciding who goes up did not get to watch or know any of that.
C
True.
D
They'll hear about it, which is maybe worse.
A
How extensive do we think the retail? I guess they have nothing else to talk about. There's going to be like, It'll be
D
like she couldn't even figure out who Enzo was. She spent the whole time grabbing random things. She was the one of two people who couldn't do it. In fairness, Barrett's got height. That makes them seem more dangerous.
B
Yeah.
C
In fairness, the potential hoh does not know who Enzo is either. Could not pick Enzo out of a lineup.
D
Yeah, that might be relatable, but they did just look at him on the screen.
C
Yeah. Okay, let's talk about Latrice. Let's talk about Lala.
A
What's not to love?
D
I, I, I have high hopes for Lala, but like I said, the fact that she was to the crowd saying Angela is the first one out was. Was quite a flub in my eyes. Really. Like anybody who heard that if they are in any amount of danger and Angela is either HOH or allied to the hoh, why wouldn't they be like, yeah, well, did you hear about what Lala said about you, Angela? Did you hear about what Lala said about the returning players? And it's just like, oh, it's just such a simple thing to have not done. And I'm really concerned. I still believe in her as a personality, but that's not. That's not the start I would have wanted to see.
B
Yeah. Also her. Her confession or diary room or whatever where she was like, I. I want to be the only over 50 here. Like, I think that it's a benefit for her to have somebody else in the house that's older and not just, oh, she's the older person in the house. Like, let's get her out because she's older. It gives her more numbers, you would think. But the fact that she was saying she would want to get rid of anyone else that's over 50 is like, oh, maybe don't.
A
I think. Let me. Let me devil's advocate this a little bit. I agree. Red Flag should not have said that. I agree. However, she can't win, so she can't do anything with that. It could get back to the people and they could be looking for an easy person to put up and she could be deemed as an easy person to put up because of being older. I will say, though, regardless of all her mistakes, Lala's the reason I was middle episode. Wishing and hoping for my own time machine to travel forward 24 hours to just get to the feeds already. Because I was living for everything we were seeing from Latrice. And I'm honestly so excited to follow her into every room on the feeds and to get to talk about her on the live feed update. So my hope is that this foot mouth incident did not cost us Lala past week one, hopefully.
C
Yeah, it seems like a minor faux pas, but bad instinct, yes.
A
Defo.
C
Okay.
D
I mean, it's. It's minor unless it becomes major. I mean, it's. I would say this is a lot less minor than showering in the HOH room. You know what I mean?
C
Okay.
B
I also feel like it's like we only have little bits to glom onto for this premiere, so we have to take what we can get. Otherwise, you know, I don't know what to say about anybody, you know?
C
Okay. All right, let's talk about Lyric. I thought that Lyric had a strong night tonight. We got to see how Bubbly she is. We got to see her make fake phone calls as a lawyer. And she came into the house and we had even. Even. Was it not Mel? Mallory. Mallory wants to be best friends with her.
B
I liked that. I was actually very intrigued by that. I was thinking, like, if those two could team up, I could really get behind this. So I don't know. I, I, I'm hopeful, but we didn't hear anything from lyrics and like, oh, I really like Mallory. So I don't know what's gonna happen there, but I do feel like that could be a really fun duo if we can get that.
C
Yeah, if you say they get away from me.
A
Yeah.
D
The way they edited it concerned me because they at this point in time know more than we do.
A
Right.
D
It's been a few days in that house. And so the fact that they chose to edit it this way makes me concerned for Mallory that, like, they clearly wanted it to look a little creepy and like, the way she phrased, like, oh, I'll let her go talk to other people, but hopefully she'll come back to me. It was like, it was a little strange. It was a little strange. The hope would be, if you're a Mallory fan, that they really wanted her to be like, you know, like a Kelly type, like a goofball. And so they're gonna try to edit her that way regardless of what they're giving her. But, but the pessimistic view is they're get she's giving them what they.
A
So we talked about Mallory extensively on the draft, about how her social media presence is vastly different than this character we've seen on the Broville. And then we got the intro video tonight for Mallory. I now am more confused than I was yesterday because I didn't get. I, I did not. The Broville or Instagram could not have prepared me for the space themed bedroom set. And then the, what was it? Dinosaurs and tiki themed Dinosaurs.
C
Yeah. She likes to have themed parties with her friends. Puya, why are you making this weird?
A
Hey, I'm not yucking the yum, nor am I calling it weird. I'm just saying there's a lot going
D
on and I can't listen. Example of Instagram is not reality.
A
You did say this yesterday, famously. Yeah.
C
Yeah. Okay. Anything else about lyrics? She got very close to winning or safety, but she was, I, I was really impressed with her that she came in second but then acted very happy for Jason. I thought she did a very good job acting very happy for the person who won.
A
I, I'm curious if that was authentic or not, because Jason and I, me and Melissa believe Lyric was the one that Jason said. We cannot trust anything this man says. So I wonder if those two are actually really close or immediately felt like we can, we can hang out.
D
They're both performers, so it would make sense that they potentially gravitated toward one another.
C
Okay, let's talk about Melody. And we got to see a little bit more of Melody and her game show background. Not a lot about Melody in the house.
B
She gave the doctor about Drew being annoying.
C
Yes.
B
I thought her, her doctor was pretty interesting because it felt pretty real and not, you know, hi, I'm so excited to be in the booth, you know, so that, to me, made me interested in her.
D
They usually start that way and then they get coached over time.
B
But, you know, I, I could see that being her being kind of a, A more interesting character than I would have thought. I, I wouldn't love if she's just judging Drew for no reason. But, you know, we can't see, like, what's going on in the house. And so obviously they're gonna, I mean, I didn't get vibes that he was talking a lot, and then they, like, edited it after she said that, that to, like, show him just talking and talking. So I really don't know. We'll have to see how everything, like, shakes out on the feeds. But she seemed more interesting to me than she initially did.
A
Yeah, I, I can't. I left the episode feeling a lot more excited about watching Melody play the game. Also, I thought the doctor was fun, and I think there was a lot more personality here than what we got from the Broville. So, yeah, I think net positive for Melody, for me.
C
Okay, let's talk about Haley, somebody who we did not get a lot from from her package from the Broville. What do you think about Haley tonight?
D
I, I, I, I was thinking, I was like, is Haley gonna give us some Mackenzie comp energy? And she got to a Survivor themed challenge, and I was like, oh, here we go. All right, starting off strong. Let's see what kind of. Oh, not good. Not great.
C
Yeah, right.
D
Right away. Right away. Struggled. Did not seem to ever recover. Didn't seem to have much hustle. Perhaps not the comp threat that we thought or that I thought at least. But hey, it's early.
A
It's early. There's still plenty of game to log. All the game to go. Yeah, I, you know, for as much as everybody was an uptick for me so far, and I drafted Haley. Haley is on the exact same level I felt yesterday. I do not know what direction Haley's gonna go, so I'm lost.
C
Yeah. I feel like she has that Casey upside that we've been talking about where she is a softball player. I feel like any of these challenges that involve a ball might be good for her, but this one.
D
All in my hands, man. Just get a ball in my hands.
C
Yeah. These, you know, puzzle type, you know, making a bridge wasn't her thing.
A
No.
C
Horse grooming. That is her thing.
A
We did learn that.
C
Yeah.
A
Who knew?
C
Okay, let's talk about Taylor. I thought this was a good night for Taylor. I thought Taylor seemed like she had a little bit more than I thought on the Broville.
A
Yeah, I agree. Yeah.
D
Came in second place.
B
Yeah.
D
In the competition.
C
She is that girl, and she loves my friend Ian Terry. How about that?
A
I love that the editing on putting that in her welcome package felt off. The editing was not great.
C
I will say that my buddy Ian, he. He do be doing a lot of thirst traps lately that, like.
A
Yeah.
C
You know, we've known him a long time, but lately, like, he's this new.
D
Let me get my.
B
Yeah, man.
A
I mean, Rob, I remember the lead up to your season of the Traders, and everyone was like, did you see that photo of Ian at the hot tub? Like, everyone was talking about that hot tub. You have to be, like, a lot
C
of Instagram videos, like, with no shirt on and, like. Like, by the pool.
B
Oh, yeah.
D
All right, let's go.
C
That's right.
A
Hit the double tap on that so
C
we know it's real. Ye. So, I mean, listen, we get it. We get it.
D
We need more of it. Rob, keep it coming.
B
Yeah, I'm sorry. I'll stay muted. He broke into the room.
A
Okay.
C
All right, let's. We talked about Mallory. Should we get into some of the guys? Let's. Let's talk about Camus, who I thought had a lot of narration here tonight. I thought it was a good night.
D
Very much so. Easily the biggest narrator of the night, which I think tracks because I think he was one of the more natural people in the diary room so far.
C
Yeah.
A
You did decently. Well, he didn't do decently, but, like, he did have a big moment in that comp where it looked like he was gonna get the countdown, but then he fumbles last second. Yeah. I'm gonna be curious to see how he takes to the rest of the cast. I still can't put a finger on how I see him fitting and everything.
C
Yep. Listen, I can't Get Mac from It's Always Sunny Philadelphia out of my head when I see him.
A
Yeah, I'm glad I brought the same thing tonight. She hasn't watched the podcast, but she said the exact. She was like, she kind of looks like Mac. I was like, yeah, like what Mac wants? She was like, yes. I was like, melissa just said that on the podcast last night.
B
Okay. I'm so glad that I feel so validated, because when I told that to Dennis, my husband, he was like. He was like, I literally don't see it. He's like, I don't see that one bit. I honestly know. And I was like, look this. And I, like, showed a picture and then a picture, and he was like, no, no, they don't look anything alike. And I was like, okay, I must be insane. I said, you just.
D
He just couldn't say yes. Because of the implication.
B
Right? Because of the implication.
A
Elite.
C
Okay. So, yeah, I got a strong night for Camu so far. Let's talk about Drew, because Drew did get some negative content about him in the house. He came in that he is a super fan. He is, you know, very excited, has a nice family, but he comes into the house and he. We're getting a little bit of some super fan confessionals. He knows there has to be more people, but we're also hearing that he's annoying. And I have to say that I'm gonna co sign, because I can't believe this freaking guy gets into the house and he's telling people that he wants to conga line. What the hell, Drew? Conga line? Really? Night one, my guy.
A
Night one.
C
Come on. You think I need that?
D
How dare he?
C
Yeah. What are we doing?
A
Trolling.
D
He knew what he was doing.
C
Trolling, right? Taryn, have you ever seen.
D
According to the Instagram messages, he knew
A
exactly 100 hours of RGP content.
C
This is his Beat you1 conga line.
D
In the history of big Brother, surely not.
C
Yeah, not until out of here, Drew. Piss me off. Like, one team Melody.
B
Oh, my God. And we hate conga lines.
C
Yeah.
A
He's our diary room yeller of the season. He's loud in that room. Well, yeah.
C
Rick Devins in the diary room yet?
A
Yes. Rick Devin looks intense in the diary room.
D
Yeah.
C
Should we stop down on Rick Devins here? Yeah, I feel like Rick feels a little out of place in Big Brother. I'm not used to Rick in Big Brother yet.
D
It's so weird.
C
It is very weird.
D
It's. And it's like, the thing too, is that, like, with Siri she had done the traitors and then it had kind of been a while since she was on Survivor and so it felt like there was a transition period that. Where it kind of made some sense. But Rick was just on our screens like a couple of months ago on Survivor and so to see him here is so strange. It's so out of place.
C
Yeah, it really is. And he has a lot of confessionals about what it's like to be on Big Brother versus being on Survivor and it is just going to be like the pace of play. And he talked about it. I'm not sure if it was in the episode or if it was in the intro video that he put out where it's going to be hard for him because the. The game is so much longer than it is and Rick Devins is an impatient player in Survivor.
D
Right. It's. It's concerning. We talked about it on the draft.
C
Yeah.
D
Like, there's definitely some concerns for Rick, you know, if siree played super, super fast and hard. Dev, who's not even necessarily known for playing super, super fast and hard on Survivor, but Devin's who is known for playing hard and fast on Survivor. Coming to big Brother, it's good that he's aware he. That he. That this is massive change of pace. But. But it's one thing to know, it's another thing to like actually be able to do it.
C
Okay, we'll see. It's gonna be fun to watch the transition because I feel like that Rick Devins is not really an alliance builder either. Like, he like the way that you would most effectively play big brother is not how he plays at all. Yeah.
D
I think the closest we really saw was was on his starting tribe on 50. He did, you know, help create an alliance with himself, Christian, Emily, and then was able to kind of connect with Suri and Ozzy. But crucially, that wasn't a very locked in alliance. So Ri and Ozzy eventually left and did their own thing. He wasn't able to really hold on to it.
C
Yeah.
D
Which is a very key Big brother trait. Something that somebody like for instance, D is pretty good at.
C
I think that maybe the best or the closest he's come to this is maybe like starting in season 38 where he was on the in a group with David and Kelly and War Dog and Lauren and I mean, they voted together a couple of tribal councils before ultimately they voted him out when they got down to five. Yeah, it's not a great history of being in like a solid alliance.
D
He has been voted out three Times.
C
Yes.
D
In. In two seasons of Survivor.
C
Yes. So we'll see. We'll see if where Rick goes from here.
D
And, and I will say this too, if we're talking about Rick. It's, it's. Even though it was a bad move on Jason's part to do so, I think it's very bad news also for Rick that Jason does not want to play with him. Immediately felt the need to say, do not trust this man. That's bad because Jason was one of the people that I think Rick might have needed as a fellow reality contestant. Jason clearly keeping that to himself for now, it seems. But yeah, the fact that Jason might be trying to besmirch his name, that's. That's a bad enemy to have.
C
Listen, they could go for Rick Devins. They're playing right into his hand. That's right. That's what he wants.
D
There's no idols on Big Brother.
C
There's the veto. There's a blockbuster.
D
But Rob, every. I noticed this. I don't know if you guys. Every single intro, almost every single intro had somebody talking up their athletic abilities because it seems that the show is even aware of it now. Athletic ability is extremely important on Big Brother and now if you want to be on the show, you'd better be athletic and you'd better boast about it in your interviews because I think they're casting for more athletic people. They, you know, my critique on equitable comps was always make the comps more equitable. But if you can't, if you really can't do that, at least cast more athletic people. I think they've gone in that direction.
C
Not for anything. Rick Devins, he didn't win any individual immunities in season 50, but he won I think like maybe three in Survivor 38. And he is good at sort of like these like carnival game type challenges. So he may win some challenges here.
D
Rick Devins, you would hope. He said he was going to try, which I appreciated that, like he was like, I might as well just start winning competitions and hope you keep winning competitions. You know, I would hope that he unders. That He's. He perhaps understands that it's pretty important to do so.
C
Yeah.

A
Yeah, I think extremely liked. And I very much am happy that Jason is one of the people safe for the week because I would have been concerned that Jason could have been with a three person block. Jason could have so easily ended up a casualty of that this first week. I'm so happy Jason's safe.
B
Yeah, I'm excited to watch Jason play. Like, I feel like also he's gonna be really fun and funny, so I don't want him to be one of the first out. So I am definitely glad that he's. He's safe.
D
Yeah, I agree. I mean, I think that the fact that he was all again, already talking about the returning players, given that one of them must be the hoh. He would have. If I were one of them, he would have been on my radar as somebody who's like, absolutely capable of rounding up new players to come against us. And so I think this is a very good safety to win for sure.
C
Do you think that he has it as like a chip in his back pocket if he ends up in sort of like hot water with any of the returnees to like, say, hey, I'm a return. Like, I. I'm a reality TV vet myself.
D
Rob, of course he's friends with Frankie Grande. He knows the. I'm a media mogul. Yeah, sorry. Social media mogul. Hard to play.
C
It's a good point.
D
He's ready. That's the Frankie Playbook. He's go. He's playing. He said he was going to play the Frankie playbook. He's gonna play with dudes and he's probably gonna whip out the. The card when he needs it.
C
Okay, let's talk about Rome, who we talked about a lot on the draft on Wednesday night, but that Rome came in and had a pretty positive night on night one.
D
I'm gonna disagree. Yes.
C
Talk it through.
B
Didn't even get to say, I think that.
D
Yeah, I think in the house. Yes. But Rome, the man who, if you didn't watch our preseason content, introduced himself in the. In. In the video intros preseason by saying that he gets along real well with betas and submissives. I was like, okay, I'm ready to hear that again. But instead, he came at me with a different intro that grossed me out in a different way when he said, yeah, a lot. I train a Lot of ladies, and sometimes they get a little flirtatious with me. So.
C
Yeah. Who was this woman that was filmed in this? Is this a paid actress? Like, how does this work?
A
I hope so. I hope this wasn't, like, someone actually in his. In his realm.
B
Somebody was actually paying for a lesson.
A
Like, right, I've got compensated.
C
What woman is gonna pay this man
D
for lessons after he says that on national television? That's weird.
C
That is weird. I. I think this must be, like, an actress or an extra that they have. Right.
B
Probably a production assistant. Right.
D
Like, I guess, to be fair, maybe. Maybe Ashley would pay for those lessons.
C
As is possible from a mustache man.
B
Yeah, I thought that, like, he came across. I. I thought he came across better. Obviously, that was, like, a very strange moment. But you know what?
C
That wasn't in the game.
B
Yeah. I take this all with a grain of salt because, you know, I just keep, like, remembering back to Andy Heron talking about how he did. They made him do that weird dance, like, on the sidewalk, and he was like, I don't know. They just told me to do a weird dance here. So I just feel like somebody told
D
me to say, you know what? The ladies that. That I coach up for Big Brother, they really. I feel like. I'm sorry.
B
Then they'd be like, we're taking your key back.
D
Feel, like, good.
C
Yeah.
B
I don't know. I just feel like those intro videos are always just, like, so staged and so fake, and I don't believe anything that the people are saying. And so I. I'm. I. At least he didn't say the betas and some business thing again. I guess that's good.
C
Yeah.
A
I just knew we weren't gonna get that run back. Like, I was like, that was a one and done. That's not gonna get replayed here,
C
Right?
A
Yeah, I. With Taran, I think in the house, he'll probably be fine. And he did secure safety.
D
Safety.
A
Which I think furthers the script, the plot armor. Because we know that as long as he's there. And him and Angela haven't argued yet. Angela's not leaving. That is going to happen. We just have to wait for it.
C
Yeah.
A
And he has safety now. But I don't know. There were moments with him that I was like, oh, he's gonna do well, but, oh, that I'm going to be rooting against him. Which I'm not necessarily mad at mine.
C
I mean, like, when he stacked the thing and then turned around and didn't look at it for the 10 seconds he pulled.
A
What was the name of the guy. And this is awful because this was just two seasons ago. David, the dude with the chocolate milk from season 48. When he got up, when the vote out happened, it was that he hit that pose. He hit the David. He hit the David. The first day there, the first challenge,
D
I. I thought he was going more for, like, a Keanu. Like, he's trying to have, like, these, like. Like aura farming moments.
A
Yeah, he's trying to. Or if we get out of here.
C
Oh, a lot of the audience really likes that. Yeah.
A
I mean, they do.
D
The key, though, is that you have to be an underdog. You can't. Or a farm as a. As an. As an overdog.
C
Yeah.
A
No, A night. One win also. And. And hitting that. You know, we talk. We just talked about how could Ashley be in trouble for finishing last? Could Jason be in trouble for saying that thing? Do we think the other three, like.
B
Yeah.
A
And then he just stood there stoically like he just climbed Everest for 10 seconds while the counter went down.
C
Like.
A
And he's jacked. So listen, let's do that later.
D
To be fair, I do after every podcast go. I mean, you guys see it every time we end.
C
Yeah. It's over. Yeah.
D
Yeah.
A
I hit that pose while I'm waiting for my dinner to get heated in the microwave. Like, I did that. That was. It was all me. I was all me.
C
Okay, how about Barrett, who was somebody we talked a lot about also on Wednesday night here he came in. Pretty good start, I thought.
D
Well, aside from losing, being one of two people to lose the first competition.
C
That's true. He did know who everybody was of the returnees, and we found out that his favorite player is Angela. And I thought he was going to piece it together when he got the birth date, but he's so excited that Angela's here. He seemed thrilled that Rick Devins is here, so I think he's going to do a good job of kissing up to the returnees.
D
You should hope so. Yeah. He in a good position with them being guaranteed in hoh.
A
Yeah, that's good. I am nervous because I saw the way this man was looking at Ashley and I saw the way Ashley was not looking at this man. So, yeah, that distraction could be real.
C
Unrequited.
D
A minion situation.
A
Listen, he might love the color yellow. I don't know. We'll find out shortly. We'll find out in the future.
D
Okay. So I was talking about JC actually, but that's also. That also works.
C
Go back to 2018. Okay.
B
He's gone.
C
He. Puya has fallen into the volcano. You pushed him. Okay.
A
Velociraptor could hold me down. I'm back.
C
Yes. Okay, let's talk about Chuck. Winner of safety.
D
Winner of safety. Love it for Chuck. I. I was. I was very endeared by Chuck's intro. He what? Now? What I will say is, in Chuck's preseason stuff, he said, he gets along with women.
C
Yeah.
D
In his intro package on the show, he said, I get along with women. And then when he was introduced self to fellow contestants, he said, I get along with women. And I'm hoping that that's the last time we hear him say it, because I really don't want him to keep repeating it over and over.
C
Say something else that I thought was odd about the women. He said this. Every single lady in here. Oh, my gosh. They are all beaut pool, and they're all from different states, so they kind of bring a different, like, twang to them that I need to explore.
B
I was so confused.
C
Yeah.
A
Have you never tried to explore some twang, Rob? Is that what you're telling me?
B
Oh, God, yeah.
A
I don't know what he meant by that.
D
It's, like, sweet. He seems sweet. He seems kind of, like, nerdy in a. In. In. In like. Like a cute way for being such a big guy to the point where I'm, like, I'm actually concerned that he's not gonna be social enough. And that's kind of where I'm coming from with, like, you know, it's. It's just a. It's a little strange, I think, to introduce yourself to people and be like, I get along with your kind of people the most. Like, you know, so I think that he just might. He might be socially awkward, but. But in a way that I feel like he might be a rootable character. And I. I love that he's safe, because that's going to be, I think, great for him. He's shown that he's good at competitions, and so people might be. Instead of feeling like, oh, he's maybe a little dorky and he's a physical threat, you know? You know, maybe this is a good, easy person to put on the block early on. They might instead feel like, oh, he's safe for the first week. He's good at winning competitions, and he's nice and he's friendly. Maybe he's somebody I can pull in. So I think this is a great win for him.
A
I think it's gonna be very endearing. That's kind of the read I have on him right now. And the one thing I think by the end of the episode I learned was that I think he gets along with women. So I've picked that up now as well. Yeah.
D
I don't know how you found that out, but okay.
A
I could read sometimes.
C
And then we had finally Yash. Yash, the financial analyst, by the way. Yes.
D
Sorry to interrupt. Is a crypto bro. How did I know? First. First thing out of his mouth when he talks about time machine. Oh, man. Wish I could go back and buy some bitcoin.
A
I.
C
How did I know? Is he talking about cold showers?
D
And I was like, crypto bro.
B
You can just tell. You just tell. His haircut was not what I was expecting.
C
What were you expecting?
A
It looked like reveal. I didn't see the back.
B
Yeah. Oh, my God. Did you guys not see a big, wide mole in the back?
D
But it's not going too much lower.
B
I think there's three mullets in the house. I'm like, if I. I would have thought this was the 80s or something had I not known I was a little bit.
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
I. Well, yeah, I don't. I was very. I mean, is that in now? I guess the molds in. It's not. It was me, I'll say that.
D
But mullet at this point is probably on its way out.
B
Well, they all have it, but, yeah, he has a big, giant mullet in the back.
A
I think looking and getting to meet Yash. I don't know why I feel this way. Maybe one more episode and some feeds can change my mind back to where it originally was. I think I feel a little more optimistic on Yash moving forward than I may have yesterday.
C
I don't remember him doing anything else besides coming into the house.
A
Not really. But that's a good thing, I think, because I thought he was good.
C
Like, I think he found the last thing for the competition.
A
Yeah. Because Drew was giving a lot of Energizer Bunny and, like, a lot rapid. And I think Josh was giving me that energy, but in a bro way in the reveal. But he was a little bit more calm, which I think is good for him. We'll see if that calm prevails. We'll find out.
C
We didn't talk too much about Angela and her arrival into the house. How do you think Angela's fitting in?
D
She clearly has some fans. She was extremely concerned about Rachel coming in. I don't know if that's, like, a specific personal relationship thing or if she genuinely didn't want another big Brother player. I think if. If we're looking at it like, personal relationships aside, Rachel being in would have been phenomenal for her, another big character, big brother player to bounce off of. Perhaps there's something between them that I don't know about. But like I was saying was I was confused at her reaction.
A
I remember her being joining YouTube for an eviction recap last season. I do not remember her thoughts on Rachel then because I'm very curious if she just found Rachel to be threatening or just did not want to cohabitate the same space. But she seemed very relieved that Rachel was out.
C
It might just be. And I didn't really catch her having any weirdness towards Rachel, but maybe it's like, okay, she's been following the rumor mill. Rachel wasn't in there. Did she feel like lied to at all? Maybe that, like, did she ask Rachel, are you gonna be on the season? And Rachel said no. Maybe she was.
D
Maybe she was told by production, you're the only big Brother player.
C
So maybe there was something there with like that she was not expecting. Expecting it based off of any sort of, like, pregame rumors that she had. So she felt maybe weird about it.
D
Very possible. But I would say otherwise. I think she's in a good spot. Again. The fact that her Rick or a potential D are the only people that can win HOH is phenomenal. There's not really any reason why the other two would want to put her on the block or put her in any danger, I think, in any way in this first week. Which means she's going to be one of the safe people, but also not the. Not the threat of the three people. Probably the least threatening of the three people. On top of that, she has fans. So I think she's actually very well positioned here in terms of, you know, where she stands in the house.
C
She was very excited to meet Rick Devins.
D
Yeah.
C
So we'll see how she fits in with the other Survivor. Will she. Will she potentially get along with D?
B
I'm getting some feedback from my parents.
D
Yeah, Just watch the episode.
B
So the casual correspondence. My mom says my dad loved Big Brother tonight. He said it was crazy. I've never seen him so animated about the show. It was crazy fun and cool time machine stuff. Yeah. My mom says looks like a fun cast, but boo about Angela. Dad was shocked. Rachel was back on. I was skeptical, thinking it was a hoax and I ended up being right. But Angela needs to go. Dad says Angela needs to go into the volcano.
C
Oh, yes. Very, very sad news. We would Hear, just moments ago, a
D
velociraptor threw Rachel into a volcano. So what does it mean for the others,
C
by the way?
B
The casual fans are not fans of Angela, apparently.
D
Oh, that's always been the case.
B
Yeah. I mean, yeah. Oh, well, yeah.
D
Casual fans don't know what's good for them.
B
They don't know exactly. That's good.
C
She has good heat. She gets people like, I gotta see what she's gonna do next.
B
Right. Like, it's exciting. It's fun. Yeah.
A
Well, in the preseason, Julie had said something about controversial houseguests, and I thought. I think she means polarizing. Angela is the poster for polarizing. Like, truly, you get people who love her and people who cannot stand her, and that is a very fun person to have in the mix.
C
Yeah. Did Angela grow up in California in the 80s? Were they taking any artistic liberty? I thought that she is from Utah.
D
Right.
C
Did she grow up as a valley girl?
D
Not that I'm aware of.
C
And work at the Max from, say, by the Bell?
D
I think if they really wanted to make this accurate, she would have had some charcuterie, you know?
C
Yeah.
D
Like, who knows? Apparently, she did grow up in California.
C
Okay, there you go. Now, she ripped up the letter at the end of where. Where Rome gave her the letter. She ripped it up.
B
Up.
C
We didn't see where she taped it back together.
B
Good point.
D
Yeah.
C
Because she must have. I guess she must have. Okay. Anything else from this wild night of Big Brother?
A
So I was sent a photo by one Taylor Allen, and I can send this to you, Rob, if you want to, like, put it up on the. On the page. Does this power of veto that I'm about to send you look like a silver power of veto?
B
Yeah,
D
the. The veto very much looked silver. It is. Yeah. I think possible that it was just the lighting because there were some, like, lighting effects going on. But it certainly looks very silver.
C
Here we go. Which is a silver power of veto
D
that is, of course, very relevant if you are a more recent fan or really, quite frankly, if you didn't watch. 25 years ago, the veto was originally introduced as the silver power of veto. You could not play it on yourself. You could only play it on some else. And then it eventually became the golden power of veto that Marcellus decided not to use on himself. But. But, yeah, silver. Silver veto is. Is interesting. If it truly is silver, I would assume that, you know, it's. I don't know. It's. I think it's possible. It's just the lighting, though.
C
Yeah.
A
Is It.
C
I'm trying to think of why they would even want that. They feel like with the blockbuster, is it like that you have an opportunity to get off the block on. On Thursday.
D
It never really made sense as a thing you could only use on someone else.
C
Yeah.
D
If it was silver, I would. I would assume it's just a design change, but, you know, it's. It's probably just the lighting, but, yeah,
C
I think maybe Marcellus will do a guest comp.
B
That'd be fun.
C
What about the eras that are up on the walls? Is that going to be like the theme to certain weeks? Weeks, or does that. Should we be looking into that in any way?
A
Well, now I'm like, was the 80s just the Angela thing? Like, did we already see that? Where now we did see, like, a dinosaur? Was that the Jurassic era? Because really, I remember ancient Egypt, we've not hit yet. But have the. Those. The others count as what we saw on the wall already, or are those still to come? This was a snippet.
C
Unclear. Okay.
A
Yeah.
C
All right. Any other thoughts from the premiere?
D
I was intrigued when Julie said not only tune in tomorrow night for the, you know, the reveal of what she did in the time machine, but also that the live feeds would start immediately following the episode of Unlocked tomorrow night. Big Brother, famously not very prompt with their live feed start times. So I'm skeptical. But. But it was very pointed language. And so I would hope also that that means that there has been news about this season that the live feeds will be free on YouTube. Live streamed after. Right after the episodes. So if this is precedent for how they might do that, it. It. It's perhaps a good sign that those feeds will start immediately following episodes.
B
But to clarify, they. They're. They're only streaming for, like, a little, like an hour.
D
Yes. We don't know how long. Yeah. But the idea would be for free for a little bit, we'll start streaming on YouTube, and then at some point, it will be like, all right, now, if you want to keep watching, tune
C
in on Paramount plus.
A
Gotcha.
D
But it'll be following every episode. So that's so fun. The hope is, I think for people who watch the feeds regularly is not necessarily like, oh, I'll watch an hour or two of it on YouTube. But that the fact that they're doing it means that they might be more prompt about returning the feeds after the episodes.
A
Right. Especially on. For us on Thursdays after the eviction. That's going to be massive.
B
Yeah. You want to see that? Yeah.
A
Immediate reaction.
B
Yeah, that's exciting.
C
Do we have any predictions to preview Big Brother Unlocked tomorrow night?
A
I have a question.
C
Yes.
A
So remind me. So December 20, 2023, when season 45 concludes. That's not when they were in Fiji, right? That was when the episode.
C
That's when the episode premieres. Yes. Yes.
A
So where is Julie going? To the watch party.
C
Watch party in Los Angele with the producers of the show. So maybe she crashed that party.
D
Yeah, listen, in the world of tv, it doesn't. It's not real until it. Until it airs. So in the world of Big Brother, she won on that night in Fiji.
B
Yeah, right, I see.
A
So in that, in this canon, we believe Julie's gonna end up at Final Tribal. Like, that's where she pulls up. Okay, cool.
C
Yeah.
D
Maybe on a motorcycle. We'll see.
A
She brings over the pizza and the champagne while they're talking about stuff.
C
I don't think we're going to see where Julie went. I think we'll just see this person show up in the backyard.
A
I think so.
C
Yeah. I think we're gonna yada, yada.
D
If we don't see Julie at tribal, I'll be disappointed. I'll say it.
C
Yeah. I think we will definitely get a draft tomorrow night on Unlocked. I think that's definitely happening.
D
Yes.
A
That's a great pick.
D
I think we'll probably. We'll probably see the travel through time to some degree.
B
Yeah. Test out a little thing.
C
Yeah.
A
Do we think. Because Jerry o' Connell is going to be a permanent co host.
D
Right.
A
Is he going to have a Team Blank T shirt on? Is he about to hard stand somebody? Was that Taryn? Do you use a whisper? Sliders.
D
Yes.
C
Yes. Well, sliders, they travel to different universes, but not really through time.
D
I know, but he could still use the remote. You could just say that it got broken, you know, that he can't find home, but now it's traveling through time instead. That probably an episode anyway. Sliders.
C
Yeah. So, yeah, we'll see. I'm trying to think of who would be. Is there a breakout character yet for Jerry to Stan?
A
Well, famously, team Keanu. We did say that Rome pulled a very Keanu move here. Could be. Could be drafting Rome first overall for all we know.
D
Listen, it's. It's early to take out your stand card. That. That is a rookie mistake.
B
We don't know anything.
C
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
C
Okay. All right. So tomorrow night we will have Big Brother Unlocked. We will have a podcast after. We'll see if there are also live feeds happening at that time as well, so be on the lookout for that on Friday night. And then what else do we have coming up? We've got. We announced it last night. We informed the patrons earlier today. Rahabcon 2026 is happening. It's going to be in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, August 26th to the 28th. We will have live podcasts, we will watch Big Brother together, We will play games and so much more. At the first, we're bringing Hapcon back. First time in nine years that we've done rahabcon. And we're going to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Find out on all the details over on Patreon, where we will have so much Big Brother content for you. Coming up, we will be live after Big Brother Unlocked. Chappelle will be with us tomorrow night to talk about the season premiere of Unlocked over after the episode. I will be doing the Big Brother Q and A coming up on Friday at 3pm we could talk about Big Brother, whatever's on your mind going into our first week of the new season, plus the slop coming up on Monday for patrons only as well. And then, oh, Love Island. Last night we talked about a crazy night over at my house where I broke down everything going on in the world of Love Island. And then, Puia, what's going on over on the Palace?
A
So this photo is from last week's episode. This week, as I mentioned yesterday, we, me and Liana sat down, I introduced her to the cast of Big Brother for this season, made her guess everyone's name, age, occupation. She got one completely right. She fumbled all the other ones. That's going to be dropping later tonight slash tomorrow morning. So be on the lookout for that.
C
Okay? All right. Well, what a night we had here. Some sad stories, some things that are exciting, but a Big Brother premiere that none of us will ever forget. How you hold it up, Melissa.
B
I'm very excited for the live feeds to start. That's just like what I'm excited about. I. You know, the premiere is always, it's always exciting because you've got everything happening and you're getting introduced to all these new people. But the real start is the live feed. So that's what I'm looking forward to.
C
Okay, one more sleep for you, Melissa. Okay, Puya, what else is going on for you?
A
Well, I'm going to be talking about Big Brother extensively, practically everywhere you can find me. So on all socials, at Puyaism on Twitch. Puya, My Puya Friday is getting infiltrated, Rob. I usually stream the pad on Friday nights, as you know. Tomorrow night, the Pad is going to be feeds edition. Feeds are going to be going live around the same time. So I'm going to be parked, I'm gonna have an energy drink ready and I'm just gonna watch that with people, so come check that out. And then Annabelle and I, despite our big time differences, are coming together to catch up on six weeks worth of 90 day to get everything back on track on the Hot Mess Express. So be on the lookout for that. And in less than a month, Rob Australian season three of the Traders is coming back and Annabelle and I are ready for that geared up also. So get in the reps in it.
C
Okay. All right, looking forward to that. And then Taryn, of course, it all starts for you tomorrow.
D
Yeah, no more sleep for me. Live feed updates will start Saturday, so stay tuned for that. With the live feeds coming up tomorrow night, I will be streaming on Patreon. Patreon's the. The. The. The best place to catch my streams nowadays, though it is still all in the regular places as well. But I'll be streaming one of the. The episode's gonna be on, the feeds are going to be on. I'm not going to stop. It's going to go for a full 24 hours as we find out everything going on on these live feeds. So tune in for that and tune in every morning for the live feed updates. That's, that's pretty much what I've got. I also want to say that if you, if you're fully out of the Big Brother sphere during the off season, unfortunately, Mickey from last season did pass away over the. After Big Brother 27 ended. And so I just want to bring her up. We saw that at the beginning of the episode and, uh, always very sad when something like this happens. And we wish, you know, her family and everyone who was close to her all the best.
C
Yeah, uh, very nice, uh, tribute to her at the start of the episode, uh, tonight. All right, thank you all so much for being here with us live. Great turnout for the first premiere episode recap of the season. Or probably the only premiere recap of the season, but the best one, I'm sure. And so make sure you're subscribed and ready to go all season long, of course, here on YouTube and in your podcast feed as well. Thank you so much for joining us.
D
Take care.
C
Have a good one. Bye.

A lot of folks listen to Robbins podcast because they want to get smarter about Survivor, but when you want to get smarter about your money or your time, you got to check out all the hacks the host is named Chris Hutchins. He's a financial optimizer, not like Emily flippin. He sold two companies. He traveled to over 60 countries, mostly for free, racked up millions of rewards points in every week. He breaks down exactly how he thinks about getting more out of life without spending more to do it. It's one of those shows where you finish an episode and immediately want to change something. Two episodes worth your time. The BB28 premiere recap kicked off with the RHAP panel reacting—half in shock, half in hilarity—to one of the wildest and most surprising Big Brother openings in history. The main theme: “What did we just watch?” as dinosaurs, time travel, surprise deaths, and Big Brother legend Rachel Reilly’s dramatic (and possibly temporary?) exit set the tone for an over-the-top, camp-heavy new season. The panel navigates through the chaos of new twists, returning players, heavy use of nostalgia, and an utterly unpredictable narrative.
