Welcome back to why Blank Lost. I'm David Bloomberg and with me is my co host, a man who needs no further introduction because Derek Levasseur introduced him to the wider Big Brother world on Unlock this week. It is the famous Chappelle.
Chappelle
Thank you so much, David. I've been so embarrassed by these last 24 hours. It's been crazy. Yeah, that was wild. That's the thing that happened for sure. But I'm very much happy to be back talking to you about Big Brother and all the things that don't actually involve me. Let's talk about these players.
David Bloomberg
Well, before, you know, before we do that, we have to have A plan for next time because we want Eric to mention this podcast as well as your Unlocked recap. The only problem is it probably doesn't help that I live posted that Derek needs to pay attention because he said something that was completely wrong during another part of Unlocked. So we just have to make sure he doesn't see that.
Chappelle
Yeah, he might not love that, but yeah, I don't. I don't mind him. Like, maybe next week they say, oh, yeah, there's another tweet for Chappelle. Go check out his YX lost coverage with David Bl. Like that. Yeah, David. Yeah, like we could like slip you in there and then that way we get some attention on the podcast and then we can then say how wrong Derek is at that point. You know, once people are more eyes are on it, he's gonna. He doesn't even know he's sending people over here for us to drag him. But no, I. I really appreciate that. Was so kind. And Taylor and I guess Jerry Oconnell, he doesn't know who I am, but the other two, they. They kind of know. I think Taylor knows who I am, Derek knows I exist. And then Jerry, ok, was like, who? And so, yeah, for all the people who has said so many nice things to me, that was. That was so dope. Thank y' all so much. But I. I'm still in shock, David. I did not know it was happening. I. I almost missed the whole moment anyway, and so thankfully the Internet is forever and someone sent me the clip.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, yeah. Taylor knows who this podcast is because she listened after she won and, and messaged me. And so, you know, she knows we've just gotta, you know, find a way for. For them to mention it. And, you know, if they were going to give us a shout out, then they would say, well, in this podcast we will look at how things flipped over to Lyric to Lyric leaving by examining her situation the way we always do, by comparing her gameplay to a set of guiding rules. I originally wrote way 2004 and have modified ever since. And of course we'll analyze her actions using what we saw on tv, live feeds, interviews and other information. Do you think we can get them to say all that?
Chappelle
I think. I think so. I think so. Let me tweet it out and we'll see if the. If the well or skeet it out. Let me put on Blue sky and see if the power that be catch it.
David Bloomberg
I'm not even sure who's looking on Blue sky because the official Big Brother account left this year. So Someone is still doing it.
Chappelle
Maybe.
David Bloomberg
Maybe the intern who handles those things is, like, I'm not being allowed to post there, but at least I can still look there and grab some screenshots from there.
Chappelle
Yeah, shout out to intern Andy for doing that work for us.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. But before we get to talking about Lyric, because, you know, it is interesting that during the last episode where she was there, she was crying and said, I don't want to be here anymore. And, well, she got her wish. But before we talk about that, we always have other things to discuss about the week in general and what a week it has been. It truly seems like ages ago when we had a mass delusion about Drew having a coin flip power and not using it. Like, I had so many notes about how I was going to blast Drew if that happened. And thankfully, it wasn't real. But so much has occurred since then. But even though the world of social media was wrong about that particular aspect of Drew's game, he was still an important point of conversation. You know, last week, we talked about his game starting to sink. And what happened? Well, he was the main target for most of the week and had absolutely no clue. His denial was epically over the top. And I had a whole video about it analyzing his psychology to go through this all. And you could find that on my TikTok, YouTube and Instagram, of course. But he was like basically the dog in the meme saying everything is fine while the world burned around him. I don't have the dog. I have the emotional support. Dumpster fire. Crochet. Crochet.
Chappelle
Yeah.
David Bloomberg
Yes. It says it's fine. It's fine. Everything is fine. So, yes, this was given as a. My wife is a kindergarten teacher, and she got this as a gift from a student, which.
Chappelle
It's a good gift.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, it is.
Chappelle
It is.
David Bloomberg
So, you know, even when Mallory told Drew he didn't have the votes, he. She's just out of the loop. She doesn't know anything. And it's like, oh, my. But since he stuck around, he still has no idea how close he came to having a horrible blind side that. Unlike the one we did see the one that gave us this picture. See, that's our reaction here, laughing at this awesome picture of Haley. And also, you've got D looking as well right there, but acting. Yes. Yes. If it had been a blind side of Drew, we would not have been laughing. We would have been like, oh, ouch. Oh, that's painful. So, yeah, now he's in. Oh, go ahead.
Chappelle
No, I was thinking I Might have laughed, David. I might have laughed. I think, I think, I think at some point you got to embrace the, the chaos of Big Brother, you know, the ups and the downs and so, yeah, it might not be your fave all the time, but at some point I started, I started thinking throughout the week that at first we were, it was like a slow moving train wreck, right? Like, it was like, oh, damn, Drew, do something. Drew, do something. Get out the way. You don't see the train coming. Like, oh my God. But then by like Tuesday, I think some of us had resolved. Like you said, you had already started your notes about how this, this guy was going to lose. I think we had resolved to being like, well, he brought it on himself and so I think we were all going to be sat for whatever the blind side was. I just think we got a different blind side than we were expecting.
David Bloomberg
Yes, exactly. And you know, now there's a whole new landscape that's forming. But since he still doesn't know what happened, they could easily flip against him again. And I, I just don't know that he's any readier for it now than he was beforehand.
Chappelle
My issue with Drew, and I think you've, you've alluded to this a couple times how you say you, you, like sometimes you'll say, oh, I need to update my rules for big Brother. I think there are some very specific things that you should just know as like shorthand. These are just basic big Brothers. You know, it's like with survivors, like look for an idol, you know, like that should be pretty self explanatory, you know, like if you're in the woods, just put your hand in a tree, see if you can find them. It's not something you guys spend a lot of time on, right? But when it comes to like Big Brother, there's something to be said about the idea that people feel so comfortable with their ally calling them upon. Your ally should not be calling you upon it. That does. Those two things don't align. If your ally is calling you upon, that's not your ally. That's, that's a person who thinks you're expendable. Just like I don't know when you, when you are going to update the rules, but just like, I mean like, it's like, it's like before you get to David's rules, you should at least understand that there's an HOH competition every week. There's a veto competition every week. You know, there's a nomination ceremony every week. The eviction show is Live. Don't be a pawn for your ally. You know, that should just be in basic Big brother fashion. Everybody should know that. Because if it. To me, it just doesn't feel like somebody like Drew should be so comfortable with somebody who they have been working with for three weeks saying, okay, there's nobody else I could put up except my ally when there's like eight other people in the house.
David Bloomberg
I mean, he did say that. He was like, no, no, no, there are other people. I think he just decided that she was so dumb that she didn't realize it. Which to, you know, to. To be fair. Yeah, I mean that, you know.
Chappelle
The sharpest tool in the tool shed.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, exactly.
Chappelle
So.
David Bloomberg
And then it was just. Just, like I said, massive denial. And as I mentioned, it's about a 3 1/2 minute video. I went into some other, like, I quoted from a psych psychological study and. And stuff like that about just the inability to accept new information, you know, because it would harm your brain. It would, you know, because you're so sure that you're safe in this situation. So. But the funny thing is, it's not like. I mean, he did end up safe, but he didn't do it on purpose.
Chappelle
No.
David Bloomberg
And in a way, his complete denial accidentally did the trick. If he had known. Think about Drew. If Drew had known, he would have freaked the hell out. And Devins d Angela, they would have all been like, oh, see, we knew. He's trying to scheme with everyone. Look at him running around. He's in every conversation. And da, da, da. Well, yeah, because he knew he was in danger then. But by not doing those things, by sitting back more, he. Because he was convinced that he was safe, he ended up being safe. It was purely by accident, not by any game strategy.
Chappelle
Yeah. We've seen stuff like this before in the past where savvy players will pick up on the person who's campaigning the best. It should actually be your target. You know, the person who comes in your room and makes the best case for them staying. You're like, yeah, you're right, you should stay. But because you've now convinced me that you should stay, I now think that you should be the one to go. Because I've now seen that your skills outweigh the next person's skills. They have not convinced me that they should stay, but if they can't convince me they should stay, they shouldn't be here. This is kind of like the reverse of that, right? It's. Drew is. He's playing so poorly. There's like, oh, now we're not worried about him anymore.
David Bloomberg
Yeah.
Chappelle
You know, had he been actively trying to save himself, they might have said, oh, yeah, see, that's exactly what we're talking about. It confirms our suspicions. He is a good gamer. He does have these connections. We got to get him out. We've been seeing that since week one with Yash. Yash came in week one. He's on the block. Immediately, he almost went home. But then from there, they're like, I don't think he's good. I don't think he's good at the game. And although he does have his deficits, him being bad at the game is what has ingratiated him into the, the, the fold. You know, they're willing to work with Yash because they're not concerned about him. Now, if Yash is doing that on purpose, then kudos to him. Drew was not doing that on purpose this week. He was not. He was not doing that on purpose. It just happened around him. It happened to him, and he's able to benefit from it. And I was fully ready to come in here and talk about why Drew lost. And I'm sure he's had a laundry list of things to say, but why Drew stayed is probably a better conversation because he doesn't even know why he stayed.
David Bloomberg
Well, he, he. Yeah, he doesn't know he was in danger of not staying.
Chappelle
Yeah, he thought this was the plan the whole time.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. But he turned out fine. Now, someone who is not fine is Haley, AKA thog as the nickname that started on Blue sky became officially recognized by the Big Brother announcer on Thursday. And so if anyone's wondering, well, how do you know it originated on Blue Sky? There is a deep dive into the history. You know, I, I there. I, I wish I had the link handy, but someone did a deep dive to compare the timestamps, and it went from. It went from Blue sky over to X over to chat pcc. So, you know, Blue sky, again, making history, because, you know, we had the mention of you from your post there, the mention of other people from their post there. And so, as a matter of fact, I think Bradley was the one who originated thog. If I remember correctly, it seems like a couple people used it about the same time. And Bradley's Blue sky post was also featured on Unlocked, so it was, yeah, quite a Blue sky heavy episode of Unlocked, as it should be. But getting back to Haley, she is so far from fine that she is often delusional. Never never Land. You know, Dee Devins and Angela basically controlled her entire hoh, but it was done so well that Haley believes she orchestrated a master plan without the help of the vets all the way up until, well, that picture we saw. And so she just. She's convinced of all these things that are not true, like that Angela would choose her over D if it came down to it. She's convinced Dee's emotions are getting in her way and she can't separate emotions from the game. And it's just mind blowing that Haley said that about someone else, let alone D. And, you know, I mean, Dee has gleefully told us in camera talks about how much she enjoys lying to people's faces, and she is clearly willing to do whatever it takes.
Chappelle
She's playing a game and the rest of them are living in the Big Brother house. Like, D is not. She is not fully got indoctrinated as a. As a house guest. Right. She's not a hamster. She's still in there, like, watching the hamster. She's just in there with them, you know, and we've seen players like that before where you can tell some of them have gotten really into the social structure of the house. Know, really involved in the fights, they're really involved in the drama. They're gossiping, they're doing everything but paying attention to the game. D is D has the unique, like, talent this season of just being able to be in all those moments to encourage them even, and then to step back and say, wait a minute, that's not great gameplay. We should do something else.
David Bloomberg
Yeah.
Chappelle
And then also have the, like, the social capital to get everybody else to come with her. You know, it's. It's one thing to say, I don't want to do this anymore. It's another thing to say, I don't want to do this anymore. Let me go make everybody else do what I want to do. And then she does it. And Dee has so much control over what's happening in this house, her Devins, and to an extent, Angela, that when they decide something's going to happen, they can make it happen. Make you think that it's your idea that it's happening whether it's good for their game or not. This blindside to thaw, we've all been laughing about it, but it is bad strategic play. There's no reason for you to blindside the people who are not coming for you. They weren't coming for you at all. You blindsided them out of boredom. You. You had no reason to do this. You could have at least Told them, all right, we're going to vote out Lyric. There's nothing you can do that you don't have the votes and just been on the same side of these people. But, no, they were bored. They thought it'd be funny. They danced around, they laughed about it, and then they just went and just enacted their will on the entire house. And so when D inevitably loses, or maybe if she wins. Well, if she ever loses, we'll go back and we'll be like, why did D lose? Well, here's what she's been doing since week one that is counterproductive to her winning the game, but none of it mattered because she still had complete control, you know, so we were high on D in the preseason. I am still high on D. I know a lot of people thought she was a little bit overrated, but I think just these last three weeks, if nothing else, has proven that when she wants to lock in, she can.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. And it's interesting. I. Obviously, we can't hear talk about what happened afterwards, but, you know, their plan, which we saw right away, and, you know, we saw a bit of on on Unlocked, so therefore it's not a spoiler anymore, was to lie and have them questioning each other. And at least in the initial hours, that seemed to be working. And so it. It could be. Yeah, it was not a great idea to blindside them, but it still ends up working out. Yeah, Right. And part of that goes back to, again, De's. Sorry, Haley's delusion, because she truly thinks De is another Chuck who sits there and doesn't do anything. Haley has said, well, I pitch an idea, and De just agrees. And she's worried that she'll have to do all the brain work for D by the end of the game. If it speaks to this level of mastery that Dee can plant ideas, have Haley believe that they're actually her ideas. And then beyond that, further be upset that Dee isn't contributing any ideas when she is literally the ventriloquist dummy and Dee is the ventriloquist.
Chappelle
Yeah, Dee could really find herself in a Chelsea and MJ situation where, you know, about half of the game, Chelsea found her, you know, her puppet or at least somebody that she could wield as a weapon. You know, I won't say MJ is a puppet, but she definitely was doing a lot of the heavy lifting in the physical department. Chelsea was no slouch either. But between the two of them, they could do whatever Chelsea wanted because they were controlling all the competition wins. If THOG and D lock in, yeah. There's a good chance that, you know, thog is thinking, oh, my God, D. She just doesn't understand. I'm so happy that I'm here to guide her. And the whole time people are like, dog, you, you. What are you doing? D's gonna beat you at the end. And, you know, we've seen in the past where house guests have talked about colluding against the vets. You know, if the vet gets to the end, we're not voting for them. We saw that with Ian's win and versus Dan. Right. There was nothing that there was nothing Dan could have done. There was just nothing. They had already decided. We're not going to let our season be marred by a returning player who's already played once and won to come back and win again. The way dog's social game is going these days, I think that these people would be like, fine, we'll give it to D. I just don't think that she would even be able to get D to the end as a goat because nobody else would vote for a returning or icon. If she keeps playing like this and treating people like this, they'll happily vote against her and vote for D at the final two.
David Bloomberg
I. I don't know what you're talking about saying. Her social game is. Is bad because she believes that everybody loves her.
Chappelle
She.
David Bloomberg
She thinks everybody in the house and the viewing audience. As a matter of fact, she thinks she is so popular because of the terrible week she has had and all that she has had to go through that she is going to get the power this week. And, you know, maybe it'll circle to Devin's, but never to Dee, who is unpopular. And meanwhile, you know, much like I think the players in the house, we're sitting here at home knowing, no, Devin's already got a power. D already got her power. And I don't think it's a spoiler to say Haley ain't getting one this week or any week. You know, as Omer. Omer had the perfect phrase on the Thursday night recap for her. He said, she is effortlessly unlikable.
Chappelle
She does a good job. She does a good job. Since week one, we've seen that even though she was in the tool shed alliance, they have not been fond of her. You know, I think, right. Chuck and Kamu have been high on her, but for the most part, like, D never really, like, aligned with Haley, just socially. You know, Barrett, Drew, they were just kind of like, oh, we're aligned because this is the alliance. But not so Much that they're your friends and get along. This week probably is the best social week that she's had, honestly winning Angela over. Which is crazy, right? Because prior to this, I mean, she. She basically just had Kamu and Chuck, but then she won Angela over and damn near lost Kamu. You know, they're going to. They're going to battle because she's telling Kamu. Yeah, I think you're. You know, I think you're into Lyric. I think you like Lyric. Blah, blah, blah. You. You're just looking at how pretty she is. You're being snowed by her. And Angela even hinted maybe there's a little bit of jealousy in that. So it's like she wins a ally, she potentially loses an ally. You know, she has not been having a great three weeks, but not for the same reason she thinks she has.
David Bloomberg
No, definitely not. And you, you know, you say she wins an ally, she loses an ally.
Commercial Announcer
She.
David Bloomberg
She only thinks she won Angela because Angela was particularly happy. Yeah, exactly.
Chappelle
Exactly. Yeah, she's good. I like Angela being. Being into the blind side as long as D and Devin's were, because you could tell she. She's. Angela was like, no, this is not a good idea. Like, why would I lie to somebody who I'm so close to? And he goes, yeah, we're lying with you. She goes, all right, yeah, okay, that's cool. It's fine. Okay, we're all in it together. Let's do it.

Crispy caesar sauce at McDonald's for a limited time. Ba da ba ba ba.
David Bloomberg
So, I know you had another topic you wanted to discuss, but you may have already hit on it. I'm not sure if you already took care of that in there.
Chappelle
Yeah, well, I mean, I just love the idea that these Survivor players can just sit around and about halfway through the week just decide that we're just going to be chaotic for the hell of it. I think that in past seasons of Big Brother, before this strategy got so, you know, granular and we knew exactly what to do in the earlier season, people were just doing whatever they felt, you know, like it might be strategic or it might be personal. They might have the votes to get you out, they might not, but they still put you on the block. And so for Dee and Devins to be able to identify the optimal move and say, no, I don't want to do that, you know, and just to say it's not like there's a level of incompetence, there's boredom, there's probably some level of, you know, hubris. You know, maybe they're on, they're playing with house money. You know, they both had their time. This isn't their show. This isn't a dream that they had their whole life. So they don't mind being a little loosey goosey. It's like. It's like the good version of what Tucker did, you know, it's like Tucker was throwing challenges and putting up his allies for no reason and it was tanking his game. And then he wanted to quit every five seconds as well, which is also annoying. Here. These people are like, yeah, they're taking their game, but they're able to pull it back out. And they know, they are like, I'mma do a thing, but I'm also. We could save it. Yeah, it's pretty bad, but we could fix it. And so watching them do that throughout the week has been very fun.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. I do think that probably they both came in with the idea that it's unlikely we're going to win, so we'll have some fun. But as Dee has said in, you know that some camera talks, $750,000, you know, that's. That's a lot of money. But like you just said, it's. They have so much control that it doesn't matter if they screw something up just for fun, because they can just circle it back and bring it back and get people into that control again. So, yeah, I, I think it's funny that they in part decided to make this move as an Fu to Haley and Kamu. Like, you know, we heard D sing. Who the hell do they think they are?
Chappelle
Yeah.
David Bloomberg
But I do want to emphasize, since this is the why Lyric Loss podcast, you know, that despite them just deciding to have fun, it. It doesn't change what we're about to discuss in a few minutes with. With Lyric, because, for one thing, they never should. I mean, it was a mistake to target Drew to begin with. We were all talking about that. So in a way, this was like a corrective action, right? It was a fun corrective action, but it was. It was a correction to the way they were going wrong. And there are plenty. As we'll talk about, there are plenty of good reasons to get rid of Lyric that were caused by Lyric herself, not by Dee and Devins. However, they did give us the most entertaining version of getting rid of Lyric, that's for sure.
Chappelle
Right. You convincing the red corner to go after Drew so that they go after Drew so that you do not go after Drew is actually crazy. You know, it was your idea. You planted it in their head, then you blindsided them by not going into it. Now people are mad at them for trying to vote out the wrong person. Yeah, it's. Yeah, this is. It's masterful work, but for no reason. Like, this is all above and beyond. It's. It's a lot. Like a thousand steps to go, you know, one tiny, tiny step. But I'll take it. I'll take it because it's making for good tv. And this could have been way more boring if they weren't just willing to. To give us what we wanted instead of just taking the obvious steamroll that they could have.
David Bloomberg
Right. Right. All right. Do you have anything else before we move on to our usual segment here?
Chappelle
No. No. This was. This was a fun week in Big Brother history. You know, I. You know, the show takes so much energy out of the people who watch the live feeds, and I guess if you're just watching the show as well, it can be a little. A little tough sometimes with the. With your side losing a lot or you seeing things that you don't really enjoy. But it's the high points, those blind sides, the comp wins. Like, the clutch comp wins, I guess I'll say. And even, you know, the outcomes that you just don't think are possible that happen at the last second that make the show worth watching. So I'm very happy about it. Yeah.
David Bloomberg
All right, well, then it is time for the return of Julie Chen. Moonves is wrong about Blank. Julie, after having a week off, you know, from. From our critique, came back with a blast of her usual cluelessness this time when Dalton Ross Asked her about how things played out with the crossovers turning on the red corner. Julie talked about Dee and then said Haley is a force to be reckoned with and has shown she can sniff out what's what. I feel these two women may be pretty evenly matched. My first thought was, is Julie drunk when she does this interview? What is wrong here? But then I remembered, oh, no, this is actually typical Julie having absolutely no idea what's been going on on the live feeds or even on the show. This interview was done shortly after Dee completely blindsided Haley, took over her hoh, made her look like a complete fool. Had that picture that we showed before sitting behind Julie for part of the time. And somehow Julie believes that they are pretty evenly matched. Not to mention that, I mean, yeah, literally, they cut away from that shock face. It was still there. They went back to it. But Julie thinks Haley has shown she can sniff out what's what. I, I, I, I think that that reaction shows that she absolutely cannot sniff out what's what. It's, it's like Julie lives in a universe where up is down, left is right, and bad players are good players.
Chappelle
I don't really know how she landed on this. I just, I, I don't know. Like you said, I know we know she's not keeping up with the feeds, but sometimes I'm questioning if she even watches the show at all, you know, if she's even seen it. You know, she knows everybody's name. That's cool. But Julie's reads are the worst. I think, you know, we, we always, you know, the fandom's always casting these, like, fantasy cast for the traitors and stuff like that. Put Julie on the traitors. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. The way she would be at the final roundtable, like, you know, just clueless, not knowing who the hell it was, surrounded by traitors, you know, like, that's, that's the type of energy Julie gives, because there's no reason why you should have seen thug's mouth on the floor like that and thought, oh, yeah, she has a good handle of on everything that's going on in the game. Now, mind you, Dee's face also looked like that, but Dee was completely acting and doing and telling an awful lie, a lie that nobody should believe, and it was still working. Whereas Haley was just looking lost as hell.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, yeah, I, I, I don't know. I, I worry that if they put Julie on, first of all, that's too many days in a row of work for Julie.
Chappelle
Right.
David Bloomberg
You know, she likes to do her one day, couple hours and leave.
Chappelle
I aspire.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Yeah. And I mean, I'm retired and I work more than Julie does, so.
Chappelle
She live in the dream. David. I'm sorry, I can't hate.
David Bloomberg
But I. I worry if she were on the Traitors, she'd be one of those clueless faithfuls who's brought to the end and ends up winning. You know, like, who was it Doris? Was it Doris that, you know, a couple seasons ago?
Chappelle
Yeah, Dolores. Dolores Lord Ivar, I think had got him a win on trying not to spoil too many of season of the trainers. But, yeah, sometimes people get to the end and they just look up. I just don't see that being Julie. I just think Julie's going down with the ship. She doesn't know.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, she's a mora. She's. She's a mora rather than. Yeah,
Chappelle
so.
David Bloomberg
So, yeah. But, you know, throughout lyrics interviews, she kept saying that, sorry, I'm switching topics here. I just realized that I didn't. Didn't ring a bell or anything like that. I was just. I got so distracted thinking of Julie as Maura because in more in my eyes, you know, Maura perfectly emphasize perfect. I have a. I have a screenshot of her where she is the. The I. The I don't know, emoji. You know, literally, she's sitting there like that and I could just see. See Julie that way. But moving on from her throughout lyrics interview, she kept saying she knew she was a goner when Haley nominated her, and of course knew she'd be voted out if she lost Blockbuster because, well, they had to get rid of the person who won things rather than someone who hadn't. Some of these things did play a role, but they weren't actually the primary reasons, despite what Lyric believed. So let's find out what really happened, because at rhap, we know Big Brother and we know why Lyric lost. The first and most important rule is, of course, to scheme and plot. Early on, Lyric was not talking much game with anyone, and it wasn't clear if she really knew what to do. I would say, looking back at her full time on Big Brother, as, as a whole, I do think she did know. And what we saw was a mix partially of her purposely keeping a low profile early and partially being too entangled with Rome rather than talking to others. And the reason I'm concluding part of it was intentional is that she did have some opportunities to talk to people and decided not to take them. And then also when things did change, she kicked into gear so she knew that she had to do that. But one of those times when she chose not to engage in game related discussions was with Devins. Because, let's remember, the reason Devin's told Rome that he was going to nominate Lyric was not because of her association with Rome, despite what would later wrongly become a firmly held belief among some of them. It was because he said he'd given her so many opportunities to talk to him about the game and she didn't give him anything. And Devins didn't only just tell Rome about that, so it's not like he was giving some BS excuse. He also said the same thing to some of his allies.
Chappelle
I have so many issues with lyrics. First week in the game. I'm not, I'm not a guy who comes in rooting for the showmances. I just, you know, I'm an OG Big Brother fan. I just feel like, you know, since, since season one, you got to break up the show notes or season two proper, you know, whatever. You gotta. You gotta break up the showmans. Like, that's just kind of the way I've always operated. Because showmances are incredibly hard to beat once they start to win challenges. And because that's one person who will always save another person. That's one person who will never put another person up. Right. Like nobody else has got. Is taking that type of trust and. And moving through the game with that. Everybody else has something right where they're like, I could. Maybe my ally is betraying me. With showmances, that's rarely the case. So I'm always in the camp of, you know, target the showmance. But also don't get in a showmance if. Or a public showmance at that. If you get in a. If you're in a showmance, keep it on the low. People should not know that you are willing to throw your game away from. For somebody or that you're.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, it's literally part of Rule 2. It says it right in there when we get there. Yeah, right.
Chappelle
People shouldn't know that. So for her to spend her first week wrapped up in the showmance. She came in as a fan of the show. She got so like wrapped up in that to where she let these other relationships and these other bonds and these other strategic moments fly by because she was so worried about what the hell Rome was doing. I just think that as a. If you're a Big Brother fan, sure, you can go into the house and find love. We've seen it happen before. I Hope that everything that her, that she and Rome think is going to happen to them happens to them. I hope they work out because Otherwise you just threw 750, 000 away because what, you wanted to play house for two weeks in the big brother house? Like, not even. Not even, you know, like, so I don't know. I just feel like this when you should have been strategizing. You were too busy laid up and everybody saw it and you were just slowly putting target on your back.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Yeah. And, you know, part of her not wanting to or not strategizing, I think she. She tried to cover up because she claimed on day eight live feeds that she didn't want to scheme and lie so she didn't compromise her morals and make herself look bad or disappoint her family. I, I still don't know if this is BS or she was trying to downplay herself. Like, you know, much like she said she didn't want to tell people she was a lawyer or if she really did believe she was being honest because even after she was evicted, she said some similar things like, oh, I think I carried myself in a way that, you know, I didn't, you know, make my family look bad and stuff like that. I suspect she was at least partially lying because once she was nominated, like I said, she. She kicked it into a new gear. She told D, I feel terrible for saying it, but take me off and put Rome up. I want to be here in my game. I would rather him go than me. And then she went to Devin's and said she was sorry she didn't work with him and promised she would never nominate him. And we, we said at the time, I, I don't know how this ploy worked, but it did. So many of us were sitting there going, she's obviously lying, but Devins is over there telling the camera. I don't know why, but I believe her. And I, you know, saying I trust her more than I trust Melody.
Chappelle
She's. She's a disappointing player. That. Because she does have the skill set. We saw it. We saw that she has the chops to do things, but she wasn't locked in.
David Bloomberg
She.
Chappelle
Her mind was somewhere else. Her emotions were somewhere else. And where she should have been, you know, doing the scheming and the plotting and the strategizing and making these alliances and stuff. She was really resting on, well, I have Rome and then I have my friends over here and. And we didn't see those skill set, that skill set really going to work until she had to when her and Rome are saying, okay, we are. Let's pretend to break up. Okay, cool. We saw her immediately get to work. She's talking. She's working on Kamu right then. And the. The. The foundation she laid that week came back this week, you know, where, you know, stuff that she started to do, those seeds that she planted back then, those relationships she started to build with her and Rome in mind, she went and did that. And now two, three weeks later, people are still like, nah, I think. I think we could trust her. I think we could trust her. I have a good relationship. Kamu. Chuck, when she turned it on, I mean, Devin's. To an extent. When she turned it on, she was able to get those people over. The problem is, why isn't it on? Why. Why do you have to turn it on? You? Like, it's so frustrating because there are so many people who go out at stage who should go out. They don't know what they're doing. They don't have any type of potential in the game. She had all the potential in the world, and I just think she squandered it.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, I mean, she. Like you said, she totally fooled Kamu when he was the ho into believing she wasn't sure about Rome and it wasn't that serious. And she basically told Kamu she found him attractive, and she's holy, and he's holy, and I'm just like, holy. This is working, you know, to the point that Camus believed she was, quote, a damsel in distress looking for her knight in shining armor. And, you know, Camus still ended up telling her that she was. He was nominating her as a pawn. Credit to her for not just rolling over and accepting it. She fought. She went back to him multiple times to try to convince him not to do it. It didn't work, but again, that's still better than just accepting it.
Chappelle
Yeah, she knows how to play the damsel, but she's nobody's damsel. You know, if you let. If. If she had gone in there, there was no room. Right. If there was no room, I think we could have seen Lyric do some damage in the game, just being able to float around the house, kind of working her way into rooms and telling people what they want to hear. She was so good at just identifying what you wanted to hear. She, you know, they. A lot of contact content online about her baby voice that she used. Yeah. But she did it to benefit her game.
Commercial Announcer
You.
Chappelle
Because you could tell there was a voice she would use sometimes. Over here, there was a voice with these people. And that was very. I don't know if it's intentional, like gameplay or if that's just who Lyric is to. Where she knows, you know, just instinctively how she comes off and how to wrote people in. But it would have been so good.
David Bloomberg
Yes.
Chappelle
You know, had she been able to harness it the right way.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Now, I do have to say she was not always successful in her scheming. Some of it went awry. As much as it pains me to say the next three words, Haley wasn't wrong in saying that Lyric went to Kamu and Chuck before going to her when she was lobbying to avoid being nominated this week. If you want the HOH to do something for you, you have to talk to the hoh. Don't send in the guys you've been flirting with. So obviously it. It looked bad. It didn't convince Haley, and I think it made Haley more likely to nominate her by showing Haley. Oh, you're actually lower on my list.
Chappelle
Yeah. And then. And it also is the idea that Lyric had not tried to make a relationship with Haley Prior. Right. Yeah, of course. Now you're sending your guys up to come and vouch for you. And now you're coming up. Oh, do you want some water? Do you want this? Do you want that? Would you like anything to drink? You know, really kissing ass, and you should be. But why are you doing this? Just because you're. You're on the block. You should have started doing this last week.
David Bloomberg
Where were you?
Chappelle
Like, Haley says it. I mean, you know, it's Haley, so you have to kind of take it with a grain of salt. But she says, where were you when they were dragging my name through the mud? Now all of a sudden, everybody's coming back and telling me all these people are saying these things about me. You were in the room with them. You didn't tell me anything. She's like, I'm not saying that you have to blow up your allies game, but at least have a working relationship with everybody in the house to where the HOH is not questioning your motives the moment you come to them. I would have questioned her, too. Why am I hearing from Chuck and Kamu all these great things about how you feel about me, even though you've never said them to me. When. When were we going to have that conversation? Oh, that you're on the block. Of course you're telling me anything you want to hear. Haley was not wrong. And yeah, her scheming implant did not always work. And to into a certain extent, it was part of the reason why the target kept getting bigger on her. Like, they saw how hard she was working, and people were saying, she's working so hard, she's got to be more threatening to the. Than the people who are not. Like Drew, who's walking around with blinders on, not even knowing that the people are coming for him.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Yeah. Now, there was another situation where she had a strategic misstep, and this was in a conversation she had with Dee. So part of the reason Dee decided she wanted Lyric gone was that they. They. They had this discussion. They had this conversation, and Dee was kind of hinting around to see would Lyric be interested in going after Kamu, Haley and Chuck. And Lyric said in interviews that she said no because she knew Dee was in an alliance with them. But Dee had also told Lyric that she was not really in an alliance with them. She was just pretending and lying to them. Still, in Lyric's mind, I think this whole thing seemed to be a trap, and I will acknowledge it can be difficult to read a situation. And it's certainly possible that Dee could have been trying to get her to say something she could use against her, but instead, by not saying it, that was how she gave Dee something she could use. And this actually happened to Lyric twice. We'll get to the other one later. But it reminded me very much of rhaps own Asia Welch on Survivor because. And it's not because a guy named Rome was part of the reason for her, it's rather the situation was one where Asia was approached about voting out her tightest ally. It was Saul. And even though they didn't need her vote to do it, so she was like, why would you ask me to if you don't need my vote? And she thought it was like a loyalty test. The problem was she didn't know what the right answer was. Would saying yes, that she would jump ship and work with them show she would be loyal to them? Or would it show she wouldn't even be loyal to her closest ally and therefore couldn't be trusted? And, you know, she ended up saying, no, I'm not going to turn on him. And they voted her out for it. Lyric said she wouldn't go against the people. Dee was trying to hint that she should, and they voted her out. So in both cases, the people asking the questions were indeed being straightforward. The problem was in not knowing whether they were straightforward.
Chappelle
Yeah. And I mean, it. It doesn't. It doesn't help when you have not put yourself in a situation where you would know the answers to these questions. Like, like, Asia was on Survivors for she the second, the first boot from her tribe. So she lasted a little less than a week. Yeah, Lyric's been in the house for almost a month. You know, hey, you had plenty of time, plenty of time to talk to these people. Um, and you just did it. And so, um, you know, now when you're coming in, you don't know D's motives. It's like, because you don't have a working relationship with D. Like that, you know? Um, and some of that is D because these picked her people. But go work them. We see that you can do it. You can do it. We saw it. We saw it this week that you had the capacity to do it. I think you took too long. You should. You should have been doing that instead of being laid up.

All right, well, we can move to Rule 2, which says not to scheme and plot too much and to keep your scheming secret. Now, I'm not going to yell this week like I have for the first three, but a major part of keeping your scheming secret involves, you know, not telling the people you schemed about that you schemed about them when you shouldn't have schemed about them. And I'm, of course, talking about how Lyric threw Melody and Mallory under the bus to Haley, about how they were coming for Chogmu. And again, for people who don't remember, that is Chuck, Fog. Kamu. And then we got to get Chogmo. We got to get the.
Chappelle
The.
David Bloomberg
The Big Brother announcer to say chogmo.
Commercial Announcer
That.
David Bloomberg
That's what.
Chappelle
That's so real. Yeah, but.
David Bloomberg
But anyway, then she had a sudden attack of conscience or worried would word would get back to them anyway, so she wanted to get ahead of it, and she told them she was forced to do it. Chappelle. Chappelle. They forced her. Haley forced her to rat out her people. Forced her.
Chappelle
I don't mind her ratting out her people. I don't. But she's so transparent. She's so transparent. Everybody in the house knew what she was doing, with the exception of Chuck and Kamu, at, you know, at different points. But even they. Even they could see it at certain points where they like, damn, is she really playing us? You, you're scheming, you're plotting, you're moving around, you're throwing your allies on the bus, but everybody can see you, and you're not insulated enough to where they can't get to you. In fact, some of them think you're expendable. When it came down to you and Melody, they made their choice, and it wasn't you. So, yeah, she's. She's out here working, but she's doing it. And she's burning these bridges when people find out that, damn, she's willing to throw me on the bus. Oh, she's willing to throw you on the bus or she threw that person in the bus? If she's doing all of us like this, what is the value of keeping her around? She's a mercenary. She's out for herself. Only she know there's no point in bringing her an alliance because she's going to go and throw the alliance in the bus to save herself. There are ways you can do that without getting caught. But Lyric didn't have any issue getting caught like, she was getting caught. And then she would go back and she would do the Lyric thing. Oh, my God, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to, you know, and try to do the damsel in distress play that worked so well on Kamu. And, you know, when it worked, it worked, but once it didn't, you know, you couldn't put the Toothpaste. Back in the tube, they saw you for what you were. You showed your teeth a little too. A little bit too much, and now people are afraid of you as far as, like, your loyalty, but also they know you got some chops for the game, too.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, the damsel in the stress routine wasn't going to work on Melody after you had just thrown her under the bus. Instead, Melody was going to say she wants to punch you in the face. I mean, Lyric, like you said, Lyric admitted to Mike Bloom that she was trying to save herself, which, yes, absolutely, you should try to do that. But you can't just throw out the names of your closest allies and expect it to be hunky dory. And it worked against her in two ways, some of which you've already mentioned. First, of course, after she told Mallory about it, she was also trying to rationalize, well, it's not that big of a deal because everyone already knew that you had said that. It's like, okay, maybe they did, or at least they believe they know, but you just confirmed it. You brought it up again. If it was something Mallory had said in the past, the past can very quickly be forgotten in this game, or at least ignored. You just confirmed it. You put the focus back on her, directly to the person making the decision. But that wasn't the result. Lyric told Mike that she was trying to, quote, hopefully earn trust with Haley, Chuck and Camu, but, quote, it wasn't enough trust because Haley just put me up anyways. Well, no, no, the problem wasn't that it wasn't enough trust. It showed the opposite of trustworthiness. Haley even told her straight to her face that she was throwing her. Her best friends under the bus. And we're back to the situation that I talked about with Asia on Survivor, where she was asked to turn on her number one ally, you know, that I just mentioned. I said there were two situations. This is the second one. In this case, Lyric did throw the Ally under the bus and was immediately punished for her disloyalty. As Haley said, she doesn't trust someone who would quickly abandon her friends and allies like that, like you mentioned, and it's true. Why? Why would I think you will suddenly be loyal to me if you wouldn't be loyal to people you've been friends with for a month? She was clearly being opportunistic, which means she would do it again in a heartbeat.
Chappelle
The good version of what Lyric is trying to do here is Vince last season, Vince was a mess. He was a mess from day one. All the way to the end. But Vince could go and backstab his allies and then drag them back into his gravitational pull because they were his allies. They were his actual allies. He had created bonds with them. So when he went and burned them, they were like, damn, I'm still working with him. Lyric was burning people who she wasn't actually really working with at first. You know, she's like, okay, I'm with the. I'm with the Haley, I'm with. Oh, I'm with Melody. I'm with Mallory.
Visible Wireless Advertiser
Cool.
Chappelle
That's my core group. But then you say, okay, I'm gonna backstab them. Okay, bet I'm backstabbing them. But then when the power shifts are like, I'm backstab y' all now, and I'll go back to them, it's like, wait, what?
David Bloomberg
How?
Chappelle
You can't do both. Like, you. Because they don't feel. They feel like they're getting burned by you. But we are the ones in power, and we're watching you burn them and try to burn us at the same time. Vince was able to get power. That was another reason why it worked out for him. Lyric was not able to get power backstabbing your allies and even your enemies. It works when you can be the HOH because then they can't do anything about it. People just have to accept your position. They say, okay, you lied to me, but I can't call you on it because you might put me on the block. You know, if you're going to play a game like this, where you are playing so reckless with other people's allegiances to you, you at least need to have something that will bring them back to you. And winning HOH would have been very beneficial for the game that she was playing. She was not able to do that. And so when people saw her make mistakes or, you know, throw them under the bus, she was. She had nothing to recover from. You know, with that, it was just like, okay, I threw you under the bus. And now when the tide shift, I gotta go throw somebody else in the. And I throw somebody else under the bus. She just kept throwing people and throwing people. Throwing. People had nobody else to throw.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, because it wasn't like you're saying it wasn't only Haley who felt this way. Like, after the eviction, the live feeds came back to Taylor saying, well, I decided to vote Lyric out because she jumped ship on her friends. So, I mean, you know, that's totally different group in the house having the same exact feeling. And others said similar Things even Josh Martinez said on BB Unlock that Lyric should have stayed loyal to the other women. And, and I agree this was part of Lyric's problem. She never seemed to have like a coherent plan. She was just running hither and yon to try to save herself. She was, she was always playing defense and there were just a lot of holes. It, you know, it reminds me of a football team who just has, you know, bad players and they're always being run over. Here she was up against Drew, who seemed sketchy, but she had actually shown disloyalty with her actions. Drew had not, because he is loyal. When you look at the comparison, I know Drew won the blockbuster. I'm saying what helped cause the flip because they didn't originally care about Melody at first. They cared about Drew and it was just momentum that kept them going to, okay, get rid of her against Melody too. But this is the problem. Like people will come into my comments and be like, well, Angela was right, Drew is sketchy. But you show me one thing that Drew has done. Because every action, no matter what he says. Yes. You may see him saying in an edited clip in the doctor or when prompted as we discussed last week, or to Melody or to one of the other young women there, oh, yes, I'm with you. Da da da da da. But every single action he has taken showed his loyalty. Whereas lyrics actions showed her disloyalty.
Chappelle
I love a self interested player though. You know, like this is like I, yeah, she broke the rule. She did. But I, I prefer the Lyric style of you did everything you could do, you know, maybe even too much. As opposed to, you know, people who will go out of the game and the whole time you'll say, what did you even do? Why were you there? Well, you know, you're at the end and you're like, did they schema fly too much? No. Did they scheme applied at all? No. You know, it's like there's, there's nothing to show. At least I have to give her credit for this. At least when she wanted to lock in, she could it just when she did, she had to. She had so much of a deficit to make up from just like basically not playing the game, you know, and putting this big target on her back. So like now she has to undo everybody's preconceived notions of her, you know, they, they looked at her as Rome's girlfriend, you know, or, or yeah, that she's in a relationship with Rome. So she's got to undo that. Oh yeah, I'm not Mad about y' all targeting Rome. No, I would never come at y' all for that. And then on the other side, she's like, yeah, I gotta target. I gotta target them because they came after Rome. You know, like, she's telling all these lies to come from that hole that she put herself in. So I'll give her some credit. At least. At least she fought to stay, because some people just don't.
David Bloomberg
Oh, absolutely. But in that fight, you know, you've got the question of why did she decide to jump ship the way she did? And she told Dalton Ross, she realized that when Jason left, quote, I was like, I'm on my own in here. I gotta find some new allies. I gotta find some people who are gonna support me and keep me safe in this house. Now, we may scratch our heads a bit at this because she was not on her own. She had Mallory and Melody at the very least. And, you know, some of them thought that they had some of the others, like Drew and Barrett. But. Okay, let's give her the benefit of the doubt and say she realized that Drew and Barrett were actually part of the Tool Shed alliance. And, of course, each of them also had connections with Melody and Mallard Mallory, respectively. So maybe she did feel alone for that reason. But then the solution is to try to tighten things up and strengthen those bonds, not be like, oh, my boat has a couple small holes in it. Let's abandon ship and. And try swimming. You know, she. She wanted to be with people who won comps so she wouldn't have to worry about being targeted. But the. The thing is, if she did actually understand. Understand the overall size of the alliance, she was basically begging to be taken in at the absolute bottom rung of the ladder, like, to replace the person who they had just kicked out in eighth place. That is not really any more secure than being outside of it completely, but
Chappelle
you could even get there if you actually took the time to be there earlier. You know, you had time to be like, nah. Yeah, me and Rome are in a showmance, but if he gotta go, he can go. You know, you could have been planting those seeds very early on. Even Rome probably would have been okay with that. You know, like, oh, yeah, we should probably separate ourselves. They did the fake breakup, but you should literally be in there being like, I don't. Like, listen, I'm here. Yes, me and Rome are having a thing, but you don't got to worry about me. And she tried that a couple times with people like Kamu. Right. But she really should have been in there with that entire. All the people that she thought was the other side. She should have been in there. They targeted Rome. Okay, shake it off and get back in there and let them know I'm, you know, you ain't got to worry about me. I'm working with y'.
Commercial Announcer
All.
Chappelle
If I win, hoh, I'm putting up the Littles. You know, like, if you really wanted to do that, commit to it. But she couldn't, because she didn't want that. She wanted to be with the Littles until she realized, oh, damn this. The ship is sinking. Now I gotta leave y' all behind. Peace. And that's what she said. I gotta find somebody who's gonna protect me. I'm just now realizing y' all aren't going to win anything. Yeah, they're not. And it's too late, because now it's your turn. You know, it's like you should have jumped ship a long time ago. You know, you could still be friends with them, but the people who are winning competition should at least know that you're with them. And they didn't, you know, they, they couldn't believe it. And then when you try. When you came to them, it was so transparent that you weren't.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. And, you know, like I just said in that quote, she decided. It's not like she was, you know, she decided at that moment, oh, now I need to be over there. Well, okay. Just because you have decided you need to be over there doesn't mean they're going to accept you over there.
Chappelle
Right? Man, she definitely needed to be over there.
David Bloomberg
Right?
Chappelle
Yeah. Stuff, man. Yeah.
David Bloomberg
So I, I, I mentioned earlier that Lyric was always playing defense. And, you know, part of that was something I said in the first rule when Lyric promised Devin she would never nominate him. And it turns out that was the start of a trend and something in her defensive playbook that she used too often, you know, like, like she was blitzing way too often. And, and the, you know, the people who had the ball were like, no, she is running the same thing all the time. We, we could easily take care of this because, you know, they caught on. We saw on the July 31 live feeds that Angela in a, In a group, I don't remember who was exactly in the group, but a large number of the tool shed asked for a show of hands. Who has heard Lyric promise to never put you on the block? And, like, almost every hand, if not every hand, went up. And this emphasized the fact that, as Angela noted, oh, look, she won't put up anyone. So if Angela. I mean, if Lyric. We're actually being honest, there's nobody left to nominate. How can you tell everyone that you're not putting them up?
Chappelle
Yeah, that must mean you don't want to win power. And if you're not winning power, what use are you to me?
David Bloomberg
Right? Right.
Chappelle
Yeah.
David Bloomberg
So you have mentioned a couple of times. And we discussed back in the first role how she buttered up Kamu, but she also worked on Chuck, flirting with him and getting close to him when they worked out. She had, you know, gotten approval from Rome to use those tactics in the game. But there were definitely others who did not approve. Like, Yash told her at one point that hanging out with Chuck like that so soon after Rome left was, quote, not a good look. And of course, there was the whole situation of Haley having a crush on Camus. You mentioned this earlier, you know, not. Not exactly being happy to see him hanging out with her. And we saw Angela asked Haley, do you like Camus? And she didn't say no. She said, I'm over that situation. Okay. In other words, she does like him, but she's lying to herself about it. And, you know, she even told Angela that Lyric only wanted to work with them because of what Camus looks like and because her boyfriend went home and, quote, he has something for her. He wants to protect her. Okay. But sure, Haley is over that situation.
Chappelle
She might be over, like, wanting to pursue it. I don't believe her. I don't believe her. I think she lied to her, and I think she lied to her, to us. But I think, you know, her being able to identify that everything she said about Lyric was in relationship to Kamu. None of it was in a relationship to. Relationship she has with Haley. None of it was. She doesn't have a relationship with Haley. Right. So all Haley really can base it off of is like, yeah, Kamal wants to save her because she looks good. You know, her boyfriend is gone, now she wants to work with us, blah, blah, blah. But at no point was she ever like, you know, me and Lyric talk week one, and we had a good, you know, a good working relationship. Or we. We established a fake final, too. There's so many fake alliances in this house, I can't even count them. Why are Lyric and Haley not in at least one? You know, like, they. They. It's like, why are you just pitching this week three, after your boyfriend is gone, after Jason is gone, These are your allies. These are the people that Haley is targeted. So your number one and two allies are her biggest targets. There's no way that y' all have a working relationship. There's just not. And if you. And if you do, you should be. Then she should be okay with. Or you should be okay with this. Right? Like, if y' all have a working relationship, then you're. Y' all are on the same page. She's not blindsiding you by voting these people out, by putting them on the block. That's something that y' all have talked about or that you know that. Okay, we're targeting different people, but at least I'm gonna keep you safe. None of that happened. You end up coming up here and groveling at the last minute.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, yeah. Now, I do want to point out, you know, the people we've been talking about are the likes of Haley Kamu, Chuck Yash. Well, those are the people who wanted to keep Lyric at the end. So, yeah, some listeners may be scratching their heads and being like, well, why are you talking about them when they're the ones who kept them? But it. This all contributed to Haley making her the replacement nominee to begin with. And, of course, these four had talked about it with other people before the vote, and other people saw the behavior. It was related to those four, but other people saw what was going on, and she never would have even been a nominee if it hadn't been for what she was doing.
Chappelle
It's a tough look, man. You know, like, she wasn't passive at points. And when she. When she. When. When she went at it, she just threw everything at it. But, you know, once she threw everything, she didn't have anything left. And, yeah, you know, you had not nothing else to offer. You'd given away all your allegiances, you'd given away all your power, all the promises that you could. And so at that point, everybody's like, well, what use are you to me? You know, it seems like you're just telling me whatever I want to hear. Maybe she goes on to win the next. The next competition, but who could guarantee that they weren't going to be the one she put up? I. I think we were as speculating as a fandom. Okay, let's say Lyric does stay. Who does she put up?
David Bloomberg
Right.
Chappelle
I didn't know. I didn't know who.
American Express Advertiser
That.
Chappelle
What the answer was.
David Bloomberg
I still don't know. Claims she told Julie one thing. She took. I still don't know. I don't think she knows because I, you know, she. She said different things depending on the pieces of information that were in front of her at that moment. Even after the game?
Chappelle
Yeah. So had she won? Does she really nestle in with the. With the red corner and the tool shed? Because she knows these are the people who are going to keep me safe. That's. That's what you said you wanted, right? That's what you told us in the diary room that you wanted. So that's it. That's how you get it. You win, and you do what they want you to do. But are you really going to betray your girls like that? I mean, you threw them under the bus, but are you going to really put them up now that you have the power to save those actual allies that you like, Are you really not going to go back with them and then betray Haley and the rest of Chakra? I don't know that. I don't know. And if we don't know, how the hell are they going to know inside the house?
David Bloomberg
Right. Right. All right. One more thing I want to mention. You already mentioned this earlier, but I think we have to at least address it in rule two was this haunted lyric from the start of the game. Her obvious duo with Rome. Being in a showmance like that shows everyone where you stand. And I don't care if you fake breakup. In fact, it made it worse because they had this huge kiss goodbye at his eviction. And then there was the flirting after she left. And it just. It set everyone's minds spinning, as we already discussed. But even she acknowledged in her interviews that she would have been better off in the game without the showmance. Of course, she believes it's true love and her life overall will be better. So it was worth it to her. And who knows? Maybe that's true. Even if the road ahead is not so easy, their love will lead the way for them, like a guiding star. But the love song is already over for her in the games sense.
Chappelle
Yeah. You know, the showman is they give and they take away. Right. They're great when you can get power. They're a target when you can't. Right. And. And you can't contribute. And Rome and Lyric found themselves on the. The side of the house with the least amount of power. And so she's latched onto a side of the house that has very little power. They. They're not. I think we were calling them mis. Like, not misguided, but they just didn't have a leader. They didn't have really anybody to, like, move the strategy around.
David Bloomberg
And so I think I called them the uncoordinated side.
Chappelle
Uncoord. That's no That's a really good word for it. That's what I was looking for. Uncoordinated. They're the uncoordinated side. You find yourself on that side with a showmance. He goes out, and then you're like, okay, now let me play a. A game where I'm flirting and social and all this other stuff. It's like. But it looks really weird because a second ago, you were the damsel in distress getting your. Your showman ripped away from you, you know, and. And everybody saw how much all in love. I mean, it doesn't help that Rome made a public display of we're in love and made this huge kiss because y' all had a fake breakup. What about that? People are going to remember the fake breakup. People are going to remember you coming up and being like, nope, I'd rather it be Rome go than me. No one's gonna. No one's gonna trust that when they see Rome come and Marcus territory all over you when you go to flirt with Kamu and Chuck. Yeah, they might buy into it a little bit, but a part of them has to be like, what is wrong? Thinking about this, and what. What should I think about what I just saw with you in Rome? You know, you put so much salt on your own game that by the time you tried to really play, you already had so much to overcome just being a part of that show mans and not really knowing how to keep that on the low.
David Bloomberg
I mean, you know, at least she picked two of the. Two of the dumbest members of the house to try that on. So.
Chappelle
Yeah, she was good. Yeah, she. She had it. Look, she had chops. I can't diss. I can't diss. I was very proud of some of the things I saw her pull out.
David Bloomberg
All right, well, that was a very long rule, too. Deservedly. So let's move on to the third rule, which talks about the need to be flexible. Now, we, of course, just talked about Lyric moving all over the place and the problems she had with it, but did any of that fall into the type of flexibility discussed in this room?
Chappelle
Well, I do like that she wasn't rigid in her gameplay. Right. Like, at first, it was, I'm with Rome, but it was like, oh, we need a breakup. Okay, fake breakup. Let's go. But it was like, still with Rome, it's like, all right, well, I need to get off the block, so I'm not gonna, you know, like, hey, take Rome. Don't take me. Like, then she was doing things that if she Was so rigid. She would never do right. If someone who's so locked into a showmance. We've seen showmans. To sit on the block holding hands so many different times. Because I just can't. I can't campaign against you. I'd rather be you than me, not her. She was like, no, you could be you. You know, it's fine. Like, and. But it took a lot to get her there, right? Like, it's like that. Like, you shouldn't have had that big of huge of a target on you from week one. Day one. Day one. I can't call you flexible if you're talking about getting married after eight days. After eight days. That's like the antithesis of flexibility. That's. That's very stable. That's like, you're. You're eight days, and y' all are talking about marriage. I just like, hey, you know, so it's like there are portions of her where I think, like, yeah, you should have been a lot looser. But when she got loose, David, when she decided to be flexible, she was open for all comers. Like, hey, everybody can get it.
Commercial Announcer
Any.
Chappelle
What y' all want to do? Who. Who do y' all want to. Who y' all want? Y' all want information on them? Y' all want information on them? Just don't pick me. She took Sandra's anybody with me strategy to the 10th power, and I appreciate that. But I don't know, David. Is that too flexible?
David Bloomberg
Yeah, I mean, I. I have to go back to something that I said in Rule 2, that although she was running around like that, she didn't have a coherent plan among all that running around. The idea of flexibility is, of course, to set yourself up so you have multiple choices in the way you proceed. Instead of doing that, she dropped her best choice and tried to get a new one. And, you know, she didn't wait till she was actually in that new choice to drop the first one. She didn't try to play both so she could see which way the winds were blowing. She cut the line to one and jumped to the other with no guarantee they would catch her, and she ended up just kind of splatting on the ground instead.
Chappelle
Yeah, but, like, yeah, she was. She. It was like she was flexible without any, like, type of aim. Right. It was just like, I just need somebody. I need. I don't care what it is. I need somebody. And so, yeah, like, I think she's flexible, but it needed a little polish, you know, this is like, flexibility for flexibility's sake. Is not. Is not all it's cracked up to be. You know, like, let's. If you're in a good, solid alliance, like, let's. Let's act even. Drew, right? Drew's so flexible that he's, like, willing to have all these conversations with everybody. He's playing all the sides of the house. He's doing all this kind of stuff. He's loyal to the people he's loyal to, but he's also working the room.
David Bloomberg
Right.
Chappelle
That's great. Until they see it. And then once the people see, like, hey, you're working the room. Even though he's not. Like you said, his actions or his words are saying one thing, his actions are different. So he's telling them, I'm loyal. I'm loyal, I'm loyal. It's like, oh, you're so loyal with us, and why are you laid up with Melody all day? It's like, well, you told me to. It's like. But all day, like, are you that. Are you loyal to us? They start to question it.
American Express Advertiser
It.
Chappelle
No, because they could see it. I think, for Lyric, like, yeah, she was flexible, but nobody was willing to let her in because she was too flexible. You know, she. She just didn't have any type of, like, a foundation to her loyalty. It was just the highest bidder at that point. And it's so early in the game, David, to be like that, you know, like, I could see that in the jury fairs, where you're just trying to. Bouncing from win to win, you know, just trying to make it, but, damn, it's the early stages. You're supposed to be in an alliance of six or eight people by now, you know, to where you're locked in. Y' all are going to win something. Y' all gonna flip the house. And. And they had so many opportunities, David, to, like, actually make some flips happen, and it just didn't work out.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. And that's the thing. Yeah, she just. Like I said, she's just running around. She was. She was constantly playing defense and trying to think of it, and it didn't. Without a plan, you're. You're just going to be spinning at that point.
Chappelle
Yeah, it's tough.
David Bloomberg
All right, well, the fourth rule says players should not let their emotions control them. And Lyric was, of course, Rome's showmance partner, and we already discussed some of the problems with that, but she at least tried to make it seem like she was playing unemotionally. Like when she was nominated by Devins, telling D, I feel terrible for Say it. But take me off and put Rome up. I want to be here in my game. I would rather him go than me. And, of course, you know, that was a plan they had both agreed to. So, you know, he was willing to sacrifice his game for her. She was not willing to do the same thing. So, you know, props to her in the game for that. But she wouldn't have had to try to prove it wasn't a problem if it hadn't been a problem.
Chappelle
It was a problem. So early on, you know, we talked about it with Rome. She got wrapped up in that love bubble. They both did the thing, the reason why, you know, when we were talking about Rome, I was like, he let his emotion get like, yeah, he would. He didn't get emotional in the sense that, like, oh, I'm getting called out. I should, you know, clap back at Devin's and, you know, go scorched earth. But he was so wrapped up in that love bubble with Lyric that he couldn't see the other pieces moving around him. He couldn't tell that these were, you know, bonds he was letting go. She gets the same criticism. Had she not done that, had she had this same similar energy of this, like, I'm going to the highest bidder, you know, whoever can, like, give me safety. She would have been right there as a. As the bottom of the tool alliance for the last two weeks, and they would have been fine. She would have been fine. It had been the bottom of two shell lines. They won all the power. She would have never been in a replacement nominee or anything like that. She'd have been fine. Now, maybe they looked at her as, like, oh, like, kind of like Drew, where they're like, I don't know if we could trust her. She's playing all the sides or whatever, but at least she would have. Her loyalty wouldn't have been questioned. But being loyal to Rome and his side. Rome leaves, you're still kind of loyal to Rome and his side because Jason's there. Jason leaves. Now you're like, oh, yeah, All. All of it to y'. All. All of it to y'. All. It's like, no, no, no. You dug that grave when Rome was here, when you were so wrapped up that you had to be latched on to him, and he had to be latched on to you, and y' all had to do all your things together. So, yeah, that was when the emotional Lyric was there. But I will give her credit. Once he was gone, once Jason was gone, emotional Lyric was gone, and she's like, as much crying as she did, I don't think that made her an emotional player in those moments. Like, she was crying, she was not happy about the things that she was doing, but she did not let that stop her from doing it. And so, you know, I'll give her some credit for this rule.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, I agree. I agree. She gets the credit there. I do have to go back, though, to her telling Haley all about Mallory and Melody and then running back to confess her sins. And, you know.
Chappelle
Yeah.
David Bloomberg
Earlier I mentioned I wasn't sure exactly why she did it, but in interviews, she said she felt guilty. But if you're going to make a move to cut off your former allies, you can't go crying back to them and tell them about it.
Chappelle
Yeah. And that goes back to the motion thing. Right. Like, I think guilt counts. You know, you can't let guilt take you out of the game. Right. This is a strategic game. It's cutthroat. You got a lot. You gotta cheat, you gotta backstab. Sometimes in Big Brother, it has to happen. And so if you can't say, lock in and say, this is not something I. I'm going to be able to do effectively, then don't do it. You know, if you can't throw them under the bus without feeling bad about it and having to come back and, you know, admit to it, then you shouldn't be doing it in the first place. Do something that you can. You can do something within your wheelhouse. I always tell people, I would never play a game like this because I, I just, I. I can't do that kind of thing. Like, I, I find nice enough to people, you know, all that kind of stuff. Like, that's, that's perfectly fine. But when you, when it's time for me to backstab somebody, oh, they. They're dead to me. They have to be like, I can't go back to them. You know, Like, I, that's not a skill that I have where, like, the good Big Brother players, they're able to do that and then come back and say, all right, you know, we messed up, but let's get back on the right page. You know, I would be such a, like, such a lyric in that, in that sense of, like, I couldn't do it and then not feel guilty about it and to where. So, like, she. She went a step further by going and admitting it. I would never do that, but I definitely would not be able to do the things that she was able to do in this. This week.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, I feel Like, I'd be able to if only because I had a lot of practice at my old job of doing things like that, you know, like with my boss, it was often a. With my boss for a lot of that time, it was often a game of, you have to determine who she. She's mad at someone all the time. So it's like, you have to make sure it's not bad. So, yeah, that means backstabbing someone. You gotta backstab them and then, you know, come back to them later. So that aspect, I think I'd be fine with. Other aspects. Yeah, not so much. But yeah, that, that aspect, I, I think experience would be fine with me there.
Chappelle
Yeah, she, she had, she had some moments where I definitely was thinking, like, dang, I don't know if she's cut out for this because she was doing so much crying.
David Bloomberg
Right.
Chappelle
But you know, when it, when push came to shove, she was willing to throw them people under the bus and move on with her life. She said, I need somebody to save me. Y' all aren't doing that for me. And I think that level of self interest is something that I can. It's very commendable.
David Bloomberg
Yeah.

All right, well, the fifth rule tells players they need to pretend to be nice and play the social game. And Lyric certainly was not voted out because she was hated like some other person in the house. But how did she do overall?
Chappelle
Here she. She's good at that. She's good at pretending to be nice and playing a social game when she wants to. But there are moments, there are definitely times and people that she did not give that energy to. And so that's why it's so transparent when she comes to them like dog and she says, oh, no, I swear I'm loyal to you. It's like I can see you pretending to be nice. You. When you pretend, the goal of pretending is towards you. You make the person believe something about you. Right? It's not pretend to be nice. And then we all know about it. Same thing we said about Jason. He's pretending to be nice and then telling people. I was rolling my eyes. I was making faces at the camera. You know, wait a minute. That's the part. That's the part that you're screwing up on. It's not the pretending. It's the people should also not know you're pretending. And with Lyric, it's like, she's got to be lying to somebody. Everybody cannot be Everybody could not be her favorite person right now. She cannot be completely loyal to everybody. When she. That scene that I. I think I alluded to it earlier, where she comes into. They're talking trash about kamu thugs. Like, drinking the wine out the bottle. Very good. Like, villain moment for thug, I would say. And then doorbell rings. Oh, look, it's Lyric. Hey, do you need anything? You want some water? You want any lunch? You want something to eat? How many times have you offered this woman something to eat over the last month? How many times have you come up and just, hey, just checking on you. Would you like that? If that's your M.O. then nobody will question It. If you're the person who's always doing nice things for people, always cooking, always bringing stuff from, nobody questions it. But if all of a sudden, now that I'm in power, you're up here, say, this looks so fake. And because it looks fake, it's like you're not pretending hard enough. So there was definitely people that she could have pretended better with, for sure.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Yeah. I think in general, she is a nice person. I think that. That, you know, and, you know, when. When she left, people certainly, like I said, they didn't do it because they disliked her. And there were plenty of tears to go around when. When she was voted out by the people who were her friends and had previously been her allies. But so they felt bad about it. Just not bad enough to keep her instead of Melody, you know, And a lot of that was exactly, as you said, the transparent nature of the pretending. So, yeah, that's. Yeah, I guess, you know, pretend. Do a good job of pretending to be nice.
Chappelle
Yeah, yeah, pretend. Well, yeah, don't let the people know you're pretending that that's kind of weird.
David Bloomberg
But she. She did know she had to do it, which was evident by her doing it, but also, like, she said something pertinent to this rule at her interview with Dalton Ross. He asked what the hardest thing was about being in the house, and she responded, the discipline of knowing that if you get upset at someone and having to keep that in and contain that. That's the hardest part, having the discipline to contain it. And, yes, that's where pretending to be nice comes in. And I do think. I mean, I don't know who she was upset at. Like, she talked about having to contain being upset. Even now after she's out, I don't know who she was upset at in particular that she contained. So I guess she, you know, did a good job in that regard.
Chappelle
Yeah, she just didn't. She really didn't just give that the same energy to the people that she was mad at. You know, like, if you look at. She does. She wasn't openly being mean to anybody, which is great. But, you know, it was clear where her loyalties lied. You know, it was clear. It was clear that she was with the Littles, you know, whether Melody and Mallory. It was clear, you know, like, Lala was not like, oh, yeah, me. Like, me and Lyric got a secret final suit. There was none of that, right, for Lala. There was none of that for Haley. There was none of that for even Devin's. You know, Devin's was Saving her, like, off the strength of the Rome thing that happened, you know, so she. She did a good job. I think that when we. In the preseason, we talk about who do we think is going to do the best job following the rules or whatever, and I think we were. We were highish on. On Lyric and, like, in comparison to some other people, obviously. But I do think that, like, yeah, although these rules are broken, there are levels to where you can break some of these rules. And this is, like, not a rule that I would say, like, she failed at miserably. You know, I think that, like, she could polish it up if she ever played again. It would be fun to see if she. If she could utilize these skills.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, I. I mean, I gave her a seven. You know, I. I thought that she would. She would, you know, be able to. To show, you know, that she could do it. And I. I still think she had potential. Like you said earlier. It's just. It. Yeah, the potential went away because of a main. A main reason that just, you know, scattered it from there. All right, well, the sixth rule says not to be too much of a threat. And we already mentioned it earlier in the game. You know, Lyric was avoiding strategy discussions and even later, never admitted to being a lawyer other than to Rome. So that was good. And there were some other things that she did to reduce her threat level as well. One of them you mentioned earlier, changing the tone of her voice according to who she was talking to. That was definitely a tactic, like you said, whether intentional or just learned over the years to just make herself appear less threatening. And I know some viewers found it very annoying, but you know what? Big Brother players do a lot of things. They're annoying, and if it works, great. It reminded me a bit of. People are gonna throw tomatoes at me for this one of Tony Vlachos saying how he modified his body language for winners at war to make himself seem less imposing and more submissive. The difference is him doing that was not as noticeable on screen because we didn't see it all the time. Right. Whereas her voice, obviously, much more noticeable to us, especially watching the live feeds. And it. You know, what she did definitely helped convince at least Kamu and probably Chuck that she was a poor damsel in distress who needed to be rescued.
Chappelle
It was working. It was working. I can't. I can't hate her like she was. She was trying to minimize her threat level. You know, even I think, wearing the pigtails, you know, I think it just, like, kind of gives, like, an infantilization of Yourself, right? Where it's like, oh, yeah, I shouldn't worry about them. They're just a widow girl. You know, she's like, yeah, this me. I'm just. I'm.
David Bloomberg
We.
Chappelle
You don't have to worry about me. You know, that's kind of the vibe she was giving, and I think it was working, and I want to give her kudos for that. I think that. I think that the majority of the house would not have said she was a threat. That. I think that. I think that toward the end, she started to show her teeth.
David Bloomberg
Yes.
Chappelle
It became. She looked a lot threatening, but I won't. I won't criticize her for that. You know, like, there. Like, there are some things that you're just like. Like, you. You can try your best to do something, and then if the chips don't fall the way they should, you know, sometimes you just end up floundering. I think she ended up a place where she was floundering. And, yeah, if you looked at it from the grand scheme of things, you're like, yeah, one day, this woman could be a threat. Right. This woman could be a problem for us. We were. I think, you know, anybody who's been watching the live fees have been like, hey, Lyric is somebody you should be watching. You know? But I think she did a good job of convincing them that she was not somebody that you should be watching until it was. It was too. Until it was too late, basically. You know, it was like, you know, once. Once it became transparent, everybody could see it. Yeah.
David Bloomberg
And some things that changed were like, she won that veto, and she crushed everyone in that veto. She showed that people might need to worry about her in the future, especially as compared to other people who haven't showed that. And, you know, I mentioned it earlier. She said in interviews it was obvious she would go home against someone who hadn't won anything. Okay, that's not obvious. I said that, too.
Chappelle
It's.
David Bloomberg
It's not like she was Keanu or Kelly winning everything over here. So, you know, a bit of an exaggeration there on her part. But was she more of a threat because of it? Sure. And like you just said, more importantly, because the way she was trying to manipulate people and got caught doing it, that was more threatening to other players, especially in comparison to who she was up against. Melody.
Chappelle
And it's not her fault that Melody was just not. Not playing. Melody was not taking an active role and just being like, no, you know what? I'm going to make myself look small. Maybe they won't vote me out. That's not what she was doing. Melody was. Her feelings were hurt. She was up. One of her. Her biggest opps put her on the block. She thought she was up against her showmans. With Drew there, she was down and out. She did not have the killer instinct that Lyric has. And so. And honestly, Drew didn't either. Both of them were up there just kind of just watching their game slip away. And Lyric was rising to the occasion. And just in contrast, it made her look so much more just attractive to get rid of, because he said, why would we get rid of these other two? They're not even trying. This woman is trying. I'm not going to fault her for trying, David.
David Bloomberg
I'm not. Yeah. And it's. It's like I talked about earlier, that Drew accidentally saved himself. I would say the same for Melody. I had all sorts of notes about how in the days leading up to the vote, she just sat around. I think on Wednesday, she talked to one person other than, you know, Drew and Mallory. And, you know, she. The votes were not flipped because Melody made a push to do it. It was flipped for other reasons. And. And so, you know, some people will say, and I. Don't get me wrong, I love Melody. I. I love her bluntness. I love that she doesn't have scripted diary rooms that she's gonna say it like it is. I think she has potential as a game player, but she's got to get out of her funk. Although her funk saved her this time compared to Lyric.
Chappelle
Lyric didn't get in the funk. That's it. That's what I'll give. I'll give her that. When things got rough, she pivoted. She was like. That's why I said I have to give her credit for flexibility, but I also have to give her credit for this. It's not her fault that she decided to take matters in her own hands and try to save herself when people did not try to save themselves. There was not strategy on their part. They just were either, like Drew out of the loop or, like Melody had given up. And so in comparison to the other two options, she was the obvious choice. And I don't think that's her fault.
David Bloomberg
Right. All right, well, the seventh rule says to trust almost nobody, and Lyric obviously trusted Rome, and, you know, that went okay for her. But since then, I'm. I'm trying to think of who she trusted that turned against her. And I don't know that I can pinpoint anyone. She. She tried to work with certain people, like Kamu and Chuck. But I wouldn't say she trusted them, per se.
Chappelle
Yeah, I mean, I think she was really locked in with the Littles. I think those were her people and her. Mallory and Melody. I think there were definitely moments where they realized they couldn't trust her, and then they started throwing her under the bus and then. So of course, she in turn had to throw them under the bus and then back and forth. But in general, I think she's fine with this rule. I think you rating her a 7 preseason was pretty apt because, you know, she didn't do everything perfectly. But there are definitely spaces where I can give her way more credit than I could a normal Big Brother player.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. All right, well, with that, it's about time to wrap things up. So what are your final thoughts about lyrics?
Chappelle
I think going too soon. I do. I think that there's something there, gameplay wise, maybe not story wise. I think the wrong thing happens. But I also think people get wrapped into showmances pretty often. And what I'll say is, normally when people get wrapped in the showmances, it's the woman who falls to the wayside of that showmance, and the man will go on to win the game or something like that. We've seen it time and time again. I think Cody Nixon is a good example of that, you know, where, you know, they're. They're. He's locked in with this showmance, but, you know, we're gonna let him stay and then see what happens, you know, and it's happened. So I think it's happened several other times. You know, I think I could probably start back at the very beginning of Big Brother and say, like, you know, Dr. Will was in the showman's first season. Look at how he. Well, he does. You know, I think for her surviving that and then showing that she had the chops to do other stuff was very good and impressive. But I do think that, you know, had she not started off getting wrapped up in the wrong TV show. All right, this is Big Brother. This is not Love Island. This is not the Bachelor. If you find love there, fine. That's great. It's a Big Brother. You can. You can find love here. It's happened so many times. But once you let that, you know, hinder your game at the very beginning, you're gonna have an uphill battle every time. And she just did. So, yeah, maybe we'll see her on something else. But I think this is the end of the road for Lyric, as far as I can see. I don't, I don't think I can see her on another show right now. Maybe Love Island.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, well, I mean, she's found her match in Rome, so she can't.
Chappelle
Oh, yeah, she's married now, so never mind. Yeah, she can't do that. Married at first sight discount. Yeah.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Lyric's father saying the lyrics, you don't have to change a thing. I love you just the way you are. But Lyric clearly did need to change some things if she wanted to get further in. Big Brother, first and foremost, would have, you know, been not having an obvious showmance right off the bat, to the point that it hindered her early game. Her failure to make other relationships, especially game related ones, was the initial push that started her game rolling downhill. Her game instincts kicked in and she saved herself then. But she had to start making promises she could never keep. And then it just kept going from there. Meanwhile, she had her close allies, but when push came to shove, she, well, pushed and shoved them right under a bus. As soon as she did it, she told them about it. Worse than that, other people saw her do it and became worried that they would be next if they trusted her. Lyric definitely played the game. She tried and she had some successes. But the way she handled being on the defensive took its toll. As did overplaying things because of that. That even if she fooled Camus and Chuck with her fake flirting, someone was going to notice. And they did. Even if she promised safety, someone was going to compare notes and realize she was doing it so often that it was meaningless. All of this led to her being nominated. And then in the end, it came down to a comparison. Who would people rather keep around her or Drew? Her or Melody? For the battles to come, she was sucking up to the wrong side. Even when given the opportunity to declare herself against them, she wouldn't do it. Which only added to the perception that she couldn't be trusted. If she tossed aside the people she was closest to, how could anyone believe she would not do it again? Drew and Melody, however, had very definite targets. They could both be used as weapons and shields. That made them more valuable to keep around. Lyric just saying one too many of the wrong songs to the wrong people and couldn't, could not stick to the right tune. It was like American Idol all over again for her. And that is why Lyric lost.
Chappelle
Man. That's a, That's a good summary. American Idol all over again. She's. She's a star, you know, There's a reason why she's on all these Shows. Right. There's a reason why she's on American Idols. I think she's. She's trying to do music. It. But also she. She stood out here on Big Brother. I think coming out so early in the game, this is not indicative of who she is as a player or, like, you know, she didn't flame out. I wouldn't say that. And I don't think she was a flop on TV either. So sad to see her go, but hopefully we'll see some more of her in the future. I just. I don't see it.
David Bloomberg
But, you know, maybe we'll see, you know. Roman Lyric. The wedding of Roman Lyric, broadcast on cbs, hosted by Julie Chen, Moonvest.
Visible Wireless Advertiser
Yeah.
Chappelle
Julie loves this show, man. So much. So, yeah, she just. Oh, God. Julie was wrong about. I get it. Love one another, but Julie, God damn, this girl got out the house. Right now, you already talking about marriage. Stop it. She can. She breathed.
David Bloomberg
To be fair, Lyric was the one who brought up marriage for. Or Lyric. Or Rome brought it up first.
Chappelle
Rome brought up marriage first. Yes. I just feel like she just got out.
Commercial Announcer
Y'.
Chappelle
All. Let her. Let her. Let her get her bearings first. I even got her phone back.
David Bloomberg
But I did, like, because I was saying this earlier. I did like that in interviews. I don't remember if it was with Julie or someone else. She said Rome is going to have to move to Hawaii because previously I had seen, I think, Rome saying something about her moving to Florida. And it's like, you're a tennis and pickleball coach. She is a lawyer. Plus, I know from friends who were lawyers who wanted to, like, semi retire to Florida. Florida has. They don't have reciprocal agreements for the bar. And their bar is harder than most others because they want to protect their homegrown lawyers. They don't want people coming in and semi retiring and, like, stealing away law business from people who are truly trying to do it there. So I, you know, I think it only makes sense. Sorry, Rome. Your tennis and pickleball coaching is a lot more transportable, especially to Hawaii, than for her to pick up her whole life and move to Florida. And he's already moved from Michigan once, so, you know, just go to Hawaii also.
Chappelle
I know. Get your tomatoes and your bricks ready. Hey, Florida. Florida. You want me to leave Hawaii to go to Florida?
David Bloomberg
Yeah.
Chappelle
Rome, Please, please. Stop it.
David Bloomberg
Yes.
Chappelle
Grow up.
David Bloomberg
Yeah.
Chappelle
I'm sorry. Okay.
David Bloomberg
Hopefully he will.
Chappelle
Sorry to the Floridians out there, but y' all know where y' all live.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Yeah. All right. Well, everybody Be sure to stay tuned for our spoiler free predictions in a moment. And first, of course we have a few other pieces of information. I want to mention that the rules we were referencing here are similar to the Survivor rules and those rules come in a shorter and much more colorful version in poster form. And so you can go to robhazawebsite.com yxlostfeed scroll down to the poster, click on it and order it. They also come in poster on a T shirt form and checklist on a T shirt form. So again, I know we don't have any Big Brother ones. I know, I know. But, but you know, these are, these are similar and if you're a fan of both, then by all means click, click away now. Also, since Big Brother is a 247 game, make sure you follow us on social media to get all our full thoughts, including those made famous by Chappelle on, on Unlocked. I, I have, I have not made it to the segment, to the creator segment yet probably because I don't sing songs which no one wants to hear by the way. But I do post videos every day on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. I'm @David Bloomberg TV. I make about two or three per day. Fun stuff from the show, some live feed updates, my thoughts on what's happening, the occasional psychological analysis. Like I said, I just passed 15,000 followers on TikTok trying to get 10,000 on Instagram. I won an award on TikTok. I won a contest called confessional chaos. It's a TV and movie award. The way TikTok works. They haven't actually told me which of my entries won so I can't like promote it. They've told me they're going to let me know but they haven't. But still I won an award there. I placed in two other TV related categories. So it's great that this is happening. I wish I could advertise and say hey, look at these videos, these award winning videos. But you'll just have to come watch all of my videos there. And like I said, trying to get to 10,000 on Instagram and I have a little over 50,000 on YouTube so come join the fun.
Chappelle
That's incredible. David. I, I just hit 3000 on YouTube like today. Seriously, like I think today I'm glad.
David Bloomberg
I mean my YouTube was, I want to say it was, I hate to say this but it was kind of a fluke. I had one video, an Australian survivor video that went super viral. I believe it is the most viewed, certainly Australian Survivor video, possibly survivor video anywhere. It has like, I don't know, 90 some million views and it's just something I put together with music and stuff like that. And that helped get a lot on YouTube. And then, you know, I've been happy that many of them have stuck around. So just, yeah, follow, follow me everywhere. In addition, I have started podcasting about the Traders Australia Season three on the Trader podcast. I co hosted episode one. I will be co hosting episode three shortly. I'll be back once a week all season. I'm also going to be co hosting some of the Traders India podcasts which starts this coming Thursday. And then the Traders Ireland was just announced for the end of the month. And then the Traders us is going to come shortly. They are trying to kill me. Can't you wait until Big Brother is done, please? But you could find the Trader that's T R A I D A r either on YouTube or wherever you get podcasts. And of course you can find all of my various accounts at linktree David Bloomberg, including Blue Sky. We talked about it already. We make our social media homes there. We encourage everyone else to do likewise and join us there.
Chappelle
Yep, I'm Chappelle's Kickback on Blue sky and you can find David at David Bloomberg. You can follow me across all social media platforms and check out everything we're doing over on Recap Kickback. That's at Recap Kickback on all social media platforms. I cover your favorite shows, movies and all things entertainment. This week, finishing up House of the Dragon with Mari. We have a Brett Steel that we're doing. It's a Big Brother game but with some cartoon characters with me, Gia and eight ball bangers Isaiah as well. So check that out. This week, Chantel and I are still going live every Sunday to talk about the flavor of love cinematic universe. So there's a lot of good content over there. And if you're a Big Brother fan, you can catch me podcasting about all the sloppiness of Big Brother, all the mess that you won't hear me talking about here as much, but you can catch that behind the paywall patreon.com rh on the slop and then every other week talking about BB Unlocked where I don't know, you might catch my name get dropped on them. So that's kind of cool too. So you know, catch me in all those places. And thank y' all all for supporting like I said, all the kind things that you said about the the name drop this week.
David Bloomberg
Yeah, yeah. Your your house of the Dragon podcast with Mari has been very helpful to me in, uh, in watching that. And I often share yours and, And. And Mari's opinions, especially about things that are going on there. Her frustrations, especially about.
Chappelle
About.
David Bloomberg
It really, really helps me out because I can't remember half of these people's names or, you know, what's going on, and I wonder why they're focusing on certain things. And then I listen to Mari, and she's saying the same thing, so that's great.
Chappelle
Yeah, same. I'm about. I'm bad with the names. If you're listening to the podcast, you know, if you've heard me, you know, but Mari is. She's. She's good. She's good when it comes to that kind of stuff, and so it's been a very fun experience, and thank you for listening.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. I also want to let everyone know, in case you missed it when I mentioned it a couple weeks ago, I will be at rahabcon in Milwaukee at the end of August. Hopefully, I will see some of you there. If you haven't gotten tickets yet, you can get them@arahapcon.com and it looks like it'll be a fun time. I. You know, and so definitely, you know, if I'm. If you see me, if you want to get together, if you want to chat, come up to me. Talk to me. Just be warned. I have a terrible memory for faces and names. So if I. If we've met before and I don't recognize you or we've chatted on Blue sky or on Facebook, I apologize in advance if I don't remember it. It's just me. It is not you. It is me. And so. But please feel free to come up to me at any time. I will no doubt be wearing, you know, the why blank lost shirts. And, you know, hopefully we'll. We'll see a bunch of those there as well.
Chappelle
They should come up to you and say, oh, I loved you on the why Larkin Lost podcast and see if you remember that name.
David Bloomberg
That name I remember. Yeah,
Chappelle
Yeah, that's. Go, Go. Yeah, go talk to David at. God, it's gonna be so cool. Like I said, you're gonna be wearing the shirts. Hope. You know, I've been trying to push for y' all to get some merch. We'll see what happens. Feeds.
David Bloomberg
Yeah. Yeah. All right, well, time for predictions. As I said before, we write these up before the HOH comp. In this case, we had, you know, a couple hours of waiting for it before the wall, so yeah. Even if you don't want to know what happened on live feeds, you don't have to worry. We're not going to spoil it for you. We knew the wall was coming ahead of time. It was sent out in emails. Apparently I'm not signed up for those emails, but. But that part isn't to spoil it and that informed my prediction or at least hopefully informed my prediction. We will see. I felt like d could do well in this comp much the same like she won the survivor poll contest, though I don't know whether her big toe will help her here the same way it did on the poll. The question is, okay, let's. Let's go with that and say she wins. What does she do after her. Considering her plan was to try to throw suspicion on people like Camus and Chuck and Yash for switching their votes, I think she could keep up that facade and nominate them by saying, well, one of you is lying and we need to figure out who. And then of course after that it gets harder to predict because any of those three could win veto or blockbuster. But I'm just going to go out on a limb. I'm going to say neither of those will be in Kamu's wheelhouse and he will end up getting taken out. Or I could just be making a chappelle type prediction and hoping that's where it goes.
Chappelle
I'm so happy that we're on the same page that we need to make a chappelle type of prediction this week because I too predict Kamu going out, but I think this is going to be at the hands. Well, there's two ways of looking at this, right? What I want to happen, what I and what I think is going to happen. Both of those things end up with Kamu leaving. I would love for Melody to win the wall comp. She this was such a week of her just being down and out and you know, her biggest ops had her on the block. That's one of my favorite tropes in big brother is where the person who was on the block goes on to win hoh. That is so fun to me. Right? That's the Rachel give me that key bitch moment. You know, like those are the things that we live for for. But I don't think Melody has it in her. I don't think she is the competition prowess. So I'm gonna lean on the pipe queen. I think she's been winning a little bit. She. She's jacked. You know, she's got some arms on her. You know, and so I don't know how beneficial that's gonna be in the walls. Yeah, she's got some pipes and so I'm very excited to see that, like, okay, boom. She's got a low center of gravity. We've seen that work on the wall before too. And she hates the red corner. And so for me, I think that if Mallory ends up winning this, she puts up the entire red corner. You got Haley, you got Chog. Well, you got Chocmu, you got Haley, Chuck and Kamu on the block. Whoever wins or doesn't win the veto doesn't even matter because two of them will be on the block on eviction night. And then at that point, whichever one will go, I just think it's going to be Kamu. So that's my prediction.
David Bloomberg
All right. All right. Well, as we wrap up, I want to encourage people. Check out the RJP Patron Program at robhazawebsite.com patron in addition to the Facebook groups and discord and discounts on things like, like for Hapcon, Rob has several Patron only podcasts for Big Brother, including the one you already mentioned, the Slop and a Q and A and some other things. I honestly, I can't even keep track of them all. So there's a lot to. A lot of reasons to become a patron.
Chappelle
Yep. It helps you support shows like ours. This network needs to be funded to keep going and so the patron community is definitely very beneficial for that. It's a great community to join, but the quickest way to get into that is Rob has a website.com patron.
David Bloomberg
Yes. And make sure you're subscribed to all the RJP podcasts at RA. We know, we know, we know bigbrother.com I mean, we know Survivor also for the other part of the year, but you just, you know, go in, select your podcast service of choice, find all the good Big Brother content, great Big Brother content like us and the live feeds and the each, you know, the episodes covering each, recapping each TV show. Everything else is there.
Chappelle
Yep. And we also want to give a big shout out to Scott St. Pierre, Jess Sterling and the entire RHAP and reality TV wrap ups family for behind the Screens. We truly appreciate everything that they do from posting and all the work that happens behind the scenes to keeping everything running. We couldn't do it without you and we are incredibly grateful for all your hard work.
David Bloomberg
All right, well, also thank you, Chappelle, for another great episode. This was our longest. I did not necessarily expect this to be our longest so far, but we had a lot of things to discuss both with Lyric and before getting to Lyric. We will of course see everyone in a week once again to, you know, hopefully discuss why Kamu lost. We will. We will have to find out and in the meantime, find us everywhere on social media as we discussed earlier, to get all of our immediate thoughts on things that are happening. But until then, bye.

Episode: BB28 Why Lyric Lost Week 4
Hosts: David Bloomberg & Chappelle
Date: August 8, 2026
Main Focus: Analyzing why BB28 contestant Lyric was evicted this week, using the podcast’s “Why X Lost” rules format.
In this week’s deep-dive, David Bloomberg and Chappelle examine the fourth eviction of Big Brother 28, focusing on Lyric and the complex web of social, strategic, and emotional gameplay that led to her downfall. Through RHAP’s signature rules-based analysis, they break down Lyric’s strengths and critical missteps, contextualize the week’s house chaos, and discuss the meta-game of shifting alliances, blindsides, and the unique influence of returning players like Dee and Devins.
Quote:
“That was so kind. And Taylor and I guess Jerry O’Connell—he doesn’t know who I am, but the other two—Taylor knows who I am, Derek knows I exist...I’m still in shock.” —Chappelle (03:26)
Memorable Moment:
David shows off a crocheted “emotional support dumpster fire” representing the attitude of the week: “It’s fine. Everything is fine.” (07:14)
Key Quote:
“D is playing a game and the rest of them are living in the Big Brother house.” —Chappelle (16:20)
Quote
“[Dee] is the ventriloquist; Haley is the dummy.” —David Bloomberg (19:45)
Memorable Conclusion:
“Lyric just sang one too many of the wrong songs to the wrong people and could not stick to the right tune. It was like American Idol all over again for her. And that is why Lyric lost.” —David Bloomberg (96:46)
Drew’s Denial:
“He was like basically the dog in the meme saying everything is fine while the world burned around him.” —David Bloomberg (06:19)
Blindside Motive:
“They blindsided them out of boredom... they just enacted their will on the entire house.” —Chappelle (16:59)
On Flexibility:
“She was flexible, but nobody was willing to let her in because she was too flexible.” —Chappelle (73:24)
Final Lyric Analysis:
“She definitely played the game. She tried and she had some successes. But the way she handled being on the defensive took its toll.” —David Bloomberg (94:30)
| Timestamp | Segment Description | |-------------|------------------------------------------------------------------------| | 02:22-05:33 | Chappelle’s “Unlocked” shoutout, BB fandom meta-talk | | 05:33-14:00 | Chaos of Drew’s non-blindside, pawn logic | | 14:04-24:21 | D and Devins’ manipulation, Haley’s “blindside”, Blue Sky's rise | | 28:58-32:18 | “Julie Chen is wrong” segment | | 35:15-94:30 | "Why Lyric Lost": Rule-by-rule breakdown of Lyric’s gameplay | | 92:58-97:43 | Final Thoughts: Did Lyric have real potential? |
This summary should provide a detailed, episode-accurate snapshot: from Lyric's pitfalls (late social connections, over-flexibility, emotional game switches), to the week’s twists (unnecessary blindside, memeworthy confusion), to the hosts’ personal takes on both the game and BB fandom at large. The quotes, timestamps, and breakdowns above allow you to quickly target topics of interest or match up with live feed drama for deeper context.
