This program is made possible by the giving of the God called Partners of Renner Ministries. Get ready for a teaching that feeds your spirit and your mind, where the Word is the anchor in uncertain times and doctrine doesn't bend to culture. We keep it simple, but dive deep, revealing a truth that strengthens us, a love that emboldens, and a mission that touches the world. Let's join Rick Renner. Welcome to today's program. My name is Rick Renner and I've been waiting for you. And today I'm beginning a brand new series called what Jesus Said About My Son. Joel calls this the Red Letter edition because I'm going to be teaching a whole lot of different series this year called what Jesus Says about and then we add in and this week we're adding in the final say so of God's Word, what Jesus Said about the final say so of God's Word. My friends, God's Word needs to have the final say so in our life. But this is a five part series which comes in multiple formats and it comes with a great study guide. And the study guide is just loaded with all the points and principles that is in the series so that you can read the material while you are seeing or hearing the series. And I want to tell you about a book that dramatically impacted my life. It is by Kenneth E. Hagin and the name of the book is the Authority of the Believer. If you don't already have that book, that's a book that you need. It was very foundational to my own life and my friends. You need to have this book. And today and every day this week we're offering you a free gift. A beautifully designed confession sheet that has confessions about the Word of God. And we've designed it just for you so you can display it in your home and you can declare what you believe and what you're believing to take place in your life as a result of God's Word having a final say so in your life. But if you'd like to know more about these resources or if you'd like to receive the free sheet with confessions about the Bible, just give us a call or go online and please, when you reach out to us, let us know how to pray for you. We are praying for you anyway. In fact, the first thing I did this morning when I got up is I prayed for those who watch my TV program and I prayed for our partners who mean so very much to me. And if you're not already a partner, we invite you to become a partner with our ministry but if you've got a specific prayer need, call that number on the screen. And as I often tell you, write it down and save it. So sometimes if you get into a fix and you need somebody to pray for you, but you're not watching the program and you don't see the number, you'll have it and you'll have a number that you can call. We know how to pray. We will pray biblically. We will pray scripturally. God will hear us according to Jeremiah 33. 3. And God will do something spectacular for you. I believe there's an answer with your name on it waiting for you to ask. And we'll ask with you. But just call the number on the screen or give us. But hey, I want you to reach for your Bible. Today we're talking about what Jesus said about the final say so of God's Word. And I want to take you back to my childhood. And if you grew up a Southern Baptist, go with me back to your childhood. When I was a very little boy and I was called Ricky Renner, little Ricky Renner attended vacation Bible school every year with all the other kids from our church. And every morning we would march into the auditorium and we would take our seats. And the moment would come when we would stand and we would pledge allegiance to the Christian flag. And then we would give our pledge for the Bible. And our pledge to the Bible said, I pledge allegiance to the Bible, God's holy word. I will make it a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my paths that I may not sin against God. I was just a little boy when I began to speak this pledge to the Bible. But my friends, I've had a pledge to the Bible all my life. And the Scripture has had the final say so in my life. And the Scripture is to have the final say so in your life. And in fact, when we go to the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:18, we find what a tremendous respect and honoring Jesus had for the Scriptures. And my friends, what Jesus did is what we must do. So let's see what Jesus said in Matthew 5:18. He said, for verily this word verily means indeed, surely it is emphatic. You can be sure of it. For verily I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, not one jot, not one title, shall in no wise pass from the law till it be fulfilled. Now, when Jesus talks about the law, it's the Greek word nomos, which refers to the sacred text or two scriptures. So Jesus is really talking about the Scriptures in this verse. And he says, not one jot. Well, in Greek it's the word iota. The word iota is the smallest letter of the Greek Alphabet that really is the word which Jesus used. Not one iota, even the smallest, smallest letter of the Alphabet, it's not going to pass. And then Jesus added, or one tittle. And this word tittle means one stroke of the brush or one stroke of the pen. So when you put it all together, Jesus says, the very smallest letter of the Alphabet, even the smallest little brush of the pen or the smallest little brush of a writing instrument, it will in no wise pass. And when you read this in the original text, it says, no, it will not pass. It is a double negative. No, it will not. Jesus is making an emphatic statement about the reliability of the Word of God. So Jesus says, not one jot, not one iota, not even the smallest brush of the pen. No, it will not pass from the law. And again, this word law gives us Jesus view of the Scriptures because it is the Greek word nomos. And this word nomos describes the law. And it is used always to describe the Scriptures. And for Jesus, the Scriptures were not optional, they were a law. The Scriptures had a final say so in his life. And if this was true of Jesus, who is the word of God, then it needs to be true of us. And just like Jesus saw the word of God as having the final say, so it was a law unto him, it needs to be a law unto us. And we need to align our lives with the final say so of God's word. And it says, it shall in no wise pass from the law till all be fulfilled. And my friends, the word all is the word panta. The word pan means all. But when it becomes panta, the word ta refers to every little detail. It literally means until even the smallest, most minute details written in it are fulfilled. Look at the respect and the honor which Jesus had for the Scriptures. And it reminds me of 2 Timothy 3:14, where Paul was writing to Timothy, and Timothy was raised by a Jewish mother. And he says to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:14, but continue thou in the things which thou hast learned, and hast been assured of knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And the word continue is very important. It is a form of the Greek word meno. Now listen to this. The word menno means to remain, to abide or to stay, to firmly endure, to continue steadfastly, or to be unwavering. It means to be unmoving. It pictures a decision to remain steadfast to a location or principle to hold one's ground to the point of even fighting back. And this word continued, the Greek word minnow was used militarily to picture soldiers who were to hold territory gained even in the face of assault. And I believe that is very pertinent for you and me because we're living in a day when people are trying to modify the scriptures. People are becoming woke in what they think. They're trying to change morals. And my friends, we are told to continue. This is a command of Scripture, which means we are to fight back and to hold our territory. If we feel that we or what we believe is under assault, we're not to let go, we're to hold fast, we're to be unmoving, we're to be unwavering. That's what this word continue means. Then in verse 15, Paul goes on to say, and that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. The word child is the Greek word brephos. It describes a breastfeeding baby. And here we have the picture of Timothy's mother holding him to her breast. And even from that early age, she was already speaking the word of God to her child. And friend, if you're a parent with a baby, don't wait until they get older. You begin to instruct your child from the moment they're breastfeeding, from the time of infancy, my friends, their spirit has the ability to receive even when they're young. And here we find that Timothy's mother was pouring the word of God into him from the time that he was an infant. It reminds me of my own mother because my mother poured the word of God into me. And I really relate to this verse that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures. And wow, this term Holy Scriptures is so very important. It really agrees with what Jesus said in Matthew chapter 5 about not one jot, not even the smallest letter, not one tittle, not even one brush of the pen will pass away. Because holy Scriptures really means the holy or sacred writings. And it refers to every brush of the pen and every letter, every stroke, even the very smallest stroke. All of it is holy and it is sacred. And this is the view that we should have as Scripture. It's not optional. It's not something that man created. The Scriptures have a final say. So in our life. And here we find that both Paul and Timothy had this view of the Scripture that every marking, every little jot, every little Tittle, Every bit of it was sacred. And Paul says they are able to make you wise unto salvation. And that word able is a form of the Greek word dunami. But here it means being able. It pictures the scripture as having ability or the scripture as having power. Having the ability or having the power to make you wise. And this word wise is a form of the Greek word sophos. It does not describe wisdom that you get from books. This word sophos depicts wisdom not naturally attained, which means when the word of God has a final say so in your life, it makes you smart. It gets you wisdom that you can't get from a book. It's supernatural. It is wisdom not naturally attained. Or it could be translated special insight. However, it was also used to portray highly educated people such as scientists, philosophers, doctors, teachers and others who were considered to be the super intelligentsia of society. It was those that were deemed to be brilliant, intellectually sharp, or especially enlightened. A class of individuals whom the world would call clever, astute, smart or intellectually brilliant. It was a term used to describe those that were considered to be intellectually impressive. And, and that we're cut above the rest of society. Now that is just amazing. But when God's word has the final say so in your life, it gives you what others do not have. We're told that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. And my friend, when you have a reverence for the scriptures and you allow the scriptures to have a final say so in your life, it gives you wisdom not naturally attained, it gives you special insight and it makes you smarter than others. You know, there's a lot of smart people, but they have no common sense. But when you have the word of God working in you, and it has a final say so in your life, my friends, it causes you to be a cut above the rest of society. That is what the Bible does in you. But it goes on to say it makes you wise unto salvation. And the word salvation is a form of the Greek word soteria, which is, which indeed means salvation. But it expresses the ideas of deliverance, healing, preservation, safety, prosperity, soundness of mind and general warfare, which means when the word of God is working in you, and when you allow the word of God to have the final say so in your life and you determine you're going to obey, releases such profound power in you that first of all it makes you smart, it gives you common sense, you become a cut above everybody else. That is just amazing. But beyond that, it produces in you deliverance it produces in you healing the word of God. When it has a final say so in your life, it preserves you, it gives you soundness of mind, and generally it just makes your life better. That's what happens when God's word has the final say so in your life. But then when you go to 2 Timothy 3:16, Paul then tells us this. All scripture is given by inspiration of God. The word all is a form of the Greek word pasa. It is all inclusive, leading nothing out. It means every single word of scripture disagrees with what Paul had just said in 2 Timothy 3:15 about the holy Scriptures. It agrees with what Jesus said in Matthew 5 about not one jot, not one tittle of the law passing, my friends, all scripture. And the word Scripture is a form of the Greek word graphe, which refers to scripture or holy text. We're talking about the Bible. All scripture is given by inspiration of God. And those words given by inspiration of God are from the Greek word theopneustos. Now we have to pause there and consider what this word means. The word theo comes from the word theos. It's where you get the word theology, but it means God. The word penustos is from the word penu. And the word penu has three primary meanings, and I've got to give them to you. Number one, the word penu described creative power. For example, when you go to Genesis chapter one and it says that the spirit of God brooded upon the face of the deep, and the spirit of God released his creative power to begin the act of creating, it's this word penu. And therefore we find this word penu describes creative power. And it means the scriptures carry within them creative power. Creative power. But number two, this word penu was also used to describe an aroma or a fragrance. For example, in the ancient world, if you wanted to go down to the local store and buy some perfume, you would walk in and say, I'm here to buy some pennu. I want to buy some fragrance. I wanna buy a perfume. And it tells us that when the word of God is released in your life, it releases a new aroma in your life. Which means if you don't like the smell of what's going on inside your house or what's going on inside your life, then you need to surrender to the final say so of God's word. Because, number one, it will release creative power in your life. And number two, when you give God's word the final say so in your life, it brings a new aroma into your life. It will Bring a new smell into your marriage, it will bring a new fragrance into your finances. The word of God just brings new smells. And my friends, they are fragrant. But hey, number three, this word panu was used to describe the music that was produced by holding the flute to your lips. And the flute player would breathe, that's the word pannu would breathe into the instrument and suddenly begin to produce the most beautiful sound. And now we find that if you feel like your life is consumed with a lot of bad sounds and heavy, oppressive environments, if you will give God's word the final say so in your life, it will bring new music into your life. All of that is in this word panu theopneustos given by inspiration of God. My friends, when God breathed his breath into the scriptures, he put into the scriptures, number one, creative power. When God breathed his breath into the scriptures, number two, he put new fragrance, a new aroma into the scriptures. And number three, he put the very sounds of heaven into the scriptures. And when you dive into the word of God and you allow the word of God to have the final say so in your life, suddenly creative power is released in your life. New fragrances are produced in your life. And rather than hear a lot of bad sad music in your life, suddenly you've got the sounds of heaven working in your life. But my friends, just like you have to open the cap on a bottle to get the smell of the perfume, you've got to dive into the scriptures. You've got to open the scriptures and allow the scriptures to have a final say so in your life. And then it will begin to produce creative power, a new smell and a new sound in your life. But you got to give God's word the final say so for those three things to be produced in your life. And it goes on in verse 16 to say it is profitable for doctrine, it is profitable for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. My friends, that's what the word of God does in us when we give it the final say so in our life. And I particularly love the word instruction. This word instruction means to give a child everything necessary to prepare him for life. And when you really surrender to the Word of God and give it the final say so in your life, it outfits you, it equips you, it gives you everything you need to be successful in life. But hey, it goes on to say it's also good for correction. And this word correction is so very important because it describes a person that's been knocked flat by life. But the word Correction means to take a person that's laying on their back and to pick them up and put them on their feet again. You know, charismatics love to go to meetings where they fall under the power. But now we find that when God's Word is working in your life, if you're already laying flat and you've been decimated by life, God's Word, if you will give it the final say so in your life, it will pick you up off the ground, it will pick you up out of that collapsed condition and it will put you back on your feet again. That's what the Bible will do if you will give it final say so in your life. Now listen to this, Smith Wigglesworth wrote in the back flap of his Bible. Here it is. Never compare this book with other books. Comparisons are dangerous. Never think or say that this book contains the Word of God. It is the Word of God. It is supernatural in origin, eternal in duration, inexpressible in value, infinite in scope, infallible in authority, universal in interest, personal in application, inspired in totality. Read it in, work it out and pass it on. It is the Word of God and my friends, you need to give God's Word the final say so in your life. I'll be back in just a moment and I'm going to pray for you.
