Hey folks, it's Rick Wilson. Welcome back to the Enemies List podcast. As always, we bring you a person or two to put on blast. And I'm going to start today. And by the way, this week has had an embarrassment of riches for people who could be on the enemy's list who are absolutely dedicated to destroying this country. But I'm going to leave with two. The first is, of course, Brendan Carr, the current head of the Federal Communications Commission. Brendan Carr, you will not be surprised to find, is the guy who has been pulling the trigger in pressuring abc, Disney and other networks now to get in line politically. He has been pressuring networks like CBS to hire a political minder, an ideological overlord who will make sure the network agrees with Donald Trump's positions.
C
The thing that was really important to me in all of this was that the new owners of CBS came in and said, it's time for a change. We're going to reorient it towards getting rid of bias, to looking at fact based reporting. They said they're going to get rid of invidious forms of DEI discrimination. At the end of the day, that's what made the difference for us in terms of our review at the agency.
B
Brendan Carr is a guy who once upon a time talked a big game about free speech. And now, like many folks in the MAGA movement, free speech is for them, not for us, not for you, not for me. And I want to say this with all due respect to Brendan Carr. Come and take it, motherfucker. And he will try. He will try to silence people, he will try to break people, he will try to get people thrown off the air. And it's not because the things they're doing or saying are so beyond the pale. It's because he can't for a moment imagine a world where he doesn't get to regulate your speech, where he doesn't get to tell comedians what the approved jokes are, where he doesn't get to tell newscasters what tone they can use when describing Donald Trump. He is a man who is the Author of Project 2025 section on how to break the national media. You're surprised? In no way, I'm sure. And because of that role, it's important to pay attention to this guy. Now look, he's flown mostly under the radar screen until now. And like the rest of the Trump administration and the Trump regime, he's trying to use the death of Charlie Kirk as a cudgel to beat down the media. You know what? It's working. Believe me. The decision between Carr and Bob Iger and the management at Disney was a really close race. But the management at Disney has an externality. They're wrong to do what they've done with Jimmy Kimmel and beyond, but you at least have an excuse, a framework of an excuse. And that is they're a business. They can't stand up to the government trying to regulate them. If I were in their shoes, what I would have done is hired a whole bunch of pro MAGA lobbyists and flooded the zone. Trump can be bribed. They should have known that. But Carr is an ideologue. Now he's fully in on the shitposting edgelord garbage that defines maga. This is not a man who is a serious understanding or interest in what the media does. As long as they're doing it in a way that doesn't make Donald Trump upset, that really is where the country is. And Brendan Carr is the handmaiden of Donald Trump's campaign to have the media broken and obedient. This is one of the reasons that I'm so grateful to be out of the traditional frame in a lot of the stuff that I do. This is one of the reasons I'm really happy to be working in an independent space on substack on YouTube. Now, these spaces will come under pressure too from these people. Believe me, they will come under pressure from these people. They will be looking at us next. I think the most important thing anybody in independent media can do right now is to look at people like Brendan Carr and give them a Johnny Cash style middle finger. This is not an area the FCC gets to regulate. They will try because they are trying to do a very, very quick end run around one of the most fundamental things in this country. If you're the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, you should have a respect, a fundamental, deeply wired respect for the First Amendment. Brendan Carr does not. He believes that speech that offends the President or offends the sensibilities of the Project 2025 crew in the break room should not be permitted, should in fact be punished. They're Threatening to arrest people. Come and take it. As I said, this is not how this is going to end. Brendan, there have been some folks in the MAGA movement and some other conservatives who've said maybe this is a bad idea. Maybe we shouldn't do a massive anti First Amendment unconstitutional effort to use the power of the state to crush dissenting voices in the media. Some of these people get it. They understand it. Now, Democrats, I'm going to take a brief digression here. When you take back power, Brendan Carr and Bob Iger and all these people need to be on your early frequent list of special guests for the House Oversight Committee. These companies that are making these deals with Carr and with the administration and are kissing Trump's ass, they're doing it for financial reasons. If you start dragging their CEOs and Brendan Carr through the public eye and showing these corrupt deals they're making and showing the pernicious nature of the censorship regime that they're installing, there is going to be damage to their shareholder value. They feared Trump would cause their shareholder value to go down. That sort of hearing done properly with the correct degree of spectacle is important. You can start dragging them down underwater very quickly. The other thing Carr doesn't understand is that while Sinclair, which is a right wing slop creation or national chain of television stations, and netstar is its baby brother that got too much lead paint growing up, they're the people that said, oh, Jimmy Kimmel can't come back until we get an apology and he writes a check to Turning Point. Those people in your local area, Brendan Carr does regulate them now. They are ideological allies of Donald Trump. They are far right. Both companies, CEOs, both companies, they do run local advertising in your neighborhoods, folks. Find out who your Sinclair station is, find out who advertises on them, you get a vote, too. Markets do work. But Carr is a particularly pernicious figure here, I think in part because he knows what he's doing. He knows that the First Amendment is the only amendment and the only thing in the Constitution that's particularly protected one profession, and that was journalism, that was the free press, he understands what he's doing is both unconstitutional and un American. If for one moment he thinks that this toolbox that he's opened, though, will state, will close once again when he's done with it. Au contraire, my friend. In fact, I suggested sort of flippantly on Twitter today, the next Democratic president should make me the chairman of the fcc and I will use nothing but the tools that Brendan Carr has decided are good for the country. How do you think Fox is going to go if that happens? There are a lot of ways in which Democrats tell themselves we can never use these terrible tools that the enemy has created. But the only thing that people learn from in politics is painful. Payne is the only teacher. And Brendan Carr, as corrupt as he is, as un American as he is, as unpatriotic and unconstitutional as this behavior of his is, has not experienced any pain yet. These companies are dealing with Carr and Carr is is using his power to manipulate the markets so these companies can get what they want or be punished and not get what they want. Make sure that American press has been broken and and obeys Donald Trump. It really is an astounding story. It really is a very bad sign for the republic. But I will say one other thing here. The media loves a story about the media, always has. And Trump is very cognizant of this fact. He's very tuned into this particular aspect of media behavior. They love to cover themselves. And this week, and we're gonna get to part two of this enemy's list in a minute. This week we saw a particular need for Donald Trump to have some noisy things to distract the media because the Epstein file matter this week, because of Cash Patel's ludicrous meltdown in the House and Senate this week where he went completely off the rails. I'm going to talk about that in a minute. They needed something as a distraction. They needed something to distract from the weird trip to England where Trump got played like a cheap fiddle in a pawn shop. They manipulated Trump brilliantly. But the through line while he was over there. They're projecting images of Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump on the walls of Windsor Castle. The news is covering Donald Trump and Epstein. The questions are being asked, like what about Prince Andrew Trump? Pretend I know I don't know Prince Andrew. It's all part of this two track system. If you can't cover up Epstein, you might as well engage in the most fascist oppression of the free press that America has ever known. Even during wartime censorship regimes, there's nothing ever has been as ambitious as what Carr and Trump are doing right now. Brennan Carr is a guy you probably didn't pay a lot of attention to until this week. He's a bit of a gadfly. He's one of these people that has grown up with a fundamental belief deep in his heart that the only thing that really has prevented Republicans from taking or holding power over the generations is that the liberal media is so powerful. Folks, the media is now owned by a large group of Trump aligned, pro Trump, pro maga, pro Republican organizations, qed, everything. Brendan Carr is the handmaiden of that and he's a conspirator in this. And I think when we dig into this, when the Democrats take back the House, Carr's going to have a rough ride. He deserves a rough ride because there's.
D
Almost nothing I can think of more.
B
Loathsome, more horrifying, more worthy of being placed in a very high position on the enemy's list for a very long time than a fundamental assault on the First Amendment in this country. And Brendan Carr has earned a place on the end of this list. We'll be right back.

And now back to the show. It's a doubleheader this week on the Enemies list and our second entry this week is of course, Kash Patel. Kash Patel, who is one of the guys in charge of the Epstein cover up and who is also the single worst FBI director in history. You can include J. Edgar Hoover in that because at least Hoover, for all of his intrusiveness and evil, was at least competent. Patel gave probably one of the most embarrassing flailing, hissy fit, shit show performances in front of both the House and the Senate this week, where he was reduced in the course of trying to cover up the Epstein matter to screaming at members of Congress. It was a sight to behold. I want to play a couple clips here of the complete meltdown Patel had because it is spectacular.
F
Remembering your oath to tell the truth. Did you ever tell Donald Trump his name is in the files?
G
I have never spoken to President Trump about the Epstein files.
F
Did you ever tell the Attorney General that Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files?
G
The Attorney General and I have had numerous discussions about the entirety of the Epstein files and the reviews conducted by our Attorney General.
F
Did you tell the Attorney General that Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files?
G
And we have released where President Trump.
F
Is in the name.
B
It's a simple question.
F
Did you tell the Attorney General that the President's name is in the Epstein files?
G
During many conversations that the Attorney General and I have had on the matter of Epstein, we have reviewed.
B
The question is simple.
F
Who you tell the Attorney General that Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files? Yes or no?
G
Why don't you try spelling it out?
F
Yes or no?
G
Use the Alphabet.
F
Yes or no?
G
No. ABC Director, it sounds like you don't.
F
Want to tell us. Did you tell the Attorney General that Donald Trump's name was in the Epstein files?
G
Why don't you try serving your constituency by focusing on reducing violent crime in this country and and the number of pedophiles that are legally harbored in your sanctuary cities in California? I work with you on that regular order, Mr. Chairman. I belong to a gentleman from California.
F
Did you tell the Attorney General that Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files?
G
Question has been asked and answered.
F
You have not answered it. And we will take your evasiveness as a consciousness of guilt.
G
Stop that.
B
I'm not blaming anybody other than you. You're not keeping your word. You said that you would release all.
G
Of the materials on the more information on Epstein than I have. Has anyone much more comey did Ray.
B
Much, much more. Excuse me. Much more has come out in the days since the American people in Congress have been demanding it. But it's coming out in dribs and drabs. Why don't you just release the entire file as you promised to do?
G
I literally just told you there are multiple federal court orders. I'm not gonna break the law to satisfy your curiosity. You didn't join us when we filed court to release the court orders. You could have. You have lawyers. You could have shown up. You didn't do that.
B
That's a tiny fraction of the material we're talking about. It is.
G
How do you know that? Have you seen everything? All you care about is a child sex predator that was prosecuted by a prior administration. And the Obama Justice Department and the Biden Justice Department did squat. And what did President Trump do? Bring new charges courageously and what have we done? Transparent FBI Director in History Control 33,000 pages of information to you. I challenge you to say anything credibly to the truth. Go ahead and run to the cameras where you want to go now both.
F
Of you be quiet.
B
This is a guy who knows he is part of a cover up. He knows it's illegal. He believes that Donald Trump will protect him and that his future in the Magaverse depends on lying and protecting Trump. I want to explain something to you. There's an interpretation of a lot of folks in the MAGA side of the fence. They're like, well, he's just owning the lips. Everything about this performance made him look more guilty. It made the Epstein matter more obviously corrupt. And very few Republicans were even trying to bail him out. Very few were trying to help him. It was truly embarrassing. Now listen guys, I have a theory of the case. So my daughter about this the other day. Here's the thing that happens when Trump people are in trouble. They either disappear quietly or they try to become more MAGA than maga. That's what Patel was doing this week. This is all performance art garbage. The screaming, the insults, the howling. It's to try to make him into a strong Good on TV performer, but he's a bad on TV performer. He's bad on tv. We'll be right back. And now back to the show. Now it's not just because he looks like a flounder with a stun gun up its ass with those eyes popping out at every moment, but it's because he looks dishonest. He is a guy whose eyes are rolling around the stage the whole time he's there. He's always got these weird tells and you understand why. He knew a lot more about the FC matter than he wanted to confess. He got banged by Republicans and Democrats alike in the House and the Senate. This was not a good week for Kash Patel and it's never a good week for anybody in the Epstein cover up. Okay, now, little inside information. You probably read this this week, but I run it down with a couple of my people. The stories that Bondi is trying to get rid of Patel are true. The stories that Patel is trying to get rid of Von D are true. They are slagging each other with all these MAGA influencers and all these White House players. I'm going to be very curious what Trump's take is on Patel's terrible performance this week. I think he might have been gone already except for Pam Bondi gave this interview and even MAGA folks, even MAGA influencers hated it when even MAGA influencers are pushing back against burning down the first Amendment. And this, this put with Pam Body was a white hot political disaster for her. Let's play that clip. There's free speech and then there's hate speech and there is no place, especially.
E
Now, especially after what happened to Charlie.
B
In our society, do you see more law enforcement going after these groups who are using hate speech and putting cuffs on people?
F
So we show them that some action is better than no action.
B
We will absolutely target you, go after.
E
You if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.
B
See? Awful. Just fucking terrible. There's a thing you should recognize about all of the performative nature of keeping your job in the second Trump administration. What is it all about? It's all about keeping Jeffrey Epstein out of the news. It's all about pretending the Epstein matter is behind us. It's all about pretending that there's not a cover up at the doj. It's all about pretending that Pam Bondi and Kash Patel and Todd Blanche and Danny Bong Bong Bond are not involved in a massive cover up at the doj, but they're all involved in a massive cover up at the doj. Everyone knows it. Everyone understands it. Now, Trump went to England this week to try to get away from it. He really needed a pause. He didn't like the Charlie Kirk story, not because Charlie Kirk was killed, but because it took attention off of him. He did like the Charlie Kirk story insofar as it lets him to sort of attack the media, which he's been a major part of this week. But Patel was so bad. Patel was so bad, even the Republican members on the House and Senate committees were barely able to mount any kind of defense of the guy. Barely. They would ask some anonymous or, excuse me, anodym questions like, aren't you fighting crime? Yes, sir, I'm fighting crime. Patel's behavior was so juvenile, so over the top, so scenery chewing, so lunatic again. If Pam Bondi hadn't screwed the pooch this week, Ahmed, on that terrible First Amendment stuff, I think Patel's number would have been up. This is a guy who's on the edge. The funny part about this with Trump is he's having a hard time deciding to fire them or not. We did an ad this week to welcome Donald Trump home from the uk. Let's play that.
H
Oh, it's an old trick. The president in trouble at home goes abroad to change the subject. Nice try, Donald. It's not working. You can Aunt Ide from the Epstein files. England fired their US Ambassador over his Epstein connections. Was that a hoax, Donald, you love to fire people. Anne Bondi said she'd release the Epstein files. So did Cash Patel. So did Dan Bongino. But where are the Epstein files? Why don't you fire them, Donald? Is it that they know too much? Are you afraid they'll talk? Is that why Jeffrey Epstein's child sex trafficker girlfriend was moved to a Club Fed with yoga classes? Who's trying to keep her quiet, Donald? Ask anybody. Ask the King of England. Everybody wants the Epstein files released except you, Donald. Now, why is that?
B
Trump knows he's on thin ice. Any one of the three of them get fired and talk bad mojo. I think he should be more worried about the thousand FBI agents that he had reviewing the files. But that's just me. But if any one of the three, if Bongo or Pam or Cash says screw it, I'm done. But bad outcome for Donald. Very, very bad. I also want to point out, and I mean this not facetiously, in the slightest, I don't want to ever hear Kash Patel talk about a victim of crime again when he refuses to hear the statements of the victims. Of Jeffrey Epstein's trafficking when he refused to address what Thomas Massie brought forth this week, that there are at least 20 major, well known names, corporate, media, entertainment figures in those documents. The lie that Patel told repeatedly, there was no, he didn't traffic them to anybody. It was just himself. Was an obvious lie. But it's a dangerous lie for him now because there is one vote that separates subpoenaing those files in the House. I don't think he helped at all this week. I think Patel put Trump in danger this week. He is, of course, on the enemy's list for a host of reasons. He is a liar. He is utterly corrupt. He is Trump's errand boy when it comes to purging the FBI of talent. He is, and I mean this, even in this day and age, he's fundamentally a disrespectful little shitbird. I don't care that it's the year 2025 and all the norms are in the rearview mirror. When you are sitting before the United States Senate and when you are sitting before the United States House of Representatives, you are obliged as a member of the government to show deference and respect. Patel thinks he's still on a fucking podcast. He screwed up the investigation of Charlie Kirk's killer. Absolutely screwed the pooch. Said twice that we had somebody in custody. When we didn't, he had fired the Salt Lake City FBI chief a few days or a few weeks before the family turned the guy in. It wasn't the FBI or the cops. The family turned him in. The whole thing was a disaster. Patel is on thin ice. But until he gets off that thin ice and falls through, he's on the enemies list. Thanks for listening to the Enemies List podcast today. We appreciate everybody who tunes into any of the Lincoln Square family of podcasts. The Lincoln Project podcast, the Enemies List, elephant in the room. Episode: Kash's Chaos Meets FCC Control
Date: September 19, 2025
Host: Rick Wilson
Produced by: Black Pearl Studios
In this fiery episode of The Enemies List, Rick Wilson spotlights two new adversaries to American democracy: FCC Chairman Brendan Carr and controversial former FBI Director Kash Patel. Wilson uncovers what he sees as their efforts to suppress the free press and cover up key scandals, particularly the unfolding Epstein files drama. Through scathing critique, revealing audio clips, and trademark acerbic commentary, Rick rallies listeners to vigilance and resistance against creeping censorship and government overreach.
“Brendan Carr is a guy who once upon a time talked a big game about free speech. And now... free speech is for them, not for us, not for you, not for me.” (Rick, 01:46)
“Come and take it, motherfucker. And he will try. He will try to silence people, he will try to break people, he will try to get people thrown off the air… This is not an area the FCC gets to regulate. They will try because they are trying to do a very, very quick end run around one of the most fundamental things in this country.” (Rick, 01:46–05:14)
“If you start dragging their CEOs and Brendan Carr through the public eye... there is going to be damage to their shareholder value.” (Rick, 06:49)
“Almost nothing I can think of more loathsome, more horrifying, more worthy of being placed in a very high position on the enemy's list... than a fundamental assault on the First Amendment...” (Rick, 10:01)
The Set-Up: Wilson shifts focus to Kash Patel, labeling him “one of the guys in charge of the Epstein cover-up” and “the single worst FBI director in history.”
Audio Clip: A tense Congressional exchange reveals Patel evasive about whether Trump was named in the Epstein files:
F: Did you tell the Attorney General that Donald Trump's name is in the Epstein files?
G: And we have released where President Trump.
F: Is in the name.
B: It's a simple question.
F: Did you tell the Attorney General that the President's name is in the Epstein files?
G: ...No.
F: You have not answered it. And we will take your evasiveness as a consciousness of guilt.
G: Stop that.
(Congressional Hearing, 13:30–15:01)
Rick’s Analysis: Wilson skewers Patel’s “flailing, hissy-fit, shit show” meltdown, arguing it further incriminates him and heightens suspicions of a cover-up.
“It’s because he looks dishonest... He knew a lot more about the [Epstein] matter than he wanted to confess.” (Rick, 16:10)
"There's free speech and then there's hate speech and there is no place, especially... now, especially after what happened to Charlie... we will absolutely target you, go after you if you are targeting anyone with hate speech." (Pam Bondi, 18:40–19:03)
Attack Ad Excerpt:
"Oh, it’s an old trick. The president in trouble at home goes abroad to change the subject. Nice try, Donald. It’s not working. You can’t hide from the Epstein files… Why don’t you fire them, Donald? Is it that they know too much? Are you afraid they'll talk?" (Ad, 20:41)
Rick’s Conclusion: Any firing among Bondi, Patel, or Dan Bongino (“Bongo”) could spell disaster for Trump given what they know about the inner workings of the Epstein investigation.
Final Condemnation:
“He is a liar. He is utterly corrupt. He is Trump’s errand boy... he’s fundamentally a disrespectful little shitbird… When you are sitting before the United States Senate… you are obliged… to show deference and respect. Patel thinks he’s still on a fucking podcast.” (Rick, 21:21)
Summary of Patel’s Failings: Patel is blasted for mishandling the Charlie Kirk investigation and for disrespect and incompetence before Congress.
Rick on Carr’s Hypocrisy:
“Come and take it, motherfucker.” (Rick, 01:46)
On Journalistic Protection:
“The First Amendment is the only amendment and the only thing in the Constitution that's particularly protected one profession, and that was journalism, that was the free press.” (Rick, 08:30)
On MAGA Media Paranoia:
“The media is now owned by a large group of Trump aligned, pro Trump, pro maga, pro Republican organizations, qed, everything. Brendan Carr is the handmaiden of that and he's a conspirator in this.” (Rick, 09:27)
On Patel’s Congressional Performance:
“It’s because he looks dishonest. He is a guy whose eyes are rolling around the stage the whole time he's there. He's always got these weird tells and you understand why. He knew a lot more about the FC matter than he wanted to confess." (Rick, 16:10)
Rick’s Summation of Threats:
“Almost nothing I can think of more loathsome… than a fundamental assault on the First Amendment in this country. And Brendan Carr has earned a place on the enemies list.” (Rick, 10:01)

Rick’s delivery is sharp, confrontational, and saturated with snark and expletives. His tone oscillates between dead-serious warnings and sardonic, meme-infused jabs—particularly at targets he deems dangers to American democracy.
This episode is a full-throated alarm bell about creeping authoritarianism and media manipulation under a second Trump regime. Rick Wilson pulls no punches in describing the ongoing threats to free expression, shining a harsh light on the officials he believes are orchestrating this dramatic backslide. If you're concerned about democracy, transparency, and the state of American media, “Kash's Chaos Meets FCC Control” is essential listening—and Rick will make sure you know exactly where he stands.
