Mike and Alyssa are always trying to outdo each other. When Alyssa got a small water bottle, Mike showed up with a 4 liter jug. When Mike started gardening, Alyssa started beekeeping. Oh, come on. They called a truce for their holiday and used Expedia trip planner to collaborate on all the details of their trip. Once there, Mike still did more laps around the pool. Whatever. You were made to outdo your holidays. We were made to help organize the competition. Expedia made to travel. Hey, folks, and welcome back once again to the Enemy's List podcast with me, your host, Rick Wilson. Hey, I want to start out today. We're going to do a Q and A episode here, but I want to start out with an enemy on the enemy's list. This one's pretty easy. Could have seen this one coming a mile away. Probably one of the easiest ones you've. You've ever even thought about. It's a kind of a mini. A mini thing because he's a tiny little mini creature. He's a sort of shell of a man, a mannequin, if you will, which has. Goes back to the words meaning tiny man. But look, as I'm recording this, Mike Johnson has ordered the House of Representatives to go home. He told the Rules Committee chairman to not disseminate a rule which allows every day the House is in session, they have to have a rule for it. And since Mike Johnson is an autocrat, a wee little pocket autocrat, that rule, as of the 21st of July, the year of our Lord 2025, is gone. They're leaving. They're not on the floor anymore. They're not in the House anymore. He has thrown them out of Washington. Why did he do that? He did it because enough Republicans and Democrats have joined together to sign a discharge petition. What is a discharge petition, you ask? Well, a discharge petition bypasses the normal House operations and can do what they wanted to do with this one, which was to send the DOJ a demand that said, you will now turn over to the House of Representatives all the relevant Epstein materials. Mike Johnson was so scared out of his fricking mind, so utterly terrified that Donald Trump would be mad at him, he threw the House out of Washington. He closed the House of Representatives. Closed it, shut it down. Bye. We'll come back after September, where Tan rested and ready. You should know who Mike Johnson is. He is Donald Trump's creature. His. His crispy sock under the bed of the White House. Mike Johnson has gone out of his way to kill off a bipartisan attempt to look into the Epstein matter. To call off a bipartisan attempt from everybody ranging from conservative Republicans, the most conservative Republicans, to liberal Democrats. You don't frequently get a lot of that in Washington. And this is why Johnson's on the enemy's list in particular today. Look, MAGA does not represent their voters. They don't have constituents anymore. You might as well. In fact, if you're a Republican, you might as well stop doing constituent service. Just stop. Doesn't matter. You don't have one constituent. It's Donald Trump. Mike Johnson proved that today by cutting off every possibility of a legitimate congressional examination of the Epstein materials. I will tell you, Mike, I'm going to disappoint you a little bit next year in November when America sweeps you out of office. That night, by the way, that night, just remember, you had a chance to do the right thing. You had a chance to be a standup guy. You had a chance to do the right thing for America, had a chance to do the right things for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein, and right chance to do the right thing for the Republican Party. But none of that ever mattered to you. I want to hear a goddamn thing about, oh, we're saving the children. Because you're not. You're saving Trump. That's why Mike Johnson is on the enemy's list this time. Many other times, he's on the enemy's list just for generic reasons. He's a tiny little weird homunculus. He is. He is so closeted and so hateful of gays that it's astounding he's got a porn app on his phone that monitors his porn consumption. So all these things. Mike Johnson's a hateful little shrub of a man. But today in particular, by participating in the ongoing Trump Epstein pedophile cover up, Mike Johnson has landed himself firmly on the enemies list. All right, folks, we're going to jump into the questions now. So this is the part where I have to occasionally read a question. So you're going to have to just bear with me. First question out of the box. I didn't even prep this. Speaker Mike Johnson announced he will shut down the House early amid the Epstein drama. What happens next? Is there any recourse, any advice for Democrats and never Trump Republicans? Do you have any predictions? It won't stop the Epstein story. In fact, it probably makes it worse. Democrats should stay on this. Stay on it, stay on it, stay on it, stay on it. This is the thing that has made Donald Trump for once break from his base. His base is so unhappy. They are so angry they are so utterly furious. By delaying it, you don't bury it, you just extend it. The dead fish never smells better on the, on the second or third day. Look, what happens next is that Donald Trump is going to try to keep throwing stuff at the wall. He's going to keep trying to. We're going to arrest Barack Obama, the traitor. We're going to arrest him because he's a traitor. Guilty. Russia. Russia. Russia. Which leads me to my next question from Diana in Atlanta. Diana in Atlanta asks, is Trump going to arrest Jim Comey, Brennan, Obama, et cetera, all the people that were involved in the intelligence agency's assessment of Donald Trump in 2016, which the 17 intelligence agencies, the Director of National Intelligence, the FBI, the Justice Department, the CIA, the DIA, the NSA, and every other three letter out there and the US Senate committee that investigated it all made the same conclusion. Russia, in fact, interfered in the 2016 election. Russia, in fact, attempted to interfere in it so that they could elect Donald Trump. And that Russia, while they couldn't change any voting machines, they were changing this voting machine up here for millions of Americans. So that is Trump's latest distraction. That is Trump's latest, latest hoo ha. And I have to say to our MAGA friends, much like they say to their wives before they try to have sex with them, prepare yourselves for disappointment. Barack Obama is not getting arrested. Jim Clapper is not getting arrested. James Comey is not getting arrested. If they do this, it will start a process for the Republican Party. It will be politically devastating for Donald Trump. It will lead to another impeachment. It will lead to a much worse set of outcomes on his way out the door. Eventually, whether it's feet first or otherwise, it will have broken one of those unspoken predicates in Washington, one of those moments that you just don't violate at a certain level. And while Trump is the transgressive guy, while Trump is the dangerous, you know, chaos agent, I have to say this. I hope they try to arrest Barack Obama. I think in a lot of ways, Trump's always an example of the frog is boiling in the pot very, very slowly and doesn't hop out. I believe that would cause the frog to hop out of the proverbial pot. You do that, you will have millions upon millions upon millions upon millions of Americans in the streets. If MAGA thinks they can get away with that one, I have some incredibly dire news for you. If you wanted to permanently alter the media coverage in this country, if you wanted to permanently alter the outcomes that are going to Follow on in the aftermath of Trump. That'd be a way to do it. If you wanted to look at America suddenly being isolated in the world because you're arresting a former president on bullshit pretense and lies and, and, and joke charges. There you go. Knock yourselves out, chief. But they won't. And this is where I think this thing is kind of funny, because the MAGA folks now believe. And let me. Let me bifurcate the MAGAs into two categories here. The scamfluencers, the bullshitters, the influence. They know it's bullshit. Whether it's Jack Posobec or Laura Loomer or whoever, they know it's bullshit. They know Barack Obama didn't do this. They know it's. It's a, It's a. It's a head fake. They know it's Trump being Trump. They know it's just a jackass. Whatever the base, however, all of their anxiety, their nervousness, their fear, their sense that something is badly off with Trump, that something is badly, badly, badly off with MAGA over the Epstein matter. They kind of want this. They kind of feel like they need this moment. The dog often regrets chasing and catching the actual bumper of the car. So they're going to have disappointment one way or the other. They're going to either be disappointed that Barack Obama does not get arrested, which is the most likely scenario, by the way, or they're going to be disappointed that he gets arrested and the country rises up. Nothing in my mind could make me happier than disappointing MAGA each and every day. Nothing in my mind could make me happier than watching them flail like a bunch of freaking morons every day. This is going to cause them to flail a lot. They are now in their heads already picking out a gibbet for all these people who were involved in the Russia investigation. They've got it clear in their minds, they're all traitors. They all committed treason. They all deserve the penalty for treason in America, which is death. So when they don't get arrested and they don't get sentenced to death and they don't get executed, one more time for MAGA to understand that Trump's just playing them, just bullshitting him, playing them like a fiddle, like fools. They are fools in many, many ways. They are. They are objectionable people in many, many ways. But the foolishness of their belief system in Trump has been impervious to reality for a long time. It's less impervious now. And frankly, it's all, hey, summer's winding down. But you know what doesn't belong in your epic end of summer plans? Getting burned by your old wireless bill. And now back to the show question from Mitchell in Tampa, Florida. Well, hello Mitchell in my hometown. Mitchell asks the following question. It's one of those more personal life questions, so I'll answer it because we're on the Q and A day. Read about you having trouble with your airplane recently. What kind of plane is it? Are you okay? Is the plane okay and are you flying more? Plane's fine. It was a relatively minor thing. It was a fuel pressure line leading to the fuel pressure indicator gauge which popped off of the manifold on the engine and caused the engine to start seizing and hitching a bit. Because of the differential in the air pressure, the thing didn't seal off. We did not Declare an emergency. Because we were in a position where we could ask for an immediate return. They understood we had a mechanical issue. Because this is a new plane for me. We. I'm flying with an instructor for the first 15 hours on this plane. And so my instructor and I, he said, you fly, I'll talk. He handled the radio, I handled the flying, ran the checklist, put the plane on the ground. Bada bip, bada boom. Two flights since then. Runs like a typewriter. It's been phenomenal. Took it out last week and took it out today, the 21st, as I'm recording this. And we flew some instrument approaches. And I swore as God as my witness, I would never be back under the goddamn foggles, and yet here I am. If you're a pilot, you know what I'm talking about. We did practice instrument approaches today. It's good. It's good. It's a Beechcraft debonair 1967 model. She is gorgeous. Amazing engine, amazing paint, amazing, amazing condition on the aircraft. Needs new avionics because it looks like something from 1979, but love it to death. And it's great fun and looking forward to using it more. There's a question from somebody named William, and it's like 57 paragraphs. Okay, but William, I'm going to get to you quickly. We're asking your opinion about the Supreme Court becoming fully fascist. This past term saw the court give Trump everything but a free lap dance. They decided to stop nationwide injunctions allowing the Biden presidency. I'm sure that wasn't influenced by politics. I'm going to summarize this, William, you're absolutely on point. The Red Court is the Red Court. They are there now to enable and empower an authoritarian version of government. They're there now to enable and empower the Trump version of the future. Massive expansions of executive power, massive expansions of protection for presidential actions. Mass. The guy in the center of this whole brouhaha, it's John Roberts. Roberts has this public facing image that he's the institutionalist, that he's the guy who wants the system to work properly. Well, so far, he has empowered a lot of the worst outcomes. In the last year and a half, two years on the court, the court has increasingly sided with Trump on executive power, on the definitions of executive action. Roberts is the architect of this court now. Has he occasionally, along with Comey Barrett, voted against Trump? Occasionally. Not enough for it to matter, not enough for it to slow Trump down. And I will say this, right now, the court is seeing increasing numbers of cases where the administration has just flatly said to the Supreme Court or other courts, fuck you, fuck you, try to make us. Unless Roberts begins to step up on this matter in particular, he will have abrogated and abandoned the power of the judiciary. Meaning, folks, the first three article, the articles of the Constitution, talk about the executive, the legislative, judicial branch's powers. Roberts is giving those powers away. Unless he stops, unless he comes to Jesus, unless he figures this out, he could be the last Supreme Court justice. Because why do you need them if you have a monarchy? From Whitney in Colorado, Newsweek reported that Howard Lutnick owned a townhouse next to Epstein's notorious townhouse in New York, his brownstone. What comes out of this? You think Trump will try to find a way to fire Lutnick and distance himself from the issue? Epstein knew a lot, a lot of people, and Trump has now become a guy who is defending not only himself in the Epstein matter, but a lot of his billionaire friends. I don't know that Howard Lutnick was one of them, but he was of the profile of the kind of people that Epstein liked to collect, that Epstein liked to have around him. Trump will often play that reverse psychology game about people around him in trouble. Oh, no, no. He's not just my friend, he's my best friend. We weren't just close. We're extremely close. You guys clear and present danger that shit. As for what, Nick, I don't know much more backstory than what you mentioned. Well, I'll have a look. Recently we asked some people about sharing their New York Times accounts. My name is Dana. I am a subscriber to the New York Times, but my husband isn't. And it would be really nice to be able to share a recipe or an article or compete with him in wordle or connections. Thank you, Dana. We heard you introducing the New York Times family subscription. One subscription, up to four separate logins for anyone in your life. Find out more@nytimes.com family got it. We'll see what it is. We'll be right back. And now back to the show. Sarah from Ohio asks. Hey, Rick, first off, thank you for your podcast and keeping us all so well informed. I wanted to pick your brain about Trump's distraction tactics. We've seen Trump trying everything to distract from Epstein. Is there ever a goalpost or are we in uncharted territory? Sarah, we're in uncharted territory. This is an entirely new space. Yes, you're correct that Trump is trying to distract from Jeffrey Epstein. So he is Throwing Barack Obama, Bigfoot, mlk, everything. I mean, by the end of, by the end of this month, we're probably going to have the Bavarian Illuminati, the Tartarian conspiracy and fluoridation. God knows what else it's going to be. But Trump is insisting on trying this strategy because he has to change the subject. It's not working. That's the secret thing you should bear in mind throughout this whole thing. It's not working. He's having a really hard time changing the subject because his own people don't want to change the subject. They would like, for once from Donald Trump something exotic and unusual and unprecedented. And that's the truth. Donald Trump is not a guy who specifically or explicitly likes the truth. He likes to craft reality around himself. But right now, he can't. Right now, he has been in a box of his own making. And there, there, no matter how many times, no matter how many ways you throw this out there, MAGA is not going to get what they need. He's not going to give them what they want. And we've talked about this a lot, but the, the, the reason the Epstein matter is so deadly for him, the reason it's so potent as a, as a distraction for him, is he understands that his base for 10 long years was fed a big fat lie. He did it. The creators of the Pizzagate myth, Jack Posobic and others, Alex Jones, all, all these conspiracy folks, the Gateway pundit, all these conspiracy weirdos, QAnon folks, Mike Flynn folks, all these people generated a singular narrative that said to Maga, there is a global conspiracy of Democrats engaged in a, in a worldwide ring of child pornography, pedophilia, child cannibalism, drinking the blood of children to absorb the adrenochrome. They, they had this central belief that inside of, of everything they couldn't understand, was a conspiracy led by Democrats to protect a global pedophile ring. He spread this too. He did this also. Epstein was the Rosetta Stone of that pedophile ring. Now that he's covering it up, they have to come to either one of three terrible, terrible conclusions cognitively for them. One, they were stupid and they were conned. Believe me, folks, they. The last thing any human stupid or smart wants to admit when they've been conned is that they've been conned. Or case two, Donald Trump knows what's in the Epstein materials and is himself compromised in some way, which also flies into the face of their cognitive dissonance. Because Donald Trump was the leader of the heroic effort to Save the children or the final explanation is that Donald Trump is protecting his other friends, other people in the ring, other people who had ties to, who exploited the services of these young girls and young women that Epstein trafficked and Ghislaine Maxwell trafficked. None of those three answers are comfortable for them. So Trump is going to try to throw every other thing at the wall. The greatest hits are just winging, winging their way through the, through the world. It's nuts. It's bonkers. No one's ever seen it like this before because he's never been this scared before. No one's ever seen this level before because no one's ever seen him this frightened of everything. And I mean everything. So, Sarah, it's a great question. We're not at the end. We're not even at the end of the beginning. This is going to go on for a long time. And again, the reason it's going to go on is he created and promoted this illusion. He finds himself locked in it. Now, there's an 80s movie, I can't quite put my finger on it right now where people are trapped in a dream. It's not Freddy Krueger, by the way. It's a science fiction ish kind of movie. But people are trapped in this dream. They're trapped in this, this, this conception that they can't get out of. It's where he is. He's trapped in this conception that he created. He's trapped in this lie that he built. He's trapped in this, in this conspiracy that he thought he was the star of, but is now the subject of. Episode: Will Trump Have Obama Arrested? Rick Takes Your Questions
Host: Rick Wilson (via Black Pearl Studios)
Date: July 24, 2025
In this Q&A episode, Rick Wilson tackles urgent questions from listeners regarding the latest maneuvers in U.S. politics, foregrounding the implications of House Speaker Mike Johnson's decision to shut down the House amid the Epstein investigation and Donald Trump’s intensifying distraction tactics. Wilson offers sharp commentary on the interconnectedness of the Trump movement, the state of the Supreme Court, the resilience and vulnerabilities within the GOP, and the cascading conspiracy theories now shaking the MAGA base.
(00:50 - 07:41)
Mike Johnson’s House Shutdown:
Wilson lambasts House Speaker Mike Johnson for unilaterally shutting down the House to prevent a bipartisan discharge petition from advancing an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
No Real Constituents Left for MAGA:
Republicans “don’t have constituents anymore. ... It’s Donald Trump.” (03:48)
Johnson’s Legacy:
Wilson warns Johnson will be remembered for failing to do the right thing for the victims and for America:
(07:42 - 17:20)
Persistence of the Story:
Wilson insists Democrat and Never-Trump Republicans must keep pressure on the Epstein investigation, as attempts to bury it will only inflame interest.
Trump’s Distraction Tactics – Threats of Arresting Obama & Others:
Wilson discusses how Trump is exploiting the situation by threatening arrests (Obama, Comey, Brennan) to shift attention—a ploy he finds unlikely to succeed.
Potential Fallout if Trump Attempts Political Arrests:
Wilson argues that attempting such arrests would be both politically catastrophic and destabilizing, inciting mass protest and international scorn.
(17:21 - 23:00)
Scamfluencers Know It’s a Hoax:
Wilson divides MAGA into influencers (who know arrests are theater) and the base (genuinely fooled/invested).
Inevitable Disappointment:
Both scenarios—Obama not being arrested, or being arrested and prompting a backlash—end in MAGA disappointment.
Dangerous Escalation of Rhetoric:
MAGA’s delusional expectations have reached a fever pitch, entertaining fantasies of treason charges and executions.
(28:45 - 33:20)
(39:00 - 46:10)
Desperation to Change Narrative:
Trump’s attempts to distract his base from Epstein with ever-wilder conspiracies are not having their intended effect.
Cognitive Dissonance in the Base: Wilson outlines the three uncomfortable options now facing Trump’s base:
Trapped by His Own Lies:
Trump is now “trapped in this conspiracy that he thought he was the star of, but is now the subject of.” (45:55)
(33:21 - 36:45)
On Mike Johnson:
“He is so closeted and so hateful of gays that it’s astounding... a hateful little shrub of a man.” (06:20)
On Disappointment for MAGA:
“Much like they say to their wives before they try to have sex with them, prepare yourselves for disappointment.” (13:00)
On the Supreme Court:
“Has he [Roberts] occasionally...voted against Trump? Occasionally. Not enough for it to matter, not enough for it to slow Trump down.” (31:15)
On Trump’s Distraction Playbook:
“He likes to craft reality around himself. But right now, he can’t. Right now, he has been in a box of his own making.” (41:50)
On Epstein Conspiracies:
“Epstein was the Rosetta Stone of that pedophile ring. Now that he’s covering it up, they have to come to either one of three terrible, terrible conclusions cognitively for them.” (43:42)
Wilson paints a picture of a GOP in thrall to Trump, a MAGA base veering into open conspiracy, and a surreal moment in American democracy where even powerful institutions like the Supreme Court are seen as vulnerable. His advice: sustain pressure, refuse distraction, and recognize the dangerous imminence of authoritarian tactics. The Epstein story, far from going away, has become a litmus test for both the loyalty and sanity of American politics.
