We're going to talk about John Wayne and some things that he said that really touched Billy and, you know, so we're gonna talk about that a little bit later on in the show. We're gonna do that. So we talk about that before the show.
A
I like a teaser. We got the Duke. Our Duke. Billy. Billy Gill. We got the Duke Blue Devils, who we'll talk about. We'll also talk about jmu, the Duke. So lot to get to. But let's duke it out here first and foremost. Let's start with our one big reactions from the day.

Get to One big reaction. Obviously the biggest game of the day, usc, Oregon. I'm sure we'll get into that game quite a bit. I got a big question for you guys. Just talking about big picture from that game. But I'll start with you Joel. One big reaction from the opening, you know, kind of slate of games and we got two slates down. We also got Georgia Tech right now in a fight against Pitt. So maybe Narduzzi do knew something with his quote a couple of weeks ago. But I'll start with you Joel. One big reaction.
C
Well, so it's funny man. You know I have worn the LSU shirt here on, on on on tv and so I'm actually making a plea to LSU and the LSU football program. You know, as a big fan as I am, please be Oklahoma. Please be Oklahoma in Norman next week. I know John Matier and Ben Arbuckle were celebrated additions to the Oklahoma Sooner program this year. But bro, I don't want to see that offense against a good defense in the playoffs because I pretty certain I know what's going to happen. Like since Matier's thumb injury, that offense has fallen off of a cliff and and it hadn't even really climbed that high to begin with. So, you know, it's like the last two games they've won and they've been on an incredible run. Like I'm not even really trying to disrespect how good they've been, but I feel like I know what their ceiling is, right. And with that offense, like today, Vers Mizzou, the Sooners had just enough offense to beat a team that had had a quarterback that basically played about in a month. Mattia was 14 of 30. Man, they ran him 18 times for 60 yards. Like that is how they're having to get by in this game. They got out game based more than 2 to 1 in their win against Alabama last week. I just, you know, it's cool that like we're going to get to see more games in the playoffs. There's, you know, the theater around it and we can watch games on campuses. But please, lsu and right now you're struggling. You know, they, they have a lot of difficulty against Western Kentucky.
B
I'm about to say we got to get past Western Kentucky.
C
They have a rough time right now. They supposed, they supposed to be sec, but I, if maybe, you know, they're holding it in for next week or something. You know, I don't want to open up the playbook but please, because I don't want to see Oklahoma waste our time come playoff time. I really don't like they deserve to be there, but. But I feel like I know what's going to happen.
B
Okay, so Oklahoma's going to beat lsu, so that's okay. All right. LSU needs to grit this game out. There's a lot of distractions around the program right now. You wonder if the kids have their heads where they're supposed to be. This is my one be reaction is this was actually a putrid day of college football. And that's okay. You know, we talk about that. There's never a bad Saturday of college football. And look, we love the sport so much that we have fun. I was in there. I had a chicken and sausage gumbo. I was in there, I was eating it. I was watching the games. I was having a good time and all of that. But like I don't, I didn't really enjoy watching SC vs Oregon. That was the marquee game of the day.
C
You called Oregon boring.
B
I find Oregon to be a boring team. They are a very talented team, a well coached team, but I don't have very much fun watching Oregon. However, there was a fantastic performance. I said that. And then Sadiq came along and just put his swinging his Shillelagh all over the game. He was doing his thing, right? That's what we call a dad. Dad performance. A dad D.
C
Okay.
A
That's what Joe called it for sure.
C
No, no, man. Come on, man. I just said you had a nice haircut. I don't. Just. Everybody take note of who said daddy for how long over these times. Okay, guys.
B
The difference between me and you, Joe, is I fully admit they're big daddies, they're small daddies, and like you said, they're regular daddies. Big daddy. All right?
C
I just said. I don't believe I called Tyson Ty Simpson a big daddy.
B
I just said, it's time to get over it, bro.
C
Okay. Anyway.
B
Okay. It's time to get over it.
C
I. I don't think I called him a big daddy. I said, you asked me if he was a dad. I was like, yeah, he's a big daddy, But I didn't say his name was Ty. Big daddy.
B
Ye.
C
You did.
B
And Tennessee's up 28. Nothing on Florida. This. This pit score is interesting. Not a lot of great games, and I think that has a lot to do with some of the teams that we thought would be cresting at this particular point in the year. Not. We always talk about this. We talk about how great it is that there are upsets in college football, particularly early in the season. But remember, if you have too many of these teams and have their seasons go completely off the rails, then these marquee matchups that we were looking at. We've talked about this before, towards the end of the year, make some of these Saturdays a dud. Like Florida disarray, LSU disarray. So many different teams that we thought were going to be there and have something to say at this time just completely fell apart. So you kind of get one of these.
C
Yeah.
A
And you get a cupcake week in the sec. This is the last time we're going to get that cupcake week, because now they're going to have nine conference games. Van, are you gonna miss this kind of week? Because, you know, we get Mercer on the schedule, we get Charlotte on the schedule. A lot of these teams obviously excited to play. Yeah, Sanford, right? I mean, there was a nice moment with the Sanford guys taking photos with Marcel Reed. You know what I mean? A little bit different than what you'd expect late in November, but, you know, are we gonna miss cupcake week? I guess, is a simple question, man.
B
You guys call it a cupcake week for yourself. We're in a dog fight right now, right?
C
Yes.
B
So so you guys are trying to call it a cupcake week? Yeah, I going to miss the cupcake week. The only reason why I'm going to miss the cupcake week is because I really enjoy watching the talented players that don't get a lot of burn show up and show out. These weeks are when you saw guys like Rondell Mey or Darius G or some of these other guys get in the game to spell some of your stars and just go crazy, just go nuts. But other than that, at this point in the year, I don't think anyone is going to have any second thoughts about getting competitive football every Saturday.
C
Yeah, man. No, I think this is, I, I so. I think you're right. This is the worst week of football we've had this year. But it was about time, you know, like we just needed.
A
We were due.
C
Yeah, we're tight. We gotta, you know, take a breath. Next week we have three days of, you know, three days of football. You know, Friday. What is that game? Is this, is it just Friday and Saturday? I guess just Friday and say we got two full days of football next week.
A
Got a lot of rivalry games.
C
Rivalry games. Games that are gonna. Yeah. Set Settle up. The, the, the conference championship stuff. You know, positioning. So like, we needed this. And I mean, I mean, it's not that these games are not going to affect the playoffs. I mean, BYU is only up 70 on Cincinnati in the second quarter. And I mean, Georgia Tech, man, you know, like, I mean, they've, it's not impossible for them to come back. Like a 14 point deficit is not much, but I mean, they were down by four touchdowns. They've been, they've been trying to climb back this whole game. So if they were to lose, I mean, I guess. What is that setup? SMU versus Virginia in the ACC championship? Is that what it would be?
A
Yeah, that's what we'd be trending towards.
C
Yeah.
B
I don't know what's going on with me tonight. I cannot get that DMX out of my head, man.
C
Which song is it again?
B
It's the X gonna give it to you, man. I can't.
C
Oh, that's what it is.
B
Pop, pop, open up the door Real like everybody. Okay, I won't say it again for the rest of the show. If everybody says it. I gotta get one from Tate. I gotta get one from Joel. A pop, pop open up the door is real and then the whole chat. Gotta say it in caps.
C
Oh, man, I forgot about our, Our.
B
Slogan is gonna be ring or tailgate. Should it be Pop Pop, open up the doors.
C
Real.
B
Or should it be ring or tailgate? You know, we some G's.
C
We know. Oh, we, you know, we some G's.
A
Oh, that's, you know, we some GS.
B
Damn. So we don't need to say it then?
C
Not even close. It's not even close.
A
Why do we owe you for telling the story?
B
Yeah, they was not happy as a family.
C
I was wondering about that, man. Well, you said they were still married.
B
Yeah, married, doing good. Like, until they're having a good time. But they was not.
A
We all have a history.
C
Wait, what was the. What was the specific. Just like, bringing up old. What, like, what was the specific objection?
B
Like, why are you talking about that on a college football. Like, what they got to do with college football? And I was like, you guys have obviously not heard the show.
C
Well, I said they gotta listen, you know.
B
So can I ask you guys a question about one specific game, one specific score?
C
Please, Pop. Pop. Open.
B
Tennessee up 28 nothing on Florida.
C
Yeah, man.
B
So Tennessee has not won at Florida in a long time. Yeah, this is a 28 nothing win at Florida. You guys, the question is not about whether or not Florida is in hell. Obviously they are. Can Florida get out of hell? I'm saying, is Florida in a Nebraska situation? I mean, you can ask that about lsu, too. I'm not saying that it's. It's unique to Florida, but I'm saying, man, of all the other teams that the wheels fell off the wagon this year, Florida has had a tough, tough season. And it's not just that the team isn't playing well. The program seems weirdly irrelevant. It just. It's 28 nothing Tennessee over Florida, and nobody's going to care that they're getting booted like that.
C
Well, I mean, first of all, I mean, you know, we had been talking about for a while, man, them boys play hard for Billy Dapia. I guess they got tired. They got tired, you know, I mean, what did my. My mother used to say? Even iron wears out. So, I mean, eventually, bro, you know, they. They've been putting in a full effort and it's like the reality is our coach isn't here anymore. Nothing went according to plan. We may not even. A lot of us ain't even gonna be here, you know, in a couple of months, like, this is it for us. They'll probably end up being. Being sent in the portal or having to transfer some other place because they want to go some other place. So it's like, it's kind of sad And I've. I've been on a losing football team, a team that was 1 in 10. Come talk to the end of the year and around the Thanksgiving, it's just like, bro, I just kind of want to go home, man. You know what I'm saying? You just kind of want. You just kind of want to be with your family. It's just like, well, this sucks. Like, we're gonna get a new coach.
B
So you were. You were ready to quit. They had you. Yeah, yeah.
C
I mean, it's. It's a thing. It's a thing in the locker room, man. Like, eventually you're just like, man, it's gonna be a new coach. We're not, you know, what are we playing for? Although I will say in the final game of that year, and I hope I get my memory correct on this, there was the one win of the year against smu. You know what I'm saying? Wow.
A
Little rivalry game.
C
Fuck that season up.
B
So would you say that, like, for you, when you was trying to quit when you weren't giving your best effort on for the team and you wanted to quit and go home?
C
Yeah.
B
I just say that you were given, like. Did you see Zion last night with the closeout?
A
Oh, yeah, that was weak. What was he doing? Oh, Zion.
C
He don't want to be there, man.
B
Yeah, you don't want to be there. That was you. You were the Zion of you.
A
I don't want to be there.
C
Was. You know what? There's only been two times. It was. Been a couple times in my life I felt this way my senior year of high school. It was the number one ranked private school in the state versus number three ranked private school in the state. So straight Jesuit versus Dallas Bishop Lynch. It was going to be a big showdown. They came from Dallas, play us in Houston, blah, blah, blah, bruh. By halftime, it was 35 to nothing. Okay. Their best player ended up playing tight end in Miami in the early 2000s. You know what I'm saying? Shout out Robert Williams. And I just remember being in the locker room at halftime being like, man, I wish we could go home, bro.
A
You know, black boys got that face on right now.
C
I don't want.
B
I don't know. Definitely has that face.
C
Yeah. And you know when you're gonna lose.
B
Yeah. And that's. And. And that's kind of the thing. You know, there is at a lot of these places, the. There's a lot of construction to be done this spring and summer, a lot. And all of these coaches that are taking These jobs. And, you know, you better roll up your sleeves and get ready to go drink Witz. It's going to be Franklin. If it's going to be Kiffin, whoever it's going to be, I think Kiffin's going to stay. But whoever's going to be, you better get ready to do a lot of work, not just to your roster, but also to the psyche of the fan bases.
A
Let's talk about Kiffin.
C
Yeah.
A
For this.
C
Oh, yeah. Let's do it.
B
Come on.
A
There were signs in the Swamp that say we won't Kiffen. Obviously, there was an announcement from the AD at Ole Miss that said there will be a quote unquote, formal announcement on Lane Kiffin's future expected after Ole Miss plays Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl. So November 29th is the date that is circled. So seven days from now, we're going to get an announcement from Lane Kiffin. Florida says they won't Lane, obviously lsu. There's a lot of implication that LSU is going to be that team. Where are we in the Lane sweepstakes? Are we exhausted? Are we excited? You know, because it does feel like there's a little bit of fatigue happening right now for everyone just to be like, just make a decision. You know what I mean? Like, we. We need an answer at some point, especially Ole Miss fans.
C
I mean, yeah, I would love a decision, but I mean, it's just kind of. It's not fair because people gonna be like, man, if he makes a decision now, would they gonna. Basically, it's a. Essentially an effort to push him out or just be like, all right, he's going to move on. Like, he's accepted another job with a new team. So he's not. He's not going to coach his playoff team. Right. But if he waits and drags it out and is torn and wants to commit to his team, and he's like, I'm not sure, and I still probably might want to stay at Ole Miss. Then it's like he'll get accused of being a drama queen and making things difficult. And I. I look, I. Far be it for me to defend Lane Kiffin. And I mean, how did I end up becoming the coach. Defender. But. But my thought is, is that, like, it's just gonna be tough no matter when it happens. And there's just no way. There's no way for this not to be hard. Am I tired of it? Nah. I mean, if I was, I mean, nobody should be talking about Florida anymore. I'm sure I'll be proven Wrong on this, but it doesn't seem like they're in the sweepstakes for this. Like, this is a la.
A
The fans think so. They got the. We won't Kiff inside, man.
B
I mean, look, look.
C
Good luck to y', all, bro. Man, that. That's the hell. Like, they think that they have a shot here. That's. That's sad. It makes me feel sad for you, Florida.
B
Yeah, this is my thing. I'm ready for it to be over. I do not think that Lane Kiffin is coming to lsu. I do not. I don't really think that he's going to Florida. I think Lane Kiffin is going to stay in Oxford. And let me tell you something. The only thing I can compare the Lane Kiffin coaching saga to is the other super annoying pop culture saga that went on for the last year, year and a half, and that is Blake Lively and Justin Baldone. Oh, if you guys don't know what happened, nobody does, right?
A
Nobody knows what happened.
B
Two people made a movie. Tate is right. The movie made a whole bunch of money. Everybody was successful. And then these two people could not agree on who the most toxic was. And rather than have a conversation about who the most fucked up person was, they had to have that conversation with all of us, and they had to put the text messages out, and they had to sue each other, and they had to get inside interviews and information, and they had to go back and forth. She's the bad guy, he's the bad guy. She's the bad guy, he's the bad guy. We went from sort of, kind of, oh, what's going on? To really interested to we don't give a anymore. Stop it. And that's where I already am with the Lane Kiffin situation. I don't care anymore. You don't stop. I don't. I tell you why, man. Lane Kiffin is acting like such a brat with the job at Ole Miss. I'm not so sure I want him as the coach at lsu. I don't know if I want to deal with this. I have a high stress life. You guys don't understand. A lot of things stress me out. I look around, I'm like, stress, right? My Achilles sore right now. I have special shoes. I went to this store to buy special shoes for my Achilles, and I was the only person under 75 in the entire store. So, like, there's a lot of things right now that I got to deal with. You know who I would hate to be right now? And an old Miss Fan with a One loss team going into the playoff as dangerous as anyone. Having your coach twerk for every team in the sec. To me, personally, personally, this is turning me off about Lane Kiffin. I'm to the point to where it's like a Blake Lively Baldoni situation. Go with God. Just shut up about it. It's really getting on my nerves, and.
A
It feels like he's Blake Lively in this situation. You know what I mean? Like, that's. That's kind of the vibe for Lane. Like, he wants the attention, he wants the conversation. Even the fact that there's a formal announce of an announcement feels like it's too much. You know what I mean? He needs to sit down with the hats at this point and do a full press conference. Like he's a high school recruit.
C
I just don't know. Like, I. I just think it's just. It's really difficult because what. There's nothing that really is going to make it better. Right? Like, he's in a. He's in a position right now. It's like he wants to be with his team, but people are pressing him to make a decision that obviously is very difficult for him. I don't know.
B
Can make it better. Know it can make it better. You could do three things. This is what you could do. Actually. You might be. Let's see how many. I'm not. I can't. I haven't pre. Counted this.
C
All right.
B
One, you can take the job at lsu. I'm leaving. Taking the job.
C
Oh, you team your one loss playoff team.
B
Listen, listen. Just. Just listen. This is what. This is the. This is the thing.
C
Okay, Go ahead.
B
Okay. One, you can take the job at lsu. Two, you could take the job at Florida. Three, you could say I'm staying at Ole Miss. Or you could go.
A
4.
B
All speculation over. This is shut down. My commitment and focus right now is to my football team. My wife ain't going to Baton Rouge. My son ain't wearing the LSU stuff. We ain't doing none of this type of stuff. None of this. We are where we are right now. And right now, I am committed to this football team. I'm not answering any questions about this. I'm not talking about this. We're not going to hang out with the booster club. We not doing nothing about this. Hey, Jimmy Sexton, maybe don't tell Nick Saban to go on game day and double talk the college football public about this issue. We are here now, committed to the kids here now, the state here now. And what happens in February is what Happens in February. What happens in late January is what happens in late January. Easy. Or you could choose not to do any of those things because you like drama. Because you've always liked drama. You like drama when you were in Alabama. You like drama when you're at Tennessee. You like drama when you're in Oakland. You, usc, are a drama queen. That's what you are. And I don't like it.
C
You go. You go. You're gonna be sad if he decides to stay at Ole Miss or go to Florida, which is probably not going to happen, because then what? Then what? What now? Okay, now you got. Now your boy. You force him a decision. He's like, well, I had to kind of rush a little bit. I kind of. I was thinking about lsu, man, but I don't want to make anybody mad. I'm just gonna stay here, get my 13 million a year. They already promised my 25 million for the nil. And then you're gonna be like, well, man, I guess we better go call John Summerall up. You know, who are you gonna get, man?
B
It. Hey, who are you going.
C
Who.
B
Who are you gonna get, man?
C
Who you gonna gonna get?
B
Who you gonna get, man? You said that you. You're such a bully, bro. You're such a bully. Do you understand?
C
If it hadn't been you, I would have thought that was racist.
B
This is also the perspective of a fan base. And I, I. Joel, I. I don't want to do this because I know you and the dude gonna have some issues later when.
C
Billy, come on, man.
B
So.
C
So, okay.
B
This is also the perspective of a fan base that. Not to diss. Not to diss. This is. All due respect. Nah, all due respect.
C
It's not just.
B
Nobody gives a.
C
Don't say that. Don't say that.
B
So you. So you get.
A
All due respect doesn't mean respect. You know, you get to kind of.
B
Have these opinions and throw this stuff out without anything that happens. Where would your school be consequential in any way, shape, or form? This, to me, is LSU being part of the gigantic swirling narrative of Lane Kiffin and then the boys going out and being down to Western Kentucky. That bothers me, man.
A
They're caught up in it. You know what I mean? There's a lot of drama, and it's a lot of Easter eggs. I think you make a great point. You got his kid wearing the LSU headphones. His daughter's there at lsu. There's the motivational quotes. There's the quote tweeting on Twitter where he's like, come to the sip in the middle of the. The on three. And all these different sites reporting that he's getting this, you know, godfather offer from lsu. So a lot of strange stuff happening, but again, it's all about being the center of attention. Lane enjoys being the center of attention.
C
And nobody, nobody would think about this a month from now. A month from now, nobody will remember this. It'll just be, God, I was kind of annoying or whatever. But it's just. It's not. This is not Brett Farvesque. I would say it's just. It's a little out of the normal. Because people fire coaches so much earlier in the year when. Which I think is kind of the problem for. I think that is a bigger problem is that athletic departments, ADs, administrations give up on season so much earlier now. So did the coaching search last forever? It's like, what. What was the point of running Brian Kelly so early? Like, what, What?
A
Or James Franklin.
C
Yeah, what. What better has happened at those programs? Because they ran those dudes off and they're not even. And they're still looking for the same guy. Florida ran off Billy Napier. And it's still like, well, in hopes of getting Lane Kiffin, but they just. Right where they are. Except that team is now breaking down and giving up because they realize that nobody is really fighting for them anymore. They, like, everybody's already turned the page and looking towards the next season. So I think that's the big problem, like, firing these guys so early in the year. Let them play. I mean, they don't think it about the kids that are there. And it's just like, I can see the instability. Like, there's a guy. The guy that brought me here is gone. And there's a fake boss right now. Like a very temporary boss, a substitute teacher. We got a substitute teacher here. He's going to be gone. And so it's just like, I just. I don't, you know, I don't. I don't. That's.
B
Let me ask you a question. I see what you're saying, but. And this is the question that always pops in my mind. Would you. Would you rather get divorced too early or too late?
C
Divorced too early or if the divorce is coming?
B
The divorce is coming, man. You're going to get divorced. The. The relationship is going to end.
C
Yeah.
B
Would you rather get divorced too early or too late, man?
C
That's tough, bro. Probably too late.
B
It's tough because I just put you in what's called a 4. A figure 4 leg lock of logic. You Know the answer is early is better than late.
C
No, it's not like, open up the doors real.
B
You know? The answer is no.
C
I think I'm like. I kind of like. I'm like. Cuz. I'm kind of like.
B
I.
C
You know, I'm not gonna say it, man.
B
Say it. What? What?
C
Oh, yeah. What you about kind of freak. My wife.
B
I just.
C
I. I'm. I'm g. Take it till I can't take it no more. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. To the grave. Yeah. Cuz. Right. The last. The last time is gonna be the last time. I'll never have it again the rest of my life. So I'll probably just drink. I'll let it last as long as I can, and then I'll be like.
B
All right, y' all remember. Y' all remember the Departed?
A
Yeah.
B
He looks over, he goes, if we're not gonna work, you're gonna have to do it. I'm Irish. I'll stay in this forever. My mom. I'm gonna sit down there watching with my mom. And my mom said, dumb. I could tell she was triggered. I could tell that she was triggered because, you know, her. Dumb. He gets killed at the end. And I'm feeling like she was really mad because he said that and not because he had all of these different people he up so many different people. She was mad that he was willing to immiserate that woman for such a long time.
C
Yeah.
B
Dumb. That's how she said it, too.
C
Well, I mean, if you're hurting somebody, I think that's different. But if it's a situation to where, you know, we both. I'm. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do, and I do care about you, but things are, you know, seem to be winding down. I probably would just try to hang in there as long as I can until, you know, there's no more. There's no more embers burning. Speaking of this over.
A
Yeah. Speaking of this divorce, let's do a. Let's do a question here. One big question, because we have a situation. We talked about one offensive guru, obviously, with Lane Kiffin. But let's talk about Lincoln Riley, who was.
C
Did you say that? Because I've been divorced before. Is that why you brought that up?
B
Me?
C
Yeah.
B
I totally forgot about that.
C
Okay. Okay. That's so funny. You're.
B
You're so sensitive because, you know, the Duke is on his way.
C
Oh, man. Billy, like. Billy, like, in your head, Joel. I was the only person. I was the only person that Supported the Duke today. To be honest.
B
When me.
C
We all did. Oh.
B
Just let y' all know. We went and watched Billy the Duke. Gill. We too. Earlier. Too late.
A
That's a good question.
C
Oh, man.
B
Like crazy. We. We listen to Billy call games.
C
This isn't funny.
B
We listen to Billy call games for fiu. When we was watching all the games, Joel Sneaky dropped the chat drop Billy's link to Billy Call.
C
You don't even have to respect the call of the broadcast. You called it a chat. And so, like, it was a Twitter space or something. You know what I'm saying?
A
It's a live radio broadcast.
B
It's a live radio broadcast.
C
It's a live radio broadcast.
B
The Duke was in rare form. I can't wait till he comes on.
A
I'm fired up. We're speaking. We're speaking of divorce. So let's ask this question. Lincoln Riley with usc.
C
Yeah.
A
How many embers have to burn out here before we start asking that question? Was this a good decision for both parties? Because it does feel like Lincoln Riley has not been able to win the big one yet at usc. This was a big opportunity. They're kind of, you know, knocking on the door of maybe being into the playoff, backdooring their way in. They go up to Oregon. They get up balls. They get up 70 in this game. You know, you feel good, a little bit of butterflies in your stomach. And then Oregon just continues to dominate this game. They end up winning this game, obviously, by a couple of touchdowns. But are we worried about Lincoln Riley? Are we worried about the USC relationship? Like, how long is it too early or too late for divorce for these two parties? Joel, I'll go to you first.
C
I would not fire Lincoln Riley because there's no. I mean, again, what if this market isn't exceptionable? Like, they've only. There's a few top candidates that everybody kind of agrees on, and then they're just like, well, we just gonna be hiring people. We're just going to take chances that this person is going to be better than Lincoln Riley. Lincoln Riley has shown that he's a good coach. He's still a good coach. He lost a game that he was expected to lose today. Like, that is not a game they were expected to win. But people cannot pretend as if USC has not made some improvement this past year. Right. Like, they look a lot better than they did last year. They got a defense now that was something that Lincoln never could put together when he was in Oklahoma. They got a decent defense, and he's Got the top rated recruiting class coming in, bro. You know, like, so that's the other piece of it. It's like, well, man, obviously, like things are picking up. They're getting some momentum over there. So I would. I, you know, I'm. I'm always kind of like this. People say you can't win the big game, but when you win the big game, people just kind of move on and like, they don't ever talk about it anymore. And then sometimes. And sometimes you. And sometimes. And sometimes. And sometimes you win a big game, people pretend like you never win it again.
B
Like they never count.
C
Do you know the whole LeBron saga in the world is about. He's not. He's. That he's not clutch or whatever, even though he's won four championships now because he's lost six. But it was like. It's a whole thing about. Well, man, he's just not as a clutch. Is Jordan or whatever. Kobe or whatever. Even though he's much better late game shooter than Kobe. And I don't like the way y' all are looking at me.
A
You got a Kobe, got a Jordan guy looking at you.
B
You gotta land the plane.
C
Oh, yeah. Okay.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
Bobby Bowden, whoever, Joe Paterno.
B
You know how many coaches, bro, that like got over the hump in various different sports? And as soon as they get over the hump, it's like, my God, they got over the hump. It's a gigantic deal. A Tate college basketball, when John Calipari finally got over the hump and one is like, oh, my God, he finally broke through and won. It finally happened.
A
Roy Williams, J. Wright, Jay Wright.
B
When these guys finally broke, you know how many Kirby in different sports, Kirby Smart. They finally, it became a huge, huge deal. The thing about this with Lincoln Riley is there's. I think there's. I tend to believe what you're saying.
C
Over.
B
Okay, let's talk about SC specifically before we go to the greater point that you're making. This is probably a season that if you're sc, you don't want to panic too. Too much. Right. You don't want to panic at all. Right. You're breaking in new players at all kinds of key positions.
C
Yes.
B
The team looks like they have more of an identity than they had when it was just Caleb, go out, pull, please, please save us. Right. And so it looks like the identity that Lincoln Riley is trying to create at SC is taking shape. Yeah. Does that mean that they are going to be able to go out and be dominant in The Big Ten, who knows? Yet they have shown absolutely no signs of being a dominant Big Ten team. They have not. Right. Which is what the fan base, a proud fan base with expectations, thought that was going to happen when they got one of the greatest offensive minds in the history of sport. And it hasn't really.
A
100 million dollar man.
B
100 million dollar man yet. And not only that, but they're not even ringing the scoreboard up like talking about they haven't had no Baker Mayfield. They haven't had no Kyler Murray.
C
Wait, they had Caleb Williams.
B
They had Caleb Williams. They definitely had Caleb Williams.
C
Jaden May I is a good quarterback, man.
B
Even he is. But even the time that Caleb Williams is there. Is there. What I mean is that was backyard, scatterbrained all over the place football that wasn't. We got an offense that's going to go out and score 65. Maybe we give up 45 every single day. Just the Lincoln Riley thing, the magic that existed in Oklahoma, let me say it more simply this way, has not existed in SC yet. It hasn't. It hasn't. And people are waiting.
C
Oklahoma is a better program than usc.
B
Fair enough. People are waiting for that as much as they're waiting for wins. Now do I think that today's like a defeat in Austin where you get BOA constricted. You were in the game, things were going fine and you get boiled constricted. It's Oregon, it's Austin, they're very good. They boil constricted. You do I think that that should make people take their SC stuff off and throw it on the ground? No, but you are waiting. You are waiting for this coach that has had success. You're waiting for that thing to show up there. Maybe it's next year, maybe it's the year after, but you're waiting. You're waiting for it.
C
How many, how many years do you think Lincoln Riley has been a head coach? Like how many seasons total?
B
Probably what he gets a job in, like 17, 16. 17?
C
Yeah. So like eight? Yeah, dog. He hasn't won a championship yet. Hasn't won a big game. He's only been at USC for like three. This is his fourth year. I mean, he's just at the start of his career. That's. I'm just like people. He's 42 years old. There's plenty of time. He's shown that he can win.
B
Do you watch college football? What are you talking about?
C
No, man. No.
B
You don't open up the doors real like.
C
No, I was not watching College football today. I was watching.
B
This is Lincoln Riley. We know, bro. We know what Lincoln Riley does. They are right to have expectations. They paid him $110 million.
C
Okay? I mean, dog, again, they showed that they were better this year. They slipped last year. They showed that they were better this year and next year they're going to have a. They're going to bring back a lot of folk and they're going to have the number one recruited class in the country. What coach are you going to get that's better than that?
A
I don't think it's making a move off Lincoln Riley, I think saying that.
C
I was giving him cover. Who is that? Reuben T. 81, bro. I wasn't giving Lincoln cover, bro. I'm just spitting facts and people are having a tough time dealing with it.
A
I think the worst part for me is like, I, I got USC neighbors, you know, and just going into this game, I'm like, how do you feel about Oregon? They're like, we got no shot, you know, like they didn't even believe that they were going to win this game. Which I feel like that is a. That's a problem that way.
B
Hey, I tell you, you know who didn't feel that? Taylor Mays ain't feel that way. Reggie Bush ain't feel that way. Mar Sanchez ain't feel that way. I'll tell you something, I'll tell you something. Mar Sanchez don't feel.
A
It's.
C
No.
A
I still think they're drinking the Kool Aid, you know, for Lincoln Riley right now. And I think that's the magic, you know, drinking the Kool Aid, you know.
C
Oh, man, that's the essence. He could have gone anyway because this was also the week of Jim Jones too, you know.
E
I'm just saying.
A
It is a Jim Jones. Jones, Rev. You know what I mean? But it's, it's an idiom.
B
Take the Duke, Fraser, take. That's the essence.
A
I'm never. Dude.
B
Yo, how much sugar you like in your Kool Aid, bro?
A
Good.
B
When you, when you drinking your shoe, when you're drinking your Kool Aid, how much sugar you like in it?
C
Well, you know what, man, I'm talking.
A
About the USC fans. They're not buying it. They're not buying it.
C
No. You know, I used to like it to where when I was a kid. I liked the crunchy almost. I like.
B
It was nuts. It was so stupid. My, like, my, like my daddy came. Rest in peace, dad. Man, I got so many great stories. I love my father so much. My dad Came in, took a drink of the Kool Aid. He looked at the cup, he went, take this and pour it down the sink. It was like, y' all little crazy. He's like, don't you know your grandmama. Your grandmama got sugar?
A
He's like, gritting your teeth.
C
Yeah, man.
B
Like, take this, pour it down the sink and make it again.
C
Yeah, that's USC fans right now.
A
That's what I'm saying.
C
Yeah. My kid will never have like just regular sweet juice just because of that era of my life happening. You know what I mean? They don't, they don't. Kids barely. They people, the juice comes a lot less sugary anyway. Just now, like, you know, you. It's really hard to get the kind of sweet ass juice that we used to have when we were growing them.
A
You get mondo.
C
Yeah, they got the kids drinking a lot of juices, like 100 juice or, you know.
B
But I guess my thing with ending on sc.
C
Yeah.
B
Is, you know, it's very difficult to litigate expectation when pride is involved. And that is something that is just true.
A
And that's college football as a whole.
B
On my other screen right now, I have a boxing match on. I have all the screens going because there's a car going.
C
Yeah.
B
You see fighters all the time and they are prideful. They have pride. Their expectation of themselves does not match sometimes the pride, the work that they've put in.
C
Yeah.
B
And that's a conversation that is almost difficult to have with anyone that's achieved these fan bases that you're talking about. You're talking about the USC Trojans, you're talking about the LSU Tigers, the Florida Gators. They. It's not like they're. They're conjuring anything. They've seen it. They've seen it work. They've seen themselves at the mountaintop. They orient their entire lives. They're all their falls around this. And they have expectations. Those expectations aren't going to. Going to go away because when those expectations do go away, you become complacent with mediocrity. And then you never get back to the mountaintop again.
C
Like any of you, it's a. Remember, we've been to the mountaintop more recently to lsu. Just for the record.
B
Just when did y' all get to.
C
The mountaintop championship game more recently than lsu.
B
When did you get to the mountaintop?
A
I think you saw them.
C
You saw the mountains.
B
This is your problem.
C
But I think we saw the mountain. That's right.
B
And then you fell back down the motherfucking mountain is what happened. When did you get, you know, Never got to the. You haven't? No.
C
And also actually got to the Mountaintop in 2010 when they went undefeated and won the Rose Bowl. Okay. Finish number two in the country. So if you think about it that.
B
Way, finish number two in the country. See, this is what people are talking about. They don't want to be you. That's the mountaintop for you. They don't want to be that SC don't want to be the almost. The Almost Horn Frogs.
C
I mean, again, we've been. TCU has been more successful program than USC in recent years. It's been a long time. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's. They have to go back a long way. I mean, Reggie bush is almost 50 years old, man. You know what I'm saying? Or he's in his mid-40s, bro. Like, I just. Like, that's a long time ago. That era of USC football you're talking about, this generation of fans is.
B
I don't think Reggie Bush is in his mid-40s, by the way. I don't think so.
C
Okay, you might. You're probably right about that.
B
What is he, like, how old, Ray?
C
I'm look at 39. Maybe he's 40. Okay. Anyway, so it's been a long time. Point is LSU again, like, it's been. I mean, there's kids that have graduated, gone, you know, spent a couple cycles in middle school and high school, and I seen LSU playing no national championship games. So don't act like y'.
B
All.
C
Don't act like y' all are Georgia.
B
Black people that got.
C
Don't act like y' all that ain't.
B
Seen TCU win a national championship. Now they. They was doing sit ins in Sutton. All right? Don't play with me. Like Jamar Chase is in the league right now.
C
Okay?
B
Jefferson Joe Burrow in the league right now, right?

C
And what's happening and what's happening tonight? You talking. You. You talking about Duke in this? Y' all losing to Western Kentucky.
B
That's too crazy.
C
God don't like us.
B
Hey, hey, can we get the Duke, please?
A
Billy, are you here?
C
Duke.
B
Thank you. Duking this. That's what the. Now, Joe.
C
Oh, my bad. It's LSU 7, Western Kentucky 3. Y', all. Y' all coming back, bro. Y' all. Loan it.
A
Come back.
C
Y' all on the way. Yeah. Hey, what's up, dude?
A
I think Van muted himself because he got so excited about it.
C
He got excited to hit his mic.
B
Yeah, my bad. I don't even have to say no more because the Duke is here. Welcome, Duke, to the chat.
C
I don't.
E
I don't like this Duke thing anymore.
A
Yeah, it's going sideways. Yeah.
C
Hey, Billy, tell everybody how I was the only person that listened to your broadcast today. Man.
E
You were not in. Not in a supportive way at all. You were just playing me the entire time. My phone kept vibrating. I'm trying to pay attention to the game, and it's you talking. They.
C
They had Billy in the analyst spot. Like he was.
B
He was the color man.
C
Yeah, he was.
B
Billy was the color guy.
C
Really was.
B
Billy. Billy. I'll tell you something about the. The. We can get back to college football, but I'll tell you something about Billy's.
C
Oh, yeah, get. Let's get. Just get back to college football A little bit. Because we're gonna talk about FIU right now.
A
Hey, they're bull eligible.
E
Yeah, we're bowling.
A
Six and five.
C
Okay. Good stuff, man.
E
There's still another game.
B
Congrats.
E
Could be an eight win season. You never know. Listen, man.
C
All right, man. Willie Simmons, Shout out, man. That's a brother from the hbcu. He came from Florida A and M. So I'm, I'm, I'm hyped for him. So congratulations.
E
Pick a side here. Yeah, he went to Duke, came over here. But like, you can't be supportive of Willie Simmons and not supportive of me.
C
Oh, sure I can.
A
You.
C
I don't see any problem with making a distinction.
E
Be happy, Joe. Why can't you be happy? This is a larger question, I guess.
C
Well, I feel attacked a lot of the time, to be honest, man.
A
You know last week that he got jumped. He felt like he got.
C
I did, I felt like I got last week. Yeah.
E
Can I chat. Be nice to Joe, but can I ask you a question? Do you think that maybe like some of it is you like, you just think that it's happening? Because like before when you, when you signed on, we were just talking to each other and like, oh man, I was, I was talking shit to Van. And then you felt like I was attacking you and we weren't even.
B
You took the, you took the insult on. You put it onto yourself.
C
I was confused because we had talked about me having a hundred dollar haircut before. And so you said, is that. He said, that's a hundred dollar haircut. Wow. And I'm just thinking you were talking about me because the last person we talked about having a $100 haircut was me. And so I, I came on, I was like, oh man, Billy's popping already, man. I better be ready. But no, it was. You were talking about Van and had a hundred dollar haircut. I didn't know that. So.
B
So.
A
But you immediately got upset. You immediately came out. You were just throwing Bough pit up.
B
35, 14 on Georgia Tech. Tennessee with the ball. With the ball. Tennessee destroying Florida 31 nothing. Wisconsin 17 to 16. Seven up on Illinois. Illinois season, even though it's been up and down, we haven't really talked about like where Illinois football is right now. Like they're. I mean, I'm just saying they're a decent team that was built.
C
You talking about me about Maryland football? You brought up Illinois football, man.
B
Illinois is so much more relevant than Maryland is.
C
That is false, AB.
B
It is definitely true. Maryland had it tied at 1.77 against Cincinnati. I guess we're getting our fair share of the Big 12 right now with Arizona State and Colorado locked in a 10, 7 game right now as well.
A
And we had Utah come back in one of the most shocking.
C
Yeah.
A
You know, performances as far as, like, completely lost. It felt like in that game. What, they were down 10, Joel, like, four minutes ago.
C
Yeah, they were down 10. I thought. I thought they were pretty much done. And they had played themselves out of the chance of playing in the conference championship. And then, yeah, they came back, scored 14 points real quick. And I mean, K State, man, what a rough year. So, you know what? Actually, let me start over again. Let me pretend like I'm a SEC partisan. Well, man, sometimes, you know, a Big 12 team will come into your house and like Kansas State, that's a proud program. They've been great for a long time. They've got a lot of talented quarterback, a double threat.
A
No cupcakes.
C
Yeah, no cupcakes there. So, yeah, that was a real tough game. And so, you know, people. People look at that and they say, man, Kansas State, they're only five and five or whatever, but actually, that is a real strong five. And if you look at the schedule, they really have been in a lot of tight games and almost pulled it out, had some injuries. So you look. You just can't take anybody for granted in the Big 12. And we saw that again today.
A
This is why the chat's upset, Joel.
B
This is why. Look, that whole little rant, like, just going. You just going crazy. For what reason, bro?
C
We're right. No, I was. I was trying to. I mean, that was. That's a tough. That's a. That's a tough win. That's a good conference. A strong Big 12 Conference win by Utah today.
E
Why can't you be happy?
B
I know. See what I'm saying? Talking about the SEC and you going off again.
C
No way, man. I'm happy. I'm fine right now. I'm great.
B
I'm doing great. Guys. One of the most interesting scores in a game at all right now is Penn State is putting it on Nebraska 37 10. Nebraska is not having a great season, but they're not having a disastrous season. They're 7 and 3 with, you know, Penn State 37 10. We know that there's a lot of talent on the Penn State roster, but they seem to be able to pick themselves up off the. The Madden still play for something, even though there's. Their season has been pretty bad.
A
Their defense looks great. You Know, and they kind of have been consistently good, but they look really good the past couple of weeks. So you got to get Penn State some credit. Also, Matt Rule, if you're angling for the Penn State job, not a good week.
C
I mean, man.
A
Well, look, I mean, worst case scenario, they're really.
C
They had a rough week, man. So first of all, I mean, a rough month. I mean, DY hurt that the season fell apart basically after that. You know, earlier this week, Dayton, Raola, Dylan's little brother, decommitted. Yeah, decommitted from Nebraska, man. And I mean, yes, sometimes the line is that thin with a team like Nebraska. I mean, look, they. They built a lot of that offense around him. Like, they. I mean, that's. This season was made for him. So if. When they lost him, it was obviously going to be tough to finish it out.
A
But.
C
Yeah, I mean, like, how do you assess Matt Rule now? Right.
B
You know, I mean, to be honest with you, if. If. If I was a fan looking at the decommitment of the kid, I would think that that meant the coach was out and that Raiola and his brother were transferring. Raiola was transferring. His brother was going to commit wherever they went. That's what I would think.
A
I would think, like the Mendoza brothers within.
B
Yeah, like the Mendoza brothers. Like, in a situation like that, he was. That they were done with it.
A
That.
B
That they knew that it was over for them at Nebraska. They were going to follow Coach Rule wherever he went, and they were going to go with him. So that's the whole entire thing there. I do want to say one more thing. So if you guys are wondering why we're calling Billy the Duke.
C
Yeah, I was gonna say.
B
Yeah.
C
Why did you bring him?
B
Yeah, so he calls.
C
He.
B
That's his nickname when he calls the games. And when we asked him why he calls himself the Duke, he said because he was really inspired by John Wayne, whose nickname was also.
E
That's what I said.
B
He said that. There was one. One quote by John John, one article.
E
That really stuck with me.
C
Yeah.
A
The 70s.
B
John Wayne said, I like the white supremacy and so the blacks are educated to the point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority in positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people. And Billy was like, when I heard that, that's the voice I want to speak in, the Duke. That's what he does, man.
A
And that's a real quote, right?
E
Not a real quote by me.
C
John Wayne set that playboy a fire, boy. He. I mean, he was on fire.
A
Man, what do you think the interviewer did when he started going on that rant? They were just like, man, this is gold. Or they were like, I, should I stop him? You know, like, I, I just, I'm fascinated by that.
E
At the time, they could have been like, man, it's making a lot of sense.
C
Yeah.
B
I was like, I mean, the world.
C
Wasn'T too far off what John Wayne had to say about it, man. To be honest, Richard Nixon probably been like, well, you know, he has the point.
A
You know, that was the time when he was filming, like, True Grit too. Like, that was like pretty peak times.
B
For John Wayne, you know, I mean, it's John Wayne. I mean, he had some peak times before him, but yeah, it was just funny listening to them call Billy Billy. Why do they call you the Duke? For real?
E
Seriously, though, why do they call me the Duke? As you know, it's one of those things. I, I. A couple years ago, the Guardian did like, rankings of, like, NFL analysts, and the guy that wrote the article was a fan of the show that I was on, so he put me on the list of the top NFL analysts. So then as a result of that, then they started calling me the Duke after the football, just because it's the NFL football.
B
Oh, that's nice.
E
No, because of John Wayne.
A
Yeah.
B
R.D. r.D. Constant said, Billy. Billy, they're calling you. This could be a new nickname for you here on Tailgate. They're saying, Billy the David Duke.
E
All right, had about enough of this.
C
Okay. Are we gonna have you come back later? Thank you.
A
Yeah, he's gonna. Billy, you gotta come back for Raise the Roof story time.
E
Yeah, I need to know how. I need to know how Joel invented Raise the roof. And the word that he invented for women is that.
C
Now. Later.
B
Do it now.
A
Do it now.
B
Joe, we ain't got no games. What you want to talk about? Arizona State? Colorado? It's not.
A
I mean, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh.
C
Listen, man. Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, man. Yeah, Georgia Tech's giving up the ghost. Okay, so this picture, that's the fall of 1994. I'm 16 years old. I'm going to high school at Straight Jesuit College Prep is an all boy Catholic school in Houston on the west side. And I'm assuming it was a Friday because it was a pep rally and we were allowed to wear jeans. So that was kind of like our casual day. They would allow you to wear jeans on Friday at school. So anyway, you know, they call all the football players out onto the court, you know, and like the band is playing Because I feel like there was a lot of people in our gym that day for some reason. I don't. You know, it was unusually hype pep rally, and I can't. I wonder who we were playing, man, I remember we were playing. Anyway, so I go out onto the floor behind a couple of my friends, and as they're going out to the floor, one of my friends started, kind of had his hand up, and I saw that, and I couldn't figure out, like, what he was going to do. So then I kind of completed it, and I was kind of like, I'm like, you know, doing my arm like this. And my boy is like, yo, what is that? What is that? He's like, I like that. And so he did it. And so, you know, all of a sudden, a couple of people in the crowd kind of shot it back at us, right? Okay, so that happens at the pep rally, right? And so it's just like. It was kind of. It was more like this at the time. This was like how it started, you know, and, you know, just kind of. So anyway, we see each other out at a party back out in the city or something. You know, me and my boys, we'd be out, you know, go to the House of Pies on Westheimer, or we might. They might see us at the Senior Lamar Girls Dance or Drumsticks off South Main Street. That was a teen club in Houston that we would get it in at. And if I saw yo. And if I saw you or we saw each other at the party, it'd be like, yo, what's up? You know what I'm saying? Like, what's up? You know what I'm saying? So I see you across the parking lot. I see you across the club. And so anyway, you guys may not know, the way it got popularized is that the Houston comments, though, like, they were popping then in the.
A
Late.
C
In the late 90s. And so, like, Kim Parada, Cynthia Cooper, I can't remember who it was, but they started doing the raised roof. And they said that they invented it, but I promise you, bro, they. We took that shit over in Houston, like, that shit. Because, like, that was like, oh, yo, some boys from the J, you know what I'm saying? So they see if you come out and, you know, you be doing that. And so other people kind of did this and made it corny. And Luke did a song about it, raised the roof or whatever in like, 97. But I'm telling you, dog, I invented that. I was there for that in 1994. I promise you. I promise you that I was there for that. It was started at a pep rally in fall of 1994. A straight Jesuit college prep in here. Yeah. In Houston. Y'. All. Y', all seems.
A
I'm waiting on Van. I'm waiting on Van to give his. His take on this. So the Uncle Luke song came out in 97. So I mean, this is definitely pre Uncle Luke, you know, Pre Uncle Luke.
C
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like it was 94 and then it caught steam around Houston.
A
I thought it was always thought.
C
And then. And then the Comets started doing it at the games. And you know, they were the WNBA champions. They won the championship in the WNBA the first four years. So it really got popular like Cynthia Cooper. And so they must have seen us or somebody had seen the raising the roof growing and building around Houston.
E
So was Uncle Luke at like the all boy high school or was he.
B
I don't know.
A
Club.
C
He probably was watching a comics game.
A
Yeah.
E
Hanging out. And he's.
C
He probably was watching a comet game, Billy. Okay.
B
So this is.
A
The timeline checks out.
B
The timeline checks out.
C
Yeah.
B
Okay, so this is. So I'll tell you how I feel about this story. Okay, so like my Auntie Gail said that she wrote Darling Nikki, right. That she met Prince and then she wrote Darling Nikki. And I used to look at her and say, you a liar. You straight up lying. And my mother would say to me, your Auntie Gail actually knew Prince. She thinks she wrote Darling Nikki. And my mother would talk to me about the power of belief. Because, see, belief is something that is really precious, Joe. It will reshape reorient and redefine your world. So if you believe something enough.
C
This is condescending.
B
Is actually true to you both energetically and intellectually. Did my Auntie Gail write Darling Nikki? No, she did not. Did you invent raise the roof? Absolutely not.
C
I did.
D
I did.
B
Set of circumstances.
C
No, man.
B
That make it plausible for you to believe in it. And I'm not the type of person that's going to take your belief from you.
C
No, but now, man, that's. That's just. That is condescending and disrespectful. But that's fine. I understand. I understand that it's very difficult for people. But things start, man in the world, like you don't know that. You think because Lucas was famous in 1997, that he was the first person that he like caught some sort of wave or whatever and encouraged other people. You believe in a top down structure to Society. Whereas I believe in more grassroots theory. Yeah, grassroots. Like it's ground up. Like the inspiration comes from the bottom, right?
A
It's like when you throw a football, the power comes from the ground.
C
Yes, man, that's right. You know, and so that's where I believe it came from, bro. I'm telling you. I mean, it doesn't even make. I just. Just think of all the things that had to happen in the timing and like the place where it got famous. It just really. I'm telling you, man, like, so.
B
So nobody was doing that shit before.
C
Before us. Nobody was doing raising the roof before us, dog.
E
So it makes more sense that a random 16 year old at a pep rally invented it than a famous artist at the time.
C
Yeah.
A
Three years earlier is.
B
It says that. It says that raising the roof was the signature celebration of Houston Comet star Cynthia Cooper Dyke. Why did you.
C
I see what you're doing, Doug. What?
B
Go ahead.
C
Just keep going. Keep reading.
B
That's her name?
C
Yeah. Okay. You put a little extra hot sauce on it, but that's fine. You put some hot sauce on it, man. You did.
B
No, I did not.
C
You don't say that word like that. You don't say that word like that. Just keep going, man.
B
Looking at it right now.
C
Okay.
B
Seeing this celebration of Houston Commissar Cynthia Cooper Dyke. That's her name. Shut up, Joe. See, this is what you can't take responsible. Look how uncomfortable you're making. Billion.
C
I'm not making.
B
No, I'm gonna be honest with you. I was expecting. I think if I'm being real, I don't think that you. Whether or not you invented razor roof or whether or not you did not invent razor roof is the thing. I don't think that's the thing. I think the thing is that we were expecting a better story.
C
Oh.
B
And. And I. I think that's probably the thing we were expecting. Let. Okay, let me give what made it.
C
Was it just not enough drama or something? Because, you know, actually.
B
Okay, okay.
C
This is a spot of vulnerability for me.
B
Can I freestyle a story for you right now?
C
Yeah, go ahead and do it.
B
I'll freestyle a story right now of how I invented raise the roof in 1994. You tell me if this is a better story than the story that you told.
E
Can we then vote after who we believe?
A
Yeah, we'll do this.
B
You can vote for the better story.
C
Well, I mean. O. Okay, go ahead. Fine.
B
Okay. So this is. This is how I invented razor roof. So I was on my bike, right? I was on my bike. And I was riding to basketball practice, and I was late. And there's an intersection, Gardier and Burbank, to where the bike lane actually ends. And when you get to the other side, there is actually no shoulder. You have to ride your bike alongside this skinny, skinny little piece of street. And all the time, when you would ride your bike over Burbank and you would get there, you would have to look around to make sure no cars were coming, because if they were, you'd have to get off the road. So one time, I'm on my way to basketball practice. I'm going to the break gym up there at the church on the corner of Highland and Gardier. And I'm thinking so much about actually getting to practice. Then I'm not thinking about the fact that there might be cars coming. And I got my Walkman on, so I'm going hard. I'm. I'm, I'm.
C
I'm.
B
I'm. I'm pedaling, pedaling, pedaling, pedaling, pedaling. And all of a sudden, I look up, and the car is coming directly for me, straight for me. I turn, and then the car turns. The car turns, and it hits a tree. Oh, when the car hits the tree, the guy driving the car, like, falls out of the car. He's on the side of the road, and one of the tires on the car is, like, on top of him, and he's wedged. And so I get there to him. I look at him, I'm like, what can I do to help you? What do you need me to do to help you? How can I help you? And he goes.
C
Nah, bro. Got that.
A
See?
C
Okay.
B
Telling me, yeah, to pick up the thing. And so I grab it with all of my Mike Joel, and I raise that up, right? I drive to basketball practice. I never see this guy again, right?
C
Yeah. Okay.
B
Couple of days later, a couple of weeks later, when he is actually fully healed, I see him on tv. You know who he is? He's Uncle Luke's producer, DJ Max Nasty. And when I see him on tv, he says, yo, man, I was about to die. But there was this kid, man, this little chubby kid. He was on his bike, he was zooming by, and he just.
C
Raise the.
B
Roof, Put it up there. Raise the roof, Put it up there.
C
Raise the roof. That's it.
B
That this is story.
C
No, the reason this story is the reason.
B
Your story.
A
I was there, okay? Intrigue.
C
Okay, first of all, that's a story. Is that great? To be honest.
B
But also, that's a story.
C
The other thing is because your story is a lie.
E
Okay, well, there's no way to know.
C
You get to take liberty. My story was actually the truth. My story was actually the truth. And so yeah, of course, like you, a lie sounds a lot more interesting, right? What do they say? A lie makes it around the world before the truth wakes up in the morning. So. Right. So yeah, so this is what I'm telling you.
B
What I'm telling you is, yeah, the story that you got, I'm sure it's truthful, but you won't want to put a little bit of this on there.
C
Yeah, but see, but I'm not interested in that. I'm just interested in the truth.
B
I once went on the Big Picture podcast and said that I saw doing two in theater 12 times. Didn't happen. I saw it in theaters probably like 4 times.
A
12 sounds better.
B
Sounds better on the story. Whose story is better?
C
I mean, whose story is better? I mean, again, again, you would not. You would not. The thing is, you would not held or beholden to the truth. So you were able to fabricate and make shit up. And of course it was an entertaining story in that sense, but like it didn't have any real truth to it. But anyway, I'll tell the other one and this is not okay, I'm not gonna take this. I'm gonna make this real quick. I'm just sitting out there with my boy.
A
This is the word. This is the word that you made up?
C
Yeah, me and my boys, we sitting out here in most city, just me and my boy, Glenn, Emerson, La George, you know what I'm saying? So we just all just kicking it probably like 17 years old, you know what I'm saying? Just now getting that little bit of confidence to myself. Getting a little facial hair, you know, after 17 years. Yeah, yeah, man. Yeah, I was, I was a late bloomer, man, you know what I'm saying? I was handsome. But I had not put it all together, all the confidence I had not.
A
Put it together, the confidence to then create raising the roof too, you know.
C
But then. Yeah, and so I kind of. But you know, I had the. I, you know, I was good at. Billy, you a hater dog. He. Billy is in the best.
E
I'm just sitting here, I'm just.
C
He's in the chat saying too many details. This is fake.
B
Anyway.
C
Anyway, so we're sitting there and we're talking about. I'm trying to remember what, you know, we've been out somewhere and seen some girls, bro, you know What I'm saying? But it was like. It was different, though. Like, this was not like when we would go to the drumsticks and just holler whoever. It was. Like, we had somehow, like, tapped into a class of classy chicks that we had just never really been exposed to. Like, there was some girls that had money, that lived on Third Ward. They had a whole different life, right? You know, we didn't know nothing about that, but we had started hanging out with him. So anyway, we're sitting there talking about that crew of girls, and my boy Glenn is like, man, those girls, bro, they were just so. Yeah, they, like, so breezy, dog. And I was like, yo, that's breezy, man. Breezy. And so we started calling girls Breezy's and Houston covergirl. And that really. That really controlled the city for really, like, a couple about three, four years, man. People were really out there calling girls breezes, man. Did y' all hear that? Did that get to where y' all were?
A
I know, like, se.
C
Breezy.
B
Hold on for a second.
C
Did y' all get to where y'. All.
B
Nobody say you. Your lame ass.
C
Breezes, man.
A
Joe was raising the roof.
C
Breathes you today.
B
Have you ever heard that you're trying to put the. You're trying to do this.
A
You're.
B
You're. You're trying to do this, bruh.
C
That.
B
That commerce. That was some. Are you some Nickelodeon goosebumps ass? I can't do this without television. Hey, dude, that you are right now. What the is that. What is that story, bro?
A
You just started that. You're on your bike. That would have been a good start.
C
Yeah, man, I'm sorry. Well, I mean, again, I don't think it is. I'm just telling the truth, you know, this is a journalist to me. Like, I feel like I need to have some sort of. You know what I'm saying? I'm not on some I want to flow through you type, like, and I'm a real journalist.
B
Do you know I'm a G story. Totally true. Totally true story. Like, legitimately totally true. Was that a good story?
C
What story?
B
Do you know? I'm a G story. Totally true.
C
Yeah, it's true.
B
You got to get these. You got to get your story. Game up, Joel. Damn, Devil.
C
I mean, this is a real.
A
This is a devil's footprint. That was a good story.
B
This is a totally true story.
C
This is a real source of vulnerability for me because I do wonder. I worry about that. I'm like, man, I feel like the crowd's not with Me, I'm very sensitive, so I can tell when the crowd is with me or not, you know?
B
And I know that the chat is with you.
A
The chat is with you. Yeah. I just got a text that the chat is behind. Joel.
B
The chat is with you. The chat is with you. You've won them over. Yeah.
C
Okay. Well, thanks.
A
Also, I found a New York Times article from 1997, and it said that no. Basically, no one knows who invented raising the roof. And they give a lot of different examples. Green Bay Packers, Houston Comets. So. Joel.
C
Yeah. I mean, the thing is, they don't. People. By the time it got to the Houston comments, they had not realized the gra. The grassroots movement behind it, because they weren't there that day.
E
Did the article. Who invented Breezy's?
A
Let me look that up.
C
Have y' all ever heard anybody say Breezy before?
B
I have, actually. I'm not gonna. You?
A
Yeah.
C
People say. It's a nice way to say it, man. That girl's so breezy, man. Breezy's at tonight, dog, you know? Yeah. I mean, it was 90s, man. We thought we were cool.
B
Before we move on to sports. Duke, the Essence. Y' all got any. Y' all got any. Y' all got any stories of things that you guys made up?
E
Billy, I haven't invented anything.
A
I don't. You. You invented the chainsaw sound on the.
C
We Got up to 535 people follow us now, man. We really got it. We've got to kind of got it popping, man. You know, it moved up. My stories ain't so bad now, huh?
A
I like the stories. That's a good story.
E
It's 900 before.
A
Yeah.
C
Oh, was it really.
E
It's funny now.
C
Damn. Okay, let's get back.
B
I wanna. There's something. One of this talk about if we can move it back to college football for a second.
C
Yeah, please, let's do that.
B
Arch Manning, Texas. Okay, let's. Let's. And I hope. And this is what I hope, the national media tends to get on a feeding frenzy with things. Feeding frenzy. Okay. You gotta feed. But what I don't like is when they don't eat the new meal from the old feeding frenzy and there's a new meal. The new meal is that Arch Manning has figured out college football. It's just true. There's nothing you can say. I put that on Twitter today, and people were like, hey, it's Arkansas. It's one of the worst defenses in college football. You're right. You are absolutely right. It. In most years with Most quarterbacks shredding up an Arkansas defense that hasn't been able to stop anyone would not be that big of a deal. Except for the fact that we saw this same quarterback struggle against FCS teams, right? We saw this same quarterback struggle basically throwing on air sometimes, not making certain throws against San Jose State. Like, we saw this same quarterback go through the doldrums of not understanding the offense, understanding the rhythm, understanding his eyes, trusting his eyes, playing to the speed of the players around him, the inability to get any kind of rhythm and move the ball down the field. That did not happen today and it hasn't happened for a couple of weeks, if we're being honest.
A
I think it's a. I think it's a great point, you know, and if you look at it, Arch Manning, first player in program history with the passing, rushing and receiving touchdown. And I'll ask you guys who threw him that receiving touchdown? Our guy, Parker Livingston.
C
Really? Yeah. All right, man. He's. I mean, he's the jack of all trades, man. He's a jack of all trades. He can do a little bit of everything.
A
One for one, four yards for a touchdown to Arch Manning. So, yeah, nice note on Arch. You know, everyone's been harsh on Arch, so it's good to see him.
C
And I feel like I've been very fair about Arch all year and I felt like at the beginning of the year I was like, hey, man, let's just see where he's at at the end of the year. And, yeah, like, I mean, let's just for a second, like, just try to, you know, at this point in the year, if you got to draft any quarterback out of the sec, who would you take first? Any quarterback out of the sec, who would you want first?
A
Marcel Reed.
C
Damn. You'd want Marcel over Arch?
B
Probably. Yeah, probably.
A
Well, they play next week.
C
They'll play next week. Yeah.
B
I have to think about it, though. It's going to be. So if you're talking about the draft, then obviously we're not looking at Pavia as the greatest drafts. Yeah, because he had the Heisman pose.
A
Again today, by the way.
B
It's not happening, Diego, bro.
C
Yeah, you gotta give it up, dog.
B
Yeah, give it up.
C
DJ Manziel ain't what you you no more, bro.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not happening, man. Go. Like, I wish him luck on the next level. Might get a chance. He's got a huge future, like, as a regular cultural star, I think later on. I don't know how much of a future he has. In the NFL, I don't want to count him out because guys go in there and they figure out the game, so we'll see if he can. But so then the guys who I guess would be notable there would be Gunner Stockton, Marcel Reed, Joy Aguilar, Arch Manning. Huh. I mean, you're, I mean, you're looking around. Maybe you can make an argument that with how things have been going, Manning is the class of those guys. I still would take. I still would take Marcel Reed. I still think that Marcel Reed would be the guy that I would go with. You would go with Arch Manning, Joel?
C
Yeah, I would go with Arch Manning. I feel like. So now I feel like, yeah, I think I probably would. He's still, he's, you know, I think he's a little bit better of a passing threat than Marcel Reed is. But, you know, I could be, and I acknowledge that I could be operating under an old paradigm that I'm still like, every time that Marcel Reed is an effective passer, that I'm, it's. I'm coming from a destination, a deficit, because last year he was just not that good at it. And maybe I'm not acknowledging his improvement, but on the whole, I still think Arch is a better thrower. He's taller, bigger, thicker, you know, pause.
A
It is true, though. Like, it's a different conversation. Like, for a college quarterback, obviously Marcel Reed is the right answer. But if we're looking at the NFL, I mean, John Matiers in that conversation, for sure, we'll see. You know what I mean, what that looks like. Obviously you got Sellers, lag, Matier.
B
You'd have to take Matier over Arch right now, wouldn't you? You have to.
C
I mean, he hasn't played well and I know that it's that he's recovering from that, that hand injury, right? Like, he's just. But he, he hasn't like, quite looked the same. But you know, the funny thing about all these guys, with the exception of Marcel, is that they just don't have the running game to support. It's just their waste. They're so involved in the running games in ways that I would not have expected this year that they depend, they, Texas and Oklahoma depend on Arch and Mattia to generate a running game for them. And I just would have assumed that they had. I mean, Oklahoma brought in Jaden Knott from Cal, like, and he's given them nothing this year. Texas was getting back CJ Baxter and Contrivion Wisner, who's, you know, a thousand yard rusher. It just hasn't worked out this year. So I tend to think that, like. And just with the. The benefit of hindsight, I'm just wondering if, like, offensive line stuff, just gelling stuff, you know, maybe not as great on the edges as they thought they would be, and they've just kind of had to figure it out and play their way through it. And Arch is healthy and is learned, and he's kind of coming to his own. And Mattier is still kind of struggling with his hand injury, but, yeah, man, it's. I mean, it's. It's. I think it's close, but this is kind of crazy because I remember where we were in September when, man, he's the biggest bust in college football history and all that kind of. So, like, obviously, it's just, like, none of that made sense at the time, and it makes even less sense in retrospect.
A
Yeah. Monster Energy. Everybody knows White Monster, Zero Ultra, that's the og it kicked off this whole Zero Sugar energy drink thing, but Ultra is a whole lineup now. Now you've got Strawberry Dreams, Blue Hawaiian Sunrise, and Vice Guava, and they all bring the Monster Energy punch.
C
So if you've been living in the.
A
White can branch out. Ultra's got a flavor for every vibe, and every single one is Zero Sugar.
C
Tap the banner to learn more.
B
Chambers fit in this. Is he not a guy that you would look at?
A
Chambliss is in there for sure. Exactly. Yeah. There's more guys.
B
There's definitely more guys.
A
Oh, hold on.
B
Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Oh, really tripping. We're really tripping.
A
Devin or Deuce Night?
B
Like, we're really tripping. We're tripping for real. What about Ty Simpson?
C
Yeah, I just said top Big Daddy Simpson. Okay. Yeah, we kind of try to get. Let's.
B
Let's do a definitive ranking now that we're not talking out of our asses, then. So these are the guys that I would take Arch Manning. I take Ty Simpson in front of Arch Manning. I take Marcel Reed in front of Bars Manning. I take John Mateer in front of Arch Manning. I take Marcel Reed in front of Arch Manning as well. I would definitely take all of those guys in front of Arch.
C
Right, well, you said Marcel Reed twice.
B
Did I say that? Excuse me? I meant to say Chambers. Yeah, I'd probably take Chambers over Arch Manning as well. Right now. Right now?
C
Yeah.
B
No. What about you, Joe?
C
I. I would. I would take Ty Simpson, and then I would take Arch, and then I would take Marcel, and then I'd probably Take Trinidad and Man, you know, I mean, you know, the thing is like we. Taylor Green doesn't get a lot of props right. He's so talented.
A
He is talented.
B
He is very talented. But Joel, the game's gotta matter, man.
C
I know. Well, I just, I feel like he just doesn't have what he needs in terms of a defense. I feel like that offense is fine. Like, I think they're pretty good at offense and they're good because of him and Petrino or whatever, but I just don't, you know, I just feel like he didn't get what he needed. I'm just, I don't, you know, I'm. I'm probably not being fair to Matir. It's just. It's been long time since he's been healthy and their offenses look so bad that I'm just like, yeah, I'm just. He's not, not special size, you know, he's okay, he's a good athlete. All that stuff, I just. He's okay. Like, I'm just not in love with him.
A
Let's do some quick hitters on the way out. We got a, we got a bunch of stuff I have here that I just wanted to hit before we get out of here, just football related. First off, Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight, first career start. Five star freshman, 15 to 20, 401 total yards. A 75 yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage. Six total touchdowns. So is he better than Arch Manning?
C
Hey, man, they setting it up for next week, man, Auburn put. Albert has a totally new. Alabama has a whole new prep to worry about now. So they're going to have to play against a guy who's a dual threat that they hadn't seen a lot of tape on yet.
A
Mercer's kind of good too. Like, they kind of made Mercer look bad.
C
Yeah, man, I just, you know, I'm not saying that Auburn is going to beat Bama, but I feel like that's the kind of game that we're going to look up and it's going to be tight in the fourth quarter and people are going to be like, damn, why Bama can't get that. They, they can't figure this Deuce Night guy out yet.
A
Yeah, but if Alabama wins, they're in. So that's all I got to do is handle business. Jeremiah Love, 21.4 yards per carry against Syracuse today, also three touchdowns.
C
That's crazy, man. It's bad motion.
B
I think that's your. I think that's. To me, he should be Your Heisman Trophy front runner.
C
Damn.
A
Okay.
B
To me.
C
Okay. So over Julian saying over.
B
Yeah. I think Mendoza should be. He should be your Heisman Trophy front runner.
C
That Miami game really didn't happen every single week.
B
I have a different heism trophy front runner every single week. Mendoza's right there. He's probably the guy that'll be. But how about I play like this if. Let me not. That is my most explosive, dynamic player in college football. I know it's a quarterback's award and you know, Mendoza is the guy and. But it. I. I like what Mendoza has been able to do, but wow. Jeremiah Love, bro. He's electric. Any electric man.
C
I just, I felt. Do you think he was better than Ashton Genti? I thought Aston Genti was so good, man.
A
Yeah, Genti was like.
C
I don't.
A
I mean, not to say that he's not incredible, but yeah, Genti was special.
C
I felt like his hundred yards or his 97. Oh my God, they about to get into it here in this Florida Tennessee game. Man, these boys tussling. These boys tussling.
B
Okay, can we talk about the guy who. This guy's name is Jeff Ketchum.
C
Oh, follows me. I forgot about that. Yeah.
B
Def Ketchum is the owner and publisher of orangebloods.com man and the Orange Bloods YouTube channel.
A
Big Texas site.
B
It's a big Texas site. Okay. I would like to get Jeff Ketchum on. On the podcast on Wednesday.
C
Really?
B
Because. Yeah, I would because Jeff Ketchum and we have to have this conversation between the three of us. Actually, Billy, if you're there, pop back on. I'm serious.
C
Hold on. First of all, Georgia Tech is within a touchdown for.
A
Yeah, they're trying to come back.
B
I see a furious comeback happening. Okay, so apparently on December 19, 2024, Jeff Ketchum tweeted to this guy named Eddie Rado and He said a $1000 rager for 2025 if OU wins 9 games. Jeff is a catch him guy. He's razzing. No, you guy. I'll donate a thousand dollars to the Boys and Girls Club of Norman. If OU wins less than nine games, you donate a thousand dollars to the Boys and Girls Club Boston. Now, Eddie Rado went on Twitter today as OU won their ninth game and said, on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of Norman, we want to thank you for all that you do. They won nine games. There you go. Jeff comes back and says that I miss you accepting the wager.
A
Oh, technicality.
B
Why was that part not retweeted. Now, I'm going to ask you guys a question. If we make a bet and the bet is between us, then we got to shake on the bet. But if we make a bet on Twitter, do you have to accept the bet, or is the bet the tweet itself confirmation of your intent to bet? Because let's say that they wouldn't have won the games. Would the other guy have been able to come back and say, you need to, like, I won the bet?
C
Yeah, man, I. Yeah, I kind of. When you said it like that, because I'm like, there's no way. If they had just gone 8 and 4 or whatever. There's no way he's circling back on that tweet and be like, okay, I'm ready to pay up now, or whatever his side of the bet was. But, man, Jeff. I mean, I don't know what just Jeff's money's situation is like, but, bro, you can't. I mean, come on, bro. You make the boys and girls club, man.
A
Like, if he circles back.
C
Yeah, you got the tweet, then.
A
Then you pay the piper.
C
Michael Scott's tots, bro, you can't. Can't. Can't do that, man. The kids are kind. The kids in Norman need you, Jeff.
B
They're like the Duke on Zach.
C
Oh, yeah.
E
I feel like if Jeff's the one putting it out there, then, like, it's your best pay.
A
Yeah, yeah. Jeff brought it out his own chaos.
B
So I. I think Jeff gotta pay, man. Jeff.
A
Yeah. Jeff, you gotta pay.
B
Jeff. You gotta pay. Jeff. We gotta bring old school masculinity back. You know, he's gonna tweet the check.
A
Out, like, a video of him going.
C
Old school masculinity and donating it.
A
That's what he needs to do as.
B
We gotta pay as men.
C
Yeah, we are.
B
We gotta pay our bets, man. Like a nice guy.
A
I.
C
With your dad honor.
E
He hates kids, it seems.
B
Oh, but the dude said you hate kids. There's only one way to prove that you love the kids. That's to pay the debt, man. You gotta. Jeff, you gotta pay the dead, homie.
C
Hey, man, that's.
B
No. No disrespect, bro. You gotta pay, man.
C
Marlon Wayne's character, man. Y' all always go back to mo money, bro. He says, gotta pay what you owe. Gotta pay what you owe. Oh, man. Jeff, you gotta pay what you owe, bro. You. I mean, this also. How much money is it? How much money is at stake here? What are we looking at?
A
I think it's a thousand Bucks, man.
C
Bro. Hey, man, you know the one thing I would say, man, the economy is really bad right now.
E
Hates kids, too.
C
Get through the heart at the end of the year. I don't know if Jeff. I don't know Jeff's situation. Thousand dollars could be a lot of money, man.
A
Could be a tax write off, right? Charitable donation.
C
I need that money.
B
So it's always funny to me when I hear these kind of stories. A thousand dollars is not kind of a lot of money. It's so much money. It's like, I know that there's people that's gonna go to the Soul House tonight. They're gonna run up a 400 bill. You talk about a thousand dollars. Where I'm from, I have one of these kids. Get you out of here. I've said this before. Like, it's not. It's. It's so much money, man. It's. I don't know how Jeff and Eddie Rado are doing it, but it's. That's a lot of money for most Americans. Like, a lot of money. So if you had. That's another reason why, if you had the nuts to make a thousand dollar bet, especially around Christmas time, then what you need to do is you need to get together and you need to pay the money, man.
C
Yeah, I wouldn't raise the roof. I would never make a thousand dollar bet. Yes. What's up, dog?
B
Raise the roof.
A
I like Joel's version of it as, like, the original.
C
That's the original version. This is the original version of Raise the roof.
B
Joe, don't do the rest.
A
The one that the Uncle Luke rivets. Yeah.
C
Kind of did.
A
He doesn't like the way they change.
C
Oh, that boy. That boy coming through.
B
But. But I want y' all to see that. I want y' all to see that for a second. Joe, show the way you guys did it.
C
Yeah, the way. The way we did. Okay. Yeah. Cuz, it was like, you know, so you kind of did a little roll up and you're like.
A
Like, remember the Titans.
C
See, that's so whack n. You know what I'm saying? People recognize us out there. People recognize us out there.
B
They got to be the Temptations walking down the street.
C
Oh, this is better.
E
That saved a man's life.
B
Yeah, this.
C
This.
B
Right. Can you imagine? Y' all look crazy.
C
No, dog, no. They would see us. It's like, I.
A
Why do you have to have the hand underneath?
E
Are you pushing your hand up?
B
Yeah.
C
It's kind of like you raising, you know? Yeah. I'M telling you, that was the original version. And people, you know, things are derivative. Things are derivative.
B
God. All right, do we want to stay on to the end of the Georgia Tech game or.
C
No?
A
We got 255.
C
That's a long time.
A
I got a couple more quick hitters I wanted to run.
C
Oh, yeah, let's do.
A
Just so we get some. You get some takes on some of the things that happened. Montana State beat Montana. That was like, the biggest, most attended game of the weekend. And Montana State claimed the Big Sky Championship automatic FCS playoff.
C
Really?
A
So I wanted to give them some love. 31, 28. Pretty incredible game. Had a lot of people reaching out about this game being the best game of the weekend. So I wanted to give them a little bit of credit. Brent Key said, I'd rather be nowhere else than Bobby Dodd Stadium. Do you think he feels that way right now with 241 to play?
C
Oh, yeah, absolutely. He's got to feel. Oh, man. Damn. Pitt scored again.
B
He scored again. Yeah, it's over, man.
C
I mean, I. It was, man. He's got Georgia next week, bro. I mean, man, things are not like. The thing about.
B
He's gonna fall off the rails.
C
Yeah, man. The thing is, is that, man, I mean, Georgia Tech, they did this is a really good coaching job that he did here, man.
A
It's a really good season.
C
It's a really good season.
B
It's a fantastic season. It's a spectacular season in many ways, one of the best seasons that they've had in so many years. It's a. It's a. An amazing season by them, man.
C
Yeah, man.
B
Really good.
C
I mean, man, they got. But, I mean, they squeezed all the juice out of Haynes King, bro. Like, he is just nothing. He is going to be a spent or orange rind at the end of the year because, I mean, they have gotten everything out of that boy. Yeah, man. I feel like, you know, he had to go through this pit game tonight and then Georgia next week, man. Pray for Haynes King, like I said, man, because he's gonna need it. That's. Yeah, he got a lot on him, man.
A
And they started the Heisman campaign this week going into this game, which. Not the best timing with this being the outcome, but also, Narduzzi looks like a genius. He said he does not care about Notre Dame. They could beat him 110 to 10. And then, you know, he focuses on this Georgia Tech game and they got it right.
C
That boy had it right, man. He had it right. I mean, man, Pit look good. Pit Looks good today. That's that freshman quarterback, Mason Holstein. Whole scene.
A
Heinzel.
C
Heinzel. Heinzel, yeah. Mason Heinzel. Yeah, the freshman. True freshman.
A
He's from Oregon. Ohio.
B
Interesting.
A
Yeah.
C
I wonder. Wait, Oregon, Ohio?
A
Oregon, Ohio. The city in Ohio.
C
Have you been there?
A
No, I just heard him say that today, and I was like, think about that. Like the states that are cities in the state, you know, very confusing. Yeah, from Oregon. But you're in Ohio, man.
C
Do you think Pick gonna be able to keep him? Because, I mean, they about to come for him now, man. They're gonna. Pete, you're gonna have to prove your love. Circling freshman. Yeah, man.
A
He grew up a Michigan fan. And Michigan's already taken care of, so.
C
You know, a lot of people got money.
B
What else you got, Tate?
A
A couple more things. SMU destroys Louisville. That was pretty notable stuff. 38.
C
Yeah, it was. Man's got better.
B
SMU has gotten better at times.
C
We were.
B
At times we were really high on Louisville on this show. Louisville kind of fizzled out a little bit as the ACC continues to write itself. ACC's in a little trouble in terms of the playoff is coming up. Were they going to get one team in?
A
Do you think that. Let's say it's Virginia, you know, smu, whatever they play in the ACC championship game. Do you think the committee just takes Miami as the ACC representative? Even though they're not in the championship game, they just say, sorry, guys, we're going to take the best team in the acc. Any world that happens, that would be.
C
The best thing for the acc. I would much rather see Miami.
A
I think we all would.
C
Yeah.
A
No, if this thing, technically they're supposed to take the ACC champion, they got.
B
To take the champion.
C
They gotta take the champ.
B
But the question is, does. I mean, with Notre Dame looking like, you know, as much shit as I've talked about, the fact that they lost to the only two really good teams on their schedule, they're just putting teams through a wood chipper. They are just blitzing people. So now you start to get to that weird point to where, you know, Miami, Notre Dame type of situation, you put the committee in a weird spot. I don't think it's going to get there because I think Notre Dame is going to put so much space between them and Miami that it won't be a consideration. But, you know, if they did in.
A
The Miami VT game, got overshadowed by James Franklin being in the booth talking about Virginia Tech. Right. It wasn't about Miami. The Notre Dame game, they had full stage to Destroy Syracuse. Most points they've scored in program history, by the way. 70 points in that game.
B
So could have gone for. Could have gone for a century if they wanted to, which is doing whatever they wanted to do. Looked like a full, nasty, vicious, violent football.
C
I mean, the thing that's really going to help Notre Dame is that, I mean, never assume the. Rivalry. Rivalry. Rivalry.
A
Can you not say rivalry?
C
You know what I found? I couldn't say rivalry. Rivalry.
B
Rivalry.
A
I said you nailed it.
C
Rivalry. Damn.
A
Anyway, parting shots so we can get out of here.
C
Wait, I had a point. I had.
A
Okay, yeah, okay.
C
Give up.
A
Give a point, then a parting shot.
C
Okay. Anyway, well, now I forgot it, so just go ahead.
A
Rivalry week is coming up.
B
Rivalry week. Rivalry.
C
Re.
B
Rivalry. Rivalry.
A
It's coming up. It's coming up.
B
Who you got in? Robbery. Re. Who you want to win? Robbery.
A
I like the way that felt like a nice moment, you know, where we all came together to raise the. The roof.
C
Van.
A
Parting shots, if any.
B
It is the best team in the country is Ohio State.
A
That, like a question?
B
Yeah, yeah, we. We know that. We're sure about that. They're the only team that hasn't bled. But at this point, does that qualify them as. As the best?
A
I'm excited to see them against Indiana.
B
I'm excited to see them against Indiana. I'm excited to see them against Michigan next week.
C
Yeah.
B
Yeah, man, I. I don't think Michigan. I, I felt way better about my prediction that Michigan was going to win that game like five weeks ago. I don't know. But it's still going to be a game that a lot of people are going to be watching. The Buckeyes real close.
C
Yeah, man, I. You know, that is. That is going to be a fascinating thing because, I mean, really, Ohio, State, man, they basically have a two to three game season. Right. Like they had Texas. Penn State didn't turn out to be what it was supposed to be. They'll have Michigan and they'll have the Big Ten. Big Ten championship game. But we still. There's just a lot that we don't know about that team. Just so far. They just have not. We know that they put away bad teams.
B
Yeah.
C
And so they got that down. How are they going to fight? I mean, Texas has not been as good as everybody thought they were going to be this year. I mean, even if you think that they've gotten better, that there may be a tad underrated, whatever, they were not as good as people thought they were going to be. So Ohio State still has yet to see and it's been a long time since they've been in a dog fight. Man, that's there's something to be said for that is we get close to the end of the year here.
A
That's the encouraging sign. If you're Michigan, right, if you can get that in a close game, get them a little tight in a rivalry game, see what happens there. Wednesday, we will be back. Ring YOUR tailgate. We're going to be breaking down all this stuff. We're going to talk rivalry week. We're going to talk about a whole bunch of stuff. Along the way, they dish out personal stories, trademark banter, and spirited debates in their trademark chaotic, entertaining style.
