Maine is one of the most heavily forested states in America, with vast stretches of wilderness, countless lakes, rivers, streams, and remote locations where very few people venture. It is also a state with a long history of strange encounters, unexplained sounds, and reports of mysterious creatures in the woods. In this episode of Sasquatch Theory, I sit down with Jeremy from Maine to discuss two terrifying experiences that occurred while he was spending time at a remote Boy Scout camp.

The first encounter happened roughly ten years ago while Jeremy was staying alone in a cabin near a lake and stream. Around midnight, he began hearing heavy stomping and crashing sounds behind the cabin. The activity quickly escalated as whatever was outside continued moving through the area without fear. Jeremy describes hearing powerful impacts, aggressive movement, repeated wood knocks, and eventually a massive splash in the water. He believes the creature entered the lake or river and swam across while continuing to make strange knocking sounds that followed the shoreline into the distance.

Later that same summer, Jeremy and a friend experienced another frightening event while walking at night through the camp. In total darkness they heard something huge moving rapidly through the forest. The sound was so powerful that Jeremy felt as though a large predator was chasing something directly toward them.
