Oh, it's Scoop City on a Monday. I'm James Palmer. Don't forget to like and subscribe. We have a fully loaded show. Diane and I have been talking for some time before we even get started, but we have a lot to get to. We're going to talk about this historic fourth quarter, the massive comeback for the Denver Broncos. It was one for the ages and I was there, witnessed it all in person. The Eagles, are they back on track after their mini buy? I know I talked to some people. We'll tell you what the Eagles did right. And during their bye week or mini bye week to get things on the right track. And then lastly, some quarterback injuries. A couple of guys went down. How long will they be out? Diana's going to have all of that for you. The senior NFL insider for the athletic Diana Rossini joins me. Did you like how formal I made that? Like, it was like you're going to walk onto a stage when I introduced you that way.
B
I like that. I like that.
A
That was actually so.
B
I think we need a. We need an applause button on this show.
A
Yeah, there should have been like a roar. Yeah, exactly how that works. How are you? How was your weekend?
B
Really good. I felt like these games, we finally can figure out who's who a bit more. You know, I feel like we've spent so much of Scoop City the last month and a half being like, are they even good? Are they awesome? Are they terrible? You know, what's your noise for it?
A
What? You have a noise for it, don't you?
B
Oh, oh, I do have.
A
Yeah. Yeah, there it is. There it is.
B
Real good analysis right there. But, yeah, no, it was. It was good to just kind of see the teams that you and I have had so many discussions about really step in and do some good stuff. And the bad teams are bad. You know, there. There were no real big surprises to me this weekend with. With maybe the exception of how the Denver game ended, everything to me kind of lined up. Right. Like, did. Did anything get you?
A
No, I mean, I. The early window was kind of like a ish. I mean, like, we've had a lot of lopsided games in the early part of that window. It was. It wasn't what we were looking for, but I think we are starting to see. And remember, everybody, stay tuned to Scoop City for everything Diana has. I'll try to contribute where I can leading into the trade deadline because that's the biggest part of this, right, Diana? Like when teams start realizing we're part of the bad teams, then you know, those are the ones holding on. The winners know what they want to add. They're just waiting for the teams at the bottom to go. Will you please acknowledge that you're part of that group and answer our phone call? Let's get to what we hearing, Diana, and what we are hearing is there's a couple of injuries at the quarterback position. It looked awkward, it looked painful when Jaden Daniels went down. It was just a weird tackle in the backfield. It's a hamstring injury, and I do want to know. It's to the opposite leg 10, the one that has the massive knee brace on it.
B
Yeah, that. That's. That's the good news. If there's. If there's any good news when the quarterback is getting. Is getting injured and, you know, you're seeing all the fodder. Fodder about, you know, is he injury prone? Do we have these concerns? I think his mom even tweeted, like, stop comparing him to RG3. You know, like, oh, I'm with you, mama. Like, I. I get it. Like, you don't. You don't want that out there. But look, he's gonna get an mri. We should know those results soon. So as of Monday here, it's. It's a little after noon. I'm sure they know. So we got to work on just finding out, like, where it's at. Usually MRIs get done the morning of, if not the night before. So we'll happens with that. You know, I think it's just. Look, anytime it's a hamstring, you're always. You're always. These are the injuries that you see, guys, where will report. It's two weeks and then it's like week eight, and they're still not out there. Like, you just don't know. I don't know. I. I don't have a comfortable timeline where I can share of this is when I expect the commander's offense to be full throttle altogether again. Like, there is a world here. Like, when was the last time we saw them all out there at the same time? It just. It just. I feel like it's just been a while.
A
It has. And then Adam Peters is thinking soft tissue after missing all that time. Oh, man. For Terry's sake, I hope he gets out there because we all love watching him play. I mentioned the Niners, you know, Fred Warner. That was. That was something on Sunday Night Football, watching him up in the suite, leg up in the air, just. You're just like, there's very few people more well liked. If there's anyone than Fred Warner in this league and awesome story what they win in the did Sunday night, is there a chance that's the one that we know is just. It's. It's done sadly with Fred Warner. Are we going to see Brock Purdy? Are we going to see Ricky Pierceau? Do we have any reinforcements coming? Because look what we saw, Diana. When George Kittle hit the field, they ran the football. They did well as off as an offense. What about the two I mentioned?
B
Yeah, here's what I can tell you about Brock Purdy and Ricky Piersol. The San Francisco 49ers had week eight circled as this is going to be it. Like this is when these two are going to be able to come back. So to go with where Brock Purdy's at, where he actually even shared with the broadcast that it's like very day to day and it's true, it's all about the pain management. When he initially had this injury, which is turf toe, it wasn't considered to be really serious where he would need surgery. Like we've seen other players around the league have to deal with for him. Like Joe Barrow is the perfect example. Right. But they were definitely looking at that situation in Cincinnati of like, okay, we don't want to push this and then have him re injure it or it become a more serious injury. So they've been very smart with making sure they don't rush him back because they've got Mac Jones and that's been great. But from. From what I was told, yes, Week eight has been circled, but that is not guaranteed. Like we'll see what happens if he practices on Wednesday. But. But as of late last night, from a couple of conversations I was having, it's. It's still really up in the air. He went through a workout yesterday on the field and, and I was told that he didn't really feel that great. So we'll see how this progresses over the next few days. And. And he shared too how frustrated he is. You know, he doesn't want to sit and watch this happen, especially after just getting paid. And it sounds like it's one of those nagging pains too where it's just like you're trying to. You feel like you can go a little bit more and then when you push it, that's when the pain comes back. So we'll see how they. They figure that out. And the same with Ricky Purasol again had it circled for week eight. It's just not definite as of right now on Monday.
A
Okay. Yeah, it's. You have to have it in the back of your mind if you're Kyle Shanahan, if you're. If you're John Lynch. We missed two games with this turf toe injury, Diana. Right. And then we re aggravate it coming back and now it's here. How do we make sure that doesn't happen again when we put him on the fe field and then we're missing him in December, we're missing him in the back end of the season. I'll tell you who doesn't mind it. No, I just said this. They're good friends. I've been told they get along great. Mac Jones, Brock Purdy, it's a good quarterback room. But Matt got himself 400k with that win on Sunday night, and he gets an extra 100 every win he gets now moving forward in terms of incentives. So if he's on the field, you know, this is a really, really impressive move that they made, by the way. And they also have Mac Jones for next year. So anybody who's looking to see what he's doing with Kyle Shanahan in this style of offense that's running a lot of across the league, pump the brakes. You'd have to give up something to get yourself Mac Jones after this.
B
Yeah, it's certainly helping us forget the Trey Lance situation. By the way, James, did you see the clip of Belichick at the UNC Cow game? And so he's on the sideline and in the video clip, I didn't have my sound up. I could just see him talking to a player and I wasn't certain who it was. And then when I watched it, I was like, oh, and that's Kendrick Vaughan. And first of all, I've never seen Bill Belichick look so happy talking to somebody. Right. Like he just was enjoying the conversation. But Kendrick Ford was giving him a hard time. He's like, oh, yeah, Max says hi, by the way, because, you know, Kendrick Bourne is obviously on the 49ers now. It was like a really playful interaction. Kendrick Bourne obviously loves Bill Belichick. Like, that was evident. But he definitely gave him a hard time about Mac, right? Because like, obviously Mac Jones is so funny. One of the tweets, I get crushed on James. Till this day. Till this day, somebody from New England told me that they loved Mac Jones. Like, this was like, I don't know, maybe a week before the season. And. And Patriot fans will not let me live that down because, like, anything could happen and they'll Always add, but the Patriots love Mac Jones. It's like they did and they had every reason to. They just needed better coaching. They needed a better program there when he was there. Because the program he's in now is obviously the best version we've seen of Mack. And again, the theme of our season this year has been quarterbacks can flourish. Good players with talent will do well if they've got the right structure and the right coaching around them.
A
Yep, fit is everything. Max traits match what Kyle's looking for. It's as simple really as that what he does well. Kyle loves, processes quickly, makes quick decisions, accurate with the football when he's clean, like it's, it's there to be successful and we're seeing it real quick. Before I move on, I would say the. What was the term you used for the conversation between Kendrick Bourne and Bill Belichick? It was a very playful conversation. Is that what you said? Yes or you don't hear that term with Bill Belichick very often. Also, Ricky Pearsall would be huge. Hasn't practiced since the injury. But he can play all three receiver spots. He can move around the field. He's exactly where you need him to be. If you talk to John lynch, he'll tell you he does everything you want a receiver to do to be friendly to the quarterback. And when you have uncertainty at that quarterback spot, it's important to have receivers that will always be exactly where their supposed to be. Always run the route exactly where they're supposed to run the route. They think the world of Ricky Pearsall. And remember before he went down he was playing like through the first three weeks like one of the best receivers in football. I mean I was looking at it. He was like leading the NFL in yards per target. He was averaging 93 yards a game before he went down. I mean just the first down machine. And Brandon Iuk may be another month. So Pearsall would be huge for whoever's playing quarterback for them right now. How about J.J. mcCarthy? This one was interesting. Diana, answer this question for me. I'm trying to figure it out. We're told like initially is this a two to four week injury. That's why we're not going to put JJ McCarthy with the ankle sprain on IR. He could potentially come back sooner than that. And now we're hearing like, well it was always a six week injury. What is, what is the truth about this ankle? And I know my ankle sprains are, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
From training staffs.
B
I feel like I have to Always preface this with fans too. Of injuries are the hardest things to report on because every day is different. Everyone has a different recovery timeline.
A
Yes.
B
But in terms of the estimation, I was always told four to six. Like, that was always from the story.
A
Why didn't they do ir?
B
They. They were hoping it would come. No, they thought he would maybe hit the four week and then when he couldn't put pressure on the. I think it was the front of his foot in the way that they wanted to. It wasn't. They didn't call it a setback. They just were hoping he was going to progress faster and he didn't. And this was in London, if I recall. Right. This was in London where they were.
A
Really the whole plan was for him to practice in London.
B
Right.
A
Like that's what they thought was going to happen when they said. Yep, I remember.
B
Correct. Let's go back to that too, by the way, because that has always been the key for them with him is they want him to have a full week of practice. So I think we can assume that the game against the Chargers on Thursday will probably not be realistic because six weeks would be that week after which is the lines. Right. So I think if he's healthy and clear and gets that full week practice, that probably is the time we see him. Unless by some miracle like this week, he's feeling awesome. And I hope so for his sake. But obviously Carson Wentz has done some good things, some bad things. Not perfect.
A
He's been Carson Wentz, I think.
B
Yeah. Yeah.
A
I don't.
B
I don't think we're reinventing Kirsten. We saw. But, you know, look, you see some things from him and you're like, okay, like, I think Kevin o' Connor can make this work. It's where this is gonna get a little fishy, I think, and. And a little dicey for them is when everybody's healthy, like, what are we going to do? And they will tell you that they're going to go with J.J. mcCarthy. Meantime, Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones and Aaron Rodgers are all doing very well.
A
Very well. Yeah. I would say as a whole, though, you are right. I think. I think Carson, if you ask around the league, has been less reckless. I know he had the pick six and some other issues against Philadelphia. We'll get to the Eagles in this show coming up. But also, like, it's. It's the quarterback confidence class that all these guys go through when they're with Kevin o'. Connell. It's like you get this added in, you know, like jolt of confidence in yourself because he puts it in you and he's great at it. Speaking of a quarterback that could use some confidence, the Miami Dolphins, they are an intriguing team right now, Diana. We have one head coach that has lost his job already and Brian Callahan with the Titans last week after going 419 there. I think the league, for whatever it's worth, is kind of just eyeing South Beach. Just looking at Miami and what's going on down there after a drubbing from the Browns after what went on last week with what Tua said.
B
Yeah, I think it's a look there. Yeah. You're being like, like kind to James on money. Yes.
A
Try to be nice.
B
You're trying to be nice because I know, you know, a lot of the guys on that team, those players, coaching staff of great people. Like we've been around them for years. Like there's great people in Miami. And I think that's what also makes this difficult because you're watching it going, how could those people put such bad football on the field? Like, how is this not. Why is this not lining up better? But the reality is the Miami Dolphins are not good at all. And they're lacking everything from the top, bottom, top to the bottom.
A
I thought that was a new term you were inventing the top bottom, but I'm weighing it down.
B
So I was told from a high ranking source that as of now they are not going to make any changes to their coaching staff. As of now, as of 12:26pm on Monday. And I say that kind of. I'm not making a bond or a joke of someone losing their job. But we saw with Tennessee last week where most people did not expect them to fire Brian Callahan because the front office had a philosophy that they were going to stick with him because of Cam Ward and just not make too many changes here in Miami. From, from what I understand, they want the head coach to be able to continue to try to improve this. Could that change? Absolutely.
A
You know, but I think ownership is different in both buildings and that's something that's different across the league in the way owners react and the way that they operate. This team has negative 51 point differential in the second half. I mean, it's just been one issue after another. I do want to run through kind of, because I wrote this down of, of the way this year has gone. We have a players only meeting after week one. Diana, we've covered this league for a long time. That is not a common thing that early in the season that we need to speak together as players because of what's going wrong. There's been meetings between Steven ross and Mike McDaniel that he's been very open about, about the two of them and their frustration with where things are and what they want to do to kind of change this they off season where they wanted to get rid of a lot of bad apples in this locker room and thought they could change the culture by doing that. So there was an emphasis before the season that some of this needed to change. And then you also have to his comments from a week ago that really made a lot of people, to my understanding in that building, kind of scratched their heads down it because they didn't really know what he was talking about. So leading into this game against the Browns, my understanding is he was like apologizing to like a number of teammates for a number of days. Like that's what was going on in your preparation. Leading into a game against the Browns who haven't looked great this year and you get blown out. And I know everybody in the league. And again, we will talk trade stuff. Stay with us on Scoop City because Bradley Chubb, Jaden Phillips, like, these are people that, you know, other teams have their eye on. And then I wanted to make a note on tua, by the way, and where he's at, because I also thought it was interesting and tell me if I'm reading too much into this. They make a switch on who's going to be the backup quarterback leading into that game against the Browns. Quinn Ewers, their seventh round pick, slides into the backup spot before the game even starts. And then after the game, we hear some cryptic Comments from Mike McDaniel that kind of say, if you are consistently, I'm paraphrasing, you know, not helping the team. You have to be evaluated. They're tied to Tua. Whoever's coaching the team, though, in 2026 guaranteed $54 million there at the quarterback spot. Do you think they are evaluating TUA with kind of those comments that, that Mike, that Mike had out there?
B
When you look back to and why they did that deal, and a lot of it stems from the fact that Mike McDaniel knew he was under pressure, right. And he needed to make this work. And I think it's so easy to forget when Miami, when they were humming, they were really good. It's just we haven't seen it in so long. So there was certainly a belief that they could bring that back. And obviously it's not. There is a major disconnect there. I think everyone is Being evaluated, including Tua. I mean, Tua hasn't helped himself with his play. He hasn't helped himself with his comments. He's the captain of the team. Like, none of this is reflective of an organization that Mike McDaniel has wanted and has envisioned. I'm not saying he's not guilty of lack of leadership either himself in that comment.
A
I shouldn't, I shouldn't lop off the end of it, right. He said I have to. It's myself included in this, by the way.
B
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, I hate, I, I don't love those press conferences. We're like, you know, I gotta take a look in the mirror stuff, you know. But, but I think in his case, I think he is searching for answers. I think that entire team is, is just looking at themselves like, how is this going to get better? You know, I can tell you I talked to a few people there this morning and you just feel like they're, they're in it right now. They are going through it as an organization. Because I do think there's this feeling of dead men walking. I, I hate to say it that way, but everyone's just kind of waiting of when is there going to be a change? Because is it's evident this is not working here in Miami.
A
Yeah. And real quickly, oftentimes you make a change in season to get a look at somebody on your staff that could potentially be a head coaching candidate. Anthony Weaver, you've mentioned him as being a candidate, possibly in a place like Tennessee. We'll see what other openings come out. But he is a name that teams around the league are somewhat interested in the problem and you pointed this out to me too. We were talking about this is the defense has just not been good and at all. And again you say I'm being too polite. So I'll just be the defense has not been good. But Anthony Weaver is a name that some people are curious. Is this a guy that can lead in order to organization? So we'll see what ends up happening over the next couple of weeks or the next couple of days. We'll see. Diana, I was at a thriller on oh my goodness.
B
I, I, I, I know we had to hit all the news off the top there. I am so interested in, in a couple of the things that you observed, couple of things you heard. In fact, I want to start there. Okay, so we know now 33 points in the fourth quarter for the Denver Broncos against the New York Giants to get the win. I had texting later in the day, wait, the Broncos won. Like, so many people just turned the game off or moved on and just, like, didn't know what happened at the end. Which is wild. But for you and the perspective that you saw. Can you take me inside the hallways, outside of the locker room when the Giants were coming in?
A
Yeah, I can. I can do that. Because this was a beat down for three quarters in all three phases of the game. The Giants were beating Denver in all three phases. We'll go through them a little bit, but we got to go into the tunnel. I've known this stadium for a long time. I was stalking that tunnel when Patrick Mahomes dislocated his kneecap. And I'm sitting outside that locker room trying to talk to anybody that will listen to me about what is happening with Patrick and the dislocated kneecap in his second season as a starter. I know that that's the spot that you're going to see. Raw emotion. You're going to see the very short window from leaving the field to getting to the locker room, because it's a short walk. And so I'm standing there by myself, and I took the video. You can go watch it pretty much anywhere. I think everybody's stolen it. And Brian Burns is absolutely livid coming off the field. I mean, beside himself most of it. You'll. You'll hear bleeped out when we play the video for you. It's quick, but. But here it is. Roll it now, Diana. I started rolling late, right? Like, I know it's going to happen, but he's saying this started when he was on the field, before he even got to that spot. And there was a lot more to it that I heard. And a lot of it was what they did defensively at the end of the game, upset with kind of what they did. You.
B
You.
A
You have to put yourself in his shoes. And what is the best position group on this entire Giants team? It's the defensive line. It's the pass rush. And when the Broncos got the ball back, no timeouts after Jackson Dart leads. A brilliant touchdown drive. Shows a ton of moxie. And we'll get to him, too. You're rushing three, and you essentially take the best unit of your team. The identity, really almost of this team, in a sense, out of the equation with the game on the line. And I think that's what Brian Burns upset about. I go into the locker room. He is being consoled by multiple players still in his uniform. Well, after the game, just sitting in there with his head in his hands, just not Knowing what transpired and why, probably I would assume his position group wasn't, you know, in a position to be a deciding factor in the win of this game. Team you live there is. Is this. What, what, what is happening here? I was getting texts from friends that work in the New York area. They're like, we are using your video. Thanks for the content. And it was on all these different channels and whatnot. But what is the mood back home right now? What is the mood right there?
B
I'll tell you, the mood in the Giants building this morning, Devastated. They are a wreck over this. Just because that defense did play well for three quarters. Right. They did so much of the work in containing Bonix. I don't think it would be unfair for us to point out that Knicks was holding the team back because this Giants defense was doing a good job. But Bonix didn't really show up until the fourth quarter. And then to lose in the fashion that they did. And let's just take one big step, step back and go macro on the Giants. This is a team that has found a spark with their young rookies. What Jackson Dart's been able to do, they beat the Eagles last week. They're here in Denver, a hard place to play you. Obviously.
A
I'm used to the altitude.
B
I almost said air quality like you live on the highways of Los Angeles.
A
But it's not great.
B
The altitude. Right. You have all these factors and they're winning and they have the advantage and they're stunning the lead league, especially against one of the top ranked defenses in football.
A
Yes.
B
And yet this happens. And the Giants secondary, they're tough. They, they're not a great group. And you saw it that, that Diane.
A
Doesn'T make your point that Brian Burns is upset about even further. You lose Javon Holland, you lose your other, your other, your other best maybe corner. You're thin on the back end. You know that those injuries happened in the game. You know the reputation your secondary has that you were just saying, okay, well let's just put it in their hands then and give Bonix all the time in the world to operate.
B
Yeah. Especially when you're going up against Sean Payton, who's top, to give you a.
A
Sense of where this was.
B
Yeah.
A
By the way, Sean, in the locker room. I do Giants locker room first because the Broncos opened.
B
By the way, credit to you to go to Giant socker room. You're such a veteran because. Yeah, no, that's one of the. True or false. It is one of the hardest decisions you have to make. After a game, when you're a national reporter of. Okay, you can't be in two places at once. Do you go to the winner and get great winner story, or do you go to the loser and get the tale of how it all fell apart and you got to try to hit both.
A
Yep. Luckily, Sean keeps that locker room closed for a very long time.
B
I think that is a good point. You're right.
A
I remember that.
B
Yes. Yes. Because you know, he's got the DJ in there. He's got smoke machine.
A
He's got everything in there. Yes. And so he also doesn't open it until he's done talking illegal. But anyway, so I do Giants first. I go over to the Denver locker room, and this is essentially what was happening. I walk in. Sean is walking through the locker room and he's on cloud nine. He's strutting. And you know that Sean Payton strut. He goes, boys, you better come and visit me in the nursing home and tell me about this game. I want Jonathan Franklin Myers to come to me in the nursing home and say, Coach, remember that 33 points in the fourth quarter? I may not remember it when I'm that age, but I want you boys to come and talk to me in the nursing home about this game. He was floating, but that wasn't the case during the game. What's that?
B
This is. This is one of those. This is one of those games that these guys are going to be talking about when they're old and gray and probably can't even walk because of all the injuries. And they go, remember that night? Night, Right. Because it was just that of, you know, we see a lot of great games, but to come back in that fashion and to rally and look, you have the Broncos side to this. You got the Giant side to this. I just think for New York, I hope this doesn't. I hope this isn't the dagger. Because to lose in that fashion can sometimes tear a team apart completely. Right. Because you have so much emotion. And it switched so quickly, so quick.

Steiner admitted that he was on the bench in game thinking about how he was going to answer the post game press conferences about getting shut out in this game. That was going through his head during the end. That's how much this beat down was. Zach Allen told me after the game when the ball ricochets off one player into the arms of Theo Johnson and he reached and he finishes the play for a touchdown. He was like, we were on the Sunday going, like, it's just not our day. Like, it's Just this just isn't our day. Denver was essentially more or less knew they were going to lose this game until, and this is a big talking point of it, the interception by Justin Stroud, who intercepts Jackson Dart when they're up 10 with, you know, under five to go. And Denver only has one timeout. I talked to Stroud and this is the part that I think people in New York are talking about. Why are you throwing there? Srinad said to me, he goes, I thought he was going to run. Why would he throw it? Like clock is not. It's his friend. It's not on our side. I'm waiting for him to scramble towards me and he throws me the football like I don't know why they were throwing. That was Denver's thought process of it. But I do think you're right in terms of there were enough people in that Giants locker room. Yes, side conversations were happening, specifically guys on the defensive side of the ball, I'll say that. But Jackson Dart put up 32 points against the best defense in football without really his receiving core going mostly his tight ends in Cam Scatterboo and converting third and longs and showed the moxie in under two minutes to drive the length of field. I know the PI call in the end zone. A lot of people disagreed. Sean Payton did. He sprinted out to the middle field and got flagged for it. But he was able to put this drive together. And if you ask anybody, and I did, anybody in that huddle was like, that was not a rookie running the huddle in the two minute to end the game. Like, that was not a rookie. And so if you have anything from the Giants, you hang your hat on that.
B
Like, yeah, that's what such a defeating feeling for them is that Jackson Dart has been finding a way every game to sort of ignite this team. And yes, they've been entertaining and fun and, you know, I, I just hope this doesn't stop that momentum that they've built. And I think, look, you got to wonder what it's like for them, those coaches today watching the film. Like, you don't have much of a choice here but to fix the problems, flush this thing and get ready for the Philadelphia Eagles, you know, because they, they're easily back in this the Giants. And by the way, the Giants should be better. Right. I would argue that they could have.
A
Won the Dallas game easily.
B
Exactly. So. And look, I don't want to do this to them yet, but what if they had just started with Jackson Dart? Could they maybe have you're lucky Chase.
A
Isn'T on this show. You're lucky Chase isn't on today's show. He would be.
B
Bo Nix, ultimate procrastinator, just shows up in the fourth quarter. He's like everyone I, you know, worked on research projects with. They just showed up the night before it was due. After I did all the work. I'm just kidding. I was.
A
Definitely works best under pressure. I get it.
B
It does.
A
All right, coming up, plenty more Scoop City to go. Diana, we have to get cranking here because we took forever there, but we could talk about that game for an attorney. We got to talk about some other statements that were made on Sunday. We're going to pick a couple, but we're also going to focus on Philadelphia. Much more of that coming up on Scoop City on a Monday.

Covered a ton in the A block. That's a TV term, but let's move it to the B block. Diana, as we talk about maybe some teams that made a statement on Sunday, we're each going to pick a team after we go through what Philadelphia did. Our eyes have been on this team. Chase keeps saying it's 2023 all over again. It's not 2024, but there was something similar to 2024 that we saw in this game after they go and beat the Vikings on the road. When you talk to coaches, by the way, they're also like that's a well coached team coming off of a bottom buy that we went and beat on the road. But the reason I bring up 2024, Diana, there was a mini buy here with the Thursday some time to fix some things. The buy early in the season changed the Eagles season last year in in their, you know, road to the Super Bowl. Did you talk to anyone or gather anything about what happened in the bye week or the mini bye week as we'll call it, with a Thursday game that you saw transpire on Sunday, did.
B
You see Jalen Hurts answer to that question. So Pam Oliver asked him and he was just like really trying to rack his brain of like what did we do this last week to fix all this. So I from my conversations, I don't get the sense that there was some wild meeting and fight. Like everything was pretty normal this past week. But in regards to the performance, like yes, some of those explosives were really good. We saw A.J. brown, we saw Devontae Smith, we saw that the run game is still not that good. I still don't think the offense found a rhythm. Like I still think they're gonna, they're still trying to figure this out here. I don't think the offense is fixed. I didn't watch the game going the Eagles are back like that wasn't it. I think it was a great win for them. And obviously Jalen Hurts was fantastic, but it's still a little disjointed at this point. And look, most of it's because we know what the heart of the problem has been or at least the center of this issue has been the offensive line dealing with different injuries I spoke to a source right before the show that says that Brandon Graham could possibly be signing with the Eagles. We're waiting to hear more if this actually goes down. He's definitely thinking about could happen at. At any point here. In fact, I'm just checking my phone just to see if it's happened yet because I was told that, you know, there's a good shot, but we'll see with the return of Brandon Graham. But in terms of just this team trying to fix these issues that I just don't know if it's that easy to fix, one game isn't going to do it. Do I think they're in a much better position than they were, let's say, a week ago? Yeah. But until this run game doesn't look so stagnant, I think this is still going to be a hard schedule for this team and for them to continue to be successful. How do you see it?
A
Yeah, a couple of things that jumped out at me. I did talk to some sources about what happened during the mini bye week and you're exactly right. There wasn't some sort of like, eureka moment or looking at the film we saw, you know, this and bam, we got to do that. A couple things were found out. I think on the minimal side, we're not as deep as we were last year. That is definitely something that has stood out to them because a couple of the injuries that they're dealing with and they were able to use these days to get healthy. I think that was part of it. Landon Dickerson goes and plays 100% of the snaps. You get Jalen Carter back on the field, who, let's just say this is pretty good at football and changes the course of a game in the middle of that defensive line. So the extra time helped him in that. I think the other thing that did kind of stand out is we need to find ways to affect the quarterback and we need to find ways to do that pretty quickly. And the Brandon Graham is part of that. My understanding is, and I'm kind of curious what your take is. The thought in that building and we'll always see with Howie is, yeah, Brandon Graham is definitely a possibility to my understanding, but that wouldn't be the only move. Brandon Graham here isn't here to save our entire pass rush. But I will say this. I was at that game last year where he tears his. Was it triceps? I believe it was in at Sofi. And at that time I was talking to defensive coaches like, he's kind of our best pass rusher he doesn't play a ton of snaps, but he's kind of our best pass rusher on the outside. And so we'll see what Brett BG can do if he does end up deciding to make this happen. But I don't know if that's the end of what they do. They did get under center more and. And utilizing the stre strengths of. Of Jalen, I think is something that they're trying to do because he can't do everything. Diana. We know that. Definitely there's some things he knows he can't do as a vertical passer down the field. If you ask around the league, he's one of the best in football. And the vertical passing game and. And they went downfield and they had some explosives that was able to happen. Like you said, the offensive line played a little bit better. They still couldn't run the ball. That's still an issue. But they did protect Jalen enough to go and have some of these. These shots downfield. And so there were some things to fix. I mean, he had a perfect quarterback rating. What I'm fascinated by is do you think when, you know, we all saw the video when he's coming in ready to go to the locker room and he's how he's slapping everybody. High five. And Jalen's wearing my favorite Jordans converted into cleats, the 11s. He says we ain't effing losers no more. Is this going to be a. Do you think Jalen said that knowing the camera's there and quickly copyrighted the term. And now we will have some. Some Jalen hurts.
B
No, I don't. Because he's always saying things like that.
A
I actually that's why he's copyrighting them too.
B
It's my favorite thing he has said. He has said a lot of things. Little. I don't even know what you call. They're not poems.
A
But he's like Dr. Seuss. He's a football.
B
By the way, he always has a lesson in most of his press conferences. And I like this one. He was fired up. I don't think he did it for the cameras. Did you see Tim McManus report about. About Devonte Smith? I guess at halftime he was the one who said like the under center play action that's available. And then they do it like. I just love the fact they're just making these adjustments. The players are calling it out.
A
Let's listen.
B
I. By the way, does Howie always greet the players when they're walking locker room? Is that Is that tradition?
A
Often times at home, he goes onto the field.
B
That's what I was thinking when I saw that, I was like, I've seen him. Because I would see him out there. I've never seen him stand there. The only person I've seen do that is very well. That's like a variable thing. Like, stand there, thank each player.
A
Like, can I say I watch on a regular diet? I just have to say this. Mac, you can cut it if you want. Mike Vrabel waiting for the center Ben Jones after that one game where he gutted it out through all those injuries. And Vrabel is waiting for Ben to get into the locker room. I don't know if anybody's seen this video by NFL Films. It's incredible. Vrabel is balling his eyes out and he hugging Ben Jones. And if you want to know why guys play for Mike Rabel, just watch that video. Ben Jones, Mike Rabel. Google it. But that is what Braves is known for.
B
Really hurt, too, in that game.
A
Really, really recall.
B
It was like he was so injured and he never complained, and he stayed out there.
A
It was unbelievable. Variable's crying and he's like, I've never seen anything like it. I've never seen. No, they did.
B
They won that game. They won that game. They won the game because he was talking about.
A
I got chills.
B
That wasn't. Did they beat the Jags? I forgot who was. But yeah, that is. That is a good clip. And. And by the way, in the Patriots post game locker room, we're all over the mountain. You saw a lot of that, too. They, like, gave him the game ball.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
That was cool. I know I've. I got to stop watching these. These clips, but I, I'm obsessed with them. I love watching post game stuff, which is weird because you and I spent our entire careers around it. But it's like we've never been allowed into that because reporters aren't allowed in until, you know, 15 minutes usually. So we miss that. And so you just stand there staring at a closed door. And now that we have the access because they're so great at giving us that NFL films or team reporters, whatever it is. Yeah, they're. They're all really good. Like, right now, my favorite ones to watch are the Bears. Like, Ben Johnson cracks me up.
A
Like, they're going now.
B
Yeah, he's crazy in the best way.
A
Oh, 100%. I bet you a couple of these teams that we're going to talk. We're each going to pick one that maybe Made a statement on Sunday, maybe had a decent post game game ball, you know, that they handed out or something. I don't know. I'll have you go with your team that you believe made a statement on Sunday 1st and I will follow with my team.
B
Okay. We've talked about him a lot this year, which we never expected to. And I am finally a. A real believer in the Colts. They're. And one, Shane Sten has this offense humming. Right. We just talked about the Eagles. The last time we saw the Eagles offense humming, Shane was calling plays like this, you know, and that's what they remind me of a little bit. Bit of that Philadelphia Eagles season where Shane was calling plays and they, and they were having so much success all over the field. Right. And they, it's their explosive plays. They, they have less time of possession than the chargers, but just 10 different explosive plays help them really beat up on the Chargers.
A
Yeah.
B
Then the defense, of course, Luana Rumo, keeping those guys on their toes. They've got some holes, right. They've got some, some injuries that they're dealing with there. You couldn't tell though, right? Herbert got sacked three different times. Look, they're taking care of the ball. I think this team is just coming together at the right time. And, and I didn't buy it because it's hard to forget Daniel Jones in New York. That is the truth. That is why people are too close to it.
A
Diana, you're too close to it. You witnessed the trauma.
B
It's just we keep waiting for Daniel Jones to turn into a little indie pumpkin. But I think this version of him is the Daniel Jones the Giants always wanted and even saw it some, some moments during his career with, with New York. But I think him and Shane have a complete understanding of what they want this to look like. Their relationship, the communication, all of it. And, and to me, I went from being like, oh, the culture cute. They're winning too. The Colts are real.
A
Yeah. Yeah. How about that? Let's look at real quick before I do my team, because I just thought of this while we were doing this. The post game NFL honor accolades. We always go to NFL honors. We always run into each other there. Diana, dressed to the nines, red carpeting. It.
B
You know, you walk the red carpet. I'm a dork on the sideline doing interview on the sideline on the red carpet. I'm just like on the side channel. James, James, over here. What are you wearing?
A
Macy's. And then I keep walking. I'm wearing Ryan Seacrest. Oh, okay. The awards that happen there. Coach of the year. Do the Colts have a candidate there?
B
Yes.
A
Rookie of the year. Do the Colts have a candidate there? Tyler Warren. Yes.
B
Boom.
A
Offensive player of the year. Do the Colts have a candidate there?
B
Yes, they do.
A
Taylor is incredible. I'm like, this team right now is like looking at all the. Are you going to go mvp? Are you going to go mvp?
B
Are we going to be the first show to say that Daniel Jones needs. I'm doing it as a voter straight up headed into week eight. I've now nominated Daniel Jones to enter the MVP race or comeback player of the year or comeback player of the year.
A
He could also win comeback player. They may sweep the awards. The Colts could sweep the awards.
B
Run this back in January when they get booted after the first round. Just kidding. I think that's what's made them so fun is they. They just look like a sound team from, from top.
A
They.
B
They could definitely use a corner, get some corner help because of injuries. But they have, they have figured this out. That is not easy going out to LA to feast the Chargers, like they just continue to. They have now become the trouble in the AFC south without a doubt. I don't know who's going to stop them.
A
It's been, it's been a blast to watch. I'm not going to lie. It's actually just fun. Fun balance.
B
6 and 1. The last time the Colts were 612009 with Peyton Manning and they went to the super bowl that year. Just saying.
A
Just saying. Okay, well I have a guy and a team and a player that leads a certain team as my statement team that maybe is furthermore into the MVP conversation. And that's Dak Prescott and the Cowboys. Dak is playing outstanding. Talking to people there this morning, it was he. He is playing like the MVP of the NFL. We just need somebody on the defense to start stopping some people now. Demo gets activated off of the. He gets his window opened up. Right, Diana? So that's huge for this defense. They need to find a way to. To. To get some stops. They're going to play, I believe Denver next. But what I was the statement that they were going to make on Sunday was this. How are they going to coexist with both of these receivers with CD Lamb returning? Lamb in the first two weeks has 110 and 112 yards respectively. Then week three, he kind of goes down within that game. So that's kind of a, you know, a loss game for him. But he was rolling before he goes down while he's out. George Pickens is on fire as the number one, right. He has 11 catches for 31, 34 in one game. He has 11 catches for 168 in another game. How are they going to coexist, Diana? Am I saying how are they going to coexist? What do we know about George Pickens's reputation? Am I going to still get the targets? Am I going to still be the guy that I've been in the locker room so far? Is this going to work? Well, he has two number ones. Lamb goes for five for one, 10 in a TD. Pickens goes for four and 82. They have the second leading rusher in the NFL and Javante Williams. They have a tight end in Jake Ferguson, who is tied for the NFL lead in touchdown catches. Dak is putting the football, football everywhere, and there's been injuries in front of them. I think we're seeing. Could this be, and I want your opinion, one of the best offenses in football. They lead the NFL in total offense. They're second in points per game. This looks like a team nobody would want to play in December. If the defense can just be okay. Like, are they a contender now? They could be, yes.
B
And I didn't see this coming.
A
No.
B
The Brian Schottenheimer hire always had us going a little underwhelming. Right. Like, we kept saying, this is Jerry trying to control, but Jerry kept saying the hire was about Dak, it wasn't about anything else. And who knows? And I'll be talking to Jerry in a couple days here at the league meetings in Manhattan, because I want to ask about that, looking back on some of that. But you bring up George Pickens, why is that working in this locker room? Like, if you're Pittsburgh and they, they. They know a lot more than we do. And I don't think a lot has been reported about George and some of the problems that they had there, because I do think there was. There was some stuff there. How is Dallas? Who. I mean, I don't know how you see the Dallas Cowboys locker room. I don't see them as this, like, top policing type space like you see in Kansas City, where it wouldn't, you know, you do what Travis and Patrick and Chris tell you to do, you know, like, they set the tone in that locker room. And look, I know Dak is one of the best leaders in football. Maybe that's part of it. But it is impressive that Brian Schottenheimer has been able to control George Pickens and then have him playing at the level that he's playing at. We've given Jerry so much heat for trading away Micah Parsons, but I think we should probably give him a bit more love on this Pickens trade.
A
Yeah, I think you're right. And I think I love that you asked that question because if you asked around, what would they tell you outside of being a brilliant play caller right now for the way this offense is working with Dak and Dak is a huge part of it, what is one of Shoddy's biggest strengths? Managing people, managing personalities, building relationships, things like that. He is outstanding at those. I was hearing Dynam remember during the whole Micah Parsons saga of the entire offseason. He was still keeping like a really good relationship with Micah throughout that entire situation, which is a testament to how he wanted to try to keep the team together and his relationship with Micah, thinking he was coming back. But at the same time, Pickens has a very good relationship with CD Lamb. I don't overstate the business side of this as well. George Pickens is in a situation right now where it's like I'm kind of out of opportunities. You and I know a lot of what went on in Pittsburgh that we haven't reported started. Everybody in the NFL knows a lot went on in Pittsburgh if we know. And so I have an opportunity to maybe correct some of the thoughts during this season. I'm a free agent after this year. I need to ball out now. It's going great right now. That's why I thought this was my statement game of seeing him and CD out there together, both getting fed, both making plays. Let's see if it continues. It certainly looks like it's going to and and this is an offense that I'm not sure who's stopping him. I'm excited to see him go against Denver like it is. It is a balanced attack. And Javante Williams gets to go back to Denver, by the way, the team that drafted in, the team that sent him out and he's playing awesome. One of the best stories in the league. All right, we're going to take a quick break. Come right back. We have one more thing we want to talk about. This was a heated topic during our production meeting. What do you think about fall activities? More Scoop City coming up.

We had an interesting topic brought up to us during the production meeting with our excellent, excellent production team. And it was, man, I was carving some pumpkins, Max. Like we're carving pumpkins and we're trying to be like, you know, is this, is this fun? What's that? All these activities that revolve around this time of year. First off, I love the weather this time of year. I love my attire during this time of year. By the way, I'll just say, you got the denim going on. It's, it's a great time to rock a light Jacket, you know, but what about, like, pumpkin carving, corn mazes, hayrides, stuff you do with kids? Are these. Are these worth a damn or are they pointless? And we're just falling victim to these. These traditions, if you will.
B
So I'm a really big Halloween person. Not, like, weird where, like, I decorate my house like a spider nest or anything. I just. I like this time of year. I like the smell of fire pits in the air. I like. I like even what we make for dinner. It's like, cozy, warm meals, and I love summer. But this change of weather is exciting. And I think it's probably because it's all connected to football, right? Like, it all makes you feel like it's football season.
A
So it feels like high school football. I'm not gonna lie.
B
Maybe that's what it is. And so it just connects us to. It's nostalgic for us now. When you become a parent, though, these things just are not as much fun as I expected. To start with the pumpkin, we haven't done the carving yet this week. This past weekend, we decided to do. Which is a terrible idea, either stickers or to draw on the pumpkins. Guess what material isn't great to draw on pumpkin skin. Like, it doesn't work. Like, so you. You. That doesn't. So we have to probably do the carving. But my. My children would pick the knives up and stick it in their cheeks, so we probably can't do that.
A
And you can only. You can only draw with a Sharpie, and then the kids have Sharpie all over them that you're not getting.
B
Well, that's. I'm glad you said. I. Kevin was very mad at me because I gave the kid Sharpies. Right. Ruined everything. They have permanent marker on their hand today still, because I can't get it out. And the pumpkins don't even look good.
A
Yeah.
B
So you have that. Okay. Then you have this thing. Okay. You don't have small children, so you. You don't have to deal with this. There is a thing called. I think it's called booing or boo bags. Essentially, what this is. It is our version of ding dong ditch, except with a present. Okay? So what happens is in the middle of the night, so it's dark, somebody rings your doorbell, you run to the door, you open it up, and no one's there. And you look down, and there's usually a bag of treats with candy in it. A toy, boys. And you're not supposed to know who it's from. Yeah. Like, they. They had some, like, plastic Pumpkins last night. So in our house, the boys were asleep. So then they hear the, they hear the doorbell, which then wakes them up. We run outside. It's. We still don't know who it's from. Like, thanks, because they ran away. I probably should check the ring. But I, I, but, okay, geez. Now do I have to do this? Do I have to ring, run boo. Whatever.
A
Ring, run, boo. Listen, so, like, all right, so they're gonna ruin your evening. The boys are awake, and then they're like, sorry for ruining your evening, but here's a Mars bar.
B
Like, yes.
A
I think this is a terrible idea.
B
It's very dumb.
A
Personally, I don't want anybody ringing my doorbell.
B
It's all I know. I don't wanna talk to anyone. Nevertheless, like, in the middle of the night, like, and it's all the rage. Like, everyone does it. And like, what's funny is my 4 and 3 year old, they don't understand it. So they're, like, looking at me the way I was looking at them. Like, what the hell was that?
A
No, so you think it's like, so you're acting like, is this a chain letter? Now you have to do it to 10 people. You'll have bad luck for the rest of the football season.
B
Like, I heard the term chain letter.
A
Remember that?
B
I used to do those. Okay, for those who don't know what a chain letter is, if you're our age, you know it. But for the younger listeners and watchers, it essentially was a letter that was written and you would sign it and then add your own message to it and then give it to, like, six other people. And so, like, where would it wind up? What was the point of it?
A
Oftentimes it only wound up moving along if there was people that really, like, were terrified that they were going to have bad luck and everybody else there with the garbage, but the people that passed it on, you were banking on the person freaking out if they didn't pass it forward. Like, their life is over.
B
Put on Twitter. Does anyone want to do an NFL chain letter?
A
Yeah, you have to respond.
B
Yes, you have to respond or your team's gonna go, oh, and whatever.
A
Oh, fans will do it. I think fans will definitely pass it forward. I mean, too, too paranoid to go wrong with their team. I will say this, Dinah, though. We are going through, as I have a teenager, we are going through a different situation in our neighborhood, which is just straight up ding dong ditch. And now every kid in the neighborhood has one of those. E. B. I'm so envious they have these things. They are. Is this your neighbor? They are flying around on these E bikes. They're technically like bicycles, but they're all. They look like dirt bikes. There's just electric dirt bikes flying all over the neighborhood. And some of these, some of them are capped at like 25 miles an hour. Some of these kids have. These ones now, they just have two pedals. They're supposed to look like a bicycle. They never pedal them. They sit on it like a dirt bike. They go like 60, 70 miles an hour. No, no. And they go from like 0 to 60 like that. It's.
B
They wear helmets.
A
So you think these kids are wearing helmets?
B
No.
A
And so. And they don't follow the stop signs or anything. So you're terrified you're going to hit a kid on a bike non stop driving around the neighborhood. Because they just fly all over the place. So what they're doing is they ring on these doorbells, then get on all these bikes and they zip away super fast. I didn't zip away fast enough. The other night when our neighbor was telling us about her boys that were with a group of boys that were all on their E bikes. Ding dong ditch. Ring the doorbell, guy opens the door, punches the kid right in the face. 15 year old kid just drills him. Now apparently they've been doing this to this guy's house for like eight months straight and he has lost his mind. I like anybody listening or watching to tell me if this guy's completely in the wrong or do you think he went completely insane over eight years? I was just thinking, what do you.
B
Do to like, what would you do if you were him? That's what I, that's where I go of like, okay, if this was.
A
I don't know what I do in his shoes, God, I'd be so upset. Oh, every day.
B
Every day on my porch. So they stepped on it.
A
I would, yeah, I would do something. I would be the guy waiting in the bushes and like come up or I don't think I'm punching him.
B
Like when you press my doorbell, like have it zap you. Back, back.
A
You're thinking of all like the home alone type of things that like Macaulay people outside of his house. I'm basically Diana with macaulayculk in her house. Yes.
B
Just have it. Have a hot iron out there.
A
Make.
B
The front porch slippery and put a couple nails down.
A
Just be on the back with a couple of paint cans and just throw them over, hit them in the head with a brick. Apparently from the second ones just open.
B
The the door, toss the cans.
A
But so, I mean, like, I don't know, maybe if these to make this full circle, maybe if these kids were leaving some Milk Duds or a Milky Way, this guy wouldn't be as upset. He just collecting a crapload of somehow.
B
Somehow at the same time, in different chapters of our lives, we are dealing with the same situation, though we're both dealing with Ding dong ditch in 2025.
A
I was a Ding Dong bitcher when I was a kid. I had had that conversation with my son. I was like, listen, I bought. Been there. I've done it. We did to the same guy for a long time. But we didn't have electric bikes to get away on. So to use our feet to run like regular humans. Run. Oh, wonderful. Diana, I will see you on Wednesday as we break all of the news down. And hopefully we have some updates from you about what's going on with Jaden Daniels and what's going on with JJ McCarthy and Brock Purdy as we get into the practices of week eight around already. Oh, week eight already. Here we go.
B
You'll see me from the league meetings. I'll probably be in some lobby of a hotel coming to us live here. And so much goes on at the league meetings. I know it sounds dull probably to you guys listening, but it's a bunch of owners who are very willing to talk. So hopefully we'll have some good news for you next episode.
