Year one of the Ryan Silverfield era is quickly approaching. There's new hope and there's new optimism in Fayetteville, but what will it lead to in year one and what are realistic expectations? It is a rebuild by definition for the Razorbacks football program and a daunting SEC slate awaits. Speaking of our friends over at Kalshee, Kalshee gives Arkansas a 5% chance to make the College Football Playoff this season. So if you're feeling frisky, head over to Kalshi and go place a wager on those odds. Either way, guys, with that being said, let's pull up Arkansas's 2026 schedule as I lock in my predictions and we will start with the season opener, of course, against North Alabama. Excuse me. Arkansas opening up in non conference play at home and I think the Ryan Silverfield era is going to get off to a positive start. That is saying the very least, right? K.J. jackson at the quarter quarterback position, Braylon Russell back at running back. It's, it's just so much new in year one. But new is good. New is really good, right? I heard a friend of mine who covers the Razorbacks talking about this, that this team is being dismissed. This team is being discounted. They're going to be terrible. They're going to be awful. I will be really curious to see right out of the gate, does Arkansas come out with a chip on the shoulder? Does Arkansas come out fired up? Do they come up pissed off? I would expect in week number one at minimum, Arkansas is going to take out maybe some frustration on North Alabama. But if nothing else, it will be a fun start to the Ryan Silverfield era. I think Arkansas gets that win. They do start out one. And oh, getting the dub over North Alabama. Things get serious very quickly though. You stay at a conference week number two, you go to Utah. Guys, I got Arkansas dropping this football game. I know Utah's got some new as well. They've got some change. But I think just from a program perspective, this is one. I think the program is on much more solid footing if you're the utes. Also, it is a night game, 1015 Eastern, 915 Central out there in Salt Lake City, Utah, one of the toughest places to play in all of college football. You're asking not just a young quarterback, but a young football team and a new, a brand new head coach to go out to Utah and get the win. Give me the utes to take down Arkansas. I will say this though, upset alert game. If you're going to overachieve if you're going to say reachable game, which I think would be success in year one, Orion Silverfield, winning this one would wake up a lot of people. I think it's shake a lot of folks, let them know, hey, we got some talent over here. Like, we may not finish middle of the pack, we may not go to a playoff, but we're not going to finish dead last like everybody predicted us to do in the preseason. But I gotta see it before I can call it, guys. Give me Utah to get the win. Arkansas to fall to one and one Georgia at home. Now listen, Ryan Silverfield made this point and I agree with him. Again, you have to be realistic. In year one, in games like this, the goal is always to win when you step on the field. From the athlete perspective, the coach perspective, the staff perspective, and I totally get that. But as a fan, can you walk before you run? You're gonna have to, right? You gotta crawl before you can walk. Heck, even can Arkansas give Georgia a fight? That's really what it comes down to. I compare this to year one of the Jeff Levy era in Starcore, where it's like, hey, listen, spreads and gambling is a big thing in sports right now and it always has been. But if you can go out there and cover a spread, right, that's something. The folks in Fayetteville, when they're talking to their buddies on Monday morning, they're playing armchair quarterback. They can at least hang their hat on it. Hey, well, you know, we played the dogs tighter than they expected. It's at least something that gives you the ability to take away something positive when it comes to winning the football game. Guys, I don't think Arkansas has a chance in this one. Georgia is one of the teams I think can compete for and win the national championship. And I think the Dogs will have their way with Arkansas in this football game, I think Arkansas drops to 1 and 2. But again, can something positive come from it? Can you put on at least a showing at home that your fan base can be proud of? Blowouts at home were part of the Sam Pitman experience. You do not last very long as a head coach if you cannot play your best football in front of your home faithful. Guys. The following week against Tulsa, again, I got Arkansas dropping a 1 and 2. This is a scary game. This is a very, very scary game. Listen, you can kick, scream, be mad at me. I think it's indicative of where the program is right now for the Hogs. I think this is a losable football game. That being said, I think Arkansas at home at night will get the win, but I think this one comes down to the wire and this one will feel, this win will feel much bigger than it really is, which again I think is a sign of just where the program is, where every win you cling to for dear life. I think the Hogs will get the win though. I think they will escape. Tulsa has been a nice program over there. They will give Arkansas everything they want. More. They're going to come in, I think expecting to win, but I do think Arkansas is able to pull it out and I think they move to 2 and 2. Arkansas travels to Texas A and M. Kyle Field. Thank goodness this game is no longer at Jerry World, right? I think this is another loss for Arkansas. I mean, listen, if the fact that you haven't been good against Texas A and M and that's putting it lightly wasn't enough, I think where A and M is and where Arkansas is, I think they are just completely, completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Completely opposite ends. I, I think A and M will be able to bully you up front. I think Marcel Reed has a big day and I think Mike Elko defensively, I think he will have K.J. jackson seeing ghosts. I, I really don't see much of a chance here going to Kyle Field, especially decent chance. This is a night game. I think A and M wins this one. I think they win it big and I think Arkansas drops to 2 and 3. Then you get the Tennessee Vols and you get them in a really interesting spot. This is the week before Tennessee takes on Alabama at home. Is there a bit of a look ahead situation for Tennessee? Josh Hyp, by the way, what's been the staple of his tenure at Tennessee? They've always lost a signature road game that you felt like maybe they shouldn't have lost what happened two years ago. Heck, I was at the game, guys. I rushed the field with you. Arkansas won that game. You look back at the history, weirdly enough, I don't know what it is. Arkansas has had success against Tennessee at every single turn. Two years ago, you could argue that was a game they shouldn't have won. Tennessee was a top five team in the country and Arkansas pulled it off. Give me the Hogs yet again to get the win. I think Arkansas shocks the college football world or at least shocks the SEC world to a degree. I think they find a way to upend Tennessee. Don't ask me to explain it. Don't ask me to make sense of it. Something's in the air when Arkansas plays Tennessee In Fayetteville. I think they will get it done. I think it is a signature win, a monumental moment in year one for Ryan Silverfield to get to three and three, but also just again get a signature SEC win in the first year of his tenure there in Fayetteville. That being said, guys sitting at three and three, everybody's going to be like, man, look at Arkansas, what a good start. I think this is where the season takes a turn. I think you lose at Vanderbilt the following week. I think doors get you right. The test of a team. How do you handle prosperity? I don't think Arkansas handles it very well and I think Jared Curtis and Vandy are actually very similar to Arkansas. You could argue certainly they're further ahead from a roster standpoint, but they're similar from the standpoint of I don't know that Vandy's going to be great, but they're going to have their moments. They're going to get some people. I think they get you. I think they get you in Nashville. You fall to three and four. Okay. You go into the bye week, whatever. You're three and four. I think you lose to Missouri at home. Excuse me. Yeah, I think you lose to Missouri at home. Missouri is one of those guys that you just for whatever reason have not been able to have success against. Never. You never have. It's. It's mind blowing to me. But Missouri's got your number. They absolutely own you. So I think you drop that one in Mizzou. I think at Auburn, I think you dropped that one as well. I think Alex Goish gets the better to Ryan Silverfield. I think at this point maybe do injuries. Does wear and tear start to set in? I think Auburn is in a much better spot from you in a roster standpoint now. I think this one could be a really good game. And if you're going to get to six, if you're going to get to a bowl game, this is probably one you need to win. But going to Jordan Hair, I don't see it happening. I got you losing at Auburn the following week against South Carolina. I do have the Gamecocks coming into your house and beating you. I, I think Shane Beamer Co. This will be one he has to have for his job as South Carolina, I think is going to have a very up and down season. I think they're going to have to have this one late. Lenora Sellers, Dick Harbor, Dylan Stewart. They will have the three best football players on the field. They will have the better team on the field that day. This is one though. Certainly circle it if you're going to get another SEC win. South Carolina at home. The renewal of an old rivalry where they used to play every single year. It was the east west crossover in the sec. I do think this is a gettable game for the Hogs. And I'll be curious what does Arkansas look like at this point. But I'm gonna go South Carolina in this game. I think you dropped that one. And then guys, you close out with a brutal two game stretch at Texas, I think you lose that one. I think it's pretty self explanatory. Guys, I think by this point Texas is absolutely rolling. I don't think they overlook Arkansas. I think it'll be a very ho hum business like performance. Arch Manning, big day. I think it's sort of a name. Your score game for the Longhorns and then finally LSU at home is very intriguing. I will give you that. Rivalry games, you never know what may happen. But LSU did not spend over $40 million to lose to Arkansas in Lane Kiffin's first year. I do not think they will do so. I think Arkansas, you lose that football game and you end the season on a six game losing streak to finish up at 3 and 9 and 1 and 8 and SEC play. Guys, again, I think this is a rebuild by definition. I do. I think it's a rebuild by definition. I just think you have so many holes on this roster and I don't think it's really an SEC level roster right now. It's not a roster ready to compete at the highest level. It's going to take time. And you know what, I'll even say this, maybe it is. Maybe it's a roster that can go six and six, can go seven and five maybe. But there are so many question marks and you're asking so many guys that are either unproven or unproven from lower levels I might add to come in and be SEC contributors. And there's just teams on this schedule that you play that they have many more known commodities. And it's just really hard to see Arkansas overcoming that many question marks and putting anything together. Much more than the record I have listed here by the way. For Those watching on YouTube, I understand the game is against Missouri at home. We have it listed at Missouri. That's our apologies on that. The graphic there, the mistake either way though. Yeah, I just, I don't see it. I don't see it for Arkansas this year, guys. I think it is a rebuild. But here's the deal. Will Arkansas be patient with Ryan Silverfield. Will they give him the time he needs to build this program? There's been a lot of momentum around the idea from folks I talk to. Maybe Ryan Silverfield is a one and done in fville, which I think is absolutely crazy. It would show ultimate dysfunction within that athletics department, but who knows. The SEC is wild in itself.
